- 0:00And. We're off.
- 0:03And we're off. We're going.
- 0:06To be OK. Hello.
- 0:08Hello. It's been years.
- 0:10It's not been years. Ages.
- 0:13We have tried to do this. For a few months.
- 0:17And life happens mostly both of us, one of us, either of us,
- 0:24just forgetting. Yeah, it was good.
- 0:27Well, to be fair, I was traveling for a long time.
- 0:31We tried to do it then, and I was like, it can't.
- 0:34I'm too. It's too much.
- 0:36Yeah. And then I came back and we
- 0:38forgot three times. Yeah, before we got.
- 0:41Here and then we kept trying to do it like after bedtime.
- 0:44And then I'm like, I have I have such high hopes for my life
- 0:49after bedtime. Oh my God.
- 0:51And it consists of May going down and me passing out.
- 0:55Mm hmm. Yeah, I do.
- 0:57I feel like I have a list of like 15 things.
- 1:00I'm like, I'm going to get the kids a bed, I'm going to load
- 1:03the dishwasher, I'll finish whatever workout I attempted to
- 1:07start later. I'll watch this show with
- 1:09Garrett. I'll write.
- 1:11Lol no I I watched one episode of Traders and then I go to bed.
- 1:16Workout. No, I try.
- 1:19If I don't do a workout first, first thing, it's it's not going
- 1:24to happen. I used to be that way now ever
- 1:29since Garrett started going back into the office five days a
- 1:34week. I use it as like my decompress
- 1:37from being on the kids and doing my own work when he gets home
- 1:41and I really like that. So more like a 445 ish time.
- 1:49That works. Yeah, because it also tells me
- 1:51to like, stop working. Oh, that's because my first
- 1:56thought always is he's home and somebody's on the kids.
- 2:00So now I should try and get like 2 to 3 hours of uninterrupted
- 2:05work in, but then I'm just working all the time, all the
- 2:09time, always. So that's so hard because the
- 2:13kids, both of your kids now are in school.
- 2:17But it's not full time. No, it's very part time.
- 2:21Yeah, 9:00 to 12:30. And I work there twice a week,
- 2:25although I had my final work day this past Monday.
- 2:28Yeah. So yeah.
- 2:31That's hard. It's.
- 2:33A lot. That's a lot.
- 2:35You work there twice a week. You only need to work there once
- 2:38a week, correct? Or is it twice because you have
- 2:41both? It's twice because I have two
- 2:42kids and there's two other families with two kids, although
- 2:45there's two sets of twins and because there's that many
- 2:49parents that have two kids in, it was like a rotation and the
- 2:53road. So I would have like every 3rd
- 2:57week of the month off from 2 days.
- 3:00Oh my God. Yeah.
- 3:01So you don't have any time without the kids.
- 3:05You have like what, three you have right now?
- 3:09I have 9. Being here.
- 3:10I have 9:00 to 12:00. Twice a week, three time.
- 3:13Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. Usually I work Monday and
- 3:17Thursday, but it it got weird this week and that some I wasn't
- 3:22supposed to work this Monday but a mom needed to switch so I took
- 3:25her Monday. She took my today.
- 3:28Yeah. Oh boy.
- 3:29But next next year, I only well, we won't dive into.
- 3:34That we'll we'll get there when our what what's coming in the
- 3:38future and Garrett's working full time now too.
- 3:44So what how are you? How are you doing that?
- 3:51Because you have lots of work to that you do do that you do.
- 3:56How are you? How are you that's.
- 4:00Such a good question. I don't know, I'm OK.
- 4:04I feel like 'cause it's really only been like a couple weeks of
- 4:12me figuring out how to do it because Garrett is working full
- 4:16time. But up until the end of March,
- 4:18he was able to do Tuesday and Wednesday half days at home.
- 4:24And then we had a week in April where it was full time, me and
- 4:29him not coming home anymore. And then it was their spring
- 4:32break and then we left for two weeks.
- 4:34So I am still technically trying to figure out how I'm doing it.
- 4:40That's great. Well, yeah, because then if he
- 4:43even the half days working from home, working from home is not
- 4:47helpful. Yeah, yeah.
- 4:50I don't. I don't know.
- 4:51I will. And now it's almost summer so.
- 4:55Do they have summer off? Well, they have a camp, but the
- 4:59camp happens in my backyard. No, Cecilia, no you're.
- 5:04I know it's fun. Insane.
- 5:06You really love having kids. I do.
- 5:09I really do. I say that as if I'm like I on
- 5:12the other. No, yeah.
- 5:14I can't. No.
- 5:15I am doing surprisingly OK if you'd asked me last week, but
- 5:23last week I was in my ludial phase and we all know how that
- 5:26goes. Everything is.
