- 0:00Good morning, everyone, and welcome to a very cool and awesome day of Have Faith, Let It Begin.
- 0:07Do you want to know why? I can tell you why. Because today is May 19th.
- 0:13What does that mean? It's a Monday and Dr. E is back.
- 0:17And we haven't even told him what the episode is going to be about.
- 0:20And neither are you going to know until we come back from this introduction.
- 0:23Because Have Faith, Let It Begin. Dr. E is back. Starts right now.
- 0:30It's Monday, and you know what that means. Welcome to Have Faith. Let it begin.
- 0:37Podcast of inspiration. It's a podcast of hope.
- 0:42It's a podcast of faith, and it's a podcast of friendship.
- 0:47Here is your host, Angel Santana, and special co-host, Dr. E.
- 0:53We're a three podcast time. That's it, man. Let's rock and roll in three, two, one.
- 0:59Hello, everyone, and welcome to the fun times with Mr.
- 1:03Dr. E on Monday. Have faith, let it begin. Dr. E, we had an amazing,
- 1:08amazing week. Can you do me a favor?
- 1:10I know these people don't, I don't think they realize what type of things that
- 1:16we do together on a side note, in addition to you being on our Monday podcast,
- 1:20how much you put into your podcast.
- 1:23And I think it's really cool that it would be an opportunity to say,
- 1:27hey, we got two monstrous shows coming up with Talaya.
- 1:30And also we just did an amazing interview with a Marine vet.
- 1:35Talk to us, man. Share with everybody what's coming up. Oh my God.
- 1:38There's such great stuff going on in the croc world, the podcast world for our
- 1:43cancer survivor thrivers.
- 1:45Talaya, who is one of our favorite people ever, is a cancer doula.
- 1:49And if you don't know what that is, you have to listen to the episode,
- 1:52who lives in Minnesota, who we befriended, who's a pioneer in helping cancer
- 1:58survivor thrivers get through their survivorship.
- 2:01And she's a survivor herself. So a lot of great things on that podcast.
- 2:05She's a delightful woman, very intelligent, very elegant, very dignified,
- 2:10and extraordinarily smart and helpful.
- 2:13I urge you to listen to that podcast. And then this past week,
- 2:17we interviewed my damn friend and coworker, David Garcia.
- 2:21Radiation therapist at Garnet Medical Center, who had to walk in the shoes of
- 2:27the people he treats and deal with survivorship from his own personal end.
- 2:31And he's also a Marine veteran, so a great homage to our people,
- 2:38to our friends, to our American comrades who have served in the military.
- 2:45So I think that we've had two very exciting weeks in the croc world.
- 2:50But I'm here to talk about Half Faith Let It Begin.
- 2:53What do you want to talk about there, brother? You know, I wanted to talk to
- 2:57you, and it's a great segue.
- 2:58And the reason why we promoted your podcast is because, you know,
- 3:03at one point or another, your podcast and my podcast together somehow integrate.
- 3:08And I was thinking about an episode, and it's so interesting because I thought
- 3:12about this way before we did the interview with a gentleman that's going to be on on June 1st.
- 3:16And it got me thinking, how often in the work environment that we do or in anything
- 3:22that we do, do things that happen at work?
- 3:26Come home with us? And when they do, how can we separate work from family?
- 3:34How is it that people have that difficulty of not letting that negativity when it is negative?
- 3:43How do you stop it from infiltrating the home?
- 3:46And that's really what today's episode is about. So I want to see it from your
- 3:50perspective as a doctor, and then I'm going to relate it toward an everyday
- 3:55911 type of switchboard scenario.
- 3:58Okay. Yeah, absolutely. Well, you know, I always think, maybe I don't say it
- 4:05enough, but when we go to work in a healthcare environment,
- 4:10whether it's you work in the emergency room, whether you work in the cancer
- 4:14center, whether you work in the operating
- 4:16room, or whether you work on the switchboard, the minute we clock in,
- 4:21you know, it's a very, very stressful and emotionally draining, you know, shift.
- 4:30And whether your shift is four hours for part-timers, eight hours,
- 4:3612 hours, in my case, it's 14, 16 hours a day.
- 4:39It is absolutely like, you know, basically punching a clock and then going into
- 4:46a foxhole and there's bullets flying And there's, you know,
- 4:51bombs exploding and there are people that are just in the worst moment of their
- 4:57life and you're expected to carry them on your back.
