- 0:00Speaker 1: So we have Margaret. Well, Phil, the reason why I'm
- 0:03Speaker 1: going to be on the program today is because of
- 0:05Speaker 1: this time last year, almost this day, we were squatting
- 0:10Speaker 1: on milk crates in Times Square.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:12Speaker 1: No, wait. I'm going to finish saying this.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's great. You have to understand.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I'm going to finish what I've got to say. Anybody
- 0:18Speaker 1: opens their mouth?
- 0:19Speaker 2: You? You?
- 0:20Speaker 1: No, I'm not going to say anything. I just, you know,
- 0:22Speaker 1: the guys are making a point. All I want to
- 0:24Speaker 1: say is this. Oh, my God.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Mark.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Okay. Go ahead.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Yeah, go ahead, Ms. Green.
- 0:31Speaker 1: My name is Gray. It's not Green. You said, go ahead, Ms.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Green.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I thought it was Green.
- 0:36Speaker 1: What do you mean you thought it was Green? I thought...
- 0:39Speaker 1: Go ahead, Margaret. Is Frank on the line? Frank is. Frank,
- 0:43Speaker 1: are you there?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been sitting here for about four or five
- 0:46Speaker 2: minutes waiting for it to... As soon as I hear
- 0:49Speaker 2: it start talking, I know I'm up. So I sort
- 0:52Speaker 2: of cue myself. I gear myself.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Thanks a lot, Frank. So we have Frank on the line.
- 0:57Speaker 1: Don't hang up on him like that. I didn't. I just...
- 1:00Speaker 1: Cut him off. Okay, so Margaret, look, this time last
- 1:03Speaker 1: year we were in New York. We were enjoying performing
- 1:06Speaker 1: in the pitch by Tom Alper. All of our castmates.
- 1:09Speaker 1: It was a great, great experience. And I just loved
- 1:14Speaker 1: New York. Are we going to get around? We're going
- 1:16Speaker 1: to get around to you in a second.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Hold on.
- 1:19Speaker 1: See, when you say you're going to get around to me,
- 1:21Speaker 1: it sounds like you've got all these great things to say.
- 1:23Speaker 1: But yeah, we've got to get around to it.
- 1:26Speaker 3: That's what Brent calls you.
- 1:27Speaker 1: He's my husband, okay? It sounds like, oh yeah, and
- 1:31Speaker 1: besides all the good times, let's get around to Margaret
- 1:33Speaker 1: and listen to her talking about squatting with her underwear
- 1:37Speaker 1: hanging out. Hey, Margaret, you know, it's been a whole year.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Maybe we could have dealt with it in the time,
- 1:42Speaker 1: in the interim. Well, Phil, I talked to you about
- 1:44Speaker 1: it on the day it happened. I talked to you
- 1:46Speaker 1: about it in the months after, as soon as we
- 1:48Speaker 1: got back to Florida. And you said you were going
- 1:51Speaker 1: to reimburse. I said, that's not good enough. I think
- 1:53Speaker 1: something has to be, I think we have to deal
- 1:55Speaker 1: with this in a way whereby there are others who
- 1:59Speaker 1: are not Treat it that way. Margaret, did I force
- 2:02Speaker 1: you to squat on a milk crate? By virtue of
- 2:04Speaker 1: the fact we were doing your show from Times Square
- 2:07Speaker 1: with no seating, yes. So what are you, your husband's
- 2:11Speaker 1: an attorney. Frank's an attorney. We're not looking for monetary remuneration.
- 2:19Speaker 1: That's it, remuneration. We are not looking to penalize you.
- 2:24Speaker 1: This is all punitive, okay? You know about punitive? Yeah,
- 2:28Speaker 1: I know what it means.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Where are you going, Miss Gray?
