- 0:00Speaker 1: How do you want to start this whole thing?
- 0:02Speaker 2: Well, what started this all was for my husband's birthday,
- 0:08Speaker 2: I planned a little getaway to California to go to
- 0:13Speaker 2: a concert. As I've told you, I have a trombone
- 0:16Speaker 2: shorty problem. And he was playing at, there's this cool
- 0:22Speaker 2: vineyard in Paso Robles. And it's like a red butte
- 0:27Speaker 2: sized vineyard. kind of amphitheater they have at the winery.
- 0:31Speaker 2: So it's a really cool place to go see a show.
- 0:35Speaker 2: So I planned a little weekend getaway there. And the
- 0:39Speaker 2: concert was on Sunday, which meant, oh, well, we'll take
- 0:41Speaker 2: Monday and maybe Tuesday off. We'll make a whole trip.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Out of it.
- 0:46Speaker 2: So I was leaving, and then Bill was doing his
- 0:49Speaker 2: Bear Lake thing, which is where he is right now.
- 0:51Speaker 2: So with these competing vacations... And I have been saying
- 0:58Speaker 2: to Carrie Jackson for weeks now that he needs a break.
- 1:06Speaker 2: He needs a vacation. Yeah. Cause, cause he's been on vacation,
- 1:12Speaker 2: but they're like vacations with a lot going on and
- 1:16Speaker 2: a lot of people. And like, I'm like, you need
- 1:18Speaker 2: just to go somewhere and maybe just by yourself and,
- 1:22Speaker 2: and have a nice go, go somewhere that makes you happy.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Like maybe Disneyland. And I've been saying this. And apparently.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Well, you texted my wife.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I did.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Well, no, okay, back up. All right. Carrie wouldn't go
- 1:45Speaker 2: to his wife and say, I want to go be
- 1:46Speaker 2: at a dance. Okay.
- 1:48Speaker 4: He wouldn't.
- 1:49Speaker 2: And I'm like, we need to push him. He's not
- 1:51Speaker 2: going to do this unless we push him. So I
- 1:54Speaker 2: texted Sue and I said, Sue, I really think Carrie
- 1:58Speaker 2: needs a break. We've had a lot... Let's be honest.
- 2:01Speaker 2: We have had a lot going on here behind the scenes. Yeah.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Sure.
- 2:04Speaker 2: A lot of uncomfortable....
- 2:07Speaker 1: Stressful.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Stressful stuff going on behind the scenes.
- 2:10Speaker 1: My therapist is tired of talking about it.
- 2:13Speaker 2: And so.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Me bugging Carrie to go on a trip, he's never
- 2:19Speaker 2: going to go home and say, Sue, I'm going out
- 2:23Speaker 2: of town.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Okay.
- 2:24Speaker 2: So I texted Sue and I said, can you please
- 2:28Speaker 2: make your husband go out of town? He needs a break.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Real quick, does it need to be out of town
- 2:32Speaker 4: or can it be like a staycation?
- 2:34Speaker 1: Well, see, that was my plan.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:35Speaker 1: It was just to stay home.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Because I like a staycation.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I enjoy a staycation.
- 2:41Speaker 2: But I felt like he needed... Because you're in a
- 2:46Speaker 2: different mindset when you go somewhere. Sure. Because when you're home,
- 2:49Speaker 2: you look around the house and you think about things
- 2:51Speaker 2: you need to do around the house.
- 2:53Speaker 4: That's fair.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Go somewhere else. And so.
- 2:58Speaker 3: So she sits me down at dinner that day that
- 3:01Speaker 3: you sent the text.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Okay.
- 3:05Speaker 3: And says, what have you got to... What time does
- 3:10Speaker 3: a geek show end tomorrow?
- 3:12Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I said, oh, we'll be done by 12, 1230, something
- 3:16Speaker 1: like that. She goes, hmm, I think you should go
- 3:19Speaker 1: to Disneyland.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I went, huh?
