- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Men, women, kids, white men, old men, like he was all over that show.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: You used to be the middle school, a lot of choice.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Like critics or white.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Thanks for having me, man.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Appreciate you.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, thank you.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: How are you doing?
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: I'm doing good, man.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: I'm doing good.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: You know, I've just sweated my ass off in Vienna for a week.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: So getting this nice trying to get the Celsius down, this nice 20, 24 degrees.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Is that 24?
- 0:46SPEAKER_03: I think it's 21 today.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: 21?
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: I think it's 21, yeah.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: It's going down.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: It's going down.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 0:51SPEAKER_03: It's dropping.
- 0:51SPEAKER_03: And then it's going to go back up next week when you're gone.
- 0:53SPEAKER_03: I'm gone.
- 0:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that'll be great.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'll be good.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: I'm doing good.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Thanks for having me.
- 0:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's been horrible here though.
- 0:59SPEAKER_03: It's been so hot.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: It's been, I feel like it's been hot.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: I feel like we're closer to the sun.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: I know that's scientifically not correct.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Uh, but it's been, because I'm from Los Angeles, as you know, and it was hot as hell before we left, before I left there.
- 1:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: I was in Croatia, Montenegro, Vienna before coming to London.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and those aren't cold places.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Hot as balls.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Uh and but everywhere else has been saying, like, yeah, man, we're having a worse heat wave.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: It's been crazy.
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: Well, what you missed was it was up to like I think the hottest it got here was 34, which is like 34?
- 1:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's like nearly that's gonna be like nearly a hundred, I think.
- 1:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I was like shaking hands with the devil.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was that was unbearable.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Because London London people, London people, I'd be seeing online, London people are uh the folks from London will be like, oh my gosh, it's the equivalent of like 78 degrees.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: No, no, no.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: And we'd be like, and they'd be saying it's so hot, we'd be like, man, that's a pleasant day.
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: In LA, that's a pleasant day.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: That's a pleasant day.
- 1:58SPEAKER_03: Here it's not because we don't have air con.
- 1:59SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 2:00SPEAKER_03: And we don't have we have like too much insulation.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 2:03SPEAKER_03: So it just like stays in here.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: That's true.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: It's so unbearable.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: The place, the place I have, the place I'm standing out, doesn't have air conditioning.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: And uh but they have a fan.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Which like if you talk to a lot of actors, that's not generally great.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: It's not great, no.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we wake up and our throats are all dry and scratchy.
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I do I do not enjoy that.
- 2:25SPEAKER_03: And like, yeah, so it's been it's been unbearable, but now it seems to have dropped.
- 2:29SPEAKER_03: So hopefully it stays.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: I'm loving it.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: We'll see.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm loving it.
- 2:32SPEAKER_03: So where are you?
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: You're off to Edinburgh after this.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: I am, yeah, off to Scotland, uh, which is objectively winter.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Uh for our California California blood.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Uh but yeah, I'm doing French, which is dope.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: It's my you said you did it a couple you did it a few times.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: I've done it a few times.
- 2:50SPEAKER_03: Not like not runs.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: I've got I've gone up there to like tech stuff and then like done spots up there.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: Nice on them up there.
- 2:56SPEAKER_03: So like I'll do it.
- 2:57SPEAKER_03: I don't want to do a full run.
- 2:58SPEAKER_03: I don't think ever.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's it's a lot.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: It's a lot.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: And I'm a I grew up in theater, so I'm used to You're used to like the same show again.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: But it's too much walking.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: It's a lot of walking.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: So much walking.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: You know that song?
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Uh, who sings it?
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: It's uh the the I Will what was their name?
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: The I Will Walk 500 Proclaimers.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: The proclaimers, yes.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: I found out they were from Scotland.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: And I was in Scotland last year and I was walking, I was like, that song is bullshit.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Ain't nobody walking.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: You're not walking 500 of these miles, man.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Like for nobody.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: There's no love in the world.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: No love in the world that'll make me walk.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: None.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Nah.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: It's so hilly there.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Like that's all.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: And it's not even it's hilly and it's cobblestone rose, which yes, for us modern people, yeah, we don't walk on uneven ground.
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: I remember the first year I went up there, um, the accommodation I was staying in was like 40-minute walks, which I was like, oh, that's fine.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: That'll be all right.
- 4:01SPEAKER_03: That 40-minute walk is not fun.
- 4:03SPEAKER_03: It's getting Ubers all the time.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, your ankles be hurting because they're just wobbling, walking on uneven rocks and stones.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Going home at 3 a.m.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: and wal walking along that.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: No.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: It's too much, man.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: That's too much.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I'll be I'll be in Scotland.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Uh that that's what it really is, it's all the walking.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: You're getting your true 15,000 steps every day for French.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: And you're going for like 10 days, you said?
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm doing some shows with uh an improv group called Holy Shit Improv.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: So I saw them a couple of years ago there.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: It's uh I was I did stuff with them last year.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: I'm doing some more stuff this year.
- 4:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Uh a lot of dope people are gonna be there.
- 4:42SPEAKER_03: Um who's there this year?
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Uh for uh Holy Shit.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Uh Hannah Pilkes.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, great, I love it.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Hannah's great.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Uh she's actually doing crowd control tomorrow too.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Oh nice um here in London.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: Oh, great.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Uh I mean, I don't know when this is coming out, but she did it.
- 4:57SPEAKER_03: This will be, I think it's like a week or two.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, she did it.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: She did it, she did it.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Uh Iffy Wadaway.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: If he's great, yeah.
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: Um myself.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: But then also a lot of people just are Demi's gonna be Demi's up there.
- 5:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he's doing the whole month again.
- 5:12SPEAKER_03: He he just like loves it so much.
- 5:14SPEAKER_03: He just He does.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: By the time this by the time this comes out, he will still be there.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: I'll be gone.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:20SPEAKER_03: He was telling me about the new show, and it just sounds so great.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: It's fun, man.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: It's fun.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: He's he's he's he's dope.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: So yeah, yeah, man.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: I'm excited.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be super fun.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Uh it's always fun playing to.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: I love a lot of comedians are on the road right now.
- 5:34SPEAKER_03: So you know.
- 5:35SPEAKER_03: There's a lot of Americans here at the moment.
- 5:37SPEAKER_03: Like we'll a lot more I'm finding a lot more Americans are coming over to do the fringe.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: And it's great.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: We're doing the fringe, we're doing a lot of shows in London.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Next year, uh, I know it's gonna be a lot of people because shit is already in motion for next fringe.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Uh, so it's gonna be it's gonna be a really big one.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:56SPEAKER_03: Uh anything you can say or like you you need to.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, not yet, because it's not announced yet.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: But like I the plans are a lot of people's favorite internet comedians will probably be in Edinburgh next season.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: I can see.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: I I think I know what you're you're saying.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so uh it's gonna be it's you know, we're we're coming out here.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: It's almost like the test run happening right now.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Pretty much, yeah, pretty much.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so it's it's pretty, it's pretty cool.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm excited.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: It's really dope to uh do international travel and comedy at the same time.
- 6:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:28SPEAKER_03: And you're here to you're you're in uh London, you're gonna do be at the roundhouse uh this uh tomorrow.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, man.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Uh this recording.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Doing, yeah, so you know, you missed it.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Uh or you were there and hope you had a good time.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Uh we're doing uh so I host, you know, a show on Dropout TV called Crowd Control.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a great show.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Uh thank you.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we just launched season two, which is last night, wasn't it?
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah, a couple nights ago, or I don't I truly don't know what day it is.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: Uh uh we have been doing live shows as well.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: Which is a yeah.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: It works so well.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: It must work so well as a live show.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: It's it's fun, man.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: The the cool thing about crowd control that I like is it is consensual crowd work.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: You know, so both parties are, you know, yes, we want to do this.
- 7:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: Uh not saying crowd work is, you know, not that, but you know it walking through the door, like I may be talked to and I'm willing to talk, right?
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you can tell.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, you can.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: Um so you know, the live version, since we don't have the shirts, we give everybody paddles.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: People not everybody, we can't be running around.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: This is like a thousand seat theater, we can't be doing that.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: But people in the general vicinity of the stage, we give them like these little crowd control paddles, they write on there.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh, and then we go from there.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we have we have some fun with it.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Were you did you come up with the concept for it for uh dropout?
- 7:53SPEAKER_03: No.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: No, uh it was a game changer episode.
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: Uh which is that's how I yeah.
- 8:00SPEAKER_03: That's how I saw it.
- 8:00SPEAKER_03: I wasn't sure if it was you that came up with the concept.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, no.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Sam and the game changer team came up with it.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: Uh but as soon as they shot it, um Sam texts me maybe like two weeks later.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: He was like, Be on the lookout, an offer is coming your way.
- 8:17SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's great.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: Uh so that was the first thing he said to me about the show.
- 8:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: And then I just got an offer for it.
- 8:24SPEAKER_03: Oh, amazing.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Um and I didn't even know what the show was.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Uh I was just like, host the show?
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, sure.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, cool.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: But he'd mark it.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: Sign, send in my team to sign the contracts.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: And so this is before like it had even started being edited.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Like the game changer episode.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: And so uh around maybe two months before we were about to start shooting the first episode of the first season, I hit up the team and I was like, hey y'all, I'm really super excited.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: This is gonna be dope.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Uh, what is this show?
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: I don't know what this show is.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Like, and then they was like, oh, here it is.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh, that sounds, that sounds fun, that sounds cool.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: And then I start, and then I saw the edit um of the first of the game changer episode.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: Uh but we shot that entire first season before Game Changer season seven, I think it was, even premiered.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: So like That's crazy.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: It was all six episodes were already in a can um before anybody even saw it.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: So it was spun off before it even.
- 9:28SPEAKER_03: So they they knew it was gonna work as well.
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: They knew they wanted to do it.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they knew it.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: They knew they wanted to do it.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: Uh it was super interesting though, because you know, doing a whole season of a show as a production team, like Dropout is very like every show has its own production team for the most part.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: Um and Sam isn't super involved in every show.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: Um so doing a show that had not been released yet, that people had not given feedback for yet, that nobody's ever seen yet, uh, that we are are also changing.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, because we saw the first episode and we knew like, okay, it can't be exactly this.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: Has it changed a little bit?
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, of course.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: Uh, but with no real internal feedback, uh was very interesting.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: Did you find it different than going into season two?
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: It was.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: It was really different going because going into season two for uh in pre-production, I was I'm a producer on this second season, and so I was a part of that process.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, we had a whole season of things that we learned and things that we were like, okay, yeah, this works, this doesn't work.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: Uh this editing works, let's let's do this, let's do that.
- 10:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: Um also we had a season to show people.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: So we were able to get this cat the the comic list this season.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: It's crazy.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: It's crazy, yeah.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: Can you tell can you tell the uh Yeah, we got we got I mean, it's it's released, so it's not a secret, but we have um like Ron Funches, Taylor Tomlison, John Marco is back.
- 11:00SPEAKER_03: Amazing.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: Marie Bamford, um, Dulce Sloan.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: We have um, oh my gosh, one of my favorite people that I was so excited about, Tony Baker, who's a really funny comedian.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: Tony's so good.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: He's so funny.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: I was so happy to get him on dropout.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Um just so many really dope Reggie Watts.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: Um, a lot of really dope people, a lot of funny people.
- 11:22SPEAKER_03: That's so cool.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: And so, yeah, we we we actually so coming into season two was different.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: I was actually more nervous coming into season two.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I can imagine.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Stepping out for that first episode that I we recorded.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Uh after that, you know, the ground, I hit the ground running, but because I'm like, all right, yeah, you know, I'm not ignorant to what this is now.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: Uh, and I want this to be good.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it was it was really cool, man.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: It was nice.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: It was a really fun season to approach and to have an idea of what we want what I and what we wanted it to be, so it was really cool.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: And you I saw a thing about like you you have a different outfit for each one this season.
