- 1:44Speaker 1: better from the Fighting City of Philadelphia. Home with the

- 1:52Speaker 1: their odds. Mr Simon Hunter, Yeah, you know me chat
- 1:57Speaker 1: East Coaster for life, can't can can't be saved for you? Right?
- 2:01Speaker 1: I think you're looking West Coast? What's going on there, dude? Listen.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I was in Los Angeles last week, had a great
- 2:08Speaker 1: few days, and I uh spent some time all day
- 2:12Speaker 1: Friday the Action Network team. A lot of folks were there,
- 2:15Speaker 1: you know, Sean Kerner, Chris Raybon, Uh, they live out there.
- 2:19Speaker 1: We had some Action Network NFL brainstorming. Everybody should be
- 2:24Speaker 1: listening to the Action Network NFL podcast at this point
- 2:28Speaker 1: because it's ridiculously smart. You'll hear Kerner, You'll hear Raybon,
- 2:32Speaker 1: you'll hear Stucky, and we were talking about a lot
- 2:36Speaker 1: of ideas. And then that night we went to so
- 2:40Speaker 1: Far So the Rams play the Texans, and of course,
- 2:45Speaker 1: like the total in the game, I think it opened
- 2:47Speaker 1: at thirty eight, and then there were three points in
- 2:50Speaker 1: the first eight minutes, so everyone started betting the under
- 2:54Speaker 1: thirty one. And then of course there were ten points
- 2:57Speaker 1: in the final ninety seconds of the first half. Uh,
- 3:01Speaker 1: so it started making everyone sweat. The night before was
- 3:04Speaker 1: that Seahawks Bears game, and there was an Action Network
- 3:07Speaker 1: party and uh, there's a great gift now of Raybon
- 3:12Speaker 1: uh collapsing after the Seahawks did not score because he
- 3:16Speaker 1: had the under thirty eight in that game. It's sweating time.
- 3:20Speaker 1: It's summer, but it's already sweating time for the NFL season.
- 3:25Speaker 1: It's the best, like just sweating preseason games chat. It's
- 3:28Speaker 1: it's the ultimate appetizer before the main meal. We're about
- 3:30Speaker 1: the half it is, so listen. In a few minutes
- 3:33Speaker 1: are volume PUBA. Colin Cowherd is gonna come on. He's
- 3:37Speaker 1: gonna tell us everything he thinks he knows about the
- 3:41Speaker 1: NFC West, and we are going to try to make
- 3:44Speaker 1: him change his mind, because the guy doesn't really know
- 3:47Speaker 1: that much. Yeah, I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm
- 3:50Speaker 1: gonna be generationally wealthy. It's up to us to make
- 3:55Speaker 1: him look better throughout the course of the year. He's
- 3:57Speaker 1: trying to run a major media empire here. We can't
- 4:00Speaker 1: make him look foolish. We're gonna talk about the NFC West.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I just saw the Los Angeles Rams. Obviously, the Rams
- 4:07Speaker 1: who are the defending Super Bowl champions with Matthew Stafford,
- 4:12Speaker 1: with Sean McVeigh, with Aaron Donald, with Jalen Ramsey, with
- 4:16Speaker 1: Cooper cup cam Acres not the team to beat in
- 4:21Speaker 1: the NFC because that's still the Temp Bay Buccaneers according
- 4:23Speaker 1: to the odds, but they are at plus one to
- 4:29Speaker 1: win the NFC West. We're not going to make our
- 4:32Speaker 1: picks yet, but I will say, unlike last year, the
- 4:37Speaker 1: Rams and more interesting to me than the Niners, who
- 4:40Speaker 1: are a plus one. Last year, I loved, loved the Niners. Yeah, definitely,
- 4:48Speaker 1: definitely a different vibe. Right coming to this season, we
- 4:50Speaker 1: had our doubts with Matthew Stafford, a guy who had
- 4:53Speaker 1: been losing his whole career, and we kind of realized
- 4:56Speaker 1: maybe that was more of a Detroit Lions problem than
- 4:58Speaker 1: it wasn't Matthew Stafford problem him because he made major
- 5:01Speaker 1: clutch throws and huge spots that whole playoff run. Again,
- 5:05Speaker 1: Brady had his back against the wall. People forget that game.
- 5:08Speaker 1: They blew whatever that was. Ten lead. Brady came all
- 5:11Speaker 1: the way back and he made Matthew Stafford the big
- 5:13Speaker 1: throws to get that win. Again. They were down against
- 5:16Speaker 1: the four ninears ten points in the fourth quarter. He
- 5:18Speaker 1: came back and they won the NFC Championship game. Once
- 5:21Speaker 1: the Super Bowl. Again, down a touchdown in the fourth
- 5:24Speaker 1: quarter or down four points, he went down the field
- 5:26Speaker 1: squarter touchdown. So you know, I'd love to love to
- 5:29Speaker 1: doubt the Rams and be like last year is a
- 5:31Speaker 1: little flukey, and you know it won't be as easy
- 5:33Speaker 1: this year with a tough division. But it's hard to
- 5:36Speaker 1: really doubt the Rams right there, the cream of the
- 5:37Speaker 1: crop right now. For anything. They they're gonna be better
- 5:40Speaker 1: than they were last year in the sense that they
- 5:42Speaker 1: have the confidence now, they have the belief And we
- 5:45Speaker 1: talked about it with Ross about the believing in your quarterback.
