Transcript
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Hey family, welcome in.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Welcome in again to our brand new podcast.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: This is episode number two, and I am Mickey, and Trish is here with us today.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: We are your hosts, we are Faith Builders.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: What is Faith Builders?
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: We have decided to come together, not only as friends, but as sisters in Christ to help build faith, not only in Christians, but even in non-believers.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: So if you're here today, we welcome you and that we hope that we get a chance to raise you up, lift you up, and um help build up your faith.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: That's what we're all about.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: We have a lot of scripture we want to share with you today, and we want to continue on with our topic of discussion that we started last week, um, which is a topic about distractions.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: And I wanted just to just share with you that if you were to go to the Word of God and actually look that up in the Bible, you're not gonna find it because it's actually not in there.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Although there are many different avenues and ways that it talks about distractions.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, like we we shared a little bit last week when we talked about Martha and Mary and Mark, um, in the book of Mark, and how Martha was always getting distracted, and Mary would be sitting at Jesus' feet.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: So something that the Lord laid on my heart today that kind of goes along with this topic that I want to share with you real quick before I hand the baton over to Trish is that um we live busy lives, and there's nothing wrong with being busy.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: That's okay.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: But the Bible does talk uh against being busybodied.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: So we have to be careful not to get so distracted with busyness that we f forget to focus in on our spiritual priorities.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: So I was talking to Trish earlier before we started recording this podcast, and I was explaining to her about the plate that I carry around.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: And I know a lot of us have our own way of describing um all of the things that we pile on us.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: And me, I just imagine me carrying this big plate of spaghetti with all these meatballs, and um kind of like that song when the meatballs fall on the floor.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: And and I think about it, where are my spiritual priorities?
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And sometimes I have to refocus because sometimes I don't even know if I can find my spiritual priorities in the middle of the mess because I've allowed myself to be too busy.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: And so today we just want to we just really want to dive in and we want to bring our spiritual priorities right to the top of the pile.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: And so I'm really excited today.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: We have a lot to share with you.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Trish has a great message for you.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: I can't wait for you guys to hear it.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: And um, we are gonna dive right in to talking about being distract, being distracted and not being not being distracted and how to overcome it.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: So I just want to welcome in Trish today.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: I'm glad that she's with us.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: We all can say good morning.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: Good morning.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: As you were talking, I got a load of information that came to my mind.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: Um, so last week we're talking about distract distraction and how um it means to drag away from.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: So um, and we also talked about Martha, Solomon, uh a little bit and the Israelites and Peter walking on the water.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: And each of those scenes were a just, you know, in a way they were being pulled away or dragged away from what they were supposed to do.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: And um, but Martha, she thought she was doing what she was supposed to do because you know she was preparing.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: And it is good to prepare, you know, that's not a bad thing, that's not entirely a bad thing, but there are times when we should be at the Lord's feet, you know, and he calls us to that, you know, he calls us to have a relationship with him, and it's not all about everything you can do, and you know, oh look, here I am.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: I'm over here feeding the homeless.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: Oh, look, here I am doing this.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: You know, I don't think God wants us to be, you know, bragging about all the stuff we do, it's more about um how you have your relationship with him one-on-one, you know.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: And you know, I remember when I first came to Christ, I was telling everybody, and people just got annoyed with me, you know.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: And sometimes I think relationships are just precious and sacred, and there are some things that we need to hold to our heart, you know.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: It says to guard your heart for it's the wellspring of life, you know, that's what the Lord says.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: And um, I have this little thing here I wrote out, it says, Guard your heart and renew your mind.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: Stay vigilant about what you allow to occupy your thoughts and seek to have your mind transformed by God's word.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: And there are scriptures to back that up, but I'm not gonna go into all detail with those because it takes kind of too long to go over them.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: But that is, you know, he does say to guard your heart, he does say to it does say in the word to renew your mind, um, take captive your thoughts into the obedience of Christ.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: And for me, I just like to grab it, throw it down, you know, like get that out of my head, you know.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: Um, because sometimes there's thoughts that come through your mind that are good, and some that are not so great, like when we get upset or when we have anxiety.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: And anxiety has been is a big one.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: Um, in the parable of the seed, it says, do it's about the worries of the world that will choke out the plant, right?
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: So the worries of the world, and then there's a scripture that I was having years ago a lot of anxiety, and I was having anxiety about being alone, but I wasn't alone because the Lord was with me.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: Um, and my husband was away, and you know, I had you know like a month to be with my kids by myself, but I just felt really alone, and I was overwhelmed with anxiety, and I get in the bathtub and I literally froze in my tub, and I froze, and I just held onto the side of the tub and I couldn't move.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: And that's how I would get anxiety attacks.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Like I I would breathe in and I would have this pain in my chest, and it hurt so bad I could barely breathe.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: And I'm doing these little small breaths until I could finally, and I'm like, oh my goodness, am I gonna drown in my tub?
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: Like this is not good.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: I was just clenching onto the sides with all my might.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: So I get out of the tub and I grab my Bible.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: It's it's it took a while.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: I was in there for a long time, and I grabbed my Bible and I just held it to my heart, and I was like, God help me.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: And I opened the Bible, and what comes to my mind is um in my when I open it, not to my mind, but when I open it is God's word, and it's Philippians chapter four.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: It says, Rejoice in the Lord always.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: I will say it again, rejoice.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: Let your reasonableness be known to everyone.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: The Lord is at hand, and in the other version it says, the Lord is near.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: Um, do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request, and another version says reasonableness, he um be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, and another version says trascends, which I like the word trustends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: Now, we can read the word all day, we can quote script scripture all day.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: We can be like, Oh, the Bible says this, the Bible says that, the Bible says, you know, which when I first came to the Lord, I'm really good at remembering scripture, so I would pop it out with those scriptures.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: It's about being a doer of the word, though.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: Like, not just hearers, but doers.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: And I believe that's why we got the parable of the seeds.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: We got the four soils, you know, and you know, there's the I can't remember exactly, but you know, I remember throwing, you know, putting seeds out for the birds, and I actually dropped some in the cracks, and some plants would actually grow out of the cracks.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: Birds would come and steal some of my seeds.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: It talks about the birds stealing the seeds.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: It also talks talks about the weeds and the tears and coming in and choking out the plant.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: So, you know, and that's the worries.