- 2:31Speaker 1: I don't know. I just, all of a sudden, just lost,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I'm out of the mood now. Because I told you
- 2:36Speaker 1: I knew what punitive meant. So Margaret's pissed off, ladies
- 2:39Speaker 1: and gentlemen. I'll do it. I'm pissed off that in
- 2:42Speaker 1: the year since I squatted on a milk crate with
- 2:44Speaker 1: my underwear hanging out, what's he laughing at? Well, Margaret,
- 2:48Speaker 1: you know.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Hey, bud.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Well, Margaret, you did. You sat there. You wore a
- 2:53Speaker 1: dress knowing full well we'd be sitting on milk crates.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I didn't know that till we got there, chump. Don't
- 2:59Speaker 1: start in with me, General, okay? Don't start because you
- 3:02Speaker 1: know I'll end it. I'll finish it. You won't be
- 3:05Speaker 1: feeling very good. I'll be skipping down the street. And
- 3:08Speaker 1: it goes like that. Yeah, okay. All right, look, Margaret,
- 3:12Speaker 1: you know, the threats aside, what do you want? What
- 3:15Speaker 1: I want is the following. Margaret, what do you want,
- 3:17Speaker 1: a plaque? What do you mean, a plaque? Well, something
- 3:19Speaker 1: on the... What can we do to make this right?
- 3:21Speaker 1: Get Frank up, please. Get my husband on the line. Okay.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Frank Gray joining us now from Santa Monica, California. Frank,
- 3:29Speaker 1: how are you? It's Phil Henry.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And Margaret's here. Hi, Frank.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Hi. Okay, so I talked to it this morning, Phil,
- 3:36Speaker 2: and wanted to talk a little bit about the fact
- 3:38Speaker 2: it had its underwear hanging out. And I said, well, look,
- 3:43Speaker 2: as far as I'm concerned, this is what we call
- 3:46Speaker 2: in the legal profession la una patata, which is Latin
- 3:50Speaker 2: for before it's it's a it's in the it's blue
- 3:55Speaker 2: it's party you know you mean Latin I don't know
- 3:58Speaker 2: I made that up the fact is it's a small
- 4:01Speaker 2: it's a nuisance suit.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Are you suing me it's not a suit right Frank
- 4:05Speaker 1: no it's.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Not a suit it's more like a pair of shorts.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Go ahead Frank okay so.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Anyway you know it's not a suit it's a what
- 4:17Speaker 2: we want is what we call the legal profession An
- 4:21Speaker 2: application for the soothment. You see what I'm saying?
- 4:24Speaker 1: What is that again?
- 4:26Speaker 2: It's an application. Legalese, we call it an application for
- 4:29Speaker 2: the soothment. There's a soothing, almost like a salve, that's
- 4:34Speaker 2: applied to the area, and it's rubbed in, and it
- 4:37Speaker 2: feels good. See?
- 4:38Speaker 1: Okay, Frank. In a minute, I'm going to hang up.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Why?
- 4:41Speaker 1: You're telling me that that's a real legal thing.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Yes.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I'm the lawyer, Phil. You aren't. It's called a legal
- 4:49Speaker 2: process or procedure, an application for the soothment where the
- 4:54Speaker 2: legal salve is either remuneration in terms of dollars, a
- 4:59Speaker 2: public apology, or some kind of a lasting memento slash
- 5:04Speaker 2: plaque slash permanence that says on this day, on this date,
- 5:10Speaker 2: Margaret Gray made a brave effort at completing its role
- 5:14Speaker 2: in a Phil Henry show. You understand what I'm saying? Yes, sir,
- 5:16Speaker 2: I do.
- 5:16Speaker 1: So which is it?
- 5:17Speaker 2: I don't know. Margaret, what do you think?
- 5:19Speaker 1: Well, here's my idea. The soothment, or they say application
- 5:21Speaker 1: for the soothment, the salve, the legal salve, you know
- 5:25Speaker 1: what a salve is? Yeah, it's like a lotion. Right. Well,
- 5:28Speaker 1: the legal salve applied to, frankly, when we talk about
- 5:33Speaker 1: what happened to me with the underwear hanging out, the
- 5:35Speaker 1: salve would be applied to my don't laugh, bud, or
- 5:38Speaker 1: I'll kick you so hard salve. You'll be in orbit
- 5:41Speaker 1: within three minutes. You'll stay in orbit. And then you'll
- 5:44Speaker 1: be coming, then you'll be touching down around Super Bowl time.
- 5:48Speaker 3: God damn, Joe.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Then don't laugh. Although I don't like you threatening people
- 5:54Speaker 1: with violence, Margaret. Yes, sir.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Bucket. Where is it? Margaret. Bucket.
- 6:02Speaker 1: She got angry.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Oh, for Christ. What happened, Margaret? Did Margaret threaten to
- 6:06Speaker 2: kick Bud through a wall?
- 6:07Speaker 1: Yes, she's always doing that.
- 6:08Speaker 2: All right, Margaret, you can't do it to the kid.
