- 0:30Welcome back to another episode
- 0:32of the Revolution of Purpose podcast.
- 0:34I'm your host, Jon Street,
- 0:35and today I have the privilege of sitting down
- 0:39with entrepreneur, speaker,
- 0:41and founder of Self Mastery, Jason Solomon.
- 0:44Jason has spent more than a decade
- 0:46helping entrepreneurs and leaders
- 0:48transform the way they think,
- 0:50build successful businesses, and create lives of purpose.
- 0:54Through consulting, coaching,
- 0:55and transformational retreats held around the world,
- 0:59he's impacted people across industries
- 1:02and across continents.
- 1:04I love getting on calls with Jason.
- 1:06His mastermind calls have people
- 1:08from like a dozen different time zones.
- 1:11They're always so fun to hop on, and I learn so much.
- 1:14While many know that Jason,
- 1:16many know Jason because of his connection
- 1:18with the legendary Bob Proctor and Linda Proctor,
- 1:21what I admire is that he hasn't tried
- 1:23to become another Bob Proctor.
- 1:25He has become the first Jason Solomon.
- 1:30Jason Solomon,
- 1:31building a life and business that are uniquely his own.
- 1:34Before we begin, I also want to publicly thank you, Jason,
- 1:37because you were the one who introduced me to Linda Proctor,
- 1:41and that introduction ultimately led
- 1:43to Linda writing the foreword
- 1:45to my book, Revolution of Purpose,
- 1:47and that is something I will always be grateful for, sir.
- 1:50So Jason, welcome to the Revolution of Purpose podcast.
- 1:54King Jon Street.
- 1:56What's going on with that introduction, man?
- 1:57That was legendary.
- 1:58How are you doing, brother?
- 1:59I am doing well.
- 2:00I'm doing well.
- 2:01I love it.
- 2:03Jason is the only person that calls me King, but I love it.
- 2:06He'll put it in a text
- 2:08and it makes me feel like a trillion dollars.
- 2:10I love it so much.
- 2:12So Jason, here is a question that I ask everyone
- 2:15that appears on this podcast,
- 2:17and I love the question.
- 2:19I can't wait to hear what you're gonna say about it.
- 2:23Who are you today
- 2:25that your younger self would be proud of becoming?
- 2:29Yeah, that's a great question.
- 2:30And I love that this is unscripted, man.
- 2:32I want to start off with first saying thank you
- 2:34for having me here.
- 2:36I told you anytime you need me to hop on,
- 2:39share any value, this is about your audience, not me.
- 2:42I'm all about giving that value, man.
- 2:44But with that question,
- 2:46who am I today that my younger self would be proud of?
- 2:49I think someone that is not afraid to take a risk.
- 2:53I had a mentor, man.
- 2:55His name was Chris.
- 2:56And he said, sometimes in life,
- 2:58you have to be a ready, fire, aim person.
- 3:02And John, I'm ready, fire, and aiming with a lot of things,
- 3:06especially with the retreats that I posted
- 3:08on not just different places in the States,
- 3:10different places in the world, in Europe,
- 3:14having the heart and the desire to do those things
- 3:17and ultimately follow my intuition.
- 3:21It's led me to be in front of different stages
- 3:23and different rooms I never thought I would imagine
- 3:25being in at this age.
- 3:27And as I continue to grow older, continue to develop,
- 3:31I realized how short term my journey has been.
- 3:34I started when I was 18, and now I'm 29.
- 3:37And I thought three years was long.
- 3:39I thought two years was long.
- 3:40I thought five months was a long time for anything.
- 3:42But as I started to meet people that were higher,
- 3:46more qualified, more successful,
- 3:48and they've been doing it for 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 years,
- 3:52man, I think we're just getting started.
- 3:54So I think to answer your question, like I said,
- 3:56man, someone that's a risk taker,
- 3:57someone that's not afraid to look silly,
- 4:00someone that's not afraid to say,
- 4:01I'm going to do it, and then I do it.
- 4:03I think that would be something
- 4:05younger Jason would definitely be proud of.
- 4:07I love that, Jason.
- 4:08That's phenomenal.
- 4:10And I'm sure it's true too.
- 4:12I think people see the international retreats.
- 4:14They see you're speaking,
- 4:16the businesses that you've built at such a young age,
- 4:19at 29 years old, but they don't know maybe
- 4:22what was life like growing up for you
- 4:25that kind of got you here.
- 4:26Like when did you first begin sensing
- 4:29that your purpose might be different
- 4:30than the path that just most people take?
- 4:34Yeah, man, that's such a good question, John.
- 4:37I grew up against the masses.
- 4:42Dude, I was always on my own track.
- 4:44I was always thinking on my own.
- 4:45I was always thinking differently.
- 4:48I had a conversation with someone yesterday
- 4:50and I told him, I just never found excitement
- 4:53or happiness in what other people found exciting or happy
- 4:57or what made them happy.
- 4:59I never found fun what everyone else found fun.
- 5:02Growing up, I'm from Indiana, born and raised out here.
- 5:05Man, I grew up as an athlete.
- 5:07Sports was my direction in life
- 5:10of what I thought would be somewhat of a career.
- 5:14And that's only because you're shown certain things
- 5:15at a young age, man.
- 5:16We're only shown that we could be an athlete
- 5:19or you have to be, if you wanna be a professional,
- 5:21you gotta be a lawyer, you gotta do this,
- 5:22or you just gotta work a traditional job
- 5:25or do something that may not be as productive, right?
