- 1:53them for all the details. Gotta have a little fun, but still talk
- 1:57some serious stuff on the show to the attorney Rusty Webbs going to join us
- 2:00a little bit later on Rusty being the world traveler that he has just got
- 2:04back a few weeks ago from France. We're going to get his thoughts on
- 2:07Normandy. He was actually actually visited the site. We're going to talk to
- 2:09Rusty about that. Uh and also got some other things I want to get
- 2:15into as well. We are one week away from the beginning of the Stern
- 2:19wolver Gota in Charleston. Oh my goodness, look who's here. It's our
- 2:23good friend, meteorologist Brian Hughes from Storm Track of thirteen. How are you,
- 2:25my friend? I had to listen. I was listening to the rundown
- 2:29up there at Marianna. Uh huh. And just we all, I mean
- 2:32we love Marietta. Oh yeah, Mariana is a lot. It's actually the
- 2:36home of the American Stern Will Association. I knew that. I knew that
- 2:38from being friends with you. I know that. So yes, we we
- 2:43we're all looking at each other, going we could go do these concerts.
- 2:46Well later on this summer, you've got Steven Adler from Guns N' Roses is
- 2:51coming with Ace Frehley of Kiss Yeah, Marty Stewart, Leroy Parnell there.
- 2:58That's that's one show. That's a kind of show. Those exhibit Bubba sparks,
- 3:05so this is all Theodelfia there. It's all outside. It's all outside
- 3:08Piadelphia. You see how they set up a whole big area there. But
- 3:12all right, I'm don't head you here to talk about, but I'm gonna
- 3:15give you twenty seconds. What kind of weather we look at that today?
- 3:16Weather boy, well we did. That's how I get the name Captain Tornado.
- 3:22But anyways, that now, we we've got some scattered showers and thunders
- 3:24strums that are out there right now. Obviously, you know if you've been
- 3:29in one of those showers, I mean they're they're a good little shower,
- 3:30but they are falling apart as they run across I seventy seven, moving west
- 3:35to east. But we do have one little shower that's just popped up out
- 3:39there, you know, right at Jefferson Saint Albans, and that's gonna work
- 3:43its way across South Charleston. Got a little lightning strike with that. So
- 3:46otherwise we will have more scattered showers and storms as we go through the afternoon.
- 3:51Give me, give me a timeframe for the control we're looking. We're
- 3:53looking somewhere between three and six o'clock is our peak time for thunderstrom activity.
- 3:58Across the area. Some of those could be strong, severe gusty wins a
- 4:00primary threat. We're not looking at tornadoes. Yeah, that's red. It's
- 4:03well, you can never you can never say that. Yeah, you can
- 4:06never say no. You can never say never on a tornado. Tornado threat
- 4:10it's insanely low. Mostly these are just going to produce some gusty wins and
- 4:14uh, some of that brief heavy rainfall and some you know, it's just
- 4:16gonna be loud when they pass by. You're gonna love it when they passed
- 4:19by. Beau's gonna coley down for a hot second. After that, you're
- 4:23gonna hate life because it's gonna be so humitted muggy. All right, you're
- 4:26done with the weather now, thank you, because that's what because that's what
- 4:29you always want to talk about, is the weather. But we are one
- 4:31week away from the regatta beginning here in Charleston, and once you introduce your
- 4:34guest here with us, well, we've got with us today. We've got
- 4:38Josh Scott, who he is literally he's been uh, you know, beside
- 4:42me the entire time these last three years. If well I might have talked
- 4:46about it, I might be on camera things that nature. He's been doing
- 4:49logistics, he's been doing doc Master, he's been all kinds of things.
- 4:53And he along with you know, Josh McGrath's Better Homes of Gardens, Real
- 4:57Estate Central. Uh, you know there make cheer that. The wheel Wash
- 5:00Beer Festival. The first event is the Charleston Ceremony. We've got a kicks
- 5:03off at four o'clock on Wednesday, July third, four o'clock. Okay,
- 5:09game, well, but it's it's trust me. It's a radio television thing.