- 5:48Speaker 1: That's a huge advantage to certain teams. If you're the Rams,
- 5:51Speaker 1: you gotta be feeling good, right, I mean, you have
- 5:53Speaker 1: the ultimate belief in your quarterback. The only pause, as
- 5:56Speaker 1: we already here Stafford's getting injections in his throwing arm.
- 5:59Speaker 1: You want to be here in that mid August right,
- 6:01Speaker 1: like pause, A little little worriesothing like I was all
- 6:04Speaker 1: in on them to win this division. Now I'm a
- 6:06Speaker 1: little hesitant. I don't know if I'm gonna keep betting
- 6:08Speaker 1: them to win this division, just in the sense that
- 6:10Speaker 1: that's that's not good. Okay the coach coach came out
- 6:14Speaker 1: and talked about that it's not that big of a deal.
- 6:15Speaker 1: But Stafford himself, he said, yeah, I'm not gonna lie.
- 6:18Speaker 1: I have had injections in my elbow because it doesn't
- 6:20Speaker 1: feel right. So that's something you need a monitor before
- 6:22Speaker 1: you start to play some big bets on this Rams team. Yeah.
- 6:25Speaker 1: You mentioned Ross Tucker who we had on the podcast.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I can't remember now if it was Ross Tucker or
- 6:32Speaker 1: Jordan Palmer who basically broke it down. Your belief in
- 6:36Speaker 1: your quarterback is is into three categories. It can be
- 6:42Speaker 1: divided into three categories. You you know you can win,
- 6:49Speaker 1: you think you can win, You hope you can win.
- 6:54Speaker 1: The Rams are in a no you can win scenario
- 6:59Speaker 1: with Matthew Stafford. Can't be the same set for the
- 7:02Speaker 1: rest of this division, right the the Seahawks, you can't
- 7:06Speaker 1: even be in uh no think hope category. The Niners
- 7:12Speaker 1: and Cardinals are really fascinating. Like I said, Nineers plus one,
- 7:17Speaker 1: Cardinals plus three fifty? Um, what are wise guys saying
- 7:24Speaker 1: about the Niners right now? With Trey Lance as we've
- 7:27Speaker 1: gone into we've seen some preseason performances. I think the
- 7:31Speaker 1: wise guys are looking at it like the rest of us,
- 7:33Speaker 1: Where did you get the value on Trey Lance? Did
- 7:35Speaker 1: you bet Trey Lance in February March to win Offensive
- 7:39Speaker 1: Player of the Year and m v P just because
- 7:41Speaker 1: Jimmy g was still on the roster and still thought
- 7:43Speaker 1: to be the starter. That's where the value was. Now
- 7:45Speaker 1: you know we're here, are in August. Trey Lance has
- 7:47Speaker 1: had moments, right, We've seen him in the preseason have
- 7:50Speaker 1: some big throws and you can see why they were
- 7:52Speaker 1: able to they're saying, Okay, we all move on from
- 7:54Speaker 1: Jimmy because we know what Jimmy is, right, Jimmy is
- 7:56Speaker 1: a great quarterback, but he's the guy that you can count.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Is he a top fifteen guy? Probably not right. Jimmy's
- 8:03Speaker 1: just another guy. So to me, I like to move.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I like to move the tray. I like what I've
- 8:08Speaker 1: seen from Tray Lance. Can I get behind him over
- 8:10Speaker 1: the Cardinals? I don't know Cardinals. I kind of know
- 8:13Speaker 1: what they are. I don't really know what I'm getting
- 8:15Speaker 1: here in the Sporting Niners team, And we've seen in
- 8:16Speaker 1: the history of Shanahan they're an updown team. Every year
- 8:20Speaker 1: they peak, right, they make a Super Bowl, they make
- 8:22Speaker 1: an m C Championship game, and they completely fall off
- 8:25Speaker 1: the following season. Usually it's because of the quarterback injury,
- 8:27Speaker 1: but there's usually other reasons affect into that. So a
- 8:30Speaker 1: lot of question marks with this forty Niners team. And
- 8:32Speaker 1: I touch on a little bit of this Cardinals team.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I just don't think people like him right now, Like
- 8:36Speaker 1: the pros don't really like him either. The public doesn't
- 8:38Speaker 1: seem to care about him. I mean, that's pretty crazy.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Their plus three win this division, and they were a
- 8:43Speaker 1: quarter away, a quarter away from winning this division last
- 8:46Speaker 1: year and they lost it at the very end of
- 8:48Speaker 1: the season, So that that's kind of crazy. I didn't
- 8:50Speaker 1: know that number gone up that high. I guess it's
- 8:53Speaker 1: just moved because of the Tray Lance. You know, preseason games.
- 8:55Speaker 1: He just looked really good this preseason. Yeah, I think
- 9:00Speaker 1: people have started getting really excited about Trey Lance. I
- 9:05Speaker 1: feel like last year, the odds for the Niners to
- 9:10Speaker 1: win the division, we're not that much further off than
- 9:15Speaker 1: what they are right now. The Rams were the favorites,
- 9:19Speaker 1: but the Niners coming off the season they had had
- 9:22Speaker 1: um with Jimmy g a quarterback, like people were expecting
- 9:29Speaker 1: big things from that. So the fact that people are
- 9:33Speaker 1: feeling what they feel about Trey Lance, I'm a seller here.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I'll be honest, Like, I'm never a believer when I
- 9:43Speaker 1: see great things happening in the preseason. I'm not a
- 9:47Speaker 1: believer in a second year quarterback who really hasn't played
- 9:52Speaker 1: at the highest levels of competition yet. Um. I don't
- 9:56Speaker 1: like the Cardinals either, in Kyler Murray, I hate Cliff Kingsbury. Uh.
