- 0:07SPEAKER_03: We've just watched day two of the HIL auction.
- 0:29SPEAKER_03: So let's stick together.
- 0:31SPEAKER_03: Season seven, episode two, we've managed to get in a room together.
- 0:34SPEAKER_03: It's a special occasion.
- 0:35SPEAKER_03: Um, we are brought to you by Y1.
- 0:37SPEAKER_03: I forgot to say that in the special episode, and we definitely are because they've been sorting us out with all of the good editing.
- 0:44SPEAKER_03: We now have a YouTube channel.
- 0:46SPEAKER_03: Just type in let's stick together on YouTube and please click subscribe.
- 0:51SPEAKER_03: I'm taking the reins on that, and so it's it's pretty terrible so far, but you know, maybe it might get better.
- 0:57SPEAKER_03: How are you guys?
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: That was a really shit intro, Phil.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: You really butchered HIL.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, what illusion.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: I'm good.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: I'm actually I'm actually quite good.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: I'm okay.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Like it's been a it's been a weird couple of uh couple of uh days because I was very uh into the uh to the to the we call hill to the Hil auction.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: A lot has happened, so uh I'm I'm actually I'm actually good.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: How are you?
- 1:24SPEAKER_03: Don't worry, we are gonna get into it.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: First of all, Brendan, we gotta we gotta talk to you, bring you in.
- 1:29SPEAKER_03: Brendan's for the first time in in Charlotte, is that right?
- 1:33SPEAKER_03: In Charlotte, USA.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: That's what she said.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: How's life across the pond?
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: Oh you um yeah, do you know what it's pretty cool?
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: Um it was 27 degrees yesterday, so from a weather point of view, it's pretty unreal.
- 1:48SPEAKER_02: Um, it was like 80 something.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: Good from you though.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: I I the way it's been described to me is if it's in the 80s, it's 80% hot.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: And if it's in the 50s, it's 50% hot.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: And that's the way I've tried to like view it.
- 2:07SPEAKER_03: Wait a minute, where's your microphone?
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: Uh my microphone, I haven't got the stand, and I'm not holding it the whole time.
- 2:14SPEAKER_03: Go and get the microphone and hold it the whole time because your voice was your voice was terrible in episode one.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, it's a tough crowd.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: Should we keep this in?
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: If if we've kept this in, you can keep this in.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: I'll try and find it.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: You can hear all the jangling and I'll find it.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Oh, I don't want to hold the mic the whole time.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: As our listeners now know, is that we've really stepped it up and we become more of a professional podcast.
- 2:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you you didn't put a heartfelt message out last episode to say vote for me in the FIH world player.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: That voting's now closed.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: When do you know when we find out if you're the world player of the year?
- 2:54SPEAKER_03: Or or it might be Harman Priet.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Well, uh Philip, uh, I found out I was nominated uh through uh the Instagram post you guys saw.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: That was how I know uh I was nominated.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: So I don't expect uh to find out when when I get to hear that Harman Priet has won um anytime soon.
- 3:16SPEAKER_03: I'm in that's so much better.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, but I don't want to hold this the whole time.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: I feel like I'm interviewing.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: I'm definitely gonna do a lot more YouTube if if you're holding the mic like that.
- 3:28SPEAKER_03: Can you pretend like you're LeBron?
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: I feel it feels ridiculous.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: It feels ridiculous.
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: A lot has happened, and we genuinely like just appreciate that hockey is quite a slow sport normally with the news and stuff.
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: This last week or two has been absolute carnage.
- 3:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean to to touch on that, we've we've we've got a few things to to walk through.
- 3:50SPEAKER_03: Like the EHL happened in Surbiton, where there was the I don't know they call it the K of 16 or K of 32.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: So we're definitely gonna run through that.
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: We got some news uh out of GB and England um to start us off, I guess, which is uh the head coach of uh our GB men's team has uh uh stepped down.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: So Paul Revington stepped down as the uh GB men's coach.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: You's uh face looks shocked, which means he has not seen that news because he just lives in a different world.
- 4:21SPEAKER_03: And um band uh Nicholas Banderac has also left Holcomb um through a strange series of events.
- 4:30SPEAKER_03: But we'll first of all go to Rev's.
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: Uh Yupe, do you want to pick up on that just to get your instant reaction?
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Um I I I didn't know just found out.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, it caught me a bit off guard.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Uh why is he stepped down?
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: Is that is that no?
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Because because like uh you guys were really successful with uh one final spot in the last 20 years.
- 4:56SPEAKER_03: So Ren, do you want to go?
- 5:00SPEAKER_02: What a bitch.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: Um I I'll be honest, I I was a bit surprised.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, I found out through others.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: I didn't even find out through Revs himself, so that was a bit confusing for me.
- 5:13SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, I'll I'll be honest, it's a bit of a shock.
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: Um and I'd and I'd like to know the real honest truth behind it all rather than what's been publicly said.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: Um, but ultimately it is a bit of a shock and it is gonna be a bit of a change.
- 5:28SPEAKER_02: Um, because I think he did a really good job and I think he was great for the group, and he took us a long way.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: Um so yeah, it's a bit of it's a bit odd, but at the same time, there's gonna be some pretty good reasons behind it.
- 5:40SPEAKER_02: I don't think you make that decision on a whim, and I don't think you make that decision lightly.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: So from that point of view, there's there's clearly something that we probably don't know that that might that will probably play a big part in it.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: Um yeah.
- 5:53SPEAKER_03: I think I think what's been said is that he wanted to take us, he thought he's taken us as far as he could.
- 6:03SPEAKER_03: And he wants to leave it up to someone else to take the reins and like like further the good work that he's done.
- 6:10SPEAKER_03: I think it's difficult because he's been he's been uh a very influential coach to so many.
- 6:15SPEAKER_03: He's come in with a completely new idea and took us on further than we'd been in a while.
- 6:21SPEAKER_03: Um so really disappointing.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: But obviously, I I think maybe stuff is gonna is gonna progress and like Brennan says, we'll probably find out what's actually going on.
- 6:32SPEAKER_03: Um, but yeah, pretty disappointing.
- 6:34SPEAKER_03: Like from a just a personal point of view, he he was he was amazing.
- 6:37SPEAKER_03: What a what a great man manager trying to get the best out of each player, I think, gave a lot of guys a lot of confidence.
- 6:45SPEAKER_03: Um, even if like Brendan's talking about someone who didn't pick him for two major tournaments, Brendan's got a lot of good things to say about him, which I don't think many players would.
- 6:54SPEAKER_03: Is that fair, Brennan?
- 6:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: Um I think it's also hard, like when you're ultimately coming down to like an Olympics, for example.
- 7:03SPEAKER_02: Like I actually had a bit of a bad taste in my mouth post-games, just simply because it felt like when you were outside of the 18, you really felt outside of the 18, and that's the only time I've ever really felt that.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: But I also understand that it's ultimately the Olympics is about 18 guys rather than the full squad at that point.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: So from that point of view, it's more personal thing.
- 7:24SPEAKER_02: But a hundred percent I've got a lot of I've got a lot of positive thoughts to say about the guy, and I think he's as you've as you've said, Phil, like he dragged us up the hill as such and kind of put us really competing at the top, and as you've jokingly said though, a final is is where we haven't been for a while, and ultimately that's where he got us to.
- 7:44SPEAKER_02: Um, and it's now the responsibility of someone else, I guess, to get us into more of them and ultimately to win something.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: I'm really curious who will take over, though.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: There's not a there's not a lot available at the moment.
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: No, you always think I think we always think that, and then probably there'll be a load of available people out there, we just don't know who they are.
- 8:05SPEAKER_03: Do you know?
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: I think it's interesting that that the GB job and the Aussie men's jobs available.
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: True.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: I think I think that's two there's two pretty desirable jobs, I think, in terms of world hockey from one culturally, but also two from like just a lifestyle point of view.
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: The UK and Australia are pretty good countries to live in if you're looking to relocate families and things.
- 8:26SPEAKER_02: Like, there's there's two pretty huge jobs available, let alone our PD job.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: Like, I think there's in hockey terms, there's a lot of good uh performance director.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: I think there's like pretty good jobs available to the to the hockey world, which I don't think happens too often.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: I think you sometimes get it in one, but to have it in two pretty big hockey nations is quite interesting, I think.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: What is a performance director?
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: Uh someone who overlooks the um performance teams.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: So you for us it'll be the head the top GB and women's and men's teams.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: Their responsibility is basically to make sure the programs are running true to schedule and kind of making sure everything's tip top and everything else.
