- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Welcome to the Almost Famous podcast. We are getting started
- 0:08Speaker 2: with one of the most anticipated and one of the
- 0:11Speaker 2: most excited seasons that Ashley and I have ever entered into.
- 0:15Speaker 2: It's now the time for the Golden Bachelorette. This is
- 0:18Speaker 2: something that we've waited for that first a part of
- 0:22Speaker 2: our life. It was just a dream and now we're
- 0:25Speaker 2: actually in it. The season is airing and we're here
- 0:27Speaker 2: to break down episode one of this season. It's Jones
- 0:31Speaker 2: season of the Golden Bachelorette. Ashley is with me. Ashley, Hello,
- 0:36Speaker 2: your thoughts, feelings, emotions. As you enter in and you
- 0:40Speaker 2: turned on your television to watch this beautiful episode.
- 0:44Speaker 3: I was really excited to watch it. It was just
- 0:48Speaker 3: as captivating as I hoped it would be. And I
- 0:53Speaker 3: was really sad that there was a rose ceremony at
- 0:55Speaker 3: the end of it, because I thought that they really
- 0:59Speaker 3: made us so am I was connected to these guys
- 1:01Speaker 3: so quickly. After we watch the video of their families
- 1:04Speaker 3: doing shout outs, I was like, Oh, there's no way
- 1:07Speaker 3: that they're going to eliminate any of these guys. They're
- 1:10Speaker 3: gonna have Jesse come in and be like, guess what
- 1:11Speaker 3: there was ceremony tonight.
- 1:13Speaker 4: But there was.
- 1:14Speaker 3: And I will say they did a good job of
- 1:16Speaker 3: not really eliminating anyone. They didn't highlight anyone who was eliminated.
- 1:21Speaker 3: So the guys that did leave, I didn't really have
- 1:24Speaker 3: any impressions of you.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Could have said it better. Let's start from the beginning.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Joan as our Golden Bachelorette. Fantastic choice. Now it just
- 1:34Speaker 2: feels like the obvious choice. There are so many incredible
- 1:36Speaker 2: women on the last season of The Golden Bachelor, but
- 1:40Speaker 2: it just feels now with everything that Joan has beauty
- 1:47Speaker 2: and grace.
- 1:48Speaker 3: It's grace.
- 1:49Speaker 2: I was gonna say that she has wisdom. You can
- 1:52Speaker 2: tell even in her time with her family and her interview.
- 1:56Speaker 2: She's slow to speak, quick to listen seriously, she has
- 2:01Speaker 2: a story to back her up. She's gorgeous. I think
- 2:07Speaker 2: it was like the obvious choice. Now it feels that
- 2:10Speaker 2: way now again, I want to preface it with say,
- 2:12Speaker 2: there was some amazing women, and there's some other obvious
- 2:15Speaker 2: choices that she could think could have picked, but Joan
- 2:18Speaker 2: in this role fits. Yes, She's It's like when she
- 2:24Speaker 2: enters into camera, especially in the moments where she is
- 2:28Speaker 2: the bachelorette. It's captivating at some level, right, Like it's
- 2:34Speaker 2: like almost a show stopping Like it feels like she glows.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Somebody said it was like royalty, and it does feel
- 2:42Speaker 3: like that. She has this composure and it's the elegance
- 2:45Speaker 3: and grace. It's like a it's like a Grace Kelly thing. Yeah,
- 2:50Speaker 3: she's very calming and she just seems like no drama.
- 2:55Speaker 3: She seems truly like there for you, being.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Like, oh the top. No.
- 3:02Speaker 2: No, I don't think there's enough that we could say
- 3:04Speaker 2: about Joan that would even fit who she is. I
- 3:07Speaker 2: think if you met Joan in person, which you and
- 3:09Speaker 2: I have gotten to do, you would be as captivated
- 3:13Speaker 2: and you would sit there and be like I could
- 3:14Speaker 2: talk to you for two hours because you have a
- 3:16Speaker 2: lot of wisdom. Yeah, and she is slow to speak,
- 3:19Speaker 2: quick to listen. So Joan is a great choice. She shines.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I think she is a in a sense, like she
- 3:25Speaker 2: almost looks like the savior of the show. Not that
- 3:28Speaker 2: the show needs saving right now. I think it's in
- 3:29Speaker 2: a fine place, but it just feels like she's going
- 3:32Speaker 2: to thrive in this role. It's incredible that they found
- 3:37Speaker 2: somebody like her to lead this, And then with that
- 3:40Speaker 2: same breath, I'll say it's incredible they found so many
- 3:46Speaker 2: incredible men to do it as well.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Yeah, and I love the way that the guys are
- 3:52Speaker 3: very much the way that the women were at first.