- 11:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 11:59SPEAKER_03: That was my favorite.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: That was my favorite thing.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: When we wrapped season one and we were doing like our postseason mortem.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: Um the first thing I said to our producer, his name is Sutton, um, McKee.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: And I was just like, I have an idea for if we get season two, yeah.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: I have an idea.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I I want because there are so many iconic there are so many like iconic black stand-up comedians in general.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Uh but one thing black comedians really do well is they dress the part as well.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: The outfit.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: It's the outfit.
- 12:32SPEAKER_03: On the special.
- 12:33SPEAKER_03: On the special.
- 12:34SPEAKER_03: It's a part of it.
- 12:34SPEAKER_03: It is a part of it.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a part of it.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: Uh and I was just like, okay.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: If I get a season two, especially since this is a show where I'm hosting it, and this new season, I I am interacting a lot more, talking to the audience more, you know, I'm I'm a part of the show a little bit more.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: But it is, you know, it's three other comedians.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm not, it's not my special.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Uh so I was just like, I want to do something that's a love letter to all the black comedians that made me fall in love with entertainment.
- 13:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Uh and also, you know, Dropout is very white.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: And I was like, I want to introduce our white fans to more stand-ups that are iconic that they probably have not come across for whatever reason that may be.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: Uh so yeah, I told them this idea and they were like, I love it.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: And then when we got to season two, I was like, this this is happening.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: I want this to happen.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: Uh we blew past the wardrobe budget.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: We blew past it.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: Uh I don't know about how much, but I know we blew past it.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: Uh, but they were very happy.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: And like the every epit, the Chelsea Robbins, who is our costume designer, she does stuff for a lot of dropout shows.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: She was so excited about this idea.
- 13:55SPEAKER_00: We had so much fun putting the looks together.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: Uh, and on set, it was such a joy.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: It was one of my favorite experiences on a set.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, every time I would like walk out of the dressing room or pair and makeup or whatever, uh, and people would see what I got on from the episode.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: People were like, this shit is tight.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: I love this.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: Uh, Cat Williams was a very popular.
- 14:19SPEAKER_03: Is it is it the green one?
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: That's the green one with uh with my hair, flat on horn.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: Uh when I tell you every crew, cast, everybody lost their shit.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: That's so like it was it was truly one of the fake one of my favorite backstage experiences.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: Everybody lost their shit for that.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: It was really cool.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, man.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm really, really excited.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: I can't wait to see those now.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's really fun.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: I saw the first one.
- 14:46SPEAKER_03: The first one was uh prior, wasn't it?
- 14:48SPEAKER_03: Prior from uh live on the Sunset.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Sunset script, yes, the red, the red one.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 14:53SPEAKER_03: Please tell me you did Eddie Murphy.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: That was that was what kicked off the idea.
- 14:59SPEAKER_03: That's what blew past the budget.
- 15:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: Right, the red leather.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: That's what kicked off the idea was I was just like, I wanna, you know, I don't look as good as Eddie did in it, but like I want to do the I gotta do the leather.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: And one thing I realized is a lot of 80s and 90s, 90s comedians, it was a lot of fucking leather.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: So I had a lot of leather outfits.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: I was sweating my ass off on that stage, but it was it was fun.
- 15:23SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's so that's such a great idea.
- 15:24SPEAKER_03: That's so fun.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was really cool.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: Really cool.
- 15:28SPEAKER_03: And did the d did the audience immediately clock it?
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: Some of the outfits they did.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: Cat Williams, of course, people clocked it immediately.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: Uh obviously Eddie, people clocked immediately.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: There were some that people were just because like the red suit is iconic.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: But like also it's just a red suit.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know, so it's like, all right, Turkey's just looking looking fly.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: Uh we had a, you know, we got some Bernie Max in there, some said the entertainers, uh, some Sinbad.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: Sinbad.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, so there are a few that people probably didn't like readily clock.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Uh but you know, people were still like, you know, you're looking tired, which is really cool.
- 16:09SPEAKER_03: Was there uh so to talk to like bring it into the movie?
- 16:12SPEAKER_03: Was there a Martin?
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: There was a Martin.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah?
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there was a Martin Lawrence.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: Martin Lawrence was is probably the first like when it came out special that I remember watching.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Maybe Sinbad, but but my mom was watching Sinbad and she would let me watch it.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: But when Martin Law when You So Crazy came out, which was I think '94, um even though I was probably too young to watch it, I was watching it.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: And oh, definitely too young.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he had uh definitely too young.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: I was like eight or nine.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: And then um he had this iconic black leather, really baggy fit for that.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: And so that was that was that Eddie Murphy Raw and Delirious are obviously but like for me, Martin You So Crazy is also like right up there.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: Uh and Chelsea, one thing that you will see uh if you watch Use So Crazy, he has this really cool like patch on his shirt, and in the patch um is an M and an L for Martin Lawrence.
- 17:16SPEAKER_00: And Chelsea made me that patch with the J in the N.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: Uh so like it's really fucking cool.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: Uh so yeah, definitely got a use so crazy.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: I had to get a Martin in there.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: Did you get to keep the wardrobe?
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: I got to keep a lot of it.
- 17:28SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: Uh not all.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: Some of it was rented.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: Some of it, some of it I got to keep.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: I have the red leather.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: Great.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: Great.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: I have the red leather for sure.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Uh so so yeah, it's really, it's really cool.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's so cool.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: I should have, I should have, I truly, I should have brought, I should have brought some for Crowd Control Live.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: Like the Martin, the my but it hasn't come out yet, so people won't.
- 17:52SPEAKER_03: Oh, next time you come over.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: Next time.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:55SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's great.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:57SPEAKER_03: You have your outfit ready for tomorrow?
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: I do, but it's just a regular.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and obviously, you know, I'm here for so long that I tried to pack as light as possible.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:06SPEAKER_03: You don't want to be lugging those around for a one-off.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: So, you know, I'll just be wearing regular balls.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: You know, still looking, still looking eyed, but yeah.
- 18:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:18SPEAKER_03: Um, okay, so let's let's go into the movie then.
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: Let's do it.
- 18:21SPEAKER_03: So you um you picked the movie Big Mama's House.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: Martin Lawrence.
- 18:25SPEAKER_03: Martin Lawrence Classic.
- 18:26SPEAKER_03: A classic.
- 18:27SPEAKER_03: It's a classic.
- 18:27SPEAKER_03: This is my childhood.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: I loved it.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: I love this movie.
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: So it's um it's came out came out in 2000.
- 18:35SPEAKER_03: It's rated uh 31% on Rotten Tomatoes.
- 18:38SPEAKER_03: Crazy critics.
- 18:40SPEAKER_03: 57 from the audience, which I was surprised.
- 18:42SPEAKER_03: It was also surprising too.
- 18:43SPEAKER_03: I thought it was gonna be so much higher.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, here's the thing.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: You know, it is a it is a crazy it's crazy, but it's great.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: Um, but it's so funny.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: And you know, I would I would venture to say, you know, probably a lot of white audiences, uh, white audience members are probably like, what is this again?
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: Uh but you know, it is it is truly such a funny, silly, stupid movie.
- 19:11SPEAKER_03: It's so funny.
- 19:12SPEAKER_03: Like I I I have such good such fond memories of this movie.
- 19:15SPEAKER_03: Like so I have a f I have such fond memories of this and blue streak at the same time.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, because they came out relatively.
- 19:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like a year apart.
- 19:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:22SPEAKER_03: So I think I saw Blue Streak first.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 19:25SPEAKER_03: And I would have been like maybe ten, I don't know, something like that.
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: And then this came out right after, and then like yeah, I just so like that was that was my introduction to Martin Lawrence because I I don't remember Martin being on here.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, interesting.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 19:41SPEAKER_03: So Fresh Prince was the big show here.
- 19:44SPEAKER_03: So I knew Will Smith, I knew Bad Boys somewhat, but it was too young to see it.
- 19:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:50SPEAKER_03: It probably didn't clack as much for you.
- 19:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:53SPEAKER_03: And then so I knew so my f my introduction to Martin Lawrence was Blue Streak, Big Mama's House, and then the special I remember was is it Run Tell That?
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: Run Tell That, that was the second special.
- 20:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: I remember that being a big thing.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:06SPEAKER_03: I don't remember seeing it at the time because it was like way too adult for me.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I remember seeing that one in theaters.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: Uh because that's when specials used to come out.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: Like as movies.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: Uh so You So Crazy came.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: What was You So Crazy a movie or was it a HBO Special?
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: I think it was a movie, if I'm not mistaken.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: But Run Tell That was definitely a movie that came out.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: Cause that was when the original Kings of Comedy would came out as well, which was a movie and things like that.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: I'm almost sure You So Crazy had a theatrical release.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: Uh but I yeah, so in the nineties Mart Martin is m one of my f it's probably top three my favorite shows of all time.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: Like the Martin TV show.
- 20:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: And so Martin, Fresh Prince were the top two, especially.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: Uh in the black community or for black TV shows, black led uh character TV shows.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: And so when they came out with bad boys, that was just like, you know, it's like having the two superpowers, like Superman and Batman, yeah, doing a movie together.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: Um but then, you know, Martin had went away.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: Uh the TV show got, you know, and ended in '98.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: And then Martin also had like some public uh issues with mental health and sickness and things like that.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: So Blue Streak and Big Mama House was like his comeback movies.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: Uh so I was ready for him.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: And the thing that I love about Martin, Eddie Murphy also did this a lot with Nutty Professor.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: But the Martin TV show, if you have not seen, if you've not watched it.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: It's on Netflix in America at least.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: So that's a bummer.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: Get that VPN.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: It's really hard to find it here.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: Get that VP in, yeah, send it to America and watch Martin.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: But like Martin, the TV show, he played so many characters on the show.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: I can imagine.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: I can imagine.
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: He played.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: At least ten characters on that show.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: Men, women, kids, white men, old men.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: Like he was f he was all over that show.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: And so a movie that finally let him also do that.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: Was like, bet, this is the Martin we know and love.
- 22:16SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: And you may not know this, or maybe you do after you did research, but maybe not when you watched it.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: Big Mama was a character that became popular in a movie called Soul Food.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: I didn't know that.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so Big Mama was a character in a movie called Soul Food that had Vivica Fox, Nia Long, Vanessa Williams.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: That movie was a drama.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: That's not a comedy.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: But Big Mama was like the matriarch of the family.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: She was like the, you know, always cooking the high diabetes food.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: Uh the soul food on Sunday.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: She, you know, going to church.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: She's the grandma.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: She's Big Mama.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: Uh so that was a very big movie in the black community, especially.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: Uh and Big Mama was just like, it's just like a matriarchal figure that any black person is gonna know what that means.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: So that's what Big Mama is.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: Like it's a it's a parody on the Soul Food character, Big Mama.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: I had no idea.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: Which, like, if you look up Big Mama Soul Food, you will see they look very similar uh to a degree.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: So when this movie came out, not only is it the return of Martin, not only is it like uh I don't know if they look similar.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: I don't know how I mean when I say similar, I mean like she's you know, a little chunky.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: The the the hat.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: I kind of know the grandma look.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: The old grandma look.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: Like, again, this is a parody, so they made her look crazy on this.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: But it was really cool.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: We were like, I'm in, I'm all the way in.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:55SPEAKER_03: Like I I just remember absolutely loving this movie and seeing it so many times when it came out.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:02SPEAKER_03: And like I used to I remember like I would go and rent from Blockbuster this blue streak, this blue streak, like all the time.
- 24:09SPEAKER_03: Uh-huh.
- 24:09SPEAKER_03: Constantly.
- 24:10SPEAKER_03: And it was just like me and my friends would just like just quote them all the time.
- 24:14SPEAKER_03: I haven't seen it in so many years, and I don't know why I didn't want to go back and watch it.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:18SPEAKER_03: But it's just like it really, it still holds up.
