- 0:06Speaker 1: Tariff deadline is coming and it could be looming into
- 0:09Speaker 1: a market crash that will break down for you guys today.
- 0:11Speaker 2: My name is Paul Barren.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Welcome back into tech Path, and today I want to
- 0:15Speaker 1: thank our sponsor, and that is I Trust Capital. You
- 0:17Speaker 1: guys can, of course, kind of avoid all of this
- 0:20Speaker 1: by investing long term, and the way to do that
- 0:23Speaker 1: is usually through iris.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Remember four one k iras.
- 0:27Speaker 1: You guys can go out and build your investment portfolio,
- 0:30Speaker 1: but you can also do it with crypto and the
- 0:32Speaker 1: way you do that is visit I Trustcapital dot com.
- 0:35Speaker 1: No matter what kind of investing strategy you want to use.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Let's go over to a couple of the points I
- 0:39Speaker 1: want to hit on today. So I want to go
- 0:41Speaker 1: to this first story, why is crypto market down today?
- 0:43Speaker 1: There's a few points within this that we'll hit on.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Two hundred and thirty million wiped off crypto market last
- 0:48Speaker 1: twenty four hours. Is on bitcoin failed to sustain the
- 0:51Speaker 1: recent rally to eighty seven okay, And of course investors
- 0:55Speaker 1: now are a little bit more in the.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Risk off mode. That's a big factor. Obviously.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Donald Trump, he delivered this spitch speech yesterday and this
- 1:03Speaker 1: was a nothing burger. Again, probably not as cringe as
- 1:07Speaker 1: the summit, which I felt like was a little cringe,
- 1:10Speaker 1: but this one definitely did not deliver. And the reason
- 1:13Speaker 1: is he did reiterate support, but he failed to announce
- 1:17Speaker 1: any new policies. It is really just kind of a
- 1:19Speaker 1: check in that is a problem I think overall. And
- 1:22Speaker 1: when you look at the bitcoin reserve, many people look
- 1:25Speaker 1: at this and think, well, you know, the bitcoin.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Reserve is can it be a good thing, could it
- 1:30Speaker 2: be a bad thing? How do you guys see it.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I'm always kind of curious about what you guys think
- 1:34Speaker 1: about this. The other thing that is playing into this is,
- 1:37Speaker 1: of course Trump is also looking at this whole situation
- 1:40Speaker 1: around April second. Let me see if I can zoom
- 1:42Speaker 1: in on that for you guys a.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Little bit there.
- 1:44Speaker 1: It's going to be liberation Day for America as we
- 1:48Speaker 1: have been ripped off by every country in the world.
- 1:50Speaker 1: That's his whole statement on the second. The plan is
- 1:54Speaker 1: to create reciprocal tariffs, I guess worldwide right now. And
- 2:01Speaker 1: if that does go through, the impact on the markets
- 2:05Speaker 1: could be deafening in terms of not only the S
- 2:08Speaker 1: and P five hundred, we could see gold becoming a
- 2:10Speaker 1: skyrocketing asset. Bitcoin might end up plummeting depending on how
- 2:16Speaker 1: the markets come out of the S and P five hundred,
- 2:19Speaker 1: because it's very tied to the S and P five hundred.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I want to go to a clip here.
- 2:23Speaker 1: This is Peter saint On and he's talking about tariffs
- 2:26Speaker 1: and the impact because there could be some short term
- 2:29Speaker 1: pain but some long term gain.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Take a look.
- 2:32Speaker 3: China is terrified that Donald Trump could turn it into
- 2:35Speaker 3: a Japan style zombie economy. According to Wall Street Journal,
- 2:40Speaker 3: China is quote right to worry because Trump's aggressive tariffs
- 2:44Speaker 3: on China with more to come on April second, are
- 2:46Speaker 3: hitting when China's economy was already reeling from failed central planning,
- 2:51Speaker 3: with trillions of overcapacity dumped into state favorites from green
- 2:55Speaker 3: energy and evs, two semiconductors, and commercial aircraft. Now I
- 2:59Speaker 3: mentioned previous videos that Trump's dream of bringing production back
- 3:03Speaker 3: to America's actually possible if business taxes and red tape
- 3:07Speaker 3: are tamed. Doge is aiming directly at both. While Trump
- 3:11Speaker 3: wants to repeal the entire income tax. Given America's huge economy,
- 3:14Speaker 3: we're one quarter of the entire global economy. If you
- 3:17Speaker 3: nestle that under a big beautiful tariff umbrella and cut
- 3:21Speaker 3: costs and red tape, you get a flood of even
- 3:24Speaker 3: Chinese companies wanting to make it in America. Beijing will
- 3:28Speaker 3: be bribing them to stay. Of course, it's not just Trump.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Doing business in China has always been like dating a stripper.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Looks good, but there's an awful lot of drama.
