- 0:00Speaker 1: Coming up on this week's episode of Hip Hop Now podcast,
- 0:04Speaker 1: It's been thirty years since the release of Tupac's Biggie
- 0:08Speaker 1: and Everybody Else dis record Hit Him Up thirty eight
- 0:12Speaker 1: Special challenges Jadakiss Bar foot Bar and does jay Z
- 0:19Speaker 1: need to drop an album now?
- 0:22Speaker 2: Because he was talking, he was talking tough.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I know he was getting some stuff off his jess
- 0:27Speaker 1: you know, at the Roots Picnic.
- 0:29Speaker 2: But you know we need an album now, Let's do it.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Welcome to Jim Hoop Now Podcasts sit you from the future.
- 0:43Speaker 2: You know what the student show ass out of some
- 0:48Speaker 2: disrespectful legs like hip hop is.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Say to stay, let's get raping to the business.
- 0:56Speaker 2: What up, y'all?
- 0:57Speaker 1: I am your host Vegas and this is Hip Now Podcasts,
- 1:01Speaker 1: a podcast specifically designed to keep you caught up on
- 1:04Speaker 1: all things hip hop, music and culture that happened throughout
- 1:08Speaker 1: the week. Big shout out to those who have been
- 1:11Speaker 1: listening for ten plus years. I'll be commemorating ten years
- 1:16Speaker 1: of honestly ten years of me taking this thing serious. Okay,
- 1:22Speaker 1: because I was doing a podcast before, but it was
- 1:24Speaker 1: just kind of a thing in audio form. And then
- 1:27Speaker 1: at some point I say, hey, people, are listening, the
- 1:30Speaker 1: audience is growing. Maybe I should pay a little bit
- 1:34Speaker 1: more attention to detail as I create this thing.
- 1:37Speaker 2: And there you have it. The rest is history. Quick
- 1:42Speaker 2: fun fact.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Maybe I'll do like an episode that's just about my
- 1:48Speaker 1: time working on this podcast. But it originally started being
- 1:53Speaker 1: it was distributed originally on SoundCloud. So shout out to
- 1:58Speaker 1: all my SoundCloud listen to this from back in the days.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Don't go over there. It's not there. I've been moved
- 2:05Speaker 2: it okay, but it is what it is.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Also shout out to the members right here on YouTube
- 2:13Speaker 1: will support this podcast and video form to bring extra
- 2:18Speaker 1: content series like the nineteen ninety six series made possible
- 2:23Speaker 1: by members like you cultivating ideas and also supporting the podcast.
- 2:28Speaker 1: And if you would like to learn how to become
- 2:30Speaker 1: a member right here on YouTube, the link is in
- 2:33Speaker 1: the description of this episode. And if you're listening and
- 2:37Speaker 1: audio you're like, oh, how I do that? Well, the
- 2:39Speaker 1: link is in your description also is everywhere. Okay, Well,
- 2:45Speaker 1: without further ado, big shout out to Hotnew hip Hop
- 2:48Speaker 1: dot com. And I keep saying it, but social media.
- 2:52Speaker 1: At some point, I'm just only going to get stories
- 2:55Speaker 1: from social media because that's just how things go right.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Like people say them go to your website to read anything.
- 3:02Speaker 1: You kind of got to post a story on social
- 3:04Speaker 1: media to get them to read the article. So somebody
- 3:08Speaker 1: like me checking out different stories. This is what it is. Okay,
- 3:14Speaker 1: So without further ado, let's get right into the business.
- 3:21Speaker 1: If you didn't know, this week marked the thirtieth anniversary
- 3:27Speaker 1: of the release of Tupac's All Time This record at
- 3:32Speaker 1: this point, Hit them Up. The record shocked the hip
- 3:38Speaker 1: hop game because it was so direct in a way
- 3:45Speaker 1: that almost felt unexpected. Should have been expected, but felt
- 3:50Speaker 1: unexpected the way it just dropped Tupac rhymen over the
- 3:56Speaker 1: same beat being used for players and the remix right
- 4:02Speaker 1: changing the lyrics instead of grab yours. If you love
- 4:06Speaker 1: hip hop, it was grab your gots when you see Tupac,
- 4:10Speaker 1: Call the cops when you see Tupac.