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: That's the one that always would get me, the worries, the distractions, the anxiety, the stress, you know, um, of the world.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: There's nothing we can do about things that are gonna happen, you know, like I couldn't control my father dying, I couldn't control my mother dying eight months later, I couldn't control my grandmother dying, you know, a couple years ago.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: You know, I can't I can't control death.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: I can't control the timeline.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: I can't, you know, um, in Isaiah 55, it says, um, you know, uh, you want something to drink, you want milk.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: Um, he says, My ways are not your ways, my ways are higher than your ways.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: So, you know, I had a dear friend who just lost her brother, and she was trying really hard to get to Pakistan to see him, and she's such a blessed friend.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, she was like, it wasn't God's will.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: I don't know why, but God's ways are not my ways.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: That's what she said.
- 9:59SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: In her, in her, she just wanted to hold her brother and see him, but uh it's the same thing that happened to me.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: I wasn't able to see my grandmother.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: And yesterday was her birthday, uh October 30th, and it's like I always think about her, you know, and she had a good hand in raising me, and but for some reason the Lord didn't want me to be there, you know, he didn't allow it, and that's okay because God has things the way he has them, you know, he allows certain things.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: So um there's the other things that are in that we wanted to talk about last week, where there's the seven abominations to God, and there it's in Proverbs uh 6, 16 through 19.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: Um, it says a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that um that devises wicked plans, and this is like a manipulation, you know, people that they want things their way.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: Now, if I could have had it my way, I would have not allowed my dad to die.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: I would not have allowed my mother to die.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: And there is one thing that you know, I was like, God, why I'm gonna go try to raise her from the dead.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: That's what I'm gonna try to do.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go at the so we're and I'm telling my husband this.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: We're at the funeral home where there, you know, the casket and everything, and the family can go in.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: And um, I wanted to see her.
- 11:41SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I'm gonna I'm gonna pray and I'm gonna see if God will raise her from the dead.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: That's what I'm gonna do.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: I need to talk to her.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: And um my husband just looked at me and he goes, Why would you take her out of paradise?
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Oh I I think God loves my mom more than I could ever could.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, all right.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: Okay, I've been I need to be obedient to that.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: That was just a really good eye-opener for me.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: Um so I couldn't manipulate it, I couldn't, you know, stop it.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: And then it says here, um, so it says that a heart that devises a wicked plan, that's the manipulation, um, feet that are swift to run into evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among the brethren.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: Now, you know, we can we can go to our friends, we can talk to our friends, we can, you know, tell them what's going on with us.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: But if that friend decides to take what you say and twist it around on purpose and devise a wicked plan against you, that that right there is an abomination.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: It's a proud look.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: They look at you in a proud way, and they're like, okay, so there it's a lying tongue, the hands that shed the innocent blood.
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: That's somebody who I believe, you know, innocent blood, you know, um, I'm against abortion because you know, that's innocent blood.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: You know, um children that are being, you know, abused and killed, and um just so many wicked things going on in this world that are against innocent people, you know, an elderly person, you know, you hit them with your car and you run off, you know.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: I mean, like they're in your way.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: I I went to court one day and this and they were like, You hit you hit her, and she goes, She was in my way, you know, it was like are you serious?
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and and like this person was from another country, but they were like, they shouldn't have been there, they were in the road, you know, and I don't think they knew our laws, you know, but I mean they're there for a reason, you know, and so yeah, just it's it's crazy to me.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and the discord, you know, when people sow discord, you know, it's if it's done with intention, you know, like like um you pretend to be one way with one friend and then another way, oh yeah, well, you know, da da da, you know, and and you make it sound like they're the problem, but you're the problem because you're the one that's twisting the truth to what you think in your mind.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: That's why we need to take captive every thought into the obedience of Christ.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: Because it are you having stinking thinking or are you taking it into the obedience of Christ?
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: Okay, now I I've had parents, us parents, we can be one-sided when it comes to our children, and we can we can be motivate motivated by thinking that they are up here and um you believe everything they say.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: But sometimes our our kids, our brains are not, you gotta remember their brains are not fully developed until they're 25.
- 15:22SPEAKER_01: And and you gotta give them some grace, they're learning, and we have to teach them, you know.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: And me and you, Mickey, we've had so many foster kids.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: Like, I had one kid tell me, Well, you're the one that wanted kids, you know, but like I'm like, well no, it's it's not that I wanted them, it's that God called me to you, you know, that He He wanted me to help you, you know, and sometimes they want your help, sometimes they don't.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: And a lot of times I've noticed like almost with every single one, they want all of your attention, not just a little bit of your attention, but all of it.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: And um that it's like if you give that child all your attention, it's another thing that's drawing you from the Lord.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: And we need our God time too, you know.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: And I think earlier, you said earlier that we even our children can become our idols, and we have to be careful of that.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: That when we give all of our attention to our child and we allow them to have their own way, and we always take their side, even over an adult, you know, over an adult.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: And sometimes adults are wrong.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: Don't get me wrong.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: There's been occasions where um with my grandkids, even that there's, you know, some you know, a situation that would come up and the adults were wrong.