- 6:11Speaker 2: It gets scared, and then I have to deal with it.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Frank, here's what I'm trying to say. I think in
- 6:17Speaker 1: the application of a legal salve, being the application for soothment...
- 6:24Speaker 1: so that people apologize to me. And I think in
- 6:27Speaker 1: this case, Phil has to apologize to me. And then, yes,
- 6:30Speaker 1: some permanent memorial, not a statue necessarily, but I do
- 6:35Speaker 1: want something like a bust of me there. I don't know. See,
- 6:40Speaker 1: it would have to be of you squatting. You don't
- 6:42Speaker 1: want that. No, I do not want that.
- 6:43Speaker 2: All right, well, Margaret, I think, Phil, what do you think?
- 6:49Speaker 2: If I can apply to the city of New York
- 6:51Speaker 2: to have a small bust placed of it, If it's there,
- 6:55Speaker 2: and we have to see what happened. You were squatting,
- 6:59Speaker 2: and it was part of your ass showing.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I'm not going to say, Frank, if you think for
- 7:04Speaker 1: one minute I'm going to allow a bust, or any
- 7:07Speaker 1: kind of a statue in Times Square with part of
- 7:09Speaker 1: my ass showing.
- 7:10Speaker 2: That was part, oh my God, Margaret, I'm trying to
- 7:13Speaker 2: make this right.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Margaret, I don't think it's representative of what happened, okay,
- 7:18Speaker 1: but your ass was... My ass was what?
- 7:21Speaker 2: According to the New York Times, not the New York Times,
- 7:24Speaker 2: what's the one, the New York, the Noodle York?
- 7:28Speaker 1: The Daily News.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Yeah, according to the Daily News, part of your buttock
- 7:32Speaker 2: was exposed, and that's when the legal covers say that
- 7:37Speaker 2: the buttock was exposed and excoriated, and therefore a soothment
- 7:42Speaker 2: or a salve needed to be applied to the, and again,
- 7:45Speaker 2: this is the legal term, it needed to be applied
- 7:48Speaker 2: to the butt cheek area. of that issue. We're not
- 7:52Speaker 2: talking about real butt cheek. We're talking about the butt
- 7:55Speaker 2: cheek as it represents the legal doctrine, you see.
- 7:59Speaker 1: The butt cheek of the legal.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I think this is bullshit.
- 8:04Speaker 2: That's why you're not a lawyer, Phil, and I am. Okay.
- 8:06Speaker 1: All right, Frank, so what's the upchuck? I mean, the upshot.
- 8:09Speaker 2: The upchuck. Do you hear what it said? It almost said.
- 8:11Speaker 1: What is it, Frank?
- 8:13Speaker 2: Okay. Well, I believe that the Phil Henry show owes Margaret...
- 8:18Speaker 2: a sum of, I would say, $ 30, 000. Oh, my God. Well, look, Phil,
- 8:24Speaker 2: you know, my wife was held up to ridicule and
- 8:27Speaker 2: amusement without a salve, without a soothment.
- 8:30Speaker 1: What is this salve and soothment? It sounds like she's
- 8:34Speaker 1: getting an ass rubbed down in the middle of the street.
- 8:40Speaker 3: Shut up, bud.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Shut up. Well, that's what it sounds like.
- 8:44Speaker 2: It's not, but the ass salve Anytime... Let me start
- 8:50Speaker 2: all over again, okay? If you don't mind.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Don't start all over again. Just pick up where we are.
- 8:55Speaker 2: All right. Well, anytime someone is publicly humility and ridiculed,
- 9:00Speaker 2: it's called... That situation needs soothing. It needs the legal
- 9:05Speaker 2: salve of a legal doctrine being applied to the legal
- 9:11Speaker 2: ass-cheek or butt-cheek of the issue. It just so happens
- 9:15Speaker 2: in this case... Margaret's ass was hanging out of its dress.
- 9:20Speaker 2: And it sat there, and it was a good soldier, right?
- 9:25Speaker 2: So what we'll say is that $ 30, 000 covers the soothment
- 9:31Speaker 2: and then a bust showing Margaret, very beautiful. It's a
- 9:35Speaker 2: beautiful woman. You have to admit, my wife's a beautiful woman.
- 9:38Speaker 2: And then a very small, small photograph of your ass
- 9:42Speaker 2: hanging out of your dress.
- 9:43Speaker 1: No, that's not going to happen, Frank.
