- 0:10Speaker 1: That is not H & M.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Oh, yeah it is.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Bro, I go in there from time to time. I'll
- 0:16Speaker 3: pop in there.
- 0:17Speaker 1: We need a sponsor. H & M.
- 0:19Speaker 2: It's so funny. I'll go in there and people will
- 0:21Speaker 2: do double takes because they'll be like, they'll see me.
- 0:24Speaker 3: And I'm in there going through the rack.
- 0:27Speaker 1: No, I know a lot of people come up in
- 0:29Speaker 1: H & M.
- 0:29Speaker 4: They go to Zara. My wife be killing at Zara.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Bro, it's all about if you got some style, you
- 0:37Speaker 2: can go in there and put some stuff together. Because
- 0:39Speaker 2: I've walked into places and people are like, dude, what
- 0:42Speaker 2: are you doing? Yeah, my boy Tao, he'd be like, bro,
- 0:46Speaker 2: where you get that? He's like, that's a nice shirt.
- 0:48Speaker 3: And I'm like, H & M, dog?
- 0:50Speaker 2: But yeah, I've had some $ 1, 500, $ 2, 000 suits. I've had
- 0:54Speaker 2: some tailors. No, I don't go that far.
- 0:58Speaker 5: You've had suits that cost $ 1, 000 to $ 2, 000?
- 1:01Speaker 2: No more than $ 3, 000. No, never.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Terrell or Monte Owens?
- 1:05Speaker 2: No, sir. No, sir.
- 1:06Speaker 3: No, sir.
- 1:07Speaker 1: You don't think you've paid more than $ 2, 000 for a suit?
- 1:09Speaker 2: I said, no more. I don't think I've ever paid
- 1:11Speaker 2: no more than three grand for a suit.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Okay, three grand maybe.
- 1:14Speaker 2: And that's a stretch, bro. I don't, that's too much. Like,
- 1:18Speaker 2: that is too much.
- 1:18Speaker 1: No, I just remember there was a time in L.A.
- 1:20Speaker 5: When it was like all these different black, yes, all
- 1:24Speaker 5: these dudes were making suits, L.A.V., Dion, Reggie Jenkins.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Yeah. My boy, Wayne Weezy out of Atlanta. Yeah. Man,
- 1:39Speaker 2: some of everybody.
- 1:40Speaker 5: Yeah, so I was just saying, I thought those suits
- 1:42Speaker 5: were always, because whenever I talked to them, they was,
- 1:46Speaker 5: and I would go.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Then I would get little discounts too because I would introduce.
- 1:51Speaker 2: There we go. I would introduce them. Guess what we
- 1:53Speaker 2: just did, ladies and gentlemen?
- 1:54Speaker 1: We just got to the point.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Ha!
- 1:56Speaker 1: This is Get to the Point with Chris Spencer and T.O.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Terrell Owens.
- 2:00Speaker 5: How is everybody? Please like, share, and subscribe. Listen, we've
- 2:04Speaker 5: asked you guys to comment. You've been doing it.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Doing it.
- 2:08Speaker 5: And that has actually brought us to how many people
- 2:10Speaker 5: follow us on TikTok now?
- 2:11Speaker 4: 100,000. 100K.
- 2:12Speaker 1: In a short amount of time.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Y'all can clap.
- 2:17Speaker 1: We got a huge crew.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:20Speaker 1: That's at least 100 people clapping right there.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. I mean, we appreciate you guys tuning in,
- 2:25Speaker 2: showing us love. And for me, it just lets everybody
- 2:28Speaker 2: know we're what they want to see.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 2:31Speaker 3: And we're trying to give it to them.
- 2:32Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 2:33Speaker 3: We're trying to give it to y'all, let y'all know, like, yo,
- 2:35Speaker 3: we coming.
- 2:36Speaker 2: You know what I mean? We're not in competition with nobody.
- 2:38Speaker 2: We're just giving you different perspectives, different outlook, different insight,
- 2:42Speaker 2: giving us our opinion on whatever topic it may be.
- 2:47Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:47Speaker 1: We got a big guest today.
- 2:48Speaker 2: And speaking of topics.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Big guest.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, look right there.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Todd Gurley.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Todd Gurley is in the building.
- 2:57Speaker 2: What's up, sir?
- 2:58Speaker 4: What's going on, fellas? How y'all doing today?
- 2:59Speaker 1: Incredible, man.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Glad to have you here, man. Hey, let me say this.
- 3:03Speaker 2: People always tell me when they see me, they're like, man, bro,
- 3:06Speaker 2: you look like you can get out there tomorrow.
- 3:07Speaker 1: That's the first thing I said when I saw him.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Hey.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Just try to keep yourself in good shape, man.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Rams couldn't use a running back.
- 3:15Speaker 4: They could use a lot of things. Running back is
- 3:17Speaker 4: definitely not their problem.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Well, where's Kyron?
- 3:20Speaker 6: They like to take him out. They like to take
- 3:23Speaker 6: him out. But Corham, rightfully so, he be doing his
- 3:26Speaker 6: thing as well, too.
- 3:27Speaker 4: But Kyron, he nice, man.
- 3:30Speaker 1: You hear what he said last week?
- 3:31Speaker 2: Why they lost?
- 3:34Speaker 4: It was misinterpreted the wrong way.
- 3:37Speaker 1: It was misinterpreted. He said, what's going on out there?
- 3:39Speaker 1: I wasn't in the game.
- 3:40Speaker 3: But you say he's nice, though.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Yeah, Kyron's nice. But he's, He's been having incredible games.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:47Speaker 4: And he got the hot hand. I don't really like when,
- 3:49Speaker 4: you know, coaches do the hot, you know, take out
- 3:51Speaker 4: the hot hand.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Why do they do that? That was my point. Like,
- 3:53Speaker 2: you being a running back. But, yeah, but I've had
- 3:57Speaker 2: this issue when I play, too. It's like when you're
- 4:00Speaker 2: in a rhythm, nobody can stop you. Like, why not? Like,
- 4:03Speaker 2: y'all doing this. Keep feeding me. Keep feeding me.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Why do you think that is?
- 4:08Speaker 6: You want to get your guy in to make sure
- 4:10Speaker 6: you look right on the other side as well, too.
- 4:13Speaker 4: So when you've got a draftee.
- 4:14Speaker 6: That you picked, then you're like, you know, you don't
- 4:17Speaker 6: want to say, like, what the hell did we even
- 4:19Speaker 6: draft this guy for if we're not going to ever
- 4:21Speaker 6: put him in? And I get the situation, too, where
- 4:24Speaker 6: it's like, you know you want to save that back,
- 4:27Speaker 6: but all right, that's something you come into the season,
- 4:31Speaker 6: sit the guys down, and let them know, hey, this
- 4:34Speaker 6: is how I want this rotation to be.
- 4:36Speaker 3: So they may have an understanding of why they're in
- 4:39Speaker 3: and out.
- 4:39Speaker 4: That way you know.
- 4:40Speaker 6: Obviously, you draft a guy in Blake Corham, you, from
- 4:44Speaker 6: a Kyron perspective, you already kind of know what it is, right? Like,
- 4:47Speaker 6: all right, seen this before. They're going to try to
- 4:50Speaker 6: draft the same type of style running back and get
- 4:53Speaker 6: me out. Or that might not be the case as well.
- 4:55Speaker 6: But I feel like if coaches can just sit down,
- 4:57Speaker 6: maybe they have, maybe they haven't.
- 4:59Speaker 4: I don't know. But from the comments, it doesn't seem
- 5:03Speaker 4: like that, right?
- 5:04Speaker 1: Another reason I hear it.
- 5:07Speaker 5: People want to say that this sudden shakeup of losing
- 5:10Speaker 5: is the Australia trip. A lot of people are blaming
- 5:16Speaker 5: that as the little pinpoint when all this started to happen.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Like that's all started?
- 5:20Speaker 1: That's what I read. That's what they say at my barbershop.
- 5:24Speaker 4: You know, people just be saying anything.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 5:27Speaker 1: But it does seem like it started around then, right?
- 5:30Speaker 4: I mean, San Fran's still undefeated with their 6-0.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yeah, but didn't they go and they had like a fight?
- 5:35Speaker 2: They went a week late. I mean, they went a
- 5:37Speaker 2: week earlier.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Yeah, they went a week earlier. I was out there.
- 5:40Speaker 1: The Rams was there, landed at the airport, and went
- 5:42Speaker 1: straight to the field.
- 5:43Speaker 4: They ain't bounced back since, huh?
- 5:44Speaker 1: They still got jet lag.
- 5:46Speaker 6: They not finishing, though, bro. Like the games that, because
- 5:52Speaker 6: you look at the three or four games they lost,
- 5:54Speaker 6: it's like very marginal. And they not finishing the games
- 5:58Speaker 6: that they usually finish.
- 6:00Speaker 2: So what do you feel like that, is contributed to
- 6:03Speaker 2: or attributed to. Because if we as athletes, yeah, we
- 6:07Speaker 2: practice finishing games. Those are things that we work on
- 6:12Speaker 2: throughout the course of the week. Early part of the week,
- 6:15Speaker 2: you work on your third downs.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Define what that means, finishing games in a practice.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Executing the plays.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Finishing plays, like no mistakes, no like jumping off sides.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Going through certain situations. Like you're down three.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Got you.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Clock, management, things of that nature.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Like situational football. Like there's so many. So the coach
- 6:37Speaker 2: may put you in those type of situations. So it
- 6:40Speaker 2: may come up in the game. You know what I mean?
- 6:42Speaker 3: So again, at the end of the day, There's one
- 6:44Speaker 3: real reason you can't win games.
- 6:46Speaker 2: That's turnovers. You want to take care of the football.
- 6:48Speaker 2: That's where you're airing the ball out. Or as receivers,
- 6:52Speaker 2: running backs, we're taking care of the football.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Right. Penalties.
- 6:55Speaker 2: And the other things are penalties. Those are mental things. Self-inflicted. Exactly, yeah.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Those are things that prevent you from progressing, and it'll
- 7:02Speaker 2: stall drives. And that's like, those things start in really
- 7:06Speaker 2: high school and college, like the mental aspect of knowing
- 7:09Speaker 2: the down and this and that. Hiking the ball on three,
- 7:12Speaker 2: like the counts on three or two, trying to get
- 7:14Speaker 2: the defense to jump offside.
- 7:16Speaker 3: It's crazy because we practice.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Those things all throughout the course of the week, knowing
- 7:20Speaker 2: that we may do it, and then we do it
- 7:22Speaker 2: in the game, but then we can jump offside.
- 7:24Speaker 4: You'd be like, oh.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Practicing game is two different things, correct?
- 7:30Speaker 6: Yes and no because, you know, practice should almost be
- 7:33Speaker 6: harder than the game to where it's like clockwork.
- 7:36Speaker 4: And football is one of them sports where you practice
- 7:39Speaker 4: way more times than you play.
- 7:41Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying? It gets boring because you're
- 7:43Speaker 6: practicing the same old stuff, but you've got to fall
- 7:45Speaker 6: in love with that boring process. So always easier said
- 7:49Speaker 6: than done. And it's always one of those situations where
- 7:52Speaker 6: it's like act like you've been there before. Sometimes people have,
- 7:55Speaker 6: sometimes people haven't. But I think it's definitely a little
- 7:58Speaker 6: bit of coaching. But then also, you know, you've been
- 8:00Speaker 6: having some penalty calls as well too. But, you know,
- 8:03Speaker 6: as coaches always say, let's not let these guys in
- 8:06Speaker 6: black and white determine the outcome of the game.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Right, right.
- 8:09Speaker 1: You miss it?
- 8:11Speaker 4: Oh, no, no. I like being a fan. I like
- 8:13Speaker 4: being a fan.
- 8:13Speaker 2: You don't miss it?
- 8:14Speaker 4: Mm-mm, no.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Not a lick?
- 8:17Speaker 4: Mm-mm, no.
- 8:17Speaker 5: You know when I talk to people, and maybe it's
- 8:19Speaker 5: different in your situation, they say they don't miss the
- 8:21Speaker 5: game or the practice, but they miss the guys.
- 8:24Speaker 4: No.
- 8:26Speaker 6: I mean, they're cool, but we're all in different stages
- 8:28Speaker 6: of our life as well, too, right? Like, you know,
- 8:30Speaker 6: obviously I was 20, 25, 32 now.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 8:37Speaker 6: I wouldn't even probably be, I probably still would, but
- 8:39Speaker 6: I probably wouldn't have the same conversations that I was
- 8:42Speaker 6: having in the locker room at my early 20s.
- 8:45Speaker 3: So do you watch a lot of football?
- 8:47Speaker 4: I still watch it, yeah, for sure.
- 8:48Speaker 2: So you're telling me you don't ever watch and think,
- 8:52Speaker 2: I could still help them.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Nah, I watch the game now and be like, what
- 8:56Speaker 4: the hell was I thinking? Being out there, getting hit
- 8:58Speaker 4: like that.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Really?
- 8:59Speaker 4: I'd be like, hell yeah. I'd be like, boy, you
- 9:01Speaker 4: is crazy. I'd be almost thanking, you know, thanking a man.
- 9:04Speaker 6: I do be thanking a man upstairs that, thankfully and gratefully,
- 9:08Speaker 6: I was able to get out when I was able
- 9:10Speaker 6: to get out, though, for sure.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Man, let me tell you this. Give me about three
- 9:13Speaker 2: or four weeks. If Sean McVay said, be ready for
- 9:18Speaker 2: the playoff, give me three or four weeks. Hey, get
- 9:21Speaker 2: to the point, I'm shutting it down.
- 9:23Speaker 4: My body will be shutting down.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Hey, get to the point.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I'm shutting it down.
- 9:28Speaker 5: Maybe in his position, that's not one of those positions
- 9:31Speaker 5: where you want to hurry up and get back to playing.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Because I think he's getting hit more than you.
- 9:36Speaker 6: It's not that, too. It's like, I mean, you run
- 9:39Speaker 6: a route, you're going to run a good route. Like,
- 9:43Speaker 6: everything determines how my whole line blocks.
- 9:46Speaker 5: Yes.
- 9:46Speaker 4: The play call and the schemes.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Everything.
- 9:49Speaker 4: All of that. Now, maybe I can get you, you know,
- 9:51Speaker 4: one yard. Right. Right.
- 9:52Speaker 6: I don't want to see how I feel to get
- 9:54Speaker 6: that one yard either.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Really? Which position probably gets the most CTE situations?
- 10:00Speaker 4: I would say O-line, D-tackle.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Because they hit tight ends. Every play.
- 10:04Speaker 4: The tight ends. Definitely running back, too.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I'm thinking of running back.
- 10:08Speaker 4: What you said, the what? They get the what?
- 10:10Speaker 1: What did I say?
