[SPEAKER_00]: their performances, the way that they are playing right now, not just against the jets, but in general, is like shocking to me, surprising how well these players are playing, how much of an impact positive impact they are having for the jag wars right now.

[SPEAKER_00]: I think this team has been so much fun to cover from the coaches, to the players, to the onfield product, it has been a joy to be around this year.

[SPEAKER_00]: But they have been, from start to finish, a fun team to cover, they have figured themselves and I shouldn't say finish, right, from the beginning until now.

[SPEAKER_00]: handling, bumps in the road, figuring out different ways to solve issues because there have been issues that have been presented this year, showing resiliency, all that stuff.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I think his performance has even surprised and impressed the Jaguar's coaching staff because he didn't even enter the season as a starter.

[SPEAKER_00]: He was getting some legitimate run early on.

[SPEAKER_00]: But due to injuries at the safety position Antonio Johnson was forced into a larger role.

[SPEAKER_00]: and goodness gracious.

[SPEAKER_00]: This guy has been unbelievable.

[SPEAKER_00]: And this is kind of what I expected to see.

[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so his rookie year, he was playing like a big nickel, dime type of roll, like run defense nickel, but you know, also cover in some big slot receivers and things like that and doing a good job.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that was more towards the end of the year where he was starting to get that roll.

[SPEAKER_00]: But then he enters 2024 on a defense where pretty much everybody played at a career low outside of very few players in 2024.

[SPEAKER_00]: And it didn't go well, it was ugly.

[SPEAKER_00]: point blank, period, end of story, did not go well for Antonio Johnson last year, fast forward to 2025, the off season.

[SPEAKER_00]: It didn't even feel like a guarantee that he was going to be kept on the team, but he did have a good off season.

[SPEAKER_00]: He did have a good training camp, preseason, and then thrust into action, I think that he was earning some reps early on in this season.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's been such a positive impact.

[SPEAKER_00]: And this is a player I loved coming out of Texas A&M.

[SPEAKER_00]: But it did not feel like things were headed in the right direction for 2025.

[SPEAKER_00]: And you could say that for a lot of players that are currently performing well for the Jack Wars.

[SPEAKER_00]: What a difference, a year coaching staff can make, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: But Antonio Johnson, whether it be in coverage where, you know, he's allowing seven point five yards per catch, he's been the primary coverage guy on 25 targets by opposing defense, which is just kind of a little bit of a testament to his positioning, right?

[SPEAKER_00]: when he's out there on the field, because he's been in position a lot.

[SPEAKER_00]: And that was an issue for him earlier and his career was even an issue at times earlier this year, where like, it just felt like he wasn't reading it perfectly.

[SPEAKER_00]: But he has in a complex defense, started to become one of those players where you feel like you can rely that he's gonna be where he's supposed to be when he's supposed to be there a lot more often than not.

[SPEAKER_00]: When he's the primary coverage player, I mean, he's picked off three passes.

[SPEAKER_00]: The pass he picked off against the jet yesterday was sick.

[SPEAKER_00]: not going against great players, but like he went up and over, he looked like he was the receiver on that play, the way he attacked the football.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's got three interceptions He's Blitzing a fair amount too and when he's asked to blitz he's getting home and hitting the quarterback doing a good job in that regard He's not missing tackles

[SPEAKER_00]: When the Jaguar was initially traded for him, I was excited about that.

[SPEAKER_00]: And I was a fan of him coming out of Wisconsin.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's a good athlete.

[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't have all the measurables that everybody always looks for.

[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't like, he's not like a good off the bus guy like Walker Little.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's been playing a lot of left tackle the last three weeks and he's been moved up and down the line of Scrimmage due to injuries.

[SPEAKER_00]: I really believe that in my heart of hearts And I would be very disappointed if that's not the case moving forward and you know you never know he could be exposed at some point and then you have to

[SPEAKER_00]: go back to the drawing board a little bit, but the way he's playing in the versatility he shown to literally play left tackle, left guard, right guard, right tackle, and then, you know, come in as the starting left tackle the last couple weeks.