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: But um, you know, you you have to be willing to listen to both sides and not just jump right to the gun, like this is my kid, and my kid's always right.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: Because sometimes kids are wrong, but also kids want to be heard.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: And one thing my daughter said the other day that I thought was amazing, it just amazed me.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Um my grandson was having trouble with this kid, and he's been having trouble with this kid since middle school, since like third grade.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: Now they're in um I mean elementary school, now they're in middle school, and the kid is bullying him again, and cause now it's getting worse, you know.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: And so Jackson, you know, came home and told my my daughter and said, Hey, this is this is happening again.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: And my daughter emailed the school and she said, Look, we've been addressing this since he's been in elementary school, and my son is at the point where he feels like the adults are not listening.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: And I thought, what a great way to say that, because every adult that needed to respond did.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: The counselor, the vice principal, even the teachers, the PE teachers responded because the child was able to say, I I don't even feel like the adults are listening, you know.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: And sometimes the adults don't listen and to the kids, and sometimes the adults listen too much to the kids.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: Like they take every single word at face value when it's not, you know, you gotta get down to the bottom of the truth, you know, and talk to, you know, communicate it out.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: So I think that's really important what you said because um we don't want that discord, and we definitely want to make sure that um we don't put our kids up on a pedestal, but we need to still protect them and and listen to them because kids, you know, you know, we want them to feel valuable and worthy and wanted, but we also need to teach them, hey, if you're not being honest, then you know we have to we have to deal with that issue as well, if that makes sense.
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and and we don't want to allow them to sow discord, you know, because they will to get your favor.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: I get that all the time.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: They want they want they will definitely sow discord among your friends, your family, you know, um people that you know, um, and even their own brothers and sisters, you know, and having foster kids, they have foster brothers and sisters.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: And I've I've had some that have just whispered in one's ear so bad that that one was the quiet one, and then they were like, I'm out of here, you know, because they felt defeated, because that child knew how to sow the discord so hard that they left, you know, and it it's sad.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: I knew I know what's happening when it's happening, but you know, um I just have to love them where they are, you know, and let God do the rest.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: And you know, he's let me know that I just sow the seeds, you know, and he waters it, you know, I don't have to worry about that.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: Um, and um, and you know, I'm not I'm not gonna judge people who've had abortions, but I just feel like it's something that we should be aware of that, you know.
- 19:43SPEAKER_01: Um I know uh many of my friends that have had them and they regret it now.
- 19:49SPEAKER_01: And and and it's it comes within like I I actually every single one of them have regretted it later.
- 19:56SPEAKER_01: They later that and even actually after it happened, they were like, What did I it was horrible, it was a horrible experience, I shouldn't have done it, you know.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: Um, and and they some of them never had children after that.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: And they're sad, that was my only child, that would have been my only child, you know, and and it's and it's heartbreaking for the person who did who did it, and and the people, but the people that push the idea, I feel like they're probably more guilty, you know, because I remember when I was pregnant with my first son, and it was being pushed on me.
- 20:33SPEAKER_01: Oh, you're not gonna have any freedom, you're not gonna get to hang out with us anymore.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: I lost a lot of friends because I was pregnant, and then the next year they all had kids.
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: I just I thought that was hilarious.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh yeah, look who's pregnant now, you know.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: I was the first one and all my friends, but um, you know, they were you know mocking me about it and um trying to encourage that.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: And I as soon as I heard the heartbeat, it was like oh wow, it just it melted my heart.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: But you know, and there's no way I could have done that, you know, after that.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: But um, so these things it says these represent a combination of inner motives on outward actions, emphasizing pride, dishonesty, dishonesty, violence, evil, it's like evil planning, haste in wrongdoing, false testimony, and and causing conflict.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: So here is a list of the abominations.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: What number one, the proud look, also described as haughty eyes or arrogance.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: Have you ever run anybody with haughty eyes or arrogance?
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: We just talked about that.
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: The evil eye.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's oh boy, you know, and then um, because they know they're right, right?
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: And they hold on to their rights.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: Um, I call that right fighting.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: That's my little way of fighting for your right to be.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Right, even though you're not right, or you could be a little right, but you're not always right, because our righteousness is like filthy rags to God.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: And if you know what a filthy rag is, a filthy rag is uh back in the Bible times, they had rags for the women's uh menstrual cycle, so they were dirty rags.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: That's what God says, even your righteousness, as much as it is, it's like a filthy rag.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: Um, and so then there's the lying tongue, intentional and deceptive lying, hands that shed the innocent blood, murder, murder, heart, heartless cruelty.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: Um a heart that devises a wicked plan.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: It's breaking it all down here.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: Um, internal scheming and malicious thought process, feet that are swift to run into evil, being quick to rush into mischief and wrongdoing.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, mischief and wrongdoing.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: Like, you know, it's fun, you know, and it's not fun.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: It's not fun for the people that the wrongdoing is being wrong, you know, you're being wronged.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: Sounds like a tongue twister right there.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: Um, a false witness who speaks lies.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: Now that's a straight lie, you know.
- 23:15SPEAKER_01: Um that's a bearing a false witness specifically to harm others and who sows discord among the brother and causing strife and conflict between others.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: And you know, I've had people straight up lie to me, and I knew they were lying, and I had evidence of it, you know, and they still hold on to the lie, you know, and it just that's something I don't just really um is confusing that they would just hold on to it because it it's it goes along with probably all of the said you know deadly sins, you know.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: Um I um I don't like being lied to, and I remember as a kid, my mom used to go, you know, Trish is different, she can't even lie, you know, she would kind of like be like, look at everybody can lie but Trish, you know, and my other sister was just a little smooth talker, you know, and look at you can't even tell that Sandy's lying.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: And I would I would sneak into the cookie jar and then be like, who got the cookies?
