1:21
to
1:21
know
1:21
without
1:22
the
1:22
fluff.
1:23
Now
1:23
let's
1:24
get
1:24
this
1:24

1:25
started
1:25
with

our

host,
1:26
Eric

1:27
And
1:27
John
1:28
Dudley.
1:29
Welcome
1:30
to
1:30
the
1:30
around
1:30
the
1:31
House
1:31
show,
1:31
the
1:32
next
1:32
generation
1:33
of
1:33
home
1:34
improvement.
1:35
This
1:35
is
1:35
your
1:35
trusted
1:36
source
1:36
for
1:36
everything
1:37
about
1:37
your
1:37
home,
1:38
and
1:38
we
1:38
got
1:38
a
1:38
great
1:39
one
1:39
today.
1:39
I'm
1:40
Eric
1:40
G.
1:41
Johnny,
1:41
great
1:42
to
1:42
see
1:42
you,
1:42
brother.
1:43
Thanks
1:43
for
1:43
having
1:43
me,
1:44
brother.
1:44
Always
1:44
fun.
1:45
Always
1:46
fun.
1:46
And
1:46
this
1:46
is
1:46
going
1:47
to
1:47
be
1:47
a
1:47
great
1:47
one
1:47
because
1:48
this
1:48
is
1:48
something
1:48
that,
1:49
if
1:49
you've
1:50
been
1:50
listening
1:50
recently,
1:51
Dudley
1:52
and
1:52
I
1:52
have
1:52
been
1:52
waving
1:53
the
1:53
flag
1:53
on
1:53
a
1:54
lot.
1:54
But
1:54
we
1:54
have
1:55
a
1:55
great
1:55
guest
1:56
today.
1:56
We
1:57
got
1:57
Joseph
1:57
Brinkman,
1:58
who's
1:58
an
1:58
associate
1:59
attorney
1:59
with
1:59
Williams
2:00
and
2:00
Tucink,
2:01
focusing
2:02
his
2:02
practice
2:02
on
2:02
land
2:03
use,
2:03
zoning,
2:04
real
2:04
estate
2:05
litigation,
2:06
and
2:07
everything
2:07
about
2:07
your
2:08
home,
2:08
including,
2:09
did
2:09
you
2:10
hire
2:10
that
2:10
contractor
2:11
correctly?
2:12
Joseph,
2:13
welcome
2:13
to
2:14
around
2:14
the
2:14
House.
2:15
Thank
2:16
you,
2:16
guys.
2:16
I
2:16
appreciate
2:17
being
2:17
here,
2:17
and
2:18
I'm
2:18
excited
2:18
to.
2:19
To
2:19
get
2:20
into
2:20
this
2:20
stuff,
2:21
man.
2:21
This
2:21
is.
2:21
This
2:22
is
2:22
just
2:22
something
2:22
that
2:23
John
2:23
and
2:23
I
2:23
have
2:23
been
2:24
talking
2:24
about
2:24
a
2:25
lot
2:25
because
2:26
there
2:26
are
2:27
so
2:27
many
2:27
things
2:28
as
2:28
a
2:28
homeowner
2:29
you're
2:29
not
2:29
prepared
2:30
for.
2:31
And
2:32
I
2:32
think
2:32
what's
2:33
even
2:33
making
2:33
it
2:33
worse
2:34
these
2:34
days
2:34
are
2:35
some
2:35
of
2:35
these
2:35
websites
2:36
like
2:37
Nextdoor
2:38
and
2:38
Craigslist
2:39
and
2:40
all
2:40
of
2:40
these
2:40
things
2:40
where
2:41
somebody
2:41
comes
2:41
out
2:41
and
2:42
goes,
2:42
yeah,
2:42
I'll
2:42
do
2:42
that
2:42
for
2:43
$400,
2:45
and
2:45
off
2:45
you
2:45
go.
2:46
And
2:47
that
2:47
big
2:47
noise
2:47
you
2:48
hear
2:48
is
2:48
the
2:48
liability
2:49
door
2:49
opening.
2:50
Yeah,
2:51
absolutely.
2:52
I
2:52
mean,
2:52
if
2:52
it
2:52
sounds
2:53
cheap,
2:53
it's
2:53
like,
2:53
I
2:54
mean,
2:54
I'm
2:54
the
2:54
same
2:54
way.
2:54
If
2:54
I.
2:55
If
2:55
I
2:55
feel
2:56
a
2:56
deal
2:56
out
2:56
there,
2:57
I'm
2:57
going
2:57
to
2:57
take
2:57
it.
2:58
Yeah.
2:59
And
2:59
it's
2:59
dangerous
3:00
because
3:01
as
3:01
I've
3:02
always
3:02
said
3:02
to
3:02
people
3:02
on
3:03
this
3:03
show
3:03
for
3:03
years,
3:04
if
3:04
you
3:04
hire
3:05
somebody
3:05
to
3:05
go
3:05
up
3:06
and
3:06
clean
3:06
your
3:06
gutters
3:07
and
3:07
they
3:07
fall
3:07
off
3:07
and
3:08
get
3:08
hurt,
3:09
they're
3:09
your
3:09
employee.
3:10
Correct.
3:11
Which
3:11
means
3:12
you're
3:12
in
3:12
charge
3:12
of
3:12
their
3:13
medical
3:13
expenses
3:14
and
3:14
everything
3:15
else
3:15
that
3:15
goes
3:15
along
3:16
with
3:16
that.
3:17
You
3:17
want
3:17
to
3:17
cut
3:18
off
3:18
the
3:18
liability
3:19
chain
3:19
as
3:19
quick
3:19
as
3:19
you
3:20
can
3:20
and
3:20
as
3:20
efficiently
3:21
as
3:21
you
3:21
can.
3:22
So.
3:22
Absolutely.
3:24
So
3:24
what
3:24
are
3:24
some
3:24
of
3:25
your
3:25
tips,
3:25
brother,
3:25
for
3:26
really
3:26
trying
3:27
to
3:27
do
3:27
that,
3:28
you
3:28
don't
3:28
get
3:28
yourself
3:29
in
3:29
trouble.
3:30
Yeah,
3:30
I
3:30
mean,
3:30
I
3:31
think
3:31
when
3:31
it
3:31
comes
3:31
to.
3:32
And
3:32
I
3:32
guess
3:32
I'm
3:32
kind
3:33
of
3:33
tailoring
3:33
all
3:34
of
3:34
this
3:34
to
3:35
home
3:35
renovation
3:36
projects.
3:37
Nothing
3:37
commercial.
3:38
This
3:38
is
3:38
just.
3:38
Yeah,
3:38
this
3:39
is
3:39
home
3:39
renovation
3:40
we're
3:40
going
3:40
to
3:41
do.
3:41
Hiring
3:42
a
3:42
contractor
3:43
and
3:43
kind
3:43
of
3:44
getting
3:44
into
3:45
what
3:45
you
3:45
want
3:45
to
3:46
be
3:46
in
3:46
that
3:46
contract.
3:46
And
3:47
I
3:47
think
3:47
off
3:47
the
3:47
bat,
3:48
I
3:48
mean,
3:49
most
3:49
of
3:49
the
3:49
time,
3:50
if
3:50
you've
3:50
got
3:51
this
3:51
big
3:51
project
3:51
that
3:52
you
3:52
want
3:52
to
3:52
do,
3:52
you've
3:53
been
3:53
planning
3:53
for
3:54
it
3:54
for
3:54
a
3:54
while.
3:54
It
3:55
could
3:55
be
3:55
years,
3:55
could
3:55
be
3:56
months.
3:56
You've
3:56
been
3:57
saving
3:57
for
3:58
it
3:58
and
3:58
allocating
3:59
some
3:59
money
3:59
towards
4:00
that
4:00
project
4:01
for
4:01
a
4:01
long
4:01
time.
4:02
You've
4:02
been
4:03
going
4:03
through
4:03
the
4:03
plans
4:04
for
4:04
so
4:04
much
4:04
time
4:05
and
4:06
generally
4:06
speaking,
4:07
have
4:07
just
4:07
been
4:07
putting
4:08
a
4:08
lot
4:08
of
4:08
time
4:08
into
4:09
it.
4:09
So
4:09
my,
4:10
I
4:10
guess
4:10
first
4:10
question
4:11
would
4:11
be
4:11
when
4:11
you're
4:12
looking
4:12
for
4:12
a
4:12
contractor
4:13
is
4:13
why
4:13
would
4:14
you
4:14
cut
4:14
a
4:14
corner
4:15
after
4:16
doing
4:16
all
4:16
of
4:17
that
4:17
work
4:17
and
4:18
after
4:18
making
4:18
this
4:19
your
4:19
child
4:20
and
4:21
envisioning
4:21
this
4:22
for
4:22
so
4:22
long,
4:23
why
4:23
would
4:23
you
4:23
at
4:23
the
4:24
very
4:24
last
4:24
second
4:24
just
4:25
say,
4:25
you
4:25
know
4:25
what,
4:25
I
4:25
found
4:26
that
4:26
guy
4:26
on
4:26
Craigslist.
4:27
Let's
4:27
just
4:27
roll
4:28
with
4:28
it
4:28
and
4:28
see
4:28
what
4:28
happens.
4:30
There
4:30
we
4:30
go.
4:30
Yeah.
4:31
It's
4:31
so
4:31
crazy
4:32
and
4:32
it's
4:33
so
4:33
interesting
4:33
here.
4:33
I
4:34
live
4:34
in
4:34
a
4:34
state
4:34
here
4:35
in
4:35
Oregon
4:35
where
4:36
we
4:36
have
4:36
a
4:36
really
4:37
good
4:37
construction
4:38
contractors
4:39
board
4:39
that
4:40
is,
4:40
you
4:41
know,
4:41
to
4:41
some
4:42
contractors
4:42
that
4:43
absolutely
4:43
hate
4:43
this,
4:44
but
4:44
they
4:45
are
4:45
actively
4:46
going
4:46
after
4:47
unlicensed,
4:48
unbonded,
4:48
uninsured
4:49
contractors.
4:50
They
4:50
do
4:51
stings.
4:52
They
4:52
will
4:52
go
4:52
around
4:53
and
4:53
drive
4:53
around
4:54
neighborhoods.
4:54
They've
4:55
got
4:55
enforcement
4:55
officers.
4:57
And
4:57
as
4:57
a
4:57
homeowner,
4:58
you
4:58
can
4:58
literally
4:59
just
4:59
get
4:59
on
4:59
the
5:00
phone,
5:00
give
5:00
them
5:00
a
5:00
call
5:01
and
5:01
say,
5:01
hey,
5:01
I'm
5:01
looking
5:01
at
5:02
hiring
5:02
and
5:03
I'll
5:03
make
5:03
a
5:03
name
5:03
up,
5:03
ABC
5:04
Contractors.
5:06
I'll
5:06
say,
5:06
hey,
5:07
how
5:07
are
5:07
these
5:07
guys
5:08
to
5:08
work
5:08
with?
5:09
What
5:09
do
5:09
you
5:09
see?
5:10
And
5:10
they'll
5:11
go,
5:11
wow,
5:11
they're
5:11
current
5:12
with
5:12
everything.
5:13
They've
5:13
been
5:13
sued
5:14
twice,
5:14
but
5:14
they've
5:14
been
5:14
in
5:15
business
5:15
for
5:15
55
5:16
years.
5:16
So
5:16
that's
5:16
not
5:17
that
5:17
far
5:17
outside
5:17
of
5:18
the
5:18
box.
5:18
And
5:19
any
5:19
complaints
5:20
they
5:20
had
5:20
were
5:20
resolved
5:21
quickly.
5:21
And
5:21
it
5:22
seems,
5:22
seems
5:23
like
5:23
on
5:23
the
5:23
up
5:24
and
5:24
up,
5:24
and
5:24
now
5:25
you've
5:25
got
5:25
somebody
5:25
that's
5:25
at
5:26
least
5:26
helping
5:26
you.
5:26
Now,
5:27
I
5:27
know
5:28
across
5:28
the
5:28
US
5:29
it
5:29
can
5:29
be
5:29
the
5:29
Wild
5:29
West.
5:30
Some
5:30
places
5:30
don't
5:31
even
5:31
have
5:31
contractor
5:32
licensing.
5:33
And
5:33
it's
5:33
depending
5:34
on
5:34
where
5:34
you're
5:34
at,
5:34
it
5:34
can
5:35
be
5:35
a
5:35
whole
5:35
new
5:35
ballgame.
5:36
Yeah.
5:37
And
5:37
I
5:37
mean,
5:37
I
5:38
think
5:38
the
5:38
biggest
5:38
thing
5:39
that
5:39
I
5:39
would
5:39
say
5:39
in
5:39
response
5:40
to
5:40
that
5:40
is
5:40
just
5:41
use
5:41
your
5:41
resources
5:42
and
5:42
if
5:42
you've
5:43
got
5:43
the
5:43
resources,
5:44
utilize
5:44
them.
5:45
I'm
5:45
not
5:45
sure
5:46
if
5:46
we
5:46
have
5:46
something
5:47
quite
5:47
as
5:47
impressive
5:48
in
5:48
Georgia
5:48
as
5:49
you
5:49
guys
5:49
have
5:49
out
5:49
in
5:49
Oregon,
5:50
but
5:50
I
5:50
think
5:51
all
5:51
of
5:51
this
5:51
kind
5:51
of
5:52
what
5:52
we're
5:52
talking
5:52
about
5:52
applies
5:53
wherever
5:54
you
5:54
are,
5:54
which
5:54
is,
5:55
do
5:55
your
5:55
due
5:55
diligence,
5:56
rely
5:57
on
5:57
the
5:57
information
5:57
that
5:57
you've
5:58
got
5:58
and
5:59
ask
5:59
around.
5:59
I
6:00
mean,
6:00
it
6:00
does
6:00
not
6:00
hurt
6:01
to
6:01
ask
6:02
someone
6:02
you
6:02
know
6:03
who
6:03
you
6:03
know
6:03
has
6:03
done
6:03
a
6:04
project.
6:04
When
6:04
you
6:05
did
6:05
that
6:05
research
6:06
before
6:06
you
6:06
found
6:07
your
6:07
contractor,
6:07
what
6:08
did
6:08
you
6:08
find?