- 5:27What's that? Ludial.
- 5:29Phase, right? It's like your PMS phase.
- 5:31I've never heard it called that. Ludial.
- 5:33Yeah, it's the worst. It's your PMS.
- 5:36Where you're like, you want to kill.
- 5:38Everyone, yeah, and I can't handle anything and like
- 5:40everything feels like a big deal and.
- 5:43This week's better. This week, this week, I'm doing
- 5:47great. No, it is getting murdered this
- 5:50week. Yeah.
- 5:52Wow, that's surprising that they don't have school for the
- 5:56summer. They only has one week off.
- 5:59Holy cow, the whole summer. Yeah, they have the month of
- 6:02June off, but their teacher does a summer camp and usually she
- 6:06just hosts it in somebody's backyard because we don't pay
- 6:08for rent in our building at the the school park.
- 6:11I don't think we. Do because you're not running
- 6:12the camp. No, no, no, no, no.
- 6:14So it's like I like it because I just have to open my back door
- 6:20and be like go and then for three the full 3 1/2 hours
- 6:25because I don't have to think about leaving to pick them up.
- 6:28And then like playing with them after the playground.
- 6:30Like right now, pick up and drop off takes a long time because
- 6:35you have to think of the traffic to get there.
- 6:38And then they want to play after school.
- 6:40So like when I go to pick them up at 12:30, I'm really leaving
- 6:43at noon and I don't get home till 1:30 where it's like a
- 6:48camp. They're just there so I get the
- 6:51full 9 to 1230 of me. OK, that's actually nice.
- 6:55Yeah, it is your favorite. So that's.
- 6:56It is. It's really.
- 6:58Yeah, I don't like it. Because like, are you crazy?
- 7:01Oh my gosh, that's so funny. Wow.
- 7:04Well I only have one still and she started full time.
- 7:12I did an episode talking about preschool and choosing schools.
- 7:17And now she's been in it. She's been in it.
- 7:19How do you feel? A couple a few months now and
- 7:22she is full time, five days a week.
- 7:26Wow. And it's nice.
- 7:29Yeah, is it? And it's like still, time just
- 7:35goes by so quickly. So what are her school hours?
- 7:39So get this, I could drop her off at 7:00 in the morning.
- 7:43Oh. But we don't.
- 7:45I drop her off at 9:00 because 9 is like when they start circle
- 7:48time. So we usually like to have her
- 7:50there closer to like 83845 just so she has some time before they
- 7:57start their circle time and then we pick her up at like 4.
- 8:04Wow. Yeah.
- 8:04All right. I know.
- 8:06And while we were deciding, well for us it's like the half day,
- 8:13like it was a 15 minute drive. So it would be like, you know,
- 8:18the drive and then you're like, OK, well I can do one thing.
- 8:21And I don't know, it was more for Preston so he can work from
- 8:26home. And so I did have a little
- 8:32mental breakdown like a couple days before she went because I
- 8:35was like, well, you work all day, what am I going to do with
- 8:39my life when she's in school? Turns out like I got plenty to
- 8:45do. Turns out there's so much to be
- 8:49done. Not clean my apartment though
- 8:52that is never happened. But yeah, she really likes it
- 9:00there. It's a small school and she
- 9:05started like this week being like, I don't want to go to
- 9:08school, I want to stay home. Like this morning she was like,
- 9:11I want to stay home and I was like.
- 9:13Oh no. Well.
- 9:14Not today. But then she goes and she goes
- 9:18straight and. And has a blast.
- 9:21Yeah. So I'm like, all right, yeah.
- 9:23She's not like, crying about. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:25Or anything. But yeah, she likes it.
- 9:29And she's like making friends. And it's so cute to hear her,
- 9:32like, talk about kids at school. And she's like, Mateo's so
- 9:39funny. I like him.
- 9:40He's cute. He makes me laugh.
- 9:43He says I'm a spider play. Oh my, I love you.
- 9:48I can't believe she's in school. Honestly I can't.
- 9:51I can't wrap my head around being old enough to have like I
- 9:56can soon to be kindergartner like.
- 9:59I know. It goes fast because sky.
- 10:02Sky will be in kindergarten next year.
- 10:03No like this. This is her last week at EPNS.
- 10:10Yeah, I know, I know. We won't go into that.
- 10:15But does she know? You don't have to say where
- 10:17she's going, but do you know where?
- 10:18She's going yes and no. We can talk after.
- 10:23It's so complicated. Yes and no.
- 10:26I have so many thoughts about the schools and like the process
- 10:30of of are. You thinking private or public?
- 10:35Well, I wish I could do private. I can't afford private.
- 10:38So it's public, but like we know that she's not going to our home
- 10:43school because we went to the open house and that was so not
- 10:48an option at. All.
