- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans, welcome into Duval, daily presented by Jinjag.com and fueled by brass tax coffee right now.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Monday, September 14th, I'm your host Jordan Delugo.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for tuning in here on a victory Monday for your Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars are 1-0 by themselves at the top of the AFC South.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: And we've been reviewing this game already, but wanted to offer
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: standouts on both sides of the ball.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we do here.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: Right now we're just going to do defense.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: We'll do offense for tomorrow morning, Tuesday morning, excited to review.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: I've already watched the game a couple of times.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to keep diving into the tape and seeing different things and it's just
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: This is exactly what the Jaguars looked like down the stretch last year, in most games.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, the Browns are not a very good team, although I do think that they're a talented team, like maybe not one of the most talented teams in football, but they have talent at every level of their team outside of it looks like the quarterback position right now.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know how talented or untalented the...
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: Browns back-ups are, right?
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: But we do know that Deshawn Watson is not the answer.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that was clear before this game and is clear after this game.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: But we're going to get into the Jaguar's defensive stand.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: I was really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: Support in the channel.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Love talking, jacks football with y'all all the time.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: You can always hit that high button.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: We also have our Victory Monday sale going on over at genjag.com, a lot of fun merch up there.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: All you got to do is type in that code Duval, DUVAL for 34% off everything on the website today to celebrate Victory Monday.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll go ahead and get in these defensive standouts here.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: Ventral Miller, player who a lot of people thought the Jaguars should have kept Devon Lloyd.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: Ventral Miller goes out and has one of the best games he's had as a Jaguar, and like people seem to forget he did start four games last year, and he played exceedingly well in those four games.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: He comes in this year has a full off season of really being the start.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: I know Branson Coleman was competing, but it felt like Ventral was the guy.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: For especially once the preseason started, it looked like Ventral was the more...
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: Just ready.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's been in the NFL longer.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: He's played the landbacker position a lot longer.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Branson combs, he wasn't playing landbacker all too long.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like he played some in college, but before that, he played some receiver.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: So, I think Ventral Miller's just further along, and he's a stronger player.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think more physical than then Branson, but Branson got in there and did some good things.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: But I think it was clear once the preseason started that Vintro was more capable of being a high-impact run defender for the Jaguars and being somebody who can play through contact and fight through blocks and all that sort of stuff and you saw him making plays and just about every way in this game.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: Um, foe Luke is first interception.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: Vintro Miller was blitzing and he was the one that caused Sean Watson to get rid of that football when he got rid of it and foe was Johnny on the spot
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: but give credit to ventral for getting that quick pressure.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: And then he leads to the team and tackles.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: He's all over the field.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: He's hitting guys.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: He forces a punches out, right?
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: That was a huge play in the game as well.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there's so many huge plays by the jack horse in this game.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: But that was a big play.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: Overall, I mean, the guy, again, a sack, a pressure that leads to an interception,
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: a punch out, five stops, 10 total tackles, and the stops are huge because stops are plays, you know, according to PFF, a stop is a play and I can read the exact, a defensive stop is a tackle that constitutes a failure for the offense.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: So you're talking about tackles on third down tackles that do not keep the, the offense, you know, good down in distance.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: plays it, that are big for your defense.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: And then in the coverage part of things, he was only targeted twice in coverage had two receptions, but it was for six total yards.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: Ventrel was excellent for the Jaguars, and that's huge for him because he's a guy that is in a contract a year, and I thought that you might get a nice, I thought you would get a nice performance from Ventrel
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: in this season regardless of it was a contract year but the contract year bump it does help out a lot like it usually leads to guys playing their best ball and I think that's exactly what you saw in this game from Ventral Miller just making plays at every opportunity.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: Highest grade of Jaguar by PFF by a pretty wide margin on the defensive side of the ball had a 92.4 overall grade.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Shout out to Ventrell for having a great game.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I mentioned Branson as well.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: He only played 15 snaps, where his Ventrell played 33, so I think he clearly looked at Ventrell as as the guy moving forward as the starter, but Branson will get reps and certain situations.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: He got more reps in this one than he maybe normally would have because the Jaguars did put a lot of backups, and they wanted to get young guys more run in this football game, but Branson combs did some nice things as well.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: He was the one that got credited for the sack
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: You know, trying to flip it up, and I think Deshawn Watson's forearm and wrist was on the ground before he was able to flip the ball back.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, Credit Branson comes for that.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: He was flying around a little bit, I had four tackles I believe, I had to stop the sack.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: He did good in his first action there for the Jaguars this season.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: And I mentioned FOIA Luke and with the Interception, he played great ball too.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: FOIA Luke and was awesome.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: He allowed a couple of catches in primary coverage, not too many yards.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: He was making a bunch of plays, and he almost had a second interception.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I would love to see FOIA be able to have a proble year or even like an all-pro year, because he's been one of the most underrated linebackers and players in the NFL for a long time.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: He's in a great system now the last couple of years with Anthony Campanile and the fact
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: are Ventrell, Branson, and Foye, again, credit to them, but it's credit to Anthony Campanile, because everywhere he's been the last few years, those linebackers are played in an extremely high level.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think he does a good job of putting them in position to succeed based on their skill sets, right?
