  [upbeat music] Good day, people.
• 0:16
It's Full Spectrum Cycling again. Happy Friday. For the 90th [laughs]- For the 90th time- For the 90th time... that's all this is. This is actually the 90th show. 90th, 90th- 90th time...
• 0:28
of this show, yeah, 90th time we're doing this. 90th time. Wow. That's very close to two years worth of fuckery. Probably over two years since... Or, I don't know. Yeah, probably. About.
• 0:39
Is 104 gonna be a full on two years? I'll have to find out. Speaking of, uh, a full on two years, are we gonna take a holiday break do you think? I don't know. What day of the year does X-Mas Eve fall on? Don't know.
• 0:54
Are you talking shop or the world? Yeah, the world's- Uh- The world... gonna take a break for sure. Right. They need to. Right? I don't think it's gonna happen till after the new year. Okay.
• 1:03
Well, maybe we'll soldier on through the [laughs] - Peddle on... through the holiday season. Peddle on. Because you're- Well, if we, if, if we did-... fine... if we did then it would be going on...
• 1:13
It would be a X-Mas Day present, this podcast then. Oh. Yes, it would be, wouldn't it? You know how many people are gonna- So we could give... This would be us giving to you. So our listener would get a present. Yeah.
• 1:24
I'm telling you. I think there's three or four now. So, uh- And same thing for New Year's too... uh, we got, uh, we got JK in his normal spot there. Uh, hello, hello. I'm thinking deeply right now.
• 1:34
[laughs] He always silenced JT, 'cause I don't know, how he ever... Never ends up with a headset on. [laughs] It's happened in the past though, JT. It happened once. It happened once.
• 1:43
[laughs] Uh, anything he says I will, I will say for him. You got a, got Azito over there. No, no, no. Hi. Azito can't say it for me. Well, I'll just repeat what you say like a parrot. Myna bird.
• 1:54
[laughs] And of course anchoring the, uh, the, the f- the far, uh, counterclockwise position on the table is Mr. Tony Berger. Mm-hmm. Can you do that better? No. Tony Berger. I'm, I'm, I'm low energy today.
• 2:12
All right. Well. I guess I'm just excited. Well, obviously 'cause you've made it to the show. The really big shoe. The really big shoe. Got a few things to tell you. I got a lot on my mind.
• 2:22
Uh, one thing we can tell you, rode some bikes. I don't know about that, but- Rode some bikes. Rode some bikes... what did you do for the...
• 2:29
We had this, we had Global Fat Bike Day and Santa Rampage all wrapped into one glorious day. I pushed around about seven different cars. Oh, hey. Yeah. At Con- At Conway's... oh, you were at Conway's house. Yes.
• 2:40
Oh, yeah. [laughs] No, I was at his warehouse or his garage, but that's, yeah. His race cars, his new Jag, winter storage for a bunch of cars. Lot of- Anti-establishment man... lot of cars without engines. Yeah.
• 2:52
Lot of cars without engines. Eat your cereal with a fork. Ah, they're race cars. Read Homer in the dark. [laughs] They're race cars. Well, I played for- I take your bike day and shove it sideways.
• 3:00
[laughs] You gotta make a dollar, man. [laughs] I don't know. I, Joe's a great guy. And I don't feel bad. But I got out for a ride later that day. I rode to Bayview. We did, we rode. Mm-hmm. I, I know that. Yeah.
• 3:12
We went somewhere. It was between- On the streets... oh, yeah, 13 to, 13 to s- 15 miles depending on- Yeah... what we were tracking in our app. I was gonna tell you guys to come by Conway's.
• 3:24
He's, place is above O'Reilly's. Oh, on Cherry Street? Yeah. Nice. I was gonna tell you guys about that. Nobody's gonna know what the fuck we're talking about, just saying.
• 3:31
I, I- My God, when you said O'Reilly's, I'm like, "Dude, they've been going for- No, [laughs] exactly... many, many, many years." Yeah. Exactly. I knew exactly where you were though.
• 3:39
[laughs] Did you know, did you know Mike, Mike and my old girlfriend Heather had a thing where she'd leave her underwear under the top of the toilet seat for him? At O'Reilly's? Not at O'Reilly's necessarily- That Mike?
• 3:50
... but, yeah, that- This Mike or- No, not that Mike. [laughs] Oh. [laughs] That's JK. That's not Mike. Oh, no, I was talking about this Mike. That's right.
• 3:57
[laughs] Yeah, no, no, that was a fun, fun little s- fact about Mike and Heather. All right. Right on. Sweet ass. [laughs] So, uh, yeah, where'd we... We went, we went and rode some.
• 4:07
It seemed like we rode further than we did, 'cause the next day I felt like we rode further than we did. Yeah, the bod was feeling- Yeah... a little off on the- I've already, I've already got a bad wheel.
• 4:16
That's another reason I wasn't out. Yeah. I like to spin buggies. Well, I, I just haven't had the, the same normal 10 mile a day rhythm that I would have in a normal world, but- Your rides- Still got time...
