- 1:28Speaker 2: For today's episode, I am sitting down with Rebecca Price.
- 1:33Speaker 2: She is a meditation and yoga teacher as well as
- 1:37Speaker 2: a Nike Global trainer. And I know I told you
- 1:41Speaker 2: that Minaje has the most relaxing voice, but I don't know.
- 1:47Speaker 2: It's a toss up between the two of these. I
- 1:50Speaker 2: am so happy that we were able to connect recently
- 1:53Speaker 2: when she was in town. It always brings me so
- 1:55Speaker 2: much joy to be able to have these conversations I are.
- 2:01Speaker 2: In today's chat, Rebecca gets really candid about the difficult
- 2:06Speaker 2: hurdle she's overcome over the last year, including the unexpected
- 2:10Speaker 2: loss of her brother. She talks about grief and how
- 2:14Speaker 2: every time that we grieve it may look different and
- 2:17Speaker 2: there's a certain level of grace that goes hand in
- 2:20Speaker 2: hand with that. We also connect on the topic of
- 2:24Speaker 2: chosen family and how beautiful it can be if we
- 2:27Speaker 2: allow ourselves to let other people show up for us,
- 2:32Speaker 2: something that can be hard in practice. Plus truly, just
- 2:37Speaker 2: so many really beautiful takeaways and again, just happy to
- 2:42Speaker 2: end this really great week of content with Rebecca highlight
- 2:49Speaker 2: hurdles most listened to week of the show. Ever, I
- 2:53Speaker 2: cannot believe it so that would be possible without all

- 2:58Speaker 2: thank you for helping me start off twenty twenty three
- 3:02Speaker 2: on a great foot. Make sure you're following along with
- 3:05Speaker 2: Hurdle over on social It's at Hurdle Podcast. I am
- 3:07Speaker 2: over at Emily a body and with that, let's get
- 3:12Speaker 2: to it. Let's get to hurdling today. I'm sitting back
- 3:27Speaker 2: down with my dear friend Rebecca Price. How are you doing.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I'm doing well. How about you?
- 3:33Speaker 2: I'm good. I you know, when I was thinking about
- 3:37Speaker 2: like making the list of people that I wanted to
- 3:39Speaker 2: sit down with for this episode, like I was just
- 3:42Speaker 2: remembering how calm and content and like, I just you
- 3:47Speaker 2: walked out of my apartment the studio, you walked out
- 3:50Speaker 2: of the studio when we recorded, And you know that's
- 3:53Speaker 2: saying I think about how you feel when somebody leaves you.
- 3:56Speaker 2: I was like, oh, yeah, yeah, I need to feel
- 3:59Speaker 2: that way again.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I felt that way too when I left. I felt
- 4:03Speaker 1: like I was really appreciative of the fact of being
- 4:05Speaker 1: able to like talk about stuff, and it provided me
- 4:10Speaker 1: in a different opportunity to allow people to see me
- 4:12Speaker 1: differently too as well. And I really was appreciative of that,
- 4:16Speaker 1: and I left here like smiling. I was like, oh
- 4:17Speaker 1: my god, I can't wait for it to drop.
- 4:19Speaker 2: It's gonna be so good. Like yeah, so I love that.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Wait so when it did drop, did you get lots
- 4:25Speaker 2: of positive feedback?
- 4:26Speaker 3: Yes?
- 4:27Speaker 2: I did. I love hearing that.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I received a lot of positive feedback. A lot
- 4:31Speaker 1: of people were just like kind of also appreciated my
- 4:35Speaker 1: vulnerability totally and even just I received like random dms
- 4:40Speaker 1: from people I don't know who were just like thank
- 4:42Speaker 1: you for that, and thank you for talking about what
- 4:44Speaker 1: you talked about. It was just a really nice feeling
- 4:47Speaker 1: after having done that and just allowing myself to hold
- 4:50Speaker 1: space a little differently than how people typically see me.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Show up exactly because when we sat down the last time,
- 4:56Speaker 2: you talked a lot about navigating a lot of different
- 4:59Speaker 2: health strug. How are you feeling lately?
- 5:01Speaker 1: I'm feeling well. Like I'm feeling well. I feel I
- 5:04Speaker 1: spent a lot of time really focusing and taking care
- 5:08Speaker 1: of myself over like especially the summer and after the summer,
- 5:12Speaker 1: so I'm feeling really great. I'm still struggling with, like,
- 5:16Speaker 1: you know, figuring out hormonal issues just because I'm officially
- 5:20Speaker 1: post menopausal. I didn't know. I didn't know that really
- 5:24Speaker 1: was a term until now. And so like, I'm just
- 5:26Speaker 1: trying to figure out what that looks like and feels
- 5:28Speaker 1: like in my body, because my body is definitely, you know,
- 5:32Speaker 1: different than where it was a couple of years ago,
- 5:34Speaker 1: and just adjusting to those changes. So that's been interesting.
- 5:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, when do you say different, Like hot flashes? Yeah,
- 5:43Speaker 3: there are things you might not know about this yet
- 5:48Speaker 3: hot flashes.