- 5:00And then you're expected to clock out, get in your car and go home and pretend
- 5:07like nothing ever happened.
- 5:09I don't know if that's possible, Angel. And it was really important for me to
- 5:14point out that you don't have to be a doctor or you don't have to be a nurse
- 5:19to experience the stress of working in healthcare because we're not cooking
- 5:24steaks or burgers or hot dogs. We're not making pizzas.
- 5:29We're not cutting lawns. We're not even taking money at a register for some
- 5:36transaction. You know, we're dealing with lives and souls and I'm not sure if
- 5:42it's possible to turn it off.
- 5:44We have to, to some extent, otherwise none of us would have partners or spouses.
- 5:50None of us would have children that would be speaking to us.
- 5:52None of us would have friends because we would be too shell-shocked to even have relationships.
- 5:59So I think that there has to be a balance that every person has to try to enact.
- 6:05And I guess the question that begs to be answered is I can tell you how I do it, but Angel,
- 6:11I want to hear how you do it, how you able to come home and care for your two
- 6:15young children and be the great husband that you are to Rachel and the great
- 6:20son you are to Angel and Lucy.
- 6:23Like, how do you do it? You know, it's because there's the story I'm sure you're
- 6:27going to tell us about, you know, the 911 call. It is.
- 6:31It's difficult because, well, first thing foremost, I do believe you have to love what you do.
- 6:37And now, mind you, there's a lot of us that'll sit there and go,
- 6:39well, I'm out, right? Some people just don't like their job.
- 6:42Let's be real. I would be lying to our audience if that weren't true.
- 6:46For me, I love what I do. However, there are times dealing with people that
- 6:53will test you, will tell you where you can take your advice or where you can
- 6:57take your extension and where you can shove it.
- 6:59To be very blunt and it will get the best of you and it will try to steal and
- 7:06sneak up your and take your joy so how do i do it i have learned this is why
- 7:11i brought it up i have learned that.
- 7:14For those of you that have that spiritual background, it is best to take a few
- 7:18seconds, whether it's in peace, in quiet, as you're walking into those doors,
- 7:24say a quick prayer, say your Lord's Prayer, say anything that you can that would
- 7:29make you feel good. It could be a lyrics to a verse of a song.
- 7:32Walk in with a smile on your face and try to walk back to your vehicle the same
- 7:37way you walked in, even if it's bad.
- 7:40But let's be honest, Dr. E. Open lines of communication got us the relationships that we got.
- 7:47Being honest and allowing yourself the opportunity to say, hey, hon, I had a bad day.
- 7:51Hey, husband, I had a bad day. Hey, wife, I had a bad day.
- 7:55And see where that leads you. Sometimes you'll open up. Sometimes you don't.
- 7:59On a segue to that, me trying to help my parents out who are reaching the age,
- 8:06which is what I like to talk about the next episode we're on the air.
- 8:08How do we get to the point where we start to take care of those that have taken
- 8:12care of us, meaning our parents, our grandparents, and how is it that you try
- 8:17to put yourself in that position and say, wow, I'm there now.
- 8:20It's my time to take care of them. So really it's just open lines of communication,
- 8:24allowing yourself to let God take over and not allow the negativity to get the
- 8:30best of you and to leave it at the door, but still announce to your better half
- 8:36that you had a crappy day.
- 8:39God bless. I think that's well said. And thank you for giving us that honest
- 8:44advice. Will you lead us in prayer, my friend? Absolutely.
- 8:47Heavenly Father, we thank you for another great episode. We thank you for having Dr. Eon.
- 8:51He is a very busy guy and he takes the time because he enjoys our show.
- 8:56He takes the time because he enjoys his patience.
- 8:59And I take the time because of the same reasons, because God provided me a best friend.
- 9:04God provided me an audience. God provided me a gift. God provided all of us a talent.
- 9:10And God has provided us ears that are giving us the opportunity to listen to today's message.
- 9:15So if you're struggling, if you're a person that is dealing with mental health,
- 9:19if you're a person that needs a prayer, this is what I'd like to do.
- 9:23Moving forward, 845-391-2312. That is our new cell phone.
- 9:31You can reach out to me, text me, and I will send you back a prayer.
- 9:36That is my prayer for you this morning. I want to thank you and always remember
- 9:40that God loves you, that God believes in you, and that God is never going to leave your side.
- 9:44From all of us here, never forget.
- 9:47Faith, let it begin, baby. Have it going, guys.