• 4:27
yeah, that worked out because that damn burger went in my belly. To be fair- To be fair... it was the first time I'd been on my fat bike in six weeks or something. Me too and- So...
• 4:36
I'm glad I ate at- You know, when you get electric power-... Stevie Dory instead... you get the atrophy in the old muscles, I guess. [laughs] Oh, you do not. You do not. Y- you still rolling, E?
• 4:46
Speaking of e-bikes- No, not tonight... Because your muscles are not working as hard when you're trying to just maintain a speed with your non-motorized compatriots. Well, then you turn off the E assist.
• 4:59
I don't have pedal assist. Just, you just don't press- Mine's just a throttle... you just don't press the button. Try keeping the pace, brother. Okay.
• 5:06
[laughs] Then you're just riding, but then you're just riding a heavy bike. Yeah. Oh, yeah. And [laughs] One of the early, one of the- Like a fat bike... one of those- Fat bikes are a fad, man.
• 5:13
They're slow, they're stupid, they're heavy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. One of those early e-bikes- Yeah, that muddy thing in the stand... was, uh, from Hall Chevrolet. I, I can't remember why.
• 5:21
They had, like, some cooperation with it in the late, late 90s, early 2000s. I expect research and- But my-... paperwork on this next week. Oh, shit. Because they have friends in China? It was hilarious. Uh, probably.
• 5:32
[laughs] But they, they loaned us, they loaned us three, and- All right, Mike toucher Who's us?... one, two, uh, New Rock, 102.1. All right. Um, and one of them, the motor essentially went out. Mm.
• 5:50
So that person had to ride this heavier than shit. Those things were a fucking tank to move. It's like a moped. Oh, yeah. E- easily, easily. How come- It was from-...
• 5:58
every car company tries to get into the bike business? Like Mercedes with AMP in the old days, and BMW has messed around more than once with... They're car companies, why are they messing with bikes?
• 6:08
Well, I think a, a lot of times some of those companies try to sell a car and you get a bike with it. Get a bike, get a bike, get a bike. They're not doing it for the bikes. First you get money.
• 6:15
No, well, yeah, but they, they- Well, that's what happened with the track thing, yeah Volkswagen did it. BMW did it. Volkswagen, right. Porsche. But they do it with skis. Lamborghini. They do it with everything.
• 6:24
They do it with skis. Trying to tie into the cool people with their [drum music] Trusky's juicifying... dinosaur-powered vehicles. Yeah. Uh, our... Well, I guess, here. No, we'll wait. We'll open those in a second.
• 6:38
[laughs] The beer has been delivered by JT. Oh. Uh, I understand you, sir, Mr. Zito, went to the new Wheel und Sprocket location. Uh, I have been there twice. What's your, what's your, um, impression? Gorgeous space.
• 6:53
Great setup, great concept. Um- Lack of gloves, I understand. Yeah, I c- I didn't find a pair of gloves. I was looking for a pair of, of, of gloves, you know, mid-weight.
• 7:03
Actually, I was looking for a, a specific Planet Bike glove, that, like, mid-weight fall glove that if you ride short distances around, you can use all winter round. You don't, you know? The, the Lobster?
• 7:13
Anything under five miles. Yeah, they're a Lobster- I like the gloves... with the two fingers, but, but they're, like, a mid-weight. I have the Borealis is the one that's heavier. Yeah.
• 7:22
And I have those, too, and those are great, you know, down to six degrees or whatever, you know, subzero. But the, uh- I miss my Lobster... I was looking for the mid-weight. Sometimes those are a little much.
• 7:31
When it's 30 degrees, you want gloves, but you don't want a Borealis, you know? Right, yeah. I d- So I don't, I don't know what their mid-weight one is called, but they didn't have... Ben's didn't have...
• 7:40
Could probably get them, but they... I was very disappointed in the glove selection. They were all Pearl iZumi, and I, I- I-... I'm not driving a Beamer to the bike shop- Hey, wait a second... to buy gloves.
• 7:49
I got Pearl iZumi gloves that are over 20 years old- Right... and I still love them. Right. But they're only for when it's below zero. Right, and- They definitely are [sighs] And how much did they cost? I don't know.
• 7:58
It was 20 years ago. You amortize it over. Yeah. It's, like, four bucks a year. Yeah. [laughs] You... No, it's worth it if they lasted 20 years. [clattering] Whoa. Whoa. Trusky had some Pearl iZumi gloves.
• 8:08
They got l- uh... Are they waterproof? [laughs] Hey. There's mass- They're gonna be, yo... mass hysteria at Pearl iZumi. I, I'm just saying they had one selection of gloves. They also get broken.
• 8:18
They had the one, one line, and, and I, I'm, I'm, I'm hoping it has to do with the pandemic or lack of being able to get m- merchandise. Did you see our 45NRTH glove selection? Uh, yeah.
• 8:27
No, you don't, 'cause they don't have [laughs] a lot of gloves right now. Right. Exactly. Nobody does, so I'm assuming, I'm assuming and attributing it to- Oh-... the pandemic... way to go, Mike...