[SPEAKER_00]: And against Tennessee, he was playing right guard, Walker little one down with a concussion.

[SPEAKER_00]: He had to shift mid game to left tackle, and kudos to why I'm island for handling his business, too.

[SPEAKER_00]: and did great, goes against the colds the next week, did great, goes against the jets the next week, did great, and he's physical, he finishes, he is very consistent with his fundamentals.

[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I feel like I have noticed most from Colvin Lannan is that he gets his hand in the right place at the right time, very consistently, both hands, get some inside the, and that's really impressive to me.

[SPEAKER_00]: The last two weeks as a starter, you know, a, the Jaguar's pass pro has looked better.

[SPEAKER_00]: Not just because of him, but in general, it's been better the last few weeks, but the last two weeks, him starting at left tackle, he is surrendered one pressure on,

[SPEAKER_00]: I know PFF will tell you he's been like kind of average, but the way I look at PFF, I think it's an invaluable resource for the stats that they can provide to help contextualize what you're seeing.

[SPEAKER_00]: But I think Buster, you know, Monterey Buster Brown has been critical for the Jaguars.

[SPEAKER_00]: They don't have the best corner back room right now, but obviously, nickel is a different story.

[SPEAKER_00]: They have a very good nickel group, two guys that are excellent, you know, Jordan, Lose and Jari and Jones, but, you know, outside corner has been a little bit up and down a little topsy-turvy.

[SPEAKER_00]: weather essentially there's just a couple of opportunities that they missed trying to link up because of the weather you know Trevor missed him high on one where he couldn't get his feet down Jacobi dropped one he never drops like but outside of that you look at these just the efficiency right against the Texans and his first game with the Jaguars he helped them

[SPEAKER_00]: It got called back due to a penalty on the Jaguar's offensive line, I believe, but caught all of his passes in that game.

[SPEAKER_00]: He's on pace like a 17-game pace with the Jag Wars for over a thousand yards receiving for eight touchdowns.

[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's been good counting numbers wise, but it's really the efficiency and the immediate connection that he and Trevor have, the strong hands, but really like the,

[SPEAKER_00]: The skill set that he brings, we mention all this and good route runner strong handle that.

[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks to Jakobi Myers, also you know, Britain's strange helps in that regard a little bit too and Parker Washington, when he's healthy, but Jakobi Myers has been the biggest catalyst for the change in the Jaguars, in my opinion.

[SPEAKER_00]: month and a half for this Jaguar's offense.

[SPEAKER_00]: And since he arrived in Jacksonville, they're averaging over 30 points per game.

[SPEAKER_00]: He got here for Houston week 10 right after the Jaguar's barely beat Jacobi Myers in the Raiders, another game which the Jaguar scored 30 points.

[SPEAKER_00]: This passing offense changing outside of Trevor Lawrence is getting more comfortable, but part of that is Jacobi Myers being here part of that is Britain strange getting back Part of that is the developing chemistry with Parker Washington part of that is left tackles been better over the last month right guard has been better over the last month

[SPEAKER_00]: It's all working together right now, offensively, and then you're also getting some more turnovers, too, that helps you with short fields.

[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, it's exceptional stuff right now for Jacobi Myers, and the Jaguar's must retain Jacobi Myers, who just turned 29, I think, has first gained what the Jaguar was the day he turned 29.

[SPEAKER_00]: forced into more action with Traybom walkers and it will really, so Traybom walker had some injuries, you know, earlier in the year, missed some time, the wrist injury, and they leaned the Jaguar's leaned more heavily on like Agba and smoot, and that just didn't go very well.

[SPEAKER_00]: So Strigo starts earning more reps as an undrafted free agent at a Minnesota.

[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, shout out to BJ Green as well, but Strickau's taking the lead in terms of like being getting more reps and he did get an ankle injury this past week.
