- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome in to another episode of The check Odaily. I
- 0:12Speaker 1: am Andrew de Checo. Big news Thursday Morning out of
- 0:17Speaker 1: the NFL and the Chicago Bears agree to trade wide
- 0:22Speaker 1: receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills.
- 0:25Speaker 2: The Buffalo Bills.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Get DJ Moore and a twenty twenty six fifth round pick,
- 0:29Speaker 1: and the Bears get a twenty twenty six second round pick.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Why are we talking about that trade when this is
- 0:35Speaker 1: an Eagles podcast? Well, if Dj Moore, who's a good player,
- 0:40Speaker 1: not a great player, He's a quality receiver. I think
- 0:42Speaker 1: he's closer to being a number two receiver than he
- 0:45Speaker 1: is a number one. But if he's going to command
- 0:48Speaker 1: a second round pick, well, what do you think Aj.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Brown is going to warrant?
- 0:53Speaker 1: Because his numbers far exceed that of DJ Moore. And
- 0:58Speaker 1: the Eagles are really playing this right because they're not
- 1:02Speaker 1: just going to give Aj Brown away. They're going to
- 1:04Speaker 1: have to be blown away by a blockbuster type of deal.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I guess, similar to the Quinn Williams deal.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And it's going to have to.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Be for a first round pick, and I imagine more
- 1:18Speaker 1: whether that's a second round pick a top one hundred pick.
- 1:21Speaker 1: But the Eagles are standing firm there. And all this
- 1:24Speaker 1: does is reinforce that the Eagles and Howie Roseman specifically,
- 1:29Speaker 1: they hold the cars. They don't have to move AJ Brown,
- 1:32Speaker 1: they don't have to do anything. AJ Brown still under contract.
- 1:36Speaker 1: And what you saw, and when you see what DJ
- 1:39Speaker 1: Moore commanded, you can just say, hey, look he just
- 1:42Speaker 1: went for a second round pick. This is what I'm
- 1:44Speaker 1: asking for instead of having to hastily unload a player.
- 1:48Speaker 1: And that's kind of where we stand right now. The
- 1:50Speaker 1: Eagles aren't going to blink and they're not going to flinch.
- 1:54Speaker 1: If a team sends over an attractive offer the Eagles,
- 2:01Speaker 1: we'll consider it. But they're not just going to give
- 2:05Speaker 1: away a player of that caliber, knowing how much of
- 2:08Speaker 1: an asset he's been to the Philadelphi Eagles and their
- 2:11Speaker 1: offense and he's key to their passing game. And look,
- 2:14Speaker 1: we've talked a lot about AJ Brown this offseason. I
- 2:18Speaker 1: really don't want to spend any more time talking about
- 2:21Speaker 1: that today, but I do want to put it out
- 2:24Speaker 1: there that DJ Moore commanded a second round pick, which
- 2:27Speaker 1: really supports the Eagles in what they're asking for for
- 2:31Speaker 1: AJ Brown. They're always going to listen but unless you're
- 2:34Speaker 1: going to be a serious negotiator, you're not going to
- 2:38Speaker 1: get aj Brown.
- 2:40Speaker 2: So that was my big takeaway from that trade.