6:08
Did
6:09
this
6:09
name
6:09
come
6:09
up?
6:10
Was
6:10
it
6:10
flagged
6:11
for
6:11
any
6:11
reason?
6:12
And
6:12
I
6:12
think
6:13
not
6:13
only
6:14
doing
6:14
the
6:14
research,
6:15
but.
6:15
And
6:15
this
6:16
is
6:16
kind
6:16
of
6:16
getting
6:16
into
6:16
the
6:16
next
6:17
part
6:17
of
6:17
this,
6:18
of
6:18
the
6:18
process,
6:19
but
6:19
sit
6:20
down
6:20
with
6:20
the
6:20
contractor
6:21
and
6:21
have
6:21
a
6:21
conversation.
6:22
Because
6:22
when
6:22
I
6:22
get
6:23
involved,
6:23
it's
6:24
usually
6:24
once
6:25
the
6:25
relationship's
6:26
already
6:26
kind
6:27
of
6:27
past
6:27
repair,
6:28
and
6:28
the
6:28
first
6:29
thing
6:29
always
6:30
that
6:30
I'll
6:30
ask
6:31
to
6:31
see.
6:31
Not
6:31
even
6:32
the
6:32
contract
6:32
of.
6:33
Let
6:33
me
6:33
see
6:34
those
6:34
conversations.
6:34
Let
6:35
me
6:35
see
6:35
communications
6:36
that
6:36
you
6:36
had
6:36
or
6:37
explain
6:37
those
6:37
communications
6:38
you
6:38
had
6:39
before
6:39
you
6:39
even
6:40
put
6:40
pen
6:40
to
6:40
paper.
6:41
What
6:41
was.
6:42
What
6:42
was
6:42
the
6:42
vibe?
6:43
Because
6:43
there
6:43
has
6:43
to
6:44
be
6:44
a
6:44
vibe
6:44
check.
6:44
Like
6:45
with
6:45
any
6:45
other
6:45
relationship
6:46
in
6:46
life,
6:47
you
6:47
want
6:47
to
6:47
know
6:48
who
6:48
you're
6:48
signing
6:49
up
6:49
to
6:49
work
6:49
with.
6:50
And,
6:51
John,
6:51
I
6:51
know
6:51
you're
6:51
a
6:52
contractor.
6:52
We're
6:52
a
6:52
contractor.
6:53
And
6:53
you
6:54
can
6:54
appreciate
6:54
that
6:55
if
6:55
it
6:55
goes
6:55
both
6:55
ways,
6:56
too.
6:56
This
6:56
is
6:56
not
6:56
just
6:57
from
6:57
the
6:57
homeowner's
6:57
perspective.
6:58
The
6:58
contractor,
6:59
too.
6:59
If
6:59
you
6:59
show
6:59
up
6:59
and
7:00
you've
7:00
got
7:00
a
7:00
homeowner
7:01
who's,
7:01
you
7:01
know,
7:01
going
7:02
to
7:02
be
7:02
on
7:02
your
7:02
ass
7:03
no
7:03
matter
7:03
what,
7:04
maybe
7:05
you
7:05
don't
7:05
necessarily
7:06
want
7:06
that
7:06
job.
7:07
No.
7:08
And
7:08
that's
7:08
a.
7:08
That's
7:09
a
7:09
real
7:09
hard
7:09
truth.
7:09
And
7:10
we've
7:10
brought
7:10
that.
7:10
That
7:11
topic
7:11
point
7:12
up
7:13
several
7:13
times
7:13
over
7:14
the
7:14
last
7:14
couple
7:14
of
7:14
months,
7:14
like.
7:15
Cause
7:15
for
7:15
me,
7:15
that
7:16
was
7:16
always
7:16
a
7:16
big
7:17
thing.
7:17
And
7:17
it's
7:17
something
7:18
I
7:18
always
7:18
emphasize
7:19
when
7:19
we're
7:19
speaking
7:19
to
7:19
the
7:19
homeowner.
7:20
Like,
7:20
man,
7:21
get
7:21
that
7:21
vibe.
7:22
You
7:22
know,
7:23
he
7:23
might
7:23
not
7:23
be
7:23
the
7:23
cheapest,
7:24
he
7:24
might
7:24
not
7:24
be
7:25
the
7:25
most
7:25
expensive.
7:26
He
7:27
might
7:27
not
7:27
have
7:27
the
7:27
prettiest
7:28
truck.
7:28
But
7:29
like
7:30
I
7:30
always
7:30
tell
7:30
Eric,
7:30
you
7:31
know,
7:31
I
7:31
used
7:31
to
7:31
walk
7:31
in
7:31
and
7:32
sell
7:32
$300,000
7:33
remodels
7:33
with
7:33
long
7:34
musician
7:35
hair
7:35
and
7:36
tattoos
7:36
and
7:36
earrings,
7:37
ripped
7:38
jeans.
7:39
And
7:39
the
7:39
people
7:40
would
7:40
buy
7:40
from
7:40
me
7:41
versus
7:41
my
7:42
sales
7:42
guy,
7:42
who'd
7:43
go
7:43
in
7:43
with
7:43
a
7:43
tie
7:44
and
7:44
a
7:44
sport
7:45
jacket,
7:45
all
7:46
dolled
7:46
up
7:46
and
7:46
looking
7:46
pretty.
7:47
They
7:47
want
7:47
that.
7:48
They
7:48
want
7:48
that.
7:49
They're
7:49
like,
7:49
yeah,
7:50
they
7:50
know
7:50
authenticity.
7:51
They
7:52
know
7:52
when
7:52
you're
7:52
speaking
7:53
the
7:53
truth,
7:53
and
7:54
they
7:54
know
7:54
that
7:54
you're
7:55
being
7:55
genuinely
7:56
who
7:56
you
7:56
are,
7:56
and
7:56
it
7:56
makes
7:57
a
7:57
huge
7:57
difference.
7:58
And
7:58
same
7:59
goes
7:59
for
7:59
the
7:59
homeowner.
8:00
When
8:00
they're
8:00
like,
8:00
hey,
8:01
if
8:01
you
8:01
do
8:01
a
8:01
great
8:02
job
8:02
on
8:02
my
8:02
bathroom,
8:03
let's
8:04
take
8:04
a
8:04
look
8:04
at
8:04
the
8:04
kitchen
8:04
afterwards.
8:05
I'm
8:05
like,
8:05
you're
8:06
the
8:06
snake
8:06
oil
8:06
peddler
8:07
now,
8:07
brother.
8:08
Yep,
8:09
it's.
8:09
Yeah,
8:09
it's.
8:10
And,
8:10
you
8:10
know,
8:10
especially
8:10
in
8:11
these
8:11
long
8:11
remodels,
8:12
it's.
8:12
It's
8:12
somebody
8:12
you're
8:13
gonna
8:13
have
8:13
to
8:13
get
8:13
along
8:13
with
8:13
for
8:14
a
8:14
couple
8:14
of
8:14
months.
8:15
And
8:16
if
8:16
not
8:16
longer.
8:17
I
8:17
have
8:17
also
8:17
talked
8:17
about
8:18
the
8:18
relationship
8:18
between
8:19
husband
8:19
and
8:19
wife
8:20
during
8:20
these
8:20
big
8:20
remodels,
8:21
and
8:21
it
8:21
gets
8:22
sticky,
8:22
man.
8:22
No
8:22
matter
8:23
how
8:23
cool
8:23
of
8:23
a
8:23
person
8:24
you
8:24
are,
8:24
there's
8:24
going
8:25
to
8:25
be
8:25
points
8:26
so
8:26
that
8:27
friction
8:27
comes.
8:27
So
8:28
I
8:28
love
8:28
that
8:29
advice.
8:29
Thank
8:29
you,
8:29
Joseph.
8:30
I
8:30
had
8:30
to
8:31
almost
8:31
call
8:31
the
8:32
police
8:32
to
8:32
break
8:33
up
8:33
a
8:33
fight
8:34
between
8:35
a
8:35
husband
8:35
and
8:36
wife
8:36
on
8:36
a
8:36
new
8:36
home
8:37
build
8:37
because
8:38
he
8:38
had
8:38
changed
8:39
the
8:39
laundry
8:39
room
8:39
cabinets,
8:41
and
8:41
she
8:42
wasn't
8:42
aware.
8:43
And
8:44
she
8:45
goes
8:45
off
8:45
and
8:45
gives
8:46
him
8:46
a
8:46
right
8:46
hook
8:47
that
8:47
landed.
8:48
And
8:48
I'm
8:48
like,
8:48
whoa,
8:49
whoa.
8:49
And
8:50
I
8:50
was
8:50
like,
8:50
hey,
8:50
guys,
8:50
this
8:51
meeting's
8:51
done.
8:51
They're
8:51
like,
8:52
oh,
8:52
I'm
8:52
sorry.
8:52
I'm
8:52
sorry.
8:52
I'm
8:53
like.
8:53
They're
8:53
like,
8:53
no,
8:53
let's
8:54
continue.
8:54
I'm
8:54
like,
8:54
this
8:55
meeting's
8:55
done.
8:55
Because
8:56
the
8:56
next
8:56
thing
8:56
I
8:56
have
8:56
to
8:56
do
8:56
is
8:57
call
8:57
the
8:57
police.
8:58
This
8:58
is
8:58
a
8:58
different
8:58
type
8:59
of
8:59
podcast
9:00
now.
9:00
Yeah,
9:01
exactly.
9:02
And
9:02
a
9:02
different
9:03
attorney.
9:03
We
9:03
need
9:03
to
9:04
contact
9:04
a
9:04
different
9:04
attorney.
9:05
That's.
9:06
That's
9:06
not
9:06
me.
9:07
Now
9:07
we're
9:07
into
9:07
the
9:07
Johnny
9:08
Depp
9:08
stuff,
9:08
and
9:08
that's
9:08
a
9:09
whole
9:09
other
9:09
thing.
9:10
Jesus,
9:11
here
9:11
we
9:11
go.
9:11
We're
9:12
checking
9:12
every
9:12
box
9:13
right
9:13
now.
9:13
I
9:13
love
9:13
it.
9:13
Well,
9:14
what?
9:14
It's
9:14
crazy,
9:15
though,
9:15
because,
9:15
you
9:15
know,
9:16
and
9:16
I
9:16
always
9:16
said
9:16
this
9:17
as
9:17
I
9:17
taught
9:18
kitchen
9:18
and
9:18
bath
9:18
designers,
9:19
because,
9:19
you
9:19
know,
9:19
I've
9:20
got
9:20
35
9:21
plus
9:21
years
9:21
of
9:22
kitchen
9:22
and
9:22
bath
9:22
design
9:23
behind
9:23
me,
9:23
and
9:24
I'd
9:24
say,
9:24
hey,
9:24
if
9:24
you're
9:24
not
9:25
letting
9:25
go
9:25
a
9:25
couple
9:26
clients
9:26
a
9:26
year,
9:27
you're
9:27
probably
9:28
not
9:28
being
9:28
picky
9:29
enough.
9:29
Because
9:30
in
9:30
that
9:30
front
9:31
end
9:31
of
9:31
the
9:31
project,
9:32
if
9:32
it
9:32
is
9:32
not
9:33
nice,
9:34
calm,
9:35
chill.
9:36
If
9:37
it's
9:37
already
9:37
rough,
9:38
it
9:38
just
9:39
gets
9:39
worse
9:39
from
9:39
there.
9:40
Absolutely.
9:41
And
9:42
again,
9:42
just
9:43
kind
9:43
of
9:43
like
9:43
when
9:43
you're
9:44
approaching
9:44
this,
9:45
again,
9:46
you've
9:46
spent
9:47
so.
9:47
And
9:47
this
9:47
is
9:47
what
9:48
always
9:48
throws
9:48
me
9:48
off.
9:49
You've
9:49
spent
9:49
so
9:50
much
9:50
time
9:50
planning
9:51
for
9:51
this.
9:53
Why
9:54
are
9:54
you
9:54
allowing
9:54
yourself
9:55
to
9:55
even
9:56
feel
9:56
the
9:56
pressure
9:57
of
9:57
having
9:58
to
9:58
hire
9:58
this
9:59
person?
9:59
And
10:00
from
10:00
the
10:00
contractor's
10:01
perspective,
10:01
too,
10:02
you've
10:03
got
10:03
other
10:03
jobs.
10:04
Why
10:05
are
10:05
you
10:05
feeling
10:05
the
10:06
pressure
10:06
to
10:06
have
10:07
to
10:07
take
10:07
this?
10:07
And
10:08
I
10:08
know
10:08
sometimes
10:08
it
10:09
just
10:09
seems
10:09
in
10:09
the
10:10
moment
10:10
to
10:11
be
10:11
it,
10:11
and
10:11
you're
10:11
like,
10:12
wow,
10:12
I
10:12
can
10:12
see
10:12
where
10:12
this
10:12
is
10:13
going.
10:13
Maybe
10:13
it's
10:13
not
10:13
perfect
10:14
right
10:14
now,
10:14
but
10:15
it
10:15
could
10:15
get
10:16
there.
10:16
And
10:16
that's
10:16
with
10:17
any
10:17
relationship
10:17
in
10:17
life,
10:18
but
10:19
especially
10:19
when
10:19
you're
10:20
about
10:20
to
10:20
invest
10:21
so
10:21
much
10:21
Money
10:22
and
10:22
become
10:23
best
10:23
friends
10:23
with
10:23
this
10:24
contractor.
10:25
Don't
10:25
let
10:26
the
10:26
pressure
10:26
get
10:26
you
10:27
that
10:27
early.

12:39
John
12:39
Dudley
12:40
are
12:40
in
12:40
the
12:40
middle
12:40
of
12:40
a
12:41
conversation
12:41
with
12:41
Joseph
12:42
Brinkman,
12:42
and
12:43
we
12:43
are
12:43
talking
12:44
about
12:44
contractor
12:45
law.
12:46
Let's
12:46
get
12:46
back
12:47
to
12:47
it.
12:47
Don't
12:48
let
12:48
the
12:48
pressure
12:48
hit
12:48
you
12:49
that
12:49
early.
