- 0:11Speaker 1: Guys, there's only one band we'll ever battle dance. Can
- 0:14Speaker 1: you guess who? Nickelback.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Oh, right.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Well, yeah, right. We say that in a song. But
- 0:23Speaker 1: also Nickelback. Oh, we'll also battle dance Nickelback. Anytime. Any day.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Come for us. Okay, so listen. We're on tour. Currently.
- 0:31Speaker 1: We're officially on tour. We're on tour.
- 0:33Speaker 3: We played a few cities. We played Boston. We played
- 0:36Speaker 3: New Hampshire, Toronto.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Next up is Washington, D.C. That's tomorrow. Also, they just
- 0:41Speaker 1: turned on fall. They turned it on.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Fall is here. It's just spices everywhere. Quickly, because we
- 0:46Speaker 3: want to get to our guests. I'm going to talk
- 0:47Speaker 3: through some of my highlights so far. Obviously, opening night, epic.
- 0:51Speaker 3: But the best part about the whole night was actually
- 0:54Speaker 3: not the show and not trying to make anybody mad.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Whoa, hold on. It's what happened backstage. Before or after?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Inside baseball.
- 1:01Speaker 1: During the show, did you have to take a shit? No, actually,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I was fine.
- 1:06Speaker 3: I didn't have to.
- 1:06Speaker 4: You did. Wow.
- 1:07Speaker 1: You always do. I got to pre-show shit out.
- 1:09Speaker 3: We have a quick change, which is our space to
- 1:12Speaker 3: quickly change before the next piece of the performance. And Malti, Marie,
- 1:16Speaker 3: my daughter, and Priyanka were there. And the protocol is
- 1:20Speaker 3: to sort of knock.
- 1:21Speaker 1: But there's no door.
- 1:22Speaker 3: It's built into the stage. It's just like curtains, basically.
- 1:24Speaker 3: You can't knock a curtain. And Malti was very excited.
- 1:26Speaker 3: And obviously, she's four and a half. She doesn't know
- 1:28Speaker 3: what's going on. So she just kind of burst into
- 1:30Speaker 3: the room. Luckily, we were all in our boxer briefs
- 1:33Speaker 3: and stuff and tank tops. I was in my skims, actually.
- 1:38Speaker 3: She looks at us and she goes, oh, you're in
- 1:40Speaker 3: summer clothes. She's like, oh, you're put on summer clothes.
- 1:43Speaker 1: It reminded me so much of that incredible meme or
- 1:46Speaker 1: video of the guy that's on like news talk show.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Then his wife walks in and tries to collect the children.
- 1:51Speaker 5: It's great.
- 1:52Speaker 1: It becomes chaos. And there's a kid on one of
- 1:53Speaker 1: those walkers. It's my favorite video, and that's kind of
- 1:55Speaker 1: what reminded me of Malty. You were like, oh, oh, oh,
- 1:58Speaker 1: because you're in your summer clothes. It was perfect. It
- 1:59Speaker 1: was so funny. It was great. We were in our
- 2:02Speaker 1: summer clothes. Speaking of summer and... Okay, ready?
- 2:05Speaker 3: Summer.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Summer is also to do with the ocean. Ocean is
- 2:09Speaker 2: near a dessert. He's working on a conspiracy based on
- 2:13Speaker 2: Easter eggs.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Sometimes when you have <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 2:35Speaker 2: <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I did catch that great flow chart, Joe. It was beautiful.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I could see the whole... He really drew the picture.
- 2:49Speaker 2: From very far away back to connecting this and that.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I'm going to have to ask you about Cake by
- 2:53Speaker 2: the Ocean. I need to understand.
- 2:55Speaker 1: More of this. I've got a few. It depends on
- 2:58Speaker 1: what the questions are. Taylor Hanson. Hanson. Taylor Hanson. That's
- 3:04Speaker 1: just accidental, but it works, though. I'm not the first
- 3:08Speaker 1: person to say that. That's probably been on many signs
- 3:10Speaker 1: throughout your career. Thank you so much for being on
- 3:12Speaker 1: our pod. We are thrilled to have you on. It's
- 3:14Speaker 1: always fun when we have friends on. Congrats on everything. Kevin,
- 3:18Speaker 1: are you taking a selfie or a photo of Taylor?
- 3:20Speaker 6: I'm taking a photo of Taylor to send to Dina,
- 3:22Speaker 6: my sister-in-law, who's been a longtime fan. big time Hanson
- 3:25Speaker 6: fan who was wearing the shirt the other night and
- 3:28Speaker 6: voting for you.
- 3:29Speaker 1: That was a part of the, they believe took down
- 3:31Speaker 1: the internet.
- 3:33Speaker 2: So yes, dancing with the stars is, uh, bringing people together.
- 3:35Speaker 2: And that's so awesome. Please give her my best.
- 3:38Speaker 1: That is absolutely well.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Congrats, uh, on the show. It's very exciting. Dance with
- 3:42Speaker 3: the stars. Um, you have now done what two performances
- 3:46Speaker 3: we have two or two weeks in, we are, I've
- 3:48Speaker 3: made it through a couple. And again, I don't know
- 3:50Speaker 3: how much, you know, connected you guys are to this.