- 2:43Speaker 1: But I want to also look at the eagles top
- 2:46Speaker 1: four free agents and if either or any or all
- 2:52Speaker 1: of them walk, what could be the most logical succession
- 2:55Speaker 1: plan or course of action to replace them? On the right,
- 3:01Speaker 1: Jalen Phillips is the most interesting one by a wide margin,
- 3:06Speaker 1: because he was of course acquired at the trade deadline
- 3:10Speaker 1: for a third round pick. He's young, will be twenty seven,
- 3:13Speaker 1: but he also has the ACL and the Achilles injury
- 3:17Speaker 1: in his past, which one would think would drive the
- 3:20Speaker 1: price down. But in free agency, as we've learned, the
- 3:23Speaker 1: price always tends to go up. But I'm having a
- 3:25Speaker 1: difficult time gauging the market for a Jalen Phillips because
- 3:30Speaker 1: there's a world in which he's in the low twenties
- 3:33Speaker 1: twenty million meeting, or that he gets to the twenty
- 3:37Speaker 1: four to twenty five million mark. And in that case,
- 3:40Speaker 1: if I'm the Eagles, if he gets to twenty five
- 3:42Speaker 1: or north, I'm probably walking away because that's a rich
- 3:46Speaker 1: investment for the player right there, knowing that they have
- 3:50Speaker 1: to pay their own guys in Jalen Carter, and they're
- 3:53Speaker 1: gonna have to make some difficult decisions down the line
- 3:56Speaker 1: there and who they're going to be able to retain
- 4:01Speaker 1: for the foreseeable future. And so it's not always as
- 4:05Speaker 1: cut and dried as it seems. But I think that
- 4:07Speaker 1: if Jalen Phillips commands twenty five million or more, that
- 4:12Speaker 1: might be the walking away price. But I do believe
- 4:14Speaker 1: the Eagles will want to make him a priority and
- 4:16Speaker 1: do whatever they can to keep him there. Not only
- 4:19Speaker 1: is he young and he cost the Eagles a third
- 4:24Speaker 1: round pick, but they also don't have a lot there
- 4:28Speaker 1: at the edge rusher position. You have Nolan Smith, you
- 4:31Speaker 1: have j loox Hunt, but aside from that, there's nothing
- 4:33Speaker 1: else there. And Jalen Phillips, as I've talked a lot
- 4:36Speaker 1: about on this podcast, gives you a headline type of
- 4:39Speaker 1: player who you know can absorb the lion's share of snaps.
- 4:43Speaker 1: You have Jalen Phillips, then you would have jay loox
- 4:45Speaker 1: Hunt and then Nolan Smith slotting ideally as the number
- 4:48Speaker 1: three as rusher, and then that alleviates a lot of
- 4:51Speaker 1: pressure of what the Eagles would have to come out
- 4:53Speaker 1: of the draft with and you never want to go
- 4:55Speaker 1: in to the draft thinking that you have to get
- 4:58Speaker 1: a certain position and this round or this round, because
- 5:02Speaker 1: that's just not the way that successful teams do business,
- 5:05Speaker 1: and certainly the Eagles don't operate that way. But you're
- 5:08Speaker 1: able to go into the draft with a little bit
- 5:10Speaker 1: more of a clearer picture as to the roster and
- 5:15Speaker 1: how it's constructed.
- 5:16Speaker 2: So he will be the priority.
- 5:18Speaker 1: If they can't get Jalen Phillips back in Philadelphia for
- 5:23Speaker 1: another season, what could they do well, there's obviously the
- 5:25Speaker 1: trade market. There's players out there. Max Crosby's a name
- 5:30Speaker 1: who's out there, and that's gonna be awfully rich. You
- 5:33Speaker 1: have Bradley Chubb who was recently released. He's a free agent.
- 5:37Speaker 1: He's not going to give you the same kind of
- 5:38Speaker 1: production that Jalen Phillips can, but he is a player
- 5:41Speaker 1: who has rushed the passer to great success in his career.
- 5:45Speaker 1: But outside of that, there's a lot of third and
- 5:48Speaker 1: fourth rotational edge rushers on the market this year. There's
- 5:52Speaker 1: Trey Hendrickson, of course, but Trey Hendrickson's a little older.
- 5:56Speaker 1: He's going to command a pretty hefty price tag. And
- 6:00Speaker 1: if the Eagles aren't going to be able to afford
- 6:03Speaker 1: Jalen Phillips in this scenario, well, I don't know that
- 6:06Speaker 1: they would pay a player who's older and probably going
- 6:08Speaker 1: to command more, even though he's coming off a slightly
- 6:10Speaker 1: down year. In Trey Hendrickson, there's already reports that the
- 6:14Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys could pivot from their interest in Max Crosby
- 6:17Speaker 1: to Trey Hendrickson, so he'll have plenty of suitors.
