- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Welcome to Delving Deeper with Oleander Hawthorne and Very hot, Delphin Alandra.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: We are currently at Goodnight's Encampment.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: We will put the link in the description.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: It's a wonderful place.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Everyone should come here.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: A great place.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: However, the temperature out today is bonkers hot.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Bonkers hot, about 30 degrees, and uh we're all Celsius.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: We're Canadian.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: We're deal with it.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: So uh yeah, we're a little on the roasty side, but there is a bit of a breeze outside, which is quite nice.
- 1:02SPEAKER_01: So don't mind if we're fanning a little bit.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: Uh fanning.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: We want to talk about episode five, which was Giants at the Gates.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Giants at the Gates.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: I thought it was Enemies at the Gates.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: No, I called it Giants at the Gates as a play on Enemies with the Gates.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: Giants.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: I name the episodes.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: Often with input, but I do name it.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: She does choke, she does choose the episode names, so uh that credit goes to her.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: I'm choking on water now.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: Well we're good.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: We're we're we're good.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: It's really good.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: I joke on my spit, she chokes on actual foods.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: I'm having water right now.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: I have not been drinking water up until this point.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Someone is a mom and maybe drink water.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: Somebody's gotta care for people, and that's what Oleander does.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: She tries to take care of everybody.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: The gin's coming out later.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: She also tries to encourage people for gin and tonics with a slice of lime, a little elder flower syrup.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: I don't have any elder flower syrup.
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: I do have the lime, I do have some really nice tonic, and I have really nice, hopefully, I haven't tried it yet, expensive gin.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, I should have brought the elder flower syrup.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: I have Banff gin.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: It's from Banff.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: So more Canadian.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: It's called Flora and Fauna, and I'm very excited and I hope it tastes really good.
- 2:14SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: So, enemy no, Giants at the Gates.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: Giants at the Gates.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Enemies within is next.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Enemies within.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: That's why I keep saying enemies, is because of the next episode.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Now, the a battle's a battle.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: It was a highlight.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: It was a good battle.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: Um the main highlights of it are, you know, Drax.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: Mr.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Drax was MVP.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: And Mr.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: Drax, yeah.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: I got to use Chain Lightning again for the first time, and I love that spell.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: And I got to screw things up with Plant Grove, which I enjoyed.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: No, that's why Mr.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: Drax is MVP.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: It's because he kept he kept Palmer Simpsoning into the Plant Grove.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: I liked that.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: So it couldn't.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's great.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: Um, we had a little problem with Mandat.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: We had a little problem with Mandat, but it brought up a key feature is that when Matt when Mandat first came along, he was a threat.
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: He was definitely a problem.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: Everybody was scared when Mandat came out.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: And this episode actually showed that that is no longer the case.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: We can now go to sleep him pretty good.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: It's not that much of a problem.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Go to sleep, little leech.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Go to sleep, little leech.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: Go sleep, go sleep, go sleep, go sleep.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: With Drax.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: And uh, so it was funny.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: So during this entire time so far, um, since Einar and Oleander had become snaxidents uh and gone in vampy mode, they had an agreement that nobody else knew about because you know they dealt with it themselves, that if if Einar went man bat, Oleander would go vamp in order to shield everyone else to like play interference.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: It's okay, I'll manbat's not in control of who he attacks.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's completely out of control.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: There are other people here camping with us.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Enjoy the ambiance.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: Much ambiance, uh including squeaky carts, which is cute actually.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: Um they do sound like birds.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: So that agreement has held into place.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: Every time Einar has become Mandat, Foleyander has gone vamp mode.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: But this time, I didn't actually get to him as soon as I intended.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: I kept getting sidetracked, trying to deal with uh very unsuccessful attacks.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: To first get him, but then he came on our side of the wall.
- 4:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we kind of did like a shuffle a bit because I was trying to get rid of the because I did a wall of force to keep the giant, like to slow the giants down, because there's a shit ton of giants.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I was trying to deal with some giant giants with Drax, and I bit Drax and surprise! I'm like, just go with it, man.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: Uh, but I didn't I I kept rolling so badly because that's what I do.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: And then by the time I finally get to Einar, to Mr.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: Man Bat, there's like he was essentially he was essentially out for the count.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: Like I got one failed attack in and I think I mind slivered him.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: I mind slivered him to make him like vulnerable to saving throws.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: And I can't remember if Druken did something, but I know Drax basically punched him in the face until he fell asleep.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you got him, Druken, I think, got him at least once.
- 5:37SPEAKER_01: But then, yeah, Drax came in and just boom, boom, boom, boom, balls brought hit the face many times until he was out.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: And so that brought out this big shift of oh, wait a second, we don't need to actually be that scared of Mambat anymore.