- 10:11Speaker 4: What was your question? What position has the most CTE?
- 10:14Speaker 2: Situations, yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Situations.
- 10:17Speaker 6: Shit, I mean, special teams, guys. I don't know about
- 10:20Speaker 6: the new special teams.
- 10:21Speaker 2: But special teams.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I hate that, by the way.
- 10:24Speaker 4: You do?
- 10:24Speaker 1: What? The new special teams where they, like, kick the ball.
- 10:26Speaker 4: And they just stand there.
- 10:27Speaker 2: It reminds me.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it reminds me. Till they catch the ball. I
- 10:30Speaker 1: don't know how old you are. But when we were kids.
- 10:32Speaker 2: I'm 52. A young 52. Where's the camera?
- 10:34Speaker 1: The camera's supposed to be on you.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:35Speaker 1: You remember we used to have the magnet, and they go, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:39Speaker 1: That shit reminds me of.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Did you have that? Yeah, I remember that game. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:43Speaker 2: That's really old school.
- 10:44Speaker 1: That was like.
- 10:45Speaker 2: I was like young, I was like three or four,
- 10:47Speaker 2: about five or six or something when I saw those.
- 10:49Speaker 4: I'm a major team.
- 10:49Speaker 6: It's a short running back though. It's a collision every play. Well,
- 10:52Speaker 6: if you get in the ball.
- 10:53Speaker 2: So that's what I'm saying.
- 10:54Speaker 5: I can see a running back not wanting to be
- 10:56Speaker 5: in a hurry to say, I missed the game, I
- 10:59Speaker 5: want to go back.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I can see a receiver like you. You're still almost
- 11:03Speaker 1: as fast as you were when you retired. You're going
- 11:05Speaker 1: to do some glorious shit. You still got hops.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I can still catch a back shoulder fade. I
- 11:10Speaker 2: can run a slant. I try to tell people and
- 11:13Speaker 2: explain third down, like situational football, especially red zone. Honestly,
- 11:18Speaker 2: it's 20, 30 yards of really running or less than that.
- 11:21Speaker 2: And then when people say that I can play, when
- 11:23Speaker 2: I say that, they automatically, I guess, in their minds,
- 11:26Speaker 2: they envision me going across the middle of Like every play.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Every play, no, yeah.
- 11:31Speaker 4: I'm like, bro, that's not good. He can still get
- 11:33Speaker 4: 30 snaps.
- 11:34Speaker 6: I mean, I seen it five years ago in the
- 11:36Speaker 6: FCF league. You was getting after them boys.
- 11:38Speaker 2: So it's just like, yeah.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Very impressive, though.
- 11:41Speaker 2: It's not that hard.
- 11:42Speaker 4: And it's up here, too.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yeah, knowledge of the game, too, bro. So, yeah, he
- 11:47Speaker 2: said he can't imagine himself out there.
- 11:50Speaker 1: And I understand.
- 11:51Speaker 6: And I'm sure you see it every week with just
- 11:53Speaker 6: the terrible play call and just the terrible situation awareness.
- 11:57Speaker 2: I was watching the game with my son.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Can't believe this shit.
- 12:00Speaker 2: You know, he was with the Niners the last two
- 12:01Speaker 2: years on practice squad. We were watching the game Mike
- 12:06Speaker 2: was playing, Mike Evans, and I was like, look at
- 12:09Speaker 2: his routes. I'm like, I can do that. It's not
- 12:12Speaker 2: like he's blazing speed. He just knows how to run routes,
- 12:16Speaker 2: knows where to go, and then the quarterback can save you. Like,
- 12:19Speaker 2: he was just catching, like, some really, like, average, like, plays.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Oh, he's killing it. But he ran straight.
- 12:28Speaker 2: But he was putting up numbers, though.
- 12:30Speaker 4: No, he's having damn near one of his best years.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Yeah, bro, he was balling.
- 12:34Speaker 1: And he's saying you can do that.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Bro, absolutely.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 12:39Speaker 6: Because he has done it, and he knows the level
- 12:44Speaker 6: of what it takes to, though.
- 12:45Speaker 2: So, you say you would never do it. What was
- 12:48Speaker 2: your first memory of football, or your first introduction to
- 12:53Speaker 2: football to get to the point to like now you
- 12:55Speaker 2: like I don't even I'm looking at myself like why
- 12:57Speaker 2: was I.
- 12:57Speaker 6: Doing it my first introduction damn that's a good good
- 13:01Speaker 6: question I think just being um growing up.
- 13:05Speaker 4: And um what we just used to call it like
- 13:07Speaker 4: throw up tackle.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Yeah throw up get tackled yeah.
- 13:10Speaker 6: But being a youngin and seeing it with the older
- 13:12Speaker 6: cats and you like oh I want to get in
- 13:14Speaker 6: on this and then you know you want to get
- 13:16Speaker 6: in and they like nah you too young so you
- 13:19Speaker 6: know you got all that built up anger in you
- 13:21Speaker 6: until you get that Right.
- 13:22Speaker 4: You get that chance to play with the young guys.
- 13:24Speaker 4: I mean, the older guys. Right.
- 13:27Speaker 1: And then when they start complimenting you, you're like.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Because you've got to have a mentality to play running back,
- 13:31Speaker 2: to play that position. Because it looks glorious when these
- 13:36Speaker 2: guys making people miss. Usually in high school, it's 26.
- 13:40Speaker 2: 27th sweet, 28th sweet.
- 13:41Speaker 1: We love it. Right, it's tall.
- 13:45Speaker 3: That's what they do in high school, yeah.
- 13:47Speaker 2: And they just use their speed to get outside.
- 13:49Speaker 6: I didn't play running back until my sophomore year in
- 13:51Speaker 6: high school, though. So I just always played, you know,
- 13:54Speaker 6: I always played offense, but I always played defense as well, too.

- 14:59Speaker 4: Pop Warner.
- 15:22Speaker 1: That's what we call it.
- 15:24Speaker 6: I grew up in, originally, so I first started playing
- 15:27Speaker 6: in Baltimore. It was Pop Warner because they don't even
- 15:29Speaker 6: have their first ball. It's high school ball.
- 15:33Speaker 1: There's no grass in Baltimore.
- 15:36Speaker 4: It is. It is.
- 15:36Speaker 6: It's not New York-ish, but it's definitely places from between
- 15:39Speaker 6: the city and the county.
- 15:40Speaker 2: It's still Maryland.
- 15:41Speaker 6: It's still Maryland, yeah. But yeah, it's Pop Warner. Yeah,
- 15:45Speaker 6: I played Pop Warner. I got my Pop Warner card,
- 15:46Speaker 6: like the... The little turning card. Well, I got a
- 15:48Speaker 6: picture of it. Yeah, I got a picture of it, but...
- 15:50Speaker 6: Were you always good, or did you... Like, he tells me,
- 15:54Speaker 6: and I guess I have to believe him, that he
- 15:56Speaker 6: was a late bloomer, right? Were you that guy, as
- 15:59Speaker 6: a kid, they go, that little motherfucker gonna be a pro?
- 16:03Speaker 4: Yes and no. Like, from a defensive standpoint, it was like, hey,
- 16:06Speaker 4: who is you? You know, like, okay, but.
- 16:11Speaker 4: Most of the time you get to showcase that on offense.
- 16:13Speaker 6: So I feel like that's where they like, oh, this motherfucker,
- 16:17Speaker 6: he's going to be nice. But I was definitely a
- 16:20Speaker 6: late bloomer, even from speed-wise and all that stuff.
- 16:23Speaker 5: But by your senior year, if you didn't go to Georgia,
- 16:28Speaker 5: who else was recruiting you?
- 16:30Speaker 1: You've got to be doing something.
- 16:32Speaker 4: No, I was doing good. But to that story as well, always....
- 16:37Speaker 6: Like, I've told this story plenty of times, but my
- 16:41Speaker 6: good friend, we went to Georgia together, but Keith Marshall,
- 16:44Speaker 6: he was the number one running back in North Carolina
- 16:46Speaker 6: at the time. So, thankfully, I grew up in North
- 16:49Speaker 6: Carolina pretty much late elementary, middle school, and high school.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Pretty much coaches used to go see him, and then
- 16:57Speaker 4: they used to be like, you need to go see
- 16:58Speaker 4: that guy Todd down the street. So that's kind of
- 17:01Speaker 4: how I got, like, you know, my notoriety.
- 17:04Speaker 2: So to go from North Carolina, because, you know, North
- 17:08Speaker 2: Carolina's basketball city.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Definitely basketball.
- 17:11Speaker 2: How in the hell did you get to Georgia? And obviously,
- 17:13Speaker 2: like I said, like they told everybody to go down
- 17:16Speaker 2: the street and see this guy. I know. What's his name? Kevin?
- 17:18Speaker 1: Keith.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Keith Marshall was like, and that's kind of like how
- 17:23Speaker 2: I got discovered on my high school team. They were recruiting,
- 17:27Speaker 2: UT Chattanooga was recruiting Derek Hall and then it was like,
- 17:30Speaker 2: you know.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Who was that?
- 17:31Speaker 2: This guy right here. I made a few plays here
- 17:33Speaker 2: and there. But like I said, we were on the
- 17:35Speaker 2: same team, but to have two top, like, running backs?
- 17:39Speaker 2: Were you guys rivals? Obviously, you guys knew each other.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Was there some sort of, like, friendly competition? And then
- 17:45Speaker 2: you get to Georgia.
- 17:47Speaker 6: Yeah, honestly, yeah, we, this was the beginning of Wi-Fi,
- 17:51Speaker 6: you know. You know, after AOL and stuff like that. So,
- 17:56Speaker 6: you know, that part was, yeah, the internet. It was accessible.
- 18:00Speaker 6: You know, you was able to, you know, the beginning
- 18:03Speaker 6: of social media and all that stuff, so.
- 18:06Speaker 4: Definitely knew of each other.
- 18:08Speaker 6: And then I feel like we met at like a
- 18:12Speaker 6: UNC game or something like that. And then he was
- 18:17Speaker 6: already getting pretty much getting recruited. I mean, he was
- 18:19Speaker 6: getting recruited since the ninth grade, you know. But we
- 18:23Speaker 6: ran track together too.
- 18:24Speaker 4: So that's kind of how we kind of really, you know,
- 18:28Speaker 4: became friends.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Was he faster than you?
- 18:30Speaker 4: Yeah, he was always faster than me.
- 18:32Speaker 1: So he was the guy you would go, he ain't
- 18:34Speaker 1: going to make it.
- 18:35Speaker 6: Yeah, they were saying that at probably like seventh grade.
- 18:38Speaker 6: But he was always fast. I've never seen a guy
- 18:41Speaker 6: tear ACL or have knee surgery and then just still
- 18:45Speaker 6: fast like every single time.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Damn. So what ever happened to Keith?
- 18:49Speaker 4: The knees. The knees. Yeah. He ended up getting drafted, though.
- 18:53Speaker 6: He got drafted by Washington, the Redskins, the Commanders now. But,
- 19:00Speaker 6: you know, they had a terrible situation going on with
- 19:02Speaker 6: them for a quite a while. I remember everybody was
- 19:05Speaker 6: getting hurt over there for years to come.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Kind of like the Niners.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Just bad on the ship just going on, yeah.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Like the Niners, I mean, luckily they're riding their ship
- 19:14Speaker 2: and they're winning football because otherwise they'd be talking about,
- 19:17Speaker 2: you know, all the electricity and stuff that they got
- 19:20Speaker 2: going on.
- 19:20Speaker 4: We had a good freshman year at Georgia. We was
- 19:22Speaker 4: like a good, you know, one-two combo.
- 19:23Speaker 2: One-two punch, yeah.
- 19:24Speaker 4: And then after that he kind of, you know, dealt
- 19:26Speaker 4: with a bunch of injuries.
- 19:29Speaker 1: You know.
- 19:30Speaker 6: It gets to everyone eventually, but sometimes people are earlier
- 19:34Speaker 6: than others for sure.
- 19:35Speaker 4: But that's still my man to this day, though. Yeah? Yeah.
- 19:38Speaker 3: So you go to Georgia.
- 19:39Speaker 2: There's been a number of great running backs to come
- 19:43Speaker 2: out of Georgia. Obviously, namely yourself, Herschel Walker. I played
- 19:49Speaker 2: with a guy in San Francisco in Garrison Hurst. And
- 19:54Speaker 2: there are some other running backs.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Yeah, Moshe Marino, Caleb King.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 19:59Speaker 6: So, yeah, when I got there, so they had. Obviously, Keith,
- 20:04Speaker 6: who was the number one in high school. And then
- 20:06Speaker 6: the year before that, they had the number one guy
- 20:08Speaker 6: as well. And Isaiah Crowell, he was from South Georgia.
- 20:11Speaker 6: And something ended up, you know, happening. He ended up
- 20:14Speaker 6: getting kicked off the team. So that automatically bumped, you know, everybody.
- 20:19Speaker 4: A spot up.
- 20:20Speaker 6: I don't know what, you know, just for content purposes.
- 20:24Speaker 6: I started off like number eighth on the death chart.
- 20:27Speaker 4: What? Yeah, I was....
- 20:30Speaker 2: How is that possible?
- 20:31Speaker 6: But I never really picked the school based on like, oh, no,
- 20:36Speaker 6: I never, obviously because they had all them guys.
- 20:38Speaker 4: Keith came in early too. He was an early graduate.
- 20:41Speaker 6: So I never really picked the school based off of
- 20:43Speaker 6: like where I would be. I just kind of focused
- 20:45Speaker 6: on myself and was just like, you know, if shit
- 20:48Speaker 6: work out, it's going.
- 20:49Speaker 4: To work out.
- 20:50Speaker 3: But you had a number of offers though.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I did.
- 20:52Speaker 6: I had, you know, most of the North Carolina schools,
- 20:55Speaker 6: like Minnesota was trying to get me, um.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Okay, Mary and Barbara went to Minnesota, right?
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Mary and Barbara.
- 21:01Speaker 4: Okay, I didn't even know that. I didn't even know
- 21:03Speaker 4: he was a beast. And then Auburn, Auburn was another one.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Okay, yeah.
- 21:07Speaker 4: And that was probably like a year or two after
- 21:09Speaker 4: the Cam Newton year. But you know, Auburn's super weird.
- 21:11Speaker 6: They like go to national championship and then they don't
- 21:14Speaker 6: compete for like four years and then they compete and
- 21:17Speaker 6: then they don't compete.
- 21:18Speaker 2: So that was part of your reason for going to Georgia?
- 21:20Speaker 2: Like they were competing for a championship.
- 21:22Speaker 6: It was that. Well, my visits were terrible. My visits
- 21:26Speaker 6: were the worst. every time I went to Georgia. But
- 21:30Speaker 6: I didn't base it off of, like, how my visits went.