- 10:01Speaker 1: But I'm not a buyer, like I've always been a
- 10:03Speaker 1: buyer on the Niners. Yeah, not a buyer on the Niners.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I think it's the a lot of pros are looking
- 10:10Speaker 1: at as the RG three factor. Right, we saw Shannahan
- 10:12Speaker 1: with RG three squeeze every inch of talent out of
- 10:16Speaker 1: that kid, and he used him up, and he used
- 10:19Speaker 1: it in the wrong way. Right, the kid was never
- 10:21Speaker 1: the same RG three, Like that knee injury crippled his career. There,
- 10:24Speaker 1: Lance is a clean body. This kid has got no injuries.
- 10:27Speaker 1: He's he's good to go. He's got the weapons, he's
- 10:30Speaker 1: got the tools, he's got the arm, the speed, everything.
- 10:32Speaker 1: So like when I think about it, I think, Okay,
- 10:34Speaker 1: Shanahan and who I argue all the time, is the
- 10:36Speaker 1: top five offensive mine in this league. If this kid
- 10:39Speaker 1: can be legit and put it together, that's that's an
- 10:41Speaker 1: incredible upside of a team with the four niners. It's
- 10:45Speaker 1: what Chad's saying though, it's like you've got nothing a
- 10:47Speaker 1: base of off. We just have nothing to see of
- 10:49Speaker 1: Trey Lance. Where I watched his game film last year,
- 10:52Speaker 1: he was a deer headlights. Like, honestly, Shanahan barely opened
- 10:55Speaker 1: up the offensive playbook because that's how much he didn't
- 10:57Speaker 1: trust him. So the fact that Chan's back on me,
- 11:00Speaker 1: who knows, Maybe that's just because he's on the edge
- 11:02Speaker 1: right now because he gave away three first round picks.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Clearly they've staked their claim and saying, you know what,
- 11:07Speaker 1: you don't care about the Jimmy, the Jimmy drama. Jimmy
- 11:09Speaker 1: is not our quarterback. It's Trey Lance, and Jimmy has
- 11:11Speaker 1: just been sitting at home this whole time. Why is it?
- 11:15Speaker 1: Why is it okay to gamble on a lot of
- 11:22Speaker 1: what we're saying, we would gamble on decisions that are
- 11:29Speaker 1: the exact that that that have the same factors. Is
- 11:34Speaker 1: it the price? Is it the quarterback? Like? What are
- 11:38Speaker 1: we what's keeping us from making the decision to place
- 11:41Speaker 1: the bet on this team right now? I would say
- 11:43Speaker 1: surprised personally. Um, I've had a good run here waiting
- 11:48Speaker 1: out this team, Like last year that was a beauty.
- 11:51Speaker 1: We just waited it out. If you would have bet
- 11:53Speaker 1: them before the season, I believe they are fifteen to
- 11:55Speaker 1: one or eighteen to one to win the Super Bowl.
- 11:58Speaker 1: We did nothing. We didn't tire your money up. We
- 11:59Speaker 1: just wait did all the way until January. We got
- 12:01Speaker 1: them at one to make the Super Bowl. So this
- 12:05Speaker 1: four howne team we've just seen historically. They just kind
- 12:09Speaker 1: of have injuries throughout the season and two key guys
- 12:11Speaker 1: and they just don't put it together. Like what were
- 12:13Speaker 1: they last year? Nine and eight, ten and seven, and
- 12:16Speaker 1: they literally had one I think they're they lost their
- 12:18Speaker 1: final game, I'm pretty sure, but they had won whatever
- 12:20Speaker 1: it was five or sixth straight to get into the playoffs.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Maybe they did when their final game. I just remember
- 12:25Speaker 1: they had crazy momentum heading to the playoffs. And that's
- 12:27Speaker 1: what I'm looking for this team where it's like, I
- 12:29Speaker 1: think they're got a lot of speed bumps, Like Chad's
- 12:31Speaker 1: talking about Trey Lance, but man if Shanehan could figure
- 12:35Speaker 1: it out with this kid's talent, there's no holes in
- 12:37Speaker 1: this team. They got arguably the best pass rusher and
- 12:40Speaker 1: Nick Bosa, and they got one of the best linebackers
- 12:42Speaker 1: they'll play football and Fred Warner, it's like their defense
- 12:45Speaker 1: is set. We know the offensive scheme. So I guess
- 12:47Speaker 1: to me, the pros that have been betting this, it's
- 12:50Speaker 1: like the new toy, right, They've already won the money.
- 12:52Speaker 1: All last year we talked about the pros were all
- 12:54Speaker 1: over the Rams last year. They're just not on them.