• 8:37
just like everything in the bike industry. Like, I can't find a seat binder bolt. I couldn't find one there today, and I couldn't find one here today. It's probably because we- You know where I'm going tomorrow?
• 8:47
Vulture Space. There you're likely- Yeah, I'm going to-... to find one out there... I'll just take one off a bike. [laughs] You know, there's, there's supposed to be gloves. These are the gloves.
• 8:55
These are the gloves we have gotten. Dude, everybody's got their gloves. Gloves are like saddles, like bike shops. Got... Got them gloves. There's a different one for every ass. Waterproof.
• 9:02
These are the, my favorite mid- Like, good to about five. What, what make are they? Showers Pass. All right.
• 9:09
My favorite mid-winter gloves for years, and not just because I worked for the company, but because the gloves actually worked, were the, uh, the Answer. Answer, yeah. Oh, those Answer- Slip-on ones? Yeah. Yeah.
• 9:21
Yeah, dude, I mean, those gloves were hands down my favorites. Um, well, obviously with the company changing direction, if you will, I had to find some others, and so I found these, uh, Pearl iZumis.
• 9:34
  Sorry, I don't drive a Beamer. I don't drive a Porsche. I drive a, I d- Well, no, but it's an investment... I drive a Trail Glacier, but- I was looking for a pair of gloves I knew for, you know, 30, 35, 40 bucks.
• 9:42
These were 45 bucks. Right. These were the high end. Well, the one I was looking for- The high end... that they had was around s- 55 or 75 bucks. Oh.
• 9:50
And it was like, I j- I wanted a specific glove, and everyone carries Planet Bike, I assume because- 'Cause-... they're, they're cool- Well, it's local...
• 9:58
and they're, and they're local- They, they make, they make great stuff... and they're just, they're- Not arguing that... that's not expensive. Exactly. Yeah, they do a reasonably priced, good product.
• 10:04
And they la- and they last as long as- They do. They do. I, I'm tough on stuff. Well, I mean, this is my- We all are. We all are. HR, tough on stuff. [laughs] Can't get a little when you can't get enough. Ooh, I can't...
• 10:14
[laughs] All right. So Mr. Zito has another trick up his sleeve. Tell us about your- I got a couple things up my sleeve here... well, just talk then. Um, I wanna first say today I saw a video.
• 10:25
I don't know if any of you guys saw it. Troy Barrick posted something on Facebook about cycling in Fruita, and I don't know if any of you are, have been to Fruita, Colorado. Like, 20 years ago, yeah. Yeah. Mm.
• 10:35
And it's still kickass. Yeah. And I saw this video today, and I'm like, "I gotta get back there."
• 10:38
But I've had the pleasure to meet Troy years when I worked at QBP years ago, and then through Minneapolis and One on One and a couple Fat, Fat Tire Festivals when I went out there.
• 10:53
And, uh, then I got to spend some time with him in c- last year or 2014, I think. And just a, a really good guy. He was, he was the, uh, s- he started Over the Edge Sports.
• 11:07
He's the founder of Over Edge, which is, like, a mountain bike... They turned this ghost town in Western Colorado- Rad old shop... on the way to Moab into- A very rad shop...
• 11:15
the, the, a mountain bike metropolis, a mountain bike mecca. It's just a gorgeous place, so if anyone needs to get away- Pl- placing spiders over there?
• 11:22
If everyone needs to get away where there's not a lot of people and some world-class riding and some world-class people, the town, the town...
• 11:30
This video that I saw today, if you look it up on YouTube, something about riding in Moab or mountain biking in Moab, it, it really changed this town from a ghost town into, like, a thriving little small town.
• 11:41
It's really a, a cool place to be. Dig it. Other news. Other news. Local news. In my, uh, ventures as Milwaukee By Bike, I got in- invited to sit in with the rad Ass Kickers at The Mighty 921.
• 11:57
Best, best radio station in the world, 91.7. W- WMSE.org. G. They have a show for every one of you. Yeah. Anyone who listens to this, at some point during the day, go to their website, look at their schedule.
• 12:09
There's a show for everyone, and all the shows are awesome. Well, most of them. Yep. And, uh, they wanna do a ride this spring, summer. Spring, summer, and we're gonna do a music history ride.
• 12:24
Um, Milwaukee By Bike's role in it is gonna be, after they tell me that I can't take it over, that to let them do the format they wanna do, and Milwaukee By Bike is gonna escort- The group or groups around the city.
• 12:39
And you're gonna go around to different music venues, and it's all very in the works, so a lot of shaping and forming to go, but something to look forward to this spring, summer. We are planning it, um, COVID light.
• 12:55
You know- Hopefully no COVID. Right. But- You know what they need is an app for that- COVID light... so you can listen to it through your headphones.
• 13:00
Well, well, no, what we're thinking of is a website or something that you can go to, and if we can't do it in a group, do it...
• 13:08
You could do it individually throughout an afternoon, and then, you know, start all, start at one place, a big open space, and then end up there.