- 21:34Speaker 6: It was all based on, like, All right, my business
- 21:37Speaker 6: wasn't that good, but I know I'm going to have fun.
- 21:39Speaker 6: They might have just paired me with the wrong people.
- 21:42Speaker 6: Just say you met a girl on a recruiting trip.
- 21:44Speaker 4: No, it was the food.
- 21:45Speaker 1: It really was the food, though. The food.
- 21:47Speaker 5: I'm going to start next year, and they tricked me
- 21:50Speaker 5: right on the trip.
- 21:51Speaker 3: I'm like, it's got to be something.
- 21:53Speaker 6: It was the food, but then also my running back coach.
- 21:55Speaker 6: My running back coach, he was just like super real,
- 21:57Speaker 6: super down to earth. He kept it real. He used
- 22:00Speaker 6: to tell us like, As soon as I go get
- 22:02Speaker 6: you guys, I'm going to try to go get somebody
- 22:04Speaker 6: better than you.
- 22:05Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying?
- 22:06Speaker 6: So it's like, but that's what you want to hear, too, though.
- 22:08Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? It's a challenge for you.
- 22:10Speaker 6: I always, like, even doing the whole recruiting part, like,
- 22:13Speaker 6: I never mess with, like, negative recruiting. And when I
- 22:16Speaker 6: mean negative recruiting, it's talking about someone else. Like, they
- 22:20Speaker 6: can talk about what you can do. Don't talk bad.
- 22:22Speaker 4: About the other school. Obviously, you ain't doing something right
- 22:26Speaker 4: if you got to. Bring their name up because they
- 22:28Speaker 4: ain't even bringing y'all name up.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Gotcha.
- 22:31Speaker 6: Like, that kind of always just told me about, like,
- 22:34Speaker 6: what was going on at that place.
- 22:35Speaker 4: I wanted to do Clemson for sure, but I don't know.
- 22:39Speaker 6: It was just something about Georgia. My running back coach,
- 22:41Speaker 6: Brian McLennan, he's the receiver coach now with Tampa. And
- 22:45Speaker 6: then Coach Rick was the head coach. And he was
- 22:48Speaker 6: the only coach that came to my hometown and visited me.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Okay. You know, went to church and all that stuff.
- 22:55Speaker 1: That stuff means something, huh?
- 22:57Speaker 4: Yeah, it do. It do. It do.
- 22:59Speaker 6: And then respect, it was a respect level. Like, other
- 23:01Speaker 6: people would just show up at your house and stuff
- 23:03Speaker 6: like that, which I thought was, like, super weird or just, like,
- 23:07Speaker 6: disrespectful as well, too.
- 23:09Speaker 2: So what did your mom or your dad have any
- 23:11Speaker 2: influence or, you know, give you any guidance of, like,
- 23:15Speaker 2: where to go, what they thought, or you just kind
- 23:17Speaker 2: of just relied on what you're telling us now?
- 23:20Speaker 4: The food.
- 23:20Speaker 1: The food.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Yeah, no, they, I mean, they never.
- 23:24Speaker 6: Like they never, you know how you got some parents
- 23:26Speaker 6: that's like, I want you to go here.
- 23:28Speaker 4: Like they already knew who they liked anyway.
- 23:31Speaker 6: But like my parents never, even my mom, like when
- 23:33Speaker 6: I was playing at the height, you know, the height
- 23:35Speaker 6: of my career, she's like, you know, you don't have
- 23:37Speaker 6: to play football or you don't have to do all
- 23:38Speaker 6: this stuff. So she never really like persuaded me or
- 23:43Speaker 6: convinced me. Like she always told me, you know, do
- 23:45Speaker 6: what I want to do or do what make me happy.
- 23:47Speaker 6: And that's how I tell the kids today, you know,
- 23:49Speaker 6: like a coach might call me like recruit. I'm like, bro,
- 23:51Speaker 6: you got the wrong person. Because I ain't going to
- 23:53Speaker 6: never tell a kid where to go. I'm going to
- 23:54Speaker 6: always tell them, like, do what's best for you, where
- 23:57Speaker 6: you want to go at. So I just kind of
- 24:00Speaker 6: prayed on it, you know. Same old stuff, prayed on it.
- 24:04Speaker 6: And I was like, all right, I'm going to Georgia.
- 24:06Speaker 6: And then, you know, I had called Clemson pretty much
- 24:08Speaker 6: just out of respect, like, hey, I'm going to go
- 24:12Speaker 6: to Georgia.
- 24:12Speaker 4: And then one of the coaches was like, yeah, they
- 24:14Speaker 4: say you're going to be playing linebacker. I was like.
- 24:16Speaker 6: Yeah, but I won't be playing linebacker at Clemson.
- 24:19Speaker 4: I'll be playing linebacker. You know what I'm saying?
- 24:20Speaker 6: So it was like, when I did that call, I
- 24:22Speaker 6: was like, yeah, I'm kind of glad I didn't go there.
- 24:25Speaker 1: By the way, y'all food nasty.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:26Speaker 6: Y'all don't even remember their food for real. I didn't
- 24:30Speaker 6: want to be like in a super, you know, obviously
- 24:33Speaker 6: Athens is a college town, but it's still, you know,
- 24:35Speaker 6: an hour, hour and a half away from Atlanta as well, too.
- 24:37Speaker 1: So.
- 24:38Speaker 6: Yeah, it was just something that just grew on me.
- 24:40Speaker 6: I knew nothing about Georgia. I knew nothing about Hershey Walker,
- 24:43Speaker 6: like at the beginning of the process. Yeah, like when
- 24:45Speaker 6: the coach called me, I was like, what? I don't
- 24:49Speaker 6: even know that.
- 24:49Speaker 4: Like, who is that?
- 24:50Speaker 6: It was like, that's the best running back in college
- 24:53Speaker 6: football ever. So I started learning the history.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Yeah, that's crazy.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Take us to draft day. When you first get drafted.
- 25:03Speaker 4: Draft day.
- 25:05Speaker 5: Did you go where you thought you were promised to go?
- 25:08Speaker 5: Or was it a complete surprise? Well, I knew all
- 25:11Speaker 5: that stuff, like the agents, everybody. I had to say, like,
- 25:14Speaker 5: they're everybody full of shit, think they know something. They
- 25:16Speaker 5: don't know nothing. They don't know shit. LSU was really
- 25:20Speaker 5: that guy. You know, like, quarterbacks, they need quarterbacks every year.
- 25:24Speaker 5: So if you like the top three quarterbacks, you probably
- 25:27Speaker 5: going to get drafted pretty high. But I had tore
- 25:30Speaker 5: my ACL my last game.
- 25:32Speaker 4: So I really, I mean, I.
- 25:33Speaker 6: Expected to go first, but maybe like late. But I
- 25:36Speaker 6: didn't expect to go Number 10. So I went to Chicago.
- 25:40Speaker 6: The draft was in Chicago. That was the first year
- 25:42Speaker 6: I think they left New York. And always was always
- 25:47Speaker 6: wanted to go to Chicago. Had, you know, the skyline
- 25:51Speaker 6: on my on my laptop or whatever. And it was
- 25:53Speaker 6: it was a good time.
- 25:54Speaker 4: But. You know, everybody's super uptight in the green room, bro.
- 25:58Speaker 4: It's like.
- 25:58Speaker 2: I don't know anything about that.
- 25:59Speaker 4: It's stressful. It's super stressful.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Yeah, share with us because I don't know.
- 26:03Speaker 4: It's actually... I don't know nothing about the green room.
- 26:04Speaker 2: I don't recommend it.
- 26:05Speaker 1: How many rounds did you get drafted?
- 26:06Speaker 3: I just dabbed in the fourth round.
- 26:07Speaker 4: I was like.
- 26:08Speaker 2: I was third round 89th pick. Oh, yeah. That's right.
- 26:12Speaker 1: You was at the crib.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:14Speaker 3: I was on campus at my coach's apartment.
- 26:17Speaker 4: It's best to do that. I wouldn't recommend because you've
- 26:19Speaker 4: got to do all this stuff.
- 26:20Speaker 1: That's a lot of pressure, too.
- 26:20Speaker 4: You don't really enjoy yourself. No, it's cool. I've always
- 26:24Speaker 4: been super chill.
- 26:24Speaker 5: No, I'm talking about there's the guys that go first round,
- 26:27Speaker 5: and they know they're going first. But then there's the
- 26:28Speaker 5: guys that are going first round, and they go to
- 26:30Speaker 5: this big-ass press conference.
- 26:31Speaker 4: Yeah, and then they've got to leave the next day.
- 26:33Speaker 4: It's like, come back tomorrow.
- 26:34Speaker 1: You can have the same seat.
- 26:35Speaker 2: They've got to go back tomorrow.
- 26:36Speaker 4: That happened. That happened.
- 26:37Speaker 6: But, no, I was just in there joking around, playing.
- 26:40Speaker 6: And then one of the homies called me, and it
- 26:42Speaker 6: was from a 4-4 number. So I think Atlanta had
- 26:45Speaker 6: like the eighth pick. I was like, oh, shit, like
- 26:47Speaker 6: I'm going to the Falcons.
- 26:49Speaker 4: Right. And it was the homies like, hey, what's on
- 26:51Speaker 4: the draft?
- 26:51Speaker 1: Ha!
- 26:53Speaker 4: I was like, get on my phone. He ain't mean
- 26:56Speaker 4: no harm, though.
- 26:57Speaker 6: He ain't mean no harm now that I think about it,
- 26:59Speaker 6: you know, all them years later. And then the Rams,
- 27:02Speaker 6: you know, my agent was like, I think the Rams
- 27:03Speaker 6: are going to pick you. And I'm like, I just
- 27:05Speaker 6: heard so many stories of like, teams saying they gonna
- 27:07Speaker 6: pick somebody and they never even pick them so I'm
- 27:10Speaker 6: like bro I'm chilling until and then I guess like
- 27:15Speaker 6: an hour later I got called and then I you
- 27:18Speaker 6: know I did all that talked to Dion seen the
- 27:21Speaker 6: commissioner and I was like damn I gotta do two
- 27:23Speaker 6: hours worth of interviews after this I was like hell
- 27:26Speaker 6: nah this some bullshit and I gotta get up at
- 27:28Speaker 6: four in the morning the next day to go fly
- 27:31Speaker 6: yeah good thing I was in Chicago and you know St.
- 27:33Speaker 6: Louis right down the road but I was like man
- 27:36Speaker 6: um But I had a good time though. It was
- 27:38Speaker 6: a good experience for me and my family. And I
- 27:41Speaker 6: don't know, I ain't never really like, I'm always pretty
- 27:45Speaker 6: easy going to be honest with you, bro. So from
- 27:47Speaker 6: like where I got drafted at, I would have been
- 27:51Speaker 6: grateful either way. You know, I would probably, I wouldn't
- 27:54Speaker 6: have been one of them guys either. Like I know
- 27:56Speaker 6: 62 people that got drafted before me. It's like, all right,
- 28:01Speaker 6: we'll just see what happens when we get to the
- 28:02Speaker 6: league for real.
- 28:04Speaker 2: So what were your expectations? Your rookie year.
- 28:08Speaker 1: I'm sure you know you superseded them.
- 28:10Speaker 6: I mean, my expectations, I knew we were sorry on offense.
- 28:15Speaker 6: I knew the defense was good, but I didn't know, like,
- 28:18Speaker 6: the defense was really that good because we had, like,
- 28:21Speaker 6: Chris Long, Robert Quinn.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Janoris Jenkins, Tremaine Johnson, Rodney McCloud. Had a bunch of
- 28:30Speaker 4: other guys. Aaron Donald had just won rookie of the
- 28:33Speaker 4: year the year before that. James Laurinaitis. who never really
- 28:37Speaker 4: kind of missed a game. I played with Ogletree at Georgia,
- 28:40Speaker 4: and he was there. They had Mark Barron. He came
- 28:41Speaker 4: from Tampa.
- 28:43Speaker 6: But shit, from offense-wise, you know, one of my favorite
- 28:45Speaker 6: players at college of all time, we had Tavon Austin.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Oh, the receiver, yeah.
- 28:50Speaker 4: And then we had, like, Kenny Britt. I didn't really
- 28:52Speaker 4: know too much about him. Wow, Tavon Austin.
- 28:54Speaker 5: He was nice.
- 28:55Speaker 4: And then we had just drafted, not drafted, but we
- 28:58Speaker 4: had Sam Bradford, but they had traded him for Nick Foles, so. Honestly,
- 29:04Speaker 4: I was just trying to work and get this knee
- 29:05Speaker 4: back right for real, for real. I wasn't really, like,
- 29:08Speaker 4: you know, worried about nothing.
- 29:10Speaker 6: I didn't know we was going to lose that damn much,
- 29:13Speaker 6: you know, just coming into the NFL because, you know, man,
- 29:18Speaker 6: you don't really win too much if you go into, like,
- 29:21Speaker 6: a losing team. So I probably lost more games in
- 29:23Speaker 6: my first year than I did in college and high.
- 29:27Speaker 4: School all combined.
- 29:28Speaker 6: So just from that mental standpoint, it was just like
- 29:30Speaker 6: a rollercoaster ride where it's like, Damn, I'm tired of losing.
- 29:34Speaker 2: So this is 2017, right?
- 29:36Speaker 6: 20 my rookie year 20 2015 2015 so you're.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Losing not a customer that especially being at georgia how
- 29:48Speaker 2: was the transition uh or just the mental part of
- 29:51Speaker 2: just dealing with that because Some players, that's a big
- 29:54Speaker 2: adjustment when you come from winning programs.
- 29:57Speaker 3: As you said, you go into a team like, oh, man, shit,
- 29:59Speaker 3: we're going to lose. But then, you know, you got
- 30:02Speaker 3: some great guys on defense.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Then you got to find some pieces on offense to
- 30:07Speaker 2: even just compete. So how was that mentally on you,
- 30:11Speaker 2: your rookie year? And then we'll fast forward to 2017
- 30:13Speaker 2: to where you have, I think, a breakout year.
- 30:17Speaker 4: Yeah, no, it was cool.
- 30:19Speaker 6: I mean, I ended up, like, my first game, I played,
- 30:23Speaker 6: I think I had like six carries for like nine yards. Then,
- 30:26Speaker 6: you know, you're watching the film, coach is like, see,
- 30:29Speaker 6: he could have had 100 yards if we would have
- 30:31Speaker 6: got this block. You know, I'm like, yeah, yeah, sure.
- 30:33Speaker 6: I mean, but, you know, rightfully so because it's the
- 30:37Speaker 6: ultimate team game.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Right, because you guys can't do what y'all do without
- 30:41Speaker 2: no holes. So that equates to like great line play.
