- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar Spain's welcome in to do vault daily presented by jing Jack.com and fueled by brass tax coffee.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's Thursday, October 15th, getting ready to head out to London.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm your host Jordan Delugo.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: We've got Jaguars and Texans.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: We've got matchups to watch in this game.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think it is it's a game in which you know, the Jaguars for for them it's certainly not a must win, but it is a pivot point in this 2026 AFC South race because the Texans, they're one and four
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars have the chance to bury the Texans who have had an effective passing attack this year.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: CJ Stroud has been very effective.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: Their run defense has been excellent the last three weeks, but despite that, they are still one and four.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: If the Jaguars are able to win this game,
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: and put the Texans down at 1 in 5, it is going to be very difficult, nearly impossible, and all likelihood for the Texans to be able to catch up with the Jaguars, as both teams have favorable schedules moving forward.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to get into matchups to watch.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited for it.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all being here.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that high button.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: So my first matchup to watch is Jaguars,
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: Versus Jaguars, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: The pre-snap operation must get cleaned up.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars have been one of the most effective red zone teams in the NFL this year on the offense and even the side of the ball, but on the offensive side, the red zone attack fell apart a little bit last week when the Jaguars got to the one you are lying multiple times because of, in my opinion, pre-snap operation.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: The pre-snap operation when the Jaguars have been away from Jacksonville has been difficult because they have a very complex offense.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: They have a lot of verbiage, the calls are long and Liam Cohen took that upon himself this week, you know, kind of taking the blame for that saying he needs to get the calls to Trevor Lawrence quicker, he needs to have less verbiage and overall just needs to communicate more effectively so the pre-snap operation does not.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_00]: Forced the Jaguars to take timeouts, forced the Jaguars to take delay of games, and just make the offense uncomfortable.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: You want to be settled when you snap the ball and when the play clock is getting down to five, four, three, two.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: You want to be ready to go instead of kind of scrambling, and so the pre-snop operation is huge for the Jaguars, and
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: Last week, it was basically a road game for the Jaguars.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: The Eagles fans were loud, they were raucous, they were everywhere.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: Will that be the same case this week when the Jaguars play the Texans in London?
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think so, but that does remain to be seen.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: You just don't know exactly how that will play out when you're playing in a neutral sight.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: for all intents and purposes, and so the Jack Wars, if it is loud, if it is raucous when they're on offense, they need to be much, much cleaner, and that's an issue that is kind of facing this team whenever they're not in Jacksonville.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: they've got to get better in that regard.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: And then the offensive penalties in general.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like this has been a heavily penalized offensive last two weeks.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: The first three games they played, they were very clean.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: But holding calls, legal procedures, different things have really kind of haunted the jackwars.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: The last couple weeks and they're going to need to clean that up in a big way.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: If they can clean that up, there is no reason the Jaguar's offense can't move the ball.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: Against the Texans, secondary, that has just not been as good as you would have expected heading into this 2026 season.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: flipping sides of the ball.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars in coverage against CJ Straud, Nico Collins, these Texans receiver as Marvin Harrison Jr. coming over tanked out potentially returning.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars in man coverage, versus the Texans receivers, specifically Nico Collins and Marvin Harrison Jr. is going to be really interesting.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: the jacks have played more man this year than they had in 2025.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's been up and down.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: Overall, Travis Hunter has been excellent in man coverage.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: Jarian Jones has been pretty solid in man coverage, but Buster Brown has struggled in man, and that was the book on him coming in.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: He is a specialized zone corner who struggles in man-to-man situations, especially like when you saw last week.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: He couldn't get hands when he was pressed up against Darious Cooper couldn't disrupt the route at the beginning and then could not keep up with Darious Cooper down the field.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars have to be able to, if they get in these man coverage looks in key situations, they have to be able to execute better than they did against the Eagles last week.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: The Eagles were able to eat up the Jaguars on third and long in the first half against man coverage.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: You cannot allow that to happen again.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: For me, if I'm Anthony Campanile, I'm mixing in less man coverage, then I did last week, less man coverage, then I have for a lot of this season, simply because I don't, I don't have the faith, the trust in a bus to Brown to be able to execute that way.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_00]: Now, bus to Brown did not practice on Wednesday, he's dealing with a hamstring injury.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: Well, he even play.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: That remains to be seen.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: And if you have Travis Hunter and Jarian Jones as your outside corners with Jordan Lewis and Nickel, maybe you feel a little bit more comfortable.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: in those man coverage looks, but even those guys had some struggles in man coverage last week.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars zones though, even if they do run more man coverage, the Jaguars will primarily be in zone defense.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars zone defense against CJ Strowd can't even force an interception.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: CJ Strowd has not thrown an interception yet this year.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: Can you be the first team to pick off?