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, um wasn't me instantly.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: She knew it was me.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: I'm like, me, you know, and I just I just can never lie, you know.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: I just didn't want to that's a good quality though they have.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: I wish that we all had that quality, you know, because some people are really good at manipulating and especially manipulating the lie.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: They can not only lie, but they'll manipulate the lie to get people to actually believe it.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 24:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: And that's scary.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: That's even scarier than the person just lying outright, and then they totally twist the lie and try to get you to be, they convince you to believe every bit of what they're saying.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: And that can be that can be a little bit discouraging and you know, um infuriating at times because when you know someone's lying to you already, and then they literally try to manipulate you into believing their lie, um, it's crazy because I've had foster kids that will lie and lie and lie, and they will hold on to that lie for like a week until it just finally drowns them out.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: And if you stand your ground as a parent and you're just like, nope, I know that was a lie, I'm not gonna go back on it.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: No, that was a lie, I'm not gonna go back on it.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: And then um I've seen kids go a week later go, Okay, I did lie, I did lie.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: You know, because then they feel guilty, you know, you they start feeling that guilt over it, and they can't even hide the guilt anymore.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: But they tried for a whole week to manipulate you in believing that lie because they literally, I think they literally believed it themselves.
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: And that's the enemy.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: I think they distracts us, yeah.
- 25:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that that's true.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: And yeah, that's why it's important to take captive every thought into the obedience of Christ, because you know, we have that stinking thinking often.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: I'm teaching my brother right now that freedom comes by taking responsibility over your mistakes.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: Um, we don't we don't always do that because we're shamed, and shame shame can hold such a heavy weight over us that the enemy literally keeps us captive because we don't want to release that shame and take the responsibility of going, you know what, I made a mistake, I'm sorry, I did it.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: Because once they do that, if they just learn how much freedom is in just that alone, they don't have to keep living, living and hanging on to it and letting those lies build and build and build up within them, and then they have all the shame that piles on behind it.
- 26:50SPEAKER_00: If they just confess it, like that's what God says.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: Once you confess your sin and the to Jesus and ask for repentance, it's no longer there.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: God doesn't like keep a record of all your wrongdoings once you've repented.
- 27:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but he doesn't tell you repent, like you'll have a whole list if you don't come clean, you have to come clean, you know.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and that makes me wonder about um, you know, back in um Adam and Eve, and I've had a lot of kids have this shame thing too.
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: So Adam and Eve, when they were in the garden, um, you know, um, there's it's interesting how that Satan twisted the truth.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: So that's a lie too.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: It's not exactly the whole entire truth, but just a half truth, just a little bit of a twist, you know, and then you have a whole blown-out, different kind of conversation.
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: So he is talking to Eve, and Adam was with her because it says he was with her, and um he's talking the serpent is talking to her and um telling telling her, you know, um, did God really say that you would die?
- 27:55SPEAKER_01: Did he really say it?
- 27:56SPEAKER_01: Haha.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: Did he really say you would die?
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: Come on, you know, and then she says, Well, he said, lest you die, which okay, did God really say that?
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: No, he said you would surely die.
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: You would surely die.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: He didn't say lest, lest means maybe, maybe.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: So then she goes, Well, maybe.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: So she's like telling the devil, maybe.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: And um, so then she took and she ate it.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then Adam's like, Oh, look, she didn't die.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: And then guess what happens?
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: She took and ate he did, he both so so she was she at that point they were both not dead, or he she wasn't dead.
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: So Adam, what would Adam think?
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: But to oh, okay, I'm gonna try it too.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: So he takes it, and then both their eyes were opened.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 28:53SPEAKER_01: Both their eyes were open.
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: So it took Eve to get to Adam.
- 28:58SPEAKER_01: It took Satan messing with her and twisting the truth because he knew that she was part of him.
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: She's the rib, she was flesh.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: He said, You are flesh of my flesh, bone of my bones.
- 29:11SPEAKER_01: That's what he said.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: And so he will call her woman.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: And when both their eyes were open, this is was, and then everything was revealed, and then they knew they were gonna die.
- 29:22SPEAKER_01: And then they were like, Oh, so they ran off because they realized they were naked, but they weren't just naked, they were naked before God, right?
- 29:32SPEAKER_01: So they tried to hide from God because they knew they did something wrong, and so they're in these fig leaves, and God's like, Hello, where are you?
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: I'm just paraphrasing, but yeah, why are you all covered up with fig leaves?
- 29:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, we were naked and we hid, you know, and he's like, Oh, you know, and um this is what Adam tells him, we were naked and we hid.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: Who told you you were naked?
- 29:55SPEAKER_01: Right, well, that woman you gave me, that woman, that woman, her fault.
- 30:04SPEAKER_01: So here we go.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of the deadly sins in there.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: So that woman you gave me, of course, it's his fault, God.
- 30:14SPEAKER_01: He didn't just blame the woman, he blamed God.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay, and then and then um, and then uh what was it?
- 30:22SPEAKER_01: And then Eve was like, Well, the serpent made me do it, you know, like it was the devil, the devil made me do it.
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: And then um, so God got mad and he was like, Okay, that's it.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: You're guys are going out of the garden, you're not gonna be living in luxury anymore.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: You're gonna have to twirl the ground, you're gonna have to earn your keep, you know.
- 30:42SPEAKER_01: You want to come back to me, then you know, because he already had this beautiful relationship with them, this wonderful thing, and they even tried to plot and plan and scheme.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: And in the midst of all of this, God sacrificed the first animal to give them clothing that's called grace.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: And it's like, wow, I bet it was a sheep.
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm pretty convinced it said it, you know, one of the animals had to die to be sacrificed.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: And this is kind of a foreshadowing of what's going to be happening soon because there's a promise in there that God tells Adam and Eve that um he told Eve, Adam and Eve, that you will bruise his heel.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: He will bruise your heel.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: Satan will bruise your heel and you will bruise his head.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: So it's the seed, the the seed from the woman that would bruise the head of Satan.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: So this is the the promise.
