- 1:03Speaker 2: I'm recording this from the beautiful Clift Sinesta Royal Hotel
- 1:08Speaker 2: in the heart of San Francisco. If you're watching this,
- 1:12Speaker 2: you're seeing how incredibly gorgeous this room is that I
- 1:15Speaker 2: was lucky enough to be able to spend this past hot,
- 1:19Speaker 2: beautiful weekend in San Francisco. Everybody who came to my
- 1:22Speaker 2: COBS show, the four shows, I just had a blast.
- 1:26Speaker 2: I want to thank you so much. Desert Ridge in Phoenix,
- 1:28Speaker 2: I will see you October 9th and 10th, two shows
- 1:32Speaker 2: a night. Very excited for that. And then November 14th
- 1:35Speaker 2: in El Cajon, just outside of San Diego, I will
- 1:38Speaker 2: be with your favorite blue-eyed delight, Chris Franjola. That's November 14th.
- 1:42Speaker 2: All those tickets are available at HeatherMcDonald.net. But I really
- 1:45Speaker 2: just had such a great time and I'm so excited
- 1:48Speaker 2: to get in front of you live again. So please,
- 1:51Speaker 2: please come. Okay, I have a great show for you today.
- 1:55Speaker 2: I have a great interview, which we will get into
- 1:58Speaker 2: in a second. Let's go over some things that have
- 2:00Speaker 2: happened in the world since. I'm going to just straight
- 2:04Speaker 2: up start with something I talked a little bit about
- 2:07Speaker 2: on my Patreon, which you can get at heathermcdonald.net, on
- 2:10Speaker 2: Friday because I saw it right before I recorded, and
- 2:12Speaker 2: it just pissed me off. You may or may have
- 2:16Speaker 2: not seen this because a lot of clips from this
- 2:18Speaker 2: interview have been made. But Pete Davidson, you know him.
- 2:23Speaker 2: He was on SNL. He dated very famous people, most
- 2:26Speaker 2: famous for dating Kim Kardashian between Kanye and now her
- 2:31Speaker 2: new boyfriend. Okay. And he was always all tattooed and
- 2:36Speaker 2: it was very sad because he was a victim from 9-11.
- 2:40Speaker 2: His dad was a beloved firefighter who passed.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:43Speaker 2: That's kind of what was interesting in hearing that he,
- 2:47Speaker 2: and he was also one of the youngest comedians to
- 2:49Speaker 2: be put on SNL. So, He has a very fun,
- 2:54Speaker 2: particular way about how he talks. He's cute. He's sexy.
- 2:57Speaker 2: And apparently, the word on the street is, he has
- 3:00Speaker 2: a big old D. And a lot of girls want
- 3:02Speaker 2: to be like, what's up with that big old D?
- 3:04Speaker 3: Okay.
- 3:05Speaker 2: So, he since has started to get his tattoos removed.
- 3:08Speaker 2: He also became a father, but he is no longer
- 3:11Speaker 2: with the mother.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Why?
- 3:12Speaker 2: I don't know. We don't know. That's fine. As long
- 3:15Speaker 2: as he's being a dedicated dad. Anyway, he did an interview.
- 3:19Speaker 3: And....
- 3:21Speaker 2: He, the clip of it, now listen, I didn't watch
- 3:24Speaker 2: the whole thing, but the clip of it has really
- 3:26Speaker 2: pissed off a lot of people, including myself. And they
- 3:31Speaker 2: knew what to clip, let me tell you. Because also
- 3:34Speaker 2: the angle of him, I guess he always had those
- 3:36Speaker 2: big giant chompers. I don't know if they're veneers. I
- 3:38Speaker 2: don't know what. He's still a good looking guy. Okay.
- 3:40Speaker 2: He's still, I can see why girls like him, tattoos
- 3:43Speaker 2: or not. Okay. But he goes crazy. He's like, I mean,
- 3:47Speaker 2: what's with these girls my age just talking to themselves
- 3:51Speaker 2: in front of the camera, you know, like doing a
- 3:54Speaker 2: little dance? Oh, get ready with me. Oh, and they
- 3:56Speaker 2: just do a little dance. What the fuck is going on?
- 3:59Speaker 2: The way he says fuck, he's like, what the fuck
- 4:01Speaker 2: is that? What the fuck is happening here? And these
- 4:04Speaker 2: girls are making $ 40 million a year. Like, what is
- 4:07Speaker 2: happening in the world? This is the first time I
- 4:09Speaker 2: felt old. This has infuriated me on so many levels.
- 4:16Speaker 2: What the fuck is your problem, Pete Davidson? Honestly, why
- 4:19Speaker 2: are you such a jealous prick? What is your problem
- 4:24Speaker 2: with girls being successful in the privacy of their own home,
- 4:28Speaker 2: being safe? They don't have a team behind them. In
- 4:31Speaker 2: order to be a successful influencer, you have to do
- 4:33Speaker 2: it all yourself. No one has William Morris behind you.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Nobody's got a PR team behind you. No one's setting
- 4:41Speaker 2: you up with this and that. You're not showing up
- 4:43Speaker 2: on a shoot and dancing around when someone does your hair, okay?
- 4:47Speaker 2: The influencing world, which I have said over and over,
- 4:51Speaker 2: should be thanks to Kim Kardashian, okay? And the Kardashians,
- 4:54Speaker 2: they were one of the first people that made tweeting
- 4:58Speaker 2: and things where they could be paid to do it
- 5:00Speaker 2: because they had so many followers, okay? That's who you
- 5:03Speaker 2: ended up dating and tattooed her children and Kanye's children
- 5:07Speaker 2: onto your body while they were still, I think, legally
- 5:11Speaker 2: married to taunt Kanye. So you're a who are you?
- 5:18Speaker 2: You stand up on stage, as do I, and give
- 5:21Speaker 2: your opinion and people pay to see it. So why
- 5:24Speaker 2: should you be making money for that? Who the fuck
- 5:26Speaker 2: are you, Pete Davidson? Who the fuck are you? So
- 5:31Speaker 2: And why are you mad at a business that in
- 5:33Speaker 2: 2026 realizes that their advertising dollars are better spent having
- 5:38Speaker 2: authentic people talk to people that are similar to them
- 5:42Speaker 2: to say, hey girls, I really love this mascara. This
- 5:45Speaker 2: is why I love it. And they would rather put
- 5:48Speaker 2: their advertising dollars into that person and work that way
- 5:51Speaker 2: than a big advertising firm and a big commercial so
- 5:54Speaker 2: that what? So a model can come in and make
- 5:58Speaker 2: a one lump sum for that day and never see
- 6:00Speaker 2: another dollar from it or maybe a tiny residual check. No,
- 6:04Speaker 2: this is a great model that is working for a
- 6:07Speaker 2: lot of people, for the businesses, for the women doing it.
- 6:10Speaker 2: And it just felt so misogynistic and so angry. You know,
- 6:15Speaker 2: I'm going to the 49ers today. Why the fuck is
- 6:20Speaker 2: a guy throwing a football making millions of dollars? I mean,
- 6:24Speaker 2: who cares about that? Or just running around in your
- 6:27Speaker 2: tight pants? I mean, why are they getting paid? A
- 6:30Speaker 2: teacher should be paid as much. Like, it's just such
- 6:32Speaker 2: a stupid thing. Like, this is our world, and it
- 6:36Speaker 2: is great if someone can be successful at it without
- 6:39Speaker 2: hurting anyone, without trafficking people, without being a complete, disgusting,
- 6:43Speaker 2: fraudulent person. And I'm sure it was a throwaway line.
- 6:47Speaker 2: I'm sure he's trying to be funny. Oh, TikTok dancing.
- 6:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:51Speaker 2: It's shocking being in front of a camera. What about
- 6:54Speaker 2: all the dumb projects you did that you got paid
- 6:57Speaker 2: to be in, that you didn't even believe in, that
- 6:59Speaker 2: you didn't write, that you didn't produce, but you were
- 7:02Speaker 2: the dancing clown to be in it? Does that make
- 7:05Speaker 2: you a better person than the person that's writing their
- 7:08Speaker 2: own script, doing their own thing, letting people know that
- 7:11Speaker 2: they really like this product or... You know, knowing that
- 7:14Speaker 2: they're getting paid thousands of dollars to convey what is
- 7:16Speaker 2: great about the product. I mean, that is why influencing
- 7:21Speaker 2: is now a major in school because it's a broader
- 7:23Speaker 2: way to move and sell products and make brands. It's
- 7:27Speaker 2: not just three channels on TV anymore. It's not just
- 7:30Speaker 2: a handful of people that can be successful. A lot
- 7:33Speaker 2: of us can be successful. And that's really wonderful. And
- 7:35Speaker 2: it's not just the people on SNL that got hired
- 7:38Speaker 2: at 21, okay? And it's not just the people that
- 7:41Speaker 2: get to clout chase and date hot girls and get
- 7:45Speaker 2: put in magazines and whatnot so that we still know
- 7:48Speaker 2: their name. Now, I think you, Pete Davidson, knows that
- 7:50Speaker 2: your time is fucking up. You're getting jealous. You know
- 7:53Speaker 2: you have a big D. You probably will have to
- 7:55Speaker 2: do OnlyFans like you're talking about it. And if you do,
- 7:58Speaker 2: I will applaud you. Use what God gave you. Make
- 8:01Speaker 2: your money while you can make it. Make it easily.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Make it quick so you can spend more time with
- 8:06Speaker 2: your child. And that's what a lot of women do
- 8:08Speaker 2: and why they go this route. Because they're mothers and
- 8:11Speaker 2: they want to be at home and safe and they
- 8:13Speaker 2: love makeup and they love clothes and they have great
- 8:15Speaker 2: style and they're finding a way to get paid for it.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Whew. Okay.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Let me shake that off a minute. Okay. Also, I
- 8:28Speaker 2: want to talk a little bit about my thoughts on
- 8:31Speaker 2: Real Housewives. I was thinking about this the other day.
