  SPEAKER_00: Here we go.
• 0:25
SPEAKER_00: Welcome to week seven, Games of the Week.
• 0:28
SPEAKER_00: Today I will analyze one of Section 4's longest and most storied rivalries and also one honorable mention game.
• 0:36
SPEAKER_00: And during the Ask Coach Smith segment, I will explain one aspect of the uniform rule.
• 0:42
SPEAKER_00: The game of the week this week is Vestal versus Union Endicott, which will be played Friday, October 25th at 7 p.m.
• 0:50
SPEAKER_00: at Ty Cobb Stadium, Endicott, New York.
• 0:53
SPEAKER_00: This is the 88th renewal of this rivalry.
• 0:57
SPEAKER_00: Rivalry in every sense of the word, although on a much smaller scale comparable to Army Navy, Cortland Ithaca, and Pitt Penn State.
• 1:10
SPEAKER_00: The first vessel UE game was in 1951, and they played to a 0-0 tie.
• 1:17
SPEAKER_00: This would be the first of eight games between these iconic coaches of Dick Hoover and Ty Cobb.
• 1:24
SPEAKER_00: Hoover's teams won four and Ty Cobb's teams won three.
• 1:28
SPEAKER_00: There was the one tie.
• 1:31
SPEAKER_00: Over the last 12 games, Vestal has won four and Unionicott has won eight.
• 1:37
SPEAKER_00: UE has won the last five games, and they lead the series 46 to 37 with four ties.
• 1:48
SPEAKER_00: This is the type of game that before you leave the locker room, you need to put your helmet on, buckle your chin strap, put your mouthpiece in, and double knot your cleats.
• 1:58
  SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying.
• 1:59
SPEAKER_00: This game is what I call a chuck'em game.
• 2:02
  SPEAKER_00: Chuck the records.
• 2:04
SPEAKER_00: They don't apply for this game.
• 2:06
SPEAKER_00: It's all about bragging rights for life.
• 2:09
SPEAKER_00: And also, the winner will host a first-round playoff game Friday, November 8th.
• 2:15
SPEAKER_00: This is Vestal's third of three straight collisions in Division II.
• 2:21
SPEAKER_00: Last season, these two teams played at Vestal, United Cott winning 14-12.
• 2:28
SPEAKER_00: In 2022, during the Section 4 Class A Division II championship, Vessel lost to UE 14-30.
• 2:36
SPEAKER_00: Currently the standings in Division II, Horse Edge and United Cott are tied at 1-0.
• 2:44
SPEAKER_00: Vestal comes in next at 1-1, and Binghamton at 0-2.
• 2:51
SPEAKER_00: The other two division teams, Horseheads and Binghamton, they also play Friday evening at Binghamton's alumni field at 7 o'clock.
• 3:02
SPEAKER_00: Festal comes into this game with a 3-4 overall record and 1-1 in the division.
• 3:07
SPEAKER_00: They lost last week to the Horseheads Blue Raiders 20-35.
• 3:12
  SPEAKER_00: They've scored a total of 206 points and allowed 205 points.
• 3:17
  SPEAKER_00: That's a difference of plus one.
• 3:19
SPEAKER_00: So student athletes that will definitely have an effect on the outcome of this game will be Josh Queller, the sophomore quarterback, JT Gannon, he's a wide receiver, defensive back, kick returner, and Julian Adams, who is a running back, defensive back, and also a kick returner.
• 3:38
SPEAKER_00: Union Endicott comes in at 1-6 and 1-0 in the division.
• 3:44
SPEAKER_00: Last week they beat Bingham Handily 35-6.
• 3:48
  SPEAKER_00: They've scored 103 points but allowed 211.
• 3:53
  SPEAKER_00: That's a difference of minus 108.
• 3:56
SPEAKER_00: Some student athletes to pay particular attention to for Unionicott Tigers.
• 4:02
SPEAKER_00: Joseph Gennarelli is a quarterback.
• 4:05
SPEAKER_00: Zakari Wells Taylor, and Robert Mobri.
• 4:11
SPEAKER_00: Robert is coming off a very good game where he carried the ball 19 times for 161 yards, which is an average of 8.5 yards per carry, and he also had a touchdown.
• 4:23
SPEAKER_00: I believe some of the keys to this game will be we always begin with football fundamentals, blocking, tackling, and controlling the line of scrimmage.
• 4:32
SPEAKER_00: To win, you must control both lines of scrimmage and also run the ball and stop the run.
• 4:38
SPEAKER_00: In this game, because it is such a highly emotional game, I think emotional control needs to be in place early and maintained throughout the game.
• 4:48
SPEAKER_00: This one should come down to how well the defenses play.
• 4:53
SPEAKER_00: Also, I have a suspicion the kicking game will come into play, not just punting and kickoffs, but PATs and field goals.
• 5:00
SPEAKER_00: And remember, last season this game was decided by two points.
• 5:05
SPEAKER_00: And now on to our honorable mention game.
• 5:09
SPEAKER_00: This will be a Class C showdown in Division IV between Shenango Forks and Susquehanna Valley.
• 5:16
SPEAKER_00: Both are currently 1-0 in their division.
• 5:20
SPEAKER_00: This game will be played at Susquehanna Valley Sabre Field on Saturday, October 26th at 1.30.
• 5:27
SPEAKER_00: Some student athletes to watch for Susquehanna Valley is quarterback Maddox Kopko, and he really likes to air it out.
• 5:36
SPEAKER_00: He's got three primary receivers, Jesse Freer, Sam Miller, and Aiden Howard.
• 5:42
SPEAKER_00: For the Shenango Forks Blue Devils, gotta keep your eye on Sam Paskey.
• 5:46
  SPEAKER_00: He's a true triple threat.
• 5:47
SPEAKER_00: What I mean by that is he can pass the ball, run the ball, and makes outstanding decisions.
• 5:53
SPEAKER_00: His primary targets are Finn Stark and Lucas Bartlow.
• 5:58
SPEAKER_00: And now ask Coach Smith.
• 6:01
SPEAKER_00: Question An official removed a player from the game, apparently because his pants did not cover his knees.
• 6:09
  SPEAKER_00: Is this a rule?
• 6:10
SPEAKER_00: I see college and NFL players with their knees totally exposed.
• 6:15
SPEAKER_00: In addition to looking sloppy, it appears they are wearing biking shorts.
• 6:20
  SPEAKER_00: It looks ridiculous.
• 6:22
  SPEAKER_00: Help me understand.
• 6:24
SPEAKER_00: Well, thank you for your question.
• 6:26
SPEAKER_00: And I agree with you, it's not a good look.
• 6:29
SPEAKER_00: Yes, it is a rule that all high school players must wear pants that completely cover their knees and the required knee pads.
• 6:37
SPEAKER_00: This is one of the National Federation of State High School Association's uniform rules for high school football.
• 6:45
SPEAKER_00: This actually is one of their three points of emphasis this season, along with sportsmanship and altercation prevention and formations.
• 6:55
SPEAKER_00: Thank you for submitting your question.