- 10:50And yeah, I, I don't know, because, you know, in Saint
- 10:53Louis, where we grew up, it's like every public school that
- 10:58was great. You just went to the school that
- 11:00was assigned and your parents weren't really stressed.
- 11:03The opposite experience, but maybe it's because I was in the
- 11:07city. Oh yeah, maybe.
- 11:09Or maybe my parents are just brats.
- 11:11I don't know. Well, I'm in, and I went to
- 11:13private school up until my junior year of high school, so
- 11:17I'm speaking here. That's when I switched.
- 11:20Yeah. That is a story for another,
- 11:23correct? Yes, it is.
- 11:25It is a big, big. Story You're going to have to
- 11:27have a side a couple sidebars. It's been so long since we've
- 11:33caught up that it's like, OK, this is a recap on Mommy would
- 11:37not. Yes, yes, it's not.
- 11:39Art. Oh my gosh.
- 11:42But she's going to start. Yeah, she is.
- 11:44So that will be nice. At least you'll have one that's
- 11:47in school full time regardless of where she ends up, correct?
- 11:52How are you feeling about that? You'll still have one.
- 11:55I will still have one. The joys of.
- 11:57Having yeah, I, I really, I don't.
- 12:00I'm ready for them to be in full time school and then at the same
- 12:03time I'm I'm not. So we'll see.
- 12:08Yeah, that's how. We'll see.
- 12:10It's hard. It's really hard.
- 12:12We OK, so. Let's touch on your topic.
- 12:16So mommy would OK, I just want to point out that I've had I've
- 12:24had so many people reach out who have found mommy would recently
- 12:28and are like, I really needed this And it always I just look
- 12:32directly at the camera, but it makes me like cry.
- 12:37It's so sweet, just like anyone being like, I'm so happy I found
- 12:42this podcast and I'm like, me too, honestly me too.
- 12:46Because that's the whole reason I greeted Mamua, because I was
- 12:51like, none of us know what we're doing.
- 12:53No. And it's so it's exactly that
- 12:57none of us know what we're doing.
- 12:58And everybody like the managing of the day-to-day schedules is
- 13:06so chaotic. I have to know how everybody
- 13:09else is doing it because then I feel like, well, I'm yeah,
- 13:13everybody's living in chaos. Especially parenting, acting
- 13:19lifestyles, entertainment lifestyles.
- 13:21Yeah, because the things with kids are always changing.
- 13:25Like you're like, well, then there was spring break and then
- 13:27there was this and then so and so get sick or this happens.
- 13:30But then add that on top of, oh, my career, my job is the same
- 13:37way where it's always changing because I have that with like
- 13:41with my day job, it's semi consistent with like my teaching
- 13:48jobs where I'm like, OK, well, for these few months I have
- 13:51these classes, but then it's like, well, then at the end of
- 13:54the show, it changes. It changes a little bit because
- 13:58I have, the show is in the dress rehearsal and then the summer is
- 14:03different and I'm like, what am I going to do?
- 14:05And now that May is in full time school, I, it is like, well, I
- 14:13teach after school or on the weekends and that's not going to
- 14:17work because that's when I need to see her.
- 14:21Although that is what I have been doing and I don't feel like
- 14:24I haven't seen her enough. OK.
- 14:27I feel like I have seen her enough so I don't know but I'm
- 14:32looking for a shift. Yeah, I feel.
- 14:35Day job stuff. OK.
- 14:38Just cause yeah, those hours aren't going to work if she's.
- 14:42In school, yeah, I know it is weird.
- 14:45All this to say it's nice. I feel like the mommy would of
- 14:50it all is nice because it takes away that you know, that voice
- 14:57in your head that's like, nobody else is doing this but me.
- 15:01Like nobody else is crying over how chaotic things feel all the
- 15:06time except for me. And then this like pulled back
- 15:11the curtain is like, actually, no, you're not.
- 15:13Actually, we're all crying about.
- 15:15It we're all crying all the time.
- 15:17Everybody is throwing a fit, especially when they're in their
- 15:20ludial face. Yes.
- 15:22Now that we know that that means yeah of yeah.
- 15:26And I feel like there were so many.
- 15:28I mean, there's OK now we've done five seasons.
- 15:32I know there have been so many amazing guests and I feel like.
- 15:38And I just started a newsletter, so.
- 15:42Wait, I did notice. OK, you got.
- 15:44Your emails somewhere. Put them anywhere you want,
- 15:51we'll find them to. Me, I'll do something but yeah,
- 15:56I've only sent out like a couple with like a welcome and a
- 16:00Mother's Day thing, but I think I'm going to do a few a few
- 16:06newsletters with like because I love entering the podcast with
- 16:10Lifesavers. So it's like different season,
- 16:13different Lifesavers that we've had because.