- 9:07SPEAKER_02: So it's quite it's a pretty big job in the UK.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: Um from that point of view for hockey.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: I think I would do a good job coaching you guys.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: Absolute horseshit.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: On to the next I think I would do a great job.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: I think I would I would get you guys to at least a semi-final at the Olympics and at least a medal at either World Cup or European Cup.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: We will never know because they will never give me the job.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: Maybe I can apply.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: But um you would be in, Bren.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: You would make my selection, Phil.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: You would be out.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: That's done.
- 9:38SPEAKER_03: That's fair enough.
- 9:39SPEAKER_03: That's fair enough.
- 9:40SPEAKER_03: I've dealt with enough rejection in the last 24 hours, so let's let's leave it there.
- 9:44SPEAKER_03: We'll come on to we'll come on to that.
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: We'll come on to that.
- 9:47SPEAKER_03: Um before before we move on to other stuff.
- 9:53SPEAKER_03: You I want you to talk through um some OR stuff for the last few weeks, and then Brendan, we're also gonna, you know, we didn't actually touch on what you're doing in the US, so that'll be, you know, if if there's any hockey stuff, you have a think while you monologues his way through, probably OR doing fairly well, I'm guessing.
- 10:09SPEAKER_03: Last time you were like, it's it's our year, the time is right now.
- 10:14SPEAKER_03: That was what you said in the special episode.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: So I really said that, yeah, you really did.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Oh, we knew you were joking, but I think you tried to say it with some seriousness.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, yeah, we kind of we did turn it around.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: Uh uh quick side note.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: Um do you guys know uh McAllister or McCellen or something on Instagram?
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: He's like uh a Scottish guy who gives his commentary to football games and shit.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Really fucking funny.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: Um, and he kind of inspired me to uh to yeah, we got against Amsterdam, we got put in uh in uh in uh into the deep fire because we got absolutely battered, but ever since then we kind of picked it up.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Um we we drew two games like the the line is steadily going up.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: We won against Campbell, which was a really big win.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: Then we beat uh both Nijmegen and um what's their name?
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: Hurley.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: So we're actually doing quite okay.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: We're actually starting to find our form a bit.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: We're now in the fourth spot.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, we're doing we're doing pretty well.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: I feel like a lot of teams are doing shit at the moment, which makes us look a little better.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: Like Pino K is, I don't know what they're doing, uh, but they're they're they're like like messing it up quite quite a lot.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: Rotterdam is not in top form yet, Campbell's not really in top form, so um, I think people are looking more at them than at us, um, which is actually quite quite nice.
- 11:39SPEAKER_03: Um just to quickly touch on there's been a lot of nice press um around the work you've been doing for Heiss, your team mate, Van Mery and Boa.
- 11:49SPEAKER_03: Mary, who um I also play with, who's an absolute top guy.
- 11:52SPEAKER_03: I don't know if you could you happy to share set share some of the stuff you've done.
- 11:56SPEAKER_03: It's been amazing.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, it's not just me.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: I think the club is doing a really good job.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: Uh Nano, who's a really good guy, uh Kaiser Maybu, I think a lot of people will know him, but from uh from UK, probably a little less.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Is a teammate of mine who is playing played for R now, I think for nine years, eight years.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: Um always uh like a guy from the neighborhood, guy from the club.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: Uh and yet they they found uh a tumor in his leg.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: Uh is that the English word?
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: A tumor uh in his leg.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: So uh he's now going through uh through uh treatment through chemo uh therapy, um, almost halfway done with the chemo, but now now has to do uh a surgery, and then another full round of chemos.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: He's like uh on his way to recovery, but together with the club, uh, me, uh Yele Kalma and uh Nano, our manager.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: We uh organized uh together with a lot of other people that we um did our lineup in a shirt that says uh S1 team behind uh our Mary, uh, which is his nickname.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: Um, and we like uh we also play with like a kind of yeah, how do you call it like a symbol or logo um of him with uh his initials, number 12 and two sticks that make a heart, and we will play with it the entire season on our sleeve uh to support him a little bit.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: But he's doing really well, he's uh uh considerably considering considerably.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: Considering considering he's doing really well um uh holding on, and uh yeah, he's uh yeah, as you said, top guy, uh so it's the least we can do as a club.
- 13:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, top work, mate.
- 13:27SPEAKER_03: And obviously, we're sending all of our best wishes to Mary.
- 13:30SPEAKER_03: He's a top guy, and yeah, you you're coming across in a good like because occasionally you can be a good bloke.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, every once in a while it happens.
- 13:38SPEAKER_03: And let's let's finish off with Brent.
- 13:41SPEAKER_03: You know what how is the US?
- 13:43SPEAKER_03: How's it treating you?
- 13:44SPEAKER_03: What are you up to out there?
- 13:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but I want to know because I haven't spoken to you.
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, do you know what it's been really good?
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: It's been pretty whirlwind.
- 13:52SPEAKER_02: Um, just starting what is essentially a second week of work.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm doing a bit of coaching, helping some technical stuff with the US women's just from like a again, just like a technical point of view.
- 14:03SPEAKER_02: Um, it's been really good fun, it's been a different challenge, um, but something that I've kind of really enjoyed.
- 14:09SPEAKER_02: And it's weird to say, but apart from the club stuff, I haven't necessarily missed not training.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: Um it's just been quite nice.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: I think I always wanted to kind of find that next thing, and this has been really enjoyable so far, whether it's a long-term thing is a different story.
- 14:23SPEAKER_02: But I think what's been really fun is kind of just looking at hockey from a different angle.
- 14:29SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, as I say, like the weather's makes up for quite a lot of it.
- 14:33SPEAKER_02: You don't normally get 27-degree heat in October.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: Um, so I am slightly sunburnt after spending.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: I thought it was quite funny that you guys were talking about the hockey India League yesterday, and I was playing in a seven aside tournament in Charlotte for nine hours or like eight hours where I was in net as well.
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: So, from that point of view, like my whole like aspect of hockey has changed a little bit.
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: Um seven aside tournament you playing in just a just a random seven aside tournament at a club, um, which is like yeah, real contrast.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: I'm awful, mate.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: I'm awful in that.
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: Um Maddie scored past me.
- 15:07SPEAKER_02: That says that's yeah, she put she put two past me, which was a bit depressing.
- 15:11SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, it's been good fun.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: Um, and it's as I say, it's just a kind of next stage of life.
- 15:17SPEAKER_02: It's been yeah, a good challenge to kind of sink my teeth into something new.
- 15:20SPEAKER_03: Um and I tell you what's been what's been another challenge is trying to get a date where the three of us can actually sit down and do a podcast.
- 15:28SPEAKER_03: We're gonna toy with the idea of doing different different um two of us with a guest, two of us on our own, so bear with us.
- 15:35SPEAKER_03: But this has you know been a quite serious start to the podcast.
- 15:38SPEAKER_03: Let's let's um do you want to do the HL straight away or do we want to?
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: Well, maybe they should maybe they should maybe they can send in ideas about how we can do it.
- 15:46SPEAKER_00: Maybe they could send an email to BrendanCreed18 at uh gmail.com.
- 15:51SPEAKER_03: Um what do you want?
- 15:53SPEAKER_03: You sorry, what what what ideas about how we run the podcast?
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, about if they have ideas if they want, which guests they want, uh who out of us three they want out, who uh shit like that.
- 16:05SPEAKER_03: You just put that in so casually.
- 16:07SPEAKER_03: Who do you want out?
- 16:08SPEAKER_03: Who do you want us to come in?
- 16:09SPEAKER_03: Do you want a full-time podcaster?
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: Like send us your thoughts.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: Run and creed 18, uh, or or creedy be me, uh, be you at givo.com.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Thanks for that, mate.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no worries, gotcha.
- 16:26SPEAKER_03: Right, let's finish off the news then.
- 16:28SPEAKER_03: Uh, quickly, Banderak leaves Holcomb.
- 16:30SPEAKER_03: Um, we have seen lots of this in social media.
- 16:34SPEAKER_03: I I've had messages from, and I think let's stick to there have messages from all sorts of people asking what's going on here.
- 16:41SPEAKER_03: Um, publicly uh Banders put a post out saying he's been kicked out of the first team, he's now been asked to leave the he coaches the women as well, so it's all been a bit messy.
- 16:52SPEAKER_03: Um new coach Kwan Brown started at the start of the year.
- 16:56SPEAKER_03: I think there might be some kind of hangover because Kwan was our attacking coach.
- 17:01SPEAKER_03: Banders wasn't picked for the Olympics.
- 17:04SPEAKER_03: Um, but yeah, it's uh Brendan.
- 17:07SPEAKER_03: Have you got any takes on this?
- 17:09SPEAKER_02: Not particularly to be honest.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: I don't know any of the facts.