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: And Jesus Christ, he comes and you know, going forward, and he comes and he is the the sacrifice.
- 31:56SPEAKER_01: He dragged the cross all the way to Calvary and with the help of one man, and he was hung on the cross.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: And here's that word again: drag, distract, drag.
- 32:10SPEAKER_01: But he was literally dragging his own body and that cross to show us how much he loves us.
- 32:18SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: And that's that was intentional.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: And in Isaiah 6, it it says that the you know, um, he had a vision of um Usiah, the king, this big king was such a great king, but even in all his majesty was not nearly as great as this vision that Isaiah had had.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: And it was the terrain of God's robe dragging through and filling the temple.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: And that word drag um in the Latin is trah, and it's also the same what we read last week as distract is trahir.
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: Now there's dragging in a good way and dragging in a bad way, but this train of this robe uh is very long and it's represented and the visual of it is like a kingly robe.
- 33:09SPEAKER_01: So the longer the robe, the more power.
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: So it's saying that the power of God is so great, it filled the whole entire temple.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: Well, our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit, where the Holy Spirit dwells, right?
- 33:25SPEAKER_01: From within us.
- 33:27SPEAKER_01: How blessed are we that God is going to use our bodies to let his Holy Spirit come in, you know, and dwell within us.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: And Jesus literally comes down from the high throne with a kingly, powerful robe that fills the whole temple, and it shook, and it was like this great, big, beautiful vision that Isaiah got to see.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: And he says, I am undone, for I'm a man of unclean lips.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: The angel comes, the seraphim comes and touches his mouth and cleanses his mouth.
- 34:03SPEAKER_01: He cleanses him.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's all these seven deadly sins, the lying tongue, there's devices, schemes, the call comes from the mouth, you know.
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: And um, we are undone, we are unclean, we are all like filthy rags, we do not deserve it.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: And Jesus literally dragged himself all the way to the cross, and that's where we can repent at his feet, where Mary was sitting at his precious feet.
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: How beautiful are the feet that bring the good news! That's what the word says.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: And if you believe in your heart that Jesus rose from the dead, you will be saved.
- 34:46SPEAKER_01: If he died and he rose from the dead, you will be saved.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: And if you confess that Jesus is your Lord, so Jesus, every day I have to say, You're my Lord.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: Help me, guide me.
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: Don't let me be distracted from the ways of the world.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: Don't let me be like Martha.
- 35:01SPEAKER_01: Don't let me be like Solomon, you know.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: Don't let me be like the Israelites and follow after idols, you know.
- 35:09SPEAKER_01: And idols can be people, they could be our own children.
- 35:13SPEAKER_01: It could be being a foster mom, you know, and um, you know, there's kids I had to let go, and God said, obedience is greater than sacrifice.
- 35:21SPEAKER_01: You need to let this one go.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: Let me take care of them.
- 35:25SPEAKER_01: Find out.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: God had them in a really good place, and they oh they always come back around and they remember, they remember the Lord because the the the word of God is sharper than a two-edged sword.
- 35:37SPEAKER_01: It doesn't not ever return void, even if it's sown on the cracked soil or the little, you know, God is going to bring it back, you know, and that's that's where we build our faith.
- 35:50SPEAKER_01: We stand on the truth and we stand on the word.
- 35:53SPEAKER_01: And um, you know, keep looking at God.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: Don't don't, you know, hold on to a filthy rag, you know, keep looking at Christ because He He became you know the punishment that we deserve.
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: And I think that's my wrap for today.
- 36:17SPEAKER_00: Um, going into closing, I think that's actually really, really good.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: Um, after going through all the abominations and stuff, because um, like this podcast alone, you know, building up faith is recognizing what Jesus did on the cross.
- 36:32SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't know about you, but when I start to think about what Jesus did for me on the cross, it it builds my faith immensely.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: Um, on days that I'm I I feel unworthy or weak or um you know, even violated against.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: Or um one thing I wanted to point out that you're talking about with Adam and Eve, and I love that you brought it to the attention, is that the enemy was like, Do you really think you're gonna die?
- 37:01SPEAKER_00: Do you really think you're gonna die?
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: Um they didn't die instantly, and a lot of people will go, Well, what well then do that makes God a liar.
- 37:11SPEAKER_00: I want people to understand they had eternal life, they were given eternal life, not a physical, fleshly, you live 120 years, or back in those days they could live 900 years, but or whatever.
- 37:25SPEAKER_00: M Methuselah lived like 948 or something, was the oldest living person.
- 37:29SPEAKER_00: But anyhow, um I was like, um, some people can get that twisted and think, well, did was God being dishonest if he said they were gonna die if they ate their fruit?
- 37:39SPEAKER_00: They did die.
- 37:40SPEAKER_00: Their flesh died, they had to die to their spirit.
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: And yes, they had to go live out in the wilderness, they had to sow their seeds, they had to have their family, they had to and look what happened with their children.
- 37:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, one of their children killed the other child.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, they had a lot of stuff that they had to go through because of one little lie that that enemy told, and they did not realize how valuable the life was that God had given them.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: They they had eternal life, and God had to cut the tie to eternity and give them a short-lived life, and that's where the death part comes in.
- 38:12SPEAKER_00: Because people are like, but they lived.
- 38:14SPEAKER_00: They did they lived and had kids.
- 38:15SPEAKER_00: How does that make you know?
- 38:17SPEAKER_00: The enemy isn't lying.
- 38:19SPEAKER_00: If he why did they live?
- 38:20SPEAKER_00: They did live, but they didn't live for eternity.
- 38:23SPEAKER_00: They had to repent in order to get their salvation back.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: They had to earn it.
- 38:28SPEAKER_00: And if they did or not, I'm I'm assuming that they probably are gonna be in heaven.