- 4:14Speaker 2: It was it was, it was, it was nice. You
- 4:17Speaker 2: know what I'm saying.
- 4:18Speaker 1: As a biggie fan, I remember when I first heard it,
- 4:21Speaker 1: and I kind of tell the story on an episode
- 4:25Speaker 1: in the nineteen ninety six series where me and a
- 4:28Speaker 1: homie IC talk about mcavelly All eyes on me hit
- 4:34Speaker 1: him Up.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Tupac in nineteen ninety six in.
- 4:38Speaker 1: General getting out of jail and by the end of
- 4:43Speaker 1: the year he was already dead. Ninety six was crazy
- 4:47Speaker 1: for Tupac. But this went down at this time back
- 4:51Speaker 1: in the day, and it was it was so crazy
- 4:53Speaker 1: to hear because at first, I'm like, Okay, I know
- 4:57Speaker 1: that Tupac. I mean the Tupac at Biggie, so I
- 5:00Speaker 1: kind of expected him to go at Biggie.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Not like that, but he did. But then it really
- 5:07Speaker 2: caught me off guard at the end when he was
- 5:10Speaker 2: just like Chino excel f YouTube and I was like,
- 5:14Speaker 2: what Chino, dude, Like that's what That's what I was thinking,
- 5:17Speaker 2: Like because I didn't know mob d f YouTube, don't
- 5:20Speaker 2: want of y'all got sickle cell or something. I was like, yo,
- 5:24Speaker 2: Tupac going crazy. And then an interview Rest in Peace
- 5:28Speaker 2: Tupac and Prodigy. But in an interview where Prodigy he
- 5:32Speaker 2: said he was never really into Tupac's music until he
- 5:36Speaker 2: started dissing him. He was like, because that was that
- 5:40Speaker 2: was the energy he liked, which is crazy because Tupac
- 5:44Speaker 2: was already huge before he got on death bro right, Like,
- 5:49Speaker 2: like Prodigy, you didn't like I get around, you don't
- 5:54Speaker 2: like having fun like I don't know. But nevertheless, that
- 6:00Speaker 2: songed it changed a lot in hip hop because everything
- 6:06Speaker 2: you were hearing about Tupac at Quad Studios getting shot
- 6:12Speaker 2: and set up, and the fact that bad Boy was there,
- 6:17Speaker 2: and not that it was a problem that they were there,
- 6:21Speaker 2: Tupac just felt like they might have known that he
- 6:25Speaker 2: was about to get lined up and nobody warned him,
- 6:28Speaker 2: you know what I mean. So it was just one
- 6:30Speaker 2: of those things, a lot of misinformation. As we came
- 6:33Speaker 2: to find out, especially on the Macavelly album Against All Odds,
- 6:40Speaker 2: which I think is the better dis record, so to speak,
- 6:46Speaker 2: Tupac aired out who exactly the beef was who set
- 6:51Speaker 2: him up, Like it stopped being about pointing at bad Boy,
- 6:55Speaker 2: because I think that was the thing that was the
- 6:57Speaker 2: whole thing, with this whole East coast West Coast thing.
- 7:01Speaker 2: It just really turned into that because of rival labels
- 7:07Speaker 2: on highly successful at the time, both Death Row and
- 7:11Speaker 2: Bad Boy, and at once Tupac was on Death Row.
- 7:16Speaker 2: He was the leading artist.
- 7:17Speaker 1: He like usurped Snoop, which was crazy, but he did
- 7:21Speaker 1: because he was a proven artist who was hot again
- 7:25Speaker 1: hot before he went into prison hot Me against the
- 7:28Speaker 1: world was hot while he was in prison, and then
- 7:31Speaker 1: he comes out and does all eyes on me and
- 7:35Speaker 1: he's on fire on death row. He's just just in general, like,
- 7:39Speaker 1: I don't think anybody who who wasn't around for that
- 7:45Speaker 1: time or even tapped into hip hop understands how thick.
- 7:52Speaker 2: This guy.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Like as far as the battle, we know, Biggie didn't
- 7:56Speaker 1: really respond because Puff didn't think that was a good
- 8:00Speaker 1: idea to focus on that as opposed to focusing on
- 8:04Speaker 1: making records for fans and making money, which kind of
- 8:10Speaker 1: disappointed me because I'm like, big a battle, like, you
- 8:13Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, But it didn't happen. Big said
- 8:18Speaker 1: the subliminals he could say, but you know, it was
- 8:21Speaker 1: well known that he wanted to respond and hit him up.