- 9:45Speaker 2: What?
- 9:46Speaker 1: It's not going to happen, Frank. That sounds ridiculous, Frank.
- 9:49Speaker 1: You're going to ask a woman to show her ass
- 9:51Speaker 1: in a photograph?
- 9:53Speaker 2: No, we'd hire a sculptor to do a very tasteful... Oh, boy.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I thought you guys were on the same... page with me.
- 10:00Speaker 1: You're going to hire a sculptor to do what? To
- 10:02Speaker 1: show Margaret squatting with her ass hanging out of her
- 10:05Speaker 1: underwear in Times Square?
- 10:07Speaker 2: Yes. To show what one woman had to sacrifice for
- 10:11Speaker 2: some guy's podcast in the middle of New York while
- 10:15Speaker 2: he's up there in a play. I don't know.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I mean.
- 10:19Speaker 2: You know, Phil, I don't know what you did in
- 10:21Speaker 2: New York. People told me you were on some kind
- 10:22Speaker 2: of a gummy binge. I would rather not say.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Who told you that?
- 10:26Speaker 2: I'd rather not say.
- 10:28Speaker 1: No, I wasn't. As a matter of fact, I was
- 10:29Speaker 1: a pretty stone sober guy for most of the time
- 10:33Speaker 1: whenever we had a day off. Sure, I had a
- 10:35Speaker 1: couple of drinks, but that was, I don't use drugs, okay?
- 10:38Speaker 1: I don't use recreational drugs.
- 10:39Speaker 2: You want to say that again?
- 10:42Speaker 1: I don't use recreational drugs. Now, what about me? The
- 10:46Speaker 1: $ 30, 000 is fine, Frank, but if you think that I'm
- 10:50Speaker 1: going to have a statue commissioned showing my ass in
- 10:54Speaker 1: the breeze... That's not in the breeze, but how is
- 10:57Speaker 1: that even decent?
- 10:59Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm just trying to make things right, okay?
- 11:02Speaker 2: I'm just one man. One man trying to do... I'm
- 11:05Speaker 2: trying to do it, okay?
- 11:06Speaker 1: Frank, I appreciate that very much. $ 30, 000? You're telling me
- 11:09Speaker 1: just pay Margaret a bonus of $ 30, 000? I think that
- 11:10Speaker 1: that would be.
- 11:14Speaker 2: In keeping with the service that it's provided for you
- 11:18Speaker 2: down through the years. And I ought to know, because
- 11:22Speaker 2: it has a son, our son, and it has to
- 11:24Speaker 2: take care of the kid, and then it goes to
- 11:26Speaker 2: New York with the ass hanging out.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I'll agree to the $ 30, 000, okay? As far as I'm concerned,
- 11:32Speaker 1: Margaret's done such a good job, I wouldn't mind bonusing
- 11:34Speaker 1: you that, Margaret, okay? Thank you very much, Phil. All right,
- 11:37Speaker 1: but I really have a problem calling that a punitive reward,
- 11:42Speaker 1: because she was in Times Square... squatting on a milk crate.
- 11:44Speaker 1: She knew what the gig was. We were all squatting
- 11:46Speaker 1: on milk crates. Maybe she shouldn't have worn a dress,
- 11:48Speaker 1: you know?
- 11:49Speaker 2: I told it that. I said, are you going to
- 11:51Speaker 2: go out in that? And it turned around and it said,
- 11:53Speaker 2: you don't like the ass on this? And it bent
- 11:55Speaker 2: over and it shook.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Frank, if you keep talking, I'm in the car. I'm
- 11:58Speaker 1: on my way home.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Oh, boy.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Well, all right. Look, so I'm just saying it's a far, far,
- 12:05Speaker 2: far Better thing I do than I never did before.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I'll give her the $ 30, 000 bonus. Thank you very much, Margaret.
- 12:13Speaker 1: You were the only female member of the crew out
- 12:15Speaker 1: in the public there. We had no studio that day.
- 12:17Speaker 1: It probably should have been incumbent upon me to make
- 12:19Speaker 1: sure that we had an indoor studio. We did not,
- 12:21Speaker 1: and you wound up squatting and, you know.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Yeah, squatting, and your earring came out of your pants.
- 12:29Speaker 1: What a jackass.
- 12:30Speaker 2: All right, well, I think it says, who's that, Dickman? Yes, sir.