- 5:12We're always thirty minutes ahead because we don't want to we don't want to
- 5:15be like gentlemen, good morning. I'll let whoever wants to start talking start
- 5:18talking. Good morning, thanks for having us. Go ahead, Josh tell
- 5:21us what we got coming up. So we have two Josh's yeah two Josh
- 5:25yeah, okay, all right, Josh one, Josh two, Yeah,
- 5:28that works, go ahead. No, we got the Willa Washed Beer FESTIV,
- 5:30which is the official kickoff event for the Charleston Cernmo Regatta. It starts
- 5:34at four thirty on Wednesday the third. We're gonna have dj EJ from here
- 5:40in Charleston. He's gonna be EMPC in the event and h helping us introduce
- 5:44some of the local brewers and their they're fine wares that we're going to be
- 5:47serving. We've got the MFBS from Huntington and Funkal Sam, their lead singer
- 5:53who love that name, Always always, always a good time. He's he's
- 5:57asked me for lots of leeway, so he's gonna be dancing his way all
- 6:00around Slack Plaza all afternoon. As far as the rest of the event goes,
- 6:06we're going to have two vi P tappings for two local beers at the
- 6:11top of each hour as part of the VIP ticket, as well as Shade
- 6:15and misting fans. We're gonna have catered food from Black Sheep Burrito. I
- 6:19think Josh's favorite thing that we've talked about today has been the mechanical bull that's
- 6:24going to be part of it. We have a we have an actual mechanical
- 6:28because a mechanical we're going to feed people beer and put them on a mechanical
- 6:30board. Well, I mean what, I'll be in the corner taking pictures.
- 6:33Yeah, yeah, let's let's let's have alcohol and a mechanical bull.
- 6:36You know, have you not seen Urban Cowboy? That's a CANVU left standing
- 6:41by on Summer Street. Josh, talk about the other Josh, let's talk
- 6:46about your guys involvement in this. So we've we've been involved with the regatta
- 6:49since it came back, So this is our third year being involved, and
- 6:53this year we are going to be the primary sponsor for the wheel Wash Beer
- 6:57Festival. It's right down the street from our Charleston office, so that made
- 6:59perfect. It's for us to be able to get there and help. So
- 7:01we're going to have a huge contingency of our agents there serving the beer that
- 7:04day. Like he said, it kicks off at four point thirty and we're
- 7:09super excited to as always support the city of Charleston and specifically the Regatta.
- 7:14Now explain the name the will Wash Beer festal So, will wash is the
- 7:16white water that falls off the back of a moving stern wheel. It reminds
- 7:20you of ahead of beer, right, like the things that go together.
- 7:24Yeah, first I thought I was washing wheels. I was like, wait
- 7:26a minute, I don't know what I'm signing up for. It's not cool.
- 7:28I'm not doing this. I'm not. But your company and your involvement
- 7:31in this, why are you so involved in this? Well, for a
- 7:34couple of reasons. Number one, I mean, our company has always believed
- 7:36strongly in the idea of supporting and giving back to the companies where we are
- 7:41located or to the cities where our company is located, and that's always been
- 7:45something. But with the regatta specifically, it's right outside our office. So
- 7:48I mean, we see these couple hundred thousand people that come to the city
- 7:53of Charleston and they're getting to see the city for in some cases for the
- 7:56very first time. We want to make sure they have a great impression and
- 7:59maybe even consider making a move. And this is one Brian, you were
- 8:03telling me earlier, this is one of the more profitable events that they were
- 8:05goind of hands. Yeah, and that's the thing, you know, while
- 8:09while we're a five oh one C three, you know, this helps support
- 8:11which the various causes listen at this This event is a it costs a ton
- 8:16of money to put on, but it also helps that the causes that we
- 8:22do because this is you and I've talked about this before. People don't see
- 8:24what we do behind the scenes for the kids. Uh. And there's a
- 8:30we feed kids, we h we gave them, we give a hundred bicycles
- 8:35away during the bicycle during the USA Cycling event. Uh, we take care
- 8:39of them. We make sure that they get a good time, you know.
- 8:41And a lot of those kids that are underserved, those ones that you
- 8:45know, need that little helping hand that they want to play with their friends.
- 8:48But let's say their friend doesn't have you know, uh, one of
- 8:52the friends doesn't have all the money the other friend does. We actually give
- 8:56them that little helping hand quietly to make sure that they can have that snowcaut
- 9:00that they can ride the rides of the carnivals and everything else and just have
- 9:03a good time. Because Jane bossic uh one of the one of the best
- 9:07humans around here, and she makes sure that this whole event goes off without
- 9:11a hitch. She talked about when she was a kid, she love the
- 9:15regatta and her and you know, her sister had come over here and play
- 9:18and everything else and watch everybody, watch everybody do the events and everything else.
