- 0:01Boom. Hello and welcome to another
- 0:04episode of Christian Reeve experience.
- 0:07I was going to say experience, okay, where does that come from?
- 0:14I wonder probably my love of Jimi Hendrix.
- 0:18No, welcome back to the Christian.
- 0:20We've podcast another episode annoying, not just any episode,
- 0:24actually, this is the 25th episode, 25, of course, and You
- 0:31know, it's funny because I'll get on to why coz as here for
- 0:35the second time, obviously, as you guys know, I always like to
- 0:39have guests on the podcast again, if anything, it works
- 0:42better because of the first time we have our podcast.
- 0:45It's very almost like formulaic because it's an interview and
- 0:48you want to try and get across who the person is first and
- 0:50foremost. But I mean to be in fairness
- 0:54though, our first podcast did kind of go into the weeds and we
- 0:57got through quite a few topics. Yes.
- 1:00More than 24 hours. But yeah like it's something
- 1:05that I really really like to do and I wanted to kind of try and
- 1:10do something special for the 25th episode or have like a
- 1:14special guest or something. I don't know.
- 1:16And we you got one. No this is this is what I'm
- 1:19thinking actually it's kind of is a good thing that it's you
- 1:23for various reasons. I mean first, the first of all,
- 1:26I had a guest today that I was supposed to have on the podcast
- 1:29and Unfortunately, for whatever reason, they're not able to do
- 1:34it, they haven't spoken to me yet.
- 1:35We're not going to be unprofessional and be like, oh,
- 1:38screw this person something, because, ya know, obviously,
- 1:41right? And, and people always have
- 1:43reasons for why things happen. It's just just how it is its
- 1:46life. And, but it's funny because I
- 1:50contacted you and you and I said, hey do you want to be on
- 1:53it? This is going to be a special
- 1:54episode. You said yes, and you're doing
- 1:59me a solid. As a friend, so there's that
- 2:01stinky. But also like when I sat down
- 2:04and I thought about that for a second while I was sorting
- 2:06everything out. I was like, and yeah, this is
- 2:08the same guy who, you know, made this big donation to me which
- 2:13I'm never going to stop talking about.
- 2:15I'm going to be singing your Praises till the end of time
- 2:19because the thing is like it to me it's more about the money and
- 2:22the investment in what I do. It's like someone saying, hey, I
- 2:27believe in what you're doing, keep doing it here.
- 2:29He's my kind of support for that sends that to me means the world
- 2:34because I don't hear that often with this podcast.
- 2:39Yeah I get a few comments here and there but ultimately I'm
- 2:42just kind of Relying on some sort of belief in myself but you
- 2:48know, it's getting better and better.
- 2:49We even had our first hate comment the other day.
- 2:51So I saw that I saw that was good, you know, I find it funny
- 2:59as well because I sat there and I tried to think, okay, because
- 3:02this is, this is my rule. If someone is rude, if someone
- 3:05is is just an asshole, then I won't reply, right.
- 3:09But if they make genuine constructive criticism, I'll
- 3:11take it on board and I'll probably thank them and K a nice
- 3:14one but this person was dropping the F-bomb and just being you
- 3:18know, jerk but I still took into what consideration what they
- 3:22said because they basically said and I'm putting this in the nice
- 3:25friendly way. Yeah.
- 3:26His. Yeah.
- 3:28You know how about letting this person talk?
- 3:31You know, this will be the last time I listened and I thought
- 3:34about that. I was like, well, that's a
- 3:35shame. I mean on one hand, I don't care
- 3:38that. I'm using that person if how
- 3:40they are. But also, yeah, I don't want to
- 3:42lose people. All because of an inability to
- 3:46allow people to talk because that would make me a bad
- 3:48interviewer about hosts. Yeah.
- 3:50Funny funnily enough my fans taught us told me the same after
- 3:55our pot one of my fans oh, oh yeah.
- 4:15Because one of one of my friends said the exact same to me after
- 4:19our podcast, he said, why are you never letting Christian
- 4:22talk? You're always interrupting him.
- 4:25Why? And I was just like, I don't
- 4:29know, I didn't take changing that.
- 4:31I always interrupted him, but it's kind of always It's also
- 4:37kind of the way I talk. I don't know, I, I have, I like
- 4:41conversations where you can just fall into each other's words,
- 4:45when you have something constructive, to say to their
- 4:48sentence, that they're saying right there, and then I don't
- 4:51have a problem with people interrupting me, for example,
- 4:54most of the time yet, for me, I only tend to interrupt if
- 4:59there's a particular thing that I'm trying to push with them to
- 5:02get out of them but not in a kind of like, like I don't care
- 5:05what they have to say. Let's say that we're talking
- 5:07about a big topic like I don't know what was something bit.
- 5:12Okay. Let's say we're talking about
- 5:13coronavirus. Just for argument's sake.
- 5:14Yeah. And then you start talking about
- 5:17something related to that but I see an opportunity to ask you
- 5:21about something. That's like I think is more
- 5:23important. I might what I might sort of do
- 5:26is interrupt your very briefly apologize and say, hey what
- 5:30about this? And then nine times out of ten.
- 5:32I probably Circle back to the thing that you were saying
- 5:34anyway, or a lot of time. I'm if the guests really badly
- 5:38wants to say that, then they'll bring it up again.
- 5:40And I just won't say anything. The second time, I'll let them
- 5:43speak. So, this is kind of what I find,
- 5:46interesting, especially with that podcast with, it was good
- 5:48at the Murray, was her name. She spoke a lot.
- 5:53I spoke a lot. I just find it interesting.
- 5:57I was really trying to sit there and be like, it does.
- 5:59This person have a point? Do I speak too much?
- 6:02Do I not like my guest speaker? I'm thinking, like, really like
- 6:05trying to think like, mmm. Of course, this gets to you
- 6:08obviously minaya. I mean it doesn't like I don't
- 6:12take it personally, I couldn't I couldn't care less.
- 6:14I've had much worse said to me, but like, purely from being
- 6:18professional. Because you know, like I said
- 6:20that first episode, I want it to be a really good, you know?
- 6:27I'm gonna put this introduction to the person.
- 6:31I'm trying to go over. I want it to be purely about
- 6:33them. Yes.
- 6:34In this, in the second and follow-up episodes.
- 6:37It doesn't matter so much because you already know who the
- 6:39person is, you know, if someone would be like, who I don't want
- 6:42to hear you talk Christian. It's like well you know if you
- 6:45really want to hear all about the person and not hear me speak
- 6:48very much then go watch the first episode, right?
- 6:53Yeah. But then in follow-up episodes.
- 6:54It's like like you said, it's is a It's back.
- 6:58Yes, you know and in the end it's your podcast as well.
- 7:01So I mean when someone says oh Christian I don't want to hear
- 7:04you then you can just say hey good.
- 7:06Okay. Go to another podcast.
- 7:08I don't care if you don't like me then this is not the podcast
- 7:11for you. I guess.
- 7:12It's as a someone payments, My Stream and said, dude you look
- 7:16ugly. I don't want to look at you.
- 7:18Yes. Why are you here then?
- 7:21What is your point is? He's like I can point there,
- 7:25isn't it? I get comments like that
- 7:27sometimes too. And I'm just like, yeah, just
- 7:29don't, don't watch then, I don't know what to say to you.
- 7:33Yes, there's so much on the internet, so much content, just
- 7:36just go somewhere else and you can search for better content
- 7:39because I believe in that I believe in every person should
- 7:42always go to the best content that suits them and not just any
- 7:46content that maybe the algorithms throws, I've liked
- 7:48them or they just find or anything.
- 7:51You should always just look for Content that you love and then
- 7:55stay there obviously. It's interesting.
- 7:57You say that as well, because I was speaking to my friend today.
- 8:00Shout out to birdie about this and I think she took, she kind
- 8:05of assumed that I took it to heart and I'm like, no, I'm just
- 8:07genuinely, like I thought this was funny.
- 8:09Like I thought you might find it interesting kind of thing
- 8:12because I get a lot of shit from various places, when I try to do
- 8:16something a bit left field so I can as an example.
- 8:19And my glass guess my previous guests before this one was a
- 8:23professional wrestler, right? And Sadly, I stopped plugging
- 8:30myself on Reddit because one pretty much everyone that would
- 8:35come and check me out would do the same annoying thing of like
- 8:37subscribing to me and then being like, hey can you sub that?
- 8:41So basically sub4sub and then I will, yeah, I wouldn't do
- 8:44anything because I'm there to purely promote myself in the in
- 8:48the subreddits, you know, just just yeah and it's kind of a
- 8:53silly idea purely from the from the logic of You know, everyone
- 8:58is kind of going there for the same reason.
- 9:00No one is really there to watch each other's content.
- 9:03Therefore it's you know pointless.
- 9:05Yeah, exactly. If what can you do with the
- 9:07subs? If they don't watch you it's
- 9:09exactly why I think buying Subs are stuff.
