- 0:08Speaker 1: Sunday Morning Dribblers. We're recording this time. You are at
- 0:10Speaker 1: No Dribble. It is ridiculously early on a Sunday, but
- 0:13Speaker 1: we've had to get together in the same room, so
- 0:16Speaker 1: Catherine said, wake me up before you go and go.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I'll bring the pastries. Here we are in the same room,
- 0:20Speaker 1: No Dribble Strappy, Hello and welcome to No Dribble, the
- 0:36Speaker 1: podcast where we talk about network, we talk about so
- 0:38Speaker 1: much more. My name's Carol and Swindell And for once,
- 0:42Speaker 1: I'm elbow to elbow with my two friends and.
- 0:45Speaker 2: I don't want to go second because we've got a
- 0:47Speaker 2: special guest in the house, so you have to do
- 0:49Speaker 2: it today.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Who's a special guest? Is there somebody coming?
- 0:53Speaker 2: Hi?
- 0:54Speaker 4: It's Liza and I'm in the middle of these two
- 0:56Speaker 4: crazy kids.
- 0:57Speaker 3: It's very exciting, isn't it?
- 0:59Speaker 2: And I'm cut It's a swindle cock sandwich. How do
- 1:02Speaker 2: you feel about that?
- 1:03Speaker 4: Isn't it an Eli sandwich? Because I'm in the middle.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Like you, Yeah, you are the sandwich. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:09Speaker 2: I'd say you're a ham sandwich.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Right, category I believe, I don't think it's one of
- 1:19Speaker 1: the highest traffic categories. Is in Sydney, so we get
- 1:24Speaker 1: to have her here. So we thought we would try
- 1:26Speaker 1: to record today because you're here.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Why are you here?
- 1:29Speaker 4: I'm here because there's a performance curve at netball centrals
- 1:34Speaker 4: for all of the academy teams.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Jazz hands performance.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Yeah, no, and you know what, there's not a there's
- 1:39Speaker 4: not a skirk of makeup inside that I've had to apply,
- 1:42Speaker 4: which is good about the kids. There's a little bit
- 1:45Speaker 4: of makeup, but not much. They're fourteen, so they're all
- 1:47Speaker 4: going very nicely. So yeah, so Evelyn's in the North
- 1:51Speaker 4: Coast Academy of Sports team.
- 1:52Speaker 3: So we're down.
- 1:53Speaker 2: And so when you say all the academies, how many
- 1:55Speaker 2: kids are there? Oh, there's hundreds, thousands, No, okay, there's hundreds.
- 2:00Speaker 4: So there's like there's Sydney Academy, Western Sydney Academy, Northern
- 2:04Speaker 4: Inland Academy, North Coast Academy, Southwest Sydney Academy, there's Far
- 2:08Speaker 4: West Academy.
- 2:09Speaker 2: There's cavees of academies.
- 2:11Speaker 1: And they catch me up here as someone who never
- 2:14Speaker 1: got out of sort of did three club netball academy.
- 2:17Speaker 2: What's the academy?
- 2:18Speaker 4: So it wasn't around when we were coming through was it.
- 2:22Speaker 4: I went to New South, So there's New South Institute
- 2:24Speaker 4: of Sport, yes, and these academies sit underneath it and
- 2:28Speaker 4: they're local so they pick up kids. So our academy
- 2:31Speaker 4: is kids from I think Coffs Harbor to Tweed yep.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I don't know if we have Port mcquarie as well,
- 2:38Speaker 2: but anyway, I should know.
- 2:39Speaker 3: There's so much I don't know.
- 2:40Speaker 4: And so and then like there's Sydney Academy, which is
- 2:43Speaker 4: I think like from Cherrybrook to the Eastern suburbs and
- 2:46Speaker 4: they've got like, I think seventy eight teams here we've
- 2:48Speaker 4: got took four whatever. But still so there's all But
- 2:53Speaker 4: you know, it's amazing though I know about you, Catherine,
- 2:55Speaker 4: turn up to these things and I look at these
- 2:57Speaker 4: kids and they're amazing. And I was watching Evelyn's first
- 3:00Speaker 4: game this morning and the goalkeeper in evalence Team Ruby
- 3:03Speaker 4: is spectacular. And then they were playing against Western Region,
- 3:09Speaker 4: which is like Bathist Orange, and their goalkeeper was spectacular.
- 3:11Speaker 2: It was a goalkeeper thought, and I'm like, how did
- 3:14Speaker 2: I get You've got It's a very blind eye though,
- 3:17Speaker 2: the blinkers on when it comes to the great goal shooters.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Listen to you, I haven't seen a goal shooter. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:23Speaker 3: I haven't seen any goal shooter.
- 3:25Speaker 4: I mean there was a couple of centa course running around,
- 3:27Speaker 4: but I was watching them. I was going, how did
- 3:29Speaker 4: we get through? Like where were gumbies at that age?
- 3:32Speaker 4: These kids are amazing. So anyway, so it's been a
- 3:36Speaker 4: good weekend. Yesterday was all training, but I actually went
- 3:41Speaker 4: through the list of all the people who were there
- 3:43Speaker 4: to coach and I said to Evlin, I'll go and say
- 3:46Speaker 4: hello to her. She goes, she's my old teammate. Don't
- 3:49Speaker 4: go and say hello to her? Why not because she
- 3:51Speaker 4: coached me? And I was a bit naughty. Don't telling
- 3:53Speaker 4: my kids. Later I was going through the list and
- 3:57Speaker 4: everyone goes, how about I don't tell anyone and I'm
- 4:00Speaker 4: your daughter, just to be safe, And I'm like, do
- 4:01Speaker 4: you know what, that's a really excellent decision. So anyway,
- 4:04Speaker 4: she had had a great day yesterday. They did a
- 4:06Speaker 4: fitness testing and a heap of on court stuff. But
- 4:08Speaker 4: what I loved was that they got some chats from
- 4:11Speaker 4: some athletes. So Ali Miller, who played for the Firebirds,
- 4:15Speaker 4: she talked to them about making sure that you balance
- 4:17Speaker 4: up your life and you focus on your study. Because
- 4:20Speaker 4: she played some super netball games but is not playing
- 4:22Speaker 4: super netball anymore. So she's like, you've got to make
- 4:24Speaker 4: sure you've got something else going on in your life,
- 4:27Speaker 4: which is really good advice. And then everyone came out
- 4:30Speaker 4: raving about Joe Harton and loved her and was like, oh,
- 4:35Speaker 4: she told us how to do this, And I'm thinking
- 4:36Speaker 4: to myself, I could have told you that, but she's
- 4:38Speaker 4: never asked me. She's not interested in what I can
- 4:40Speaker 4: tell you. She had to hear all of that from Joe,
- 4:43Speaker 4: and she probably got much better actually than what I
- 4:44Speaker 4: could tell her from Joe. So it was just great
- 4:46Speaker 4: that these ex players were there talking to them and
- 4:50Speaker 4: like the advice. And it was interesting because Joe Evylyn
- 4:54Speaker 4: took a notepad because the last time they came down,
- 4:56Speaker 4: she didn't write notes, and she wanted to so because
- 4:58Speaker 4: she's a nerd like a mother, but she wrote all
- 5:00Speaker 4: this stuff.
- 5:01Speaker 3: And I thought, all this stuff.
- 5:02Speaker 4: That Joe talked about about you being the CEO of
- 5:05Speaker 4: your own performance and even though it's hold her in
- 5:09Speaker 4: bead for every other part of her life. And yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 4: and I often think that, you know when occasionally I'll
- 5:14Speaker 4: get emails from parents saying, oh, my daughter didn't get
- 5:17Speaker 4: into her Underfoorneen's repped teams.