- 8:33Speaker 2: We've talked a lot about it. Some of you have
- 8:35Speaker 2: dropped off and not watched. Listen, it's a comforting show.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I love the women. I will watch it. However, I'm
- 8:42Speaker 2: going to make a little prediction. I think I said
- 8:46Speaker 2: earlier on in my last episode, how will they get
- 8:48Speaker 2: three episodes out of this? The reunion normally has three episodes.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Sometimes certain shows only have two. If it's a newer show,
- 8:56Speaker 2: they have one. Sometimes they wait until the second season
- 8:58Speaker 2: to have it. I can't believe that we're going to
- 9:02Speaker 2: sit through three episodes of how Vicki said to Carmela
- 9:05Speaker 2: she didn't have enough things in her home and therefore
- 9:08Speaker 2: knows that she's living in this rented home. to appear
- 9:10Speaker 2: that she lives in the OC, thus securing her part
- 9:15Speaker 2: as a real housewife OC. We all know it. Who cares?
- 9:18Speaker 2: Who cares? They were looking for somebody. She seems perfectly fine. But,
- 9:22Speaker 2: you know, she's trying to make her mark. And Vicki's
- 9:24Speaker 2: just like, I don't see what's happening. Where's the TV?
- 9:27Speaker 2: Where's the TV remote? What's happening here?
- 9:29Speaker 4: My work!
- 9:34Speaker 2: Um, she's miserable. She just had another like knee surgery done.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Now I've been fortunate, fortunate enough not to have something
- 9:42Speaker 2: like that, but I know it's very painful and it
- 9:45Speaker 2: would bum me out too if I had to wear
- 9:47Speaker 2: heels while my knee is physically killing me.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Okay.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Who wants to go out when you're not feeling cute
- 9:53Speaker 2: and all of that. However, something kind of funny about
- 9:56Speaker 2: her being called Debbie Downer. So I saw that Alexis
- 9:59Speaker 2: Bellino had posted something about her husband, John Jansen, yes,
- 10:03Speaker 2: former boyfriend of Shannon Bedore, that he has been having
- 10:07Speaker 2: knee trouble for years and they're trying all these different
- 10:09Speaker 2: things and hopefully it'll work. And it was just kind
- 10:11Speaker 2: of an informational thing about what medical peptides or whatever
- 10:14Speaker 2: they're using or I don't know. And then the first
- 10:17Speaker 2: comment was Vicky and it was like, Good luck to you.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I've tried all those things. Nothing works. You still have
- 10:22Speaker 2: to get surgery. So just go get it. And I'm like, okay,
- 10:25Speaker 2: that is the epitome of a Debbie Downer, Vicki. I
- 10:29Speaker 2: hope John's knees get better. I hope Vicki's knees get better.
- 10:33Speaker 2: You know, that is a pain in the ass or
- 10:35Speaker 2: a pain in the knee. But this is what I think.
- 10:38Speaker 2: There's a lot of talk. There actually was an article
- 10:41Speaker 2: written where it was something to the effect that Vicky
- 10:47Speaker 2: has already decided not to come back to season 21. Vicky,
- 10:52Speaker 2: fresh from her surgery, then responded to that in a
- 10:56Speaker 2: pretty funny video that she put together that, or probably
- 11:01Speaker 2: Christian did, which is fine. He's funny too. That's her co-host, Christian. Anyway, he,
- 11:05Speaker 2: on her podcast. But it was like, well, that's news
- 11:07Speaker 2: to me, you know? So I don't think anything's decisions
- 11:11Speaker 2: have been made about what will happen in season 21
- 11:14Speaker 2: of OC. But this is my prediction. If you want
- 11:19Speaker 2: to get three episodes out of it, I think what
- 11:22Speaker 2: would be really interesting is to go about it and
- 11:27Speaker 2: kind of ask, when I have housewives on my show,
- 11:30Speaker 2: one of the things I always ask is like, what
- 11:32Speaker 2: was the best thing about becoming a housewife and being famous?
- 11:35Speaker 2: And what was the worst? When was the moment, when did,
- 11:38Speaker 2: was there a moment on the street or something where
- 11:40Speaker 2: someone come up to you and you kind of realized, wow,
- 11:43Speaker 2: this is going to be my new life. This is
- 11:45Speaker 2: what's great about it. This meant so much to me.
- 11:47Speaker 2: This person wrote me and said, sharing my story impacted
- 11:50Speaker 2: their life in such a positive way, whatever it is.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Or this was the most mean negative thing that like
- 11:55Speaker 2: put me in a hole for three days. I think
- 11:57Speaker 2: that shit's really interesting. So I think what Andy should
- 12:00Speaker 2: do is, because whether the show comes back with all
- 12:04Speaker 2: the same girls or half new, half old, all new,
- 12:08Speaker 2: taking a definite break like they did with Miami. Because
- 12:14Speaker 2: it's kind of like, where do we go from here?
- 12:16Speaker 2: Since nothing really happened big, you know, there's not, they're trying.
- 12:21Speaker 2: You know, the last episode I mentioned that Tamara's business, Hervina,
- 12:26Speaker 2: which is a CBD type of, or THC type of brand,
- 12:33Speaker 2: seems to do very, very well. She was very smart.
- 12:35Speaker 2: She did what Patrick and I said, have a big
- 12:38Speaker 2: party where you're going to promote your thing where they
- 12:40Speaker 2: can't not share your promotions. And she had it everywhere.
- 12:44Speaker 2: She has a new canned drink. which I think is
- 12:47Speaker 2: a great idea for a product. I think that could
- 12:49Speaker 2: live on well beyond the show, so good for her.
- 12:51Speaker 2: And she invited all the old housewives. I don't know
- 12:55Speaker 2: if that was production's ideas or hers, but it was
- 12:57Speaker 2: pretty smart. And if she has remained friendly with all
- 13:00Speaker 2: of them, that is cool too. So we had Quinn,
- 13:04Speaker 2: if you guys remember Quinn. Quinn was a one-hit wonder,
- 13:08Speaker 2: and it was a wonder because she really didn't fit
- 13:10Speaker 2: in And she didn't fit in at the party either,
- 13:12Speaker 2: but she seems like a nice woman and she did
- 13:14Speaker 2: show up. We had Tammy Knickerbocker, who had a very
- 13:17Speaker 2: sad story and had just, you know, she was divorced.
- 13:21Speaker 2: She had a young kid who's now 24. He was four.
- 13:24Speaker 2: That's how long ago she was on the show. So
- 13:25Speaker 2: they talk a little bit about that. We have Lynn,
- 13:28Speaker 2: the cuff curtain. She makes cuff still. And Heather Dubois
- 13:31Speaker 2: was asking about her. So that was kind of fun.
- 13:33Speaker 2: For the people that have been watching the show as
- 13:34Speaker 2: long as I have, I thought it was kind of fun.
- 13:36Speaker 2: And then Alexis, who truly is close to Tamara, shows
- 13:39Speaker 2: up with John Jansen. So that adds to some drama.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Thank God they came. Otherwise, there really has been nothing
- 13:45Speaker 2: that's happened in this show that's worth three episodes of
- 13:49Speaker 2: reunion about. So what I think is they should have
- 13:54Speaker 2: something that if it doesn't come back, and not that
- 13:56Speaker 2: I don't want it to come back, but it doesn't
- 13:58Speaker 2: come back, there is sort of a finale to it.
- 14:01Speaker 2: And I wouldn't be surprised if this happens in that
- 14:04Speaker 2: they kind of go through each episode girl because we
- 14:07Speaker 2: still see many of us as like Emily and Gina
- 14:10Speaker 2: as like the new girl. They're not new. I think
- 14:12Speaker 2: this is their seventh or eighth season doing it. That's
- 14:15Speaker 2: a significant amount of time. Gina has been through abuse,
- 14:19Speaker 2: a divorce, reconciliation with her ex in a co-parenting way,
- 14:23Speaker 2: a new career, a DUI, sobriety, better hair extensions, most importantly,
- 14:29Speaker 2: an engagement, dealing with her fiance's ex-wife. managing six kids
- 14:35Speaker 2: in one home. Like, it might be the most interesting
- 14:40Speaker 2: moment that is there if we kind of like go through,
- 14:44Speaker 2: just like they were kind of doing on the Ultimate
- 14:46Speaker 2: Girls trip, kind of like recapping what these women have
- 14:48Speaker 2: shared with us and be grateful for what they've shared
- 14:51Speaker 2: with us. And again, I just, you know, I feel
- 14:55Speaker 2: so bad for Emily's son and that this is such
- 14:58Speaker 2: a big part of her story, which is it's her story,
- 15:00Speaker 2: but it's just like every time she wants to go
- 15:02Speaker 2: to a party, she goes to her mother-in-law's, you know,
- 15:05Speaker 2: Persian party and, you know, Luke's texting her the whole time.