- 3:55Speaker 3: It's there's a camaraderie. They want to be friends, They're
- 4:00Speaker 3: to have fun together. There's not going to be any
- 4:02Speaker 3: sort of and I don't feel like there's gonna be
- 4:04Speaker 3: any sort of animosity. They go in there and they're
- 4:07Speaker 3: like bros. And there's just so much less tension. And
- 4:11Speaker 3: I really think that has to do with perspective and
- 4:13Speaker 3: talked about it on Garious season. It's just like these people,
- 4:18Speaker 3: they just they've lived more life. They know what's important
- 4:21Speaker 3: and they know like, if it doesn't work, it doesn't work.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I think it's a good lesson learned for all of
- 4:26Speaker 2: us as we watch it is as you get older,
- 4:29Speaker 2: what do you trend towards? And it's not the drama
- 4:33Speaker 2: and the fighting and the competitiveness. It's the camaraderie. It's
- 4:36Speaker 2: the community, it's the shared respect, it's the mutual support.
- 4:41Speaker 2: We've seen it with both seasons now and I'm sure
- 4:43Speaker 2: there's gonna be some animosity. There's a bunch of people
- 4:45Speaker 2: living in the same house together for the next few months.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Things will pop up that annoy you about somebody else,
- 4:51Speaker 2: and maybe we'll hear about that. But the level of
- 4:53Speaker 2: drama compared to other seasons like The Bachelor or Bachelorette,
- 4:58Speaker 2: will be a lot more minimal. It won't be a highlight.
- 5:02Speaker 2: They can't make it a highlight. We've been There's been
- 5:05Speaker 2: some bad moments here for production. I think over the
- 5:08Speaker 2: last few weeks when it comes to Gin's ending, and
- 5:11Speaker 2: then obviously with the missed opportunity to tell Devin not
- 5:16Speaker 2: to even come on the show. You know those things
- 5:19Speaker 2: you know, we've talked about that we've been critical. I
- 5:21Speaker 2: will say this episode specifically, and I'm hoping it continues
- 5:25Speaker 2: for the rest of the season, was so well done.
- 5:28Speaker 2: It was an incredible episode to watch. We got to
- 5:30Speaker 2: learn so much about these contestants and such a short
- 5:33Speaker 2: amount of time. And as you said, the reason that
- 5:36Speaker 2: we were so captivated, so intrigued, and so into these
- 5:40Speaker 2: people was due to how they set up the show,
- 5:43Speaker 2: and it was absolutely incredible. I didn't want to roast
- 5:45Speaker 2: ceremony either. In fact, I don't know how she's going
- 5:47Speaker 2: to have rost ceremonies because it feels like they should
- 5:50Speaker 2: all just hang out together and just continue on their
- 5:53Speaker 2: merry way for the rest of time. And I have
- 5:57Speaker 2: to give credit there and say, this is just a
- 5:58Speaker 2: really good episode. This is a good, well done episode,
- 6:01Speaker 2: from the storytelling perspective, to the arc of the episode
- 6:05Speaker 2: to helping us get to know these contestants a little
- 6:07Speaker 2: bit better.
- 6:08Speaker 4: It felt so good to watch.
- 6:10Speaker 3: I do have to say that maybe it's just easier
- 6:13Speaker 3: to create this closeness that we feel towards them because
- 6:17Speaker 3: they have these pasts, you know, like they're telling the
- 6:21Speaker 3: story of their decea spouse, they're telling the story about
- 6:25Speaker 3: their kids. And when we watch packages and stuff with
- 6:29Speaker 3: the Bachelor Bachelorette, it's kind of like, Hi, I'm so
- 6:33Speaker 3: and so I'm looking for love. You know. Well, there's,
- 6:36Speaker 3: of course, there's like a lot of depth and stuff,
- 6:38Speaker 3: But I just think that there's something about people already
- 6:41Speaker 3: having these families formed that probably make you feel like
- 6:45Speaker 3: they're just a mushier. They don't come across ever as
- 6:48Speaker 3: like victim stories or like, oh, here's my sap story,
- 6:54Speaker 3: which of course, I you know, I feel for all
- 6:57Speaker 3: of the ones that we've seen in the past, it's
- 6:59Speaker 3: a discredit them. It's just that like for uh, like
- 7:03Speaker 3: the cast as a whole, because they all have like
- 7:08Speaker 3: they just they just seem like they have like more
- 7:11Speaker 3: depth at this age, which is perhaps, Yeah, I don't know,
- 7:14Speaker 3: do you know what I'm saying, Well.