- 3:52Speaker 3: I have to say, this is an, a major event
- 3:55Speaker 3: to do this show. I just, anybody who thinks about it,
- 3:57Speaker 3: it is an absolute butt kicker.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Um, it's been a blast. You're getting ripped.
- 4:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:02Speaker 1: You're getting jacked, dude. Are you sore everywhere?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Everywhere.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Everything hurts. Like you guys are, you guys are very fit.
- 4:10Speaker 1: You take care of yourself.
- 4:10Speaker 2: So are you, but I mean like, I'm just trying
- 4:12Speaker 2: to get to Jonas level, but we can't, we can't
- 4:15Speaker 2: dance though.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Feet just hurt different. Have you had previous dancing experience?
- 4:21Speaker 1: Not really.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I mean, I feel like you guys, we have some comparable,
- 4:25Speaker 2: you know, worlds here. You've, you have to move, you
- 4:28Speaker 2: have to, you're a performer, you know, you've, you've learned,
- 4:30Speaker 2: you know, you kind of know your, I know how
- 4:31Speaker 2: to move on a stage. I love being on stage,
- 4:33Speaker 2: but to actually dance. No, I mean, it's like, get
- 4:36Speaker 2: a guitar, get a keyboard. I mean, that's been our whole,
- 4:39Speaker 2: whole career. And, um, this whole thing is like a
- 4:42Speaker 2: brain reset, total brain reset. So when you got the call,
- 4:45Speaker 2: was it an obvious yes? Or were you like, uh,
- 4:47Speaker 2: let me sit with the fam.
- 4:49Speaker 1: And discuss like what what led you to go you
- 4:52Speaker 1: know what like okay i'm gonna go for it you
- 4:54Speaker 1: know this is like i'm gonna give it a try
- 4:56Speaker 1: like because honestly a million hats off to you i
- 4:59Speaker 1: think this is like something that it takes a lot
- 5:01Speaker 1: of guts to go and do this and also like
- 5:04Speaker 1: once you say yes then you're like okay wait now
- 5:06Speaker 1: i've got no i'm and you yeah you know you're
- 5:09Speaker 1: a sibling i'm sure you're competitive you're like i'm gonna
- 5:11Speaker 1: i'm gonna win this i'm gonna.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Go for it yeah I mean, honestly, the comp, the
- 5:16Speaker 2: things you guys probably have a lot of similar thoughts
- 5:19Speaker 2: going through the journey you've been on. You've put yourself,
- 5:21Speaker 2: you put yourself out there all the time. But you
- 5:23Speaker 2: decide how you, like, what do you want to share? Like,
- 5:26Speaker 2: what thing do you actually think you're going to do well?
- 5:28Speaker 2: And this show is, it feels like it's having such
- 5:31Speaker 2: an amazing moment. It feels like it's one of those
- 5:33Speaker 2: things that people are getting around the kitchen table and
- 5:35Speaker 2: they're actually like talking and sharing from grandma down to,
- 5:39Speaker 2: you know, teenagers, right? I mean, there's just not very
- 5:41Speaker 2: many things like that. And I, when I got asked,
- 5:44Speaker 2: I thought, you know, this is, feels like the time
- 5:47Speaker 2: to say yes, if there ever was. And yes, I
- 5:50Speaker 2: absolutely want to do well. But I'm genuinely taking it
- 5:53Speaker 2: a dance at a time, guys. I am, every week,
- 5:56Speaker 2: like this is no joke. This is really an intense,
- 5:59Speaker 2: you've got to, you know, everything.
- 6:01Speaker 1: You bring everything. Well, that's awesome. And then this week
- 6:03Speaker 1: is going to be Yacht Rock. Is that right?
- 6:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay. You guys got good producer notes.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 6: So you know a lot about Yacht Rock. Like, you
- 6:12Speaker 6: know your music, you know your vibe. Did you get
- 6:14Speaker 6: to select your song or is it kind of selected
- 6:16Speaker 6: for you? How does the format work?
- 6:18Speaker 1: Well, so the thing about the show, I have to
- 6:19Speaker 1: give props to the show. They have so many moving parts, right?
- 6:22Speaker 1: You've got dancers, you've got, you know, they're like all
- 6:25Speaker 1: the outfits are custom designs.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:27Speaker 2: And they pick themes and they say, Hey, what about
- 6:30Speaker 2: this theme? And they start throwing ideas around and they've
- 6:32Speaker 2: given us a lot of feedback and pretty much out
- 6:34Speaker 2: of the gate, you know, they said, what, you know,
- 6:36Speaker 2: yacht rock, when even that term is so funny, cause
- 6:39Speaker 2: it was started off as kind of a tongue in
- 6:40Speaker 2: cheek thing.
- 6:41Speaker 1: And now people are just like, Oh yeah, that's what
- 6:42Speaker 1: this is.
- 6:43Speaker 2: So, I mean, some of the greatest records, ever, you know,
- 6:46Speaker 2: I mean, talking about all notes and the doobie.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I mean, all of it. So we're doing what a
- 6:52Speaker 1: fool believes. Classics. Oh yeah. Come on, come on, dude.