- 15:08Speaker 2: And I'm like, God, I hate that Luke is always
- 15:11Speaker 2: being accused of ruining her good time, you know? So
- 15:13Speaker 2: that's her situation. And Shannon, there's just not a lot happening,
- 15:18Speaker 2: which is fine too, you know? Like that is her
- 15:22Speaker 2: life and she doesn't have to make up some weird
- 15:24Speaker 2: story to still be compelling to watch. So I will
- 15:28Speaker 2: give them all that. But I think that would be
- 15:31Speaker 2: really interesting, since not a lot happened in the season,
- 15:34Speaker 2: is to do more of a reunion of your time
- 15:36Speaker 2: on the show. What did you love about it? What
- 15:39Speaker 2: was the hardest part of the seasons? And where would
- 15:42Speaker 2: you want to go forward? And who in this group
- 15:45Speaker 2: do you see you continuing a relationship on it? And
- 15:49Speaker 2: maybe that way, if it is the finale finale, then
- 15:53Speaker 2: we really would have something that You know when like
- 15:55Speaker 2: big scripted shows get canceled or they end and they're like,
- 16:00Speaker 2: we never had that finale episode. We never had that moment.
- 16:04Speaker 2: They didn't tell us. We thought we were coming back.
- 16:06Speaker 2: And the actors and the fans and the crew and
- 16:08Speaker 2: the writers always felt like they were somehow gypped of
- 16:11Speaker 2: that moment versus like a Seinfeld or a Friends where
- 16:14Speaker 2: you know it's coming and this is the final episode
- 16:17Speaker 2: and we can all like say goodbye and mourn this
- 16:20Speaker 2: period of our lives together. And there's like a nice
- 16:23Speaker 2: button to it. I just hope that in the chance
- 16:27Speaker 2: that Real Housewives of OC doesn't come back in the
- 16:31Speaker 2: same type of capacity, I think that's what they should do.
- 16:36Speaker 2: And I kind of predict they might. Okay. Other weird
- 16:40Speaker 2: kind of crime. It's not crime news, but Um, Gypsy Rose,
- 16:45Speaker 2: you know, famous, the D is on fire. That girl who,
- 16:49Speaker 2: you know, had a horrible childhood. She was a victim
- 16:52Speaker 2: of Munchausen's by proxy. She, um, had a boyfriend who then, uh,
- 16:57Speaker 2: she coerced into killing her mother. She went to prison.
- 17:02Speaker 2: She had several boyfriends. She's come out. She had a
- 17:04Speaker 2: reality show. She came out marrying a man that looked
- 17:07Speaker 2: just like her mother and they filmed the reality show.
- 17:10Speaker 2: That's where she said his D was on fire. They
- 17:13Speaker 2: broke up. So then she gets with her other boyfriend
- 17:17Speaker 2: that she met after she divorces her husband and they
- 17:20Speaker 2: get pregnant. They are parents to a beautiful young girl.
- 17:25Speaker 2: They never got married. They were like kind of off
- 17:28Speaker 2: and on and she got some good plastic surgery. She
- 17:33Speaker 2: loves being in the limelight. It is how she makes
- 17:35Speaker 2: her money is being a public figure. The reality show
- 17:39Speaker 2: has ended. But I see her doing collabs with like
- 17:42Speaker 2: OnlyFans people and having like fake TMZ shoots or whatever,
- 17:46Speaker 2: wearing a wig. Listen, you know, the girl's got to
- 17:50Speaker 2: do what she's got to do. So then some sad
- 17:52Speaker 2: news happened in this week. We found out through her
- 17:56Speaker 2: baby daddy, fiance, ex-fiance, that he had passed. And weirdly,
- 18:03Speaker 2: her brother, Gypsy Rose's brother and his wife, went over
- 18:06Speaker 2: there to take him out for his birthday. Because Gypsy
- 18:10Speaker 2: and he were in a bad place. Apparently he had
- 18:15Speaker 2: either threatened or had filed to get sole custody of
- 18:18Speaker 2: the girl, of the little daughter. So they were not
- 18:21Speaker 2: getting along. Also prior to his death, these jailhouse calls
- 18:28Speaker 2: between them from back when she was in prison had
- 18:32Speaker 2: somehow they got access to them. And they both come
- 18:34Speaker 2: off horrible, horrible. There's racist things, even about her own
- 18:40Speaker 2: sister's husband. It was really bad. Now we know how
- 18:45Speaker 2: in this world and these people are popular public figures
- 18:49Speaker 2: in that section of fans that are kind of obsessed
- 18:53Speaker 2: with Gypsy. So I don't know if he was getting
- 18:55Speaker 2: a lot of awful things going on, but it was
- 18:57Speaker 2: his birthday. He did have plans. They were coming to
- 19:00Speaker 2: get him. His sister then went on live. to share
- 19:04Speaker 2: how she discovered that he is no longer with us.
- 19:09Speaker 2: So the news kind of went crazy right away. Gypsy
- 19:12Speaker 2: did make a statement to TMZ right away. And of course,
- 19:16Speaker 2: there was a lot of comments of where was Gypsy,
- 19:18Speaker 2: being that she you know, already did time for murder
- 19:22Speaker 2: for her mother. They were wondering what is happening here.
- 19:25Speaker 2: And from what I can tell, it doesn't appear like
- 19:28Speaker 2: there's any foul play. Very, you know, very sad. This
- 19:33Speaker 2: man was a father. You know, there's a little girl
- 19:36Speaker 2: now that no longer has a dad. But that was
- 19:38Speaker 2: just a crazy story, a sad, crazy story that I
- 19:42Speaker 2: knew that you guys would want to hear a little
- 19:45Speaker 2: bit about.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Okay.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Now, I don't know if you've seen the show The Swan.
- 19:51Speaker 2: The Hulu doc is available right now. I interviewed some
- 19:57Speaker 2: of the girls who were contestants, two of the girls
- 20:00Speaker 2: that was a contestant from season one and one from
- 20:02Speaker 2: season two. I watched The Swan. I was fascinated by it.
- 20:05Speaker 2: To remind you, It was where girls would go and
- 20:09Speaker 2: get all this plastic surgery, leave their family for three months,
- 20:12Speaker 2: and then come out and have their first reveal with
- 20:15Speaker 2: all the hair and makeup and a dress. And it
- 20:17Speaker 2: was just a very iconic moment in reality TV. And
- 20:23Speaker 2: in this day and age, in 2026, there's a lot
- 20:26Speaker 2: of things that just would never fly today that is
- 20:28Speaker 2: quite horrifying.
- 20:30Speaker 4: Dr.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Dubrow, Terry Dubrow, was one of the plastic surgeons working
- 20:36Speaker 2: on the show, and we get into that and why
- 20:39Speaker 2: he may or may not have wanted to participate. I
- 20:43Speaker 2: talked to the director. At this time, it was before
- 20:48Speaker 2: I could watch the episode, so I am asking questions
- 20:53Speaker 2: as someone who watched the original show as just a
- 20:56Speaker 2: viewer and didn't know all the backstory, which is shared
- 20:58Speaker 2: in the very interesting documentary. I think you're going to
- 21:03Speaker 2: really enjoy it. Whether you remember the show or you
- 21:07Speaker 2: saw the doc or not, this is an interesting one
- 21:09Speaker 2: of what happens when you enter a contest to be
- 21:12Speaker 2: on a reality show, to get a ton of free
- 21:15Speaker 2: plastic surgery, to look like the typical epitome of beauty
- 21:23Speaker 2: in 2004 to 2006, that era of Paris Hilton and
- 21:29Speaker 2: being skinny and wearing the low-rise jeans and, you know,
- 21:33Speaker 2: that whole style and how important it was to look
- 21:37Speaker 2: a certain way and what they would consider heavy, which
- 21:40Speaker 2: would not be considered heavy today, and how they got
- 21:43Speaker 2: them to look the most perfect they could in just
- 21:47Speaker 2: this short period of time of healing from massive surgery
- 21:52Speaker 2: and multiple surgeries, multiple surgeries, and where the women are
- 21:57Speaker 2: 20 years later after having the experience. And it's really
- 22:00Speaker 2: quite interesting how they kept in touch, what sticked, what didn't,
- 22:04Speaker 2: what was good, what wasn't, and why they thought this
- 22:09Speaker 2: was a good idea in the first place. So here
- 22:11Speaker 2: we go with my interviews with the director and two
- 22:14Speaker 2: of the stars of The Swan and the Hulu doc
- 22:17Speaker 2: about The Swan. Let's go. You know, there's different times
- 22:21Speaker 2: in your life where life gets different. You're aging. Maybe

- 25:51Speaker 2: Many of my Juicy Scoopers... We're as excited as I
- 25:55Speaker 2: am about the documentary that we wondered more than any
- 26:00Speaker 2: show we've ever seen is where are the swans now?
- 26:04Speaker 2: The very exciting, controversial, especially controversial looking back now, but
- 26:10Speaker 2: the series The Swan in which women would volunteer themselves
- 26:15Speaker 2: to go from, I mean, this is such an awful thing,
- 26:18Speaker 2: an ugly duckling, to a swan with the help of diet,
- 26:23Speaker 2: cosmetic dentistry, plastic surgery, hair, makeup, fitness, diet, and therapy.
- 26:32Speaker 2: And I am here with the director and two of
- 26:35Speaker 2: the swans. Welcome all of you guys to Juicy Scoop.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Thank you for doing this.
- 26:40Speaker 3: I'm happy to be here. Thank you so much.
- 26:42Speaker 2: So let's start with you, Erin.
- 26:44Speaker 3: You're the director.
- 26:46Speaker 2: How did this project come about, first of all?
