- 0:38Speaker 4: s at Rich Valdez on all of the social media.

- 0:44Speaker 4: bunch of things that are going on. Of course, if
- 0:46Speaker 4: you want to join us, you're always welcome to do
- 0:47Speaker 4: that on the phones. Eight seven seven Valdez one is
- 0:50Speaker 4: the phone number, eight seven seven Valdez one. As we
- 0:53Speaker 4: kick off our late night national Townhole Conversation, and I
- 0:57Speaker 4: wanted to let you know we've got Curtis Lee with
- 0:59Speaker 4: joining us in studio right here in Times Square. Don't
- 1:02Speaker 4: miss that. Plus we're going to talk about Bad Bunny,
- 1:05Speaker 4: the super Bowl, all of that and so much more.
- 1:07Speaker 4: But I want to start with heikodej model Bad Bunny. Right.
- 1:12Speaker 4: He seems to be the man of the hour. Everybody's
- 1:13Speaker 4: talking about Bad Bunny. They're talking about their either how
- 1:16Speaker 4: much Dave loved the halftime show or how much they
- 1:20Speaker 4: hated the halftime show. I want to get into all
- 1:22Speaker 4: of it because I've seen a lot of things. And
- 1:24Speaker 4: we'll put a couple of graphics up so you could
- 1:25Speaker 4: see these things. And I got to tell you, I
- 1:27Speaker 4: might be the only person in America who watched both
- 1:30Speaker 4: Kid Rock and Bad Bunny, right. I mean, I was
- 1:33Speaker 4: watching the game with my friends. We put on the
- 1:35Speaker 4: Bad Bunny. I was very pleasantly surprised. I know some
- 1:39Speaker 4: of you, to your sugarn, you're thinking, how could your
- 1:41Speaker 4: rich he's a what it was? And I'm hearing Jake
- 1:43Speaker 4: Paul says he is a fake American citizen. What's that
- 1:47Speaker 4: all about? Jake Paul lives in Puerto Rico with a
- 1:49Speaker 4: bunch of other fake American citizens. I don't know how
- 1:52Speaker 4: he gets to pull that off and the Puerto Ricans
- 1:54Speaker 4: don't flip out on him. I got to tell you,
- 1:56Speaker 4: as far as I know, Puerto Ricans are not fake
- 1:58Speaker 4: American citizens. And if you want to talk about it,
- 2:00Speaker 4: Jake Paul, come on the show. I'd love that, but
- 2:02Speaker 4: I want to get it. We'll get into that a
- 2:04Speaker 4: little bit. I really want to talk about the bad
- 2:05Speaker 4: money stuff, because why, for some reason, somehow, somewhere, people
- 2:09Speaker 4: have made it seem as if we go to the NFL,
- 2:14Speaker 4: we go to Hollywood, we go to a halftime show
- 2:18Speaker 4: for our portion right, for our source of all things
- 2:21Speaker 4: good and holy. That's not the case. That's never been
- 2:24Speaker 4: the case. So why why are we doing that? Listen?
- 2:27Speaker 4: I have no idea why, but I've never turned to
- 2:29Speaker 4: whether it was Lady Gaga, Madonna, Janet Jackson and the
- 2:33Speaker 4: Nip Slip and whatever. Listen. The NFL has always brought
- 2:37Speaker 4: on provocative halftime shows. This is what they do. This
- 2:40Speaker 4: is their playbook. So why is everybody freaking out about this?
- 2:43Speaker 4: I'll tell you why. Because it's in Spanish.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Now.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Years ago, Julio Iglesias used to sing in Spanish. All
- 2:49Speaker 4: sorts of people sing in Spanish. Ricky Martin, right, Vin Levello. God, Now,
- 2:53Speaker 4: there was an English version of that song too. But
- 2:56Speaker 4: everybody loved Ricky Martin, everybody, But for some reason, we
- 2:59Speaker 4: don't want to like Bunny.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Now.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Listen, Ricky Martin's as gay as all get out. Yet
- 3:04Speaker 4: he's beloved by so many. Right, there's so many people
- 3:07Speaker 4: that are And this is not an infomercial. Right, I'm
- 3:10Speaker 4: not promoting the LGBTQ community. It's personally as a matter
- 3:15Speaker 4: of faith. For me, it's not something I subscribe to.
- 3:18Speaker 4: But I have to say to each his own right,
- 3:21Speaker 4: this is what people do. I'm not going to hate
- 3:23Speaker 4: somebody because they sin differently than me. That's not the
- 3:26Speaker 4: business that I'm in, and it's not, as far as
- 3:28Speaker 4: I know, it's not the business of conservatism to sit
- 3:31Speaker 4: here and we can try to hold on to tradition,
- 3:35Speaker 4: to tradition, excuse me. We want to do the right
- 3:38Speaker 4: thing at the end of the day. The last thing
- 3:40Speaker 4: I think we need to be doing is hating on people.
- 3:43Speaker 4: What's the harm in saying I don't know bad Bunny,
- 3:45Speaker 4: I don't like him. I mean, I don't know him.
- 3:48Speaker 4: I've never heard of him, or I'm not sure I'm
- 3:50Speaker 4: not familiar with the music to this is an affront
- 3:53Speaker 4: on America? How did we get there? How did we
- 3:56Speaker 4: get to this as an affront on America? I don't
- 3:58Speaker 4: see it happening to me. It seems like we're demonizing
- 4:01Speaker 4: that which we do not know, and we in the
- 4:04Speaker 4: past we haven't done that. Right. How many people do
- 4:06Speaker 4: you know that aren't Mexican and love some Taco Tuesday? Right?