- 5:19Speaker 3: She's really disappointed. What can I tell her?
- 5:20Speaker 4: I always go back and say tell her not to
- 5:22Speaker 4: give up, tell her to go back and do the work,
- 5:24Speaker 4: because there's always next year and if she doesn't get in,
- 5:26Speaker 4: she's learned how to do the work, the skills that
- 5:28Speaker 4: you pick up.
- 5:29Speaker 3: So but it's been great.
- 5:30Speaker 4: It's been great watching these kids or Yester. They're all
- 5:33Speaker 4: mixed up in different groups, so just see them getting
- 5:35Speaker 4: to know each other, but also catching up with people who,
- 5:40Speaker 4: like you know, who you haven't seen for a while.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Well that's what I was going to ask you. But
- 5:45Speaker 2: the chair now of Netble Australia walks into a place
- 5:47Speaker 2: like that when there's that many kids but also parents
- 5:51Speaker 2: that are our vintigtion. Let's be honest, how much you
- 5:54Speaker 2: get annoyed by people coming over?
- 5:56Speaker 1: Like?
- 5:56Speaker 2: Does that is that constant? Nah? May?
- 5:58Speaker 4: Because I hide she's.
- 6:01Speaker 2: In the corner with the sunglasses and the hat.
- 6:03Speaker 4: All right. Yesterday I went and hit up in the
- 6:05Speaker 4: Swift's officers. I got Bridey to let me in and
- 6:08Speaker 4: I just did a hate for work. Well, parents weren't
- 6:09Speaker 4: allowed there yesterday and then this morning. That's fine, Actually
- 6:13Speaker 4: I don't really because everyone's there just watching their kids.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Yeah, so I've got an eye on you.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Oh that they might, but I mean, I don't know.
- 6:18Speaker 4: I try not to pick my nose so people can say,
- 6:20Speaker 4: you know, you even know where that'll end up.
- 6:22Speaker 3: But you know, my.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Cousin's there today with her daughter, and a few other
- 6:26Speaker 4: people I know are there with their kids, so like,
- 6:30Speaker 4: I speak to them, but everyone's pretty focused on their kids,
- 6:33Speaker 4: and everyone's just very friendly to me. I just think
- 6:35Speaker 4: everyone's nice because they will say hello to me.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I guess too. There's probably an element for you. This
- 6:41Speaker 1: is Evelyn's thing, isn't it.
- 6:42Speaker 2: So you've got to.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Let her have her absolutely and her mother in that Yeah,
- 6:46Speaker 1: she's not your daughter in that space your mother.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 6:49Speaker 4: And I don't want to overwhelm her or so I
- 6:51Speaker 4: just sneak in and watch her game, and I don't
- 6:54Speaker 4: go and fawn over her afterwards, as much as I
- 6:56Speaker 4: want to.
- 6:57Speaker 3: I just let her go. Anyway. She did send me
- 6:58Speaker 3: a message.
- 6:59Speaker 4: I've left this morning and she's playing and the parents
- 7:01Speaker 4: are allowed to watch and I tit her. I missed
- 7:03Speaker 4: a couple of games with this, and she sent me
- 7:04Speaker 4: a message and said, enjoy your radio play date.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Thank you beautiful.
- 7:11Speaker 1: So I just want to rewind a little bit. You
- 7:13Speaker 1: said at that age we were gumbies, we wouldn't have
- 7:15Speaker 1: got into which I think is probably ridiculous false modesty.
- 7:19Speaker 2: But I do know it's more like.
- 7:22Speaker 3: You should accurate.
- 7:24Speaker 1: So at what age do you go from being a
- 7:28Speaker 1: gumby to I think?
- 7:30Speaker 2: I don't think there's a point you're stopping a gumby.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I could still trip over my feet, but you get
- 7:35Speaker 2: you start to get it. And do you know what?
- 7:37Speaker 2: You are? My inspiration to Harper all the time, because.
- 7:40Speaker 5: I'll ever know that you're her here, she should be
- 7:44Speaker 5: nicer to me then, But Alex, can you play that properly?
- 8:05Speaker 2: No? But because Harper is a gummy, you know that
- 8:08Speaker 2: if anyone's gonna hurt anyone, it's her hurting someone else
- 8:11Speaker 2: or herself. But when she plays keeper, for whatever reason,
- 8:15Speaker 2: it works, she gets it. And I keep saying Annie
- 8:17Speaker 2: Liss is like that. You've got Arnie Liz in a
- 8:20Speaker 2: drill trying to do any sort of attacking work, and
- 8:22Speaker 2: she will stuff it up, like she just is such
- 8:25Speaker 2: a gun in defense and it's like this, I don't know,
- 8:28Speaker 2: it's it's kind of we can see the matrix.
- 8:33Speaker 4: But then if like if I'm in a cone drill
- 8:36Speaker 4: like you know, Jim VICKI roberts.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 4: So she was this gun netballer and she eventually left
- 8:42Speaker 4: netball and she rode for Australia and she was.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Rode on a bike pony, no road road.
- 8:50Speaker 3: She was a rower.
- 8:51Speaker 4: She I have never seen a player look as good
- 8:54Speaker 4: as her in cone drills, and she was a bit
- 8:56Speaker 4: younger than me, and I used to think, why can't
- 8:59Speaker 4: I look that good? Like I'm austral team and I
- 9:01Speaker 4: can't look as I've never seen anyone before or since
- 9:03Speaker 4: look as good as she looked in phone drills. And
- 9:05Speaker 4: I just could never get it. But then the moment
- 9:07Speaker 4: I stepped on cord, I was like, oh, I see
- 9:08Speaker 4: it all now it's fine. And then I get off caught.
- 9:10Speaker 4: Like today, I was going down the stairs in Netball
- 9:12Speaker 4: Central and I missed the bottom step.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Oh god, I hold out, I saw that's what.
- 9:19Speaker 4: And I went to sat down to watch hamirpl and
- 9:21Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, my back saw and.
- 9:26Speaker 3: Was a ball, and I'm like, oh, yeah, no, I'm
- 9:28Speaker 3: not missing anything.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Well, when I drive up to pick you up at
- 9:31Speaker 1: Netball Central, you're standing out the front and all of
- 9:33Speaker 1: the parking's been blocked off, so it's just you and
- 9:37Speaker 1: all this open space, and the breeze is blowing, and
- 9:39Speaker 1: your hair's blowing and your dress is blowing bag And
- 9:42Speaker 1: I thought Ellis is doing like a commercial ball.
- 9:45Speaker 2: You know, me and my model looks that only happens
- 9:47Speaker 2: outside netball stadiums. When she's anywhere else, the wind blows
- 9:52Speaker 2: the other way.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Her wind blows my dress up over my face. Anyway,
- 9:57Speaker 4: But you know, it is interesting like at fourteen. At fourteen,
- 10:02Speaker 4: I didn't know when you when you were fourteen, but
- 10:03Speaker 4: I can't imagine you.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Were going to be Central.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Yeah, it's funny, isn't it. Then I look at some
- 10:08Speaker 4: of these kids like, oh god, just so good. But
- 10:11Speaker 4: the game has Actually, I think the game at fourteen
- 10:13Speaker 4: is so much more physical and faster than it was
- 10:16Speaker 4: when we played. Anyway, it's been really nice. I loved
- 10:18Speaker 4: just sitting there and watching it. It's a good standard
- 10:20Speaker 4: netball to watch. It's enjoyable, and you get to.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Come to Sitney and hang up.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right, and Catherine has rewarded us all with
- 10:26Speaker 1: bait gooods this morning, so thank you very much.