- 6:20Speaker 2: But I think.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Probably the most sensible plan of attack in this case
- 6:26Speaker 1: would be to go to the NFL Draft and a
- 6:29Speaker 1: player that I believe would slide in right around twenty three.
- 6:32Speaker 1: If they wanted to go with a first round edge rusher,
- 6:35Speaker 1: it would be Keldrick falk Out of Auburn. Who's Keldrick
- 6:40Speaker 1: falk Well. He's a very lengthy player at six six,
- 6:44Speaker 1: two hundred and seventy pounds. He could still stand to
- 6:47Speaker 1: fill out his frame a little better, but in his
- 6:50Speaker 1: junior season last year, he played in twelve games, had
- 6:53Speaker 1: five tackles for lost, two sacks, ten career sacks for Auburn.
- 6:57Speaker 1: He can play in odd fronts, he can play in
- 6:59Speaker 1: even fronts. I like to see him get a little
- 7:01Speaker 1: bit stronger and as I mentioned, fill out his frame
- 7:03Speaker 1: a little bit more to be able to better anchor.
- 7:06Speaker 1: But this is a pretty fluid mover in terms of athleticism.
- 7:10Speaker 1: He can move laterly, he's instinctual. I think he could
- 7:13Speaker 1: stand to develop his pass rush tool bag and advance
- 7:19Speaker 1: his hand usage, but that's going to come in time.
- 7:21Speaker 1: He's still just twenty years old. But I think when
- 7:24Speaker 1: you look at the first round edge rushers, considering where
- 7:26Speaker 1: the Eagles stand in round one, he would be a
- 7:29Speaker 1: player who would fit. And then there's other players that
- 7:31Speaker 1: I like. But you need someone who you can feel
- 7:36Speaker 1: pretty comfortable in being able to take on I have
- 7:39Speaker 1: a healthy sheriff snaps if you don't keep Jalen Phillips there,
- 7:43Speaker 1: and you don't want to go too far down the
- 7:44Speaker 1: line in the draft and expect that player to rebound.
- 7:48Speaker 1: But I like our Mason Thomas from Oklahoma. He's an
- 7:50Speaker 1: undersized pass rusher about six two two fifty. I really
- 7:54Speaker 1: like Joshua Josephs from Tennessee. I feel like he's going
- 7:58Speaker 1: to start to rise up boards a little bit. And
- 8:00Speaker 1: when I asked him, have you met with the Eagles,
- 8:01Speaker 1: And when other people were asking him this at the
- 8:05Speaker 1: combine and I said, how about Philadelphia? Have you met
- 8:07Speaker 1: with them? He sort of smiled and put his head down.
- 8:10Speaker 1: He goes, no, I definitely haven't met with them. So
- 8:13Speaker 1: to me, that answer suggests that he would have liked
- 8:15Speaker 1: to have met with the Eagles. And that's not to
- 8:17Speaker 1: say that he won't or that he didn't at some
- 8:19Speaker 1: point later in the combine. But he's a player who
- 8:22Speaker 1: I really like. And there's a lot of others I
- 8:24Speaker 1: mentioned na Dame Tucker. He's more of a rotational designated
- 8:29Speaker 1: pass rusher who's going.
- 8:30Speaker 2: To be a Day three guy.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Kind of reminds me of josh Usha and body type
- 8:34Speaker 1: movement and the way that he rushes the passer. So yeah,
- 8:39Speaker 1: you would need to address that fairly early or via
- 8:42Speaker 1: trade if you don't get Jalen Phillips back in Philadelphia
- 8:46Speaker 1: for another season, because that would be a huge void
- 8:50Speaker 1: there left on the defense. Reid Blankenship, that's an interesting
- 8:54Speaker 1: player because he means a lot to the defense.