- 9:24And then they didn't have, you know, partly a pot to do
- 9:26whatever, and so they'd run home real quick and get a piece of bread
- 9:31and some butter on it and heat that, grab a glass of water and
- 9:33go right back to the regatta, and so she said, we've all talked
- 9:37about this. We want to make sure the kids get taken care of and
- 9:41get to enjoy and it's events like this that are profitable that we're able to
- 9:46put this money back into the regatta and do the things that we like to
- 9:48do. And then you know, it's obviously economic boost for the entire region.
- 9:54It is the largest economic driver outside of you know, essentially WV football,
- 10:01So you know it's more than doubly economic impact of the State Fair.

- 10:33all of our stations about the regatta in detail the next couple of days.
- 10:39Overall, Brian or any of you guys, the two Joshes you can jump
- 10:43in here as well. Overall. How are things looking for regatta? As
- 10:48far as the different events, I don't give me specific times because it'll all
- 10:50get mixed up. We'll get to that later. But what's new this year?
- 10:54Anything new? Do you can answer some of this stuff? New this
- 10:58year? We moved the Kid Zone this year from from Magic Island to Summer
- 11:05Street. That will take place every day. That's a place where kids can
- 11:09find inflatable rides, snacks, drinks, goodies, all kinds of stuff.
- 11:16And then of course the Wheelwash has moved this year from Capitol Street to Slight
- 11:20Plaza as well. That first evening. As far as the lineup for music,
- 11:24you know, Wednesday we've got Shaggy Uh. Thursday we've got the Fab
- 11:28four, which is the official UK Beatles tribute band. And note but that's
- 11:33saying when not University of Kentucky. Yeah it's England. Yes, Sports Sports
- 11:37Night's like maybe make sure yeah? Yeah. Friday we've got Eddie Montgomery of
- 11:41Montgomery Gentry. And then Saturday we have the Isle of the Nineties Tour,
- 11:45which is a rotating group, but this year we're guaranteed to have Vanilla Ice,
- 11:52Tretch from Naughty by Nature, Tone Loak, and a bunch of others
- 11:54other guys. It's supposed to be really awesome. It'll be awesome. And
- 11:58you know he talks about the Kid Zone. You know, we had it
- 12:01Magic Guy on the last couple of years. You just got really hot down
- 12:03there and and it was a long walk for some folks, so we decided
- 12:07to keep it. Bring it up to slack Flies that they're on Summer Street
- 12:09and me that plays are going to be jam packed with all kinds of things
- 12:13for kids to do. And plus we've got the you have you know,
- 12:16you have the splash pad down at Magic Guy and that's still going to be
- 12:18running. But we've got you know, the little water feature there in front
- 12:20of the stage there at Slack Flies. So that's going to be a lot
- 12:24of fun. And uh that kicks off just you know, we've got the
- 12:28will Watched Beer Festival on Wednesday. The Kid Zone kicks off on Thursday,
- 12:33July fourth, and runs all the way through Sunday. And by the way,
- 12:35Sunday is going to be the the nineties dance party, eighties nineties dance
- 12:41party. Essentially every MTV music video that ever ran is going to be.
- 12:46That's back when MTV actually had video that is correct. Yes and yeah,
- 12:50exactly before they killed the news site yesterday, I know exactly. He cried
- 12:56just a little bit. But but the jumbo tron down. It's down at
- 13:00tadd Ed Riverfront Park. It's going to be up and running and we're gonna
- 13:03have a big dance party. It's gonna be awesome. That's on Sunday,
- 13:05And of course the Stern Wheelboat Races. Stern Wheelboat Races Breeze Airways there.
- 13:09They run at jets about five hundred miles an hour. We run boats about
- 13:13six to ten miles an hour. They're sponsoring that to bring you the Stern
- 13:16will Boat Races on Sunday at one o'clock. Now we're going to be talking,
- 13:20as I said, a whole lot about the regatta. I've got the
- 13:22mayor's schedule to be on the show next week, maybe a couple of times,
- 13:26and Brian, I know we're gonna be hearing from you and all the
- 13:28others. So because we like to think about ourselves as kind of the Regatta
- 13:33station, and all of our stations are going to be there. I know
- 13:35animal is well, you had animal at beer, you know, as soon
- 13:37as you said beer, Steve animals in but all of us I think you
- 13:41might have had one this morning already. What I had a text question here,
- 13:48Brian. I know you're always good at answering questions. Somebody wanted to
- 13:50know about the deal with the splash pad a Magic Island. The city should
- 13:54let them know, let the public know why. It's not an operation.
