Speaker 5: about this week, including the USA Pro Road National Championship. So,
• 3:11
Speaker 5: folks are already in town and have been for some time,
• 3:15
Speaker 5: and you're going to start to see some road closures
• 3:17
Speaker 5: today and through the week. And there's more information about

Speaker 5: what is going to be closed on the various social

• 3:31
Speaker 5: Coming up on the show, Danny Jones will join us,
• 3:33
Speaker 5: But I want to talk about another big event happening
• 3:35
Speaker 5: in the area this week, and it's Yakfest and Tour
• 3:37
Speaker 5: Deicle in sant Albans. Dave Rucker joins us along with
• 3:41
Speaker 5: Christy Jenkins from Canon Valley Tourism. Dave, good morning, and
• 3:44
Speaker 5: welcome to the show.
• 3:45
Speaker 2: Good morning, Thank you for having us, sir.
• 3:46
Speaker 5: Christy, thank you for being here as well.
• 3:48
  Speaker 6: Thank you.
• 3:48
Speaker 5: Now you were telling me you're in the break that
• 3:50
Speaker 5: you're also a Sherman Tide Alum, Is that right?
• 3:52
Speaker 7: I am Roll Tide.
• 3:53
Speaker 5: Roll Tide with congratulations to the Tide. It's you and TJ.
• 3:57
Speaker 5: Meadows both pretty happy this morning, absolutely, and mister Rucker,
• 4:02
Speaker 5: I guess you are.
• 4:03
Speaker 8: And a red dragon here. I'm pretty happy about our
• 4:06
Speaker 8: state champion baseball team.
• 4:07
Speaker 5: Well and Logan Wan Logan made it there, that's right.
• 4:10
Speaker 5: So that's what we got. Logan made it there, that's
• 4:12
Speaker 5: all right. I said this on the show the other day.
• 4:13
Speaker 5: You know, everybody thinks about Logan as being a basketball school,
• 4:18
Speaker 5: and but we've won state championships in girls basketball. We've
• 4:20
Speaker 5: won eight state championships in baseball. The only thing we're
• 4:25
Speaker 5: really not good at is football. That's about it.
• 4:28
Speaker 8: You know, it happened that Saint Albans is rebuilding our program,
• 4:32
Speaker 8: new coach, hopefully to get that going here in the
• 4:34
  Speaker 8: coming years.
• 4:35
Speaker 5: All right, So we got the tour to Cole and
• 4:37
Speaker 5: Yakfest going on, and David and Christik here, what's this
• 4:41
Speaker 5: talk about that? Talk about Yakfest and in a broad sense,
• 4:44
Speaker 5: and we'll break it down from that.
• 4:45
Speaker 8: Yakfest is is the pre game, the post game, the
• 4:49
Speaker 8: everything around the tour to Cole. You know, tourd Cole
• 4:52
Speaker 8: had all these folks floating through town, and we did
• 4:54
Speaker 8: not really capture much with Yakfest. We we brought this
• 4:58
Speaker 8: on coming up. We were just talking. I think next
• 5:00
Speaker 8: year will be our tenth year if I'm doing my
• 5:02
Speaker 8: math right there. But we come in and give everybody
• 5:06
Speaker 8: something to do on Friday night leading up to the
• 5:08
Speaker 8: Tour Deicole. We'll start at four o'clock with local musicians playing,
• 5:13
Speaker 8: and then we'll end at ten o'clock with the Davidson Brothers.
• 5:16
Speaker 8: Before the Davison Brothers going off will be Braden Williamson
• 5:19
Speaker 8: band out of Logan.
• 5:21
Speaker 5: So actually graduated high school with Braden's mom. Okay, okay,
• 5:25
Speaker 5: I'll tell you something awesome people tales here. Well, you know,
• 5:28
Speaker 5: we like all ages.
• 5:29
Speaker 8: We're trying to hit all ages to come out on
• 5:31
Speaker 8: Main Street on Friday and Saturday, and then all of
• 5:34
Speaker 8: our bands this year hitting in West Virginia Day on
• 5:36
Speaker 8: the twentieth. Everybody is a West Virginia born and bred
• 5:40
Speaker 8: or West Virginia resident one of the others.
• 5:42
Speaker 5: And the Davison Brothers are fantastic. Oh yeah, and I
• 5:45
Speaker 5: have actually done a show I Am Seed, an event
• 5:47
Speaker 5: with the Soda Pop Gypsys one time. They're they're really
• 5:49
  Speaker 5: good as.
• 5:50
Speaker 8: Well, they are Soda Pop, Gypsy's on Saturday and Aristotle.
• 5:53
Speaker 8: Jones is that these these bands are really going to
• 5:56
Speaker 8: bring a lot of fun. When we were trying to
• 5:58
Speaker 8: aim at them, it was a lively environment. What'll really
• 6:00
Speaker 8: get the street going with the street vendors, the raffles
• 6:03
Speaker 8: that we have gone huge prizes to win out there
• 6:06
Speaker 8: thanks to partly in Canaal Valley Tourism has given some
• 6:09
Speaker 8: prizes for Regatta Knights to give away. We have giveaways
• 6:12
Speaker 8: for Marty Grawl, Casino, Devil's Backbone Venture Resort and hat
• 6:16
Speaker 8: Film McCoy Trail, Saint Albans gift basket over worth over
• 6:20
Speaker 8: five hundred dollars in a kayak that you can float
• 6:22
Speaker 8: down next year on the tour to cole with if
• 6:24
  Speaker 8: you'd like.