- 7:16Speaker 4: I'd hope they have more depth they have.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Some more years, Okay, So like I just think that
- 7:21Speaker 3: it's maybe it's where I am in life. Seeing packages
- 7:25Speaker 3: about like these dads and their kids just makes me
- 7:29Speaker 3: feel really oh yeah.
- 7:33Speaker 2: I think part of it too, actually is just a change. Again,
- 7:36Speaker 2: I'll go back to how the show is made, and
- 7:38Speaker 2: I think it's a change in how they storytell and
- 7:41Speaker 2: what used to happen on the show is kind of
- 7:43Speaker 2: through those entry packages, we get a taste at a
- 7:47Speaker 2: piece of the bigger story from these contestants. And now
- 7:51Speaker 2: what we're doing is we're waiting until those one on
- 7:53Speaker 2: one dates kind of as they sit at the cocktail
- 7:55Speaker 2: part or they sit at a one on one like
- 7:57Speaker 2: dinner for the contestant to actually open up and tell
- 8:01Speaker 2: their story. And a lot of contestants do have a
- 8:03Speaker 2: story and they do have depth, but the show, for
- 8:06Speaker 2: whatever reason, on the Bachelor and Bachelorette wait until those
- 8:10Speaker 2: one on one moments to tell the audience, and they
- 8:13Speaker 2: used to in the entry packages give us a taste
- 8:16Speaker 2: of that story, and so we go into it being like, Hey,
- 8:18Speaker 2: I want to learn more about that person because I
- 8:21Speaker 2: know they have a story to tell and we kind
- 8:22Speaker 2: of anticipated when they would expand on it more with
- 8:25Speaker 2: the lead. And I think that's what they're doing with
- 8:27Speaker 2: the Golden Bachelorette.
- 8:28Speaker 3: More upfront story, more.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Upfront storytelling it. They don't wait until the end. They
- 8:34Speaker 2: get us at the beginning, and so the whole time,
- 8:36Speaker 2: now we're going to be captivated by each one of
- 8:38Speaker 2: these contestants and go, you have such a story. And yes,
- 8:41Speaker 2: not all of them got to tell Jen on night
- 8:43Speaker 2: or Joan on night one. Not all of them got
- 8:46Speaker 2: to expand on that story on night one, But what
- 8:48Speaker 2: our hope is that they get to at some point throughout.
- 8:50Speaker 4: The season and we get to learn a little bit more.
- 8:53Speaker 3: But like, okay, so what I was really trying to
- 8:55Speaker 3: say is like, look at you and me going into
- 8:58Speaker 3: The Bachelor and the Bachelorette. We had nothing really. I mean, yes,
- 9:02Speaker 3: you had some things, you had some traumas, but like
- 9:06Speaker 3: you didn't have anything that you were like, you know,
- 9:10Speaker 3: you where you're like, oh, you know, like my wife
- 9:12Speaker 3: passed away or like, you know, everything was just kind
- 9:15Speaker 3: of like, oh, I am looking for a spouse, like
- 9:19Speaker 3: you're just like Fresher. Yeah, And I will say I'm
- 9:22Speaker 3: not describing this well, No, you're doing fine.
- 9:25Speaker 2: I will say that when we're on the show, though,
- 9:28Speaker 2: there were some stories that like other men on The
- 9:31Speaker 2: Bachelorette that had and they would share that with us,
- 9:36Speaker 2: you know, kind of as we sat in the hotel
- 9:38Speaker 2: or sat in the house and it was just us.
- 9:39Speaker 2: The lead wasn't there, and they'd be like, yeah, you
- 9:41Speaker 2: know what, like my mom passed away like two months
- 9:44Speaker 2: ago and it's been really hard for me, but she
- 9:46Speaker 2: always wanted me to go on the show. And Caitlyn
- 9:48Speaker 2: wouldn't know that story yet. And so when they had
- 9:51Speaker 2: their one on one date, I will say one of
- 9:53Speaker 2: the cooler moments was when they would have their one
- 9:55Speaker 2: on one date and the guys would you know, be
- 9:58Speaker 2: kind of sitting around. We'd be like, hey, you're you
- 9:59Speaker 2: gonna have to share that with her tonight and they're like, yeah,
- 10:01Speaker 2: I am, it's going to be hard because you know,
- 10:04Speaker 2: I don't really want to cry on national television. We're like, hey,
- 10:06Speaker 2: you just got to go through it, like just do it,
- 10:07Speaker 2: Like she needs to know this, you need to like
- 10:09Speaker 2: talk about this. And it was this cool moment of support.