- 24:20SPEAKER_03: It still holds up.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: I I just recently rewatched it maybe sometime in this year.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: I just recently re-watched it.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, going through a breakup, and I was like, I just need to watch the funny shit.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: Uh and so, and like I I hadn't seen it in maybe like four or five years, so it hadn't been that long.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: But like I was just like, this is still funny.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: This is still funny.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: It's I think I was crying tears.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm a potty humor person.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: So the part where she real big mama in the mouth is in the bathroom.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: He's hiding in the shower.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: And she has to take a shit.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: It's just and she just doing all the Oh my Jesus! She is blowing that toilet up and Martin's in the shower dying.
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: It's so funny.
- 25:18SPEAKER_03: So good.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: So funny.
- 25:21SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 25:21SPEAKER_03: I don't know why this movie is like so low-rated.
- 25:25SPEAKER_03: Like again, it's not like a it's not like it's a bad movie.
- 25:28SPEAKER_03: It's not.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: I wonder if people were offended by it.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: Like, I wonder if people were.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: I do want I was surprised when this was on the list as a low-rated movie.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: I don't not that I think it was gonna be like, you know, a high, high rate, but I was like, 30 something percent is wild.
- 25:47SPEAKER_00: It's wild, isn't it?
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: I wonder you know, I'm sure you know this.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: You you've you've done this show a lot, I'm sure.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: So you've seen all the critics.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: Like, critics are whack.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: They are, yeah, they're whacking.
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, all the Martin personal issues, uh Also Eddie Murphy with the Nighty Professor, and that movie was highly rated.
- 26:12SPEAKER_03: And so I'm that's so loved.
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: That's so loved, and I'm sure a lot of people thought this movie was completely random.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: It was just like, oh, Martin just wants to do a fat person like Eddie did.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:26SPEAKER_03: I feel like also this came out the same year as Night Professor 2.
- 26:30SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: So they were probably like, he's just trying to rip off, get that Eddie, he's trying to come back and do it in the lowest brow way possible, not knowing that, like, no, he's actually parrying like Soul Food, like I said, and like her name in that movie was Big Mama.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: Like, that was her name in the movie.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: And and so I think like a lot of those things, people just watched it.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: And Martin, like, was he so funny at this movie, but you can tell to a degree, he like started to like lose his step a little bit.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: Like, but he was sick, you know.
- 27:04SPEAKER_03: He's in a coma for I was about to say, he he fell into a coma for three days filming this because it was so hot in the suit.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he he was he was struggling.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: So like that that's yeah.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: You know, but I think a lot of that probably has to do with it.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: But I'm also surprised by the audience score.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: That surprises me even more.
- 27:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and that's like 250,000 plus reviews, it says.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: Man.
- 27:25SPEAKER_03: Which is crazy.
- 27:26SPEAKER_03: Like this is yeah, it's got 80, 80 critics reviews, which is not that much, actually.
- 27:30SPEAKER_03: It's not that much.
- 27:31SPEAKER_03: Uh but they're all like they're all like one and two-star.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:34SPEAKER_03: What are some what are what are they what are like some of the bylines where like this this two-star review says funny Martin Lawrence and drag with potty jokes.
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but that's not two stars.
- 27:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that don't sound like a two-star review.
- 27:47SPEAKER_03: Uh there's a one-star review, which is just not there's nothing in it.
- 27:51SPEAKER_03: It just says one star.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: It's just one star.
- 27:53SPEAKER_03: Um two out of four, Big Mama's house seldom finds anything funny for Lawrence to do in drag.
- 27:58SPEAKER_03: Lawrence doesn't do anything.
- 28:00SPEAKER_03: Are these some of the audience?
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: Are these some of the critics?
- 28:03SPEAKER_03: You want to see the audience ones?
- 28:04SPEAKER_00: It's so funny, too, this concept of him in drag.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: Like, he's not in drag.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: Drag is a very specific thing.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: He's not in dragon.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: He's not doing drag.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: Uh he's playing a character.
- 28:20SPEAKER_00: He's playing a character.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: Like, he's playing a character.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: Sketch comedy has had people cross-dressing for years.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: That's not a new concept.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: So I think people put it on the so Martin just wanted to do drag, huh?
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: Like, it's so crazy, too.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: He's playing a character.
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: That in the movie is a part of the movie story.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: It's not like he's just like the movie starts as him as Big Mama.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: Like, he is actually playing a person who knows he's in costume to go undercover as a cop.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: So like he's not in drag.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: That's not a thing.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: It's so funny.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: It's so funny to me.
- 29:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's so true.
- 29:05SPEAKER_03: Like, he uh yeah, can you imagine being the woman that he plays as well, though?
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: Hattie Mae Pierce.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: Hattie Mae Pierce.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: If I if I was that woman and I was like, ooh, I'm in the movie, and then like Martin came out in a movie in the suit that's supposed to look like me and look like that, I was like, man, fuck y'all, man.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: Fuck y'all.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: I don't look like that.
- 29:29SPEAKER_03: And she really doesn't.
- 29:30SPEAKER_03: She doesn't.
- 29:31SPEAKER_03: It's a really look, it's a really good thing.
- 29:34SPEAKER_00: Nothing alike.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: It's so funny to me.
- 29:39SPEAKER_03: They're standing next to each other with people like, what?
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: What?
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: Two big mamas?
- 29:44SPEAKER_01: I was like, you can't tell the difference between these two people.
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: He's got these giant eyes.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: These eyes are so big in the movie, and her eyes are so small.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: It's so funny.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: It's so funny how much they don't look alike outside of just being fat.
- 30:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: Like, which is so silly.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's so great.
- 30:04SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: It's like this movie also had like a really good cast.
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: It had uh Paul Giamani.
- 30:09SPEAKER_03: Paul Giamatti is like also who looks 50 in the movie.
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: I looked it up.
- 30:13SPEAKER_00: He's like 32.
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: He's like 30, yeah.
- 30:15SPEAKER_00: Paul Giamatti've been looking old for since he was 21 years old.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, with the receding hairline.
- 30:21SPEAKER_00: Nia Long, who every black child had a brush on.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: I'm sure every child of all races, but like again, I know her from Fresh Prince originally.
- 30:31SPEAKER_03: That's where I knew her from.
- 30:32SPEAKER_03: And then like yeah.
- 30:33SPEAKER_03: So I knew who I she was the one that I knew already.
- 30:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she was the stuff.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: She yeah, she she was Nia Long was heat big at this point to me.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: Like she was all over, she was on Friday.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Friday.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: You know, a lot of a lot of movies.
- 30:45SPEAKER_00: Nia Long was was an A-lister in the comedy world for sure.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: Um Anthony Anderson.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: Anthony Anderson was one of his first movies.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: Uh but like Terrence Howard.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 30:57SPEAKER_03: Terrence Howard.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: Who's the villain?
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, crazy.
- 31:01SPEAKER_03: Crazy villain, yeah.
- 31:02SPEAKER_03: Crazy villain.
- 31:03SPEAKER_03: It's crazy, he's in it.
- 31:04SPEAKER_03: Like, and he's like so he plays it so serious.
- 31:08SPEAKER_03: He does 100%.
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: He he he is 100% the villain in this movie.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: Grefy in this movie.
- 31:14SPEAKER_00: He is.
- 31:14SPEAKER_00: I love it, too.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's great.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 31:16SPEAKER_00: He's menacing.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: He shoots Big Mama at the end.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: Like, or who he thinks is Big Mama, which is crazy, dog.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: Like, don't shoot grandma.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: No.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: Like, that's evil.
- 31:28SPEAKER_00: That's evil.
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: I shoot everybody, but like, you know, like thugs and gangsters and shit.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: There's a cold.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: And it's like, come on, man.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: You don't shoot Big Mama.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: Bro, that's that's how you know he was like really evil.
- 31:42SPEAKER_03: Well, there's a great scene in this where he goes to get the gun.
- 31:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:46SPEAKER_03: And he um the guy goes,$200.
- 31:48SPEAKER_03: And he goes, I was told it was$100.
- 31:50SPEAKER_03: And he goes, like, the guy's like, no, it's$200 now.
- 31:52SPEAKER_03: And he like holds the gun to him.
- 31:54SPEAKER_03: And he goes, go on, do it.
- 31:56SPEAKER_03: Shoot me.
- 31:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:57SPEAKER_03: And the guy goes,$100's fine.
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: $100's fine.
- 32:00SPEAKER_00: Which is so wild.
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 32:02SPEAKER_00: I forgot about that moment.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: He like, the dude who holds the gun is the dude who's saying, I want$200.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: Terrence Howard has no weapon.
- 32:10SPEAKER_00: Nothing on him.
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: And he just like looks menacingly at him, is like, do it.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: Shoot me.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: And the dude is like, oh, god damn, this is crazy.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: It's like, Hunter's fine, bro.
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: Hunter.
- 32:22SPEAKER_00: Go ahead.
- 32:23SPEAKER_00: Go ahead, man.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: Go ahead.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: Bullet might bounce off your head and hit me.
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: Like how crazy you are.
- 32:29SPEAKER_00: So funny.
- 32:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: But yeah, just a good cast, too.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: Great cast.
- 32:33SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to see who else is in it.
- 32:35SPEAKER_03: The kid in it was also like in a he was in another Will Smith movie right before this was Enemy of the State.
- 32:42SPEAKER_03: He was the kid in Enemy of the State.
- 32:44SPEAKER_03: I love Enemy of the State.
- 32:45SPEAKER_00: It's great, yeah.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: Enemy of the State is one of my favorite movies.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: Super underrated.
- 32:49SPEAKER_00: Very underrated, yeah.
- 32:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: Him and Gene Hackman.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: Lisa Bonnet, really good.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: Regina King, such a good movie.
- 32:55SPEAKER_00: Oh wow, that's a great cast.
- 32:56SPEAKER_00: Such a great cast.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: Enemy of the State was great.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: I could go watch that.
- 33:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I haven't seen that in a long time.
- 33:01SPEAKER_00: We've seen that in a minute.
- 33:03SPEAKER_00: But yeah, he was.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: He was Will Smith's kid in that movie.
- 33:06SPEAKER_03: He's like, he's only done stuff as a kid and he like never acted again after he was a kid.
- 33:10SPEAKER_03: So it's like.
- 33:11SPEAKER_03: This man was like, yo, man, I I worked with the legends.
- 33:13SPEAKER_00: Where else can I go from here?
- 33:15SPEAKER_00: Where can I go?
- 33:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: This movie.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 33:19SPEAKER_03: Octavia Spencer.
- 33:20SPEAKER_00: His name is Spencer.
- 33:21SPEAKER_03: Octavia Spencer's in this movie.
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: Octavia Spencer is in this movie.
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Like two lines.
- 33:25SPEAKER_01: She is.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: She delivers uh the baby.
- 33:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 33:31SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 33:32SPEAKER_02: Also, uh Toshina Arnold, who was Pam on the Martin TV show.
- 33:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 33:38SPEAKER_00: I love Martin and Tishina Arnold have done a couple movies together.
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: And it's so cool.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: If you don't, if you haven't watched Martin, like the Martin character and the Pam character who's played by Toshina Arnold hate each other.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: Like they're always roasting each other, ragging on each other.
- 33:54SPEAKER_00: Like they are adversary.
- 33:56SPEAKER_03: It's like the only clips I've seen is just Pam.
- 33:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it's so funny.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: Like they both are going at each other.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: And then everything they've done after that together, they always play like the closest.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: Like they play married before.
- 34:07SPEAKER_00: It's so funny.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: Like, which is so funny, and I love that so much.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: Uh, because like their characters on the TV show were so adversarial to each other.
- 34:17SPEAKER_03: Even before that, weren't they in house party together?
- 34:22SPEAKER_00: Uh no, she that was uh that was Tisha Campbell.
- 34:25SPEAKER_03: Tisha Campbell's in the Gina Campbell's in house party.
- 34:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but she's in Martin as well.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: She's in Martin.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: She plays Gina and Martin, who's Martin's love, love interest.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: And Toshina and Toshina Arnold and Tisha Campbell both were doo-waff girls on Little Shop of Horrors.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm not sure.