- 3:38Speaker 2: All right.
- 3:39Speaker 1: So a couple of points I want to get on
- 3:40Speaker 1: that Saint Anjbank's there is this whole situation with terrors
- 3:44Speaker 1: because many people look at this and say, this is
- 3:46Speaker 1: absolutely a deafening for what we're going to see here
- 3:49Speaker 1: in the market in terms of impact on jobs, impact
- 3:52Speaker 1: on small business, impact on employees in the federal government
- 3:56Speaker 1: who are been laid off by the hundreds of thousands
- 3:58Speaker 1: right now. The number could really start to impact how
- 4:02Speaker 1: we see the market going forward in terms of inflation,
- 4:07Speaker 1: possibly even stagflation where we see a.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Lot more job loss.
- 4:10Speaker 1: The key here, though, is critical, and that is the
- 4:14Speaker 1: fact that the United States economy controls a quarter of
- 4:18Speaker 1: the global GDP. Basically all the consumption is pretty much
- 4:21Speaker 1: done here in the United States. And I know it's
- 4:23Speaker 1: twenty five percent. But you have to remember there's one
- 4:25Speaker 1: hundred and eighty countries out there, and the sense that
- 4:27Speaker 1: one country is in control of over twenty five percent
- 4:31Speaker 1: of that world's economy, and most of the countries that
- 4:34Speaker 1: are shipping into the United States are depending on that
- 4:37Speaker 1: because of its capability of one spot kind of like
- 4:40Speaker 1: one stop shopping. That is a huge, I think, a
- 4:44Speaker 1: huge hammer. And this is what I think the situation
- 4:47Speaker 1: is brewing with China. If they aren't able to really
- 4:49Speaker 1: kind of offset this. That's why I think you're seeing
- 4:52Speaker 1: China make deals with Canada, Mexico and pretty much anybody
- 4:55Speaker 1: they can to try to backfill this. But I do
- 4:57Speaker 1: not think it's going to work. It is going to
- 4:59Speaker 1: be tightrope for Trump to be able to walk the
- 5:02Speaker 1: issue of tariffs without pushing the economy further into and
- 5:07Speaker 1: possibly a recession. So lots of changes right now for sure, guys,
- 5:13Speaker 1: And I think the key here April second, whether you're
- 5:16Speaker 1: trading into it or trading out of it, let me
- 5:19Speaker 1: know drop some comments down below. Always subscribe right here
- 5:22Speaker 1: by the way.
- 5:23Speaker 2: We are flying on. Subscribers.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Thank you very much for continuing to watch this show,
- 5:28Speaker 1: and we of course cannot do it without you, guys.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Let's go over to Trump's race to make us a
- 5:33Speaker 1: bitcoin superpower. This is, of course, has been a big
- 5:35Speaker 1: deal with the Bitcoin reserve, and one of the things
- 5:38Speaker 1: that I think we have to look at is this
- 5:40Speaker 1: right here, and you have to kind of compare what's
- 5:43Speaker 1: happening in the rest of the world. So the your opinion,
- 5:45Speaker 1: noon in China, Mexico, North Canada have taken such drastic steps,
- 5:49Speaker 1: so they haven't moved in to follow behind them. I
- 5:52Speaker 1: think a lot of bitcoin people were thinking that we
- 5:54Speaker 1: would see immediate following of the United States, and we
- 5:59Speaker 1: may actually see the opposite of it. China, of course,
- 6:02Speaker 1: is the US largest trade partner by far, and it
- 6:05Speaker 1: is also the most prominent geopolitical opponent, but it's taken
- 6:09Speaker 1: a very strong stance against bitcoin. Now remember, China is
- 6:13Speaker 1: still i think in the top fifteen in terms of holders,
- 6:16Speaker 1: maybe top ten, and that I think will still play
- 6:20Speaker 1: into this. But when you look at the EU, which
- 6:23Speaker 1: has been very aggressive on good legislation or concrete legislation
- 6:27Speaker 1: may not be good, but concrete legislation at least.
- 6:29Speaker 2: They know what the rules are.