- 16:18Oh that's smart. I was going to ask what?
- 16:20What So if they sign up for the newsletter, what can they expect
- 16:26there that they can't necessarily get listening?
- 16:32I think, well, I'm definitely going to do specific links to,
- 16:37OK, well I'll do links to all those lifesavers if it's a
- 16:42specific product or a product. Or a service I guess.
- 16:46Or I, I think it's a nice way that you don't have to
- 16:53necessarily listen to the entire podcast where I can do clips and
- 16:58give you like the gist of things and give you more specifics.
- 17:03And then also just different newsletters, like specifically
- 17:11for different guests. And then you can be like, oh,
- 17:13what? Instead of like looking at the
- 17:16show notes or something like that, because my show notes can
- 17:19be. OK spitballing here, you could
- 17:24ask your guest to write a letter to their like pre parenting
- 17:33self. Like what would you say to her,
- 17:35him, them? Yeah.
- 17:38And have that in the newsletter. That could be fun because if you
- 17:41ask somebody that on the spot, they're they're going to have a
- 17:43hard time like pulling it out. But if you say, hey, and now I
- 17:47do a newsletter with every episode and yours, here's if
- 17:51you'd like, because I would read those, man, I would read.
- 17:56Those I have one that I did write to myself.
- 18:00I wrote it to we'll. Be sharing.
- 18:02It I will share. It on our socials.
- 18:06I wrote it. I don't know.
- 18:08I honestly, I don't know if I was, I must have been pregnant
- 18:12because that seems weird to do it before I was pregnant, but I
- 18:16I'm weird. I don't know.
- 18:17Do you know? Yeah, I think I did it when I
- 18:20was pretty newly pregnant and it was just kind of a oh wait, so
- 18:25it's the opposite of what you were asking.
- 18:27Like what I? Would but.
- 18:29You know what I'm saying? Yeah, Yeah.
- 18:31Mine was when I was pregnant writing to myself as a mock like
- 18:38as I don't want. You to forget.
- 18:40Yeah, where it's just like, hey, you're doing a good job.
- 18:43And I was like, yes, I am. I'm doing great.
- 18:50I'm doing it so good. I'm doing so good.
- 18:54Yeah. So that's what to expect from
- 18:56the newsletter. Lots of lots of fun things.
- 19:00Yeah, lots of fun things. Let's see what?
- 19:05OK. Well, Speaking of just like
- 19:08doing a good job, yeah. We're all doing a great job.
- 19:11Look at us. Great.
- 19:12Job. You are doing a good job.
- 19:15You are doing you. You.
- 19:16We're dangerous with a microphone and a camera.
- 19:19Don't you dare. OK, so Speaking of another, well
- 19:26not Speaking of, but talking about another season, if you
- 19:33could hear from like any mom in the industry like dream guest
- 19:42situations, we have some good, good people in the in the
- 19:47pipeline. Is that the word?
- 19:49That's a good word that I'm very excited about, but who would
- 19:54you? Oh God, I don't know.
- 20:00That's a really good question. Have you thought about it?
- 20:03No, but I'm on a spit ball. OK?
- 20:09I'm just thinking Kate, Kate Hudson, because I think I'm
- 20:12going to one of the SAG conversations with her next
- 20:14week. Yes.
- 20:16And I'm like, how are you doing? Because she seems chill.
- 20:20Yeah. And it's interesting to hear
- 20:26from people who are like, so beyond like the reality to.
- 20:35Hear from. Rihanna reality, Oh my God, she
- 20:38the way she talks about motherhood and like interviews
- 20:42that I've seen or even just like red carpet stuff, she's like
- 20:45it's the hardest. Thing yeah, I'd like to hear
- 20:49from her. I I do I feel like I would like
- 20:51to hear from somebody who's like so consistently in the chaos of
- 20:59both parenting and the industry. Not that our other guests
- 21:04haven't been, but, you know, like, traveling for months at a
- 21:10time to work on a film and then not going home after, but
- 21:13traveling to the next location to work on that for months at a
- 21:16time. Plus owning a business, you
- 21:19know, like, she's got her makeup line.
- 21:20She's got like, and it's not like her kids are older now.
- 21:25She's in the thick of like, they need my attention.
- 21:30I'm like, forming their opinions on the world.
- 21:33And the tantrums are there. Like, yeah, I think I'd like to
- 21:37hear. Yeah.
- 21:38From that. Or like Jennifer, not Jennifer
- 21:42Hudson. Jennifer Lawrence has been
- 21:45talking. Yeah, she's been on.