- 5:29And for me, I don't know, man.
- 5:30I was just always thinking on my own.
- 5:32I always had a vision.
- 5:33I always had some type of idea of how I wanted to live.
- 5:38And again, I never knew it was gonna be
- 5:40this actual path that I'm on now,
- 5:42if you would've said, hey, Jason, at 18 years old,
- 5:45you're gonna be speaking on stage, man.
- 5:46I hated talking to people.
- 5:49There was no bone, no vein, no cell in my body
- 5:53that wanted to have a conversation with anybody.
- 5:55I was the kid with the hoodie up, the headphones in.
- 5:58Even if I knew you, I wouldn't want to converse
- 6:00just because I was always thinking.
- 6:01I was always in my own space, right?
- 6:05And I didn't think there was anything wrong with that.
- 6:08But as a kid, whenever you're the one
- 6:10that is always on the different track,
- 6:12you can be looked at or perceived a certain way.
- 6:15And John always, I grew up watching Disney, right?
- 6:19All the Disney movies, the Lion King or Jungle Book
- 6:23or Bambi, whatever the Disney movies were.
- 6:26And as I started to mature, I'm like, okay,
- 6:29I'm noticing a theme here.
- 6:31The main character that ends up saving the world
- 6:34is always the weird kid
- 6:36that goes against everybody in the beginning, right?
- 6:39The main character in those movies
- 6:41is always a kid that doesn't follow the crowd,
- 6:44is always against what everyone is telling him,
- 6:46maybe has a different idea than what he's supposed to be.
- 6:50And that was me.
- 6:52I grew up as a thinker, as a purebred entrepreneur, man.
- 6:56I was a kid trying to sell anything, candy, T-shirts.
- 6:59If I saw a pencil on the ground,
- 7:00I was trying to get 25 cents in class.
- 7:03And that was just my thinking, right?
- 7:06But what led me on this track, I guess, as you say,
- 7:08is a lot of curiosity.
- 7:11Me and my mom would always watch a lot of travel shows.
- 7:13That was kind of like our bonding time.
- 7:14We would watch every show on the travel channel.
- 7:17My dad was working as an appraiser.
- 7:20So what he would always do is, with me and my brother,
- 7:22he would say, hey guys, get in the car.
- 7:24Where are we going?
- 7:25Don't worry about it, we're just gonna drive, right?
- 7:27And as someone that's working on houses,
- 7:28you just turn down this alley, you go down this street.
- 7:31You're always going to a different place you've never been.
- 7:34So my curiosity from a young age was always Pete
- 7:37because of probably those two incidents right there.
- 7:41And just me wanting to be me.
- 7:43I never tried to be anyone else.
- 7:45In school, I remember, man,
- 7:47you have certain fashion trends in high school, right?
- 7:50And everybody in my school, they wore Nikes and Jordans.
- 7:54Jason was the only one that wore Adidas.
- 7:58And I intentionally wore Adidas
- 7:59because I didn't want to be like anybody else, right?
- 8:01I said, I'm gonna make Adidas popular.
- 8:03That was me.
- 8:04So I guess as I look at today,
- 8:07Steve Jobs said hindsight's 20-20, right?
- 8:09You can kind of put the pieces together
- 8:12on why you are where you are,
- 8:13why you're doing what you're doing.
- 8:15And I think a lot of those scenarios, man,
- 8:16as a kid put me on this track today.
- 8:19Again, just being a thinker, asking questions.
- 8:22My mom would always say, Jason, you always ask why?
- 8:25Why?
- 8:26Why?
- 8:27Why this?
- 8:28Why that?
- 8:29Why this?
- 8:29Why that?
- 8:30Why do we speak English?
- 8:31Why don't we speak Spanish?
- 8:32And that was just me.
- 8:33And it still is today.
- 8:34I'm like, why can't we do a retreat in Tokyo?
- 8:36Why can't we have an event here?
- 8:39Why can't we do this?
- 8:40So those are the questions I would always ask myself.
- 8:43So did you ever feel pressure
- 8:45to do what everyone else was doing?
- 8:47Or did you just always buck that and just be like,
- 8:50no, if it doesn't match what I want to do,
- 8:52I'm not gonna do it.
- 8:55No, the pressure-
- 8:55And maybe not match what I want to do,
- 8:57but match who you were.
- 9:00Yeah, well, a lot of things that were going on
- 9:02in the environment I was in,
- 9:04it didn't match me.
- 9:06And there was a lot of pressure, for sure.
- 9:08Not to go into any detail.
- 9:10And I love my friends that I grew up with,
- 9:12but some of those guys are in the streets
- 9:14doing whatever they're doing, right?
- 9:15And so the pressure that we had was to,
- 9:19of course, was to fit into a certain culture.
- 9:21It was to be a certain way.
- 9:23It was to, I don't know how detailed I can get
- 9:27on this call, right?
- 9:29But not to go too vulgar or get too detailed.
- 9:34But the pressure was intense, man,
- 9:35because being, let's say, African-American,
- 9:38inner city kid, right?
- 9:40And having certain influences.
- 9:43So who we looked up to as kids
- 9:45were the athletes and the rappers.
- 9:48Those were our influences.
- 9:49We didn't know of black entrepreneurs, right?
- 9:54We didn't have that image.
- 9:55We had LeBron James.
- 9:57We had Michael Jordan.
- 9:58We had Kobe Bryant.
- 9:59Then on the flip side,
- 10:01our biggest influences were musicians.