- 6:58Speaker 6: That song is so stinking hot. You already did his song.
- 7:02Speaker 6: So he's going to come in and sing for you. Hey,
- 7:04Speaker 6: so let me back up. I texted Joe when I learned.
- 7:07Speaker 6: So last week it was super fun to do cake
- 7:09Speaker 6: by the ocean. That was the song we danced to
- 7:12Speaker 6: and was a great song to dance to.
- 7:15Speaker 1: You crushed it, dude. You were incredible.
- 7:18Speaker 2: And so I just want you guys to know if you,
- 7:22Speaker 2: you know, you got to just come into the ballroom,
- 7:24Speaker 2: just pop in.
- 7:24Speaker 1: You guys got all these shows. We're on our way
- 7:26Speaker 1: that way. The invite is extended. We're there near the finale.
- 7:29Speaker 1: So you better keep winning. So I got to hold on.
- 7:32Speaker 1: You got to keep doing your thing. No, man, you
- 7:34Speaker 1: crushed it. And when I got the text, so for
- 7:36Speaker 1: those that are the listener watching, Listener watching?
- 7:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 3: I like it.
- 7:40Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? It's a podcast. It's all
- 7:43Speaker 1: the things. Well, you know, with Hulu and Disney +, yes,
- 7:46Speaker 1: it is. The watcher listening. You know, you text me
- 7:48Speaker 1: and you're like, hey, I'm dancing to Cake by the
- 7:50Speaker 1: Ocean for Dancing with the Stars this week. And we
- 7:53Speaker 1: went back and forth and I was like, dude, I'm
- 7:55Speaker 1: so excited for you. This is going to be amazing.
- 7:57Speaker 1: You're very supportive. And I got to watch like a
- 8:00Speaker 1: little bit of the tease and then watching the actual
- 8:03Speaker 1: performance was just, I was blown away. I'm so happy
- 8:05Speaker 1: for you. Thank you, man. You know, I think you're
- 8:09Speaker 1: only as strong as your partner, right? And you have
- 8:11Speaker 1: an incredible partner in this.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Dude, Britt is, I mean, all these pros are unbelievable.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I mean, truly, like the respect for the craft of
- 8:19Speaker 2: these dancers is, I'm totally like bowing down. But I,
- 8:24Speaker 2: you know, Britt is phenomenal. She's sort of like the
- 8:27Speaker 2: coach of the coaches. And you watch the way she
- 8:29Speaker 2: works with, they're all incredible. But the reason I say
- 8:31Speaker 2: that is because she also, when they go on tour,
- 8:33Speaker 2: she's the like captain. So she's working through- like how
- 8:36Speaker 2: to execute. They did like 90 shows last year, guys.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I mean, this is so crazy. Um, and so I
- 8:42Speaker 2: just think about being on tour with a, like a band,
- 8:44Speaker 2: let alone every stinking night, like the way they hit
- 8:48Speaker 2: their bodies.
- 8:49Speaker 1: This just is a grind, but she's, it's been phenomenal. We,
- 8:52Speaker 1: we clicked right away. Um, we're just having fun. That's great.
- 8:56Speaker 1: That's great.
- 8:57Speaker 3: We're going to bring her out in a second to
- 8:58Speaker 3: chat with us as well. Um, but I wanted to
- 9:00Speaker 3: ask you, uh, the families with you out there in
- 9:02Speaker 3: LA while you're doing this or are they back in?
- 9:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Yeah. Families.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Families with me. I mean, I've been spending more
- 9:07Speaker 1: and more time in LA just kind of, Oh, that's right.
- 9:09Speaker 6: You mentioned that last time we saw you, you know,
- 9:12Speaker 6: casually when they popped up on our show as our
- 9:14Speaker 6: special guest was the greatest day ever.
- 9:16Speaker 1: It was awesome.
- 9:18Speaker 2: You guys are very, very kind. You're always been very generous. Honestly,
- 9:20Speaker 2: that was such a fun thing. We loved getting to
- 9:22Speaker 2: sit in with you guys and I'm always so gracious. And,
- 9:26Speaker 2: but yeah, lots of things going on. I mean, I'm,
- 9:28Speaker 2: I'm working on some new music, working on some solo
- 9:30Speaker 2: stuff and just kind of being creative. And honestly, this,
- 9:34Speaker 2: just doing this show and saying yes to it was
- 9:37Speaker 2: sort of like, you know, this is a season of
- 9:39Speaker 2: trying new things and, and just jumping in and doing
- 9:42Speaker 2: stuff that I'd not have, would have not thought.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I was going to do. Well, you have our numbers
- 9:46Speaker 1: on your, when you're ready to share music, we'd love
- 9:48Speaker 1: to hear. I'd like to know too, is it like,
- 9:50Speaker 1: what's the Hanson viewing party for this? I mean, because
- 9:54Speaker 1: there's a lot of you. Yeah, they're bringing in the
- 9:56Speaker 1: call numbers. You have seven kids, right? I have seven kids.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Between that and the cousins, there's like 20... Seven cousins.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Wow.