• 13:18
And whether we go off in small groups or one big group, or how many people there is- I was trying to say, "If we go off and smoke." I thought that would've been a good idea. Yeah. But people can go at their own pace.
• 13:25
They don't have to go with the big group. So there's, there's much forming still to do, but it's a concept they wanna go into.
• 13:32
And at Milwaukee By Bike, we're really honored to be asked to work with them, 'cause for years and years and years, I've been a supporter as much as I could, but I felt like I haven't given enough to...
• 13:43
They really are the best radio station in the world. Oh, no doubt. Hands down. Hands down. Oh, yeah. Look at that. 'Tis the opener. Since 19- this is, will be the 40th year coming up in 2021. Yes.
• 13:54
And in other Milwaukee By Bike news, we are venturing into possibly the pedicab racket. You know what you need? And I need some insight from people.
• 14:06
You know what you need on your pe- you need electric motors on those things. Yeah. I know. [laughs] That's why... Believe me. Yes, you do. Believe me, Everyday Cycles came up in that discussion the other day.
• 14:15
Yep, you do. You, you are f- they're not the people I knew who were doing it first, but you're the closest to me. The other guys are in Australia, and they were- Bam... 10 years ahead of you. There it is.
• 14:27
[laughs] Was he gonna say it first? Have I mentioned Minneapolis yet? There you go. Yeah, yeah, you, you did that earlier. [laughs] We're just trying to get, we're just trying to get the trifecta. There you go.
• 14:35
There is a couple out in Color- All right, what's the third one? We'll talk about this offline. Right on. Oh. Oh, whoa. Ooh, now there's secrets. Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh. We're gonna keep secrets from our, from our listener.
• 14:45
Yeah. All right. No, just it doesn't have to deal with, like, technically our... I don't wanna go too into electric bikes. Ugh. That's all. All right. That's all. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
• 14:54
Into Milwaukee By Bike you said, or into- Into electric bikes. Oh, yes. I started to get off on that tangent [bell ringing] Oh. JK's getting impatient. No, come on, electric bikes are great.
• 15:01
We need to- You've had a, quite a conversation to the top of the hill already, so- Well, well, that was the thing about the pedal- Well, let's get there... the, the, the rickshaws
• 15:10
is I don't like the idea of people having to deal with drunks late at night. I, I understand shuffling people to Summerfest all day long, or doing tours is which where the e-bike comes in, where you definitely...
• 15:23
It's gonna be an expensive venture for people, but people will pay it. Tourists come into town and spend thousands of dollars. And, uh- That's a heck of a town too, folks... doing a, doing a tour.
• 15:32
You gotta come to Milwaukee sometime if you haven't been here. Yeah. Yeah. We can take you on any kind of tour. Yeah. Hey, top of the hill. Pub tour. Pew. Pa-dew. Not much velocity on that one.
• 15:43
[laughs] Sort of a- Velocity intensities. Uh, so the top of the hill, JK. Another, another JK poll for the beer of the week. Yes. I had to get out of the damn house today, 'cause it was, like, too [laughs] nice.
• 15:54
It's, like, 57 degrees- Yeah... I saw on the old, uh- I'm like, I need-... thermometer at some point during the day. There is an excuse out there somewhere, yes, I have to go get your beer.
• 16:02
I have to go and drop off a library book, whatever. Just go out while the sun is shine, shining. It worked out nicely. Holy shit, is that a nice beer. I'm good. So it's a Juicify by Lakefront Brewery.
• 16:14
And I've just never saw this before. This is crazy. It's pretty good. It's an IPA. It's... Yes. But look at it. It's pilsner and wheat malt. It squeezes out a combo. Let me guess. Is it a juicy IPA? It's... Yes.
• 16:26
It's pilsner and wheat. It's got a really kinda neat- The nose... citrusy favor, flavor to it.
• 16:33
Yeah, it's got a serious- The nose, it, it- It squeezes out, uh, enough, oh, let's see, from the hops, to give up their mouth-watering lemon candy mango, mango, and passion fruit flavors.
• 16:45
You feel like you'd have a Lemonhead right in your hand just to kind of pop in right after? Kind of. Yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah, I feel that. I like that. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
• 16:53
JT, he's the, probably the biggest- This is- Give JT the mic, 'cause he's probably the biggest beer snob of the bunch here. [laughs] Very good call, sir. I mean, to be fair, Zeno's drinking a, a Miller High Life.
• 17:03
I'm drinking a Miller High Life. Yeah, but- But I worked for the, I worked- High Life for a low life, I always say...
• 17:07
I worked at the, at the en- with the Enlighten crew at that Woodvale and got to taste a lot of microbrews. And, and I, I do appreciate them, but you can drink 30 of these. Yeah, exactly. You know? [laughs] You can.
• 17:18
I can't. Uh- Yeah, I can't either... me- And you get to about eight and start speaking in tongues... and me... Yeah. Um, seriously, I've had a few. You don't wanna be around me after I've had a few of them.