- 38:32SPEAKER_00: They probably felt really guilty afterwards because uh, you know, after what they did, they ru they realized that they had been deceived by the enemy.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: And they felt they felt death on them, and they realized that because even at that time, even though when they were born or made, excuse me, created, they were man and woman.
- 38:50SPEAKER_00: They weren't infant and infant.
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: Just like the chicken.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: Who what comes first, the chicken or the egg?
- 38:56SPEAKER_00: Well, the chicken, obviously, right?
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: The animals got created first, and then they all had, you know, um eggs and whatnot.
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: So it throws me for a loop when you think about it, because a lot of people go, Well, how how did they have death?
- 39:11SPEAKER_00: Where did the death part come in?
- 39:12SPEAKER_00: And it's a thing that as soon as they did that, could you imagine how they felt physically their bodies start dying?
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: Because they they were they were brought into the world as I don't know, let's say they're 25, 30 years old, and I know how you feel when you're 15, and I know how you feel when you're 25.
- 39:30SPEAKER_00: You your body feels a certain way.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: You as you're getting older, you don't feel as great.
- 39:34SPEAKER_00: I bet they went from feeling wonderful to feeling, oh, now I feel like I'm 25.
- 39:39SPEAKER_00: Could you imagine that death on you?
- 39:41SPEAKER_00: Because he said now they understand the death.
- 39:44SPEAKER_00: And I thought that was really important.
- 39:46SPEAKER_00: I wanted to touch base on that.
- 39:47SPEAKER_00: What do you have to say about that?
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but it's it's good you touched on that because um somewhere it says the glory of the Lord left them.
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: So they're in this like Shekinah glory, they're in this glory, they were in this protection.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: And um, one thing that God said, Dust you, you were, and dust you will become.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: Meaning, like literally, when we have dry skin, the dust in our houses, that's a part of us.
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: Dust coming off our skin.
- 40:14SPEAKER_01: And I look at them and go, There are them.
- 40:16SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, here's some dust.
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: You know, here I go.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're all we're fading away, you know.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: It's like when we're born, we're born with like more water in our bodies, and then as we get older, we have less and less.
- 40:33SPEAKER_01: And I really feel like I need lotion.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: I need, you know, there's nothing that's helping me.
- 40:39SPEAKER_01: Um, another thing that you triggered my mind on is there was one final atonement, okay?
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: And the the Israelites, they were uh, you know, getting these spotless animals and killing them to oh, I sinned, let me kill up, but you know, and they're constantly killing animals because they're so simple.
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: And they couldn't keep up with all their sin, and God's like, that's it, you know, I'm gonna do one final sacrifice, and it had to be the perfect Lamb of God, which was Jesus.
- 41:09SPEAKER_01: And think about this Adam and Eve, they they grabbed the fruit, Jesus' hands for both Adam and Eve, their feet.
- 41:21SPEAKER_01: He got the nails in his feet, atoning from them rushing into you know, evil and running from God.
- 41:31SPEAKER_01: You know, they were they were to you know, oh, we're naked, we're running.
- 41:35SPEAKER_01: And and then um the next thing was the side, his side was pierced.
- 41:42SPEAKER_01: His side was pierced.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: Think about that one.
- 41:45SPEAKER_01: Now that represents where is that?
- 41:48SPEAKER_01: It's next to your rib.
- 41:50SPEAKER_01: That's Eve.
- 41:52SPEAKER_01: You know, as you know, the woman.
- 41:55SPEAKER_01: And then um the crown of thorns.
- 41:58SPEAKER_01: This is the man.
- 42:00SPEAKER_01: The thorns, you will become you're gonna have to toil the thorns and thistles.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: You're gonna have to, you know, have to work the ground now.
- 42:09SPEAKER_01: And and this is work.
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: This is the work you're gonna have to do, and you're gonna have to suffer, and you're gonna be dust again one day.
- 42:15SPEAKER_01: You're gonna do this till you die.
- 42:16SPEAKER_01: You're pretty much gonna have to work, work, work, and then you're not you till you can't work no more, you know.
- 42:23SPEAKER_01: And where's the thorns?
- 42:24SPEAKER_01: It's in the mind.
- 42:26SPEAKER_01: The thoughts, the and and now and the enemy, he's the uh Satan means thought caster, or is it Lucifer?
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: Anyway, hit the devil's name is thought caster.
- 42:36SPEAKER_01: That's what it means, the definition.
- 42:39SPEAKER_01: So he's constantly throwing these thoughts at us, you know.
- 42:42SPEAKER_01: It's like it's like the I always tell some of my kids, get out of the vortex, get out of the vortex, you know, the matrix, you know, get you know, all the bullets are coming, you know, and like they're they're coming at you, these weapons of in your mind.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: And it's very good to have a good sound mind.
- 43:02SPEAKER_01: And I don't like to drink, I don't like to do drugs, I don't do that stuff because I want to have a sound mind.
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: Now, when kids are young, they want to have fun, they want to play, they want to do this.
- 43:14SPEAKER_01: I grew up in Oliver's and there was nothing to do.
- 43:17SPEAKER_01: So, what did we do?
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: Kids ran around.
- 43:20SPEAKER_01: Well, I couldn't go anywhere.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: My mom was really strict, but um, a lot of kids ran around and went to parties and did drugs, and some of them stayed on drugs, some of them lived a long time, some of them didn't.
- 43:32SPEAKER_01: Some went to jail, some died.
- 43:34SPEAKER_01: You know, I know a kid that I was I loved him.
- 43:38SPEAKER_01: His mom was such a good person.
- 43:40SPEAKER_01: He died in a car accident in high school, you know, from drinking and driving, you know, and it it's it's like the enemy wants to take you out.
- 43:50SPEAKER_01: He comes to kill, steal, and destroy.
- 43:52SPEAKER_01: That's his idea.
- 43:53SPEAKER_01: He did it from the beginning.
