- 0:00Good morning everyone. Welcome back to unlocking the
- 0:03Paradigm Portal. My name is Sarah and it is
- 0:06Friday. And if you've been with me this
- 0:09week, and I mean really with me, I need you to take a second
- 0:12before we dive in and just acknowledge that I really wish I
- 0:15had one of those applause sound effects.
- 0:18So Monday we talked about becoming the lighthouse and then
- 0:21Tuesday night we sat with fear and what it does to our
- 0:24decisions. And Wednesday, I pushed you hard
- 0:28to stop waiting, to feel ready and take one action before the
- 0:31sun went down. Did you do it?
- 0:35And last night we went deep into learning the difference between
- 0:38your intuition and your fear, between the voice that just
- 0:42knows and the voice that's just scared.
- 0:46So this is a full week of inner work and that is everything.
- 0:51Seriously, it's everything. And most people are too afraid
- 0:55to do it or too afraid of what they may find.
- 1:00And you're not. And I'm proud of you.
- 1:02High 5 yourself. You're going to hear a lot of me
- 1:04saying high 5 yourself today because I'm feeling good.
- 1:08So before we go anywhere today, just put your hand on your heart
- 1:13for just a second. Like literally put your hand on
- 1:15your chest. Did you take that one action on
- 1:19Wednesday? Did you and did you lay that one
- 1:24stone? I don't care how small it is.
- 1:26It can be something as simple as I drank a glass of water high 5
- 1:31yay, that's a victory. It can be something really big
- 1:35like, I don't know, I, I actually made an entire program
- 1:38this week that was super huge and it's awesome and I'm excited
- 1:42and I will talk about that at a later date.
- 1:45So if you did take lay the one stone, you figured it out.
- 1:50You took action. I want you to feel that.
- 1:53Don't brush past it. Don't minimize it.
- 1:56And don't say, yeah, but it was just one small thing.
- 1:58I don't give a crap. One small thing matters.
- 2:02So feel it. That was you choosing your
- 2:05future over your comfort zone. That's a big deal.
- 2:08That was you being the lighthouse instead of waiting
- 2:12for someone else to light the way.
- 2:15And if you didn't, that's OK too.
- 2:18That's what today is for. We don't shame here.
- 2:21I don't shame, I don't blame, I don't judge, I don't criticize.
- 2:24We are all on our own journey, making our own choices and
- 2:28having to find our own path. I'm just here to encourage you
- 2:31to lay one stone. So we're just going to keep
- 2:34going because today I want to talk about the one principle
- 2:39that I believe more than almost anything else.
- 2:43And you will probably hear me say that repeatedly because
- 2:45there's a lot of things that I super believe in.
- 2:48And that is the difference between the people who transform
- 2:51their lives and the people who stay stuck in the same loop year
- 2:56after year after year. It's not about talent, it's not
- 3:00about timing, and it certainly isn't about resources or
- 3:04connections or luck. It's this.
- 3:07The people who change their lives are the ones who do one
- 3:10thing consistently, even when it feels too small to matter.
- 3:15Pebbles matter too, and I'm calling it the one Stone Rule 1
- 3:21stone every day, no matter what. No matter if it's a big stone or
- 3:26a teeny, teeny tiny stone. Not ten stones when you're
- 3:30feeling motivated, or 0 stones when you're not.
- 3:33Not a perfect week followed by a complete collapse. 1 stone laid
- 3:38with intention every single day. And here's why this works.
- 3:43And I want you to really hear the signs of this.
- 3:45Because it's not woo woo. It's not motivational fluff.
- 3:49It's how your brain actually operates.
- 3:52Your brain is a pattern recognition machine.
- 3:55It is constantly scanning your behavior and drawing conclusions
- 3:58about who you are. So every action you take is a
- 4:02vote. It's a vote for the identity
- 4:05you're either building or dismantling.
- 4:08And when you lay one stone, when you take one small, consistent
- 4:12action toward the person that you're becoming, your brain
- 4:15registers it not as a big dramatic transformation.
- 4:18And that's where most people get hung up.
- 4:20They want the easy button. They want to already be at the
- 4:22finish line. Sorry, friends, that's not how
- 4:25it works. And as a data point, this is who
- 4:28I am. This is what I do.
- 4:31And here's what's extraordinary about that.
- 4:34The action doesn't have to be big.
- 4:38In fact, it's better if it's not.
- 4:40Because big, dramatic actions are hard to sustain.
- 4:44They require enormous energy and perfect conditions and the right
- 4:48mood and enough sleep. And do you see where I'm going?
- 4:51Here you can find all the reasons to avoid doing it.
- 4:55Or you can take these small actions that can be done on your
- 4:59worst day. They can be done when you're
- 5:02exhausted and overwhelmed and the last thing you feel like
- 5:05doing is growing. And it's those days, the days
- 5:08that you lay the stone anyway. Despite the fatigue, despite the
- 5:12frustration, despite everything feeling like it's just out of
- 5:16control around you. You lay that stone, and that
- 5:21will build the strongest part of your lighthouse.