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: Um, and I don't particularly, and you've only I've only seen stuff that's posted on social media, so from that point of view, I'm not really sure what my take on it is, but clearly something's up.
- 17:21SPEAKER_02: Just I think what's interesting is the fact that there's been no talk from Holcomb publicly, which I think is probably quite smart from them to kind of not get involved.
- 17:32SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, I I don't really have much of a take on it, but I think it's one of those things that'll I think not get involved.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: How can you not get involved as a club?
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: Which is all about it's between the coach of your and your your top player.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: How can you not be involved as a club?
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: You gotta come out with a statement.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: It's like I have no bread in the basket, or how do you how do you call it?
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: But that's fine.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: Bread in the basket.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: That's a great statement.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's fucking weak.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: How can you not give like a statement or of some sort?
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: They have the step the statement, you is the shortest statement, and it literally states that uh Banderak has left.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: That is basically what the statement says.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: So they've clearly skated around as much as possible to not.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: Banderak has left and the grass is still green, like fucking dipshits.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Come out with some sort of like uh explanation of why the guy left, has to leave.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: I mean Holcomb, you're a bunch of pussies.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: Come out with something, man.
- 18:32SPEAKER_03: I find it very tough because like there's gotta have something's gotta have happened because like Banders has been at that club for 10 years, he's Mr.
- 18:40SPEAKER_03: Holcomb, like it's just everything's just a bit too strange.
- 18:43SPEAKER_03: I uh the one thing I would say is I I'm never sure it's a good idea to air your air your dirty laundry.
- 18:51SPEAKER_03: Um like uh I I I really love both parties, so it's a bit of a strange one, but like I would always try and keep it behind closed doors because it's never it never works out that well.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: This is this is just your your your English pussy uh attitude.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: Just come out with with something, give the people what they want, they want an explanation.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: Like Mr.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: Mr.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: Holcomb has left, let's just state the obvious.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: Oh, he left because of like do something.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: Because now I now I will just I will you me guys like me will just put something out there and it will get a story of itself.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: I will just tell the world uh Benderek said that the coach was was was a fucker.
- 19:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: Who will tell me it's wrong?
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but Holcomb will not tell me I'm wrong, like yeah, because they don't come out with anything.
- 19:42SPEAKER_03: Well, we've conclusively uh well rounded that as normal.
- 19:46SPEAKER_03: You put us both to shame.
- 19:48SPEAKER_03: Um on to on to the EHL.
- 19:51SPEAKER_03: Um Serbiton hosted the EHL uh and it was uh what what seemed like a really good event.
- 19:57SPEAKER_03: Did either of you catch it on TV?
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I did.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: I watched some.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: No, I missed it.
- 20:03SPEAKER_03: Brendan, I know, I know you're doing stuff, but you have to we we run a podcast, we have to have opinions on stuff.
- 20:09SPEAKER_03: You can't just shake your head and sit on the fence the whole time.
- 20:12SPEAKER_03: Have you watched that?
- 20:13SPEAKER_03: Do you know anything that happened in the HL auction?
- 20:15SPEAKER_03: Because you can you can you can just I mean you can sit there like a mute, but we need we need we need information.
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: I do have I have an opinion about the EHL though.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Uh uh don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Cerbiton, go steals, but it looked a bit shy, Brendan.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: It wasn't like it was not like a great commercial for your club.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: It looked a little bit like it was played somewhere in between uh a gas station and a dodgy hotel.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: It's definitely I had like really high hopes of Serbiton, like ah, it looks like an awesome club.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: I um again, a huge fan, but you don't really shit.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: Is that fair or not?
- 20:58SPEAKER_02: I will I will I will I will start.
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: Um I no longer play at Serbiton Yupes, so it's technically not my club anymore.
- 21:06SPEAKER_02: Um that's how quickly you burn your bridges.
- 21:09SPEAKER_02: I think I think what's slightly frustrating.
- 21:11SPEAKER_03: And he's like, I want nothing to do with it.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: They're not my club.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: It's not just like Hawkeye, I'm not gonna get involved.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: I think um I think what what annoyed me was, and Amesy pointed it out, was for a long time their stream has been pretty crap, and once again, it went down again.
- 21:28SPEAKER_02: So, like I think firstly, I don't necessarily think the coverage was that great.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: Um secondly, I actually think the club's really good, and I think that by the sounds of it, they actually put on a pretty great show.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: Um, I appreciate that obviously there's there's so many different aspects to it, but from what I gather, it actually ran pretty smoothly.
- 21:45SPEAKER_02: Um, I also understand that I can imagine and I can imagine I didn't watch it, but I imagine the angles were pretty shit because normally where the camera is for our video stuff, it's pretty awful.
- 21:56SPEAKER_03: So from that point of view, Brennan, Brennan, Brennan, stop because I I I did ask for your opinion, but not for you to guess whether the angles were shit or not.
- 22:04SPEAKER_03: I didn't watch it, so I can't talk.
- 22:07SPEAKER_03: I'm telling you, thank you for your input now.
- 22:09SPEAKER_03: Shut the fuck up.
- 22:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, shut the fuck up if you have nothing to talk about it.
- 22:14SPEAKER_02: I've got to defend it a little bit, haven't I?
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: Maybe the angles were a bit shit, but it looked not like not really impressive, let's be honest.
- 22:23SPEAKER_03: Like yeah, you it's not it's never going to.
- 22:25SPEAKER_03: I think this is the okay.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: The problem is standards, it was probably a really good show.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: Well done.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: Pats off to Holcomb to Sherberton, but for me, it didn't really look like oh EHL, let's fucking go.
- 22:40SPEAKER_03: I understand, and I think the argument I would have for you is that in England we are not blessed with these beautiful clubs with the clubhouse next to the pitch and these lovely stands.
- 22:50SPEAKER_03: Now, what they do have is a is a nice close-knit club where they put up little stands and they attracted people with I think what sounded like they built banks either end, like sorted them out especially for it.
- 23:03SPEAKER_03: They put on stuff, apparently it was a good event.
- 23:06SPEAKER_03: I do understand that from a viewership, it doesn't look like a special event because you don't have the stands.
- 23:12SPEAKER_03: For my from people who have been to the event, they said it would they did it pretty well, and because it's such a small venue, it felt quite busy and quite exciting.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: Now I will hereby retract my uh my statement and will say serviton, still a fan, you did really well.
- 23:29SPEAKER_00: Um I do have to say one thing because I got some excited intel from Rotterdam, uh, who who had a who had uh I wanna uh not bash, but the the hotels uh in Serbiton are not the best.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: They apparently they did they they was like they were they said okay, we're not gonna spend too much on this trip, we're gonna keep it really simple, really easy.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: They had a hotel, apparently just to block walked into an hotel room where two junkies were still sitting.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: Guys came into their room, early check-in, paid extra for an early check-in.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: Rooms were completely not ready.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: Like, there was still like probably.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: This is just my uh imagination running well.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Probably there was still like semen and blood on the bed and shit.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: But apparently the hotels were a little bit shit.
- 24:19SPEAKER_02: And this is where it's amazing again.
- 24:22SPEAKER_02: This is where hockey is just so different to other professional sports.
- 24:26SPEAKER_02: This is where imagine Man City turning up to a to a European tournament and the rooms weren't ready, it just doesn't happen.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: Whereas in our sport, this stuff you just gotta ride with.
- 24:35SPEAKER_03: But you say that, Brent.
- 24:36SPEAKER_03: But if if I I came to Eindhoven and we said, Oh, we're gonna do Eindhoven on a budget and I found the shittest hotel with no work, right?
- 24:43SPEAKER_03: I I'm probably gonna be like, Oh, Irindoven doesn't have good hotels.
- 24:47SPEAKER_03: So hold on, ropes.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: Do you not remember the pro league where we where boys had to they got bed bugs and they had to basically lose all their clothing and then got from the hotel that's right by OR.
- 24:57SPEAKER_02: That is true.
- 24:57SPEAKER_03: Oh, really?
- 24:58SPEAKER_03: That did happen.
- 24:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so funnily enough, ropes, it happens, and it happens in Europe.
- 25:02SPEAKER_02: You just shut up for a change.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: Poland's not as good as you again.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: You fuckers are also a part of Europe, you're just not of the EU.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: Dipshit.
- 25:11SPEAKER_03: Let's let's let's try and talk a small amount of hockey.
- 25:14SPEAKER_03: I think we've conclusively said that Serbon doesn't have good hotels and that it doesn't didn't look good on TV.
- 25:20SPEAKER_03: But angles were fine.
- 25:21SPEAKER_03: I did watch the Mannheimer uh some I watched some of the games and the coverage was was okay, was alright.