- 9:11Like that is the bad worst idea you can have company because
- 9:15it's in the end you have a high number.
- 9:17Yeah, cool. Okay great.
- 9:19You can you can jerk your ego with that?
- 9:21I don't, I don't know, but in the end it doesn't do anything
- 9:24for you because those are I don't know.
- 9:26Bots or whatever. It's not genuine.
- 9:29And I won't watch your content because they're probably.
- 9:32Yeah, they probably only wanted your sub.
- 9:34So it's true as well especially if you do really well on YouTube
- 9:38in the future or twitch or ever, you know, you won't be genuine.
- 9:42It's like the equivalent of like buying grades in a test paper.
- 9:46It's like, sure. You got what you needed, but you
- 9:48didn't do it, you know? Yes, with any.
- 9:52I don't say onyx. That's not quite the right word.
- 9:54But like you know what? The honor but yeah.
- 9:58Anyway yes with the subreddit so I basically I went into like
- 10:03wrestling only subreddits and I posted about this guy and then I
- 10:07was reminded why? For instance I don't do content
- 10:10on wrestling because it's a really toxic community band
- 10:15base. Yeah.
- 10:16And it's stupid because it's essentially people just arguing
- 10:20over opinions like which I guess you can say is the same for
- 10:26most. Most fan base, has to be honest
- 10:28these days but I don't know what it is because I've been a fan
- 10:30since I was a kid and I've only noticed this kind of toxicity in
- 10:34the last, like, 10 years or so, but it does seem to be prevalent
- 10:37everywhere. It's like if you share any kind
- 10:39of an opinion, people just shit all over you.
- 10:42And it's like it's just an opinion.
- 10:45Exactly. And and and many many people
- 10:48these Don't understand that opinion that some opinions can
- 10:53just live next to each other. There are opinions that maybe
- 10:57contradict each other but you can lift totally fine.
- 10:59If, if half of the population has the one opinion and the
- 11:02other half has the other opinion.
- 11:04And in the end, I don't know what people.
- 11:06Why people don't understand democracy, but it's if more than
- 11:11half of the population, says something.
- 11:14Then yeah, we should probably go with that because that's the
- 11:16best that we have these there today.
- 11:18I watched a wonderful video today.
- 11:21Out the end of Metal Gear Solid 2 which is an old game 2002, I
- 11:26think 2001 and they're the AI that gave Raiden the commands
- 11:34and everything told him that they want to censor everything
- 11:37and they want to censor everything because human
- 11:39evolution is held back by fake news.
- 11:42And that's why there should be an AI that has no feelings, that
- 11:46monitors, everything that gets into the internet and into the
- 11:50into the Population from from like a perspective, that's good
- 11:55or bad and obviously that's that's like there's very good
- 11:58deus. Ex machina know it how is the
- 12:01house to do X machine? I don't you mean yeah yeah
- 12:04there's there's like another game and that game as well has
- 12:10the same thing. We're also an AI is there and it
- 12:13wants to censor censor bad things that don't bring the
- 12:16humanity forward but I don't know.
- 12:18In the end, everybody should have the opportunity.
- 12:21Say whatever they want. I got to say, I do kind of agree
- 12:24with you because I hear a lot of people the pushback I get.
- 12:26When I say that is that people like, oh well, you shouldn't be
- 12:29allowed to say whatever the hell you want and it's like, well,
- 12:31okay, those are there is a big difference between like saying
- 12:35what you want to say versus doing what you want to do, you
- 12:40know what I mean? It's like, like just saying
- 12:43something, it's not nice, but it's not going to like actually
- 12:46hurt you. Like yes, physically.
- 12:48Yeah, yeah. Right at all.
- 12:50Stop you. I mean people can make the
- 12:52argument oh yeah. Well you know it's very damaging
- 12:54words are very damaging true but what actions are ahead of a lot
- 12:58more damaging, you know you like and I feel like it's a slippery
- 13:02slope with this whole censorship thing because it is it's like
- 13:08when you start saying people can and cannot say certain things
- 13:13that line between what's acceptable and what's not
- 13:16acceptable. Couldn't can be taken to the
- 13:20extreme and the government. Has a very messed up way of
- 13:26handling this stuff and it that I feel like the only damage that
- 13:30the problems you cannot see the problems when you're in the
- 13:34thick of it. So like people right now are
- 13:36thinking this is good for society, right?
- 13:39And I get what they, what they're trying to achieve, but
- 13:42what they don't realize is that what they're saying?
- 13:46Now is allowing the government to kind of you know, put forward
- 13:50something far more extreme that they wouldn't Exactly.
- 13:55Because it's because these people, these people always are
- 13:58just on the same side as long as it's not them, who get her
- 14:01getting damaged. Of course, the whole left side
- 14:04of the political Spectrum right now says, oh yeah, we should
- 14:07definitely ban everything that is kind of racist or kind of
- 14:10right-wing or whatever. But then, if in 50 years, the
- 14:14whole landscape shifts and then all of a sudden, the left is,
- 14:17the is the ours, then all of a sudden.
- 14:20They're like, oh no, censorship no, no way.
- 14:23We shouldn't do that, right? It's always just the /, the
- 14:27people that obviously get a benefit from, it are always on
- 14:31the side of the censorship. But then again, if you allow
- 14:34censorship, once you should allow censorship and any point,
- 14:38and, but if you get hit by it, then then obviously you cannot,
- 14:42you cannot like, say that it's bad.
- 14:46That doesn't work, you don't get your cake and had wait, you
- 14:49don't get your cake and have to eat it too, or however that
- 14:53goes. Coming back exactly how you say
- 14:56the same. But yeah, I know what you mean.
- 14:57I mean, I always think of that the more literal sense of like,
- 15:00you know, like sometimes you go to certain places, like tout.
- 15:04Like I remember that when this place that I was growing up,
- 15:07there will always be like, a particular spot where you'd have
- 15:09like a crazy preacher Who You'd walk past and they'd always be
- 15:12shouting. Something like like, okay, like
- 15:15let's say I'm with my mom and I'm like, 5 years old.
- 15:18And the guys like you're going to hell, you hear that, you both
- 15:22do your home. And you talk devil chart and
- 15:25it's like what right? What do you want from me?
- 15:28Right, and it's ridiculous and everyone's like, oh he shouldn't
- 15:31be allowed to be there, but the thing is him does shouting that
- 15:35it's not nice. But again, like we were saying
- 15:38before, he doesn't have some lasting detrimental effect.
- 15:41If anything, most people just laugh at them or like filming
- 15:45and stuff and that's kind of how I feel about the internet to.
- 15:48It's like people say, horrible shit all the time and plus the
- 15:51internet is like this thing where A lot of the stuff people
- 15:55say they would never have the balls to say in real life.
- 15:58Ever of course. Yes.
- 16:00And I just feel like it's percent.
- 16:03Its anonymity, right? Yeah.
- 16:05And I just I don't know. I kind of feel like I don't
- 16:13know, I'm kind of losing my but I think it's just all Bs, I
- 16:17don't know. I try not to get too consumed in
- 16:19it. I try and adjust because there
- 16:21is a big difference as well between what you see online and
- 16:24then just everyday life. Like, for example, how often do
- 16:28you really meet like a racist, for example, in real life?
- 16:33No, not very often. Do you know what I mean?
- 16:35It's like, maybe, maybe, maybe you don't notice how often you
- 16:39meet them because race is can't obviously say These days, right?
- 16:43But you don't go to a person say, oh, I hate foreigners by
- 16:47the way. Hello, you know, you can't do
- 16:49that, but anybody, but if you go to someone and say, oh, I hate
- 16:53racists, that were like, I hate, I don't know.
- 16:56I love communism. Then obviously.
- 16:57It's like, oh yeah. Well I guess that's okay.
- 17:01Like, you could take out your morale check marks and you're
- 17:04like, Ugh, communism. Okay and yeah.
- 17:07On the right. Yeah, that that works.
- 17:09I like you. The interesting thing I've
- 17:11noticed that Actually, on this point about people like races.
- 17:14So people that, you know, as you say a kind of like trying to
- 17:17hide their actual beliefs, I've noticed so many occasions where
- 17:21you get someone who's coming into.
- 17:23Like, let's say it's like a all lad situational blokes maybe on
- 17:27a building site, or something like that.
- 17:30And you got someone who comes in and cut their like, testing the
- 17:33waters, they're like, okay yes. So they'll throw something out
- 17:37there and it will always be negative it below.
- 17:40Yeah, these Buddy, you know, insert your comment here kind of
- 17:44thing and then they're kind of just trying to see what
- 17:46everyone's reactions are. And if everyone is just like, oh
- 17:50yeah, yeah. Then they're like our great.
- 17:52Yes. He's like my yeah.
- 17:54This is, this is my chance to just go nuts but then if
- 17:57everyone's just like oh no, that's terrible.
- 18:00Then that person just shut up and just be quiet.