• 17:24
High Life and myself, that really is pretty much, uh, how some people are with tequila, that is how I am with High Life. Really? Yeah. Ooh, you, you- I thought it was, like, a whiskey beer...
• 17:32
you end up at the strip club. I make a lot of bad decisions. I make a lot, lot of bad choices. I'm not gonna argue. I'm not gonna lie. My wife has seen this, so- There you go...
• 17:43
as far as- Gi- give, give him a little more presence on the old microphone there, engineer people... as far as this beer is concerned- Bro... um, there is definitely a bit more of a, if you will,
• 17:54
equatorial botanical nose behind it. [laughs] With a, a floral aspect. The citrus aspect of, of, of the taste is actually pretty mild. [laughs] Wow, we're... That's...
• 18:07
Yeah, JK's- But, um- Can I have, can I have some of that smoke? Jesus Christ. [laughs] JK's like, "Yeah, that's like $25 a beer." That's India pale ale.
• 18:15
I mean, I know it's an India pale ale, but it doesn't, it doesn't have that hop bitterness behind it. Mm-hmm. It has a very good bouquet. I've got a great des- Very good bouquet... I've got an awesome description of it.
• 18:24
Go for it. It seems like a pilsner and wheat malt with a juicy mix of hops that make it a clean and refreshing. I do get the refreshing portion of the, uh- It is very clean and refreshing. It's very floral. It's good.
• 18:35
It's an Ariel. That's what the bottle says. I'm not gonna... I'm going to say it's like if I smelled this as a potpourri in the back of the toilet cannon in somebody else's house, I would say this is okay. Yeah.
• 18:43
[laughs] Hey. Totally agree. Totally agree. This is actually totally... This is not offensive. This is proper. I, this is... Yeah. I- This is very proper. Proper. I mean, the- Proper... the mouth feel is nice.
• 18:50
It's, kinda has good silk to it. Oh, I'm gonna be getting more of this. A very microfin head. Be taking a picture of that. I think that might be a dirty glass Did you just say, did you just say microfine head? Yeah.
• 19:03
[whistles] I did. Ooh. I did. I mean, look at the effervescence. Right out from Northfield too. I mean, well, it's ve- [laughs] It's a very creamy beer, which would be explained- Oh... by the tap aspect of things.
• 19:10
Are you making love to this beer or drinking it? Well- Well, I'm drinking it out of a bottle, so I can't really see. Ah. Like, if you had- Well- That's because, okay, so we had a pre-show beer that had,
• 19:20
it, the same four beer cans had three different colors to the beer that came out of them. Really? And they were allegedly from the same batch from a small brewer, and I'm just wondering why.
• 19:32
Yeah, it was- Were any of them offensive tasting? No. No. No? No, they were actually- Oh, hot dog. How about that?
• 19:37
They were, they- My theory is we caught the first batch and the lines were still being cleared from the batch of the previous hopped ones. Okay. That's just my theory. Five people. That's reasonable.
• 19:48
I'm just happy when my pee comes out the same color as my beer. Five people, four microphones. You're gonna get this now, I know. [laughs] Oh.
• 19:55
Okay, so speaking of four microphones and three guys, and Chewy is- And two turntables... and Chewy, um, Chewy, I just listened to his latest attempt at a podcast, I'm gonna call it. Ooh.
• 20:07
He, he's doing, he's really trying. He's doing great. Um- That guy never seems to blow me, or to not- Yeah... blow me away. Yeah, yeah. He, everything he does is good. Yeah.
• 20:16
Th- so he had some guys down in, uh- He is a wanderer...
• 20:18
we're gonna post this show in some form or another at some point, but there's some guys down in Arizona, a- including Dirty, and, uh, some buddies of Chewy's that do a, a beer century where basically you ride 100 miles and drink a beer every 10 miles, preferably under a bridge, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
• 20:35
So they did kind of a, they did kind of a pre-planning show, which took some time, and then he talked to them on the ride when they were under a bridge. So it's kinda in- it's cool. It's interesting.
• 20:43
That's an easy way to do 100 miles. 10 miles at a time? Yeah. Absolutely. With a beer at each one. A beer at each one. Yeah, that sounds like- I bet, like, 60- That sounds like a race I'd do...
• 20:51
60, 70, 80, those, those w- those stretches are, like, quick as hell. [laughs] Everyone's all fired up. [growls] So wh- someone's went down already. [laughs] Well, you need to burn 'em off so you can earn 'em. Right.
• 21:02
Burn 'em and earn 'em, baby. Burn 'em to earn 'em. I can do that. That was at Pelotonia ride. That's what- That's what I needed, was a beer when I did that ride in Ohio. It was 100 miles.
• 21:10
100 miles, we did not pass a single bar. That was very poor planning. That was obviously- On who never-... wel- very well planned... well planned. What the hell are you talking about?
• 21:19
They had to, uh, do- dodge all these little towns outside of Columbus, Ohio, and not go past a pub. I was, I was like, I got done, I was like, "How did we not go by...?" I was like, "That was some really good planning."
