- Aaron: Howdy, howdy, and welcome back to Run After Cast, the college football podcast. I am your illustrious host, Aaron, joined by my too charming co host, Brian Ryan: Hey guys. Aaron: and Chandler. Chandler: big vocat board. What's going on guys? Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: How are we doing? Aaron: Well, we just had four glorious days of college football, game after game after game. And now we are here to talk about it, which will probably take us till the clock runs to zero, and then we'll just ask for an extra second to be added so we can finish this one up. But before we get to it, normally we'd head over to the Reaction News Desk, but the Reaction News this week is. Everybody in the college football world was watching college football for almost a week. So we got nothing to report. So we're gonna hop straight Chandler: Okay. Aaron: into it. Talk about the games we watched, what did we see? What did we think? And how do we feel? Ryan: I know, this is so good. It's like I got to watch football weekend and our games are back on in like three or four days or something. It's just right back at it. Aaron: Yeah, yeah. I can be less productive again. Chandler: And NFL starts Ryan: Mm-hmm. Chandler: Wednesday, so we really only have one day of break before Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: more football, which is it's fantastic. Aaron: So to kick us off here, with the game recaps, let's start with one of the big games that we got early on in this four day streak. Go to Miami Stanford. Boys, what'd you think of this game? Chandler: lot of negativity for this game. I think Darien Mesah I was a little unsure how he would look. I thought he did pretty well at Duke, but I was just, you know, a few question marks. How he translate over. But he took over the game quickly. Five passing touchdowns. Malachi Toney went crazy with over 200 yards receiving. Aaron: insane. Chandler: It was insane to watch his like video game numbers. So shout out to that. I mean there's not a lot of negativity there at all. As the they didn't really make a lot of mistakes. They Whoop Stanford. I mean, that Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: wasn't close. I think that Miami's gonna be a problem for a lot of teams they play this year. and I think once they go to Notre Dame, that'll be a good test to see where they're actually at. but all in all, I mean it was a fun game to watch. It was like we were watching a like NCAA college football game. Ryan: Yeah, I think Malachi Toney looked incredible. And I'm gonna say it again, like Darien Mensah might win the Heisman. I'm not saying like he's the best player in the country, cause Jeremiah Smith is, but he's pretty incredible. and they don't really play anybody. Like Stanford's not a huge opponent, but he's also pretty good. So like he's gonna do things like put up four hundred yards. And when Malachi Tony's open every single play, it makes it pretty easy. Out of that game, one of the most things I got out of it was I was surprised how well Davis Warren did. That's it. I just think he did really good, even though they sucked really bad. Because he came from team up north and he couldn't throw the ball there. They him throw like eight times a game or something. Aaron: Yeah, this was one of those games that from the first couple minutes in, you're like, Miami looks great. I mean, Chandler agree. I I don't have a lot of critique. I would say if we got down to like the nitty gritty, the only thing we could say was there was a miscommunication on the O line, probably just a few nuts and bolts to tighten up there. But that's like to be absolutely high. Hardest level you can go nitpick on this because they played so well that that's all you can do with it. Toney is going to be a problem. Like for I would talked early on in our show where I was like, I'm so excited to watch him play. Because from last year to this year, it felt like he's had three years in between sometime. He he was in the hyperbolic chamber, like training or something, time dilation. He looked Incredible. I the way he was running, the thing that I think really shined is if you're watching him in his route, the way his hips move, he keeps his hips indicating where he's gonna go, as everybody'll on defense will tell you, you know, hips don't lie in there. And the way he can snap his footwork and his hips into a new direction, I think that's gonna throw anybody on a secondary that's watching him off. I think he's going to find a way. To get two, three steps on defenders all year. And they're gonna have to figure out an answer because on the outside, he's lethal. Crossing over on the inside, he's lethal. And then if you triple cover him, Mentz has got another target that also looks stable hand. Everything looked great. I I really don't want to be a defense that has to go up against Miami this year. Ryan: I will say the only negatives, Mark Fletcher wasn't quite as good as I was expecting him to be. And the D line was not quite as good as last year. But how could you when you had Ruben Bain and Hakim Mesador? Other than that though, I think they looked incredible. and yeah, your hips don't lie thing. I Shakira said that or something. But Malachi Tonis do lie. That's why he's so good. Aaron: Yeah, yeah. It and it really is impressive. And I think Fletcher, we're gonna see a lot out of him. I think Ryan: Yeah. Aaron: when we talked about like when people have pointed that out so far of like, well, why didn't we see Fletcher more? Why would you? because in Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: it would you hand off the ball or you can go throw it 30 yards downfield every play? You're fine. Ryan: I would throw it. Aaron: You're gonna take it. So I think when we do get some of those coverage options when we're going up against some really high level defenses. We'll see Fletcher coming in, you know, hitting a few yards each carry, you know, three, four yards and more. He seems like he's got it, but we're just gonna need more see more snaps out of him. And I think we will. But all in all, I don't think there's not much more we can say about it. I think we will definitely has have a Heisman contender from Miami this year. this is a this is a good point in the show that I have to set out my first formal apology for how much trash I talked about the ACC preseason because ACC showed up. Also Monster Twelve showed up this weekend. I was very impressed with the conferences that we have. talked nonstop negatively about. So admitting when we're wrong, which will be a few times this episode for me. Ryan: Something since you brought up the Heisman thing. I want to bring this up because I think this would be hilarious. I could totally see a world where the four people are Malachi Toney, Jeremiah Smith, Julian Sayin and Darien Minsa. That would be so funny. Aaron: Don't for don't forget Camario. He might make an appearance. Ryan: Well, you only get four though. Aaron: I know. Ryan: He looked incredible though. Okay, we Chandler: Mm-hmm. Ryan: gotta save that. Sorry. Wrong episode. Go to the next episode, guys. Aaron: He did. Well yeah, wait that go to the next episode. You'll hear us talk about Mississippi, Ohio I'm I'm gonna say the Bobcats, and Auburn. So no, no, we'll be talking about our teams in a separate episode this week because there's too much football to cover to cram it all into one. So moving on to the next game though. Talk Colorado Georgia Tech. Chandler: I mean, this was this was an electric start to the weekend. I remember we were playing PlayStation Ryan: It was, it was. Chandler: and we had this game up and it was like, wow, there's absolutely nothing happening. And then that last like two or three drives of the game where it was ten to seven, Georgia Tech marches down, Colorado stops him thirteen seven, then all of a sudden Colorado marches down the field, they score, go up fourteen thirteen, and then Georgia Tech drives down the field and then Colorado blocks it to seal it. I mean, that was So much fun to watch and I mean shout out to Colorado. They moved the ball well. They got told that they were small for that game and they had a whole lot of rushing yards that game. They were running the ball at will against Georgia Tech. So that's a cu Ryan: No, they listened to that speech. They listen to that speech again from that girl and they're like, yeah, we're g we' fired up. I thought it was electric. That was a great game to start the weekend. I also think I thought it was something like the Colorado quarterback was two for eleven on five plus yard throws going into like the last couple drives there. So that's not good. Georgia Tech not looking good. Alberto didn't show up. And you can't win a game not scoring a touchdown. Your offense didn't produce a touchdown. You only scored on the kickoff on like the first drive of the game or whatever. Dust the Tains didn't look good. He looked okay on the first drive and you like didn't see him until like the third quarter pretty much. So that that was bad. I love Colorado. I thought it was really fun. It's very electric. I kinda like Prime got a win under his belt. It was it was a fun game. Aaron: Yeah, I would say overall my takeaway from that game was I was just very disappointed in Georgia Tech. Like they have components. I don't know where the breakdown's happening, but it happened. And you know, not taking anything away from Colorado here, I do think they put forth an