- 8:58Speaker 2: He is beloved by Vic Vangio. Well.
- 9:00Speaker 1: He does a lot of things that probably get overlooked
- 9:02Speaker 1: by the vast majority of people watching the game. He's
- 9:05Speaker 1: a traffic cop back there. He calms everything down, he
- 9:09Speaker 1: makes sure that everybody's assignment sound. He's instinctual, he's tough,
- 9:13Speaker 1: he doesn't miss games, he's reliable, and all that counts
- 9:17Speaker 1: for something. Oh, by the way, he was a defensive
- 9:19Speaker 1: captain last season, So those type of players are always
- 9:22Speaker 1: difficult to part with. But I also think for a
- 9:25Speaker 1: player of Red Blanket Chip's caliber, there has to be
- 9:28Speaker 1: a price that maybe becomes a little too rich for
- 9:32Speaker 1: the Eagles blood and you maybe look to upgrade the
- 9:35Speaker 1: position and add a little bit more athleticism the pair
- 9:38Speaker 1: with Drew mccoba. If we're talking about seven million per season, yeah,
- 9:43Speaker 1: if I'm the Eagles, sign me up for that. But
- 9:47Speaker 1: if we're talking about nine or maybe ten, and other
- 9:51Speaker 1: teams get in the mix and it's a competitive market,
- 9:54Speaker 1: all it takes is a team or two to really
- 9:56Speaker 1: drive that price up, well.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Then I'm walking away.
- 10:00Speaker 1: But they don't have a lot there behind Drew mccooba, who,
- 10:03Speaker 1: by the way, is coming off a fractured ankle and
- 10:07Speaker 1: didn't finish his rookie season, so he's somewhat of an
- 10:09Speaker 1: unknown commodity. I thought he started playing a lot better
- 10:12Speaker 1: the more, he got acclimated to the system, and playing
- 10:16Speaker 1: it next to re Blanket Ship certainly helped him from
- 10:18Speaker 1: a communications standpoint, being able to confidently flow to the
- 10:22Speaker 1: football and roam a little bit more freely. But beyond that,
- 10:28Speaker 1: Sidney Brown, he's proven that he's not a schematic fit
- 10:30Speaker 1: in Ficke Fangio's defense and that the team tends to
- 10:33Speaker 1: go in another direction when he is in.
- 10:37Speaker 2: For all tents and purposes, the next guy up.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I would argue that Andre sam was probably above Sidney
- 10:42Speaker 1: Brown by the time the season ended last year. Then
- 10:46Speaker 1: you have Marcus Epps, and Marcus Epps is a great story.
- 10:49Speaker 1: He was a six round pick of the Minnesota Vikings.
- 10:51Speaker 1: He played in about eight games for them that year,
- 10:54Speaker 1: then he was waived. The Eagles claimed them off waivers
- 10:57Speaker 1: in that twenty nineteen season, and he stuck in Philadelphia
- 11:01Speaker 1: for a little bit, bounced around the league thirty years old.
- 11:05Speaker 1: He's not someone who is a headliner. He's probably best
- 11:08Speaker 1: suit to be a third safety, but he does give
- 11:12Speaker 1: you a baseline level of competence, and he's a smart,
- 11:16Speaker 1: fundamentally sound player. That being said, he'll probably be out
- 11:20Speaker 1: there for the second, maybe third wave of free agency.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I would imagine then you have to look at the
- 11:25Speaker 1: free agent market. Gino Stone, who was just most recently
- 11:30Speaker 1: with the Bengals, would be a player who would make
- 11:33Speaker 1: some sense there. He is twenty seven years old, well,
- 11:38Speaker 1: he will be twenty seven years old. He was a
- 11:40Speaker 1: seventh round pick in twenty twenty of the Baltimore Ravens,
- 11:43Speaker 1: and he started all seventeen games for the Cincinnati Bengals
- 11:48Speaker 1: the past two seasons.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Had one hundred and.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Four tackles last year two sacks, four pass defended, two interceptions.