12:49
At
12:50
least
12:50
let
12:50
the
12:50
pressure
12:50
hit
12:51
you
12:51
way
12:51
later
12:51
on
12:52
when
12:52
you
12:52
have
12:52
to
12:52
make
12:53
a
12:53
quick
12:53
decision.
12:54
And
12:54
I
12:54
know
12:54
we'll
12:55
get
12:55
to
12:55
that,
12:55
but
12:55
a
12:56
quick
12:56
decision,
12:56
maybe
12:57
at
12:57
the
12:57
very
12:57
end
12:58
to
12:58
finish
12:58
everything
12:58
off,
12:59
but
12:59
before
12:59
you
13:00
even
13:00
put
13:00
pen
13:00
to
13:00
paper.
13:01
It
13:01
just
13:01
doesn't
13:01
make
13:02
sense.
13:03
Yeah.
13:03
And
13:03
when
13:04
you
13:04
later
13:04
in
13:04
that
13:04
process
13:05
where
13:05
they've
13:06
been
13:06
coming
13:06
in
13:06
and
13:07
out
13:07
of
13:07
your
13:07
house
13:07
for
13:08
45,
13:08
50
13:09
hours
13:09
a
13:09
week
13:10
and
13:11
they're
13:12
coming
13:12
over
13:12
to
13:12
play
13:12
catch
13:13
up
13:13
on
13:13
Saturday
13:13
morning,
13:14
and
13:14
all
13:14
you
13:14
want
13:14
to
13:14
do
13:14
is
13:15
just
13:15
be
13:15
sitting
13:15
there
13:15
in
13:15
your
13:15
pajamas,
13:16
drinking
13:17
coffee
13:17
and
13:17
maybe
13:18
watching
13:18
the
13:18
morning
13:18
news
13:19
or
13:19
the
13:20
morning
13:20
home
13:20
improvement
13:21
show
13:21
on
13:21
hdtv
13:22
and
13:22
you
13:22
got
13:23
people
13:23
walking
13:23
through
13:23
your
13:24
living
13:24
room.
13:24
You're
13:25
sick
13:25
and
13:25
tired
13:26
of
13:26
everyone.
13:26
At
13:27
that
13:27
point,
13:28
almost
13:28
no
13:28
matter
13:28
how
13:28
good
13:29
that
13:29
relationship
13:29
goes,
13:30
you
13:30
got
13:30
to
13:30
start
13:30
out
13:30
great.
13:31
Yeah.
13:31
And
13:31
then
13:31
all
13:31
of
13:32
a
13:32
sudden,
13:32
it's
13:32
an
13:32
Irish
13:33
coffee
13:33
and
13:34
things
13:34
are.
13:35
Things
13:35
are
13:35
getting
13:35
out
13:36
of
13:36
hand.
13:36
And
13:37
here
13:37
comes
13:37
the
13:37
right
13:38
hook.
13:38
And
13:39
here
13:39
comes
13:39
the
13:39
right
13:39
hook.
13:39
This
13:40
is.
13:40
It's
13:40
all
13:40
linear
13:41
right
13:41
now.
13:41
Well,
13:42
you
13:42
know,
13:43
I
13:43
think
13:43
the
13:43
big
13:43
thing
13:44
here,
13:44
too
13:44
is,
13:44
is
13:45
as
13:45
we
13:46
go
13:46
through
13:46
this
13:46
process,
13:48
the
13:48
contract
13:49
is
13:50
such
13:51
an
13:51
important
13:51
thing.
13:52
And
13:52
it's
13:53
so
13:53
crazy
13:53
because
13:54
I'm
13:54
also.
13:55
You
13:55
and
13:55
I
13:56
were
13:56
talking
13:56
beforehand
13:57
about
13:57
some
13:57
of
13:57
the.
13:57
Some
13:58
of
13:58
the
13:58
groups
13:58
that
13:58
I'm
13:59
either
13:59
a
13:59
moderator
13:59
or
14:00
an
14:00
expert
14:00
in
14:00
on
14:00
social
14:01
media.
14:01
And
14:02
one
14:02
of
14:02
them
14:02
is,
14:02
is
14:03
called
14:03
Ask
14:03
a
14:04
Cabinet
14:04
Maker.
14:04
And
14:05
people
14:05
are
14:05
doing
14:05
these
14:06
kitchen
14:06
models,
14:07
and
14:08
there
14:08
is
14:08
no
14:09
contract.
14:09
It's
14:10
literally
14:10
on
14:10
the
14:10
back
14:10
of
14:11
yesterday's
14:11
pizza
14:12
box.
14:13
There's
14:13
no
14:13
samples,
14:14
there's
14:14
no
14:14
drawings.
14:15
It's
14:15
a
14:15
big
14:15
round
14:16
number.
14:16
And
14:17
then
14:17
they're
14:17
wondering
14:17
why
14:17
they're
14:18
not
14:18
getting
14:18
what
14:18
they
14:19
expected
14:19
because
14:20
no
14:20
one's
14:20
bothered
14:21
to
14:21
communicate
14:21
it
14:21
correctly.
14:22
Yeah.
14:23
And
14:23
I
14:24
think
14:24
it's
14:24
important
14:24
to
14:25
make
14:25
clear,
14:26
and
14:26
I
14:26
know
14:26
John
14:26
can
14:26
attest
14:27
to
14:27
this,
14:27
there's
14:28
the
14:28
practical
14:28
side
14:29
of
14:29
everything,
14:29
and
14:30
then
14:30
there's
14:30
reality.
14:31
In
14:32
an
14:32
ideal
14:33
world,
14:33
you've
14:34
got
14:34
the
14:34
perfect
14:34
contract.
14:35
You've
14:35
thought
14:36
through
14:36
this,
14:36
you've
14:37
listened
14:37
to
14:37
this
14:37
podcast,
14:38
you've
14:38
heard
14:38
the
14:38
horror
14:39
stories.
14:39
You
14:40
know
14:41
what
14:41
is
14:41
to
14:41
come
14:42
and
14:42
why
14:42
it's
14:42
important
14:43
to
14:43
have
14:43
that
14:43
contract
14:45
95%
14:46
of
14:46
the
14:47
time.
14:47
We're
14:47
not
14:47
going
14:47
to
14:47
have
14:48
that.
14:48
And
14:48
you're
14:49
going
14:49
to
14:49
have
14:49
a
14:49
piece
14:49
of
14:50
paper
14:50
or
14:50
a
14:51
handshake,
14:51
and
14:52
it's
14:52
just
14:52
going
14:52
to
14:52
be,
14:53
I'm
14:53
hiring
14:53
you
14:53
to
14:54
do
14:54
this
14:54
because
14:54
I
14:54
trust
14:55
you,
14:55
and
14:55
I've
14:56
heard
14:56
from
14:56
multiple
14:56
people
14:56
that
14:57
you
14:57
know
14:57
what
14:57
you're
14:58
doing.
14:58
And
14:59
yeah,
14:59
maybe
15:00
this
15:00
is
15:00
a
15:00
$400,000
15:01
project,
15:02
but
15:02
we
15:03
just
15:03
got
15:03
to
15:03
make
15:03
it
15:04
work.
15:04
And
15:05
that's
15:05
practically
15:06
what's
15:06
going
15:06
on.
15:07
But
15:07
you've
15:07
got
15:08
to.
15:08
You've
15:08
got
15:08
to
15:09
take
15:09
a
15:09
step
15:09
back.
15:09
And
15:09
again,
15:10
it's
15:10
just
15:10
the
15:10
timing
15:11
of.
15:11
You've
15:12
put
15:12
so
15:12
much
15:13
time
15:13
to
15:13
begin
15:13
with.
15:14
Let's
15:14
just
15:15
take
15:15
a
15:15
little
15:15
bit
15:15
of
15:15
extra
15:16
time
15:16
to
15:16
figure
15:16
out
15:17
the
15:17
details,
15:17
because
15:17
the
15:17
contract
15:18
itself
15:19
can
15:19
make
15:19
everything
15:20
go
15:20
smoothly,
15:20
including
15:21
the
15:21
breakup.
15:22
If
15:22
it
15:22
does
15:22
get
15:23
to
15:23
that,
15:23
it's.
15:24
So
15:24
important
15:24
because
15:25
that's
15:25
always
15:25
the
15:25
first
15:25
thing
15:26
I
15:26
ask
15:26
when
15:26
things
15:26
are
15:27
going
15:27
sideways
15:27
on
15:27
that.
15:28
And
15:28
I.
15:28
And
15:28
this
15:28
is
15:28
something
15:28
I
15:29
literally
15:29
comment
15:29
once
15:30
or
15:30
twice
15:30
a
15:30
day
15:30
in
15:30
this
15:31
group.
15:31
And.
15:31
And
15:31
the
15:32
first
15:32
thing
15:32
is,
15:32
what
15:32
is
15:32
your
15:33
contract
15:33
say?
15:34
And
15:34
they're
15:34
like,
15:34
well,
15:34
it
15:34
doesn't
15:35
look
15:35
what
15:35
I
15:35
expected.
15:36
Okay,
15:36
what
15:36
is
15:37
the
15:37
sample
15:37
that
15:37
you
15:37
signed
15:38
and
15:38
approved?
15:38
Where's
15:39
the
15:39
door
15:39
sample
15:40
you
15:40
signed
15:40
and
15:40
approved?
15:41
And
15:42
that
15:42
was
15:42
a
15:43
rule
15:43
when
15:43
I
15:43
owned
15:43
my
15:43
own
15:43
kitchen
15:44
and
15:44
bath
15:44
company,
15:44
was
15:44
that
15:45
I
15:45
don't
15:45
care
15:45
if
15:45
they
15:46
want
15:46
to
15:46
write
15:46
a
15:46
check
15:46
today.
15:47
We
15:47
don't
15:47
have
15:48
a
15:48
contract
15:48
until
15:48
there
15:49
is
15:49
a
15:49
signed
15:50
sample
15:51
that
15:51
we
15:51
have
15:51
in
15:52
our
15:52
hands.
15:53
We'll
15:53
order
15:53
them
15:54
two
15:54
samples,
15:54
they
15:54
get
15:55
to
15:55
have
15:55
one.
15:55
We
15:56
have
15:56
the
15:56
control
15:56
sample
15:57
they're
15:57
going
15:57
to
15:57
approve,
15:58
and
15:59
we're
15:59
going
15:59
to
15:59
keep
15:59
that
15:59
in
16:00
the
16:00
file
16:00
with
16:00
the
16:01
contract.
16:01
And
16:01
so
16:02
we
16:02
have
16:02
all
16:02
the
16:02
hard
16:03
pieces
16:03
so
16:03
there's
16:03
no
16:04
misunderstandings.
16:05
And
16:06
you
16:06
have
16:06
to
16:07
almost
16:07
go
16:08
to
16:08
that
16:08
level,
16:09
especially
16:10
with
16:10
some
16:10
of
16:10
the
16:11
products
16:12
that
16:12
you
16:12
see
16:12
out
16:12
there.
16:13
And
16:13
I've
16:13
got
16:13
horror
16:14
stories
16:14
with
16:14
that
16:14
where
16:15
products
16:16
are
16:16
not
16:16
clear
16:16
and
16:17
it
16:17
look.
16:17
And
16:17
it's
16:18
perfectly
16:18
written
16:18
out
16:18
in
16:18
the
16:18
contract,
16:19
but
16:19
there's
16:19
still
16:19
a
16:20
misunderstanding
16:20
around
16:20
it.
16:21
Exactly.
16:22
And
16:22
you
16:23
can't
16:23
have
16:23
a
16:23
situation
16:24
where
16:25
you're
16:25
like,
16:25
oh,
16:26
well,
16:26
the
16:26
contractor
16:27
was
16:27
supposed
16:27
to
16:28
get
16:28
me
16:28
exhibit
16:29
A
16:29
to
16:30
the
16:30
contract
16:30
right
16:31
after
16:31
we
16:31
signed.
16:32
I
16:32
actually
16:32
don't
16:32
have
16:33
that.
16:33
They
16:33
never
16:33
gave
16:33
it
16:34
to
16:34
me.
16:34
I'm
16:34
like,
16:34
well
16:34
then
16:35
why
16:35
the
16:35
hell
16:35
did
16:35
you
16:35
sign
16:35
it?
16:36
And
16:36
that
16:36
said
16:36
that
16:37
you
16:37
did
16:37
have
16:37
it,
16:38
you
16:38
don't
16:38
even
16:38
know
16:39
what
16:39
it
16:39
said.
16:39
And
16:40
now
16:40
you're
16:40
just
16:40
operating
16:41
based
16:41
off
16:41
of
16:41
what
16:42
someone
16:42
else
16:42
is
16:42
saying
16:43
that
16:43
you
16:43
may
16:44
or
16:44
may
16:44
not
16:44
have
16:44
agreed
16:45
to.
16:45
So
16:46
I
16:46
agree.
16:46
It's,
16:46
it's,
16:46
I
16:47
mean
16:47
it's
16:47
almost
16:47
like
16:48
it's
16:48
kind
16:48
of
16:48
like
16:48
a
16:49
prenup.
16:49
I
16:49
mean
16:50
it
16:50
really,
16:50
it's,
16:51
it's
16:51
the
16:52
con,
16:52
it's
16:52
the
16:53
construction
16:53
prenup
16:54
of.
16:55
And
16:55
that's
16:55
why
16:55
I
16:55
think
16:55
it's
16:56
important.
16:56
It's
16:56
not
16:56
just
16:57
to
16:57
cover
16:57
your
16:57
own,
16:58
but
16:58
it's
16:58
to
16:58
cover
16:58
both
16:59
parties
16:59
butts.
17:00
And
17:01
it
17:02
should
17:03
very
17:03
clearly
17:04
explain
17:04
what
17:05
happens
17:05
if
17:05
something
17:06
goes
17:06
south.
17:07
It's
17:07
not
17:07
just
17:08
about
17:08
here's
17:08
how
17:08
we're
17:09
going
17:09
to
17:09
do
17:09
change
17:09
orders,
17:10
which
17:10
I've
17:10
got
17:10
a
17:10
lot
17:11
to
17:11
say
17:11
on
17:11
that.