- 26:50Speaker 4: I was a teenager when the show came out and
- 26:53Speaker 4: I sneaked an episode thinking that uh, that it was
- 26:57Speaker 4: going to be something, Ooh, I couldn't watch it. It
- 26:59Speaker 4: was like, people were talking about it. And here were
- 27:01Speaker 4: these women who I thought looked completely like normal to me.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Like I was like, no, if that's the people they're
- 27:08Speaker 4: picking for the show, like, what does it mean for me?
- 27:11Speaker 4: But then this like very big, huge, um, sort of
- 27:15Speaker 4: wild thing of like, we want to try to see
- 27:18Speaker 4: if plastic surgery can change someone from the inside out.
- 27:21Speaker 4: And so as somebody who makes things and makes films
- 27:25Speaker 4: about the empowerment of women, when Hulu approached me and said,
- 27:29Speaker 4: we're going to be making this doc about the reality
- 27:32Speaker 4: show from 2004, The Swan, I.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Was like, yes, nope, I've got it.
- 27:37Speaker 4: Don't go any farther, please, please. And then I started
- 27:40Speaker 4: getting on conversations with Carrie and Christy and a And
- 27:46Speaker 4: the stories just started to flow. You think you know
- 27:50Speaker 4: what happened because of the show, but it's so not true.
- 27:54Speaker 4: And through the course of the documentaries, all the tea
- 27:57Speaker 4: is spilled.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Well, let's start with, well, I've got Carrie and Christy here.
- 28:03Speaker 2: You guys both look gorgeous still today. And why don't
- 28:09Speaker 2: we start with you, Carrie? We'll start with you, Carrie,
- 28:12Speaker 2: a little bit. How did you decide to possibly go
- 28:18Speaker 2: on this show? And what season were you? And just
- 28:21Speaker 2: give us a little background.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Yeah, so I was on season two when season one
- 28:26Speaker 3: was airing, my sister Gina. Um, she called me while
- 28:31Speaker 3: she was watching an episode and said, they're casting for
- 28:35Speaker 3: season two. Um, I think this is something that I
- 28:39Speaker 3: really want to look into. And then she went onto
- 28:41Speaker 3: Craigslist cause that's how it was back then. Um, and
- 28:45Speaker 3: they were looking for sisters. So she called me immediately
- 28:49Speaker 3: and she said, I'm on my way over. I have
- 28:50Speaker 3: my video camera. Like you don't have a choice. We
- 28:53Speaker 3: are auditioning and we are doing this together. And honestly,
- 28:56Speaker 3: I was like.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Okay, like, you know, Why not?
- 29:00Speaker 3: Where did you and your sister live? We lived in
- 29:04Speaker 3: Orange County in California. So we were not far from LA.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Yeah, and you're no stranger to plastic surgery living there?
- 29:14Speaker 2: And was it just something that you were like, this
- 29:15Speaker 2: is a way to get all these things done for free?
- 29:20Speaker 2: Or what was your motivation to try out for the show?
- 29:23Speaker 3: I had one motivation and that was breast reduction. I
- 29:26Speaker 3: was 23 when we submitted our audition video. I had
- 29:30Speaker 3: already been to my doctor asking for reduction and every
- 29:34Speaker 3: insurance company says, you're too young. You haven't even had
- 29:37Speaker 3: kids yet. Like we can't cover this. But I was
- 29:41Speaker 3: huge and it was painful. And for me, when my
- 29:45Speaker 3: sister said that, that was my ticket for reduction. I
- 29:48Speaker 3: didn't think about a single other surgery. That's the first
- 29:52Speaker 3: thing that I wanted.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Okay, before we hear about your experience, once you've gone
- 29:57Speaker 2: on the show, let's go to Christy Garza and tell
- 30:00Speaker 2: me a little bit of how you decided to go
- 30:03Speaker 2: on it.
- 30:03Speaker 5: I was getting ready to complete my contract, active duty
- 30:07Speaker 5: contract in the United States Army.
- 30:09Speaker 3: And so I was looking for, you know, a path.
- 30:13Speaker 3: What am I going to do?
- 30:14Speaker 5: I was watching the TV one morning and it was
- 30:16Speaker 5: KTLA and they advertised.
- 30:18Speaker 3: For a life makeover. And I was like, oh, a
- 30:20Speaker 3: life makeover. And then, of course, they mentioned the life
- 30:23Speaker 3: coach and the career coach and, you know, the fitness
- 30:28Speaker 3: trainer and plastic surgery.
- 30:31Speaker 5: Because unlike Carrie, I had one child and my poor
- 30:36Speaker 5: titties just didn't make it. And yes, I was.
- 30:39Speaker 3: 22 years old and looked like I had cow teats,
- 30:42Speaker 3: like I could be milk to feed a village. But anyway,
- 30:45Speaker 3: so I was like, ooh, teeth and titties. Yeah, I
- 30:47Speaker 3: need that.
- 30:48Speaker 5: And also the other stuff is cool, too. I grew
- 30:50Speaker 5: up as a tomboy, and so I never really felt cute.
- 30:53Speaker 5: I always just, I mean, I always felt like, you know,
- 30:57Speaker 5: one of the guys or whatever. And I wanted to
- 30:59Speaker 5: feel pretty. I was like, make me pretty.
- 31:01Speaker 3: I want to do that. That sounds cool.
- 31:04Speaker 2: So when you get word that you are going to
- 31:06Speaker 2: go on this show, take us a little bit through, like,
- 31:11Speaker 2: how beginning to end, how long... you're doing it for?
- 31:15Speaker 2: Are you, I assume, the way I recall, you're kind
- 31:18Speaker 2: of like in housing there throughout all the process of
- 31:22Speaker 2: all the surgery. And you cannot, the other thing I
- 31:27Speaker 2: always remember is that there were no mirrors, right? So
- 31:29Speaker 2: you had, they didn't want you to see yourself until
- 31:32Speaker 2: you walked out of those doors with the panel and
- 31:36Speaker 2: the doctors and the other contestants who were also vying
- 31:39Speaker 2: for the best swan.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Can you explain? Season one and season two, those are
- 31:43Speaker 3: two different answers, I guess. So do you want to hear,
- 31:46Speaker 3: which one do you want to hear first?
- 31:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Christy, why don't you tell us your story?
- 31:52Speaker 3: Okay, so.
- 31:55Speaker 5: We were there about three months from my recollection. And
- 31:59Speaker 5: we did not know about the NoMirror thing until we
- 32:02Speaker 5: were already there, signed in, locked in. And that was
- 32:07Speaker 5: very surprising. Those three months of being sequestered was insane.
- 32:14Speaker 5: I know that it was supposed to, it was, they
- 32:17Speaker 5: spun it as if, you know, this is going to
- 32:18Speaker 5: be great. You can focus on your internal transformation. That
- 32:22Speaker 5: was not my experience. I couldn't have been anything further
- 32:25Speaker 5: from what my experience was.
- 32:29Speaker 4: It was wild.
- 32:30Speaker 3: It was wild. And the surprises just kept coming. We
- 32:33Speaker 3: just kept getting all the surprises.
- 32:37Speaker 2: What were some of the things that was, what were
- 32:39Speaker 2: some of the surprises?
- 32:41Speaker 3: Sorry, go ahead, Christy.
- 32:43Speaker 5: It was surprising with the mirror thing. And then, you know,
- 32:46Speaker 5: much later down the road, we were surprised with the
- 32:48Speaker 5: pageant thing. And it was also surprising that we were
- 32:51Speaker 5: going to be on this processed food Jenny Craig diet.
- 32:55Speaker 5: I don't think that was a good call there. And
- 32:58Speaker 5: that's coming from somebody who had been living the past
- 33:00Speaker 5: five years of their life eating MREs and eating in
- 33:03Speaker 5: a shower.
- 33:04Speaker 4: I think that it just was like, so much of
- 33:06Speaker 4: it was unclear to the participants that had signed up.
- 33:10Speaker 4: And I think audiences from 2026 and audiences from 2004
- 33:15Speaker 4: were like, well, why would they sign up?
- 33:16Speaker 2: And it's like, they didn't know about the pageant. They
- 33:19Speaker 2: didn't know about the food. They didn't know that they'd
- 33:22Speaker 2: have to.
- 33:22Speaker 4: Work out so much after surgery, so much of it.
- 33:25Speaker 4: And then ultimately that they would be competing against each other.
- 33:29Speaker 4: And then, and Carrie can speak to this, And then
- 33:32Speaker 4: so so some of that was known in season two,
- 33:36Speaker 4: but then it.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Just got wilder and weirder.
- 33:39Speaker 4: And the humanity sort of like left the building, so
- 33:43Speaker 4: to speak.
- 33:45Speaker 3: I ended up feeling like cattle.
- 33:48Speaker 5: I felt like I was just a pawn in somebody's game,
- 33:51Speaker 5: like it was for money or clout.
- 33:52Speaker 3: And none of that was going to me. I was
- 33:54Speaker 3: there for somebody else's benefit.
- 33:58Speaker 2: When you were doing it, Christy, you said you had
- 34:00Speaker 2: a young child. Were you able to be with your
- 34:03Speaker 2: child or did you have to have someone take care
- 34:06Speaker 2: of the child the whole time or what?
- 34:09Speaker 5: No, you have to leave everything. You have to leave
- 34:10Speaker 5: your family. You only get like one or two phone
- 34:12Speaker 5: calls a week, if that, and then you're not guaranteed that.
- 34:16Speaker 5: My daughter was very.