- 10:03We had Lil Wayne.
- 10:03We had Drake.
- 10:04We had all those guys that looked like us
- 10:09that had a certain level of success.
- 10:11So the natural thing for you to do
- 10:13is to want to emulate those images.
- 10:16So that's why we played sports
- 10:19or we went to the streets and did something crazy, right?
- 10:22And so, yeah, it was a lot of pressure, man.
- 10:24It was a lot of pressure to fit into a certain culture.
- 10:29There's a lot of pressure to not look weak.
- 10:32Growing up, you had to be hard.
- 10:34You had to be tough so you didn't get picked on, right?
- 10:36You had to fight so people knew not to pick on you, right?
- 10:40You had to be aggressive.
- 10:41You had to have that demeanor about yourself.
- 10:45Really a survival, man, in a lot of situations.
- 10:47So as I look back on my life,
- 10:50there was a ton of pressure, man,
- 10:52to fit into a certain mold, to fit into a certain culture.
- 10:56But I think what I did was,
- 10:58I think one of the greatest things you can do
- 11:00is somewhat of isolation.
- 11:03Like I heard a quote that said,
- 11:04all great leaders went into the woods, right?
- 11:07At some point in time-
- 11:08That's so huge.
- 11:09At some point in time,
- 11:10every leader went into the woods, right?
- 11:12They got away.
- 11:14They went into the woods.
- 11:16If you people read the Bible,
- 11:17Jesus went into the woods,
- 11:19Moses went into the desert,
- 11:21wherever he went with the bush, right?
- 11:23So at some point in time,
- 11:24all great leaders go into the woods.
- 11:26So for me, my woods was the gym.
- 11:30That was how I kind of separated myself.
- 11:32My woods was riding my bike, right?
- 11:35So in having something to do that was productive,
- 11:39because a lot of my peers or friends
- 11:41that got into troubling situations,
- 11:47it was because they just didn't have
- 11:48anything productive to do, right?
- 11:51Outside of their normality.
- 11:54We had sports which kept us out of a lot of trouble.
- 11:58But even when you're done with sports,
- 11:59what do you do, right?
- 12:01And so you typically do what you see.
- 12:03And the influences that we had,
- 12:05we didn't know of a Jason Solomon today
- 12:08that's hosting retreats,
- 12:09that's reading Think and Grow Rich
- 12:12or reading Master Key to Riches.
- 12:13We didn't see that.
- 12:14So again, man,
- 12:15I think it's just about the influences
- 12:18that you have around you.
- 12:19And you're going to be pressured to fit in.
- 12:21But I think if you have a vision,
- 12:24that vision is going to pull you, man.
- 12:25It's going to pull you in a direction
- 12:27that you're not going to know why.
- 12:29You're going to have to follow that intuition.
- 12:31And thank God I did.
- 12:33When did you first start to get a glimpse of the vision?
- 12:36Like when did you first start to see
- 12:39that you could be something of a success
- 12:44doing something worldwide
- 12:45like you're doing with consulting and retreats?
- 12:48Was that when you met Bob and Linda?
- 12:50Was it before then?
- 12:51Like what happened that brought you
- 12:53from young Jason in the streets
- 12:55wearing Adidas to Jason today,
- 12:58hosting retreats in Tokyo and Utah and France?
- 13:01Adidas flip-flops and a white beanie.
- 13:03Still wearing Adidas.
- 13:04Exactly.
- 13:06You may still wear Adidas.
- 13:07I like my own clouds now, man.
- 13:09I like my own clouds.
- 13:12Now, you know what's interesting, John?
- 13:14I've always been a curious guy.
- 13:15Like, okay, I remember it's probably at 12, 13 years old.
- 13:19I don't know why.
- 13:21I have no idea.
- 13:21But I would get on Google
- 13:23and I would get on Google Maps
- 13:26and I would just do the street view of different cities.
- 13:30You know, if you guys get on Google Maps,
- 13:31just go to like the street view.
- 13:33And when you get on street view,
- 13:34it's almost like you're actually there, right?
- 13:36So I would get on street view of Paris,
- 13:38street view of Algeria, street view of Belgium.
- 13:41Like, I'm like, oh, I wonder what this place looks like.
- 13:43I've never been there.
- 13:44I wonder what this place looks like.
- 13:45I wonder what this place looks like.
- 13:47And I remember, you know,
- 13:48some of the shows that I would watch.
- 13:50I remember there was a show
- 13:51called Millionaire List in New York on Bravo.
- 13:54It was like a TV show.
- 13:55I'm watching this, right, at 15 years old.
- 13:57And I'm looking at people like Ryan Serhant,
- 14:00you know, all those guys that are now,
- 14:02you know, great successes.
- 14:03And I'm watching those types of shows.
- 14:05I'm watching all the travel shows.
- 14:07Dahani Jones, Traveling the World,
- 14:09all these different things.
- 14:10And then, of course,
- 14:11a lot of sports influences along the way.
- 14:13But for me, man, I don't know.
- 14:14It's just, I never saw myself doing
- 14:16what everyone else is doing.
- 14:18That path of normality,
- 14:21first off, it wasn't attractive.
- 14:23It was not attractive.
- 14:25Like waking up, going to a place you don't like,
- 14:28called a job, making money you don't wanna make
- 14:31with people you don't wanna be around,
- 14:34the time that you don't wanna invest
- 14:36to live the life that you don't desire.
- 14:38That made no sense, right?