17:11
But
17:12
it
17:12
needs
17:12
to
17:12
say
17:13
if
17:13
you
17:13
guys
17:13
are
17:14
going
17:14
to
17:14
go
17:14
like
17:14
this
17:14
at
17:15
a
17:15
certain
17:15
point,
17:16
post
17:16
right
17:16
hook,
17:17
then
17:18
here's
17:18
what's
17:18
going
17:18
to
17:18
happen
17:19
and
17:20
here's
17:20
what
17:21
you
17:21
can
17:21
recover
17:22
as
17:22
the
17:22
contractor,
17:23
here's
17:23
what
17:23
you
17:23
can't
17:24
touch
17:25
and
17:25
here's
17:25
what
17:25
you
17:25
can
17:26
claim
17:26
as
17:26
a
17:26
homeowner.
17:27
Here's
17:27
what
17:27
you
17:28
can't
17:28
fight.
17:28
And
17:28
it
17:29
needs
17:29
to
17:29
spell
17:29
that
17:29
out.
17:30
And
17:30
I
17:30
don't,
17:30
I
17:31
don't
17:31
think
17:31
people
17:31
really
17:32
realize
17:32
how
17:33
important
17:33
that
17:33
part
17:34
of
17:34
the
17:34
contract
17:34
is.
17:35
It's
17:35
not
17:35
just
17:35
the
17:36
typical
17:36
provisions,
17:37
but
17:37
it's
17:37
the
17:37
breakup
17:38
provisions.
17:39
Speaking
17:39
of
17:39
the
17:39
breakup,
17:40
we
17:40
covered
17:40
this
17:41
probably
17:43
now
17:43
three
17:43
or
17:43
four
17:44
years
17:44
ago.
17:45
I
17:45
don't
17:45
know
17:45
if
17:45
you
17:45
saw
17:46
this
17:46
out
17:46
in,
17:46
in
17:47
Colorado,
17:47
but
17:48
it
17:48
was
17:48
the
17:48
sledgehammer
17:49
contractor
17:50
that
17:50
made
17:50
all
17:50
the
17:51
stuff.
17:52
So
17:52
he
17:52
was
17:52
doing
17:54
a
17:54
remodel
17:55
for
17:55
a
17:55
bathroom
17:57
and
17:57
he
17:57
wanted
17:57
to
17:57
get
17:57
paid
17:58
early
17:58
outside
17:58
the
17:59
contract.
17:59
She
18:00
said
18:00
no
18:00
because
18:00
she
18:00
had
18:01
some
18:01
concerns
18:02
about
18:02
the
18:02
quality.
18:03
And
18:03
he
18:04
went
18:04
over
18:04
even
18:04
though
18:05
he
18:05
was
18:05
told
18:05
not
18:05
to
18:05
enter
18:06
the
18:06
premises
18:07
and
18:07
was
18:07
known
18:07
as
18:08
the
18:08
sledgehammer
18:08
contractor
18:09
because
18:09
as
18:10
the
18:10
neighbor
18:10
filmed
18:11
it,
18:11
he
18:11
went
18:12
into
18:12
the
18:12
bathroom
18:12
with
18:12
a
18:13
sledgehammer
18:14
and
18:14
demoed
18:15
it
18:15
as
18:15
a
18:16
quote,
18:16
repossession.
18:17
And
18:19
we
18:19
were
18:20
very
18:20
involved
18:21
in
18:21
this
18:21
because
18:21
I
18:21
saw
18:21
it
18:22
come
18:22
out
18:23
and
18:23
we
18:23
had
18:23
some
18:23
friends
18:23
of
18:24
the
18:24
show
18:24
and
18:24
another
18:25
Facebook
18:26
group
18:26
called
18:26
Global
18:26
Tile
18:27
Posse
18:27
went
18:27
out
18:28
there
18:28
and
18:29
they
18:29
gave
18:29
her
18:29
a
18:29
brand
18:30
new
18:30
bathroom
18:30
for
18:31
free.
18:32
And
18:32
it
18:33
looked,
18:33
I
18:33
mean
18:34
it
18:34
looked
18:34
like
18:34
a
18:34
blind
18:35
8
18:35
year
18:35
old
18:36
did
18:36
the
18:36
tile
18:36
work.
18:37
It
18:37
was
18:37
the
18:37
worst
18:38
tile
18:38
work
18:38
I'd
18:38
ever
18:39
seen.
18:40
And
18:40
this
18:40
guy,
18:41
when
18:41
it
18:41
Was
18:41
all
18:42
said
18:42
and
18:42
done
18:43
after
18:43
two
18:43
years,
18:44
he
18:44
did
18:44
a
18:45
little
18:45
time
18:45
for
18:45
that
18:45
felony,
18:46
and
18:47
rightfully
18:48
so.
18:49
But
18:49
it
18:49
just
18:50
shows
18:50
you,
18:50
even
18:50
if
18:50
you
18:51
have
18:51
a
18:51
contract,
18:52
if
18:52
people
18:52
don't
18:53
want
18:53
to
18:53
follow
18:54
it,
18:54
it's
18:55
something
18:55
you
18:55
can
18:55
hold
18:56
people
18:56
accountable
18:57
with,
18:57
but
18:57
it's
18:57
not
18:57
going
18:58
to
18:58
fix
18:58
the
18:58
overall
18:58
problem
18:59
of
18:59
hiring
18:59
the
18:59
wrong
18:59
person.
19:00
Absolutely.
19:02
And
19:02
unfortunately,
19:04
we've
19:04
dealt
19:04
with
19:04
a
19:04
lot
19:05
of
19:05
cases
19:05
where
19:06
there's
19:07
not
19:07
clear
19:07
enough
19:08
instruction.
19:09
It's
19:09
not
19:09
clearly
19:09
spelled
19:10
out
19:10
what
19:10
part
19:11
of
19:11
the
19:11
job
19:12
is
19:12
going
19:12
to.
19:13
That's
19:13
going
19:13
to
19:13
entail.
19:13
What
19:14
demo
19:15
plans
19:16
specifically.
19:18
Specifically,
19:18
demo
19:19
plans
19:19
of.
19:20
Why
19:20
didn't
19:20
you
19:20
look
19:21
at
19:21
these
19:21
plans
19:21
before
19:22
you
19:22
sign
19:22
the
19:22
contract?
19:23
You
19:23
can't.
19:24
You
19:24
have
19:24
to
19:25
make
19:25
sure,
19:25
you
19:25
know,
19:26
because
19:26
once
19:26
you
19:26
demo
19:27
something,
19:27
it's
19:27
gone.
19:28
Once
19:28
something's
19:29
gone,
19:29
it's
19:29
gone.
19:30
So
19:30
you've
19:31
got
19:31
to
19:31
be
19:31
on
19:32
the
19:32
same
19:32
page.
19:33
And
19:33
again,
19:33
demo
19:34
happens
19:34
first.
19:35
So
19:35
I'm
19:35
like,
19:35
again,
19:36
what
19:36
are
19:36
we.
19:36
Why
19:37
are
19:37
we
19:37
at
19:38
a
19:38
disconnect
19:38
this
19:39
early
19:39
on?
19:40
If
19:40
there's
19:40
going
19:40
to
19:41
be
19:41
a
19:41
demo,
19:41
you
19:41
better
19:42
know
19:42
what
19:42
the
19:42
demo
19:43
is
19:43
going
19:43
to
19:43
be.
19:44
And
19:44
it
19:44
can't
19:45
be
19:45
a
19:45
situation
19:45
where
19:46
maybe
19:46
I
19:46
did
19:47
authorize
19:47
it,
19:47
maybe
19:48
I
19:48
didn't,
19:48
because
19:49
that's
19:49
kind
19:49
of
19:49
the
19:49
most
19:49
important
19:50
part.
19:50
And
19:51
I
19:51
mean,
19:51
your
19:51
loan
19:52
might
19:52
be
19:52
affected
19:52
by
19:53
that.
19:53
Oh,
19:54
my
19:54
gosh.
19:54
Right?
19:55
It's
19:55
the
19:55
hugest
19:56
piece
19:56
is
19:56
the
19:57
money.
19:57
And
19:57
where
19:57
are
19:58
you
19:58
getting
19:58
this
19:58
money?
19:58
And
19:59
even
19:59
if.
19:59
Even
19:59
if
20:00
you're
20:00
kind
20:00
of.
20:01
You're
20:01
fronting
20:01
the
20:01
cash
20:02
yourself,
20:02
I
20:03
mean,
20:03
you're
20:03
not
20:03
taking
20:03
out
20:03
a
20:03
loan
20:04
for
20:04
the
20:04
project.
20:04
I
20:05
mean,
20:05
that's
20:06
a
20:06
huge
20:06
expense
20:07
if.
20:07
If
20:08
you
20:08
demo
20:08
the
20:09
wrong
20:09
part
20:10
of
20:10
the
20:10
property.
20:11
Yeah,
20:12
it's
20:12
like
20:12
the.
20:13
It's
20:13
like
20:14
the
20:14
surgeon
20:15
doing
20:15
the
20:16
wrong
20:16
surgery.
20:17
You
20:17
know,
20:17
it's
20:17
exactly
20:18
hard
20:18
to
20:18
go
20:18
back
20:18
and
20:19
fix
20:19
that.
20:19
It's
20:19
just
20:20
what
20:20
it
20:20
is.
20:20
But
20:20
this
20:21
is
20:21
probably
20:21
one
20:21
of
20:21
the
20:21
most
20:22
controversial
20:22
parts
20:23
of
20:23
construction.
20:24
What
20:24
is
20:24
your
20:25
take
20:25
on
20:25
down
20:25
payments?
20:26
Give
20:26
me
20:26
as
20:27
much
20:27
detail
20:27
as
20:27
you
20:28
can.
20:28
I
20:29
can't.
20:29
I
20:29
cannot
20:30
stand
20:31
looking
20:31
at
20:32
these
20:32
contracts
20:33
where
20:34
it
20:34
just
20:34
says
20:35
25,000
20:36
do
20:37
off
20:37
the
20:37
bat.
20:37
Well,
20:38
what
20:38
does
20:38
that
20:38
entail?
20:40
What's
20:40
that
20:40
going
20:40
to
20:41
cover?
20:41
Because
20:41
I
20:42
know
20:42
in
20:42
theory,
20:44
$25,000
20:45
is
20:45
going
20:45
to
20:45
go
20:46
towards
20:46
materials.
20:47
It's
20:47
going
20:47
to
20:47
go
20:48
towards
20:48
my
20:48
subs.

22:40
John
22:40
Dudley
22:41
are
22:41
in
22:41
the
22:41
middle
22:42
of
22:42
a
22:42
conversation
22:42
with
22:43
Joseph
22:43
Brinkman,
22:44
and
22:44
we
22:44
are
22:45
talking
22:45
about
22:45
contractor
22:46
law.
22:47
Let's
22:47
get
22:48
back
22:48
to
22:48
it.
22:49
$25,000
22:50
is
22:51
going
22:51
to
22:51
go
22:51
towards
22:51
me
22:52
materials,
22:52
it's
22:53
going
22:53
to
22:53
go
22:53
towards
22:53
my
22:54
subs,
22:54
it's
22:55
going
22:55
to
22:55
go
22:55
towards
22:55
plans
22:56
and
22:56
permitting.
22:57
There's
22:57
a
22:57
lot
22:57
of
22:58
things
22:58
that
22:58
I
22:58
can
22:58
assume
22:59
it's
22:59
going
22:59
to
22:59
go
22:59
towards,
23:00
but
23:01
you've
23:01
got
23:01
to
23:01
spell
23:02
that
23:02
out.
23:02
It
23:03
can't
23:03
just
23:03
be,
23:04
give
23:04
me
23:04
a
23:04
chunk
23:05
of
23:05
cash
23:06
and
23:06
we'll
23:06
make
23:06
progress.
23:07
Well,
23:07
what
23:07
does
23:08
that
23:08
mean?
23:08
And
23:09
that's.
23:09
I
23:09
think
23:10
that's
23:11
my
23:11
initial
23:12
take
23:13
is
23:13
I
23:13
just.
23:14
I
23:14
don't
23:14
like
23:14
it.
23:15
It
23:15
has
23:15
to
23:15
be
23:15
more
23:16
detailed.
23:17
Yeah,
23:17
it's.
23:17
It's
23:18
so
23:18
bad
23:18
because
23:18
I
23:19
get
23:19
it.
23:19
If
23:19
you're
23:19
doing
23:19
a
23:19
kitchen
23:20
model
23:20
and
23:20
it's.
23:21
Let's
23:21
say
23:21
it's
23:21
$100,000
23:22
kitchen
23:23
model,
23:24
you
23:24
could
23:24
easily
23:24
have
23:24
25
23:25
or
23:25
$30,000
23:26
of
23:26
the
23:26
cabinets
23:27
in
23:27
that.
23:28
And
23:28
I
23:28
get
23:28
that
23:28
you
23:29
probably
23:29
are
23:29
going
23:29
to
23:29
go
23:29
prepay
23:30
it.
23:30
You
23:31
know,
23:31
contractors
23:31
don't
23:32
have
23:32
the
23:32
house
23:32
accounts
23:33
that
23:33
they
23:33
had
23:33
30
23:34
years
23:34
ago
23:34
where
23:34
you
23:34
just
23:35
went
23:35
down
23:35
to
23:35
the
23:35
lumberyard.
23:36
It
23:36
was
23:36
a
23:36
handshake,
23:36
and
23:37
off
23:37
you
23:37
went
23:37
again.
23:38
It's
23:38
a
23:38
different
23:38
world.
23:39
But
23:40
at
23:40
the
23:40
same
23:41
point,
23:41
if
23:42
they're
23:42
turning
23:42
around
23:42
and
23:43
just
23:43
paying
23:43
off
23:43
the
23:43
bill
23:44
for
23:44
the
23:44
last
23:44
project
23:45
and
23:45
don't
23:45
have
23:45
the
23:45
money
23:46
to
23:47
pay
23:47
for
23:47
your
23:47
cabinets,
23:48
and
23:48
they're
23:48
hoping
23:48
for
23:49
the
23:49
next
23:49
one
23:49
to
23:49
pay
23:49
off
23:50
yours,
23:51
that's
23:51
where
23:52
that
23:52
death
23:52
spiral
23:53
of
23:53
a
23:53
contractor
23:54
happens.