- 12:56Speaker 1: This year. They're more on the new toy of Trey
- 12:58Speaker 1: Lance and this four downers team. Here's a question that
- 13:01Speaker 1: it would be a great one to ask Colin, which
- 13:04Speaker 1: will do as soon as he comes on in a
- 13:06Speaker 1: couple of minutes. You and I are both huge Kyle
- 13:10Speaker 1: Shanahan fans, and last year when we were talking about
- 13:13Speaker 1: the Rams and the Niners and all the wise guys
- 13:15Speaker 1: like the Rams. Credit to the wise guys. I love
- 13:19Speaker 1: the Niners because I thought Kyle Shanahan was a better
- 13:24Speaker 1: play caller and better at coaching up his team we
- 13:27Speaker 1: had seen in the past. He'll be playing second and
- 13:30Speaker 1: third stringers, and this team is playing it close and
- 13:33Speaker 1: winning games or losing games very closely. To me, that's
- 13:37Speaker 1: the sign of a great coach right now. McVeigh has
- 13:40Speaker 1: been to two Super Bowls in five years, won one,
- 13:43Speaker 1: lost one, clearly learned a lot from what he had lost. Uh,
- 13:48Speaker 1: made the heart choices to get rid of Jared goff Am.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I not giving Sean McVeigh enough credit. Is he a
- 13:56Speaker 1: better coach than Kyle Shanahan? What do you think? Yeah? Uh,
- 14:00Speaker 1: I mean I just say yes, I have. I have
- 14:03Speaker 1: more time to think about it during this offseason, just
- 14:06Speaker 1: because of you know how I feel about McVeigh that
- 14:09Speaker 1: I do think he is incredible and really smart, but
- 14:11Speaker 1: he does really dumb stuff at end of games, like
- 14:13Speaker 1: he gets tight and that was kind of the knock
- 14:15Speaker 1: on Shanahan. But the difference in McVeigh is he did
- 14:19Speaker 1: it right. He won the Super Bowl, where every time
- 14:21Speaker 1: Shanahan's gotten close. Again, I just talked about they're up
- 14:24Speaker 1: ten points in the fourth quarter with the ball with
- 14:26Speaker 1: Jimmy g and I don't want to put it on Shaneahan,
- 14:29Speaker 1: but he's calling the place and like that's what happened
- 14:31Speaker 1: with Matt Ryan. We could all put on that Ryan
- 14:33Speaker 1: choking away that Falcons game. I mean that was on
- 14:35Speaker 1: the coach, right. He played pre event offense. He was
- 14:38Speaker 1: just trying to waste the clock away and Tom Brady
- 14:40Speaker 1: was able to tire out that defense and bring it back.
- 14:42Speaker 1: So Shannon and to me, has all the question marks
- 14:45Speaker 1: right now. This guy is an offensive genius. He puts
- 14:48Speaker 1: his plays in the best position. But when it comes
- 14:51Speaker 1: to the crunch time in the fourth quarter again, I
- 14:53Speaker 1: even talk about him blowing that lead to the Chiefs
- 14:54Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl, it's just time and time again.
- 14:57Speaker 1: He gets his team there and then all of a
- 14:58Speaker 1: sudden he loses it in the fourth quarter or So
- 15:00Speaker 1: that's why I'm just excited with the Trey Lands thing.
- 15:02Speaker 1: It's just like, no more excuses, right, Like, this is it.
- 15:04Speaker 1: You got your quarterback you wanted no more. You got
- 15:08Speaker 1: your guy, you got your team, you got your players
- 15:12Speaker 1: on defense. You've got your receiver running back in Deebo
- 15:15Speaker 1: Samuel Will happy and locked in. You've got the quarterback
- 15:18Speaker 1: that you traded up to get who can do everything
- 15:21Speaker 1: that allows you to call every play that you want
- 15:23Speaker 1: to call. Kyle Shanahan's gotta prove it. He's got to
- 15:27Speaker 1: prove it in the next couple of years. He's got
- 15:28Speaker 1: to prove that he can be the great coach that
- 15:31Speaker 1: everyone believes he can be. We're gonna bring in Colin
- 15:35Speaker 1: right now. I think that's the first question we're gonna
- 15:37Speaker 1: pose to Colin. Who's the best coach in this division?
- 15:41Speaker 1: Kyle Shanahan or Sean McVeigh. Kick off Week one with

- 17:25Speaker 1: eight nine eight nine, or visit one eight hundred gambler
- 17:29Speaker 1: dot net in West Virginia. Alright, as promised, the grand
- 17:35Speaker 1: puba of the Volume podcast Network. Colin Cowherd, First question,
- 17:41Speaker 1: Here's what Simon and I have been debating, NFC West.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Best coach in the NFC West, Sean McVeigh, Kyle Shanahan.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Who's better? Well? Why this is my theory on this.
- 17:56Speaker 1: So three guys came out of Washington, McVeigh, Shanahan, and
- 18:01Speaker 1: the flour So McVeigh is the best culture builder. He's
- 18:08Speaker 1: good looking, it looks like an athlete. Athletes by indo him.
- 18:12Speaker 1: He's incredible in front of a room. He builds cultures.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Shanahan's the smartest of all three, and if you ask
- 18:19Speaker 1: them privately, they will tell you Kyle is the smart one.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Dad's a Hall of Fame level coach. He has a
- 18:25Speaker 1: real scheme that is duplicated throughout the league. McVeigh doesn't
- 18:29Speaker 1: because people can't duplicate Mcveigh's alpha, right. Mcveigh's literally Amazon
- 18:36Speaker 1: was gonna pay him twenty five million year of cock football.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Kyle wouldn't be that interesting. So mcveigh's the culture builder,
- 18:43Speaker 1: Shanahan's the genius, and the flour's caught in the middle.
- 18:47Speaker 1: He's not as good as McVeigh culture builder. He saw spoken.