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: So like all the like Mix and Max is so connected, yeah.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: And they still do stuff together, I think.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: They do, yeah.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: I think they all still do.
- 34:48SPEAKER_00: Martin and and Tisha Campbell haven't done much together.
- 34:52SPEAKER_00: Uh but Martin has done stuff with or uh Toshina Arno has done stuff with both of them.
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:59SPEAKER_00: Like since since then.
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: Love it.
- 35:02SPEAKER_03: That's great.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: Love it.
- 35:03SPEAKER_03: I don't know the the so the director.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: Who directed?
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know.
- 35:07SPEAKER_03: It's this guy called Roger Gosnell.
- 35:10SPEAKER_03: He's directed.
- 35:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: I'm sure he hasn't directed much after or before.
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: I mean, well, as far as like big name movies.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: Well, wait for this.
- 35:18SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 35:19SPEAKER_03: He was an editor before.
- 35:20SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: He edited Home Alone.
- 35:22SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 35:23SPEAKER_03: Pretty woman.
- 35:24SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 35:24SPEAKER_03: And wait for it.
- 35:26SPEAKER_03: Mrs.
- 35:26SPEAKER_03: Delfire.
- 35:28SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 35:29SPEAKER_03: That's how he said that's a good idea.
- 35:30SPEAKER_03: That's why he was just like, all right.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: I Jake's in the home.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: Ne alone, pretty woman.
- 35:36SPEAKER_00: And man in a fat suit.
- 35:39SPEAKER_00: I got an idea.
- 35:41SPEAKER_07: I got an idea.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: Mrs.
- 35:45SPEAKER_00: Delphire is one of my favorite movies of all time.
- 35:48SPEAKER_00: I love Mrs.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: It's so good.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: I I think that's I think that probably is what had what was going against us critic-wise.
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 35:58SPEAKER_00: Because like you have Robin Williams and Mrs.
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: Delfire, which is just like obviously funny.
- 36:06SPEAKER_00: You have The Nutty Professor with Eddie, which is obviously fire.
- 36:12SPEAKER_00: And then this movie comes out.
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: The difference between those movies, especially Mrs.
- 36:16SPEAKER_00: Dalfire, is while those movies were silly in their concept and like the characters were silly, they were a little more grounded.
- 36:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:26SPEAKER_04: That's as crazy as that sounds.
- 36:28SPEAKER_00: Even Nutty Professor, as crazy as that sounds, is a little more grounded than what this movie is.
- 36:35SPEAKER_00: It truly is.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: Because the the concept of this movie is insane.
- 36:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 36:39SPEAKER_00: Like Big Mama, who's this character, who's this person in this neighborhood who's so loved.
- 36:47SPEAKER_00: Everybody knows her.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: She's in church.
- 36:49SPEAKER_00: She's a pillar of the community.
- 36:51SPEAKER_00: Everyone knows her so well.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: So well.
- 36:54SPEAKER_00: And this person who looks nothing like her comes to take over her life, and nobody knows.
- 36:59SPEAKER_00: Nobody can tell.
- 37:01SPEAKER_00: Anything like uh doesn't look anything like the suspension of disbelief in this movie is is high.
- 37:09SPEAKER_00: It's very fucking high.
- 37:11SPEAKER_00: So, like, not that that should be working against it, but I think people just didn't buy in.
- 37:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:16SPEAKER_00: Like they had to not have bought in.
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: Uh but you have to suspend your disbelief for this kind of movie.
- 37:21SPEAKER_03: It's like, well, just just just enjoy it for what it is.
- 37:24SPEAKER_03: Like this is what annoys me about like broad comedies, people really rag on them and they just like do not like these it's a high concept broad comedy, and like people really don't like that.
- 37:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:35SPEAKER_03: It's it they never get reviewed well.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, yeah, I that's very true.
- 37:41SPEAKER_00: And it's disappointing because you know, you don't get too many mainstream comedies that are coming out like that anymore.
- 37:50SPEAKER_03: You don't get, yeah.
- 37:51SPEAKER_03: It's very rare, especially in the days of like now it's in the streaming age, but you're not getting the mid-budget uh comedy.
- 37:59SPEAKER_03: You just don't get it.
- 38:00SPEAKER_03: Unless unless it's going straight to Netflix or something like that.
- 38:03SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 38:04SPEAKER_03: But they come and go so quickly and people forget about them.
- 38:07SPEAKER_03: I d uh it's I haven't seen so many of them that have come out on Netflix.
- 38:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: I don't know why like is is is is disappointing, like because like you need these type of comedies to survive in a comedy world, right?
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: And and you need comedies that don't take themselves seriously.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: And not saying this movie doesn't take itself seriously, I think it does uh as much as it needs to.
- 38:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 38:33SPEAKER_00: Um but like, you know, like Eddie doing like again, I hate to keep bringing this up, and even like Robin Williams doing uh Mrs.
- 38:42SPEAKER_02: Dalfire and Eddie doing all the Nutty Professor characters, um was slightly different than Martin doing it because Martin felt the Big Mama character felt like he's putting on this with Oh, honey, oh you look oh come tell Big Mama what you need, baby.
- 39:04SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 39:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 39:06SPEAKER_00: And it's so ridiculous.
- 39:09SPEAKER_00: Versus like Mrs.
- 39:10SPEAKER_00: Delphire, he had to like he like Vladimir Williams is like you know, a fucking genius.
- 39:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 39:17SPEAKER_00: Uh was a genius.
- 39:18SPEAKER_00: And so like he's playing it like, you know, you believe he's Mrs.
- 39:23SPEAKER_00: Delfire.
- 39:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like you believe Eddie is Sherman Klump and all them other characters.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: Like you don't believe Martin is Big Mama, right?
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: But I think that was the point of the movie.
- 39:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I agree, yeah.
- 39:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think that's the point of the movie is like yeah, of course he's not.
- 39:40SPEAKER_00: Like he I don't know.
- 39:41SPEAKER_00: It was very weird.
- 39:42SPEAKER_00: It's very weird that people didn't get that.
- 39:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:44SPEAKER_03: I think the closest to this where you're like they're playing people but you don't believe it, is white chicks.
- 39:53SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: And listen.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 39:57SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing.
- 39:58SPEAKER_00: For audience members who are watching this movie now, maybe they will have the same feeling that I had watching white chicks.
- 40:06SPEAKER_00: I had never seen white chicks.
- 40:07SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: Never saw it.
- 40:09SPEAKER_00: It just and I was not, I was a fan of the Wayne's Brothers.
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: I watched all the scary movies, the TV show, all that.
- 40:15SPEAKER_00: I had never seen white chicks.
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: I literally just watched it maybe a month ago.
- 40:19SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 40:20SPEAKER_00: Five, six weeks ago.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: Uh, nostalgia is doing a lot of heavy lifting for that movie.
- 40:25SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 40:26SPEAKER_00: It is that movie is not good.
- 40:29SPEAKER_03: I I I rewatched it for this, like a few years back.
- 40:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:33SPEAKER_03: It does not hold up.
- 40:35SPEAKER_00: It does not hold up.
- 40:36SPEAKER_00: It does not.
- 40:38SPEAKER_03: Held together by Terry Cruz, it does not hold up.
- 40:41SPEAKER_00: It is a bad movie, is way more offensive than this movie.
- 40:47SPEAKER_00: And I don't care about being offended in comedy, but like, I'm just like, this is bad.
- 40:52SPEAKER_00: Uh they are bad in it.
- 40:55SPEAKER_00: Like, they're not, like, if you think Martin ain't believable and you like white chicks, you crazy.
- 41:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:04SPEAKER_00: And they look awful.
- 41:07SPEAKER_00: They look so bad.
- 41:08SPEAKER_00: They look off.
- 41:09SPEAKER_00: They look, if if two white, and listen, I love, I love me some white women.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: Love a white woman.
- 41:16SPEAKER_00: If two white women walked in the door looking like that, I would be terrified.
- 41:22SPEAKER_00: I would be terrified.
- 41:23SPEAKER_01: I'd be like, who the fuck are these aliens walking in here like these?
- 41:28SPEAKER_00: They look so bad in that movie.
- 41:31SPEAKER_00: They don't look like human beings.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: They look like if they look they look like if one person draws uh a white woman from memory and then gives that picture to somebody, and then they see it, and then they close their eyes and they draw it from memory, and we get to the 15th person who is drawn that's what they look like.
- 41:54SPEAKER_03: That's exactly the movie.
- 41:58SPEAKER_00: They look crazy in that movie.
- 42:00SPEAKER_00: I was like, this movie is ass cheeks.
- 42:03SPEAKER_00: Um, it's bad.
- 42:04SPEAKER_00: It's bad.
- 42:06SPEAKER_00: This Big Mama House is not that.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: This is a classic compared to that.
- 42:10SPEAKER_00: It's not that.
- 42:11SPEAKER_00: But I would do wonder if people are watching this and just being like, it is still of the time.
- 42:15SPEAKER_00: Because they don't make movies like that anymore.
- 42:16SPEAKER_00: They don't.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they don't.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: I can't think of the last one.
- 42:20SPEAKER_03: Maybe it was White Chicks.
- 42:21SPEAKER_03: Like, I can't think of the last one.
- 42:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:23SPEAKER_00: I mean, well, Big Mama has some sequels, which were not great.
- 42:26SPEAKER_00: I've not seen the sequels.
- 42:27SPEAKER_00: Big Mama Three is bad.
- 42:29SPEAKER_00: I heard two is bad.
- 42:30SPEAKER_00: Big Big Mama Two is also bad, but I enjoy it.
- 42:34SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 42:34SPEAKER_00: Because, like, you know, I'll just pop an edible, I'll get high, and I'll just be like, I just want to watch a stupid comedy.
- 42:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:39SPEAKER_00: Uh I think Big Mama One has a little bit more heart.
- 42:44SPEAKER_00: Uh, and it's still grounded in that 90s comedy reality versus those 2000s comedies where they was everything was just supposed to be shiny.
- 42:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: HD was new.
- 42:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, that look is horrible.
- 42:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that look is so fucking bad.
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: And, you know, technology was starting to boom and things like that.
- 43:05SPEAKER_00: And, you know, that mo that movie suffers from that era.
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: Uh, but I still enjoy it as a watch.
- 43:11SPEAKER_00: But it's not a good movie.
- 43:13SPEAKER_00: I can admit that.
- 43:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: And then three is bad.
- 43:16SPEAKER_00: Three is bad.
- 43:17SPEAKER_00: Three is with uh Brandon T.
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: Jackson, isn't it?
- 43:19SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 43:20SPEAKER_00: And he and with who plays the son.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: The sun, but nealong doesn't come back.
- 43:24SPEAKER_00: Nealong doesn't come back.
- 43:26SPEAKER_00: Uh and the son now is one an aspi uh an aspiring cop, and he plays Big Mama.
- 43:33SPEAKER_00: He plays Big Mama.
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: He he plays like a version of Big Mama.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: Uh and so they have to go be Big Mama together.
- 43:41SPEAKER_00: It's such a bad movie.
- 43:43SPEAKER_00: It's very terrible.
- 43:45SPEAKER_00: Um, and I you couldn't pay me to watch it again.
- 43:48SPEAKER_03: It's also like 11 years after the this one.
- 43:51SPEAKER_00: That too.
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: Nobody was really asking.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: Nobody was that's that that is the crazy part though.
- 43:57SPEAKER_00: Like, even back then.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: And they weren't just making sequels for movies that weren't successful.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: And this movie has three.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: Like, this movie has three in the in the can.
- 44:07SPEAKER_00: Well, do you know how much the first one made?
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: It had to make over a hundred million dollars.
- 44:12SPEAKER_03: It's it's crazy.
- 44:13SPEAKER_03: Let me pull this up.
- 44:13SPEAKER_03: It had to do well.