• 6:24
Speaker 5: And Christy's with us in your the destination marketing and
• 6:29
Speaker 5: content manager for Kanal Valley Tours, I'm talking about your
• 6:32
Speaker 5: group's rolling all this.
• 6:34
Speaker 7: So basically we're a small but mighty CVB over here
• 6:37
Speaker 7: at Kanaal Valley Tourism and we just partner with small
• 6:41
Speaker 7: businesses and fairs and festivals and events and make sure
• 6:44
Speaker 7: that they get highlighted, especially these smaller towns. We just
• 6:49
Speaker 7: want to make sure that not just the people in
• 6:52
Speaker 7: kanawh County know about this, but people outside of Kanaw County.
• 6:55
Speaker 7: So we really want to bring in everybody from California
• 6:59
  Speaker 7: to Maine.
• 7:00
Speaker 5: Want you here and talk about how big the Tour
• 7:02
Speaker 5: to Coal is because people literally do come in for
• 7:05
Speaker 5: this thing from all over the country.
• 7:07
Speaker 8: So I'll say we had two years ago, we had
• 7:11
Speaker 8: some some placer AI data, some cell phone pinging data,
• 7:15
Speaker 8: and it hit to twenty seven different states.
• 7:18
Speaker 5: Twenty seven different states came to Saint Albans.
• 7:20
Speaker 8: Yes, floated through our town and at that time it
• 7:23
Speaker 8: was thirty five hundred people on that day thirty five
• 7:27
Speaker 8: just over thirty five hundred and again twenty seven states.
• 7:30
Speaker 8: So we're bringing people in from all over the country.
• 7:33
Speaker 8: This is one of the largest flat water floats on
• 7:36
Speaker 8: this side in the country, especially on this side of
• 7:38
  Speaker 8: the Missipiary.
• 7:39
Speaker 5: I mean it is like it's the flatwater capital of
• 7:41
Speaker 5: the world. Yes, but you all call yourself right, yeah,
• 7:43
Speaker 5: and I will float And I do think it's great
• 7:46
Speaker 5: because Tour to Coal has been going on for some time.
• 7:49
Speaker 5: But as you said, what happens a lot of times
• 7:51
Speaker 5: with these events like this and they're great, they're fantastic.
• 7:54
Speaker 5: But people come in and they do the floating thing,
• 7:57
Speaker 5: which is good, but a lot of times the town
• 8:00
Speaker 5: they don't really get to see a lot of the town.
• 8:02
Speaker 5: They don't get to spend a lot of you know,
• 8:04
Speaker 5: time or money exact the town. And this is where
• 8:07
Speaker 5: you guys come in because you pretty much turn in
• 8:09
Speaker 5: turn Old Maine and Saint Albans into one big giant
• 8:11
Speaker 5: party for this thing all weekend.
• 8:13
Speaker 8: And like I said, we kick off on four o'clock
• 8:15
Speaker 8: on Friday, we go to ten o'clock. We open up
• 8:18
Speaker 8: again on two o'clock on Saturday, go to ten o'clock. Oh,
• 8:21
Speaker 8: I forgot to say all day long. We have a
• 8:23
Speaker 8: giant water slide for the kids to come float down
• 8:25
Speaker 8: on or play on. That'll be off the side a
• 8:28
Speaker 8: little bit, but there to enjoy as well. So really
• 8:30
Speaker 8: something for all to do. And then we really look
• 8:33
Speaker 8: forward to the future of it as well as we grow.
• 8:36
Speaker 8: You know, hat Phil McCoy, we're glad to have that
• 8:38
Speaker 8: cabin giveaway. Now that's on the other end of the trail.
• 8:42
Speaker 8: But you know, you got Tornado where they go in
• 8:44
Speaker 8: with the with the tor to coal that area is
• 8:46
Speaker 8: growing with hat Pill McCoy trails as well. So maybe
• 8:49
Speaker 8: that's the next leg that we see grow. Like you're saying,
• 8:52
Speaker 8: from what went from just Tor to Cole to Tor
• 8:55
Speaker 8: to Coal and yatfest. Maybe next week, next year or
• 8:58
Speaker 8: in the future they spend there were five days here, yeah,
• 9:01
Speaker 8: and on on multi different you know, the street, the river,
• 9:05
Speaker 8: the trails hit all of them.
• 9:06
Speaker 5: At the restaurants too. Yeah. You know pat our goal,
• 9:08
Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, but Dave Allen showing five dye line is
• 9:11
Speaker 5: brought to you, apar bye. The Charleston Dirty Birds Birds
• 9:13
Speaker 5: are on the road starting tomorrow at Hagerstown. They're back
• 9:15
Speaker 5: at go mart Ballpark next Tuesday night to begin to
• 9:17
Speaker 5: see heares against York. Check out dirty Birds Baseball dot
• 9:20
Speaker 5: com for more information. And you know, guys, I've said
• 9:22
Speaker 5: this so often about West Virginia. Sometimes we have a
• 9:25
Speaker 5: tendency to take things for granted, you mentioned the hat
• 9:27
Speaker 5: film mcoy trail. I mean, I'm a southern West Virginia guy,
• 9:31
Speaker 5: and for years those mountains have been there, people have
• 9:32
Speaker 5: been riding those trails, and nobody ever thought a thing
• 9:35
Speaker 5: in the world about it. And then somewhere in the
• 9:37
Speaker 5: nineteen nineties, somebody said we ought to try to do
• 9:40
Speaker 5: something with this, and now it's a major, major industry,
• 9:44
Speaker 5: and the same with this. I mean, the tour to
• 9:46
Speaker 5: coal was was great. I mean it has been great
• 9:49
Speaker 5: and continues to be. But I think sometimes we take
• 9:53
Speaker 5: it for granted because it's it's always been there, and
• 9:55
Speaker 5: we forget that there are people in other areas that
• 10:00
Speaker 5: love this sort of stuff and want to come and
• 10:02
Speaker 5: spend money here. And Christy, that's that makes you happy.