- 18:03Exactly. Yes, seen this so many times.
- 18:07It's so funny as well. I just, I just talked to someone
- 18:10on the phone today. Because I'm on the search for a
- 18:13new apartment right now. Cool.
- 18:15Yeah. Because I want to, I want to
- 18:16move again and I think I found one but mock space, right?
- 18:21I need more space. Yes.
- 18:23Extremely little bit, but the best thing about the apartment
- 18:26that I found right now is it's cheaper than what I have right
- 18:28now and it's bigger. So Rainer, no-brainer did like,
- 18:33Father out of city or something. Like what?
- 18:35No, it's literally like two streets.
- 18:38Two streets away. Oh, damn.
- 18:41Well, what It works very well, exactly.
- 18:43But I talked to you to some guys who rent out Apartments today
- 18:49like like a woman and I was like, oh yeah, do you have glass
- 18:52fiber there? And she's like, nah.
- 18:54I don't know, but but if the Turkish people start working it,
- 18:57and it's probably gonna be ready until like three days and I was
- 19:00like, what did teach what you just said, but but it's like, I
- 19:05live in Hamburg, right? So, I don't know, it's like
- 19:09rights on the east of us is like, We're East Germany starts
- 19:13and like the notion is that East Germans are more racist than
- 19:17West Germans and that was where I was supposed to phoning and I
- 19:22was just like, what is this? She's just she's just demeaning
- 19:26Turkish people right now, what the fuck?
- 19:28Because I don't necessarily I don't, I don't normally have
- 19:30something like that, right? I don't just talk to people and
- 19:34they talk about other races and demeaning ways especially not a
- 19:37Germany because I mean yeah you can obviously do that.
- 19:41But Them that was that was a shocker for me after.
- 19:45I was like just talking to her and after I stop the stop, the
- 19:52talk. I was like, what did she just
- 19:54say it? Watch it.
- 19:55Jesus saying I was like 10 minutes of huh?
- 20:00I had this with that landlord one time where we were just
- 20:03chatting and then they just said like about certain types of
- 20:07people they wouldn't have as tenants and they mentioned like
- 20:10certain race. Isis.
- 20:11And I was just standing there like uncomfortable, like not
- 20:15knowing what to say, because I'm not going to agree with this
- 20:16person. But exact same time, I'm just
- 20:19like and I was like her, so you've had some trouble huh?
- 20:24And she's like, yeah. And I was just like, that's what
- 20:27it boils down most of the time, right?
- 20:30Where is yes. Like a sweeping generalization?
- 20:31It's like, oh, I don't like everyone from this particular
- 20:35place because this one time. Someone screwed me and now I
- 20:39just hate them all. Yes.
- 20:41Yes, the only thing that that makes it kind of why I kind of
- 20:46understand that guy is because he has to have a business,
- 20:49right? And if you had a very bad
- 20:52experience with one person at once you try to categorize them
- 20:55into a category so you don't have that big bed experience
- 20:59again. So I understand that on a
- 21:00business point but necessarily as a human, it's like kind of a
- 21:04scummy thing, I had the same thing with, with a restaurant
- 21:07owner for that. I worked, she was just like, oh,
- 21:11yeah, no. I don't serve Arabs.
- 21:12If Arabs come in here, I put, I get them out of here.
- 21:17They don't serve address. Yeah.
- 21:19And I was like, I was 14 or 15 at the time and I was like, okay
- 21:25let me, let me just get this. Get this straight right now.
- 21:29No Arabs. OK.
- 21:31I guess what's the worst job you've ever had the worst job?
- 21:36I had a lot of jobs but the worst job it was probably at
- 21:39that restaurant. I was just cleaning English has.
- 21:42So if I ever been, if I will ever be a millionaire, it will
- 21:45be dishwasher to millionaire. Isn't that great?
- 21:49That's that's great. But no, that was probably the
- 21:51worst job. I had a few jobs, I was store
- 21:55clerk but that wasn't too bad. I was certainly twice.
- 21:58I had delivery jobs twice once for a pot to carry and ones for
- 22:04a pizza place and now I'm a technician and obviously, that's
- 22:09that's kind of chill. So yeah, I I probably have that
- 22:12restaurant especially because the woman for that I've worked
- 22:16was, I don't know psychotic or something.
- 22:19She was, she was the worst. She was just sometimes she
- 22:22exploded just out of nowhere. It was so weird.
- 22:26She fired me because I put these things that you put under beers
- 22:30right? These I think I put that under
- 22:34wine and then she was like, oh she don't do that.
- 22:37Oh why do I do that? You're fired and I was like, oh
- 22:40damn. Really?
- 22:41Okay, dude on the spot to see ya on the spot just fired that was
- 22:45it. Wow it's so weird if I think
- 22:48back about it but yeah she before she had that I did
- 22:54research on her and before she had that restaurant she was the
- 22:58owner and owner of a house. You call it brothel?
- 23:04Yes, that's it. So yeah, that was that was
- 23:08something but that was the first job I ever had as well.
- 23:12Well, one day or like I said before that, I did one day of of
- 23:19delivering newspapers, but it was raining like cats and dogs
- 23:25on that day and I never did that again.
- 23:28Okay. I gotta I gotta push you for
- 23:30more on this so what may, At the worst job ever.
- 23:33It's like eyesight because I think as I've worked in, I've
- 23:37never had like one single bad job but I've had various things
- 23:42about different jobs, that sucked.
- 23:44Yeah, but then I've also wash dishes as well.
- 23:48I've been there, it's monotonous.
- 23:50Mind-numbing. Soul-destroying work.
- 23:55But yeah. Like tell us some stories.
- 23:57Tell us why it was so white so bad.
- 23:59I mean there's days always certain The things about.
- 24:02So, yeah, customer service style jobs that make them bad.
- 24:06I mean, I mean, it's basically the, the monotony, the monotony
- 24:10that you're already talked about because, you know how I am,
- 24:14right? I need I need like some space
- 24:16man. I need to be creative and stuff
- 24:19and then just washing dishes and with this like with this machine
- 24:23that big thing where you just put down that and then watches,
- 24:26but, and basically the other half was her, it was her.
- 24:30She was, she was just a wish. Stood so crazy.
- 24:34It was so crazy, but I, but I only did it for the, I guess for
- 24:38the money, I got like, 50 bill every evening and then I went
- 24:42off and bought some weed. I love that.
- 24:46Whenever whenever I say that to people about like, oh what what?
- 24:49Yeah, why did you do that job? And then I'm like, yeah, for the
- 24:52money and I just think about the money was peanuts.
- 24:54It was less. It was what for the money.
- 24:57Why the fuck did I do that? But it's true.
- 24:59It's like you got not many options when before you're
- 25:01qualified. I'd yes.
- 25:03And sometimes even when you're qualified, I mean, I've said
- 25:05this, a million bazillion times but like, you know, I got a
- 25:08degree in three years experience, in my field and the
- 25:11most I can find right now as freelance work on and on.
- 25:16Yeah, I know, I could like hop quite happily into a customer
- 25:19service job right now, but I just don't have it in me to go
- 25:24back to that. I did it for so long and it was
- 25:28just it's all you always. I got to ask you the question.
- 25:34How much your time is worth for you?
- 25:35Yes right. Would I pay someone else?
- 25:38The exact same amount of money for that work?
- 25:41If you if you would then? Yeah.
- 25:43It's a good job. I guess or wait.
- 25:45Yes, yes. You you always it's like how
- 25:49much worth, how much is your time worth to you?
- 25:51And how much is the work worth to you?
- 25:53And you always gotta do, you always gotta check that?
- 25:56This is one thing. That always amazes me when I
- 25:58worked in customer service was that like, you would meet People
- 26:02who were trained in that environment and would want to do
- 26:08those jobs right now. Don't get me wrong, I'm not
- 26:13trying to share on it. I can see certain appeals of
- 26:15certain things, you know, like putting on major event.
- 26:18Like if you're like a hotel manager or a chain manager or
- 26:23something like and you've worked your way up.
- 26:24I can see the appeal of that, right?
- 26:26I get that. Yeah but what I we couldn't get
- 26:30is the people that are working Say three to five years, solidly
- 26:35as like a waiter and they're struggling to become, you know,
- 26:40like a manager or something and they love it.
- 26:44And I'm and the thing is, I'm doing the exact same job as them
- 26:46and okay. Yeah, I don't love the job,
- 26:48right? So, fair enough, we're going to
- 26:50see it differently but they're doing still doing a lot of stuff
- 26:53that sucks. Like for instance, you know,
- 26:57having people talk to them, like they're nothing, you know?
- 27:00Because if you work in customer service, This people do talk to
- 27:03you like, utter shit. Yeah, yeah.