effort. They did make offensive moves to get that ball rolling, but Georgia Tech just seemed a little lost out there and I I don't have a particular point in like the talent to say there was the issue because they have the talent. I don't know if it's the defensive play calling. I don't know if it was I mean the defense definitely performed better than the offense because it just was not connecting. It just felt like everybody was on a different page. And hopefully we see them tighten it up because I I do think they have that kind of Talent on the roster could be very good, but whatever's going on right now, they're gonna get very little success this season until that's correct. Chandler: Well, for me it was a whenever they got into obvious passing situations, the second longs, the third and longs, when Colorado got pressure, I mean, Mr Baby Mendoza couldn't get it done. I mean he was he was panicking, no no downfield completions. There was it was it looked frantic whenever the pressure came. Granted, it is tough. Ryan: Mm-hmm. Chandler: I mean you're you're running for your life and trying to scan the field and trying to hit an open receiver. So I get it. But That was a key emphasis that when you get those second long, third and long, the obvious passing downs and you know the defensive line's pinning their ears back, they're coming back, they're getting after you. You've Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: gotta be able to, you know, step up in the pocket, elude out of the pocket, move the pocket and and get things done. Ryan: Yeah, yeah. I also thought it was funny that like you saw the Georgia Tech kicker walking on their field and he looked so stressed. And he's been in big moments before. He's right they blocked it like right into his chest. He's probably like, no, where'd this come you that was hilarious. I love that. Yeah. Did someone throw Chandler: Where in the world did this ball come from? I d I thought I just kicked this. Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Ryan: a ball at me? Like I just kicked it in the field goal. You know? Aaron: Yeah, but despite the outcome of the game for Georgia Tech, I will say there is something always exciting for a game clinching field goal kick block. Like just always incredible, such a strong emotion. But overall, fun game to watch. Like what a way to kick Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: it off. Like we're we're in the world of upset already. We're in we're getting in. Exciting last second play game. Great. Great kickoff for us. Now, let's go to a little less competitive of a game, but an important game to break down anyway. Talk Texas State, Texas. Chandler: I think this game turned out exactly how in my mind it would with Texas playing Texas State and Texas having all the firepower in the world on the offensive and defense side of the ball. I think they had a significant time converting on third downs when they needed to. I mean, they did a great job. The passing attack, the rushing attack, everything was well balanced. They had a lot of self inflicted wounds early, but they cleaned it up, obviously. They beat the brakes off Texas State. I don't think they had any problem at any point during the game. Slightly scared for next week. just because both teams played cupcake teams off the bat and I'm not really sure where we stand. And I know Texas can say the same thing regardless of the outcome of the game. You can have a lot of s false confidence in a game like that. And I so I'm I'm really curious. That's why I was excited for the week one game last year, 'cause you know really quickly where you stand. So now we have to wait a whole another week to see where we stand, so we'll see. But more to come in the episode again when we talk about it later with that game. But I think they I think Texas did what they needed to. The spread was what it should have been, if not more. The over under was kind of what's the word? Kind of disrespectful because of how many points they predicted Texas State to score. They obviously didn't do that. So, I mean, they handle business. They like they should. Ryan: I loved this game. This game though, I don't care if I'm wrong from now on. We always talk about picking our gut on our Thursday pick-'em episodes. This game, I was influenced too much by other people and by the spread to make it seem closer than it was. And even everyone in the comments was, no, Texas State's so good. They have the next who do they say? Did they say Jeff Levy? They said somebody. They have the yeah, he's Chandler: Yeah. Ryan: an extra Jeff Levy. They're gonna put up a ton of points. I was like, it's not happening. Even I was conservative on on the score. I thought it was great. Arch didn't have to warm up or anything. He looked good. They got Ryan Wingo going. Even Cam Coleman got like two touchdowns. I know one of them the guy fell down or whatever. But they they looked pretty good. They were firing everywhere. They're stopping Colin Simmons was getting back there. I kinda liked it for Texas. they looked they looked pretty solid. Chandler: Mm-hmm. Sure did. Aaron: Yeah. this is gonna be my second apology of the video was in my prediction, I had that that we'd need to see some off season rust get cleaned off of Arch. He came out firing right away. I I believe I had the score predicted like 38, 24, something around that. Something in there, they absolutely shut that down. They came out hot. The wingo connection, the Coleman connection got proven to be a good one. Arch looked very composed. The overall Texas firing, they looked very strong, very composed. Chandler, I agree. I could see it where looking at that, I wouldn't want them scheduled next week just for being able to rest easy. But I I I agree. I don't know if we have enough information to make a comparison point right now. Other than you know, the teams are firing. So, you know, shout out Texas out there. You know, y you said I was wrong, and I was. So other than that, it it still was a good game to watch. Like we still got to see them throwing the ball downfield, we got to see them just making plays. It might not have been a competitive game, but still well played. So Ryan: It's it's fun to watch a team dominate every here and there. Aaron: Yep. I can say that especially this week. But that'll be in the next episode. So let's kick it over to Alabama ECU. How did we feel about Alabama this year, boys? Chandler: See this segues perfectly into the whole false confidence narrative, right? 'Cause it looked like like Ryan was talking about before we started, Ryan Grubb looked like he could run the ball. They were getting a clicking. They had, you know, triple digit rushing yards. So that's good. Ryan: I think they had two hundred and something. Two hundred. He Chandler: Yeah, so Ryan: hasn't got that in a whole season before. Aaron: Hm. Chandler: So there's a lot of it looks like fixes that happen in the off season. Now again, when you go into your conference play, when you go into your little harder opponents, that's when that real test is gonna come. So I think all in all, just like Texas, they played really well. Alabama's defensive line looks great, got back there a ton, their secondary looked great, no questions there, didn't really have any questions before the season started. It's really just the rushing attack. Aaron: Yep. The rock game. Chandler: Kelon Russell looked fine. I think Aaron: Mm-hmm. Chandler: if Ryan Grubb can prove himself whenever they go into conference play and he can continue to run the ball and at least not have the defense in a situation to where they know you're passing the ball because you can't run the ball, then I think they'll be fine. So again, we'll see whenever conference play rolls around. Ryan: Yeah, and it's good to have a guy like Keelan. You know, I guess he does open the run game. He gives another kind of angle of attack there. So I think Alabama looked pretty good. Granted they played ECU. But Ryan Coleman Williams got his third a hundred yard receiving game ever. He now has more a hundred yard receiving games than he did last names. He went to this game having two of both. but the weirdest thing is that he's not wearing the gloves. He's just giving himself another excuse to drop the ball. Like last year after he got killed at the FSU game that he always jumps and Chandler: He had two drops. Ryan: try Yeah, he dropped the ball because he decided not to wear gloves this game. And even last year, he decided to make these weird things. He tries to contort his body and jump just in case he drops it that it looked like a super hard catch and it's okay to drop. And he even did that. One of his drops he had a weird he jumped weird, he was wide open. Dropped that one, dropped another bad one, didn't have the gloves on, but he got 130 yards. So kinda hit or miss. There was flashes. Keelon looked pretty good. I don't know, nothing too bad to say. Aaron: Yeah. And I I I will shout out here Deboer and Grub taking this opportunity to get snaps running the ball. If you know that's your key concern and you know this isn't going to be a down to the wire game, get experience. Get everybody firing on the same page by giving them snaps. So I thought that was a good game plan for I mean, we did see s a lot of rushing. So I think if you know, like I said, if you know it's your weakness. Give it time to develop. And they did that. They didn't go for a safe, soft plane of attack to give