- 11:57Speaker 1: He had four interceptions of the year before. He's someone
- 12:00Speaker 1: who isn't going to break the bank. Might command a
- 12:02Speaker 1: little bit less on the open market than maybe a
- 12:04Speaker 1: red blanket ship. So if you can't keep reading, you
- 12:07Speaker 1: want to go for the veteran type of player to
- 12:10Speaker 1: ensure that there's no drop off or growing pains, if
- 12:13Speaker 1: you will, Well, Gino Stone would make some sense, but
- 12:17Speaker 1: I would probably look towards the draft to find a
- 12:22Speaker 1: player that could pair with Drew mccouba and give the
- 12:25Speaker 1: Eagles that young secondary that they're building with Quinna Mitchell,
- 12:29Speaker 1: Cooper Degen and Drew mccouba. It's not gonna be Caleb
- 12:33Speaker 1: Downs from Ohio State. He's going to be the first
- 12:35Speaker 1: safety taken. It's probably not gonna be aj Halkey from LSU.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I'm not also sure if he's a schematic fit for
- 12:42Speaker 1: what the Eagles want. But who I really like, And
- 12:45Speaker 1: I'll give you two players that I don't want to
- 12:47Speaker 1: inundate you with too much info on these prospects just yet.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I like Emmanuel McNeil Warren from Toledo six foot two,
- 12:55Speaker 1: two hundred and two pounds, twenty one years old, played
- 12:59Speaker 1: all four season. He's a ballhawk, He's fluid. I loved
- 13:04Speaker 1: it the way that he moves and covers a lot
- 13:06Speaker 1: of ground. He's a confident guy. I was there when
- 13:08Speaker 1: he spoke at the combine at the podium. Created fourteen
- 13:12Speaker 1: turnovers in his career, including five interceptions, and he is
- 13:15Speaker 1: just someone who has a knack for finding the football
- 13:20Speaker 1: and creating big plays. And when you talk about that
- 13:24Speaker 1: length and the chemistry and the brotherhood that he already
- 13:29Speaker 1: has with Quinya Mitchell playing with him at Toledo, I
- 13:32Speaker 1: think he would be a really good fit. Probably a
- 13:35Speaker 1: second rounder with that fifty fourth pick would have to
- 13:37Speaker 1: be the one if you're going to get someone like
- 13:40Speaker 1: that in I would like to see him get a
- 13:42Speaker 1: little bit stronger. He has a linear build, but I
- 13:45Speaker 1: think he has a lot of translatable traits that to
- 13:47Speaker 1: me suggests that he will have a relatively seem less transition.
- 13:52Speaker 2: To the next level.
- 13:53Speaker 1: The other player I want to talk to you guys
- 13:55Speaker 1: about is Jalen Kilgore from South Carolina six one two eleven,
- 13:59Speaker 1: twenty one years old.
- 14:00Speaker 2: What does he do well? He moves like.
- 14:06Speaker 1: He moves like a corner, but he hits like a linebacker,
- 14:11Speaker 1: and I like his versatility. I think that might be
- 14:14Speaker 1: most appealing. He can move all around formations. He's a
- 14:19Speaker 1: ballhawk in the sense that he had seven interceptions in
- 14:22Speaker 1: his final two seasons. Physicality is the name of his game.
- 14:28Speaker 1: He is he will run through contact, he will he
- 14:35Speaker 1: will read and diagnose things very quickly. I mentioned the
- 14:38Speaker 1: versatility that he can be deployed in a multitude of ways,
- 14:43Speaker 1: and the fact that he's just twenty one years old,
- 14:48Speaker 1: I think is also really appealing. And he probably goes
- 14:51Speaker 1: a little bit after a manual McNeil Warren because that's
- 14:56Speaker 1: kind of where I have him slotted just after him
- 14:59Speaker 1: in my in the way that I have my safety rankings.
