- 0:09Speaker 1: and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 0:42Speaker 3: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 0:43Speaker 4: I am Brian.
- 0:44Speaker 3: This is Roger.
- 0:45Speaker 5: I'm Joni.
- 0:45Speaker 6: Marlena.
- 0:47Speaker 7: All right. Joni. I got so excited.
- 1:06Speaker 3: She's also raising her hand emphatically right now. Call on me,
- 1:10Speaker 3: call on me. Pick me. I wonder why she ran
- 1:14Speaker 3: to the head of the clock. She's got to get
- 1:16Speaker 3: the front desk. So, yes, Misty and Jay are on
- 1:23Speaker 3: vacation this week.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Do they actually go anywhere? Are they, like, on that
- 1:26Speaker 2: vacation where they're just at home? Staycation?
- 1:29Speaker 3: Staycation. My whole life's a staycation.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Vacation on the couch.
- 1:33Speaker 3: No, last I heard, they were heading to Florida, so
- 1:35Speaker 3: they're basking in the oily goodness that is the Florida
- 1:38Speaker 3: Gulf Beach.
- 1:39Speaker 2: God, yeah. Fresh.
- 1:42Speaker 3: They picked a great time to do that.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Is it still pumping oil billions of gallons every day
- 1:46Speaker 2: into the ocean?
- 1:47Speaker 3: I think so.
- 1:47Speaker 2: We still cannot, in all of our infinite wisdom as
- 1:49Speaker 2: human beings on this planet, cannot figure it out?
- 1:52Speaker 7: Like, stop it.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Has nobody thought of a giant cork? I mean, come on. Really?
- 1:57Speaker 2: It's that basic. Didn't they think of it? I was
- 2:01Speaker 2: at work, and Darren at work showed me on his iPhone.
- 2:04Speaker 2: It was like a parody, you know?
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:06Speaker 2: It was like... whatever the, the corporate office or whatever
- 2:11Speaker 2: at BP and the guys are like, okay, what are
- 2:14Speaker 2: we going to do about this bill or whatever? And
- 2:15Speaker 2: one person spills some coffee and they're like, Oh my God, wait, okay,
- 2:18Speaker 2: what are we going to do?
- 2:19Speaker 7: You know?
- 2:19Speaker 2: And it just hasn't been doing the most asinine thing
- 2:22Speaker 2: to clean up this coffee. And they're like, throw garbage
- 2:24Speaker 2: on it and stuff. And it was hilarious. And it's like,
- 2:26Speaker 2: so true. Like, Oh God, it was funny and sad
- 2:30Speaker 2: at the same time.
- 2:31Speaker 3: A little too realistic, but it was good. I was like,
- 2:34Speaker 3: ha ha ha.
- 2:34Speaker 6: Nice.
- 2:36Speaker 3: It's funny because it's true.
- 2:37Speaker 2: It's funny because it's true, and my tears are mixing with.
- 2:40Speaker 6: Oil.
- 2:40Speaker 8: Oil.
- 2:42Speaker 3: That will soon drown us all.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Yeah, really. So, well, hopefully they have a good time
- 2:46Speaker 2: and are safe in Florida.
- 2:48Speaker 3: But, you know, they're missing out.
- 2:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Because that's the specific time, and some of it by design.
- 2:53Speaker 3: I decided to do our new series here, our epic trilogy,
- 2:58Speaker 3: if you will.
- 2:59Speaker 6: Yes.
- 2:59Speaker 3: We're kicking off Greedo Bloody Greedo. Yeah, it's okay.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Nobody cares.
- 3:10Speaker 8: That only meant something to you.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Yeah, is that the guy who has done these movies?
- 3:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I addressed this last week because I specifically got
- 3:19Speaker 3: Graham to rant about Greedo last week to kick it off.
- 3:22Speaker 3: But yeah, this week we're starting one of three, and
- 3:26Speaker 3: I found a fourth one I might throw in there
- 3:28Speaker 3: that I'll watch, but there's three epic ones I decided
- 3:31Speaker 3: we would watch that are all starring Maria de Aragon.
- 3:35Speaker 3: who is the actress that played Greedo. So first of all,
- 3:40Speaker 3: I was amazed years later when I was like, dude,
- 3:42Speaker 3: Greedo's a chick?
- 3:44Speaker 9: Yeah, really.
- 3:44Speaker 3: And then I found out she's in all these very
- 3:47Speaker 3: special movies from back in the day. Does she sound
- 3:49Speaker 3: the same? She doesn't talk like that, unless does Greedo
- 3:54Speaker 3: have a Canadian accent?
- 3:56Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 3:57Speaker 3: She was actually born here, but she lived a good
- 3:59Speaker 3: portion of her life in Canada.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:02Speaker 6: But, yeah.
- 4:02Speaker 3: Not her fault.
- 4:03Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 4:04Speaker 2: She's forgiven.
- 4:05Speaker 3: She's got dual citizenship. Yeah. She rocks both sides of this.
- 4:08Speaker 2: She just goes over the border when she needs, like,
- 4:09Speaker 2: medical assistance or something.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Or maple syrup.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Or really good weed. Ooh, maple syrup. Or really good weed.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Yeah. Wow. So, yes. I thought that was a good
- 4:17Speaker 3: way to find some of these choice movies of hers.
- 4:21Speaker 3: And we're going to talk to her later in this episode. So, yes.
- 4:24Speaker 10: Maria.
- 4:25Speaker 3: She's actually really nice.
- 4:28Speaker 6: Okay.
- 4:28Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 3: An interesting woman and quite a career, I have to say.
- 4:31Speaker 3: With that being said, we'll kick off our normal activities
- 4:37Speaker 3: of the geek variety, I suppose.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Geek Week.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Geek Week it is.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Let's see. Geek Week. We didn't really do anything. Waterworld.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Besides Waterworld today. Waterworld falling asleep to Waterworld last night.
- 4:50Speaker 11: Dorks.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Waking up in early morning hours with Waterworld still on.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Not like it's looping, but it's still just playing. And
- 4:59Speaker 2: I'll say that I like Waterworld. I have a good
- 5:02Speaker 2: time with it because Dennis Hopper's freaking amazing. What was
- 5:05Speaker 2: it what he say he's like? He's not going to
- 5:07Speaker 2: come and save you. Or if he does, he can
- 5:09Speaker 2: save whatever's left of you in a goddamn jar. You
- 5:12Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 5:14Speaker 1: It's like, what?
- 5:15Speaker 2: God, he's so awesome in that movie. He's like the
- 5:17Speaker 2: best thing about that movie. Yeah, that's easily. And I
- 5:21Speaker 2: remember way back in the day when Waterworld was, I
- 5:24Speaker 2: don't know the statistics, but it was like the most
- 5:26Speaker 2: expensive movie ever freaking made.
- 5:28Speaker 3: It really was at that time. And then you start
- 5:30Speaker 3: to realize, like, if you stop and think about it,
- 5:32Speaker 3: because that's the thing, when I look at it now,
- 5:33Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, it's kind of a train wreck in
- 5:35Speaker 3: its own right, but... I'm still amazed at it because.
- 5:38Speaker 2: The set, yeah. They built all that.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, because you think about it. I mean,
- 5:42Speaker 3: there is no land in this movie. So, I mean,
- 5:45Speaker 3: every set that they build, every shot that they shoot,
- 5:48Speaker 3: they have to go miles out to sea so that
- 5:52Speaker 3: you can't see land just to shoot whatever lame coverage
- 5:55Speaker 3: they have to do that day. I mean, think how
- 5:56Speaker 3: much money. There's a reason that thing costs so damn
- 5:59Speaker 3: much money.
- 6:00Speaker 2: But I think it looks good, and it's a good time.
- 6:03Speaker 2: It's one of those guilty pleasures, you know? It's like...
- 6:05Speaker 2: Because you'll say Waterworld, and instantly people are like, oh, Jesus, Waterworld.
- 6:08Speaker 2: But secretly, a lot of them are like, yeah, that
- 6:11Speaker 2: was actually.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Remember that part?
- 6:12Speaker 2: Maybe we'll watch it. Yeah, remember that part?
- 6:14Speaker 3: The part where the Jets see Scooch out of there.
- 6:16Speaker 3: That part's awesome.
- 6:17Speaker 2: They're all underwater and shit, and they fucking cut their
- 6:19Speaker 2: toe lines, and they come popping up, and they're like... Dude,
- 6:22Speaker 2: he's got gills.
- 6:23Speaker 8: I feel like I need to watch this movie because
- 6:25Speaker 8: I have no idea what you're doing.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Really? Oh, yeah.
- 6:27Speaker 2: It's a good time. I'll watch it for the show.
- 6:30Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Yeah, shit, let's do it.
- 6:32Speaker 3: I have no pride. What do I care?
- 6:35Speaker 7: The little girl, or the girl from Napoleon Dynamite.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it was the little, little girl.
- 6:40Speaker 8: She was also in that movie about the seal.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Andre.
- 6:43Speaker 7: Yeah, it was the first thing I said. I was like,
- 6:45Speaker 7: she's in Andre.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Okay, it's about a seal. I thought it was like,
- 6:47Speaker 2: you know, like a partially mentally challenged child in high school.
- 6:51Speaker 2: One of those movies. Andre, a heartwarming tale about diversity.
- 6:56Speaker 3: That was Angus.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, that's it.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Which actually is a pretty good movie.
- 6:59Speaker 8: I love that movie. That movie made me cry.
- 7:01Speaker 12: Yep.
- 7:02Speaker 8: When his grandpa died.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Oh, you ruined it for me.
- 7:05Speaker 3: I'm sorry. Spoilers, man.
- 7:10Speaker 8: Well, that was my first boyfriend's favorite movie, and he
- 7:14Speaker 8: used to make me watch it all the time. And
- 7:16Speaker 8: he would cry at the end.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Every single time. The grandpa died.
- 7:19Speaker 8: No matter how much he watched it.
- 7:21Speaker 2: He's like, shh, baby, shh, here it comes.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Some movies do that.
- 7:24Speaker 8: His whole family had a weird problem with watching and
- 7:28Speaker 8: re-watching movies over and over. Every morning before his dad
- 7:30Speaker 8: went to work, he'd watch The 13th Warrior.
- 7:32Speaker 2: That's a good movie, though.
- 7:34Speaker 3: But every morning?
- 7:35Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure every morning is too much.
- 7:37Speaker 8: I did that when I was five with Beauty and
- 7:39Speaker 8: the Beast. Kids do that, but adults shouldn't do that.
- 7:42Speaker 8: And one summer, he and his sister, two to three
- 7:45Speaker 8: times a day, would watch Don't Tell Mom, The Babysitter's Tale.
- 7:48Speaker 3: Okay, that is an awesome movie.
- 7:49Speaker 7: Over and over.
- 7:50Speaker 8: It is an awesome movie.
- 7:50Speaker 3: We're going to watch that one, too.
- 7:51Speaker 8: Yes.
- 7:52Speaker 2: That reminds me of Adventures in Babysitting.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Another awesome.
- 7:55Speaker 8: Babysitting movies are awesome.
- 7:57Speaker 7: Babysitter's Club.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Was there a Babysitter's Club movie?
- 8:00Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 8:01Speaker 2: From Superman.
- 8:02Speaker 6: Oops, sorry.
- 8:02Speaker 3: I'm not supposed to know that.
- 8:03Speaker 12: Oh, yeah.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Wait. That chick who liked the horses was hot.
- 8:07Speaker 2: What about the Hardy Boys? Was there a Hardy Boys book?
- 8:09Speaker 3: It was the whole TV series, but I don't think
- 8:12Speaker 3: they made a full... movie they might have done you
- 8:15Speaker 3: know a tv movie with a two-parter episode or something.
- 8:18Speaker 7: It's on the lifetime channel it's called the life and time.
- 8:22Speaker 2: So you're making shit up yeah so that's pretty much
- 8:26Speaker 2: i think all we.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Did really do you want to tell your other fun.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Stories oh and and then besides doing other things at
- 8:33Speaker 2: work some people like to.
- 8:35Speaker 5: Slice their fingers off um i was at work on
- 8:37Speaker 5: friday night and uh we get this brand new sharpest
- 8:41Speaker 5: shit cheese knife it's huge Yeah, it's like this big,
- 8:45Speaker 5: it's serrated, it's got a hook on the end.
- 8:47Speaker 3: That's like a foot long for you at home.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't see the hand. It's this big. I'm
- 8:52Speaker 2: used to the home game.
- 8:55Speaker 7: So I cut myself, like I was just cutting it
- 8:58Speaker 7: and just going down.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Where you're cutting like a cheese wheel, like hard as hell.
- 9:02Speaker 8: Like in front of someone, like in front of a customer?
- 9:04Speaker 3: No, no, thank God.
- 9:05Speaker 13: Would you like a little thumb with you?
- 9:09Speaker 2: I'll be right back.
- 9:12Speaker 5: But the cheese slipped and the knife went straight out
- 9:15Speaker 5: of my hand. But thank God, you know, my hand
- 9:17Speaker 5: caught it. It didn't hit the cutting board.
- 9:18Speaker 2: It didn't hurt the knife. Thank God.
- 9:20Speaker 7: You know, it's always good.
- 9:21Speaker 3: And the hazmat team rushed in.
- 9:26Speaker 2: It's like in Monsters, Inc.
- 9:27Speaker 7: When they come back with the sock on.
- 9:28Speaker 3: That's right.
- 9:29Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 9:30Speaker 6: Explosions.
- 9:30Speaker 2: It's bad.
- 9:31Speaker 8: They had to.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Make her go to the hospital. Yeah, they made me
- 9:34Speaker 2: go to the hospital.
- 9:35Speaker 3: I didn't want to go.
- 9:36Speaker 2: I was just going to wrap it up.
- 9:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 9:38Speaker 2: And you had your glove on, your little rubber glove.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Like, it's okay. I can still work.
- 9:42Speaker 7: I'm fine.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Apparently, as she's shaking, I'm like.
- 9:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I was trying to clean up after myself because.
- 9:49Speaker 2: There's blood everywhere, right? Blood everywhere.
- 9:51Speaker 3: I get that all the time. I'm holding my hand out,
- 9:53Speaker 3: but I'm like.
- 9:54Speaker 7: cleaning, bleaching everything as I go.
- 9:57Speaker 8: So that's an adventure.
- 9:59Speaker 5: I spent five hours in the hospital for a four
- 10:02Speaker 5: minute stitch yep yeah.
- 10:05Speaker 2: You watch harold kumar well you did watch harold kumar
- 10:08Speaker 2: right in the waiting.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Room No, no, no.
- 10:11Speaker 5: They got me in the, like, room within, like, 30 minutes,
- 10:15Speaker 5: which was good, but it took another.
- 10:17Speaker 7: Four and a half hours.
- 10:18Speaker 6: Of course.