- 5:49Speaker 1: And I remember my doctor telling me, she's like, hey,
- 5:51Speaker 1: these are the challenges that you may face once you
- 5:54Speaker 1: have this iss directing me because she's like, you're young,
- 5:56Speaker 1: and I was like, yeah, I get it, but whatever,
- 5:58Speaker 1: And now, like flashes are real, like, like night sweats
- 6:03Speaker 1: are real like, and so just kind of learning how
- 6:06Speaker 1: to navigate that space, and then also just trying to
- 6:09Speaker 1: find like helpful information because I'm not like in my
- 6:13Speaker 1: fifties or sixties, right, And so that's the other challenge
- 6:17Speaker 1: is just finding accessible information. And I'm like exploring like
- 6:21Speaker 1: different teas and different like tinctures or like flower essences
- 6:26Speaker 1: and just looking at different ways that I could approach
- 6:30Speaker 1: creating more of a sense of calm. I feel like
- 6:33Speaker 1: there's a little bit more of a higher level of
- 6:35Speaker 1: anxiety that comes along with being postmonopozzle, like and then
- 6:39Speaker 1: you know, just just being really mindful of the deficit
- 6:43Speaker 1: that my body is operating in as opposed to like
- 6:46Speaker 1: how it would normally be if I didn't have hysterectomy.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Right, right, So lots of lots of new territories right
- 6:53Speaker 2: the gate. Right, Oh my goodness, Well good on you.
- 6:56Speaker 2: And I'm sure that a lot of the things that
- 6:57Speaker 2: you're speaking of, especially searching in different remedies that might
- 7:01Speaker 2: work for your body, these are things that so many women,
- 7:04Speaker 2: if they're not already like dealing with that and listening
- 7:07Speaker 2: to this right now, like we will all get there.
- 7:09Speaker 1: So it's like, oh man, yeah, I think I remember
- 7:13Speaker 1: having my first hot flash and I was like, wow,
- 7:15Speaker 1: this is really a thing. And I called my friend
- 7:18Speaker 1: and I was just like, this is really a thing,
- 7:20Speaker 1: like just like the sweat and it was just like
- 7:22Speaker 1: really random and it just came out of nowhere. And
- 7:24Speaker 1: so now I'm a little bit more used to that
- 7:26Speaker 1: and just trying to think of different ways to be
- 7:28Speaker 1: able to like what does my bedtime routine look like?
- 7:31Speaker 1: Because I have a tendency to wake up like at
- 7:34Speaker 1: like two three in the morning, so must trying to
- 7:36Speaker 1: really master that. I got a infrared sauna blanket.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Oh I love that. Yeah, yeah, So.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I've been incorporating that in my nighttime routine. So that's
- 7:45Speaker 1: been pretty like helpful.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Nice, nice, Okay, So we are navigating this new chapter
- 7:52Speaker 2: of life. We're also here today to talk about the
- 7:56Speaker 2: year in review and talk to me a little bit
- 7:59Speaker 2: about how twenty two really treated you, So how to
- 8:04Speaker 2: treat you?
- 8:07Speaker 1: Twenty twenty two was a very interesting year. I felt
- 8:13Speaker 1: like the year was a year that kind of allowed
- 8:16Speaker 1: me to figure out different ways to understand the lessons.
- 8:22Speaker 1: So like every time I was met with a challenge,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I cuts on asking myself, like, what is the lesson?
- 8:28Speaker 1: There's a lesson in here for me to learn. In October,
- 8:31Speaker 1: my brother passed away from a drug overdose. So I
- 8:34Speaker 1: have been struggling with a lot of grief and holding
- 8:37Speaker 1: space for grief, and he was my only remaining like relative.
- 8:42Speaker 1: So I'm also struggling with this whole entire idea like
- 8:45Speaker 1: what does that mean for me? And what does that
- 8:47Speaker 1: look like? But also allowing myself to know and understand
- 8:52Speaker 1: that like grief is just like healing, it's not a
- 8:58Speaker 1: linear path. And some days you have good day, some
- 9:00Speaker 1: days you have bad days, and that like you're allowed
- 9:03Speaker 1: to be messy and hold space for yourself and feel
- 9:06Speaker 1: and feel all those kinds of feelings. So there's moments
- 9:08Speaker 1: that I feel joy. My brother and I also had
- 9:12Speaker 1: a very strange relationship at times, just because he had
- 9:15Speaker 1: addiction issues and mental health issues, and so my last
- 9:18Speaker 1: conversation with him was very like we had a fight.
- 9:22Speaker 1: And you know the guilt that I feel around not
- 9:24Speaker 1: being able to say that I love you to him
- 9:28Speaker 1: or to let him know that regardless of how people
- 9:31Speaker 1: saw him, like he was more than his addiction, he
- 9:34Speaker 1: was a person. And so now in his death, I
- 9:36Speaker 1: feel like I struggle with that a lot for people,
- 9:38Speaker 1: because unless you've lived with someone who's had addiction issues,
- 9:42Speaker 1: it's very hard for them to understand. So it has
- 9:48Speaker 1: shaped up to allowing me to see the different ways
- 9:51Speaker 1: in which my work can shift and change, like how
- 9:54Speaker 1: do we hold space for like those important conversations that
- 9:57Speaker 1: we talked about before around mental health. I always tell people, well,
- 10:00Speaker 1: like everybody has different ways of coping, right, some people
- 10:02Speaker 1: excessively over like exercise, some people like shop, some people
- 10:07Speaker 1: use substances. Right, it's all there to kind of, you know,
- 10:12Speaker 1: help with the inner wounds and traumas and that we
- 10:16Speaker 1: all are dealing with on a daily basis, whether we
- 10:20Speaker 1: choose to address it or not.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:23Speaker 1: So I feel like I started off twenty twenty two
- 10:28Speaker 1: like calling in so many things, like how I wanted
- 10:33Speaker 1: relationships to be for me, how I wanted to show
- 10:36Speaker 1: up in terms of like a parent and a friend.