• 21:32
[laughs] 'Cause it, like, every 20 miles I'm like, "All right, you guys, the next bar we see, we're gonna stop at. The next bar we see, we're gonna stop at." I always see a guy- Yeah.
• 21:41
I see that guy pulling a ride again, I'm like- Yeah, no, it was K- it was a cancer charity ride. Yeah, yeah. All right. So my point about this Chewy ride, even though we got derailed there slightly- It was awesome...
• 21:49
just that he- he's talking to these guys, and he's sitting in Minnesota now, where it's, you know, kinda windy and cold, and those guys are down in Arizona riding their bikes, drinking beer.
• 21:58
And I think it w- I listened to it. I, trying to help him with some kinda technical stuff so it sounds a little better.
• 22:04
But it, he's, he's doing a good job, and he's super interesting when he gets on point, when he starts really just kind of asking questions and, you know, kind of driving the train.
• 22:15
You mean, like, riding the Dakota F- Dakota 5.0 on a single speed- He drives the train... 20 iron? Yeah, right. He drives the train and makes, makes people come up with stuff. It's, it's gonna be great. That's cool.
• 22:23
Give, give Chewy's Salon Chair a listen. He's got two out there now, and I'm sure there'll be a couple more coming, so. Chewy's Salon Chair. Have you seen the salon chair? I have seen pictures of it.
• 22:32
It's actually a legit salon chair, [laughs] so. I'm kinda curious now. I mean- Well, if you're in Rochester, Minnesota, where he lives, you can sit in the salon chair and- Are there stirrups?...
• 22:41
he'd be a guest of, he'd be a guest of honor Probably drink beer. Are, are there stirrups? We, we have, we have thought about going there for- That is a question I have not asked him yet...
• 22:47
for, we have thought about going there for, well, I guess, future career development for myself, but- Hmm. Hmm. Yeah? I don't know. Milking cows or- I don't know... going to the Mayo Clinic, which one of these?
• 23:00
There's a, um, well, I guess that's not Rochester. That's Red Wing. Disregard. Red Wing makes sense. Yeah, Red Wing, they make the shoes. Red Wing also is near Winona, so you can go...
• 23:10
Where I did the only downhill mountain bike race- That's a beautiful part of the country... I ever did was in Red Wing, Minnesota. And named- In 1995... Winona Ri- Winona Ryder was named after the city. You know what?
• 23:21
Race sucks. Fun fact. I know, but I had my Lowa Leader and my LTS. We just talked about these earlier today, JT and I. Yeah. Oh. So that's where I raced my only downhill race on my LTS with said Lowa Leader fork. Oh.
• 23:33
[laughs] And my friend Dave- How'd you do?... still has a, uh- There was this uphill section-... a Red Wing Lowa... that sucked ass. Oh, I think- But I don't think we did that bad.
• 23:42
Lunz and I went, and I don't think we did as poorly as we planned on doing. Plus, we got hammered, and then we went to Mauston, and then went to Road America, and then it was kind of a long trip, but. I can imagine.
• 23:53
Can you, now? Yes. I rode out to the kettles with Dave once. It was a long trip. [laughs] It's a long strange trip. Get, get stuck with him in Georgia when you're in a dry county and just, and see how that goes for you.
• 24:05
[laughs] Angry. Georgia. Georgia. I do believe, uh, Russell The Love Muscle is reporting in from said Georgia. Yes. Yeah, I saw driving through Georgia listening to Alabama. Looking for a soul to steal.
• 24:18
He's in a bind 'cause he's way behind. [laughs] But I thought Alabama would've been better. Singing those favorite Beatles songs. T-Burger is surprisingly quiet today. Probably stoned, aren't you?
• 24:31
He doesn't take the pot. Are you on the pot? Are you on the pot?... knuckleheads around here. Give him some, give him some- Knucklehead... people to mess with. I think she's taking the pot.
• 24:40
So, um, beer just five, Zito, Milwaukee by bike. Uh, we got some bikes in the shop. I don't know if you wanna buy them or whatever. Nobody really- Should... should. How's the new shop coming? Nobody really should.
• 24:51
You have some nice bikes there, dude. Greg, how's the new shop coming? The new shop is, it's sort of a, sort of at a, I, I'd call it a slower s- pace than I would like, because the building is not being-...
• 25:03
electrified or waterfied. You should see our janky water to the toilet area with a hose. [laughs] It's strange. Oh. Um, but it's coming along. My house doesn't have plumbing right now. That's definitely up to code, dude.
• 25:13
It's kinda janky right now there, but- Throw some gaffer tape on there- First of all-... it'll be up to code... nobody knows we're in there yet now. Oh, yeah. Don't worry about it. Oh, thank God.
• 25:20
It's gonna be great though. Uh, my friend Brad came by, and he's the, he's the epoxy floor guy, and I'm like, "How's this look?" He goes, "Yeah." No. "We should just do the front part. This back part, no."