- 10:19Speaker 7: Until I, you know, the doctor came in for five seconds.
- 10:21Speaker 7: He's like, okay.
- 10:23Speaker 2: So what? Get the fuck out.
- 10:26Speaker 7: Weird thing was, he found out he was from Danville,
- 10:28Speaker 7: which is where I'm from, which was kind of cool.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Yeah. He's been following you around all this time.
- 10:32Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 10:33Speaker 2: So wait for this.
- 10:34Speaker 3: She'll slice her finger off.
- 10:35Speaker 8: There's a song called Danville Girl.
- 10:38Speaker 6: Really?
- 10:38Speaker 8: About It's a bluegrass song, like a really old traditional
- 10:42Speaker 8: bluegrass song.
- 10:42Speaker 6: Word.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I like that.
- 10:47Speaker 3: You have your own theme song now.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yes, definitely.
- 10:51Speaker 3: So we jumped ahead. Do you want to do yours?
- 10:53Speaker 8: Oh, no one is on board with this. I don't
- 10:57Speaker 8: understand it, but I've been... You know, I got Problem
- 11:00Speaker 8: Child from a friend.
- 11:01Speaker 3: I've been fighting it. You've been telling me about this.
- 11:04Speaker 2: It has been so long.
- 11:05Speaker 8: Everyone's like, oh, God. And I'm like, dude, that movie
- 11:08Speaker 8: is awesome.
- 11:09Speaker 2: It is awesome.
- 11:10Speaker 8: I watched it. I was thinking maybe my opinion would
- 11:12Speaker 8: change now that I'm not like nine years old. But no,
- 11:16Speaker 8: that movie rules.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I just have a bias against it. I always have.
- 11:21Speaker 3: I think that kid is just so unattractive I can't
- 11:23Speaker 3: look at him for too long.
- 11:27Speaker 8: I think as far as ginger kids go, he's not
- 11:29Speaker 8: that bad. And he's funny.
- 11:30Speaker 3: But you like ginger kids. I don't know.
- 11:33Speaker 7: I'm a fan of ginger kids and he's kind of scary.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I'm confused. What is a ginger kid?
- 11:40Speaker 7: Ginger is when you have red hair and really pale skin.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Gotcha. I'm on board.
- 11:45Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 11:46Speaker 8: I'm on the fence about ginger kids usually. You know,
- 11:48Speaker 8: it's like, I like.
- 11:49Speaker 7: I find them untrustworthy.
- 11:51Speaker 6: Oh, yeah. Yeah.
- 11:53Speaker 8: All the girls with, like, naturally red hair and freckles
- 11:55Speaker 8: are crazy.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Like, literally. And everyone I've talked to agrees. They're just, like... Touched.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Something's not quite right.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Something happens when you get that way. It also affects
- 12:07Speaker 3: your brain.
- 12:09Speaker 2: There are different chemicals at work.
- 12:10Speaker 5: They actually did a study that the amount of actual
- 12:13Speaker 5: red-headed people.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Is going down. They're becoming extinct.
- 12:16Speaker 7: Yeah, they're becoming extinct.
- 12:19Speaker 3: We're breeding them out of the cycle? Like the dark-haired
- 12:22Speaker 3: genes are overpowering the red-haired genes?
- 12:25Speaker 7: I think it's because it's like a genetic... fluke almost
- 12:28Speaker 7: that's weird not to say that anybody with red hair
- 12:32Speaker 7: and freckles is a fluke or anything.
- 12:34Speaker 11: God loves you just as much as whatever but we
- 12:37Speaker 11: hate you well the retarded we can't say the retard
- 12:41Speaker 11: thing is is like there's apparently ginger kids or whatever
- 12:45Speaker 11: they're up in arms there's a group of them they're
- 12:47Speaker 11: up in.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Arms about the Wendy's girl. And I'm like, really? This
- 12:52Speaker 2: is a big problem that you're protesting? Like, oh, it's
- 12:55Speaker 2: like she's a freaking unreal mascot and you've got a problem? Like,
- 13:00Speaker 2: find something to get behind for real, you losers.
- 13:02Speaker 3: You're going to complain about Wendy but you're going to
- 13:04Speaker 3: let Carrot Top run.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Around the world?
- 13:06Speaker 3: I mean, Jesus. You're going to start with Carrot Top.
- 13:10Speaker 7: I wouldn't want to go again.
- 13:11Speaker 2: No, I bet he's void rages too.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Sniper rifle. That's all you need, man. Don't waste your
- 13:17Speaker 3: time fighting him.
- 13:17Speaker 2: That's what he's pulling out of his trunk yeah that's
- 13:19Speaker 2: weapons you know i.
- 13:20Speaker 8: Feel like people like carrot top and danny bon a
- 13:23Speaker 8: douchebag just ruin it for all their gingers in the
- 13:26Speaker 8: world like it's all their fault i mean maybe if
- 13:28Speaker 8: they weren't so bad then people would realize like oh
- 13:31Speaker 8: you know having red hair and freckles is.
- 13:32Speaker 3: So bad they're bringing down the curve but.
- 13:35Speaker 8: You know see it's like this catch-22 like on the
- 13:37Speaker 8: inside i'm kind of attracted to people with like ginger
- 13:40Speaker 8: features sort of like i like guys with red hair
- 13:43Speaker 8: but i don't like freckles.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Let's put it in perspective you're all about some conan o'brien.
- 13:48Speaker 8: Yeah, but from far away because I don't have to
- 13:50Speaker 8: see his freckles.
- 13:51Speaker 3: That's true. Well, like on the show because he's got
- 13:54Speaker 3: like huge pancake makeup on.
- 13:55Speaker 13: That's true.
- 13:56Speaker 3: That is true. So there you go.
- 13:57Speaker 7: I would like Conan O'Brien's freckles.
- 13:59Speaker 2: All of them. Nice.
- 14:00Speaker 3: All right.
- 14:00Speaker 8: But I mean, you know, like I like guys that
- 14:03Speaker 8: have like strawberry blonde hair and like red beard and
- 14:06Speaker 8: stuff like that, but just not like. freckles i don't
- 14:09Speaker 8: i don't know i can't help it it's a weird
- 14:11Speaker 8: thing it's just a personal preference.
- 14:14Speaker 2: But did the problem child did he ever do anything
- 14:16Speaker 2: with his life after making one and two isn't there
- 14:19Speaker 2: a two yeah there's actually both of them it's like
- 14:21Speaker 2: why did they freaking kill him at the end of the.
- 14:23Speaker 3: First one yeah he was a sequel that's why.
- 14:26Speaker 8: No it was such an awesome movie i mean Michael
- 14:28Speaker 8: Richards is in it, and he's the bow tie killer.
- 14:31Speaker 8: And Junior, which is the kid, he's, like, obsessed with him,
- 14:34Speaker 8: and he wants to be just like him, so he
- 14:36Speaker 8: wears a bow tie. He, like, blows stuff up and
- 14:38Speaker 8: causes all these problems, and he's just, like, a dick.
- 14:41Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 14:41Speaker 2: I just remember him screaming a lot.
- 14:45Speaker 8: No, he didn't scream so much as everybody else that
- 14:47Speaker 8: he would, like, torture. Like, he'd torture little girls, and
- 14:50Speaker 8: they'd scream.
- 14:50Speaker 3: He's the tormentor. Oh, my God.
- 14:52Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 14:52Speaker 8: There's this part in the movie where he— this is my
- 14:54Speaker 8: favorite part, maybe, of any movie ever— But he's at
- 14:57Speaker 8: this stupid little bitch's birthday party.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Fuck her.
- 15:00Speaker 8: And she won't let him see the magic show. She's like,
- 15:03Speaker 8: you can't see the magic show because you're retarded or
- 15:06Speaker 8: something like that. And he was like, oh, yeah, well,
- 15:08Speaker 8: fuck you. But he didn't say that.
- 15:10Speaker 3: He emptied out.
- 15:12Speaker 8: Her pinata and filled it with pickles and then put
- 15:15Speaker 8: a frog in the punch bowl and then threw all
- 15:17Speaker 8: of her presents in the swimming pool. But the whole
- 15:20Speaker 8: time she's dressed like a little flower and she's just
- 15:22Speaker 8: throwing this tantrum and they just play Leslie Gore's It's
- 15:25Speaker 8: My Party and focus on her throwing the tantrum. It's amazing.
- 15:29Speaker 8: It's an amazing cinematic masterpiece right there. But yeah, it
- 15:34Speaker 8: was just a good movie. I mean, I don't know
- 15:36Speaker 8: why people don't like it. Everyone is afraid of that movie.
- 15:39Speaker 8: Everyone's reaction... Which is, I wouldn't be surprised if that kid, like,
- 15:43Speaker 8: killed himself, because people were like, maybe I'd watch that movie,
- 15:46Speaker 8: but that kid is just so ugly and creepy.
- 15:49Speaker 2: That's what I'm wondering, like, what, did he do anything
- 15:51Speaker 2: else with his life after that movie?
- 15:52Speaker 7: No, he didn't.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I looked it up on, uh. Did he get into drugs?
- 15:54Speaker 3: I am BB.
- 15:55Speaker 8: Probably.
- 15:56Speaker 7: From you?
- 15:58Speaker 3: Probably.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:00Speaker 6: Yeah, but, uh.
- 16:01Speaker 8: Amy Yazbeck and John Ritter were in that movie.
- 16:03Speaker 3: So yeah, I really liked John Ritter. I think he
- 16:06Speaker 3: really was talented, especially specifically comedically. I mean, he really
- 16:10Speaker 3: was good at that stuff. So I liked him. He
- 16:13Speaker 3: never really got the respect that he deserved for that
- 16:16Speaker 3: because it was comedy and nobody gives comedy any respect.
- 16:18Speaker 3: But yeah, even that one, it was just such a
- 16:21Speaker 3: hard sell. I was like, I like you, John, but damn,
- 16:23Speaker 3: get rid of that kid.
- 16:24Speaker 2: It was great.
- 16:25Speaker 8: But the thing I like about that movie, which is...
- 16:28Speaker 8: or both of those movies together, Amy Asbeck in the
- 16:31Speaker 8: first one plays his wife. And, you know, she gets, like,
- 16:36Speaker 8: chipped off somewhere. She, like, divorces him and runs away
- 16:38Speaker 8: with a bow tie killer and whatnot.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Don't you hate when that happens?
- 16:41Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 16:42Speaker 8: And the second one, she comes back as a different person.
- 16:45Speaker 8: But they are married in real life, so I guess
- 16:47Speaker 8: that's why.
- 16:47Speaker 3: That's weird.
- 16:48Speaker 8: Yeah, she's in the... Because in the second one, there's
- 16:51Speaker 8: this girl named Trixie who's just, like, junior... but she's
- 16:54Speaker 8: just like the girl version.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Oh, wow. Because you've got to up the ante on
- 16:58Speaker 3: the sequel.
- 16:59Speaker 7: I think she was the little ginger kid, too.
- 17:00Speaker 8: No, she was this ugly, pinchy-faced blonde girl. See, she
- 17:05Speaker 8: was the one I couldn't stand because her face was
- 17:07Speaker 8: so pinchy, like a little ugly dog or something. I
- 17:12Speaker 8: hate people with pinchy faces.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Oh, Lord. So is that most of yours?
- 17:19Speaker 8: Uh yeah i started to watch robots i mean i
- 17:23Speaker 8: tried to watch two movies and everyone else in the
- 17:25Speaker 8: room was very drunk this was at five o'clock in
- 17:28Speaker 8: the morning and they'd all been drinking since like five
- 17:30Speaker 8: o'clock in the evening.
- 17:31Speaker 3: This is why i avoid the circumstances.
- 17:34Speaker 8: Yeah so i tried to watch the movie robots and
- 17:38Speaker 8: i don't know i said something really stupid and people
- 17:41Speaker 8: couldn't handle it after that i was like Get the
- 17:43Speaker 8: fuck over it, kid. Your dad's just a lonely dishwasher.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Nice.
- 17:47Speaker 8: I thought that was so hilarious, which it wasn't even
- 17:49Speaker 8: that funny.
- 17:50Speaker 3: It's harsh.
- 17:53Speaker 8: Like in a circle, the three people I was watching
- 17:55Speaker 8: the movie with, they just kept repeating that over and over.
- 17:57Speaker 8: Like parrots. And I was like, okay, let's watch Hot
- 18:00Speaker 8: Tub Time Machine instead. And then, of course, we couldn't
- 18:02Speaker 8: get through that because they all passed out.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Of course. I want to see that.
- 18:06Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 18:08Speaker 8: That was pretty much it.
- 18:10Speaker 3: All right. Well, just to mix it up, because we
- 18:12Speaker 3: started after me this time, so I'll round it out
- 18:15Speaker 3: this week. Yeah, mine has a nice serial killer feel
- 18:19Speaker 3: to it. Not that I don't always have a serial
- 18:21Speaker 3: killer vibe anyway, but all week they were running their little...
- 18:27Speaker 3: I don't know if it was just like to catch
- 18:28Speaker 3: up on when they read. They're going through Dexter all
- 18:31Speaker 3: week long on Showtime. So like every night they're cranking
- 18:33Speaker 3: out like three episodes in a row. So I watched
- 18:35Speaker 3: a good portion of it. And I was trying to
- 18:37Speaker 3: figure out what season it was because it's like I'm
- 18:39Speaker 3: missing the middle ones. So that's why I was trying
- 18:41Speaker 3: to go and watch these because I've seen the first
- 18:43Speaker 3: and the last one. And I'm trying to catch up
- 18:44Speaker 3: on the middle one. So I think they were in
- 18:46Speaker 3: the middle of the third season.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 18:48Speaker 3: It was interesting because, yeah, there were people that weren't
- 18:50Speaker 3: in the fourth one, and I'm trying to figure out
- 18:52Speaker 3: what happened to them. And, yeah, they revealed that. It
- 18:54Speaker 3: was quite an interesting little twist along the way. So, yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 3: that was cool. And not even on purpose, just because
- 19:00Speaker 3: it fell on the same weekend, I ended up watching
- 19:03Speaker 3: the Dahmer movie.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Oh, God, it's messed up.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Which I didn't even end up finishing. I still need
- 19:07Speaker 3: to go back and watch it to give you the
- 19:09Speaker 3: full rundown. But that's the one with Jeremy Renner in it.
- 19:12Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 19:13Speaker 3: I don't know if it's just because now I know
- 19:15Speaker 3: who he is from The Hurt Locker, but I can't
- 19:16Speaker 3: see him as Dahmer. I just see him as Jeremy
- 19:19Speaker 3: Renner now, and I don't know if I would have
- 19:21Speaker 3: watched it. two years ago if it would sit differently
- 19:23Speaker 3: with you. It did.