- 12:33Speaker 2: All right, Dickman, I think it says it very well.
- 12:37Speaker 2: It said that it was sitting there. And here's the thing, Phil.
- 12:40Speaker 2: The $ 30, 000 bonus, you know, it doesn't have to be punitive.
- 12:43Speaker 2: We'll just say Phil Henry recognizes the great service of
- 12:46Speaker 2: Margaret Gray and what it's done for its show. And
- 12:50Speaker 2: the day it squatted in Times Square and you could
- 12:53Speaker 2: see everything. I shouldn't put it that way.
- 12:56Speaker 1: The day she squatted in Times Square.
- 12:58Speaker 2: The day she squatted in Times Square. The day it
- 13:00Speaker 2: squatted in Times Square. Times Square. Times Square. Times Square.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Times Square. And suddenly no one knew it, but its
- 13:07Speaker 2: ass was swinging in the breeze. And then next thing
- 13:13Speaker 2: you know, it was humiliated beyond anything we've ever known
- 13:18Speaker 2: before or since. Bullshit. What did you say?
- 13:22Speaker 1: I said bullshit. You want to back that up a
- 13:23Speaker 1: little bit?
- 13:25Speaker 2: All right. It was humiliated, and Mr. Henry acknowledges that.
- 13:30Speaker 2: and bonuses, Ms. Gray, for everything what it's done for
- 13:35Speaker 2: its show.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Okay. I'll do that. Boy, Phil, that's not a cheap price.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I thank you very much, Phil, for recognizing that it
- 13:42Speaker 1: was a very difficult day, and I thank you for
- 13:45Speaker 1: the bonus. You're welcome. So what about the statue?
- 13:48Speaker 3: All right.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Well, the statue, I said that my wife went through
- 13:52Speaker 2: all of this, and you're not going to have a
- 13:54Speaker 2: statue showing it sitting there squatting? Half of its ass
- 13:57Speaker 2: hanging out of its underwear.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Frank, it's not necessary. It's embarrassing. I don't want it done.
- 14:02Speaker 1: If I see it, I'm going to hire somebody to
- 14:05Speaker 1: take a sledgehammer to it.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me, Margaret? I
- 14:11Speaker 2: was going to get Globe Watson, one of the great
- 14:14Speaker 2: sculptors in the New Jersey area.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Who?
- 14:18Speaker 2: You don't know it, but Globe Watson was a fantastic man,
- 14:21Speaker 2: and it did everything, and it still does everything good.
- 14:26Speaker 1: All right, well, thanks a lot, Frank, for being on
- 14:28Speaker 1: the show.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Hold on, General.
- 14:29Speaker 1: All right, but is this all we got to do?
- 14:33Speaker 2: Is this all we got to do? What do you
- 14:35Speaker 2: want to do? I mean, you want to go down
- 14:38Speaker 2: the corner and get on a merry-go-round or something?
- 14:40Speaker 1: Frank, thank you very much for being with us and
- 14:43Speaker 1: for addressing a one-year-old controversy around Margaret squatting in the
- 14:46Speaker 1: milk crates.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Yay! Goddamn.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Hey, General, listen, I'm just doing what I do, okay?
- 14:54Speaker 2: I do what I do. You got to do what
- 14:56Speaker 2: you do. You do what you do. I do what
- 14:57Speaker 2: I do, see?
- 14:58Speaker 1: You mean you do what you do, I do what
- 15:00Speaker 1: I do?
- 15:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you do. You know what? Both of you guys can.
- 15:06Speaker 1: There it is, Frank Gray.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, you don't mind the $ 30, 000? No, I don't. No,
- 15:14Speaker 1: I think you're entitled to a bonus. We'll give you
- 15:16Speaker 1: a bonus. We'll call it a bonus for the year,
- 15:17Speaker 1: and we'll say that for services above and beyond. But
- 15:21Speaker 1: you know what? I will never forget that this was
- 15:23Speaker 1: brought up to me as a threat... of legal action.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Yeah, Mr.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Eddie, yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Oh, now let's wait just a second.
- 15:30Speaker 2: No, no. Yeah.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Knock it off, bud. You're saying, in other words, that
- 15:35Speaker 1: you would never think to give me that bonus had
- 15:37Speaker 1: this not happened. No, I'm not saying that at all.