- 10:28Speaker 2: How quickly did we how into those like behemas, It
- 10:30Speaker 2: was like it was a race. Yeah, not a single
- 10:33Speaker 2: shoe was to be happing, Liz, I didn't even get
- 10:35Speaker 2: cutlery out, picked it up and hold into it. It's
- 10:39Speaker 2: for sharing anyway, so I have to I went.
- 10:43Speaker 1: To I met some people on Friday night, friends of friends,
- 10:45Speaker 1: and when this woman found out I was involved in netball,
- 10:48Speaker 1: and I said, that's really probably overstating what I do.
- 10:50Speaker 1: But she was telling me her twenty four year old
- 10:53Speaker 1: daughter was playing a game recently and she was playing
- 10:58Speaker 1: wing defense and the wing attack called the cops on it,
- 11:04Speaker 1: called the cops on thee for something that the umpires
- 11:08Speaker 1: didn't call on court, so the police had everyone had
- 11:11Speaker 1: to wait and the police had to come down and
- 11:13Speaker 1: talk to everyone. And the police talked to everyone and
- 11:15Speaker 1: then went, you're nothing to see here, but who are embarrassing?
- 11:21Speaker 2: Is that like a time umpire you run off and
- 11:23Speaker 2: get your phone and actually make the phone call all.
- 11:25Speaker 3: The situa photo of that.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know clearly I've got one side of
- 11:29Speaker 1: this story. But the only side of a story I
- 11:31Speaker 1: need to hear is that there was a netball game
- 11:33Speaker 1: where there was no ambulance, there was no bleeding, there
- 11:36Speaker 1: was no you know, and someone better call the cops. Yeah,
- 11:40Speaker 1: well you'd assume there's no punching on because the umpires
- 11:43Speaker 1: didn't call anything. And then in the end the cops
- 11:45Speaker 1: spoke to everyone and went, yeah, probably just a Aaron
- 11:49Speaker 1: elbow or something, and the police are for Yeah.
- 11:53Speaker 2: I might have been to meet you in the car
- 11:54Speaker 2: park after the game situation.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Well, there's a the comp the comp dot has been
- 12:00Speaker 1: playing it that that now wrapped up because all the
- 12:02Speaker 1: everyone's dispersed because they've started high school. But it's still
- 12:05Speaker 1: going on the under twelves. Last week there were fathers saying,
- 12:09Speaker 1: we're going to take this out to the carpet.
- 12:11Speaker 2: No.
- 12:13Speaker 4: No, So I see that happen in other sports, and
- 12:14Speaker 4: I get a bit smart.
- 12:15Speaker 2: It wouldn't happen in netball.
- 12:17Speaker 4: Please don't let it happen in netwall.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, it's just it's just like, it's just sport.
- 12:24Speaker 4: Right. So the other night everyone was umpiring at an
- 12:27Speaker 4: indoor match and a local indoor match and at the
- 12:31Speaker 4: end of and there was a couple of players on
- 12:33Speaker 4: this one team who were absolutely giving her who's fourteen,
- 12:36Speaker 4: and the other umpire who's sixteen and appisling. They were
- 12:39Speaker 4: saying things to them, and how old are these players? Oh,
- 12:42Speaker 4: they're women, right, they're grown they're grown ups, right, So
- 12:46Speaker 4: I mean they're not as old as us, but they're
- 12:48Speaker 4: like sort of in their twenties and thirties. And they
- 12:50Speaker 4: were saying stuff to the girls. And at the end
- 12:52Speaker 4: of the game, one of them walked up to Evelyn
- 12:54Speaker 4: and said, the next time you umpire.
- 12:56Speaker 3: You better be you better be better, you better improve.
- 13:00Speaker 3: So I had no.
- 13:00Speaker 4: Idea because everyone didn't come home upset because thankfully she
- 13:05Speaker 4: just went the idiots, I got it and to her
- 13:09Speaker 4: to their absolute credit, Like local netball associations are generally
- 13:13Speaker 4: fantastic at this the umpire's coordinator rang me and said,
- 13:16Speaker 4: is everyone okay?
- 13:17Speaker 3: I said, I don't know.
- 13:21Speaker 2: What have you heard? She had the sense to report
- 13:26Speaker 2: them at the time someone else. Someone else reported them
- 13:29Speaker 2: because the other people on the other court heard.
- 13:32Speaker 4: And so and like, this is an association that does
- 13:35Speaker 4: such a good job with her umpires. They've got like
- 13:37Speaker 4: they were when they're learning, they wear a bib that
- 13:39Speaker 4: says trainee umpire, you know, and there's lots of and
- 13:42Speaker 4: all the local I think local netball does it really well. Anyway, Like,
- 13:46Speaker 4: so everyone was really relaxed about it. She's like, oh,
- 13:49Speaker 4: no're just stupid. God. She said, right, I'm going to
- 13:52Speaker 4: go up and watch you next time. She's like, no,
- 13:54Speaker 4: you can't.
- 13:55Speaker 2: I am.
- 13:55Speaker 4: I'm going to go and say to them, this is
- 13:57Speaker 4: not the World Cup.
- 13:57Speaker 2: You know how I know it's not the World Cup
- 13:59Speaker 2: because I played in four.
- 14:04Speaker 3: She's like, mum, just stay away.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Nah, that would be good though, wouldn't it. Wouldn't it
- 14:09Speaker 2: be good to pull out the punch of all punches. Yeah,
- 14:12Speaker 2: like that person over that's my mum. Oh right, we'll
- 14:17Speaker 2: get back in our box.
- 14:19Speaker 3: I wouldn't care less.
- 14:20Speaker 4: But anyway, I was pleased that she was really relaxed
- 14:23Speaker 4: about it. But I just thought, like, it's.
- 14:25Speaker 3: The same thing. Just don't like just let it go.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's a sport.
- 14:30Speaker 1: That's not the way thing to think that this is
- 14:33Speaker 1: the way that you should behave and like your kids
- 14:35Speaker 1: are watching.
- 14:37Speaker 2: I mean, always make my kids at the end of
- 14:39Speaker 2: the game go straight to the umpire and say thank you.
- 14:43Speaker 2: And if they're not heard, make sure they've got icontent
- 14:45Speaker 2: and they're hearing you because it's important, Like they don't
- 14:48Speaker 2: have to do that job. Yeah, it's not a hard
- 14:51Speaker 2: thing to do. It's a little bit of courtesy. Everyone's
- 14:53Speaker 2: trying to learn.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 14:55Speaker 4: So anyway, this is just a funny thing. Like God,
- 14:58Speaker 4: it happens like it happens on sports fields all over.
- 15:00Speaker 4: But I just feel like we can all take a
- 15:02Speaker 4: big deep breath and go, you know what when I
- 15:04Speaker 4: don't make any mistakes. I mean I used to maybe
- 15:08Speaker 4: look at umpire's bad. But anyway, now like, oh, probably
- 15:10Speaker 4: should have been nicer. Sorry anyone who I'm pardoning.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Sorry, I'm yes, this is playing a blanket apology. Yeah,
- 15:17Speaker 1: I do have something funny to share it though, Like
- 15:19Speaker 1: this is about kids getting tougher. So Dotty started high
- 15:21Speaker 1: school went on school camp this week. Here's the list
- 15:23Speaker 1: of all the things to bring but down the bottom.
- 15:26Speaker 1: And they were going camping one night, so one night
- 15:28Speaker 1: there in cabins and one night it's take your little
- 15:31Speaker 1: camping mattress. But you can't take a bit like a
- 15:33Speaker 1: yoga matt type thing. Carry your sleeping bag whatever. But
- 15:36Speaker 1: down the bottom it's got the this is the night
- 15:39Speaker 1: that all the kids get and then down the bottom
- 15:41Speaker 1: there's a note for teachers and school staff. Please bring
- 15:45Speaker 1: above listed items We're appropriate with the following exceptions. Teacher
- 15:49Speaker 1: cabins have electric blankets and on sweet bathrooms, and a
- 15:53Speaker 1: replete with laundered towels and linen, including pillow cases, so
- 15:56Speaker 1: no need to pack those. If your group has an
- 15:59Speaker 1: expedition camp out, your teacher tent also has a thick
- 16:02Speaker 1: sleeping mat provided, so again this is not required. We
- 16:05Speaker 1: also provided teacher's camp chair.