- 6:31Speaker 1: But it's not necessarily offering that much opportunity in terms
- 6:35Speaker 1: of strategic reserve, So that again is another factor. Now
- 6:38Speaker 1: bo Hinz, who is one of the guys that is
- 6:42Speaker 1: helping David Sachs kind of lead the charge here on
- 6:46Speaker 1: the Trump administration for digital assets, he talks a little
- 6:49Speaker 1: bit on the bitcoin reserve and the stockpile.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Listening, I'll actually point you to Senator Lemmis's Bitcoin Act
- 6:56Speaker 4: of twenty twenty five, in which she believes that we
- 6:58Speaker 4: can identify the real true value of some of these
- 7:01Speaker 4: gold certificates that that are. You know, basically, I think
- 7:04Speaker 4: it's like one hundred and seventy dollars an ounce is
- 7:06Speaker 4: what they're categorized at right now, and if we actually
- 7:08Speaker 4: realize the gains on that, that would be a budget
- 7:10Speaker 4: neutral way to acquire more bitcoin. I mean, there's there's
- 7:13Speaker 4: countless different ways you can do it. I know the
- 7:14Speaker 4: Secretary of Treasury best ending, the Secretary of Commerce that
- 7:17Speaker 4: with Howard Laudneck. I mean, they're going to come up
- 7:19Speaker 4: with I mean, these are smart people that understand this
- 7:21Speaker 4: space really well.
- 7:23Speaker 5: Other assets. I know, we have bitcoin ethereum x or
- 7:25Speaker 5: p Salana Cardono that we're considered and brought up maybe
- 7:29Speaker 5: a part of the stockpile, right, are you guys considering
- 7:31Speaker 5: other crypto assets and with the ones that are in
- 7:34Speaker 5: those five what made you decide on those?
- 7:36Speaker 4: Well, first, I'll just say the reason that we structure
- 7:39Speaker 4: the SPR like we did is because Bitcoin is different,
- 7:41Speaker 4: It's unique, and so you know, we wanted to make
- 7:43Speaker 4: that distinction when we when we created Digital Assets National
- 7:46Speaker 4: Stockpile along with the SPR. You know, the reason that
- 7:49Speaker 4: those five tokens were listed or mentioned is truly just
- 7:53Speaker 4: based on market cap the five largest market gaps in
- 7:56Speaker 4: the space. But for us, we still want to welcome
- 7:59Speaker 4: and encurge innovation, uh with across you know, many ecosystems
- 8:03Speaker 4: in the space, and we understand that bitcoin is the grandfather.
- 8:06Speaker 4: We understand that it undergirds a lot of what's happening here.
- 8:10Speaker 4: But that's not to say that, you know, we don't
- 8:12Speaker 4: welcome these other players to continue to innovate buldun chain
- 8:15Speaker 4: and you know, create this new technology for Americans to
- 8:18Speaker 4: interact with and me we we're extremely supportive of that.
- 8:20Speaker 4: I think that's one reason why we wanted to mention
- 8:21Speaker 4: the Digital Assets actual stockpile and create that as well.
- 8:24Speaker 1: So could they go out and say, well, now that
- 8:27Speaker 1: we have a balanced budget or you know this this,
- 8:29Speaker 1: you know surplus of value, would we go right to
- 8:32Speaker 1: buying bitcoin. I can't see that they could sell that
- 8:36Speaker 1: to the American people. I think it's going to have
- 8:37Speaker 1: to be a budget neutral position, something where they save
- 8:40Speaker 1: money and they possibly could invest that way. I think
- 8:44Speaker 1: a lot of this is still going to dependent on
- 8:46Speaker 1: two things. One of course, is how well the market
- 8:49Speaker 1: does and during this tariff scenario that's playing out.
- 8:54Speaker 2: And number two is how well.
- 8:56Speaker 1: The market does once we see stable coin legislation start
- 8:59Speaker 1: to play out.
- 9:00Speaker 2: And this is something that's very interesting.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Stable cooin market cap reaches a historic milestone two hundred
- 9:05Speaker 1: and thirty billion people.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Okay, this is a number.