- 10:40Speaker 1: And you know, I'm ending off that year with an
- 10:44Speaker 1: understanding of like embracing all the challenges or the hurdles
- 10:49Speaker 1: for what they are and learning that there's always a
- 10:52Speaker 1: lesson behind everything.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks for sharing that. I think one of the
- 10:58Speaker 2: most interesting things about grief is that we may grieve
- 11:01Speaker 2: one way for one challenge or hurdle, but a completely
- 11:06Speaker 2: other way for another challenge or hurdle. So for you
- 11:12Speaker 2: this time around, what would you say is one of
- 11:15Speaker 2: the lessons that you've learned about yourself through grieving.
- 11:21Speaker 1: I've learned that it's okay to say to people you're
- 11:25Speaker 1: not as strong as I think you are, Like I
- 11:27Speaker 1: don't need to show up in the space and be resilient.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I think when I found out my brother passed, I
- 11:33Speaker 1: remember sending a to do list to my best friend
- 11:37Speaker 1: and my cousin, and I was so focused on like
- 11:42Speaker 1: checking off all those boxes like this, he died in
- 11:45Speaker 1: a different province or state, whatever and so, and he
- 11:49Speaker 1: was also an immense transitional home. So there's a lot
- 11:52Speaker 1: of layers to his passing. And so I just had
- 11:56Speaker 1: this list that I was trying to check it off,
- 11:58Speaker 1: and I'm going to do this, and it's got to
- 11:59Speaker 1: be done by this time. And things didn't go the
- 12:03Speaker 1: way that I thought they were, and I felt okay
- 12:07Speaker 1: with that too. And I also learned how to slow
- 12:10Speaker 1: down and step back and just also have been in
- 12:14Speaker 1: this space of like I'm not as strong as everybody
- 12:17Speaker 1: likes to think I am. Today, I just want to
- 12:19Speaker 1: lie in bed and cry. And I'm okay with that.
- 12:22Speaker 1: And you know, it has allowed me to explore the
- 12:27Speaker 1: idea of like I always talk to people about like
- 12:29Speaker 1: leaning into your feelings, but like all those feelings right,
- 12:33Speaker 1: and like the ebbs and flows of like those in
- 12:35Speaker 1: between spaces of what that means for me too as
- 12:38Speaker 1: well has been really interesting. And so I think though
- 12:41Speaker 1: that is probably the major takeaway that I've taken away
- 12:45Speaker 1: from that is the fact that I'm allowing myself to
- 12:49Speaker 1: be messy, which is really hard for someone like me.
- 12:52Speaker 1: But I'm allowing myself to be messy and sitting in
- 12:55Speaker 1: that space of being okay with how that meant seeness
- 13:00Speaker 1: feels like for me at that time.
- 13:03Speaker 2: What I hear you say is the importance the importance
- 13:06Speaker 2: of also leaning into grace and feeling the mess. I
- 13:14Speaker 2: think there's a difference between allowing yourself to be messy
- 13:19Speaker 2: and feeling the mess, because we can all show up
- 13:25Speaker 2: like a proverbial hot mess, right, Like, we can all
- 13:27Speaker 2: feel like a hot mess at times, but maybe not
- 13:30Speaker 2: like actually sit in the like actual feeling of the
- 13:34Speaker 2: fact that it feels like our world may be collapsing
- 13:37Speaker 2: around us. But what happens if you allow yourself to
- 13:41Speaker 2: just feel not okay? Right? And that is so scary.
- 13:44Speaker 2: It's so scary to feel not okay because we have
- 13:48Speaker 2: been my gosh, like just instilled from society that you
- 13:55Speaker 2: have to be and you have to put on a
- 13:57Speaker 2: brave face and you have to show up and do
- 13:59Speaker 2: this and do that. And what happens if you don't.
- 14:02Speaker 1: And I think that's that idea of like extending yourself
- 14:05Speaker 1: that compassion, right like grace is essentially like compassion towards yourself.
- 14:10Speaker 1: And so like, just you know, I have like I
- 14:16Speaker 1: have to get my brother's belongings, and so I called
- 14:18Speaker 1: a friend and I called my cousin to be like, hey, like,
- 14:20Speaker 1: I can't open this box on my own. Yeah, I
- 14:23Speaker 1: need someone here with me like that, you know what
- 14:25Speaker 1: I mean. And I would have never done that before.