- 10:06Speaker 1: So when like the calls open up, there's just like
- 10:08Speaker 1: a little like from one little area in the world.
- 10:12Speaker 2: It's kind of a guarantee. I've got, you know, got
- 10:14Speaker 2: this in the bag. We just call the Hanson family.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Block out that area. But I just envision like a
- 10:22Speaker 2: blow up projector in the backyard. Like who's hosting this
- 10:27Speaker 2: viewing party or they're all watching at home.
- 10:29Speaker 1: I'm sure. Are your brothers being supportive through this process?
- 10:31Speaker 1: I'm sure.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Yeah, everybody's wished me luck and said, go for it. And,
- 10:36Speaker 2: you know, it's honestly one of the coolest things about this.
- 10:39Speaker 2: I haven't really done competition stuff. I mean, you do music,
- 10:41Speaker 2: you get out there, you hope the world likes it.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I guess that's kind of a competition in a way.
- 10:45Speaker 2: But like going and being judged as you go and
- 10:48Speaker 2: learn something is bizarre and kind of a different headspace.
- 10:52Speaker 2: But what's been cool is just seeing... just the good feelings.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Like there's so many people just shouting out, Hey, I'm
- 10:58Speaker 2: watching you.
- 10:58Speaker 1: We're rooting for you.
- 10:59Speaker 2: And a lot of hometown, you know, vibes. And so
- 11:02Speaker 2: that's been really fun. And yes, family for sure.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Do you feel like, because we've been lucky enough to
- 11:07Speaker 1: have moments where we're doing some acting or, or trying
- 11:10Speaker 1: new things in our career. Like it does feel good
- 11:14Speaker 1: to be nervous again, because when you go on stage
- 11:16Speaker 1: and Taylor, you're a fantastic performer and songwriter. And, And
- 11:21Speaker 1: it's like, at some point you're like, all right, I've
- 11:23Speaker 1: got this.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Like, I know, I know I can, I know I
- 11:25Speaker 2: can control this room. I know I can feel most comfortable.
- 11:28Speaker 2: I'm in, I'm in the right place. But then you
- 11:30Speaker 2: go do something like Dancing with the Stars or if
- 11:32Speaker 2: it's a new project you're working on, a little bit
- 11:35Speaker 2: of jitters is like, it's good.
- 11:37Speaker 1: It's important. Do you feel that way? Yes.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Do I, this, the whole spirit of this is about this,
- 11:42Speaker 2: doing the thing that I actually love. am scared of,
- 11:45Speaker 2: but also love, which I love learning new things. I mean,
- 11:48Speaker 2: I admire what you, all of you guys have been, you've,
- 11:50Speaker 2: you've been creative. I mean, the acting, the, you know, the,
- 11:53Speaker 2: the collaborating, the different projects. I mean, it's, I think
- 11:57Speaker 2: when you're not, when you're standing still, I mean, that's,
- 12:00Speaker 2: that's sort of, you're going backwards. So this is, this
- 12:03Speaker 2: wasn't on my, I must do this list, you know,
- 12:06Speaker 2: but now it is. And I'm, I'm so glad I'm
- 12:09Speaker 2: doing it. It's like, it is definitely a, a, you know,
- 12:12Speaker 2: take you back to zero reset, humble you, you know,
- 12:16Speaker 2: is there.
- 12:16Speaker 1: One style of dance?
- 12:17Speaker 2: You're just like, I just hope they don't say we're
- 12:21Speaker 2: doing it this week. Is there one that's like the
- 12:24Speaker 2: big feet that you're like, I don't know. I'm just, dude,
- 12:27Speaker 2: I'm learning so much each week. Most of these, I,
- 12:30Speaker 2: you know, I'm saying, okay, Brit goes, okay, this is
- 12:32Speaker 2: what we're doing this week. Like we're doing Foxtrot this week,
- 12:34Speaker 2: which if you saw it, you'd recognize it.
- 12:37Speaker 1: I thought that was a hunt. I didn't even know that.
- 12:41Speaker 2: There is a fox involved. There's no actual animals involved
- 12:43Speaker 2: in this. No, it's, you know, it has that, you know,
- 12:47Speaker 2: they call it frame. It's a very structured thing, right? Yeah,
- 12:50Speaker 2: your arms are up and you're sort of floating. It
- 12:52Speaker 2: feels very elegant, like maybe out of a, you know,
- 12:54Speaker 2: a Cinderella movie. You'd see this, you know, this... this
- 12:57Speaker 2: classic dance and you know, the ballroom dance. But, um,
- 13:00Speaker 2: I think the one that is most feared is Samba.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Because it's really involves a lot of hips and getting
- 13:07Speaker 2: everything shaken.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I'm out on that one. You know, that's not going
- 13:11Speaker 1: to work for me. They do lie. In fact, your
- 13:12Speaker 1: hips do lie. I'm curious, like, because I'm sure some
- 13:16Speaker 1: people like will watch the show and see married couples
- 13:20Speaker 1: partnered up. Like, do you, do you guys go, have
- 13:23Speaker 1: you guys like, met each other's partners. Like how does that,
- 13:27Speaker 1: I mean, real life partners, like how does the chemistry
- 13:29Speaker 1: work for that?