- 15:40Speaker 1: You know, Christmas is coming up, and I was thinking
- 15:41Speaker 1: about all the loyal service that everybody here has lent
- 15:44Speaker 1: to this show and has provided me, and it's So
- 15:49Speaker 1: it's not something completely out of mind. But the fact
- 15:52Speaker 1: that you guys, you know, you were going to sue me, Margaret?
- 15:55Speaker 1: You don't know what it's like to be a woman, Phil.
- 15:57Speaker 1: She has to do the job. That's the job I
- 15:59Speaker 1: was doing for you. I didn't have the right kind
- 16:01Speaker 1: of clothing. I'm squatting on a milk crate. Suddenly I
- 16:04Speaker 1: hear a guy walking up behind me going, thar she blows.
- 16:07Speaker 1: And I turn around and I go, what's your story?
- 16:09Speaker 1: And he's pointing directly at my ass. I'm Margaret Gray. Yeah.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Who was this? Some slob walking down the street? Sorry,
- 16:22Speaker 1: she blows.
- 16:23Speaker 3: All right.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Thank you. And thank you, Frank. We'll get with you, man.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I know I hung up on you. All right, coming up,
- 16:29Speaker 1: we've got Jeff Dauter with Halloween right around the corner.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Here in California, I don't remember, it's not clear, but
- 16:36Speaker 1: I think we begin celebrating Halloween a little early around here.
- 16:39Speaker 1: It was like the third week of September, and I
- 16:41Speaker 1: started seeing skeletons and stuff all over the place. By
- 16:45Speaker 1: the way, the weather here, which has been in the
- 16:47Speaker 1: 100-degree range for The last three months, not every day,
- 16:50Speaker 1: but the upper 90s, mid-90s, lower 90s, but some days
- 16:54Speaker 1: breaking 100. Suddenly, everything is like beautiful today, man. The
- 16:58Speaker 1: temperature is in the 70s, and it's feeling good. Yeah.
- 17:02Speaker 1: All right, coming up is Jeff Dowder. And what is
- 17:05Speaker 1: it called? It's the Ghoul House that he does. They
- 17:09Speaker 1: know the Doolies do that spook-a-rama. He does Ghoul House.
- 17:13Speaker 1: What is it?
- 17:13Speaker 3: Ghoul House 99. Ghoul House 99.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Ghoul House 99. What does that mean, Ghoul House 99?
- 17:18Speaker 3: He started it in 1999, and it sounds so cool,
- 17:22Speaker 3: he doesn't want to change the name.
- 17:24Speaker 1: He doesn't want to change the name, so it's Ghoul House...
- 17:29Speaker 1: I don't care. Okay, Jeff Dauter coming up next, and
- 17:31Speaker 1: we'll talk about Ghoul House 99, which is a haunted
- 17:34Speaker 1: house that he has on Halloween every year, or every
- 17:38Speaker 1: other year, or whenever he feels like it. This is

- 18:51Speaker 1: we have on the line Jeff Dowder. Jeff, are you
- 18:55Speaker 1: in Redondo Beach right now, Jeff?
- 18:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm actually still in Temple City, Mr. Henry. We're
- 19:00Speaker 2: not going to be starring in Gould House for a
- 19:02Speaker 2: couple of weeks, so I'm in Temple City in the corner.
- 19:05Speaker 2: This is a street carnival. It's actually a parking lot carnival,
- 19:08Speaker 2: and Dark Horse is going to play at a parking
- 19:11Speaker 2: lot carnival.
- 19:12Speaker 3: You're talking about a parking lot carnival? You guys are
- 19:14Speaker 3: bigger than that.
- 19:15Speaker 2: I'm doing it as a favor for this guy's dad
- 19:18Speaker 2: who operates, he's got the octopus, and he also has
- 19:23Speaker 2: one of the toss games. So it's right at the
- 19:26Speaker 2: corner here.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Whereabouts?
- 19:27Speaker 2: He's on Las Tunas.
- 19:28Speaker 1: All right, Jeff, maybe you can find a little quieter area.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Yeah, let me, yeah, are you using that? That chair,
- 19:35Speaker 2: are you using it? Can I sit on it? Okay,
- 19:39Speaker 2: right here.
- 19:39Speaker 1: All right, Jeff, just find somewhere to sit. Yeah. I said, Jeff,
- 19:42Speaker 1: Ghoul House... The first thing we said was, why is
- 19:45Speaker 1: it called Ghoul House 99? Okay, for the.