themselves a a good hype week one. They went in focused. So all in all, we'll see if that holds. We'll see if that is something that has improved. But I think we're gonna need a stronger test to really see it. So that'll be something in the next couple of weeks we'll be talking about for sure. But Since we're on this roll of one-sided blowout games, let's follow it up with one of probably the most impactful blowout game that we might even say resembled cupcake scores by the end. LSU Clemson. Chandler: I mean they were beating the brakes off them so bad that Lane Kiffin was shooting basketballs during the extra points. I mean, it was Ryan: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: a massacre. there is no team in the country that I'd be more scared to play than LSU based off of how they looked. I mean, they made Clemson look like they were a high school football team. They could run the ball, they could pass the ball, Sam Levitt was great running the ball and he got it clicking in the second half, throwing the ball. I mean, there was no negativity at all. They beat him by forty-one points. I mean, Clemson's Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: offensive line could not hold L S U's defensive line to save their lives. They were getting back there every play. Th th L SU's defense looks incredible. There's Aaron: It Yeah, it and we talked about it's like, well, we won't know more till they play, you know, a a little bit more of a competitive team. This is this is Clemson. I we know they haven't been at the highest of high. But defensively, Clemson has been on point. There's been issues, there's been some defensive play calling issues that we've seen. But in terms of talent, they have talent. And yes. Chandler: They've had to been good because their offense has not been. Yeah. Aaron: And I will give Levit a lot of credit here because he threw that early pick, like first drive of the game. Yeah. Chandler: Like second play? Yeah. Aaron: And I I had the prediction that if Clemson's defense gets in there and rattles him, like as we can see in somebody going into a new program, which this is kind of a whole rebuilt program, Levit stayed composed even when there was pressure on it. He was still eyeing plays, kept his eyes downfield when he had to. He got things with his legs. I mean, w e everybody had that question. Is Levitt the guy? You know, is this something where we just we picked by name and numbers and not what we're looking at? I think this answers it a little bit. As much as Lane has made it very difficult to root for him. I would say impossible to root for him. He has shown he knows what he's doing. this was a very, very impressive, very dominant performance that is now terrifying. If as an SEC fan, this is now a matchup that I'm worried about, which I was hoping that we'd see some faults that we'd have a chance. I don't know if we do. Ryan: I think this game looked exactly how I expected it to. I predicted it was gonna be a hundred to nothing. And Flimson ended up scoring one touchdown against the third stringers, LSU. So good good job, Dabo. but I think Sam Levitt is the truth. I know we were like he hasn't done anything yet. He was so good. He physically could not throw the ball the first half though, but he ran so well. And he didn't just run like a like a hard running, like gritty, white normal quarterback. He was fast. He was athletic. He was twitchy. Then the second half he came out. He was firing. And I like that Lane Kiffin is so calm with his quarterbacks. He doesn't freak out. He just goes over there. He's nice, relaxed, calm. And I think it kept him very composed. I think they ran the ball great. Their defense looked unstoppable. Like you literally they looked like a brick wall. It was incredible. And to be fair, Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Ryan: they played Clemson, but they looked incredible. The offensive play calling was there. Like It was it was so good. They were actually so dominant. I'd be terrified. Aaron: Yeah, that's another point to Levitt that you brought up that I think is important to put out. That first half, the passing game wasn't 100%. we could say far from it. But instead of doing what we see some people in a transfer situation, people in a new program do, where they try to force it to happen. He didn't. Instead of throwing bad balls just up in the air, if he didn't see it, he just took it for his legs for a couple yards. Or in a lot of cases, for a lot more than that. And I felt like that's the kind of composure that you need in a quarterback. Somebody that doesn't panic, somebody that isn't scrambling out of the pocket, just hoping something's open, throwing cross body, off balance, goes down, gets intercepted. It's something where he either got it done with his legs in that first half, and then once he saw the defense tiring, once they were gassed, he attacked. And then the pass game got better. and tighter. And I I think that was something that whether that was Levin on fields call or defensive coordinator call or quarterback coach, that's something that I think showed very high level mental playing early on, especially for a week one game. Ryan: Yeah, 'cause like first half, he literally just like could not throw the ball to somebody. So he went in there and he made an adjustment. And that's like one of the biggest parts of being an athlete is being able to make adjustments in crucial situations. And he did it. And I thought it was wonderful. Even Lane after the game, Lane's so cocky, but he was even Aaron: I know. Ryan: told the reporters you were walking away, Imagine if we have pro players shooting free throws on the sideline. Like it it was a massacre. I would not be happy if I was Dabo. Aaron: No. And I don't know if the Chandler: Okay. Aaron: Clemson fan base is gonna be happy with Dappo after that performance. Yep. Ryan: Mm. No. They thought that was gonna be a close game. A lot of people in the comments making fun of me. Aaron: Yep. Yep. I can't believe your zero to one hundred game prediction was closer than mine in terms of point differential. Ryan: And you what? I have another hundred to nothing on this next team we're gonna play, and it's Oklahoma against team up north next week. I'm gonna make a Ryan's a hundred to nothing pick of the week every week and say what team's gonna be a hundred to nothing. Aaron: Well, fans, tune in Thursday to hear Ryan's zero to one hundred pick of the week, which well this week you already know. So excitement's off on that one. But we'll we'll keep that in mind. He's gotta do a zero to one hundred each week. So that gives me a higher chance of winning. So I'm gonna lock him into that, pressure Ryan: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Aaron: him in the comments that he has to do it. but yes, Lane definitely took his opportunity to remind everybody that he's gonna throw shade and he's gonna say something controversial every chance he can get. The just imagine if we had pro pro players. I was like, he can't help himself. He can't help himself. He had to do it as he walked away. He came back to the mic just Ryan: Mm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Aaron: to say it. And I was like, that's a little funny. that it got me. Ryan: I have one more. And then into the game, he was saying, you know, we're gonna play w we need to like tighten things up. We're gonna play way better teams than Clemson and all this stuff. And the announcer asked him, talking about he I guess he had a like a a mock game that week, pretending to have Clemson's offense go against him. And they said, How did that mock game prepare you for this game? And his statement was that their team actually ended up scoring more points on them than Clipson did in the entire game. So that's all he said. He's just a cocky, arrogant little guy, but it's like that's so funny. Aaron: Yeah. Well, it might be hard to imagine that anything this week would be more controversial than a statement made by Lane Kiffin. But it happened. And it happened in the game we're gonna talk about next, which is Michigan versus Western Michigan. I know we got some comments about this one. I don't know if we have enough time to say all, but we'll just add more time if we need to. Chandler: Let me start with Aaron: Ha ha. Chandler: Michigan and Bryce Underwood are such a dog shit program that it is unbelievably crazy Aaron: Ha ha. Chandler: that you storm the field after some cheating one second add on scandal that we're operating in on a Mac team that you win thirteen to twelve where that Mac team didn't score a single touchdown in the game. It's it's g it was it was crazy. Ryan: Neither did you. But neither did you. gonna storm the field. Are you serious? Aaron: I w I will say Chandler: They did they did score a touchdown. They w score touchdown to win the game. Ryan: okay, well whatever. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: I'm talking about a real one. That one did count. Chandler: Yeah, one that actually counted Aaron: Yeah, yeah, one during that happened during regulation. Yeah. Chandler: during regulation. Yeah, yeah. Not not on sixty minutes and one second. Yeah. Unbelievable. And they Ryan: Cheating again. Cheatin' again. That's what you do. Chandler: looked atrocious across the board. I r I genuinely think that Oklahoma is gonna beat them by forty five points. It's it's unbelievable. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: A hundred. One hundred to nothing. Aaron: Yeah. No, I I couldn't believe this. I this is something where it's like so many times a season people say like games are rigged, like it the officiating crew has favorites and it's biased and it's like listen, we're all fans of the sport, we're passionate, things happen in games. This is insane. Like that fuels the narrative. This is like conspiracy theory territory for people. And they're right. There's no excusing this. There is nothing that anyone can say. The Big Ten can release their statements all they want about different clocks and you know solar rays that are coming down and hitting clocks and changing numbers. Whatever they want to say is not right because. They added an extra second to the game. It's pretty clear it didn't need to happen. Of anyone out there that's a Michigan fan, you can stand by whatever you want for it. The rest of the world, we can all sit here and agree that second shouldn't have been added back on. They should have lost that game. And then the cherry on the thing that had me cackling. The like I was gone was when Michigan fans stormed the field. That is the saddest. Storming the field, I think I can think of I I can't think of a a worse time than beating a Mac opponent by one point and what we can say is a undeserved extra down. Chandler: And at home you're storming the field. Unbelievable. Aaron: At home. It like it's nuts. Ryan: Okay, okay, okay. Chandler: And if we if we look at the past three years of Michigan's program, I mean it's a dumpster fire. You have scandals, you have Netflix documentaries coming out of a sign stealing scandal. You have coaches getting fired and charged of all kinds of different outrageous things that happened it within the program and with other assistants. I mean, from the top down, there's been like in the double digits of people arrested or fired from their program the past three years. On and now to cap it all off, we have them storming the field at home against a using Ryan's quote, a low tier Mac school. It's it's k it's insane. And I mean it it you c you kinda hate to have the whole narrative like, you know, it feels better whenever s your like rival is, you know, doing bad and like you just make yourself feel that much better. But like truthfully this is one of those situations where it's like It feels good to be an Ohio State fan because as a Michigan fan, like I couldn't imagine having any kind of positivity come out of this of any angle in the past Ryan: I will say, Chandler: three years. Ryan: I need to be an advocate here. I did see a clip of an on-field guy looking at the replay, and they had one second. But I'm gonna tell myself that's AI because I hate the team up north. Bryce Underwood is the most overhyped, overpaid player ever. He should have to pay them to do that to their own program. And you're a terrible program. You're a bunch of liar cheaters. I hate everything you stand for as a school. How could you support that school? You should get the death penalty and every win a national champion shipped shipped away from you ever. And I'm an Auburn fan. I have no tie to you. Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: I mean twelve million dollars twelve million dollars is crazy. Ryan: I have no tie to you. We beat you in 1983 in your face. Aaron: No, I will say the ACC implementing that like XFL inside the ref booth review should be standard across Chandler: Yes. Aaron: the board because that would put this all to rest. Like if we could see what they're monitoring, what they saw, you know, what they what that discussion was, that that's way better. I even if it's like one where they're sitting there and it's uninteresting where they're like, yep, he's out of bounds, like you can see right let's go ahead and mark it there. Like it's still better to have that transparency than to let things like this happen. Chandler: From the field view that we're watching, you cannot clearly tell where the ball crosses the out of bounds line and becomes uncatchable and deemed out of play to where that clock would stop and become one second versus zero seconds. Because you can catch the ball if you're out of bounds Aaron: No, I I agree. Ryan: Yeah yeah. The Chandler: and have your feet still in bounds. So I there's no clear way to see that line. Ryan: The TV clock showed zero. The one on TV Chandler: Yes. Ryan: showed zero. But they were claiming that even since the guy jumped out of bound and touched it, that technically he was out of bounds. The second he touched it, it was out of bounds. But even on the T V clock, it was zero. The the one on the field, I guess, they are saying it wasn't. And I saw a clip. Chandler: Yeah, I don't know. I'm gonna see I'm gonna need to see Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: some kind of side angle to where we can clearly see with the clock that that's touched. Aaron: And I think it's one of those things where when Ryan: I saw a clip sorry. Aaron: we have to overturn penalty or anything, when we are doing that, they talk about having like undisputable proof to be able to to overturn. The clock hit zero. I feel like to add time back on, that's a review. They're looking for it. I don't think they had enough to call it. I think it's something like it's insane. We could break this down a thousand times. It's gonna come down to the same conclusion. Chandler: My my last thing Aaron: They shouldn't have put it back on. Chandler: is regardless of the one second. If that's true and I'm just being a salty Ohio State fan, then let's take it one step forward and go, How in the world as Western Michigan's football program are we not stopping a Hail Mary? How are we not starting on the goal line? Same thing that happened in the Auburn game that he threw in the corner of the end zone. How in the world Ryan: Stop. Chandler: are we not working from the back forward and not letting anybody catch the ball on the goal line? Because guess what? You don't get any points if you don't catch it. So let's just not let them catch it. I understand it's Aaron: Yep. Yep. Chandler: a lot harder than that, but it it can't it there's no way. I would have zero defensive linemen and just have everybody back there. Maybe you have one guy back there. I don't know. Like it's it's unbelievable. I d I don't understand Aaron: Yep. Yep. Like kickoff return just across the line. Chandler: how there's so many of these kind of situations that happen. Aaron: Yeah. but it is Ryan: You typically don't want them to get past you though. Which is what happened in the Auburn game. But yeah, backwards forward. When you see that ball's not getting there, go up to the ball, high point that ball. Don't wait for it to touch the ground. He's laying on the ground with the ball. He's Chandler: Yes. I mean you only have fifty five yards. Yeah. Ryan: laying on the ground with the ball. Don't let him get to get on the ground with the ball. Get get it at eight feet. You're an athlete. Chandler: You only have fifty five yards to react that, Aaron: But Chandler: the ball's coming to me. I have about, I don't know, five seconds to, you know, get in position and and not let this guy catch the ball. Like there's only one person in that little circle that could have caught that ball. And there was like six Western Michigan players. Aaron: Well and honestly, even if it's a question, take the DPI. Like it it Chandler: Yes. Aaron: gives him another chance. But if you if you see it, it's in his hands, whatever you gotta do, whatever penalty needs to happen to stop that, you do it. Chandler: Yes. Aaron: I mean, Ryan: I said that too, Aaron: yeah. Ryan: because yeah, it's not like the NFL where they get the ball on the two yard line. It's just fifteen yards closer. And there's such a glob of people. Even if you just have some egregious like if you just have some kind of egregious pass interference, they're probably not even gonna call it. Like the one with old miss last year where they threw it to the back, he was obviously pass interference. He touched the ball and they're like, well, it's uncatchable, whatever. We're not even gonna call it. They don't care. Like West the Western team up north that probably stormed the field. Chandler: Yeah, there's like a hundred people in a pile. There's no there's no yeah. Ryan: Yeah. Just tackle him. Like it's I don't know. Aaron: But our hearts do go out to Western Michigan. They did win this game. Michigan might have it on the stat book. I think that's permanently an asterisk for anyone else that's not a Michigan fan. definitely, definitely controversial. People are gonna have takes. Michigan fans, I get that you're gonna have to defend this. I get it. if you leave a comment that says like we don't know what we're talking about, anything like that. I understand and I forgive you. So Ryan: Think I think they will defend it. This is one of the least bad things they've had to defend recently. So I think this will be Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: easy for them too. Aaron: Yeah, no one got hurt with this, so Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: it's it's not the worst. But it is something that the way it is, it's the way it's gonna be. Everybody's gonna react to this. It's gonna be what everybody talks about for the next week till the next set of games. So speaking of that, we should go ahead and move on to another game. An exciting game and a close game. Ryan: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Aaron: Let's go with Ole Miss Louva. Chandler: You know, I'm gonna start with saying that I'm happy that Lincoln Keynes is finding some, you know, success in the football field and at least got a chance to start. After being in a program for three years and you haven't worked your way up to a starting position, whether or not he's good enough to do it, irrelevant. For him having to be able to stay there in the NIL era and play and and just hope he like gets to play, kudos to him. Hats off to him for wanting to develop and hopefully get a chance on the field. I'm glad he jumped over senior year. And at least is having his time to get his feet wet and get some, you know, tape as a starter. And yeah, the first half didn't look very good. But like second half, he's a whole new player. And he had some he had some spurts and he looked good. So I think he can build on that and, you know, continue to grow and have a good little career at Louisville. But Old Miss inevitably won. I think it was closer than I thought. I predicted a thirty-one twenty four. I think all in all Best game. I I wanna say Colorado and Georgia Tech was just because of like how crazy it was. But I think this game, like, just because the sheer fact that I didn't really think Louisville can have a chance to actually win this game and to almost bring it down to overtime, I think Ole Miss, this this game takes the cake as the best game of the weekend. But it was it was a lot of fun to watch. Congrats to Old Miss. They played well. I I think I was expecting them to be more of like the Georgia offensive dominance last year in the playoff game where they just like every time they got the ball, they just Touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown. but who knows? That might start clicking. I know they lost a lot of offensive weapons, but all in all, good job. You got the win. Ryan: I'll start off by saying this game is closer than I thought. I apologize, Louisville. I know I called you a low tier ACC team. Everyone is getting mad in the comments. I meant to have a punctuation in there. Like low tier comma and you're an ACC team. Middle tier now. Good job. You have upgraded. yeah, the first half like you're talking about, nothing really happened. I know that they lost some offensive weapons on Ole Miss. And and that was expected. And we thought the defense would go down a little bit. But they just weren't really doing anything. Keywon wasn't really breaking loose. Trinidad was having trouble. He threw an interception early. He was having some trouble. But yeah, second half, they were going. The first half though, Lincoln Keyholes just physically could not throw the ball. He would shovel it to people. He looked really terrible. I'll say that. He looks a good quarterback though. I like him. I wanted him to succeed. He ran the ball amazing. Very physical, aggressive runner. I like to see guys that put their whole heart in it like in that. But then even Isaac Brown did great the whole game. But later in the second half, technically I know him and Trinidad both had 300 yards, but there was a lot of broken plays, a lot of broken coverages. They kept running that scheme where the outside receiver would run a curl and then they run a slot fade over him, he'd be wide open. I don't know why that was so bad for that corner on Ole Mitch. But they kept having that open. And it was like incredible. Every single thing that could go right for Louisville went right. Everything he could do, they're playing with their whole heart. You'd break five tackles. Skinner was carrying five guys on him, or he'd throw it to Isaac Brown and he'd make a bunch of people miss. And even Lincoln Keyholes, when he really had to do it, he made a couple throws, but that should be the bare minimum. When you have a guy wide open to broken coverage, you have to hit him every time. He missed one early that would be another touchdown. That would have flipped the game a lot. Trinidad also picked it up. He was hitting the guys. They looked a lot more dynamic. Deuce Alexander looked really good. He was making a lot of plays. I was kind of worried that they like took him into the to the back there in the tunnel for a little bit. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: But then they brought him back out and he played. So I guess he was fine. But at Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: the end of the day, it is kind of one of those things that like the better team and the better players just walk on the field. And even when you're watching, you just felt somehow, even though everything was going right for Louisville and their team was amped up, that somehow like Olmus was just gonna win the game because they were on the field and it happened. And I'm glad Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Ryan: their kicker made that field goal. I felt bad because he missed the one earlier. But it was fun to watch Louisville, you know. You like upsets sometimes. It it was fun Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: to watch all of them come together and be there on that field and have such a great time. And have such an electric game and success for linking keyholes. I felt bad he hasn't been to play for four years. Aaron: Yeah, after seeing him develop his confidence, like I because that's what I felt like was really the issue was just nerves that first half. Like he he was rushing passes, overthrowing, underthrowing. and the real shame of this is when he woke up in the second half, he looked fantastic. Like that second half was a completely different guy. and if he keeps going through that rest of that season, he's gonna have a great season. Louva lost that game due to discipline. That penalty after costly penalty after costly penalty. Ole Miss misses that Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: first kick where the one player runs in, runs into the kicker's legs. I agree, it probably shouldn't have been a 15 yarder, but doesn't matter because he still blatantly runs into the leg. He should have done everything in his power to get out of the way. He just kind of nonchalantly does it. We're seeing ki what was it? Nine penalties in the end. I did I it was so many Ryan: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Aaron: that I couldn't even keep track of them after a certain point. You can't win football games that way. And the fact that they Chandler: Mm-mm. Ryan: No, no, no. Aaron: kept it so close is a testament to what they were doing. I and I'm gonna give Ole Miss credit here. I shouldn't, because they don't deserve it. But I I do wanna be fair with my biases here. Not having Lacey. was an issue for them. That really hurt them in terms of having that call be able to keep the ball out of third down situations that they didn't want to be in. That hurt And that's something that we could say it oldness fans are going to point at it and their right to do so. That it would have been a much different game if Lacey was in there. I don't know if we're talking a blowout, but I don't think it would have come down to the opportunity to Almost had me be right. I've never wanted a kick to miss so bad. So I could have had my overtime call come true. I was so excited, but they pulled off that gas in that last defensive drive. They got a little too cautious with it. Chambliss is gonna be somebody who punishes you for that. You give him a simple 15-yard route to hit, he's gonna hit it. And I think Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: we'll have to see them come back together a little bit more. Chambliss still looks like the guy. He still looks good out there. I just think we have to get a little bit more communication going. And I think we're just going to have to tighten up a few things offensively for Ole Miss. I hope they don't. I hope everything goes wrong with their program. I hope their Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: training facilities get locked down. I hope nothing good happens for them ever. But me as a person commentating on the internet will say I still think there's a lot of Good that Olmus can do as a program. I think we'll see them get a lot stronger. And I hope that Lacey's able to return so they can really show us what they have in the tank there. But overall, fun game to watch. Ups and downs all over the place. Ryan: Mm-hmm. The second half was electric. Chandler: See to me Ryan: don't want him to really lock it down. Cause then you can't go steal their jerseys. But I digress. But Aaron: That's true. That's true. Ryan: I'm glad you brought up the penalty thing. I know Keywon like was a little banged up and kept playing. I don't know how much that affected him, but even when he was in, he wasn't as like electric as he was last year. He was still fine, but you expect him to be like super great. He was just like good, I guess, and then they took him out. But I'm glad he brought up the penalties thing. That was huge. Even early in the game. You go down there and this is like the difference between a good and a bad football team. When you go down there and you get a red zone and then you get a flag 'cause you have false start, you're just so fun ploding. You can't do that against a team like Ole Miss or anybody, even though they started off slow. Yeah, even at the end, you run in the kicker and then right after that they get unscore and you had number six Clark on defense on Louisville, he had an unsperson-like conduct penalty because