23:55
Absolutely.
23:55
And
23:55
that's.
23:56
I
23:56
mean,
23:56
that's
23:57
the
23:57
biggest
23:57
unknown
23:58
when
23:59
you
23:59
do
23:59
just
23:59
hand
24:00
over
24:00
a
24:00
chunk
24:00
of
24:00
change.
24:01
Is,
24:01
is
24:02
this
24:02
covering
24:02
another
24:03
job
24:03
that
24:03
you're
24:04
already
24:04
in
24:04
a
24:04
lawsuit
24:05
over
24:06
and
24:06
that's
24:07
why
24:07
you
24:07
needed
24:07
this
24:08
cash,
24:09
or
24:09
is
24:09
this
24:10
going
24:10
towards
24:10
my
24:10
cabinets
24:11
like
24:11
you
24:11
claimed
24:12
it
24:12
was?
24:12
And
24:13
you
24:13
don't
24:13
know
24:14
until
24:15
it's
24:15
written
24:15
out
24:15
and
24:16
it's
24:16
described
24:16
and
24:17
every.
24:17
In
24:17
the
24:18
contract,
24:18
every
24:18
stage
24:19
has
24:19
to
24:19
be
24:19
detailed.
24:20
And
24:21
again,
24:21
it
24:21
just.
24:21
It
24:22
drives
24:22
me
24:22
crazy
24:23
when
24:23
I
24:23
get
24:24
involved
24:25
months
24:26
after
24:26
there's
24:26
been
24:26
an
24:27
issue,
24:27
and
24:28
I'm
24:28
like,
24:28
well,
24:28
obviously
24:29
you
24:29
guys
24:29
are
24:29
fighting
24:30
because
24:30
nobody
24:31
knows
24:31
any.
24:32
Nobody's
24:33
on
24:33
the
24:33
same
24:33
page
24:34
of
24:34
what
24:34
is
24:34
and
24:34
isn't
24:35
supposed
24:35
to
24:35
be
24:35
happening
24:36
right
24:36
now.
24:36
Like,
24:36
you.
24:36
You're
24:37
all
24:37
disagreeing
24:37
for
24:38
a
24:38
reason.
24:38
I'm
24:39
as
24:39
confused
24:39
as
24:39
all
24:39
of
24:40
you.
24:41
Yeah.
24:41
That
24:41
those
24:41
benchmarks
24:42
are
24:42
so
24:42
key.
24:43
And
24:43
I
24:44
don't
24:44
know,
24:44
John,
24:45
you
24:45
were
24:45
really
24:45
good
24:45
at
24:45
that,
24:46
you
24:46
know,
24:46
spelling
24:47
that
24:47
stuff
24:47
out
24:47
in
24:48
your
24:48
contracts
24:48
back
24:49
then.
24:50
Only
24:50
because
24:50
we
24:50
kind
24:50
of
24:51
had
24:51
to
24:51
be,
24:51
but
24:51
it
24:51
was
24:51
one
24:52
of
24:52
those
24:52
things.
24:52
That,
24:53
you
24:53
know,
24:54
homeowners
24:54
love
24:55
to
24:55
slow
24:55
pay
24:55
if
24:55
they
24:55
can
24:56
get
24:56
away
24:56
with
24:56
it.
24:56
So
24:56
you
24:56
kind
24:57
of
24:57
have
24:57
to
24:57
have
24:57
those
24:58
things
24:58
in
24:58
there
24:58
from
24:58
the
24:58
contractor,
24:59
you
25:00
know,
25:00
to
25:00
say,
25:00
okay,
25:00
cabinets
25:01
are
25:01
going
25:01
to
25:01
be
25:01
installed.
25:02
We'll
25:02
have
25:02
countertop
25:02
templates
25:03
here,
25:04
for
25:04
instance,
25:05
and
25:05
that
25:06
is
25:06
going
25:06
to
25:06
be
25:06
the
25:06
benchmark
25:07
for
25:07
the
25:07
next
25:07
payment
25:08
or
25:08
round
25:08
of
25:09
payment.
25:09
So
25:09
you
25:09
can
25:09
go
25:10
check.
25:10
Okay,
25:10
now
25:11
it's
25:11
time.
25:12
And
25:12
that
25:12
gets
25:12
to
25:12
be
25:13
even
25:14
at
25:14
that.
25:14
That
25:14
can
25:14
be
25:14
a
25:14
gray
25:15
area,
25:15
but
25:15
it's
25:15
better
25:16
than
25:16
just
25:17
two
25:17
months
25:17
in.
25:17
You're
25:18
paying
25:18
me
25:18
this.
25:19
Yeah.
25:19
Those
25:19
are
25:20
lessons
25:20
hard
25:20
learned,
25:20
I
25:21
can
25:21
tell
25:21
you
25:21
that
25:21
for
25:21
sure.
25:22
And
25:22
my
25:22
contracts
25:23
only
25:23
got
25:24
better
25:25
because
25:25
of
25:25
those
25:25
hard
25:26
learned
25:26
lessons.
25:28
And
25:28
that's
25:28
what
25:28
all
25:28
of
25:28
this
25:28
is.
25:29
That's
25:29
covering
25:30
your
25:30
cabinets
25:31
repurchase
25:31
on
25:32
my
25:32
amex
25:32
for
25:33
the
25:33
month
25:33
and
25:33
a
25:34
half
25:34
until
25:34
you
25:34
pay
25:34
me
25:35
again
25:35
or
25:35
whatever
25:36
the
25:36
case
25:36
may
25:36
be.
25:36
Those
25:37
are.
25:37
And
25:38
as
25:38
contracts,
25:39
I
25:39
mean,
25:39
we're
25:40
inherently
25:40
lazy
25:41
when
25:41
it
25:41
comes
25:41
to
25:41
contracts.
25:42
I
25:42
don't
25:42
even
25:43
want
25:43
to
25:43
look
25:43
at
25:43
an
25:43
Excel
25:44
spreadsheet.
25:45
Like,
25:45
I
25:45
pound
25:45
nails
25:46
and
25:46
I
25:46
build
25:46
cool
25:47
things
25:47
and
25:47
I
25:47
make
25:48
people
25:48
dance
25:48
in
25:48
their
25:48
kitchens
25:49
and
25:49
they're
25:49
happy
25:49
about
25:50
it.
25:50
Spelling
25:51
out
25:51
on
25:51
October
25:51
7th,
25:52
you're
25:52
going
25:52
to
25:52
give
25:52
me
25:53
this.
25:53
And
25:53
it's
25:53
going
25:53
to
25:53
go
25:54
to
25:54
a
25:54
bag
25:54
of
25:54
screws
25:55
and
25:55
a
25:55
hammer.
25:55
And
25:55
I
25:56
know
25:56
stuff
25:56
made
25:57
me
25:57
crazy.
25:58
Crazy,
25:59
absolutely
26:00
fair.
26:00
Contractors
26:01
don't
26:01
want
26:01
to
26:01
do
26:01
all
26:02
that
26:02
stuff.
26:02
You're
26:03
an
26:03
attorney.
26:03
You
26:03
live
26:04
in
26:04
that
26:04
world.
26:04
I
26:05
get
26:05
it.
26:05
My
26:06
accountant,
26:06
she
26:07
will
26:07
attest,
26:07
God
26:08
rest
26:08
your
26:08
soul.
26:09
I
26:09
used
26:09
to
26:09
walk
26:09
in
26:10
with
26:11
literally
26:11
a
26:11
giant
26:12
cardboard
26:12
box
26:13
of
26:13
all
26:13
my
26:13
receipts
26:14
and
26:14
stuff
26:15
and
26:15
invoice
26:16
whatever.
26:17
I'd
26:17
put
26:17
it
26:17
on
26:17
her
26:17
desk,
26:18
she'd
26:18
get
26:19
me
26:19
a
26:19
beer
26:19
out
26:19
of
26:19
the
26:19
fridge,
26:20
she'd
26:20
start
26:20
talking,
26:21
my
26:21
eyes
26:21
would
26:22
glaze
26:22
over
26:22
and
26:22
she'd
26:23
say,
26:23
get
26:23
out
26:23
of
26:23
here.
26:25
That's
26:26
me
26:26
and
26:26
paperwork,
26:27
man.
26:29
But
26:29
no
26:30
one
26:30
wants
26:30
to
26:30
do
26:30
it.
26:31
And
26:31
that's
26:31
the
26:31
thing.
26:32
And
26:32
I,
26:33
of
26:33
course,
26:33
live
26:33
and
26:34
breathe
26:34
it.
26:34
But
26:35
neither
26:35
the
26:35
homeowner
26:36
nor
26:36
the
26:36
contractor
26:37
want
26:37
to
26:37
do
26:37
that.
26:38
And
26:39
that's
26:39
why
26:40
it
26:40
always
26:41
ends
26:42
so
26:42
poorly.
26:43
Because
26:44
when
26:44
you
26:44
do
26:44
disagree,
26:45
well,
26:45
what's
26:45
the
26:46
first
26:46
thing
26:46
we're
26:46
going
26:46
to
26:46
look
26:47
to
26:47
is
26:48
the
26:48
paperwork.
26:49
And
26:50
when
26:50
it's
26:51
incredibly
26:51
unclear,
26:52
then
26:53
both
26:53
sides
26:53
just
26:53
take
26:54
a
26:54
hard
26:54
position
26:54
of,
26:55
you
26:55
told
26:56
me
26:56
you
26:56
wanted
26:56
me
26:57
to
26:57
do
26:57
this.
26:58
And
26:58
the
26:58
homeowner
26:59
says,
26:59
no,
26:59
I
26:59
didn't.
27:00
My
27:01
gosh,
27:01
I
27:02
never
27:02
know
27:02
who
27:02
to
27:02
believe.
27:02
And
27:03
it's
27:03
just,
27:03
it's
27:04
a
27:04
game
27:04
of
27:04
characters
27:04
and
27:05
it's
27:05
so.
27:05
It's.
27:06
It
27:06
can
27:06
be
27:06
really
27:06
fun
27:07
to
27:07
be
27:07
the
27:08
kind
27:08
of
27:08
the
27:08
mediator.
27:08
But
27:09
at
27:09
the
27:09
same
27:09
time,
27:09
I'm
27:09
like,
27:10
you
27:10
guys
27:11
are
27:11
just
27:11
lying
27:11
through
27:11
your
27:12
teeth,
27:12
both
27:12
of
27:12
you.
27:12
Yeah,
27:13
both
27:13
of
27:13
you
27:13
are
27:14
right.
27:14
No
27:15
one's
27:15
right
27:15
here.
27:16
Yeah.
27:17
So
27:17
what
27:17
is
27:17
your
27:17
take
27:18
on
27:18
the
27:18
breakup
27:19
rules?
27:19
Because
27:19
I
27:20
think
27:20
this
27:20
is
27:20
so
27:20
important,
27:21
because
27:22
you
27:22
get.
27:23
I'm
27:23
not
27:23
going
27:23
to
27:23
disparage
27:24
the
27:24
name
27:24
Karen
27:25
out
27:25
there,
27:25
but
27:25
you
27:25
get
27:25
the
27:25
homeowner
27:26
that
27:26
gets
27:26
upset,
27:27
and
27:28
they're
27:28
like,
27:28
you're
27:28
off
27:28
the
27:29
job.
27:29
You.
27:30
This
27:30
is.
27:31
There's
27:31
a
27:31
scratch
27:32
in
27:32
my
27:32
door,
27:32
and
27:33
we're,
27:33
you
27:33
know,
27:33
they're
27:33
90%
27:34
done,
27:34
and
27:35
I
27:35
don't
27:35
want
27:35
them
27:35
coming
27:36
back
27:36
here
27:36
anymore.
27:38
And
27:38
sometimes
27:38
you
27:39
have
27:39
rules
27:39
on
27:40
a
27:40
state
27:40
or
27:40
a
27:41
local
27:41
basis
27:41
that
27:42
says,
27:42
hey,
27:43
they
27:43
have
27:43
a
27:43
right
27:43
to
27:44
go
27:44
out
27:44
and
27:44
repair
27:44
it
27:45
first
27:45
and
27:45
give
27:46
it
27:46
a
27:46
try.
27:47
I
27:47
know
27:47
it
27:47
gets
27:48
really
27:48
sketchy
27:48
across
27:49
the
27:49
country,
27:49
depending
27:50
on
27:50
where
27:50
you
27:50
live,
27:50
but
27:51
what's
27:51
your
27:51
take
27:51
on
27:52
that,
27:52
I
27:53
guess.
27:53
Right.
27:54
Right.
27:54
To
27:54
repair
27:55
aside,
27:56
because
27:56
Georgia's
27:57
got
27:57
the
27:57
Right
27:57
to
27:57
Repair
27:58
act,
27:58
and
27:58
it's
27:59
very,
27:59
very
27:59
strict,
28:00
and
28:00
there's
28:01
so
28:01
many
28:01
procedural.
28:02
Just
28:03
strict
28:03
liability.
28:04
Have
28:05
to
28:05
hit
28:05
this
28:05
before
28:05
we
28:06
get
28:06
to
28:06
the
28:06
next
28:06
step.
28:07
That
28:07
aside,
28:08
I
28:08
think
28:08
just
28:09
generally
28:09
speaking,
28:10
you've
28:11
got
28:11
to
28:11
have
28:11
something
28:12
clearly
28:12
written
28:13
out
28:14
that
28:14
says
28:14
if
28:15
the
28:15
relationship
28:16
terminates,
28:17
doesn't
28:18
matter
28:18
whose
28:18
fault
28:19
it
28:19
is,
28:20
the
28:20
contractor
28:21
is
28:21
entitled
28:22
to
28:22
everything
28:23
that
28:23
they've
28:24
done
28:24
at
28:25
least
28:25
up
28:25
to
28:25
that
28:26
date.