- 21:47Correct. Because she has her new movie
- 21:49coming out, which I'm so excited to see 'cause it's been a minute
- 21:54because she just had her second baby.
- 21:56And like, it's interesting hearing people who you're like,
- 22:00well, that's gotta be easy. You have so much, so many
- 22:04resources. And then to hear them be like,
- 22:07it's brutal. You know, like, yeah.
- 22:10What specifically is brutal for you?
- 22:13Like what is it? Yeah.
- 22:17I mean, we can all, we all have brutal parts, but it's like,
- 22:22yeah. And I, I do know her manager.
- 22:29Let's reach out. Let's reach out, shall we?
- 22:31They can't say yes if we don't ask.
- 22:33That is true, that's all I'm saying, as well as Jessica Biel
- 22:37and Justin Timberlake. Oh.
- 22:40Power couple, How did they do it?
- 22:43Do they take turns? I'd also be interested hearing
- 22:47from a couple like that, whether Jennifer Lawrence or like
- 22:52similar to Emily, our last guest of like, how do you talk about
- 22:56family planning when you're so in the thick of it?
- 22:59Like how do you decide when to take a pause from everything
- 23:04that's going on? Like, how did Jennifer Lawrence
- 23:06decide now is the time for the second baby and now is the time
- 23:10to do another film? And now's the that would also be
- 23:13interesting to me because I feel like, yes, those are
- 23:20conversations I'm starting to think about again, if we want to
- 23:24do a third, if we don't want to do a third, if we do, like,
- 23:29what's that going to look like? Especially because Sky and
- 23:32Frankie were so stacked on top of each other and now there's
- 23:35going to be a bigger age gap. Like just all of these things
- 23:38that happen around family planning that you're like, oh,
- 23:43this is what they meant by that. Yeah.
- 23:46This is what they meant by planning a family.
- 23:49Oh man, that is a that is loaded because I am still the yeah, I'm
- 23:56like, God, I feel like going on a change in here, but I feel
- 24:02like the people because I can't stop talking about the idea of
- 24:05having another one or not. And I feel like the people and
- 24:10tell me if you felt this way that knew that they weren't done
- 24:15at one like that they knew they wanted at least 2 just knew
- 24:19always like did you just know that you.
- 24:23Wanted at least more than one. We were always There's going to
- 24:27be multiple. Yeah.
- 24:29Couple. Because my sister said that,
- 24:31too. She was like, I just knew I
- 24:33wanted at least two. Yeah.
- 24:35And I was like, well, I don't know that.
- 24:37Yeah. So I'm like.
- 24:38Maybe. Yeah, I don't.
- 24:38Know, or people saying like, like when I envisioned my dinner
- 24:44table, I always envisioned too. And I'm like, I don't, I don't
- 24:50think into the future that way. So I don't yeah, like I never
- 24:53thought of getting married. I just never, I was always kind
- 24:56of like, yeah, I don't. I'll do it.
- 24:58I also have a hard time with that like picture your dinner
- 25:01table scenario because you never know what your situation's going
- 25:05to because I used to be so a picture your dinner table and I
- 25:08wanted five kids and I really thought I could handle it and
- 25:12like. That's a.
- 25:14Lot. That's a lot.
- 25:15My body had a really hard time delivering too.
- 25:18Yeah, I have had infertility issues now after the second one.
- 25:24So you can't plan for that. There's also like people in my
- 25:27life who have like, you can't envision the table because you
- 25:33there's so many. Factors.
- 25:37So many factors that are so far out of your control that like
- 25:42doing that whole picture your table in 20 years thing feels
- 25:45like such a messy space to be because we just don't all have
- 25:51the privilege of being like well I'm picturing 3 kids but that's
- 25:55true. But then you find out you're
- 25:57struggling to get one, so here you are like, yeah, everybody's
- 26:03being like, well, how many people do you want there in 20
- 26:06years? I want what I can, what I can
- 26:08maintain and properly like gear for and is going to keep me
- 26:13alive to see the table in 20 years.
- 26:15So we'll be happy with. That I think that's one of my
- 26:19fears. And I've already sobbed to like
- 26:22my parents about this and my sister and Preston and every
- 26:25person who will listen to me. Yeah, sorry, nobody talked to me
- 26:30because I will just bring this up and start trying new.
- 26:33But but the idea of also like how many kids you can be a good
- 26:39parent for, I, I feel like I might be maxed out at one.
- 26:45I'm like, 'cause I don't have the patience I thought I would
- 26:49have. And I think I don't know if I
- 26:55would be a good mom to two or the best mom.
- 26:58I was like, I think I can be a good mom to may if another one
- 27:03comes. I don't know how I feel like
- 27:06that's. Valid.
- 27:07And I feel like everybody's threshold is so different.