- 4:10Speaker 4: They love it, they love carnitas. Right, come on, I've
- 4:14Speaker 4: been to La I know how this goes, and so
- 4:16Speaker 4: do you. This to me is beyond the pale people
- 4:20Speaker 4: talking about. But he sings about what. Listen every time
- 4:23Speaker 4: I turn on some of my favorite movies, Scarface, The Godfather, Casino, Goodfellas. Right,
- 4:31Speaker 4: are we supposed to say that Joe Peshi was promoting
- 4:34Speaker 4: womanizing because he was fooling around with de Niro's isn't
- 4:38Speaker 4: that film? Or Or that they're condoning or promoting murder
- 4:43Speaker 4: because they kill people left and right in these films,
- 4:45Speaker 4: or that they're condoning or promoting organized crime. No, nobody
- 4:50Speaker 4: was complaining when Good Fellas came around. But yet when
- 4:52Speaker 4: it comes to music, all of a sudden, we've got
- 4:54Speaker 4: a double standard. So I just want to call it
- 4:57Speaker 4: out for what it is. Bad. Bunny is an artist.
- 5:00Speaker 4: He does what he does, whether he likes men, doesn't
- 5:03Speaker 4: like men. Honestly, I pray that he likes women. I
- 5:06Speaker 4: pray that he marries a woman, and I pray that
- 5:08Speaker 4: all goes well for him. But at the end of
- 5:10Speaker 4: the day, that's not my issue. And my issue is
- 5:13Speaker 4: do I want to listen to the song or not
- 5:14Speaker 4: listen to the song. I don't go to the movies
- 5:16Speaker 4: and say, oh, I don't watch horror films, or I
- 5:18Speaker 4: don't watch action films, or I don't know, because I
- 5:20Speaker 4: don't want to promote violence. Nobody does that why we
- 5:23Speaker 4: choose to do it in particular with hispanics and blackses.
- 5:27Speaker 4: And I'm not pulling the race card. I'm just saying
- 5:29Speaker 4: it just happens to be. I've never seen anybody call
- 5:32Speaker 4: out anybody else, and I think that there might be
- 5:36Speaker 4: elements of that involved in that. I don't know, but
- 5:39Speaker 4: it's fascinating to me how there's so many people jumping
- 5:43Speaker 4: on this vandwagon saying that this is that, and how
- 5:45Speaker 4: could they when it's the NFL. I thought we were
- 5:49Speaker 4: done with the NFL in twenty thirteen. I didn't know
- 5:52Speaker 4: that we were still doing NFL, and it's news to me.
- 5:55Speaker 4: So I think we really got to check ourselves and
- 5:57Speaker 4: really say, hold on a second, what is it that
- 5:59Speaker 4: we actually believe? What do we really stand for as conservatives.
- 6:03Speaker 4: Are we trying to hold on to tradition. Great, let's
- 6:06Speaker 4: hold on to all the tradition we can. But if
- 6:09Speaker 4: the tradition goes back to the last seven years with
- 6:12Speaker 4: jay Z and years prior, right, we go back to
- 6:14Speaker 4: early two thousands. If you're in your fifties and maybe
- 6:17Speaker 4: in your sixties, then you might be able to say,
- 6:19Speaker 4: I remember back in seventy nine. But every halftime show
- 6:23Speaker 4: I can think of was either very boring or it
- 6:27Speaker 4: was edgy. Right. Last year it was Kendrick Lamar with
- 6:31Speaker 4: his He had a very political message in there. Right.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Beyonce when she did her thing where they were doing
- 6:36Speaker 4: the whole Black Lives Matter, it was almost like a
- 6:38Speaker 4: Black Panther type of tribute because of what she called
- 6:43Speaker 4: police brutality. Right. There was a little bit of pushback
- 6:46Speaker 4: on that, but for the most part, everybody ate it up.
- 6:49Speaker 4: So my point is bad Bunny, who's performed back in
- 6:52Speaker 4: twenty twenty. He was off stage with Jalo and Shakira,
- 6:55Speaker 4: who also I think had a couple of songs in Spanish,
- 6:58Speaker 4: or at least a couple of verses in Spanish. Lauria
- 7:00Speaker 4: as Stefan the Miami Sound Machine. She almost exclusively sang
- 7:04Speaker 4: in Spanish for most of her career, but had a
- 7:07Speaker 4: big hit that was in English. Got it all good.
- 7:11Speaker 4: I'm with all of it. I'm not here to begrudge
- 7:14Speaker 4: anybody for the language that they speak. Come on, for years,
- 7:17Speaker 4: I've been on the radio saying to all my friends
- 7:20Speaker 4: in the what I call the it's America speak English crowd.