- 3:24Speaker 1: She goes, yeah, I've taken a look at flights. Here's
- 3:27Speaker 1: what's available.
- 3:28Speaker 3: That place you like to stay at is, you know,
- 3:30Speaker 3: still got a couple of rooms left.
- 3:32Speaker 1: So if you're going to do it, you better hurry.
- 3:35Speaker 3: And so I think you should go to the parks
- 3:38Speaker 3: Sunday and Monday and then come home Tuesday.
- 3:41Speaker 2: And I went.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Are you sure?
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Did you know Gina had texted her?
- 3:47Speaker 1: Not at that moment.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Okay. Not at that moment. I said, I'm doing the
- 3:51Speaker 3: math in my head about, you know, this is going
- 3:53Speaker 3: to be pricey.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Because it's last minute.
- 3:57Speaker 1: And she said, well, don't worry about it. Here's the flights.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Pick which one works best for you. And you probably
- 4:03Speaker 3: want to come back early on Tuesday.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And I went, okay, twist my arm. You broke me down. I'll...
- 4:13Speaker 1: I'll do it. So quickly booked it that day.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:18Speaker 3: And I got on the plane on Saturday after Geek Show.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Flew down and checked into the hotel. Everything was great.
- 4:32Speaker 3: And I was at the parks. I rode Guardians of
- 4:35Speaker 3: the Galaxy five times. Excellent.
- 4:38Speaker 2: See, when you go by yourself, you don't have to
- 4:39Speaker 2: be on anybody else's timetable or anybody else's preferences.
- 4:43Speaker 4: And you get the single rider line.
- 4:45Speaker 3: And then there's the single rider line, especially for the
- 4:47Speaker 3: Millennium Falcon.
- 4:48Speaker 1: You can just go right on.
- 4:49Speaker 3: The problem is that you always wind up being the engineer.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Explain to me what the engineer is.
- 4:54Speaker 3: There are six positions on the Millennium Falcon. There's two pilots.
- 4:58Speaker 3: And the first two pilots, one handles.
- 5:01Speaker 1: The ship going up and down, the other one makes
- 5:03Speaker 1: it go left and right.
- 5:05Speaker 4: What does the engineer do?
- 5:07Speaker 1: We get the exciting job of catching packages. Cool. Yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 1: it's so much fun.
- 5:14Speaker 3: But if you go signal, that's what happens usually because
- 5:17Speaker 3: everybody wants to be something else anyway.
- 5:19Speaker 1: But no, it's terrific. You're on your own schedule.
- 5:22Speaker 3: And I said to myself, I'm not buying things because
- 5:27Speaker 3: I don't. I don't want more crap in my house.
- 5:30Speaker 3: I'm getting rid of my crap. Katie, we got to talk.
- 5:35Speaker 3: But I did see a package of action figures there.
- 5:39Speaker 3: And they're the old Mego action figures from like 74,
- 5:42Speaker 3: from when I.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Was a kid.
- 5:44Speaker 3: And I had them all and played the hell out
- 5:47Speaker 3: of them and destroyed them. But they're reproductions. And I
- 5:51Speaker 3: remember I had my Hulk one that I really liked.
- 5:53Speaker 3: And he broke and got rid of him. And then
- 5:57Speaker 3: you go online to look for them, and they're all,
- 5:59Speaker 3: you know, classic ones, and they cost hundreds of dollars.
- 6:04Speaker 3: But this one was, it was a set of four,
- 6:07Speaker 3: because they had Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, and Hulk.
- 6:11Speaker 1: And I thought, okay, I'm going to do it.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:15Speaker 1: It was $ 100.
- 6:16Speaker 2: That's okay.
- 6:17Speaker 3: So then I got thinking, you know, they redesigned the
- 6:19Speaker 3: Napa Rose, which is a Michelin star restaurant inside the
- 6:22Speaker 3: Grand Californian Hotel. Okay.