- 25:28SPEAKER_03: Um, for people's information, Leopold, Serbiton, Blumenthal and Rotzdam got through to the final eight.
- 25:35SPEAKER_03: Um Blumenthal ended up beating Mannheim in the in the last classification game to to go through.
- 25:41SPEAKER_03: Uh Leopold beat Lil, uh, so they had a really easy run.
- 25:45SPEAKER_03: Um, then the the the spicy stuff happened where Watt Ducks and Serbiton played in the first round with Serbiton coming out on top.
- 25:54SPEAKER_03: Um Struan Walker scored an incredible goal.
- 25:57SPEAKER_03: Um, if you haven't seen it, it's him like first time lobbying from an aerial.
- 26:02SPEAKER_03: Now I went and spoke to him uh last week, and he's he's such a good guy.
- 26:08SPEAKER_03: I literally was mate, come on, you gotta tell me.
- 26:10SPEAKER_03: Like it looked insane, but and he was like, No, I did not mean to do that.
- 26:17SPEAKER_03: So can conclusively say he was like, I was super happy.
- 26:21SPEAKER_03: I was gonna trap it and try and lob him, but then the trap lobbed him, so I was super happy.
- 26:27SPEAKER_03: Um and then um the weekend finishes finished with two really good games.
- 26:32SPEAKER_03: Rotam played hamburger and hamburger with 3-1 up, uh, and with five seconds left, Rotterdam scored.
- 26:42SPEAKER_03: Hamburger decided to leave uh your own Hertzberger three in the D for a big bash in, which was pretty stupid.
- 26:49SPEAKER_03: You did you watch that game?
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I watched parts of it.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: I thought uh I was kind of surprised with how how good Polo, uh how good of a team they had.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: They had like 15 international players, uh, was my fault.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: Um, don't think it's a real culture club, to be honest, because there was like two German players in the team, and the rest was all Australian Kiwi, or fuck knows where where they're where they're from.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: Uh, but they actually had a sick team.
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: I kind of enjoyed uh watching them play, and Rotterdam did really well uh of winning that game, I feel.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: And it was a really good game to watch.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: Like there were some really good goals.
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: Tom Craig scored an insane goal.
- 27:26SPEAKER_03: Um like yeah, that was in that game, was it?
- 27:29SPEAKER_03: Was that that game?
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that wasn't that game.
- 27:32SPEAKER_03: Okay, fair enough.
- 27:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's fair.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: Also, there was a there was a yeah, did you watch Phil?
- 27:40SPEAKER_03: I was trying, yeah.
- 27:41SPEAKER_03: I watched a little bit.
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: It was it was a really good game, but I I agree with you, Yupe.
- 27:45SPEAKER_03: I think hamburger polar are the new like money bags on the uh Euro hockey scene because their team was like an all-star team.
- 27:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it was and yeah, and it did give me some savage pleasure seeing them like it will Tim Brand decides to chess someone with like five seconds left, and then the ball somehow ends up in the corner, they're complaining about it, and then they score, and then there's obviously a big celebration for from Rotterdam, and then they go on to lose the shootout.
- 28:16SPEAKER_03: Um, which you're like there's a good bit of karma there, but apart from that the the weekend then finished with uh Surrey, Derby, Wimbledon, Surbiton to go through to the last eight.
- 28:29SPEAKER_03: Um Serbiton are much better on paper.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: I think they've got a really, really stacked team, and but it still ended up a really exciting game.
- 28:38SPEAKER_03: And Serbiton won 3-2.
- 28:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think I think all four teams that deserve to go through have gone through.
- 28:44SPEAKER_02: Um I think I think Rotterdam Hamburger was gonna be it could either one of those teams come could come through, but I think fair play to Rotterdam for not only scoring with five seconds left, but then also to win on shootout, I think's actually like pretty sick.
- 28:58SPEAKER_03: Um you now just repeating what I've said in a different way because you didn't watch it.
- 29:03SPEAKER_02: No, I'm just agreeing.
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: I watched the highlights, but I think if you look on paper, those are the four teams that you're gonna you were gonna pick to go through, probably.
- 29:11SPEAKER_02: I just didn't watch it live.
- 29:13SPEAKER_02: Sorry, mate.
- 29:15SPEAKER_03: Sorry, I didn't even realise you watched the highlights.
- 29:18SPEAKER_03: You said you didn't watch them because you didn't watch the coverage.
- 29:20SPEAKER_03: You said the angle.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's what that's what I meant.
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I watched it watched the highlights, of course I did, but so you can't really get a feel for three minutes of footage, can you?
- 29:32SPEAKER_00: Jesus maybe we should go to a break.
- 29:38SPEAKER_03: See you after the break.
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: Alright, we're back.
- 29:46SPEAKER_03: We are gonna go straight into the hockey India League auction as that has been a very exciting couple of days of our time.
- 29:54SPEAKER_03: Now, before I probably monologue my way, you have have you enjoyed spectating?
- 30:00SPEAKER_03: Brendan, have you enjoyed spectating?
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: Well, I actually I actually really enjoyed.
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: I thought it was really funny and uh like uh by the way, the marketing from India uh they were clearly on a budget with the marketing, they they clearly didn't have any money left to like market it a bit.
- 30:21SPEAKER_00: They they they came up with some amazing um uh videos.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: So if you're if you want to if you want a uh a small laugh, please go to the Hockey India League uh Instagram, you'll find some gems, absolute gems of marketing videos.
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, ask which one was your favorite?
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: Uh it gotta be the one with uh the guys taking a picture of a screen and then the screen just said auction in one day.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: Although the one with the with the guys who who walked in with the paper was also really cool.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: Uh, but I don't want to spoil it for people because it it's like the first time you see it, you'll actually like probably shit yourself.
- 31:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, also, I mean the font as well, even the font on the paper is I think Times New Roman.
- 31:06SPEAKER_03: I thought they could have at least changed that.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, it was simply amazing.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: So uh, but then the the auction uh um uh started, and the setup looked like what I imagined it to be like six tables really close to or eight tables really close to each other, and guys had like this hockey stick with their name on it.
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: Um, I watched the first day uh on Sunday, it was um um and it was kind of around our match.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't want to sound really big time, but we have uh a video screen in our locker room.
- 31:39SPEAKER_00: Uh so someone like popped in their uh uh laptop uh and we actually watched the auction part of the auction live.
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: Um incredibly funny because we saw Piotr.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: The first day they took ages to auction someone, like it took like 12 minutes for someone to get the auction.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: It was like uh okay, it's uh 70,000 going once, and then they said another six times going once, and they said another six times going twice, and then uh apparently yeah, for for sure, people will get bored and at some point think okay, fuck it, I'll spend another uh two lakh.
- 32:13SPEAKER_00: Um so that was really funny.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, it it like India never ceases to uh to um to disappoint or to amaze me.
- 32:21SPEAKER_00: It was um it was incredible.
- 32:24SPEAKER_00: But there's also some yeah.
- 32:27SPEAKER_03: Do you want me to can I can I go, Brent, or do you want to go?
- 32:30SPEAKER_02: Uh I do know what I'll let you go because I think you're gonna tell the story better than we will.
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: We're very happy though that you that you that you like came back from Siberia that actually are the one guy that got out of Siberia and came to this podcast.
- 32:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I've made it back only just right.
- 32:46SPEAKER_03: Let's start right.
- 32:47SPEAKER_03: So I did say me and Ames are in the car the other day.
- 32:49SPEAKER_03: I did say, like, before the auction, you're like, this is gonna be chaos and carnage somehow, and you just don't know how.
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: Um you you first of all, like, let's give some context as the boys what they're saying is like you Pen Brent ended up not entering the HL auction.
- 33:04SPEAKER_03: I did put my name in at 10 lakhs.
- 33:07SPEAKER_03: I wasted all day yesterday to pop up, popped up at it was two or three hours into the auction this morning and got sent straight to Siberia.
- 33:16SPEAKER_03: Phil Roper unsold.
- 33:18SPEAKER_02: Unsold with with the hammer, just out of interest.
- 33:23SPEAKER_02: Like how how humbling is that feeling?
- 33:26SPEAKER_02: Like, is it like weird?
- 33:29SPEAKER_03: I mean, the silence lasts for a way, ages before they say unsold.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: What what's worse?
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: Being picked last at your local football uh 11v11 uh captains have to pick, or not being bought in hockey in helicoption.
- 33:44SPEAKER_03: What I mean I was I did feel slightly better seeing the other names that didn't get bought.
- 33:49SPEAKER_03: So I mean I ended up like my ego has definitely been dented, but I but I think I'd much prefer to be left in the hockey India League than being on the school playground last.
- 33:58SPEAKER_03: That would be tough.