- 27:06And it's like, so they put up with the same things that I do
- 27:11and the long hours that, you know, turn into ridiculous,
- 27:14because there's so much that, you know, isn't in contracts
- 27:18that isn't spoken about, it's like, yeah, it says that you're
- 27:20supposed to work, say, 10 hours a day, but in actuality, you're
- 27:24going to be working with 15 to 17 hours a day out of this kind
- 27:28of peer pressure thing of like, yeah, you couldn't, you can work
- 27:31a job. Purely by the contracts and what
- 27:33it says in the contract that you'll get fired.
- 27:35Pretty quick. Yeah.
- 27:36Yeah. And it won't, it won't be like a
- 27:39they'll do it legally, but they do it in a way where they can
- 27:42get rid of you and just make up some nonsense about why you're
- 27:46fired. But basically, it's because
- 27:47you're not willing to just work yourself to death, so you have
- 27:53to love that job and I just, I just can't wrap my brains around
- 27:58why they love that. I mean the only thing I can
- 28:01think of Is that there just so hell-bent on getting to that top
- 28:05level that they can put up with the day-to-day stuff but I meant
- 28:10I met genuine people that were like 20 years older than me.
- 28:14Who absolutely loved serving people.
- 28:18Yeah I just didn't get it. Like I get I get the
- 28:22satisfaction of like serving a bunch of people and making them
- 28:26happy like that happened to me loads of times and it's great.
- 28:29I love that but that to me was not Enough to like Warren all of
- 28:35the shit that I had to put up. Yeah, I don't know you.
- 28:40I think I think you learned to get to get on with it, right?
- 28:44You just learn to phase that out.
- 28:46If someone it's like this is Zen kind of, kind of state.
- 28:51I talked about that with my friends.
- 28:53If someone gives us shit, we were just like, oh my God.
- 28:56That guy is so sad. What is going on with him?
- 29:00Because if someone gives you shit, it's Obviously not because
- 29:02they hate you. But because there's something
- 29:05wrong in their lives. It dude, you say that, right?
- 29:12But I could think of so many times And again, I'm not I have
- 29:21nothing against customer service.
- 29:22I'm not looking down my nose at it was something I worked in it
- 29:25for many years. So believe me.
- 29:27I can talk about this freely, to be honest.
- 29:32All right, I dealt with a little bit of like, people will be the
- 29:38word when you're like, looking down your nose at people that
- 29:41people beneath you. I don't know that kind of
- 29:43attitude. Yeah.
- 29:45Yeah. Like snobby.
- 29:47Okay, so I dealt with that snobbish, kind of attitude from
- 29:50a young age in my first, proper job.
- 29:52From, at the age of 18, I worked in a supermarket for three
- 29:55years, belt, and snails, right same, but then through the
- 30:00years, I had various different jobs, different places.
- 30:04And when I was at University, I worked for about close to two
- 30:09years in this hotel, as a waiter and bartender and everything
- 30:15else in between. And for me, that environment was
- 30:19the worst environment I ever worked in as far as customers
- 30:23accident. Because only that right?
- 30:27Because what I always hurt here from from hotel employees is
- 30:31that, it's like the worst job ever.
- 30:33You have to work so much and you get so much shit and you're
- 30:37never good, right? Because because you're always
- 30:39not doing everything 100% ride or something.
- 30:42I mean, that is probably one of the hardest jobs.
- 30:44I can I can imagine You're not in Alaska crab fishing.
- 30:49Sure. Yeah, there's always something
- 30:51worse. But boys, be honest with you.
- 30:53I could put up with like managers never being happy
- 30:56enough and because there was a lot of camaraderie camaraderie
- 30:59between people and like there was a lot of things that would
- 31:02just help you get through and there was things to be enjoyed.
- 31:06I mean, for instance, I loved being a bartender that was great
- 31:12and like, put, you know, putting on major events making everyone
- 31:14happy. I mean fucking I did like Beings
- 31:17and yeah parties New Year's Christmas you name it.
- 31:21I did it. I think that being bobbing about
- 31:24tenor as a really good job, it's actually fun.
- 31:27Yeah. And and weirdly people respect
- 31:29you because we're exactly people treat waiters like shit.
- 31:32But if you're a bartender somehow you you're like up in
- 31:35the totem pole and you have some sort of respect from from from
- 31:39them. For some I guess it's because of
- 31:41the knowledge of alcohol somehow gives you some Prestige but
- 31:45anyway Think you're a psychologist as well.
- 31:49Yeah, I guess. But I mean, a lot of the time
- 31:52you don't have the fucking time to.
- 31:55I mean, what I know, I guess if you're purely a bartender.
- 31:58Yes. And it's a bar like a bar is
- 32:01because the thing is, like, I worked in bars that were like,
- 32:05you know, part of, you know, part of a restaurant part of a
- 32:08lounge area, like, you have to do so much other stuff aside
- 32:11from just serving the bar. It's very rare that you actually
- 32:13just serving drinks and that's it.
- 32:16Like I'd be so many days. I can remember where there's
- 32:18like, Are people there and I've got to like serve coffee.
- 32:23Basically, I'd have to like make the coffee myself.
- 32:25Then serve the coffee. Make the drinks myself.
- 32:28Then serve the drinks. Sometimes, even make the food
- 32:31myself and then serve the phone guys.
- 32:32Yeah, that's a lot. It's ridiculous.
- 32:36But, you know, it happens and I got on with it and I made the
- 32:40most of it but like, I don't know, I just for me I could do
- 32:48all of that I could get through all of that.
- 32:50It was fine. But like whenever maybe it was
- 32:53just a self-esteem issue, but when I was at University, At
- 32:58least initially because the first part of the time my
- 33:01working there, I was, you know, do it was in my third year of
- 33:06University or middle of second year into third year and just
- 33:10doing this work, right? So just getting on with it and
- 33:14it's fine and like whenever I'd have a bad day I've been at
- 33:17always fine. And you know I've got Unis, fuck
- 33:20this job kind of thing, right? But then when I graduated, I was
- 33:26already by that point, I was already basically full-time.
- 33:28Like, I never signed a full-time contract but they treated me
- 33:31like a full-time member of staff.
- 33:33I was there longer than like, more than the full-time staff
- 33:36were. I was basically fought on and I
- 33:41was like shit man. Like, whenever the customers
- 33:45would like, you know, be shitty with me, or look down their
- 33:49noses at me or make comments. A lot of the time, I can let it
- 33:53go. But when I was in that
- 33:54particular position, I started thinking to myself, like, damn,
- 33:58I may be there right? Like, you know, because because
- 34:01they don't think you're intelligent people will
- 34:02automatically assume yes. Yeah.
- 34:04If you work in customer service, you're not intelligent because
- 34:06the yes. And the thing is, I challenge
- 34:09this to an extent because yes, it is a low skilled job but it's
- 34:15not easy. You know, I've, I've met people,
- 34:18I like super intelligent, like, you know, scientists Who cannot
- 34:22do that job like they just oh, no, definitely not.
- 34:26Is it had it had you have to have emotional intelligence,
- 34:30right? But like there's other things
- 34:33you need to be able to do as well.
- 34:34It's not just being able to, like control your nerves or
- 34:37whatever, but like, you know, being able to multitask being
- 34:41able to plan ahead. There's a lot of things you have
- 34:46to learn. I don't know why I was good at
- 34:49it. I think, I just worked really
- 34:51hard. Didn't.
- 34:53Somehow I was good at working in teams.
- 34:55I've always been good at working in teams.
- 34:56Okay, that's good. That's very good but like ya
- 35:01know it basically my point with this because I'm going into the
- 35:04weeds a bit, it would get to a point where it was just like the
- 35:09words would get to me from customers or the attitudes, or
- 35:12the way they would look at me or like because they think that you
- 35:16they cut they think that you can't hear And it's like, no,
- 35:19you we can hear everything you're saying and it just got to
- 35:23me. And I remember when I quit that
- 35:25job, I was so relieved. Quit like it was.
- 35:30I felt like a massive weight had been lifted over and don't get
- 35:33me wrong. The hotel I worked at is a good
- 35:36hotel you know nothing against the people I worked with or
- 35:41anything like that. It's just you know anyone that's
- 35:43worked there that's work with me.
- 35:45Knows what it's like even that is still working there or has
- 35:49The, you know, they know how tough it is and flank y'all can
- 35:53be and everything in between and I'm sure everyone can like who's
- 35:58ever worked in customer service can relate to this that you
- 36:00know, 100%. Yeah.
- 36:02People while they will talk to you like you're nothing and I
- 36:07don't know, it just kind of got to me and then when I started
- 36:11working in marketing eventually when I moved abroad, I started
- 36:14working in that field. It didn't feel like work like if
- 36:18Thing I laugh when I have to do like marketing work because I'm
- 36:21like, man there was a day when I was working like 16 hour days
- 36:25back-to-back and like never having any time for myself.
- 36:28And now, all I do is sit by a computer for eight hours a day,
- 36:32and just write some stuff for, like, look at some statistics
- 36:36and reports. Yeah.