- 19:25Speaker 2: When I saw it, it was when it just came out,
- 19:27Speaker 2: and I didn't know who the guy was. Well, how
- 19:30Speaker 2: do you feel about him as Dahmer?
- 19:32Speaker 3: That was the thing. I think he's a good actor.
- 19:34Speaker 3: I just can't.
- 19:35Speaker 2: You didn't buy it?
- 19:36Speaker 6: Well, no.
- 19:37Speaker 3: I just can't see him as that. I'm watching him
- 19:39Speaker 3: as this crazy guy and this serial killer, but I'm
- 19:42Speaker 3: not meshing the two. I'm not connecting it with, oh,
- 19:46Speaker 3: and that's Dahmer. The part that was really weird is, again,
- 19:48Speaker 3: I'm just kind of watching that first half. and to
- 19:50Speaker 3: make these kind of movies really does cross a creepy
- 19:53Speaker 3: line because the things that are going on these are
- 19:57Speaker 3: real people yeah like yeah I mean that because I
- 19:59Speaker 3: know people like got really upset when they started doing
- 20:01Speaker 3: some of the other ones like all these Casey the
- 20:04Speaker 3: uh what's the Dean and No, it's the.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Bundy.
- 20:07Speaker 3: Yeah, Bundy. Bundy's the one that... I mean, he had
- 20:10Speaker 3: so many girls. I mean, there's all these stories that
- 20:12Speaker 3: are all real girls, and their parents are still out there,
- 20:15Speaker 3: and their families are still out there, and it's kind
- 20:18Speaker 3: of weird to sit there and have this, not just
- 20:21Speaker 3: someone you know being turned into a movie, but someone
- 20:24Speaker 3: that you know is deaf being turned into a movie.
- 20:28Speaker 3: It's kind of a creepy line that they have to
- 20:29Speaker 3: cross when they make these movies.
- 20:30Speaker 2: And they're not easy to watch because... yeah these are
- 20:33Speaker 2: real people yeah this is you know pretty much what
- 20:36Speaker 2: happened and it's just like god it's hard to watch
- 20:39Speaker 2: like it was really hard for me to get through
- 20:41Speaker 2: Ted Bundy and of course Gacy and Dahmer just cause
- 20:45Speaker 2: of like you know what he's doing to these people
- 20:47Speaker 2: like oh my god and Geinman was messed up yeah.
- 20:50Speaker 7: So crazy I watched half of it then I was
- 20:52Speaker 7: like I need to watch.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Cartoons yeah I need something fluffy happiness.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Yeah so it yeah it's like It's definitely different than watching, like,
- 21:03Speaker 3: Silence of the Lambs. You know, it's the same type
- 21:06Speaker 3: of thing, but it's a fictionalized version, and it's just
- 21:09Speaker 3: stealing from these stories, but it's not like the actual
- 21:12Speaker 3: hands-on account that... Because that whole series that they did
- 21:15Speaker 3: of these serial killers is very... trying to do a
- 21:18Speaker 3: pretty close version of that story so it's it's kind
- 21:20Speaker 3: of weird that yeah they're it's a little too close
- 21:23Speaker 3: sometimes to be a fun movie it is it does make.
- 21:26Speaker 10: It sort of a hard watch i was really palatable
- 21:28Speaker 10: anyways but you know i was kind of definitely this
- 21:31Speaker 10: one because i think i'd watched the uh the bundy
- 21:33Speaker 10: one a while back And I think this I was
- 21:36Speaker 10: more impressed with just visually.
- 21:37Speaker 3: I think it seemed like it had a little bit
- 21:40Speaker 3: better budget to it. Because I remember some of the
- 21:42Speaker 3: other ones, I remember that they were all straight to
- 21:44Speaker 3: DVD and they kind of had a pretty limited budget.
- 21:47Speaker 3: So I was impressed. This one just looked pretty good.
- 21:50Speaker 3: So I was kind of surprised just from that aspect.
- 21:53Speaker 3: They seemed like they put a little more time and
- 21:54Speaker 3: money into it. But yeah, it's still kind of a
- 21:57Speaker 3: weird series of movies.
- 22:01Speaker 8: It's so weird how, I don't know, I don't even think,
- 22:04Speaker 8: I don't think that's ever occurred to me because I'm
- 22:06Speaker 8: just so desensitized to movies and TV shows about serial killers.
- 22:10Speaker 8: It's just like, it doesn't happen very often, but everyone's
- 22:14Speaker 8: just so used to it that when they hear about
- 22:17Speaker 8: a serial killer, no one's even surprised. Like, almost like
- 22:19Speaker 8: it has become so fictional because there's way more movies
- 22:23Speaker 8: and stories about serial killers than there are actual ones.
- 22:26Speaker 8: It's just like... I don't even, I have a hard
- 22:29Speaker 8: time visualizing it as something that's ever been real. Like,
- 22:32Speaker 8: I don't know if that makes any sense or not,
- 22:33Speaker 8: but it's just like.
- 22:34Speaker 3: It does in our society. It's like we really have,
- 22:38Speaker 3: especially since like. 70s on it's like it became it
- 22:42Speaker 3: became we sensationalize them to the point that they were
- 22:46Speaker 3: celebrities they weren't even criminals really they became celebrities and
- 22:50Speaker 3: there's and since then it's weird because now there's this
- 22:53Speaker 3: whole new like generation of kids that have come up
- 22:56Speaker 3: with them having been like a story like they really
- 22:59Speaker 3: are movies so kids that you know are going to
- 23:01Speaker 3: all the horror conventions now. Like, you know, Gein is
- 23:04Speaker 3: like a hero to them now. I mean, it really
- 23:06Speaker 3: is like a, you know, a bedtime story that they
- 23:08Speaker 3: heard as a kid.
- 23:09Speaker 2: People are like bidding the hundreds of thousands of dollars
- 23:12Speaker 2: for Dahmer's refrigerator that he kept the heads in and
- 23:15Speaker 2: shit like that. To where it's like, really?
- 23:17Speaker 9: Like.
- 23:18Speaker 13: there's a whole huge group of people that like just
- 23:21Speaker 13: love the memorabilia love the the connection to it but
- 23:24Speaker 13: i think it is weird because it's almost entered into
- 23:26Speaker 13: this weird situation where it's.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Not real like it really is sort of become this
- 23:31Speaker 3: this like legendary thing but like especially because we went
- 23:34Speaker 3: through that long time like dalmer was about the only
- 23:36Speaker 3: one in recent history all the rest of them were
- 23:38Speaker 3: like 70s and it's like we went through that lull
- 23:40Speaker 3: where it's like None of them really made it to
- 23:42Speaker 3: that level. The people were still getting killed out there.
- 23:45Speaker 3: We never stopped killing people in this country. But none
- 23:48Speaker 3: of them were that level of, like, you know, epic,
- 23:51Speaker 3: crazy serial killer until Dahmer came back around and sort of,
- 23:55Speaker 3: you know, made it.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Revitalized.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Yeah, he brought it up to that level again. It
- 23:59Speaker 3: really was that creepy and weird a story that it
- 24:02Speaker 3: kind of leveled out with Bundy and all the rest
- 24:04Speaker 3: of these guys. So it's, yeah, it's... I don't know.
- 24:07Speaker 3: I think that's the only one that's in recent, and
- 24:08Speaker 3: probably why it was weirder watching that, because I kind
- 24:11Speaker 3: of remember that as a real news story, which, you know,
- 24:13Speaker 3: the Gein stuff, you don't remember. You know, even like
- 24:16Speaker 3: the 70s stuff.
- 24:17Speaker 12: I don't remember.
- 24:17Speaker 3: Dahmer, I remember it being on the news. So it's
- 24:20Speaker 3: really weird watching this guy do a fictionalized version of
- 24:23Speaker 3: somebody that actually really got killed that I remember on
- 24:26Speaker 3: the news and them talking about that story.
- 24:28Speaker 2: I remember in the fifth grade, even before I knew
- 24:30Speaker 2: really who Ted Bundy was, I remember the date. I
- 24:33Speaker 2: don't remember the date, but I remember the day of school.
- 24:36Speaker 2: where Bundy was to be executed, and we were all like, yeah,
- 24:39Speaker 2: I like Fry's ass. I didn't know who he was,
- 24:42Speaker 2: but now that I know who he was, I'm more like, yeah,
- 24:44Speaker 2: Fry's ass, I'm glad. I remember the OJ trial. Yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 2: I definitely remember the OJ trial.
- 24:50Speaker 3: That warped an entire generation. I like Kevin.
- 24:56Speaker 2: Yeah that's awesome that the whole school like we took
- 24:59Speaker 2: off like in school classes stopped.
- 25:01Speaker 8: Yeah they did for everybody everywhere it was weird.
- 25:04Speaker 2: That was awesome that's sad but it's weird.
- 25:07Speaker 8: It's weird how much that affected I mean that became
- 25:10Speaker 8: like the whole world was obsessed with that there were
- 25:13Speaker 8: the three most famous the three people on the face
- 25:17Speaker 8: of the earth that everyone has heard of is like
- 25:20Speaker 8: OJ Simpson Jesus and like I don't even know who else.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Charles Manson.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Santa Claus.
- 25:26Speaker 8: Probably Michael Jackson. You're probably right.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Yeah, Michael Jackson's pretty freaking famous.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Well, I remember, and it took me a while to
- 25:33Speaker 2: really understand, because when it came out, I didn't really
- 25:36Speaker 2: understand kind of what it was trying to say about it,
- 25:39Speaker 2: but now that, of course, I'm older and uh, kind
- 25:43Speaker 2: of got on board was natural born killers. And that
- 25:46Speaker 2: was basically the whole, that's what it was talking about
- 25:50Speaker 2: was the celebrity of serial killers and how, you know,
- 25:53Speaker 2: sensationalized and through the media and whatever, it's almost like
- 25:56Speaker 2: people begin to idolize them. And, you know, when I
- 25:59Speaker 2: remember when I first saw the movie, I was like,
- 26:00Speaker 2: this movie is ridiculous in the world is going on.
- 26:04Speaker 2: But then when I got a little bit older, I'm like, Oh, okay.
- 26:07Speaker 2: When I was smart enough to understand, uh.
- 26:11Speaker 3: Well, it's a lot going on in that movie.
- 26:12Speaker 2: I don't think I've ever seen it.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Really? See, we need to watch it, because I think
- 26:18Speaker 3: it's awesome.
- 26:19Speaker 8: And you know one thing? I don't know if this is.
- 26:28Speaker 8: I mean, you just don't hear about serial killers very often,
- 26:31Speaker 8: and I think maybe not because they don't exist so much,
- 26:34Speaker 8: but just because they don't publicize it, because they know
- 26:36Speaker 8: how dangerous it is, because Not only does it feed
- 26:40Speaker 8: the serial killer, but also there's always so many copycats.
- 26:44Speaker 8: Like with the Black Dahlia, thousands of people have turned
- 26:48Speaker 8: themselves in for that.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Again, just showing you how weird people are about that stuff.
- 26:55Speaker 3: They're obsessed with it to the point that they want
- 26:57Speaker 3: to be that, even if it ends up them getting
- 27:00Speaker 3: caught for it, even if they didn't do it. That's
- 27:02Speaker 3: how ridiculous it gets.
- 27:03Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:04Speaker 3: It's so weird.
- 27:05Speaker 8: Yeah, it's a very weird thing. But yeah, it's just
- 27:07Speaker 8: like there's so much fictional, like every CSI and every show.
- 27:13Speaker 8: It's just become such a fictional thing. It's like believing
- 27:16Speaker 8: in wizards.
- 27:18Speaker 7: Or dragons or something.
- 27:19Speaker 8: It's just like, just in my mind, it's just an
- 27:23Speaker 8: unreal thing because... Or it's almost overkill.
- 27:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:27Speaker 3: It's so... constant at this point every show is about
- 27:31Speaker 3: people getting killed you know everything that's on tv now
- 27:34Speaker 3: especially network that's all they show is cop shows and
- 27:37Speaker 3: you know finding dead people that's that's damn near every
- 27:40Speaker 3: show oh.
- 27:41Speaker 8: And uh i wanted to mention this when she was
- 27:44Speaker 8: talking about the knife and then you were talking about
- 27:46Speaker 8: dexter the brand of our knives at work is dexter
- 27:50Speaker 8: yes and every time i cut a tomato i cannot
- 27:53Speaker 8: help but laugh.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Every time i cut a tomato i hear it scream.
- 27:59Speaker 8: Tomato juice everywhere i get so like that it just
- 28:02Speaker 8: tickles tickles me it's fun.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Oh so maybe your reaction earlier there as is what
- 28:10Speaker 3: led me to the only other thing i watched uh
- 28:12Speaker 3: yesterday morning i found myself sitting there watching busy town.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Oh my god, Busytown.
- 28:19Speaker 3: Busytown, you probably watched it or read the books as
- 28:22Speaker 3: a child. Like Richard Scarry? Yeah, Richard Scarry. So I didn't,
- 28:26Speaker 3: I just in the last year noticed that there was
- 28:28Speaker 3: a cartoon. I had no idea how long it's been around.
- 28:31Speaker 3: But I remember, and it's funny because this is something
- 28:33Speaker 3: I've always taken from his work, and I put this online.
- 28:36Speaker 3: I posted this yesterday, just a random message that I
- 28:40Speaker 3: was watching it and followed up with, Loli Worm is
- 28:42Speaker 3: the fucking man. The fact that there's a character named
- 28:46Speaker 3: Loli Worm.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Loli Worm.
- 28:48Speaker 3: And the dude has no arms, but he drives a car.
- 28:50Speaker 3: That's fucking awesome. I'm sorry.
- 28:52Speaker 2: That's pretty tight.
- 28:53Speaker 8: I remember that came on when I was little. I
- 28:55Speaker 8: grew up with my cousin, Patrick. That's why I've been
- 28:57Speaker 8: so nostalgic for Problem Challenge. We used to stay up
- 29:00Speaker 8: all night. when USA would have problem child marathons, and
- 29:04Speaker 8: we would watch it for like eight hours solid.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Oh, wow. That's sad.
- 29:07Speaker 6: Oh, wow.
- 29:07Speaker 8: Yeah, but whenever Busytown came on, we'd be like, fuck
- 29:10Speaker 8: this shit, let's watch Ren and Stimpy, you know?
- 29:13Speaker 3: See, that's the thing. I watched more of that stuff
- 29:15Speaker 3: as a kid. I didn't like kids' stuff when I
- 29:17Speaker 3: was a kid, but now I find myself watching.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Reverting.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Which is funny, because I was at some sort of
- 29:22Speaker 3: family thing yesterday, and I mentioned that I was watching that,
- 29:25Speaker 3: and my dad was sitting there, and he was like,
- 29:26Speaker 3: That explains a lot about your life. I was like,
- 29:30Speaker 3: little do you know. Probably more than you want to
- 29:33Speaker 3: know about.