- 43:55SPEAKER_01: There's nothing new under the sun.
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: He's still doing it, he's still trying to use.
- 44:00SPEAKER_01: Use all these little um you know lying tongue and all these things, his lying tongue, you know, and he uses kids against each other because their brains are still developing, right?
- 44:13SPEAKER_01: And why don't we just let them do drugs and convince them that it's a fun time so that the pathways in their brain can always crave it, you know?
- 44:22SPEAKER_01: And there's so much to do with your mind, you know.
- 44:26SPEAKER_01: We have to have a sound mind in order to be able to be vigilant, you know, and and I know people that still struggle, that did it in the past, and they have physical issues now, even though they're in Christ.
- 44:39SPEAKER_01: Thank God they came to the Lord because they knew they they needed him, they can't do anything without him.
- 44:46SPEAKER_01: So some in some people it did of my friends that it did cause them to draw near to God, but um sometimes I've noticed that their thoughts are not always, you know, in the right direction because they really struggle.
- 44:59SPEAKER_01: It's like um I had uh special egg classes, okay.
- 45:07SPEAKER_01: I would say I'm not that smart, you know, but I read a lot.
- 45:12SPEAKER_01: And how did I do that?
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: I I how do you train your brain?
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: You read, you read, you read, you read, you read, you know, you keep you have to want it.
- 45:22SPEAKER_01: How much do you want it?
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: Do you want this?
- 45:25SPEAKER_01: Do you do you want to get out of this special ed class?
- 45:27SPEAKER_01: Do you want to quit being teased about it?
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: Yes, and guess what?
- 45:31SPEAKER_01: In my in my school, one of my teachers gave me a student success in progress because guess what?
- 45:38SPEAKER_01: I finally went mainstream, and I was doing poetry, I was writing poetry, I was excelling in English of all things, you know, because I wanted it.
- 45:49SPEAKER_01: How much do we want a relationship with Christ?
- 45:52SPEAKER_01: Right, you know, you know, I in uh second grade my hand, my I was left-handed, and my hand was tied behind the chair because the teacher told us that we were of the devil.
- 46:04SPEAKER_01: And um, I was forced to write with my right hand, so all I would do was color.
- 46:09SPEAKER_01: So, you know, I'm a little, you know, I I tend to um I have this friends, they were their names were Tim and Sam, and I would say, Hey, Slim and Slam, and I was like, Oops, sorry.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: And so sometimes I get a little, you know, off kilter.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: And it's because my brain had to switch over.
- 46:30SPEAKER_01: And I use both sides of my brain.
- 46:33SPEAKER_01: So, you know, if I'm if you think I'm a little weird, that's probably why.
- 46:37SPEAKER_01: You know, or if I'm like, oh no, I'm not dingy, I swear.
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: It's just me, you know.
- 46:44SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh, you know, but anyway.
- 46:46SPEAKER_01: Um, but God knew and he's you know, helping me, and I had to want it.
- 46:52SPEAKER_01: I had to want it, I have to want, and I want Jesus and I want to hold onto the hem of his robe and just not get distracted, you know, and definitely, you know, um we should want to be at his feet like Mary.
- 47:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:11SPEAKER_00: I I love that.
- 47:12SPEAKER_00: So I w going into closing now because then we only have just we have a couple minutes that I wanted to touch base on, but um um, which I think that's a great story because I don't think none of us are are normal.
- 47:23SPEAKER_00: I think there is no normal.
- 47:24SPEAKER_00: You know, I hate that people go, Oh, you know, what at what level of the spectrum are they?
- 47:29SPEAKER_00: I'm like, are we at is there anybody that's right right in the perfect spectrum?
- 47:34SPEAKER_00: No, no, I don't think so.
- 47:36SPEAKER_00: So I think that when you said if you think I'm a little woo-woo weird, whatever, I think we're all a little woo-woo weird, you know.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: I know people think I'm crazy at times and whatever, but in closing, I want to share a scripture out of the King James um Bible, and um again, it's talking about being diligent.
- 47:54SPEAKER_00: And one way we can stay away from distractions is by being diligent in the word.
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: And so I want to share Proverbs 423, and it says, keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.
- 48:07SPEAKER_00: And I love that it says that because it it's very it's it's telling you very clearly that if you do not stay focused on God, then you're gonna be you're gonna be dealing with a bunch of issues in your life.
- 48:19SPEAKER_00: And I don't know about you, I've I've dealt with many issues in my life because I didn't keep my eyes on Jesus.
- 48:24SPEAKER_00: I was like Peter, I started sinking, and I would have to come back up and you know I'd be all blurb, blur, blur, blurb, I'd be almost down there, you know, and and Jesus would be like, gosh, it took you long enough, I thought we were gonna lose you, you know, kind of thing.
- 48:36SPEAKER_00: And so I love this scripture, and I again I love the book of Proverbs because it has so much wisdom, and Solomon was so wise, but it literally says that we have to keep our heart with all diligence.
- 48:48SPEAKER_00: And that that means if we do that, it's gonna help us to keep ourselves from distraction.
- 48:53SPEAKER_00: And I like that they both are words that start with the letter D.
- 48:57SPEAKER_00: Um, so when we start to think, man, I'm distracted today, I think if we turn flip our thinking and go, I'm not gonna be distracted today, I'm gonna be diligent today.
- 49:06SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna be distracted today, I'm gonna be diligent today.
- 49:09SPEAKER_00: And I think that will help motivate ourselves to not focus so much on the issues of life, but stay focused on our spiritual priorities, like we talked about in the beginning, that um we have our our life issues all on our plate.
- 49:27SPEAKER_00: Where is our spiritual priority?
- 49:28SPEAKER_00: Is it on the top?
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: Is it in the middle?
- 49:30SPEAKER_00: Is it on the bottom?