- 33:59SPEAKER_03: That's fair.
- 33:59SPEAKER_03: That's fair, right?
- 34:01SPEAKER_03: So so so some in some information now.
- 34:03SPEAKER_03: I really don't want to come across bitter now.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: So if I do, I'll I'll trust both of you to call me out.
- 34:09SPEAKER_03: I'm just gonna try and try and say stuff bitter, but fuck you, Indian team.
- 34:17SPEAKER_03: But go on.
- 34:18SPEAKER_03: Right, okay.
- 34:19SPEAKER_03: So the not sure really how it was organized, but first of all, go it was done in lakhs, um, and that is an Indian currency, and roughly one lakh is about 900 pounds, so 900 pounds or something, so it's like 20 lakhs is around 18,000 pounds, just to give people some context.
- 34:38SPEAKER_03: Um, they started with the Indian Olympic team, obviously, so that they could go for all of the big money.
- 34:45SPEAKER_03: Then they sporadically like flitted between Indian players, foreign players, and like Yupe said, it ended up just taking like a ridiculous amount of time uh to a point where like the whole room looked like they were gonna fall asleep, and then they ended up just whacking a load of foreigners, started day two, and and they really did speed up the process.
- 35:07SPEAKER_03: Yesterday it was like it was like really take your time.
- 35:10SPEAKER_03: It's like going once, going once.
- 35:11SPEAKER_03: It was like going once, going twice, right?
- 35:13SPEAKER_03: Unsold, see you later, right?
- 35:14SPEAKER_03: Off to Siberia, off you go.
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: It was the next name.
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: Like the woman had clearly been told, hurry the fuck up, it's taking too long.
- 35:21SPEAKER_03: Um, I did get a feeling that if you went, apparently they were all players were kind of like randomly assigned, so you might go on day one in the categories, or you might just go in the whacked in the rest of the group.
- 35:32SPEAKER_03: I did do have a feeling that if you went on day one, you had a much better chance of being picked because it seems like all of the teams went, Oh, that guy's pretty good.
- 35:41SPEAKER_03: We'll put a we'll have a punt on him.
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, oh, might as well.
- 35:45SPEAKER_03: There he goes.
- 35:46SPEAKER_03: Because I'll give you a very easy example before we get started.
- 35:50SPEAKER_03: Is that um Alexander Hendricks?
- 35:54SPEAKER_03: Well, Gonzalo Paliat went for 68 lakhs, so he's gone for a fair whack.
- 36:00SPEAKER_03: Now, Hendricks on went on day two and he only went for 23.
- 36:04SPEAKER_03: So, you know, you've got two of the best drag flicks in the world, and there's quite a big difference there.
- 36:09SPEAKER_03: Right, I'm gonna stop talking, guys, before we get on to the stuff.
- 36:12SPEAKER_00: I want to uh pitch in here.
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: Um, what I think has happened, uh what I know has happened is there were a lot of head coaches there, but there were also quite a lot of head coaches not there.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: I feel like some of the wrong people were in the in the in the wrong place.
- 36:28SPEAKER_00: Um they thought, fuck, I need this player.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: Oh, I reserved about 60,000 uh luck for for this guy.
- 36:35SPEAKER_00: Oh fuck, now it's 75.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: I think some guys had seven, some teams had seven players and only had 150 luck left.
- 36:43SPEAKER_00: Like they were in serious trouble.
- 36:45SPEAKER_00: I feel like some people just didn't have any money left, and they were like, oh fuck, we had 80,000 reserved for Hendrix, but we only have 15 left.
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: I feel like that's what happened.
- 36:57SPEAKER_00: They were saying, yeah, the wrong person had the paddle as a lunatic, and then at a certain point they thought, oh fuck, no, we don't have any money left.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: And I feel like I now I know it 1000 makes a difference whether you were in pot one or in pot two.
- 37:13SPEAKER_00: The the the differences in in amounts were insane.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: Like, let's let's just name out one Jonas de Geus going for 11,000 or 11 lakh.
- 37:25SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, not completely biased here, so let's take that in account.
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: But one of the best midfielders in the world, Mats Grambus is unsold, one of the best midfielders in the world.
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: And those guys who I I cannot name, I don't know any like particular names that have been bought for like 25,000, 30.
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: I'm like, okay, that's just right.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: Do you know?
- 37:45SPEAKER_00: Don't worry, you I've got it all.
- 37:46SPEAKER_02: Do you know it all down?
- 37:48SPEAKER_02: I've I've I've I've just got like you know when we did our draft, right?
- 37:52SPEAKER_02: And I went and basically picked basically you guys spent a lot of money on bigger plays, and I basically went, Oh, so and so's left, I'll take him for the lowest amount.
- 38:00SPEAKER_02: That's what it feels like's happened, is they've basically waited to see who's left and then been like, Oh, I'll take Draper for five.
- 38:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'll take him for five lakh rather than spending like more.
- 38:08SPEAKER_02: Do you know what I mean?
- 38:09SPEAKER_00: I feel like there were there were like eight malls in charge, and they were all like, Oh, yeah, fuck it, let's spend some fucking money.
- 38:18SPEAKER_03: You literally on the TV did see them looking at each other yesterday.
- 38:21SPEAKER_03: It's day one.
- 38:22SPEAKER_03: It's day they're looking at yesterday, they're like, We were we didn't want this guy, but screw it, put up the paddle, yeah.
- 38:28SPEAKER_03: Why not?
- 38:29SPEAKER_03: Let's have a go.
- 38:29SPEAKER_03: Day two, they're like, We fucked it yesterday.
- 38:33SPEAKER_03: Do not do not raise that fucking paddle.
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you almost saw people like wanting to stick with the thing, but look in their wallet, they were like, Oh fuck, we still need seven players to fill up our squad, and we only have ten left.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: Like that it was it was really funny though, as it as in it was incredible like, don't get me wrong, I don't it I I don't dislike Hendricks or whatever, but it's really funny though that one of the the best corner in the world is only going for 23,000.
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: That for Floral von Albel, in my opinion, one of the better players still there is went for 20 23 25.
- 39:09SPEAKER_00: Like yeah, 25.
- 39:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, go on, Phil.
- 39:12SPEAKER_02: You you go through it because I think it's like we'll talk backwards.
- 39:15SPEAKER_03: So, first of all, I'll give the information on the top four players.
- 39:19SPEAKER_03: Harmon Prix obviously went for the top, he went for 78 lakhs.
- 39:23SPEAKER_03: Uh Abishek went for 72, Hardick went for 70, um, and then Gonzalo Payak went for 68, Yip Piansen went for 54, and then you've got a whole bunch of um Indians, basically the top 16 Indian players.
- 39:37SPEAKER_03: We can get on to some of the other ones.
- 39:38SPEAKER_03: I I wrote down three categories that I sent to these guys.
- 39:40SPEAKER_03: Now, Yup said he hasn't looked, so you know we we can chip in here, but I went for biggest rejections, who's been overpriced, and who has been a steal, and then I added one on the extra to say like who what's a good price for the general like market that we've seen in the last two days.
- 39:58SPEAKER_03: Um, Brenn, did you want to chip in anywhere before I start?
- 40:02SPEAKER_02: No, I think you start and we'll go through we'll go through each category.
- 40:05SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 40:06SPEAKER_03: So biggest rejections, I think you already named one is Matt Scrambush, um, World Cup winning captain, uh, one of the best midfielders in the world.
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: Uh he just you know saw the crickets.
- 40:16SPEAKER_03: He's he's straight to Siberia.
- 40:18SPEAKER_03: Where you were absolutely I was pretty gobsmack when I saw that.
- 40:26SPEAKER_03: Um next one, a couple of Australians, um, Andrew Charter, Jacob Wetton, both I would say definitely worthy of being picked up.
- 40:35SPEAKER_03: Um, yep, straight away they've gone to uh gone um a lot of RGs went unsold, but I'll probably the pick of the bunch.
- 40:45SPEAKER_03: You've got uh Augustine Mazzilli, you've got uh Bugarlo, who's also a really nice player, and unsolds.
- 40:53SPEAKER_03: You've got a bunch of GB players, which you know we're obviously gonna be a bit biased, but you've got um Sam Ward, who's scored over a hundred international goals as a drag flicker, a goal scorer, yeah, just goes unsold.
- 41:07SPEAKER_03: You got Liam Ansell, you've got David Ames.
- 41:10SPEAKER_00: Umsold I love when they don't went unsold.
- 41:16SPEAKER_02: Do you know what we should have done?
- 41:17SPEAKER_00: We should have done our own you're the auctioneer.
- 41:22SPEAKER_02: We should have done our own with you as the auctioneer.
- 41:24SPEAKER_02: I think that would have just been amazing.