- 29:35Speaker 2: This is why we don't talk. Yes.
- 29:37Speaker 3: It's best that I don't engage with other humans.
- 29:39Speaker 8: Busy Town sounds like the sad... Like, adjacent town to LazyTown.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:48Speaker 7: LazyTown has, like, a smoke haze over it. You smell patchouli.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Once you get booted out of BusyTown, you just wander
- 29:57Speaker 3: over to LazyTown.
- 29:58Speaker 7: That's where all the good boot stores are anyway.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Oh, hell yeah.
- 30:01Speaker 3: People in Busy Town just bitch about you all day long.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Busy Town's dry. Lazy Town is wet as hell.
- 30:09Speaker 7: It's kind of like Canada.
- 30:10Speaker 8: What?
- 30:11Speaker 7: Excellent point.
- 30:12Speaker 6: Oh, man. Misty....
- 30:24Speaker 8: Called me and told me about this, but apparently Hot Topic,
- 30:27Speaker 8: and I've known this for a while because I've seen them,
- 30:29Speaker 8: but Hot Topic has Garbage Poked t-shirts. So I went
- 30:32Speaker 8: there to look for those because I love Garbage Poked.
- 30:35Speaker 8: But they didn't have any, but I did find like
- 30:38Speaker 8: Rocco's Modern Life t-shirts and like other shows that I
- 30:43Speaker 8: grew up watching, you know, and I realized like all
- 30:47Speaker 8: real monsters definitely like shaped and like Beetlejuice and the
- 30:51Speaker 8: Addams Family cartoon. Those cartoons kind of shaped who I am.
- 30:54Speaker 8: But then I feel like Rocco's Modern Life gave me
- 30:57Speaker 8: my warped sense of humor.
- 30:59Speaker 3: It was very weird.
- 31:00Speaker 8: I feel like Rocco's Modern Life is the reason that
- 31:03Speaker 8: I love John Waters movies and things like that.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Way to go, Rocco. Totally messed her up.
- 31:10Speaker 8: I love the, like, hypochondriac turtle, Filbert. He's amazing.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Filbert.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Man, I was really into U.S.
- 31:20Speaker 6: Acres.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Even though nobody.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Else liked that.
- 31:22Speaker 8: Oh, U.S.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Acres? It was like everybody else hated when that one
- 31:25Speaker 3: came out. I was like, no, dude, Sheldon?
- 31:27Speaker 6: Come on.
- 31:27Speaker 2: Yeah, Sheldon.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Sheldon's awesome.
- 31:29Speaker 2: He just didn't want to come out of his egg.
- 31:31Speaker 3: See, those kind of characters are genius.
- 31:33Speaker 2: This is the egg with the.
- 31:34Speaker 3: Oh, man.
- 31:35Speaker 2: I remember Eat the Cat. Eat the Cat was good.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Eat the Cat was good.
- 31:38Speaker 3: All kinds of weird things.
- 31:39Speaker 7: The Tick.
- 31:40Speaker 2: The tip is awesome.
- 31:40Speaker 3: The tip's awesome. I can't wait.
- 31:42Speaker 2: And now what do we have as far as cartoons? Oh,
- 31:45Speaker 2: we don't.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Again, the stuff not made for kids. Adventure Time. Have
- 31:50Speaker 3: you seen that one?
- 31:51Speaker 2: It's amazing.
- 31:52Speaker 3: It's awesome. That is crazy.
- 31:54Speaker 2: I saw it online even before it came out. Is
- 31:56Speaker 2: it on Adult Swim?
- 31:57Speaker 3: No, it's Nickelodeon. Is it just Cartoon Network?
- 32:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Nickelodeon. Is it on Nickelodeon?
- 32:02Speaker 3: No, maybe it is Cartoon Network. Maybe it's earlier in
- 32:04Speaker 3: the day Cartoon Network, but it's not part of Adult Swim.
- 32:06Speaker 3: It's when kids should be watching it.
- 32:07Speaker 2: I'd like to watch an episode online or something.
- 32:09Speaker 12: It is.
- 32:10Speaker 2: awesome it's just so bizarre a.
- 32:12Speaker 8: Couple of years ago like nickelodeon and cartoon network both
- 32:16Speaker 8: went through that phase where they did like you know
- 32:18Speaker 8: shows that i should like like danny phantom you know
- 32:21Speaker 8: like the show and then juniper lee she like was
- 32:23Speaker 8: like buffy she like kicked monsters but that was a.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Cool idea i wish they would.
- 32:27Speaker 8: Have done more it was like they were making cartoons
- 32:29Speaker 8: just for me but they don't do that anymore now
- 32:31Speaker 8: they all kind of back to sucking.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Yeah again it's like you have to look for them
- 32:36Speaker 3: the good cartoons are still out there they're just they're
- 32:38Speaker 3: all kind of just flying under the radar it's like
- 32:40Speaker 3: they've got their own little following and the people that
- 32:43Speaker 3: like them because that was the thing misty brought up
- 32:44Speaker 3: adventure time a couple weeks ago and i hadn't paid
- 32:46Speaker 3: any attention to it and then i started watching i
- 32:48Speaker 3: was like this is fucking weird.
- 32:50Speaker 8: And it's awesome and before it kind of like jumped
- 32:52Speaker 8: the shark which is weird when a cartoon jumps the
- 32:54Speaker 8: shark but like the grim adventures of billy and mandy was.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Awesome it was awesome yeah and then.
- 32:59Speaker 8: What was the other one that i like so much
- 33:01Speaker 8: um Oh, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
- 33:04Speaker 3: That was good.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I love Foster's.
- 33:06Speaker 3: That's another one of those that was too smart for.
- 33:09Speaker 8: Its own good. They just have spurts of having awesome
- 33:11Speaker 8: cartoons and shitty cartoons.
- 33:13Speaker 3: Awesome. There's a theme.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Chocolate milk, mac and cheese. I like cereal. I like cereal. Horsie!
- 33:22Speaker 8: Did you ever notice the weird references that they worked in?
- 33:25Speaker 8: Like the Big Lebowski.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Reference and the pedal ball?
- 33:27Speaker 8: That was just so crazy.
- 33:30Speaker 3: That's, again, that's the... So many of these better ones
- 33:33Speaker 3: aren't really even for kids, you know? But it's weird.
- 33:36Speaker 3: That's what I think is cool is when it crosses
- 33:38Speaker 3: over and you do get little kids that like these
- 33:40Speaker 3: shows because they're on their own kid level and then
- 33:42Speaker 3: you can watch it as an adult and appreciate it
- 33:45Speaker 3: for other things. And I kind of wish... like back
- 33:47Speaker 3: to the movies I kind of wish movies would understand
- 33:49Speaker 3: that and with the exception of Pixar every other kids
- 33:53Speaker 3: movie is just that it's just bad CGI animals and
- 33:56Speaker 3: they're just stupid jokes and kids laugh at it because
- 33:59Speaker 3: they're kids but I'm like that's not an excuse don't
- 34:01Speaker 3: dumb it down for them because you just make dumb
- 34:03Speaker 3: kids it's like why not do something that's got a
- 34:06Speaker 3: level of intelligence above that and then give it a
- 34:09Speaker 3: year or two and the kids will start catching up
- 34:10Speaker 3: and they'll be like this is actually funny I still
- 34:12Speaker 3: like this years later.
- 34:13Speaker 8: Yeah that's what it creates a loyalty you know because
- 34:16Speaker 8: like Kids aren't going to, I don't have any desire
- 34:19Speaker 8: to watch the stupid knockoff cartoons that I watched when
- 34:22Speaker 8: I was a kid. But, you know, like you think
- 34:24Speaker 8: about these amazing things that were so full of references
- 34:27Speaker 8: that you couldn't even understand at like six years old.
- 34:30Speaker 8: And you're just like, oh, that's awesome. You know, and
- 34:32Speaker 8: those are the type of cartoons that are still being
- 34:35Speaker 8: bought and sold on DVD and things like that. And
- 34:38Speaker 8: you can still, you know, like with the Nickelodeon cartoons,
- 34:41Speaker 8: everyone's nostalgic for those now because it's a generation of
- 34:44Speaker 8: kids that grew up on those. Now you can sell
- 34:45Speaker 8: the T-shirts at Hot Topic and people want to buy
- 34:47Speaker 8: them because they're like, oh, fuck yeah, Reptar. It's awesome,
- 34:51Speaker 8: you know. Yeah.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Yeah. It always comes back around. You just have to
- 34:54Speaker 3: give it enough time. Yeah. But yeah, it makes it
- 34:57Speaker 3: better if it's got something to it. If you have
- 34:59Speaker 3: a little something, a little work, a little thought put
- 35:02Speaker 3: into it, it makes it worth coming back to. Because yeah,
- 35:04Speaker 3: there's a lot of stuff that I liked as a
- 35:05Speaker 3: kid that I watch now and I'm like, this is
- 35:07Speaker 3: just crap. So yeah, it's good to find the better
- 35:11Speaker 3: made stuff.
- 35:12Speaker 4: So.
- 35:13Speaker 3: I guess that can wrap us up on the Geek Week.
- 35:15Speaker 3: The many avenues of Geek Week. Serial killers and cartoons.
- 35:19Speaker 3: That's what we like around here.
- 35:20Speaker 8: I mean, you know, it's like there's always something different,
- 35:23Speaker 8: but it always comes back to cartoons. Boobs and cartoons,
- 35:25Speaker 8: serial killers and cartoons, whatever it is. We just, our
- 35:29Speaker 8: minds don't wander too far.
- 35:31Speaker 3: No, it's the basic elements of life, you know. Those
- 35:34Speaker 3: are all awesome things, and we like them. All right,
- 35:37Speaker 3: we will take a break and be back with What's
- 35:39Speaker 3: the Buzz?
- 35:41Speaker 2: I'm standing on.
- 35:43Speaker 7: A platform, smoking a big cigar.
- 35:48Speaker 11: Waiting for some old freight train, carries.
- 35:53Speaker 2: An empty car. I rode her down to Danville town,
- 36:00Speaker 2: got stuck on a Danville girl. You bet your life
- 36:05Speaker 2: she was a pearl, she wore that Danville curl.
- 36:14Speaker 1: If you leave the theater, folks, please be careful. Don't
- 36:17Speaker 1: let this happen to your car. Be sure to remove
- 36:23Speaker 1: the speaker before you leave. If you should accidentally pull
- 36:26Speaker 1: a speaker loose, please turn it in at our snack
- 36:29Speaker 1: bar or box office.
- 36:31Speaker 6: They say Ezra Cobb was a nice enough fella, kind
- 36:35Speaker 6: of quiet, hardworking, good neighbor, devoted son, just about the
- 36:41Speaker 6: last person in the world you'd suspect of being deranged. Deranged,
- 36:49Speaker 6: the story of Ezra Cobb, grave robber, psychopath, and homicidal maniac.
- 36:58Speaker 6: He was trapped in his mother's web of evil, twisted
- 37:02Speaker 6: by his own demented fears, so obsessed with death itself
- 37:08Speaker 6: that he became deranged. He carved a trail of butchery
- 37:14Speaker 6: so brutal that newspapers refused to print its gruesome details. Deranged,
- 37:21Speaker 6: a nightmare of insane murder and lingering death. Deranged. Rated R.
- 37:29Speaker 6: Under 17. Not admitted without parents.
- 37:31Speaker 14: Popsyndicate.com. Your one stop for all your unhealthy obsessions. Breaking

- 37:52Speaker 3: Hi, this is Tom Kane, the voice of Yoda. And
- 37:54Speaker 3: listening to Movie Meltdown, you are this.
- 38:01Speaker 2: I like chocolate milk. I like chocolate milk. I like cereal.
- 38:15Speaker 3: I wouldn't just strangle that guy. I know, everybody loves
- 38:19Speaker 3: him when he's just like... I like Blue, the psycho. See,
- 38:22Speaker 3: Blue I like.
- 38:22Speaker 7: No, no, no.
- 38:23Speaker 4: Berry.
- 38:23Speaker 6: Blue Regard.
- 38:24Speaker 7: Yeah, I love Blue, but Berry.
- 38:26Speaker 8: Remember Blueberry?
- 38:27Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 38:28Speaker 8: She was like, I made this album of all the
- 38:29Speaker 8: special moments that we've had together.
- 38:31Speaker 3: What was the Hispanic monster guy? The one that was
- 38:34Speaker 3: scared of everything.
- 38:36Speaker 7: Eduardo.
- 38:36Speaker 6: Eduardo.
- 38:37Speaker 3: I loved Eduardo. I was like, see, I like potatoes.
- 38:39Speaker 10: I like potatoes.
- 38:40Speaker 3: I like potatoes. I liked that he was a monster
- 38:42Speaker 3: and he was scared of everything. That was awesome. Like,
- 38:44Speaker 3: but I don't want to go in there.
- 38:46Speaker 7: And Wilt was the.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 38:48Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 38:49Speaker 6: Wilt.
- 38:51Speaker 3: Wilt. Wonder if he nailed a bunch of chicken.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Yes.
- 38:55Speaker 3: All right. We are back with What's the Buzz?
- 38:57Speaker 6: Groovy. Tell me what's happening.
- 39:01Speaker 14: What's the buzz?
- 39:02Speaker 7: Tell me what's happening.
- 39:03Speaker 3: What's the buzz?
- 39:04Speaker 7: Tell me what's happening. What's the buzz?
- 39:06Speaker 3: Tell me what's happening. This just in.
- 39:10Speaker 2: This just in.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Extensive search for Sony's Spider-Man is over. Okay, so now
- 39:15Speaker 3: I told her to go ahead and get the iPhone ready,
- 39:17Speaker 3: because go ahead and type in, because I'm going to
- 39:19Speaker 3: say the name, and you're all going to go, wait, who?
- 39:22Speaker 3: Go ahead and type in Andrew Garfield, because he has
- 39:25Speaker 3: been chosen as the new and younger and more improved...
- 39:30Speaker 3: Peter Parker.
- 39:31Speaker 2: His name is failure.
- 39:33Speaker 3: Yes, President Garfield. They're going to dig him up and
- 39:35Speaker 3: make him Peter Parker. That will be awesome because people
- 39:40Speaker 3: love zombie movies and they love superhero movies. Two in
- 39:43Speaker 3: one special. It's going to be awesome.
- 39:46Speaker 6: Hey, wait.
- 39:46Speaker 3: They had that. Marvel Zombies.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Marvel Zombies.
- 39:49Speaker 3: Marvel Zombies. They already had that.
- 39:51Speaker 2: Never mind.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Cancel the whole project. Damn it.
- 39:54Speaker 2: His name sounds familiar.
