- 0:18Welcome into the Treehouse Football Podcast. I'd say leave your worries outside, it's
- 0:28time for the Treehouse. But this is not that kind of a show.
- 0:31This is the football version of the Treehouse Podcast, which means there's gonna be
- 0:35a lot of sadness in here, a little panic, a little bit of
- 0:41panic, and a whole lot of regret. Like going to Arizona and playing
- 0:49the Cardinals. Yeah, I'm sure the Cowboys instantly regretted having to do that.
- 0:58But you know what, we really need to give credit where credit is
- 1:00due, and that is not to the Cardinals. We need to give credit
- 1:03to our very own Raj Sharmah for Jinks, the Dallas Cowboys. Yes,
- 1:08thank you, thank you very much. Thank you said you know, you
- 1:11said it couldn't be done, And I'm sorry that I had to prove you
- 1:15guys wrong. Yeah that's what I said. Dan, I'm sorry, but
- 1:19I don't know that I'm gonna let you off the hook with this because you
- 1:23were the one who absolutely stated that, you know, do not give yourself
- 1:29the power of the jinks and that you tempted, you were tempting fate with
- 1:36that. Oh so you're blaming me and you're trying to take their credit away
- 1:40from Raj. I'm laying it at both of y'all's feet. Okay, so
- 1:44it's a team effort. Good good for team Treehouse. Yes, this is
- 1:47the this is manager trade talking. It really is. This is yeah,
- 1:51this is Trey doing the very good manager things, spreading the blame and not
- 1:57taking any of it onto himself. Tray, you're like the program director of
- 2:00the Treehouse podcast. Hey, I will say this, Like I said,
- 2:08go ahead, Tray Dan, You're you're really the very Yeah, you well
- 2:13appreciate this, but I'm like, you know, of the history of program
- 2:16directors. I love Gavin, but I'm like, this was just fun here.
- 2:20It's like, wow, does that make me like Bob McNeil. That
- 2:24is a throwback name for anyone listening. I'll put some glasses right here and
- 2:30then just leave, all right. The very quick story roars when we were
- 2:34back on CBS Radio on even five three, which went through with two different
- 2:38names, but that was you know, we had Howard Stern in the mornings,
- 2:39and then we were you know, we were on the Rust Martin showing
- 2:43the afternoon, the very first program director of that station, and that station
- 2:46was on the air from I think it was like April of two thousand through
- 2:51December of two thousand and eight. Bob McNeil, the original program director,
- 2:55had his job down to not just a science but an art form. Because
- 3:02I met him, didn't I you? I think I did. The name
- 3:07sounds really familiar. It's very possible he came up on the show quite a
- 3:09bit because or he was on the show quite a bit. So anyway,
- 3:13Bob, you know, he was a country music programmer and they changed his
- 3:19talk format, and he was just kind of like the format. He was
- 3:22free wheeling it and just trying to trial an air. Let's see what happens.
- 3:25And so when on the days that he really wasn't feeling it, feeling
- 3:30it being work, oh, he would he would take his throw down pair
- 3:35of glasses, put them on his desk, put on his normal glasses,
- 3:40walk out of his office, leave the door open and the light on,
- 3:44and then he'd get in his car and drive to a golf course and play
- 3:46golf. Everyone at the station, however, would walk by his office and
- 3:52it appears he's just left momentarily, and we'll be back any minute. Ah
- 3:57with the glasses. Yep, Well play aid I like his style. Yeah,
- 4:02he was a fun boss. He was a really, really really fun
- 4:05boss. He was more of the management style of DA don't lose the license.
- 4:11That's exactly what it was. But that's exactly his management style. When
- 4:15I got RAJ you did you did my weekend show for many many years.
- 4:17When when when we first got that show on the air, Bob's instructions to
- 4:23us were, and I quote, have fun, don't lose the license.
- 4:29There was nothing else, There was no structure, guidance, there was there
- 4:31was nothing. Have fun, but don't lose the license. Got it and
- 4:34off form. And I think that I think that for that the specific type
- 4:41of radio shows that both of them were, I think it made for a
- 4:46productive work environment as opposed to something that would you would feel it was a
- 4:50hindrance. Not having his presence. Yes, he he He let you be
- 4:58you. He let you be created without putting any constraints on you. He
- 5:03also let rust throw fireworks at us. So yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 5:08we were breaking the law on a daily basis. Now, I will say
- 5:12this, the tactic of appearing to be caring about what your team is doing.
- 5:18Yeah, that actually seems like kind of like what the Cowboys game plan
- 5:23was, or at least the game plan from Mike McCarthy, because he actually
- 5:26looked like he just set his glasses down on the desk for the week and
- 5:29stepped out to do whatever the hell else it was besides appearing to get the
- 5:31team ready for a game in Arizona. Now, let's get back to let's
- 5:36get back to whether or not we need to change the name of this show,
- 5:41and maybe we do. Maybe we do need to change the name of
- 5:44this show from the Treehouse Football Podcast too, we Jinks dym Boys, I
- 5:48like it. And first of all, at Trey, I'm not gonna let
- 5:51you steal this moment from me. I would like to thank everybody that didn't
- 5:57believe it was possible for me too, Jinks, an entire team of adults.
- 6:02And I did. And I said by name who I thought was looking
- 6:08great and was back in the mix and ready to take take on the season.
- 6:11I said his name, I said, Trayvon Diggs. And I do
- 6:14recall seeing the alert on my phone and texting one Daniel O'Malley and saying,
- 6:21you didn't think I could do it, did you? You son of a
- 6:26bitch? Trayvon Diggs out with a practice. It's amazing. The next damn
- 6:32day day that the day that RAJ says he's looking good. I don't want
- 6:39to jinx it. They're looking good. I don't want to jinx it.