- 14:40And I'll tell you one thing that actually struck me.
- 14:42I grew up in a Christian background, okay?
- 14:44Shout out to my mama.
- 14:45She's been trying to get me to read the Bible for years.
- 14:47I'm finally starting to do it, right?
- 14:49She'll be happy.
- 14:51And so we would go to church.
- 14:53We had a church, Mount Olive Baptist Church
- 14:55in Hallville, Indiana.
- 14:57And which is like in a really inner city, Indianapolis.
- 15:00And I would go there every Sunday, right?
- 15:02And then sometimes we would go to church
- 15:04with our family members.
- 15:05And I remember, man, just one incident.
- 15:07We're in church and the preacher's talking about,
- 15:10you should have heaven on earth.
- 15:11You should love thy neighbor.
- 15:13All the quotes, right?
- 15:14You should, life or death's in the power of the tongue.
- 15:17And I remember it was just one of these Sundays, man.
- 15:19I had to be eight or nine years old.
- 15:22And we leave church and we go to a family cookout
- 15:25at my auntie's house.
- 15:27And then I see my uncles drinking beer, smoking cigars,
- 15:30whatever they had in their cigar at the time.
- 15:32I was no, I didn't know what was in the cigar.
- 15:34They had some cigars though.
- 15:36Playing horseshoe, cussing at each other,
- 15:38you know, yelling, screaming, arguing.
- 15:42And I'm like, didn't we just leave church?
- 15:47Didn't we just say love thy neighbor,
- 15:50not cuss at thy neighbor, right?
- 15:51So I grew up, again, I'm a thinker.
- 15:53I question things.
- 15:55So my first question was,
- 15:58why aren't we doing what this book says?
- 16:01So I became very confused.
- 16:03And when you're very confused,
- 16:05you typically don't fall into a line
- 16:08because then you start to ask more questions, right?
- 16:11So from a young age, I was always questioning
- 16:13because a lot of the things that we would say,
- 16:16we weren't doing.
- 16:17It wasn't lining up with our belief,
- 16:19with our quote-unquote religion.
- 16:20So I think that's where it really started, man,
- 16:22just me asking questions, me being curious.
- 16:25I think that's where it will start with anybody, you know?
- 16:28You know, and one of the things
- 16:30that I admire the most about you is that even now,
- 16:33even in the space you're in with mindset coaching
- 16:36and consulting and retreats,
- 16:40you're still not following the same blueprint
- 16:42that everybody else is, you know?
- 16:44I mean, everybody else is trying to go out there
- 16:47and become an influencer and have videos that go viral.
- 16:51And that just doesn't seem to match your plan.
- 16:55So it must not be who you authentically see yourself,
- 16:58you know?
- 16:59And so you have like, you're like a ninja.
- 17:02You're like a mindset ninja.
- 17:03You're building a successful business
- 17:06without everyone having to see everything you eat
- 17:09and everywhere you go.
- 17:11And I love that.
- 17:13You're like the stealth mindset ninja.
- 17:14That's your new thing, Jason.

- 19:18And now, let's get you back to today's episode.
- 19:22I appreciate that.
- 19:23So I definitely need to go to Japan now
- 19:25and get up on my ninja ski.
- 19:26Exactly.
- 19:27Yeah, you brought up an interesting point, man.
- 19:32You know, I think I've seen both sides from,
- 19:35so I've had great mentors, right?
- 19:38Of course, Bob Proctor, Linda Proctor,
- 19:39probably the most famous, influential people
- 19:42that I've been around,
- 19:44which I give a lot of credit to them.
- 19:46But then there were some other individuals
- 19:48that I was blessed to have as mentors
- 19:51that made millions in certain businesses.
- 19:54One of them, his name is Chris Estes.
- 19:57Chris actually lives in Kentucky.
- 20:00And I talked to Chris periodically,
- 20:03very successful, he was going direct sales,
- 20:05he was the number one earner in the business.
- 20:07And he had his real estate,
- 20:09you know, over 70 or a hundred million dollars
- 20:12with a real estate.
- 20:13You know, this guy's just killing it.
- 20:14And financial disclaimer,
- 20:16but he stated that on the podcast.
- 20:19So I'm just repeating what he stated, all right?
- 20:21But anyways, I remember seeing both sides, right?
- 20:26I saw Bob Proctor on stage in front of everybody.
- 20:30And then being in an industry,
- 20:32I started doing direct sales at a young age, right?
- 20:35And being in that industry,
- 20:36me seeing, let's say the most successful people
- 20:39in that industry, they were not the loudest people.
- 20:44They were actually kind of in the background.
- 20:47There was a quote that Linda told me.
- 20:48She said, if you're gonna build a business
- 20:52in the style that we were building,
- 20:54she said, your goal is to move from the back of the room
- 20:57to the front of the stage,
- 20:59then eventually get to the back of the room again.
- 21:02And what she was saying is,
- 21:05you in the beginning stage, you're gonna be in the back.
- 21:08You're not gonna have any results.
- 21:09And your whole drive is to get to that stage.
- 21:13But she said, once you get on the stage,
- 21:15you're gonna recognize that even when you're on the stage,
- 21:19you're still probably not the most successful person.
- 21:22She said, you become successful
- 21:24and you actually make a true impact
- 21:26when you now get off of the stage,
- 21:28move to the back of the room again,
- 21:30which means now you're pushing other people
- 21:32to the front of the room.
- 21:34So I saw that, right?
- 21:36I saw how, okay, I'm on stage in Germany.