- 10:13Speaker 2: So the stories have always been known way before the
- 10:16Speaker 2: lead maybe even know Zone. And I think that's such
- 10:18Speaker 2: a fun part of this Golden Show so far is
- 10:21Speaker 2: we know these contestants better already than most of the
- 10:25Speaker 2: contestants on gen season because we've heard a lot of
- 10:27Speaker 2: their stories.
- 10:28Speaker 3: I just want to clarify it doesn't mean that you
- 10:31Speaker 3: have to have a sad story to be a great guy.
- 10:33Speaker 4: No, but we all have a story. You all have
- 10:35Speaker 4: a story.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Everybody has a story of some level at some capacity.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't have to have a sad, sappy background.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Just knowing their stories, like I just want to know
- 10:45Speaker 4: their stories.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 10:57Speaker 2: The show did a great job at that. These men
- 10:59Speaker 2: are as incredible as we thought they were through their pictures.
- 11:03Speaker 2: There is depth, there is a handsomeness, There is you
- 11:08Speaker 2: know this like suaveness to so many of them, and
- 11:11Speaker 2: then there's the big personalities, there's the fun personalities. There's
- 11:14Speaker 2: the personalities that you just love to have on these
- 11:16Speaker 2: seasons because they make everything a little bit better and
- 11:20Speaker 2: just having them there makes it a little more fun
- 11:22Speaker 2: to watch. So there is a great group I think
- 11:25Speaker 2: of men on Jones season at every you know, at
- 11:30Speaker 2: every level.
- 11:31Speaker 3: And before we get into the guys that really stood
- 11:34Speaker 3: out to us, let's talk about well, just let me
- 11:37Speaker 3: just make my own little comment. You know what this
- 11:39Speaker 3: show has been missing for so many years, the soft rock,
- 11:44Speaker 3: those soft rog hits like the one that we got
- 11:46Speaker 3: from Phil Collins slash I'm not sure it was Genis
- 11:49Speaker 3: sister Phil Collins in.
- 11:50Speaker 4: The beginning of the episode.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Those old jams really give you some feelings. And they
- 11:56Speaker 3: used to do that all the time, and now they've
- 11:59Speaker 3: a limited eliminated it, but they bring it back for
- 12:01Speaker 3: the golden part of the franchise, and I think we
- 12:04Speaker 3: need to infiltrate more of that music.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Into the show, into the main show.
- 12:09Speaker 3: I love it so much. Okay, guys, the first guy
- 12:14Speaker 3: out of the limo, he's he's quite the character. It's
- 12:17Speaker 3: Pascual Pascal Pascal. He's the Frenchman and normally I'm not
- 12:23Speaker 3: like swooned by a French accent, but he has it
- 12:26Speaker 3: like he's totally got it. And he owns a salon
- 12:29Speaker 3: slash medspa, which just tracks so perfectly for him. Look,
- 12:33Speaker 3: they're not gonna get married, he's not going to get
- 12:36Speaker 3: super duper far. I don't see them having a deep,
- 12:39Speaker 3: deep connection. But he's a really fun character for us.
- 12:41Speaker 4: I also will say some of the people that stood
- 12:43Speaker 4: out to me, I'll just name him.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Some of the names here, obviously Keith, who ends up
- 12:47Speaker 2: with the first impression, Rose Mark who obviously you probably
- 12:51Speaker 2: just Mark.
- 12:53Speaker 3: He gets better and better the more we see him.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Goodness Ashley just really is the fact that you don't
- 13:00Speaker 3: understand this is like, I understand it.
- 13:03Speaker 4: I understand it.
- 13:04Speaker 2: I go back to though, my comment weeks ago that
- 13:07Speaker 2: says this show is going to be a problem because
- 13:10Speaker 2: all these handsome older men are going to come out
- 13:12Speaker 2: there and all these eighteen to forty five years yeah,
- 13:17Speaker 2: and all these girls are gonna be like, goodness, gracious,
- 13:19Speaker 2: their dms are about to get dangerous.
- 13:22Speaker 4: I mean it, I'm worried for these guys.
- 13:24Speaker 2: They're gonna be like, I don't even know what a
- 13:27Speaker 2: thirst trap is and now of a sudden, I'm getting
- 13:29Speaker 2: pictures I never I don't want to see.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Listen, can we just talk Do you want to talk
- 13:34Speaker 3: about Mark an hour later?
