Allen County honored 118 unclaimed, unidentified, or abandoned cremated remains in a moving ceremony — the first of its kind — ensuring no life was forgotten, even if their stories were unknown. Among them were infants and veterans, with some remains dating back to 1985. Inspired by Marion County’s successful model that began with infant burials and expanded to adults, Allen County now publicly shares names to reconnect families — already reuniting 12 individuals and tracking two more.