- 41:26SPEAKER_02: A live feed.
- 41:29SPEAKER_03: So apart from Matt's, which one's the biggest one that you think there?
- 41:33SPEAKER_03: Like, is it is there any that that stand out to you or any that that I've missed out?
- 41:38SPEAKER_02: I think I think Matt's Matt's is ridiculous.
- 41:41SPEAKER_02: Like, let's actually like he's a World Cup winning captain a year ago, and he's gone unsold.
- 41:48SPEAKER_02: Like, that is like that is bonkers.
- 41:50SPEAKER_02: I think Ward, I think Wardy and Ansel is interesting because Ansel plays his best hockey in India.
- 41:55SPEAKER_02: Um, but Wardie, like Ansel's not really a big name.
- 41:59SPEAKER_00: Like for me, honest Sam Ward.
- 42:00SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, Wardy's a big name.
- 42:02SPEAKER_00: Pretty big name in the in the game.
- 42:03SPEAKER_00: He's a striker with a corner.
- 42:05SPEAKER_00: So that for me that would always be interesting as if if you were like a coach, I feel like uh Grambush is by far the biggest like snob.
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: Uh would have 1000% thought that he would he would have been bought.
- 42:18SPEAKER_00: It's only 10.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: If that's his starting bits, no one puts up their thing for 10.
- 42:22SPEAKER_02: I I just if you if you if you also look at like all the flickers, like all the flickers in the world have basically gone for pretty high amounts to then not be even picked up, I think's pretty big as well as a flicker.
- 42:35SPEAKER_02: Like that takes a lot, I think.
- 42:37SPEAKER_02: For wards, yeah, like ward flicks, like Ansel flicks, like ultimately that's like an a commodity that let's face it in the Indian hockey league is pretty important, and they've still not been picked up, which I think is quite interesting.
- 42:48SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, and that now the fun stuff is that like who's been overpriced now.
- 42:55SPEAKER_03: Again, I think these might be day one, and and I could get into the overpriced Indians, but I don't I think we're just gonna take that straight off the table because there was there was a bunch of um you know guys who don't have caps, who've got five caps, who are going for 30, 40 lakhs, and you're like, okay, this makes absolutely no sense.
- 43:14SPEAKER_00: We do gotta we gotta put in a little asterisk, is that you you could only have, and I don't know if people know it, you could only have eight foreign players in your team.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: Uh out of the eight, only five are allowed to be in the field at the same time.
- 43:26SPEAKER_00: So uh let's say all the goalies were like heavily underpriced, but I think no no team really wants to wants a foreign goalie because it would take out your option to bring in another in field player.
- 43:40SPEAKER_00: So you can only have four players uh like uh at the same time in.
- 43:45SPEAKER_00: So for me, that's like a that's a good big aspect.
- 43:48SPEAKER_00: And every team needed to have six, I think six under twenty one players in their team.
- 43:53SPEAKER_00: So probably like it's a bit of a leak of their own.
- 43:56SPEAKER_00: So there was an under 21 player who went for 42, like a striker.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: Uh but if you yeah, if you have like good Indian players, they are worth more because uh like six of them have to be in the field at all times, as in like a good foreign player if that makes sense.
- 44:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:13SPEAKER_03: You raise you raise a fair point.
- 44:14SPEAKER_03: I just thought that still the money is somebody's going for is is is crazy.
- 44:19SPEAKER_03: But anyway, I'll get on to the who I think has been overpriced, unless you guys want to start.
- 44:25SPEAKER_03: No, you go.
- 44:26SPEAKER_03: Okay, so I'll just I'll I think I'll just list them off.
- 44:30SPEAKER_03: Tim Howard from Australia going for 20.
- 44:33SPEAKER_03: I think is is overpriced.
- 44:34SPEAKER_03: I think Lars Balak did insanely well coming in early yesterday, and he's gone for 40 just as a just as a defender non-flicker.
- 44:43SPEAKER_03: Uh Rackissons from Spain has gone for 15.
- 44:48SPEAKER_03: Venier has gone for 40.
- 44:50SPEAKER_03: Again, it's it's it's very, very high.
- 44:52SPEAKER_03: Domine went for 36, insanely high.
- 44:56SPEAKER_03: Davy Hart, who is, you know, it must be must be having some links out there, as well went for 32, the highest paid goalie.
- 45:03SPEAKER_03: Aaron Zalouski is a very good player, but going for 27, I'm not sure that's you know difficult.
- 45:09SPEAKER_03: Uh you po I'm gonna annoy you now because Sam Lane went for 27, and I think that's that's a bit too high.
- 45:16SPEAKER_03: I think why uh Kane Russell went for 30.
- 45:22SPEAKER_03: Your mate Duco Tongle Camp went for 37, and Payout went for 68.
- 45:27SPEAKER_03: Now, just from the the the I'm talking about what we've seen in the last two days, I think all of them are either way too high or slightly too high.
- 45:38SPEAKER_02: Can I can I just can I just say one thing?
- 45:41SPEAKER_02: Tonglecamp is the latest pronunciation of that name that we have got so far wrong, and it is so good.
- 45:48SPEAKER_00: It's Delvin Gomp.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: Tonglecamp.
- 45:55SPEAKER_00: Delvin Gomp.
- 45:57SPEAKER_02: Del Hun Gomp.
- 46:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so Tongle Camp went for 37.
- 46:03SPEAKER_02: Uh is Tim Howard the most expensive non-Olympian from the foreign players?
- 46:12SPEAKER_02: Because I think that's quite I think that's quite interesting.
- 46:14SPEAKER_00: Hetzberger went for 20 something.
- 46:17SPEAKER_02: 22 or 23.
- 46:19SPEAKER_02: That's better.
- 46:19SPEAKER_02: Um I think what this is what I mean is really interesting.
- 46:22SPEAKER_02: Is Domine's obviously also I'm sorry.
- 46:25SPEAKER_00: You speak over me, mate.
- 46:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, crack on.
- 46:27SPEAKER_00: No, but what I want to add another which you will love, Brendan, is Rubin the Paul.
- 46:31SPEAKER_00: He also got sold for I think 15 or something.
- 46:34SPEAKER_00: No, he didn't.
- 46:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 46:37SPEAKER_00: No, not what has quit hockey three years ago.
- 46:42SPEAKER_00: He's been sold for I think 13 or 50 luck.
- 46:45SPEAKER_00: No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 46:46SPEAKER_02: You're lying, you're lying, you're lying, you're lying.
- 46:48SPEAKER_03: No, that is true.
- 46:48SPEAKER_03: Brent, Brent, that's true when you're looking that up.
- 46:50SPEAKER_03: Are you you watch your take on the overpriced players?
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: I just want Brennan's reaction of the ball being bought for 15 luck.
- 47:01SPEAKER_00: Phenomenal.
- 47:02SPEAKER_00: I'm on board.
- 47:03SPEAKER_02: He has stopped playing hockey for I think at least three years or something.
- 47:07SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, this is ridiculous, isn't it?
- 47:10SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, I just think it's really interesting.
- 47:15SPEAKER_02: Like, as you say, like Davy Hart, like I appreciate he played in the Indian hockey league last time, and he probably had a pretty good Olympics.
- 47:20SPEAKER_02: I didn't watch much of Ireland, but like to be the most expensive goalkeeper takes a lot, I think.
- 47:26SPEAKER_02: Like, considering how and by like a considerable margin ahead of like Perman, for example.
- 47:31SPEAKER_03: Um Permine Perman went for 25, Permanbly went for 25, Danaberg went for 27, and Ollie Payne went for 15.
- 47:38SPEAKER_03: Um, and charter didn't even get sold.
- 47:40SPEAKER_03: Charter didn't get sold.
- 47:42SPEAKER_03: Um, big James Mazzarello all the way also went for 13, all the way up from 5 lakhs.
- 47:47SPEAKER_03: What a man.
- 47:49SPEAKER_00: So I I think too.
- 47:50SPEAKER_00: Oh, sorry, Ben, you wanted to go.
- 47:53SPEAKER_02: No, I was just trying to I was just trying to work it all out because it's like there's so many random like people that come out of nowhere.
- 48:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for me, for me, I think uh David Hart is not like I don't think 32 for David Hart is a really big I think he is still is one of the best goalies in the world, even though he played he just unlucky plays for Ireland.
- 48:11SPEAKER_00: I've I see him every week at Campong.
- 48:13SPEAKER_00: He still isn't yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 48:14SPEAKER_00: I'm there's no denial there, but I think the guy I just like for me, Oli Payne is heavily uh undersold.
- 48:20SPEAKER_00: I think Pierreman Black is heavily undersold.