- 36:38And that's it. And I get paid triple or double
- 36:42what someone in customer service will get paid, and I might, this
- 36:45is just nuts. Mhm, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:49It's weird like how I never understood how people decide on
- 36:53how much a certain job gets or not?
- 36:56Or how that crystallized. It's very weird because there's
- 37:00such hard jobs, that get paid nothing and then there's just
- 37:04jobs where you're basically having one idea month or
- 37:08something like that and you get paid so much, write some
- 37:12marketers. They they they do one campaign
- 37:14every month for like Adidas or something.
- 37:17And then you get Get 100K and then you're gone.
- 37:21Then you're then you don't do anything anymore for a year or
- 37:23something. I can't believe businesses, the
- 37:27on like, and I know it's business.
- 37:31So but before people destroy me in the comments or destroy this,
- 37:34when they hear this, wherever you're listening to the podcast,
- 37:38I know that it's because of business.
- 37:40But still, if you're a massive Empire chain, whatever it like
- 37:45your company, you know, is doing very well like very high profit
- 37:51margins but you're paying your staff minimum wage, right?
- 37:58I just feel like it's very Embarrassing.
- 38:02It's like let's take a big company like I don't know it's a
- 38:12good example. Not Google Google's not a good
- 38:15example for that. No I'm just I'm trying to think
- 38:17of like a customer's fuck. Yeah I was actually thinking of
- 38:20that but yeah you've brought up so yeah Jeff Bezos is a
- 38:24billionaire. He's the richest man alive.
- 38:27It's the richest man alive and his staff.
- 38:30His staff get treated like dogs. Like it's just a little shit.
- 38:34The base for not a robot. You're definitely less.
- 38:37And that's that's the that's the problem.
- 38:39It's like they get paid nothing, they get fired like that every
- 38:43second, you know, if you can't hack it gone.
- 38:45And I saw that I saw that attitude, in places that I've
- 38:49worked, you know, I remember when I worked in in in
- 38:53supermarkets even though Hotel had that a bit of that
- 38:57mentality, it was like, oh, if you can't hack, it will just
- 39:00find someone to replace you and yeah, it's kind of true that
- 39:03that does keep happening. It's like, you know, you work
- 39:05there for a while, you learn how it really is.
- 39:08And then there's a Crossroads either you going to put up with
- 39:10it and just get on with it or you're going to quit and someone
- 39:14else to take your position, heart life.
- 39:20It is Angus me and especially that they don't get paid enough.
- 39:23I mean it's like one of the reasons that you have to work so
- 39:28many hours is just to make ends meet and it's like you just end
- 39:33up not having a life like Like damn, like when I was at Uni in
- 39:40the third year there was a point where I was literally working
- 39:43like 50 or 60 hours a week plus going to University.
- 39:48So I would be like, I'd only have a couple of lessons a week,
- 39:52couple of seminars. I ended up having to not go to
- 39:55my lectures because I needed to work and it was so because the
- 40:01lectures just want useful, but the seminars were so there's a
- 40:03little tip, yes for people, because a lot of the time in
- 40:07lectures, they just cover what's in the textbooks.
- 40:09It's like what's the point of this?
- 40:11And I can't do it either. Like I sleep.
- 40:14I wish in 45 minutes or 90 minutes II.
- 40:17Can't do that, hmm. Sorry, we just keep having
- 40:21internet problems here in the yeah.
- 40:24Yeah, I mean like for me it got very tricky because I will
- 40:31basically never have any time where I was just resting it
- 40:35would be like I would do. I would wake up in the morning
- 40:39six or seven laps earlier, go work from like 7:00 in the
- 40:43morning, till 9:00 at night, 10:00 at night, and then I would
- 40:48go straight to the library. After that, and just off study
- 40:55for 45 hours and I was fucked. I don't know how I got through
- 40:58that and didn't die, right? Just mad, but you're not going
- 41:04to be like, for me and next week, either, whenever you move,
- 41:06you have like internet for no internet for three weeks,
- 41:10something like that, it's bad. Yeah, this this is incredibly
- 41:15frustrating. Actually, it's insane.
- 41:19I get so angry at it. Whenever I was streaming and I
- 41:23don't know, a little bit worse, internet connection that I have
- 41:26right now and my stream constantly just cut out.
- 41:30I would I would get so angry. It would ruin my, a see that the
- 41:36frustrating part about this is that Normally, I don't have to
- 41:42do pretty much any editing but now because this is fucking up.
- 41:45I'm gonna have to do loads of editing and its really annoying.
- 41:48Yeah, and the thing is, what people don't realize is when you
- 41:51do a podcast. I mean, when you're when you're
- 41:56actually just doing the editing of the the whole podcast, it's
- 42:01usually pretty straightforward. You just you know, because I've
- 42:05managed to root out the sound problems now.
- 42:07So there isn't any sound issues. It's all pretty.
- 42:10You know, straight forward as far as that's concerned.
- 42:14But if there are issues like what we're having now with
- 42:18internet cutting in and out, I'll have to clip this up.
- 42:21Edit it up, put it together. Yeah.
- 42:25And people would be like, oh well, that's just part of it,
- 42:27right? But the thing is, for instance,
- 42:28I'm doing Clips right now where I'm going back.
- 42:32Yeah, I saw that right. Listening to the entire episode
- 42:36cutting it up and it's like you have no idea how long this takes
- 42:40Because firstly, oh, I do, I do. I just started doing YouTube
- 42:46videos for weeks ago or five weeks ago again, one video a
- 42:51week. I can barely do that.
- 42:53I mean, it's crazy. I don't understand how people
- 42:56can upload a video a day like spaz.
- 42:59It's doing it since a I couldn't do that.
- 43:02I cut my videos for all week. What is that?
- 43:06This is the thing like I I've been I've done what spaz is
- 43:11doing but like it I think it's different.
- 43:14If you're clipping it in advance, like for instance,
- 43:16right now you'll see that I'm uploading that three or four
- 43:18times a day, right? And the only reason that that's
- 43:21happening is because I've spent ages on a particular day editing
- 43:27and clipping stuff and then scheduling ahead.
- 43:29So that's how I do that. They people.
- 43:31Yeah, but there are people like spouse who record on the day
- 43:34every day. And I've done that too, and
- 43:38that's a lot more thankless. Especially if you do editing and
- 43:41stuff and you know, like your, I don't know.
- 43:44Let's say it's like a reaction video or something like that.
- 43:48They take so much time and effort goes into it, and it's
- 43:52the same with this podcast. Like the whole time I'm sitting
- 43:54there thinking, like, I need staff, I need fucking a team of
- 43:58people kind of my language, but it's yeah, really it and the
- 44:03thing is, there's so many different things you have to
- 44:04think about like when I listen to Episodes and thinking like
- 44:08well what do people what would people would be interested in
- 44:11what's an interesting clip? You know I've got the time I'm
- 44:15going for like stories. I'm like okay.
- 44:16What's an interesting story that the person says or something?
- 44:21Interesting, they say because just here in someone go like our
- 44:24this is what I do on YouTube. This is what I do.
- 44:27Blah blah blah like that's not interesting if they tell
- 44:29something that's like kind of out there, I don't know.
- 44:33So for instance, today, I was going Back and clipping.
- 44:37This guy called, Martin couldn't glasses and Estonian musician
- 44:40round. We had an interview together and
- 44:43so like my whole thought process was like okay I should clip
- 44:47anything that he says directly about the band or so like for
- 44:52instance it'd be like his thoughts on the band's sound or
- 44:56you know his thoughts on I mean album the upcoming album.
- 44:59What? Yeah just shit like that and I'm
- 45:01thinking but like sometimes it'll be like our this
- 45:03interesting little story or anecdote and Other times like I
- 45:06got to the end and, you know, I've been listening to this
- 45:09podcast for like 15 minutes in and I'm like should I do clips
- 45:14for the final 10 minutes, 15 minutes?
- 45:17Because there were extra clips I could have done but I'm like
- 45:19I've already clipped a lot of the episode already and it's
- 45:23like you've got it, I guess save some stuff to keep the Allure of
- 45:2912 like, you know, listen to the podcast or yes, I think you
- 45:32should. You should clip up at Max to 10.
- 45:35R2 things out of our of every podcast.
- 45:38But yeah, but then the most the most important parts for them is
- 45:43that that that is kind of what I'm saying is like this
- 45:46difficult to know because it's just me, it's just my opinion.
- 45:52I could be wrong but it's also your podcast and your channel,
- 45:56right. You you decide what you would
- 45:59you give people to see? It's just that easy.
- 46:02I'm literally just doing the clips to draw interest.
- 46:06You know like the idea being yes you know everyone else does
- 46:09clips and I don't normally just do things because other people
- 46:12are doing in but I've tried it with things like twitch and
- 46:16there's like an audience for that and it's it's logical to
- 46:19me. It was like okay if people
- 46:22listen to the clips eclipse is short there, anything from like
- 46:25a minute to three minutes, five minutes or maybe longer.