- 18:50Speaker 1: He's not the genius of Shanahan. And my arguments always
- 18:53Speaker 1: been all he's done is beat up on a increasingly
- 18:56Speaker 1: bad NFC North. What where's I've watched the Packers melt
- 19:01Speaker 1: down the last two years in the playoffs in the
- 19:03Speaker 1: fourth quarter at home. I don't see any genius there.
- 19:06Speaker 1: You got Aaron Rodgers, you know. So if you're asking
- 19:09Speaker 1: me who's the better coach, Shanahan schematically is a better
- 19:12Speaker 1: coach than John McVeigh. And if you gave him Stafford
- 19:17Speaker 1: and you gave McVeigh, Jimmy Garoppolo would be really obvious.
- 19:21Speaker 1: But I think Shanahan is our Bill Walsh. I think
- 19:25Speaker 1: he is viewed as the most intelligent coach, But there
- 19:29Speaker 1: is huge value in culture building. I think McVeigh has
- 19:33Speaker 1: got a Tomlin feel to him. Tomlin feels like a
- 19:36Speaker 1: player like like Mike. Do we think Mike schematically brilliant? No,
- 19:42Speaker 1: but that that team plays hard in the preseason, like
- 19:46Speaker 1: they have an attitude the Rams are really they've kind
- 19:50Speaker 1: of cool, like kind of unflappable, kind of McVeigh. So
- 19:54Speaker 1: it's not a good answer. But if you're asking me
- 19:57Speaker 1: the greatest schematic coaches ever, we'd probably oh, Lombardi, Walsh,
- 20:03Speaker 1: Peyton Belichick. I think Shanahan fits into that. He just
- 20:07Speaker 1: doesn't have the ring as yet, but I think he's
- 20:08Speaker 1: a g I think he's a football genius. So that
- 20:11Speaker 1: that's interesting, right because last year, go back to last
- 20:14Speaker 1: year the Niners in the Rams, there's a lot of
- 20:17Speaker 1: talk about which one of these two teams will win
- 20:20Speaker 1: the division, which one of these two teams should be
- 20:22Speaker 1: the favorite to win the NFC along with the Bucks, Packers, etcetera.
- 20:27Speaker 1: A lot of wise guys liked the Rams because of
- 20:30Speaker 1: the addition to Matthew Stafford. I was poo pooing that
- 20:34Speaker 1: because I felt like Kyle Shanahan. You know, they used
- 20:37Speaker 1: to say that, the saying that Bump Phillips used to
- 20:41Speaker 1: have about Chuck nol. I think it was right. Chuck
- 20:44Speaker 1: Nole can take his twist, take his eleven and beat you,
- 20:47Speaker 1: and take your eleven and then beat you again, right
- 20:50Speaker 1: like he was such a good coach, it didn't matter.
- 20:52Speaker 1: That's what I feel about Shanahan. But all of a sudden,
- 20:55Speaker 1: because McVeigh has the ring, he feels like he's vaulted ahead.
- 21:00Speaker 1: He's combined the culture and the scheme and been spart
- 21:02Speaker 1: enough to bring people in whose schemes he can follow.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Now we got the rams plus and the to win
- 21:09Speaker 1: the division and the forty nine plus one seventy very
- 21:13Speaker 1: short odds shorter than they had last year. I think
- 21:16Speaker 1: with Jimmy g and Trey Lance, Simon, tell Colin your
- 21:20Speaker 1: thoughts on this. I mean, looking at this line right now,
- 21:23Speaker 1: I think the pros I told you, I think they're
- 21:25Speaker 1: all over the forty niners. The upsides higher with the
- 21:27Speaker 1: four niners. And since that Trey Lance reminds them of
- 21:30Speaker 1: the exact plane stop RG three, And we know what
- 21:32Speaker 1: shanahand did with RG three. He took that talent and
- 21:35Speaker 1: took it to the highest level RG three could ever
- 21:36Speaker 1: possibly reach. Right, I mean that was electric the whole
- 21:40Speaker 1: country was taken over by that Washington football team when
- 21:42Speaker 1: r G three took over that offense, and they're banking
- 21:44Speaker 1: on the same idea with Trey Lance. This kid is
- 21:48Speaker 1: incredible outside the pocket, huge arm, and a high level
- 21:52Speaker 1: of intelligence, right, no turnovers. His last year playing in college,
- 21:55Speaker 1: the man had zero interceptions. So when I think of
- 21:58Speaker 1: what the pros looking at with the Trey Lance thing,
- 22:02Speaker 1: it's the second year bump, right, It's the Mahomes and
- 22:04Speaker 1: his second year took his team away to the a
- 22:06Speaker 1: f C Championship game. It's Lamar in his second year
- 22:08Speaker 1: when m VP. That's what they're betting on. So when
- 22:11Speaker 1: I'm looking at the best valueless division, yeah, I would
- 22:14Speaker 1: say that the pros and makes sense why they're on
- 22:16Speaker 1: this fourt niners team where me, I'm looking at kind
- 22:18Speaker 1: of boring where I just think this Rams team just complete,
- 22:21Speaker 1: Like I see no step back from what they did
- 22:23Speaker 1: last year, and I just believe in Stafford and McVeigh.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I know what I'm getting here, And I think the
- 22:28Speaker 1: numbers right like that that that a plus number plus
- 22:30Speaker 1: one ten, plus one twenty, that's a fair value bet
- 22:33Speaker 1: in the hardest division of football, arguably, so to me.