- 27:11I remember my dad saying I I don't know if you said it's all
- 27:15of us or I just overheard him say it's my older sister because
- 27:18she was the first to have kids. And he would always just be
- 27:22like, you'll know. Like you'll one's gonna come out
- 27:26and you'll know if you have the space for a lot more, you have
- 27:33the space for one more. Like not everybody is meant to
- 27:37have a big family. I feel like I really thought
- 27:41that was going to be me. And same, like Frankie came
- 27:45along. I feel like I am a really,
- 27:47really good mom to two. And the days when it's really
- 27:51hard, I'm like, Oh my God. I really thought I had the
- 27:57capacity for more. And I do have the capacity for
- 28:00more when they're not mine. Like I could have 10 kids at my
- 28:03house and I have so much patience and it really doesn't
- 28:07rattle me. How does that makes me feel
- 28:11guilty for not guilty but like I don't know why that is.
- 28:17I just think there's less pressure from it.
- 28:20I don't know if I feel because you care so deeply for May, I
- 28:26care so deeply for Skyler and Frankie.
- 28:29And it's our responsibility to be the one helping them through.
- 28:34Yeah, like through all the really hard stuff where it's
- 28:38like when it's other kids, I can help them get through a moment,
- 28:42but it's not my job to be like forming the boundaries around
- 28:46that moment so I can do things to help it pass quickly.
- 28:52Whereas like when I do it with Skyler and Frankie, I'm like,
- 28:54OK, how what? I don't know if I'm making
- 28:58sense, but like when they're having a meltdown or stuff, I'm
- 29:01trying to put other things in place to help my next meltdown
- 29:05and my next meltdown and my next meltdown make more sense to
- 29:08them. Slash work better and in the
- 29:12family unit whereas like when it's another kid I I'm just
- 29:15trying to help him get through that moment because it's not my
- 29:18job to. Yeah, well, and also like you
- 29:21can give in to another kid easily.
- 29:23You're like you want the cookie. Here, Yeah.
- 29:25But it's like with your own kid, you're like, OK, well I said no,
- 29:29so now I have to yeah, say no. Also you're if it's not your
- 29:35kid, they're going to behave better for.
- 29:37You well and also my kids behave better when other kids are
- 29:41around and so that's another reason why I don't mind having
- 29:46summer camp at my house or like inviting people and all of their
- 29:50kids over because because my kids are so good like when other
- 29:57kids are around so it's makes it easier for me to so.
- 30:02Because then they're not like they don't need you as much.
- 30:05They're Yeah, yeah. And and, you know, not everybody
- 30:09can do that. Like not everybody is
- 30:10comfortable with other people's kids in that capacity.
- 30:13So it's like, yeah, am I meant to have a big family?
- 30:18No. Did I think that I was?
- 30:20Yes. But I feel then that my calling
- 30:23is I'm meant to be a home where people feel comfortable bringing
- 30:26their kids and knowing that their kids are safe and taking
- 30:29care of around me. And that's just a different.
- 30:32Well, you've got that. So you're you're, you're doing
- 30:35great, so. Bring your kids over if.
- 30:36You need more? Yeah.
- 30:39We're going to splash pat it up at your place this summer after
- 30:42school. What do you think has been your
- 30:47biggest win as a mom lately? Not lately, Not the past years.
- 30:57Maybe lately. What's what's something you you
- 31:01can also say your biggest fail if you if you want to start
- 31:05with. I think my, yeah, I, I think my
- 31:11biggest win is, is, is the environment our kids are in.
- 31:20Like they will just like we say, I love you in our house so much.
- 31:30Like these kids have no doubt. And like we'll just be driving
- 31:35in the car and they'll do things like, hey, mom, guess what?
- 31:38And I'll be like what? And I'll be like I love you.
- 31:40Like it's just like that is their the I, I don't question
- 31:46it. I know that they know they're
- 31:47loved. I think that's the biggest thing
- 31:49because we're all so vocal about it.
- 31:52That's good. So that feels like that biggest
- 31:57fail is, is I feel like I'm failing through the transition
- 32:02of Garrett going back to work. And my patience with them is
- 32:05significantly less. And it doesn't help that they're
- 32:07both going through big development stages at the exact
- 32:10same time. So it feels like there's been a
- 32:13lot more yelling in the house than there usually is.
- 32:19But you know, I do know that it is a transition.
- 32:22And so I try to give us grace and, and, and with that fail
- 32:28comes the chance to set up another win, which is they,
- 32:33they've never not heard me apologize and not heard me do
- 32:36it. Like as soon as I realize we've
- 32:40all messed up so. Yeah, the idea of like my my dad
- 32:46apologizing for yelling when I was little.
- 32:48Like what? What are you?