- 44:14SPEAKER_03: The budget is 30.
- 44:16SPEAKER_03: It made 173.
- 44:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:19SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: The budget, it had, yeah.
- 44:21SPEAKER_00: The movie, like everybody was seeing the the reviews and shit, and then the money came in.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: They was like, man, run that shit back.
- 44:28SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 44:30SPEAKER_00: Run it back.
- 44:31SPEAKER_00: Please.
- 44:32SPEAKER_02: Run it back.
- 44:33SPEAKER_02: But then that movie made it made like eight times the amount of money it like it the budget was.
- 44:39SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to find, I'm trying to find what the sequel made, because I need to see like why they made the third.
- 44:44SPEAKER_03: The sequel also did well.
- 44:46SPEAKER_03: The sequel did well.
- 44:48SPEAKER_03: Six years after.
- 44:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:50SPEAKER_02: Because I think people like I think this that's why I'm really surprised by the audience score.
- 44:55SPEAKER_00: Because when the movie came out, people may not have been into it, but people went to go watch it and was like, Martin's back.
- 45:01SPEAKER_00: I like it.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: 40 million budget, 141 worldwide.
- 45:05SPEAKER_03: Of course.
- 45:07SPEAKER_03: That's why they made three.
- 45:08SPEAKER_02: That's why they made three.
- 45:09SPEAKER_00: I'm sure three three's gonna be a flop.
- 45:11SPEAKER_00: Three probably didn't do three made a profit.
- 45:14SPEAKER_00: Three made a profit.
- 45:14SPEAKER_00: You're right.
- 45:15SPEAKER_00: But I I'm almost positive three made a profit, but I'm sure it didn't make as much of a profit.
- 45:20SPEAKER_03: Okay, still very good.
- 45:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:23SPEAKER_03: 32 budget, 82 worldwide.
- 45:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that still makes a profit.
- 45:26SPEAKER_00: That's a profit.
- 45:27SPEAKER_00: That's a profit.
- 45:29SPEAKER_03: That's great.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: I had no idea they still made so much money after the first one.
- 45:33SPEAKER_03: The first one made bank.
- 45:34SPEAKER_00: First one crazy.
- 45:35SPEAKER_00: That the we were in the theaters watching that first one.
- 45:38SPEAKER_03: It would have been if I was old enough.
- 45:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:40SPEAKER_00: And then the second one comes out, you're like, all right, bet.
- 45:43SPEAKER_00: Let's go see it.
- 45:44SPEAKER_00: And then the second one wasn't that great, so you know.
- 45:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:47SPEAKER_00: But it still made money.
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: It still made money.
- 45:51SPEAKER_03: The funniest thing as well is like they filmed this.
- 45:53SPEAKER_03: So they've it's trying to it's supposed to be Georgia.
- 45:55SPEAKER_03: They filmed it all in California.
- 45:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, you can tell.
- 45:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 45:58SPEAKER_00: You can really tell you.
- 45:59SPEAKER_00: You can tell.
- 45:59SPEAKER_00: That's not Georgia.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: That's not Georgia at all.
- 46:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: Sunny California streets and roads and shit.
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: Uh yeah.
- 46:08SPEAKER_00: I I I would love to be on a set like this.
- 46:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:11SPEAKER_00: I would love to be on a set like this with somebody who has to, you know, especially growing up, watching Martin.
- 46:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:18SPEAKER_00: When he transforms to another character.
- 46:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:21SPEAKER_00: Uh, you know, and like you get you be basically are talking to two different people.
- 46:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:26SPEAKER_00: Uh, which I'm sure could be would be really fun.
- 46:29SPEAKER_03: That'd be so much fun.
- 46:29SPEAKER_03: Have you have you ever worked with him or like people that have been around him or anything?
- 46:33SPEAKER_00: I've worked with people that have been around him.
- 46:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I've not worked with him.
- 46:36SPEAKER_00: I I did see him live a couple years ago.
- 46:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:39SPEAKER_00: Uh, which was really fun.
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: Like for me, just nostalgia-wise.
- 46:43SPEAKER_00: Um, but no, I've worked with people that have worked with him, and you know, he's an OG.
- 46:50SPEAKER_00: Of course he is.
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: He's an OG.
- 46:52SPEAKER_00: He's he's he's an icon in a community.
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: He's an icon just in church.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: Like Martin.
- 46:57SPEAKER_00: Martin, I do I don't think gets his flowers.
- 46:59SPEAKER_00: He doesn't.
- 47:00SPEAKER_00: He doesn't get his flowers.
- 47:01SPEAKER_00: Like Martin has Martin has one been around since the 80s.
- 47:05SPEAKER_00: Exactly, yeah.
- 47:06SPEAKER_00: Um and he's done everything that a comedian could possibly.
- 47:11SPEAKER_00: He's had the hit movies, he had the hit TV show, he had the specials, he's had the controversy, he's had the comebacks.
- 47:21SPEAKER_00: He's he's been banned from SNL.
- 47:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:24SPEAKER_00: He's been banned from SNL.
- 47:25SPEAKER_00: It's like he's done everything that a comedian could possibly want to do.
- 47:30SPEAKER_00: Like, he doesn't get the flower.
- 47:32SPEAKER_00: And he's had and he's had a long career doing it.
- 47:34SPEAKER_00: So long, yeah.
- 47:35SPEAKER_00: He's been doing it for 30, 40 years.
- 47:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:38SPEAKER_03: And and he and what was the last thing I saw him in?
- 47:41SPEAKER_03: It would have been in the probably bad boys.
- 47:44SPEAKER_03: The new Bad Boys one.
- 47:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:45SPEAKER_03: Lost.
- 47:46SPEAKER_00: Bad Boys 4.
- 47:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah, wow.
- 47:48SPEAKER_03: It was only like a year and a half ago.
- 47:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:50SPEAKER_00: And I love, listen, you put Martin and Will back together.
- 47:54SPEAKER_00: I'm a theater.
- 47:55SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna be in a theater watching NDP.
- 47:56SPEAKER_03: Oh, I watched them.
- 47:57SPEAKER_00: I watched the last two.
- 47:58SPEAKER_00: I was like so happy.
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: 100.
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: I don't care how good or bad they are, I'm in there.
- 48:01SPEAKER_00: I'm watching it.
- 48:01SPEAKER_00: Just them together is gonna be.
- 48:03SPEAKER_00: I still love them.
- 48:04SPEAKER_00: I still love all of them.
- 48:05SPEAKER_00: Bad Boys One is another movie that dare I say is underrated for how good it is.
- 48:12SPEAKER_00: It's genuinely.
- 48:14SPEAKER_00: It is so fucking good and it's so and it's like gritty good.
- 48:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 48:18SPEAKER_00: Because like Bad Boys Two, which I also love.
- 48:21SPEAKER_00: I love Bad Boys Two.
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: Is a different feel of a movie.
- 48:25SPEAKER_03: Definitely a different feel.
- 48:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a different feel.
- 48:28SPEAKER_00: Bad Boys 1 has like a gritty 90s crime like feel to it.
- 48:34SPEAKER_00: Uh, but like just Martin and Will just improvising their way through that fucking movie.
- 48:40SPEAKER_03: Both at like right about to hit their peak.
- 48:43SPEAKER_00: Man.
- 48:44SPEAKER_00: I mean, yeah, Will is about to like become a Mario star.
- 48:48SPEAKER_00: Because Martin was first built in that movie.
- 48:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 48:52SPEAKER_00: Like, that was Martin's movie.
- 48:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 48:53SPEAKER_00: And Will was Will was uh Will they wanted, I don't know if you know this, they wanted Eddie.
- 49:00SPEAKER_00: I didn't know that.
- 49:00SPEAKER_00: They did, and they wanted Eddie Murphy.
- 49:02SPEAKER_00: Eddie and Martin.
- 49:03SPEAKER_00: Well, first, the movie was originally Dana Carvey and John Lovitz.
- 49:07SPEAKER_00: Uh that's insane.
- 49:09SPEAKER_00: Which sounds awful.
- 49:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that would that would not be.
- 49:11SPEAKER_00: And then it didn't it I it didn't work out for some reason.
- 49:14SPEAKER_00: And then the movie I wonder why.
- 49:17SPEAKER_00: And then they pivoted and they attached Martin to it, who at the time was a bigger star than Will Smith, surprisingly.
- 49:25SPEAKER_00: Um because Martin had been in movies, he had been, you know.
- 49:29SPEAKER_03: I remember him in well, not I don't remember him in it, but I'd see because I'd see it sort of years later, but he's in do the right thing.
- 49:34SPEAKER_03: He's in do the right thing, he's in Boomerang.
- 49:37SPEAKER_00: He's a great scene and do the right thing.
- 49:38SPEAKER_00: He's in House Party, yeah.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: His TV show is a hit, like he has the special that come out.
- 49:43SPEAKER_00: Martin was a star.
- 49:44SPEAKER_00: He was a star at that point.
- 49:45SPEAKER_00: He was a star at that point.
- 49:46SPEAKER_03: And that's not to say Will Smith wasn't a star.
- 49:48SPEAKER_03: He wasn't.
- 49:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:49SPEAKER_00: He because Will was also a star.
- 49:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but he was ascendant in the movie world.
- 49:54SPEAKER_00: He he wasn't a proven commodity in a movie world.
- 49:57SPEAKER_00: No.
- 49:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:58SPEAKER_00: Uh but Martin was first attached, and then they wanted Martin and Eddie.
- 50:02SPEAKER_00: That would have still been great.
- 50:03SPEAKER_00: That would have still been fantastic.
- 50:05SPEAKER_00: But then Martin Lawrence's sister uh was like, what about Will?
- 50:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:10SPEAKER_00: And he was like, huh.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: And so he called Will over.
- 50:13SPEAKER_00: They've told the story.
- 50:14SPEAKER_00: He called Will over, he called Will over, and uh they had a talk, and then Martin was like, It's Will.
- 50:22SPEAKER_00: And they were like, But Eddie.
- 50:27SPEAKER_00: Like, I mean, yeah, Will's cool, you know, but Eddie.
- 50:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 50:31SPEAKER_00: And Martin was like, it's either Will or I don't do it.
- 50:34SPEAKER_00: And so they they attached Will to it, and it was crazy.
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: But then they gave them that original script.
- 50:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:40SPEAKER_00: And they were both like, what the fuck is this?
- 50:43SPEAKER_00: And so that's why most of that movie dialogue between them and with them is improvised.
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: Uh, which is why it feels so natural that it feels so like written, it feels so well written.
- 50:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because they are actually writing it as the movie goes.
- 50:58SPEAKER_00: Such a good movie, man.
- 50:59SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's great.
- 51:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 51:00SPEAKER_03: And then you get to two, and it does take a tonal shift.
- 51:04SPEAKER_00: It takes a tonal shift, but that's the 2000 shift.
- 51:06SPEAKER_03: That's what I mean.
- 51:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's that's what it is.
- 51:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's what exactly what it is.
- 51:09SPEAKER_00: Michael Bay.
- 51:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:10SPEAKER_00: They're both Michael Bay, but it's like two different Michael Bay.
- 51:12SPEAKER_00: It's two different Michael Bay.
- 51:14SPEAKER_00: This is Transformers Michael Bay.
- 51:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:17SPEAKER_00: The first one is like Miami Vice Michael Bay.
- 51:19SPEAKER_00: This one, even though he didn't do that, but it got that kind of feel.
- 51:22SPEAKER_00: This one is Transformers Michael Bay.
- 51:28SPEAKER_00: Um I I love two as well.
- 51:30SPEAKER_00: Still very fucking funny, man.
- 51:32SPEAKER_00: Still funny.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: And you know, at this point, now they're both star.
- 51:35SPEAKER_00: You know, Will is.
- 51:36SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 51:36SPEAKER_00: Well, Will's at the Will is the top of the fucking shifu chain by that point.
- 51:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:40SPEAKER_00: And Martin is kind of making his comeback.