• 10:05
Speaker 7: It does make me happy. It really makes me happy
• 10:07
Speaker 7: just to tell the story of all these events like
• 10:10
  Speaker 7: they're why. That's that's what's really important here is the
• 10:14
Speaker 7: why do we do this? Why? Why why do we
• 10:17
Speaker 7: float down the river? But it's really more than just
• 10:21
Speaker 7: floating down the river, and it's more about, you know,
• 10:25
Speaker 7: the community and things that we have to offer outside.
• 10:28
Speaker 8: Of just that, and to grow all the way across.
• 10:33
Speaker 8: Like you were saying, you know that that the trails,
• 10:35
Speaker 8: the growth that I mentioned Devil's Backbone Adventurers or they're
• 10:38
Speaker 8: they're going to open up a second one. So growth
• 10:40
Speaker 8: is happening on the trail to where more and more
• 10:43
Speaker 8: is coming and and what you might call that redneck rich.
• 10:46
Speaker 8: You know, they show up in these in these trucks
• 10:49
Speaker 8: and these trailers and it's like they jump out and
• 10:51
Speaker 8: you might not look at them as the rich guys,
• 10:53
Speaker 8: but man, they're they're pulling up a million dollar rigs there.
• 10:56
  Speaker 8: So it's there's there's an opportunity. You're right that there's
• 10:58
Speaker 8: there's a big opportunity to explain.
• 11:00
Speaker 5: It and the cleanliness of the whole thing, because there
• 11:03
Speaker 5: were there was a time years ago that you I'm
• 11:05
Speaker 5: not getting in that river, but but now it's.
• 11:10
Speaker 8: What I'll give a shout out to the tord to
• 11:12
Speaker 8: Coal and the Coal River Group folks. You know, that's
• 11:14
Speaker 8: that's their mission. That we have a mission to build
• 11:17
Speaker 8: Saint Albans, to build the community, to build uh the safety,
• 11:20
Speaker 8: youth and education programs.
• 11:22
  Speaker 5: That's our goal.
• 11:23
Speaker 8: We really focus in that two five one seven seven
• 11:26
Speaker 8: zip code and and the city limits itself tour to
• 11:29
Speaker 8: Coal and Coal River Group. Their mission was to make
• 11:32
Speaker 8: that river clean, and they have done a phenomenal job.
• 11:34
Speaker 8: They do river clean ups. They really have done awesome
• 11:37
Speaker 8: jobs and in making sure that you know, when we
• 11:40
Speaker 8: invite these people in from New York and all over
• 11:42
Speaker 8: the country, they're coming to see a community and an
• 11:45
Speaker 8: environment that is set up for enjoyment, pleasure and cleanliness.
• 11:50
Speaker 5: One of the great things I think about about Saint
• 11:52
Speaker 5: Albans uh is sometimes when these big events happen and
• 11:55
Speaker 5: you can go one of two ways. The businesses can
• 11:57
Speaker 5: either fully embrace it or And it's how in some
• 12:00
Speaker 5: areas where businesses will just say, well, we're not going
• 12:03
Speaker 5: to make any money this week, and we don't that
• 12:04
Speaker 5: you're taking away from our clientele. And maybe there's something
• 12:07
Speaker 5: to be said for that, I don't know, But the
• 12:08
Speaker 5: businesses in Saint Albans when you have these events. I've
• 12:11
Speaker 5: been a part of several events there, Jackfest, the fall
• 12:14
Speaker 5: Y'all Chili cook off and so on and so forth.
• 12:16
Speaker 5: These businesses in Saint Albans really support this.
• 12:20
Speaker 8: They do and and you know that that evolved over time.
• 12:24
Speaker 2: At the beginning there was.
• 12:27
Speaker 8: Right understood and there were things that me as a
• 12:30
Speaker 8: as a community volunteers, us as as the committee, we
• 12:34
Speaker 8: didn't think about the issues that might arise, and they
• 12:37
Speaker 8: brought them to our attention. We've worked well with community
• 12:39
Speaker 8: and they've worked well with us, and now I mean
• 12:41
Speaker 8: we have community support all the way across. Again, I
• 12:45
Speaker 8: mentioned that raffle. It's a five hundred dollars over five
• 12:47
Speaker 8: hundred dollars value, and every single piece of that is
• 12:51
Speaker 8: within the city of Saint Albans. It's gift cards, it's
• 12:54
Speaker 8: all be in theater, it's it's just different attractions of
• 12:57
Speaker 8: things that are all in Saint Albans. We're going at
• 12:59
Speaker 8: the best of Saint.