- 14:28Speaker 1: And even like sitting with him right, like he had
- 14:32Speaker 1: to be cremated to like sitting with him instead of
- 14:36Speaker 1: rushing through the process of like I'm gonna bring him
- 14:39Speaker 1: back to Jamaica and spread his ashes, and he's sitting
- 14:41Speaker 1: with us for a while and learning how to renegotiate
- 14:46Speaker 1: what that relationship could look like between him and I
- 14:48Speaker 1: two as well, and so like I feel like I'm
- 14:50Speaker 1: in this really joyous space too, as well as as
- 14:54Speaker 1: sad as it seems to be, because I also know
- 14:58Speaker 1: and understand that my brother's in a better place, right, Like,
- 15:00Speaker 1: my brother's no longer suffering, my brother is no longer
- 15:04Speaker 1: facing challenges. He's in a place where he can finally
- 15:08Speaker 1: be at peace and at rest, and at first I
- 15:10Speaker 1: kind of like struggled with that. I also struggle with
- 15:13Speaker 1: the fact of like getting good news in a moment
- 15:15Speaker 1: of sadness, but also understanding that like I'm deserving of
- 15:19Speaker 1: whatever the situation presents itself to me as and so, like,
- 15:25Speaker 1: you know, I think that the beauty for me has
- 15:28Speaker 1: been embracing the graciousness and like being graceful about it
- 15:34Speaker 1: too as well. Yeah, because it's helped a lot immensely.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Yeah, And you said you reached out to a good
- 15:43Speaker 2: friend at one point, and you mentioned him being you know,
- 15:47Speaker 2: your last relative so to speak. What does chosen family
- 15:51Speaker 2: look like for you?
- 15:54Speaker 1: Everything? Chils and family have been my life flying. I
- 16:02Speaker 1: had already started from before, from my previous challenges in
- 16:06Speaker 1: the hurdles, like worked on trying to cultivate a community.
- 16:10Speaker 1: For me, everything is about community, showing up as community,
- 16:14Speaker 1: being in community with each other's like a form of
- 16:16Speaker 1: community care. So for me, it was really important to
- 16:20Speaker 1: really lean into them. And so my chosen family has
- 16:24Speaker 1: been the reason why I'm getting through this the way
- 16:28Speaker 1: that I am with so much grace, because they're also
- 16:31Speaker 1: allowing me to have grace, right, They're like, you know,
- 16:35Speaker 1: They'll do simple things like call me, be like did
- 16:37Speaker 1: you eat today? I'm like, did I shoot?
- 16:40Speaker 2: I didn't?
- 16:41Speaker 1: Right? Like, you know, help me with like help with
- 16:43Speaker 1: my kids getting to and from school, you know, just
- 16:47Speaker 1: come and sit with me, just like hold space with
- 16:50Speaker 1: me in terms of like whatever you want to say,
- 16:52Speaker 1: let's just talk about it, Like if you want to cry, cry,
- 16:55Speaker 1: They've actively encouraged me to like hold space for all
- 16:59Speaker 1: the different kinds of feelings and emotions that I'm going through.
- 17:02Speaker 1: And I don't necessarily feel like I would be sitting
- 17:05Speaker 1: here if it wasn't for my chosen family right now.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Yeah, Wow, how lucky are you truly to have these
- 17:14Speaker 2: people in your life that are truly there for you?
- 17:17Speaker 2: And it is just exemplary that chosen or perhaps blood
- 17:23Speaker 2: related family can play a really big role in our
- 17:27Speaker 2: lives and that we do have the opportunity to choose
- 17:32Speaker 2: people right to look to others and treat them as
- 17:36Speaker 2: if they were what for whatever higher power you may
- 17:40Speaker 2: believe in, like what was gifted to you from the get.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Go one percent. And I also I had put on
- 17:47Speaker 1: Instagram when my brother had passed and someone had sent
- 17:50Speaker 1: me a DM just saying like you know, a really
- 17:54Speaker 1: beautiful DM and then they were like at the end, like,
- 17:58Speaker 1: allow us this community to show for you, because you
- 18:00Speaker 1: show up for us so many times. And I was
- 18:03Speaker 1: just like, you know what, that's true and I shouldn't
- 18:07Speaker 1: feel awkward about that, right. They're like, you hold space
- 18:11Speaker 1: for so many different people, doing so many different things,
- 18:14Speaker 1: and now allow us to hold space for you. So
- 18:17Speaker 1: what do you need? Like, you know, and I've had
- 18:19Speaker 1: people like do beautiful things like send me flowers, but
- 18:23Speaker 1: I've also had people like my friend sent me a
- 18:26Speaker 1: sleep kit, right because I was like, I'm having problems sleeping,
- 18:28Speaker 1: Like I've just had beautiful experience as like a friend
- 18:32Speaker 1: sent me an oracle deck, right, Like of just being
- 18:36Speaker 1: able to feel supported by people who like love me,
- 18:40Speaker 1: who know me, love me, and then people who love
- 18:43Speaker 1: me but don't like know me, but still love me,
- 18:45Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And that has been really
- 18:47Speaker 1: beautiful because then that goes back to that whole entire
- 18:49Speaker 1: idea of like showing up in community as a practice
- 18:52Speaker 1: in community care, and it has been very touching. And
- 18:56Speaker 1: you know, I just want to say thank you to
- 18:59Speaker 1: like everybody because I recognize the blessing and I don't
- 19:06Speaker 1: take that for granted.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Taking a break to tell you about this series first
- 19:15Speaker 2: sponsor Future Now, if you are a dedicated listener, you've
- 19:19Speaker 2: heard me rave about my experience with the Future app,

- 19:36Speaker 2: roadmap and a trusted colot. Speaking of trustee co pilots,

- 22:09Speaker 2: back to the episode you mentioned, you know, getting that
- 22:21Speaker 2: DM with that really beautiful sentiment at the end and
- 22:24Speaker 2: offering advice yourself about having grace with ourselves When you
- 22:29Speaker 2: think about the past three sixty five, does any other
- 22:33Speaker 2: advice really resonate with you to help you on this
- 22:36Speaker 2: journey over the past year.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I think the other advice would be just not being
- 22:43Speaker 1: so humble, like it's so interesting, because I have a
- 22:47Speaker 1: tendency to like you know as much as I say,
- 22:51Speaker 1: use your voice. I also kind of I'm very acutely
- 22:53Speaker 1: aware of how much space I can take up sometimes,
- 22:56Speaker 1: and so it was really nice to have people remind
- 23:02Speaker 1: me that like you just be all in the fullness
- 23:06Speaker 1: of who you are. You know, I think a couple
- 23:10Speaker 1: of times for me, imposter syndrome showed up a lot
- 23:12Speaker 1: this year for some odd reason, which was really weird.