- 7:23Speaker 4: I say, it's America, speak whatever language you want. The
- 7:26Speaker 4: reason I say that is why could I speak a
- 7:28Speaker 4: couple of languages? And I think, if you want to survive, right,
- 7:31Speaker 4: if I want to get into broadcasting, I want to
- 7:33Speaker 4: be in talk radio. Guess what language talk radio dominates
- 7:37Speaker 4: in English? So I need to learn how to speak English,
- 7:40Speaker 4: and I need to learn how to do it pretty
- 7:41Speaker 4: well in order to get a broadcasting job. That's how
- 7:44Speaker 4: that works. You can't really be involved in commerce if
- 7:48Speaker 4: you don't speak the language. So it's kind of like
- 7:52Speaker 4: a given it. It's a requirement, not something I need
- 7:54Speaker 4: to sit here and tell you about. Now, listen, I
- 7:58Speaker 4: don't have my head in the sand. We've had a
- 8:00Speaker 4: problem with truckers who were in the country illegally. Don't
- 8:04Speaker 4: learn the language by themselves the CDL license, and they're
- 8:07Speaker 4: getting into accidents. That's a far cry from hiring or
- 8:12Speaker 4: bringing on board a Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny to
- 8:17Speaker 4: do the halftime show. Two totally different things. I didn't
- 8:21Speaker 4: see Bad Bunny promoting any of the things that people
- 8:24Speaker 4: are saying that he promotes. I honestly didn't see it.
- 8:26Speaker 4: One thing I know I missed. I saw the video
- 8:29Speaker 4: afterwards was to these two guys dancing, And I'm not
- 8:32Speaker 4: trying to minimize that, but I'm just saying, have you
- 8:34Speaker 4: ever turned on Glee? Right? I know I have kids
- 8:38Speaker 4: that are in their twenties. I've seen them watch Glee.
- 8:40Speaker 4: I've turned on the seat passed by the TV and
- 8:43Speaker 4: I said, oh my gosh, what is this? What's going on?
- 8:45Speaker 4: What you would see in Glee and the stuff they
- 8:48Speaker 4: talk about in Glee far outweighs anything that I saw
- 8:53Speaker 4: in the Bad Money concert, including the two guys for
- 8:55Speaker 4: the zero point five milliseconds that was there. I'm not
- 8:59Speaker 4: saying it's good. I'm just look, there's a populist movement
- 9:03Speaker 4: in this country, which I don't necessarily count myself a
- 9:06Speaker 4: part of, but the leader of that movement is President Trump.
- 9:09Speaker 4: President Trump is extremely gay friendly, he's extremely pro gay.
- 9:14Speaker 4: He's always been that guy. That is truly a big
- 9:18Speaker 4: part of I think the gravitas for him and a
- 9:22Speaker 4: lot of the populists. So how is it that Ed
- 9:26Speaker 4: Trompito don all this magnus to forty fifth and forty
- 9:28Speaker 4: seventh president of these United States? He gets to tout
- 9:32Speaker 4: Rick Grennell and always talk about how he's supportive of
- 9:37Speaker 4: this inclusive stuff. But if somehow the Puerto Rican rapper
- 9:40Speaker 4: does it, it's a big deal. Now, I keep saying
- 9:42Speaker 4: that because I don't see the difference in bad money
- 9:45Speaker 4: being an ally of the LGBT community. That's what he
- 9:48Speaker 4: wants to do. That's what he wants to do. I
- 9:50Speaker 4: could sit here and say I don't like the guy,
- 9:52Speaker 4: or I don't like his position, But wouldn't it be
- 9:54Speaker 4: weird if I said I don't like his position, but
- 9:56Speaker 4: I love Trump's. I'm doing what the great one Mark
- 9:59Speaker 4: Levin taught me to do, to take an argument, to
- 10:01Speaker 4: argue it to its most logical extreme. And that's where
- 10:03Speaker 4: I end up with this. I think you let bad
- 10:06Speaker 4: Bunny do whatever he wants to do. The guy is
- 10:08Speaker 4: selling records left and right. He's streaming more than anybody.
- 10:11Speaker 4: He beats Taylor Swift. He's the most streamed artist on
- 10:13Speaker 4: the planet. Why people like what he has Listen? I pray,
- 10:18Speaker 4: I read my Bible. I realize that the things that
- 10:20Speaker 4: he's talking about are not congruent with my faith all
- 10:24Speaker 4: the time. They're not congruent with the way I live
- 10:27Speaker 4: my life. But I also realize I have a past
- 10:29Speaker 4: life and I enjoy the entertainment. It's funny, right, Maybe
- 10:32Speaker 4: you should come with a warning label on it, explicit
- 10:35Speaker 4: lyrics eighteen and over whatever. I also like The Jersey Shore,
- 10:39Speaker 4: both the place and the TV show right again, raunchy show,
- 10:43Speaker 4: Call me crazy, forgive me Father, for I have sinned.
- 10:46Speaker 4: People like all sorts of different things. I don't think
- 10:48Speaker 4: you're necessarily a bad person or a bad Christian, even
- 10:52Speaker 4: because you want to watch or binge watch The Jersey Shore,
- 10:56Speaker 4: or if you want to listen to a couple of
- 10:57Speaker 4: bad bunny songs. Now, if you notice the Rabbit Man
- 11:00Speaker 4: did not come with address on, if you notice he
- 11:04Speaker 4: was in dressed as a transvestite, If you notice it
- 11:08Speaker 4: was a relatively toned down version of who you thought
- 11:11Speaker 4: he was because as an artist, the guy was in
- 11:14Speaker 4: his twenties and he was being provocative when he came out.