• 13:00
Speaker 5: Basket and and I think that's great because again, you're
• 13:02
Speaker 5: bringing these people in, some of whom have never been
• 13:05
Speaker 5: to Saint alban before. And you've got people in the
• 13:07
Speaker 5: area that may come down for things that and they
• 13:10
Speaker 5: may come back, and they'll come back, especially if you
• 13:12
Speaker 5: give them something to come back for it and give
• 13:13
Speaker 5: them gift cards and so on. And you're all celebrated.
• 13:15
Speaker 5: This isn't like major box stores or whatever.
• 13:18
  Speaker 1: This is.
• 13:18
Speaker 5: You are celebrating the businesses in Saint Albans. And there
• 13:21
Speaker 5: are plenty of them, plenty.
• 13:22
Speaker 8: Oh yeah, but we've got the bakeries, the restaurants, the
• 13:25
Speaker 8: attractions all the way across.
• 13:26
Speaker 5: And uh and I mean the restaurants are great. I
• 13:29
Speaker 5: mean people, I think sometimes and I was talking to
• 13:31
Speaker 5: somebody about this yet I was actually talking to Dino
• 13:33
Speaker 5: Stanley on the Midday Show on Friday from Ladelphia about
• 13:36
Speaker 5: the restaurant scene in West Virginia and how it's really
• 13:39
Speaker 5: really taken off here in the Canal Valley. I mean,
• 13:42
Speaker 5: you got James Beard Award winners nominees and so on
• 13:46
Speaker 5: and so forth, and you guys in Saint all Buts
• 13:47
Speaker 5: have got some fantastic restaurants. Well, thank you.
• 13:50

Speaker 8: really build that market and then entertainment aspect of it too.
• 13:57
Speaker 8: That's one thing I love about our restaurants in town,
• 14:00
Speaker 8: and a lot of them they have that built in
• 14:02
Speaker 8: music coming in, that live music, and that that really
• 14:05
Speaker 8: goes up to ip our Iley for the fails affairs

• 14:22
Speaker 8: to the Alburn Theater for classes and taking musical theater
• 14:25
Speaker 8: classes and acting classes. My own daughters are in and

Speaker 8: another little thing to you. June twenty fifth through the
• 15:41
Speaker 8: twenty ninth, in the city of Saint Albans, we'll have
• 15:44
Speaker 8: what's called the Moving Wall Vietnam Veteran Memorial Wall. It's
• 15:49
  Speaker 8: a small replica version. I say small, it's it's about
• 15:51
Speaker 8: two hundred and fifty feet long, so it's not small
• 15:53
Speaker 8: in comparison in comparison to the one in DC. But
• 15:56
Speaker 8: it'll be set up at the Kmart parking lot in
• 15:59

Speaker 8: I end up spending quite a bit when my little
• 17:25
Speaker 8: girls walk in and I want this and I need that,
• 17:28
Speaker 8: and I want to and I need it.

• 22:15
Speaker 5: Mccusky will stop by, and one other programming note. You
• 22:19
Speaker 5: may be familiar with the name Michael Eric Dyson. He
• 22:22
Speaker 5: is an author, a minister, political commentator, seen on everything
• 22:26
Speaker 5: from Meet the Press to Bill Maher college professor too.
• 22:30
Speaker 5: He is in Charleston for some of the Juneteenth Festive
• 22:33
Speaker 5: and he's going to join me in studio Thursday morning.
• 22:36
Speaker 5: I am certainly looking forward to that. I always look
• 22:39
Speaker 5: forward to talking to this guy. Former mayor, sheriff, legislator, restauranteur,
• 22:43
Speaker 5: radio host, actor, gravedigger. It's Danny Jones.
• 22:47
Speaker 2: How you doing you knowing man? Do you know anything
• 22:49
Speaker 2: about Michael Eric Dyson?
• 22:53
Speaker 5: Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. He's very entertaining among
• 23:01
Speaker 5: other things. And look, my big shout out to my
• 23:03
Speaker 5: man Ray Whiting, because Ray is the one that made
• 23:05
Speaker 5: this whole thing happen. Ray reached out to me and
• 23:08
Speaker 5: told me about him, and I said, you think we
• 23:09
Speaker 5: can make this happen. So he's actually going to come
• 23:11
Speaker 5: in studio with me on Thursday morning. Yeah, yeah, I'm
• 23:16
Speaker 5: looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to talking to
• 23:18
Speaker 5: him because he's he's one of those guys. And as
• 23:20
Speaker 5: I said, he's been on, He's on Meet the Press,
• 23:23
Speaker 5: all the CBS Sunday Morning show, was on Tucker Carlson.
• 23:27
Speaker 5: He he was, Yeah, he didn't every with Tucker Carlson. Yep, yep.
• 23:31
Speaker 5: He sits down with all that. That's the thing I
• 23:32
Speaker 5: like about the guy is I don't agree with him
• 23:35
Speaker 5: on everything, but he's not the kind of guy that
• 23:38
Speaker 5: just says, Okay, I am only going to talk to
• 23:41
Speaker 5: people who think like I do. He goes on pretty
• 23:43
Speaker 5: much any I mean, hell, he's coming on my show.
• 23:45
Speaker 5: So he has his very little standard.
• 23:47
Speaker 2: So I mean he.
• 23:50
Speaker 5: Does. He's a very good, good speaker, and he can
• 23:54
Speaker 5: be polarized. He's got a PhD. I just found that
• 23:56
Speaker 5: was doing a little research earlier this morning. He's got
• 23:58
  Speaker 5: a pH d and a fascinating guy. He's from Detroit,
• 24:03
Speaker 5: originally raised in Detroit.