- 5:54SPEAKER_01: And uh it it really changed the narrative.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Guess whether that fly was gonna fly in front of the screen.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: It would have been funny.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: We got a little fly buzzing around trying to get bugs here.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: Fireflies last night were great.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: They were so cute.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: They showed us their butt.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: Did they show us their butts?
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: I've never seen fireflies other than here.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: In Alberta, it's I mean, I know that.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: I didn't even know we have them.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: I know that they exist, I just never see them.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: So it was nice to see them.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, there's the fly.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: You guys might have gotten a quick glimpse of it.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: Is there is there anything else that um Well, the end is the intro of Ventor.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: The yes, the end is the intro of Ventor when there is the huge debate that I like to um I like to slightly troll somebody of, you know, why on earth would you not have a conversation in a previous delving deeper about someone being easily baited by the DM?
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: I am easily baited by her.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: And some others.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: But definitely I take it as well.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: No.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: But so the gist, I and if you give no context, would you save somebody, save a, save an unknown creature, or would you let it die?
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: Even I'm everyone out of context is going to say, yeah, of course I'm gonna save this.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Uh Jeffrey, or what did they call him?
- 7:23unknown: I don't remember.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: I can't remember.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: I don't remember.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Jeremy?
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: It was a J.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: It was a J name.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: Anyways, everybody's gonna say that they're gonna save him.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: I don't remember it literally.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: It's 20 minutes ago.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: But then you give a little bit of context, and everybody is still.
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: Well, it's an unknown creature.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: It's on something evil, so but but the creature itself on it is unknown.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: I do have I do have a point to say about that.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: That I like giving very little context to people.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: You do like giving them very little context.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: No, it's not, it's not even about the debate of that.
- 7:57SPEAKER_01: It's Delphina's a cautious person, she's always going to advise caution.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: Part of my irritation, metagame, because this is a metagame discussion.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: It is a metagame discussion.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: Part of my irritation in that episode is there was an out-of-game metagame discussion about just using my investigation role for everything.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: And I got irritated about that because people were A complaining about the fact that I had a good investigation role, and then B hypocritically saying, well, we'll just use her investigation role for everything.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: I'm like, no, you've got this covered.
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: You investigate it.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: You fucking look at it.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: You're bitching about my investigation role?
- 8:35SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: I have high intelligence.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: I knew I wasn't gonna be the good perceptive one.
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: I put it into investigation.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: I apologize.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: You're mad that I'm the one who's getting the good investigation roles.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: I have plus 10 to investigation.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: Deal with it.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: Some people do get a little salty that she's the one who finds everything.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: So that can be a bit of a sticking point when people complain.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: So that's why they're like, you know what?
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: You're looking at the dark the giant.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: I'm over here looking at these giants.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: You go look at that giant.
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: I did almost say dragon.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: I did almost say dragon.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: That's later.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: So when we do go and find the dead giant, and we decide, Einar and I decide to save the unknown creature that was an ink.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: And it was very similar to the ink that Einar is raising.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: There was some baiting by a DM.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: By a DM, yes.
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: But he also didn't see this coming.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: Have you guys ever done something?
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: I don't know how he did not be coming.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: How did he not see God?
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: Stu.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: I knew that was gonna happen.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: Everyone who knows, if if he had thought about it for a fraction of a moment, he would have ignored he would have known exactly what Einar and Oleander would have done.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: He's known us almost our whole lives.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: He would know what we do in real life.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: In real life, he's known us almost our whole lives.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: And for some reason, it surprised him when we decided to heal the giant, take the ink, I will admit, and then kill the giant again.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: That was actually kind of clever to heal than kill him.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: Because we then later utilized that in strategy with another thing that had an ink on it.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: So it was it it's a funny tactic that we have developed, and uh I'm I'm quite pleased that I did that.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: Um, it's not very often that I get to surprise RDM.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: Results may vary.
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: Results may vary.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: However, along with the would you save this unknown creature?
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: Now, some of us are cautious, some of us are optimistic.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: Very cautious person here.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: Now, things did not go as planned.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: And that's a discussion for episode six.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: That is a discussion for episode six.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: All I can say is Oleander's mind is completely changed.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: Well Leander's been through some shit.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: A lot of shit.
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: We all have, but you particularly.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: So, anyways, thank you guys very much for joining us for Delving Deeper with Delphine, Delphine and Oleander.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Uh Delving Deeper is our Medicaid discussions where we get to talk about the sessions or characters, things that have happened, or just basically asking each other, what the hell were you thinking?
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: Coming to you from Good Nights, Medieval Encampment in Alberta.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: Everyone should check it out, it's fabulous.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: Come and see it.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: It's wonderful.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: The most fun.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Good night, everybody.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Nights with a cake.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Yes, good canigates.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: Caniggets, good canigates.