- 46:30But it's much more digestible than oh shit there's a
- 46:32three-hour podcast or I don't want to sit there.
- 46:34Yes, that's right. I mean I mean I came to Joe
- 46:37Rogan through the clips that he's doing right on his in a
- 46:40separate Channel and and again I wanted to talk.
- 46:43I wanted to talk to you about that II, really think you
- 46:46should, you should make a singular channel for your
- 46:48podcast. And then another, for all the
- 46:50shenanigans that you're doing, like the Pokemon, let's play and
- 46:55the velox and the acting and stuff.
- 46:57So, here's the thing because I think the podcast is just so
- 47:00different to everything else that you're doing and it can
- 47:03draw in a whole different City of people, as you know what I
- 47:07mean, is the thing from day one? My main channel has always been
- 47:12about. This is a variety Channel, okay?
- 47:16And that will always be the case.
- 47:17However, the more and more that I do this podcast and the more
- 47:22time I see that goes into an everything, I'm like, the
- 47:26podcast will pretty much dominate this channel, right?
- 47:29That I can see, it's already been cultured because you're
- 47:32great at it. Well thank you, I don't know
- 47:34about that. That's Up For Debate. 84.
- 47:36No, no don't say something like that.
- 47:38Just take these. It's still early days and it's
- 47:45still very much shaping or being shaped.
- 47:50But, you know, I thought about what you've said, I've, I've
- 47:53have sat there and thought should I make a second channel?
- 47:55Should I do this? Because I have a second Channel.
- 47:58Yes, and my second Channel, I don't talk about it much because
- 48:02it's just, you know, IA. I don't plug myself, Put myself
- 48:06in the sense that I post on social media and stuff like
- 48:08that, but I never say, like, subscribe to this, do this do
- 48:10that, like, people make up their own minds and that's how I
- 48:13always wanted to be. What, well, I did that the last
- 48:17few days everyone that I know I went to and said, subscribe to
- 48:20my channel. Let's go watch my videos.
- 48:23Come on because I don't know, it's just, it's obviously it's
- 48:26Shameless self-advertising and everything, but why not do it?
- 48:30If you are, it's it's the thing that that shaped my perception
- 48:35on these things. When someone said, if you think
- 48:37you're making good content, it may be that you can bring
- 48:40something to the life of other people then self advertising it
- 48:44by the good content that you're doing.
- 48:47I already self advertised you know the mean I mean if you
- 48:50follow me on social media I advertised everywhere.
- 48:54Like if people and the thing is about subscribing just because
- 48:57someone's telling you to subscribe, doesn't mean you're
- 48:59going to want to subscribe. I mean there's people that I
- 49:01listen to you, sometimes, whenever they do there, do they
- 49:06You know, their episodes and they say Please Subscribe.
- 49:08It's like dude you have like fucking 2 million subscribers.
- 49:12You need to do, you can never have enough, whatever I disagree
- 49:18on this. I just I'll never be like that.
- 49:20You'll never catch me doing that same but But I get it.
- 49:24Yeah, three years ago I was the same but in the end you just
- 49:29need to. You just need to see.
- 49:30I don't know if you want to make it somewhere.
- 49:33Obviously you could also say that advertising so bad and so
- 49:38boring and it's shit. But obviously you need to do it
- 49:40because you need to get the word out, right?
- 49:42You need to get the word out because people don't find you
- 49:45like that, you need to advertise because it in, even a Eva notty
- 49:49does and Coca-Cola where you where you think that these those
- 49:53Companies are known by everyone. As far as I know, Coca-Cola had
- 49:58like a year where they tried out to do no advertising.
- 50:01And this, Same. It's it's just you gotta get
- 50:07yourself out in the world because people don't won't find
- 50:12you like that. You know, I am and I do I do it
- 50:15to the nth degree. I just I just can't bring myself
- 50:18to like utter those words to just turn around and be like,
- 50:21hey guys, please do this. Please.
- 50:23Okay, please. Okay, but let me do it.
- 50:26Okay, guys. You need to subscribe to
- 50:28Christian, Reeves, podcast and his and his channel.
- 50:31OK. And follow him on social.
- 50:33As well go to his social medias and follow those.
- 50:37Okay. Great.
- 50:38Since we got that out of the way we can we can just discuss
- 50:41something else. It was great.
- 50:43Yeah it started cutting out when you said that and I'm gonna have
- 50:49to go through this about a million times and edit this.
- 50:52This is going to be such a headache.
- 50:54Fuck sake. Yeah.
- 50:56Anyway dude, it's fine. I don't enjoy making content.
- 51:01So I mean editing is just another thing that At that.
- 51:04Yeah, but this, this isn't, this isn't editing.
- 51:06This, this is like every five seconds, it cuts out, and it's
- 51:10just me staring and, and nothing's happening.
- 51:12So I'm literally going to have to go back through this and
- 51:15every time it does that edit it out as.
- 51:20Yeah. Yeah.
- 51:21Because like editing, there's a difference to me between actual
- 51:24editing, right? Was clever and interesting and
- 51:27then filtering out mistakes. Let's call it that filtering
- 51:31out. Shit basically.
- 51:34And there's no reason for the internet's, not be working.
- 51:37Shit happens. There's like basically no one in
- 51:38my house. No one using the internet.
- 51:41No issues. What's the problem?
- 51:44Why not working internet, but boxer.
- 51:46But again, like, like a, like I already told you, I feel you on
- 51:50that one, 100%, I get so frustrated when something
- 51:55doesn't work the way it should, but not only with internet but
- 51:58if some, I don't know if some knife wouldn't cut through the
- 52:02thing that I want to cut. I would love to break the knife
- 52:06because it's not working it. Like it's supposed to be just
- 52:08going back to the thing about the clips and what your
- 52:12suggestions about what I should do with the channel.
- 52:16Here's my kind of reasoning. Like I did that let's play
- 52:19series like I recorded it. Or five months ago long time ago
- 52:27and I planned it ahead just to kind of give myself like a
- 52:31breathing space. Like okay, I have content coming
- 52:33out. So if there's time when I don't
- 52:34upload then whatever and then it just kind of happened that I
- 52:39started the podcast. I ended up uploading all the
- 52:42time. Yeah purely a just happened like
- 52:47this and and that I genuinely thought about like deleting the
- 52:51let's play series and not having it at all.
- 52:54And I was, I know, I'll see how it does.
- 52:56I'll see how it does but the reality is moving forward with
- 53:00the channel. I don't think you're going to
- 53:02see like reactions because a it takes a long time and be it's
- 53:08just I don't enjoy it that much. I would do it.
- 53:11If I was with someone and we're reacting together because I
- 53:15think that that's fun. That's interesting.
- 53:17Yeah, but if it's just me, I mean, the only time it was ever
- 53:22interesting to me was when I was Is reacting to my old music.
- 53:25That was kind of fun for me, but otherwise, yeah.
- 53:28And with gaming, I probably still will do it in the future,
- 53:33but probably not often. Like, I'm think I'm going to
- 53:35always save that for streaming. And again, we're streaming I
- 53:40have to have an audience. Yes.
- 53:41So that has to be built for YouTube, and then that will give
- 53:45me a reason to actually go on to it because there's just no point
- 53:48me streaming to no one but we've spread, okay, yeah, dude.
- 53:54In my opinion, it does. It shouldn't make, it should
- 53:56make a difference. If you're streaming 20 or a
- 53:59million people, it shouldn't did, you should always just have
- 54:04your I don't know you're entertaining grand jury.
- 54:10I can't believe I could be entertaining when there's no one
- 54:13there, dude. You're talking to a wall no
- 54:16matter what I mean. You're talking to a camera, no
- 54:18matter what. If you talk 20 people or a
- 54:20million people, it makes no difference in the end.
- 54:23It makes no difference. Difference, I think I mean, I
- 54:25mean, I think it's I've done so we're taking things so many
- 54:31streams. If you got my second Channel, I
- 54:34think I have like 60 70 something crazy like that.
- 54:39I mean, if people genuinely Miss, I said this to someone in
- 54:42my Discord today. Someone new joined.
- 54:44And they were like, yeah, I'm senior stream in a while.
- 54:45I was like, yeah, like until there's a demand for it.
- 54:50I didn't see the point. I mean, if people start saying
- 54:52like, hey, we want to see your stream up.
- 54:54Okay. Like come in and we'll do it
- 54:56right but there just isn't a demand for it and I'm just
- 55:00looking at like the things that there is a demand for more
- 55:04people enjoy. So moving forward, I can always
- 55:07do the acting on the always, do the music but it won't be like
- 55:13You know, it won't be loads and I think as time goes on like
- 55:17particularly when I get I managed to get a full-time job,
- 55:21it's going to be trickier. I'm going to I'm going to have
- 55:23to be, I'm probably gonna have to just work my ass off then but
- 55:27like you'll notice that they'll be less uploads less frequently.