• 24:04
Speaker 2: Uh that I do.
• 24:08
Speaker 5: I don't know, Ray, if you're listening, tell me where
• 24:11
Speaker 5: he's based now, because Ray listens to the show every day.
• 24:13
Speaker 5: But what I'm looking forward to it. Uh, he's going
• 24:15
Speaker 5: to be on the show, probably next to you. The
• 24:17
Speaker 5: most famous guest I've had on the show.
• 24:20
Speaker 14: He's uh, and you want to say something, Danny, what
• 24:25
Speaker 14: is I watched him debate Ben Shapiro, and.
• 24:32
Speaker 2: You gotta, you gotta keep up with the words. I mean,
• 24:37
Speaker 2: because he uses the language that it's pretty heavy, and
• 24:45
Speaker 2: it's it's sometimes the verbs of missing.
• 24:50
Speaker 5: I mean, well, I'll have to be on my toes
• 24:53
Speaker 5: for that, because you know I do not have a PhD.
• 24:56
Speaker 5: So and he does, so he'll be on the show
• 25:00
Speaker 5: teenth he's coming for the well, he's coming for all
• 25:03
Speaker 5: the festivities around that. Yeah, he's the multi fast and
• 25:05
Speaker 5: so on and so forth. Then that is when Friday okay,
• 25:11
Speaker 5: and and it's always I don't controversial is not the
• 25:14
Speaker 5: word I want to use, but you know it's it's
• 25:17
Speaker 5: federal holiday, but it's not observed in certain areas. Most
• 25:23
Speaker 5: companies are going to be closed on Friday because it's
• 25:26
Speaker 5: a federal holiday for Juneteenth. And it's something that the
• 25:30
Speaker 5: last couple of years, I've had a lot of people
• 25:32
Speaker 5: on the show that it's said, well, I never heard
• 25:33
Speaker 5: of it. Well, it's been a thing for a long time.
• 25:36
Speaker 2: It was never done as an act of Congress. It
• 25:40
Speaker 2: was done by executive order of President Biden. I don't
• 25:46
Speaker 2: think I'm trying to remember.
• 25:48
Speaker 5: Okay, well, we'll have to do a little homework on that. Yeah,
• 25:51
Speaker 5: because it's it was controversial, I guess a couple of
• 25:54
Speaker 5: years ago when the the Morrisey administration opted not to
• 25:59
Speaker 5: give it off as a state holiday.
• 26:01
Speaker 2: Did they give it off this Friday?
• 26:03
Speaker 5: Not, as far as I am aware. If somebody knows
• 26:06
Speaker 5: any different, they can let me know about that.
• 26:08
Speaker 2: And it's not a bona fide federal holiday.
• 26:11
  Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it's uh, I don't know. Hey, congratulations
• 26:15
Speaker 5: you're alma mater, George Washington. They won the state baseball
• 26:18
  Speaker 5: championship Saturday night.
• 26:19
Speaker 2: I heard, yeah, I heard, all right. Get I had
• 26:23
Speaker 2: one of my friends from West was texting me. He said,
• 26:27
Speaker 2: your teen's on television talking about the Mountaineers. And I
• 26:32
Speaker 2: was explaining to him and this guy one time had
• 26:34
Speaker 2: a short sent with the Buffalo Bills O a friend
• 26:37
Speaker 2: of yours in California, and he said, I told him Jay,
• 26:42
Speaker 2: I said, the Mountaineers are it here. I mean, we
• 26:48
Speaker 2: don't have the Dodgers or the Rams or the I
• 26:52
Speaker 2: get it or I go I go see the California Angels.
• 27:00
Speaker 2: I don't even know what they call.
• 27:01
Speaker 5: The the what are they now? Like the Los Angeles
• 27:04
  Speaker 5: Angels of Anaheim?
• 27:05
Speaker 2: They were at one time down that's an hour and
• 27:09
Speaker 2: a half away from Los Angeles, right, Yeah, well they've
• 27:12
Speaker 2: been all over. But what I'm saying is there's so
• 27:15
Speaker 2: much sports, The Clippers, the Lakers, you know, there's so much.
• 27:20
Speaker 2: There's so much to go to out there. That said,
• 27:25
Speaker 2: the Mountaineers are it for us?
• 27:26
Speaker 5: Well, and look, I am a Marshall guy. I bleed
• 27:29
Speaker 5: Kelly Green. You know. However, I realize and this puts
• 27:33
Speaker 5: me in the crosshairs with a lot of Mountaineer fans,
• 27:35
Speaker 5: or a lot of Marshall fans, I should say. From
• 27:37
Speaker 5: time to time, I realized the WBU are the big
• 27:39
Speaker 5: dogs here in West Virginia, and they're always going to
• 27:41
Speaker 5: be based on size. Yeah, and Marshall's had a lot
• 27:43
Speaker 5: of success, and I'm playing I'm proud to be a
• 27:46
Speaker 5: part of Marshall and the Big Green and the whole deal.
• 27:48
Speaker 5: But I've also been following the Mountaineers closely during this
• 27:52
Speaker 5: world series. And spoiler alert, you can actually want the
• 27:56
Speaker 5: best for both teams as long as they're not playing
• 27:58
Speaker 5: each other. Now they play for each other. I'm All Marshall.