he's just freaking out. You can't do that kind of stuff, especially when you have the momentum and offense that you're actually going and scoring, even if it is fluky, like I'm saying. That stuff is just holding you back. And that could be the difference between a few points and you win that game. Chandler: No, I mean I think it's it was more so not the fact that I just thought Ole Miss was gonna win because Louisville truthfully I mean, if they don't have those blow up self implosion penalties, if they had every chance in the world to win that game and they played Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: everyone. Chandler: like they should have won that game. If you take away the penalties, they are the cleaner football team that played, regardless of the fluky stuff that happened. So if you go down there, like Ryan said, and you have a running to the kicker, you have a roughing the passer out of bounds, that would have been a fourth down punt. You have all of your penalties when you're on the six yard line that backs you up and you have to take a field goal. I mean, there's all those kind of things that like you're almost beating yourselves. And that's like it was more the fact like in my head, like every time Louisville got to a spot where they were gonna score, I just was expecting a penalty to come because of how much that happened in that game and Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: with the self implosion. More so than I I thought that Old Miss was just gonna persevere and win the game. I just knew Louisville was gonna keep making mistakes because I felt like it was contagious. Ryan: Mm-hmm. Chandler: That every time they got to where they could score, they just started freaking out and figured like, I can't actually score. I have to have something happen and back this up. So I mean it was it was more so that for me, that like I just that was why I knew they were gonna lose because they kept having these stupid penalties. Aaron: Yeah, that seems like a sideline Chandler: Okay. Aaron: issue that they need to button up because they're a good program this year. I I I haven't really followed them that closely because I didn't follow the ACC that closely. Because, you know, I am the way I am. And it is something that like watching them play, I was like, there there's real potential here. Chandler: Agree. Aaron: when there's that avalanche of penalties. That is when the coaching staff on the sidelines needs to pull people together and lock things down. And we didn't have that addressed. I it you know it's happening right now. You know there is someone yelling very loudly. And they should be because that cannot happen again if they want to turn that season into what it should be for them. So, Louisville, you have a ton of potential this season. I want to see it out of you. That was a fun game to watch. I I want to see more of him out of it. Ryan: Yeah, and you have to stay level headed. You can't have a penalty every time something really good or really bad happens. It's almost like they're so excited they stop Trinidad. I'm just gonna shove them down out of bounds, out of excitement. Or something bad happens. Yeah, you run into the guy, you're just a little too aggressive, you're a little too mad and get an unsports like Honda. You can't do that. Pretty much nothing is just like neutral. Everything's good or bad. So every time good or bad something happens, you can't have a flag, you're gonna have a million flags. And they did. Aaron: Yeah. And they were ranked this year. So it is something where you can't really have that excuse of like, well, it's it's a huge upset or anything like that. It is something that like you have to keep your composure. And hopefully they will. Like I said, I I want to see more out of Chandler: And truthfully, Ole Miss was ranked high, like they were the teens. I mean I I think Louisville, based off how they played, regardless of how Ole Miss played, if we're gonna say Ole Miss is a teens ranked player team, Louisville deserves to be ranked Ryan: Nine. Chandler: where they were as well. Aaron: Yeah, I agree. I they they earn the ranking in this game. yeah. Ryan: Yeah. Ole Miss was nine. You should maybe Chandler: almost was nine, yeah. Okay, Ryan: move Ole Miss Chandler: well Ryan: back a couple and them up a couple. It was the fur it's I c keep thinking though, it feels like we've had football on for a couple of weeks now, but it is still a week one game. They were they were settling in and they settled in the second half. Yeah. Chandler: Yes. A lot of mistakes. Yep. Aaron: Yeah. But the penalties killed him. Chandler: And Louisville still playing toe to toe with them second half. So I mean it's Ryan: and and the snap over the guy's head. They said they had like nine new guys on the special teams or something, and and it showed they were very sloppy. Chandler: Yeah, they had a long XL snapper. It was not just a long snapper. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: Yeah. Extended barrel, sorry. Aaron: We'll see how that gets buttoned up as the season goes on. So keep us moving here. Let's check in with Indiana North Texas. How'd that game go for you, boys? Chandler: I think Indiana is the same as all the other teams that were ranked super high and played nobody. They did what they should. Kurt Sennetti's always gonna be a disciplined team like that he's shown in the past couple of years. I mean, they're not gonna make a lot of mistakes. I think the s highlight for me in that game was watching Josh Hoover get his like face ripped in half and his nose start bleeding and his face mask and his chin strap was all bloody and then very next play comes out and throws a dart in the back of the end zone and they score. That was pretty cool. I a lot of respect for him to come back in there. Football players are tough. I respect it. It was awesome to see. And then this camera zoomed in and it was like a war movie. Like he was like just blood Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: everywhere. Like he just threw a C in the back of the end zone. So that was really cool. But again, I mean they did their job. They beat him soundly. No worries during the game. Nothing that was a super crazy like I'd be really concerned if I was an Indiana fan. I mean no no devastatingly bad things that came up on tape. Ryan: Yeah. I thought it was great. Every year I just continue like Chris Signetti more. I like what he's doing there at Indiana. And you would be like I was I was excited to see how the run game would be. They run the ball really good last year. You know, they're missing out on him being black this year, so they have the new running backs and they still just ran the ball down their throat over and over and over. They didn't let Josh Hoover through that much, but he only had two incompletions. He looked dominant. And yeah, we treat QB's like they're this little protected thing a lot. Like they're their own little thing. They're not like a football player, almost like they're a kicker or something. But he showed a lot of toughness, you know? You got his nose broken. He's all dripping things, he throws a seed in there. And I was worried. I was like, why is Kurt Signetti going to get Josh Hoover? What does he see? But you know, he did it with Fernando, he did it with him. I know you're playing North Texas, but he looked really, really good. He and that is a coaching thing. He put the ball in harm's way a lot at TCU. You can fix that kind of stuff. He did it Indiana. I thought they looked great. Aaron: Yeah, I agree. And I think what we're seeing, like if we had our questions about Signetti, if anyone out there, because people like to talk about these things, we can see that it wasn't a fluke last year. It wasn't random, you know, these appearances, he's building a team, and I think everyone's favorite moment from that game is going to see a broken nose quarterback throwing a pass. But I think that tells us exactly what Signetti's building here. He's not building stats. He's building guys that want to play the ball more than anything else. Because breaking your nose and you know, you the blood looks great on TV. But that isn't gonna be the thing. It's the fact that your eyes are gonna be watering. You know, the pain, the swelling that happens. I mean, I broke my nose once or twice. It you know, it's not the worst thing to happen. But it's not something where I'm going to be able to concentrate and know my coverages, know routes real well. I'm going to be a little distracted. The fact he went out there and he kept his composure is an incredible statement. And I think, like I said, when you're looking at that, when Signetti's looking at guys on tape, everything like that, he's finding resiliency and that desire to play. And I think that's gonna pay off for him. I I think that's gonna lock Indiana in a position that keeps them at this level. So to be able to eye that, that takes talent in its own right. Ryan: And a lot of Signetis teams, ex including this one, like we're talking about, this is an example, toughness and discipline. He instills those in all his players and it's hard to beat a team that is tough and disciplined. Aaron: Yep. Yep. So That one was a clear cut. Go to one where I know we're gonna have a little bit more say. When we talk about Boys Estate in Oregon. Chandler: Okay. This game, shout out to Aaron. He was nail on the head. Sneaky game. I know the past couple meetings, they've played