- 30:45Speaker 6: Great line play and then being able to, have them
- 30:49Speaker 6: home run hits. You can't have them home run hits
- 30:52Speaker 6: if them receivers are not blocking downfield.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Right.
- 30:54Speaker 6: Like, so, I think just being able to deal with that,
- 30:57Speaker 6: but then having, like, good veterans on the team, too, which,
- 31:01Speaker 6: I mean, they was kind of used to, some was
- 31:04Speaker 6: used to winning, some was used to losing, so, really
- 31:06Speaker 6: just not taking stuff too serious, but then also, like,
- 31:09Speaker 6: just being grateful and thankful that, man, I get to
- 31:11Speaker 6: play football in the NFL, and not taking it, like,
- 31:14Speaker 6: too serious, you know, from, because that, it'll drive you crazy, but,
- 31:19Speaker 6: From a running back standpoint in our group, we was like, man,
- 31:22Speaker 6: as long as we take care of what we need
- 31:23Speaker 6: to take care of, assignments, you know, you're on the
- 31:28Speaker 6: right track, you know, you're not missing your blocking.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Take care of the ball, no turnovers.
- 31:32Speaker 6: That's all we need to worry about. Like, fuck trying
- 31:36Speaker 6: to be a superhero and do what everybody else does. Like,
- 31:39Speaker 6: if we did our thing in the running back room selfishly.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Like, we good.
- 31:44Speaker 6: We can't focus on no other group. because we're not
- 31:47Speaker 6: in the same position as those guys.
- 31:49Speaker 2: But being that you're like a focal point at this point,
- 31:53Speaker 2: did you not feel like now you're becoming like, you're two, three, four,
- 31:57Speaker 2: you're starting to understand the game, you're a part of
- 32:00Speaker 2: the offense.
- 32:01Speaker 3: You're essentially becoming a vet in a sense.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Did you not feel like you could say something to
- 32:09Speaker 2: certain guys or not from a negative standpoint or less,
- 32:12Speaker 2: hey guys, Because they're looking at the film, what you
- 32:17Speaker 2: just said, Coach, like, oh, shit, you had six carries
- 32:19Speaker 2: for nine yards. He would have got this block. He
- 32:22Speaker 2: would have got, shit, you would have had 100. Yeah.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Was there never a moment where you felt like, not
- 32:27Speaker 2: like I said in a negative way, but from a
- 32:28Speaker 2: team player standpoint that you could speak to the guy like, guys,
- 32:33Speaker 2: let's pick it up a notch. You know what I mean?
- 32:34Speaker 3: Because they're watching the same film that your coaches are watching.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Nah, I've never been like that person. Like a really cold,
- 32:41Speaker 4: cold person.
- 32:42Speaker 1: You weren't vocal?
- 32:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I was. But I've always, like, showed
- 32:46Speaker 4: by example. Well, let me tell you this.
- 32:48Speaker 6: I did say some shit after my second year, and
- 32:51Speaker 6: then after that, motherfuckers got fired. Because I was a
- 32:55Speaker 6: little frustrated. It was my second year. We was just terrible.
- 32:58Speaker 6: And I said, I'm like, bro, we look like we
- 32:59Speaker 6: got a middle school offense out here. Like, we ain't
- 33:02Speaker 6: scoring no points. We ain't scoring no touchdowns. So it
- 33:05Speaker 6: was just like.
- 33:06Speaker 4: And then, you know, coaches was gone that next day. Damn.
- 33:10Speaker 6: Which I kind of. I don't want to say it
- 33:12Speaker 6: wasn't definitely not my fault. It was just how we
- 33:15Speaker 6: was playing. But I kind of said something then. So
- 33:18Speaker 6: I was like, ah, shit, maybe I do got a
- 33:20Speaker 6: little bit more power than I think I have. But
- 33:26Speaker 6: I ain't never want to be that person too because
- 33:28Speaker 6: ain't nobody perfect. Because sometimes I can try to call
- 33:30Speaker 6: somebody out and the next thing I know I'm missing
- 33:32Speaker 6: a block or I'm not taking the right track as
- 33:34Speaker 6: well too. So I know how the game goes. And
- 33:38Speaker 6: for me, being like a, a starter and knowing I
- 33:41Speaker 6: would get more and more carries. That's why I never
- 33:43Speaker 6: really used to stress or press too much because I'm like,
- 33:46Speaker 6: I know I'm going to get the ball at least
- 33:47Speaker 6: 20 times. It's not like I'm a situational guy where
- 33:50Speaker 6: I got to, like, try to make something happen. And that,
- 33:53Speaker 6: you know, Frank Gore kind of taught me that early on, too.
- 33:55Speaker 6: It was like, yo, just be patient, young fella. Like,
- 33:58Speaker 6: let the game come to you. So, and I try
- 34:02Speaker 6: not to wear, like, my, you know, my emotions on,
- 34:04Speaker 6: you know, my heart on my sleeve or my, you know,
- 34:07Speaker 6: be too emotional. Just try to, be even keeled because
- 34:11Speaker 6: I know you can have a great game. You can
- 34:13Speaker 6: have a bad game. You can have a great season.
- 34:15Speaker 6: You can have a good season. So just trying to
- 34:17Speaker 6: be even keeled for real.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Right. So to go from net now, like you said,
- 34:21Speaker 2: great transition for, you know, you're saying having a great season.
- 34:25Speaker 3: 2017 opposite player of.
- 34:27Speaker 2: The year, second and MVP voting to now everybody thinks
- 34:33Speaker 2: the greatest of Tom Brady. So to experience like what
- 34:37Speaker 2: you did your rookie year, now you're telling them, okay,
- 34:39Speaker 2: Now you come a little bit more vocal. That veteran
- 34:42Speaker 2: leadership is starting to pop up. And then now, like
- 34:44Speaker 2: I said, Offensive Player of the Year, bro, that's huge.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Second in MVP voting, that's huge.
- 34:51Speaker 3: What clicked?
- 34:55Speaker 6: Coaching, just coaching. I think coaching, the culture, like everything.
- 35:00Speaker 6: We obviously, we moved from St. Louis to L.A. And
- 35:03Speaker 6: I think, you know, when McVay first came in, it
- 35:05Speaker 6: was just like, you know, a young kid. We ain't
- 35:09Speaker 6: really know too much. I think he was 30 when
- 35:11Speaker 6: he first got the head coaching job.
- 35:12Speaker 4: Yeah, very young.
- 35:13Speaker 6: We ain't really know too much, but I think as we,
- 35:16Speaker 6: the offseason, being there in the offseason, you know, buying in, like,
- 35:23Speaker 6: and seeing, like, everything he was implementing and then knowing, like,
- 35:27Speaker 6: all right, this motherfucker probably, this motherfucker probably know what
- 35:30Speaker 6: he talking about.
- 35:31Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 35:32Speaker 2: Right, right, right.
- 35:33Speaker 6: Once we got to the field. and actually started working,
- 35:37Speaker 6: we was like, oh, yeah, he know what he talking
- 35:38Speaker 6: about for real.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 35:40Speaker 6: And it was, like I said, we always had a
- 35:42Speaker 6: pretty good defense. It just was, but we couldn't even
- 35:45Speaker 6: put up 14 points, you know? So, just the plays
- 35:50Speaker 6: he was calling, it was just like, it was just
- 35:51Speaker 6: a fresher breath of air, honestly, bro, being able to
- 35:56Speaker 6: go out there. And then at that time, you know,
- 35:58Speaker 6: I never seen myself as like a receiving, you know,
- 36:00Speaker 6: receiving running back. I always enjoyed catching out the backfield, but,
- 36:04Speaker 6: you know, seeing guys that was around the league being
- 36:07Speaker 6: able to catch out the.
- 36:08Speaker 4: Backfield as well, too.
- 36:09Speaker 6: So I was like, yeah, why the hell would I take,
- 36:12Speaker 6: you know, get hit by 11 people when I could
- 36:14Speaker 6: just be one-on-one?
- 36:15Speaker 4: So being able to, like, you know, the screen game.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 36:19Speaker 4: Just, like, little flare-ups.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I was about to say, little flare-screens, little flare-outs.
- 36:23Speaker 4: Easy stuff like that.
- 36:24Speaker 6: And then, you know, obviously having a young guy, second-year
- 36:29Speaker 6: player in golf, like, that was always my thing.
- 36:32Speaker 4: Even with the team, it's like, yo, let's make sure
- 36:35Speaker 4: he don't have to worry about us. You know what
- 36:37Speaker 4: I'm saying?
- 36:38Speaker 6: Because he already got a lot on his plate being
- 36:40Speaker 6: a quarterback, and then being a young quarterback at that, like,
- 36:43Speaker 6: let's make sure we got our shit together. That way
- 36:46Speaker 6: he don't have to, you know, that's one less thing
- 36:48Speaker 6: he got to worry about.
- 36:49Speaker 4: Yeah, leave you at some pressure. Yeah, so, but the blocking,
- 36:51Speaker 4: the blocking was there.
- 36:52Speaker 6: Obviously, Andrew Whitworth was doing his thing, my boy John Selly,
- 36:57Speaker 6: and then never had a 1,000-yard season without my guy
- 37:00Speaker 6: Roger Saffo, so. It's always about the line. You know,
- 37:03Speaker 6: the running backs, we get the credit. Yeah, we do
- 37:05Speaker 6: our thing. But, you know, it is always about the
- 37:08Speaker 6: old linemen, though, for sure.
- 37:10Speaker 2: So you, that's how I get the point is, you
- 37:12Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 37:12Speaker 3: It's all about, you know, I can't do what I
- 37:14Speaker 3: do without you, Chris.
- 37:15Speaker 1: Don't make me cry in front of our company.
- 37:17Speaker 6: And then when you're sorry, you're like, fuck it, I'm sorry.
- 37:20Speaker 6: It's not the old line. But it's them two.
- 37:23Speaker 1: So, I'm just going to say it's obvious, but it
- 37:28Speaker 1: might not be to you.
- 37:29Speaker 4: Oh, definitely.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Your career was cut short.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 37:32Speaker 5: Do you think and wonder sometimes what if, you know
- 37:37Speaker 5: what I mean? I think of people like Grant Hill
- 37:39Speaker 5: and Penny Hardaway.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Brandon Roy.
- 37:41Speaker 1: Yes, like what if?
- 37:43Speaker 3: Amari Stoudemire.
- 37:44Speaker 6: No, because it's never enough to the people. If I
- 37:48Speaker 6: did three more years, they're going to say, oh, man,
- 37:51Speaker 6: you could have still been playing.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Right.
- 37:53Speaker 4: But I'm not even talking about for the people. I'm
- 37:55Speaker 4: talking about for yourself. Nah, for me.
- 37:57Speaker 5: You don't look out there and go, man, I could
- 37:59Speaker 5: have been, my name would be mentioned more. in the
- 38:02Speaker 5: annals of the greatest running backs?
- 38:05Speaker 4: Nah, because shit could have went the other way.
- 38:08Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 38:09Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 38:09Speaker 6: I never pursued it, but I enjoyed the time that
- 38:13Speaker 6: I had playing and enjoyed the process. So I never
- 38:20Speaker 6: really thought about the future. You know what I'm saying?
- 38:25Speaker 6: What could have been? My main point was would I
- 38:28Speaker 6: be happy whether I kept playing or would I be
- 38:30Speaker 6: happy if I didn't play? And to know, like, my
- 38:34Speaker 6: answer would have been the same and it's still the
- 38:36Speaker 6: same six years, almost six years later.
- 38:39Speaker 4: Like, I'm cool with that. I'm cool with that.
- 38:41Speaker 6: So being able to have that impact in such a
- 38:46Speaker 6: little amount of time. And then you got situations, too,
- 38:50Speaker 6: where a motherfucker played 10, 12 years but still not
- 38:55Speaker 6: able to accomplish what I was able to do in
- 38:57Speaker 6: six years.
- 38:58Speaker 2: And then....
- 39:01Speaker 6: You know that the head injury, like the body and
- 39:03Speaker 6: all that stuff, like that drink take a toll on
- 39:05Speaker 6: you for real.
- 39:06Speaker 4: So, um, yeah, no, I don't, I don't.
- 39:09Speaker 6: Really think about like what, what could have been and
- 39:11Speaker 6: stuff like that. I just kind of, you know, I
- 39:14Speaker 6: look at like my peers and stuff now and that's
- 39:16Speaker 6: still playing like the McCaffrey's, the, the eight, um, Kamar's,
- 39:20Speaker 6: the day Henry's. And I'll be like, yeah, them boys,
- 39:22Speaker 6: them boys doing that thing. And then to know that
- 39:25Speaker 6: I'm like, I was right there, you know, along that
- 39:28Speaker 6: ride with those guys as well. So, yeah, I don't
- 39:30Speaker 6: never really trip, man. I don't never really trip too
- 39:32Speaker 6: much about it. I only think about it when the
- 39:36Speaker 6: questions come up like this, honestly. Like, that's the only
- 39:39Speaker 6: time I really kind of like really process it and
- 39:42Speaker 6: think about it, honestly.
- 39:43Speaker 5: It seems like you have kind of the same mindset
- 39:44Speaker 5: as your mom, where, like, none of that shit matters.
- 39:50Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 39:51Speaker 1: And it's more about this moment.
- 39:52Speaker 6: It never, it never really does because it's like, we
- 39:56Speaker 6: can't name the first gladiator.
- 39:58Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying?
- 39:58Speaker 6: It's like, and we see it every year, like, the disrespect. Oh,
- 40:04Speaker 6: this best, this the best rookie since, this the best
- 40:07Speaker 6: rookie and then two years later we don't say shit
- 40:09Speaker 6: about him. Then two years later we don't say nothing
- 40:11Speaker 6: about him. It's just like, Then, you know, the compare
- 40:13Speaker 6: and contrast. You can't get caught up in the hype.
- 40:15Speaker 6: You can't get caught up in the hype. You know,
- 40:17Speaker 6: someone asked me, what's the difference between, you know, the
- 40:19Speaker 6: top ten backs in the league and the ones that's not?
- 40:21Speaker 4: I'm like, nothing shit. The ones that ain't, they're going
- 40:23Speaker 4: to eventually. It's all about opportunity as well, too.
- 40:26Speaker 6: It's all about opportunity. So, I mean, I know how this,
- 40:31Speaker 6: I know how the game is. I've always kind of
- 40:33Speaker 6: been like a historian. So, I never definitely, I ain't
- 40:37Speaker 6: want to play on too many teams either. I ain't
- 40:39Speaker 6: want to just be. And then I think, I ain't
- 40:41Speaker 6: going to lie, LA spoiled me too. So I'm like,
- 40:44Speaker 6: I'm like Buffalo.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Nah, I'm cool. All these like cold cities. I'm like, nah,
- 40:50Speaker 4: I'm good.