- 13:36Speaker 2: We'll talk about Mark later. I really like Michael just
- 13:40Speaker 2: because he was nervous and I understand that.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Michael Michael nervous. Uh yeah, that was cute. I'm trying
- 13:47Speaker 3: to put a plate a face to the name because
- 13:49Speaker 3: a couple of them said they were nervous. I know
- 13:51Speaker 3: Jordan was super. Jordan was very subconscious about his nervous entrance,
- 13:58Speaker 3: which I saw him stumble, but it was like, no
- 14:01Speaker 3: big deal, No, it's fine.
- 14:03Speaker 4: The final person that I'll bring up just after.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Night one that stood out to me that I just
- 14:07Speaker 2: love and I want to hang out with, and it
- 14:09Speaker 2: just feels like so many of my best friends because
- 14:12Speaker 2: they just seem to make life a little bit more
- 14:14Speaker 2: fun is Jack. Jack has to get some credit here.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Jack is an amazing commentator. He has huge, just awesome energy,
- 14:23Speaker 2: he has confidence, he has swagger, and he is hilarious.
- 14:27Speaker 2: I want to know more about Jack. I want to
- 14:29Speaker 2: see more about Jack, and I hope Jack's around a while,
- 14:33Speaker 2: just because it does I feel like what I like
- 14:35Speaker 2: in Jack is He's not the type of guy that
- 14:38Speaker 2: would just say yes to going on this, Like he
- 14:40Speaker 2: took a little convincing and then he got there and
- 14:42Speaker 2: he's going to make the most of it. Like you know,
- 14:44Speaker 2: when we talk about on this show, I think it
- 14:45Speaker 2: took this.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Man a little convincing. I think he was like TV
- 14:49Speaker 3: is for me.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Sure, maybe that's true, dude, But you know when we
- 14:53Speaker 2: give the life Advice segment and we talked about be
- 14:56Speaker 2: where your feet are, it's such a good piece of advice.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Just be where your feet are at all times. It
- 15:01Speaker 2: helps you stay present. I feel like Jack's saying would
- 15:04Speaker 2: be be where my feet are and then make it
- 15:06Speaker 2: the best. And I think he's just gonna make this
- 15:08Speaker 2: so much fun. It might be annoying to some people
- 15:10Speaker 2: because he probably is having such a good time just
- 15:12Speaker 2: being there, but I don't care.
- 15:15Speaker 4: I like it.
- 15:17Speaker 3: I also like, I loved how he cooked for her,
- 15:20Speaker 3: so he's a caterer. He cooked for her for their
- 15:23Speaker 3: one on one time. That would have won me over
- 15:25Speaker 3: for sure. And then he's sang Sinatra coming out of
- 15:29Speaker 3: the limo and he's like, well, there are my two
- 15:31Speaker 3: talents singing and cooking. Yeah, he's really fun. I again
- 15:35Speaker 3: don't think that they're like gonna be endgame, but he's
- 15:38Speaker 3: a great character for us to watch. Love it And Okay,
- 15:42Speaker 3: so for me, I liked Chalk, who has the weirdest name,
- 15:47Speaker 3: but brought her chok noodle soup chicken noodle soup because
- 15:50Speaker 3: she's known for her chicken noodle soup. And he just
- 15:54Speaker 3: had a really nice comming demeanor.
- 15:56Speaker 4: Yeah. Sure.
- 15:57Speaker 3: I also of course loved Jonathan, who is a hottie.
- 16:02Speaker 3: He is the one who's divorced. He has two kids.
- 16:05Speaker 3: His kids look on the younger side. He's sixty one
- 16:08Speaker 3: at the same age he he just seems like full package.
- 16:12Speaker 4: He what about God Like, he's a pretty handsome man.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Guy's kind of weird to me. Guy is he he's
- 16:18Speaker 3: the the ear doctor, right, Yeah, he's a little he's
- 16:22Speaker 3: a little u. Yes, they're all handsome. He's very good looking,
- 16:27Speaker 3: but he's a little he's a little awkward. Right now,
- 16:30Speaker 3: we'll see it. Keith, Okay, we'll talk about Keith. He
- 16:33Speaker 3: comes in with the station waggage with the luggage dropped
- 16:35Speaker 3: on top. He is from Jose, California. He's been a
- 16:38Speaker 3: single dad for twelve years. You were talking earlier about
- 16:40Speaker 3: how his wife had problems with addiction, so let him
- 16:44Speaker 3: be like just the primary parent for the past twelve years,
- 16:47Speaker 3: has three girls, and again liked his demeanor, and obviously
- 16:52Speaker 3: so did Joan as he got the first impression Rose
- 16:57Speaker 3: there is a warmth to him. I see him getting
- 17:00Speaker 3: pretty far. There's a lot of girl dads in this bunch.