- 49:31SPEAKER_00: Did it fall on the floor like the meatball, you know, that falls on the floor?
- 49:35SPEAKER_00: Are you looking around for it?
- 49:36SPEAKER_00: Where are we at in our spiritual walk with Jesus?
- 49:39SPEAKER_00: If we keep our eyes on him, which it says we're supposed to keep our eyes on him, um, he's not ever gonna let us go.
- 49:46SPEAKER_00: But I love that this verse literally says, to keep thy heart with all diligence, because if we keep our heart diligent, it will keep us from the the distractions.
- 49:57SPEAKER_00: It'll it'll help us.
- 49:58SPEAKER_00: God will show us, hey, that's a distraction.
- 50:00SPEAKER_00: Don't do that.
- 50:01SPEAKER_00: Hey, that's a distraction.
- 50:02SPEAKER_00: Because you're diligent with him and he's gonna start showing you.
- 50:06SPEAKER_00: And we don't see it because we're not we're not acting like Mary.
- 50:10SPEAKER_00: We're running around like Martha.
- 50:11SPEAKER_00: And then we're irritated because we think that Mary should be getting off her rear end and helping us do the dishes when Jesus is like, she's right where she needs to be, which is probably right where you need to be.
- 50:22SPEAKER_00: So that is my message that I want to share today.
- 50:25SPEAKER_00: I wanted to add that in there before we um um you know go into closing.
- 50:30SPEAKER_00: Is there anything you want to say at the very end before we um close out?
- 50:34SPEAKER_01: I just love that passage.
- 50:36SPEAKER_01: Um, diligent.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: When you were saying diligent, I was thinking of um guard your heart for it's the wellspring of life.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: You know, that verse just came to my into my mind is to guard your heart and you know, keep it, it's a sacred thing, you know, between you and the Lord.
- 50:54SPEAKER_00: So I think we I think we manipulate sometimes our even ourselves when you know we talk about the abominations.
- 51:03SPEAKER_00: Um it it's really easy for us to point fingers at other people, but we need to we need to point the fingers at ourselves and ask God to do a work in us.
- 51:12SPEAKER_00: And what I know is like if you have got if you're spending time with God and you're focusing on your relationship with God and you're working on yourselves, we're not so busy pointing out everyone else's mistakes and flaws, you know, and God's teaching us how he wants us to be.
- 51:27SPEAKER_00: We're supposed to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
- 51:29SPEAKER_00: Like back in the day when they had the braces, like what would Jesus do?
- 51:32SPEAKER_00: What would Jesus do?
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: I used to I miss those kind of things because um it was a really good clear reminder, like, hey, I'm about to do this.
- 51:40SPEAKER_00: Well, what would Jesus do?
- 51:42SPEAKER_00: Would he do this or would he not do this?
- 51:43SPEAKER_00: You know, would he you know celebrate Halloween, which today's Halloween?
- 51:47SPEAKER_00: Like, how many people are gonna be celebrating Halloween?
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: And that's a huge topic for Christians.
- 51:51SPEAKER_00: Like, there's a lot of Christians that are gonna celebrate Halloween, and there's Christians that are absolutely against it.
- 51:56SPEAKER_00: And I do believe that each person's convictions are personally based on you know their relationship with Christ.
- 52:02SPEAKER_00: Where are they at with Christ?
- 52:04SPEAKER_00: Myself, I do not celebrate Halloween, but my family does.
- 52:08SPEAKER_00: Um, so it's kind of a torn thing with me.
- 52:11SPEAKER_00: So um but I don't go around and I don't like um but like I don't like yell at my daughter like, oh, how dare you?
- 52:18SPEAKER_00: You know, I'm like that's that's gonna be her personal conviction.
- 52:21SPEAKER_00: I do tell her that I believe it's that's not a good idea.
- 52:25SPEAKER_00: So um my phone is actually like no one calls me all day until we're in the middle of a podcast, so I apologize.
- 52:32SPEAKER_00: But anyway, um I just wanted to say that in closing.
- 52:36SPEAKER_00: I do think that we need to stay diligent and and not distracted.
- 52:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's that's amazing.
- 52:45SPEAKER_01: Um, we should we pray out?
- 52:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you want to pray, Sah?
- 52:49SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: Um dear Lord, I thank you for this time that we've had together on distractions and and God help us draw near to you, Lord.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: Help the people draw near to you um to just live above our brokenness, to come at your feet, Lord.
- 53:06SPEAKER_01: And um your words says not to be anxious for nothing with prayer and petition.
- 53:11SPEAKER_01: God, we put this all before you, Lord.
- 53:13SPEAKER_01: It says your grace is sufficient, your power is made perfect in weakness, and God, we we can't do anything without you.
- 53:22SPEAKER_01: And um we just thank you, Lord, and we ask your peace be with us and help us not be distracted, Lord.
- 53:31SPEAKER_01: Um, help us to just keep our focus and our eyes on you in Jesus' name.
- 53:36SPEAKER_01: Amen.
- 53:36SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 53:37SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 53:37SPEAKER_00: And follow for all of our listeners out there, if you need prayer for anything, just um send us a message and Trish and I will be glad to um put you on our prayer list and we will pray for you.
- 53:47SPEAKER_00: And um we just thank you for for being with us today and that we hope that we had a chance to help you build your faith.
- 53:53SPEAKER_00: We want to do do this one podcast at a time.
- 53:56SPEAKER_00: Um, our next episode will be probably a continuation on distractions.
- 54:01SPEAKER_00: And um hopefully we don't get distracted and trying to figure well out what that's gonna be.
- 54:06SPEAKER_00: Um, but anyway, we thank everyone for being here.
- 54:09SPEAKER_00: We all we hope that you all have a great and blessed day, and um we'll talk to you all again real soon.
- 54:14SPEAKER_00: Take care.