- 23:14Speaker 1: But you know, why do you say it like that?
- 23:17Speaker 1: Why is it weird? Well, it was just because you know,
- 23:20Speaker 1: I spend so much time unpacking so many things in
- 23:23Speaker 1: relation to like community and like having conversations that it
- 23:27Speaker 1: just felt really weird. Where I too worked on like
- 23:31Speaker 1: questioning my own worthiness. I went back to therapy, and
- 23:37Speaker 1: so my therapist was like, oh, where does this come from?
- 23:39Speaker 1: When we unpacked? You know, some wounds from you know,
- 23:42Speaker 1: being young, younger, and and you know, it was just
- 23:47Speaker 1: really interesting to see that sometimes you still question your
- 23:51Speaker 1: worth no matter how people might see you as being successful,
- 23:56Speaker 1: You're still questioning, like am I worthy of this?
- 24:00Speaker 2: Do?
- 24:00Speaker 1: What? Am I deserving of this? Like you know, how
- 24:04Speaker 1: do I get here? Like all those kinds of things.
- 24:06Speaker 1: And so I feel like, you know, one of the
- 24:09Speaker 1: lessons I also learned this year is just like embracing
- 24:12Speaker 1: all the opportunities and the abundance and welcome that in.
- 24:16Speaker 1: You know, as people like to say, don't block your
- 24:18Speaker 1: blessings versus being very hands off about it and again
- 24:23Speaker 1: exploring what that feels like inside of me to be
- 24:26Speaker 1: my own source of validation versus allowing other people to
- 24:30Speaker 1: validate me.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Yeah, stepping into your winds, your power, the things that
- 24:36Speaker 2: you've done, and believing and knowing them for a fact
- 24:40Speaker 2: to be true one percent. Yeah, which can be really
- 24:43Speaker 2: challenging to be your own hype man at times, especially
- 24:45Speaker 2: when you're not feeling super shiny or strong to you know,
- 24:49Speaker 2: step forward and say I am qualified to do this,
- 24:52Speaker 2: or I did I do deserve this X or y
- 24:55Speaker 2: you know, you know what I mean.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, one hundred percent. I feel like it's just
- 24:59Speaker 1: been this really cool space of like thinking about how
- 25:03Speaker 1: I'm showing up and then how I could show up better,
- 25:08Speaker 1: but then also welcoming in the stuff that allows me
- 25:11Speaker 1: to see how much better I've become.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Right, what would you say one of your biggest wins,
- 25:20Speaker 2: so to speak, from the last year.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Was my biggest wins? I think, Oh, that's a good question.
- 25:29Speaker 1: I think one of my biggest wins was just being
- 25:34Speaker 1: comfortable with.
- 25:35Speaker 2: The fact that.
- 25:39Speaker 1: I am successfully solo parenting and being comfortable with the
- 25:44Speaker 1: fact that I'm doing things on my own, on my
- 25:47Speaker 1: own terms, and like like really doing it. It's not
- 25:52Speaker 1: fake do it, Like I'm really doing it, And I'm
- 25:57Speaker 1: really proud of myself for that because I think sometime times,
- 26:01Speaker 1: you know, when you leave certain situations, there might be
- 26:06Speaker 1: an understanding that might be planted in someone's head around
- 26:09Speaker 1: like you can't do it, or like you can't make
- 26:12Speaker 1: it without those particular individuals or whatever. And so for
- 26:17Speaker 1: me to be able to say like, hey, like I've
- 26:19Speaker 1: done this, I've done this really well, and I'm doing
- 26:22Speaker 1: it and I'm thriving and happy while doing it, because
- 26:28Speaker 1: sometimes I think people think that like you can't do
- 26:32Speaker 1: it and be happy. You can't do it and be thriving,
- 26:35Speaker 1: like you know what I mean, And I'm not surviving,
- 26:37Speaker 1: like I'm really intentionally showing up and holding space for
- 26:40Speaker 1: myself in a way that allows me to thrive.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's along the lines of it doesn't need to
- 26:48Speaker 2: be bad because it's different, right, And sometimes when all
- 26:53Speaker 2: we know is one way, that can be an assumption.
- 26:57Speaker 2: It can be an assumption that well, it's never going
- 26:59Speaker 2: to be this same, But what if not being the
- 27:01Speaker 2: same is actually better?