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: I think uh Dunnenberg, in my opinion, is a bit too expensive.
- 48:26SPEAKER_00: I don't think he's near Piram and Black or Oli Payne at the moment.
- 48:29SPEAKER_00: I think he's a really good goalie, but like he's not uh he's not better than any of those, so I would not have uh been too keen on him.
- 48:38SPEAKER_00: Um I do think I agree with most of the guys you said are uh are being uh a bit overpriced.
- 48:45SPEAKER_00: Um, I do want to say, and that's what that's what I I could kind of like don't get me wrong, I feel like uh uh Lars Balek um, for instance, is not a better hockey player than Arty van Doris, for instance, who has won the world player of the year three times.
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: So it's a bit uh that he is worth more than a guy like that.
- 49:04SPEAKER_00: But what I do get is that uh it India will be chaos.
- 49:09SPEAKER_00: Uh India will it will be a team with like a lot of uh uh guys who have no clue what they're doing.
- 49:15SPEAKER_00: Uh shit will run run well, they have no clear idea about tactics and shit.
- 49:20SPEAKER_00: So to bring in a guy who's tactically very good, again, not saying it's worth 40,000 luck, but like I would like the tactic, no, but the tactic of bringing in a really good free defender who really knows how to position himself and who can like bring some like um uh uh structure into chaos, I think is worth a lot.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: So that's why I do get that that Ballock is like on the expensive side, if that makes sense, if you value that.
- 49:47SPEAKER_02: So, firstly, you that that was a great monologue to try and protect Lars.
- 49:52SPEAKER_02: I think the problem is is ultimately where we're coming from is the fact that there's so much inconsistency with what's gone on in this so auction.
- 49:59SPEAKER_02: So, for example, Venier going for 40 and Draper going for five is ridiculous.
- 50:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay, but bring yeah, yeah.
- 50:06SPEAKER_02: No, what I'm saying, what I'm saying is what I'm saying is it's none of the players' faults, it's nothing like that, but ultimately, ropes' point is back to the starting of this.
- 50:13SPEAKER_02: Ultimately, we're not sure how much strategy there's been in terms of signing players because there's clearly not a budget of how much are we willing to spend on a player.
- 50:22SPEAKER_02: It's we'll spend until we get that player and then we'll worry about everything else afterwards.
- 50:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I love detective.
- 50:30SPEAKER_03: It's entertainment, but also you could get four of Yorick Crohn's for one Victor Vignet.
- 50:36SPEAKER_03: Now, that to me is is a little strange, isn't it?
- 50:39SPEAKER_03: That's why I'm not saying I don't rate Vignet, but I'm saying that you know, if if Yorick Crohn is worth 10, then Venig is definitely not worth 40.
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: No, but then again, if I think you should like look at it.
- 50:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, stop trying to be all philosophical.
- 50:56SPEAKER_00: I'm just trying to say, like, it's not you shouldn't look at it like that.
- 50:58SPEAKER_00: I think like I think Vanier not had not not not had his best years.
- 51:05SPEAKER_00: So I feel like Vanier should have been way lower.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: I feel like Jonas, Jorit, uh, even Wallace should have been way higher.
- 51:12SPEAKER_00: They should have been.
- 51:12SPEAKER_00: If you're like objectively looking, I think those are the guys, Jonas, Jorit Krohn, uh, Zach Wallace, uh, Marz Grandbush, my opinion.
- 51:22SPEAKER_00: Uh guys like that are the guys who should have been around the 40k mark, my opinion.
- 51:26SPEAKER_00: If you look at how it's right now.
- 51:28SPEAKER_00: And I agree.
- 51:29SPEAKER_00: When you start if you start.
- 51:32SPEAKER_00: Guy I would have put them up in that category.
- 51:34SPEAKER_00: Um, I feel like that's what I what I struggle with.
- 51:38SPEAKER_00: I get why the why the why the why the drag flickers are being rated highly because they're important because they can score goals.
- 51:44SPEAKER_00: Hendricks, although it's really funny, he only went for 23.
- 51:48SPEAKER_00: Uh, this is a guy I would have put up in the 60s, 70s.
- 51:52SPEAKER_00: Uh, same for Payotte.
- 51:53SPEAKER_00: I don't really, yeah, for me, just a solid defender, doesn't do weird shit, has a high ball, and has a one of the best drag flicks in the world.
- 52:01SPEAKER_00: I get why he why he goes for a lot.
- 52:03SPEAKER_00: If you invest in a good keeper and a good goalie, uh a good goalie and a good corner, odds are you're gonna win the tournament.
- 52:09SPEAKER_03: So I I do I yeah, I I understand your point.
- 52:13SPEAKER_03: I think yeah, it's very difficult to try and find the consistency in the craziness.
- 52:18SPEAKER_03: But we've just gone from yeah, but we have a if we have then next one is next question was who is a steal?
- 52:26SPEAKER_03: So who's who's done the best business?
- 52:28SPEAKER_03: And you and I wrote down there's five or six here.
- 52:30SPEAKER_03: Is that Crone going for 10 is a steal, DeHoos is is going for 11 is a steal.
- 52:36SPEAKER_03: Mustafa Kassim went for 7.2, and he's you know a really, really nice player going for 7.2.
- 52:41SPEAKER_03: I think you're happy to get him.
- 52:43SPEAKER_03: Hendrix obviously going for 23.
- 52:45SPEAKER_03: We haven't even spoke about Blake Govers, who is also one of the best flickers in the world, who has scored a shared load of goals, who only went for 27.
- 52:53SPEAKER_03: Again, a probably a factor of being on day two.
- 52:57SPEAKER_03: Um, if his name comes up early on day one, I think he goes for minimum 45.
- 53:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, fair.
- 53:05SPEAKER_00: I've yeah, I agree.
- 53:06SPEAKER_00: I also I feel like a lot of guys went like on the that went on the last day were like no one had money left, like genuinely no one had any money left.
- 53:15SPEAKER_00: Like it was insane.
- 53:17SPEAKER_00: Like like you cannot sit in your chair and think yo let Crown, yo knows the ghost.
- 53:23SPEAKER_00: Like Lee Morton went for five or something, or ten, or what was it?
- 53:26SPEAKER_00: 10.
- 53:27SPEAKER_03: So the GB players I've written down is Zach Wallace went for 27 lakhs, Lee Morton went for 10, Wallace uh Jack Waller went for 10, Drapes went for five, mass uh James Mazarelli went for 13, Toby Reynolds Cottrell, who is the our third goalie, went for two.
- 53:46SPEAKER_03: And um Nick Bandrak, I think's just been released that he's been picked up in the he's been picked up from Siberia and dropped in the waves in the lands.
- 53:56SPEAKER_00: Sorry, didn't guy get get picked for two luck, mate.
- 54:00SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, you're sitting seven weeks during Christmas and during New Year's Eve for 2,000 euros in Rukela.
- 54:08SPEAKER_00: Oh mate, you probably have to give away half to to uh to what's it called?
- 54:14SPEAKER_00: To uh uh what's what's a text?
- 54:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the text.
- 54:18SPEAKER_00: Fucking hell, you'll come home with just like a nice experience being seven weeks in in the shithole that's called Rukela.
- 54:29SPEAKER_03: Um I I think the last category I did just to try and keep us moving forward, was like a a good price for the craziness that we've seen, or like a solid price, as you likes the word solid.
- 54:42SPEAKER_03: So I mean I'm sure you're gonna argue with me, but these are the guys that kind of fit in the middle where I was like, okay, at least they're getting paid a decent amount for being really a good players.
- 54:50SPEAKER_03: And that was like Brinkman's gone for 38, Tim Brand's gone for 28, Arthur Van Doren's gone for 32, Arthur Deslova's gone for 30, uh, Tom Boone's gone for 26, Zach Wallace gone for 26, uh Bockard went for 18, Van Obal went for 25, and Perman Black went for 25.
- 55:08SPEAKER_03: And I think like, yes, you could argue they could go for 27.
- 55:12SPEAKER_00: Pardon?
- 55:13SPEAKER_00: What about floors went for 27?
- 55:17SPEAKER_02: Also, I think you're like yeah, ropes, ropes, your put your your point.
- 55:20SPEAKER_02: I know your point's gonna be like ultimately we think they could go for more, but again, it just shows the inconsistency of like ultimately they're all those players we think should be between 30 and 50 in that bracket.
- 55:32SPEAKER_02: So again, like if that's the right ballpark figure, there's some people that they've clearly just not either not rated or they've just simply not had enough money for.
- 55:40SPEAKER_02: But it kind of goes to show like if there's a not a lack of strategy, but clearly the strategies are very different for them as to what we probably say.