- 17:04Speaker 3: There was the guy from Florida was another girl dad
- 17:07Speaker 3: that I really felt connected to. His name is slipping
- 17:12Speaker 3: me right now.
- 17:12Speaker 4: But oh Dan.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Dan loved Dan and he adopted his first child and
- 17:20Speaker 3: was a single dad for fourteen years. Really I really
- 17:24Speaker 3: liked him. But yeah, let's see anybody else before I
- 17:29Speaker 3: can move on to you know, my fave Mark who actually,
- 17:32Speaker 3: to be honest, Dan and Jonathan are up there with
- 17:35Speaker 3: Mark for me, but I think.
- 17:37Speaker 4: That Mark is just hold up, hold up, let me
- 17:39Speaker 4: pause here this.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I just want to take a second for all the
- 17:42Speaker 2: listeners and highlight my just the best co host possible
- 17:49Speaker 2: for the last eight years. Did you do you hear
- 17:52Speaker 2: what she just did? She goes, is there anybody else
- 17:55Speaker 2: been before we talk about Mark? And then she just
- 17:58Speaker 2: starts talking about Mark. She just it's going she cannot
- 18:01Speaker 2: help herself. Literally, she brings it up, like, Hey, is
- 18:05Speaker 2: there anybody else that really stands out to you, Ben,
- 18:07Speaker 2: because I really have this person I want to talk about,
- 18:09Speaker 2: and then she just goes by the way. Mark's amazing
- 18:12Speaker 2: and he's awesome, but there are some people that shocked
- 18:14Speaker 2: me that kind of got to it's just absolutely incredible
- 18:18Speaker 2: when Ashley, she's just so easy to read. I know
- 18:21Speaker 2: you want to talk about Mark so bad, and I
- 18:23Speaker 2: just want to pause you on that because I think
- 18:27Speaker 2: Gary and Charles k also are like would stand out
- 18:31Speaker 2: to me from this episode. I think they'll be around
- 18:34Speaker 2: a while. I think they're gonna be big characters this
- 18:38Speaker 2: season and I really like them. Now, Ashley, the floor
- 18:43Speaker 2: is yours. You can take your next twenty minutes and
- 18:46Speaker 2: talk about Mark.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Well, Ben, I want to mention that Gary is the
- 18:49Speaker 3: life of the party. I enjoy watching him as well.
- 18:52Speaker 3: He's going to be so fun And when his daughter
- 18:55Speaker 3: came on screen with his grandchild, adorable. That whole segment
- 19:00Speaker 3: is so so sweet.
- 19:01Speaker 4: Yeah, you can't do that to me.
- 19:02Speaker 3: Yeah, I know this is rude, it's so evil.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't make me cry watching this show. Like
- 19:08Speaker 2: that's it's so stupid for me to still be crying
- 19:12Speaker 2: watching a bachelor show at this point in my life.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Yet somehow they got me again. And when like that
- 19:19Speaker 2: came up, that little segment happened, like there's just tears
- 19:23Speaker 2: of joy coming down my face and like tears of
- 19:26Speaker 2: sentiment and love, and it's like this is I literally
- 19:29Speaker 2: sat here and they're like, this is the stupidest thing,
- 19:31Speaker 2: Like the show can't keep doing this to me.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Sentiment is a word that I should use more often
- 19:35Speaker 3: on this podcast. It makes a lot of sense. Okay,
- 19:48Speaker 3: But ben that video segment, it would have been great
- 19:52Speaker 3: for the opening of episode two, like, hey, guys, you
- 19:55Speaker 3: made it through the row ceremony. Now let's see who's
- 19:58Speaker 3: missing you back at home. You've been gone for a
- 20:00Speaker 3: few more days. But it was like, hey, guys, you
- 20:04Speaker 3: just saw everybody like five days ago, you know, because
- 20:08Speaker 3: I'm in the hotel for like four or five days.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Let's show this video right before I eliminate like five
- 20:13Speaker 3: of you. Yeah, that was tough, but it was all
- 20:16Speaker 3: for the storytelling.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Okay.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Yeah, So so Mark is it? Okay? I can talk
- 20:22Speaker 3: about Mark right now. Yes, Yeah, So he's fifty seven,
- 20:26Speaker 3: so they really made an exception for him because he
- 20:29Speaker 3: was Kelsey's dad. They also totally made that exception because
- 20:33Speaker 3: they want him to be the next Golden Bachelor if
- 20:37Speaker 3: he is not the winner of this. And we see
- 20:40Speaker 3: from the scenes in the next episode that at some
- 20:44Speaker 3: point Jones says I love you Mark. But my theory
- 20:49Speaker 3: is that, I mean, she could say this as like
- 20:52Speaker 3: an endearing thing in her top three or whatnot, saying
- 20:56Speaker 3: like I love you because I love you as a person.