- 32:50What? That's insane.
- 32:53I love my dad so much, but noon. Yeah, but it's yes, I would say
- 32:59that's also my biggest fail probably.
- 33:02It's just the times when I lose my patience where it's like the
- 33:11like, why are you still doing this type of thing?
- 33:15And I'm like, doesn't know That's the dumbest question.
- 33:19That's the dumbest question and unhelpful and not making her
- 33:23feel good. But then the apology or the
- 33:27conversation afterwards, you were like, I should have taken a
- 33:32breath. And she'll say that where she'll
- 33:35be like, I need a minute, give me space.
- 33:39And I'm like, yes, go for it, or.
- 33:43Space make. Or the other day, I think we got
- 33:46into the elevator and I was like and did a breath and she goes,
- 33:52why you breathe like that? Why'd you breathe like that?
- 33:56And I was like, I was like, I just needed a deep breath.
- 34:01I was like, we're just trying to get in the car.
- 34:04I just needed a breath because I it's too early to lose any
- 34:09patients and I'm having a good morning with you.
- 34:13Yeah. And so, yeah, my biggest win.
- 34:17I was going to say, is that your win or is there something else?
- 34:19Because the fact that she's like, give me space,
- 34:23communicating at 3 when we'll take it.
- 34:27Although I'm like, can you not? I'm like, well now you need to
- 34:31brush your teeth. I'm not.
- 34:32I don't know how to give you space.
- 34:35Let's work together. I yeah, I think though, I just,
- 34:41she's my biggest one. She's so I feel like you see
- 34:46those posts recently that are like, the weirder your kid is,
- 34:50the more comfortable. And I'm like, she's beyond like
- 34:53she's so funny. And I'm like, I just feel like
- 35:00when Preston and I are together and like we see her smiling,
- 35:04we're like, OK, we're doing something like she's fed, she's
- 35:08happy, she's safe. Oh God.
- 35:12And when she'll I say, she came up with this on her own, but now
- 35:17we'll tell her we say mommy and daddy and she goes, we'll always
- 35:22keep me safe. And I'm like, but she said that
- 35:29to us out of nowhere. She said mommy and daddy will
- 35:32always keep me safe and so now we say it all the time and I'm
- 35:35like. Oh my God.
- 35:38I. And then we try to follow up
- 35:41with the best we can. Yeah, yeah.
- 35:44Yeah, we will keep you because then I'm like, I mean, you
- 35:46didn't break your arm last year. I'm.
- 35:49Like, we'll keep you as safe as we can.
- 35:51Yeah, as safe, but I know, my God, aren't they just.
- 35:58Yeah, I oh, wait, we're biased, but our kids are great.
- 36:01They, I just, they are. We really do have good kids.
- 36:04Yeah. They are good kids.
- 36:06We wait. There was another another a
- 36:09funny fail that I made the mistake of asking May if she
- 36:13wanted a sibling because I was like, should mommy have another
- 36:16baby? Should would you if mommy had a
- 36:18baby in her belly, Like what do you think about that?
- 36:20And then like, I was like, well, you wouldn't, I was like, or do
- 36:24you like being the only baby? And she was like, mom, I'm not a
- 36:26baby. And I was like, oh, kill me.
- 36:29But then we went to the park after this conversation, she
- 36:32says to the this other mom at the park, she's like, my mom has
- 36:35a baby in her belly. And I was like, well that was my
- 36:40bad for asking a three. Year old for advice.
- 36:42She's not talking about me. I was like sorry.
- 36:44Oh my God, Yeah, I do. I it's pretty funny.
- 36:48It's interesting because Sky and Frankie both really.
- 36:53And Yeah, I don't know, Garrett and I keep going back and forth,
- 36:58but Skyler will say things like Mom, I would like to complete
- 37:02our family with. Yeah, First of all, who's?
- 37:05Teaching. Her to complete our family who
- 37:08did this? I'd like to complete our family
- 37:11with one more girl for me, one more boy for France, and baby
- 37:16chicks. I'm like baby.
- 37:18Chicks, you're like. What?
- 37:20Oh my God, that's. Really cute, yeah.
- 37:23And so that. Really.
- 37:25That that, Yeah. I love that.
- 37:28She really, she really wants a baby in the house.
- 37:31And so we'll see. We'll see.
- 37:33You got to just find a friend that's having a baby.
- 37:36Oh well, that's the issue. It's because so many moms at the
- 37:38school have babies. Come on over.
- 37:42Yeah, always, Yeah. Shout out to all the babies at
- 37:46school. I know.
- 37:48I really, Yeah. I really think I want one more.
- 37:52I don't know if I could do 2, but I think I could do 1.
- 37:55So I don't know. We'll see.