- 21:38This is 2018, 2019.
- 21:42I'm in a red suit.
- 21:43I think I'm the stuff, right?
- 21:45I'm speaking about practicing right in front of me.
- 21:47He literally stopped me in the middle of my talk.
- 21:50He said, Jason, you're pretty good.
- 21:52He said that in front of everybody.
- 21:53I gotta find the recording.
- 21:54I know Linda has a recording,
- 21:56but I'm speaking, I'm going over time.
- 21:59I'm walking through the crowd like I'm him, right?
- 22:01And I get off stage.
- 22:02And I remember sitting there and I'm like,
- 22:05all these people are now coming up to me,
- 22:07asking me for interview, for an autograph.
- 22:10It's a unique feeling.
- 22:13But I'm thinking, I'm like,
- 22:13these people have no idea
- 22:16that I'm not making all the money.
- 22:19It's really those people that were sitting in the front row
- 22:22that were not on stage that were making all the money.
- 22:26So I started to learn that, right?
- 22:27Is that the real wealthy people, man, we don't know them.
- 22:33We don't hear them.
- 22:34We see the effect of them, right?
- 22:37We don't know them.
- 22:38We see the effect of them.
- 22:40And as I started to study wealth
- 22:41and I started to look up different billionaires,
- 22:44I remember I went on Forbes list one day
- 22:46and I looked up the Forbes list of billionaires.
- 22:49And they have, I think over a thousand names
- 22:51of people that are networked as a billion
- 22:53or more on Forbes list.
- 22:54I don't remember when this was, it was a while ago.
- 22:56But I remember I was reading the list
- 22:59and I only knew like Branson, Musk, Bezos, Gates, Buffett,
- 23:06Oprah, Jordan.
- 23:08After that, I'm like, I have no idea who these guys are.
- 23:13I started Googling them.
- 23:14And guess what, John?
- 23:15I remember I Googled Michael Dell
- 23:17who actually created Dell computers.
- 23:20Or I looked at his Instagram and he had a thousand followers.
- 23:24Then I looked up another guy who was an Asian gentleman,
- 23:26Asian billionaire.
- 23:27And he had 2,000 followers.
- 23:31And you know how sometimes the follower
- 23:32and the people that you're following count.
- 23:34They had 1,000 followers
- 23:36and they were following 2,000 people, right?
- 23:37It's like, I'm like, wait a second.
- 23:40These guys are billionaires
- 23:42with biggest companies in the world
- 23:43and they only have 1200 followers.
- 23:46So right then and there it showed me, man,
- 23:48like there's a difference between fame and impact.
- 23:53And I wanna have true impact.
- 23:54I'm not here to be famous.
- 23:56I remember I heard someone say,
- 23:57I don't care about the show, I want the dough.
- 24:00I don't care about the flash, I want the cash, right?
- 24:03In a unique sense.
- 24:04But for me, it's like I started to research that.
- 24:07And I started to realize, wow,
- 24:08I don't have to be Tony Robbins
- 24:11to make a Tony Robbins impact.
- 24:13But I don't have to be on stage all the time
- 24:16to make an impact.
- 24:17Because again, I saw Linda who was behind the scenes.
- 24:20She hates the stage.
- 24:21She hates the video.
- 24:23That's not her forte.
- 24:24But she was impacting lives behind the scenes,
- 24:27behind the scenes.
- 24:29So that, I guess, bled off on me a little bit.
- 24:32Don't get me wrong.
- 24:32I love the stage.
- 24:33I love getting up there, being in front of the room.
- 24:36It is addicting.
- 24:37It is something that, I will host bigger events.
- 24:40I will host events where there's 500 people,
- 24:43a thousand people, I will do that.
- 24:46But I started to realize, man,
- 24:47like true impact is made when the camera's off.
- 24:50So most of the things that I have documented,
- 24:54I have recordings on my phone from personal conversations,
- 24:58you know, from Bob, from Linda, from other people,
- 25:01where there's no cameras.
- 25:03And those are probably the biggest messages
- 25:05I've ever received.
- 25:07So I just learned that, man,
- 25:09is that stay in your lane, there's no traffic.
- 25:13And as long as you are actually impacting real people,
- 25:16don't worry, the universe will return.
- 25:19How it returns may not be on camera.
- 25:21It may be completely behind the scenes,
- 25:23but it will come back.
- 25:25That is so powerful too,
- 25:26because so much is fake right now.
- 25:31You know, everything is fake.
- 25:32Not everything.
- 25:33So much is fake.
- 25:34So much is plastic.
- 25:35So much is, I have a million followers.
- 25:38Yeah, but I bought 950,000 of them.
- 25:41You know, like they're bots, you know?
- 25:43Like, but the people who are actually just out there
- 25:46doing the work, the people who are out there
- 25:49just trying to change lives one person at a time,
- 25:52that's the impact.
- 25:53And I think impact is realness.
- 25:57Impact is the work.
- 25:59Whereas sometimes the cameras are the fluff or the image.
- 26:03That's it.
- 26:03There's a difference between image and impact.
- 26:06And if you concentrate on the impact,
- 26:08the image will follow,
- 26:10but it's gonna be true and real, not fluff.
- 26:13That's it.
- 26:14And I'll tell you this, man,
- 26:14not just Linda, Bob was a great example of that.
- 26:17Because again, most people know him,
- 26:21most people learned about him when he was 80.
- 26:26I met him when he was 80, right?
- 26:28Yeah, right.