- 16:09Speaker 4: A vision of the teacher tent being like the tent
- 16:11Speaker 4: in Harry Potter Away Kids. It's a three bedroom apartment
- 16:14Speaker 4: inside a two man tent.
- 16:16Speaker 1: But I just love that there's no need for them
- 16:18Speaker 1: to put that on the same list.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Kids. No, I think that's true.
- 16:22Speaker 4: And they use the word replete, you know that they're taking.
- 16:25Speaker 1: The laundered towels and linens.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I just spoke to Donnie though, before she left, and
- 16:31Speaker 2: she said that she was so lucky because the night
- 16:34Speaker 2: that she was in the cabin, so somewhere in the cabin,
- 16:36Speaker 2: one night, somewhere in the tents and then they swapped.
- 16:38Speaker 2: The night she was in, the cabinet polled and a
- 16:41Speaker 2: lot of the people in the tents got flooded so
- 16:44Speaker 2: far away, like it was a forty five minute trek
- 16:46Speaker 2: that they couldn't come back and sleep in them. They
- 16:49Speaker 2: had to just tough it out, tick it out.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 16:53Speaker 4: We went on a school camp once years ago to
- 16:55Speaker 4: the basin and it rained so hard we all got
- 16:59Speaker 4: to evacuated. But there was us and another couple of
- 17:02Speaker 4: schools and it started to rain, so we all screwed
- 17:05Speaker 4: into our tent and it rained all night, and at
- 17:08Speaker 4: three am.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Our teachers came around.
- 17:09Speaker 4: They're like, okay, get up, leave your tents, take what
- 17:12Speaker 4: you can. And it had started to flood. So there
- 17:14Speaker 4: was like this flash flood through because it rained so
- 17:16Speaker 4: much and there was no rest of the water to go.
- 17:18Speaker 3: And I still, to this.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Start, I've never been so cold and weak, you know.
- 17:21Speaker 4: When we were sitting on this ferry and we got
- 17:24Speaker 4: evacuated back to Wild Beach Surf Life Saving Club and
- 17:27Speaker 4: we had to get all these Vinny's.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Clothes at someone had bought like dry it was the pits.
- 17:33Speaker 2: But anyway, we talked about.
- 17:34Speaker 3: It for a long time.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Yeah, there is nothing worse than being cold and wet.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Is there enough?
- 17:38Speaker 4: But sort of a rite of passage if you to
- 17:40Speaker 4: get wet on your school camp, but not.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Too camps two nights.
- 17:44Speaker 1: When I was when I was in primary school, so
- 17:46Speaker 1: year seven at that stage in Queensland was still primary school.
- 17:50Speaker 1: We went on a seven night camping under canvas at
- 17:54Speaker 1: Carnarvon Grade. But would you take a bus load of
- 17:58Speaker 1: year seven or year sick?
- 18:00Speaker 2: Year seven?
- 18:00Speaker 1: I can't remember, but what fourteen hour drive from Brisbane it's.
- 18:04Speaker 4: A long way.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Where we did it last year it was fourteen hours.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Around a long night and we had seven nights under canvas.
- 18:09Speaker 1: There's giant go annas everywhere. You had to keep your
- 18:12Speaker 1: tent zipped up in case of go Anna decides to
- 18:14Speaker 1: go in. It's like wow, seven nights too and they
- 18:18Speaker 1: go away for two nights.
- 18:19Speaker 2: And none of your teachers had replete with one hundred towels.
- 18:24Speaker 6: I think they will replete with darries at that Yes,
- 18:27Speaker 6: I did a net I was ten or eleven at
- 18:30Speaker 6: talabudger of Sports camp and on the last night there
- 18:32Speaker 6: was like a fancy dress party and I thought, well,
- 18:35Speaker 6: I'll go as a cigarette girl, you know in the movie.
- 18:40Speaker 1: And so early on in the week I went and
- 18:42Speaker 1: told all of the coaches and the mums that can
- 18:45Speaker 1: I have your cigarette packets? Because they would sit around
- 18:47Speaker 1: at nine and I got like sixty empty packets of cigarettes.
- 18:51Speaker 1: And it's just that story is wrong on so many levels.
- 18:55Speaker 1: It's really sure will help you ten year old child
- 18:58Speaker 1: pull together at costume based on cigarette You.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Would struggle to do that. Now you package some medionaires.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Excuse me, mister millionnaire, missus millionnaire, do you have a
- 19:11Speaker 4: Do you have a packet of smoke?
- 19:13Speaker 2: Everyone? I can afford it?
- 19:15Speaker 1: Well, that's not our netball chat. So we take a
- 19:19Speaker 1: quick break and then we should talk about some actual
- 19:21Speaker 1: netball that was not my netball camp in nineteen eighty one.
- 19:24Speaker 2: I've got a present for you though.
- 19:25Speaker 1: First now exciting, I think, I think, now, okay, great,
- 19:29Speaker 1: think I think now.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Don't don't I know?
- 19:32Speaker 3: This is not good?
- 19:33Speaker 1: It's not great podcast? Is it another Handtael? Because I
- 19:37Speaker 1: got the children to clean the bathroom before you came
- 19:39Speaker 1: over this morning?
- 19:39Speaker 2: Did they wash the handtail for me? Has it been laundered? No?
- 19:42Speaker 1: Well, that one is still out there because we had
- 19:44Speaker 1: the trader is in on Fridays in that an android yeap, catching,
- 19:49Speaker 1: I can't let in there? What is it?
- 19:52Speaker 2: Close your eyes, Kroen. It's not for Elizabeth, it's for Carolyn. Sorry, okay,
- 19:57Speaker 2: oh my god, open your eyes. Oh look now I'm
- 20:02Speaker 2: a little annoyed. So Karen on our Facebook group actually
- 20:05Speaker 2: posted a photo of this. So my sister sent me
- 20:08Speaker 2: this photo. This is the gnome that was. It's on
- 20:11Speaker 2: our notarable Facebook page that Karen posted. That's from Bunnings.
- 20:15Speaker 2: So Sarah posted a photo of this. No showed me,
- 20:18Speaker 2: and so the first thing I did go straight to
- 20:20Speaker 2: Bunnings here to get you one awesome no idea what
- 20:22Speaker 2: I was talking about? What's not online? It's not anywhere.
- 20:26Speaker 2: So I made Sarah go back to Bunnings in Queensland
- 20:28Speaker 2: and get one and bring it down for you. So
- 20:31Speaker 2: that's been on the plane.
- 20:32Speaker 1: And did you write the WD on her bum because
- 20:35Speaker 1: that's a heard of wed my bed on my chest?
- 20:38Speaker 1: I wrote, wh if I could grow my hair that long? Again,
- 20:42Speaker 1: she's not dissimilar to me.
- 20:44Speaker 2: I have to say.
- 20:45Speaker 3: It's a spitch.
- 20:46Speaker 2: So I thought I must get you one in the garden.
- 20:49Speaker 2: I love her in the garden.
- 20:51Speaker 4: I don't know where she stops at Krolyn Star.
- 20:53Speaker 2: No, it's right right. Its name is Kimmy.
- 20:55Speaker 1: We're more into one person. Well, she's the mid quarter.
- 20:58Speaker 2: That's why her name's Kimmy. You what pleasure?