- 13:58You don't work for the city, but you have any idea? Yeah,
- 14:00I do not, and typically I know you Josh Scott and I have worked
- 14:03with them and been down there before. Sometimes it is literally it is a
- 14:07part and those parts are Sometimes we know that they had to get apart,
- 14:11that had to come from overseas, like last year, year before last,
- 14:15and it was all this COVID stuff and backlog, right, we could safely
- 14:18assume that might be it. But at this point it's going to be a
- 14:20part of some of something. Okay. Well, and I know the people
- 14:22at the city are always listening to the show, so way for fifteen O
- 14:26or Jain or anybody who listened. They can call us Upper Texas whatever.
- 14:28We'll get an answer to that question. Guys. We'll be talking to you
- 14:31a lot. The we'll watch beer beer Fest. What's the time again?
- 14:35Four thirty Wednesday? The third? All right, black pleasant, it's lack

- 18:38a five dollars meal deal that includes your choice of a mcdouble or McChicken,
- 18:42four piece nugget, small fry, and a small drink only five dollars.
- 18:47It's all part of McDonald's Summer of Value. And here's what I have for
- 18:51you to help them kick it off. I just happen to have a twenty
- 18:55five dollars gift card from McDonald's and I will give it to you if you
- 19:00are caller at three right now. Three zero four three four five fifty eight

- 19:36Uh, Rusty doesn't care to answer the phone while he's on the air anyway,
- 19:41and he's just one. No, I give it. I was gonna

- 20:11your phone's working again. He didn't drop it in the new river, not
- 20:15the second time, no time. So the story is, I had Rusty
- 20:18on the show schedule last week and got nothing, didn't show up. I
- 20:23tried to call and straight the voicemail, couldn't figure out anything, and I
- 20:26find out later only because your daughter posted who I don't know but posted it
- 20:30on your Facebook page. Dad lost his phone in the New River while fishing
- 20:37soda. Listen. I called where we live, there's there's the cell service
- 20:44was out. Frontier was out, So I did, like Green Acres,
- 20:48I go up on top of the hill the night before when Coop and Dave
- 20:52are on and I called w r v C and say, can give me
- 20:56Dave Allen's voicemail, and like we don't have one for it. I said,
- 20:59well give me Coop's voicemail. So give me Coop's voicemail. I said,
- 21:02Coop, tell get a hold of Dave. Tell him I can't make
- 21:04it tomorrow. Well Coop just tells me his voicemail just came back like he's
- 21:10just working. So I tried. I tried call my cell phone because I
- 21:14could didn't have selle servant what you called the voice. I know, I
- 21:18know there's a reason for that. There's a reason for this is attorney speakers.
- 21:22What exactly anyway you got your phone? They're selling the bottom of the
- 21:29river. It's still in the bottom of the river. Well, obviously it's
- 21:32working now, so it's still in the but I'm going to go back and
- 21:34get my fishing rods. I know where, I know where I dumped them.
- 21:37So you lost the fishing rods. And oh, you have lost two
- 21:40fishing rods. Yeah, to I have to carry four and I lost two.
- 21:45But I'm going to go get my snorkel gear and I'm gonna go and
- 21:48get it. I know exactly where it is. All right. Well,
- 21:51by the way, I want to say congratulations to Michael Rose of Charleston.
- 21:53Michael Rose was the winner of the twenty five dollars McDonald's gift card second place
- 21:59one are next to Rusty Webb, but Mike Michael was Michael was our winner.
- 22:03I got you on here for a serious subject. But before we get
- 22:06to the serious subject, I want to talk a little politics with you because
- 22:08I want to kind of transition into that. Sure the governor's race, Rusty
- 22:12has come down to Republican Patrick Morrissey, uh the current Attorney General and Democrat
- 22:18Mayor Steve Williams of Huntingson. I was going to say, I was going
- 22:22to say, I you you are good friends with both, not asking for
- 22:26who you're endorsing anything like that, but you're just your thoughts on the race.
- 22:30Well, you know, West Virginia has gone from red to dark red.