28:26
If
28:26
the
28:27
contractor
28:27
has
28:28
already
28:28
purchased
28:28
the
28:29
materials
28:29
with
28:29
their
28:29
own
28:30
money,
28:31
if
28:31
they
28:31
have
28:31
already
28:32
done
28:32
work,
28:33
if
28:33
they've
28:33
already
28:33
done
28:34
anything
28:35
that
28:35
costs
28:36
money,
28:36
they
28:37
have
28:37
to
28:37
be
28:37
entitled
28:38
to
28:38
that
28:38
to
28:38
the
28:39
extent
28:39
the
28:39
work
28:39
was
28:39
actually
28:40
done.
28:40
Right.
28:40
And
28:41
that's
28:41
the
28:41
little
28:41
caveat,
28:42
assuming
28:42
it
28:43
was
28:43
all
28:43
done
28:43
right,
28:44
you
28:44
can't
28:44
fight
28:45
that.
28:46
But
28:46
what
28:47
I
28:47
always
28:47
have
28:47
a
28:47
problem
28:48
with
28:48
is
28:49
there's
28:50
a
28:50
lot
28:50
of
28:50
situations
28:51
where
28:51
the
28:51
contractor
28:52
knows
28:52
that
28:52
they
28:53
have
28:53
leverage
28:53
at
28:53
this
28:54
point
28:54
as
28:54
far
28:54
as
28:55
permitting.
28:56
They
28:56
know
28:56
that
28:56
they
28:56
can
28:57
go
28:57
and
28:57
pull
28:57
that
28:58
they
28:58
can
28:58
cancel
28:58
that
28:59
permit
28:59
whenever
28:59
they
29:00
want.
29:00
And
29:01
all
29:01
of
29:01
a
29:01
sudden,
29:02
there's
29:02
a
29:02
homeowner,
29:03
whether
29:04
or
29:04
not
29:04
we
29:04
call
29:04
her
29:04
Karen,
29:06
him
29:06
or
29:06
her,
29:06
any.
29:07
Whatever
29:07
we
29:07
want
29:07
to
29:07
refer
29:08
to
29:08
Jim,
29:09
Jim
29:09
is
29:10
ready
29:10
to
29:10
move
29:10
on
29:10
to
29:11
another
29:11
contractor.
29:12
Jim
29:12
should
29:12
be
29:13
able
29:13
to
29:13
do
29:13
that,
29:14
assuming
29:14
Jim
29:15
pays
29:15
what's
29:15
actually
29:16
been
29:16
done
29:16
so
29:16
far.
29:17
So
29:18
my.
29:18
My
29:18
take
29:18
on
29:19
it
29:19
and
29:19
in
29:19
the
29:19
breakup
29:20
provisions
29:20
is
29:20
that
29:21
you've
29:21
got
29:21
to
29:21
spell
29:21
that
29:22
out,
29:22
and
29:23
you
29:23
have
29:23
to
29:23
have
29:23
not
29:24
only
29:25
the
29:25
provision
29:25
that
29:26
says
29:26
contractor
29:27
gets
29:27
what
29:27
they've
29:28
done
29:28
to
29:28
date,
29:29
but
29:29
you
29:30
also
29:30
need
29:30
to
29:30
have
29:30
something
29:30
that
29:31
says
29:31
they're
29:31
not
29:31
entitled
29:32
to
29:32
anything
29:32
after
29:32
that
29:33
because
29:33
they
29:33
didn't
29:33
do
29:34
it.
29:34
And
29:34
yes,
29:34
maybe
29:35
they
29:35
expected
29:36
going
29:36
into
29:36
this
29:36
that
29:37
I'm
29:37
going
29:37
to
29:37
make
29:37
100
29:37
grand
29:38
on
29:38
this
29:38
project.
29:38
But.
29:39
Yeah,
29:40
and
29:40
that's
29:41
the
29:41
reality.
29:41
But.
29:41
But
29:42
on
29:42
top
29:42
of
29:42
that,
29:42
there
29:42
needs
29:43
to
29:43
be
29:43
something
29:43
in
29:44
there,
29:44
I
29:44
think,
29:44
and
29:45
this
29:45
is
29:45
kind
29:45
of
29:45
what
29:45
I.
29:45
I
29:46
harp
29:46
on
29:46
a
29:46
lot,
29:47
is
29:47
the
29:48
permit,
29:48
the
29:49
changing
29:49
of
29:49
the
29:49
guard
29:49
for
29:50
the
29:50
permit.
29:51
And
29:51
it's
29:52
got
29:52
to
29:52
be.
29:52
It's
29:52
got
29:53
to
29:53
be
29:53
a
29:53
very
29:53
clean
29:54
transition
29:55
of
29:55
power
29:56
as
29:56
it
29:56
comes
29:56
to
29:57
the
29:57
permit.
29:58
Because
29:58
you
29:58
can't
29:59
have
29:59
a
29:59
situation
29:59
where
30:00
Jim
30:00
wants
30:00
to
30:00
move
30:01
on
30:01
and
30:02
get
30:02
a
30:02
new
30:02
contractor
30:03
involved,
30:03
but
30:04
he
30:04
can't,
30:04
because
30:05
the
30:05
contractor's
30:06
like,
30:06
this
30:07
is
30:07
my
30:07
job.
30:07
This
30:08
is
30:08
my
30:08
permit.
30:08
I'm
30:09
just
30:09
like,
30:09
God.
30:09
Especially
30:10
if
30:10
the
30:10
back
30:10
of
30:11
his
30:11
house
30:11
is
30:11
wide
30:12
open
30:12
because
30:12
you
30:13
demoed
30:13
the.
30:13
Back
30:14
wall
30:15
when
30:15
you
30:15
weren't
30:15
supposed
30:16
to.
30:16
Jim's
30:16
like,
30:16
hey,
30:16
dude,
30:17
shower
30:17
curtain
30:18
cover
30:18
in
30:18
my
30:18
house
30:18
ain't
30:19
gonna
30:19
work.
30:20
Yeah,
30:20
exactly.
30:21
Well,
30:21
and
30:21
then
30:21
the
30:21
worst
30:22
part
30:22
is,
30:22
is
30:22
that
30:22
homeowner
30:23
is
30:23
always
30:24
going
30:24
to
30:24
pay
30:24
more
30:25
when
30:25
another
30:26
contractor
30:26
comes
30:27
in
30:27
because
30:27
they're
30:27
coming
30:27
in
30:28
with
30:28
all
30:28
the
30:28
red
30:28
flags
30:29
going,
30:30
okay,
30:30
you
30:30
just
30:30
hired
30:31
somebody
30:31
and
30:31
it
30:32
looks
30:32
like
30:32
they
30:32
did
30:33
half
30:34
decent
30:34
job
30:34
on
30:35
this.
30:36
It's
30:36
not
30:36
a,
30:36
it's
30:37
not
30:37
a
30:38
procedural
30:39
hot
30:39
mess
30:39
as
30:39
far
30:39
as,
30:40
okay,
30:40
things
30:40
look
30:40
like
30:41
they,
30:41
they're
30:41
good
30:41
to
30:41
this
30:42
point.
30:42
They're
30:43
always
30:43
going
30:43
to
30:43
look
30:44
at
30:44
it
30:44
and
30:44
go,
30:44
oh
30:44
man,
30:45
I'm
30:45
going
30:45
to
30:45
charge
30:45
20,
30:46
30,
30:46
whatever
30:47
percent
30:47
more
30:47
going,
30:48
this
30:49
is
30:49
going
30:49
to
30:49
be
30:49
a
30:49
hot
30:49
mess
30:50
on
30:50
the
30:50
best
30:50
day.
30:51
Yep.
30:52
Yeah.
30:53
So
30:53
it
30:53
never
30:53
saves
30:54
you
30:54
money.
30:54
And
30:54
I
30:54
always
30:55
try
30:55
to
30:55
go,
30:55
okay,
30:55
is
30:56
there
30:56
a
30:56
way
30:56
to
30:56
go
30:56
back
30:56
and
30:57
repair
30:57
this,
30:57
people,
30:58
before
30:59
you
30:59
start
31:00
throwing
31:00
hand
31:00
grenades
31:01
at
31:01
contractors,
31:02
trucks
31:02
out
31:02
front?
31:03
And
31:03
it's
31:04
tough
31:04
because,
31:04
and
31:05
I
31:05
was
31:05
going
31:05
to
31:05
say
31:05
this
31:05
earlier,
31:06
like,
31:07
first
31:07
of
31:07
all,
31:07
anything
31:08
that
31:08
involves
31:08
this
31:08
amount
31:09
of
31:09
money
31:09
or
31:09
that
31:10
amount
31:10
of
31:10
money
31:11
is
31:11
going
31:11
to
31:11
be
31:11
emotionally
31:12
charged.
31:12
And
31:13
secondly,
31:13
you
31:13
know,
31:14
your
31:14
house
31:14
is
31:14
such
31:14
a
31:15
private
31:15
item
31:16
that
31:17
first
31:17
of
31:17
all,
31:17
you
31:17
get
31:18
very
31:18
excited
31:18
about
31:18
the
31:19
project.
31:19
Second
31:20
of
31:20
all,
31:20
your
31:20
expectations
31:21
are
31:21
never
31:21
realistic.
31:22
Third
31:22
of
31:22
all,
31:22
you're
31:23
completely
31:23
impatient.
31:24
And
31:25
so
31:25
now
31:25
everything's
31:26
at
31:26
a
31:26
10.
31:27
Right.
31:28
So
31:28
a
31:28
hangnail
31:29
can
31:30
lead
31:30
to
31:30
a
31:30
right
31:30
hook
31:31
when
31:31
we
31:31
get
31:32
involved
31:32
in
31:32
these
31:32
situations.
31:33
Yeah.
31:34
Always
31:34
bringing
31:35
it
31:35
back
31:35
to
31:35
the
31:35
right.
31:35
Right.
31:36
I'm
31:36
always
31:36
back.
31:37
But.
31:38
But
31:38
it's
31:38
a.
31:39
It's
31:39
about
31:39
bringing
31:39
it
31:39
back
31:40
to
31:40
personalities
31:40
and,
31:41
and
31:41
having
31:41
people
31:42
that
31:42
are
31:42
level
31:43
enough.
31:43
And
31:44
as
31:44
a
31:44
contractor,
31:44
I
31:45
had
31:45
to
31:45
learn.
31:45
I
31:45
was
31:46
part
31:46
psychologist
31:47
half
31:47
the
31:47
time.
31:47
Like,
31:48
I
31:48
had
31:48
to
31:48
be
31:48
a
31:48
therapist.
31:49
It's
31:49
like
31:50
being
31:50
a
31:50
haircutter.
31:50
You're
31:51
like,
31:51
this
31:51
is
31:51
the
31:51
worst
31:52
thing
31:52
I've
31:52
ever
31:52
done
31:52
to
31:52
somebody's
31:53
hair.
31:54
So
31:54
how's
31:54
the
31:54
kids?
31:55
I
31:55
mean
31:55
like
31:55
you
31:55
legit
31:56
have
31:57
to
31:57
be
31:57
a
31:58
therapist
31:58
at
31:58
some
31:59
point
31:59
to
31:59
keep
31:59
that
32:00
temperature
32:00
down
32:00
because
32:01
everything
32:01
is
32:02
emotionally
32:02
charged.
32:03
It
32:03
was
32:03
my
32:04
favorite
32:04
color
32:05
purple.
32:05
And
32:05
that's
32:06
not
32:06
the
32:06
purple
32:06
I
32:06
wanted.
32:07
Like
32:07
to
32:07
find
32:08
out
32:08
more
32:08

34:04
John
34:04

34:05
are
34:05
wrapping
34:05
up
34:06
the
34:06
conversation
34:06
with
34:07
Joseph
34:07
Brinkman
34:08
and
34:08
we
34:08
are
34:08
talking
34:09
about
34:09
contractor
34:10
law.
34:10
Let's
34:11
get
34:11
back
34:11
to
34:11
it.
34:12
Not
34:12
every
34:12
municipality
34:13
has
34:14
perfect
34:14
public
34:15
access
34:15
to
34:15
all
34:16
those
34:16
records.
34:17
And
34:17
then
34:17
what
34:17
you'll
34:17
see
34:17
a
34:18
lot
34:18
of
34:18
the
34:18
times
34:18
from
34:18
appraisers
34:19
on
34:19
their
34:19
reports
34:20
is
34:20
they
34:20
will
34:21
have
34:21
an
34:22
appraiser.
34:23
Their
34:23
appraisal
34:23
will
34:23
be
34:23
like
34:24
two
34:24
or
34:24
three
34:24
pages
34:25
and
34:25
then
34:25
five
34:26
pages
34:26
of
34:27
here's
34:27
what
34:27
we're
34:28
not
34:28
doing
34:28
and
34:28
here's
34:29
what
34:29
you
34:29
can't,
34:29
here's
34:30
what
34:30
you
34:30
can't
34:30
come
34:31
after
34:31
me
34:31
for
34:31
is
34:32
yep,
34:33
here's
34:33
what
34:33
the,
34:33
here's
34:34
what
34:34
it's
34:34
worth.
34:34
And
34:35
then
34:35
here's
34:36
everything
34:36
that
34:36
I
34:36
didn't
34:37
do
34:37
today.
34:37
And
34:37
I'm
34:37
like,
34:37
well
34:38
then
34:38
what
34:38
did
34:38
I
34:38
pay
34:38
you
34:39
for?
34:40
If
34:40
everybody
34:41
has
34:41
gotten
34:42
good
34:42
at
34:42
at
34:42
least
34:43
one
34:43
thing,
34:43
it's
34:44
shirking
34:44
responsibility.
34:45
Yes,
34:46
they're
34:46
with
34:46
them
34:47
there
34:47
with
34:47
them.
34:47
And
34:48
especially
34:48
in
34:49
the
34:49
States,
34:49
it's
34:49
so
34:49
litigious
34:50
there.
34:51
People
34:51
know
34:52
somebody's
34:52
going
34:52
to
34:53
come
34:53
after
34:53
them
34:53
for
34:53
something
34:54
even
34:54
if
34:54
it's
34:54
not
34:55
on
34:55
them.