- 22:36Speaker 1: You know, I take that number with the Rams just
- 22:38Speaker 1: in the sense that this is to me the most
- 22:40Speaker 1: competitive team in this division where I have too many
- 22:42Speaker 1: questions still with this four Niners team at the QB position,
- 22:45Speaker 1: you know the other thing where I like both the
- 22:48Speaker 1: Rams and the Niners. So Tampa's interior old line has
- 22:53Speaker 1: fallen apart. ALAMR. Pett was a top five guard gone,
- 22:57Speaker 1: Ryan Jensen top five center gone. Now the backup got her,
- 23:01Speaker 1: and the Packers no longer have Davante Adams. So it
- 23:05Speaker 1: feels like to me, Brady will be able to throw
- 23:08Speaker 1: on play action, but on straight drops against the Rams
- 23:12Speaker 1: and Aaron Donald it will be a problem. On straight
- 23:15Speaker 1: drops against the Niners pass rush, it will be a problem.
- 23:19Speaker 1: So as you guys well know, sometimes it's how do
- 23:24Speaker 1: you match up? Like Green Bay, to me, no longer
- 23:27Speaker 1: feels like a team that can fall behind and quickly
- 23:31Speaker 1: catch up. Without a number one receiver, They're gonna have
- 23:33Speaker 1: to control the line of scrimmage and be a different
- 23:35Speaker 1: team Tampa. Similarly, with this, Tom Brady hates pressure at
- 23:40Speaker 1: the feet. They cannot trail late and drop eighteen straight times.
- 23:44Speaker 1: That's not what this old line is. Jensen was a
- 23:47Speaker 1: fantastic center, I mean, one of the league's more underrated players.
- 23:52Speaker 1: So I kind of feel like in a weird way,
- 23:54Speaker 1: as the a f C it just gets better and
- 23:58Speaker 1: all these young quarterbacks get better and more experienced. The
- 24:01Speaker 1: NFC is just open for the Rams and the Niners.
- 24:05Speaker 1: I think, and I think what Trey Lance will be
- 24:09Speaker 1: is a less accurate Jimmy G with more big plays athletically,
- 24:13Speaker 1: and that'll be fine. I mean, Jimmy G had twenty
- 24:15Speaker 1: tv s twelve picks last year they got to the
- 24:16Speaker 1: NFC Championship. They really had no over the top ability, right,
- 24:20Speaker 1: But he's an accurate thrower. So I kind of feel
- 24:23Speaker 1: like Rams Niners they've gotten a huge break with Davante
- 24:26Speaker 1: Adams leaving and the Buck's injuries. I don't think Tampa
- 24:29Speaker 1: Green Bay have the ability to play from behind at
- 24:32Speaker 1: the same level as they did in previous years. So
- 24:35Speaker 1: right now, according to fan Duel, Tampa Bay Buccaneers plus
- 24:39Speaker 1: three forty on the money line. That's all Tom Brady, right,
- 24:43Speaker 1: Like Colin, what you just said about the offensive line
- 24:46Speaker 1: is accurate. Every better knows you pay attention to what's
- 24:50Speaker 1: happening there. It's why betters watch preseason games so they
- 24:53Speaker 1: can see how the second and third string offensive linemen
- 24:56Speaker 1: are doing. Because in Week ten, if that guy's out,
- 24:58Speaker 1: it starters out. They want to know what kind of
- 25:00Speaker 1: value they're going to get, right, So that's a public play.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Bucks at plus three, Rams five to one plus five
- 25:08Speaker 1: right now, Packers five to one on FanDuel. That feels
- 25:12Speaker 1: like an Aaron Rodgers public play, too, right because, like Colin,
- 25:16Speaker 1: I've heard you talk on the radio about Matt Lafleur
- 25:20Speaker 1: about the scheme about the knee for receivers. Right now.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Then you've got the Niners at plus seven fifty. Of
- 25:29Speaker 1: those four teams, which two teams have the most talent,
- 25:34Speaker 1: have the best coaches, and are the most loaded at
- 25:37Speaker 1: every single position that matters the most right now in football? Yeah,
- 25:42Speaker 1: the two teams I've watched in the preseason, even with backups,
- 25:46Speaker 1: I'm gone, Wow, Bills Niners, Like the Rams have really good,
- 25:51Speaker 1: really good high end talent, but they don't have a
- 25:53Speaker 1: second corner um their linebacking core outside of Bobby Wagner's
- 25:57Speaker 1: pretty pedestrian interioral lines. A. When I watched the Bills
- 26:01Speaker 1: and the Niners, I'm like ship I mean that Niners
- 26:04Speaker 1: all those that running back from l Sue Danny Gray
- 26:08Speaker 1: like they hit them and they had on some draft picks.
- 26:11Speaker 1: It's like, oh wow, while they were deep. I think
- 26:15Speaker 1: we forget to the Niners have had and maybe at
- 26:17Speaker 1: Shanahan style. They've overcome a lot of injuries in the
- 26:21Speaker 1: last two years in the toughest division. They still give
- 26:25Speaker 1: the Rams fits with injured Jimmy G, injured Devo, injured Kittle.
- 26:31Speaker 1: They have overcome injuries so far. It's been a pretty
- 26:35Speaker 1: clean camp and I think they have more depth now
- 26:37Speaker 1: than they had the previous two years. So in your opinion,
- 26:42Speaker 1: Trey Lance, everyone's getting excited about him. When you look
- 26:46Speaker 1: at a Tray Lance as quarterback, see what he hasn't done,
- 26:52Speaker 1: See what he did in college against clearly inferior competition.