- 8:24Speaker 1: But Mob Deep responded in nineteen ninety six, and I
- 8:29Speaker 1: have an episode with the Brother East coming up later
- 8:37Speaker 1: this year, nineteen ninety six, but it's on Mob Deep's
- 8:40Speaker 1: third album, Hell on Earth, drop a gem on him.
- 8:45Speaker 1: We have the whole New York State aiming at your
- 8:48Speaker 1: face out the gate, bottom line off top. As soon
- 8:52Speaker 1: as you came through shots, you know what happened sixty
- 8:57Speaker 1: g's worth a gun clapping? Who shot you? Probably screamed
- 9:01Speaker 1: louder than the Opera New York. Gotcha? Now you want
- 9:05Speaker 1: to use my mob as a crutch, which you think
- 9:07Speaker 1: you can't get bucked again once again?
- 9:12Speaker 2: Nineteen ninety six.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Was crazy, like it was a lot going on, man,
- 9:16Speaker 1: but Tupac was like at the epicenter of tension because
- 9:22Speaker 1: he didn't care.
- 9:23Speaker 2: And what I liked about hit him up again? Biggie's
- 9:25Speaker 2: my man.
- 9:27Speaker 1: But what I liked about hit him up that I've
- 9:30Speaker 1: always hated and rapped like and a lot of your
- 9:33Speaker 1: favorite artists have done it. Tupac said, no more subliminums.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I'm talking to you and I'm talking crazy. And that's
- 9:44Speaker 1: what I liked about it. Again, I liked about it.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I liked it because I was like, okay, wait for
- 9:49Speaker 1: big versus and it was like, oh, puff said, now,
- 9:54Speaker 1: So what do you think thirty years later about hit
- 9:59Speaker 1: him Up? I know some people who used to like
- 10:03Speaker 1: Tupac who stopped liking him because they felt like he
- 10:06Speaker 1: was being like a troublemaker or something like that. What
- 10:09Speaker 1: were your thoughts back then? That wasn't me, But I
- 10:13Speaker 1: know some people who did think like that, So leave
- 10:16Speaker 1: your thoughts in a comment section below.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Next same.
- 10:23Speaker 1: So I'm not gonna lie, man. This happened from me
- 10:27Speaker 1: scrolling just being on Twitter and really looking at the
- 10:33Speaker 1: sports tweets and then seeing a line that said thirty
- 10:40Speaker 1: eight Special says he washed Jadakiss and Jadakiss is afraid, No,
- 10:48Speaker 1: Jadakiss is afraid to get on a record with him again.
- 10:53Speaker 1: And I was like, what did he say that? Because again,
- 10:56Speaker 1: I work in media. You can't really just take that
- 11:00Speaker 1: people tight, you know, even when they try to quote
- 11:04Speaker 1: something and make you think, oh, this comes from an
- 11:06Speaker 1: actual source. But they had a video and I was like,
- 11:11Speaker 1: and I was in a gym. I was like, it
- 11:12Speaker 1: was only two minutes and I was like, okay, I
- 11:14Speaker 1: have to hear him say this, and it's not hearing
- 11:18Speaker 1: him say it is how he said it. Because they
- 11:22Speaker 1: can type whatever they want up top, but if it's
- 11:25Speaker 1: taken out of context, it can go left right, well
- 11:29Speaker 1: win left anyway, because when I pressed, when I pressed,
- 11:33Speaker 1: played thirty eight Special reference the song that he was
- 11:39Speaker 1: on with Benny the Butcher and Jadakiss on the plugs
- 11:43Speaker 1: I met called Sunday School and saying how he washed
- 11:50Speaker 1: he really was saying he washed both of them, Benny
- 11:53Speaker 1: and Kiss on that track, which I agree, but he
- 11:59Speaker 1: was more importantly he's saying, Kiss ain't never want to
- 12:03Speaker 1: do a song with me again. Now I took that
- 12:06Speaker 1: as oh, maybe he put in feature requests multiple times
- 12:11Speaker 1: and wasn't able to get Kiss on the record. So
- 12:15Speaker 1: now here he's talking and some of that is a
- 12:17Speaker 1: little saltiness, right, because that's how the jay Z Nas
- 12:20Speaker 1: joint got started.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Nas was like, nah, I don't want to be on
- 12:23Speaker 1: Reasonable down, Nah, I don't want to be on your
- 12:26Speaker 1: next album or this album with that album, So jay
- 12:29Speaker 1: Z was probably feeling like, hey man, I thought we were.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Cool, Like what's it's good with you? Like?