- 26:29When he was 70 years old, right?
- 26:33But then again, what they did not see,
- 26:35which I'm, shout out to Linda,
- 26:37cause she put together the movie,
- 26:39the Bob Parker Legacy movie.
- 26:40If you haven't seen it, just go to bobparkerlegacy.com,
- 26:43sign up, you'll be able to watch the movie
- 26:45where she documented his journey, his story,
- 26:47as best as she could his whole life.
- 26:50It's amazing.
- 26:51I love the movie.
- 26:52It's incredible, man.
- 26:54Shout out to everybody that's involved,
- 26:55Tommy for putting it together,
- 26:58of course, Marnie, Tom, Gina,
- 27:00everybody that's involved on the team of BPL
- 27:02and his Bob's sons, Ray and Brian and everyone.
- 27:09But I saw that even today, as I start to study his story,
- 27:13I'm on YouTube and I'm looking at videos.
- 27:16I didn't realize how much content he put out
- 27:20before The Secret that no one knows about.
- 27:25How many stages he actually was on
- 27:29that there's not a camera for.
- 27:32I was listening to one of his audios on Audible.
- 27:34It just popped up as a recommendation.
- 27:35It was like, I forget the name of it.
- 27:38I was listening to it this morning, John,
- 27:40and it was, oh, actually it's not even his audio.
- 27:43It's Bernie Dorman's, all right.
- 27:46Bernie Dorman was one of his business partners
- 27:48and it's called Create Your Own Economy.
- 27:50So this is where he, Bernie Dorman had the CEO
- 27:52of Space Company and Bob had his Matrix
- 27:56and they merged it together and they did seminars.
- 27:59And in this audio, this was done, I think maybe 2010.
- 28:05In this audio, Bob talked about how,
- 28:09I'm on stage with you guys
- 28:11and there's 500 people in this room.
- 28:13He says, two weeks ago, I was in China
- 28:16or in India with thousands of people.
- 28:19And then in two weeks, I have an event in Lima, Peru
- 28:22with 36,000 people.
- 28:25And I'm like, where is this?
- 28:27Where's the footage?
- 28:28Where's the film of this, right?
- 28:31But he was actually doing that.
- 28:33It was the impact over the image.
- 28:36Impact over the image.
- 28:37How about doing an event with 36,000 people
- 28:41but there's no documentation, right?
- 28:43Other than the actual people that were there.
- 28:46But it wasn't about the image.
- 28:48It was about, we're about to make it real.
- 28:49And obviously in 2010, they didn't have cell phone cameras
- 28:53and they didn't have iPhones or videos
- 28:55where you could record everything.
- 28:57But that's why I love, and I love studying the Jim Rohns,
- 29:01the old guys that did not have that
- 29:04because they really made an impact.
- 29:07They really did something.
- 29:09They weren't concerned with,
- 29:11how am I gonna look on FaceTime?
- 29:14No, it was like, they're really on that stage.
- 29:17And either you really were, or you really weren't.
- 29:20Back in the day, you couldn't fake it.
- 29:23There was no filter.
- 29:25Sorry.
- 29:27There was no filter.
- 29:28There was no AI, you can AI yourself on stage now,
- 29:33put it on Instagram and say,
- 29:35just got done with an event in front of a thousand people.
- 29:38No, back in the day, either you did or you didn't.
- 29:41And that's the mold I want to live off of.
- 29:44I don't wanna fluff it.
- 29:46I don't wanna exaggerate it more than what it is.
- 29:48Of course, I understand marketing.
- 29:50I understand promotion.
- 29:51I understand when you market,
- 29:52you show the best thing or the best product that you got.
- 29:55I get that.
- 29:56You show in testimonials, with testimonial marketing,
- 30:00you're supposed to show the best testimonial
- 30:02from the best person that you have.
- 30:04I understand that.
- 30:05But then again, I also learned from other people
- 30:08that I've seen that no one would know about,
- 30:10but they've made millions about how it's just about
- 30:14the true impact that goes on behind the scenes.
- 30:17The small lives that you change.
- 30:20Because there's one quote I heard, man,
- 30:22God sees everything.
- 30:24Absolutely.
- 30:25The universe sees it all.
- 30:27I had a marketing guy tell me on my testimonials,
- 30:31he was like, okay, find your most attractive clients.
- 30:35And that's who you want to speak.
- 30:36And I got rid of it.
- 30:37I was like, we do not align.
- 30:40It is not about the most attractive client.
- 30:42It is about who had the most real transformation.
- 30:45Exactly.
- 30:47I would much rather hear someone in their 60s
- 30:50tell me about a transformation
- 30:51than have somebody in their 20s,
- 30:53just because they're in their 20s
- 30:55and they still have like really good skin.
- 30:57I wanna hear about how working with someone
- 31:00changes their lives.
- 31:01And that's where the transformation comes in
- 31:05and the reality over this kind of...
- 31:08And I don't believe that the fake
- 31:12is gonna continue to sell either.
- 31:13It seems like people are moving back to realism.
- 31:18Oh yeah.
- 31:19They're tired of seeing the fake and the AI.
- 31:20People are thirsting for authenticity.
- 31:23And it's so important to then be authentic.
- 31:27No one is ever gonna like everything
- 31:29Jason Solomon says or does.
- 31:32No one's ever gonna like everything
- 31:33that Jon Street says or does.
- 31:34No one liked everything Bob Proctor said or did.