- 51:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:43SPEAKER_00: You know, like that's the movie that's a good thing.
- 51:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's like right after these.
- 51:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:46SPEAKER_00: That's right after this.
- 51:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:48SPEAKER_00: Uh so, but yeah, man, I love those movies.
- 51:51SPEAKER_00: But Martin was it, man.
- 51:53SPEAKER_00: Martin Martin was it.
- 51:54SPEAKER_03: 90s and 2000s, Martin was as big of a star as you can get.
- 51:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 51:58SPEAKER_03: I I also feel like he doesn't get enough credit in stand-up.
- 52:02SPEAKER_03: No.
- 52:03SPEAKER_03: He doesn't.
- 52:03SPEAKER_03: Like he doesn't.
- 52:04SPEAKER_03: I think he's so he is one of the greats.
- 52:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think so.
- 52:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:08SPEAKER_00: I think so.
- 52:09SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, you so crazy, like I said, was one of my favorite uh one of my favorite specials growing up.
- 52:17SPEAKER_00: And still some really funny jokes in it and some really funny bits.
- 52:22SPEAKER_00: And, you know, Martin was Martin was not only also Martin was the host of Def Comedy Jam.
- 52:27SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 52:27SPEAKER_00: Which was Which is iconic.
- 52:29SPEAKER_00: Has introduced Martin was the host of a show that introduced so many black comedians.
- 52:34SPEAKER_00: Introduced Bernie Mack, introduced Dave Chappelle, introduced Jamie Foxx, and like Martin was the host of that.
- 52:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 52:40SPEAKER_00: Like, and so Martin doesn't get the flowers he deserves for being what a lot of the comedians that we now, you know, know as icons in the in the business, they were all on his show.
- 52:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 52:53SPEAKER_00: They were all on his fucking show.
- 52:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 52:55SPEAKER_00: At the same time, he had a TV show off of his name.
- 53:00SPEAKER_00: Crazy.
- 53:00SPEAKER_00: And it's called Martin.
- 53:02SPEAKER_00: It's called Martin.
- 53:02SPEAKER_00: It's called like that's that's it.
- 53:04SPEAKER_00: It's just Martin.
- 53:05SPEAKER_00: You know, which was starting to happen, but like it was, you know, that was the turn of when like I was just thinking about this.
- 53:12SPEAKER_00: Comedians were doing shows and you just named it after them.
- 53:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah for a black comedian to have that.
- 53:18SPEAKER_00: It was unheard of.
- 53:19SPEAKER_00: The only one was Cosby.
- 53:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 53:21SPEAKER_00: Like that was the only one at that point.
- 53:23SPEAKER_00: You had a few of the white ones, Seinfeld, Roseanne, everything like that.
- 53:26SPEAKER_00: But like Martin came out in '92.
- 53:28unknown: Yeah.
- 53:29SPEAKER_00: And seemingly out of nowhere, but that's not that's not out of nowhere.
- 53:34SPEAKER_00: Like this dude was just like, this dude is this dude can lead a TV show.
- 53:38SPEAKER_00: He's the guy.
- 53:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 53:39SPEAKER_00: So I I will always give Martin his flowers.
- 53:43SPEAKER_00: Oh, for sure.
- 53:44SPEAKER_00: Uh, even his bad movies.
- 53:46SPEAKER_00: Like of which he's had many, but he's had a lot.
- 53:49SPEAKER_00: But I kind of put him in that Eddie, that Eddie realm.
- 53:52SPEAKER_00: Definitely, yeah.
- 53:52SPEAKER_00: Where like Eddie's had a lot of bad movies too, but I dare you not to at least watch one scene in that movie and laugh at him.
- 53:59SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, like Eddie's gonna make you laugh.
- 54:01SPEAKER_00: Eddie's gonna make you laugh.
- 54:02SPEAKER_00: Martin gonna make you laugh at some point.
- 54:04SPEAKER_03: It's never them that are the bad part of the movie as well.
- 54:07SPEAKER_03: That's that's what it always is.
- 54:08SPEAKER_03: It's never them.
- 54:09SPEAKER_03: It's the movie might be bad, but it's never them.
- 54:12SPEAKER_00: No, they they're they're you know, naturally fucking funny.
- 54:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 54:16SPEAKER_00: Um it comes to something like Norbit.
- 54:19SPEAKER_00: Norbit was oh, so bad.
- 54:21SPEAKER_00: Norbit's awful, but like Eddie made me laugh a couple times and like he made me laugh, but the movie is objectively terrible.
- 54:29SPEAKER_00: Uh but yeah, he you know, and Martin Haser Black Knight was a movie that came out for Martin Lawrence.
- 54:35SPEAKER_00: It was so not great.
- 54:36SPEAKER_03: No, I remember watching that because of him and being like, this is not good.
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: It's not good.
- 54:40SPEAKER_00: It's not good.
- 54:42SPEAKER_00: I still laughed a couple times.
- 54:43SPEAKER_01: Like he made me laugh a couple times.
- 54:46SPEAKER_00: So yeah, man, I'll I'll always give, which is why like I'll I'll beat the drum that Big Mama House uh deserves a watch.
- 54:54SPEAKER_00: And like go in and watch it without like the highfalutin', like, ugh, Martin and Dra doing bad drag.
- 55:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 55:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, making fun of fat people.
- 55:06SPEAKER_00: Like, I you know, like not saying those things aren't something we should think about, but like this is a very specific movie that came out that was based off of a very specific thing, which is the Big Mama trope.
- 55:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 55:18SPEAKER_00: Um, and I think he nailed it.
- 55:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 55:22SPEAKER_03: I think he nailed it as well.
- 55:23SPEAKER_03: And it's it's so good.
- 55:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 55:25SPEAKER_03: Like, I I can't get over like how much I was enjoying it watching it again.
- 55:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 55:30SPEAKER_03: Like I did not expect to like it as much as I did.
- 55:32SPEAKER_00: It's funny, man.
- 55:33SPEAKER_03: I was like, I'm gonna be fine.
- 55:34SPEAKER_00: I was laughing so much.
- 55:36SPEAKER_00: Him beating Anthony Anderson's ass.
- 55:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 55:40SPEAKER_00: Also, like, I mean, it's horny as shit, but like when Nia Long came in with her little lingerie on, he was like, Oh baby!
- 55:50SPEAKER_07: Oh, give me a hug.
- 55:52SPEAKER_02: Big mama, can I?
- 55:54SPEAKER_02: I'm scared of the lightning.
- 55:55SPEAKER_02: Can I sleep with you?
- 55:57SPEAKER_02: Is that a flashlight, Big Mama?
- 55:59SPEAKER_00: And then he pulls out, oh yeah.
- 56:03SPEAKER_00: And then like right at the scene ending.
- 56:05SPEAKER_00: Is that another?
- 56:11SPEAKER_00: It's so stupid.
- 56:13SPEAKER_00: Oh stupid.
- 56:14SPEAKER_00: It's so funny.
- 56:16SPEAKER_00: It's so horny for no reason.
- 56:21SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's ridiculous.
- 56:22SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 56:23SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 56:23SPEAKER_03: Um, okay.
- 56:24SPEAKER_03: Uh do you have anything else you want to talk about with in in terms of the movie, or do or should we move on to the the next bit?
- 56:30SPEAKER_00: Hey man, you know, like I said, just watch the movie.
- 56:32SPEAKER_00: I think it's funny.
- 56:33SPEAKER_00: I think I think that audience score, the critic score doesn't surprise me.
- 56:36SPEAKER_00: No, I'm not surprised, but I think.
- 56:37SPEAKER_00: Uh the audience score I think should be raised up a little bit.
- 56:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I thought the audience would be in like the 70s.
- 56:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 56:42SPEAKER_03: I really did.
- 56:43SPEAKER_03: I was so surprised.
- 56:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 56:45SPEAKER_00: But you know, don't even pay attention to that.
- 56:47SPEAKER_00: Like go watch it.
- 56:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 56:48SPEAKER_03: It's so much better.
- 56:49SPEAKER_03: It's yeah.
- 56:50SPEAKER_03: Watch it.
- 56:50SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 56:51SPEAKER_03: It's so much better than you think it's gonna, like then you remember it.
- 56:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 56:54SPEAKER_03: Um, okay, so let's move on to the next segment, which is a game that I've been trying recently, which is I told you about before, but it's it's called Movie 501.
- 57:02SPEAKER_03: I love this.
- 57:02SPEAKER_03: And you're it's a Rotten Tomato scores starting at 501 like darts, uh-huh.
- 57:09SPEAKER_03: And you're trying to get it down to zero in the least amount by naming the least amount of movies possible.
- 57:13SPEAKER_00: So you want to get the least amount of movies.
- 57:15SPEAKER_00: And like comedies or any movies.
- 57:16SPEAKER_00: So I I'm gonna give you comedies.
- 57:18SPEAKER_00: Okay, sweet.
- 57:20SPEAKER_00: I love this.
- 57:20SPEAKER_00: I I love a I love a handicap.
- 57:22SPEAKER_00: It is a handicap.
- 57:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 57:24SPEAKER_00: It is because comedies don't get rated high.
- 57:27SPEAKER_03: There are some there are some.
- 57:29SPEAKER_03: If you think if you think of a few.
- 57:31SPEAKER_03: If you think of a specific type of comedy, you'll you'll be on the right track.
- 57:34SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 57:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 57:36SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 57:36SPEAKER_00: Listen.
- 57:37SPEAKER_00: I I love this.
- 57:38SPEAKER_00: I can't wait.
- 57:38SPEAKER_00: I heard you told me Demi was the only one that Demi did it in nine.
- 57:42SPEAKER_00: He did it in nine, which is mad.
- 57:45SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 57:45SPEAKER_00: Oh shit.
- 57:46SPEAKER_00: I thought he probably would have done it in like 15.
- 57:49SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 57:50SPEAKER_03: No, he got it down quick, and then he I think he got it down in four.
- 57:54SPEAKER_00: Did he was he only comedies as well?
- 57:56SPEAKER_03: No, his was sports movies.
- 57:59SPEAKER_03: Because he did Space Jam.
- 58:01SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 58:02SPEAKER_00: So that's sports movies is hard.
- 58:04SPEAKER_03: Sports movies is hard.
- 58:05SPEAKER_00: That's hard.
- 58:06SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 58:06SPEAKER_03: That's harder than comedy.
- 58:07SPEAKER_03: And we can't go over.
- 58:08SPEAKER_00: We can't, like it has to come to zero.
- 58:11SPEAKER_03: If you go over, I give you a few.
- 58:13SPEAKER_03: Okay, no doubt.
- 58:14SPEAKER_03: No doubt.
- 58:14SPEAKER_03: Alright, bet.
- 58:15SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 58:16SPEAKER_00: Let's go.
- 58:17SPEAKER_00: I love this.
- 58:18SPEAKER_00: Alright.
- 58:18SPEAKER_00: Not only am I I'm trying to complete it, I'm trying to complete it in nine or less.
- 58:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 58:24SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 58:24SPEAKER_00: Alright.
- 58:25SPEAKER_00: If you want to if you want to beat Demi, yeah.
- 58:26SPEAKER_00: If I want to beat Demi.
- 58:28SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 58:28SPEAKER_00: I gotta get some high ones out there first.
- 58:31SPEAKER_00: Let's do for the first one.
- 58:35SPEAKER_05: Let's do Let's do Wedding Crashers.
- 58:40SPEAKER_05: Wedding Crashers is.
- 58:43SPEAKER_03: 75.
- 58:44SPEAKER_00: 75?
- 58:45SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 58:45SPEAKER_00: Alright.
- 58:47SPEAKER_00: So that brings us to 426.
- 58:49SPEAKER_00: 426.
- 58:50SPEAKER_00: Alright, I can get higher than that.
- 58:53SPEAKER_05: Let's do Let's do Beverly Hills Cop.
- 58:58SPEAKER_05: That's a great choice.
- 59:03SPEAKER_05: 83.