- 34:18Speaker 2: Young at the time. I think she was, let's see, 2004.
- 34:21Speaker 2: She was three years old.
- 34:23Speaker 5: And so she went to be with my then husband's mother.
- 34:27Speaker 5: And yeah, we had to leave our friend's family and
- 34:31Speaker 5: most of our pride behind to go do this.
- 34:36Speaker 2: And, and then Carrie, why don't you tell us a
- 34:38Speaker 2: little bit about, so you and your sister go, you're
- 34:41Speaker 2: season two. Do you get to share?
- 34:44Speaker 3: Huh? Yeah. So my sister didn't know I was there.
- 34:50Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I didn't know my sister was there. We
- 34:52Speaker 3: auditioned together. They basically pulled in my driveway and said,
- 34:57Speaker 3: guess what, Carrie, you're going to be a swan. And
- 34:58Speaker 3: then they said, And then they made me tell my
- 35:01Speaker 3: sister on camera that she wasn't. They decided to choose
- 35:05Speaker 3: only one of us. So right then and there for me,
- 35:08Speaker 3: this is not what I signed up for. I didn't
- 35:11Speaker 3: even want to do it without her, but she made
- 35:13Speaker 3: me promise that I would. So I go away and
- 35:18Speaker 3: after I leave, they tell her, guess what, Gina, you're
- 35:21Speaker 3: going to be there too, but it's a secret. Don't
- 35:23Speaker 3: tell your sister. And then they proceed to threaten her
- 35:27Speaker 3: with multiple lawsuits if she told me.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 35:31Speaker 6: So, yeah.
- 35:34Speaker 3: Yeah. That's really interesting.
- 35:35Speaker 2: To say the least. I had somebody recently that went
- 35:39Speaker 2: on the Bachelor-type franchise, okay? And I just couldn't believe
- 35:46Speaker 2: how freaked out they made her feel. Um, after she left,
- 35:51Speaker 2: you know, the bachelor, how it works. Um, like you better,
- 35:54Speaker 2: if you say one word, if you, it's going to
- 35:57Speaker 2: be $ 25, 000 per thing that you say and do. And
- 36:01Speaker 2: it was like this, and she was, you know, not
- 36:04Speaker 2: part of the entertainment business and she was so stressed out.
- 36:06Speaker 2: And I was trying to tell her, I go like,
- 36:08Speaker 2: first of all, don't worry, because she was, you know,
- 36:11Speaker 2: sharing some stuff with me. And I go, but also, like,
- 36:16Speaker 2: I've interviewed people. And, you know, in this franchise for
- 36:19Speaker 2: 11 years, and no one's ever been sued. So but
- 36:23Speaker 2: it's like the the scariness of it of like being
- 36:27Speaker 2: thrown into this room where then the attorney comes in
- 36:30Speaker 2: and just like, that is what I think is just
- 36:33Speaker 2: so bizarre.
- 36:35Speaker 4: And interestingly, we actually have so the trainer from season two, Debbie,
- 36:41Speaker 4: was a like a very big contestant on the Golden Bachelor.
- 36:45Speaker 4: She made it all the way to the very end.
- 36:49Speaker 4: And so the swan and the bachelor are in are
- 36:52Speaker 4: sort of linked in these interesting ways.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 36:56Speaker 2: That is true. So, Carrie, so you get there and
- 37:02Speaker 2: let's tell me a little bit about your journey and
- 37:04Speaker 2: what you had done and stuff.
- 37:07Speaker 3: So I had breast reduction. I had a brow lift,
- 37:12Speaker 3: liposuction from head to toe. They did something to my eyes.
- 37:17Speaker 3: They're shaped differently. I don't even know the extent of
- 37:20Speaker 3: every single thing I had done, but it was a lot.
- 37:24Speaker 2: And then, you know, teeth.
- 37:26Speaker 3: But the whole time I was there, for me and
- 37:31Speaker 3: my story, they just basically treated me like What's it
- 37:35Speaker 3: like to know that you're going to be beautiful and
- 37:36Speaker 3: your sister's not? And they used her kind of against
- 37:41Speaker 3: me in this weird way. Yeah. Yeah, it was awful.
- 37:46Speaker 3: I think they just wanted to see if they could
- 37:49Speaker 3: break our bond and break our family. And they can't.
- 37:52Speaker 3: And they didn't. And we're stronger than ever.
- 37:56Speaker 2: So after the months... May, you know, did every girl
- 38:03Speaker 2: have hair extensions? I mean, sometimes it was a little like,
- 38:07Speaker 2: you know, Miss Piggy walking out with this big frickin wig,
- 38:10Speaker 2: you know, and I was just always like, God, does everyone?
- 38:12Speaker 2: And then I always wondered, like, what happens when you
- 38:14Speaker 2: leave and you can't afford to keep up with the
- 38:16Speaker 2: hair extensions and the hair color and everything?
- 38:20Speaker 3: What did they do to your hair? I definitely had extensions.
- 38:23Speaker 3: And the week that I went home, I took them
- 38:26Speaker 3: out because I knew it was not something I could
- 38:29Speaker 3: keep up with. you know, go home, wash all the
- 38:32Speaker 3: makeup off, take the fake hair off. And then all
- 38:34Speaker 3: of a sudden you kind of recognize yourself again. Yeah.
- 38:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:39Speaker 4: And I think that one of the things that was
- 38:43Speaker 4: interesting was that certain contestants felt like They were styled
- 38:49Speaker 4: in certain ways to suggest if they were winning or losing.
- 38:53Speaker 4: I think that you could very clearly see the people
- 38:57Speaker 4: like in episode one, Rachel Love Frazier, who would go
- 39:01Speaker 4: on to win this one. how she looked in her
- 39:04Speaker 4: evening gown. And then you had other people like Kathy Weber,
- 39:08Speaker 4: who was asked to, you know, to, you know, who
- 39:11Speaker 4: not was asked who is wearing a motorcycle jacket.
- 39:14Speaker 3: Right.
- 39:14Speaker 4: And so there were these different levels. And then I want,
- 39:17Speaker 4: I want Christy to talk about her bangs because they
- 39:20Speaker 4: gave my girl some messed up bangs and we think
- 39:25Speaker 4: it was sabotage. Go ahead, Christy.
- 39:27Speaker 3: Seen better. I, seen better-looking women at Bubba Dale and
- 39:33Speaker 3: Billy Bob's beauty review down at the used car lot.
- 39:37Speaker 3: I was just like, what fresh hell is this? Like,
- 39:41Speaker 3: I grew up with bad bangs. You know, I have
- 39:43Speaker 3: an IMAX forehead, so my mom was always like, oh,
- 39:45Speaker 3: we're going to camouflage this. You know, and so I
- 39:49Speaker 3: was like, what? what am I looking at? This is
- 39:52Speaker 3: a train wreck. And, and the extent.
- 39:55Speaker 4: You have to see it. Like she comes out and
- 39:57Speaker 4: Christy is a crowd favorite of the entire season. She's
- 40:00Speaker 4: former army. She's a spitfire. Then now like a total badass.
- 40:06Speaker 2: And then, yeah.
- 40:07Speaker 4: And then she like comes out and everyone's like, why
- 40:11Speaker 4: did you, what did you, what is going on with
- 40:13Speaker 4: her bangs? And like, it legitimately didn't make sense.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Right. Christy.
- 40:17Speaker 4: Like, How did you feel when they were putting the
- 40:19Speaker 4: bangs on you?
- 40:20Speaker 2: It made zero sense, but I had no clue.
- 40:22Speaker 3: But I do know that I sat in that damn
- 40:24Speaker 3: chair for like eight hours or nine hours getting those extensions.
- 40:27Speaker 3: And I was like, these are really long. Like, and
- 40:29Speaker 3: they were very heavy and it just destroyed my hair
- 40:32Speaker 3: for years after that. But, you know, and another thing
- 40:35Speaker 3: about the whole reveal is, They put me in a
- 40:37Speaker 3: long sleeve dress.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Like I looked like I was going to a Baptist
- 40:40Speaker 2: pot look.
- 40:41Speaker 3: You know what I mean? I'm like, this is supposed
- 40:42Speaker 3: to be my big reveal. And I was just like, what?
- 40:46Speaker 3: Why would you give me this long sleeve Tadashi gown?
- 40:48Speaker 3: You know, they kept saying it's a Tadashi gown. I'm like, OK, great.
- 40:52Speaker 4: But how many times did you have to do the reveal?
- 40:56Speaker 3: Oh, oh, gosh, that day was torturous. It was a nightmare.
- 41:00Speaker 5: I think I sat in that mansion that they had
- 41:02Speaker 5: rented for like 14 hours. It was sweltering hot in
- 41:06Speaker 5: there and I was like dripping sweat and, you know,
- 41:09Speaker 5: like airing out my pits. And they would come in
- 41:12Speaker 5: there and just put more makeup on my face. And
- 41:13Speaker 5: I'm like, oh, I was hungry. I was thirsty. They're like, okay,
- 41:17Speaker 5: it's going to be soon. It's going to be soon.
- 41:21Speaker 5: I don't remember how many times they had me do
- 41:23Speaker 5: the reveal, but I do remember she would come in
- 41:25Speaker 5: there and.
- 41:25Speaker 3: Be like, hey, I need a big reaction. It has
- 41:28Speaker 3: to be big.