- 22:36And I love Steve, Steve like a brother, and I've seen his
- 22:44leadership. I've also seen Morrissey's leadership. But I just I don't see a
- 22:51pathway. I just don't see a pathway. And it's not Steve, it's
- 22:55any it's any anybody with in front of their Now I said, I just
- 22:59don't see a pathway for for victory in November, for any any any du
- 23:07anyone with a D in front of them. And the irony is is when
- 23:10I was in politics, Uh, it was the opposite. There was there
- 23:14was if you had an R in front of your name, you you didn't
- 23:17have any times the times they did a change around twenty fourteen. It's maybe
- 23:19a little bit before that, still fourteen, yes, when it started.
- 23:22It's amazing, amazing how West Virginia flipped to UH to West Virginia has always
- 23:30been conservative that they always they've been conservative Democrats and then everyone switched. And
- 23:37I think I think Obama and UH Trump had a lot to do with it.
- 23:44I think this is one thing I think that historians are going to look
- 23:47back on this time one hundred years from now, and and talk about quickly
- 23:52about the race for Senate to replace Joe Manchin, Governor Jim Justice, who's
- 23:56back in the news again, and I'm going to get into that a little
- 23:59bit later on. And Willie mayor Glen Elliott, the Democrat. Your thoughts
- 24:02again go going back to what you said, Earl, I think, first
- 24:07of all, Governor Justice is beloved by the entire state, and no matter
- 24:12what happens in his personal life, for his business life, people look past
- 24:18it. They love what he's done. And I don't see. I mean,
- 24:26I don't I don't even see. I mean, I think he'll be
- 24:29lucky. If you gets double digits of the Elliott candidate. It's a d
- 24:33It's again, it's a d thing. It's not seems like a decent human
- 24:36being on the show. And I know I've known Steve Williams for years.
- 24:38I know he is Trump. Biden too, was sixty nine percent the last
- 24:47time. It will be greater than that. This time it will be Trump
- 24:52will get seventy five percent in West Virginia. But what about nationwide? Who
- 24:56wins? Well, if they don't steal it, it will be Trump.
- 25:02I'll come on, come on, uh, listen every demographic and I don't
- 25:08listen. I watch my z TV every night. I watch Andy Griffith,
- 25:14I watched the I don't watch National or any crap. But when I do
- 25:21go on social media, it seems like every demographic recognizes that that Joe Biden
- 25:29has not done a good job. And it's I don't think it's as I
- 25:33think the people in the middle or it's not going to be so much a
- 25:36pro Trump, it's going to be an anti Biden thing. And then the
- 25:38Trump Trump has his core base there. I think Trump wins. I learned
- 25:45something one of my buddy, a guide buddy of mine, Matt Witt.
- 25:51I was with him Saturday. He I was telling him that I was trying
- 25:56to develop some public policy and he was telling me, I said, we
- 26:02need to do some corrections reform. You just can't use the nineteen twenties model
- 26:07anymore for throw away the key. Put him in throw away the Key,
- 26:10and he told me. And I didn't realize this, and I'm embarrassed at
- 26:12I don't that President Trump started that. Every felon loves President Trump because he's
- 26:18the one who started this program as president to give to give, felons an
- 26:23opportunity to earn their way out of prison. And that's something that I have
- 26:29that's proposed in West Virginia for years and years and years and years, and
- 26:33I think we have that to some extent. But I thought, wow,
- 26:37I didn't even know that I knew. I thought I knew everything about him.
- 26:40But wow, that's that's pretty progressive to do that. It is.
- 26:44Indeed, let me move on to why we have you here to Dave Allen
- 26:47showing five eby Live though I need to say this is presented in part by

- 27:07com. I'm want to get your recent trip to France. This is why
- 27:08we had you on the show. You made a trip to France. Why
- 27:11were you there? What do you have to report? Well, ostensibly,
- 27:17Robin and I went over to watch the French Open in about three or four
- 27:22days before we left, I realized that we were going to be over there
- 27:26near the eightieth anniversary of D Day, and so Robin schedules all the tours
- 27:33for us. So she I said, we've got to We've got to get
- 27:36a tour up to Normandy while we're there. We have to. So she
- 27:40did. She successfully got us a tour and it's an all day trip.
- 27:45It's about three and a half hours up to Normandy from Paris and of course
- 27:52three and a half hours back. So in a day trip that just leaves
- 27:56you about three three or four hours. So we went up. We went
- 28:02to Omaha Beach first, and that's where the cemetery is. And I'm a
- 28:07dave. I don't know if you know me, but I'm a huge fan.