- 59:04SPEAKER_05: 83.
- 59:04SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 59:06SPEAKER_05: 343.
- 59:07SPEAKER_05: 343.
- 59:10SPEAKER_03: Um as like almost any identical tools and the audience.
- 59:19SPEAKER_00: And interesting.
- 59:20SPEAKER_03: Interesting.
- 59:20SPEAKER_03: 8383.
- 59:22SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 59:22SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 59:24SPEAKER_05: Let oh, comedies.
- 59:26SPEAKER_05: Um let's do what about Naked Gun.
- 59:35SPEAKER_05: Which one?
- 59:36SPEAKER_05: The new one or the old one?
- 59:39SPEAKER_05: Let's do the new one.
- 59:42SPEAKER_05: Yeah, let's do the new one.
- 59:44SPEAKER_03: 88?
- 59:45SPEAKER_00: Great.
- 59:46SPEAKER_03: Great.
- 59:47SPEAKER_03: That's more than I thought it was gonna be, but.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I knew it was pretty high.
- 59:51SPEAKER_03: I didn't expect 88.
- 59:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 59:53SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 59:53SPEAKER_03: That's 255, you're at.
- 59:55SPEAKER_03: 255.
- 59:56SPEAKER_03: You've only named three so far as well.
- 59:57SPEAKER_05: Three?
- 59:58SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_05: How about Liar Liar?
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_05: You are like pulling out classic.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_05: 83.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_00: 172.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_00: 172.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_00: 4.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_00: 172, and I'm doing four so far.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:00:20SPEAKER_03: This is once you get under a hundred, this is a good one.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_03: This gets hard.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_00: Let's do what what am I at again?
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_03: 172.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_00: 172.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_00: Let's do this does get this gets because I'm trying to like think of the movie.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_00: First I gotta think of a movie, and then I gotta like think of the how about comedy, comedy.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_05: Um God, I wouldn't have that that that wouldn't that was a cold classic.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_00: Oh man.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_00: I was thinking Anchorman, but I you know what?
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_00: Let's just say it.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_00: Let's say Anchorman.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_00: That'll probably be in the 70s.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_00: It might be in the 60s.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_03: Anchorman is 66.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_00: I shouldn't have did that one.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_03: So you've done you've done five.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_00: 106, Anchor Man.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_03: You can still easily do this.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_00: I can I can do this.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna go.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_05: Let's do hitch.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_05: I know what the hitch score is.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_03: Uh you say what?
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_03: I know it's 68.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_03: It's 68?
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_03: I know it was okay.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_03: So you're at 38, which actually puts you at an advantage now, because comedies you can get.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_03: I can now right.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_00: That's why I was trying to get low.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_00: Because now I can like get to the bad comedies.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_00: Okay, so I'm at how much?
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_00: 38.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_00: 38.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_00: And I have how many to play with?
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_00: You've got three to tie.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_05: Three to tie.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_05: Thirty-eight?
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 1:01:56SPEAKER_05: You can do this.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_05: Let's do Let's do the scary movie.

- 1:02:18SPEAKER_00: Let's do Joanna Man.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_00: Let's do Joanna Man.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_03: If you get it with Joanna Man, that is like perfect.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_03: Nine.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_05: Nine.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_05: Damn.
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_03: You got six you gotta get a six.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_03: High.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_00: Six is hard.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_00: Six is hard.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_00: Damn.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_00: I was hoping you want a man would have been like 14, 15.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_00: I I thought it might be.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_07: Damn.
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_07: Six.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_05: Six.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_05: I can't even think.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_05: What's gonna be a six?
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_05: Oh, this may be higher.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_05: Let's okay.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_05: I may go over.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_05: If I go over.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_05: I'll give you a few.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_05: But if I go over, do I come back to say a six?
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_05: This one may be a read.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_05: Let's do booty tank.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_05: Have you done booty tank before?
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_05: I just have a feeling it's gonna be around there.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_03: 27.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_05: Twenty-seven!
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_03: Jesus! Okay, that's crazy.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_03: I mean, I love booty tank, but that is wild.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I would not think that.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_00: That movie was hated.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:03:43SPEAKER_00: Six is hard.
- 1:03:45SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be a six.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_05: When am I at how many am I at now?
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_03: You've done eight.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_05: So you can tell me.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_05: Oh man, okay.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_06: Six comedy.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_05: Six.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_05: It has it's gotta be, it has to be like an obscure movie.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_03: I don't think it does.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_03: Actually, don't think it does.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_03: I think it's just gonna be a hated movie.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_00: But like even hated movies will be around like 27.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_00: That's why that's why I really thought Juwanna Man was gonna do it.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be something like Joanna Man.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_05: Um It is maybe too high.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_05: It is maybe too high.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_05: What are you thinking?
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_05: Like Mike.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_05: That's too high.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_00: That's too high.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_00: Um oh man, this is hard.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_00: This is hard.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_00: Let me think.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_00: Let me think.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like Mike 57.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I I figured.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_05: Because it was for kids.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_05: So um, I'm trying to go back in my memory bank.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_05: Who's making that?
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_05: Oh, the mask too.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_05: Son of the mask.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_00: Son of the mask.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_00: That is please don't tell me that's over 10.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_07: Six.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_00: So that that's it.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_00: Bam! No, no, no.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_00: Tied with demi.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_00: Tied with demi.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_00: I'm really mad Joanna Man didn't win it.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_00: But like I thought Joanna Man was about to win it for me.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_00: Hey, it's still about a mask.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_00: Damn, it is.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_00: There it is, baby.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_00: There it is.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_00: That was fun.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_03: That was great.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 1:05:40SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_03: I actually I have to go back and check how many, how many uh Demi uh went over how many times you might beat it.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_00: I might beat it, because I went over technology once.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because I didn't really say like Mike.
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_00: I was just saying that's what I was thinking.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_00: Uh I think he might I think he might have said a few.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_00: Bam.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_00: I think you might be top.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_00: Let Demi know that.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_00: Let Demi.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_00: You're gonna go see him.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_00: You can tell him.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_00: I am.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna tell him.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_00: I beat you, Demi.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_00: I beat you.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_00: I beat you.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_00: That's fun.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_00: I love that, man.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_00: That's a fun game.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_00: That's a fun game.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_00: Um, it it gets hard.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_00: Like, get into that, get into the under 100.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_00: It's yeah.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_00: That's an easy.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_00: And for me, I was just like, I just I actually really wanted to get under 40.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_00: Because then I was like, I got a few bad movies.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_03: This is the thing.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_00: It's like how you play the game based on like your category you get.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_00: I was like, get I just need to get to under 40.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:06:32SPEAKER_00: Because there's gonna be a few bad movies that in the 20s to 30s range that probably would do it.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_03: Son of the Mars 6%.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_00: That movie was so fucking bad.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_00: I could not parallel is one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_00: Especially coming off the back of what was the mask?
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_00: Just interested.
- 1:06:53SPEAKER_03: What was it?
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_03: It's probably it's gonna be like I reckon that's like I feel like it probably didn't do as well.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_00: And then audience score.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_03: I reckon it's gonna be like in the 70s.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_00: That's my guess.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_00: I don't think like 50s, but audience score.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_00: 82.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_00: 82?
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_00: Hell yeah.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_00: Audience score 68.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 1:07:07SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_00: 82 makes sense.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_00: Mask is one of my favorites.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_03: Well, audience score, son of the mask, 16.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_00: So we're starting to find out that audience scores for comedies are bullshit.
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_00: In every way.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_00: That's what it seems to me.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_00: In every way.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_00: There's no consensus.
- 1:07:27SPEAKER_00: Even Beverly Hills only being 83 audience score.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_00: Beverly Hills got a lot of things.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, one of the greatest movies of all time.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_00: What about coming to America?
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_00: Coming to America is my favorite Eddie movie.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_03: I actually would agree.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_03: Coming to America is 71.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_03: That's that's actually crazy.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_00: Coming to America is one of the greatest comedies of all time.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_00: Literally.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_00: Literally.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_00: That's wild.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_03: That's one of my favorite movies of all time.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_03: Seriously.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_00: I love coming.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_00: It's so funny.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_00: And it's the introduction of a of a black character playing multiple of a black actor playing multiple characters in a movie, too.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_03: Oh, and that that's one of the best ways it's ever been done.
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_00: Oh, so good.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_00: And not just him, Arsenio Hall.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_00: Arsenio was doesn't get his flowers.
- 1:08:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_00: Uh for how good he was in that movie.
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_03: And then just Cuba Goodin Jr.
- 1:08:19SPEAKER_03: in the back.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:21SPEAKER_00: Introducing Sam Jackson to the world.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_00: Like, man, everything movie is crazy.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_00: What an absolute classic that movie is.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_00: 71 is crazy.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_00: That's bullshit.
- 1:08:31SPEAKER_00: Audience 85.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_00: Again.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_00: Even that, even that is that should be like 99.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_00: 99.
- 1:08:36unknown: Yeah.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_00: I don't know anyone that doesn't like coming to America.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_00: I don't either.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_00: I feel, you know, some sometimes I think with audience scores, especially in the era we are now.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_00: Like review bombing is a thing.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_00: Uh so like that happen.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_00: And then everybody's so critical.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_00: In a way that's annoying.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_00: Like everybody thinks their opinion is so important.
- 1:08:58unknown: Yeah.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_00: And none of ours are.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_00: None of ours.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_00: None of our opinions are that important.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_00: And so, like, you know, everybody is like, I have a voice now.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_00: And like get on the keyboard and start typing.
- 1:09:11SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna be controversial.
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna be, I'm gonna go against what everyone thinks.
- 1:09:14SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_00: I'm a film a tour.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_00: Anybody who anybody on the planet, there is somebody who is under the age of 70 who says Casablanca is their favorite movie.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_00: I hate them.
- 1:09:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:09:27SPEAKER_00: I know exactly.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_00: No, it's not.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_00: No, it's not.
- 1:09:31SPEAKER_00: No, it's not.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_00: And I'm not saying Casablanca isn't a good movie.
- 1:09:35SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying it's not uh influential to the movie industry and all the things that it is.
- 1:09:40SPEAKER_00: But move better movies have been made since Casablanca.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_00: And if you are under the if you are under a certain age and you're still saying that you are you you love the smell of your own farts.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_00: Like, leave me alone.
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_00: I don't want to talk to you.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_03: Well that that leads us into the final segment then, which is Do you have a movie?
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_03: Well, you said it's a you said it's not a bad movie, so like Do you have a movie though that is well reviewed and well loved that you actually think is a bad movie?
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_03: I do.
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_03: I do.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_00: I this movie, if I'm not mistaken, won some type of Oscar for either best director or best picture.
- 1:10:29SPEAKER_00: Possibly one best picture.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_00: Uh the Hurt Locker.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_00: It's one best picture.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_00: Wait a minute, wait a minute.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_00: No, sorry.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, not the Hurt Locker.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_00: Not the Hurt Locker.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_00: What's the one where James Renner turns into an alien at the end?
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_00: Jeremy Renner, arrival.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_00: Jerry Jeremy R no no no.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_00: Uh District 9?
- 1:10:47SPEAKER_03: Oh, District 9.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_00: That's not Jeremy Renner.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_00: That's um Oh, it's the it's the uh South African guy.
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_00: Let me see.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_00: District 9.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_03: It Charlotte.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_00: Hurt Locker was not bad, actually.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_03: Charlotte Copley.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_00: Sorry.
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_00: That's what I meant.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_00: That's what I meant.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_03: Um that didn't win anything, but it got a little bit more.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_03: No, that didn't win anything.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_00: Okay, my bad, my bad.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_03: I was I am conflating two movies because that came out the same year as the Okay, and those two white men look alike to me.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_03: Uh I see it.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_00: I see it.
- 1:11:18SPEAKER_00: Kind of.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_00: Uh okay.