• 28:00
Speaker 2: Okay, So David, why don't they do that anymore? Joe?
• 28:05
  Speaker 9: That happen?
• 28:05
Speaker 5: Well, you you get into Danny an entire argument about
• 28:10
Speaker 5: this West West Virginia. People say there's no upside for
• 28:14
Speaker 5: them because if they win, it doesn't really mean a
• 28:17
Speaker 5: whole lot, but if they lose, it means a whole
• 28:19
Speaker 5: heck of a lot. And and so that's why a
• 28:22
Speaker 5: lot of the people just, I mean, you know, it's
• 28:25
  Speaker 5: right time.
• 28:26
  Speaker 2: I think it's good.
• 28:27
Speaker 5: Yeah, And that's what people say they want Marshall had Moss. Yeah, still,
• 28:31
Speaker 5: and that's what I said. Look, if we didn't meet
• 28:32
Speaker 5: WVU when we had Randy Moss and Chad Pennington, chances
• 28:35
Speaker 5: are we're not going to beat them on a regular basis,
• 28:36
Speaker 5: not in football. Now we have one in other sports,
• 28:39
Speaker 5: baseball and in basketball and so on. As say, you know,
• 28:41
Speaker 5: Marshall's got some great teams. I think it's a great thing. Uh,
• 28:47
Speaker 5: I think. I think it's a great thing for the state.
• 28:49
  Speaker 5: But I but I also as a sports guy, I
• 28:51
Speaker 5: also understand the argument that's made by WVU that there's
• 28:56
Speaker 5: really no upside for them either way. If they win.
• 28:58
Speaker 5: It's like you're supposed to win, but if you lose,
• 29:01
Speaker 5: it's a whole lot bigger deal.
• 29:02
Speaker 2: When I was a little kid, I was baseball crazy
• 29:06
Speaker 2: and I had a little white transistor radio and I
• 29:10
Speaker 2: had it in my pocket and I would walk home
• 29:14
Speaker 2: from school. There'd be a ballgame on, probably the Reds. Yeah,
• 29:20
Speaker 2: and I would run the wire and put the one
• 29:25
Speaker 2: headphone in listen to baseball.
• 29:27
Speaker 5: There's nothing like baseball on the radio.
• 29:29
Speaker 2: Sometimes I did it in school.
• 29:32
  Speaker 5: Everybody did.
• 29:33
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 29:34
Speaker 5: Juneteenth, according to a texture, is a bona fide federal
• 29:37
Speaker 5: holiday condified in law. And then they give the they
• 29:39
Speaker 5: give the actual code.
• 29:41
Speaker 2: Well, okay, all right, I stam corrected. Then why federal
• 29:48
Speaker 2: holiday means it stay closest.
• 29:50
Speaker 5: Well, I guess the states have the right to do
• 29:52
Speaker 5: what they want, whether they choose to observe it or not. Okay, yeah,
• 29:57
  Speaker 5: I mean I'm presuming because I think if I correct,
• 30:00
Speaker 5: if my memory serves me right, and somebody can correct
• 30:03
Speaker 5: me if I'm not right. I believe it was celebrated
• 30:06
Speaker 5: one year, but Governor Morrissey others, you know, Governor Morrissey,
• 30:11
Speaker 5: it says it's not a holiday, which I think is
• 30:13
Speaker 5: a pretty bad look to be honest with you from
• 30:15
  Speaker 5: a pr standpoint. But that's just me. I don't know
• 30:17
  Speaker 5: a whole lot.
• 30:19
  Speaker 2: I believe i'd observe it. Yeah, a Vegas parvi a
• 30:23
Speaker 2: pretty good idea to observe it.

• 30:46
Speaker 5: the US and Iran apparently have a deal too in
• 30:49
Speaker 5: the war. Again, Well, this one looks a little bit.
• 30:52
Speaker 5: This looks a little bit more serious.
• 30:55
  Speaker 7: Uh.
• 30:55
Speaker 5: It is expected to open the straight off Horn moves
• 30:59
Speaker 5: and would end the naval blockade of Iranian ports. That's well,
• 31:06
Speaker 5: I hope so well. Many people, though, Danny, are saying
• 31:11
Speaker 5: that it does nothing about Iran's nuclear program, which is
• 31:14
Speaker 5: one of the main reasons why we went to work
• 31:16
  Speaker 5: to begin with.
• 31:17
  Speaker 2: That's not true.
• 31:18
Speaker 5: Well, I'm here. Look hear me out here. If all
• 31:22
Speaker 5: goes according to plan, the agreement would be signed in
• 31:26
Speaker 5: Geneva on Friday, And if that happened, of course, the
• 31:29
Speaker 5: deal includes a sixty days ceasefire. So they're saying, this
• 31:32
Speaker 5: was the article I was reading the New York Times
• 31:34
Speaker 5: this morning. The discussion of Iran's nuclear capabilities would be
• 31:38
Speaker 5: discussed more at that time. This is more about.
• 31:41
Speaker 2: The immediate Well, but they would have sixty days to
• 31:48
Speaker 2: negotiate about the their arsenal. Whatever it is which we
• 31:56
Speaker 2: said we obliterated, well, we buried it and we kept up.
• 32:01
Speaker 2: We held it up for a couple of years. I
• 32:04
Speaker 2: mean it it'd be tough to get out of the ground.