- 28:11I'm I'm never in the military, but I'm a huge fan of World
- 28:15War Two veterans and veterans in general, but particularly the last you know,
- 28:21the that generation, and we just don't honor them enough. We really,
- 28:26we don't honor any of them enough. But anyway, so we're up there
- 28:30and all the all the podiums are up for the dignitary. We're there on
- 28:33Monday, they're they're going to be there on Thursday, and it was just
- 28:40emotional, it was evocative, it was sobering. I mean when you see
- 28:47all of the crosses. Uh. Now remember understand this and I didn't know
- 28:55this. U the French government has basically given the United States government a lease
- 29:00in perpetuity of like I'm going to say, thirty acres of Beachhead for and
- 29:08it's it's US owned. So so these are these are American soldiers that are
- 29:15in the cemetery. And intermittently you could hear through this very and and by
- 29:22the way, the United this is one time the United States government does things
- 29:25right. It's just perfect. You could hear taps being played, and then
- 29:30you could hear the Star Spangled bear, a very melancholy version of the Star
- 29:34Spangle ban. And then we go intermittently while you're walking around this campus.
- 29:40And I had a museum, a small museum there, and of course you
- 29:45you couldn't you couldn't go down to the beachhead. You couldn't go down there.
- 29:51And I don't know why. But the the other thing that impressed me
- 29:53was if you've ever if you've seen the movies as I have, the best
- 29:59one be the Longest Day and the Longest I want to get back to the
- 30:03movie The Longest Day. Have you you've seen it with with all those huge
- 30:07actors in it, like every major actor in Hollywood was at nineteen yeah,
- 30:11in nineteen sixty two, and John Wade was like a primary role, right,
- 30:15so you know, there were some big stars. But what what I
- 30:19didn't the perspective is and this remember the beach is probably eroded over eighty years,
- 30:26is how how wide that beach is. In other words, the Germans
- 30:30had all kinds of time. You you couldn't just run up and get under
- 30:36a cliff you had you had You've got one hundred two hundred yards of beachhead
- 30:41to get underneath. You know that those pill those pill boxes, I mean,
- 30:45I've never seen a beach that wide, and that that was That's something
- 30:51that impressed me. And then we went over to uh Utah Beach and uh
- 30:56there we went to an actual uh one of the pill you know where the
- 31:03where the Germans shot out and uh and the and the holes that were created
- 31:10by the by our our you know, our battleships still you know, huge
- 31:15and big rocks that were uh you know, thrown off of those little fortresses.
- 31:22Uh, and it just and they love us, you know, you
- 31:30know, we're not loved a lot. You know, we're not loved a
- 31:33lot, but the French, and especially the French in Normandy, they absolutely
- 31:37love us. Every single flag And I don't know if this is year round
- 31:41or or just during this you know, eightieth anniversary, but every single flag
- 31:47had a US and French flag subside everywhere everywhere you went. And uh,
- 31:52the re enactors. You know, I'm accustomed to seeing, uh, we
- 31:55are you know, civil War reenactors, but these guys there were and I
- 32:00don't know how they get their jeeps over there from wherever, from foreign countries,
- 32:04but they they have their jeeps, they have their tanks, and there
- 32:08were tons of reenactors from every unit you can imagine being you know as reenactors.
- 32:17So that was kind of cool. I've never seen I wasn't. I
- 32:22didn't, and I thought, you know, that would be really neat to
- 32:24have it a Veterans Day parade. If we had any reenactors locally, I've
- 32:30never known of any, but maybe they're around. But these guys dressed the
- 32:34part and sometimes you couldn't tell that. And there were a lot of I
- 32:37remember there was one lady from I think she was from the US. She
- 32:40she was covered in medals and she must have been somebody because people were taking
- 32:45pictures with her. And but sometimes you couldn't tell the re enactors from the
- 32:50real you know, if you didn't know the uniform style it was, it
- 32:53was that it was that good and uh wow, I just the same sacrifices
- 33:00that that that they made, and of course the stories. But I want
- 33:06to get back to the Longest Day that that is that is considered the best
- 33:12depiction of the actual events that occurred on that day. And literally our tour
- 33:19guide when when he was telling us stories leading up to Utah and Omaha,
- 33:23he would talk about the the little town of Eglace where uh and this was
- 33:31in the movie, and everything he said was in the movie. So the
- 33:35movie captured some of the great moments, like there was a hotel or a
- 33:38house on fire. So when the paratroopers came down, the Germans had this
- 33:43bright light to see him and shot him out of the sky. I mean,
- 33:46that's in the movie and that really happened. And then the part where
- 33:52the British I remember he is uh, you know, save the bridge or
- 33:58don't don't. There's some saying that the British guys had, the British para
- 34:01troopers had to protect this bridge until until relieved, don't stop until relieved.