- 1:11:19SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:11:20SPEAKER_00: District 9.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_00: Wow, okay.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_00: District 9.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_00: Uh so it didn't win anything, but it is.
- 1:11:28SPEAKER_00: I remember everybody just like, this movie is fantastic.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_00: I think it got like over 90 something percent Rotten Tomatoes or something.
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_00: 90.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_00: Everybody was just like, this is the movie to go see.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_00: I went to go watch it.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_00: I was like, this shit is so fucking boring.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_00: It's so boring.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_00: And I do not give a crap about these characters or about this guy.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_00: I and and also I'll never forget this, I'll never forget.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_00: Um, I went to the movie.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_00: I went to go see that movie with a person I was dating at the time and their younger brother who was working at the movie theater.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:12:06SPEAKER_00: And and he like gave us all, like he brought us to the movie theater for free.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_00: Uh you still like I hate this.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_00: And at the end of the movie, I was just like, that shit was bad.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_00: And he got so mad.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_00: He got so mad.
- 1:12:22SPEAKER_00: And I love him to death.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_00: Like, we're very close now, but like, even though me and her aren't together anymore.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_00: But this was like right at the beginning of us knowing each other.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_00: He got so, so mad.
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_00: Because in his mind, he was he was a teenager.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_00: In his mind, he was just like, I brought y'all to this movie theater.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_00: And you aren't appreciative.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_01: I was like, I'm appreciative of the movie.
- 1:12:42SPEAKER_01: This movie is bad.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:12:44SPEAKER_00: This movie is really like you have to like the movie.
- 1:12:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I did not like it.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_00: So District 9 is boring.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_00: I I remember everybody like falling in love with the last shot when like it became evident that he was turning into one of the things.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_00: And I was just like, get this shit off the screen.
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_00: Like, come on.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_03: I went to see it.
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_03: I remember I went to see it.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_03: Um I'd I'd just gone on a like a study abroad thing to New York.
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_03: And so like we were, and we all got taken.
- 1:13:13SPEAKER_03: It was like the the beginning week of of uh the university, and we all got taken to go see a movie or whatever.
- 1:13:21SPEAKER_03: We got taken to see District 9.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:13:23SPEAKER_03: So it's like, and this is I was at film school, so this is all film school students seen there.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_03: And everyone's going, oh, it's amazing.
- 1:13:30SPEAKER_03: I love this so much.
- 1:13:31SPEAKER_03: And I was like, Yeah, it's good.
- 1:13:33SPEAKER_03: Man, but it wasn't, yeah.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_00: Everybody was like, It's the best movie of the year, and artists were like, that's exactly what it was.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, it's not.
- 1:13:42SPEAKER_00: More recently, if I can give you another one, more recently, um, every Dune movie is boring to me.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_03: Coming up that's that's coming up so much.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_03: It's coming people that do not like it.
- 1:13:53SPEAKER_00: Dune is I I I cannot stay awake.
- 1:13:56unknown: Yeah.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_00: I go to sleep for every the for the two I've gone to sleep for.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_00: I don't even think I'm gonna go see the second the third one in theaters.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_00: Like it's just not my type of movie.
- 1:14:06SPEAKER_03: I think they're fine.
- 1:14:07SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm like, I I don't really care though.
- 1:14:10SPEAKER_03: I just don't care.
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't, I don't get, I don't get it.
- 1:14:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:14:15SPEAKER_00: Also, I'm like, what do we watch?
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_00: Like the first one I was mad because I was just like, man, I thought Zendaya was gonna be in all the movies.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_00: She only in the first.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_00: And then the second one, I'm like, all right, I guess like I see y'all trying.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_00: What is this movie?
- 1:14:29SPEAKER_00: I don't know what the movie is about.
- 1:14:31unknown: Yeah.
- 1:14:31SPEAKER_03: I don't.
- 1:14:32SPEAKER_03: Have you seen have you seen the the original one?
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_03: No, and nothing about this is gonna inspire me to watch it.
- 1:14:38SPEAKER_03: No, it's so different.
- 1:14:39SPEAKER_03: It's crazy.
- 1:14:40SPEAKER_03: Is it better?
- 1:14:42SPEAKER_03: Some say it's better, some say it's a lot worse.
- 1:14:44SPEAKER_03: It's okay.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_03: The CGI, insane.
- 1:14:48SPEAKER_03: I'm sure it's like it's like a 70s movie with uh made by David Lynch.
- 1:14:52SPEAKER_00: Oh, oh really?
- 1:14:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_00: It's crazy.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_03: I I I likely won't watch it, but like does I would look up a clip because it's so funny.
- 1:15:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'll see, I'll watch a clip or something like that.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:15:04SPEAKER_00: I don't get it.
- 1:15:05SPEAKER_00: And I don't get how it has like it's about to have a third movie.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_00: Like, so much so that Avengers can't even get the IMAX screens.
- 1:15:12SPEAKER_03: They're playing the same, they're opening the same day?
- 1:15:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:15:14SPEAKER_03: Mad.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_00: Crazy.
- 1:15:16SPEAKER_03: Mad.
- 1:15:16SPEAKER_03: I don't think it's gonna be Avengers still.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, Yeah.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_00: I uh I don't know.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_00: I don't know, man.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 1:15:22SPEAKER_00: But yeah, Dune is is I don't understand how people are liking it, people are reviewing it well, and people want to go see a third installment.
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_03: What it seems to what I'm noticing with those three, you don't like big sci-fi movies.
- 1:15:39SPEAKER_05: I'm not, you know.
- 1:15:42SPEAKER_05: Like if a sci-fi movie is done well, I'm all in.
- 1:15:46SPEAKER_00: But I'm also not, yeah, you know, like I I never watched Lord of the Rings.
- 1:15:52SPEAKER_00: I know that's fantasy.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_03: You've never seen it.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_00: I I I recently watched the first two with uh my girlfriend or person I was seeing for a while and cause she loved it.
- 1:16:05SPEAKER_00: And she was like, I you have to see these.
- 1:16:07SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I've always said that, but I was just like, eh, whatever.
- 1:16:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_01: And I watched the first two, and like they're not bad movies.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_02: They're they're fine.
- 1:16:15SPEAKER_02: I'm just like, greatest movies ever.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_02: No, I but that but that's just me, you know, it's not clicking in my brain.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_00: Um so a lot of people say that about Stones as well.
- 1:16:25SPEAKER_00: Oh, Star Wars is objectively ass.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_00: I think Star Wars, like, I get why Star Wars is a phenomenon that it is, but those first three movies are a mess.
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_00: That even George Lucas didn't know what he wanted to do with those movies.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_00: Like, they like there's no clear indication that he didn't know what the fuck he wanted to do with that movie.
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_00: Between the fact that like Princess Leia and uh Luke were love interests, and then they become brother and sister.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_00: Like, and that wasn't like a story plot, that was just like a a change.
- 1:17:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_00: It's like, oh wait, I got another idea.
- 1:17:04SPEAKER_00: And like wrote it.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_00: And, you know, and it's created some great characters and what it's done for like the franchise.
- 1:17:11SPEAKER_00: Like it launched the franchise.
- 1:17:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:17:14SPEAKER_00: You know, um, that and the Bonds movie, the Bond movies.
- 1:17:18SPEAKER_00: But like, so you know, uh it's place in history, I'll never, I'll never dispute.
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_00: But it being a good movie, there's a couple of them that are good, but all in all, most of them are waiting which ones are good?
- 1:17:33SPEAKER_00: I I liked Solo.
- 1:17:35SPEAKER_00: Solo, yeah, okay.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_00: Solo was okay.
- 1:17:37SPEAKER_00: Although a lot of people didn't like that one.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_00: I liked it.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:17:40SPEAKER_00: Uh Rogue One, I think, was my favorite movie.
- 1:17:42SPEAKER_03: Rogue One is might be my favorite.
- 1:17:43SPEAKER_00: Rogue One, I think, is the best Star Wars movie I've ever made.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_00: Uh I like Solo just because like I liked Donald Glover and him in it.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_00: He's great.
- 1:17:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_00: I just like the characters in it.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:17:53SPEAKER_00: Uh Rogue One is probably the best one.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:17:55SPEAKER_00: Like the episode.
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_00: I might agree with that.
- 1:17:57SPEAKER_00: I I love Rogue One.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_00: I like, you know, I episode uh what became episode two.
- 1:18:06SPEAKER_00: Uh like I thought was okay.
- 1:18:09SPEAKER_00: I know people hated that.
- 1:18:10SPEAKER_00: It's so boring.
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_00: Is people hated it, I was just like, not episode two, uh, but became episode three.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_00: I thought it was like, oh, cool, let's see how Darth Vader was made.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_00: Like I liked that type of shit.
- 1:18:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:20SPEAKER_00: The movie itself was whatever, but I'm like, oh yeah, seeing how Darth Vader became Darth Vader, that's a cool idea.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_00: It is a cool idea, yeah.
- 1:18:28SPEAKER_00: Um, which is why I really liked him in Rogue One.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_02: Other than that.
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_00: Oh, that scene in Rogue One with him is so good.
- 1:18:34SPEAKER_00: It's so good.
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_00: It's so good.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_00: Terrifying.
- 1:18:36SPEAKER_00: He's, yeah.
- 1:18:37SPEAKER_00: I was just like, that's that that's fucking Darth Vader.
- 1:18:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, other than that, and no, and honestly, all those except Rogue One aren't good.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_00: I just had more interest in them than anything.
- 1:18:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:18:53SPEAKER_00: None of them are really great.
- 1:18:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:18:55SPEAKER_00: Which I know is blasphemous to say.
- 1:18:57SPEAKER_00: So many things.
- 1:18:59SPEAKER_00: Uh you know, uh, but still.
- 1:19:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:19:03SPEAKER_00: Not my favorites.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, fair enough.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_00: I get I get it.
- 1:19:06SPEAKER_00: I think Star Trek is a better franchise.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 1:19:09SPEAKER_00: Than Star Wars.
- 1:19:10SPEAKER_00: That's a hot take.
- 1:19:11SPEAKER_00: I think Star Trek has way better movies.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_03: Not all of them are good, but I think they have I think it has a lot worse movies.
- 1:19:18SPEAKER_00: Probably.
- 1:19:19SPEAKER_00: They have a lot more.
- 1:19:20SPEAKER_00: I think.
- 1:19:20SPEAKER_00: Well, you know, now Star Wars is becoming very prolific.
- 1:19:23SPEAKER_00: But like uh Star Trek has a lot more uh in it.
- 1:19:28SPEAKER_00: But as far as far as if you put the top five Star Trek movies in the top five Star Wars movies, I think the Star Trek movies are better movies.
- 1:19:38SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 1:19:38SPEAKER_00: Uh than the Star Wars movies, personally.
- 1:19:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_00: Personally.
- 1:19:42SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:19:42SPEAKER_00: You know, that's just that's just me.
- 1:19:44SPEAKER_03: I haven't seen enough of the Star Trek ones to comment on that.
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_03: That's fair.
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 1:19:48SPEAKER_00: Me either.
- 1:19:51SPEAKER_00: But but the ones I have seen, I'm like, these are good.
- 1:19:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:19:54SPEAKER_00: These are good.
- 1:19:55SPEAKER_00: I've seen all the new ones.
- 1:19:56SPEAKER_03: I like them.
- 1:19:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're great.
- 1:19:57SPEAKER_00: The new ones are great.
- 1:19:58SPEAKER_00: Some of the old ones are good.
- 1:19:59SPEAKER_00: Star Trek New Generation with Patrick Stewart is better than any Star Wars thing I've ever seen.
- 1:20:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I would agree with that.
- 1:20:05SPEAKER_00: I agree, I do agree with that.
- 1:20:07SPEAKER_00: Uh so like I think Star, yeah, I think Star Trek has better content personally.
- 1:20:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:20:13SPEAKER_00: Uh in totality.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, I I I can see it.
- 1:20:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's you know, I'm recognized I'm in a minority there.
- 1:20:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, which I think is what it is.