- 9:08Speaker 1: That to me is striking when you have a market
- 9:12Speaker 1: that is setting right now at just under a little
- 9:16Speaker 1: bit over two trillion dollars, very small market, not even
- 9:19Speaker 1: in comparison to gold yet. So the potential here for
- 9:23Speaker 1: stable coins going forward are really pretty dynamic. Couple of
- 9:28Speaker 1: tweets I want to hit on this is Matt Hogan.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Let me zoom in on that for you. He says,
- 9:32Speaker 1: I can't stop thinking about this, and this is a
- 9:33Speaker 1: reference to Scott Bessen's quote. It says we're going to
- 9:36Speaker 1: keep the US the dominant reserve currency in the world,
- 9:39Speaker 1: and were use stable coins to do it. So the
- 9:41Speaker 1: way that's going to work is stable coin companies, as
- 9:44Speaker 1: you guys know following our show, they way that they
- 9:46Speaker 1: back up a stable coin is usually through a US
- 9:48Speaker 1: Treasury purchase or some sort of US asset, and that
- 9:52Speaker 1: is the thing that plays out into this. If we
- 9:54Speaker 1: continue to see stable coins grow, there's going to be
- 9:57Speaker 1: more treasuries that are purchased, which will supp port the
- 10:00Speaker 1: US dollar. And if you look at the largest holders
- 10:04Speaker 1: right here, this was just a perplexity.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Quick look, Japan holds number one. They're not.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Let me kind of zoom in on that for you
- 10:11Speaker 1: guys a little bit so you can see it a
- 10:12Speaker 1: little bit better right there. All right, So Japan is
- 10:14Speaker 1: holding the top position right there on US Treasury's largest
- 10:17Speaker 1: foreign holder. Then you have China coming in second among
- 10:22Speaker 1: foreign countries. You got the UK holding in about seven
- 10:25Speaker 1: hund and twenty three these, I would say is very
- 10:27Speaker 1: on the friendly side as well as Japan. Luxembourg came
- 10:30Speaker 1: in and then look here a very interesting statement on
- 10:33Speaker 1: tether right there holding in at the number seventh position
- 10:39Speaker 1: on net buyers of US treasuries. Now, this is when
- 10:42Speaker 1: a market is depressed, all.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Coins are down.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Bitcoin has you know, basically re traced back down to
- 10:50Speaker 1: eighty k off of a one oh eight high.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Imagine where this goes in an agreement.
- 10:55Speaker 1: All that happened without any regulatory alignment. If we get
- 10:59Speaker 1: a stable coin bill, which according to Tom Emmer, we're
- 11:02Speaker 1: going to have very quickly. August is the deadline that
- 11:05Speaker 1: Trump is given to the House and the Senate to
- 11:07Speaker 1: get it done, and they've said they will get it
- 11:10Speaker 1: done without a doubt. Speaking of that, you've got to
- 11:12Speaker 1: look at what Swee is doing. Here's Walrus. So this
- 11:15Speaker 1: is big news on decentralized storage. I'll zoom in on that.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Wallace of course, is now a secure one hundred and
- 11:21Speaker 1: forty mili in fundraising. This is all being done to
- 11:25Speaker 1: essentially take over the storage concept of decentralized storage. And
- 11:29Speaker 1: now you guys know about file cooin and many others
- 11:32Speaker 1: that have really been holding this down for the last
- 11:35Speaker 1: few cycles. We is in the position right now that
- 11:39Speaker 1: they could actually start hosting rich media, et cetera. That
- 11:43Speaker 1: would be a real position of power for the Sweet network.
- 11:48Speaker 1: If this Walrus project becomes much more effective, and this
- 11:52Speaker 1: could really start to break a lot of things. And
- 11:54Speaker 1: of course you look at Cetus protocol, which is where
- 11:57Speaker 1: we'll see a lot of seas activity. But it's now
- 11:59Speaker 1: live on fans on one of the largest Web three wallets,
- 12:02Speaker 1: millions the phantom users. Now you can enjoy all these swaps,
- 12:05Speaker 1: all with liquidity coming off the Suite ecosystem right into
- 12:09Speaker 1: your fannem wallet. So that's another big, big, big point
- 12:12Speaker 1: for Suite. And bit Wise is also behind this, so
- 12:15Speaker 1: their CIO is very bullish on the DeFi space and
- 12:18Speaker 1: they see aptocin Suite as ETF contenders from the DeFi side.
- 12:23Speaker 1: And I had Matt Hogan on I think it was
- 12:25Speaker 1: last week, and I talked about this, the DeFi, the
- 12:28Speaker 1: looming DeFi innovation that's coming and could it become a
- 12:32Speaker 1: real competitor to ETFs. His answer was yeah, he saw
- 12:37Speaker 1: that much, and of course they're backing it up right there.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I'm kind of curious if do you feel like we
- 12:41Speaker 1: are still.
- 12:41Speaker 2: In a bull run?
- 12:43Speaker 1: Number one, let me know in the comments down below.
- 12:46Speaker 1: And number two, what's your strategy trading into this tariff
- 12:50Speaker 1: date that is looming April second. How would you play
- 12:54Speaker 1: between now and April second. Let me know in the
- 12:57Speaker 1: comments down below. Love to hear from you guys. If
- 12:58Speaker 1: you're not the Diamond Circle, get in on that, or
- 13:01Speaker 1: you can jump in and tell me that over on
- 13:03Speaker 1: the Telegram group. We use the same link down below
- 13:05Speaker 1: to get into that, and of course join me out
- 13:07Speaker 1: there on x at Paul Baron. We'll catch you next
- 13:09Speaker 1: time right here on Techpath