- 12:36Speaker 1: And then we got a bunch of subliminals until Jay
- 12:40Speaker 1: which I gave him props too, when he said asks
- 12:42Speaker 1: Nas he don't want to hold I'm like, yes, let's
- 12:46Speaker 1: let's get to it. And for y'all for quest love,
- 12:50Speaker 1: I know you're afraid, we'll talk about you later because
- 12:53Speaker 1: you feel.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Like, well, we got it.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Because his battle rap is a part of hip hop
- 13:00Speaker 1: doesn't have to be beef. You're letting, you're letting your
- 13:04Speaker 1: friends and y'all know what friends and talking about call
- 13:09Speaker 1: battle rap a beef. It's not a beef. A beef
- 13:12Speaker 1: is a beef. Okay, shout out to Easy Money. He
- 13:16Speaker 1: says something like bet it's beef or something. I'm butchering
- 13:20Speaker 1: the line, but it's like beef is when you see
- 13:23Speaker 1: each other and you reach for your strap. Right, So
- 13:27Speaker 1: don't call battle rap beef. Right, it's battle rap. It's
- 13:32Speaker 1: testing each other's skills, wordplay, all of that good stuff
- 13:38Speaker 1: had to head. You know what I'm saying, Mono we mono,
- 13:41Speaker 1: uh if you for the post gods out there. But
- 13:46Speaker 1: I thought it was interesting because part of him was
- 13:50Speaker 1: kind of being competitive with it the way he said this,
- 13:57Speaker 1: like come on, Kiss, let's get on the track. Because
- 14:01Speaker 1: I think if Kiss got on the track with him,
- 14:03Speaker 1: I don't think it would be about him saying yeah
- 14:07Speaker 1: you see. I think I think he just wants to
- 14:10Speaker 1: work with him. And I think he also as an
- 14:15Speaker 1: as an artist who has a fan base, and it's
- 14:19Speaker 1: probably not growing because unfortunately, casuals just don't want to
- 14:24Speaker 1: hear boom back. They don't care how nice you are
- 14:27Speaker 1: at it. And thirty eight, specially to me, is one
- 14:29Speaker 1: of the top five nicest dudes rapping right now. My
- 14:34Speaker 1: only gripe, and it's my personal gripe, is sometimes I
- 14:38Speaker 1: can't take his voice, or not his voice, but maybe
- 14:42Speaker 1: his maybe it's his accent. But we've had rappers from
- 14:47Speaker 1: like Rochester before. They don't sound like that. I don't
- 14:50Speaker 1: think so. But that was the thing that always kind
- 14:53Speaker 1: of bothered me. But that's so that's small because it
- 14:57Speaker 1: doesn't matter. I still recognize he he could spit okay,
- 15:02Speaker 1: he told no lies about Sunday School. And I feel
- 15:06Speaker 1: like in recent years, Jadakiss has phoned his verses in.
- 15:14Speaker 1: He's a prime example. Right when we finally got Fabulous
- 15:19Speaker 1: and Jadakiss Freddy versus Jason album, I was like, man,
- 15:23Speaker 1: this is about to be a bar fest. I can't wait.
- 15:28Speaker 1: And Fabulous washed him on almost every record. And I'm
- 15:31Speaker 1: not saying that because I'm from Brooklyn. I don't get
- 15:33Speaker 1: down like this. Some whack dudes from Brooklyn too, But
- 15:36Speaker 1: I kind of felt like, damn, I kind of expected
- 15:40Speaker 1: more from Kiss. It's Jadakiss, right, and I think because
- 15:46Speaker 1: of the verses, it reminded people of how nice Kiss is.