- 21:00Speaker 3: I love you, but you're not the one. I don't
- 21:03Speaker 3: know that they would really put that in there if
- 21:05Speaker 3: he really was the final one. So I'm actually going
- 21:09Speaker 3: to say that he might not be the final one,
- 21:10Speaker 3: but he's definitely going far and he's definitely going to
- 21:14Speaker 3: be the next Golden Bachelor if he's not the winner.
- 21:17Speaker 4: Actually, do you find him handsome?
- 21:20Speaker 3: Of course, he is so handsome, But it's his demeanor, Ben,
- 21:24Speaker 3: I know I keep using that word. There's something about
- 21:27Speaker 3: his presence, but there was a couple guys that had
- 21:30Speaker 3: very similar presences. But it's the combination. And I also
- 21:35Speaker 3: just trust him because he's Kelsey's dad too. You know.
- 21:38Speaker 2: We feel like when you see Mark on television. Do
- 21:41Speaker 2: you just get a little like tingly.
- 21:43Speaker 3: No, you mean Tinkley in the heart, just like giddy? Yeah, warm, warm,
- 21:50Speaker 3: he's warm. Yeah, he sounds a little dirty. Oh is
- 21:55Speaker 3: that what you're referring to? No, so okay, I thought
- 21:59Speaker 3: you were trying to get dirty for a second.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Goodness, Ashley, we've done this for eight years. When it
- 22:03Speaker 2: was the last time I tried to get dirty, When
- 22:05Speaker 2: it was the last time I tried to say, you
- 22:06Speaker 2: have to say something that weird, I was like giddy.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Good No, no, no, he's no. I just I just
- 22:13Speaker 3: you find he is a true diamond in the rough.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Not that this is a rough batch. It's definitely not
- 22:20Speaker 3: that they're all golden diamonds in the rough or whatever.
- 22:23Speaker 3: But yeah, but he is. He's a TV star, guys,
- 22:27Speaker 3: he's a little He's a Nicholas Sparks character in like
- 22:30Speaker 3: an older Oh, it's like Knights of Rodanthe If you
- 22:34Speaker 3: guys remember the one with Diane Lane and Richard Gear.
- 22:37Speaker 3: It was like the Nicholas Sparks older version, and it's
- 22:41Speaker 3: it is pretty much better than a lot of the
- 22:44Speaker 3: other younger versions of his mind stories.
- 22:46Speaker 2: But yeah, okay, bye, before you say something weird, Let's
- 22:51Speaker 2: continue on. It is an incredible group of men. I'm
- 22:56Speaker 2: so excited for this season. I don't I don't just
- 22:58Speaker 2: say that to say, like, I think this is going
- 23:01Speaker 2: to be an incredible season of emotion. It's going to
- 23:05Speaker 2: be an incredible season of story. It's going to be
- 23:07Speaker 2: incredible to see the arc of Joan's journey. And I'm
- 23:10Speaker 2: really excited is the wrong word here. I'm very happy
- 23:18Speaker 2: that Joan is given the space to be honest about
- 23:21Speaker 2: her emotions along this journey. That she's struggling now and
- 23:25Speaker 2: she feels guilty. I think that's probably going to be
- 23:28Speaker 2: very relatable to many, and I also think it's just
- 23:31Speaker 2: a very real feeling. And I'm really excited that she
- 23:34Speaker 2: is taking the space to say it, you know, because
- 23:37Speaker 2: I think it gives these men whoever are left at
- 23:40Speaker 2: that point a chance to step in and not console her,
- 23:44Speaker 2: but speak with her about it, ask her questions about it,
- 23:46Speaker 2: give her confidence within it. I think that's going to
- 23:50Speaker 2: be a really powerful time. Whenever that episode airs or
- 23:54Speaker 2: however long that kind of feeling exists for her. But
- 23:58Speaker 2: it's a real feeling, and what you and I I
- 24:00Speaker 2: always talk about on this show is we want authenticity
- 24:03Speaker 2: and we want genuineness. I think we got it from Jin.
- 24:07Speaker 2: I don't think we got it from anybody else on
- 24:08Speaker 2: her season. I think those two things were very much missing.
