The gutting of the Voting Rights Act opened the door to racist gerrymandering and boy, the confederacy did not hesitate. In fact, fewer things have ever been done so fast in politics. This attitude is also reflected in society where Republicans everywhere are rushing to declare their racism loudly. The pushback has also been fierce and even some former Trump voters don’t have the stomach for it. The last gasp of the confederacy is here, will we do the right thing and end it forever this time?