- 11:16Speaker 4: He's been at this for nine years or so, and
- 11:19Speaker 4: I think he's had a remarkable trajectory. I'm not mad
- 11:23Speaker 4: at the guy. I understand about the Venezuelan connection. But this,
- 11:27Speaker 4: here's another thing, jay Z. Why are we not begrudging
- 11:32Speaker 4: jay Z? Jay Z raps about how he sold drugs
- 11:35Speaker 4: to start his record company. Now nobody's beating him up
- 11:39Speaker 4: about that, But because Bad Bunny signed a contract with
- 11:43Speaker 4: a company that was started by some communists, crazy people
- 11:46Speaker 4: from Venezuela, all of a sudden, he's Satan incarnate. I'm
- 11:50Speaker 4: not here to defend Bad Bunny. I'm here to just say,
- 11:52Speaker 4: let's be fair about things, right, Let's call a spade
- 11:55Speaker 4: a spade, not when we feel like it, but all
- 11:58Speaker 4: the time. Anyway, more on that straight ahead. Plus, I
- 12:02Speaker 4: want to get into a little bit on my buddy
- 12:04Speaker 4: Sean Farish. He's a great trumpetpersonator. He does a better
- 12:08Speaker 4: trump than me by a mile, believe me and believe me.
- 12:13Speaker 4: And Sean Farish has an amazing video that I saw
- 12:16Speaker 4: where he's calling out Bad Bunny. I think you're gonna
- 12:19Speaker 4: love it, don't go anywhere. I'm Rich Faldaz.
- 12:21Speaker 1: This is America. This is America, all right.
- 13:01Speaker 4: This one is terrific. This is my buddy Sean Farrish.
- 13:05Speaker 4: He's a New Yorker, but he's out in Tennessee right now.
- 13:08Speaker 4: He does an amazing job. You've seen this video, but
- 13:12Speaker 4: check this out.
- 13:12Speaker 5: This is your favorite president. And this message is for
- 13:15Speaker 5: Bad Bunny, or as I call him, the nasty Rabbit,
- 13:19Speaker 5: El Conejo Desagra Dable. He's a nasty rabbit and a
- 13:22Speaker 5: stupid rabbit. Anytime you see a guy in a dress,
- 13:26Speaker 5: that's a very stupid person. So he's a nasty guy,
- 13:30Speaker 5: a horrible guy. They call him bad Bunny. I call
- 13:33Speaker 5: him the worst bunny. Think about it, and nobody knows
- 13:36Speaker 5: Bunny's quite like I do. I get along very well
- 13:39Speaker 5: with many of the highly respected bunnies all around the world.
- 13:43Speaker 5: I have a tremendous relationship with Bugs Bunny. He said
- 13:47Speaker 5: to me, what's up, duc? He said, Sarah, what's.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Up, Duck?
- 13:50Speaker 5: Sir? I said, you don't have to call me duck.
- 13:52Speaker 5: You could call me Donald. But Bugs Bunny is a
- 13:56Speaker 5: tremendous bunny. He does a fantastic job on the baseball field.
- 14:00Speaker 5: He plays every position you look at him, but he
- 14:03Speaker 5: does a fantastic job. I get along very well with
- 14:07Speaker 5: Roger Rabbit, and what happened to him was horrible. You know,
- 14:10Speaker 5: they say, sir, who framed Roger Rabbit? Sir, I said,
- 14:14Speaker 5: it was probably the fake news of the Democrats. They
- 14:17Speaker 5: frame everybody. But he got a row deal, and so
- 14:21Speaker 5: we gave him a parton because what happened to Roger
- 14:24Speaker 5: Rabbit was horrible. It was a complete and total witch hut,
- 14:27Speaker 5: so we gave him a parton. I got along very
- 14:30Speaker 5: well with the Easter Bunny, who used to lead Crooked
- 14:34Speaker 5: Joe biting around like he lost puppy. But the Easter
- 14:37Speaker 5: Bunny said to me, sir, you have the biggest Easter
- 14:40Speaker 5: eggs the world has ever seen. They're much bigger than
- 14:44Speaker 5: cried Chuck Schumer or Pesosto Obama. You look at Hakim Jefferies,
- 14:47Speaker 5: they have very small Easter eggs. But I have the
- 14:49Speaker 5: biggest eggs the world has ever seen. Nobody's ever seen
- 14:52Speaker 5: anything like it. I also got along well with little
- 14:55Speaker 5: Bunny fou Fu, and I ended the war between Little
- 14:58Speaker 5: Bunny fool fou and the field. He was bopping him
- 15:01Speaker 5: on the head. I said, you can't do that. You
- 15:04Speaker 5: have to stop doing that. Well, we're going to hit
- 15:06Speaker 5: you with tariff. So we ended that war. You know,
- 15:08Speaker 5: you look at it the peace president. So we get
- 15:11Speaker 5: along will with a lot of bunnies, but not the
- 15:13Speaker 5: nasty rabbit known as bad Bunny. He's a horrible person
- 15:17Speaker 5: and a stupid person. El Canejo desa gradable bad bunny,
- 15:22Speaker 5: nasty rabbit the hr country, and he has no talent.
- 15:26Speaker 5: Thank you for your attention to.
- 15:27Speaker 4: This matter, all right, So I think he does an
- 15:31Speaker 4: amazing job, right, It's very funny, it's hysterical. I play
- 15:34Speaker 4: it for comedic value. Listen. I think it's great that
- 15:37Speaker 4: he knows how to make light of these things, and
- 15:39Speaker 4: he's so good at making light of these things. That's
- 15:41Speaker 4: what we need to do, everybody, just make light of stuff. Now,
- 15:45Speaker 4: where I think things get out of control is when
- 15:47Speaker 4: people are starting to beat up kid Rock. Now why
- 15:50Speaker 4: beat up kid Rock? This is the part I really
- 15:52Speaker 4: don't get, and I really don't I really don't get.