- 26:58Speaker 1: What makes you feel comfortable by into the Niners about
- 27:02Speaker 1: him because I think they have a super Bowl coach,
- 27:06Speaker 1: is super Bowl defensive, super Bowl roster. I think they
- 27:08Speaker 1: have depth. Seattle's tanking in the division. That's two wins
- 27:12Speaker 1: and my takeaway is, um, I think he's going to
- 27:16Speaker 1: complete about his throws and he's going to be Jimmy G.
- 27:20Speaker 1: But healthier and more dynamic moving the ball. Um Shanahan's
- 27:27Speaker 1: very interesting. Privately, he may have concerns about his accuracy.
- 27:35Speaker 1: But what Kyle Shanahan wouldn't want. I'd make the argument
- 27:39Speaker 1: he wouldn't want Aaron Rodgers because Aaron wouldn't listen to him.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Kyle likes quarterbacks who he can tell what to do
- 27:47Speaker 1: and they'll listen. And I think most great offensive coaches
- 27:52Speaker 1: truth be told. I think far drove home grown crazy.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Um Montana was a good listener. That's why Walsh liked him.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Is that we always have this idea like I think.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I think Mahomes is hard to coach. I think mechanically
- 28:05Speaker 1: he goes sideways every year for about six weeks. I
- 28:08Speaker 1: think Andy Reid loves him, but he's hard. So there's
- 28:12Speaker 1: always this feeling that, um, you know, the more talent
- 28:15Speaker 1: the better. No, really, it's actually Brady knows his limitations
- 28:19Speaker 1: and that's why he's always taken to coaching. Aaron Rodgers
- 28:22Speaker 1: is harder to coach. Marino was harder to coach, Jeff
- 28:25Speaker 1: George was hard to coach. So Trey is not good
- 28:28Speaker 1: enough to be uncoachable. And I think Tray knows it.
- 28:31Speaker 1: And I think in a weird way, Shanahan can mold
- 28:35Speaker 1: him to what he wants him to be. So I
- 28:38Speaker 1: don't see all his limitations as flaws. I see them
- 28:41Speaker 1: as sort of benefits for a brilliant coach who doesn't
- 28:45Speaker 1: want a guy at living who doesn't want a guy
- 28:46Speaker 1: out there, who who believes, like I could win with
- 28:48Speaker 1: any coach. I think Trey Lance needs Kyle, and so
- 28:52Speaker 1: I think the relationship when the quarterback needs the coach,
- 28:55Speaker 1: it works. I never know, when you say privately, I
- 28:59Speaker 1: never know how behind the curtain you're bringing us because
- 29:02Speaker 1: of all your contacts in the NFL that was not sourced.
- 29:06Speaker 1: That is my belief. I think if you listen to
- 29:08Speaker 1: my show, you watch yeah. So my belief is like
- 29:13Speaker 1: Sean Payton is a great example. Drew Brees was short,
- 29:16Speaker 1: Drew Brees wasn't super athletic. Drew Brees couldn't throw it
- 29:19Speaker 1: over the top his last seven years. He needed coaching. Therefore,
- 29:22Speaker 1: he was really coachable. That's why Sean Payton loved him.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Right Like Josh Allen is great, but he would drive
- 29:28Speaker 1: Sean Payton at times crazy. Mahomes drives Andy crazy at
- 29:31Speaker 1: times like they like you know, it's it's not easy,
- 29:33Speaker 1: it's constantly managing. So the downside of Lebron is he
- 29:37Speaker 1: doesn't need a lot of coaching, and so you kind
- 29:39Speaker 1: of sometimes the knock on Lebron has been in the NBA.
- 29:42Speaker 1: It's kind of his team. The offense runs through Lebron.
- 29:45Speaker 1: You don't do a lot of coaching. And so for
- 29:47Speaker 1: for Frank Vogel that maybe is okay, but for Spoelstra
- 29:51Speaker 1: it drove him fucking baddy. Like like Spoilster's a coach,
- 29:53Speaker 1: He's really good coach. He likes to coach. Lebron doesn't
- 29:56Speaker 1: need a lot of coaching. So I think Shannahan's a genius,
- 29:59Speaker 1: and I think he likes to mold stuff out of
- 30:02Speaker 1: his vision. And Jimmy and Trey, I mean Jimmy's let's
- 30:07Speaker 1: be honest, it wasn't Jimmy's lack of talent. It's just
- 30:10Speaker 1: Jimmy's not as committed as Kyle is. He disappears and
- 30:13Speaker 1: he's hurt, but trays trays issues are you know, he
- 30:18Speaker 1: I wish he was a pretty er thrower. He's not.