- 27:04Speaker 1: And just also embracing like the opportunities as they present themselves.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Like not everything that presents itself is a challenge. Sometimes
- 27:12Speaker 1: challenges are opportunities, right, And then like I said, going
- 27:15Speaker 1: back to the idea of leaning into learning what the
- 27:18Speaker 1: lesson is behind it, all right, and so allowing yourself
- 27:22Speaker 1: that understanding and providing yourself that grace to sit in
- 27:25Speaker 1: that understanding is really important. And I feel that, like
- 27:28Speaker 1: you know, you know, raising three kids is not easy, no,
- 27:36Speaker 1: especially my I NEI their own YouTube show. But like
- 27:39Speaker 1: you know, in the sense of like being okay with
- 27:45Speaker 1: some days are better than other days, but then also
- 27:48Speaker 1: just being okay with the fact that, like you're actually
- 27:51Speaker 1: doing it, and like to be able to say that
- 27:54Speaker 1: you're doing it, like being able to wake up in
- 27:56Speaker 1: the morning and you know, I say to myself, Hey,
- 27:59Speaker 1: we're baca like you this today and we're gonna like
- 28:01Speaker 1: whatever the day is, we still have today, right, And
- 28:06Speaker 1: appreciating the fact that I'm able to be in a
- 28:09Speaker 1: position to be able to say that, Yeah, I do
- 28:11Speaker 1: recognize the privilege that comes along with that, but like
- 28:13Speaker 1: I also understand my positionality of like where I was
- 28:19Speaker 1: and how far I've come.
- 28:20Speaker 2: To as well, really beautiful. When you think about the
- 28:24Speaker 2: next three sixty five, if you had to choose a
- 28:27Speaker 2: word that you want to bring with you into this
- 28:32Speaker 2: new year, what would you say your word is and why.
- 28:37Speaker 1: I would say that I'm bringing the word abundance with
- 28:43Speaker 1: me into twenty twenty three. So these next three sixty
- 28:47Speaker 1: five are all about the abundance. Abundance in terms of opportunity,
- 28:53Speaker 1: abundance in terms of and I don't want people to
- 28:57Speaker 1: take money, you know, I'm talking about just abundance of
- 29:00Speaker 1: what life is going to bring me.
- 29:02Speaker 2: But money could come to.
- 29:05Speaker 1: No one's going to complain about it, you know, and
- 29:08Speaker 1: I think that would be really great. But abundance for
- 29:11Speaker 1: me is being able to look at how can I
- 29:14Speaker 1: live my life abundantly right? And so that could be
- 29:17Speaker 1: like spending quality time with my friends, you know, that
- 29:20Speaker 1: will fill me up, and that brings abundance, like being
- 29:23Speaker 1: able to, you know, have opportunities come my way that
- 29:27Speaker 1: you know I might have written down or put on
- 29:29Speaker 1: my vision board. And you know, also it could be
- 29:33Speaker 1: like career stuff. It could abundance in terms of just
- 29:37Speaker 1: like I say that a lot in my journal when
- 29:40Speaker 1: I journal is like abundance, Like I'm welcoming an abundance
- 29:43Speaker 1: because abundance equals opportunity, and I'm open to going down
- 29:49Speaker 1: the path of like abundance because at the end of
- 29:53Speaker 1: the day, it's going to lead me down different many
- 29:56Speaker 1: pathways of like opportunity, and I welcome that into my life.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I love the word abundance. Thanks for sharing that,
- 30:02Speaker 2: and it makes me chuckle a little bit. At the
- 30:05Speaker 2: top end of this year, I think one of my
- 30:07Speaker 2: words for twenty twenty two was truly abundance, and I'm
- 30:09Speaker 2: bringing it into twenty three two so we can share
- 30:11Speaker 2: that together. I remember sitting down with a friend of
- 30:14Speaker 2: mine at a coffee shop and just talking about what
- 30:19Speaker 2: max abundance could look like. And twenty two for me
- 30:24Speaker 2: was one of those years where I didn't set a
- 30:25Speaker 2: lot of goals, but I really thought with that abundance mindset,
- 30:29Speaker 2: it was like, what could be the craziest thing that
- 30:31Speaker 2: could happen to me? Like what are my goals personally, financially, romantically,
- 30:37Speaker 2: none of which occurred, Like all of these things like
- 30:39Speaker 2: what would ideal look like? And just thinking big. It
- 30:43Speaker 2: was like I remember just giggling there with her and
- 30:45Speaker 2: being so excited and that excitement and that abundance mindset
- 30:49Speaker 2: it did work for me over a time, And so
- 30:51Speaker 2: I love hearing you say, Hey, I'm I recognize that
- 30:56Speaker 2: I journal this word a lot, and I'm seeing it
- 30:58Speaker 2: start to show up for me. Now that you're cognizant
- 31:01Speaker 2: of that, I am super excited to follow along and
- 31:04Speaker 2: see how it manifests for you over the next year.
- 31:06Speaker 1: And I also think that like it's a really cool
- 31:08Speaker 1: place for you to be and just because like it
- 31:10Speaker 1: might set you up for other things. So like just
- 31:13Speaker 1: how we talked to like you just mentioned that, like
- 31:15Speaker 1: you know, you called in like love, you called in this,
- 31:17Speaker 1: you called in that, like but sometimes you need to
- 31:20Speaker 1: get to one level of abundance to get to the
- 31:22Speaker 1: next level.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Hell yeah, you know what I mean.