- 13:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 1: For somebody that doesn't know the show that well, or,
- 13:32Speaker 1: you know, some, I'm sure everybody's different. Some people are like, Oh,
- 13:35Speaker 1: it's my job. I'm going to, I clock in clock out.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Was that important for you guys going into this?
- 13:40Speaker 2: Well, so it is, it is very intimate when you
- 13:42Speaker 2: go and like decide to dance with somebody like you're,
- 13:45Speaker 2: you're immediately like, Hey, nice to meet you.
- 13:46Speaker 1: And you're, you're very as close as humanly possible. Yeah. And,
- 13:50Speaker 1: and all these dances, I mean, there's sort of, I mean,
- 13:53Speaker 1: there's pageantry to them.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Right.
- 13:54Speaker 2: And so, um, but yeah, met, met Daniel, her, her
- 13:56Speaker 2: husband's amazing. And, um, of course met Natalie, my wife
- 14:00Speaker 2: and everybody's just cheering each other on. I mean, this
- 14:02Speaker 2: is a craft. It's, you need to just go in
- 14:05Speaker 2: there and you're a team and you're having fun with it. And,
- 14:08Speaker 2: and you're just dropping down. You know, the way I
- 14:10Speaker 2: would think about is the closest thing I can think
- 14:12Speaker 2: of it is just getting in and, Hey, nice to
- 14:13Speaker 2: meet you.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Let's write a song, right? Nice to meet you. Let's
- 14:16Speaker 1: create art.
- 14:16Speaker 2: You have to sort of, you have to sort of
- 14:19Speaker 2: throw away this like traditional process that you go through
- 14:23Speaker 2: getting to know somebody and just say, Hey, I trust
- 14:25Speaker 2: that you're good at what you do. And I'm going to,
- 14:27Speaker 2: you know, we're going to just try and find a
- 14:29Speaker 2: way to, to build something. And honestly, the thing that's
- 14:33Speaker 2: cool about that is you have no net. I mean,
- 14:37Speaker 2: it is like this is going to happen and it's
- 14:39Speaker 2: going to be all seen and heard.
- 14:41Speaker 1: And shot in 4K. Yeah. So there you go.
- 14:45Speaker 3: Well, we're so pumped for you. This is such a
- 14:47Speaker 3: cool moment to, as you said, just try new things
- 14:50Speaker 3: and learn something. And, you know, the world is, the
- 14:53Speaker 3: country is certainly responding to it.
- 14:55Speaker 1: So congrats on that. And I think it's perfect time
- 14:57Speaker 1: to bring out your partner.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Let's bring in Britt. Let's get in. Welcome to the pod.
- 15:04Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Thanks for having us. Um, congrats on everything so far.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Exciting.
- 15:08Speaker 1: And, um, thank you. Thanks for showing our, our boy
- 15:11Speaker 1: Taylor how to dance.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:12Speaker 1: He's somebody finally public service announcement.
- 15:15Speaker 4: Yes.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Thank you. Um, no, we're, we're, we're fans. We're so
- 15:20Speaker 1: happy for you guys. This is so exciting. Um, And selfishly,
- 15:23Speaker 1: thank you for dancing to Cake by Ocean. You guys
- 15:25Speaker 1: crushed it. It was awesome. And I'm so excited to
- 15:27Speaker 1: see where you guys go and also tonight to see
- 15:31Speaker 1: you guys do your thing. We're learning all about the Foxtrot. Oh, yes.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Maybe she could actually tell you.
- 15:37Speaker 2: They were asking me some questions about dance, and really,
- 15:39Speaker 2: I'm the complete stooge.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Taylor, you fooled us. Taylor said the Samba was probably
- 15:44Speaker 1: the most difficult. What would you say the most difficult
- 15:45Speaker 1: dance is to learn?
- 15:46Speaker 5: Well, I'm curious what you said. Oh, what's the most
- 15:48Speaker 5: difficult dance?
- 15:49Speaker 1: It's definitely the Samba.
- 15:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:51Speaker 5: Okay.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I said the samba.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Did I get it right? Oh yeah. Do you guys
- 15:54Speaker 1: like work on that ahead of time, even though you're
- 15:57Speaker 1: not doing it?
- 15:58Speaker 2: I mean, there's already, if, if we're making good progress,
- 16:02Speaker 2: we're getting ahead the possibility of what's next.
- 16:05Speaker 1: So we're kind of there.
- 16:07Speaker 3: So do you have any superstitions around advancing, you know,
- 16:11Speaker 3: practice or rehearsal to a different step?
- 16:14Speaker 1: Not necessarily.
- 16:15Speaker 5: It all depends on how the week is progressing, um,
- 16:19Speaker 5: and how Taylor transparently is.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Picking it up and really doing it.
- 16:25Speaker 5: I mean, before the premiere, yeah, before the premiere this year,
- 16:28Speaker 5: we actually had a, quite a bit of prep time.
