- 0:00SPEAKER_01: All right, Alley, I need you and then everyone else.
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: You know, the three of you that are hanging with us.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: It's um it's a little slow.
- 0:06SPEAKER_01: I need you to go to the Scott and Alley Facebook page right now and look at the video that I just put up.
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: From now on, every parade around here absolutely must have this.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Parades are kind of dull.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, parades stopped being cool around 1947 after World War II.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: Now we just go and we're like All right, let's see.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: It's got a lawn chair demonstration.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a lawn chairs as they're using as a marching band, and they're using so it sounds like this.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: They're using them as percussion.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: So it looks kind of like it kind of looks like a marching band.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: I know, you just made a parade exciting.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: But next year you have to come to the Easter Aura July 3rd parade.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: Oh, we we were talking about that.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: Uh Tiffany wants to go up there.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: She hears, she goes, Oh, there's I hear there's nice doors up there and everything.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's a nice area for sure.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: And an open container law.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: That doesn't suck to have a beer in your hand while you're watching a parade.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Now tell me, I'm not wrong.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: And when the marching band comes by, that's not really a marching band, but they're playing the folding chairs.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: Go look at this video.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: It's brilliant.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Whoever came up with that.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: And obviously, they've got to be members of the marching band because their timing is perfect if you watched a video like they're doing this.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: They didn't just go out there and just slap some chairs.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: No, they practiced.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: This is hardcore practice.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: So hard.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: I applaud.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: I think we all have had a summer job, whether it was you're a lifeguard, or if you're like me, you worked at JCPenney's or you worked at your local convenience store.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Listen to this message we got.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: I'm 16 and working my very first job this summer.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And since school ended, I've worked just about every day as many hours as I'm allowed to.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: My parents took my first paycheck from me and are refusing to allow me to spend it.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: They opened a savings account and put the money in there and told me I can't touch it and I can't do anything until I'm 18.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: We got in a huge fight about it, and they said that money is mine, not theirs.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: I think I should be allowed to spend it.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: Wait, my money's mine as in the parents?
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: Okay, that part I don't agree with.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: So far, I'm following you.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: I I think I should be allowed to spend it because I earned it.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: What do you guys think?
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Uh all right.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: So I can tell you that uh I I everybody does this differently.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: So there is no 100% perfect answer.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: What we are gonna get are our text, and that's fine.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: We're gonna get tax from people of what they did or what they do.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: And and remember, every situation's different.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: Sometimes you gotta work because the family needs money and you've got to help out.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: Okay, keep that in mind.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Then there's the the situation where if you want to buy your own things, you need to work because this is how you're going to learn.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: This is how I buy my own things.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: I don't agree with the parents saying this is their money that she's earning until she's 18.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: I think it's great they put it in a savings account, but I don't agree with that line where it's they're saying it's their money.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Until they release it.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: I I'm probably because it's like, oh, my house.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: You know how my parents will go, oh, it's my house.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: Okay, that comes that works with outfits that you're gonna wear that I have to protect you from being seven years old wearing a uh belly shirt, uh-huh, you know, and looking inappropriate in public.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Or curfew.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: Or curfew, or you know, things like that.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: Okay, so that those are areas like that.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: In my opinion, what they should have done is come to an agreement with their daughter and said, listen, I think it's great that you want to work.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: And and some kids do.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: I I I will tell you this firsthand.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: I know this from stories.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: We were at party in the park.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: One of Tiffany's daughter's old bosses, Jules' old boss, she used to work at the Big M.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: Is it the Big M or Big W?
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: The Big M Big M in Osceola.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: She worked there from when she was 14 years old on.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: She got her working papers.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: And she only left a few months ago because she got a full-time job with the county now.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: She's, you know, graduated and in her in her line of work.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Right, right.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: She's moving up in the world.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: One of the one of the her old co-workers said, You've got to tell her we miss her.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: We, you know, she was great.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: And I thought that was wonderful.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: So she had started working very young.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: I know for a fact Tiffany and her ex did not take uh all of her money.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: Now, maybe that money went to certain things.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: Some of it might have gone to the clothes she wanted, some of it might have gone to the car.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: They made her buy her own car.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: You know, so so if you have a discussion and say, We're you, you go go work.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: This is great.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: But you're gonna want a car.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Well, guess what?
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: You gotta buy your own car.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: I'll help you with it.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: Have the discussion first.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Say, okay, if we're going to put some money in savings, let's split it down 60-40 or 50-50.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: You get to keep some to use, and then let's put some away.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Because you do have to have some blow-it money.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: You have to have some blow-up money, but also I can't learn how to spend, whether it's wisely or unwisely, without any money in hand.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: And I think that's where there does need to be a negotiation, whether it is that 50-50, 60-40, whatever.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Because then you know there's definitely going to be some backup money for this this kid, whatever they decide.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: And maybe it it's the maybe the negotiation is you want a car, so the 50 that we're taking is going towards the car.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: This other stuff, this other 50 is whatever you want, but may we advise that you don't blow it all on McDonald's.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: Where it's where the where this gets a bad optic is because they took it all without having all of it, without and saying it's theirs and and not having any sort of agreement beforehand.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: And I'd be pissed too, because I'm the one that's still getting up and going to work.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: And and now you're just gonna claim it as yours.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: I think at that point, then I would stop working as much as much.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: You know what I would do?
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: I would find a way I'd be like, take it out of direct deposit, hand me the check directly.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: I'll go to the bank and get my own account.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: And then I would just eliminate my parents.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: So you're actually reversing the positive they're trying to do because kids can be rebellious.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: We got a ton of text.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: We'll get back to it in a minute.