- 31:24Speaker 1: So, like that's the other thing. It's what's beautiful about
- 31:27Speaker 1: it is that like there's steps to it, right, And
- 31:29Speaker 1: so like that's why I really am in this place
- 31:32Speaker 1: of really trying to like anchor into that and like
- 31:35Speaker 1: own that and also feel that, like how you talked
- 31:40Speaker 1: about it, you're being excited, Like it's an exciting place
- 31:43Speaker 1: to be in to be able to think from a
- 31:46Speaker 1: perspective of like abundance, and sometimes I feel like we're
- 31:54Speaker 1: like taught not to think from a perspective of abundance
- 31:57Speaker 1: or we feel guilt around thinking from a person of abundance,
- 32:02Speaker 1: and that doesn't negate, you know, positionality and privilege and
- 32:05Speaker 1: all those things that people want to talk about when
- 32:06Speaker 1: we use terms like abundance. But like, regardless of whatever,
- 32:11Speaker 1: like in order for that abundance to happen, you still
- 32:13Speaker 1: have to manifest it and work towards it, right, Yeah,
- 32:16Speaker 1: So like what are you calling in? What does that
- 32:18Speaker 1: look like? I want to see abundance in love too.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I want to see one's like you know what I mean.
- 32:22Speaker 1: So like we can go on that journey together. I'll
- 32:26Speaker 1: tell you at the end of the day and let
- 32:27Speaker 1: you know.
- 32:27Speaker 2: How it goes. Oh my god, oh God. I pray
- 32:30Speaker 2: them at the end of every year, at the end
- 32:32Speaker 2: of the year, I say myself, this is the year,
- 32:35Speaker 2: and we're still saying that this is going to be
- 32:38Speaker 2: the year. I feel it in abundance though, And I
- 32:40Speaker 2: really relate to you on that sentiment that it can
- 32:45Speaker 2: be something that we may feel guilty about to kind
- 32:49Speaker 2: of go with abundance because often times, this abundant mindset
- 32:55Speaker 2: is really rooted in feeling and maybe not so much
- 32:58Speaker 2: constantly in logic. Right, So what happens if we stop
- 33:04Speaker 2: being so to do list, we stop being so plan A,
- 33:09Speaker 2: Plan B, Plan C, Plan D, and just say how
- 33:12Speaker 2: do I want to feel? And oh, this feels good?
- 33:15Speaker 2: And if I follow what feels good, then maybe I'll
- 33:18Speaker 2: continue on this path of abundance. And to an extent,
- 33:22Speaker 2: at different times throughout this year, I believe that because
- 33:25Speaker 2: I was following what felt good, I was both in
- 33:29Speaker 2: alignment and then kind of, for lack of a better term,
- 33:33Speaker 2: like falling into abundance. And that was such a beautiful
- 33:37Speaker 2: and like awakening time for me to see what happens
- 33:40Speaker 2: when I just trust my gut and move forward in
- 33:43Speaker 2: that vein.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's like such a beautiful thing to
- 33:46Speaker 1: be able to trust yourself, right, and to also check
- 33:49Speaker 1: in with yourself, Like every day when I journal, I
- 33:51Speaker 1: have a question where I say, how do I want
- 33:53Speaker 1: to feel today?
- 33:54Speaker 2: Right?
- 33:54Speaker 1: And I you know, and sometimes I'm just like, I'm
- 33:56Speaker 1: sad and I just want to stay sad, like, and
- 33:59Speaker 1: some days I'm just like I just want to like
- 34:01Speaker 1: feel it all or whatever, right, And so like, I
- 34:03Speaker 1: think that you know, what that's teaching us is to
- 34:06Speaker 1: be able to trust ourself. And when you trust yourself,
- 34:09Speaker 1: you believe in yourself. Right, and you know that is
- 34:13Speaker 1: a very powerful tool for you to be able to
- 34:16Speaker 1: just like embody and then exemplify to others because it's
- 34:21Speaker 1: a it's a very precarious place for us to be
- 34:24Speaker 1: and when you might not see that as openly around you, right.
- 34:29Speaker 1: And I think sometimes people think about like abundances, like
- 34:33Speaker 1: especially like in wellness, like some shoo shoe like you know,
- 34:36Speaker 1: like you know what I mean, like flowery, like yeah,
- 34:39Speaker 1: I don't know calling it in manifest like, and that's
- 34:43Speaker 1: not what it is. Abundance at the end of the
- 34:45Speaker 1: day is getting to a place where you feel comfortable
- 34:47Speaker 1: enough to trust yourself.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Amen. Love that, Love that all right? A few rapid
- 34:52Speaker 2: fire questions before we wrap it up. Here. Favorite movie
- 34:55Speaker 2: of the year that you watched? Oh did I watch
- 34:59Speaker 2: movies this year? Movies this year? You were on a plane.
- 35:02Speaker 2: I was on a plane. You're like, the movie wasn't
- 35:04Speaker 2: good enough to recall?
- 35:08Speaker 1: Show TV show, Okay, so I had like it's not
- 35:12Speaker 1: my favorite, but I had this little guilty pleasure of
- 35:15Speaker 1: watching Designing Miami.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Love That for You.
- 35:18Speaker 1: It was like, really cool. I like that couple. The
- 35:20Speaker 1: dynamic and the homes that they created were so pretty.
- 35:24Speaker 2: So number one song on your workout playlist.
- 35:29Speaker 1: This year, number one song on my workout playlist is
- 35:33Speaker 1: I just did my Spotify wrap up too.