- 39:56Speaker 3: He has been in The Other Boleyn Girl, The Imaginarium
- 40:00Speaker 3: of Dr.
- 40:00Speaker 8: Parnassus.
- 40:00Speaker 3: His head is too small. Didn't see that. And the
- 40:03Speaker 3: upcoming The Social Network.
- 40:04Speaker 8: His head's too small.
- 40:05Speaker 3: I don't like it. There you go. We're now checking
- 40:08Speaker 3: it out. His hair.
- 40:09Speaker 8: What?
- 40:09Speaker 7: Okay. His head is way too small.
- 40:11Speaker 3: I kind of recognize him. I know.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Like a pea head.
- 40:15Speaker 3: Okay.
- 40:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:16Speaker 3: That's a scary noggin.
- 40:18Speaker 6: Weird.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Just a dude.
- 40:20Speaker 7: His big hair. Maybe.
- 40:22Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 40:22Speaker 8: He looks like a Jonas brother.
- 40:23Speaker 2: I think if his hair was toned down a little bit.
- 40:25Speaker 3: It kind of got the Joe look going.
- 40:26Speaker 2: It wouldn't overshadow his visage.
- 40:29Speaker 6: No.
- 40:29Speaker 8: He's a Jonas brother. No.
- 40:30Speaker 2: He's like the missing Jonas.
- 40:31Speaker 11: Oh, God.
- 40:31Speaker 2: He looks worse there.
- 40:32Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 40:33Speaker 2: He looks like Chachki.
- 40:34Speaker 3: He looks.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Boom.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:37Speaker 3: That's not a good.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Look right there.
- 40:38Speaker 7: I would rather McLovin be Spider-Man.
- 40:40Speaker 1: For real.
- 40:41Speaker 3: I don't want that either, actually.
- 40:45Speaker 8: Even here he is with short hair, and it's worse.
- 40:48Speaker 3: He continues to get worse the more we look at him.
- 40:50Speaker 2: I don't want to see any more pictures of this douche-coo.
- 40:54Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not cool. He's not near a douche-coo. Don't
- 40:56Speaker 3: sully the fine name of douche-coo. Yeah, I'm sorry. Well,
- 40:59Speaker 3: it's funny. We'll get to what the director says about
- 41:02Speaker 3: him here in a minute. But yeah, scheduled for July 3rd, 2012,
- 41:04Speaker 3: which is.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Nearing ever closer. They better hurry up and get this
- 41:08Speaker 3: thing going. We're going to be dead before then. Oh, probably.
- 41:11Speaker 3: The yet untitled Spider-Man reboot will be directed by Mark Webb.
- 41:15Speaker 3: Make your own jokes. Who did 500 Days of Summer.
- 41:18Speaker 3: And here's what Mark has to say about the casting.
- 41:21Speaker 3: He says, though his name may be new to many,
- 41:24Speaker 3: those who know this young actor's work understand his extraordinary talents.
- 41:27Speaker 3: He is a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity.
- 41:31Speaker 3: Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as your president.
- 41:34Speaker 3: I mean, as Peter Parker. Sounded like he was running
- 41:37Speaker 3: for office there for a second. You will love Andrew Garfield.
- 41:40Speaker 3: Vote for him now. So, yeah, I don't know. We
- 41:46Speaker 3: don't love his face so far, but we'll have to
- 41:48Speaker 3: see his wit and humanity.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Peter Parker has never, you know, I don't know, he's
- 41:54Speaker 2: not a really big character. He's just kind of.
- 41:58Speaker 3: It's a.
- 41:58Speaker 2: Weird mix, you know. So, I mean, I don't think
- 42:02Speaker 2: it would take that much to fill that. Yeah. Don't shoot. Yeah.
- 42:06Speaker 8: It's kind of like, dude, as Peter Parker, you kind
- 42:08Speaker 8: of blow, but a Spider-Man?
- 42:10Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Pretty cool.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:11Speaker 3: Well, that's what it is. It's such a weird mix
- 42:13Speaker 3: because you can't cast somebody cool. You know, it's like
- 42:15Speaker 3: you've got to play, which I guess a lot of
- 42:17Speaker 3: them sort of do that. Like, that's the ultimate alter
- 42:20Speaker 3: ego is to be a doofus. You know, even, you know,
- 42:22Speaker 3: Clark Kent has to be a bumbling idiot, you know,
- 42:25Speaker 3: just to cover the fact that he's so fucking awesome
- 42:27Speaker 3: in his super identity.
- 42:28Speaker 8: So.
- 42:29Speaker 3: This is, yeah, I mean, it's one of those, yeah,
- 42:31Speaker 3: you've got to, especially Peter Parker, though, because he's a
- 42:34Speaker 3: dorky kid. So it's like you've got to cast the
- 42:36Speaker 3: dorky kid, but he's also got to pull off being,
- 42:38Speaker 3: you know, super cool Spider-Man. So it's weird being able
- 42:42Speaker 3: to cast that. And they kind of lucked out last time.
- 42:44Speaker 3: I mean, Toby sort of fell into both sides. It's like,
- 42:48Speaker 3: you know, he's especially when he's believable. He believed, yeah,
- 42:52Speaker 3: you believed him as a dork because we all thought
- 42:53Speaker 3: he was a dork up until then. And then he
- 42:55Speaker 3: sort of bulked up midway through and was like, okay,
- 42:57Speaker 3: I know I got to play a superhero. So he
- 42:59Speaker 3: sort of pulled off, you know, being both sides of that,
- 43:02Speaker 3: which is, it is a hard thing to cast.
- 43:04Speaker 8: You know, when you, when you think about all the
- 43:06Speaker 8: comics written, you can really tell who writes them. It's like, oh,
- 43:11Speaker 8: look at this nerdy guy that everybody makes fun of,
- 43:14Speaker 8: but on the inside, he's a superhero, and he's really awesome.
- 43:18Speaker 8: You're missing out.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Just like me.
- 43:22Speaker 3: That's what was sort of fun with Kick-Ass.
- 43:23Speaker 7: I love the hand motions that went along with that.
- 43:26Speaker 3: But that was what was sort of cool with Kick-Ass.
- 43:28Speaker 3: It did sort of address the fact that it openly
- 43:31Speaker 3: acknowledged the fact that this is a group of comics
- 43:34Speaker 3: made by dorky guys about dorky guys, but then they're
- 43:37Speaker 3: totally awesome. They're totally awesome. Yeah, you've got them sort
- 43:41Speaker 3: of making fun of that and then in the end
- 43:43Speaker 3: becoming that all at the same time. So, yeah, it's
- 43:45Speaker 3: a weird movie.
- 43:46Speaker 8: I need to see it.
- 43:47Speaker 3: It is awesome.
- 43:48Speaker 2: It was awesome.
- 43:49Speaker 3: But, yeah, here's the weird thing I wanted to bring
- 43:52Speaker 3: up on the President Garfield thing here. So they're casting
- 43:56Speaker 3: him and they're trying to be like, this is the new, younger, cooler,
- 43:59Speaker 3: high school version or whatever they're doing with this new
- 44:02Speaker 3: plot line. He's 26.
- 44:03Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 44:04Speaker 3: So by the time they yeah first of all he
- 44:07Speaker 3: doesn't look it yeah but yeah it's like okay i
- 44:10Speaker 3: don't even know if they're sticking with the high school
- 44:12Speaker 3: plot line but even if they aren't if they're going
- 44:14Speaker 3: for a sequel if they're going for a series of
- 44:16Speaker 3: movies by the time the next one comes out he's
- 44:18Speaker 3: gonna be 30 yeah like how is he the not
- 44:21Speaker 3: the newer younger spider-man when he's fucking 30.
- 44:23Speaker 7: Already dude i'm 27.
- 44:25Speaker 3: Yeah he's like what the fuck I got screwed out
- 44:28Speaker 3: of another six movies. What the hell? So yeah, it
- 44:32Speaker 3: makes no sense. All they talked about was going younger
- 44:34Speaker 3: and going to high school years and we're, you know,
- 44:36Speaker 3: a whole new generation. I'm like, what the fuck? He's
- 44:38Speaker 3: barely out of Toby's generation.
- 44:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:42Speaker 3: You're obsessed with Drake Bell.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Drake Bell.
- 44:45Speaker 12: Yes, I am.
- 44:46Speaker 3: He already had that superhero movie.
- 44:49Speaker 2: Who's Drake Bell?
- 44:49Speaker 3: It was really bad. That was horrible. It was really bad.
- 44:53Speaker 3: So we've seen what he can do as a superhero.
- 44:54Speaker 8: What movie was it?
- 44:56Speaker 3: Superhero movie.
- 44:56Speaker 7: Superhero movie.
- 44:57Speaker 3: It's basically a scary movie for superheroes.
- 44:59Speaker 2: For superhero movies.
- 45:00Speaker 3: It's terrible. It's horrible.
- 45:02Speaker 2: I didn't see it.
- 45:03Speaker 3: Don't watch it.
- 45:04Speaker 7: I watched it.
- 45:05Speaker 3: That's how I know you're obsessed with Drake Bell.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Then loved it.
- 45:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:09Speaker 7: Only watch certain parts, though.
- 45:10Speaker 3: It's okay. Just when he was wearing the tight-fitting suit.
- 45:13Speaker 7: Tight-fitting outfit.
- 45:16Speaker 8: So, if this is, like, pre-Spider-Man, is this going to be, like,
- 45:19Speaker 8: Gossip Girl or something? Right? If he can't shoot webs
- 45:24Speaker 8: out of his hand, who gives a fuck what this
- 45:26Speaker 8: loser is doing?
- 45:27Speaker 3: Maybe they're going with the Robin Hood movie now. I mean,
- 45:30Speaker 3: that was, like... Everything that led up to him becoming
- 45:33Speaker 3: Robin Hood. And then when he gets to the point
- 45:35Speaker 3: he becomes Robin Hood, it's over. So maybe this is
- 45:37Speaker 3: like Spider-Man going to math class.
- 45:39Speaker 2: This is how he got real smart.
- 45:41Speaker 3: We're going to see him study him for the big test.
- 45:43Speaker 2: And when he begins to fawn over Mary Jane.
- 45:46Speaker 3: When Mary Jane turned him down to go to the dance.
- 45:49Speaker 3: It's going to be that drama. We're not going to
- 45:50Speaker 3: have any of that pesky superhero.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Yeah, really. I'm so smart, nobody knows.
- 45:58Speaker 3: You missed the hand motion there. He said that. You
- 46:01Speaker 3: can guess what it was. So, yeah, I don't know.
- 46:05Speaker 3: It seems like a weird way to go if they're
- 46:07Speaker 3: trying to go younger. He's not younger. If they're trying
- 46:10Speaker 3: to go with the other plot line, we've already seen that.
- 46:12Speaker 3: So I don't know what they're doing with this story.
- 46:15Speaker 8: Hollywood is out of ideas.
- 46:17Speaker 2: And almost out of money.
- 46:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that too.
- 46:21Speaker 2: The Ultimate Spider-Man series is a younger Spider-Man because there's
- 46:25Speaker 2: Spider-Man and there's Ultimate Spider-Man. And Ultimate Spider-Man was like
- 46:27Speaker 2: a different... universe or whatever and he was younger and
- 46:32Speaker 2: you know things are different like like Venom's in it
- 46:36Speaker 2: but you know Eddie Brock's dying of cancer and he's
- 46:38Speaker 2: like going to high school with Eddie Brock and stuff
- 46:40Speaker 2: like that so I don't know if they're gonna go
- 46:41Speaker 2: with that if they're looking to go the younger Peter
- 46:44Speaker 2: Parker and whatnot.
- 46:46Speaker 3: They always go younger. I still think it would almost
- 46:49Speaker 3: be more interesting at this point to follow a superhero
- 46:52Speaker 3: and watch them get older. Again, we brought this up before.
- 46:56Speaker 3: The DC Universe does that. We follow Batman getting old in.
- 46:59Speaker 2: The comics and cartoons.
- 47:01Speaker 3: That's awesome. They don't do it in the movies, but
- 47:04Speaker 3: in the rest of the story, Marvel doesn't do that.
- 47:05Speaker 3: They're eternally 19 in the Marvel Universe. I think it
- 47:10Speaker 3: would have been cool to.
- 47:11Speaker 7: in there somewhere.
- 47:12Speaker 2: Probably.
- 47:12Speaker 3: But I mean, it would be kind of cool to
- 47:14Speaker 3: hang on to like a Toby or somebody and like
- 47:16Speaker 3: follow them into their 40s and be like, okay, what
- 47:18Speaker 3: does Spider-Man do when he actually starts getting old? And like,
- 47:21Speaker 3: did the power start to deteriorate as the rest of
- 47:24Speaker 3: his body gets old?
- 47:25Speaker 2: Is he ever like climbing up a building like, my back.
- 47:29Speaker 2: Son of a bitch.
- 47:30Speaker 8: You'd think that would be like, you'd think that would
- 47:33Speaker 8: be the part where they introduce the next generation. Yeah.
- 47:36Speaker 8: You know, like, this is Spider-Man's baby.
- 47:38Speaker 2: Spider-Man's time.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Well, again, Batman Beyond did that. And that's a cool idea.
- 47:45Speaker 3: It was an interesting way to go. And they don't
- 47:48Speaker 3: want to back a whole movie doing that, I guess,
- 47:50Speaker 3: because that's too much money.
- 47:51Speaker 2: Because they're friggin' idiots.
- 47:52Speaker 3: But, I mean, the cartoon series, if you watch that,
- 47:54Speaker 3: that's kind of, I mean, they got kind of ridiculous
- 47:56Speaker 3: in some of the villains and some of the future world.
- 47:58Speaker 3: But it's a cool idea. It's basically the Robin idea,
- 48:02Speaker 3: only not lame and super cheesy and kind of gay overtones. But, yeah,
- 48:06Speaker 3: I mean, this really is, I'm getting too old. I
- 48:08Speaker 3: need to bring somebody in to carry on the legacy
- 48:11Speaker 3: of Batman.
- 48:11Speaker 8: I think I actually, there's a whole website devoted to this.
- 48:14Speaker 8: But didn't, in the comics, Batman had, like, a nephew
- 48:18Speaker 8: or somebody that he, like, took care of or something
- 48:20Speaker 8: like that?
- 48:20Speaker 6: Probably.
- 48:20Speaker 8: Because it was, like, no, maybe it wasn't Batman. But
- 48:23Speaker 8: I don't remember. But it was some, it may have
- 48:25Speaker 8: been Superman. I think it was Superman. And he had this, like.
- 48:28Speaker 8: In the later comics, there was, like, this kid that
- 48:30Speaker 8: he took care of or something like that. And he
- 48:32Speaker 8: was a dick to the kid. And the website was, like,
- 48:35Speaker 8: all about, like, comic excerpt. You know what word I'm
- 48:39Speaker 8: grasping for here, people. But it was all about those
- 48:42Speaker 8: where he was just a total dick and he would say, like,
- 48:45Speaker 8: asshole things.