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: CJ Stroud.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars, I think they are going to make the Texans one dimensional.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they're going to be able to stop the run.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: The Texans have not been a good rushing team this year, and the Jaguars have by far the best run defense and football.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: So make them one dimensional, make CJ Stroud a little uncomfortable, compress the pocket, can you force him in these zone looks where you have eyes on the quarterback and make him make a throw or two that he wants back.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: in a big way as well.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: And then flipping back to the Jaguar's offensive side of the ball, Walker Little, he's going to be starting for Anton Harrison in this game.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: Anton Harrison's going to be out, you know, three to five weeks at least.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to have to wait to see when he's going to be able to get back.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: If he's able to get back, based on what happens in surgery next week, Arthur Scropic, knee surgery, it could be three to five game absence.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: It could be a season-ender for ants on Harrison, but Walker little going up against a kneel hunter.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's the matchup.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of people talk about Walker little versus Will Anderson, but really Will Anderson aligns more on the defensive left side, the offensive right side.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: So that's gonna be Colvin Laneon, first wheel Anderson.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: That's obviously a matchup to watch too, because Colvin Laneon has not been performing quite as well as you would hope for, obviously coming off in the injury.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: You get why he hasn't been at his very best, but it's still something where that's gonna be a matchup to watch, but the one that's more concerning is Walker little being out there who has played well this year when he's had to enter the game.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: He's played in two games and done a good job, but when you talk about,
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: Walker Little versus Daniel Hunter, that was an absolute mismatch in favor of the Texans last year when the Texans were able to come from behind and beat the Jaguars and embarrassing loss for the Jaguars, but you're going to see more of Will Anderson on the defense of left side offensive right side.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to see a lot of Daniel Hunter versus Walker Little.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: Can he get hands-on, undenial hunter?
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: Can the Jaguar's help walk her a little out?
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: I do think the Jaguars are running a lot more 12 and 13 personnel combined this year.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: Can you get chip help?
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: Can you get a running back helping?
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: Can you just help walk her a little settle in and feel a little bit more comfortable against the Neil Hunter than what was happening last year?
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's going to go a long way as a match-up to watch in this one.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, Parker Washington vs. the Texan Secondary, Derek Stingley still playing very, very good football.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: But you have Kamari Lassider in a little bit of a slump it feels like you have read blank and ship not playing as well.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: You're likely if you're the Texans without Jalen Petrie, who's one of your best players as well.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: So I think Parker Washington has a chance to really go off against the Texan secondary, working when he's not against Derek Stingley, vertically working middle of the field, intermediate and deep, and obviously getting him the ball quickly and having
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: him make guys miss having Jacobi Myers and the rest of those guys out there blocking for him.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think it could be a very big Parker Washington day.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Myers is also going to be key for the Jaguars and this one.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: If you can get anything from BTJ as a receiver that's going to be huge as well and I think Britain's strange needs to be a focal point as he has been in recent games.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars run game versus the Texans defense,
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: That's a big match up.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: The Texan defense has done well the last three weeks stopping the run really well.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: The first couple games they were allowing James Cook to have a decent day, allowing Chase Brown to have a decent day, but can the jag wars just steadily run the ball.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to be picking up huge chunks.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: You just got to keep the offense on track, right?
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: And part of that,
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: is not getting called for holding penalties.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars got called for holds over and over and over again.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: Against the Eagles last week, they've got to be able to block without getting called for holding because even if you're only picking up two or three yards, you're keeping the offense on schedule, not putting them back tin yards, right, with a holding call.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: So that's going to be critical.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: And then
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: Can Jacob Bob and Moira get the job done as the Jaguars new long snapper this week.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: Ross Mattisick is not going to be out long term, was not placed on injured reserve, but he's not going to be able to play this week.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: Can Bob and Moira come in and do the job for the Jaguars here as a replacement long snapper.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of experience in the league, he's played a lot.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: he's done a good job overall for the most part, he's also been a contributor, you know, going down and getting tackles on on punt.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: So can that be not a weakness for the Jaguar as this week is going to be a huge, huge question mark for me.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to do it for this one.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit that high button.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: You all have great one.