- 55:47SPEAKER_00: Um if they had like a redraft and just swapped the the like the the pots.
- 55:53SPEAKER_00: What would have happened?
- 55:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, just to see that because I did I did hear from I don't know who told me.
- 55:59SPEAKER_00: Um oh no, I'm I'm I'm actually a journalist like protecting my source.
- 56:04SPEAKER_00: Some someone told me that there was a team who reserved 80,000 lux to get Hendrix, but all they had was to put or no, but because everyone else's money was gone at after 23, no one had money to bid them, they're just gonna for 23.
- 56:28SPEAKER_03: Because the sky just skets, put up your thing, we don't have any money it must be well, I mean in fairness, it must be quite difficult to decide how to go about that because you could lose a guy and you have your second choice and then your third choice.
- 56:44SPEAKER_03: I think the one thing, you sorry, that I want to do a spin around on was I forgot in our first special episode was that I already said that Duco Crump got picked for 37.
- 56:57SPEAKER_03: And we didn't, which is a bit of a real shame.
- 57:00SPEAKER_03: We didn't in the first episode talk about his Olympic shenanigans.
- 57:03SPEAKER_03: And um, for anyone uh knows what I'm talking about, is that he won the Olympic final for the Netherlands, then he ran 30 yards back to Danneberg and slapped him in the face and pointed in him, pointed in his face.
- 57:15SPEAKER_03: He became an instant villain um and got pretty famous for the wrong reasons.
- 57:20SPEAKER_03: We didn't talk about it, and I wanted first of all your opinion.
- 57:24SPEAKER_03: Obviously, you're gonna back your mate, I'm guessing, but then we'll maybe chip in a little bit as well.
- 57:29SPEAKER_00: About that he's been sought for 36, or about no no no, the la the villain bit.
- 57:35SPEAKER_02: Talk us through it.
- 57:36SPEAKER_03: The villain bit.
- 57:37SPEAKER_00: We didn't talk about it, no, no.
- 57:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's been a while.
- 57:44SPEAKER_00: Does anyone really give a shit anymore?
- 57:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's great.
- 57:47SPEAKER_03: It's great when he turns into Brendan, isn't it?
- 57:49SPEAKER_00: It was in the moment he did something stupid, he apologized.
- 57:53SPEAKER_00: I don't think it was such a big deal, to be honest.
- 57:56SPEAKER_00: It's just a bit of shithy.
- 57:58SPEAKER_00: He didn't smack the goalie, just gave him a little pat on the helmet.
- 58:02SPEAKER_00: Was it just you?
- 58:04SPEAKER_00: Just out of interest, did he did he really apologize or did he try and get away with not apologizing?
- 58:08SPEAKER_00: He really apologized, like as genuine as you can expect Duco Toko to apologize, right?
- 58:14SPEAKER_02: Okay, so we gave a Dutch apology rather than an actual apology.
- 58:17SPEAKER_00: No, he he he he apologized.
- 58:20SPEAKER_03: Um it's like the apot it's the apology that I get from Indy when she doesn't when she really doesn't want to say sorry.
- 58:27SPEAKER_03: I was like, You're gonna say sorry to Luca for smacking him, and she goes, sorry, Luca, and then she walks off in a huff.
- 58:34SPEAKER_00: No, it was he, I think he was it was a bit more genuine than it.
- 58:38SPEAKER_00: It was like um, yeah, he just he I don't think he was that sorry.
- 58:42SPEAKER_00: As in he did apologize, but he don't think he was really, really sorry about it.
- 58:47SPEAKER_00: Like, I think it all got got like a bit out of it.
- 58:50SPEAKER_00: Like, I think there um yeah, how do you say it?
- 58:53SPEAKER_00: I feel like it was really stupid.
- 58:55SPEAKER_00: I don't think anyone uh would have done anyone else could have done it or would have done it.
- 59:00SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't think anyone would have run 30 yards to a goalie to like uh shush him and slap him on the helmet.
- 59:07SPEAKER_00: Um on the other hand, was pretty funny.
- 59:11SPEAKER_00: Let's be honest.
- 59:12SPEAKER_03: I mean, it was I think it was probably good for hockey, but I've got two takes on it.
- 59:16SPEAKER_03: First of all, when it first happened, I was like, Oh, Dannenberg must have said something really bad, like he must have done something really bad.
- 59:24SPEAKER_03: And all he'd said in the press conference was that um like the Dutch are scared of us, and I was like, Well, that's just like it's not even something to get angry about, it's just like there's a goal, there's a my my second take is I I was really annoyed at Velen that uh he didn't smack him because because if you're like if you're like right the Olympics is done, I've already won a silver, this bloke's just slapped my goalie.
- 59:49SPEAKER_03: It's like the freest of three goes, like that there was more that there wasn't anything more than handbags because we were like, oh, Velen's lost his shit, what the hell is that about?
- 59:58SPEAKER_03: And then you saw it and you're like, Oh, he could have had a go there.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_02: You know, there's a there's a pit I'm sure there's a picture as well of Duco is it with his tongue out at Velen as well, from like a yard away.
- 1:00:09SPEAKER_02: Again, this boy must love to be the villain because that comes across real shitty.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I do think though, if there's someone in the hockey world you don't want to start a fight with, I think it's Duco, because the guy has done kickboxing for I think at least uh 10 years or whatever many years.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_00: He sometimes like jokingly like high kicks my okay, okay, Phil.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_00: Well, Philip, you you go at him then you with your big fucking mouth behind your mic, you go at him then once.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_03: No, it just sounds like it sounds like something off the in-between us.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_03: Oh, don't go near Duco because he did he's done taekwondo for 15 years.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_00: Look how funny you find yourself.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_00: Uh do you know what?
- 1:00:52SPEAKER_01: You you the problem is is Phil's so right.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_02: Phil is so right.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_02: It does sound like oh you're my mate Duco, he's a he's a world champion kickboxer for 12 years.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_00: I was just about to tell you sometimes jokingly gives me like a high kick and it really hurts.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_00: But then I'll also lose us all its credibility.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_00: Okay, I gotta admit, it sounded really douche me telling it, but but still, I I think Duco was putting his tongue out because he really was like, Yeah, if you hit me, I'm gonna kick the shit out of you.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_00: So that's that's all I wanted to say, and it is and he's really really strong.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_00: That's all I wanted to say.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, on that note.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_00: Sorry.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'm so glad.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_00: I'm just telling you, yeah, if you can have this big mouth and not be all you because you you always hate Duco, and he's genuinely one of like okay, not one of the nicest guys because he's like he can be kind of a dick, but he's like, I really love him.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_00: I love him with all my heart.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_00: Have this big mouth in front of him next time as well.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_00: That is so nice.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_00: I haven't even said anything.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_02: I've actually had a go at you.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_02: That is so so good.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_02: You have you have lost it, mate.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I absolutely love it.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_03: We got you Pon the closet for the first time in season seven.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_03: I just I'm just sticking with my boy.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_03: No, no, no, and and we have to expect you to do that.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_03: I just we had to bring it up.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_03: It's it was it was huge news, and it like you said, it's it's probably good for hockey.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_03: I mean that's two for and it and it sets like great precedence for like when they can the Dutch and you play you play the Germans next time.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_03: I think that'll set really nice uh headlines.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, 100%.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_03: You come on, come on.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_03: It's all fun and games.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm over in a Siberia.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_00: Well I'm just I'm just thinking because she brought up also being 21.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_00: What's his how old is he?
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_00: 21, 22?
- 1:02:50SPEAKER_00: Scoring the scoring the the winning goal to win Olympic gold for the first time in 24 years.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_00: Like you're allowed to be somewhat of a twat afterwards, right?
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_00: A twat.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you are.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_00: I just think he's like he got me a gold medal, so I don't give a shit.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's fine.
- 1:03:08SPEAKER_00: We can't argue that.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think it's a really nice way to end um because we're gonna have to end.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_03: Um let's sit together.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_03: Season seven, episode two, brought to you by Y One.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_03: Um yeah, hopefully you've enjoyed the episode where we've uh talked a lot of news and the the hill, as you call it.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_03: Um it's been an absolute pleasure being in a room with you both again.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_03: Um hopefully we will see you next week.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_00: Maybe we should put up like a like a poll um of who they want out for next episode.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_00: Who's getting the booth?
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_00: Like, that's really funny.
- 1:04:10SPEAKER_00: Let's be honest.
- 1:04:13SPEAKER_00: I think I'm gone.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_03: No, because if I was a viewer, I'd vote for me because then you two trying to host an episode, I would pay to see that.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_00: I 1000% agree.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_00: Me and Brenda would be absolutely amazing.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_00: Like, maybe we could bring in David Ames as a guest.