- 41:28Speaker 5: You know, I need tears and I need you to
- 41:30Speaker 5: act like, you know, it's Christmas morning and And all
- 41:33Speaker 5: of this. So I don't know if you've seen the
- 41:36Speaker 5: original show, Heather, but when you watch it, you know,
- 41:39Speaker 5: if anybody that can read body language, you can see
- 41:42Speaker 5: my eyes are trying to be happy, but I cover
- 41:44Speaker 5: my face. And so, you know, I'm from a military
- 41:48Speaker 5: intelligence background and interrogations and military police, all of these things.
- 41:54Speaker 5: And so I can read people's body language. And when
- 41:56Speaker 5: I go back and watch myself, I'm like, oh, I
- 41:58Speaker 5: was horrified.
- 41:59Speaker 3: I was horrified. I look like a beep. a B
- 42:04Speaker 3: actor in a low budget movie. You know, it's like, what,
- 42:08Speaker 3: what the hell am I looking at?

- 44:21Speaker 3: This is... So what was everything you had done, Kristen? Oh,
- 44:27Speaker 3: much like Carrie, I honestly, I don't even know everything.
- 44:30Speaker 3: I had to see it when I watched the show,
- 44:32Speaker 3: which I've only watched one time, and that was when
- 44:34Speaker 3: it aired because I was disgusted. I was mortified. I
- 44:38Speaker 3: had a brow lift, liposuction, breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, laser skin resurfacing,
- 44:44Speaker 3: and then... Whatever else they talk about on the show.
- 44:47Speaker 5: Honestly, I didn't give a damn about it. I am
- 44:50Speaker 5: super happy with the plastic surgery. Still am to this day.
- 44:53Speaker 5: I call these my season ones.
- 44:55Speaker 3: And I love them. I still love them.
- 44:56Speaker 5: The teeth have been a total pain in my ass.
- 44:59Speaker 5: And I'm actually missing a lot of teeth in the
- 45:01Speaker 5: back because I don't know what she had going on.
- 45:03Speaker 5: But those crowns and all the things that she did
- 45:06Speaker 5: weren't sealed properly, weren't seated properly. And so I've been
- 45:10Speaker 5: losing teeth over here like, I mean, just left and right.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Really, that's terrible because dentistry is so expensive. And I
- 45:21Speaker 2: would have thought that would have been one of the
- 45:23Speaker 2: best things that would have come out of it, you know?
- 45:26Speaker 3: No, if you look up close, this is a, they're
- 45:29Speaker 3: about to be summer teeth. Some are here, some are there,
- 45:31Speaker 3: some are missing. That's what they're, yeah. If I get,
- 45:35Speaker 3: if it gets two more jacked up in there, I'm
- 45:36Speaker 3: gonna look like Metheny, a crystal Methodist. That's what I'm
- 45:39Speaker 3: gonna look like.
- 45:40Speaker 2: When you go to another dentist, did they think that
- 45:42Speaker 2: maybe the work was rushed or what?
- 45:47Speaker 3: I've just been told that they did it completely improperly
- 45:49Speaker 3: and they should not have shaved down my teeth the
- 45:51Speaker 3: way that they did.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Way over-processed.
- 45:53Speaker 5: We can never go without veneers now. We have to
- 45:55Speaker 5: have them because all we have are these tiny little,
- 45:58Speaker 5: not even chiclets. We don't even have chiclets left. They
- 46:00Speaker 5: look like tiny little, I mean, the cord on the
- 46:04Speaker 5: cough has bigger kernels than we have of our actual
- 46:07Speaker 5: teeth left.
- 46:08Speaker 4: And it's important to say that the dentist that was
- 46:11Speaker 4: on the show is no longer practicing dentistry.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Well, that's a great sign.
- 46:16Speaker 4: So without knowing, she did not return requests for comment
- 46:22Speaker 4: or to be interviewed. My producer, Rachel Bozich, reached out
- 46:25Speaker 4: to her many times. But I think that the teeth
- 46:31Speaker 4: and how much they showed and that every single person
- 46:35Speaker 4: needed to get Da Vinci veneers was one of the
- 46:38Speaker 4: big red flags of the show.
- 46:41Speaker 2: Yes, totally.
- 46:42Speaker 3: I did not want that.
- 46:43Speaker 2: It's like one size fits all kind of a makeover, which,
- 46:47Speaker 2: you know, instead of really looking at the individual person. Well,
- 46:51Speaker 2: I'm curious, did any, did either of you guys get
- 46:55Speaker 2: like lip filler or filler in your face? Because that's
- 46:59Speaker 2: something that has to be kept up. So I'm curious
- 47:01Speaker 2: how that worked out.
- 47:04Speaker 3: I'm very thankful that instead of, My doctor suggested that
- 47:09Speaker 3: we do fat transfer. So it was my own fat
- 47:13Speaker 3: transferring to other places. And then when it's your own,
- 47:15Speaker 3: it doesn't dissolve and you don't have to get it redone.
- 47:18Speaker 3: So thankfully for me, that was hope once and never again.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Where did you get it transferred to? I know my
- 47:26Speaker 3: lips and under my eyes, probably all around here. But again,
- 47:32Speaker 3: we don't really know what happened.
- 47:33Speaker 4: It's fat pad removal from your face and then injecting.
- 47:37Speaker 3: So I had the fat pads removed, but then I had...
- 47:40Speaker 3: So we jokingly have called me ass face because I
- 47:44Speaker 3: had fat from my ass transferred to my lips and
- 47:47Speaker 3: under my eyes.
- 47:47Speaker 2: And I'm like, yeah. And what about you, Christy? Did
- 47:53Speaker 2: you have that?
- 47:54Speaker 3: I did. I had... I had injection. They would actually
- 47:59Speaker 3: come to our room with vials of like Botox and
- 48:02Speaker 3: filler and Restylane and all, you know, all these things.
- 48:05Speaker 3: I don't know all the names. I don't do it.
- 48:07Speaker 5: Honestly, like I've got a caviar taste on a tuna
- 48:10Speaker 5: fish budget. So I'm just over here like slapping on
- 48:12Speaker 5: whatever I can get at Sephora or Ulta.
- 48:16Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 48:16Speaker 5: But yeah, they would come in there and just pump
- 48:18Speaker 5: us up. We'd sit and one girl would be, well,
- 48:21Speaker 5: sometimes we'd have parties where several girls would be in
- 48:23Speaker 5: one room. And then they would come in there and
- 48:26Speaker 5: service us all with all the things. And some, I
- 48:30Speaker 5: actually still have a knot on inside my upper lip
- 48:33Speaker 5: from one of the fillers. I guess it wasn't squished
- 48:35Speaker 5: out enough or something. I remember that being an agonizing
- 48:38Speaker 5: part of that. They had to like inject it and
- 48:41Speaker 5: then squish your lip to like.
- 48:43Speaker 3: Even it out or whatever. I do.
- 48:47Speaker 5: I'm not going to lie and say I'm not self-confident.
- 48:49Speaker 5: I mean, self-conscious sometimes about my wrinkles and, you know,
- 48:53Speaker 5: my lips being wrinkly and stuff like that. But I
- 48:56Speaker 5: also love the sun and I love a good cigarette
- 48:59Speaker 5: and I'll drink my wine. And, you know, I just,
- 49:02Speaker 5: I could give two flying flips about what anybody thinks
- 49:04Speaker 5: about me anymore. If you can't whoop my ass, you
- 49:06Speaker 5: better not say it to my face.
- 49:09Speaker 2: So, so once you did the show and you came
- 49:13Speaker 2: home and it sounds like, what was your initial thought?
- 49:18Speaker 2: Were you happy at first? And then it became kind
- 49:20Speaker 2: of embarrassing. Did people ever recognize you from the show or, uh,
- 49:26Speaker 2: you know, or just people that knew you from the
- 49:27Speaker 2: neighborhood knew that you went to it and when you're
- 49:29Speaker 2: like kind of jealous and called you like, you know, Oh,
- 49:32Speaker 2: everything on you is fake. Like, I kind of want
- 49:33Speaker 2: to know the response from home. Didn't.
- 49:39Speaker 3: I never was recognized. I never had anyone I don't
- 49:41Speaker 3: know stop me and say anything. I had a couple
- 49:45Speaker 3: of random messages once I created a Facebook, but, um,
- 49:49Speaker 3: you know, I, I'm thankfully anyone I knew, they just
- 49:54Speaker 3: were like, Oh, that's cool. Like no one was mean
- 49:56Speaker 3: about it. We didn't have social media back then or
- 49:57Speaker 3: else I'm sure it would have been a lot uglier, but, um, no,
- 50:02Speaker 3: I just kind of went back home and, um, Aside
- 50:05Speaker 3: from worrying about my teeth falling out, I loved everything
- 50:07Speaker 3: I had done. I was super happy. But I went
- 50:09Speaker 3: home and went back to normal life.
- 50:13Speaker 2: What about you, Christy?
- 50:14Speaker 3: It's in a transition phase of my life. So while
- 50:19Speaker 3: I was on the Swan, my husband at the time
- 50:22Speaker 3: moved all of our things to a little town close
- 50:25Speaker 3: to San Diego. And so I didn't really know anybody
- 50:28Speaker 3: when I got there after the Swan. Pretty much it
- 50:30Speaker 3: was just our friends and family that knew about it.
- 50:34Speaker 3: But after watching how they edited it and how they
- 50:37Speaker 3: portrayed me in that show with my then husband and
- 50:42Speaker 3: all of our friends, which were mostly military and their
- 50:44Speaker 3: wives or husbands and vice versa, I was mortified. I
- 50:48Speaker 3: was completely embarrassed. I would have rather walked out in
- 50:52Speaker 3: public and told somebody I had an STD than to
- 50:54Speaker 3: tell them I was on the swan.
