- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: got some text like where's your debo take I'm like my debo take my debo takes been out for two days I was right about it Monday I was right about it yesterday feels good I'm a little hot this week I said to start the week I think dribbling's passing personal no-inside knowledge just I test
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: Then it turned out, yeah, because Pierce holds hurt.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: Then I said, well, if Pierce holds out, there's an obvious answer, it's Debo.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: And then today I heard Matt May, okay, say, say something.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: I watched a video we did this morning about Pierce all.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: And he explained, because the question's natural, well, if your knees not good to go, nine or so on Debo, did I say that part?
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: It is Thursday night, hi guys, guy here.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: This is guys football focus.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: If the knees not good to go, why wouldn't you get surgery?
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: Eméo Go said, well, either way it's taken you out for the year.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: So, in theory, so you might as well try and give it a go.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people do actually recover with rest.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't appear like it's going to be the case, but that's why you give it a go.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: But when I heard him say that, a lot of things
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: There's a reason they reached, we can debate, reach, time will tell.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think regardless of draft position, Stribbling looks good.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: But if you knew then that they were worried that Ricky wasn't going to be able to play the year, wouldn't drafting the John Stribbling make more sense.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think with hindsight, we could say they probably suspected.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: With hindsight, we could probably say, was a kiddo in juice, was a kiddo in somebody talking about Dibo a week or two ago, before camp, with hindsight, maybe it makes sense.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: Did Dibo have other offers?
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but Dibo for $7 million that happened pretty quickly, is it possible that they told Dibo, hang tight?
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: you may have a team before the end of the first week of camp because it's seven million dollars.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, LeBron's making that in two years, it's kind of money Joey Bosa would get if he came and played starting November 7th, right?
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: That's like, you may want more than that.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that's some Joey Bosa's like October joined the team on Halloween money.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: Now after Mayoco said that, and then you see Debo quickly arrived, and the money is a reasonable number.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: As you would expect, that wouldn't have it, that's exactly what I would have said, six, so seven fine.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: But it feels like in hindsight now, there was a reason they did not want to miss that on stripling.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like one of those, well, we can get cute, but if we like this guy and we think he's gonna need to be our second best receiver this year, then let's just get him.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I said yesterday I thought debo makes sense, boom, here he is.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what it means for the status of Christian Kirk, the severity of that injury.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think when I put out the video yesterday where I said debo would make sense, there was I read read the comments and some people were like, well,
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: Look, if given the choice, I'd rather have Ricky Pierce Hall with the hope that he is an ascending, big play player than Debo Samuel, but it is a hope, it's a hope.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Debo last year, and I went through some of his stats.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm gonna give you some of his stats and some of these are misleading, but still probably eye-opening, like 727 receiving arts last year for Debo.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we could say, oh, well, you know, they weren't that good and they forced Fed him and a 40% of his touches were around or behind the line of scrimmage and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and all that legit context.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: But I bet you wouldn't have guessed he had 727 receiving ours last year if I'd, if you list you was on your fantasy team and I probably wasn't.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: If you're watching this video, he probably was not on your fantasy team last year.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_00]: Now, would he have had 727 receiving drugs on the night or last year?
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: No, but that would have been second on the team.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: 72 catches last year again, 53 qualified receivers.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: He was 51st in average depth of target.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: So these are not like high degree of difficulty throws, but
- 4:29[SPEAKER_00]: Would you have guessed he had seventy two catches and would you have guessed that's the second most of his career?
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not trying to convince you it is prime.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: Let's thought I'm saying.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think his numbers are probably better than you would guess.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's nowhere near his prime.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: He's not the runner anymore.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: He's not as explosive.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: A big play guy anymore.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: Although, you know, maybe with Mike Evans and McAfrey and Kittle and Kyle can just scheme him open.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: That's really what it's about.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: Bust a bubble screen here or there for 60 yards, right?
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: You know, two years ago on the riders, he was 51 catches 670 yards, and it was not good.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: And both those numbers are higher than numbers that Ricky Peercells put up in parts of two seasons.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, I mean, look, he's yak.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: I said this yesterday.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: Debo was fifth in the league in yards after catch last year.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: Six and a half.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: Now that number is skewed is flawed because of the other number I gave you, which is this average depth of target was just over five yards.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, not feel stretching, 40% of his targets were behind the line of scrimmage, but I love this stat that I found yesterday and I'll give it to you again.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: Peer saw one red zone touch in 20 yards.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not making the case you're better off this way.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's not what I'm saying.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: But you need it a professional receiver.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: There weren't many out there that know your offense that you trust, blah, blah, blah.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: He's not here to be your number two target, right?
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: He's like, to me, in an ideal world, Debo is fifth on the team in targets behind Mike Evans, dribbling, kiddo, McAfrey.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: You can live with that.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: You can scheme up three to six plays from a game.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: They'll be one game.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, oh, it's a Debo game.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: We all remember those.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: Pretty pretty.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: Pierce all one touch, one catch inside the red zone last year, four targets.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: Debo last year, what did I say?
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: 17 red zone touches, five red zone touchdowns.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: He would have been third on the team in receiving touchdowns last year.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: So he's still hard to tackle in tight areas.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's inefficient.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: So you don't want it to be 99 targets or whatever it was last year for the commanders, 99 targets last year for the commanders, 17 rushing hours.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, four yards of carry, 4.4 yards of carry.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe it opened, maybe the run game opens back up.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: But I think the 24 season was the end, you thought, but it was like, okay, you know, the time has come.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's fine to move on from Debo, right?
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: And even when you look back, a Jordan Mason led the team in touches that year, Isaac Garendo was second.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: Christian McCaffrey played in four games.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Brandon I.U played in seven games.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: Debo was forced into a role that he no longer, you know.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: was primed for, and you're not asking him to even play the 2024 role this year, right?
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's about being complimentary, being reliable, you know, maybe returns some kicks.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: You have piercels, got his number one, count on his got his number 19, but you know, it used to be like you didn't want to put debo back there much.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: Now, put debo back there, whatever, like why not, right?
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: That's an option to just, you know, you're thinking about ways to, I'm just trying to go find some, you know, he's never returned, it'd be nice if he could return pawns, he's never had a partner turn, but yeah, obvious, duh, makes sense.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to, you know, it's the fun digs or Zay Jones or Gabe Davis, like, those are not the answer, and it all came together quickly and I think now, you know, he's sort of thinking about it, like, okay.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: good thing they drafted stripling.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't complain now about stripling's draft position.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: Right, and it's helped.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: He's looked good.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: He's looked good.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: So Friday will be interesting.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: Deep was going to roll back out on his bike.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's my number one now.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's my number 19 now.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's my bike now.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: That was a good one.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: All right, did you ask for it?
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but you got it.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for hanging.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk soon.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go.