- 19:47Speaker 2: God, man, for the 100th time... I'm telling you, okay.
- 19:51Speaker 1: I know it's because you started it in 1999, and
- 19:54Speaker 1: it sounds cool.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Ghoul House 99 is about the bitchiest name you
- 19:58Speaker 2: could have for any haunted house anywhere you could imagine.
- 20:03Speaker 2: And the fact that we had Cool House 99 before
- 20:06Speaker 2: anybody else did, you think I'm going to give that up, man?
- 20:08Speaker 2: No way. So we call it Cool House 99. And
- 20:10Speaker 2: when people say, is that the year? We go, no,
- 20:13Speaker 2: that's the speed we go at, man, in terms of
- 20:15Speaker 2: the scares that we deliver at Cool House 99. You know?
- 20:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Yeah. And so, like... That's what we do. And so
- 20:25Speaker 2: this year, Ghoul House 99 is going to be down
- 20:28Speaker 2: at Mr. Poo's. We're going to clear out two of
- 20:30Speaker 2: the back rooms, which are like mostly, it's just warehouses.
- 20:33Speaker 2: It's just like storage area for beers and stuff. We're
- 20:36Speaker 2: going to clear that out and turn that into Ghoul
- 20:38Speaker 2: House 99. So when people come into Mr. Poo's and
- 20:42Speaker 2: they have dinner, they have cocktails or whatever, and you
- 20:46Speaker 2: can also come and see Dark Horse. We're going to
- 20:48Speaker 2: be there. But then when you leave the club, okay,
- 20:52Speaker 2: to go out to your car or whatever, you go
- 20:54Speaker 2: by way of Gold House 99, okay?
- 20:57Speaker 1: So as people are exiting the club, they're led through this...
- 20:59Speaker 1: Haunted house?
- 21:00Speaker 2: Exactly, okay? And they go, okay, we'll see you tomorrow
- 21:03Speaker 2: night at Mr.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Pooh's.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Oh, ah, it's Cool House 99. And that's when the
- 21:09Speaker 2: cymbals hit, and, you know, and witches come down, and
- 21:12Speaker 2: goblins go prancing across your path, and stuff like that.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Are these special effects, Jeff, when you say goblins prance
- 21:20Speaker 1: across your path?
- 21:21Speaker 2: No, these are people hired. These are mostly the kids, Dave...
- 21:26Speaker 2: David Thomas, his kid, and Carolyn and Eleanor Greasy, their kids.
- 21:33Speaker 2: There are about four kids that we hire as Gould
- 21:35Speaker 2: House 99 Imps and Mad Dwarfs. And they go, hee!
- 21:41Speaker 2: They're pretty good, man. I taught the kids how to
- 21:43Speaker 2: do it.
- 21:44Speaker 1: What do they do?
- 21:45Speaker 2: They go scampering across your path. They look up and go, hee!
- 21:49Speaker 2: And then you keep running. And I told them, hunch
- 21:51Speaker 2: your shoulders up and keep your knees high. So it
- 21:54Speaker 2: looks like you're a very... you know, it looks like
- 21:57Speaker 2: you're a really nimble elf, but you also have a hunchback,
- 22:01Speaker 2: so you're like a nimble hunchback elf, which is, you know,
- 22:04Speaker 2: it's kind of weird if you think about it.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it sure is.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Okay, so then, um, so people go through Gold House 99,
- 22:11Speaker 2: and we have the usual, we've got the shaved head, uh,
- 22:15Speaker 2: lady who tells fortunes uh that's mrs braxton she wears
- 22:19Speaker 2: a skull cap we go to shave and then we
- 22:21Speaker 2: have the nuclear war mutants and that's that's actually i
- 22:25Speaker 2: joined them but it starts out with uh tom cappy
- 22:28Speaker 2: and bill these are all guys that are in um
- 22:32Speaker 2: these are all guys that are in suck butt okay and.
- 22:35Speaker 1: What is that a band yeah suck but how do
- 22:39Speaker 1: you get away with that How do you get away
- 22:41Speaker 1: with that, okay?
- 22:42Speaker 2: These guys, they play Mr. Food.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Okay, so the members of Suckbutt are doing what?
- 22:46Speaker 2: They play the nuclear, they play the radiation, the nuclear mutants.