- 48:46Speaker 3: I think you're thinking of Uncle Donald. He took care
- 48:49Speaker 3: of Huey Dewey in the movie.
- 48:52Speaker 6: No.
- 48:53Speaker 3: And he was always yelling at him and shit.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:56Speaker 3: Fucking lose it and yell at him.
- 48:57Speaker 6: No.
- 48:57Speaker 3: No I'm not sure which.
- 48:58Speaker 8: One that is yeah I do not know I'm pretty
- 49:00Speaker 8: sure it was like either Batman or Superman and I
- 49:03Speaker 8: looked at the website for like four hours one night
- 49:06Speaker 8: it was really funny bored of course it was a
- 49:11Speaker 8: Saturday night what do you expect no I'm just.
- 49:13Speaker 3: Kidding that's like my Saturday night hold on encroaching on
- 49:16Speaker 3: my geek territory it.
- 49:18Speaker 8: May not have been a Saturday I don't know it
- 49:19Speaker 8: could have been a Friday.
- 49:20Speaker 3: Encroaching.
- 49:21Speaker 12: Yes.
- 49:21Speaker 7: Two other words.
- 49:23Speaker 2: Encroached upon.
- 49:24Speaker 8: He did not just say encroach upon me.
- 49:27Speaker 3: All right. So moving on. And I know at least
- 49:31Speaker 3: most of us here will probably be big fans of
- 49:34Speaker 3: the original incarnation of this. Where it's going, I don't know.
- 49:37Speaker 3: Paul Rubens is back.
- 49:39Speaker 4: Oh, yes.
- 49:42Speaker 3: Uh maybe i don't know if i'm yaying at this
- 49:44Speaker 3: point yes well there you go see that was back
- 49:48Speaker 3: in the day uh he's been trying to get his
- 49:51Speaker 3: new kiwi movie made for about 10 years now and
- 49:55Speaker 3: obviously he has many reasons for them uh giving him
- 49:58Speaker 3: resistance but um speaking in a hand motion earlier yep
- 50:01Speaker 3: so the uh it appears it's getting closer to actually
- 50:04Speaker 3: happening uh thank for being out of ideas yeah not
- 50:09Speaker 3: necessarily see i don't know we'll we'll get to that
- 50:11Speaker 3: in a minute i'll finish this so it says um
- 50:13Speaker 3: in the past there's been talk about ruben's doing uh
- 50:16Speaker 3: he's writing the screenplay now and it's like it's one
- 50:18Speaker 3: of two stories it'll be either peewee dealing with celebrity
- 50:21Speaker 3: after an embarrassing incident gee i wonder where they're going
- 50:24Speaker 3: with this Or the story will be more closely resembling
- 50:29Speaker 3: something from Pee Wee's Playhouse, which, again, would probably have
- 50:32Speaker 3: more people on board for it because it's not... The
- 50:34Speaker 3: other one actually sounds like an interesting story, but everybody
- 50:37Speaker 3: would probably hate it because it's not what they're used to.
- 50:39Speaker 8: Kind of like Pauly Shore is dead.
- 50:41Speaker 3: Yeah, probably like taking a weird showbiz look at a character,
- 50:45Speaker 3: like a weird fictional character, and then I'm sure they'd
- 50:48Speaker 3: screw it up anyway.
- 50:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:49Speaker 3: Regardless um i don't know i don't know what to
- 50:53Speaker 3: do with this because have you seen peewee lately have
- 50:56Speaker 3: you seen when.
- 50:57Speaker 8: He was on pushing daisies which was amazing and it
- 51:00Speaker 8: sucks that that got canceled.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Well i mean does he but was he peewee no
- 51:05Speaker 3: did you see when he was on jay leno first
- 51:08Speaker 3: of all yeah then the last in the run of
- 51:11Speaker 3: jay leno on his stupid little fake show whatever that
- 51:13Speaker 3: 10 o'clock bullshit was that's probably the only part of
- 51:16Speaker 3: it i ever watched because i avoided it like the
- 51:18Speaker 3: plague it was horrible But I saw Pee Wee was
- 51:20Speaker 3: coming on. I was like, well, this is cool. I
- 51:22Speaker 3: haven't seen him in... I've seen Paul Reubens on show,
- 51:24Speaker 3: and he's talked about trying to get the movie off
- 51:26Speaker 3: the ground for years. I haven't seen him in the costume.
- 51:28Speaker 3: He just got back into doing the official character again.
- 51:31Speaker 3: So he came on there. He was not funny. And
- 51:34Speaker 3: I don't know if it's just because Jay Leno sucks
- 51:36Speaker 3: the funny out of anything he comes in contact with,
- 51:38Speaker 3: because that show was just horrible. And it really did
- 51:41Speaker 3: sort of find a way of killing any form of comedy.
- 51:43Speaker 6: But.
- 51:45Speaker 3: he did some crazy salad bar gag and it made
- 51:48Speaker 3: no sense. And it's like some of his old stuff
- 51:50Speaker 3: used to not make sense. And that was the joke.
- 51:52Speaker 3: This just didn't really make sense. Like I have no idea.
- 51:55Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 51:56Speaker 3: It was just like, what are you doing? Like, were
- 51:58Speaker 3: you just bored one day? It was late. It was
- 52:00Speaker 3: a Saturday night.
- 52:00Speaker 2: He didn't have anything to do. I'm embarrassed for you.
- 52:02Speaker 3: He started building a salad bar and decided he wanted
- 52:04Speaker 3: to make a routine.
- 52:05Speaker 1: Out of it.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Well, that's the thing is, you know, he was so
- 52:08Speaker 2: early nineties, Peewee Homer, so early nineties and, To bring
- 52:12Speaker 2: him back now, I don't know if this is the same.
- 52:15Speaker 2: I don't know if he can survive in this climate
- 52:17Speaker 2: or whatever. I mean, it worked once.
- 52:18Speaker 8: But, you know, it's just like you can't bring Howdy
- 52:20Speaker 8: Doody back.
- 52:21Speaker 3: Yeah, kids wouldn't know what to do.
- 52:22Speaker 2: It won't work.
- 52:23Speaker 3: So it is one of those. I mean, that's what
- 52:27Speaker 3: I was trying to decide. Is it something you can
- 52:29Speaker 3: return to? I mean, is that version of Pee Wee gone?
- 52:33Speaker 3: Or even if that version of Pee Wee is still around,
- 52:35Speaker 3: if he can bring it back, is anybody in this
- 52:38Speaker 3: audience now okay with it? Other than the Nostalgia Group.
- 52:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 52:42Speaker 3: But they're going to be, like, they're still going to
- 52:44Speaker 3: have their own weird thing. I mean, they've changed in
- 52:46Speaker 3: the last 20 years. So it's like, I don't know.
- 52:49Speaker 3: It's a weird thing for them to try to bring
- 52:51Speaker 3: it back, and it's even weirder if they're trying to
- 52:53Speaker 3: bring it back just like it was, because I don't
- 52:56Speaker 3: know if that's going to sell at this point.
- 52:57Speaker 8: I love Pee-wee's Playhouse and everything involving Pee-wee. I have
- 53:01Speaker 8: all the movies and all the toys, and oh my god,
- 53:04Speaker 8: it's crazy.
- 53:04Speaker 3: But.
- 53:06Speaker 8: At the same time, when I imagine him coming back,
- 53:08Speaker 8: I imagine this, like, sad little middle-aged guy.
- 53:11Speaker 3: He's pushing 60.
- 53:12Speaker 13: Oh, my God.
- 53:13Speaker 2: Jesus.
- 53:13Speaker 8: He's got, like, wrinkly skin and, like, love handles and
- 53:17Speaker 8: split pants and stuff like that. And just being really creepy.
- 53:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Because it was, like, a comfortable. He was creepy then.
- 53:23Speaker 7: It was a.
- 53:23Speaker 8: Comfortable level of creepy.
- 53:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:25Speaker 8: But now I just think it would be really just.
- 53:27Speaker 2: Sad, creepy.
- 53:28Speaker 7: It's like the old guy from Family Guy.
- 53:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:33Speaker 8: Yeah there's a homeless guy that comes into my work
- 53:37Speaker 8: that sounds exactly like that no joke everyone laughs he
- 53:40Speaker 8: whistles when he talks to everyone laughs and laughs and
- 53:43Speaker 8: laughs and he's always like making these crazy hats out
- 53:46Speaker 8: of like garbage and he's like I made this hat.
- 53:49Speaker 8: I'm going to wear it to the dance tonight. And
- 53:52Speaker 8: I'm like, okay.
- 53:54Speaker 7: I'm going to call the cops.
- 53:56Speaker 8: And I'm like, please don't sit your hat on the bar.
- 54:00Speaker 3: I don't know where it's been. But I have ideas
- 54:05Speaker 3: and I don't like them.
- 54:06Speaker 7: And now your hat is walking away.
- 54:09Speaker 2: That was just my toilet.
- 54:15Speaker 8: Once he had a hat and it had fake horses
- 54:17Speaker 8: glued all over it.
- 54:18Speaker 7: It was his derby hat.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Oh, my Lord. Obviously.
- 54:20Speaker 8: It was made out of foam pipe insulation. It wasn't
- 54:26Speaker 8: even like a hat. It was just like a big
- 54:27Speaker 8: coil of foam pipe insulation.
- 54:30Speaker 3: Oh these are the special special people we deal with
- 54:36Speaker 3: oh my.
- 54:37Speaker 8: God almost as awesome as the crazy guy outside last
- 54:40Speaker 8: week who kept yelling like we looked over at him
- 54:44Speaker 8: and he got up and started running towards him yeah
- 54:47Speaker 8: i'm gonna chuck your goddamn head off and we were
- 54:49Speaker 8: like oh my gosh.
- 54:50Speaker 2: Yeah what It's best not to, like, make direct fun
- 54:53Speaker 2: of people like that because you don't know what they're
- 54:55Speaker 2: going to do. We weren't making fun of him, we
- 54:57Speaker 2: just looked in his direction. Oh, that's a.
- 54:59Speaker 4: Mistake, too.
- 54:59Speaker 7: Oh, God.
- 55:01Speaker 12: Oh, it hurts.
- 55:02Speaker 3: I'm bringing you back for movie fan freak show. We
- 55:04Speaker 3: haven't done that in a while.
- 55:05Speaker 2: I work across the.
- 55:06Speaker 8: Street from a mental health institution. I don't know if
- 55:10Speaker 8: I needed to clarify that.
- 55:13Speaker 3: There's a shocker.
- 55:14Speaker 8: But, you know, even then, I think, like, crazy people
- 55:17Speaker 8: can just sense it and maybe that's why i work
- 55:19Speaker 8: across the street from mental.
- 55:20Speaker 2: Health they're drawn to you you're drawn.
- 55:23Speaker 8: To them no just they're drawn to the institution because
- 55:27Speaker 8: like people who aren't there for treatment like the other
- 55:30Speaker 8: day had this like meth whore there was something wrong
- 55:34Speaker 8: with this girl she was like delusional she thought she
- 55:37Speaker 8: was a model she was standing outside holding a bud
- 55:39Speaker 8: light she goes Look at all these cars driving by.
- 55:41Speaker 8: I bet they're all thinking, what's this beautiful girl doing
- 55:44Speaker 8: outside in front of this bar drinking a Bud Light
- 55:46Speaker 8: in the middle of the day? And I was like, yeah,
- 55:50Speaker 8: I'm sure that's what they're thinking.
- 55:51Speaker 2: Probably not.
- 55:52Speaker 3: No, that's just the weird, and that's probably the least
- 55:55Speaker 3: weird thing going on in your head right now.
- 55:57Speaker 2: Not really. Oh, wow.
- 55:59Speaker 7: That's probably the most normal thought you've had in a month.
- 56:01Speaker 3: And it's still scary.
- 56:02Speaker 2: No, no.
- 56:04Speaker 3: It's so sad. Crazy.
- 56:06Speaker 7: As we all laugh.
- 56:08Speaker 3: So, Pee-wee. Yes.
- 56:10Speaker 7: Back to Pee-wee.
- 56:11Speaker 1: Pee-wee.
- 56:12Speaker 3: So, is that what it's going to be, though? I mean,
- 56:14Speaker 3: it was creepy enough if you stopped and thought about,
- 56:16Speaker 3: especially the show. Like, the movie's awesome. The movie sort
- 56:19Speaker 3: of stands on its own. It's its own weird thing.
- 56:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:22Speaker 3: The TV show entered into that. Here's this weird guy
- 56:24Speaker 3: inviting a bunch of kids over to his house.
- 56:26Speaker 6: That's terrible.
- 56:27Speaker 3: That's weird anyway, but now you've got a 60-year-old guy
- 56:30Speaker 3: inviting little kids over to his house.
- 56:32Speaker 2: Dressed up like a little boy.
- 56:33Speaker 3: Yeah, and wearing a creepy bow tie. So, I mean,
- 56:35Speaker 3: is that going to bring all... I mean, is that
- 56:38Speaker 3: going to sit well with anybody?
- 56:39Speaker 2: I don't think there's an audience out there left.
- 56:42Speaker 3: Well, here's the really weird part. Like, to me, the
- 56:44Speaker 3: rest of it, them dragging that out.
- 56:46Speaker 2: It was just sort of weird.
- 56:47Speaker 3: Well, them dragging that out and trying to make money
- 56:49Speaker 3: off of it does not surprise me at all. This
- 56:51Speaker 3: is kind of surprising. The man who's bringing it back
- 56:53Speaker 3: is Judd Apatow. really 40 year old virgin knocked up
- 56:57Speaker 3: like all these big comedies now and he does sort
- 57:00Speaker 3: of have a handle on what people like in comedies
- 57:03Speaker 3: so he's producing the project he's you know he's on
- 57:07Speaker 3: board i don't know if he's gonna have i can't
- 57:10Speaker 3: imagine him directing it but he's definitely going to be
- 57:12Speaker 3: involved in it so the fact that he's even involved
- 57:15Speaker 3: is very strange if.
- 57:16Speaker 2: There's anything that can save peewee i think apatow can
- 57:20Speaker 2: that might that might be it yeah a resurgence oh weird.
- 57:24Speaker 3: The other thing that's weird, though, is Paul Rubens is
- 57:26Speaker 3: co-writing the script with Paul Rust, whose TV work includes
- 57:30Speaker 3: Moral Oral, which makes me think it's going to be
- 57:33Speaker 3: equally as weird as the old stuff because that's a
- 57:36Speaker 3: fucked up show. That's a messed up show. And talk
- 57:39Speaker 3: about weird pervy stuff going on. Let's talk about that
- 57:42Speaker 3: damn show. So it's not like it's going to get
- 57:44Speaker 3: less pervy by including... Are they.