- 30:20Speaker 1: He's not Joe Brow, he's not kinda lets't know who
- 30:22Speaker 1: he is, but I think in the end he's gonna
- 30:24Speaker 1: like Tray Tray and get to about sixty one and
- 30:26Speaker 1: a half sixty completion percentage. He's he's talented enough to win,
- 30:31Speaker 1: but not talented enough to not listen. Alright, So for value,
- 30:36Speaker 1: we like the Niners, but the Rams are probably the
- 30:42Speaker 1: Niners to me, are the better bet because you get
- 30:45Speaker 1: from value. Yeah, I think people view lance as weak
- 30:48Speaker 1: or a weakness, and I'm like, I don't. I I
- 30:51Speaker 1: also I think the Niners are one of the better bet.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Minnesota is my favorite bet in the NFC. I think
- 30:55Speaker 1: they're I think nine and a half is just incredibly
- 30:58Speaker 1: like I would pound me under Dallas, pound me over
- 31:01Speaker 1: on Minnesota. But I think the Niners are the rare.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I think it's the second best roster in the League
- 31:07Speaker 1: of Buffalo, I really do. I think it's in every
- 31:10Speaker 1: unit they have a star. I mean seriously, I mean
- 31:13Speaker 1: Fred Warner, Bosa, Trent Williams, Debot Uh, Elijah Mitchell, Frankly
- 31:20Speaker 1: in Kyle's system is kind of a star. Like they
- 31:22Speaker 1: have stars everywhere, tight end, safeties, pass rushers, tackles. I
- 31:27Speaker 1: love their roster. I mean, I can't disagree with column
- 31:31Speaker 1: that it's it is a good value bet on the
- 31:32Speaker 1: forty niners. To me, the value has been bet out
- 31:35Speaker 1: of at this point. That's why I'm just all hesitant
- 31:37Speaker 1: on it. Where the pros have already hit it. Where
- 31:39Speaker 1: we talked about and late in the seat, like late
- 31:41Speaker 1: after the season ended, Jimmy was still the quarterback, so
- 31:44Speaker 1: people were still kind of down on the four And
- 31:46Speaker 1: I is just because we've seen the same song and
- 31:48Speaker 1: dance with Jimmy and there was no real upside to
- 31:50Speaker 1: the betting that team. Now Trey Land stepping in, they've
- 31:53Speaker 1: been bet up to this point. So to me, I
- 31:55Speaker 1: disagree in the sense that I think the best values
- 31:57Speaker 1: on the Rams because their number really has come down
- 31:59Speaker 1: a little bit. Where we talked about that news about
- 32:03Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford getting two shots into his elbow is throwing arm.
- 32:07Speaker 1: That moved that number right, people immediately were like me,
- 32:09Speaker 1: there's that. That's red flags. When you're hearing some again
- 32:11Speaker 1: injections in August, that's bad. So to me, that's the big,
- 32:16Speaker 1: the big pause of the Rams right now. If I
- 32:18Speaker 1: was gonna put six figures on them head into the season,
- 32:21Speaker 1: that's cut way down, way way down. So to me,
- 32:24Speaker 1: I was all in on the Rams head into it.
- 32:25Speaker 1: I was gonna get in on it with a lot
- 32:27Speaker 1: of other guys. But I think we're all kind of
- 32:29Speaker 1: all on a motive. We'll touch the Rams, will bet
- 32:31Speaker 1: the Rams. So I think Colin touched and I still
- 32:34Speaker 1: think they're the best team them in the four nineers
- 32:36Speaker 1: in the NFC with everything going on Green Band Tampa.
- 32:39Speaker 1: But there's still so many question marks. I'd rather bet
- 32:41Speaker 1: these other teams that are way down the NFC because
- 32:43Speaker 1: I just think it's wide open. There's just a lot
- 32:45Speaker 1: of question marks on all these teams, even the top
- 32:47Speaker 1: ones NFC. There's no value in the a f C
- 32:49Speaker 1: this year. We know who the six big dogs are
- 32:51Speaker 1: in the FC, the six best quarterbacks NFC. Like again,
- 32:54Speaker 1: well we talked about the Eagles. There's all these new
- 32:57Speaker 1: and upcoming quarterbacks NFC that you able to hit on
- 33:00Speaker 1: one of these guys, and that's where the value is
- 33:01Speaker 1: gonna be. Listen, Colin just said the Niners could be
- 33:06Speaker 1: the second best roster after the Bills. Bills are six
- 33:09Speaker 1: to one to win the Super Bowl right now. Uh
- 33:13Speaker 1: And according to FanDuel, the San Francisco forty Niners are
- 33:18Speaker 1: six team to one, and there are five teams that
- 33:22Speaker 1: separate them, the Bucks, Chiefs, Rams, Packers, Chargers, then Niners
- 33:26Speaker 1: at sixteen to one. So what I'll say is, as
- 33:30Speaker 1: we wrap it up here, listen to Colin, go b
- 33:33Speaker 1: the Niners sixteen to one to win the Super Bowl?
- 33:38Speaker 1: What I bet that? Are you asking me at six
- 33:41Speaker 1: That's how I'm ending it. That's what I'm saying. Go.
- 33:44Speaker 1: But then listen to Colin. The Niners have the second
- 33:47Speaker 1: best roster. They are one to three, four, five, six,
- 33:52Speaker 1: seven shortest odds at sixteen to one to win the
- 33:56Speaker 1: Super Bowl. That feels like a play you want to make.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Boom totally agree. Brandon a US had a great camp,
- 34:02Speaker 1: by the way, so it feels like they've got two a's.
- 34:04Speaker 1: The reports I get from like Middle calf UK has exploded.
- 34:08Speaker 1: Are you debo? Like you said? Along the offensive line,
- 34:13Speaker 1: along the defensive line. It's an elite team with elite
- 34:16Speaker 1: coaching staff and a big question at quarterback and whether
- 34:19Speaker 1: or not they can manage that becomes the question. It's
- 34:21Speaker 1: also the defining moment for Kyle Shanahan's legacy. I agree. Okay,