- 16:32Speaker 5: So we started with a bit of, um, basics of
- 16:35Speaker 5: other dance styles and a little bit of a heads
- 16:38Speaker 5: up of a cha-cha, but I mean, it's, It's better
- 16:42Speaker 5: to stay focused on the dance that you're about to
- 16:44Speaker 5: perform rather than introducing in other techniques and choreography.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Also, I would just say, she's so like, we mixed
- 16:50Speaker 2: in some basics. I mean, to me, this is like
- 16:53Speaker 2: starting from basically zero. So every bone is hurting. Every
- 16:57Speaker 2: muscle is hurting. My brain is hurting. Um, are you
- 17:01Speaker 2: dancing in your sleep? Are you finding yourself just like.
- 17:03Speaker 1: I'm trying. I wish there was just one of those.
- 17:04Speaker 2: You put, you know, like they tell you while you sleep, like, please.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Keep working the steps. Yes. Every week is easier a
- 17:12Speaker 1: little bit for it. That's incredible. And Brett, you met
- 17:14Speaker 1: your husband on the show. Is that correct? I did.
- 17:19Speaker 3: I did.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:20Speaker 5: Season 31. Um, he was my partner. and um did
- 17:25Speaker 5: not really think that he was going to become my
- 17:29Speaker 5: husband we really were just um teammates partners became friends
- 17:34Speaker 5: and then um we started dating after our season and
- 17:37Speaker 5: then here we are we got married a year ago.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Congratulations newlyweds thank you it's a hallmark movie yeah it
- 17:45Speaker 1: really is i feel like that's it kind of is
- 17:47Speaker 1: it's really beautiful inspiring thank you Thank you so much.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Big performance coming up tonight, so we're not going to
- 17:52Speaker 2: take too much more of your time, but we do
- 17:53Speaker 2: have some voicemails from some of our listeners that we
- 17:56Speaker 2: wanted you to chime in on. We ask our listeners
- 18:00Speaker 2: to just basically ask questions, asking our advice on things
- 18:04Speaker 2: we have no credentials to be answering and giving advice on.
- 18:08Speaker 1: You guys might have more credentials than us. We'll see.
- 18:11Speaker 1: We're about to find out. But this is from Anonymous,
- 18:15Speaker 1: or the name is Anon. I'm not sure. It doesn't say.
- 18:18Speaker 1: It's either Anon or Anonymous. I think anonymous. Let's go
- 18:21Speaker 1: with that.
- 18:21Speaker 4: So I need advice.
- 18:23Speaker 5: My boyfriend thinks he has like fashion and wears pants
- 18:27Speaker 5: that are cropped.
- 18:29Speaker 4: But they look like floods and they look like he's.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Wearing my like jeans. And I don't know how to
- 18:35Speaker 1: tell him.
- 18:35Speaker 4: And he pulls them up really high, like over his
- 18:39Speaker 4: belly button. And I don't like it.
- 18:42Speaker 1: And he loves it. So what do I do? Let
- 18:45Speaker 1: him live. Yeah.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Goodbye.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Let him live his life.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Yeah, this is interesting. This seems like it's a fashion crisis.
- 18:52Speaker 2: But pants over the belly.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Just let him live his life. He's a fashion king.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 18:57Speaker 6: I had a pair of pants that got tailored a
- 18:59Speaker 6: little too short the other day, and we were in
- 19:01Speaker 6: a shoot, and the guys literally were like, hey.
- 19:03Speaker 1: They look great. And I kept looking down. I'm like,
- 19:05Speaker 1: these are not doing it for me.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I am definitely pro us men putting our pants back
- 19:12Speaker 2: up a little bit. I think a true waist is good.
- 19:14Speaker 2: But this gentleman seems like he's got some... I'm trying
- 19:17Speaker 2: to visualize what she's describing. I'm not quite sure what
- 19:20Speaker 2: this is.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I mean, the high-rise capri. That's more of what he's wearing.
- 19:25Speaker 1: High-rise capri sounds like the wrong size pants. But I'm
- 19:28Speaker 1: with you.
- 19:29Speaker 2: I think we should just... This should be... Let the
- 19:32Speaker 2: man do what the man needs to do.
- 19:33Speaker 1: That's right.
- 19:34Speaker 2: If you have a problem with his pants... Let's focus
- 19:37Speaker 2: on the deeper relationship issues here.
- 19:39Speaker 3: You know what fits it too? You could gift him.
- 19:41Speaker 3: This is my advice for Anonymous.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Ankle warmers. Ankle warmers. I was going to say like boots.
- 19:47Speaker 1: That way, like Doc Martin boots. There you go. That way.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Boots.
- 19:51Speaker 1: It seems like it's on purpose. And a long trench coat.
- 19:53Speaker 3: And a long trench coat. All right, we have one
- 19:55Speaker 3: more voicemail here. This one's from Samantha.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Okay, Samantha. Not in hiding.
- 19:59Speaker 4: I'm calling in from Chicago. And I have a super
- 20:04Speaker 4: important question. Well, really... It's more of ending a debate
- 20:08Speaker 4: between me and my friend. We both have our own
- 20:12Speaker 4: theories on how to make a peanut butter and jelly.