- 57:46Speaker 8: Going to just stop skirting around the issue and make
- 57:49Speaker 8: this an adult movie?
- 57:51Speaker 3: Again, I think that would be more interesting. I think
- 57:54Speaker 3: that would piss a lot of people off. If they
- 57:56Speaker 3: really just went ahead and took it there and were like, okay,
- 57:58Speaker 3: let's face the fact Pee-wee's a perv. I don't think
- 58:01Speaker 3: he was. I don't think he was in the old show,
- 58:03Speaker 3: but I'm saying if you look at that circumstance, that's
- 58:05Speaker 3: the most logical way to go with a story. It's like, okay,
- 58:08Speaker 3: let's look at this weird guy who has all these
- 58:11Speaker 3: toys in his house and bring kids over. Yeah. that's
- 58:14Speaker 3: a way you could look at it that's different i
- 58:16Speaker 3: think that would piss everybody.
- 58:18Speaker 8: Off that just bothers me so much that everyone's like
- 58:20Speaker 8: peewee's a perv and i mean maybe it kind of
- 58:22Speaker 8: is but dude people didn't have vcrs in their house
- 58:25Speaker 8: then that's just the way i feel about it like
- 58:28Speaker 8: everybody it wasn't in the 70s and at that time
- 58:32Speaker 8: like couples would go to drive-ins and whatever and there
- 58:36Speaker 8: was always porn on like it was just a thing
- 58:38Speaker 8: that was just what happened you know what everybody did
- 58:40Speaker 8: not that it's like not gross to like hear about
- 58:43Speaker 8: but I just think it's a really unfortunate I wasn't.
- 58:45Speaker 3: Touching anybody else he was just touching somebody that's my
- 58:47Speaker 3: thing I think everybody pleases himself every goddamn day in
- 58:50Speaker 3: this country that's right and that's what I think is
- 58:52Speaker 3: bullshit I think he got screwed over on that because
- 58:55Speaker 3: it's different if he really was doing something that or
- 58:58Speaker 3: even if it wasn't about kids even if he was
- 58:59Speaker 3: just like a tag groping some girl in a theater
- 59:02Speaker 3: well that's creepy too but he was doing what everybody
- 59:05Speaker 3: else in the world does and what everybody else that
- 59:07Speaker 3: went out there and bust him does and it who
- 59:10Speaker 3: put him up there and shined the spotlight on him
- 59:12Speaker 3: and bitched about it. They're doing it too. So I
- 59:14Speaker 3: thought it was bullshit.
- 59:15Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely. He got a raw deal.
- 59:18Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 59:18Speaker 3: Which, I mean, really, it ruined his career. For no reason.
- 59:22Speaker 3: Once again, it would be legit if he was busted
- 59:25Speaker 3: doing something perverted to someone else. Yeah. God forbid to
- 59:28Speaker 3: a kid. But he didn't do anything to anybody. And
- 59:32Speaker 3: once again, it would be different if he was just
- 59:34Speaker 3: out in the world. If he was at the mall
- 59:35Speaker 3: touching himself, all right, fine. I can see it ruining
- 59:38Speaker 3: his career. He was in an adult theater. That's what
- 59:41Speaker 3: they're there for.
- 59:42Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 59:42Speaker 3: They can argue that all they want, but we all
- 59:44Speaker 3: know in the real world, that's what they're there for.
- 59:47Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 59:47Speaker 8: Every judge, every police officer, you know, it's just, it
- 59:52Speaker 8: doesn't really.
- 59:53Speaker 3: Bullshit. Yeah, bullshit. I'm telling you.
- 59:55Speaker 2: Free Pee-Wee.
- 59:56Speaker 7: Oh, wait a minute.
- 59:58Speaker 3: Free Pee-Wee and then don't make a movie, Pee-Wee. It's
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: probably in your best interest. Just stop.
- 1:00:04Speaker 8: I like him as a character actor. I wish he
- 1:00:06Speaker 8: would stop trying to be Pee-Wee. Just let it die.
- 1:00:09Speaker 8: I liked him in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: I liked him in, what is that, Nice Dreams? Yeah.
- 1:00:15Speaker 15: I mean, he was doing stuff a long time ago.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: Yeah. So, I mean, he is, you know, an interesting guy.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: I wish he would just get over the PB thing
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: because it was sort of at that time and place.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: And I don't know that you can go back to it.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: I wish he would just sort of focus on other
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: stuff because he's a cool character actor, like you said.
- 1:00:34Speaker 7: Adult Swim had it. probably like four or five years.
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: Ago, like 23 o'clock in the morning.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:39Speaker 7: I still love that.
- 1:00:40Speaker 8: Do you think he puts his peewee outfit on every
- 1:00:43Speaker 8: day and looks in the mirror.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: And cracks like, I was so popular. I think if anything,
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: he's probably even over it, you know, and maybe they're
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: just like, dude, you should do it, you know, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: And he's like, okay, like, He was, I know, because
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: he said he couldn't even get into it for a
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: long time. And when he got back into this in
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: the last year or two, he started them trying to
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: get back into the character and he did have to
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: go back. So I think he was sort of done
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: with it for a while and wanted to move on
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: and then realized nobody's going to let him move on.
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: Nobody's going to let him be a normal actor now.
- 1:01:11Speaker 8: It'd be weird if they did a Pee Wee movie,
- 1:01:13Speaker 8: but it wasn't him.
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: Oh, God. Now we've invited that shit. Sean William Scott.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: Yeah, really, that's Pee Wee.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: Johnny Depp is Pee Wee.
- 1:01:25Speaker 7: And Tim Burton.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: Tim Burton.
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: The Adventures of Pee Wee 2. God, that's what's going
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: to happen.
- 1:01:32Speaker 7: Big Top Pee Wee.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: Bigger Top Pee Wee. What else is funny?
- 1:01:44Speaker 8: Maybe that was the name of the movie that he
- 1:01:46Speaker 8: got kicked out of.
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: What was that?
- 1:01:48Speaker 8: Pee Wee and Wonderland.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: Sounds like an interesting spin-off movie right there. We can
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: make millions. Start writing that. Get on that screenplay now.
- 1:02:01Speaker 8: I didn't mean for that to come out.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: Are you okay?
- 1:02:07Speaker 7: It's such a cackle.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: Nice.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 1:02:12Speaker 8: Moving right along.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: All right. I'm still trying to get through this. Maybe
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: if I do this enough, I'll get used to this
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: guy's name, and it won't be such a fight every time,
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: because he comes up every other week. Director Timber Bekmabitov.
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: Bekmabitov. Bekmabitov.
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: Bekmabitov. Bekmabitov.
- 1:02:30Speaker 7: Oh, now it means nothing.
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: Bekmabitov.
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: There you go.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: Anyway, the director of Wanted and Nightwatch, He is in
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: talks with Universal Pictures about an English-language remake of the
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: recent Russian action hit Black Lightning, which he also produced.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: Black Lightning.
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: I've never heard of it. I watched the trailer for it.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: It looks kind of interesting.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: I remember seeing the trailer, I think.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: It's not a black superhero, I hate to tell you guys.
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: They're going to lose the title to that if they
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: don't hurry up and jump on that. Yeah. If they're
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: going to do a spinoff Black Lightning, you know, superhero movie.
- 1:03:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: But, yeah, Black Lightning is a Slavic Transformers meets Batman,
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: which basically you think you're on board for. But, yeah,
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: it says the story follows a car-obsessed student who tricks
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: out his own ride and uses it to take on
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: the criminal underground.
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: What?
- 1:03:16Speaker 7: He tricked out his own ride.
- 1:03:17Speaker 6: Wow.
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: And the synopsis makes me happy.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty tight.
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: But I think it flies is the way. In the trailer,
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: it looks like it's a flying car.
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: Well, yeah.
- 1:03:28Speaker 8: That sounds like the Wraith.
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: That sounds like Mask, that cartoon where the doors fold
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: down and the car now can fly.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it's got wings, of course.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Sure, right?
- 1:03:39Speaker 7: When you said mask, I thought you meant.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: The movie with Cher.
- 1:03:42Speaker 7: No, not with Cher.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: Or Jim Carrey.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: Big face, yeah. Or big green face.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: Yeah, there's too many masks out there.
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: No more.
- 1:03:50Speaker 7: The movie was so great. The one with Cher.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: I think I was just looking to the ceiling, to
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: the heaven, so nostalgic.
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: It was so dreamy. That big meat, Eric Stoltz.
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: Eric Stoltz's face was so just.
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: I love your big, round face.
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: It looks like an orc.
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: It'd take you like hours to kiss that thing.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: That's all you.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, do you not like it anymore now?
- 1:04:14Speaker 12: Oh, no.
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: Stop shaking.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: Rocking back and forth. It's only a dream.
- 1:04:20Speaker 7: It's only a dream.
- 1:04:24Speaker 11: Oh, Lord.
- 1:04:25Speaker 8: Oh, Lord.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: So the director says there are also plans for a
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: Russian-Chinese sequel to the film. So I don't know if
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: he wants to also get on board and get a
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: sequel in the works beforehand. It's weird that we're remaking
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: because that's the thing. I'm looking at the trailer and
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: I'm like, it looks kind of cool i want to
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: go watch that one do we need to remake i
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: don't understand why americans are so dumb that they can't
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: just watch other movies exactly i bet.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: You about this all the time version of something that's
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: a lot better.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: Because i'm looking at i'm like it looks fun and
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: it looks fun because of where it is it's like
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: if you take all of this and put it in
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: the american setting yeah it almost looks like it's gonna
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: be dumb it's like i can see them just making
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: it dumb and sort of mainstreaming anything that was weird
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: because it almost a lot of these almost work because
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: of their weird tone that comes with being in that
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: country being shot in that country.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: From korea that's kind of why it's cool or whatever
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: it's yeah whatever country it's from well.
- 1:05:16Speaker 8: I think america's main problem you can go into any
- 1:05:18Speaker 8: walmart and find this out If I wanted to read
- 1:05:21Speaker 8: a fucking.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: Book, I'd just read a book. Well, that's true of me, too. But,
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: I at least acknowledge when they make a decent movie,
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: I'll just watch that. I don't always seek them out
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: because I'm a lazy bastard like the rest of America. But,
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: if I look at it and I'm like, well, that's
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: why this movie works, if you go and change everything,
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: now at least you've got somebody who, you know, is
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: sort of interested in doing it close to that version.
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: He's a fan of the original, but still, I don't know.
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: I'm looking at the trailer going, I don't know that
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: it needs to be remade. But again, this is a
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: talented guy. So I mean, it's like maybe he can
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: do something interesting with it. I don't know. He's currently
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: working on the Tim Burton adaption of the project we
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: brought up a few weeks ago, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Killer.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: So he's, yeah, he's already kind of got that going on.
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: He's still deciding whether or not he wants to do
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: a sequel for Wanted. So he's he's got all these
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: projects in the works anyway. It's just, yeah, this is
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: one of those that it seems like a cool movie. Well,
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: just the fact that they brought it up. I'm like, well, good.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: Now I need to go find black lightning and watch
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: that movie. Cause I don't know what they're going to do.
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: It's just one of those. I don't know if it's necessary,
- 1:06:23Speaker 3: but most things Hollywood does.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: It's unnecessary.
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:06:26Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: And then, uh, we have word this week that Andy
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: circus best known for Gollum and King Kong and the
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: other Peter Jackson version. But, um, He's now signed on
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: in the lead role of another ape-centric movie. He will
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: be doing the motion capture performance for the character in
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: Rise of the Apes, which we brought up a while ago,
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: but we didn't have a star or title, I don't think,
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: at that point. The prequel, remake, reboot, or whatever the
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: hell you want to call it for Planet of the Apes.
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: Which I don't think is even, I don't know, we
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: can go into that. But Circus is going to play Caesar,
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: the chimpanzee who begins to evolve during the testing of
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: a cure for Alzheimer's disease. I don't know. This is
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: one of those... I don't... As much as we like
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: to bitch about them doing remakes and prequels and all
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: that bullshit, this, I think, is removed enough. I don't
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: think I hate the idea. Because of an idea... Them
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: remaking the first Planet of the Apes again, which they
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: already did badly. Not even badly, just not the same.
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: They really just... I like that movie more than I
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: expected to. There's aspects of it that's not horrible. Overall,
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: it's not great, but it's one of those that's watchable. Still,
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: it was like the turning point for Tim Burton. It's
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: when everything started to go to hell in his career, really. But,
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: I don't know, it's one of those, that was just
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: sort of a dumb idea. It's already, that story's been
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: told and it was good the way it was, and
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: remaking is just going to rehash the same shit we've
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: already seen or do things wrong and fuck it up.
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: Where this is like, it's sort of a remake of
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, but to me,
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: number one, that's a movie most people haven't seen, unlike
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: the original.
- 1:08:07Speaker 8: I don't, I can't imagine this person that you're talking about,
- 1:08:09Speaker 8: but I just feel like it's sad that he must
- 1:08:11Speaker 8: resemble an ape so much.
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: Have you not seen Andy Serkis?
- 1:08:15Speaker 8: No, I'm Googling it right now.
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: All right, put it down. Yeah. So the, yeah, to me,
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: this is like a different enough story. It's removed enough
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: and they're going to change it quite a bit to the,
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: I feel like they could do something original with it
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: because I think they are doing it more of like
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: starting it almost modern day and then working forward to
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: what will become, because that's sort of how the whole
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: series loops around. It does this weird thing. time loop
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: where they end up going way back in time where
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: we see where the apes start turning into, how it
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: crossed over from humans losing it, and, you know, the
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: first apes that start to learn to talk and start
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: to get their human mannerisms, and you see how that
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: pans out. So I could see them doing that and
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: taking that version of it and doing something really interesting
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: with it. So I almost don't hate this idea. i
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: think if they're going to do anything to do with
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: planet of the apes this is what i'd rather see
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: them do rather than rehash another version or some other
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: take on the same thing we've already seen.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: A couple of times now I'm completely indifferent.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: You just don't like the series, I know. I'm a
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: big fan of it.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: I'm not a fan, but I haven't seen a lot
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: of it, so I really don't have anywhere to speak from.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: So I can't, you know, that's why I am indifferent,
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: because I just, I don't know.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: That's the thing. I think the first one's amazing. I
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: really like the third one. The second one's just sort
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: of a remake of the first one. It was just
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: them sort of cashing in on it.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: What was the movie about, and talking about war games
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: and Matthew Broderick, That was, he was, it was like
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: a chimp was in this program project.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: Um, yeah, I do know what that is. Hold on
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: a second.
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: That's what I was thinking of when you were saying this, like, Oh, okay. Like, Oh,
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: this is going to be like that. What was that?