- 15:54Speaker 1: So now when he rapped, just hearing his voice and
- 15:57Speaker 1: hearing him say things, people act like it's crazy already,
- 16:02Speaker 1: but we're really just living off the past. Even even
- 16:05Speaker 1: at the verses that wasn't new, that wasn't new versus,
- 16:09Speaker 1: that was new rhymes, right, that wasn't new rhymes, that
- 16:15Speaker 1: was prime Jada Kiss rhymes that he just performed. You
- 16:20Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, because that's what verses are. But
- 16:22Speaker 1: when you talk about new verses and his exhibit B
- 16:25Speaker 1: and I'm with thirty eight Special, like yo, jump on
- 16:29Speaker 1: another track together.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Man, it's the sport.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Right when you think about every time you hear Methi
- 16:36Speaker 1: Man on these records with these guys, what does everybody
- 16:40Speaker 1: say about Methi Man yos, Meths still in pockets, Meth's
- 16:47Speaker 1: still dope, he still got it, yo, yo yo. You
- 16:51Speaker 1: don't hear that one Kiss show up on these projects.
- 16:55Speaker 1: And lastly, I'll just say, does he have to? Jadakiss
- 17:03Speaker 1: is already proven. He don't have to prove to somebody
- 17:08Speaker 1: who's jadak Let me put it this way, Jadakiss is
- 17:11Speaker 1: proven on a level that thirty eight Special hasn't reached yet.
- 17:17Speaker 1: And in a lot of ways, calling out Kiss is
- 17:21Speaker 1: a way to kind of pull yourself up, like, but
- 17:24Speaker 1: Kiss has to cooperate, right, he has to acknowledge it,
- 17:29Speaker 1: he has to acknology, he has to do something whatever,
- 17:33Speaker 1: and I feel like.
- 17:36Speaker 2: He don't care. Jadakiss has already stamped.
- 17:41Speaker 1: You can't take his history of crazy bars that probably
- 17:46Speaker 1: influence you, thirty eight specially and he probably would say that.
- 17:50Speaker 1: But you also can't get on like I could. I
- 17:54Speaker 1: couldn't see a young NBA player at the time playing
- 17:58Speaker 1: against Jordan with the when Jordan played with the Wizards
- 18:02Speaker 1: and saying he tried she don't dunk no more. This
- 18:05Speaker 1: is Michael Jordan. You haven't done anything close to what
- 18:10Speaker 1: Michael Jordan has done, and now here you try to
- 18:14Speaker 1: challenge him because he old like we just gonna like
- 18:18Speaker 1: you're gonna usurp Jadakiss in all minds because you says
- 18:22Speaker 1: you're better and you proved it on the record, when
- 18:25Speaker 1: he clearly just raps now like he's there's no hunger
- 18:31Speaker 1: when you hear new Jadakiss verses.
- 18:33Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Now, this is what should have happened if thirty eight
- 18:38Speaker 1: specs wanted to dance for real. There's one person in
- 18:43Speaker 1: the locks he couldn't have said that about without him
- 18:46Speaker 1: responding right away, and that's styles p. Jadakiss is chilling.
- 18:53Speaker 1: You could tell he's chilling. Look how he sits on
- 18:56Speaker 1: the couch on the Fat Joe podcast. He's chilling. He's
- 18:59Speaker 1: not trying to be the best. He's trying to get money,
- 19:03Speaker 1: have businesses, build some generational wealth if he can, you know,
- 19:08Speaker 1: rap on the thing here and there, probably you know,
- 19:10Speaker 1: working on a Locks album. That's where he is. But
- 19:16Speaker 1: there's a part of me that feels like Jadakiss will
- 19:20Speaker 1: not like hearing that and will respond in some way
- 19:26Speaker 1: because I can't imagine being in the Locks with somebody
- 19:29Speaker 1: like Style's p and Style's head thirty eight specially say
- 19:33Speaker 1: that and not come to you like yo, you're gonna
- 19:37Speaker 1: talk to him or not? And the Locks are a
- 19:43Speaker 1: lot like the Woo you may have said, Jadakiss. But
- 19:49Speaker 1: now maybe you have problems with Styles and Chic And
- 19:52Speaker 1: I don't mean beef again battle because it's happened before.
- 19:58Speaker 1: It's happened a couple of times, so we'll see. But again,
- 20:03Speaker 1: I don't think thirty eight specially was being disrespectful. I
- 20:08Speaker 1: think he was just being competitive and I like it
- 20:11Speaker 1: so and lastly say so right after I dropped my
- 20:18Speaker 1: episode last week about Jada Jadakiss about jay Z.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Saying that well, saying that graffiti isn't a part of
- 20:30Speaker 2: hip hop.