- 20:14Speaker 4: I know it's not a complicated sandwich.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I love this.
- 20:17Speaker 4: But I say it's peanut butter on one side, jelly
- 20:22Speaker 4: on the other. And my friend, Danny, thinks you spread
- 20:26Speaker 4: peanut butter on both sides of the bread and then
- 20:30Speaker 4: the jelly on top of the peanut butter.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I'm like that. I like that.
- 20:34Speaker 4: I don't know. I think that peanut butter is already
- 20:37Speaker 4: so overwhelming. Clearly it's peanut butter on one side, jelly
- 20:41Speaker 4: on the other. I don't know. I'm biased, but what
- 20:45Speaker 4: do you think? Please settle this hot, hot debate for us.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Let's start with you. Our guests should answer this first, please.
- 20:55Speaker 2: This is really important. A father of seven is doing
- 21:00Speaker 2: a lot of PBJs, unless there's some allergies. I'll tell you,
- 21:02Speaker 2: everybody has their own.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I mean, I'm curious what Britt thinks.
- 21:06Speaker 2: I would absolutely go with jelly on one side, peanut
- 21:08Speaker 2: butter on the other, because the jelly slides. If you
- 21:11Speaker 2: have peanut butter on both sides and the jelly goes
- 21:13Speaker 2: sliding around, you've got to get it to saturate a
- 21:15Speaker 2: little bit.
- 21:16Speaker 1: I mean, is that old school with me?
- 21:18Speaker 5: That is not old school at all. That is a
- 21:21Speaker 5: traditional way to make a PB & J. Yeah.
- 21:23Speaker 4: Yes.
- 21:23Speaker 5: I mean, personally, I like an open face, you know,
- 21:26Speaker 5: I mean my favorite half and half. And then like, well,
- 21:30Speaker 5: I mean, I just like one slice of bread. Like
- 21:32Speaker 5: for me, she said peanut butter is overwhelming. The bread
- 21:34Speaker 5: is overwhelming. Like I would like an open face peanut
- 21:38Speaker 5: butter with jelly or like honey.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Guys, what are you, what, what about you? I like,
- 21:42Speaker 1: I see, I'll, I'll slap some jelly on top of
- 21:46Speaker 1: peanut butter any day, but I use different knives. Take
- 21:50Speaker 1: that out of context. I use different knives. Yeah, take
- 21:52Speaker 1: that out of context. I use different knives. I'll slap
- 21:56Speaker 1: some jelly on that peanut butter any day. There we go.
- 22:01Speaker 1: I appreciate that that was on command. I got you.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Please tell me you have Mbop on demand all the time.
- 22:10Speaker 1: I have other takes of the song. Oh, good, good, good.
- 22:13Speaker 1: So yeah, I do use different knives, but I also-
- 22:15Speaker 1: That doesn't help you though, because then you still got
- 22:17Speaker 1: to go in. In my home, we're doing almond butter.
- 22:18Speaker 1: We're not doing peanut butter for allergies. Yeah? So- I
- 22:21Speaker 1: do like almond butter. I do love me some almond butter.
- 22:24Speaker 1: What's the, what's the, Justin's, Justin's almond butter. Shout out, Justin's.
- 22:27Speaker 1: This episode brought you by.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:29Speaker 1: That's not true, but if they do, then we'll leave
- 22:31Speaker 1: it in. You should definitely get some Justin's. Hey, Justin's.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Speaking of great free stuff. My favorite free stuff we've
- 22:39Speaker 1: received in the last five years has been Mmm Hops. Ooh,
- 22:42Speaker 1: that is very good. That's true. You guys sent us
- 22:44Speaker 1: the beer. Handsome Brothers has an amazing brew. You guys
- 22:46Speaker 1: are still.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Doing it, right?
- 22:48Speaker 1: We are, yeah. Oh, it's so delicious. I'm glad you, yeah,
- 22:52Speaker 1: that's right. You guys are craft beer fans.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Just some beer love. I mean, it's a creative thing, honestly.
- 22:58Speaker 2: I love the process of figuring out what I would
- 23:00Speaker 2: want to drink, and Mops is a delicious beer.
- 23:03Speaker 1: I think. And it goes really well with the peanut
- 23:05Speaker 1: butter and jelly. It does go really well.
- 23:07Speaker 2: And also, unfortunately, it does not go well with the
- 23:09Speaker 2: workout program of doing Dancing with the Stars.
- 23:10Speaker 1: That was like a set.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Right.
- 23:13Speaker 1: You can't just take a break. Wait, just put them aside.
- 23:15Speaker 1: I got a bowl.
- 23:16Speaker 3: All right, last thing before we let you guys go.
- 23:18Speaker 3: I think next to you, you have a bowl of questions.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, it's right there, the eight ball. Um, Oh
- 23:22Speaker 1: my gosh. If you wouldn't mind, please pull one question
- 23:25Speaker 1: and read aloud. I'm going to let Brit start.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Cause I've had more time in front of the microphone.
- 23:29Speaker 2: I want to, I want to see what she magically pulls.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Such a gentleman. Okay. Let's go. All right. Ooh, this
- 23:34Speaker 1: is good. Taylor.
