Samford University is moving forward with a scaled-back dorm plan for its South Campus—two six-story student housing buildings with ground-floor coffee shops, after ditching the original vision of 435 apartments and a hotel. The Homewood Planning Commission already approved it; now the City Council holds a public hearing on Oct. 12 at 6 PM to decide its fate.