- 21:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fabulous. The Dribblers have done some good stuff
- 21:04Speaker 1: in the past week. The other thing Nicky Dawson dribbler
- 21:08Speaker 1: told us in relation to our hot cross buns conversation
- 21:12Speaker 1: last week, I think it's her father in law or
- 21:14Speaker 1: father gets so enraged about the hot cross buns being round.
- 21:17Speaker 1: So she wrapped up a packet, put them under the
- 21:19Speaker 1: Christmas tree, and they had hot cross buns on Christmas morning.
- 21:25Speaker 1: And now I'm thinking, I don't think I'm going to
- 21:28Speaker 1: be having a cross anymore on Christmas morning. I think
- 21:30Speaker 1: I'm going to have a hot cross barn.
- 21:32Speaker 2: She did well to find them on Christmas. Dat.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Well, another dribbler has said they're in al the year round.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Well, yeah, that's good.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Cross on it fruit buns. Children picked the cross off.
- 21:45Speaker 3: Oh that's ridiculous across.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Well, the cross is wrong with your children, isn't it.
- 21:51Speaker 3: That's right.
- 21:51Speaker 4: When it gets like it gets, they pick it off
- 21:54Speaker 4: and eat it or pick it off and don't eat it.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Up.
- 21:59Speaker 4: You toasted and.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Anyway, thank you for that.
- 22:01Speaker 1: And I feel like we will take a little break
- 22:04Speaker 1: now and we'll be very ready to do our needy
- 22:06Speaker 1: chat when we get back. Okay, well, netble chat, maybe
- 22:20Speaker 1: a world champion could liquidly this guy.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I feel we are fast running out of time. The
- 22:28Speaker 2: season starts this next week. We need to do a
- 22:31Speaker 2: top four prediction, ladies. We can't hide any longer. So
- 22:36Speaker 2: I think we've passed the ball around, so to speak,
- 22:38Speaker 2: but we haven't actually done it, have we?
- 22:40Speaker 1: We have not done it. I am very worried there
- 22:45Speaker 1: will not be a new South Wales team in the
- 22:48Speaker 1: top four.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Is this what you're saying? Then you get no top four?
- 22:54Speaker 2: Possibly give me your top four.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Thunderboots agreed, Maverick oh Lightning agreed, and then you know
- 23:05Speaker 1: Vixen's swifts. I'm a feeling like it's not going to
- 23:10Speaker 1: be the Fever's best year. I'm feeling like the Firebirds
- 23:14Speaker 1: and the Giants will be much stronger in twenty twenty
- 23:17Speaker 1: seven than they are in twenty twenty six. So I
- 23:19Speaker 1: don't know who comes in at four and five there,
- 23:22Speaker 1: but I'm worried, but wow, I'll go to Melbourne anyway.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Yeah, and sure, isn't it.
- 23:30Speaker 4: I think the Swifts will be there. I think the
- 23:32Speaker 4: Vixens will be there. I reckon the Thunderbirds will be there.
- 23:41Speaker 3: And I really like Lightning.
- 23:42Speaker 2: That's my top four as well, isn't it? Yes? And
- 23:44Speaker 2: I reckon see birds will be minor premiers. You said mAbs,
- 23:50Speaker 2: so yours is the.
- 23:51Speaker 4: You know, it actually hurts going to leave out mAbs
- 23:53Speaker 4: because I think I think about their mid court like
- 23:57Speaker 4: Jamilee Price, Ami Prime mentor, and then give them the
- 23:59Speaker 4: ball to Shimerda Jock, who's got better and better.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I think I'm going to look like an idiot for
- 24:03Speaker 2: leaving MAVs out now. I think I think the issue
- 24:06Speaker 2: with them for me is there's still probably been short
- 24:09Speaker 2: in the defense end.
- 24:10Speaker 4: But without without Janiel, so the real height is so
- 24:16Speaker 4: they've still they've got to they've got to do something
- 24:18Speaker 4: to combat Ramelda.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Ramelda Grace. Yes, I don't forget el Marie Vanderberg is
- 24:26Speaker 2: not a shorty.
- 24:27Speaker 3: No, that's right.
- 24:28Speaker 4: And Mary, oh yeah, mate, Okay, what am I saying?
- 24:35Speaker 2: Sorry, we're just having a discussion reminding us.
- 24:38Speaker 4: Yeah, but no Okay, Austin, Yeah, that's true. Okay, that
- 24:44Speaker 4: makes it, that makes it very difficult. But I just
- 24:46Speaker 4: think MAV is going to go so close.
- 24:48Speaker 3: But who knows.
- 24:49Speaker 4: I just think Kim Jenner and Tara Hinchley back together again.
- 24:53Speaker 4: They bring up the best in each other. It's hard
- 24:55Speaker 4: to leave them out. But it's also, I don't know.
- 24:58Speaker 3: You didn't rob the boat.
- 25:00Speaker 2: They will rock the funny that none of us have
- 25:02Speaker 2: said Firebirds, they have got so many guns in there.
- 25:05Speaker 2: I just feel like there's a lot of new parts
- 25:07Speaker 2: to try, and that's what I feel like.
- 25:09Speaker 1: I feel like there's so much that is new in
- 25:12Speaker 1: the Firebirds, including their coach, like she's not long been
- 25:17Speaker 1: in the job. I just think they've got some amazing
- 25:20Speaker 1: individual parts and it just might take them some time
- 25:23Speaker 1: to find a rhythm.
- 25:24Speaker 4: Yeah, i'd see with the Swifts, it will take them
- 25:27Speaker 4: a little while to hit their straps. I reckon, they've
- 25:29Speaker 4: just got a bed in this mid court.
- 25:30Speaker 3: They bring Maddie Prowd back.
- 25:31Speaker 4: Genda Crampton tell the Fraser like it will take them
- 25:34Speaker 4: a little while. But Page Tadler, Yeah, well, I did
- 25:37Speaker 4: hear a rumor that Page looks like she could play
- 25:39Speaker 4: and she had her baby twenty minutes ago.
- 25:41Speaker 2: So you know, given them, I couldn't I struggle to
- 25:44Speaker 2: get out of the house.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Oh I could ever shower for about.
- 25:49Speaker 2: It? Just yeah?
- 25:52Speaker 1: So do we have? Okay, so I think I'm Thunderbirds,
- 25:57Speaker 1: Lightning Mavericks and I'll go Swifts.
- 26:01Speaker 2: But that means I'm leaving the Victens out.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Of the It's insane, like what the Actually Vixens are
- 26:06Speaker 1: the ones who are the most solid line stable lineup,
- 26:10Speaker 1: aren't they?
- 26:10Speaker 2: So I don't I don't even want to tip.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Who's your fourth?
- 26:18Speaker 2: So mine's t Birds minor premiers, and then I'd probably
- 26:22Speaker 2: have Lightning off Swifts and Vixen's fourth four. I reckon
- 26:28Speaker 2: Lightning to be the minor premiers. Oh do you know
- 26:32Speaker 2: what I can't wait for?
- 26:33Speaker 7: Though?
- 26:34Speaker 2: Round one Swift's Thunderbirds straight out of the game.
- 26:37Speaker 3: We will have a good idea.
- 26:39Speaker 2: You know.
- 26:39Speaker 3: It's interesting, isn't it?
- 26:40Speaker 4: Like we've been talking before we recorded about like how
- 26:44Speaker 4: much a coach is foxing? How much have we really said?
- 26:48Speaker 2: What I think? I don't think we've seen?
- 26:50Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 26:51Speaker 4: No, and had the Thunderbirds like have they peaked? It
- 26:55Speaker 4: was just them not peak?