- 55:32Yeah, but it's fine because they'll still be a lot on the
- 55:35channel but it'll probably just be like the podcast and in the
- 55:38occasional Vlog or acting or music, something like that.
- 55:43Yes. But you know but I'll always
- 55:46keep it going and obviously the goal is always, to be hope.
- 55:50So, right to be full-time. The more make my don't make my
- 55:53donation before. Even, you know, it won't it
- 56:01won't it won't, it won't be like that it because to me, it's a
- 56:07dream. I don't want to obviously do 925
- 56:09the rest of my life. So that's the main kind of
- 56:12driving force, Sam. I couldn't, I actually couldn't,
- 56:16I hate, I hate working. I absolutely hate working.
- 56:19You could say that streaming is working as well, and it
- 56:22certainly is, but it's a work that I would definitely do.
- 56:27Yeah, I don't think it is. I think it is different because
- 56:30you're doing what you enjoy. I mean that's the thing I work
- 56:34my ass off when it comes to YouTube and then sometimes I sit
- 56:38back and I realize I could damn I've been editing for like
- 56:42longer than I would work in a job.
- 56:44But I'm willing to do this because of the fact that I love
- 56:48what I do and I love putting out and seeing people's reactions to
- 56:52it and stuff. Whereas when I Like 8 to 10
- 56:57hours, or more in some job where I've got like a little bit of
- 57:01interest. It's like, very Like okay, like
- 57:05if they're marketing I'll go in first two or three hours, I'll
- 57:08get probably most of my work done anyway because it's just
- 57:11how I work and then I'll just be bored for the rest of the day
- 57:15because it's a case of like, I've got my work done.
- 57:18Now, I'm just trying to find work and it's, that's the worst
- 57:20thing about my job is, when you're trying to find yourself
- 57:23work, because you're basically saying to yourself, okay, we
- 57:26want to create work for ourselves and Unless you love
- 57:30what you do, you're never going to have that kind of attitude
- 57:33little time. We're gonna be like I want to
- 57:35get my work done so I can just chill.
- 57:37That's that's very early. Yeah, of course and in the end
- 57:41most people only work efficiently 20% of the time that
- 57:45they're at work. Right.
- 57:47Exactly. So it's I mean there's there's
- 57:50we definitely need a re whole of the whole working system, right?
- 57:55Google Google does a super job you can, when you come to Google
- 57:58and the Learning as an engineer, you can do whatever the fuck you
- 58:02want. As long as you are done with
- 58:03your tasks in the evening, you could just Where did like swim
- 58:11in their dedicated swimming pool or his his the issue with
- 58:15Google? Yeah.
- 58:17Google is not a career. Google is a cult Google is I
- 58:23don't know anything about that. It's a problem.
- 58:25Sounds weird. Yeah is weird.
- 58:27I've read stories from people who've worked there and it's
- 58:30like it's that sort of fucked thing where it's like that, you
- 58:35know, there's no diff, you know, split between work life and
- 58:40personal life. It's like they basically put all
- 58:42of this stuff there to kind of encourage you to stay there and
- 58:46like never leave and it's like no work should be work.
- 58:50You know what can be a big part of your life and be like you
- 58:53know, but I think you need to have time where you're not
- 58:56working, you're doing stuff that isn't like, you know, for
- 58:59instance, I'll go and I'll just go play basketball or I'll For
- 59:02walks, or I'll go out and play some pool.
- 59:05I don't know, just isn't fun. That's like not related to
- 59:08content and doesn't involve me, having a phone pointing at
- 59:11myself for a camera pointed at myself, or whatever.
- 59:14Like, because I think it's not just about getting away from,
- 59:19from all of that, it's about giving your mind, some space to
- 59:25breathe. I don't think that's a proper
- 59:26sentence, but yes, because I often find this as way if I If I
- 59:32just don't feel very inspired or I need to just get out, usually,
- 59:36when I've done that, I'll come up with ideas, just randomly and
- 59:40then I'll feel like inspired and fresh but you can never feel
- 59:43that way if you never take a break.
- 59:44If you never just relax. Yes it's not exactly your your
- 59:51your break. You need free time to come up
- 59:53with new ideas. That's just what it is.
- 59:57Otherwise you're never going to, you're never going to get
- 59:59anywhere. If you don't give yourself that
- 1:00:03it's this, it's the same with hustle culture, right?
- 1:00:06People or hustling. But then at the end, you're
- 1:00:10working 16-hour days, but you're getting as much done as if you
- 1:00:14would work 10 hours, right? Or 11.
- 1:00:17Because at some point, your body is just shutting down.
- 1:00:20Your mind is shutting down and then you're like, oh yeah, I
- 1:00:23worked 16 hours today. What have you got?
- 1:00:26Yeah, like listen, this is that. Oh, I could have done that in
- 1:00:29eight hours and there. Like, hmm, shit.
- 1:00:33It's yeah, yeah. You can't work too much because
- 1:00:37at that point, you're but you're just not going to be as good
- 1:00:40anymore. Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:41Plus your body just shuts down. Oh yeah, I find it frustrating
- 1:00:44because sometimes I'll be on a roll and I'll be getting loads
- 1:00:47of work done for like YouTube, for instance.
- 1:00:49But my body's just like, no, you need to rest and I'm like, come
- 1:00:52on. I don't want to get sick.
- 1:00:53I don't wanna do this and it's like, no, no, no, it's a breath.
- 1:00:57Yeah, it's like you need to rest.
- 1:00:59You need to To just do something else and I'm a fine, we'll do
- 1:01:06that. And then it's good is always
- 1:01:08good in the end. Yeah, of course it is.
- 1:01:12I mean you always gotta heat a you always got to listen to your
- 1:01:16body and your mind. That's that's like the most
- 1:01:19important thing that people need to learn to listen to themselves
- 1:01:23and not just torture themselves with too much.
- 1:01:28Right. Otherwise you're facing burnout
- 1:01:30or whatever the fuck. Hmm that's true.
- 1:01:34That's true. But Bono is very dangerous as
- 1:01:37well just in general 100%. I think I would.
- 1:01:46Yeah I mean I think if anything I really depends on the type of
- 1:01:51positions you have, but I think that like, in a lot of jobs,
- 1:01:55this whole nine to five thing is, Of immature.
- 1:01:59Yes, you know it is I can think of so many times when I've
- 1:02:04worked, you know, for certain companies in marketing and I'm
- 1:02:07just like I got my work done at like midday.
- 1:02:12So I'm just here for another five hours doing what, why can I
- 1:02:15not just go home? Yeah, it's that easy.
- 1:02:18I did better work than all the others.
- 1:02:21Just let me go home which is pointless.
- 1:02:25Yeah, I'm companies should reward that.
- 1:02:27That obviously, but they're not, they're doing the total
- 1:02:30opposite. If you're done with your work
- 1:02:33earlier you just get more work. Why would you be done with your
- 1:02:36work early at that point then yeah I'll just take the same
- 1:02:40amount of work and stretch it out to eight hours.
- 1:02:44I don't have a problem with that.
- 1:02:45That's the reality is well it's like yeah I suppose it does
- 1:02:50depend on your managers as well but when I when I realized when
- 1:02:54I got disillusioned and I realized it like managers It's
- 1:02:57like that and the company doesn't care about you.
- 1:03:00I started being I never got lazy, I always did my work.
- 1:03:03I always did it hard and I never let that okay because it's a
- 1:03:06reflection of who I am. It's, you know, but the same
- 1:03:09time I wouldn't I wouldn't put in the same amount of effort
- 1:03:12into like Building projects by myself anymore.
- 1:03:16Because it's like. Who am I doing this for no one
- 1:03:19cares. You know, okay, I remember one
- 1:03:24of the dreams, I left it was on bad terms, unfortunately.
- 1:03:31You know, we left, I left it professionally.
- 1:03:34And but like, You know, like I left I worked really hard even
- 1:03:41towards the very end and I made sure that I left a good hand
- 1:03:44over and stuff, but I'm pretty sure that like the work that I
- 1:03:48left over like no one bothered to like, check that out.
- 1:03:53And I wondered a lot during the final days if I was, if I was
- 1:03:56just wasting my time, if I should just sit around and do
- 1:03:59nothing but I just couldn't, I couldn't bring myself to do
- 1:04:02that. I just felt like it was like
- 1:04:04wrong somehow to do that. And I kind of just goes against
- 1:04:10what I believe is. Yeah, I don't know from the on
- 1:04:18the field that I'm working at like the co workers and the
- 1:04:23managers and everything. If I if I'm very industrious or
- 1:04:26not because oftentimes if someone just the atmosphere is
- 1:04:32really good. Then yeah I'll put in a lot of
- 1:04:34time. No problem with a good with a
- 1:04:37good. As well because yeah, if you
- 1:04:39treat me, well, I'm going to treat you well as well.
- 1:04:43Hmm. It's very important, it's just
- 1:04:46respect I guess. Yeah, that does seem to be a
- 1:04:52lack of that in many workplaces. Unfortunately it's this kind of
- 1:04:56thing of I think that they treat the job as though.