- 22:50Speaker 2: So they have skull caps with, they got hair coming
- 22:52Speaker 2: out of it, and they just go, you know, like
- 22:56Speaker 2: they are mutated by the radiation. You know? You know
- 23:00Speaker 2: what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Yes, I got it, Jeff. And what's the rest?
- 23:04Speaker 2: Well, what do you mean, what's the rest? I mean,
- 23:05Speaker 2: you just do a variety of different things of people
- 23:08Speaker 2: just going, you know. And then we have Milk Duds
- 23:11Speaker 2: and baggies of chocolate candies. If you don't get scared
- 23:15Speaker 2: so that you, you know, mess your pants, you make
- 23:18Speaker 2: it to the Ghoul House 99 with some candy.
- 23:21Speaker 1: So Ghoul House 99 is going to be Mr. Pooh's win.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Well, when do you think, man?
- 23:25Speaker 1: Okay, Halloween. It's a big Halloween night at Mr.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Pooh's. That's right. And Dark Horse is going to be there.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Suck Butt opens for Dark Horse. Suck Butt, the members
- 23:33Speaker 2: of Suck Butt will be manning Mr. Pooh's. And then
- 23:37Speaker 2: when we come off our last set of the night,
- 23:39Speaker 2: which is about 11.30, we're going to end the music early.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Then we'll go in and we'll be a part of
- 23:45Speaker 2: Ghoul House 99.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Jeff Doughter, ladies and gentlemen.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Yeah!
- 23:49Speaker 1: How you doing, Jeff?
- 23:50Speaker 2: Hey, thanks a lot, Mr. Henry.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Thank you, Jeff. Jeff Doughter and Dark Horse. Google House 99. Now,
- 23:56Speaker 1: what happened? When's Spook-O-Rama? Spook-O-Rama is Bobby Dooley. That's Bobby
- 24:00Speaker 1: in Western Estates. That's a different thing. What is that?
- 24:04Speaker 3: Time to go to bed, Mr. Henry.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Oh, I got a bedtime reminder. Yeah, it's Bobby Dooley and.
- 24:08Speaker 3: What do you mean bedtime? God damn.
- 24:11Speaker 1: You got a warm bottle of milk, too? No, I don't.
- 24:15Speaker 1: It's just I don't get a good sleep, man.
- 24:17Speaker 3: So the thing.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Anyway, it reminds me to go to sleep.
- 24:19Speaker 2: All right, so.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Yeah. So Bobby and Steve Dooley, they do their spook-a-rama,
- 24:25Speaker 1: which is basically they break into somebody's house and go, boo,
- 24:28Speaker 1: or some crap like that. And if you don't get scared,
- 24:32Speaker 1: if you just stare at them and don't break... You
- 24:36Speaker 1: can't get scared. You're not allowed to show any kind
- 24:38Speaker 1: of fear. That's right. Then they give you... So what
- 24:41Speaker 1: do they give you? I think it's like a $ 50
- 24:43Speaker 1: gift certificate. A $ 50 gift certificate after they break into
- 24:47Speaker 1: your house.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Oh, isn't that what Ted Bell does at Ted's in
- 24:51Speaker 3: Beverly Hills?
- 24:52Speaker 1: Yeah, Mr.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Bell, he plays what he calls Count Tedula, okay? And
- 24:59Speaker 3: it's Tedoween.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right, Tedoween. Okay.
- 25:02Speaker 3: And when you come in, he comes out of the
- 25:04Speaker 3: side door and goes, ah, you know, and if you
- 25:08Speaker 3: don't flinch at all, you get a free steak dinner.
- 25:11Speaker 3: You know, all he does is give away steak dinners, man,
- 25:15Speaker 3: because people are always, you know, they're never flinching.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. He was complaining about that.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:21Speaker 1: So either he's got to get scarier or something.
- 25:22Speaker 3: Well, anyway, it's Tedoween, which is the week of whatever
- 25:25Speaker 3: it is.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Okay. The 31st is Halloween, but I don't know when
- 25:28Speaker 1: that falls.
- 25:28Speaker 2: All right, folks. Love you.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Can't live without you. Love you. Can't live without you.
- 25:34Speaker 1: I like that one. This is the world-famous Phil Henry Show,
- 25:36Speaker 1: executive produced by Phil Henry for the wonderful people at
- 25:40Speaker 1: Siempre Incorporated, all rights reserved on iHeart Podcasts. Yeah.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 25:52Speaker 1: You want to stop dancing, bud, and pick some of this? Yeah.