• 25:30
[laughs] Uh-oh. But you don't need to- No, it's gonna be good. You don't need to- The back part is the dirty part where I just store crap anyway... completely build it back there. Definitely. It'll be fine.
• 25:37
A- as, as we've seen in Milwaukee- Oh, dude... you don't nece- you don't necessarily have to plug the urinals into the, uh, the, the, the, this, this, the sewer system.
• 25:43
You can just let those drain into the ground underneath the building. That's fine. What, where was that? That was in Water, right? Yeah, Wyoming, Wyoming and Wisconsin are the same thing. Yes, that was. It was on Water.
• 25:50
Yes, that was. Was that Water? And I don't know how long that was happening. Um, that was at- The-... geez, I forgot the name... McGivens, the, um- Oh, yeah We don't have to call people out by name. No. Yep, yep.
• 25:59
Oh, no, it's gone. I know where you... On the Curve? Yeah. Yeah, the Curve there. But that wasn't, it was someone before. It was- Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah... the one before. It was my buddy's place. Yeah.
• 26:06
And that guy was my- Oh, that's right by where Moto Scoot was. Right. Yep. Yeah. Yep. Been there, done that. And that urinal was draining straight to the ground for- So, okay, so I'm in there, and, uh- Thank you...
• 26:16
there's a, they had two s- they had two, uh, stalls, and you're in there, and you're doing your, whatever you're doing in there.
• 26:21
And the guy next to you is pissing on your foot, and you're like, "Dude, you're pissing on my foot." He's like, "Well, gullies don't work anyway." I'm like, "Goddammit." So. Oh, okay.
• 26:33
Uh, Lunz used to work there, by the way, just so you know. Le Fr- what was that called? Well, there was a lot of places. It was- What was it called? But that's the place you're thinking of.
• 26:40
I'm thinking the last place it was called- Old-... was The Curve... yeah. It was, the last time it was The Curve, and I think it was like something- The Curve In... Casin- like [laughs] it wasn't Butch's.
• 26:49
It was, it was Fitzgibbon's. No, no, it was way after that. No, no, no, no. Fitz was in there- Fitzgibbon's... and then it became The Curve. Yeah. Yep, that's what it was. Fitz.
• 26:55
The, well, it was the second coming of Fitzgibbon's. From Water? You can catch him at Pi- Yeah... you can catch him at pitches a lot of times these days. Yes, and, uh, Miss Katie's. Like to stop by there.
• 27:05
Fitz- Or Miss Katie's Diner... Fitz, Fitz was my fifth grade basketball coach. Fitz was one of my dart team partners- And-... in the olden days...
• 27:12
I, I, I, it wasn't until I was like 13 or 14, maybe 15 years old, that I was like, [sniffs] "Oh, that's what coach smells like." [laughs] Uncle Mc- "That's what he stunk of." I was like- Uncle McFitz...
• 27:24
"Oh, dude, how did I not put that together earlier?" Right on. Fitz is a righteous individual. You got that right. A fantastic dad. Come and visit him at Miss Katie's- A savvy businessman... Diner.
• 27:35
It's up there, uh, by Marquette University campus on Claiborne. Gonna get a tour of Milwaukee here whether you want one or not. [laughs] Yep. Yeah, we're gonna throw some- We're just gonna throw some shit at it...
• 27:44
force a tour's gonna be- Coming into place. Ah. We might need that as a section in the show. Like, here's a little Milwaukee pitch. We're calling it... That's what we'll call it.
• 27:52
Some- The Milwaukee Slide since you built that great skid bud. How about the Milwaukee Shuffle? Milwaukee Skid. Could do that too. I saw that movie. Shimmy shimmy. That, bro, that, that, the Milwaukee Shuffle.
• 28:03
There you go. Mm-hmm. Gonna just have to get a video representation of that in a- Could, could that be like the-... cartoon form... Milwaukee by bike segment of the show? Sure. It's now time for the Milwaukee Shuffle.
• 28:12
Actually, that's a great idea. You should, uh- I know... once, once a show or once a month or whenever- Just a location... just whatever you saw last week that was cool, you just tell us about it. All right.
• 28:22
You know, a location- You don't even have to show up in here. You can call us on your phone and say, "Goddammit, that was a great place." Do you want me to start today? Sure. All right.
• 28:28
I saw this video today about Fruita, Colorado. [laughs] It was so cool. Dude, just go to Fruita. I know. Don't be dumb. Go to Fruita. All right. Just do that, Colin. Go to Fruita. Oh, I wanna go to... Where is it?
• 28:39
If you like mountain biking- Where, uh, Doc Holiday... they got something for world, they got world-class for every level. It's world-class beginner, world-class pro. Glenwood.
• 28:47
Glenwood Hills, Glenwood Springs, or Doc Holiday then. Oh, that's, yeah, that's where the- Oh, yeah, Glenwood Springs. Yep... that was the place you went with your rheumatiz or whatever you had.
• 28:54
That's, yeah, that's w- that's where I want. It's a tuberculosis in his case, but. It's west, west of Vail, but- Close... close, close to Vail, and that's, that's kinda my- Bird hour... destination. Hey. Matruski talk.