34:56
It's
34:56
unfortunate,
34:57
but
34:58
you
34:58
know,
34:58
the
34:58
people
34:58
I
34:58
think
34:58
about
34:59
and
34:59
I've
34:59
stupidly
35:00
bought
35:00
several
35:01
homes
35:01
and
35:01
not
35:01
looked
35:02
into
35:02
those
35:02
things,
35:03
you
35:03
know,
35:04
again,
35:05
emotionally
35:05
charged.
35:06
I
35:06
don't
35:06
care,
35:06
I'll
35:07
fix
35:07
it
35:07
later.
35:08
I
35:08
just
35:08
love
35:08
this
35:09
place.
35:09
I
35:09
got
35:09
to
35:09
have
35:10
it.
35:10
But
35:10
you
35:11
think
35:11
about
35:11
a
35:11
20
35:11
year
35:12
old
35:12
couple
35:12
or
35:12
24
35:13
year
35:13
old
35:13
couple
35:13
with
35:13
a
35:14
baby
35:14
and
35:14
they
35:14
don't
35:14
know
35:15
what
35:15
the
35:15
hell
35:15
they're
35:15
doing.
35:16
Somebody
35:17
to
35:17
tell
35:17
them
35:17
these
35:18
things.
35:18
Right.
35:19
Whether
35:19
the
35:19
it's
35:20
the
35:20
appraiser
35:21
or
35:21
an
35:22
honest
35:22
real
35:22
estate
35:22
agent
35:23
that
35:23
says,
35:23
hey,
35:24
this
35:25
looks
35:25
like
35:25
this
35:25
might
35:25
be
35:26
an
35:26
addition.
35:26
We
35:26
should
35:27
check
35:27
with
35:27
the,
35:28
you
35:28
know,
35:28
check
35:28
the
35:29
record,
35:29
see
35:29
if
35:30
nobody's
35:30
out
35:30
there
35:31
doing
35:31
that
35:31
because
35:31
the
35:32
real
35:32
estate
35:32
agent
35:32
is
35:33
mostly
35:33
charged.
35:33
They're
35:34
looking
35:34
to
35:34
make
35:34
a
35:34
buck.
35:34
They
35:34
want
35:35
to
35:35
get
35:35
the
35:35
sale.
35:35
They
35:35
got
35:36
a
35:36
birthday
35:36
for
35:37
their
35:37
baby.
35:38
It's
35:38
Just,
35:38
it's
35:39
an
35:39
accountability.
35:40
Yeah,
35:40
that's.
35:42
Where
35:42
do
35:42
you
35:42
look
35:42
now?
35:43
And
35:44
everybody's
35:44
so
35:44
well
35:45
protected
35:45
with
35:46
the
35:46
five
35:46
pages
35:47
you're
35:47
talking
35:47
about,
35:47
Joseph.
35:49
Disappointing
35:49
but.
35:49
Well,
35:51
Johnny
35:51
too
35:51
is.
35:52
Think
35:52
about
35:52
it
35:52
from
35:52
a
35:52
bank
35:53
perspective,
35:53
right.
35:54
So
35:54
let's
35:54
say
35:54
you're
35:54
a
35:55
major
35:55
mortgage
35:56
company
35:56
and
35:56
you
35:57
just
35:57
lended
35:58
money
35:58
out
35:59
for
35:59
a
35:59
2700
36:00
square
36:01
foot
36:01
house
36:02
that
36:02
was
36:02
calculated
36:03
out
36:03
at,
36:03
I'm
36:04
going
36:04
to
36:04
use
36:04
a
36:04
round
36:04
number,
36:05
500
36:05
a
36:06
square.
36:06
Foot
36:07
and
36:07
only
36:07
a
36:07
thousand
36:08
of
36:08
it's
36:08
legal.
36:08
Yeah.
36:09
So
36:09
okay,
36:09
there's
36:09
$750,000
36:11
of
36:11
value
36:12
I
36:12
lent
36:12
out
36:12
there
36:13
quite
36:13
frankly
36:14
doesn't
36:14
exist.
36:16
Well,
36:16
you'll
36:16
never
36:16
get
36:17
my
36:17
pity
36:17
for
36:17
the
36:17
banks.
36:18
But.
36:18
No,
36:19
I
36:19
know.
36:20
Hypothetically
36:21
though,
36:21
but
36:22
you
36:22
see
36:22
where
36:23
I'm
36:23
going
36:23
with
36:23
that
36:23
Joseph.
36:23
That
36:24
gets
36:24
to
36:24
be
36:24
pretty
36:24
ugly
36:25
pretty
36:25
quick
36:25
on
36:25
paper
36:27
and
36:27
then
36:27
you
36:27
get.
36:28
Into
36:28
kind
36:29
of
36:29
the
36:29
cost
36:29
breakdown
36:30
of
36:30
well
36:30
what
36:30
does
36:30
it
36:30
cost
36:31
to
36:31
fight
36:31
this
36:32
and
36:32
what
36:32
are
36:33
we,
36:33
how
36:33
much
36:33
money
36:34
are
36:34
we
36:34
really
36:34
fighting
36:35
about?
36:36
And
36:36
that's
36:36
always
36:36
such
36:37
a
36:37
difficult
36:37
conversation
36:38
on
36:38
our
36:38
end
36:39
is
36:40
trying
36:40
to
36:40
convince
36:41
someone
36:42
that
36:42
$30,000
36:44
quote
36:44
isn't
36:45
worth
36:45
it.
36:46
Isn't
36:46
worth
36:47
it.
36:47
Yeah,
36:48
they
36:48
and
36:49
I
36:49
would
36:49
agree.
36:50
You
36:50
look
36:50
at,
36:51
I
36:51
get,
36:51
I
36:51
hear
36:51
it
36:52
either
36:52
on
36:52
the
36:52
phone
36:52
or
36:52
face
36:53
to
36:53
face.
36:53
Someone's
36:53
looking
36:53
at
36:54
me
36:54
like
36:54
are
36:54
you
36:54
really
36:55
telling
36:55
me
36:55
right
36:55
now,
36:56
you
36:56
who
36:57
has
36:57
no
36:57
skin
36:57
in
36:57
the
36:57
game,
36:58
Joseph,
36:58
that
36:59
$30,000
37:00
isn't
37:01
worth
37:01
it?
37:01
And
37:02
I'll
37:02
just
37:02
go
37:03
yes,
37:04
that's,
37:05
I'm
37:05
that
37:05
guy,
37:05
dude.
37:05
I'm
37:06
like
37:06
that
37:07
was
37:07
a
37:07
hundred
37:07
thousand
37:07
dollar
37:08
mistake
37:08
and
37:08
I'm
37:08
not
37:09
going
37:09
to
37:09
chase
37:09
it
37:09
down
37:10
through
37:10
three
37:11
years
37:11
of
37:11
nonsensical
37:12
attorney
37:12
craz
37:14
paperwork
37:14
and
37:14
phone
37:14
calls.
37:15
And
37:15
what's
37:15
it
37:15
going
37:15
to
37:15
cost
37:15
me
37:16
in
37:16
time
37:16
and
37:16
my
37:17
life
37:17
experience?
37:18
Like
37:18
Exactly.
37:19
It's
37:19
emotional.
37:20
I
37:20
don't
37:20
speak
37:20
about
37:21
the
37:21
baggage,
37:21
the
37:22
emotional
37:22
baggage
37:23
from
37:23
the
37:23
project.
37:23
Well
37:24
now
37:24
you've
37:25
got
37:25
another
37:25
piece
37:26
to
37:26
it.
37:26
Now
37:26
you've
37:27
got
37:27
a
37:27
lawsuit
37:28
and
37:28
then
37:28
you're
37:28
paying
37:28
me
37:29
instead
37:29
of
37:29
spending
37:30
that
37:30
money
37:30
to
37:30
finish
37:31
and
37:31
fix
37:31
the
37:31
issue.
37:32
And
37:33
that's
37:33
why
37:34
a
37:34
lot
37:34
of
37:34
the
37:35
times
37:35
my,
37:36
my
37:36
kind
37:37
of
37:37
theory
37:37
is
37:38
let's,
37:38
let's
37:39
finish
37:39
the
37:39
project
37:40
then
37:41
maybe
37:41
reevaluate
37:42
whether
37:42
we
37:43
want
37:43
to
37:43
sue
37:44
and
37:45
reevaluate
37:45
if
37:46
that
37:46
really
37:46
makes
37:46
sense.
37:47
Because
37:47
most
37:48
if
37:48
not
37:49
all
37:49
the
37:49
time
37:50
after
37:50
you
37:51
spend
37:51
$30,000
37:52
to
37:52
fix
37:53
everything
37:53
and
37:54
you're
37:54
done
37:54
and
37:54
you're
37:55
moved
37:55
in
37:55
and
37:55
you're
37:56
happy,
37:57
why
37:57
would
37:57
you
37:58
then
37:58
spend
37:58
another
37:59
30
38:00
to
38:00
make
38:01
part
38:02
of
38:02
30.
38:02
Exactly.
38:03
So
38:04
my
38:04
thought
38:04
is
38:04
always
38:05
let's
38:05
just
38:05
get
38:05
to
38:05
the
38:06
finish
38:06
line
38:07
and
38:07
then
38:07
you're
38:07
gonna
38:08
think
38:08
differently.
38:09
You
38:09
just
38:09
are.
38:10
Well,
38:10
great
38:11
example.
38:11
I've
38:11
been
38:11
through
38:11
a
38:11
couple
38:12
divorces
38:13
and
38:13
I've
38:13
had
38:13
some
38:14
friends
38:14
that
38:14
are
38:14
going
38:14
through
38:15
something
38:15
now.
38:15
And
38:15
I
38:15
go,
38:15
hey,
38:16
man,
38:16
I
38:16
know
38:16
you
38:16
want
38:17
your
38:17
$1200
38:18
television
38:18
back,
38:19
but
38:19
your
38:19
attorney
38:20
is
38:20
$350
38:21
an
38:22
hour.
38:22
Are
38:23
you
38:23
gonna
38:23
spend
38:24
$6000
38:25
fighting
38:25
for
38:25
a
38:26
$1200
38:26
TV?
38:27
Why
38:27
don't
38:27
you
38:28
go
38:28
buy
38:28
a
38:28
really
38:28
cool
38:29
8K
38:29
one
38:30
after
38:30
this
38:31
is
38:31
all
38:31
said
38:31
and
38:31
done
38:32
and
38:33
enjoy
38:33
it
38:34
instead
38:34
of
38:34
getting
38:35
one
38:35
that
38:35
maybe
38:35
has
38:35
a
38:36
hole
38:36
in
38:36
it
38:36
by
38:36
the
38:36
time
38:36
you
38:36
get
38:37
it?
38:37
Yeah,
38:38
exactly.
38:39
I
38:39
took
38:39
my
38:39
tools
38:40
and
38:40
my
38:40
guitars
38:40
and
38:41
I
38:41
said,
38:41
keep
38:41
the
38:41
rest.
38:42
I
38:42
don't
38:42
care.
38:43
You
38:44
gotta
38:44
let
38:44
go.
38:44
Fight
38:44
from
38:45
this
38:45
dog.
38:45
Yep.
38:46
You
38:46
gotta
38:46
let
38:47
go.
38:48
Absolutely.
38:49
Absolutely.
38:50
Well,
38:50
Joseph,
38:50
we're
38:51
running
38:51
out
38:51
of
38:51
time.
38:51
We're
38:51
going
38:52
through
38:52
this
38:52
hour
38:52
quick.
38:53
I
38:53
wanted
38:54
to
38:54
just
38:54
kind
38:54
of
38:54
wrap
38:54
this
38:55
up
38:55
in
38:55
a.
38:55
In
38:55
a
38:55
nice
38:56
little
38:56
bow
38:56
and
38:57
just
38:57
some
38:57
quick
38:58
tips
38:58
for
38:58
people
38:58
out
38:59
there
38:59
that
38:59
are
38:59
getting
39:00
ready
39:00
to
39:00
hire
39:00
that
39:00
contractor
39:01
and
39:01
maybe
39:01
going
39:02
down
39:02
that,
39:02
that
39:03
road.
39:03
Just
39:03
kind
39:03
of
39:04
a
39:04
rapid
39:04
fire.
39:05
What's
39:05
your
39:05
quick
39:06
suggestions
39:06
on
39:06
it?
39:06
Because
39:07
I
39:07
know
39:07
we
39:07
could
39:07
do
39:08
another
39:08
hour
39:08
just
39:08
on
39:09
that
39:09
again.
39:10
Yeah,
39:10
what
39:10
we've
39:11
talked
39:11
about,
39:11
it's
39:11
a
39:11
vibe
39:11
check
39:12
first
39:12
and
39:12
foremost,
39:13
I
39:14
think.
39:14
And,
39:14
and
39:15
I
39:15
don't
39:15
mean
39:16
to
39:16
sound
39:17
too
39:17
critical
39:18
of
39:19
any
39:19
contractor.
39:20
And
39:20
John,
39:20
this
39:20
is
39:20
not
39:20
aimed
39:21
at
39:21
you
39:21
or
39:21
anybody,
39:21
but
39:22
you
39:22
don't.
39:23
As
39:23
the
39:23
homeowner,
39:24
you
39:24
don't
39:24
owe
39:25
the
39:25
contractor
39:26
anything.
39:27
This
39:28
is
39:28
your
39:28
project.
39:29
You
39:30
have
39:30
saved
39:30
for
39:30
it.
39:31
You
39:31
have
39:31
planned
39:32
it
39:32
out
39:32
for
39:32
years,
39:33
for
39:33
months,
39:33
whatever
39:33
it
39:34
is.
39:35
This
39:35
is
39:35
the
39:36
vessel
39:36
that
39:37
you
39:37
need
39:38
to
39:38
finish
39:39
the
39:39
project
39:40
to
39:40
make
39:40
it
39:40
into
39:41
reality.
39:42
Before
39:42
that,
39:43
before
39:43
you
39:43
started
39:44
looking
39:44
for
39:44
this
39:44
contractor,
39:46
you
39:46
would
39:46
know
39:47
anyone,
39:47
anything.