- 15:54Speaker 4: It gets me a little hot under the collar, honestly,
- 15:56Speaker 4: But why why are we beating up Kid Rock because
- 16:01Speaker 4: he decided to do a halftime show for Turning Point.
- 16:04Speaker 4: Listen Kid Rock and do whatever he wants. And I
- 16:06Speaker 4: thought he did an amazing job. Right he shouted out
- 16:08Speaker 4: the Lord the Savior, my man, j C. Does it
- 16:11Speaker 4: get any better than that? If that's what you're looking
- 16:13Speaker 4: for during a halftime show, you got it with Kid Rock.
- 16:16Speaker 4: People want to beat him up and say about some
- 16:18Speaker 4: lyrics he had again, same thing goes for him. Talked
- 16:20Speaker 4: about art imitates life. That's how art works. Imagine if
- 16:25Speaker 4: every movie were about what you think it should be about.
- 16:29Speaker 4: I mean, come on, are we going to live our
- 16:31Speaker 4: lives in a Hallmark movie? I don't think so, right?
- 16:35Speaker 4: I mean, who would have made Jaws? Right? Jaws is
- 16:38Speaker 4: such a great movie. And I just bring that up
- 16:40Speaker 4: as an example there that way people dying getting eaten
- 16:42Speaker 4: by a shark? Is people going to say? Is this
- 16:45Speaker 4: what you stand for? Getting eaten by sharks? I think
- 16:48Speaker 4: the whole thing is ridiculous. I think people want to
- 16:52Speaker 4: make fun of people for the way they dance, for
- 16:54Speaker 4: the way that Listen. I don't want my kid doing it,
- 16:57Speaker 4: and that's what I do. I'm a parent. I say, hey,
- 16:59Speaker 4: don't I don't want you out there to working on
- 17:01Speaker 4: top of police cars. I don't watch you out there
- 17:03Speaker 4: doing whatever whatever whatever. Right, Really, you have the conversation
- 17:08Speaker 4: with your children the way you want to have that conversation.
- 17:11Speaker 4: But by no means are we here to impose anything
- 17:15Speaker 4: on anybody we can request, right, And I think this
- 17:19Speaker 4: is important for us to understand because I think there's
- 17:22Speaker 4: a thin line between being an autocrat and being someone
- 17:26Speaker 4: that is a traditionalist. It's not that thin of a line,
- 17:29Speaker 4: but lately it seems like there is, all of a sudden,
- 17:32Speaker 4: we're telling everybody what they can sing about, what they
- 17:33Speaker 4: should sing about, why they should sing Listen, I got
- 17:37Speaker 4: whiplash over here from We Love the NFL, We Hate
- 17:41Speaker 4: the NFL. NFL is the slice of Americana. Since when
- 17:45Speaker 4: the NFL themselves are going after South America or Latin America.
- 17:49Speaker 4: They've hired Daddy Yankee, another big reggaetong superstar who's recently
- 17:54Speaker 4: had a conversion to Christianity. And shout out to Daddy Yankee.
- 17:58Speaker 4: But guess what he's doing half time shows in Brazil
- 18:01Speaker 4: in Spain as part of their expansion into Latin America. Right,
- 18:05Speaker 4: even this show has expanded into Latin America. Why because
- 18:08Speaker 4: there is a big market in Latin America for lots
- 18:11Speaker 4: of things. American sports like the NFL basketball baseball's been
- 18:16Speaker 4: huge all over the Caribbean. Forever. Think about Robert de
- 18:19Speaker 4: Clemente right twenty one, Pittsburgh Pirates, one of the most
- 18:22Speaker 4: famous Puerto Ricans on the planet. Twenty one. Listen. I'm
- 18:26Speaker 4: trying to make sense of these things because I start
- 18:28Speaker 4: reading the comments and I just get so disheartened. I
- 18:31Speaker 4: saw one comment. I don't know if we're able to
- 18:33Speaker 4: bring it on screen or not here, but this woman
- 18:35Speaker 4: is arguing with this guy who made a statement he said, oh,
- 18:38Speaker 4: you people are just hating because he's Puerto Rican. And
- 18:41Speaker 4: I think there are a number of people, and I
- 18:42Speaker 4: know this from my own experience in life, there are
- 18:46Speaker 4: people who don't like you just because you are able
- 18:49Speaker 4: to speak another language that's likely not you. But there
- 18:53Speaker 4: are people like that that they feel like there is
- 18:56Speaker 4: a superiority in being unilingual as opposed to multi lingual.
- 19:00Speaker 4: There's people that have a horrible feeling that they think
- 19:04Speaker 4: multiculturalism is a bad thing. I don't think it's a
- 19:07Speaker 4: bad thing. I think you hold on to your culture.
- 19:09Speaker 4: You don't want to water down any culture. You also
- 19:13Speaker 4: don't want to ignore other cultures, right. You don't want
- 19:16Speaker 4: to end up like they have in a little Mogadishu
- 19:19Speaker 4: right where we've lost Minnesota, right, Minnesota down, right, black
- 19:24Speaker 4: Hawk down. But at the same time, you also don't
- 19:28Speaker 4: want to say I don't want to understand the culture.
- 19:30Speaker 4: I don't want to know. I don't want to be
- 19:32Speaker 4: ignorant to the fact, right, And why The last time
- 19:34Speaker 4: when I was in DC for what was that called
- 19:38Speaker 4: the inauguration, I went with a state assemblymen friend of mine.