- 40:51Speaker 2: So when did you know it was really, it was
- 40:53Speaker 2: the end? Because some people know, and then some people
- 40:56Speaker 2: don't know. Some people like myself, I wanted to finish
- 40:59Speaker 2: on my own terms. I wasn't afforded the opportunity to
- 41:02Speaker 2: do that. So obviously, like I said, injuries may have
- 41:04Speaker 2: played a big part in that. But again, like I said,
- 41:08Speaker 2: he just asked you like, did you want to continue
- 41:10Speaker 2: to play? But you knew internally. And then, like I said,
- 41:13Speaker 2: your team know, like, you may have been injured more
- 41:16Speaker 2: so than the public knew.
- 41:17Speaker 6: Yeah, I've always been available to play. Like, one thing
- 41:21Speaker 6: that's been seen, like, you would have thought I missed, like,
- 41:23Speaker 6: two seasons. They, like, this thing always hurt you, injury problem. Like,
- 41:26Speaker 6: I'm always out there. I only probably miss, probably play, like, 80,
- 41:30Speaker 6: 85 games. I probably miss, like, five games. But I
- 41:36Speaker 6: knew I was done. I talked about it on previous podcasts,
- 41:40Speaker 6: but I pretty much knew I was done when I
- 41:42Speaker 6: got a chance to, you know, sign with the Ravens,
- 41:45Speaker 6: and I had to think about it. And I grew
- 41:47Speaker 6: up a Ravens fan, you know what I'm saying? Ed
- 41:49Speaker 6: Reed's my favorite player of all time. And then also
- 41:52Speaker 6: being able to have a chance to sign to Detroit
- 41:54Speaker 6: as well with golf being there as well. So when
- 41:57Speaker 6: I had to think about that, like when I had
- 42:00Speaker 6: to think about it, it was like, that's my answer
- 42:02Speaker 6: right there.
- 42:03Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? It was like.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Because it was like automatic.
- 42:05Speaker 3: It would have been immediate.
- 42:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I should have been ecstatic to be able to
- 42:08Speaker 6: play for my child. I should have just signed with
- 42:10Speaker 6: him and just never showed up.
- 42:11Speaker 4: Right.
- 42:11Speaker 6: With the fans probably would have pissed off. Yeah, but yeah,
- 42:16Speaker 6: that was pretty much the answer right there. And it
- 42:20Speaker 6: goes back to what I just said. It was like,
- 42:22Speaker 6: if I go out there, I'll ball out. What would
- 42:25Speaker 6: this do for me internally? I'm like, it wouldn't glorify
- 42:31Speaker 6: or satisfy me any more or none less. whether I
- 42:35Speaker 6: had a 1,000-yard season or whether I had 10 yards
- 42:38Speaker 6: that season. And then from just the injury standpoint, I'm like, bro,
- 42:41Speaker 6: I'm not going to keep going out there, you know,
- 42:43Speaker 6: messing up my body. Thankfully, I was only able to
- 42:46Speaker 6: have one surgery. So I'm like, and then I was
- 42:52Speaker 6: still in L.A.
- 42:52Speaker 4: You know.
- 42:53Speaker 6: The COVID year had happened that year before, too, so
- 42:56Speaker 6: that kind of like just shifted things just from my
- 42:58Speaker 6: perspective of like what's important.
- 42:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:01Speaker 6: And being able to, it just, you know, it slowed
- 43:03Speaker 6: everything down, right? Everybody was slowed down that year. So
- 43:06Speaker 6: just keeping my perspective and just keeping my attitude in
- 43:09Speaker 6: the right place, bro, I feel like that's always been
- 43:12Speaker 6: able to, like, carry me and just kept my sanity
- 43:14Speaker 6: for myself, for real.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Speaking of sanity, we got to ask this question.
- 43:22Speaker 2: What question?
- 43:25Speaker 1: How did the invitation... What's his name? Donald Trump.
- 43:29Speaker 4: Yeah, DT. He said DT.
- 43:34Speaker 5: Like you know him personally.
- 43:38Speaker 6: So originally, yeah, I was random as hell. He said DT.
- 43:44Speaker 1: The only DT I know is Derrick Thomas.
- 43:48Speaker 6: Nah, it was super random. You know, it happened probably
- 43:52Speaker 6: like a couple weeks ago. So originally we were supposed
- 43:54Speaker 6: to go, you said you went to the Georgia and
- 43:57Speaker 6: the Alabama game. So originally he was going to go
- 44:00Speaker 6: to that game, but you know it was like a
- 44:03Speaker 6: whole storm, whole hurricane going on that weekend.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a big storm.
- 44:07Speaker 6: So they didn't really kind of know. It ended up
- 44:09Speaker 6: passing by that same day. But yeah, originally I was
- 44:13Speaker 6: going to go to that game because they asked.
- 44:14Speaker 4: I'm like, all right, cool. I'm like, I was thinking,
- 44:17Speaker 4: I'm like, damn, that is the president. And I was like.
- 44:21Speaker 4: All right, that's cool.
- 44:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm like, shit, I go to a game, and
- 44:25Speaker 6: then they cancel, and then they gave me a couple
- 44:28Speaker 6: other dates, and I'm like, I thought about it. I'm like, man, shit,
- 44:31Speaker 6: I'm going. I'm going to the White House. I'm going
- 44:34Speaker 6: to get on Air Force One, and I'm like, man,
- 44:36Speaker 6: I went to Georgia. It's a rally all the time
- 44:39Speaker 6: at one of them games, but I ain't really, I
- 44:41Speaker 6: just wanted to go for myself and my experience. I
- 44:43Speaker 6: already knew what the internet and all that stuff was
- 44:45Speaker 6: going to do, so I wasn't really tripping. I know myself,
- 44:50Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying? I know I'm comfortable with myself,
- 44:53Speaker 6: so I don't really care about none of the noise,
- 44:56Speaker 6: for real, for real.
- 44:57Speaker 4: And I love the internet. You know, it's undefeated either way.
- 44:59Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 45:00Speaker 4: There's no winning. Yeah, I just went through with that experience,
- 45:02Speaker 4: and I was like, I'm going. You know what I'm saying?
- 45:08Speaker 2: So you went, and you're saying you're knowing there was
- 45:11Speaker 2: going to be a lot of backlash.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:13Speaker 2: So what did you hope to accomplish there? Was it
- 45:18Speaker 2: your fascination of being on Air Force One?
- 45:20Speaker 1: Qatar One, that's not.
- 45:21Speaker 6: Yeah, because they gifted it to him, right? No, I
- 45:24Speaker 6: didn't really think too much into it.
- 45:26Speaker 4: Oh, sorry.
- 45:26Speaker 6: As far as hoping to accomplish, it was more of
- 45:30Speaker 6: an experience for myself. Yeah, it was more of an experience.
- 45:32Speaker 2: So you never thought about the optics?
- 45:35Speaker 1: Nah.
- 45:36Speaker 4: I didn't care.
- 45:37Speaker 6: People are going to say what they got to say
- 45:39Speaker 6: either way. And I'm not even, like, I'm still not even,
- 45:43Speaker 6: and I ain't never been a big explainer, and I'm
- 45:45Speaker 6: still not going to really explain myself today either.
- 45:48Speaker 4: But, yeah, I went.
- 45:50Speaker 6: I wanted to go to the White House, never been
- 45:51Speaker 6: to the White House. And I'm like, fuck it, I'm
- 45:53Speaker 6: getting on the Air Force One as well, too.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Were you a fan of Trump before the phone call?
- 45:59Speaker 4: Nah.
- 46:02Speaker 6: Nah, I never really, never really, like, thought too much
- 46:04Speaker 6: into it. As you can tell, we swayed to the left.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Right, yeah, yeah.
- 46:11Speaker 5: And seeing all the destruction he's been doing to our culture.
- 46:13Speaker 5: I mean, as soon as he got there, he fired
- 46:15Speaker 5: like some of the.
- 46:17Speaker 2: A number of... A number of.
- 46:19Speaker 1: People in key positions.
- 46:21Speaker 2: And people of color.
- 46:22Speaker 5: Yeah, people of color in key positions. He basically has
- 46:25Speaker 5: done away with DEI. I mean, there's a list of
- 46:29Speaker 5: things that.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Stripped a lot of black historians from historical monuments and
- 46:37Speaker 2: stripped their names, things of that nature. And then also,
- 46:40Speaker 2: I think, I don't know how you grew up, but I,
- 46:44Speaker 2: and I would, I would think that me personally growing
- 46:47Speaker 2: up in a low income family, knowing how my mom struggled,
- 46:51Speaker 2: even now thinking about like high gas prices, high groceries,
- 46:55Speaker 2: things that directly impact and affect black community. And I would,
- 47:01Speaker 2: I would assume, or I think that you grew up
- 47:03Speaker 2: somewhat similar knowing that you played at Georgia, play professional football.
- 47:09Speaker 2: What do you think, or what do you say to
- 47:10Speaker 2: those kids that, Even myself included, we're looked at, we're
- 47:14Speaker 2: looked upon as like heroes to them. And the optics
- 47:17Speaker 2: of you, I'd like to say aligning yourself with somebody
- 47:21Speaker 2: like Donald Trump. Like, what do you think that that
- 47:23Speaker 2: looks and how those kids feel that look up to
- 47:26Speaker 2: us as heroes? And to what Chris was saying, like
- 47:29Speaker 2: he's done a lot. People say he's done a lot
- 47:31Speaker 2: of good for black people, but there's been a lot
- 47:34Speaker 2: of bad that he's done that has impacted our black community.
- 47:38Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure.
- 47:39Speaker 6: I mean, when you think about the kids, obviously, you know,
- 47:42Speaker 6: that's the future for sure. So being able to even
- 47:45Speaker 6: talk to different kids and be able to, like.
- 47:49Speaker 6: But also, too, in all reality, I only got the call,
- 47:53Speaker 6: and I'm only here today, too. Or people even know
- 47:56Speaker 6: me just because of fucking football.
- 47:58Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? I wouldn't be here talking
- 47:59Speaker 4: to y'all. I wouldn't have been on that... Wouldn't have
- 48:01Speaker 4: been on a plane.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Right.
- 48:03Speaker 4: Or people wouldn't even care if it wasn't for sports.
- 48:06Speaker 4: So that's another... false reality in.
- 48:09Speaker 6: Itself so that's why i always carry myself the way
- 48:12Speaker 6: i carry myself because i know it's a game bro
- 48:16Speaker 6: obviously it was just a game until you had guys
- 48:18Speaker 6: like tom brady right people like yourself lebron james where
- 48:23Speaker 6: they just took it right above and beyond but um
- 48:28Speaker 6: sometimes you still got to be able to have them
- 48:29Speaker 6: conversations you know from the other side because from my
- 48:32Speaker 6: standpoint of We see it all the time as well.
- 48:36Speaker 6: You go to the NFL, you're super happy. You get drafted,
- 48:39Speaker 6: you get the tattoo, you get the chain. And then
- 48:42Speaker 6: by the time you leave the NFL, it's after NFL.
- 48:45Speaker 6: But still being able to, like, I get what you're saying,
- 48:51Speaker 6: like the hatred out your heart and be able to
- 48:54Speaker 6: still work.
- 48:55Speaker 4: With those teams as well.
- 48:57Speaker 6: You're going to be better off getting stuff done, working
- 48:59Speaker 6: with the team, than just being completely against it. And
- 49:03Speaker 6: that's not saying about like what the Republican Party or whatever.
- 49:08Speaker 6: But for me, like I said, I ain't really know
- 49:12Speaker 6: no question about it. Like I wanted to go for myself.
- 49:14Speaker 6: And then sometimes you just got to you got to
- 49:17Speaker 6: go for the seed.
- 49:19Speaker 4: Like you got it. you gotta see stuff on your
- 49:21Speaker 4: own as well too.
- 49:21Speaker 5: Did you guys have any like real conversations about.
- 49:26Speaker 2: So how long was yeah how long was the ride
- 49:28Speaker 2: the plane ride and it wasn't.
- 49:29Speaker 6: Only the plane ride I went from D.C. to what's D.C.
- 49:33Speaker 6: to Georgia like an hour and a half D.C. to
- 49:36Speaker 6: Georgia and then Georgia to Florida which is like another
- 49:39Speaker 6: hour So.
- 49:41Speaker 2: So how was the food?
- 49:43Speaker 4: The food was, um, the food was.
- 49:45Speaker 6: Straight nigga was starving. I was definitely starving. The food
- 49:48Speaker 6: was straight. I don't, I don't eat, um, beef. So
- 49:51Speaker 6: I didn't eat like that. Like a little Chipotle bowl
- 49:53Speaker 6: up there, which that was cool, but I didn't eat
- 49:56Speaker 6: it cause it was beef. And then, uh, salad was,
- 49:58Speaker 6: the salad was busting for sure.
- 50:00Speaker 5: Did you guys, did he ask you about your feelings about, uh,
- 50:04Speaker 5: his first two years, um, the, the way the country
- 50:08Speaker 5: is going or, I mean, I know he thinks black
- 50:12Speaker 5: people all love him, but did he ask you, did
- 50:13Speaker 5: you guys talk about anything in depth?
- 50:15Speaker 6: No, we was talking about, obviously we was talking about
- 50:17Speaker 6: sports just in general. And then, you know, we kind
- 50:21Speaker 6: of had a couple of conversations about, you know, other
- 50:23Speaker 6: stuff as well.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Did you ever ask him why me?
- 50:26Speaker 4: I know why me.
- 50:29Speaker 3: Hold on, I want to hear this.
- 50:33Speaker 4: Athlete, like public figure. You know what I'm saying?
- 50:35Speaker 6: It's like, if I don't, you know, if I say yes,
- 50:38Speaker 6: if I say no, it's like you're going to get
- 50:40Speaker 6: somebody else either way.
- 50:41Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 50:41Speaker 4: Like, that's like self-explanatory.
- 50:44Speaker 2: Right.
- 50:45Speaker 5: Did you have any thoughts or inclinations that maybe my
- 50:51Speaker 5: visit with this guy, I can have a conversation with
- 50:53Speaker 5: him and sway him in any way, shape, or form?
- 50:57Speaker 4: Nah.
- 50:57Speaker 1: You weren't thinking that?
- 50:59Speaker 2: And then did you.
- 50:59Speaker 6: Ever feel like everything is a process as well too
- 51:02Speaker 6: so it's not like you know you might have a
- 51:05Speaker 6: meeting with someone or this is hypothetically speaking where it's
- 51:09Speaker 6: like you know you ain't gonna persuade nobody overnight you
- 51:12Speaker 6: know i'm saying it's it's also about like different like
- 51:15Speaker 6: steps right into things exactly so you know hopefully hopefully
- 51:19Speaker 6: and you know um yeah hopefully maybe that does you
- 51:24Speaker 6: know come together you know one of these days but
- 51:27Speaker 6: For me, it's like I know myself and I know
- 51:29Speaker 6: what I do for people and for other people, let alone,
- 51:34Speaker 6: most importantly, the youth. But that don't really matter in
- 51:37Speaker 6: this world.