- 15:02Speaker 1: But if you're trying to get younger there and continue
- 15:04Speaker 1: to fill out that secondary with younger players, the draft
- 15:07Speaker 1: might be the best way to go there. I don't
- 15:09Speaker 1: know that you can go that way with corner because
- 15:12Speaker 1: depending on where the well we know where the Eagles
- 15:14Speaker 1: are slotted Avian Terrell, that might be a stretch there
- 15:18Speaker 1: in round one when you have the need for offensive tackle,
- 15:20Speaker 1: maybe edge rusher, and the further you wait in this draft,
- 15:24Speaker 1: I don't think it's particularly deep in terms of getting
- 15:27Speaker 1: frontline players that you can feel pretty confident that they
- 15:31Speaker 1: can step in and be that top corner, which is
- 15:33Speaker 1: why I mentioned Cam Taylor britt as a redemption type
- 15:37Speaker 1: of story of reclamation project, twenty six years old, former
- 15:40Speaker 1: second round pick. Maybe a change of scenery helps him out.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I mentioned Joshua Williams of the Kansas City Chiefs six
- 15:47Speaker 1: foot three, one hundred and ninety three pounds. He can't
- 15:49Speaker 1: teach that length. He is pretty athletic for his size,
- 15:52Speaker 1: a better press man corner, but he also has acquitted
- 15:57Speaker 1: himself fairly well in zone and he hasn't played a lot.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I mean, there's three seasons. His first three years with
- 16:05Speaker 1: the Chiefs, two of those years he played over four
- 16:08Speaker 1: hundred defensive snaps. One of those years he played over
- 16:10Speaker 1: three hundred of those snaps. In his final year in
- 16:13Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, he always played seventeen defensive snaps and
- 16:17Speaker 1: was almost exclusively utilized on special teams. So there's questions there,
- 16:24Speaker 1: But I think if you're looking at what he's going
- 16:27Speaker 1: to dictate on the open market, and I think it's
- 16:30Speaker 1: roughly expected to be around one and a half million
- 16:33Speaker 1: on a one year deal, that's an upside swing that
- 16:36Speaker 1: you sort of bank on the Eagles track record on
- 16:40Speaker 1: player development. If you're trying to add a player in
- 16:42Speaker 1: there and for no other reason, if all else fails,
- 16:45Speaker 1: you know that he can help you on special teams,
- 16:47Speaker 1: which mac McWilliams and Jacory and Bennett, both of whom
- 16:50Speaker 1: were on the twenty twenty five fifty three man roster,
- 16:54Speaker 1: didn't do and couldn't help the Eagles in that area.
- 16:57Speaker 1: So I think that might be sort of a smarter
- 16:59Speaker 1: save type of addition. Then we look at tight end.
- 17:04Speaker 1: We've talked a lot about Dallas Goddter and whether or
- 17:09Speaker 1: not the Eagles would be able to afford what he
- 17:12Speaker 1: could potentially command on the open market. Last year one year,
- 17:16Speaker 1: ten million dollars. He had a career season sixty catches,
- 17:19Speaker 1: eleven receiving touchdowns. He is thirty one years old. He
- 17:22Speaker 1: does have an extensive injury history, so I'm having a
- 17:25Speaker 1: tough time gauging this as well. And so if I
- 17:29Speaker 1: had to lean one way or the other, I would
- 17:31Speaker 1: lean towards Dallas got Ter not coming back. But that
- 17:34Speaker 1: shouldn't it shouldn't spell distress if you're an Eagles fan,
- 17:41Speaker 1: because I understand that they don't have any tight ends
- 17:44Speaker 1: on the roster aside from e. J.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Jenkins and Jaheim Bell.