- 19:42Speaker 4: We went out to a Somali restaurant right there, not
- 19:46Speaker 4: too far from Capitol Hill. Interesting, right, I had never
- 19:49Speaker 4: done that before. It's a very interesting experience that they
- 19:53Speaker 4: bring in this big platter you eat with your hands.
- 19:55Speaker 4: I had the beef platter because they had all different
- 19:58Speaker 4: types of things and I wasn't familiar with a lot
- 19:59Speaker 4: of it. I had the meat. The meat was really good,
- 20:02Speaker 4: no complaints for me. It was a different way of
- 20:04Speaker 4: doing things. Everything was different, the way they serve it,
- 20:07Speaker 4: the way it's made, the condiments, all of it. I
- 20:10Speaker 4: did it. It's not at the top of my bucket list. Right.
- 20:14Speaker 4: I'm not saying, oh my gosh, I can't wait to
- 20:16Speaker 4: go back to the Somali restaurant. No, that's not the
- 20:18Speaker 4: case at all. But I did it, and I don't
- 20:22Speaker 4: hate it, right. I also don't think that we need
- 20:24Speaker 4: to replace Minneapolis with any particular race, right, or any
- 20:30Speaker 4: particular culture. But it's important that we know it now.
- 20:33Speaker 4: That being said, when I was a little kid, Sunset
- 20:36Speaker 4: Park was almost exclusively Puerto Rican, Canal Street in Manhattan
- 20:39Speaker 4: almost exclusively Chinese, Mulberry Street in downtown right off of
- 20:45Speaker 4: Canal Street exclusively Italian. Nobody had an issue with those things, right.
- 20:50Speaker 4: Everybody had their little place, their area there, Chinatown, whatever
- 20:54Speaker 4: it was. So again, I have a problem with fraud.
- 20:58Speaker 4: I have a problem with leerings. I have a problem
- 21:01Speaker 4: with people that hate America. But when you say that
- 21:04Speaker 4: a conej model right bad Bunny, that somehow bad Bunny
- 21:09Speaker 4: is hating America, I don't think he hates America. I think,
- 21:12Speaker 4: like most communists, they have disdain for what they see. Now,
- 21:18Speaker 4: I don't even think I can say with certitude that
- 21:21Speaker 4: bad Bunnies are full on comedy. I think that I
- 21:25Speaker 4: listened to his rhetoric, and he sounds a lot like
- 21:29Speaker 4: cayetrese Rene, right he is if you know who I'm
- 21:32Speaker 4: talking about. He's another Puerto Rican rapper. I'm pretty sure
- 21:35Speaker 4: he calls his friend's comrade. I don't think Bad Bunny's
- 21:38Speaker 4: that deep into this. And again, not a defense of him,
- 21:40Speaker 4: just my observation, giving you my two cents my opinion.
- 21:44Speaker 4: I think he's very pro Puerto Rico. He loves the
- 21:48Speaker 4: island he was born on. He's a patriot. And you
- 21:51Speaker 4: know his speech at the Grammys. I played it for
- 21:53Speaker 4: you on the podcast.
- 21:58Speaker 6: Before I say thanks to God, I'm gonna say ice out.
- 22:22Speaker 4: I was personally offended and he said before I thank God,
- 22:26Speaker 4: I want to say ice out. I think that was
- 22:29Speaker 4: uncalled for. It was dumb. It wasn't the right way
- 22:31Speaker 4: to do things. That's what he chose to do. I'm
- 22:34Speaker 4: a free speech guy. You do you, I still think
- 22:37Speaker 4: you're wrong. I'm not gonna leave God for the end.
- 22:41Speaker 4: I'm gonna, you know, thank God up front. But this
- 22:44Speaker 4: was an interesting speech.
- 22:45Speaker 6: We're not savage, we're not animals, we're not aliens. We
- 22:50Speaker 6: are humans, and we are Americans. Also, I want to
- 23:00Speaker 6: say to the people. I know it's tough to know
- 23:05Speaker 6: not to hate on these days, and I was thinking,
- 23:11Speaker 6: sometimes we get contaminaos. I don't have to say that
- 23:17Speaker 6: in English. The hate get more powerful with more hate.
- 23:28Speaker 6: The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love.
- 23:36Speaker 6: So please, we need to be different. If we fight,
- 23:44Speaker 6: we have to do it we love if Yeah, we
- 23:51Speaker 6: don't hate them. We love our people, we love our family,
- 23:57Speaker 6: and that's the way to do it with love, and
- 24:00Speaker 6: forget that. Please, thank you, thank you God.
- 24:03Speaker 4: That doesn't mean now that I hate the guy and
- 24:05Speaker 4: I wish him harm. I don't doesn't mean I'm gonna
- 24:08Speaker 4: say I don't want to go to your concert either.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Still like the music. I know who this guy is.
- 24:13Speaker 4: It's not like I didn't know who he was. He
- 24:15Speaker 4: didn't fool me or dupe me. I know exactly who
- 24:17Speaker 4: he is. I don't need to have a personal relationship
- 24:20Speaker 4: with Robert de Niro to enjoy his films. I don't
- 24:25Speaker 4: need to have a personal like for al Pacino to
- 24:29Speaker 4: like him in a movie. Right, And this is the
- 24:31Speaker 4: point I'm making that this selective I don't like what
- 24:34Speaker 4: they stand for. Who says they stand for it? These
- 24:37Speaker 4: people are entertainers. Now, like I said back to bad Buddy,
- 24:40Speaker 4: I don't necessarily believe that he's a comedy. I'm not
- 24:44Speaker 4: saying I don't think he is one. I'm just saying
- 24:46Speaker 4: I don't believe that he can't be one, is what
- 24:49Speaker 4: I'm saying. Right, he can be one. He might be one.