- 51:39Speaker 4: Perception is reality.
- 51:41Speaker 6: So it's like you go on stage or you go
- 51:44Speaker 6: with a person that's disliked, then that's just how they're
- 51:49Speaker 6: going to see it. And if it was the other side,
- 51:51Speaker 6: it would be, you know, comments about that as well, too.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Your purpose for going, like you said, you went for
- 51:59Speaker 2: the experience. And I think what Chris was saying, too,
- 52:02Speaker 2: we're trying to get an understanding like, okay, you're a figure.
- 52:05Speaker 2: You have people that look up to you. Kids, family,
- 52:09Speaker 2: everybody else. Like you said, the optics, it doesn't look good.
- 52:11Speaker 2: So with you being in his presence, was there something
- 52:15Speaker 2: that you shared with him? Like you said, you're not
- 52:17Speaker 2: going to sway anybody overnight, but was there any type
- 52:20Speaker 2: of dialogue to where you were trying to get maybe
- 52:24Speaker 2: an understanding of maybe how he thinks, you know, toward
- 52:27Speaker 2: the black community or how he's running the country, things
- 52:30Speaker 2: of that nature.
- 52:31Speaker 6: I feel like we all, not all know that, but like,
- 52:35Speaker 6: you know, what you see is what you get. You
- 52:37Speaker 6: know what I'm saying? We've seen that over the last
- 52:40Speaker 6: couple of years. And that's just with anybody. You know,
- 52:43Speaker 6: if I'd known you for 10 years, I'm a, you know,
- 52:46Speaker 6: what you see is what you get. Um, type standpoint
- 52:50Speaker 6: and you don't know everybody either right from because we
- 52:53Speaker 6: think we know a lot of motherfuckers and they'd be
- 52:56Speaker 6: like we don't know what they doing so my my
- 52:59Speaker 6: biggest thing has always been like um focus focus on
- 53:02Speaker 6: yourself focus on your family and fixing fixing them issues
- 53:06Speaker 6: and then um you know you can you can bring
- 53:09Speaker 6: it towards the world as well too but some shit
- 53:13Speaker 6: some shit just ain't It ain't even worth explaining either.
- 53:17Speaker 2: So you basically did it for yourself regardless of what
- 53:19Speaker 2: the optics were.
- 53:20Speaker 4: Yeah, hell yeah. I'm a young kid.
- 53:22Speaker 6: I never thought in a million years I'd be able
- 53:25Speaker 6: to go to the White House, let alone, you know
- 53:27Speaker 6: what I'm saying, me to act the president as well.
- 53:29Speaker 4: Whether you like a motherfucker or you don't.
- 53:32Speaker 2: So you don't feel like there was other opportunities to
- 53:34Speaker 2: get to the White House than maybe accept an invitation through?
- 53:38Speaker 4: Could have, but who invited me?
- 53:41Speaker 2: I get, I get, true, true.
- 53:43Speaker 1: Question, did you feel the same way?
- 53:44Speaker 6: But it ain't like no big thing for me. It
- 53:45Speaker 6: was like, like I said, I'm, my ass is going
- 53:48Speaker 6: to be the same.
- 53:49Speaker 2: Right.
- 53:49Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying?
- 53:50Speaker 2: Do you feel any different now that you've done it?
- 53:53Speaker 2: Do you feel no regret, no nothing? Or would you
- 53:56Speaker 2: second guess if it was, now what you know, would
- 53:58Speaker 2: you do it again if he were to ask you?
- 54:00Speaker 4: Now what I know what?
- 54:01Speaker 6: I'm, I'm, I'm still going to make the same or
- 54:05Speaker 6: whatever decision that I, that I already made.
- 54:07Speaker 4: Okay. Like ain't nobody going.
- 54:08Speaker 2: No, no, that's fair. Yeah. That's why I was asking.
- 54:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:12Speaker 3: We don't want to feel like, you know.
- 54:14Speaker 2: We're pushing you.
- 54:15Speaker 4: Y'all good.
- 54:16Speaker 6: I mean, this is content. This is what y'all supposed
- 54:19Speaker 6: to do for me. Ask the questions for the people.
- 54:21Speaker 4: No, no. We was talking.
- 54:22Speaker 1: About Qatar one.
- 54:24Speaker 2: Yeah. We respect you.
- 54:25Speaker 3: And obviously I understand everything that you get there.
- 54:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:29Speaker 1: You see this fucking huge stairway to this big ass plane.
- 54:32Speaker 6: No, I was just more, that motherfucker was big as hell. Because,
- 54:36Speaker 6: you know, most of the time you go on a plane,
- 54:37Speaker 6: I mean, unless you're flying in a Burbank, you.
- 54:41Speaker 2: Know, you don't get it.
- 54:42Speaker 1: Shout out to JSEX.
- 54:43Speaker 6: Or just, it don't matter. Just, what, Hollywood or Bob
- 54:48Speaker 6: Hope Airport, you don't see the planes.
- 54:50Speaker 4: Most of the time, you're getting in on, you know,
- 54:52Speaker 4: the bridgeway.
- 54:53Speaker 2: The jetway.
- 54:54Speaker 4: The jetway. So, I was just like, God damn, this plane,
- 54:57Speaker 4: big as hell. Just.
- 54:59Speaker 6: And then, you know, I'm a photogenic person anyway, so
- 55:02Speaker 6: I'm like, I'm getting photos. Like, I'm taking some photos.
- 55:06Speaker 3: How's it sectioned off?
- 55:07Speaker 1: Is it like, there's a first class, and then there's
- 55:10Speaker 1: this office.
- 55:11Speaker 2: Will you guys sit next to each other?
- 55:13Speaker 4: Yeah, you got the plane. You got the plane. You got, like,
- 55:18Speaker 4: two floors. Two floors? Yeah, it's like two floors. Yeah, yeah,
- 55:21Speaker 4: that big-ass plane better have three, four floors.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Really?
- 55:25Speaker 4: But it's like half hotel suite and, like, half plane.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Shit.
- 55:28Speaker 6: Yeah, but it's like a fan of the Four Seasons
- 55:31Speaker 6: or something, like a suite or something like that.
- 55:33Speaker 2: Oh.
- 55:34Speaker 4: And then you got, like, the media crew. There's, like,
- 55:38Speaker 4: room for them. I think it's, like, 13 media people. It's, like,
- 55:42Speaker 4: a little section off. So you know the people that be, like,
- 55:45Speaker 4: at the bottom of the plane, like, Mr. President, Mr. President.
- 55:48Speaker 6: And then after, like, he gets on the plane, they
- 55:49Speaker 6: got to, like— Scramble. They got to run up before
- 55:51Speaker 6: they get their ass left because, you know, everybody move
- 55:54Speaker 6: as they go.
- 55:55Speaker 2: As he moves, right.
- 55:55Speaker 6: And, like, getting them in and out. The cool part,
- 55:59Speaker 6: I ain't gonna lie, was the Osprey. It's like a,
- 56:02Speaker 6: I think a Marines helicopter.
- 56:04Speaker 2: That's right.
- 56:05Speaker 4: You gotta like get in and like, should be hot
- 56:08Speaker 4: on there. Were you able to get in that first?
- 56:10Speaker 6: Nah, I got in there after. So we got in
- 56:13Speaker 6: there after. So we took the, took the, the plane,
- 56:18Speaker 6: took the helicopter.
- 56:19Speaker 1: From, where the plane landed to Georgia.
- 56:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yep.
- 56:23Speaker 6: So yeah, that joint, it really was crazy like, Everything
- 56:28Speaker 6: that goes into moving.
- 56:30Speaker 2: The president?
- 56:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:32Speaker 2: From one spot to another. Yeah, like the decoys.
- 56:36Speaker 4: Like the decoy helicopters.
- 56:37Speaker 2: I heard about that.
- 56:39Speaker 1: I heard about the decoy. Did you see? I don't
- 56:42Speaker 1: know if you guys saw it on Instagram. The dude,
- 56:44Speaker 1: there was a.
- 56:47Speaker 2: Catering, I think it was a catering truck.
- 56:48Speaker 1: There was a fake Trump that snuck out in a
- 56:51Speaker 1: catering truck.
- 56:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I saw that.
- 56:54Speaker 1: No, no. He went up there and Trump snuck out
- 56:55Speaker 1: in the catering truck.
- 56:56Speaker 6: Oh, but he was supposed to be like, I don't
- 56:58Speaker 6: know to that magnitude. I mean, all this is one day. So,
- 57:02Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying?
- 57:03Speaker 3: You were just taking it all in.
- 57:05Speaker 6: Taking it all in, but also just looking like, all right,
- 57:08Speaker 6: they got the, you know, them gray, like, bomber planes
- 57:14Speaker 6: as well, too, because you got to have them around.
- 57:16Speaker 4: Right.
- 57:17Speaker 6: And then you got all the Secret Service people, but
- 57:19Speaker 6: that's not even including, like, Highway Patrol that's blocking shit.
- 57:23Speaker 4: Off two, three miles.
- 57:24Speaker 6: And probably all types of snipers, all types of everywhere,
- 57:29Speaker 6: for real, for real. So I'm just like, yo, they
- 57:31Speaker 6: really got to move like this every single day.
- 57:34Speaker 4: But not only that, thinking about.
- 57:38Speaker 6: Everybody that's probably been a president.
- 57:40Speaker 4: Like, I'm sure Biden....
- 57:42Speaker 6: He probably not moving around to that magnitude, but he
- 57:44Speaker 6: still has to move around.
- 57:45Speaker 4: Yes. Obama. Yeah, so I'm like, yo, I'm like, this is.
- 57:50Speaker 2: Yeah, they have Secret Service for life.
- 57:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:53Speaker 1: But there's a difference after you retire.
- 57:55Speaker 5: So I was fortunate enough to play golf with 44
- 57:59Speaker 5: when he was president and when he wasn't. And so
- 58:01Speaker 5: the first time I played, it was... We played on
- 58:04Speaker 5: the golf course in Martha's Vineyard.
- 58:07Speaker 1: Ten flanking people.
- 58:10Speaker 4: Up north, right?
- 58:11Speaker 1: Martin's Vineyard near Cape Cod.
- 58:14Speaker 5: 10 in front, 10 behind us, two people in carts
- 58:18Speaker 5: here with machine guns on the finger. Like if they sneak,
- 58:22Speaker 5: it's an open space too, so it's probably super dangerous
- 58:27Speaker 5: to be in there. So these two 10 dudes are
- 58:30Speaker 5: walking down the fairway as we're hitting the ball up
- 58:32Speaker 5: the fairway and there's people behind us.
- 58:34Speaker 1: There was people everywhere. I hit my ball in the bushes.
- 58:37Speaker 4: I was looking for it. Secret Service came out.
- 58:39Speaker 1: And go, it's right there, young man, and walked away.
- 58:41Speaker 1: I was like, what the fuck was that?
- 58:43Speaker 4: He knew where the ball was. He was in the bushes.
- 58:48Speaker 4: He was in the bushes.
- 58:49Speaker 5: I was like, okay. And then the next time I went,
- 58:51Speaker 5: it was less. But now that it makes sense, it's like,
- 58:54Speaker 5: it's the president. What I'm just saying is, The following year,
- 59:00Speaker 5: it wasn't 200 people there.
- 59:02Speaker 1: It was 100.
- 59:02Speaker 4: He was active at the time? I'm saying he was active.
- 59:05Speaker 1: I played with him active and then non-active.
- 59:08Speaker 4: It was two different scenarios. I got you, I got you,
- 59:10Speaker 4: I got you. Oh shit, so yeah, you.
- 59:13Speaker 1: I've seen things.
- 59:13Speaker 5: I didn't get on the plane, I didn't get on
- 59:15Speaker 5: the plane.
- 59:16Speaker 4: I've seen things.
- 59:17Speaker 6: But the plane was cool, it was like the control
- 59:19Speaker 6: room and then obviously the cockpit.
- 59:22Speaker 2: So you took a tour. Yeah, yeah, I had.
- 59:24Speaker 4: To get on the tour.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Now who did you bring with you?
- 59:26Speaker 4: I was solo.
- 59:28Speaker 3: Did you have to go through some like background check
- 59:30Speaker 3: before you.
- 59:31Speaker 6: Nah you just fill out like a little form and
- 59:33Speaker 6: junk like that and then you just go through like
- 59:35Speaker 6: TSA once you get to the White House and then
- 59:37Speaker 6: could you have brought somebody yeah I probably could have
- 59:40Speaker 6: I probably.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Could have brought somebody yeah you didn't call me you.
- 59:42Speaker 6: Wouldn't have you know everybody's hitting me up like damn
- 59:45Speaker 6: like who I need to talk to.
- 59:47Speaker 2: Yeah man you could have hit me up I probably
- 59:49Speaker 2: wouldn't have gone.
- 59:51Speaker 6: But they do travel with a big staff though I
- 59:53Speaker 6: think like a staff of like a hundred I'm like
- 59:56Speaker 6: damn that's a lot of people.
- 59:58Speaker 1: You feel respected?
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: What you mean?
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Like everybody there was very respectful?
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: Yeah, everybody was respectful. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: So what was a.
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: But you know, they working too, so it's like.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:00:10Speaker 6: Oh, you be talking, but you ain't want to talk
- 1:00:12Speaker 6: too much because get these niggas in trouble today.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Because we know what's going to happen when you say something.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: People get fired.
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: I was watching another dude over there was eating some
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: crackers while he was in your briefing.
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: No, they chill. They waiting.
- 1:00:25Speaker 6: But, you know, when he's around, you know, they got,
- 1:00:28Speaker 6: they on work duties. And then it's, you know, it's militant. So, well,
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: they got different protocols of, you know, how they got
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: to stand and, you know, different procedures like that.
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: So, did you have an itinerary of what you were doing?
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: Yeah, they gave me a checkbook.
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: They gave me a checkbook of like, What you want
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: to do, what you didn't want to do.
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: Nah, it's like a checkbook of like the whole layout
- 1:00:48Speaker 6: of the schedule of like.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: This is what you were going to do.
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: Of like everything in a day. Like this is the
- 1:00:52Speaker 6: plane y'all getting on. This is the motorcade you getting on.
- 1:00:55Speaker 6: Like the transportation.
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: It's like.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: Did you know he was going to call you to
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: the stage?
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: All the way to the... You know, you know. Come on.
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: It's like, you know that was going to happen. Right.