- 31:37But by God, if we're not authentic,
- 31:39those people who are meant for us aren't gonna find us.
- 31:41We have to be authentic.
- 31:44That's it.
- 31:44And as you said that the sun disappeared,
- 31:46it's like, oh, thank you, Jon, right?
- 31:50Is God just saying, Jon,
- 31:51you just hit the nail on the head, right?
- 31:53But Jon, I'll tell you this, man.
- 31:55So that actually was a part of the thinking process
- 32:00that I had for my retreats, okay?
- 32:03Because during COVID,
- 32:05it was a very interesting time for me.
- 32:07I was used to traveling once a month.
- 32:09I was in Toronto.
- 32:10I was in LA.
- 32:12I was in Florida.
- 32:13I was somewhere, man, Germany.
- 32:15I was somewhere once a month for like five years, man.
- 32:19And when COVID hit,
- 32:23I went into this little rabbit hole
- 32:26like I think everybody got themselves into of, sorry,
- 32:30trying to figure out, man, what am I gonna do, right?
- 32:33What am I gonna do with this time?
- 32:34What am I gonna do with my life?
- 32:37And sometimes you fall into bad habits
- 32:39as I did fall into some bad habits, man.
- 32:42And I remember thinking,
- 32:45after COVID, people are gonna get tired of Zoom.
- 32:50They're gonna get tired of video chats.
- 32:53They're gonna get tired of watching things.
- 32:57They're gonna want like a real place they can go.
- 33:00They're gonna want real experiences that they can attend,
- 33:05and they're gonna want it with real people.
- 33:08And that was even the inspiration
- 33:09behind me starting my retreats
- 33:11because I was like, people,
- 33:12actually I had a call with a gentleman, Marcos.
- 33:16Marcos has come to every single retreat I've had.
- 33:18Shout out to Marcos.
- 33:19He was there in London.
- 33:20He was there in Utah.
- 33:21He was there in France.
- 33:22He says he's coming to Vegas.
- 33:24Marcos is an event junkie for a good reason.
- 33:28Me and him had a great conversation in France,
- 33:30and I said, bro, now it's your turn
- 33:32to start doing your own events.
- 33:33So he has his first event book,
- 33:34which I'm very proud of him.
- 33:36But I told him, I said, Marcos,
- 33:38people will pay for experiences,
- 33:43they'll pay for structure,
- 33:45and they'll pay for community.
- 33:48People will invest money for community,
- 33:52structure, and experiences.
- 33:55I said, so if you can create something
- 33:57that gives people a community,
- 34:00that gives them structure, right?
- 34:02Meaning if you have an event,
- 34:04you have some type of structure to it, right?
- 34:06That's why people love travel planners
- 34:09because they structure things for you.
- 34:11That's why Expedia has their platform set up,
- 34:14which is the bundle and safe,
- 34:15because it structures your flight and your hotel together.
- 34:17People will pay for a community,
- 34:21structure, and experiences.
- 34:24So if you can provide that to people,
- 34:28they will dump their wallets.
- 34:30I'm not telling people dump your wallets,
- 34:32but they will dump their wallets to be a part of that.
- 34:36They will pour into that
- 34:39because that is our natural inclination as human beings.
- 34:42There's a reason why we live in neighborhoods,
- 34:45because human beings, they need that.
- 34:48We're social beings.
- 34:49We're like lions, right?
- 34:50We have to be with the pride.
- 34:51So what the 2020s did for people,
- 34:56it made them realize like, okay, we need this.
- 35:00And I think AI, if you're gonna use it,
- 35:02it should enhance the experiences, right?
- 35:07It should allow you to create those experiences, man.
- 35:11And I think that's something that everyone's striving for.
- 35:13So my encouraging thing,
- 35:14which ultimately what I want to do with my retreats
- 35:17is I had something on my whiteboard
- 35:19called SM Retreats to Franchise,
- 35:21because eventually I want to be in a place
- 35:24where I can show people how to have their own, right?
- 35:26Teach people from that aspect
- 35:28of being able to create their own.
- 35:31I wasn't gonna do that until I did
- 35:33maybe five or six of my own, right?
- 35:36Because I'm not the person that's going to promote something
- 35:40without me doing it.
- 35:42I want to make sure I've done it.
- 35:43I want to make sure I've actually had the data,
- 35:47the experiences, the video proof, the testimonials.
- 35:51And then I eventually want to show people
- 35:52how to do those own experiences, man.
- 35:53So, because again, that's what people want.
- 35:57That's what people want, man.
- 35:59And as I look at the world today,
- 36:02people are spending so much money on these things
- 36:06that are not necessities, right?
- 36:09The average car costs, what, $1,000 a month?
- 36:13Then on top of it, $300 a month for insurance.
- 36:16So, the average new car is costing you
- 36:19one-fourth of your check, right?
- 36:25Or one-third of the average check.
- 36:27And people are spending $1,000 a month on a car
- 36:31and they haven't even left their state.
- 36:33They haven't even left the country.
- 36:35I ask people all the time, you got a passport?
- 36:37No, you don't have a passport.
- 36:40You don't travel.
- 36:43No, invest your money into assets and experiences.
- 36:47Two things that will grow you, assets and experiences.
- 36:50And whatever people consider as assets,
- 36:52I look at my retreats as assets.
- 36:54I treat it like Bitcoin, right?
- 36:56Even though if you invest money into experiences,
- 36:59you don't see the actual money in the account, right?