- 20:31Speaker 1: But if you watch that episode, I think some of
- 20:34Speaker 1: that was taken out of context. But nevertheless, he kind
- 20:40Speaker 1: of wipes that news story right away because he does
- 20:45Speaker 1: a freestyle at the Roots Picnic dissing everybody that distance.
- 20:52Speaker 1: He brings out the rock state property. Excuse me bleak,
- 20:58Speaker 1: that's all the that's all everybody talked about breaking down
- 21:01Speaker 1: the bars and it was dope. Some of them bars
- 21:07Speaker 1: were battle rap bars. I was like, yo, Jayan pocket
- 21:12Speaker 1: and I tweeted, jay Z doesn't waste versus. Okay, if
- 21:21Speaker 1: you hear it at a show, you're gonna hear it
- 21:24Speaker 1: on a song. That's his history. Now he may just
- 21:28Speaker 1: be like nah, I just wanted to get that off
- 21:30Speaker 1: and let social media do his thing, and that's that.
- 21:34Speaker 2: But historically jay Z is always from day one. Trust me.
- 21:40Speaker 1: I was at shows where early jay Z Empty House
- 21:47Speaker 1: does Friend of Foe and me and my friends like, yo,
- 21:50Speaker 1: that's crazy, blah blah blah, But we didn't know it
- 21:53Speaker 1: was friend to Froe, it was just it was a freestyle.
- 21:56Speaker 1: We thought he was just like, yo, let me get
- 21:58Speaker 1: let me give them some bonuses.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Acts.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Now is he don't want that will hold You thought
- 22:06Speaker 1: that was just a summer jam flood. No, that was takeover.
- 22:09Speaker 1: We heard the takeover after that. And one of the
- 22:12Speaker 1: things that makes me believe, because I know I've probably
- 22:15Speaker 1: been saying it for the past three years, like Yo
- 22:17Speaker 1: jay Z dropping the album, what made me believe that
- 22:22Speaker 1: it's more possible than ever is what he's currently doing
- 22:29Speaker 1: as far as the rollout right leading up to Roots
- 22:33Speaker 1: Picnic and eventually his show at Yankee Stadium commemorating Reasonable
- 22:39Speaker 1: Doll in the Blueprint definitely landmark albums in his catalog,
- 22:45Speaker 1: probably along with Hard Knock Life that he when he
- 22:51Speaker 1: said that, you know that forty days, forty nights bars
- 22:55Speaker 1: about my neck flooded again, my wrists flooded again, and
- 23:01Speaker 1: then everybody ran to the date forty days later, which
- 23:05Speaker 1: would be like July tenth, which I think is also
- 23:08Speaker 1: a Friday, and it's something else that's tied to that day,
- 23:14Speaker 1: which would be after I believe, either after or during
- 23:18Speaker 1: I can't remember. The Yankee Stadium performance. Why would Jay
- 23:27Speaker 1: do all of this in these bars for a guy
- 23:30Speaker 1: who never wastes bars at a at a show, it's
- 23:38Speaker 1: always a song. He hasn't had an album in a minute,
- 23:44Speaker 1: and now it's the thirtieth anniversary of his debut album
- 23:48Speaker 1: and he's been rolling out all these singles that didn't
- 23:50Speaker 1: appear on streaming as if he's kind of building up streaming.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Now.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I don't think it's working as far as and this
- 24:01Speaker 1: is the numbers thing. I don't think it's working as
- 24:03Speaker 1: far as really building excitement around jay Z and nostalgia
- 24:08Speaker 1: to the point where people are going back and listening. Right,
- 24:11Speaker 1: I think the show, once he does the concert, I
- 24:13Speaker 1: think that'll do that. But I think it kind of
- 24:15Speaker 1: got something started, right because most people, you know, like myself,
- 24:19Speaker 1: I have all these singles that it keeps dropping on
- 24:23Speaker 1: social media, so it doesn't mean anything to me.
- 24:24Speaker 2: But I feel like.
- 24:27Speaker 1: He's getting all the nostalgia out the way he does
- 24:31Speaker 1: the roots picnic, so you could see the rock again together, right,
- 24:35Speaker 1: he's addressing he dressed all these people in this little freestyle.