- 26:58Speaker 1: Have they peaked, but they're still so good that even
- 27:01Speaker 1: if they're coming off the peak, they're better than everyone
- 27:03Speaker 1: else who knows. It's hard to it's hard to tip
- 27:07Speaker 1: against them. But I also think no one ever wins
- 27:09Speaker 1: when they're this strong in Team Girls Cup for instance,
- 27:13Speaker 1: so which we don't didn't have this year, but you know,
- 27:17Speaker 1: we have seen a lot of the team. So anyway,
- 27:21Speaker 1: once again, don't listen to me.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Well, actually don't listen to any of us.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Really, but do tip.
- 27:28Speaker 1: So the tipping comp is open. It's very exciting. Go
- 27:31Speaker 1: to nodribble dot com dot au and join us. It's
- 27:33Speaker 1: only fifteen dollars for the whole season. Now, it's very
- 27:37Speaker 1: interesting this year. One thing that we have done is
- 27:39Speaker 1: we've asked people to nominate what team they support. Twenty
- 27:43Speaker 1: five percent of people in the tipping comp support which
- 27:46Speaker 1: team Vixen's Swifts Swifts, Yeah, yeah, Swifts, followed by Vixen's,
- 27:54Speaker 1: followed by no team.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Oh interesting, Everyone's just Lovesnareball, Yeah.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Because dropped down men but instead of hard you can't
- 28:07Speaker 1: get through to it without and then Thunderbirds and then
- 28:12Speaker 1: Fever and then Giants and not surprisingly because of the
- 28:17Speaker 1: Queensland rules around tipping comp We have the fewest Queensland
- 28:22Speaker 1: tippers in there, and so it's Lightning followed by Firebirds
- 28:27Speaker 1: in terms of numbers of fans represented, and the MAVs
- 28:31Speaker 1: have the fewest number of people identifying as MAVs fans.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I reckon, you want to change that real fast.
- 28:37Speaker 2: That's a that's a band to get on.
- 28:40Speaker 4: So in just saying so this is a question without notice. Great,
- 28:44Speaker 4: we may need to cut out and cut it out
- 28:45Speaker 4: in case no one's got anything smart to say. Who's
- 28:48Speaker 4: the player that we're going to be talking about, Like
- 28:50Speaker 4: who's at the end of you who were going to go,
- 28:52Speaker 4: oh she was?
- 28:55Speaker 2: I reckon.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Grace Worky had such a educational year last year. I
- 29:04Speaker 1: think the back end of that season, I think she
- 29:07Speaker 1: learned an enormous amount about herself and about the competition.
- 29:11Speaker 1: So I think it will be really interesting to watch
- 29:14Speaker 1: her this year, and I guess second year playing alongside
- 29:18Speaker 1: Helen Howsby, I'm.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Going to go Kate Heffernan. I reckon she will make
- 29:22Speaker 2: a big difference to the t Birds. Okay, so may
- 29:27Speaker 2: not be her standing out, but I think what she'll
- 29:29Speaker 2: contribute to the tea birds will make them near on st.
- 29:32Speaker 1: I've been really interested to watch al Murray Vanderberg correct
- 29:35Speaker 1: in combination, Yeah for sure, Like where do they put
- 29:37Speaker 1: Heffernan to start with?
- 29:38Speaker 2: But I mean that just no weaknesses, no chinks in
- 29:42Speaker 2: that armor.
- 29:43Speaker 1: And what about Danelle, like because we haven't seen that
- 29:46Speaker 1: much of her in the last year she's been away,
- 29:48Speaker 1: so I think that will be mean for Carra Cone
- 29:50Speaker 1: and too, I'm intrigued to see how that uracane. And
- 29:52Speaker 1: she's got a lot of questions to ask herself. I think,
- 29:55Speaker 1: doesn't she around where she sits in diamonds and the like? Too?
- 29:59Speaker 3: What about you?
- 30:00Speaker 1: You asked the question. I usually don't ask a question
- 30:03Speaker 1: unless I have a smart sounding answer.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Up with I learned that.
- 30:06Speaker 4: I learned that at law school. Don't ask a question
- 30:08Speaker 4: that you don't know the answer to. And I don't
- 30:10Speaker 4: really have a good answer other than to say, I reckon.
- 30:13Speaker 4: We're going to talk a bit about Raleigh Bachelor or
- 30:15Speaker 4: if I pronounced her name the bachel door. See, this
- 30:18Speaker 4: is why I don't commentate anymore. I reckon, Like she's
- 30:23Speaker 4: she's got that great center card in front of our
- 30:26Speaker 4: She's got shimoona jock to get the ball too.
- 30:28Speaker 3: I just see it.
- 30:28Speaker 4: We saw a little bit of how good she can
- 30:31Speaker 4: be last year, and I saw a great story that
- 30:34Speaker 4: we did on her last year about her just coming
- 30:37Speaker 4: back from her knee reconstructions, and you know what that's meant.
- 30:40Speaker 3: And I just I don't know. I just like the
- 30:41Speaker 3: look of her. I reckon. She's been a good pick
- 30:43Speaker 3: up for mam.
- 30:44Speaker 2: She's been a bloody brilliant pick up for them because
- 30:48Speaker 2: you think about her too on a super shot, which
- 30:50Speaker 2: she can nail. If she misses them, you've got jock
- 30:53Speaker 2: cleaning them up. There's not another combo like that in
- 30:57Speaker 2: the league because if you look at the Vixen's they
- 30:59Speaker 2: don't really like shooting the super shots. Sunshine Coast Lightning,
- 31:03Speaker 2: Cara Conas not.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Good to talk about fever.
- 31:06Speaker 2: It was just heartbreaking.
- 31:08Speaker 1: So live Wilkinson's out for the season.
- 31:11Speaker 2: No, but it's not. She's not going to be back
- 31:14Speaker 2: in the first few rounds. It's my understanding. So it's
- 31:16Speaker 2: longer than them.
- 31:18Speaker 1: They've got so much in play at the moment, so
- 31:21Speaker 1: everything every time they sort of get okay, this is
- 31:25Speaker 1: our new, our new plan.
- 31:27Speaker 3: It's not so far.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Heartbreaking. Have we spoken about Georgie Hore just getting the
- 31:33Speaker 2: captaincy though we have not captain did no twenty times?
- 31:43Speaker 2: So wait, is that it is?
- 31:46Speaker 1: It's extraordinary and so so well deserved.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Yes, with that.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Question, but I you know, I said to you a
- 31:52Speaker 1: month ago, isn't Shamira the captain of the Thunderburns? And
- 31:55Speaker 1: I have no idea where I got that from. And
- 31:57Speaker 1: you know, let's be clear, I'm not that well tapped
- 31:59Speaker 1: in from what.
- 32:00Speaker 2: You do tell me, which is not much.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Not much, that's right, and it's highly unreliable. But so
- 32:08Speaker 1: I must have seen that somewhere some sort of speculation
- 32:12Speaker 1: about Shamira being the captain because you said, oh god,
- 32:14Speaker 1: I haven't heard that. We can't talk about that because
- 32:16Speaker 1: I should know it if it's. If that's the case,
- 32:19Speaker 1: I don't think she was officially because Hannah had just retired. Yeah,
- 32:23Speaker 1: and there weren't were they closed last year? Is that
- 32:25Speaker 1: where you got it from? I don't think they were
- 32:27Speaker 1: last year.
- 32:27Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 32:28Speaker 2: I don't like captains tuning into the podcast where we
- 32:31Speaker 2: talk about netball, but we don't actually know what we're
- 32:33Speaker 2: talking about when we're talking.
- 32:34Speaker 4: About well, actually we've got a short we've got short
- 32:36Speaker 4: term memory that everything had happened last year.
