September 25th

The Music Dial · Sep 25, 2026 · 5m

Rap, psychedelic rock, hard rock and classic American songwriting come together in today’s episode of The Music Dial, with stories connected to September 25.

We celebrate the birthdays of Will Smith and Donald Glover, revisit The Doors’ Strange Days, remember the legacy of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, and look back at the final concert of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

One date, several generations, and a mix of artists who left very different marks on popular music.