• 32:07
Speaker 2: You'd find it. But it's not as simple as it was.
• 32:11
Speaker 2: You can't just but we could do that again, David.
• 32:15
Speaker 2: And you know I'm more worried. I mean, I'm worried
• 32:22
Speaker 2: about the missiles. You know, the missiles are inside, can
• 32:27
Speaker 2: be done out of a building.
• 32:29
Speaker 5: But it'll be worried about the drones too, right, Because
• 32:33
Speaker 5: drones can come from the air, they can come from
• 32:35
Speaker 5: the ocean, they can come from a variety of different places.
• 32:37
Speaker 5: And we have them too. Don't get me wrong. We
• 32:39
Speaker 5: have them too, But I think I think people aren't
• 32:41
Speaker 5: necessarily talking enough about drones.
• 32:43
Speaker 2: But I don't know what's the advantage for Ron not
• 32:51
Speaker 2: to do, to do something like this. There are economies
• 32:57
Speaker 2: in a shambles. Their dollar their their money's not worth anything.
• 33:05
Speaker 2: I mean, their people are suffering. I don't know why.
• 33:09
Speaker 5: Let's keep in mind, this is not necessarily a country
• 33:13
Speaker 5: that's known for really caring about its people that much.
• 33:15
Speaker 5: This is a country that's bombed its own people and
• 33:18
Speaker 5: so on and so forth. So I mean, I understand,
• 33:20
  Speaker 5: I agree with what you're saying, but I don't know
• 33:22
Speaker 5: that the welfare of their people is of top of
• 33:25
  Speaker 5: mind of them.
• 33:26

• 37:01
  Speaker 2: I just think it's a mistake. It's just a mistake.

Speaker 5: Texays. Trump is the best at creating problems and solving
• 37:09
Speaker 5: them in the most mediocre way possible.
• 37:14
Speaker 2: We'll see, well, we'll see how that winds up. I'm
• 37:17
Speaker 2: watching this Tyler Robinson, he's the one that shot Charlie
• 37:20
Speaker 2: kirk Kirk. Where was that, David, Where where was that?
• 37:26
  Speaker 5: I already forgot. I'll look it up. I don't remember

• 37:32
  Speaker 2: Was it? Yeah?

Speaker 5: I look it up.
• 37:33
Speaker 2: And they wanted to get rid of the death penalty,
• 37:39
Speaker 2: and but that would depend on what state it's in.
• 37:42
  Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it's I don't know. I was watching
• 37:46
Speaker 5: an episode of Bill Maher over the weekend, and this
• 37:49
Speaker 5: was one from a couple of weeks ago, and he
• 37:51
Speaker 5: was talking about, uh, these uh these gen z assassins
• 37:57
Speaker 5: or would be assassins, and it's really now. I'm a
• 38:00
Speaker 5: big Bill Maher fan. I don't agree with him on everything,
• 38:02
  Speaker 5: but I'm a big I'm a big fan. Anyway, he
• 38:05
Speaker 5: was talking about how badly uh that that a lot
• 38:09
Speaker 5: of the folks think that they have it now, younger folks.
• 38:14
  Speaker 2: Yeah, everything changed.
• 38:17
Speaker 5: Uh Utah, it was Utah. Yeah, it was Utah.
• 38:20
  Speaker 7: Ah.
• 38:20
  Speaker 2: That's a death.
• 38:22
Speaker 5: Uh Utah Valley University in orem Utah is where it was.
• 38:26
  Speaker 2: That's a death penalty state.
• 38:28
Speaker 5: Yeah, Tex says Michael Eric Dyson is currently a professor
• 38:31
Speaker 5: at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. That's what one of the
• 38:34
Speaker 5: things he's doing now. Uh Text says West Virginia State
• 38:40
Speaker 5: holidays are set by law and then the texture gives
• 38:43
Speaker 5: the code. Again, June tenth is not among those specifically listed.
• 38:46
Speaker 5: The governor has discretion to declare it a holiday. Can
• 38:49
Speaker 5: anyone figure out why Morrissey won't do it or why
• 38:52
Speaker 5: did the Republican legislature won't add June teenth?
• 38:57
Speaker 2: You when you don't declared the holiday you pointed out,
• 39:02
  Speaker 2: I mean, you point out, and that's the it's a
• 39:05
  Speaker 2: negative why.
• 39:09
Speaker 5: Zeck says, I wonder what country Trump will try to
• 39:12
Speaker 5: overthrow next. Cuba might be too much to handle like
• 39:15
  Speaker 5: Iran was now.
• 39:16
Speaker 2: Cuba is in real trouble because they can't get oil.
• 39:22
Speaker 2: Their oil came from Venezuela. You know, one thing, one
• 39:26
Speaker 2: thing that I didn't know Venezuela was a narco state.
• 39:33
Speaker 2: Of their Two of their they're either top ministers, were
• 39:38
Speaker 2: involved in it, and one has a twenty five million
• 39:42
Speaker 2: dollar price on the head and one was fifteen. We
• 39:47
Speaker 2: just couldn't get all three of them, so we got Maduro.
• 39:51
Speaker 2: But they were making so much money in drugs that
• 39:55
Speaker 2: they were just given all the oil to Cuba. And
• 39:59
Speaker 2: now Cuba doesn't have oil or they don't have what
• 40:02
Speaker 2: they certainly don't have what they need. We allowed Russia
• 40:07
Speaker 2: to take oil to them, take some oil to them.