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: And Ventrell.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: tough-tuff player.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: Branson Combs, he's been working his butt off since he got here as an un-drafted for agent, and we know what type of leader and worker and competitor the FOIA Luke and his, so shout out to Campanile, Tim Lucobo, the Jaguar's linebacker coach as well, and then obviously the players, FinTrail Branson FOIA, awesome stuff from them.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: Looking at Josh Hines Allen, I think,
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: so many place in this game.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: Even if Josh Heinz Allen isn't like the first one there, he gets there immediately, like whether that's as a run defender, a pursuit defender, setting the edge.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, he had a bunch of pressures in this game, led the jack, we're actually trying to walk or let the jack was in pressures.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: But Josh Hines Allen had five pressures.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: He had a sack and a half.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: I actually like the way PFF counts, sacks.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: If you have a half a sack, that's a full sack.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that makes sense personally, but obviously an official tallying.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: You still have half sacks in the NFL.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: According to the official stat sheet.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: But Josh Hines Allen had a sack and a half.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: He had, again, five pressures.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: He had three tackles, five stops.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: I also thought Trayvon Walker was really good.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: They move him around the front.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: He does so much like his pursuit of Dishon Watson for his sack that he got, his full sack that he got, where Dishon Watson looks like he has some green grass and Trayvon Walker just hustles his butt off to go get over there.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: You see, he's an incredible athlete in his size, but he had seven pressuries.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: He had a sack and a half.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: He had four hurries, just making a ton of plays for the Jaguar's defense.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: I thought Trayvon Walker was really good.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to shout out as well, Devon Hamilton, talking about that defensive front.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: Devon, he played high energy.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there was a play early on in the game where Judkins, I think he still got four or five yards.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: And Eric Murray finishes it up with a nice hit on Judkins.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: But Devon Hamilton from his nose tackle spot is hustling out to the boundary and making sure that he's taking on a blocker that would actually be able to probably block Eric Murray in that situation.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought that was a play that like nobody's going to talk about, but it was a big time play.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: And then you actually have the plays on the interior from Devon where he is just
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: demolishing a block or one on one and making a huge tackle at or behind the line of scrimmage.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: So Devon Hamilton continued to do the things you would expect him to do as the Jaguars nose tackle as one of the best run defending defensive tackles in all of football.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I got her in mind y'all.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: I had the Jaguars.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_00]: They were 9.0f to over at my bookie.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_00]: I told y'all I was taking them as 9.0f and hopefully y'all did too.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: But my bookie website, it's easy to use on desktop or mobile, like very good user experience.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: They've got all the action you could want NFL and beyond, and they've also got right now for you.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars over under 9.5wins.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm taking the over on that in a big way over at my booking.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: If you're new, you can use my promo code Duval DuVal.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: Do you VAL all caps, claim your first bet risk free up to $500.

- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: And looking at the Jack Wars, the rest of their defensive standouts here.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: How about Travis Hunter?
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: How about Travis Hunter?
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about the landbackers, talked about the guys up front, a good bit.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think Travis Hunter was just what you wanted.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: He was targeted one time in primary coverage.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: He played 29 snaps on the defensive side of the ball.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I think this is kind of the beauty of the way that Jack Wars have assembled their corner back room and wide receiver room.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't have to play a significant amount of snaps in games where you're up.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: and you can rest them up, get them focused on like the teaching points, the coaching points, all that stuff.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, in a game where you have like upcoming this weekend against Denver, you might need him for a full 60 minutes.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, there's just so much more talent in Denver.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: better coaching in Denver.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: So like being able to rest him a little bit, I think down the stretch is huge, and because they have Jarian Jones, Monterey, Brown, Jordan Lewis, and even Christian Braswell, they have the ability to rest him if they need to in the same thing on the offensive side of the ball when you have the group of receivers that the Jaguar is currently have.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: So Travis Hunter though, targeted one time in primary coverage.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: He was out there for 21 coverage reps.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: gave up a completion for four yards.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: It was a little underneath nothing play, right?
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter did exactly what you asked for for the Jaguars in this game.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he can just continue to ascend, continue to look better as the Jaguars number one corner.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: That is so cool that they have a guy like that.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: Something really interesting.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: Caleb Ranslop was out there for 33 defensive snaps.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Eric Murray was out there for 33 defensive snaps.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: Early in the game, Eric Murray was on the field more than Caleb Ranslop.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: But you're going to see a lot of three safety sets for the GI worse, right?