- 17:48Speaker 1: But there's a lot of quality players in the draft,
- 17:51Speaker 1: for one, which is a no brainer for the Eagles
- 17:54Speaker 1: to take one end this draft.
- 17:56Speaker 2: But also in free agency. Hey, I know a lot
- 17:58Speaker 2: of you out there are like me.
- 18:00Speaker 3: You either travel a lot for work or you got
- 18:03Speaker 3: a back to work policy and you're always out of
- 18:05Speaker 3: the house, but your family is still home. Well, I

- 20:02Speaker 3: one and up.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Chig Aconkwo from the Tennessee Titans is a player who
- 20:07Speaker 1: I think would make a lot of sense. He's twenty
- 20:10Speaker 1: six years old, has a unique type of bills sort
- 20:13Speaker 1: of like an h back, but he's athletic. I think
- 20:16Speaker 1: that the Titans could have been a little bit more
- 20:18Speaker 1: creative and how they utilized him. I don't know that
- 20:20Speaker 1: they fully accentuated his athleticism and versatility, and maybe a
- 20:25Speaker 1: team like the Eagles are able to give him more
- 20:27Speaker 1: volume and find different ways to get him involved offensively,
- 20:31Speaker 1: different ways for him to touch the football. Give you
- 20:34Speaker 1: Mike command about eight or nine million a season, which
- 20:36Speaker 1: I think would be a lot more appealing, especially given
- 20:39Speaker 1: his age. And then there's also Caid Otten of the
- 20:42Speaker 1: Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There's familiarity there with Josh Grizzard, the
- 20:46Speaker 1: Eagles pass game coordinator. Kate Otten six foot five, two
- 20:49Speaker 1: forty seven can block a little bit, and last season,
- 20:55Speaker 1: fifty nine catches five hundred and seventy two yards in
- 20:57Speaker 1: a touchdown. Look, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were sage by injury,
- 21:00Speaker 1: so he saw a little bit more.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Usage than he typically does.
- 21:05Speaker 1: But even the year before, fifty nine catches six hundred
- 21:08Speaker 1: yards and four touchdowns out of his sixty three career games,
- 21:12Speaker 1: he started fifty eight, two hundred and seven career catches
- 21:15Speaker 1: for twenty eighteen yards and eleven touchdowns. I imagine he'll
- 21:20Speaker 1: fall right within that Chiga Concrow eight or nine million
- 21:25Speaker 1: a year.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Type of threshold, if you will.
- 21:29Speaker 1: But you know, I do think that he would be
- 21:31Speaker 1: another player that if he can't keep Dallas Goddard, you
- 21:34Speaker 1: have to give yourself an experienced player to at least
- 21:38Speaker 1: start the season and then fill out the roster with
- 21:41Speaker 1: maybe a Charlie Koehler who is a tremendous blocker, an
- 21:44Speaker 1: extension of the Ravens offensive line, only thirty career receptions.
- 21:48Speaker 1: He's going to be a low cost, valuable free agent
- 21:52Speaker 1: addition for the Eagles. So they look to reshape that room,
- 21:55Speaker 1: and then you draft a player in the in the
- 21:57Speaker 1: twenty twenty six NFL Draft that can give you the
- 22:02Speaker 1: best of both worlds. Maybe it's an Oscar Delt from
- 22:05Speaker 1: Georgia who's gonna be a Day two guy. Maybe it's
- 22:08Speaker 1: a Justin Jolie from NC State who I really like
- 22:11Speaker 1: he's a.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Third or a fourth round guy.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Maybe it's an Eli Stowers at pick fifty four at
- 22:17Speaker 1: a Vanderbilt who is a receiving centric player who offers
- 22:23Speaker 1: developmental upside as a blocker. But he kind of reminds
- 22:26Speaker 1: me a little bit more of Evan Ingram, and if
- 22:28Speaker 1: they really want to swing big, you'd have to probably
- 22:30Speaker 1: trade up for him from twenty three.