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: You know that was going to happen.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: So did you know what you was going to say?
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: Was it rehearsed? Scripted?
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: I knew I wasn't going to say too much. I
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: knew I wasn't going to say too much. I knew
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: I was in Georgia.
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: I knew I was in Georgia, so I'm like, I'm
- 1:01:15Speaker 6: hitting a nigga with the go-dogs and... And just say
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: thank you. Thank you for the experience.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: So for me, it surprised me because I've known, we've
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: known each other. We have a mutual friend in Devon.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: Shout out Devon. But you've always been quiet and reserved
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: or whatever. So that's why it just kind of like,
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: I was surprised by it.
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: Yeah. Nah, I just knew I was going, you know,
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: he's going to hype you up.
- 1:01:38Speaker 6: You know, he's like, oh, that's a good looking fella
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: right there.
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: Come on up here. You know, come up here.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: He's a good looking guy.
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: For me, you know, just saying thank you. You know,
- 1:01:45Speaker 6: I ain't gonna lie, nigga, definitely want to say thank you, Mr.
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: President. But being able to just say thank you for
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: the experience. What did I say? Thank you for the experience.
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: Go Dawgs.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Yeah, go Dawgs.
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: Appreciate, you know, the state of Georgia. You said they've
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: always been there for you.
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: They come from Georgia.
- 1:02:05Speaker 6: Most people, that's where I made my name at, was
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: the state of Georgia as well, too. You said thank
- 1:02:10Speaker 6: you for what you've done for me. Yeah, something along
- 1:02:12Speaker 6: those lines.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: And then it was.
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: How many people y'all think was there? 300. Yeah. That's
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: what I was saying. I was like, damn it.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: It looked like, you said what it looked like? No, no, no.
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: I was asking them. Yeah. How many people you think?
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: It looked like it was thousands.
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: Thousands, yeah. No, it was like 300. So that's where
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: I was mostly, I was like, damn, these niggas be
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: doing all this for 300 people.
- 1:02:36Speaker 6: But it's part of the, it's part of the, it's
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: part of the, Persona. No, yeah, that runs in the
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: political party, I guess, right?
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: Yeah, so.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: What did your family think?
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: Oh, well, my family?
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: I was like, nigga, you met the president? Air Force One?
- 1:02:54Speaker 6: You know, you got different families. I mean, I only
- 1:02:56Speaker 6: talk to, you know, my immediate. I got different families
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: that I talk to as well.
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: Right, right, right, right. But, you know, everybody got their, like, own.
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: Opinions and different stuff like that as well, too, though. But, yeah,
- 1:03:07Speaker 6: my mom, she was like, you know, crying and shit.
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: She's like, God damn, my baby. Going to the White
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: House and shit like that. You know, she always, whatever
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: I do, I could, well, not whatever I do. But, yeah, moms,
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: you know, moms always going to support me no matter what.
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: And show hella love. Even my brothers and my sisters,
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying? They going to be that
- 1:03:29Speaker 6: same way as well, too. So, yeah, I always had
- 1:03:33Speaker 6: a good supporting cast. Even when I was playing, I
- 1:03:35Speaker 6: was never like, a stressful thing to me, you know,
- 1:03:38Speaker 6: when I was playing as well.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Is he asking more of you since the trip? Does
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: he want you to campaign for him?
- 1:03:44Speaker 6: Nah, I drank with just the other day. Nah, you
- 1:03:46Speaker 6: know how that drink is.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: You understood exactly what the mission was?
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:53Speaker 6: It's like, I mean, you see it, I'll say it
- 1:03:56Speaker 6: like this, and it's like, I would think grown folks
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: would know what the mission is.
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: Like, the kids and stuff, no.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: But it's like, I don't think all grown people know either.
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: You can't say all grown people.
- 1:04:13Speaker 6: Well, no, yeah, because everybody mind. I mean, me and
- 1:04:17Speaker 6: my boy, we had that conversation, you know, earlier.
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: Yeah, and I know you don't probably want to go
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: into it.
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: Well, mostly, I know what it is, though. It'd be the,
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: what's the joint called?
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: You know, the titles and stuff from online and stuff, too.
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: Like, Girly Goes MAGA or something like that.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: I've never seen that one yet.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Or just.
- 1:04:36Speaker 6: I mean, it's different platforms. So, you know, this shit entertainment, man.
- 1:04:42Speaker 6: That's all the junk is.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it is, but it ain't. But I think from, yeah,
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: that's how you see it. But I think from the
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: black community, it's not entertainment when we know what Trump means.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: And has done to the black community. That's how we
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: see it.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: You have your vision, like I said, not to deter you,
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: but that's how a lot of other people see it.
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: And like I said, Everybody has their own perspective and
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: their own point of views. And like I said, you're
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: your own person. You're your own man. And even just
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: sitting here today, that's how you've always been. So it
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: gives us and our viewers really a.
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: True understanding of why you went.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: And so is that does that satisfy everybody that's watching?
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: Maybe not, but they have a true understanding and a
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: look into who you are and what made you make
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: your decision.
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: And I can't do anything but but respect it.
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: And if he starts doing all this great shit for
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: black people, we're going to be like, that motherfucker Todd
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: Gurley did this.
- 1:05:38Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: That motherfucker could get coaches fired, black people hired.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: So what was your takeaway from the trip?
- 1:05:48Speaker 6: You know how when you go to a five-star hotel
- 1:05:53Speaker 6: for the first time and they got the.
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: You know, everything in there, the amenities. Shit that you've
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: never seen. You're like, ah, just take this just because.
- 1:06:03Speaker 6: Now, they had, like, these little peanut M & Ms,
- 1:06:06Speaker 6: but it's like, it just say, like, Air Force One
- 1:06:10Speaker 6: or President.
- 1:06:10Speaker 4: You got the, like, the different logos. So, just took, like,
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: a couple boxes.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: No, I meant your, yes, that's your takeaway. That's what
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: you took.
- 1:06:17Speaker 5: But I'm talking about from the whole experience.
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: It's still early. You got to think. What's today? Wednesday?
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Wednesday?
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: Or Tuesday? It's Tuesday. I just did it Saturday. So
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: I'm still processing.
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: So you're in the moment.
- 1:06:30Speaker 6: I'm still processing everything. And this is, you know, I
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: talk to a lot of good friends after. He's like, man,
- 1:06:36Speaker 6: take a moment to process everything. Technology free at that.
- 1:06:42Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying? Technology free. So it's only
- 1:06:45Speaker 6: been three days, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: 72 hours.
- 1:06:48Speaker 6: Yeah, 72 hours and still being able to, like, just
- 1:06:51Speaker 6: come on and talk about it.
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: We appreciate it, man.
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: No, for sure.
- 1:06:53Speaker 6: Because it ain't, whether I say right things, wrong things, like,
- 1:06:57Speaker 6: it ain't going to persuade me, persuade you, or however
- 1:07:00Speaker 6: we look or live our lives as well, too, so.
- 1:07:04Speaker 6: but yeah still processing it still processing it so you didn't.
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: Talk about the reparations or nothing for us no I.
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: Didn't I didn't get to that part you owe me
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: $ 20 you said it would you say you know you
- 1:07:13Speaker 5: gotta crawl before you can walk.
- 1:07:17Speaker 6: Maybe maybe man we'll see we'll see but um but
- 1:07:21Speaker 6: yeah definitely still definitely still processing everything though for sure though.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: Alright man we're gonna get into some fun stuff you
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: know what I mean I don't want you to feel
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: like that seat is getting hot.
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: Nah, bro. Ain't no pressure. Ain't no pressure. Ain't no
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: pressure because, yeah, I'm not ducking the smoke.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: I got you.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: So, yeah, you know me. I get your popcorn ready.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: So I have a good segment on here called Get
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: Your Popcorn Ready.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Fast answers.
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: I'm going to get some quick-heading questions I want to see.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: Get your answers right away. Right now, best running back
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: in football right now.
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: Right now?
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: Right now.
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: Kenneth Walker.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: Kansas City Chiefs. I told you.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that's my guy.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: Super Bowl MVP.
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: You said it right now.
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: And what you did last week. Yep. That nigga still
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: doing it. He been doing it every week. Right.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: Right. You talked about being a running back, you know,
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: obviously hitting. Basically, we want a position that hits every play.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: You know, it ain't in high school. Like I said,
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: you want a 26, 27 sweep. You're going outside. In
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: the pros, you have to go between the gaps. And,
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: you know, there are some linebackers and things of that nature,
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: hard-hitting safeties. What is one of the most feared defenders
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: in the league? in your career that you didn't really
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: want to, I ain't going to say want to match
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: up with, but there was, you know, maybe question going
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: in there. Like fear? That was on the other side,
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: like a defender.
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: And it may not be none.
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: Nah, not fear. Ain't nobody scared of nobody.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: Or you hated seeing. Is that a better question?
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: And for a running back, who is that person? Is
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: it usually the linebackers?
- 1:08:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: Unless you just got somebody that's like reckless, abandoned. They
- 1:09:03Speaker 6: just don't care about their body. Errol Thomas used to
- 1:09:06Speaker 6: be like that, but it's like 200 pounds. I'm not
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: too concerned, but he is still all fourth.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: Right, right, right.
- 1:09:17Speaker 6: Buda Baker was that. It still is that way. Still
- 1:09:20Speaker 6: on the ice, still playing. I mean, obviously, I played
- 1:09:23Speaker 6: against Bobby Wagner twice a year. I came in, thankfully.
- 1:09:28Speaker 6: Patrick Willis had retired that year before. Navarro Bowman.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: Bowman.
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: He was a big linebacker.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: He was a beast.
- 1:09:33Speaker 6: And I'm young, so I'm trying to pass the tech.
- 1:09:35Speaker 6: He loved that spin move. Super annoying guy. He's super annoying.
- 1:09:40Speaker 6: Annoying as hell. Luke Keekly.
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: Motherfucker just going to know all the plays.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: Like, no matter where you check at, you can be
- 1:09:47Speaker 6: trying to switch up your stance, look.
- 1:09:49Speaker 4: The other way. He know.
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: He already know what's coming.
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: He like, ball's coming right here. I'm like, God damn it.
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: It is. So, him. All right, cool.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: Yeah, them guys, them guys.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: Biggest trash talker?
- 1:10:03Speaker 6: When I was playing trash talker, who was, DJ Swearinger
- 1:10:09Speaker 6: was a big trash talker. He went to South Carolina,
- 1:10:11Speaker 6: and I think he was playing with Washington. Did Honey Badger? No,
- 1:10:16Speaker 6: not Honey Badger. I'm not even going to say the
- 1:10:18Speaker 6: other clown name, but. I ain't going to give him
- 1:10:22Speaker 6: no juice. No, I'm not giving him no juice at all. But, yeah,
- 1:10:25Speaker 6: he's still playing today. Give us his name.
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: Nope, I'm not giving him nothing.
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: All right, well, you've made a lot of money.
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: I didn't make nothing.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: Yeah, you did.
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: I'm broke. That's why you think I went. Negative.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: Negative.
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: I ain't got no money.
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: I'm out of money, y'all.
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: I lost it all.
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: No, you didn't.
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: I lost it all.
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: You were one of the first running backs to really
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: have some big payday. So what was one of your
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: two things, two questions? Your best purchase and your worst purchase.
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: Just my best purchase.
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: I mean, even from your signing bonus, you're being the
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: number 10 pick. Like, you know, we know what that
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: money's like.
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: I mean, I definitely probably had like a private investment
- 1:11:08Speaker 6: that probably failed for sure.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: That would be your worst purchase?
- 1:11:11Speaker 6: From a materialistic thing-wise, my worst purchase?
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: From your standards, I mean.
- 1:11:18Speaker 4: All right, damn, that's a good question. You get a
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: fat gold chain.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: That's not his era. Fat gold chain is my era.
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, I did.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: Get a chain.
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I got a chain. Yeah, I did get a chain.
- 1:11:29Speaker 4: I don't wear it as much.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: With your number on it?
- 1:11:31Speaker 6: No number, yeah. Nah, it was just a plain Cuban. Yeah,
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: I guess I still have it, but I don't really.
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: Wear it for real.
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: So that would be your worst? What would be your
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: best then?
- 1:11:40Speaker 6: My best purchases are my experiences, my travel experiences, being
- 1:11:46Speaker 6: able to just travel around the world, see different things,
- 1:11:48Speaker 6: go to different countries.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: All right, cool.
- 1:11:50Speaker 6: And then obviously, you know, the typical one, like being
- 1:11:54Speaker 6: thankful and grateful enough to be able to, you know,
- 1:11:57Speaker 6: to buy both of my parents' homes.
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: Homes, yeah, for sure.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: Gotcha.
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: That's definitely the best ones.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: I may already know this, and everybody watching me may
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: know this too.
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: Most famous person in your phone?
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: Probably Hov though. Jay-Z. Okay.
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: So you got him on speed dial? Okay, you can
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: call him up right now.
- 1:12:16Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, but that's my, I'm signed to that
- 1:12:19Speaker 6: agency coming out of college. So them always been, you
- 1:12:21Speaker 6: know what I'm saying?
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: Roc Nation, right?
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: Yeah, they always been family.
- 1:12:24Speaker 6: Even though I ain't been playing for six years, but
- 1:12:27Speaker 6: the love has always been there and they always, you know,
- 1:12:31Speaker 6: vice versa. I still show them, you know, loyalty and
- 1:12:33Speaker 6: love to the game and vice versa.
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: So, yeah.
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's funny you mention Roc Nation because a lot
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: of people were speculating and I had told some people
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: that you were coming on the show and they was like, man,
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: how did he get on the, how did that, you know.
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: Happen with DT?
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: They were like, and then everybody kind of backtracked and like, oh, well,
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: he was with Roc Nation. So they figured that was. Oh,
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: that's how they. Yeah. Hey, yo.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Yo, people trying to piece shit together, man.
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: You know what I mean?
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: They definitely be trying to piece something together. I was
- 1:13:01Speaker 6: just a friend. It was somebody, I wouldn't say a friend,
- 1:13:04Speaker 6: but it's somebody I knew.
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: In New York. And then they had like reached out
- 1:13:09Speaker 4: to like one of my people.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: But it wasn't like, it wasn't a rock nation thing though. Cool.
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: So again, okay.
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: Two more questions. There you go.
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: Jay-Z, you can't make it who you got.
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: Right. I got that girly dude.
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: He ain't doing shit today. Right. Okay.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: Um, are you a movie buff? You like, I love movies.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: So there was a movie about you. Who plays Todd
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: Gurley in a movie?
- 1:13:37Speaker 6: Like, one of them, like, idiotic actors. Like, they just funny. Like,
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: super funny. Always a clown in all the movies. Like
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: a Will Ferrell. Like, Will Ferrell. Or my favorite movie
- 1:13:51Speaker 6: is Superbad. So, either one of those guys. But they're going.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: To play Todd Gurley.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: You know Will Ferrell's white, right?