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: Antonio Johnson, 45 place.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: Eric Murray, 33 place.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: And again, as I mentioned, Caleb Ransal, 33 place.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_00]: And Ransal made some plays out there.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: He was doing very well for himself as the Jaguar's third safety.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: This is a guy if you forget, because it'd be easy to forget, you know, he was a third round pick in 2025.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: Mr's entire rookie season didn't have like this, incredibly splashy camp.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he had a good camp this year.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: I did think he had a good camp, but he played very well for the Jaguars in this one.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: Made plays all around the field, I thought looked good in coverage, looked good in pursuit, and it is easy to forget that he is a guy that is a premier athlete at the NFL level.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: like 43, 40-40 inch vertical, crazy athlete that has good bulk to him.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: Like he's not just like 180, 190 pound guy out there that's a crazy athlete.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: He's got good size and he's got great athleticism.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's the type of player.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like the jackwares have done a very good job of intentionally bringing in people that they think are all about ball that are bought into the system.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Caleb Ransal is another one of those guys.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: So shout out to Kayla Branson for playing a lot, 33 snap, some of that was, you know, later down the stretch, but he was in there for some big moments early on as well.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: In those three safety sets, so I thought that was really cool to see for Kayla Branson.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'll play her that a lot of people have kind of just put by the wayside and forgotten about.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars didn't forget about him, and I think fans are not going to be able to forget about him either when he gets on the field and makes, excuse me, makes plays the way he did in this game.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: Buster Brown, I thought played very well, and obviously he was the cover man on the touchdown to Denzel Boston in Garbage Time.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_00]: I really, obviously, from a coaching standpoint, you're going to coach up that play for Monterey against Denzel.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to try to improve the technique, all that stuff, but Denzel Boston's a very talented young player.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about that all week.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: it was a garbage time touchdown.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: It was like the end of the game.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes you're just going to give up plays that you would not intentionally, but just because you're not as locked in at the end of a game when you're up 34 to 3 as you would be in the first half when it's still somewhat a ballgame, right?
- 14:35[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's that part of it.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: He gave up what was a 59 yard touchdown, but outside of that play, I thought Buster Brown played really, really well for the Jaguars 2.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: He is a player who is so physical against the run.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: He had four tackles.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: had two stops, which is really great for a corner to have two stops.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: Again, two plays that are failures for the offense as a tackle.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: Outside of the 59 yarder, he allowed, he ended up, excuse me, what was it?
- 15:05[SPEAKER_00]: He had allowed 59 total, it was a 46 yarder, again, for Denzel Boston, that touchdown.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_00]: But outside of that, he allowed 13 total yards in coverage.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: 13 on four targets.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: So you'll eliminate the one.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: So on the three other times he was targeted in primary coverage, he gave up 13 yards.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's pretty darn good.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: Pretty darn good for Monterey Buster Brown.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: I know the touchdown is not going to look good on his stat sheet or throughout the season that one's kind of going to bring his grade down a little bit.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_00]: But you
- 15:37[SPEAKER_00]: He was very good for the Jaguars.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_00]: Sojari and Jones out there, I thought he played well.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: He was able to stick with, I think that was also Denzel Boston, down the field on a play where Dishon Watson targeted him.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: And there was just no chance of completing it, because it was such tight coverage for Jari and Jones there.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: He was targeted three times in primary coverage, allowed one reception for five yards.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, good for Jory and making some plays.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: I think he had a missed tackle out there, but that to me was not a major issue at all.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_00]: I think those are the guys that really stood out in a super positive way.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_00]: Eric Garmstedt on tape, I think, looked fine, but he did not have a ton of splash in his game in this one, and so you want to see him kind of pick up the, he didn't have a pressure.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think he can pick up the pace though a little bit moving forward into next week, but when you have
- 16:29[SPEAKER_00]: a defense that is firing on all cylinders the way the Jaguar is were not everyone is going to get the big big numbers right it's just not going to be the way it is week to week but I think Eric arms that played well enough that I feel he will have an opportunity to take a step forward and you know get a sack next week pick up some pressures next week against the Denver Broncos shout out to the entire defense shout out to Anthony Campanile that defensive staff
- 16:59[SPEAKER_00]: I saw Matthew O'Rujo getting fired up and actually talking, I think talking a little mess to Jerry Judy on the sideline.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: So that was pretty cool.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: O'Rujo is such a fiery coach.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's past game coordinator, and he's basically also the cornerbacks coach, but yeah, that was cool to see.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_00]: Just these Jaguars, they're different.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: This is not your same old Jaguars that you've been seeing.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, they looked very similar to what you saw down the stretch last year,
- 17:29[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, got this offense and this team going and the way Anthony Campineela has come in and guided this defense along with the help of his entire staff.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: It is truly, it is truly aside to be hold and they're going to have to go prove it against a really good team next week.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_00]: But it's a team that have some familiarity with.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: They played them last year and they did a pretty darn good job against them.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: We'll preview that game a lot moving forward, but we're still sticking with this Brown's contest.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: Again, your linebackers lead the way, your linebackers, and your star, past-rusher, Josh Hines Allen, and Trifon Walker, those were the big time standout performers in my opinion in this game.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all being here.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe, you can also hit that high button.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all have a good one.