- 24:52Speaker 4: I don't know. He's not an overtly political person, but
- 24:56Speaker 4: when he does get involved. And they led this a
- 24:59Speaker 4: big march, biggest march in Puerto Rico history, to oust
- 25:03Speaker 4: the previous governor, Ricardo Ro said, yo him, and we
- 25:08Speaker 4: sing and a few others Cayarese that these guys got
- 25:11Speaker 4: together and they did their thing. They showed up, they represented.
- 25:14Speaker 4: I was not on their side, but I see the impact.
- 25:21Speaker 4: So I realized, Okay, these guys know how to organize, right.
- 25:25Speaker 4: They're not sloppy, they're not haphazard, they're not emotional. They
- 25:28Speaker 4: probably are emotional, but they had a plan and they
- 25:31Speaker 4: executed the plan like most good Marxists do. So again
- 25:35Speaker 4: my point, I just want to call a spade a spade,
- 25:40Speaker 4: and I feel like pet Bunny honestly, as much as
- 25:42Speaker 4: we may not like his politics, and you may not
- 25:44Speaker 4: even like his music. Somehow the guys become like public
- 25:48Speaker 4: Enemy number one, when what he said was, we're not animals,
- 25:51Speaker 4: we're not savages. We are Americans. Let's do what we do.
- 25:56Speaker 4: We can disagree, but let's not do it in hate.
- 26:00Speaker 4: Let's do it in love. That's a message I can
- 26:03Speaker 4: get behind. I think that's a message you can get
- 26:05Speaker 4: behind too. Straight Ahead, Curtis Leewa wighs in on the
- 26:09Speaker 4: importance of reaching out to different communities. He's been out
- 26:12Speaker 4: in the streets in New York City for years, right
- 26:14Speaker 4: decades with the Guardian Angels Safety Patrol Group, and he's
- 26:19Speaker 4: going to weigh in on the importance of this program
- 26:21Speaker 4: reaching more people in the world in Latin America, as
- 26:24Speaker 4: well as his work in reaching people in different places.
- 26:28Speaker 4: Don't go anywhere.
- 26:30Speaker 3: This is America. This is America.
- 26:43Speaker 7: The forty fifth President Donald Trump thinks it's an honor
- 26:46Speaker 7: to speak with Rich Valdez.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Oh, very good.
- 26:53Speaker 3: The honor is all yours.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Conservative talk with a dash of sofrito.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Wow, here's Rich Valdez.
- 27:03Speaker 4: All right, and he gooes, welcome back. Now, we just
- 27:06Speaker 4: made this announcement and about syndicating my show ag Espanol.
- 27:11Speaker 4: And I got to say, there's very few people that
- 27:14Speaker 4: have seen my journey in radio like my mentors. And
- 27:17Speaker 4: I've had some great mentors, the great one Mark Levin,
- 27:21Speaker 4: Curtis Sliwa. You might have known him as the who
- 27:25Speaker 4: ran from mayor in New York City, right, the guardian
- 27:27Speaker 4: angel of New York himself, And he's here with me. Now,
- 27:30Speaker 4: he's here with me on my special day. Curtis Lee, Well,
- 27:32Speaker 4: thank you a for being here. You've always been a
- 27:34Speaker 4: mentor to me. You're you're a lifelong hero and a
- 27:38Speaker 4: friend and not fishing for compliments. But your reaction to
- 27:43Speaker 4: seeing one of your mentees get into streaming talk media
- 27:49Speaker 4: on the video side of things, streaming video and doing
- 27:52Speaker 4: it in Spanol.
- 27:53Speaker 7: Of course, Well, look, you know what a tough journey
- 27:56Speaker 7: you had because I was out there from voting you
- 28:00Speaker 7: with so many others in a a what we'll call
- 28:05Speaker 7: a white out at a blackout, a whiteout where the
- 28:09Speaker 7: fact that you are a Latino, proud, liberty loving Latino
- 28:15Speaker 7: obviously has strong patriotic roots, Republican roots, conservative roots. And
- 28:21Speaker 7: now you've come into your own and by the way,
- 28:23Speaker 7: on a global level, so from a very local level.
- 28:27Speaker 7: Now I got to tell you a little story about Rich.
- 28:29Speaker 7: When I wasted four years in my life that I'll
- 28:31Speaker 7: never get back. At AM ninety seventy, the an Rich
- 28:35Speaker 7: was living in Jersey and he was right near the tower,
- 28:37Speaker 7: the only person ever to say that he had ever
- 28:39Speaker 7: heard me in four years on the radio. I was
- 28:41Speaker 7: doing morning Drive and afternoon Drive, and it said, how's
- 28:44Speaker 7: that Rich? I live right next to the tower. So
- 28:48Speaker 7: he started from the bottom, had a number of setbacks
- 28:52Speaker 7: like we've all had, and has always persevered. And that's
- 28:56Speaker 7: why I'm proud to say I'm your friend than your
- 29:00Speaker 7: radio colleague, and more importantly, a person who has seen
- 29:04Speaker 7: your trajectory now take you on a global level. I
- 29:07Speaker 7: only wish I knew a few words in Spanish other
- 29:10Speaker 7: than the bad words that people sometimes scream at me
- 29:14Speaker 7: when I'm in the subways of the streets.