- 6:27Speaker 1: They've redesigned it. There's a new chef. There's a new menu.
- 6:29Speaker 3: And that was my secret place to go because the.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Back patio, no one was ever out on the back patio.
- 6:36Speaker 3: And I would go back there and the waiter would
- 6:39Speaker 3: keep bringing me wine and I'd watch the fireworks.
- 6:42Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 6:42Speaker 4: I passed out there once. Nice. Very nice.
- 6:45Speaker 1: But now they've taken that over and remodeled it. And
- 6:50Speaker 1: they said, well, I said, I just one person. Can
- 6:53Speaker 1: you fit me in? Well, you have to make a
- 6:56Speaker 1: reservation on the app.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Everything's on the app now.
- 6:59Speaker 1: They make it so damn difficult.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I'm just standing here. Can I go sit at the bar?
- 7:04Speaker 1: Is there a stool at the bar? And they said, yeah,
- 7:07Speaker 1: go on the app. And I went on the app
- 7:09Speaker 1: and I went, okay, one person. So they said, okay,
- 7:13Speaker 1: be here at 530.
- 7:14Speaker 3: I sit down and it's the chef's table thing.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Where they just bring you stuff?
- 7:23Speaker 1: And I'm like, what?
- 7:24Speaker 3: I just wanted some spaghetti or something. It turned out
- 7:28Speaker 3: I got, I got hooked into a tasting menu.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Oh, and then you're stuck with whatever.
- 7:33Speaker 3: And I'm like, I'm not going to eat all that,
- 7:36Speaker 3: but the chefs are right there and they keep bringing
- 7:38Speaker 3: you things.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Yep.
- 7:41Speaker 3: So that wound up costing a lot more than I anticipated. But, uh,
- 7:45Speaker 3: so I was great. I was great until Monday afternoon. Yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Can I tell you what happened Monday afternoon?
- 7:50Speaker 4: I hope so. Cause we have time to fill, but.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Um, So Monday afternoon, I'm at a wine tasting in
- 7:58Speaker 2: the middle of the country. And we'd been there for
- 8:01Speaker 2: a while. And there's no cell service there at all.
- 8:06Speaker 2: And I looked down at my phone and I had
- 8:09Speaker 2: 28 text messages from Carrie and Bill. And I'm like,
- 8:15Speaker 2: oh my God, something's blowing up here. It's stuff that
- 8:19Speaker 2: we're not going to talk about.
- 8:21Speaker 1: But it was a conference call with our attorney. I
- 8:24Speaker 1: will say that.
- 8:25Speaker 2: And so. I'm like driving around the California countryside trying
- 8:30Speaker 2: to find service so I can get on this conference.
- 8:34Speaker 2: So I'm doing that on my vacation. Carrie's at Disneyland.
- 8:38Speaker 4: On his vacation.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Having the same.
- 8:40Speaker 4: Yeah, and Bill's on his vacation, and each of you
- 8:43Speaker 4: are getting dragged into this.
- 8:44Speaker 3: It's because one attorney decided to speak to another attorney
- 8:48Speaker 3: and give a deadline.
- 8:49Speaker 4: Oh, great.
- 8:50Speaker 2: So we're all trying to get a way to... De-stress.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Sure.
- 8:55Speaker 1: About that.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:57Speaker 3: And while we're... And while we're... And while we're trying
- 9:00Speaker 3: to do the de-stressing about that, that follows us here.
- 9:04Speaker 3: You know?
- 9:05Speaker 2: So my end point of all this is we all
- 9:07Speaker 2: need another.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Another vacation. Because I was exhausted when I got home. Uh-huh.
- 9:14Speaker 3: I know.
- 9:15Speaker 2: So there's that.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I know. You poor people.
- 9:17Speaker 3: You sound rested.
- 9:22Speaker 4: You sound very rested.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