39:48
This
39:48
is
39:48
your
39:48
thing.
39:49
So
39:49
I
39:50
think
39:50
that's
39:50
an
39:51
important
39:51
mindset
39:52
to
39:52
have.
39:52
Now,
39:52
don't
39:52
be
39:52
arrogant.
39:53
Don't
39:53
walk
39:54
into
39:54
a
39:54
meeting
39:55
with
39:55
a
39:55
contractor
39:56
and
39:56
kind
39:56
of
39:57
just
39:57
slam
39:57
your
39:57
fist
39:58
on
39:58
the
39:58
table
39:58
and
39:58
be
39:59
like,
39:59
you're
39:59
going
39:59
to
40:00
do
40:00
this
40:00
for
40:00
50,000
40:01
less
40:01
than
40:01
you're
40:01
probably
40:02
entitled.
40:02
Serve
40:03
me.
40:04
You
40:04
serve
40:05
me.
40:05
No,
40:06
not.
40:06
That
40:07
being
40:07
said,
40:07
the
40:07
contractor
40:08
is
40:08
a
40:09
service
40:09
provider,
40:10
which
40:10
really
40:11
makes
40:11
them
40:11
a
40:11
tool
40:11
that
40:12
you're
40:12
paying
40:12
for.
40:13
Don't
40:13
forget.
40:15
You're
40:15
making
40:15
a
40:15
great
40:15
point,
40:16
but
40:16
I
40:16
would
40:16
wholeheartedly
40:17
agree
40:17
as
40:18
a.
40:19
So
40:19
I
40:19
think
40:20
from
40:20
the
40:20
homeowner's
40:20
perspective,
40:21
you
40:22
have
40:22
to
40:22
approach
40:22
it
40:23
with
40:23
that
40:23
mindset
40:24
of,
40:25
I
40:25
do
40:26
need
40:26
a
40:26
contractor,
40:28
but
40:28
I
40:28
don't
40:29
necessarily
40:30
owe
40:30
this
40:31
contractor
40:31
at
40:32
this
40:32
moment
40:33
anything.
40:34
So
40:34
I
40:35
think
40:35
it's
40:35
the
40:35
vibe
40:35
check,
40:36
it's
40:36
that
40:36
it's
40:37
do
40:37
your
40:37
Due
40:37
diligence.
40:38
And
40:39
then
40:39
I
40:39
think
40:39
really
40:40
the
40:40
biggest
40:40
kind
40:41
of
40:41
pill
40:41
to
40:41
swallow
40:42
off
40:42
the
40:42
bat
40:43
is
40:43
you
40:43
have
40:44
to
40:44
know
40:45
that
40:45
this
40:45
is
40:45
going
40:45
to
40:46
cost
40:46
more
40:46
than
40:47
you
40:47
think
40:47
it's
40:47
going
40:47
to
40:47
cost,
40:48
and
40:49
it's
40:49
going
40:49
to
40:49
take
40:50
more
40:50
time
40:51
than
40:51
you
40:51
think
40:51
it's
40:51
going
40:52
to
40:52
take.
40:52
And
40:52
whether
40:53
that's
40:53
an
40:53
extra
40:53
week,
40:54
and
40:55
I'm
40:55
not
40:55
trying
40:55
to
40:55
say
40:55
that
40:55
it's
40:56
automatically
40:56
going
40:56
to
40:56
be
40:57
an
40:57
extra
40:57
six
40:57
months,
40:57
but
40:58
it
40:58
could
40:58
be
40:58
an
40:58
extra
40:59
week,
40:59
it
40:59
could
40:59
be
41:00
an
41:00
extra
41:00
five
41:00
grand.
41:01
Obviously,
41:02
the
41:02
other
41:02
end
41:02
of
41:03
that
41:03
spectrum
41:03
is
41:03
another
41:04
two
41:04
years
41:05
and
41:05
100
41:06
grand.
41:06
But
41:07
you
41:08
have
41:08
to
41:08
know
41:08
going
41:09
in
41:09
that
41:09
it's
41:10
not.
41:10
This
41:10
isn't
41:10
going
41:10
to
41:11
be
41:11
exactly
41:11
what
41:11
you
41:11
think
41:12
it's
41:12
going
41:12
to
41:12
be.
41:13
And
41:13
I
41:13
think
41:13
the
41:13
last
41:14
part,
41:15
it's
41:15
not
41:15
Legos,
41:15
as
41:16
much
41:16
as
41:16
we
41:16
might
41:16
want
41:16
it
41:16
to
41:16
be.
41:17
And.
41:17
And
41:18
don't
41:18
get
41:19
bullied,
41:19
don't
41:19
get
41:20
pushed
41:20
around.
41:21
And
41:21
you
41:21
need
41:22
to
41:22
find
41:22
the
41:22
right
41:22
fit
41:23
that
41:23
you
41:23
guys
41:23
can
41:24
kind
41:24
of
41:24
work
41:24
together
41:25
and
41:25
know
41:25
how
41:26
to
41:26
disagree.
41:27
But
41:27
it
41:28
really
41:28
is
41:28
frustrating
41:29
when
41:29
I
41:29
see
41:30
people
41:30
getting
41:31
pushed
41:32
around
41:32
and
41:32
being
41:32
told,
41:33
no,
41:33
no,
41:33
no,
41:33
just
41:34
trust
41:34
me,
41:34
I
41:34
know
41:34
what
41:34
I'm
41:35
doing.
41:35
Just
41:35
shut
41:35
up.
41:36
I'll
41:36
make
41:36
the
41:37
change.
41:37
It'll
41:37
be
41:37
fine.
41:37
Like,
41:38
no,
41:38
you
41:38
don't
41:38
have
41:38
to
41:39
agree
41:39
to
41:39
that.
41:39
And
41:40
I
41:40
think
41:40
there's
41:40
a
41:41
position
41:41
of
41:41
power,
41:41
and
41:42
we
41:42
all,
41:42
with
41:43
anything
41:43
in
41:43
life,
41:43
we
41:44
kind
41:44
of
41:44
tend
41:44
to
41:44
rely
41:45
on
41:45
experts.
41:46
But
41:47
a
41:47
lot
41:47
of
41:47
the
41:47
times
41:47
you
41:48
have
41:48
to
41:48
be
41:48
able
41:48
to
41:48
take
41:48
a
41:49
step
41:49
back
41:49
and
41:50
kind
41:50
of
41:50
trust
41:51
your
41:51
spidey
41:51
sense
41:52
and
41:52
just
41:52
know
41:52
that
41:52
if
41:53
this
41:53
doesn't
41:53
smell
41:54
right,
41:54
it
41:55
probably
41:55
isn't.
41:55
You
41:56
don't
41:56
need
41:56
an
41:56
attorney
41:57
at
41:57
$350
41:58
an
41:58
hour
41:58
to
41:58
tell
41:59
you
41:59
that.
41:59
Amen.
42:00
And
42:00
my
42:00
other
42:00
rule
42:01
is
42:01
not
42:01
written
42:02
done.
42:02
It
42:03
doesn't
42:03
exist.
42:04
Yeah,
42:04
that
42:04
was
42:04
frustrating
42:05
as
42:05
a
42:05
contractor
42:06
myself,
42:06
right.
42:07
Hearing
42:07
those
42:07
stories
42:08
like,
42:08
oh,
42:09
man,
42:10
super
42:10
frustrating.
42:11
Yeah,
42:11
don't
42:12
frustrate.
42:12
It
42:13
goes
42:13
both
42:13
ways.
42:14
Yeah.
42:14
Yeah.
42:15
So,
42:15
Joseph,
42:15
before
42:16
we
42:16
head
42:16
out,
42:16
what's
42:16
the
42:17
best
42:17
way
42:17
of
42:17
people,
42:17
like,
42:18
I'm
42:18
in
42:18
my
42:18
own
42:19
nightmare
42:19
right
42:19
now
42:20
and
42:21
they
42:21
need
42:21
help.
42:21
How
42:22
do
42:22
they
42:22
find
42:22
you?
42:23
You
42:24
can
42:24
hear
42:24
their
42:25
horror
42:25
story.
42:25
Maybe
42:25
we
42:26
can
42:26
talk
42:26
about
42:26
it
42:26
next
42:26
time.
42:27
I.
42:28
Now
42:29
that
42:29
we're
42:29
talking,
42:29
I'm
42:29
like,
42:29
I
42:30
would
42:30
love
42:30
to
42:30
just
42:31
do
42:31
some
42:31
of
42:32
this
42:32
in
42:32
Oregon.
42:32
It
42:32
sounds
42:33
pretty
42:33
awesome.
42:33
But
42:33
I
42:33
would
42:34
just.
42:34
I
42:35
would
42:35
just
42:35
say
42:35
you
42:36
just
42:36
be
42:37
on
42:37
the
42:37
lookout
42:37
for
42:38
an
42:38
attorney
42:38
who's
42:38
also
42:39
going
42:39
to
42:39
approach
42:40
it
42:40
this
42:40
way.
42:41
Because
42:41
the
42:41
last
42:42
thing
42:42
you
42:42
need
42:42
once
42:43
you're
42:43
in
42:43
a
42:43
bunch
42:43
of
42:44
is
42:45
to
42:45
get
42:45
even
42:46
deeper
42:46
into
42:46
that
42:47
by
42:47
just
42:48
funneling
42:49
in
42:49
legal
42:49
fees.
42:50
Someone
42:50
needs
42:51
to
42:51
be
42:51
on
42:51
the
42:51
same
42:51
page
42:52
as
42:52
you
42:52
and
42:52
understand
42:53
that
42:53
this
42:53
is
42:53
your
42:53
child,
42:54
this
42:54
project
42:55
is
42:55
your
42:55
child.
42:56
And
42:56
we're
42:56
trying
42:57
to
42:57
get
42:57
you
42:58
through
42:58
the
42:58
project.
42:59
We're
42:59
not
42:59
trying
43:00
to
43:00
get
43:00
you
43:00
through
43:00
a
43:00
fight
43:01
with
43:02
the
43:02
contractor,
43:03
because
43:03
that
43:04
shouldn't
43:04
matter
43:05
as
43:05
much
43:05
as
43:05
the
43:05
project.
43:06
And
43:06
again,
43:06
if
43:07
we
43:07
just
43:07
take
43:07
that
43:07
step
43:08
back
43:08
to
43:08
the
43:08
very
43:08
beginning
43:09
of
43:09
what's
43:09
the
43:10
whole
43:10
point
43:10
of
43:10
this?
43:11
It's
43:11
to
43:11
finish
43:12
the
43:12
job
43:13
and
43:13
get
43:14
through
43:14
what
43:15
you
43:15
wanted
43:15
to
43:15
get
43:15
through
43:16
so
43:16
that
43:16
you
43:16
have
43:16
the
43:16
finished
43:17
product.
43:17
So
43:18
I'd
43:18
say
43:18
anyone
43:18
who's
43:19
in
43:19
the
43:19
middle
43:19
of
43:19
this
43:20
needs
43:20
to.
43:20
Needs
43:21
to
43:21
remember
43:21
that.
43:22
And
43:22
also,
43:22
I
43:22
don't
43:22
know
43:23
what
43:23
that
43:23
was.
43:23
Needs
43:23
to.
43:24
It
43:24
needs
43:25
to.
43:25
Colombia,
43:26
man.
43:26
Columbia.
43:27
We
43:27
like
43:27
fireworks
43:28
in
43:28
the
43:28
middle
43:28
of
43:28
the
43:28
day.
43:29
Come
43:29
on.
43:29
Viva
43:30
Columbia.
43:31
And
43:31
have
43:31
a
43:32
little
43:32
bit
43:32
of
43:32
that
43:32
type
43:33
of
43:33
attitude
43:33
about
43:33
it.
43:34
Absolutely.
43:35
Absolutely.
43:36
Joseph
43:37
Brinkman,
43:37
thanks
43:38
for
43:38
coming
43:38
on
43:38
today,
43:39
man.
43:39
I
43:39
just
43:40
really
43:40
appreciate
43:41
what
43:41
you're
43:41
doing
43:41
out
43:42
there
43:42
for
43:42
homeowners,
43:43
because
43:43
I
43:44
tell
43:44
you
43:44
what,
43:44
this
43:44
is
43:45
such.
43:46
And
43:47
it's
43:47
just
43:47
such
43:47
a
43:48
big,
43:48
important
43:48
part
43:49
of
43:49
any
43:49
remodel
43:50
project
43:50
when
43:50
you're
43:51
bringing
43:51
someone
43:51
in
43:51
to
43:52
do
43:52
it.
43:53
And
43:54
that's
43:54
super
43:54
important.
43:55
And
43:55
I
43:55
think
43:55
it's
43:56
just
43:56
one
43:56
of
43:56
those
43:56
things
43:56
that
43:57
this
43:58
is
43:58
the
43:58
roadmap
43:59
for
43:59
your.
43:59
Your
43:59
project,
44:00
and
44:00
it's.
44:00
You
44:01
got
44:01
to
44:01
pay
44:01
attention
44:01
to
44:01
it,
44:02
brother.
44:02
Absolutely.
44:03
Well,
44:03
I.
44:03
I
44:04
appreciate
44:04
you
44:04
guys.
44:05
It's
44:05
been
44:05
a
44:05
pleasure
44:06
and.
44:06
And
44:07
good
44:07
luck
44:07
to
44:07
all
44:08
the
44:08
homeowners
44:08
out
44:08
there
44:09
and
44:09
diving
44:10
into
44:10
their
44:10
new
44:10
projects.
44:12
All
44:12
right,
44:12
brother.
44:13
Talking
44:13
with
44:13
you,
44:13
Joseph.
44:14
Thanks
44:14
for
44:14
coming.
44:15
Great
44:15
for
44:16
Johnny.
44:16
I'm
44:16
Eric
44:17
G.
44:17
You've
44:18
been
44:18
listening
44:18
to
44:19
around
44:19
the
44:19
House.
44:23
I
44:23
had
44:23
to
44:23
leave.
44:23
Not
44:24
yet.
44:26
Go
44:28
all
44:28
over
44:28
the
44:29
radio
44:30
with
44:30
you.