• 29:05
You shush. Have you ever been to Fruita? I, I, I will say that, uh, ages ago, took a road trip back from LA after picking up a truck for my sister. LA. Um. Mm-hmm. No, no, no, road trip out of LA. LA. LA. LA.
• 29:19
Um, and we spent four days in Moab and then two days in Fruita. What was the difference between the trails? Knowing now, knowing now, knowing now what I know now- [laughs]...
• 29:33
because I didn't know anything at that point in time because while Moab was the mecca, for sure, for sure- Right. Oh, yeah... this is great.
• 29:39
Good God, I mean, the trails out, not discounting that, but good Lord, our first day in Fruita, where we had 40 miles under our belt before we even made it back to the car, and it was just like...
• 29:55
And we could've kept going and going- Yeah... and going. And what, but what was the difference, did you notice?
• 29:59
They talk about it in the, in the little short film I saw today on YouTube, but the difference between Moab and Fruita is Fruita was built, all built, it wasn't built out of Jeep roads or using connector roads or anything.
• 30:11
It's just single track. Oh, I mean- Like, all of it is built- No, I'm, I'm-... single track... I mean, for me-... miles and miles... the, I'm not, I'm not gonna argue. I'm, I'm- Right, right, right, right...
• 30:17
no, I'm not trying to argue you. I'm just saying that's just what's remarkable. What I'm going to say is- There's no fire roads... to me, to me-... there's no gravel roads...
• 30:23
to me, it was just like the amount of single track in Fruita that we just came into- Oh, yeah... it's like, and we stopped at, um, I forgot the shop's name. Blanking it right now. Over the Edge. Over the Edge.
• 30:33
We stopped up at OTE and got a map and went. And we were both just like, "We timed our days poorly." Mm-hmm.
• 30:44
We was just like, Moab was rad because I mean it's like, you know, mecca of North American mountain biking for sure. But- Not anymore... but- Slickrock, baby... but, but I mean, no, Slickrock was rad. Yeah.
• 30:56
I mean, all of it, even up there, el- upper elevation stuff was great. It was just- Fruita's just endless... obviously on a hardtail- It's just endless...
• 31:02
uh, in the '90s was kind of a, a, it was rough, but- You didn't even make it to Utah What? You didn't even make it to Hurricane or anywhere in Utah yet. Well, I know, but- Oh, well-...
• 31:12
we were, we were on, we were on a mission. We were driving a truck back- True... from California to Wisconsin. Copy that.
• 31:16
And so we- I did a ride with Troy from Over the Edge that when I was out there with the Surly crew for the Fat Tire Festival...
• 31:23
hands down, we would've f- knowing now after, after that trip, after that spot, you know, between those four days in, in Moab and that, and the two days in Fruita- Beautiful Fruita... we'd have flipped them. Yeah.
• 31:33
We'd have flipped them. It's like two days in Moab, it's like that'd have gotten us enough of what we wanted out of Moab, and then four days would have given us so much more- Yeah, it's endless... out of Fruita.
• 31:43
It's endless. I mean, because just at the amount of trail out there, the amount of dirt. So yeah, I did that, that, a ride with Troy out there and a group of people during the Fat Tire Festival, and it was just endless.
• 31:55
There was something you were talking about that I started to say- [laughs]... that now I forgot what the track was, but it was a, it was a Fruita experience. Fruita. It was just mind-boggling.
• 32:04
Well, if I've lost you, I've lost our listeners too. Fruita. [laughs] Fruita. We, we ended our, we ended our first day- Fruita...
• 32:11
we ended our first day because we were on this like, just basically a railroad descent across this plateau, like, you know, railroad grade descent, like probably a 3% grade, but we were just cooking.
• 32:22
And it's like we were cooking, and we were cooking, and we were cooking, and just moving, and moving, and moving, and just going downhill with the flow of the trail. And then we realized we'd been going for two hours.
• 32:34
And like, holy crap. Cooking with gas. It's 3:00 in the afternoon. We gotta get back to our truck. [laughs] Yeah. Like we gotta go back up this. We got a lot of climbing to do. Oh. We got a lot of climbing to do.
• 32:45
We got, we got up and we g- we got back to it pretty much in, in darkness. But I mean, it was a mistake, and we were just like- We can do this... we, we planned this wrong. We planned this wrong.
• 32:56
Just that descent, that descent on, on that, on that rail grade was just fucking amazing. Amazing. Right on. Right on, right on. Well- Hey, show 90... show 90, all in the books already. Unbelievable.
• 33:11
Nine- Unbelievably... go to Fruita. Go to Fruita. Go to Fruita. Fruita, what, that's your third, that's your, the third leg on your stool is Fruita. Yeah. It's like juicy. That's right. Fruita. [laughs] Fruita. Yes.
• 33:22
But it doesn't lose its flavor- Fruita... after five chums, I'll tell you. And listen to Early Man on your way. Right on. Dun-na-na-na.
• 33:32
  [rock music]