- 50:56Speaker 5: I was, I mean, beyond embarrassed. And for years, like
- 51:01Speaker 5: when people bring it up, aren't you? And immediately after
- 51:05Speaker 5: the guy that did the PR for Fox, he was
- 51:09Speaker 5: super sweet and he would get me tickets to go
- 51:11Speaker 5: do things. I was on the Ryan Seacrest show. And
- 51:14Speaker 5: probably the coolest thing that ever happened to me was
- 51:17Speaker 5: this single dad and his daughter were waiting outside of
- 51:20Speaker 5: the Ryan Seacrest show. And she was like, I love
- 51:22Speaker 5: you so much. And she's like, you turned out so pretty.
- 51:25Speaker 5: And she asked me for my autograph. And thinking back
- 51:28Speaker 5: to that, I wish I could find that little girl
- 51:30Speaker 5: because I have so much to tell her. Like, You know,
- 51:33Speaker 5: I mean, I'm sure she's not little now, but I
- 51:35Speaker 5: just remember being so touched and being like, OK, well,
- 51:37Speaker 5: maybe some good did come out of this. But yeah,
- 51:40Speaker 5: it was weird. And also seeing yourself in magazines after
- 51:43Speaker 5: and you're like, I don't know. It's still weird now
- 51:46Speaker 5: with the documentary coming out. You know, it's like I'm
- 51:48Speaker 5: just a plain old Jane over here just trying to
- 51:52Speaker 5: hang in like hair in a biscuit. I'm trying to
- 51:53Speaker 5: stay six feet up and ten toes down. And I
- 51:57Speaker 5: love all the expressions.
- 51:58Speaker 2: So when... When they approached you guys as past contestants saying,
- 52:05Speaker 2: do you want to be part of this and just,
- 52:07Speaker 2: you know, reflect on it and tell the truth? Did
- 52:09Speaker 2: you have any reservations about being on the dock?
- 52:13Speaker 3: A ton. I had a ton of reservations because after
- 52:19Speaker 3: going through what we went through back then, how.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Do we trust you?
- 52:23Speaker 3: How do we know you're not going to twist our words? Like,
- 52:25Speaker 3: do you really have our best interest at heart? And
- 52:29Speaker 3: every time, It would move a step forward. I think
- 52:33Speaker 3: I would reset my, oh gosh, am I doing the
- 52:35Speaker 3: right thing? Until we met Aaron. I think once Aaron
- 52:38Speaker 3: came on, every worry I had went away. It was
- 52:43Speaker 3: the same for me.
- 52:45Speaker 2: Good. And now, so Christy, since you were on season one,
- 52:50Speaker 2: so you did have the no mirrors until that moment thing, right?
- 52:56Speaker 2: And how did they tell you you're not going to
- 52:57Speaker 2: see a mirror for three months?
- 53:00Speaker 3: They told us when we walked in the apartment, girl,
- 53:02Speaker 3: and there was contact paper over the mirror. And then
- 53:05Speaker 3: there was aerosol deodorant sprayed over every reflective surface.
- 53:10Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 53:12Speaker 5: I mean, if I'm going to be honest with you, like,
- 53:14Speaker 5: I did see myself a couple times when these people
- 53:16Speaker 5: were taking us to appointments. And one time they took
- 53:18Speaker 5: me to Dr. Dubrow's office, and I went to go
- 53:20Speaker 5: to the bathroom, and there was nothing on the mirror.
- 53:22Speaker 3: So I was like... I mean, I was all up
- 53:25Speaker 3: in it. So, you know, I.
- 53:27Speaker 2: And what did you think when you saw yourself in
- 53:29Speaker 2: that mirror at that point?
- 53:31Speaker 3: Hell to the no.
- 53:32Speaker 2: Like, what is going on? I look like Franken-bitch. That's
- 53:35Speaker 2: what I look like. Because you were still swollen from
- 53:38Speaker 2: the surgery or what? And I had had that laser
- 53:41Speaker 2: skin resurfacing. So I literally was walking around like a
- 53:44Speaker 2: burn victim. So, I mean, maybe that was good, though.
- 53:48Speaker 2: Now I'm thinking maybe that was a good element of the.
- 53:52Speaker 2: Of the process, not letting you see each other, see yourself,
- 53:56Speaker 2: because it is hard. I mean, I've had, I'm no
- 53:58Speaker 2: stranger to getting stuff done. And, you know, there's times
- 54:03Speaker 2: even just with simple injections and stuff that go wrong
- 54:06Speaker 2: or you don't, you know, like I once had like a,
- 54:11Speaker 2: like a liquid nose job years ago. And I just
- 54:15Speaker 2: remember I like woke up the next day and it
- 54:18Speaker 2: was just like so swollen and But then it was fine.
- 54:22Speaker 2: And I like it worked out. I haven't done it
- 54:25Speaker 2: in like 10, 10, 12 years, but I liked it.
- 54:29Speaker 2: But it was that that panic, like and I was
- 54:31Speaker 2: trying to like do my makeup and look normal that day.
- 54:34Speaker 2: So I do kind of think that isn't the worst
- 54:36Speaker 2: thing in the world to say, like, don't look in
- 54:39Speaker 2: the mirror until you're, you know, swollen, swollen, you're swollen.
- 54:43Speaker 5: I think that it wasn't the worst thing in the world,
- 54:46Speaker 5: but the way it was framed to us, like everything
- 54:48Speaker 5: was just a farce. And I think that's the thing
- 54:50Speaker 5: that pisses me off the most. You know, they said, oh,
- 54:52Speaker 5: we don't want you to see yourself so you can
- 54:54Speaker 5: focus on your internal transformation. And then I think I
- 54:57Speaker 5: can only remember going to therapy three different times. She
- 55:00Speaker 5: never wanted to talk about my self-esteem issues. She wanted
- 55:02Speaker 5: to talk about my relationship. So am I here for
- 55:04Speaker 5: him or am I here for me? Like, I want
- 55:06Speaker 5: to know why I don't like myself. Can we work
- 55:09Speaker 5: on that? And it was just the life coaching thing
- 55:11Speaker 5: was complete BS. It was just like, well, it.
- 55:16Speaker 2: Sounds like it was all for the TV show. So
- 55:19Speaker 2: I'm sure that the life coach and the therapist had
- 55:22Speaker 2: the instructions that it's a lot more juicy to the
- 55:25Speaker 2: viewer to hear about your relationship with your husband than
- 55:30Speaker 2: hear about, you know, something else that isn't as tantalizing
- 55:34Speaker 2: to the audience.
- 55:35Speaker 4: Well, the thing is the show started off by Nellie Galan.
- 55:38Speaker 4: That's the creator of the show. And she said, and
- 55:41Speaker 4: how she sold it, to the participants through the casting
- 55:45Speaker 4: process as you are going to go through an internal
- 55:47Speaker 4: and external transformation. The creator of the show ended up
- 55:51Speaker 4: being a life coach on the show. So she hand
- 55:55Speaker 4: selected the therapist, the nutritionist, all those things. But then
- 55:59Speaker 4: she actually was inside the show and instead of doing
- 56:02Speaker 4: like coaching and I don't know what was going on,
- 56:04Speaker 4: the cameras weren't rolling, but it was like it was,
- 56:08Speaker 4: you know, fear mongering around food and what people were eating.
- 56:12Speaker 4: And so it was this very strange thing of like,
- 56:14Speaker 4: focus on yourself, but we're going to put you in
- 56:17Speaker 4: a pageant, the only the ones that we pick to
- 56:21Speaker 4: the pageant, and you're going to wear lingerie and you're
- 56:23Speaker 4: going to wear bathing suits. And then people are going
- 56:25Speaker 4: to judge you about who was the sort of the
- 56:28Speaker 4: biggest swan versus the ugly duckling. So living under that
- 56:31Speaker 4: sort of cognitive dissonance and the hypocrisy, I think, is
- 56:34Speaker 4: what was so challenging. And like, it's one thing to
- 56:37Speaker 4: be said, you know, you shouldn't look in the mirror
- 56:38Speaker 4: while you're recovering. It's another thing for people to remove
- 56:42Speaker 4: mirrors from any part of a surface and then for
- 56:45Speaker 4: you to get in trouble. If you try to look
- 56:48Speaker 4: in a mirror.
- 56:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I could see that. Christy, you mentioned that Terry
- 56:54Speaker 2: Dubrow was one of your doctors. Obviously, he's staying in
- 56:58Speaker 2: front of the camera with Real Housewives of OC and everything.
- 57:02Speaker 2: How was he as a doctor for you?
- 57:05Speaker 3: I love Dr. Dubrow. And, you know, I still love
- 57:09Speaker 3: him to this day. And obviously, you know, I brag
- 57:10Speaker 3: about the season one. So that's what I call the girls.
- 57:13Speaker 3: They're hanging in there, you know, and I've had two
- 57:15Speaker 3: open heart surgeries and they're still symmetrical looking. You know,
- 57:18Speaker 3: they look great.
- 57:19Speaker 2: I like the way they look.
- 57:21Speaker 5: But I know that that's not everyone's experience, but. To me,
- 57:28Speaker 5: I thought we really vibed and everything was great. Much
- 57:31Speaker 5: to my chagrin here just recently, I saw some kind
- 57:34Speaker 5: of ad hominem comments on social media, which really, you know, it.
