- 0:00In The Life Divine, Sri Robindo describes the triple
- 0:04transformation that develops the human existence to a new status
- 0:09through conscious evolutionary development.
- 0:13The first transformation is what he calls the psychic
- 0:16transformation. The psychic transformation is
- 0:19the awakening to the soul, presence within, and organizing
- 0:24the aspiration, consecration, life, focus, and direction
- 0:29around the promptings of the soul.
- 0:33People ask how to go about doing this when we recognize that the
- 0:37human instrument is a receiving and transmitting instrument.
- 0:41We can utilize this information by consciously turning our
- 0:45attention to our psychic being, systematically moving our focus
- 0:50inward, and opening ourselves to the influence that we begin to
- 0:55experience as we undertake this practice, the Mother writes.
- 1:00Quote. All this can be realized by
- 1:04means of a fourfold discipline, the general outline of which is
- 1:08given here. The four aspects of the
- 1:11discipline do not exclude each other and can be followed at the
- 1:15same time. Indeed, this is preferable.
- 1:19The starting point is what can be called the psychic
- 1:21discipline. We give the name psychic to the
- 1:24psychological center of our being, the seat within us of the
- 1:29highest truth of our existence, that which can know this truth
- 1:35and set it in movement. It is therefore of capital
- 1:39importance to become conscious of its presence in us, to
- 1:43concentrate on this presence until it becomes a living fact
- 1:48for us and we can identify ourselves with it.
- 1:54In various times and places, many methods have been
- 1:57prescribed for attaining this perception and ultimately
- 2:00achieving this identification. Some methods are psychological,
- 2:06some religious, some even mechanical.
- 2:10In reality, everyone has to find the one which suits him best,
- 2:15and if one has an ardent and steadfast aspiration, a
- 2:19persistent and dynamic will one is sure to meet in one way or
- 2:24another. Outwardly, through reading and
- 2:27study, inwardly through concentration, meditation,
- 2:32revelation and experience. The help 1 needs to reach the
- 2:36goal, one thing is absolutely indispensable, the will to
- 2:42discover and to realize. This discovery and realization
- 2:47should be the primary preoccupation of our being, the
- 2:50Pearl of great price, which we must acquire at any cost.
- 2:55Whatever you do, whatever your occupations and activities, the
- 3:00will to find the truth of your being and to unite with it must
- 3:04be always living and present behind all that you do, all that
- 3:09you feel, all that you think. End Quote Reference Sri