- 37:56I. It's got a both parents got a
- 37:59one. You keep hearing, and I feel
- 38:01like I've said it a million times so I really should like
- 38:04Google it and make sure that it is true.
- 38:07But I did hear that 3 that parents with three are the least
- 38:15stressed, which I find very. Interesting.
- 38:19I want you to research that. Yeah, I need.
- 38:22To I love you so much. Good thing I don't.
- 38:24Have like something in front of me I can Google with, but yeah,
- 38:29I find that very interesting. And I'm like, why not one, not
- 38:34two? I could tell you not one, not 2,
- 38:36not 4. Yeah, I don't know.
- 38:39I've no experience with the family.
- 38:40Oh, that's a lie. Oh my God.
- 38:42If my sister listens to this, she's going to be like, hello, I
- 38:44have 3 kids. I'm like I've nobody in my life
- 38:47and I have 3 kids. Never met anybody with never
- 38:49you. Don't know a single person with
- 38:52who has only three kids. But it's like, how do you ask
- 38:56parents that are in that? Like how did?
- 38:58Also how did they? Also, it's like you, you can't
- 39:03determine what your kids like temperaments and things are
- 39:06going to be so like in that research.
- 39:08Did they all have? Yeah, easy going.
- 39:11I know that's also my my whole back of having another one where
- 39:15I'm like, I've gotten off so easy.
- 39:18Yeah, I don't want to rock the boat.
- 39:20I don't think I want to test it. I want to test it.
- 39:23I did get rid of a lot of maize baby clothes though, and then
- 39:28cried a little bit. But yeah.
- 39:31OK, well, let's wrap it up. What's What's your lifesaver
- 39:34today? Oh.
- 39:38I think mine's just just a little sweet treat, like a
- 39:42little ice, a little ice coffee. I I think my lifesaver.
- 39:48Oh God, let's get coffee after this.
- 39:50Let's do that. That's a good one.
- 39:52A sweet treat really does. Honestly, a sweet treat gets you
- 39:56through a lot. I think my lifesaver is knowing
- 40:05when it's time to switch the environment.
- 40:09Like like yesterday we were home, they got home from school,
- 40:13they both like had rested enough and I could tell that they were
- 40:17getting antsy together and I was like time to run errands.
- 40:20And immediately fine like me, finally picking up on their
- 40:27energy before their energy gets bad.
- 40:31Lifesaver because I would say 8 out of 10 times they just need
- 40:38something new. Yeah.
- 40:39And whether that that switching of the environment is me just
- 40:43closing my computer for 30 minutes and playing with them or
- 40:48just going on a quick walk, just getting in the car and driving
- 40:52to go pick up a sweet treat really quick.
- 40:55But I think that is my lifesaver is, is knowing when it's time to
- 40:59switch something. I love it.
- 41:01Yeah. Because it really it'll it'll
- 41:03fix a lot for them. Well, great.
- 41:06Well, let's go switch up our environment and get out of.
- 41:08Here and get a coffee time for our sweet treat, OK?
- 41:11Well, here's to Season 6 coming up.
- 41:14Well, here's to five seasons. Yeah, Congrats.
- 41:18And and coming up on 6, we got some good stuff coming.
- 41:24Yeah, now we've got a newsletter, I know, with even
- 41:26more good stuff. You know what?
- 41:28We're doing great. Kell, Annette.
- 41:30Also, before we wrap, I wanted to say this going back to why I
- 41:34love Mommy Woods so much. Yes, let's end on this.
- 41:37Let's end on this because I really do.
- 41:41People love talking about their kids.
- 41:44Oh yeah. And they don't get to do it
- 41:47enough. And they love talking about
- 41:49their kids and a space that's actually like, let me tell you
- 41:52why my kid is cool and not like a, you know, because you have a
- 41:56tendency to get with other mom friends, especially if they're
- 41:59not in the same like career space as you.
- 42:02And all you want to do at those points is like vent about all of
- 42:07the bad stuff to just help you get through through the neck,
- 42:10whatever that like this space, you get to come on and talk
- 42:15about how cool like your kids are and like all of the cool
- 42:21things that they get to see because you are in the
- 42:24entertainment industry is really that is is.
- 42:30So I don't think parents have a space to do that enough.
- 42:35And I love it so much. Well, here it is.
- 42:37Here it is. You want to talk about your kids
- 42:39and how cool they are, reach out.
- 42:42We're here, baby. Yeah, so anyway, I did want to
- 42:45make sure I said that because it's one of my favorite pieces.
- 42:48So there you have it. All right.
- 42:52And that's it. Cheers, Mommy Wood.
- 42:53Cheers. And that is a look into Mommy
- 42:58Wood. Thank you so much to my.