- 35:36Speaker 2: It was it was all right, so we're gonna go
- 35:40Speaker 2: with Drake. Yeah, go with Drake, Go with Drake. I
- 35:42Speaker 2: think one of my most listened to songs every year
- 35:44Speaker 2: is a Drake song too. It's nice for what because
- 35:46Speaker 2: it's like my perfect running cadence. So I listened to
- 35:49Speaker 2: it a lot.
- 35:50Speaker 1: My top artist though, was Maverick Sable.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, there we go.
- 35:54Speaker 1: We spent a lot of time in the shower listening
- 35:56Speaker 1: to his new album. My friends were like really yeah, yeah.
- 36:00Speaker 2: I know a lot of people learning a lot about
- 36:02Speaker 2: themselves from Spotify.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Ro seventy six thousand minutes listening to music.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Oh.
- 36:08Speaker 1: I blamed it on everybody, saying, you guys want these
- 36:10Speaker 1: like fire playlists for classes.
- 36:13Speaker 2: That's what I used it as. If you had to
- 36:15Speaker 2: think about one of your favorite meals of the year,
- 36:18Speaker 2: what was it and where were you?
- 36:20Speaker 1: What was it and where was I. I was in
- 36:24Speaker 1: La and I was with some friends and they brought
- 36:28Speaker 1: me to this place called I think it was like
- 36:32Speaker 1: Brush on thirty third. The food was like super super
- 36:38Speaker 1: like good.
- 36:40Speaker 2: It was just good food.
- 36:41Speaker 1: It was really like great company, but really flavorful food.
- 36:46Speaker 1: And the second place would be when I landed in Jamaica.
- 36:51Speaker 1: I went and got a juicy patty. A juicy patty, yeah,
- 36:54Speaker 1: nothing like it fresh from patta patty with a cocoa bread. Yes,
- 36:59Speaker 1: nothing like going back and having.
- 37:00Speaker 2: That, Oh my gosh. And then from the last year,
- 37:04Speaker 2: any favorite places that you've traveled.
- 37:05Speaker 1: To, I would say going back home to Jamaica was beautiful.
- 37:08Speaker 1: I got to go with my children, so all three
- 37:10Speaker 1: of them came with me, and I, you know, conquered,
- 37:14Speaker 1: well not conquered, taggled. My fear of heights. Okay, we
- 37:17Speaker 1: went up a really big mountain, my Jackstick Mountain, and.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Did Bob Slaying and I h.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Zip lined for the first time. Oh wow, that is
- 37:29Speaker 1: a big fear of heights. Well man, yeah, with my
- 37:31Speaker 1: eyes closed. But the guy another guy was like, you're
- 37:34Speaker 1: not supposed to close your eyes, and I'm like, but
- 37:36Speaker 1: I'm scared of heights because that was the only way
- 37:38Speaker 1: I could get that halfway down the mountain. So I
- 37:40Speaker 1: I love that whole entire experience because my kids still
- 37:43Speaker 1: to this day are just like, remember when mom, I
- 37:46Speaker 1: was like super scared. But it was really nice because
- 37:52Speaker 1: all three of them got to experience home, right, and
- 37:57Speaker 1: you know, that was beautiful for them to experience the
- 38:01Speaker 1: different cadences of what home offered. Yeah, and from their
- 38:05Speaker 1: own unique perspectives and understanding. So that was probably one
- 38:09Speaker 1: of the best trips I've ever had in my life.
- 38:12Speaker 2: We know you're channeling abundance for twenty three. What would
- 38:15Speaker 2: you say one of your biggest goals for the new
- 38:18Speaker 2: year is.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Oh, I would say one of my biggest goals for
- 38:23Speaker 1: the new year would be to do hosting or like
- 38:28Speaker 1: more public speaking. I want to get out there like
- 38:31Speaker 1: that a little bit more. Yeah, Yeah, that's probably one
- 38:34Speaker 1: of my goals.
- 38:35Speaker 3: And to.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Think of the ways in which I could hold space
- 38:41Speaker 1: in a more permanent structure.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Oh, I like that. I like that. If there's anything
- 38:46Speaker 2: I can do for you on the hosting note, we
- 38:48Speaker 2: can connect. Thank we can connect. Okay, final question here,
- 38:53Speaker 2: This is just an easy, breezy little year interview and
- 38:56Speaker 2: year to come. Right now, you have an opportunity to
- 38:59Speaker 2: offer yourself a piece of advice looking back on the
- 39:02Speaker 2: beginning of twenty two. Now that we're sitting at the
- 39:05Speaker 2: beginning of twenty three with what you know, now, what
- 39:09Speaker 2: do you tell yourself?
- 39:12Speaker 1: I would tell myself that even in the moments when
- 39:15Speaker 1: it feels heavy, there's always going to be another side
- 39:20Speaker 1: where you're going to find relief, release and rest beautiful.
- 39:25Speaker 2: I'm so happy that we were able to make this happen. Rebecca,
- 39:27Speaker 2: how do the hurdlers follow along with you? They don't
- 39:30Speaker 2: just yet. How do they keep up with you? Give
- 39:31Speaker 2: us the details.
- 39:33Speaker 1: You can find me on ig at Rebecca Price, and
- 39:38Speaker 1: from there you could kind of like find the coordinates
- 39:40Speaker 1: to like my website and everything else from their website.
- 39:42Speaker 2: And everything else. From there, I'm over at Emily Body
- 39:45Speaker 2: and at Hurdle Podcast. Another Hurdle Conquered. Catch you guys
- 39:48Speaker 2: next time.