- 32:38Speaker 3: We forget about it.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Can I while we're talking about leadership, talk about the
- 32:44Speaker 1: Lightning leadership lineup. I thought that was interesting. And when
- 32:47Speaker 1: I say interesting, I don't love it. I think, man,
- 32:51Speaker 1: that's a lot of five power that you've got there
- 32:53Speaker 1: in your in your three person leadership team co captains
- 32:57Speaker 1: are so Liz Watson is the captain and then Courtney
- 33:00Speaker 1: Bruce and Karen Berger and Camberger are the co co
- 33:05Speaker 1: vice captains. I believe, Yeah, I don't know. I quite
- 33:09Speaker 1: liked last year that Liz Watson, who I think is
- 33:12Speaker 1: a wonderful Diamonds captain, I quite liked that she was
- 33:14Speaker 1: just a member of a team. You know, I can
- 33:16Speaker 1: be the captain of the Australian Diamonds and then during
- 33:19Speaker 1: the season, the Super Netball season, I can be a
- 33:23Speaker 1: member of the team and I don't have to be
- 33:25Speaker 1: the leader all the time. I was just I was
- 33:26Speaker 1: interested that she's obviously put a hand up to do well.
- 33:30Speaker 2: I think what they did was good last year. You
- 33:32Speaker 2: can't just put her in as captain over Steph Frettwell,
- 33:36Speaker 2: when Steph Frettell hadn't been doing anything wrong. I was
- 33:38Speaker 2: a great leader. It makes sense to me that she
- 33:41Speaker 2: is now the captain. I think that was going to
- 33:43Speaker 2: be the natural progression. But all the multiple captains, of
- 33:47Speaker 2: the multiple vice captains, and because it was I can't
- 33:50Speaker 2: think which team it was, but they had two captains,
- 33:52Speaker 2: two vice captains.
- 33:54Speaker 4: We've got three people following them.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Who isn't the captain? I thinks you're a you're a
- 34:04Speaker 2: library monitor.
- 34:05Speaker 1: It's like, oh, just you, You're the a one who's not.
- 34:08Speaker 3: The technology captain? I heard that recently.
- 34:12Speaker 4: Most certainly did what would be us teah?
- 34:21Speaker 1: Okay, So yeah, So we are less than a week away,
- 34:25Speaker 1: So get your tips in and if you haven't joined
- 34:26Speaker 1: the tipping comp, please join the tipping comp. It's so
- 34:28Speaker 1: super fun and it's you know, you'll beat Liz for
- 34:32Speaker 1: sure because.
- 34:33Speaker 2: She can only tip home teams. So are you going
- 34:36Speaker 2: to be somewhere chair round one? Are you watching any
- 34:38Speaker 2: of the games live?
- 34:39Speaker 4: No, I'm going to be sitting watching you to the Actually,
- 34:43Speaker 4: like I mean, I live in the country, right, so
- 34:45Speaker 4: to go to a game and it's a it's a
- 34:47Speaker 4: hall and we'll get to a number of games this year.
- 34:49Speaker 4: But I am going to have a weekend at home
- 34:51Speaker 4: next week, so I just listened to you, So don't
- 34:53Speaker 4: make any mistakes because I'll be sending in the complaints
- 34:56Speaker 4: form the Foxtel.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I will see you on TUESDA. Say that
- 35:01Speaker 2: the lawn, Yes, tell me about that. Well, it's the
- 35:04Speaker 2: Super Apple launch. It'll be great. It's in Brisbane. It's
- 35:06Speaker 2: going to be the Sun Called Headquarters in Brisbane. Every
- 35:11Speaker 2: captain will be actually one captain won't be there. I
- 35:13Speaker 2: think MAVs are sending Tara.
- 35:15Speaker 4: Hinchliff and Ruth's going.
- 35:18Speaker 2: From West Coast Vigia. That makes sense given the trouble.
- 35:20Speaker 2: But it'll be great. It looks like it's cracking. It's
- 35:24Speaker 2: on the rooftop.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Is all Molly and now.
- 35:29Speaker 2: She was pregnant?
- 35:29Speaker 3: Yeah, and then Amy.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 35:34Speaker 3: I can't keep up.
- 35:35Speaker 4: Yeah, So looking forward to the launch. It'll be spectacular,
- 35:39Speaker 4: be great, it's good.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Going to get on the Cans and Queens. Oh, we'll
- 35:42Speaker 2: make it on the Cans before the launch at about
- 35:44Speaker 2: eight am. Lisa is coming to my room for hair
- 35:48Speaker 2: and make up at seven am. You know that if
- 35:52Speaker 2: it was eight am, right.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Wait, are we having another daylight saving Potentially that's what's
- 36:02Speaker 1: who I thought I had to be there at eight am,
- 36:04Speaker 1: so we'll have to work that out.
- 36:06Speaker 2: But anyway, it'll be good fun. We can talk about
- 36:08Speaker 2: that next week. Yes.
- 36:10Speaker 1: The one place we definitely will be that we can
- 36:13Speaker 1: announce that we can all be together is we're going
- 36:15Speaker 1: to have a function the night before the New Southwalt
- 36:18Speaker 1: Senior State Titles.
- 36:18Speaker 2: I was in.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Penrith this week looking at our function venue. So that's Friday,
- 36:22Speaker 1: the fifth of June. So if you're coming to Senior
- 36:24Speaker 1: State Titles in New South Wales, please.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Plan to come to our function.
- 36:28Speaker 1: It'll be I know some of you have association dinners
- 36:30Speaker 1: that night, but it'll be which you're also at Penrith
- 36:33Speaker 1: Panther's World of Entertainment, but as will be before it,
- 36:36Speaker 1: so you can come to both. I'll in and have
- 36:38Speaker 1: a drink and have a drink, have some good times
- 36:40Speaker 1: with us.
- 36:41Speaker 2: And let's be honest, if you're playing Senior State titles,
- 36:43Speaker 2: you need a beverage or two after those days, or.
- 36:46Speaker 1: If your child is playing and they are off with
- 36:48Speaker 1: their team and you are able to cut loose and
- 36:51Speaker 1: have a good time I know that there are a
- 36:53Speaker 1: lot of New South Walest people who are disappointed that
- 36:55Speaker 1: the junior state titles is on the same weekend as
- 36:57Speaker 1: a super Netbak Grand Final. And that's just this year
- 37:00Speaker 1: is with the CAMM games and everything there are, they
- 37:02Speaker 1: have to be compromises all around. But what yourself, I
- 37:07Speaker 1: won't miss out on is a notible function this year.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Fifth fifth Une Friday. If you come with ice packs on.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Before, it's before stay because that's the state titles are
- 37:19Speaker 1: on Saturday Sunday.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh, and we're Friday Friday.
- 37:23Speaker 1: And then you can go to the Swifts on the
- 37:25Speaker 1: Saturday night and the Giants on the Sunday night or
- 37:27Speaker 1: vice versa. I can't remember. But we're not We're not
- 37:29Speaker 1: on at the same time as any of the super
- 37:31Speaker 1: Netball games. So you can have your fill of netball
- 37:35Speaker 1: at all layers of our beautiful game.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Pre drink with us Friday night.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Very good. So we have had a complaint from the
- 37:54Speaker 1: Goat about the US the Goat segment in that it's
- 37:59Speaker 1: quite a lot of pressure for her apparently. But we
- 38:02Speaker 1: have had I think a very interesting question come in
- 38:07Speaker 1: from one of our dribblers, Champagne tastes on a tap
- 38:11Speaker 1: border budget. Also a Lizzella's fan club member facing an
- 38:16Speaker 1: existential dilemma. So I'll read this, okay, Dear giddy Goat,
- 38:21Speaker 1: I need some advice on how to approach a sensitive
- 38:23Speaker 1: topic with someone I've known for a long time and
- 38:25Speaker 1: have really respected until a recent realization about how she
- 38:29Speaker 1: spends her downtime has led me to question everything.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Oh, I love this already.
