Transcript
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Hello, Christians.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: This is Dallas Beacham.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Stand by for good news.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: For nearly 2,000 years, men have argued, divided, marched, preached, voted, ruled, and even died over one question.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Who has the final word?
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Not just in government, not just in courts, not just in church councils, but in the soul of man.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Who has the right to tell a sinner what truth is?
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Who has the right to bind the conscience?
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Who has the right to say this is the way?
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Walk you in it?
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Through the centuries many voices have tried to claim that place.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Kings have claimed it, popes have claimed it, councils have claimed it, traditions have claimed it.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Scholars have claimed it, the crowds claim it.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: And sometimes, if we're honest, each one of us has tried to claim it for ourselves.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: But the Word of God asks a deeper question.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Has God spoken?
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: And if God has spoken, then no man, no office, no institution, no majority, no age has the right to stand above what God has said.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: That was the thunder behind the Reformation movement.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: That was the fire in Luther's stand.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: That was the courage in Tyndall's translation.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: That was the blood of the martyr's witness.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: They were not merely fighting Rome.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: They were fighting for the right of God's word to be heard without chains.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: And Christians?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: That question has not gone away.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: The battle today is still over authority.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Will the church stand under Scripture or will Scripture be forced to stand under the church?
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Will the Bible correct us or will we correct the Bible?
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Will God's word govern our doctrine, our worship, our conscience and our life?
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Or will we use the word only when it agrees with what we already want?
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: The good news is this.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: God has not left his people guessing.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: He has spoken.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: His word is not hidden in heaven unreachable.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: It is not chained to a pulpit, it is not locked behind a priest.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: It is open before us, living and powerful, calling the church back to the voice of God.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: So the question for this generation is not whether God has spoken, He has.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: The question is, will we bow to His Word?
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: Scripture first means God has the final word, not the crowd, not the priest, not the state, not tradition, not even you or me.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: God has spoken and He has the final word.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: And when God has the final word, confusion loses its throne.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Listen tomorrow for the continuation of this message.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: I hope this message today has touched your heart and causes you to have a good day.