- 29:17Speaker 4: You know, Curtis Sliva, most people think that you're like
- 29:20Speaker 4: part Puerto Rican. Yes, they think you're Curtis Silva instead
- 29:23Speaker 4: of Curtis Sliwa. And I always tell people your story.
- 29:26Speaker 4: It's a funny story that in the Bronx they made
- 29:29Speaker 4: him the Grand Marshal of the Puerto Rican Festival because
- 29:32Speaker 4: they thought he was Puerto Rican.
- 29:33Speaker 7: Yeah, I had to disappoint him. Was at that time
- 29:36Speaker 7: Al Ramon Valles, who ran the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade.
- 29:41Speaker 7: We as the Guardian Angels were ostracized by everybody back then,
- 29:45Speaker 7: and he was the only one to embrace us. He
- 29:47Speaker 7: invited us into his Board of director's meeting. Even to
- 29:51Speaker 7: this day, most people think of Puerto Rican because they
- 29:53Speaker 7: think the name is Silva, and I don't change their
- 29:56Speaker 7: minds by yo Silva. Yes, yeah, yes see see. And
- 30:02Speaker 7: so he said, you know, we'd like to have you
- 30:05Speaker 7: as our Grand Marshal of the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade.
- 30:07Speaker 7: This is the early eighties, and I'm looking at all
- 30:10Speaker 7: the board members. I said, I hate to disappoint you,
- 30:13Speaker 7: but my father was Polish, my mother was Italian, and
- 30:16Speaker 7: so they're shaking you.
- 30:17Speaker 4: Are you sure?
- 30:19Speaker 7: Can you find somebody in your bloodline who may have
- 30:23Speaker 7: some Puerto Rican blood? I said, now, I really can't
- 30:26Speaker 7: do that. You've got a lot of really well renowned
- 30:30Speaker 7: Puerto Ricans who deserve this honor. But I want to
- 30:32Speaker 7: thank you. And he always had us in the parade
- 30:35Speaker 7: when nobody else would have us in parades. That's why
- 30:37Speaker 7: in the debate against Roan Mondommi Andrew Como, remember after
- 30:41Speaker 7: that first the bear said all parades matter, Yes, absolutely,
- 30:45Speaker 7: because that's really what put us on the map. The
- 30:47Speaker 7: fact that the annual Puerto Rican Date Parade would recognize us,
- 30:51Speaker 7: allow us to march really forced open the doors to
- 30:53Speaker 7: so many others, including Hispanic media Channel forty seven, Channel
- 30:58Speaker 7: forty one at the time, the Ario La Prensa, and
- 31:02Speaker 7: the various Hispanic radio outlets. Lamega and some of the
- 31:08Speaker 7: others had always give it us a shout of radio
- 31:11Speaker 7: radio juado. I mean, they embraced us before anybody else
- 31:15Speaker 7: did it. I'll never forget. And this is the guy
- 31:19Speaker 7: who's going to take broadcasting right to the top with
- 31:22Speaker 7: a Hispanic emphasis.
- 31:23Speaker 4: Curtis Lee, you're a gentleman, a scholar, and a patriot.
- 31:26Speaker 4: Thank you, sir. I appreciate you. Can we expect to
- 31:29Speaker 4: see another run from you.
- 31:31Speaker 7: Ah well, I haven't missed the beach since I lost,
- 31:34Speaker 7: and the subways in streets every day doing what I've
- 31:37Speaker 7: always done. Stay tuned, watch the pivot in shift that
- 31:42Speaker 7: I undergo.
- 31:44Speaker 4: There's more to come straight ahead. I'm rich Aldez.
- 31:47Speaker 3: This is America.
- 32:00Speaker 2: This is America.
- 32:04Speaker 3: He's making podcasting great again. This is America with Rich Valdez.
- 32:16Speaker 4: All right, and he goes, welcome back anyway. I just
- 32:36Speaker 4: want to thank you for checking out the new studio.
- 32:39Speaker 4: As you could see in the clip that we had
- 32:41Speaker 4: with Curtis Lee, it's a really nice place. I hope
- 32:43Speaker 4: you enjoy it. I'm looking forward to bringing you a
- 32:45Speaker 4: lot more on the video platform. Believe it or not,
- 32:49Speaker 4: Video it's not my first love. I love radio. I
- 32:51Speaker 4: love being on the mic. I love the ability to
- 32:55Speaker 4: use theater of the mind to get into people's psyche
- 32:59Speaker 4: and whatnot. And this is truly what I love. But
- 33:02Speaker 4: I realize times are moving and they're moving fast, so
- 33:05Speaker 4: we got to get out the way, jump on board,
- 33:08Speaker 4: and that's what I'm here to do and bring you
- 33:09Speaker 4: the best material that we could bring you every day.
- 33:12Speaker 4: I appreciate you sharing the show, recommending people to the show,
- 33:17Speaker 4: and for listening each and every day. Like I always say,
- 33:20Speaker 4: you got to stand for something, because if you stand
- 33:22Speaker 4: for nothing, you'll fall for anything. And the only thing
- 33:25Speaker 4: necessary for evil to triumph is for good people like
- 33:28Speaker 4: you to do nothing, do something. I start a Brokesimon
- 33:32Speaker 4: until the next time America. I'm rich Valdez and this
- 33:36Speaker 4: is America.
- 33:37Speaker 2: This is America.