• 40:13
Speaker 2: We didn't have to allow that.
• 40:15
Speaker 5: Texas Trump's clown show last night had to pay fans
• 40:18
Speaker 5: to show up. It was a big failure. Talking about
• 40:20
Speaker 5: the UFC fight, I'm not a UFC fan, so I
• 40:22
  Speaker 5: didn't watch it, so I don't know. I only know
• 40:24
Speaker 5: what I read about it this morning. Well, I do
• 40:27
Speaker 5: know that one of the fighters in his uh I
• 40:30
Speaker 5: guess his postmatch interview or whatever, referred to o'hell Michelle
• 40:33
Speaker 5: Obama's being a man. He yeld that in a microphone,
• 40:36
Speaker 5: which is really unfortunate.
• 40:37
Speaker 2: You know what, it's hard to get in the White House,
• 40:43
Speaker 2: It's real hard. As a mayor, it was hard, and
• 40:48
Speaker 2: we had to get off the bus, get on the bus,
• 40:51
Speaker 2: get back, and you had to go. It was so
• 40:54
  Speaker 2: tough getting.
• 40:55
Speaker 5: What years were you there at the White House.
• 41:00
Speaker 2: When I was mayor, probably twenty ten, twenty eleven. I
• 41:06
Speaker 2: remember when I left early and walked out with Oscar
• 41:11
Speaker 2: Goodman's wife. She was mayor of Las Vegas. He was mayor.
• 41:17
Speaker 2: You know he is. He's a criminal lawyer. He was
• 41:20
Speaker 2: a lawyer for Tony Spilatra and all the mafia guys.
• 41:24
Speaker 2: Then he became mayor of Las Vegas, and then when
• 41:28
Speaker 2: he turned was turned out. Then his wife became mayor,
• 41:32
Speaker 2: and I walked her out and we got a ride
• 41:35
Speaker 2: back to the hotel.
• 41:37
Speaker 5: Tex says, Dave Trump got punked by Iran. Do you
• 41:40
Speaker 5: believe that, Danny, not yet? Not yet?
• 41:44
Speaker 2: You say, no, we don't know yet. Now he didn't
• 41:49
Speaker 2: get punked. I mean he did a lot of damage.
• 41:55
  Speaker 2: Now I don't buy that.
• 41:57
Speaker 5: Tex says, did you seriously just say? I was reading
• 42:00
Speaker 5: in the New York Times this morning. That tells you
• 42:02
Speaker 5: everything you need to know right there. But then I
• 42:04
Speaker 5: guess the New York Times, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and
• 42:08
Speaker 5: it's now the Washington post et cetera. Do or do
• 42:11
Speaker 5: not report on something that determines if a true, if
• 42:14
Speaker 5: a story is true or not. I read a variety
• 42:17
Speaker 5: of things. Well, well, the text is saying, basically taking
• 42:21
Speaker 5: issue with me saying that I read something in the
• 42:23
Speaker 5: New York Times. Why would I not read the New
• 42:25
Speaker 5: York Times? Why would I not watch Fox News? Why
• 42:27
Speaker 5: would I not watch CNN? I mean, you want something
• 42:29
Speaker 5: from every possible Wall Street journal. I mean, I mean, yeah, I.
• 42:33
Speaker 2: Read, I read the Times. Is there any specific thing
• 42:37
Speaker 2: that you can remember?
• 42:38
Speaker 5: Well, now, I was just saying about that. I was
• 42:40
Speaker 5: giving quotes about the deal, and I said, as I
• 42:44
Speaker 5: was reading in the in the New York Times. Yeah,
• 42:47
Speaker 5: but I mean, yeah, of course I'm going to read
• 42:49
Speaker 5: the New York Times as much as I am going
• 42:51
Speaker 5: to read conservative things and liberal things. You got to
• 42:54
Speaker 5: read a little bit of everything, in my opinion. I mean,
• 42:56
  Speaker 5: that's that's just my opinion.
• 42:58
  Speaker 8: Uh.
• 42:59
Speaker 2: Text, they got a thing in the Times in the
• 43:04
Speaker 2: arts section, and they got little subtitles and it says
• 43:09
Speaker 2: what to watch, and you can go there and say,
• 43:12
Speaker 2: all the good stuff on Netflix, and all the good
• 43:15
Speaker 2: stuff on Hulu and all the different things. And then
• 43:18
Speaker 2: They have a book section and they recommend books to
• 43:23
Speaker 2: read and out of ten you might find one. And
• 43:29
Speaker 2: I found one called Mister Smith Go to Prison And
• 43:34
Speaker 2: it was about a politician in Missouri who was a
• 43:37
Speaker 2: PhD who got set up by one of his previous
• 43:41
Speaker 2: camp It was a previous campaign and he wound up
• 43:45
Speaker 2: having to go to prison and he tells a story
• 43:47
Speaker 2: about it and it's really good, a really good book.

• 49:04
Speaker 2: of bleachers that they'd focus on as fans and if
• 49:08
Speaker 2: everybody else had to stand up. So I just stood
• 49:11
Speaker 2: up and watched it. And that he was a white guy.
• 49:16
Speaker 2: He wore black leotards all over and they called him
• 49:19
Speaker 2: the big Black Napoleon. And and then they had Gypsy
• 49:25
Speaker 2: Joe and he would take an alcoholic spunge and pulled