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: Something project, special projects to a project.
- 1:09:57Speaker 7: Dunstan checks in.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: Apes are great.
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: Dunstan checks in. Oh, my God. Yes, Dunstan checks in.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: That's a freaking movie. The military project Dunstan.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: He just goes in there with two guns.
- 1:10:06Speaker 8: Ow, ow.
- 1:10:09Speaker 6: What happened?
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: Watch your finger.
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: Watch your finger. Stitches are popping.
- 1:10:14Speaker 11: Oh, Lord.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: I'm sorry to just derail the trailer. Project X. Project X,
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: that's it.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: I knew it was in there.
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: So, yes, that's another one of those. It wasn't great,
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: but it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to remake it.
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: Again, I mean, that sort of idea, like taking something
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: like that, like a Project X idea and then having
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: it like. spill over into a planet of the apes
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: like having.
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: Our chimp our testing yeah yeah that'd be interesting.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: Our testing like lead to the downfall of mankind and
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: then end up being the rise of the apes i
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: mean that is sort of the basic plot line so
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: to see them do kind of a cool and like
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: intricate story because the last two in that series get
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: kind of weird and you don't get like a hands-on
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: version of it it's just sort of stuff happens and
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: they focus more on the war of apes that happens
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: yeah But, yeah, I think this would be cooler if
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: it was more like a lab version. Like, we really
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: have them working on this, you know, the experiments. And
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: we see, especially, I mean, they've got James Franco, Frida Pinto,
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: and John Lithgow are cast as the humans.
- 1:11:12Speaker 9: Oh, wow.
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: So if you've got, like, Lithgow in a lab coat
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: working on apes, you know, I think that's an angle
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: that could be cool and could actually be, you know,
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: something really well done could come out of that. Doesn't
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: mean it's going to happen, but, yeah.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:11:27Speaker 7: Can we get a cameo from Harry and Henderson's?
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: Oh, God. He's just going to walk by. He's not
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: even in the movie. Just, like, walk past the frame.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: With the iconic, like, Bigfoot, like, looking over his shoulder.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: That lumber.
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: Did I just see? Harry? Never mind. I've got to
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: get back to work.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: I thought I threw you out after you mated with
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: my daughter.
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: Oh, that's fine. How do you think you get all
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: those Weekly World News stories?
- 1:11:54Speaker 6: Gross.
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: So have you found Andy Serkis yet?
- 1:11:57Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: And he's dreamy.
- 1:11:59Speaker 8: He doesn't look like a monkey.
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: Well, that's what the CGI is for. That's why they
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: put white dots on him and stand in front of
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: a blue screen. He doesn't have to look like anything, really.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: He just has to move in a fancy way.
- 1:12:13Speaker 8: I mean, who is it?
- 1:12:14Speaker 7: I have a friend who looks like Gollum.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: Poor girl.
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: Poor girl.
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: Oh, my God. Gollette.
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: We'll be nice and not call her out by name.
- 1:12:25Speaker 7: He does look like Gollum.
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: Oh, that.
- 1:12:28Speaker 7: Smeagol.
- 1:12:29Speaker 8: That scares me more than anything, other than Dr. Phil.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: God, don't let him in a movie, please. Dr.
- 1:12:36Speaker 8: Phil and Gollum scare me more than anything.
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: Those are healthy fears.
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: I watched Return of the King last night, and all
- 1:12:42Speaker 5: I wanted to do was just play with Smeagol.
- 1:12:44Speaker 6: Ugh.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: Is that what you're thinking about?
- 1:12:47Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: Oh, that's hot.
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: Little hot smegalax.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: I don't know how to feel about this.
- 1:12:55Speaker 7: I have a thing for cave dwellers.
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: Well, that's awesome.
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: Well, what does that say about you, Roger?
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: With a little tattered loincloth. I mean, okay. We can
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: role play, baby.
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: Whatever.
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: Next thing you know. Precious.
- 1:13:10Speaker 7: I actually found a ring.
- 1:13:12Speaker 5: I was at this little man-made lake in the middle
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: of Kentucky, and I was just sitting on the beach playing.
- 1:13:17Speaker 7: And I look down, and there's this gold ring with
- 1:13:19Speaker 7: Elvin written on it, and I'm like, Oh, what? I
- 1:13:24Speaker 7: immediately put it on, and I was.
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: Like, No one can see me. I have been chosen.
- 1:13:30Speaker 11: Swam around like a mermaid for a while.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: I am the chosen one. You cannot touch my ring.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: Precious.
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: Precious.
- 1:13:40Speaker 8: Actually, I do think I'm still more afraid of Dr.
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: Phil.
- 1:13:44Speaker 8: He blinks his eyes weird and he does that little
- 1:13:46Speaker 8: finger thing like the kid in The Shining.
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: I hate that bastard. I don't even watch him enough
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: to know what he does.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: I hate that bastard.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: Oh, Lord. All right. I think that will round out
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: the buzz. We will go into this week's fabulous Greedo
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: Bloody Greedo interview. Yes. Nobody cares.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: No, yes. No, yes.
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: Oh, yes. Maria de Aragon. The reason for this trilogy
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: of terror. So, yeah, we tracked her down and sat
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: down with her. She's actually, she was willing, surprisingly. Nice.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: She's actually really nice, and I didn't know what to
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: expect going in, because, yeah, and I think a few
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: of them I hadn't seen at the time, so I
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: was asking her now about some very scandalous movies, I suppose.
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: A few of them I was, yeah, and she took
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: to answering the questions kind of well. At first, she's
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: sort of taken aback, I think, that I even want
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: to ask about some of these really old ones, but...
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: As she gets into it, yeah, she starts telling some
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: of these stories about him. And then, of course, I
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: have to round it out. Because usually, yeah, I talk
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: to these people that have been in huge projects like
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: Star Wars. So, I mean, everybody asks me about Star Wars.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: I usually don't have anything. I kind of avoided it
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: with Billy Dee Williams, too. It's like everybody's going to
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: ask you about him. But sometimes I like to ask
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: about the weirder, more of the effects on your life
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: kind of thing.
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: So I did that with Billy Dee. And with her,
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: I was kind of like, well, up until the re-editing,
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: the re-imagining that Lucas did years ago, it changed everything.
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: And this big upheaval came along. And she sort of,
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: her character sort of fell in the spotlight again and
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: got a ton of amount of attention thrown upon it.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: To this day, people continually reference that. So I did
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: go ahead and ask her about that. I wanted to
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: know what she thought about the... ridiculous amount of attention
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: that has fallen upon the who shot first nonsense that
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: came about john so yeah we will see uh what
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: maria has to say more.
- 1:15:46Speaker 15: Than just star wars kind of want to talk about
- 1:15:48Speaker 15: the whole the whole acting career um it's uh difficult because.
- 1:15:51Speaker 9: Of the fact that you know i haven't been in
- 1:15:54Speaker 9: that of course, Star Wars in six years. And of course,
- 1:16:03Speaker 9: my career, I think theater, And the 90s, I started
- 1:16:11Speaker 9: to do other.
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: Kinds of work.
- 1:16:14Speaker 9: And in 2000, I came back to Canada. And I've
- 1:16:20Speaker 9: been in Canada four and a half years now. And Montreal,
- 1:16:24Speaker 9: just one year. But that's where I was born. And
- 1:16:26Speaker 9: it's family.
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: There's a lot of family here.
- 1:16:29Speaker 9: And concerning, you know, my health, it's one of the
- 1:16:34Speaker 9: first times in my life that I take time out
- 1:16:37Speaker 9: of it for other people.
- 1:16:38Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:16:39Speaker 9: So I've not really been into career, career, you know.
- 1:16:43Speaker 9: But now that I'm coming back into the conventions, hopefully
- 1:16:47Speaker 9: some opportunities will come my way.
- 1:16:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:16:50Speaker 9: And I'll definitely want to deal with that.
- 1:16:54Speaker 15: As far as, like, early on, like, how did a
- 1:16:56Speaker 15: girl from Quebec end up in the movies?
- 1:16:59Speaker 9: Oh, well, wait a minute. I went there when I
- 1:17:02Speaker 9: was 21 years old.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:17:05Speaker 9: Frank Sinatra had just married Mia Farrow. So it's quite
- 1:17:09Speaker 9: a while back. I met a couple of people, Howard Codd,
- 1:17:14Speaker 9: Sean Frankenheimer, and they put me in films with John
- 1:17:17Speaker 9: Derrick and Ursula Anderson. Another film that I did have
- 1:17:23Speaker 9: so many stars in it, George Kennedy, Sammy Davis, everybody
- 1:17:27Speaker 9: was in the, you know. And I just had a
- 1:17:30Speaker 9: small part, but it was a fun film to do.
- 1:17:33Speaker 9: And then I got real serious and someone approached me
- 1:17:35Speaker 9: in acting class, Peter Carpenter, who became a producer. And
- 1:17:40Speaker 9: I've made two, three films with him. And then we
- 1:17:43Speaker 9: went to Manila and we did an adventure film called
- 1:17:46Speaker 9: Wonder Women with Nancy Kwan. And, gosh, I'm trying to
- 1:17:52Speaker 9: think of all these. I've made about 10 to 12,
- 1:17:54Speaker 9: 13 films.
- 1:17:55Speaker 15: Yeah, I was looking back at some of the earlier ones.
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: I was going to see what you remembered or if.
- 1:17:59Speaker 15: You had any specific thoughts of Love Me Like I Do.
- 1:18:03Speaker 11: Oh, yes.
- 1:18:03Speaker 9: Oh, yes, I have a copy of that. And it
- 1:18:07Speaker 9: was probably my very first film.
- 1:18:09Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:18:10Speaker 9: And it was people who came from.
- 1:18:18Speaker 9: Not strange, but far away, very far away. Naturally, it
- 1:18:24Speaker 9: was on the shelf for a lot of years until
- 1:18:26Speaker 9: I did something. And they might have had, you know,
- 1:18:29Speaker 9: the news about Greedo and said, oh, let's bring that
- 1:18:32Speaker 9: back out. But it's not something, you know, that I regret.
- 1:18:38Speaker 9: You have to learn somehow, somewhere to have film to
- 1:18:42Speaker 9: present yourself.
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: And....
- 1:18:45Speaker 9: From love me like I do to blood mania to.
- 1:18:49Speaker 12: how was that working on that side oh blood mania
- 1:18:52Speaker 12: was fun alex roffa was in that you know that
- 1:18:56Speaker 12: and uh yeah no that was a good horror movie i.
- 1:18:59Speaker 9: Mean it became sort of a classic for its time
- 1:19:02Speaker 9: you know and uh But to say the truth, there
- 1:19:08Speaker 9: was nothing, I prayed for a role that would be unforgettable.
- 1:19:13Speaker 9: And I was thinking of Susan Flannery in Towering Inferno.
- 1:19:18Speaker 9: Out the window, Robert Wagner's girlfriend for a minute, and
- 1:19:24Speaker 9: never to be forgotten. So, sure enough, my prayer became answered,
- 1:19:29Speaker 9: and I got a small part, and with the years
- 1:19:31Speaker 9: learned that that small part was a very important film,
- 1:19:35Speaker 9: a very important director. And in 98, I believe, I
- 1:19:39Speaker 9: met Derek, and he was at the Things from Another
- 1:19:46Speaker 9: World at a science fiction shop, and I asked him for...
- 1:19:51Speaker 9: action figures and told him that I played the role
- 1:19:54Speaker 9: and from there we started the convention and made it
- 1:19:58Speaker 9: I've gone all over the world for them and I
- 1:20:01Speaker 9: enjoy it meeting the people sometimes three generations in one
- 1:20:05Speaker 9: day yeah to be able to travel years later, you know.
- 1:20:11Speaker 15: It's unusual to have it carry on this long. As
- 1:20:15Speaker 15: far as the special edition, when they went back through,
- 1:20:17Speaker 15: do you still get a lot of people asking about
- 1:20:19Speaker 15: the whole who shot her?
- 1:20:20Speaker 9: How do I feel about being the killer instead of
- 1:20:23Speaker 9: the victim? Well, I love Harrison a lot, and I
- 1:20:27Speaker 9: could understand from a point of view of a director...
- 1:20:30Speaker 9: why he wouldn't want his hero to be a killer.
- 1:20:35Speaker 9: But as far as I'm concerned, I don't think it
- 1:20:37Speaker 9: hurt me.
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: I think it helped me. It definitely got a lot
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: more attention. Or, you know, who's Greedo? What did he do?
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: Did he change?
- 1:20:44Speaker 6: Oh, my God.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: So, yeah.
- 1:20:47Speaker 9: Well, at first they cared about me because I was
- 1:20:49Speaker 9: a victim. Then they cared about me because I really
- 1:20:51Speaker 9: did took the job. I did the job, yeah.
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: That's interesting.
- 1:20:56Speaker 9: All right.
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: I wish my cap should.
- 1:20:58Speaker 9: Come once in a lifetime or twice.
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: Maybe it's still coming. You never know. Another one still
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: coming out?
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: I'm ready.
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: Well, we want to thank you for talking to us today,
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: and it's been good.
- 1:21:08Speaker 9: Oh, my pleasure. Yep, definitely.
- 1:21:10Speaker 15: Thank you.
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: So thank you for talking to us, Maria, and that
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: was pretty awesome. And we wanted to thank the people
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: at Cool Waters Productions who actually helped us set up
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: that discussion with Maria and basically made Greedo Bloody Greedo possible. Word.
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: So thank you to everyone involved.
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: The world thanks you.
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: Mm-hmm. So yeah, we'll have a little more of her
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: stories later in the run. I think that was most,
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: she didn't go too much into today's movie, but, uh,
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: the next few weeks, I think she's got a few
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: snippets to pass on to us later, but I guess
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: that will round out this first half of the here.
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: We're going to go actually watch the first in the
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: trilogy here and prepare ourselves for, uh, this week's sofa
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: theater feature. Blood mania.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: Blood mania.
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: But I'm going to try to tie in as many
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: Greedo-related songs in this next series here. So this one
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: will go out on a song called Broken Greedo, which
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: really has very little to do with the character or
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: Maria herself. But I like the song, and it's kind
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: of fun.
- 1:22:08Speaker 6: Cool.
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: All right. Once again, we invite you to come back
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: and join us as we discuss Blood Mania.
- 1:22:14Speaker 7: Yay, come back.
- 1:22:15Speaker 12: Please.
- 1:22:16Speaker 8: Please.
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: I saw you naked, it's time to go I.
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: Screwed you girl, now it's time to go Now.
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: It's my chance to leave And.
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: It's my time to go Now it's my time to go.
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: .
- 1:23:10Speaker 7: .
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: .
- 1:23:26Speaker 7: .
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: .
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: Now it's my chance to.
- 1:23:58Speaker 7: Leave And it's my time.