- 23:36Speaker 5: What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten standing over the
- 23:39Speaker 5: kitchen sink?
- 23:40Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 23:41Speaker 2: What's the weirdest thing I've ever eaten over the, um, um,
- 23:44Speaker 2: I don't know what the weirdest over the kitchen sink. Um,
- 23:48Speaker 2: I feel like it's probably some assortment of like, uh,
- 23:52Speaker 2: I'm really into dairy stuff. So like some combination of
- 23:55Speaker 2: like cottage cheese or like a late night, like raiding
- 23:59Speaker 2: the fridge that you're not actually supposed to eat. An
- 24:01Speaker 2: invented sandwich that's like, you're of course eating it over
- 24:04Speaker 2: the sink because you're trying not to leave a trail.
- 24:09Speaker 2: I'm trying to picture something that's really, my favorite late
- 24:12Speaker 2: night thing is actually peanut butter and as they call
- 24:15Speaker 2: the Elvis sandwich, peanut butter and banana, but you grill it.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Oh, yes.
- 24:19Speaker 2: And I can picture eating. I don't know how weird
- 24:21Speaker 2: that is, but I can picture that. That sounds delicious, actually.
- 24:24Speaker 1: You've got to grill it. Kevin can't be within a
- 24:28Speaker 1: mile of a banana. But that's okay.
- 24:30Speaker 5: Oh, no?
- 24:30Speaker 1: You can do that by yourself. He doesn't like fruit.
- 24:33Speaker 1: He's anti-banana. Anti-banana. Big anti-banana guy. How are you going to.
- 24:37Speaker 4: Get your potassium?
- 24:38Speaker 2: I don't know if that really was much of a
- 24:41Speaker 2: snazzy answer, but.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I'm hungry again. It's a fantastic drag name, by the way.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Auntie Banana. If you want to pull... Auntie Banana. Auntie,
- 24:49Speaker 1: and she's also an auntie. Auntie Banana.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Auntie.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Auntie Banana. Okay, why don't you... Taylor, why don't you
- 24:55Speaker 1: pull one for Britt, please?
- 24:56Speaker 2: How long do you hold a door before it becomes
- 24:58Speaker 2: a weird obligatory job for another person?
- 25:01Speaker 5: I mean, this could be interesting because you can open
- 25:03Speaker 5: the door and then you just let, you know, one
- 25:05Speaker 5: person come through and then other people arrive and other.
- 25:08Speaker 1: I think you gotta.
- 25:09Speaker 5: You have to commit.
- 25:10Speaker 1: You just have to hold the door. I agree. Somebody's
- 25:12Speaker 1: politely saying, No, no, no, please.
- 25:14Speaker 4: No, please.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Yeah. You've done enough.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Yes.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely. I don't think there's enough door holding in
- 25:18Speaker 1: the world. Honestly.
- 25:19Speaker 2: You know what?
- 25:20Speaker 5: I agree.
- 25:20Speaker 1: I don't think you've opened a door for others enough.
- 25:22Speaker 4: Yeah. Preach.
- 25:23Speaker 1: That's actually on my notes here. We were going to
- 25:25Speaker 1: talk about that today.
- 25:27Speaker 4: Please.
- 25:27Speaker 1: There's not enough door holding. You guys were raised to
- 25:29Speaker 1: open the door, right?
- 25:31Speaker 2: Especially.
- 25:31Speaker 1: And also to say thank you if someone holds the
- 25:34Speaker 1: door for you. That doesn't happen enough either. And then
- 25:36Speaker 1: I'm like, well, should I expect that? I don't think
- 25:38Speaker 1: I should expect that.
- 25:39Speaker 2: But if they bring a banana sandwich and you're Kevin,
- 25:41Speaker 2: then you may be like, hey, I'm shutting the door.
- 25:43Speaker 1: He's shutting the door.
- 25:45Speaker 6: Something with the door opening did happen to me odd
- 25:47Speaker 6: the other day. I opened a door for someone, but
- 25:49Speaker 6: my hand was in a weird position. So the only
- 25:51Speaker 6: way for them to enter was to crawl, go underneath
- 25:53Speaker 6: my arm. So they had to duck under. So it
- 25:57Speaker 6: just made it more awkward and more interesting.
- 25:59Speaker 1: But you know what?
- 25:59Speaker 4: They did it.
- 26:00Speaker 1: We're notoriously tall, too. So he had that.
- 26:02Speaker 4: Yeah. Thanks, Joe.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I needed that today. Thank you both so much for
- 26:05Speaker 1: joining us today. Best of luck tonight. We'll be rooting
- 26:10Speaker 1: for you guys. Do you know the voting numbers at
- 26:13Speaker 1: the top of your head or no? Yes, thank you
- 26:14Speaker 1: guys for your support. The number is 21523.
- 26:16Speaker 2: You text Taylor to 21523 to vote for our team.
- 26:20Speaker 1: All right, well, you got our vote. Thank you guys
- 26:24Speaker 1: so much. Thank you. Thank you guys.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Good luck tonight.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Thanks for having us. All the best.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Thank you.