- 24:39Speaker 1: You know, the locks are combed out to an Afro right.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I don't know if that's just gonna be how he
- 24:46Speaker 1: looks for now. But you know easy E will be
- 24:50Speaker 1: preving it would it would kind of be a disappointment
- 24:55Speaker 1: for this just to be a nostalgic tour and I
- 25:01Speaker 1: won't And that's not disappointing. Let me just say that, right,
- 25:04Speaker 1: That in itself is not disappointing. But if you can
- 25:08Speaker 1: still rap like that, you mean to tell me this's
- 25:12Speaker 1: not an EP or album that maybe you took some
- 25:17Speaker 1: time and you worked on it over the years and
- 25:20Speaker 1: you're just going to drop because Jay looking at what
- 25:24Speaker 1: Nas is doing, what the Clips did, what Kendrick did,
- 25:29Speaker 1: and you saw him at the Grammy, He's like, all
- 25:31Speaker 1: of this was exciting.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Now. This is also the.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Same dude who said he don't know if battle rap
- 25:37Speaker 1: is good for hip hop, but I think he meant
- 25:41Speaker 1: good for business, because that's more of a true statement
- 25:44Speaker 1: than it being bad for hip hop.
- 25:47Speaker 2: But Harry is battling.
- 25:50Speaker 1: And he should know what he said about Nicki Minaj
- 25:55Speaker 1: and what he said about Drake and what he said
- 25:57Speaker 1: about Kanye. The Kanye bar was battle rap, don Juan DeMarco,
- 26:03Speaker 1: he missed an opportunity, Yeah, right, because when you watch
- 26:06Speaker 1: battle rap, smack that that's jay Z don Juan DeMarco.
- 26:10Speaker 1: He could have just said or had quest played le
- 26:13Speaker 1: Yo play that, don Juan DeMarco.
- 26:17Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. What's Smack gonna say? Ah?
- 26:19Speaker 2: You copyrighting? Friends? Man, you're using my voice? Sidebar? Okay, But.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I really, I really feel like people around July tenth,
- 26:30Speaker 1: people are really gonna.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Lock in to say please.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I hope when he said that in a freestyle that
- 26:38Speaker 1: forty days, forty nights, my neck be flooded again, risky flooded.
- 26:44Speaker 1: We hope that bar was a tease for an album
- 26:47Speaker 1: that's going to drop on that date. And I think
- 26:54Speaker 1: if that's the teas for an eventual album and he
- 27:00Speaker 1: hasn't released in a minute, and there's a chance he
- 27:02Speaker 1: could have been recording throughout the years, I am ready,
- 27:08Speaker 1: I'm ready.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Why not.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Na's been just dropping music and it's hot. And Na's
- 27:19Speaker 1: got damn near ten albums in the last like since
- 27:23Speaker 1: like twenty twenty, right, six years he got damn near
- 27:27Speaker 1: ten albums.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Right, maybe not that much, but very close.
- 27:31Speaker 1: L El then returned, And even though you know, a
- 27:35Speaker 1: cute tip with the beats, it's still a lot I
- 27:37Speaker 1: liked and there was nothing wrong with l L on
- 27:39Speaker 1: that joint.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Pete and c l Auditorium.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Old heads are outside for real, So we'll see hopefully
- 27:51Speaker 1: it happens. I wouldn't mind if he said, Yo, this
- 27:56Speaker 1: is my last album, but he really gets in his and.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Gives you not jay Z Today only but reasonable dut J.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Like he just gives you.
- 28:09Speaker 1: All of the same songs, but just not same songs,
- 28:14Speaker 1: but the same vibes in new records. You know what
- 28:17Speaker 1: I'm saying that he makes hardcore hip hop instead of
- 28:24Speaker 1: above board type hip hop, which is is what four
- 28:27Speaker 1: forty what was it? Four forty four was? So I
- 28:33Speaker 1: don't know. You tell me, do you think Jay's dropping
- 28:36Speaker 1: an album now that he done stepped outside and tease
- 28:39Speaker 1: a little diss record and like I said before, he
- 28:41Speaker 1: don't waste freestyles as shows, they are songs. Let me
- 28:46Speaker 1: know in the comments section below. You can follow me
- 28:48Speaker 1: on social media at Vegas where I in c check