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: And so is the super bad guy. So who black
- 1:14:01Speaker 5: and funny is the autobiography about you?
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: Nigga, do you want my answer or not? What the fuck?
- 1:14:06Speaker 4: You trying to correct my answer. Like, are you going
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: to correct my answer? So don't ask me another question, dude,
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: because you're going to ask me a question now. I
- 1:14:18Speaker 4: can't answer it.
- 1:14:19Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: He ain't shaped like you.
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: I'm the host. I'm the guest. You're the host. You're right.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: Truth.
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: Truth.
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: All right. It's acting. They do a hell of a
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: job with it.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: They got AI.
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: They got AI now.
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: I was thinking Michael B. Jordan.
- 1:14:37Speaker 6: Nah, he said, like, my life and just how it is.
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: Okay, gotcha.
- 1:14:40Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, that's who I'm thinking of. Or you got, like,
- 1:14:43Speaker 6: my man Craig Robinson. He's super funny, though. Like, that
- 1:14:46Speaker 6: type of personality, you know what I'm saying, that kind
- 1:14:48Speaker 6: of plays those, like, roles in movies.
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: Okay, so they have to do a deep dive, deep
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: study of who you are and what you're about, all
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: that stuff.
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: Not just the athletic ability and.
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: Stuff like that.
- 1:14:58Speaker 6: Yeah, but that's, I don't know. Well, I wouldn't be
- 1:15:01Speaker 6: involved in a movie unless there's some paper involved, so.
- 1:15:05Speaker 6: You know, they got writers and producers for that junk.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: That's a good question, though.
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: Last question. If you had to choose today, would you
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: choose a healthy 2017 Todd Gurley, Offensive Player of the Year,
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: second in MVP voting to Tom Brady, first team All-Pro,
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: would you take that Todd Gurley or would you take
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: the bank account today? Which would you choose?
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: What, my bank account today?
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Yeah, even the payday of a running back today versus
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: going back and playing.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: With the accolades.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: The accolades and everything.
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: That successful season that you had in 2017. It was
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: pretty much a stellar season. Offensive player of the year,
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: second in MVP voting, first team All-Pro.
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: Would you choose that or would you take a big payday?
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: I don't know, shit, I got both, so I have. That's, like,
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: hard to answer the question.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: I guess he's trying to ask you which one felt better. Yeah,
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: that would be, yeah.
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: I don't think I really processed that either, though, that
- 1:16:17Speaker 4: whole season.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: How you play and then you go.
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: Right, yeah, because you know what, we as athletes, yeah,
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: when we grow up, you play football, like, yeah, what
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: comes with football is the financial... benefits of it but
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: then you can like I'm trying to take you.
- 1:16:33Speaker 6: Back yeah I know a lot of broke people that
- 1:16:35Speaker 6: got Super Bowls so yeah give me yeah give me
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: the payday yeah yeah give.
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: Me the payday yeah give me the payday yeah that's
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: what I'm trying to that's what I'm trying.
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: To give me the payday yeah give me the payday
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: you know all stuff.
- 1:16:47Speaker 5: Like that is Gilbert Arena he's always like y'all always
- 1:16:49Speaker 5: bragging about this ring and all that shit he's like
- 1:16:51Speaker 5: how often.
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: Do you look at the ring ain't nobody helping nobody.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: After that right.
- 1:16:56Speaker 6: They do the GoFundMe they Skipping right past it. So, yeah,
- 1:17:01Speaker 6: give me the bread and thankfully and hopefully not able
- 1:17:04Speaker 6: to mess it up.
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: This is Get to the W. The who, the what,
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: the why, and the last one is for the win.
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: Who can still tell Todd Gurley he's wrong and you
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: will listen?
- 1:17:16Speaker 6: Yeah, the people that I talk to and it's in
- 1:17:18Speaker 6: my contacts. I mean, y'all can tell me, too. Like,
- 1:17:21Speaker 6: people can tell me. Yeah, people can tell me. So yeah,
- 1:17:26Speaker 6: like my inner circle. But that don't have to be,
- 1:17:29Speaker 6: because it could just be a random person that I
- 1:17:33Speaker 6: could just be talking.
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: You're open.
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:17:36Speaker 6: It doesn't have to be specifically somebody. It could just be,
- 1:17:39Speaker 6: as long as the energy is right and it's like
- 1:17:41Speaker 6: we're having a conversation as grown people without the emotions
- 1:17:46Speaker 6: super evolved.
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: What did losing football teach you that winning didn't? Or
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: that winning never could?
- 1:17:54Speaker 6: You know what who's for you who's not all that
- 1:17:57Speaker 6: type of stuff yeah that that and just how I
- 1:18:00Speaker 6: how you respond to those losing situations I would say
- 1:18:04Speaker 6: because it's easy like peach.
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: And the cream when you win and everything is on.
- 1:18:08Speaker 6: Top so just far as like how others treat people
- 1:18:12Speaker 6: but then how you treat people and yeah and how
- 1:18:14Speaker 6: you get treated as well too yeah.
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: The why what matters to you now that didn't matter
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: at 23 and why did that.
- 1:18:22Speaker 6: Change I would say family. They always mattered, but I
- 1:18:28Speaker 6: wasn't there. I was there physically, but not mentally because
- 1:18:32Speaker 6: I'm always could be there for a game and we
- 1:18:36Speaker 6: lose a game. Now I'm mad or, you know what
- 1:18:38Speaker 6: I'm saying? You just focusing on your craft. So really,
- 1:18:42Speaker 6: really family and just living and appreciating every moment, which
- 1:18:48Speaker 6: I felt like I.
- 1:18:48Speaker 4: Always did a good job.
- 1:18:50Speaker 6: But it's even a bigger magnitude now, like traveling, making
- 1:18:56Speaker 6: the experiences, like that's the stuff that matter. And I
- 1:18:59Speaker 6: always kind of been like a people person, so seeing
- 1:19:02Speaker 6: like others happy as well too, for sure.
- 1:19:05Speaker 5: And for the win, you've had the money, fame, awards, experiences,
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: and things that only me, you, and T.O.
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: Have probably ever experienced. What does winning in life mean
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: to you now?
- 1:19:21Speaker 6: Just the small, like, steps of, like, progress. You know,
- 1:19:28Speaker 6: having those initial conversations, whether it's trying to get stuff done, like, obviously,
- 1:19:35Speaker 6: you know, the Rams and, like, I'll give you a, example,
- 1:19:38Speaker 6: like the Rams and the 49ers played in Australia, but
- 1:19:42Speaker 6: just prepping to go over there two, three years earlier
- 1:19:46Speaker 6: and just, like, setting up stuff that comes, you know,
- 1:19:50Speaker 6: that comes later. But honestly, really, man, successes for me is,
- 1:19:58Speaker 6: you know, obviously having my health, having my mental, you know,
- 1:20:02Speaker 6: sharp where I'm able to, make the right decisions, but
- 1:20:07Speaker 6: then also, like, being around my family, you know what
- 1:20:10Speaker 6: I'm saying? Like, holiday season, you know, visiting my grandma,
- 1:20:18Speaker 6: you know, my dad, like, still being able to appreciate
- 1:20:21Speaker 6: everybody that's still around, you know what I'm saying? And
- 1:20:24Speaker 6: then sometimes, you know, you don't see the family all
- 1:20:27Speaker 6: the time. Like, when I say the family, I'm saying, like,
- 1:20:30Speaker 6: you know, if it was, like, Thanksgiving where it's just, like,
- 1:20:33Speaker 6: everybody together, but, like, sadly is like enjoying that moment
- 1:20:38Speaker 6: at the time. And then you're like, the love is
- 1:20:40Speaker 6: always still there, you know, cause you can go a year,
- 1:20:44Speaker 6: couple of months without talking to somebody. And for me,
- 1:20:47Speaker 6: it's like, if we never talked to him, I think
- 1:20:50Speaker 6: we still good. Like, I still got, you know, still
- 1:20:53Speaker 6: got love for you. So from, from that standpoint, I
- 1:20:55Speaker 6: feel like that's, I don't know what the.
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: Question was originally, but, yeah, that's how I feel, though,
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: for real.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: That's great.
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: Okay, Ty, you know a thing about getting the ball
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: into the end zone.
- 1:21:06Speaker 4: Yes, sir. Pretty good at it.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: Yeah. You're in the red zone. You got four downs
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: to get the ball into the end zone. So I
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: got four questions for you. First down, what NFL moment
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: would you relive one more time? Let's see if we
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: can get you in the end zone.
- 1:21:23Speaker 6: Shit, Greg Zerline making that kick. For me, though, yeah,
- 1:21:27Speaker 6: it would be somebody else. It would be Greg Zerline
- 1:21:29Speaker 6: making that kick to get us to the Super Bowl.
- 1:21:32Speaker 6: I know we didn't win it, and cool, I got there. But, yeah, like,
- 1:21:35Speaker 6: to be able to go to a Super Bowl, like,
- 1:21:37Speaker 6: I thought that was pretty cool.
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: All right, second down. You ain't in there just yet.
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: What is something you wish you had done differently?
- 1:21:46Speaker 6: Probably been more vocal. When I say vocal, like, get
- 1:21:51Speaker 6: your ass in there and give me the ball. You
- 1:21:53Speaker 6: know what I'm saying? Or going to talk to coaches more.
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: You know how I get more like him?
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: In between. In between. Pause. In between, yeah.
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: God damn. Shots fired.
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:22:07Speaker 6: They don't know if you don't tell them.
- 1:22:09Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? They don't know if you
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: don't tell them.
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: Exactly. Third down. We're going to give you third down.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: What do people misunderstand about Todd Gurley?
- 1:22:19Speaker 6: I don't know. Well, shit, now, I don't know.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: Maybe that may be something, yeah, I mean.
- 1:22:31Speaker 4: Oh, why the hell I stopped playing football?
- 1:22:33Speaker 6: Like, shit. Yeah, why I stopped playing football? I mean,
- 1:22:36Speaker 6: obviously my knee, but then also, like. You know, they're like, nah,
- 1:22:40Speaker 6: that can't be it. You still got to... It's like, man,
- 1:22:43Speaker 6: it don't matter what you say.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Especially when they look at you physically. They're like, yo,
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: you look perfect.
- 1:22:49Speaker 6: But then I tell them that, I'm like, bro, you
- 1:22:51Speaker 6: know if I would have been done by now, I
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: would have been on like year 12. And they're like, oh, snaps.
- 1:22:55Speaker 6: But it's because they probably know me from like the
- 1:22:59Speaker 6: start of my career too. Yeah, I guess they just
- 1:23:05Speaker 6: want to know why. I mean, I told them plenty
- 1:23:07Speaker 6: of times why they just.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: They didn't want to accept it.
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: That is very true. That is very true.
- 1:23:13Speaker 6: And then the standpoint is like, bro, we've been playing
- 1:23:15Speaker 6: since we was– Little kids, yeah.
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: Literally, Pop Warner. So it's like– I didn't play Pop Warner.
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: That's like 20-something.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: You played Pop Warner? No. I didn't play– I didn't
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: start playing really until like junior– like offensively, like high school,
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: junior varsity. Yeah. I played junior high, but I was
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: on the defensive side of the ball. I played defensive end.
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: Junior high, that's just seventh and eighth? Yep. 7th and
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: 8th grade. See, that's how I was. It's always defense and,
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying?
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: And he was a hooper, too.
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I played, yep.
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: Were you a hooper, too?
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: Man, funny story. I tried to quit football. Well, I
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: did quit football my freshman year to focus on basketball.
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: But, yeah.
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: I ended up coming back out and playing, though, like
- 1:23:57Speaker 4: halfway through the season.
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: Great decision. Great decision.
- 1:24:00Speaker 4: I definitely made a quick decision. Fourth down.
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: We about to give it to you.
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: Just take it on into the end zone, Todd.
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: The question is... But Ty Gurley, what's next?
- 1:24:11Speaker 6: Still, just still living life. Still, you know, one of
- 1:24:15Speaker 6: my goals is always to travel pretty much every country.
- 1:24:18Speaker 6: Before it's all said and done, I want to be,
- 1:24:20Speaker 6: put my foot on everywhere around the world. travel, keep traveling.
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what that, that's what those big paychecks, they'll
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: do for you.
- 1:24:29Speaker 6: But that, but then strategically being able to do it
- 1:24:31Speaker 6: too as they grow the game globally.
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: Right. Being able to be.
- 1:24:38Speaker 6: The player that we was being able to use that
- 1:24:41Speaker 6: and then also as they go to these other markets
- 1:24:44Speaker 6: like strategically being able to partner with with different countries
- 1:24:48Speaker 6: um do business over there yeah and do business over
- 1:24:51Speaker 6: there take the influence but then you know once i
- 1:24:54Speaker 6: i go to a place so many times like when
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: i get that love you know i've been to hawaii
- 1:25:00Speaker 6: the last four years and Like, after I go so
- 1:25:03Speaker 6: many times, I feel like I got to do something
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: for the people over there, you know, philanthropy-wise. So, you know,
- 1:25:09Speaker 6: a couple of curriculums coming up, you know, through the foundation,
- 1:25:13Speaker 6: May Foundation, making a difference every day. Keep living life.
- 1:25:18Speaker 6: Keep being a sports junkie. You know, keep people, you know, laughing.
- 1:25:25Speaker 6: Keep myself in good health. Still, you know, keep working out.
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: Keep eating good.
- 1:25:31Speaker 6: Keep enjoying the fruits of my labor and just keep
- 1:25:36Speaker 6: building and growing as a man. And then, you know, obviously,
- 1:25:42Speaker 6: you know, connection with your significant other and growing into
- 1:25:46Speaker 6: that as well. And then just keep being a good
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: dad as well. So there's so much, man. But I'm
- 1:25:53Speaker 6: probably like a free spirit, so I don't think too
- 1:25:56Speaker 6: much ahead in the future, but always... You know, planting
- 1:26:00Speaker 6: little seeds here and there and just wanting more and not,
- 1:26:05Speaker 6: you know, getting too comfortable and complacent, which can be
- 1:26:10Speaker 6: a hard thing to do. But I try not to
- 1:26:13Speaker 6: be in my head too much because, you know, as humans,
- 1:26:16Speaker 6: I feel like we always want more for ourselves. But
- 1:26:19Speaker 6: then also, as you know, once you get done, what's next?
- 1:26:23Speaker 4: What's next?
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:26:25Speaker 4: Thankfully and gratefully, I don't got to do nothing. God
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: damn it. Because, you know what I'm saying? I already
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: won the lottery. I don't need to hit it again.
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: Let everybody know where they can find you, what you