- 37:01But if you put your income and your time
- 37:05and your resources into something,
- 37:08then that thing will eventually pour back into you
- 37:11in a bigger way.
- 37:11And that's kind of where we're going
- 37:13with these retreats and the experiences,
- 37:15where now if I launch one, it will sell out.
- 37:19People, there's a demand for it now.
- 37:21So again, man, people will pay for those experiences, John.
- 37:24So, I just encourage people to,
- 37:26if you can't host them, attend them.
- 37:28And then once you attend them, go as a student, not a fan.
- 37:32Be a student.
- 37:33See how you can create this for yourself
- 37:36or how you can do this for yourself
- 37:37or do this for your audience
- 37:38or do this for your environment.
- 37:41I have a question that I want to ask you,
- 37:43but I wanna, before I do,
- 37:45I think something you just hit on is so important.
- 37:49I love, I totally thought you were gonna say,
- 37:53my retreats are an experience,
- 37:55but you said my retreat is an asset.
- 37:58And that is so true
- 38:00because people think about an investment,
- 38:04if they're gonna invest in an asset,
- 38:05then they're gonna look at buying property, multifamily.
- 38:08They're gonna look at investing in stocks
- 38:11or bonds or whatever.
- 38:12$10,000 invested in a coaching program,
- 38:17$10,000 invested in a retreat
- 38:20could bring about million dollar ideas.
- 38:24Like the return on investment
- 38:26when you invest in self mastery
- 38:30is infinite.
- 38:32It's infinite.
- 38:33It's something that can just return
- 38:34over and over and over again.
- 38:36But because we're not taught about that type of investing,
- 38:38a lot of times people don't get that.
- 38:41So I love that you said that your retreats are an asset.
- 38:44They absolutely are.
- 38:45And I'm attending, for anyone who watches this,
- 38:49that is like, how can I hear about this?
- 38:51We'll talk about it at the end,
- 38:51but I'm attending the one in Las Vegas
- 38:53and I can't wait to be there
- 38:54because anyone watching this
- 38:57is already getting a taste of what it's like
- 39:00to hear Jason Solomon speak.
- 39:01And to be in the room is gonna make it even more powerful.
- 39:07Even more.
- 39:09You know what's interesting, John?
- 39:10I heard a quote that said,
- 39:11you can always count how many C's are in an apple,
- 39:13but you can never count how many apples are in a C.
- 39:16Wow.
- 39:17And that struck me because I think that's how,
- 39:23the reason why people don't look at their personal growth
- 39:25as an investment,
- 39:27they don't look at, let's say,
- 39:28even their business as an investment
- 39:31is because they don't know how many apples are in the C.
- 39:35They can't calculate that.
- 39:38They see how many C's they have,
- 39:41but it's not like the S&P 500 where you can say,
- 39:43okay, you're gonna get an annual 7% return,
- 39:46because it's done this the last 20 years.
- 39:49So when they buy Think and Grow Rich for $10,
- 39:53they look at the price, not the value.
- 39:55And so I think if people can have the ability,
- 39:59and our brains have this ability, man,
- 40:01and I'm not gonna get too scientific,
- 40:02but study Dr. Joe Dispenza
- 40:04if you want the real science behind this.
- 40:06Your brain has the ability to forecast.
- 40:08All right, no different than how the weather,
- 40:10they can say, like, right now, John, it's hot out here, man.
- 40:13I don't even know why I sat outside.
- 40:14I'm sweating bullets right now.
- 40:16It's like 90 degrees at 11 a.m. in the morning.
- 40:18But I love it, man.
- 40:20This is why this is a real-time feed, authentic podcast.
- 40:23I remember watching Gary Vee.
- 40:25Gary Vee has on, like, a beanie hat,
- 40:26you know, fuzzy face of hair.
- 40:29You know, he hasn't shaved in three days.
- 40:31Eyes are low, and he's just in there killing the podcast,
- 40:34right, and people are responding.
- 40:35So this is a Gary Vee moment.
- 40:37Sweaty, hot, but real.
- 40:41But anyways, man, our brains have the ability to forecast.
- 40:44We can literally project images on the screen of our mind,
- 40:48and we can put together scenarios.
- 40:50So here's an example of forecasting.
- 40:52You can see, if I drink Coca-Cola every single day,
- 40:55two times a day for the next 365 days,
- 40:57I can get a somewhat image of what my body
- 40:59and my energy is gonna look like, right?
- 41:02Same way you can do that,
- 41:03same way you can project the other things.
- 41:05So I did the mental forecasting with my retreats,
- 41:08and I said, you know what?
- 41:10If I continue to do this,
- 41:12I'm gonna create not just a demand.
- 41:15I'm gonna create an environment, right?
- 41:18And I remember a mentor told me,
- 41:20he said, you can't change people.
- 41:21He said, you can only create the environment
- 41:23that induces change.
- 41:25So I get to create an environment.
- 41:27I get to create something like church.
- 41:30I don't look at church as a building.
- 41:31I think church as an environment, right?
- 41:33People look at church,
- 41:34they look forward to it at Sunday at 9 a.m.
- 41:36Even if you don't go to church,
- 41:37you know when it is, you know what day it is,
- 41:39because it's been taking place the last 2,000 years.
- 41:42It's no longer an event, it's an environment.
- 41:45That is a wrap for part one with Jason Solomon.
- 41:48He is so dynamic.
- 41:49I love to interview him,
- 41:50and I cannot wait for you to see part two that's coming up.
- 41:54It'll drop on Thursday, July 16th.
