- 0:14Low Hi Jay Fallon, Thanks for listening to the slippery slope.
- 0:17So can anyone tell me? I need some feedback.
- 0:21Can you tell me if you've had COVID and if you've been at the
- 0:26the jab, have you had COVID recently and have you had the
- 0:31jab now? I know this is just anecdotal,
- 0:34OK, not offering this as as you know as the as the evidence to
- 0:44end all other evidence, but I obviously never got the jab.
- 0:51Sorry, I've had had COVID once once and now recently we've
- 0:58seen, I'd I'd noticed in my the area where I work quite a few
- 1:03people had come down with with the new variant, the new variant
- 1:07and what came out today, this report, I'll bring it up so you
- 1:11can have a look at it. It says that we've got the
- 1:14latest, the latest COVID figures in and there's a bit of an
- 1:18outbreak, the latest COVID-19 news and case numbers from
- 1:22around the States and territory. So it says that as school
- 1:26holidays come to an end and people return to work,
- 1:28Australians are reminded to take precautions against another
- 1:31substantial wave of COVID-19. There are currently more than
- 1:3626,000 active cases of COVID-19 across the country due to
- 1:43changes in testing and reporting requirements.
- 1:45Chief Medical Officer Professor Paul Kelly.
- 1:48Not to be mistaken for musician Paul Kelly, he says these
- 1:52figures are likely underestimated.
- 1:54When you look at the official figures of cases, that reflects
- 1:57what's happening in the community and it's helpful for
- 2:00monitoring, but it's not the total story.
- 2:04When you look at the way we're having now, which is
- 2:07substantial, that's a sign that COVID is circulating in the
- 2:11community. COVID case numbers and related
- 2:14deaths have been on a downward trend over the past year.
- 2:19That's mainly due to the hybrid immunity that we have at the
- 2:23moment from previous infection, but crucially, from our high
- 2:27vaccination rates. This is what the professor says.
- 2:30He's the expert. But he warns one of the reasons
- 2:33why we are seeing another wave now is because of waning
- 2:36immunity. And you know what that means?
- 2:39That means you all got to go out and get get another jab.
- 2:42That's, that's what they're they're pushing for another jab.
- 2:45You can see it now, he goes. I am concerned about those that
- 2:50are more vulnerable to severe diseases.
- 2:52So the people who are over the age of 75 in particular, there's
- 2:56been nearly A5 fold increase in cases in in aged care homes over
- 3:00the past six months with 419 facilities affected by an
- 3:04outbreak right now. Going on to say he reminds
- 3:10Australians to keep their vaccinations up to date, There
- 3:12it is. That's what it's all about.
- 3:14Keep your vaccinations up to date because someone is making
- 3:18money, so you got to guarantee you can guarantee.
- 3:21That's why they're pushing vaccinations.
- 3:23The latest COVID-19 advice from the Australian Technical
- 3:27Advisory Group on Immunization is you're not required by law to
- 3:32isolate if you have COVID-19 symptoms, but it is strongly
- 3:36encouraged you stay at home. You should not visit high risk
- 3:40settings like hospitals and aged and disability care settings for
- 3:44at least seven days or until symptoms have gone, unless
- 3:47seeking immediate medical care, blah blah, blah.
- 3:52Basically there's an outbreak. They're saying that it's that
- 3:55new one, that new version that they've got.
- 3:58What is the JN? They did a talk about it.
- 4:01It was written in here somewhere.
- 4:05It's the new one anyway. That's the that's the outbreak
- 4:08that they've got happening. I just, like I said, send me
- 4:13some feedback. If you've been vaccinated, Have
- 4:15you had COVID again? Have you had COVID several
- 4:18times? Because I never got vaccinated.
- 4:21As I've told you, I've had COVID once.
- 4:24I know a lot of people who have had COVID 234 even five times.
- 4:30I'm not trying to make fun of these people, but and they've
- 4:32all been vaccinated. Everyone I know that's been
- 4:36vaccinated has had COVID several times, several times, and it and
- 4:41it just seems to get worse every time.
- 4:44They they really get hit hard. And then the people I know like
- 4:51myself who haven't had it, they've been sick once or twice,
- 4:55but then that's it. They're all actually some of
- 4:58them not even at all. So let me know Australia.
- 5:03Australia is in another outbreak.
- 5:05Apparently we've got the wave flooding across the nation.
- 5:09The professor, Professor Paul Kelly wants us all to go out and
- 5:14get the jab again. Keep up to date, but let me know
- 5:19if you've been jabbed. Have you gotten COVID several
- 5:23times? If you haven't been jabbed, how
- 5:26many times have you had it? Inquiring minds need to know.
- 5:31Jay Fallon, thanks for listening to the Slippery slope.