- 22:32Speaker 2: But Kenyon Sadik is.
- 22:34Speaker 1: The real deal and I get Vernon Davis vibes when
- 22:37Speaker 1: I watch him play. So they're gonna have a lot
- 22:39Speaker 1: of options to fill out the roster in that in
- 22:43Speaker 1: that way, but I think the best way to do
- 22:45Speaker 1: it would be you sign a low cost veteran and
- 22:49Speaker 1: free agency, get yourself a blocking tight end, either in
- 22:52Speaker 1: free agency or in the draft, and then get yourself
- 22:54Speaker 1: that well rounded player that's going to be your tight
- 22:57Speaker 1: end for the next eight or ten years in this class,
- 22:59Speaker 1: take advantage of a loaded draft class and get your guy.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Then when it comes to the last of the big
- 23:06Speaker 1: four Eagles free agents, NA Kobe Dean, Well, he has
- 23:10Speaker 1: the toughest path to return, if I'm being honest, only
- 23:13Speaker 1: because the Eagles drafted Jahid Campbell, who played very well
- 23:16Speaker 1: before the Kobe Dean sort of took over and it
- 23:18Speaker 1: was throw through no fault of his own. Nakobe just
- 23:21Speaker 1: played the position before. There's a lot of confidence there.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Vic Vangio loves him. He was sort of the quarterback
- 23:28Speaker 1: on the field on the defensive side. And with all
- 23:33Speaker 1: that being said, you didn't draft jah HoTT Campbell in
- 23:35Speaker 1: the first round to not play for another year. You
- 23:38Speaker 1: drafted him to be that centerpiece alongside with Zach Bahn.
- 23:41Speaker 1: And that's what I imagine is going to happen. And
- 23:44Speaker 1: I would also imagine that the Kobe Dean's gonna have
- 23:46Speaker 1: his handful of suitors that being said, if you're inn
- 23:49Speaker 1: Kobe Dean, take the money, go with whoever pays you
- 23:53Speaker 1: the most. Because the NFL is so fickle, He's battled
- 23:57Speaker 1: so many injuries. But I do believe that there will
- 23:59Speaker 1: be team or two that gives him the money that
- 24:03Speaker 1: he deserves and he's earned. Whether that's a team like
- 24:06Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboys, who of course have Christian Parker there
- 24:08Speaker 1: on hand, who knows him very well, he can be
- 24:11Speaker 1: a culture setter.
- 24:13Speaker 2: That remains to be seen.
- 24:14Speaker 1: But I imagine that Dallas Cowboys won't be the only
- 24:17Speaker 1: team that are not only in on Na Kobe Dean,
- 24:20Speaker 1: but also some of the other Eagles free agents that
- 24:23Speaker 1: Christian knows quite well. There's not an obvious succession plan
- 24:27Speaker 1: there because that would be Johad Campbell. It's not like
- 24:30Speaker 1: they have to go and get anybody to fill that vacancy.
- 24:33Speaker 1: You can draft somebody, you can sign a middling free agent,
- 24:36Speaker 1: but they have Zach Bond, Jahad Campbell, Jeremiah Trotter Junior
- 24:40Speaker 1: smile mind, and maybe you add another piece on Day
- 24:44Speaker 1: three to round out that group and be a special teamer.
- 24:47Speaker 1: But that's the way that I see the Eagles Big
- 24:49Speaker 1: four free agents going into free agency, and how I
- 24:53Speaker 1: would probably approach filling those vacancies if they or any
- 24:58Speaker 1: of them leave and go somewhere else.
- 25:00Speaker 2: That's gonna do it.
- 25:01Speaker 1: For this edition of the Checho Deily, I'm Andrew de Checko,
- 25:05Speaker 1: and I'll catch you all on the next one.