- 1:05:01It's like, you know, you should be grateful for having this job,
- 1:05:05like you should be up for that. You get away.
- 1:05:07You should be grateful that we're bestowing this upon you.
- 1:05:11And it's like, well, yeah, there are many jobs out there and the
- 1:05:16more experience you get the better.
- 1:05:18You are with like marketing yourself.
- 1:05:20The more it's available to you. I mean, certainly since iíve
- 1:05:26become unemployed and I of Started branching out and trying
- 1:05:30all these different things. I've realized that there's a lot
- 1:05:32of different ways that I could potentially make money.
- 1:05:34And unfortunately I'm not able to like immediately get money
- 1:05:40right now but you know they often say that like you put the
- 1:05:43hard work in the money will come.
- 1:05:45And yeah you know I'm looking at everything that I'm doing right
- 1:05:49now and it is kind of building this like unofficial portfolio
- 1:05:53in terms of being able to okay if you What I'm doing.
- 1:05:58It's like okay, podcasting is number one, right?
- 1:06:01And then you've got things like acting there's music.
- 1:06:04I've done some voice acting for some, some projects, which will
- 1:06:08be coming at school. I can't really say much on that,
- 1:06:11but it will be a future thing. But it the reason I say that is
- 1:06:15it like demonstrates that there's different things that
- 1:06:17you can do and it's about like thinking outside the box and
- 1:06:20really looking like all the different things that you could
- 1:06:22potentially do to find employment.
- 1:06:27Because I think a lot of people when they Become unemployed that
- 1:06:29just like, oh well, I'll just look for jobs though, right?
- 1:06:33And for me it's like I just see a problem with that, like I am
- 1:06:36applying for jobs right now, like I have to but I'm not.
- 1:06:42I'm not putting all of my eggs in one basket and relying on
- 1:06:44that. Because another thing as well is
- 1:06:47that like jobs you can just get like you, like you said, like,
- 1:06:50with that job earlier. You know, you need to get fired
- 1:06:52at any point and it's the same in corporate, you know,
- 1:06:55marketing. Unfortunately is so tied to
- 1:06:57sail. Was that a lot of your targets
- 1:07:00are based on that, and I've seen, like, major managers in
- 1:07:03certain companies like come in. You know, they get paid a ton of
- 1:07:07money but they get fired within like, six months because they
- 1:07:09didn't meet a certain Target. And I've seen people My Level
- 1:07:12like pretty much entry or mid-level marketing, just get
- 1:07:15fired after less than a year, like it's brutal.
- 1:07:19So I treat it as a very short term missed type of job and I do
- 1:07:24my best. But it's like I don't really
- 1:07:26have High Hopes with it to be So I'm just kind of looking at
- 1:07:29everything I can do in my life and even with YouTube, I don't
- 1:07:34put all my eggs in one basket. I mean that's one of the reasons
- 1:07:36why the YouTube I did a lot of work to try and get it on
- 1:07:40different platforms and you know I'm trying to build up some yes
- 1:07:45right. I'm trying, I'm trying to kind
- 1:07:48of like, build something with it.
- 1:07:49That maybe all become. I don't know how to put it, but
- 1:07:54like, Maybe they'll be able to get sponsors in the future for
- 1:07:59if I can, you know, show that there's numbers and staff and
- 1:08:02I'm thinking ahead. But You know, I'm trying a lot
- 1:08:08of different things and I think that that's kind of the point at
- 1:08:11once, trying to say I'm just taking ages to get to the point.
- 1:08:14But if you try a lot of different things and you try on
- 1:08:18different lots of platforms and you just keep thinking, like,
- 1:08:21what can I do what's available to me?
- 1:08:24Like, what kind of different things can I do?
- 1:08:26That's kind of like a healthy mentality to have I think and
- 1:08:30that's a good way of being able to approach it.
- 1:08:35Yes. I mean I mean you always need to
- 1:08:37find what people want from you as well or what you're good at
- 1:08:41as well. So I'm a big proponent of just
- 1:08:44going out in the world and trying lots of different shit.
- 1:08:47I taught myself, I told that to my sister my sister was just
- 1:08:50doing the her degree and just wants to go to university now
- 1:08:57and I was like, why don't you just go to New Zealand or two?
- 1:09:00Like you can always what's you can do?
- 1:09:02Because she was like I don't I don't really know what I Do
- 1:09:06there's so many things I can study, I don't really know what
- 1:09:10I want to do. So I was like, yeah, then just
- 1:09:12go into a foreign country and look at what they're doing and
- 1:09:16take a look at the world and see what you want to do.
- 1:09:20Because I found what I want to do and I was at this in the same
- 1:09:23position but obviously for me it or for me it was pretty obvious
- 1:09:27what I want to do which was yeah, be an Entertainer, be
- 1:09:32YouTube, twitch whatever you have on the Annette.
- 1:09:36And then I came into a marketing job and that was very good as
- 1:09:40well. And that's like another thing
- 1:09:41that I could think for myself just being a marketing and
- 1:09:44Market here. Hmm.
- 1:09:47Yeah. I need to try a different stuff.
- 1:09:50I have the exact same mentality, to be honest.
- 1:09:53I'm looking at everything and I see it as a kind of, like, what
- 1:09:58stuff can you always do? And what stuff has like a time
- 1:10:01limit? Because I feel like things like
- 1:10:03marketing, their as good as, as long as you're young, whereas,
- 1:10:09you know, once you reach certain age, it's like It really
- 1:10:14realistically? There is a form of ageism, it
- 1:10:16doesn't matter that Society is purporting.
- 1:10:18You know, you know, we're against ageism were against this
- 1:10:21regrets that it's like, you see the general age of the people
- 1:10:25around you and like how long you kind of have like, I think for
- 1:10:30marketing, unless you're at the top of the company, I would say
- 1:10:37it's like up to about 40s and then that's the kind of cutoff
- 1:10:40point and I might be controversial to say but I'm
- 1:10:43just saying on average what I've seen you know it's generally
- 1:10:46speaking it's young people in their 20s that's the average.
- 1:10:50You know thirties is thirties and forties is management past
- 1:10:54that and if you haven't gotten to the top of the company then
- 1:10:57your that's it. And that's yeah yeah I can see
- 1:11:02that. That's that's the but that kind
- 1:11:04of thing. Yeah.
- 1:11:07But then again, in the companies do you were there?
- 1:11:10That was probably a very, very young field.
- 1:11:13Anyways, so, I mean, I have seen people that do marketing that
- 1:11:18were like, in their 60s. Yeah, they did marketing.
- 1:11:21Very, very different. Yeah, I'm not saying that that
- 1:11:25doesn't happen, because I have seen that I agree with you.
- 1:11:28Just saying on average. That that's a rarity to see that
- 1:11:34likely often. When you see that, it'll be Like
- 1:11:36some designer that's like particularly well known and very
- 1:11:40good at their craft, and they've managed to do it for that long
- 1:11:43or. Yeah.
- 1:11:44Like I said, someone someone who's, you know, an owner and a
- 1:11:47company or something or high up in the company that has that
- 1:11:50position. You know, it's rare that you
- 1:11:52see, say people in the 50s and 60s that are just like, I don't
- 1:11:58know, working as a copywriter or your standard sales position,
- 1:12:03you know, it's not impossible. It's just unlikely.
- 1:12:06And that's why I always look at like everything that I do and
- 1:12:09I'm like, what the different ways I can make money.
- 1:12:11What can I learn? What can I, you know, what will
- 1:12:13be useful in the future? Same as your exact same as your
- 1:12:17mentality. Try as many different things as
- 1:12:19possible. Just so there's loads of
- 1:12:21different options. So that if shit does hit the
- 1:12:25fan, it's like, okay, well, I got different things I can do.
- 1:12:27I mean, I, for instance, customer service.
- 1:12:29You can be any age to do that, that doesn't matter.
- 1:12:33So that's kind of a it's not ideal but It's a job for life.
- 1:12:38I guess we're gonna let something again.
- 1:12:42I always thought that to be an Entertainer or a twitch streamer
- 1:12:46or something, you need to be 25:21 and everything.
- 1:12:52I was always beating myself up and I was like, oh my God you're
- 1:12:56already 23. You're already 24.
- 1:13:01You don't have a bass of all going.
- 1:13:04Yeah you're never gonna make A kitten.
- 1:13:06But I look at it. Of course he's playing RuneScape
- 1:13:09and he has like seven. Are people watching him?
- 1:13:12It's great. I don't think age is necessarily
- 1:13:16the thing that sets you apart. It's always your capability.
- 1:13:20You're right. How good you are and I think in
- 1:13:26sales old people just just say ah fuck this job at some point
- 1:13:30and just go into other fields because it is a hard job and
- 1:13:33it's a weird mix of Things you have to do and I just want to
- 1:13:37say a big thank you to steal Z for being on the 25th episode of