- 57:42Speaker 3: Really upset me because I thought we had a thing.
- 57:44Speaker 3: I thought that, you know, we really had a cool relationship.
- 57:47Speaker 3: What do you mean that he said something negative on
- 57:50Speaker 3: social media? Yeah, I mean.
- 57:52Speaker 2: About the show or? It wasn't, it wasn't.
- 57:56Speaker 5: Positive not not to me the way i interpret it
- 57:59Speaker 5: it just was not positive and so.
- 58:01Speaker 4: The trailer came out and dr debrow said something about
- 58:05Speaker 4: the this being bs right and the trailer uh was
- 58:10Speaker 4: effectively the women's stories and saying what their experience was
- 58:13Speaker 4: so we all thought it was a very strange thing
- 58:17Speaker 4: for someone to do calling bullshit on a film that
- 58:21Speaker 4: he had not even seen.
- 58:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, that's the thing when, you know, when
- 58:26Speaker 2: people jump to conclusions or even when I do podcasts
- 58:30Speaker 2: and I have a small clip, which is essentially is
- 58:33Speaker 2: like a trailer. Hope you watch the whole episode. But
- 58:35Speaker 2: here's just a small clip of a conversation. And, you know,
- 58:39Speaker 2: that's all people then comment on. And you're like, well,
- 58:42Speaker 2: if you would have listened to the whole hour, then
- 58:44Speaker 2: you would have seen that it wasn't... you know, one
- 58:48Speaker 2: point of view all the way through or whatever. So, yeah,
- 58:51Speaker 2: I think, I think he probably knows that this was
- 58:55Speaker 2: a time of reality shows that would never fly today. And,
- 59:01Speaker 2: you know, he agreed to be a part of it.
- 59:03Speaker 2: And I mean, I think that's kind of the way,
- 59:05Speaker 2: the only way you can say things. As someone who's
- 59:07Speaker 2: been in the business for a long time, there's jokes
- 59:09Speaker 2: that I said 20 years ago that I would never
- 59:11Speaker 2: say today.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Yeah, you can't do better until you know better.
- 59:15Speaker 2: And that's okay. Like, you know, and things are subjective
- 59:20Speaker 2: and people change their minds. What was funny 20 years
- 59:24Speaker 2: ago is no longer funny. It's corny. It's inappropriate. It's cringey.
- 59:29Speaker 2: sometimes and you need to as the person whether you're
- 59:32Speaker 2: part of a show or in my case whatever said
- 59:35Speaker 2: a joke you're just like yeah I don't you know
- 59:38Speaker 2: I wouldn't do it again today but we we thought
- 59:40Speaker 2: we were doing a good thing and I was and
- 59:43Speaker 2: you know he could also say I was just one
- 59:45Speaker 2: part of it again he wasn't the producer he didn't
- 59:48Speaker 2: create the show um so and maybe he.
- 59:53Speaker 5: Was just sorry sorry Aaron I was just going to say,
- 59:56Speaker 5: he also has a very no holds barred type of personality,
- 59:59Speaker 5: which is, I think, why we vibe so well, you know.
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: And so maybe, you know, maybe I'm just overly sensitive myself.
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: You know, maybe I'm just in a weird place or whatever.
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: I could have interpreted it wrong. We'll find out eventually.
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: But I know I was just kind of taken aback, like, oh, damn,
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: you know, like I thought he was I thought we
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: were bros, but.
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: You know, we'll see.
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: I mean, maybe he's doing so solid and he's just
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: drumming up, you know, controversy for the doc because there
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: was a big reaction to the trailer and he wants
- 1:00:28Speaker 4: to be sure that his voice is involved in the frame.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: There was one story I remember that came out of
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: The Swan because they did some guys, too, where a
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: guy and a girl swan. They never did guys?
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: No, never.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: OK, maybe there was maybe that was a different show.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: Maybe I created this story in my head, but I
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: always remember there was some story about makeovers where a
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: guy and a girl both got severe plastic surgery and
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: then they got married or they had a baby together.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: And I was always just like, I really wonder what
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: happened with them. I thought it was from The Swan,
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: but I guess I was wrong.
- 1:01:09Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: They were not males on season one and to my knowledge,
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: not on season two. No.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: How many seasons were there?
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: Two.
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: Two.
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: God, it seemed like it went on longer than that.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: And why did the show end?
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: Do you know?
- 1:01:26Speaker 4: So the show ended, the season one got massive viewership.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: It was the most seen beauty pageant that exists in
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: the United States. It was critically received very poorly, right?
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: It was sort of that there was a big backlash.
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: And then with season two, and I think that's why
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: it's so amazing that we were able to talk to
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: Carrie and Gina. they really utilized the sisters and sort
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: of pitted people against each other. And when it went
- 1:01:53Speaker 4: from sort of like, OK, this is watchable to a
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: pretty inhumane place. And there was a woman on the
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: second season who had cancer. There was a woman who
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: survived a house fire, somebody who is deaf. And so ultimately,
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: in terms of audiences and critics, they felt like it
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: was too difficult to watch. And it was a very
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: expensive show because it's basically a social experiment where you
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: you know, send somebody away for three months and film
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: them the whole time that I Fox saw sort of,
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: you know, that it wasn't returning on the investment that
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: they thought it would. And so it was canceled, but
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: it lives in this weird place as one of the
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: most quote unquote sadistic reality shows of all time. And,
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: but as like all of us know on this chat,
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: like we, we're not that far away from what the
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: swan was, right? With Ozempic, with all of these different things,
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: the way we look, with all of us getting plastic surgery,
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: little tit, like little, some things little, some things big.
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: And so that's why they're the sort of the appetite
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: is so big right now because it's like, what the
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: heck happened back then? And why is it actually, what
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: sort of is happening right now? Yeah.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: And well, also what's interesting. So What was your relationship
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: then when you got back? So you and your sister
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: were okay. So you didn't know your sister was on
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: the show, Carrie, until the moment of the pageant?
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: No. So I was supposed to find out at my reveal.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: So right after I see myself for the first time,
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: I would turn around and they would say, meet your competition,
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: and she would walk out. Now, that is what happened.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: But I found out three days prior. They made a
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: mistake and had information on the wall at the dentist's office.
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: And so that's when I knew she was there. I
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: kind of suspected the whole time because of how they
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: treated her in the beginning. But that's when I found
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: out for sure. But when the curtains open and I
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: turn around and here comes Gina, that is genuine shock because,
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: you know, she didn't look like my sister anymore. Like
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: I heard her voice and I knew that was her,
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: but I think it was harder on her. She said
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: I looked even more different. And then once we spent
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: some time together, we were like, OK, good, it's still you.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: And afterwards, what has been your relationship with reality TV?
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: Do you like it? Do you watch it? Have you
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: ever has anyone ever approached you to be on anything
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: of any other reality show over time?
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: So we have not, no one's approached us. We haven't
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: been on any. I absolutely love reality television. We both
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: binge it all the time. I'm just going to shout
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: out Big Brother. I'm here. I got you. I'm in.
- 1:04:36Speaker 6: Good.
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: I've never been approached either, but I do. I love
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: reality TV, but also while I'm watching reality TV, I
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: can pick.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: Up now and I'm like, Yeah, that's not really what happened.
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: I know that there is some scripting to it. And,
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: you know, it's made to be salacious because it's for viewership.
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: You know, somebody's pockets are getting lined, just like with
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: beauty standards. And like Aaron said, you know, have we
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: come very far since 2004?
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: Probably not.
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: Because beauty standards don't exist. It's a Sisyphean task. But yeah,
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: I love reality TV. I'm a huge fan.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: But I also know that as.
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: Somebody who makes true crimes, I definitely sent a tape
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: in to be on the traitors, and they have not
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: responded to my agent.
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: Mm-hmm. They don't know what they're doing. I'm so in.
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: I would watch. Yes.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's two traitors this season, right? There's going
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: to be the celebrity one and then regular people again.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: So you applied for the regular people one or the
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: celebrity one?
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: The celebrity one. Oh, good.
- 1:05:45Speaker 6: Good.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Well, this has been so fun. I'm really excited to
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: watch the show. Tell us where we can watch it.
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: The show comes out September 29th on Hulu.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: Okay, great. And can you watch it all in one
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: week or we have to go back? It's every week
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: or how many episodes is it? It's a feature.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: So you can watch it in one fell swoop.
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: And, you know, we're really excited about it.
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: And it's through these women, grit and determination. And I
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: think that I think it will finally settle and understand like,
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: why do people, you know, why do people do shows
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: like this? Like anybody would have done that show because
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: it promised to fix all of your imperfections. And so
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: that's what we're really excited for there to be a
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: dialogue about.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: I'm very excited to see it. Well, you guys are
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: lovely and funny and so interesting. So I'm glad that
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: even though this seems like, you know, it wasn't the
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: experience you thought it was going to be, besides the teeth, issues.
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: It sounds like your life continued on and you enjoyed
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: your boobs and life was okay. Yes. Is that a
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: good interpretation or?
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: I always tell people sometimes, even when life gives you
- 1:06:59Speaker 5: a lemon, you can still make a margarita. So I
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: think that's what we all did with the experience, you know, like, oh, okay,
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: well that, that was a wild ride, but at least
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: we got pretty nice tits and some good teeth.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: And the best friendships like ever. Yeah. Also a little trauma.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: We had kept in touch with people and stuff. Yep,
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: for 20 years we have. I love that. Well, thanks
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: so much, girls. I really appreciate it.
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: Thank you so much, Heather.