them really tight. But for some reason, like I say every year, Dan Lanning and Oregon, they have all the talent in the world that they could possibly have. And that somehow, some way like the pieces and parts just don't fit together quite right and they can't really make that run that they want to. But I just had some kind of false confidence again. I was like, they're just gonna they're gonna beat the breaks off Boise State. They to. They're just gonna have more talent on the field that it doesn't matter how they're coached, they are going to outperform them because they have more star power. But, I mean, Boise State ran the ball really well, forced a lot of turnovers, and when it mattered, they gave up a lot of chunk plays to allow Oregon to seal the game when it counted. So, I mean, you play. Three quarters, just so sound, so buttoned up, your defense was clicking, you were creating turnovers, you're running the ball well, keeping Oregon's defense on their toes, and then all of a sudden you're just giving lots of cushion, just letting chunk plays come down the field, Oregon scores. And that's what like that whole situation where Oregon like sealed the game and was taking advantage of those the the softer zones. That's what I expected the whole game. And again, first week, there's a lot of mistakes, there's a lot of Rust to be tuned off of because I understand spring, summer, fall camp, all that stuff is great. You're playing one on one with your team every day, but it's not a game live rep that you're gonna get with one of your twelve shots during the year in your regular season games. So it's gonna take you some time to, you know, get clicking for some teams. And I think Oregon might be one of those. But again, I don't know. I've been fooled more than once, so maybe they're just gonna do the same thing they always do. I don't know. Ryan: I hope not. I hate Oregon. You all suck. And Dante Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: Moore. Dante Moore, though, he did throw for a lot of yards, but this was his fourth game ever with 300 more passing yards. But he's the best quarterback that anyone's ever seen. And their defense is apparently the best defense in college football. I think they're still a good football team, but I think a lot of this hype and narrative, I don't know how it keeps getting so hyped up against Oregon. But yeah, they do have a lot of talent. They go by these guys, but I've never seen someone do less. With more than Dan Lanning has. He has everything as his disposal and he hasn't done anything. They've never won anything. And Boise State, they played a great game. But Oregon looked sloppy. They did not look like a good football team against Boise State. And I know they figured out how to pull it off in the end. But I hope this carries over for the rest of the year. I'm not even like trying to be mean, like personally, against Dante Moore. I just he's not like a Heisman guy. He's just good, you know. Chandler: Yeah, he he's not trying to be mean, but Oregon sucks, Dante Moore sucks, the whole program sucks. But he's not trying to be mean, guys. Don't take it like that. Those aren't mean words. Aaron: Yeah. It it is really hard to believe that I have received the most hate from Morgan fans on this show. Ryan gets Ryan: It sounds aggressive. Aaron: away with it. Ryan: I know it sounds aggressive. It's just how in the world are you gonna Chandler: What do you mean it sounds aggressive? Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: think you're gonna walk in there and the Nike guy's just gonna write you a bunch of checks to win a national championship? It doesn't work like that. I it works out in the video games. It's you know, this doesn't pay to win. You gotta do a lot more than that. And I'm glad that it's not working for them because it seems like it would work eventually. And I'm sorry, you know, I'm sorry. Chandler: He's not aggressive and mean though. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: I know, I'm sorry. I'm such a negative guy and I don't wanna put someone down all the time. I'm usually the positive, encouraging type of person. But like suddenly what Oregon just rubs me the wrong way. Y'all make me so Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: mad. I don't know what it is. I'm sorry. Aaron: Oregon fans, remember this next time you're leaving a comment. Target Teal. He deserves it. I because I will start this one off. This had to have been the clip that we have gotten flame for the hardest was my boise state prediction. What we like across platforms, what like over a hundred comments of people Ryan: Mm-hmm. Chandler: yeah. And then during the game they were quick. They were like, my gosh, this guy was spot on. Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: my gosh, this was actually right. my gosh, this is n like insane. Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Ryan: guy went Aaron: And Ryan: on TikTok and commented under every single comment twenty four twenty four twenty four twenty four twenty four twenty four 'cause it was a Aaron: I did. I saw it. Ryan: tied game. That was so funny. man. Aaron: I will say I'd like to be humble about it, but I did go on and like everybody that was giving the correction. but no, it is it is crazy that it came down so close to that the way I said it would. but no. I Ryan: I know what a call. What a call. Aaron: hey, my best one of the week, I think. but overall, I think Boise State did what A lot of teams that are going into a matchup like that need to pay attention to what Boise State does in this particular game. When you're going up against a team that has you, we can say beat on the talent roster. You can't beat them playing their game. You can't beat them with the the standard safe drive, the pass on first down, run on second down. See what you have left to develop your third down play. That's never gonna work. And Boise State came out swinging. And they went with more chaotic energy. Like they brought, like I said in the in the clip, they're scrappy. And when they got in there, they get under organ's skin. They they disrupt Organ from the ground up. So from the field to the sideline to the OC box. It is something where something organ cannot figure out what to do. And well, I don't want to say Oregon played terrible. Boise State played fantastic. Like, there, Ryan: Mm-hmm. Aaron: I'm sure there's a lot of things they could go back and change the outcome of that they'd want to. But overall, Boise State looked threatening. They came out strong. They they went with everything they had. And I I'm sad they didn't win that game because they put in the effort for it. Oregon did come out on top. They did have the more consistent play. I don't want to take that away from Oregon, but I do think it does put into question how dominant Oregon's going to be throughout the rest of the season. To be rattled like that is footage for other teams to use. Chandler: So my my Ryan: Okay. Chandler: one my one stacking point was like you said defensive line and defense in general, but mainly defensive line was supposed to be a elite top-tier defensive line. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: Mm-hmm. Chandler: And where Boise State beat them the most was how physical and effective their run game was. Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: And if they couldn't do that, they lose that game by fifty. So because they would have only had to throw the ball. But since Aaron: a hundred percent. Yep. Chandler: they could run the ball so efficiently and so aggressively, that was what kept Oregon off balance. And I think i Aaron: A hundred percent. Chandler: it exposed a lot of things. And again, we so we'll have the week one comparisons, a a lot it can change in a couple weeks. But if you're a team that's playing Oregon down the stretch, that's where you target because their defensive line had a lot of vulnerabilities and the rushing defense. Aaron: Yeah, straight up the gut. Ryan: I think you nailed that you nailed it on the head. They were supposed to be the best CI in the country. I think that's more of why I'm saying I don't like Oregon. I don't like these false narratives. You're supposed to be the best at everything, and you're still a good football Chandler: Well, they're not creating them. Ryan: team. You're still a good football team. But they're getting the buy-in, though. You're still a good football team. You are not a national championship-winning football team. And everyone's predicting them to win the national championship. You were just a good football team. Chandler: Oregon's not the one creating these narratives though. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: They're getting to buy in. They're getting to buy in. Chandler: And they're getting to buy in because of the money. Aaron: No, no. Yeah, it it is something it Ryan: That's true. That's true. Aaron: it's the same scenario about Arch Manning, you know, Lincoln Riley, all these. We do have a habit as fans and from the media side of creating these things, or the s hate for Nick Saban and these kind of things, when people do find that success, it hate naturally comes with it. And I don't want to say Oregon was playing with that mentality. They might have it in the locker room. I don't know. But if Boise State is punching you up the middle, four yards, three yards a play, that's that's gonna be tough when you're up against absolute elite opponents. And this is not to knock Boise State. Like I said, they played with heart, they played Ryan: Mm hmm. No, they played great. Yeah. Aaron: with soul, They put it out on that field. I loved it. I I am I'm gonna root for them for the rest of the year because I love to see that kind of play from a team. It's like I said, shame they didn't walk away with the W, but I think there's there are games that as a fandom, you still should be proud even if you didn't win. And that is one of them. That is one where in the books you went to number two organ to their house and played like that. Incredible. So Shout out Boise State. I don't want to tear Oregon down too much for it because I've seen what y'all do. don't come for me. Come for Ryan. but overall, it is it was an exciting game. It was electric to watch. I really enjoyed it. Probably I'm gonna put it there as my favorite game of the weekend, just because there was that back and forth, there's that hope, there's that underdog route for Boise State there that kept me in it the whole time. Chandler: Talking about fans being content with a loss is not how I would feel if I was a Rutgers fan. Because Aaron: yeah. Ryan: Yeah. Chandler: holy moly, this next game, the Rutgers and UMass, Ryan: Mm-hmm. Chandler: I mean, as a Big Ten fan, I think the Rutgers should be taken out of the Big Ten. I think they should maybe join the Mac. I I mean, I don't know where they should go, but that was an atrocious performance. on the football field. I mean they were a Ryan: Mm-hmm. Chandler: like twenty plus point favorite to win that game and Ryan: kidding. Chandler: That was the first time UMass has beaten a power four or five team since nineteen seventy eight and it was Boston College. So that is I mean, it's Ryan: Well. Chandler: incredibly bad that if you're a Rutgers fan, I mean Aaron: I I do think we should write a letter to the NCAA so we can make this an official rule or just go to our local judge, I guess. We can make that happen too. that if you lose to UMass as a powerful conference, you you're immediately removed. Like from whatever conference you're in. You just you have to leave and then you you Chandler: I mean Rutgers couldn't Aaron: get filled in. Chandler: they couldn't push the ball down the field more than fifteen yards. They it was no passing attack other than the short and middle middle of the road stuff. It was it was it was unbelievably bad to watch. It was incredible. Ryan: The only Aaron: I didn't even know it was allowed to let UMass win a football game. I thought it was against the rules. Ryan: Yeah, someone do something, someone call in. The only good Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: thing on Rutgers is KJ Duff. Chandler: Yeah, he got me a lot of fantasy points. Shout out to him. He scored all twenty one points. Aaron: Yeah. Yep. He sure did. Ryan: Other than that, you're the worst football team I have ever seen. Put with Clemson in a their own little conference server. Sorry. That would take away from what LSU did to Clemson. Chandler: Clemson would wax the floor with Rutgers. Ryan: They would. They would probably win a hundred and nothing. Aaron: So I can't think of another P4 conference team right now. Chandler: I mean Mississippi State could go toe to toe with Rutgers, maybe. I don't I mean, I don't know. No, Aaron: Oi, oi. Ryan: Dude, they would win a hundred and nothing. Chandler: Camario would have a thousand yards all purpose. Aaron: yeah. Every pass would be in the end zone. but that's next episode. Chandler: it was unbelievable. It was it was horrible. Ryan: Bryce Underwood would look good against Rucker. Chandler: Mm. Stretch. Aaron: Yeah. Ryan: that's yeah, it's too much, sorry. I went too overboard. Chandler: He may be worth twelve million dollars, but Ryan: I wouldn't say worth Aaron: yeah. Ryan: I don't say it it was worth it to give him twelve million dollars. Chandler: No, he is the smartest collegiate athlete of all time for scamming the scammers into a twelve million dollar deal. Ryan: He fits in perfectly. He is a scammer. That you're right. He scammed his own scam that's so good. Chandler: Okay, that's all I have for y for records. I apologize, guys. Aaron: Yeah, I I I what else do we have to say, but shame. Shame. sorry, Rutgers fans, that you have to endure this for the rest of the season. yeah, yeah. Ryan: Yeah. Chandler: Horrible. Horrible. No, I mean but th they already understand. Like it's like it there's no Ryan: Sars. Chandler: goodness that came out of it other than K J Duff somehow is still on the Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: team. Aaron: Yep. Yep. And and helped you beat me this week in fantasy this week. So Chandler: And he got me a lot of fantasy points. Yep. Shout out to KJ Duff. Appreciate that, brother. Ryan: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Chandler: Keep doing great things. Aaron: You know, we can say right now, UMass going to the playoffs. going all the way. They're a contender. So let's move to a team that is actually a contender for the playoffs. Let's go Notre Dame, Wisconsin. What do you boys think about this game? Chandler: Okay. This is I think Yes, I think this is a Ryan: Started off close. Then he took it away. Chandler: perfect example of a week one like Russ knocking off, like what in the world's happening? Our offense isn't clicking, our defense is holding us in this game. Like, why is our offense not doing anything? I think this was a perfect example of that because it was within a touchdown going into halftime, and then Notre Dame, you click back and click back to the game, and then all of a sudden they're up by like fifty. So I mean final score being what forty one thirteen. I mean they box score is not gonna show what happened in the first half, but it looked clean halftime on. I think Notre Dame Aaron: Yeah. Chandler: found their stride. I mean, there's nothing I would be worried about as a Notre Dame fan because they made the adjustments necessary. And it's not like they're playing UMass. So, I mean, they got it done. Aaron: Absolutely. And like I do think a lot of people are gonna attack that first half for Notre Dame, but it is so important to keep that context of week one. Like sometimes things just don't fire the way you envisioned them. The fact Freeman takes the boys back into the locker room, comes back out, and they're a completely composed, reliable team. Things come back, everything's firing the way it should be. I I think that first half completely forgiven. at that point like showing that this can all come back together. I think that's how we see them next week. And I think that's how they come out. I think that's how we see them the rest of the season. I think if we take that second half performance and look at it, I don't think we're seeing overhype here. I I think we are seeing a very, very strong football team. Ryan: Mm. And like I said in the pre thing, Wisconsin's not a pushover. They really did their best and they were in there for a while. Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. And credit to Wisconsin for that. Yeah. Chandler: No, Luke Fickle always has the defense styled up. I mean that's where we got old Christian Ryan: Yeah, yeah. Unless it's the second half. Chandler: Allegro from. He's a they they've always had a hard nose defense. But they can only stay on the field and keep you in the games for so long. Aaron: Yep. Ryan: Yeah. Aaron: Yep. And that is something we see time and time again in those games where you have a defense that is firing, that everything's going right, but then the offense isn't carrying their side of the ball to the same effect. So the defense is out, you know, 80% of the time. And you're Chandler: Mm-hmm. Aaron: gonna get gassed. Like if mistakes happen, you're gonna be beat on routes. The line push is not gonna be as strong. Yeah, I I can't blame a defense for that happening because if they're out there, there's just no way to keep up. If your offense is not giving you a breather on the sideline. But all in all, if Notre Dame keeps up that second half, I I do think we'll see them in the playoffs. I I think they will play very, very well. everything looked the way it should. Chandler: A lot would have to go wrong for them not to be in the aud yeah, the automatic bid playoffs. Ryan: Well, they'll be in the playoffs. They only play one more game. Sorry, keep going. Yeah. Aaron: Yeah. Yep. But there was also a lot of other games that went down. I know I had like at any given time I had two games up that I'm watching side by side. It was great to see them all. I had so much fun. We just don't have time to talk about every single game and break them all down. because we only have so much time, and you only have so much patience and free time to listen. So those were the games we thought had a lot of Either playoff, end of season, contention to them, importance, things to talk about. So we wanted to highlight those, the teams that still played amazing games outside of it. You know, shout outs to them, shoutouts to the fan bases. It's great to watch. You might notice three obvious exemptions from that list, which would be Ohio State, Auburn, and Mississippi State, because we knew we couldn't talk about them the way we wanted to. In the time frame we had, we wanted to give these other teams some time to shine. So check out this week's second episode that we'll be dropping for our thoughts on our teams. So as always, thanks for tuning in.