- 24:13Speaker 2: But I think when it comes to this journey with Joan,
- 24:16Speaker 2: authenticity and genuineness are going to be there the whole time,
- 24:21Speaker 2: which I think the Golden Show needs because obviously the
- 24:24Speaker 2: last season of The Golden did not end well, did
- 24:28Speaker 2: not go well, and I think Jen feeling like she
- 24:32Speaker 2: can or Joan feeling like she can admit this and
- 24:34Speaker 2: talk about this publicly with these this group of men,
- 24:38Speaker 2: will build even a deeper connection with whoever she ends
- 24:40Speaker 2: up with at the end, if she ends up with somebody.
- 24:42Speaker 2: So I'm very excited Ashley here in the final minutes,
- 24:48Speaker 2: let's talk about the scenes for the rest of the season.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Your thoughts, your predictions, your feelings.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Okay, So besides the I Love You mark, what stood
- 24:56Speaker 3: out was well, Gary makes an appearance, which I wasn't
- 24:59Speaker 3: sure we're going to say, just because his story did
- 25:02Speaker 3: end kind of odd. I also thought that it was
- 25:07Speaker 3: interesting the way that there's somewhere in the season where
- 25:11Speaker 3: she's like, eh, maybe I'm not ready for this. Maybe
- 25:14Speaker 3: my person isn't here. I'm always going to feel like
- 25:19Speaker 3: this angling of guilt about dating anyone after my husband.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Totally relatable phase that she seems to go through. But
- 25:26Speaker 3: it does seem that she ends up with somebody because
- 25:28Speaker 3: she goes. Up until this point in life, I'd only
- 25:30Speaker 3: loved one person, and now I love too. So I
- 25:35Speaker 3: think that she does end up with somebody in the end,
- 25:37Speaker 3: but I'm sure they're going to try to make it
- 25:39Speaker 3: seem like she doesn't. We don't see any like engagement.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Preview because I ruined it for him. They can't keep
- 25:46Speaker 2: showing it because I know who it is. Remember with Devin,
- 25:48Speaker 2: I said, Oh, that's definitely Devin.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Yeah, that's right, you're arking at that. Yeah, I'm gonna
- 25:55Speaker 3: say I would really love her not to get engaged.
- 26:00Speaker 3: I just think that it's like after the passing of
- 26:04Speaker 3: a spouse of thirty three years, to get engaged to
- 26:08Speaker 3: somebody after six weeks, four to six weeks of knowing them.
- 26:13Speaker 3: I just think it's nice to actually not and especially
- 26:15Speaker 3: after we saw what happened with Gary and Teresa, let's
- 26:18Speaker 3: just make them a really happy couple.
- 26:21Speaker 2: You would be okay, with that, so you would still celebrate. Yeah, okay, cool.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Final comment I have agreed with everything you said is
- 26:30Speaker 2: where in the world are they at at the end
- 26:31Speaker 2: of this season?
- 26:32Speaker 4: Because where the clouds are in the clouds? The pool
- 26:36Speaker 4: is above the clouds. Yeah, where is that? That's cool?
- 26:40Speaker 3: That was the coolest they could Why haven't they done this?
- 26:45Speaker 3: They just found this place? Now they should always have
- 26:48Speaker 3: a finale in the clouds.
- 26:49Speaker 2: It's amazing, Heaven. It's going to be such a fun season.
- 26:55Speaker 2: I cannot wait to keep talking about it with Ashley.
- 26:58Speaker 2: It's I think just the excitement towards this Golden Show
- 27:02Speaker 2: has not at all gone away from me, and I
- 27:05Speaker 2: know it hasn't gone away from Ashley, and this is
- 27:07Speaker 2: gonna be just an incredible season again, so happy for
- 27:10Speaker 2: Joan an incredible choice. I will say this with confidence.
- 27:14Speaker 2: We should all just one hundred percent get behind Joan.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Like I know that maybe some people were jaded after
- 27:20Speaker 2: the last season, knowing Joan being around Joan, It's going
- 27:27Speaker 2: to be incredible and it's going to be something special
- 27:29Speaker 2: and we should just celebrate the fact that all these
- 27:31Speaker 2: men showed up and that she showed up for our entertainment.
- 27:37Speaker 2: And also for their love story. So until next week
- 27:40Speaker 2: when we break down the second episode of The Golden Bachelorette,
- 27:43Speaker 2: which were so pumped for.
- 27:44Speaker 4: I've Been Ben, I have Been Ashley Bye.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Followed the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast on