- 34:09It was like this echo thing going that really happened. The clickers they sell
- 34:14the clickers that really happened whether you would click click twice and they were supposed
- 34:17to click back once. That really, I mean, everything that's in that
- 34:22movie he was telling us on this trip, it was in that so that
- 34:27movie captured and the fact that it was raining the whole time. And then
- 34:31they go, we got this one one window, you know, this one
- 34:35window to cross the channel. H what kind of It's just amazing. Talk
- 34:43about before I have to let you go rest you talk about the mark that
- 34:46it left on you and what you walked away from there with it. Just
- 34:58I don't know if we could win World w TO today, I don't.
- 35:01I don't know if we have the men who have the guts that those guys
- 35:05had. I mean, I'm serious. I just the courage, the crazy
- 35:10courage to take on you know, they say, it's one thing to protect
- 35:16your own homeland, it's another to protect someone else's homeland, but they everybody.
- 35:20But in the fact, you are still protecting where they had a big
- 35:22picture and that's what we did that in World War one, World War and
- 35:25World War Two. We knew, we knew what was happening, and we
- 35:30would be there eventually. But it just it just reinforces the great respect that
- 35:37I have for that for that generation. Just and again, we sometimes forget,
- 35:43Rusty. We're talking about seventeen, eighteen, nineteen twenty, maybe twenty
- 35:49one year old kids. That's what we're talking about here. We forget we
- 35:52think about the men, and they were men. If they weren't men when
- 35:55they went there, they damn sure were they when they walked away. But
- 36:00we are talking about kids, you know many My grandfather quit school in the
- 36:04eighth grade and he wasn't at Normandy, but he was. He fought in
- 36:07World War two, and uh, you know, we're talking about seventeen eighteen
- 36:09year olds. I mean, and I agree with you not to be pessimistic.
- 36:14I don't know. I don't think we could do it today. I
- 36:15really don't. Just hope I'm wrong. We just don't have the same DNA.
- 36:20We just don't have it. I agree, Russy, I gotta let
- 36:22you go. Man. I guess some other things I get into. I
- 36:24appreciate you stopping by. Man. By the way, Danny Jones just sent
- 36:28me a text and said, listening to you guys in Utah. So he's
- 36:31in Utah. Listened to us on that as is Danny. So we're big
- 36:36so that when they look at the map, we're people at Utah one.

- 42:55yesterday's show, we had Delegate Kathy hes kraust On talking about homeschooling Texas.
- 43:00Ninety percent of homeschooled parents do a good job, like the delegate, it's
- 43:05the other ten percent we need to talk about. I was a school nurse
- 43:07for thirty five years and I saw very sad cases. Portfolios don't allow anyone
- 43:13to lay eyes on the child. Our legislators have taken that opportunity away over
- 43:19the years. Going back to the Kathy Krause interview, Yesterday's tex says,
- 43:25don't let Kathy Krause lie next time she's on demand specific curriculum examples. There
- 43:30is no such agenda. One of the questions I asked Delegate Crouse yesterday was
- 43:35why we've seen such a rise and not only homeschooling, but also in private
- 43:40schools, charter schools, anything other than public schools. And she claims,
- 43:46and I've heard parents say this, that one of the reasons why is well,
- 43:52she mentioned bullying is number one reason, but that the second reason was
- 43:55is that a lot of parents did not her words, did not want their
- 44:00kids to be indoctrinated in public schools. And she mentioned LGBTQ and things of
- 44:04that nature, and gender issues and things of that. That's one of the
- 44:07things. That's what that text is in reference to. And one other one
- 44:12on the homeschooling for yesterday for a delicate Cross says, I'm glad she had
- 44:15the time and commitment for her kids, but with such a low bar and
- 44:19such low monitoring, how can we allow this to be called an equivalent education.