- 38:32Speaker 1: She's excelled in her career and family life, is fearless
- 38:35Speaker 1: and inspiring leader, and most of the time smart, kind,
- 38:39Speaker 1: funny and wise. We seem to have a lot in common.
- 38:43Speaker 1: We share a love of netball, correct grammar, wine and food,
- 38:47Speaker 1: and high quality glassword, especially on holidays. Notwithstanding these similarities,
- 38:52Speaker 1: there's something about her that makes me question my admiration
- 38:55Speaker 1: for her and frankly, her sanity just a little bit.
- 38:58Speaker 2: I think we all know where this is going.
- 39:00Speaker 1: By the way, I already knew it was something she
- 39:02Speaker 1: did with her family, and she always made it sound
- 39:04Speaker 1: like a bit of harmless fun. Such is her sway.
- 39:07Speaker 1: It had crossed my mind that maybe even I could
- 39:09Speaker 1: get out of my comfort zone, forget about the risks,
- 39:12Speaker 1: and try it for myself. I've recently learned more of
- 39:15Speaker 1: the details about what her pastime involves, though, and I
- 39:17Speaker 1: am really worried about how far deep into this subculture
- 39:21Speaker 1: she's gone. I know it disturbs her friends too. So
- 39:25Speaker 1: how do I tell this incredible woman that carrying your
- 39:28Speaker 1: family's excrement around, torturing your children with films about dying dogs,
- 39:35Speaker 1: and risking your life scrambling across rocky outcrops like some
- 39:39Speaker 1: kind of mountain goat to the point of physical exhaustion
- 39:42Speaker 1: and wounding means that this whole camping, caravan outdoorsy thing
- 39:47Speaker 1: has gone too far? Please can the giddy goat reflect
- 39:50Speaker 1: on this? Signed Champagne tastes on a tapwater budget. Oh well,
- 39:55Speaker 1: we ipplore you champagne tas Yeah, you.
- 40:00Speaker 3: Don't know until you've tried it.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Well, Liz, this isn't a podcast recording, This is not
- 40:05Speaker 1: a radio player. This is an intervention. Let me tell you.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Oh yes, unfortunately, we will have did you write no,
- 40:19Speaker 1: Emily Graham? This is question And Emily Graham, you will
- 40:25Speaker 1: remember you played with her. She's she's in a corporate role.
- 40:30Speaker 1: But maybe it was just before we had the very
- 40:32Speaker 1: first no Dribble event in Sydney maybe last year baby Elizabeth,
- 40:36Speaker 1: so she's totally drug al aid.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Liz cool.
- 40:41Speaker 4: So you loll be pleased to know that we have
- 40:44Speaker 4: one more trip in the caravan in April, which is
- 40:46Speaker 4: to take the caravan to a sporting event, a rugby event,
- 40:49Speaker 4: and then the caravan will go on the market. So
- 40:52Speaker 4: if anyone wants to buy the caravan, because.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Anyone would like to buy Liz Ellison's caravans.
- 40:57Speaker 4: Let us know you want to pay more that it's worth,
- 41:00Speaker 4: that'd be great. So yeah, but the thing.
- 41:03Speaker 1: You could leave a full toilet. There were mega fans leave.
- 41:10Speaker 3: A full toilet. I just want empty what's in there?
- 41:12Speaker 2: Yes, that's what I mean.
- 41:13Speaker 4: Yeah, no, and but so and so I've been in
- 41:16Speaker 4: the process of booking our family a trip to Hamilton,
- 41:19Speaker 4: Ireland and thinking, oh, September, everything's over. I discovered this
- 41:23Speaker 4: morning that the dates I was looking at is the
- 41:25Speaker 4: Academy Challenge or something somewhere that's not at our house.
- 41:29Speaker 4: So I'm like, right, I might just give up holiday
- 41:31Speaker 4: and forever and just follow my kids around playing sports.
- 41:34Speaker 3: You are telling this story.
- 41:35Speaker 2: May I commend you?
- 41:35Speaker 1: Though, When you were telling me this story about this
- 41:38Speaker 1: scheduling issue in the car.
- 41:39Speaker 3: There were a lot more.
- 41:40Speaker 4: F bombs, you know. And I was so close to
- 41:46Speaker 4: booking flights last week that would.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Have been you know, a reasonable price, a.
- 41:50Speaker 4: Reasonable price but non refundable. And I feel like I'm yeah,
- 41:56Speaker 4: but AnyWho look rest assured, Emily. Unfortunately for me, but
- 42:00Speaker 4: fortunately not only for my friends either side of me,
- 42:04Speaker 4: for you the dribbler and all the other dribblers, but
- 42:06Speaker 4: also for my family who have well my husband in particular,
- 42:09Speaker 4: who's pretended to like it for.
- 42:10Speaker 2: The last six years. It's over. It's coming to an end,
- 42:13Speaker 2: coming to an end. And then I'll be sad and.
- 42:17Speaker 3: They'd be sad.
- 42:18Speaker 4: Yeah, And then when the kids we finally kicked them
- 42:20Speaker 4: out a home or they don't want to come with
- 42:22Speaker 4: us anymore, I will just sell the farm and live
- 42:24Speaker 4: in my caravan forever.
- 42:25Speaker 2: And I'll buy your bumper.
- 42:30Speaker 7: What if this fan's are rocking, the fans are rocking,
- 42:38Speaker 7: We'll be putting denker rup on my seesh.
- 42:46Speaker 1: But what are they They're called ski holidays. Spending the
- 42:48Speaker 1: kids inheritance. Yes, I will just spend the money.
- 42:51Speaker 3: So I'm all like, when the.
- 42:52Speaker 4: Kids are grown up, sweetheart, we'll buy know the caravan
- 42:55Speaker 4: and and we'll go around at Matthew's like, no, what's
- 42:58Speaker 4: the caravan's gone?
- 42:59Speaker 3: It's gone go to Europe.
- 43:02Speaker 2: I'm going to complain about that probably unless.
- 43:05Speaker 3: You can caravan around Europe? Could we could?
- 43:08Speaker 2: Well?
- 43:09Speaker 1: Anyway, you've made us all smarter in areas that maybe
- 43:12Speaker 1: we didn't want to be smarter about. But it's probably
- 43:14Speaker 1: helped reinforce my very good life decisions to never.
- 43:22Speaker 4: On my side. Can you guys just please maybe post
- 43:24Speaker 4: photos put out your caravans if you're on.
- 43:26Speaker 1: My side without your caravans, that is lovely. I did
- 43:29Speaker 1: have a couple of dribblers make recommendations to me about
- 43:32Speaker 1: sports bras that don't have the that have the padding
- 43:36Speaker 1: stitched in, or our phone moulded. So it's great. It
- 43:40Speaker 1: is a source of incredible wisdom.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Breast tissue at a time. Once it tears, that's it.
- 43:46Speaker 3: It's time.
- 43:46Speaker 2: Forever explains a.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Lot well on that series depressing night. We should probably go.
- 43:53Speaker 1: We've got to get you back to see your daughter's
- 43:55Speaker 1: gained twelve thirty and we thank her for letting us
- 43:59Speaker 1: have you for a.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Bit of time.
- 44:00Speaker 1: And who knows when we three we went.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Shall we three meet again in thunder Fire and Rain.
- 44:07Speaker 3: Probably added before.
- 44:08Speaker 1: At our show before change, I was just being the
- 44:13Speaker 1: three Witches from Macbeth.
- 44:15Speaker 2: It went so far on rain.
- 44:18Speaker 3: All right.
- 44:19Speaker 4: Well, I'm Caroline Swells.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Had a good week by