- 5:25So think about water and rock for a second.
- 5:28Water doesn't carve the Grand Canyon in a day, right?
- 5:32And it doesn't show up 1 morning with enormous force and dramatic
- 5:36impact and reshape the landscape in one single massive heroic
- 5:40effort. It just keeps moving,
- 5:42consistently, persistently, without apology and without
- 5:47stopping. And over time, over patient,
- 5:50relentless, unsexy time, it carves something breathtaking.
- 5:57You are the water, your life is the rock, and you're 1 stone.
- 6:03Every day is the current that never stops.
- 6:09Now I want to get specific with you because I don't do vague
- 6:12here. I am all about full
- 6:14transparency. I don't read between the lines.
- 6:17I don't deal with bullshit. Vague is where good intentions
- 6:21go to die. Have you ever heard someone say
- 6:25the path to hell is paved with good intentions?
- 6:27Intentions. That's, you know, a thing.
- 6:32But our intentions backed up by action.
- 6:36So your one stone is not the same as mine.
- 6:39It's not the same as the person listening to this in their car
- 6:42next to you. Your one stone is the specific,
- 6:47concrete, non negotiable daily action that moves you toward the
- 6:52life, the relationship, the career, the version of yourself
- 6:55that you decided you were building.
- 6:57You decided, I say this all the time, what do you want?
- 7:03Most people don't allow themselves the time to actually
- 7:06answer that or they get so frustrated they just give up and
- 7:11say I don't know. And then they keep doing the
- 7:13same things over and over again. But you, my friend, you are here
- 7:18still listening to this at like 8 minutes in.
- 7:22So that tells me you give a shit and you want to make change.
- 7:27So I'm going to ask you and I want you to actually answer this
- 7:31out loud if you can so that you can get it into your head.
- 7:35Even if you're alone in the car, even if you're with other
- 7:38people. I don't care.
- 7:40What are you building? Answer that.
- 7:44Not what you wish you were building.
- 7:46That's a Daydream and a fantasy, not what you think you should be
- 7:49building. That's other people's
- 7:51expectations. But what are you actually
- 7:53building? What is the thing that lights
- 7:56you up? The thing that scares you a
- 7:58little bit, or a lot of it? The thing that you keep coming
- 8:01back to, even when you try to talk yourself out of it?
- 8:05Name it. Put it into words.
- 8:09Now, what is the one stone for that thing, the one action small
- 8:13enough to do every single day without perfect conditions, that
- 8:17moves you forward? Is it writing one paragraph?
- 8:21Is it making one phone call? Sending a text, having one
- 8:26honest conversation? Doing one session, whether it's
- 8:32body work or therapy or going to the doctor, whatever it may be,
- 8:37sending 1 e-mail or saying one true thing out loud.
- 8:43Name that thing too. Because here's what I know about
- 8:46the people who show up to their lives.
- 8:48They really show up. And I don't mean they just are
- 8:50surviving their life. They're not superhuman.
- 8:54They're not endlessly motivated. They do not have easier
- 8:58circumstances or fewer obstacles or more hours in the day.
- 9:02They just refuse to let a day pass without laying one stone,
- 9:07even on the days that that stone feels impossibly heavy.
- 9:12And I'm getting this visual in my head of that the Greek half
- 9:16human, half God. Was it Perseus?
- 9:18I can't remember the one that had to keep pushing the stone up
- 9:20the hill. If anybody remembers what that
- 9:22one is, put it in the comments please.
- 9:24So even on the days that nobody is watching, they don't let a
- 9:29day pass without laying one stone.
- 9:31Even on the days that they wonder if any of it is working,
- 9:35they lay the stone and they trust the wall.
- 9:39So you made it to Friday again, High 5 yourself.
- 9:43That means you survived another week of whatever life is
- 9:46currently asking of you. And it is asking a lot, I know
- 9:49it is. But you're here and you showed
- 9:52up for yourself this morning when you could have hit snooze
- 9:55and scrolled and sleepwalked into your day.
- 9:57Because it is 6 frickin AM. That was a stone.
- 10:01So here is your Friday challenge, and this one carries
- 10:04you into the weekend. I want you to write it down.
- 10:06Like actually write it. Not just think about it #1 what
- 10:10are you building? Get clear.
- 10:13Very picture it, very pristine, precise, laser focus, clear #2
- 10:20what your one daily stone is. What is your one daily stone for
- 10:26today #3 what did you lay this week?
- 10:31Even the small stones, Especially the small ones.
- 10:33What stones did you lay this week?
- 10:36And then I want you to look at that list and recognize that you
- 10:39are not the person who is waiting for their life to
- 10:42change. You are the person who is
- 10:44changing it one stone at a time. The lighthouse was built that
- 10:49way and so are you. So I hope that you have the best
- 10:53Friday ever and get your ass out there and lay your stone.
- 10:59Let's go. It's time to move.