- 46:50Justice financial news. A federal judge in Delaware has ordered a company owned by
- 46:54Governor Justice and his family to get ready to have a sell off. Now,
- 46:59this one has to do with the for sale of Bluestone Mineral, Inc.
- 47:01That is a holding company that's within the Justice business network. Brad mclhanny
- 47:07has a story post at wv metronews dot com and he will discuss it in
- 47:10detail with Hoppy later in the morning on talkline. The exact wording is the
- 47:15shares of Bluestone Mineral shall be sold to satisfy the judgment in a form to
- 47:22be proposed by the parties to the court action within thirty days in quotes.
- 47:28Now, this is significant because this is not just another company that the Justice
- 47:34family owns, all right. This is a holding company, meaning it takes
- 47:39in a whole lot of other companies. Too. It is. It's very
- 47:44complicated stuff, but it is not surprising. You can read Brad's full story
- 47:52and it is a long story, and it's got charts and everything at WV

- 48:15if the city happens to go into the red over the whole tych hunt situation,
- 48:20don't for one second even think about increasing this legal form of theft known
- 48:24as the user fee, says a texter. So let's talk briefly about baby
- 48:34dog and the murals. Did you happen to read or here? I should
- 48:42say not? Well, you can read it because there's a story about on
- 48:44the websites, but you can also you could have heard it yesterday Randall Reid
- 48:46Smith on talk Line yesterday. He says that the dog that was depicted in
- 48:54the murals is one hundred percent baby dog. Now, the governor on Monday
- 49:02says he was surprised by the whole thing. Didn't know anything about it.
- 49:08I don't know where, whether the governor did, whether the governor didn't,
- 49:12I don't know. I know Randall Reid Smith said that it definitely was was
- 49:16baby dog and huh. And I've listened to Hobby talk about this the last
- 49:22couple of days. You know, sometimes the things that we talk about in
- 49:25the world of talk radio, and I listen to a lot of talk radio
- 49:28literally all over the country, so it's not just here, it's the things
- 49:32that people are talking about, and in my travels the last couple of days,
- 49:37it seems to have occupied a heck of a lot of thoughts in people's
- 49:42head, this whole baby dog in the murals face. And keep it in
- 49:44mind, we're talking about a dog that did not become popular in America until
- 49:50many, many years after the murals. That are the ones that have gone
- 49:55out and you know dog, the dogs, dogs were around. I did
- 49:59some research. English bulldogs were around at that time, but they weren't as
- 50:02popular as what they would become years later. And a lot of people are
- 50:08greatly upset about it. A lot of people are saying it's the greatest thing
- 50:12ever, and a lot of other people are just saying, you know,
- 50:15so what, so what, move on. But that's just kind of where
- 50:19we are right now. I, for one, I have no issue with
- 50:22animals being up there. I do have an issue with a personal pet being
- 50:27up there of a particular governor, not Justice. I don't care if it's
- 50:30if it was Joe Manchin or or Ray Tomlin or Bob Wise or Ceil Underwood.
- 50:34I don't know that depicting their their pet was the best idea and the
- 50:37best use of the monies. But you know, we never we've never had
- 50:44a first pet quite like baby Dog. I don't know that we I mean,
- 50:49I'm sure others had animals. I was gonna say the governor's mansion,
- 50:52but I don't know that baby Dog's ever seen the governor's mansion. So I
- 50:55don't know if we can compare this to anything or not. But baby Dog
- 51:01did bring a lot of love. I will agree with what the governor says.
- 51:07There, Tex says. I've been working in the schools for four years
- 51:10now, and I haven't seen anyone try to change a child's gender identity.
- 51:15All I've seen is teachers and aids struggling to teach reading math to children whose
- 51:20parents barely participate in their child's education. Delicate Craus is an exaggerator, says
- 51:27a Texter. Tex says, Dave baby Dog is like Lassie. There have
- 51:30been like six after dogs that sub in. They all do a great job.
- 51:36Tex says. If a professional artist did it as artistic liberty, liberty,
- 51:39that's one thing. But this was dedicated to the artist by political appointees.
- 51:45That makes it inappropriate. And quite frankly, it's weird when you're in
- 51:49office and your folks do it while you're there. It would have been better
- 51:52if it was done after he left office, you know, humility and all
- 51:57that, says a Texter. All right, gotta go thank some. I
- 52:00regot a guest Brian of the two Josh, just for stopping by the show