- 6:42The very next day, Trayvon Diggs acl snaps and then come time for the
- 6:46game in Arizona and your jinks. RAJ has seemingly spread like a virus through
- 6:54the team and managed to take out three of the five offensive line starters.
- 6:58Correct, I still felt very confident going into that game without Trevon Diggs.
- 7:01Still confidence very high. But once I saw in the pregame that three of
- 7:06the five starting offensive linemen, including Zach Martin, were out or questionable,
- 7:14that was when I started to get concerned. Yeah, I knew what was
- 7:19going to happen with that, and it happens with a lot of teams.
- 7:23Is a leader and a credible player like Treyvon Diggs gets hurt and they lose,
- 7:30and they pin it on that particular person being gone. Well, you
- 7:34know, the secondary wasn't ready. The team whatever it is, Team Morales,
- 7:39secondary is not ready. Whatever it is, They're gonna go well,
- 7:41you know, with without without Treyvon Diggs, there that's I've heard this so
- 7:45many times in the last week. Really, well, you know, Trayvon
- 7:47digs out. I'm like, but he's one dude. Oh you're talking about
- 7:50just people just talking in general, not people that actually know what they're talking
- 7:55about. Correct, just just just overhearing people talking about the Cowboys and it's
- 7:59like, well, you know, they didn't have and I'm like, well,
- 8:00that's correct, and hey, look I understand. I understand they didn't
- 8:03have Diggs. And if you were facing an elite quarterback like Patrick Mahomes or
- 8:09something, or possibly what appears to be Jordan Love in Green Bay, those
- 8:13Lucky Packers. But in reality, if you're playing against the Patrick Mahomes and
- 8:18you get lit up in the secondary, and then you can say, well,
- 8:20you know what, if Trayvon Diggs is in the game, we're talking
- 8:22we're talking about a different outcome possibly. Whereas when it's rocket scientists, Josh
- 8:28Dobbs and own to Arizona Cardinals, whose main objective at the end of this
- 8:35season is to secure the first pick in next year's NFL draft, Yeah,
- 8:41it ain't on the fact that Trayvon Diggs didn't play. Now, if you
- 8:45want to skew some and say, hey, you had three out of five
- 8:48offensive lineman not playing, including one guaranteed Hall of Famer in Zach Martin and
- 8:54possibly another Hall of Famer in Tyron Smith. Yeah, you could point,
- 8:58as they see, that's that's amine your problem. That could be why they
- 9:01were not successful in Arizona. But when you actually watched the game, yeah,
- 9:05Cowboys didn't lose that game because they had a majority of backups in on
- 9:09the offensive line. They lost the game because they sucked. Yeah, I
- 9:13it looked like it reminded me of the Quincy Carter days of the Cowboys.
- 9:18Here's why, Here's here's old. No, no, no, here's why.
- 9:20Because I used to own a nightclub in Deep Alum called Chrome, and
- 9:24a couple of those guys would come in and I'd see them, I do
- 9:28you know, I'm I'm the owner the club. I would go over and
- 9:31hug them and you know, give and they would they would always pay.
- 9:37I would give them the VIP lounge for free. And there's many a night
- 9:41that I went isn't today's Saturday? H And I go, oh, they
- 9:46have a game tomorrow. And I remember there was one specific game where I
- 9:48was loose for pre game. I remember what there was one where Quincy Carter
- 9:54had four interceptions in one game and I was like, I know why,
- 9:58Like that's called hungover and they look like I saw some of their faces.
- 10:03I'm like, did they get to Arizona early? Like, because Arizona is
- 10:07a great part like Phoenix Tempe that it's a great flagstap Like, oh,
- 10:11that's a great party tap like they have fantastic bar, that fantastic nightlife.
- 10:18Like did they get their date early and nobody said go to bed at ten?
- 10:22Like, I don't know what happened. Oh, they'll tell them those
- 10:24things and they'll have the team meeting the night before we're on the road.
- 10:26They're at the team hotel and all those things and all that doesn't necessarily mean
- 10:31they follow it. Or that also doesn't mean that they didn't bring in the
- 10:35evening's entertainment to the rooms. Okay, I don't know how it'll works.
- 10:37I'm just like some of them just look like. I'm like, man,
- 10:39that guy looked hung over. That's that's that's how they were playing. I
- 10:45like Dan's you know, the thought of the fact that Mike McCarthy they have
- 10:48just put his glasses on the desk, and you have been like, whoa
- 10:50crap, we're two and oh hey, let's let's take a break. You's
- 10:54go party. Yeah, And that's all I've seen on ESPN News is like
- 11:00is this was this just a bad game or is this a bad sign overall
- 11:03for the remainder of the season. I think three games in that's you would
- 11:07think, so, okay, I would The only reason I say yes to
- 11:11that as far as a bad sign is because that's that's what we've seen from
- 11:16Cowboys teams for the last thirty years. Yeah, not all of them,
- 11:20but like the ones that were supposedly good, they'd be really good, and
- 11:24then they'd have a showing like this one and then and then now you don't
- 11:28know which team you have. You don't know which team is going to show
- 11:31up. It's the bipolar Cowboys. Yeah. I'm just wondering, like,
- 11:35is it is it? You know, presumptuous to go. We were three
- 11:39games in, this is the season's over? Like, well, let's hold
- 11:43on, let's see, let's see what they do, Like what adjustments may
- 11:46I think they walked into Arizona with we got this. I know we got
- 11:50a couple of hurt people. We don't have to try that hard. So
- 11:52let's not over extend anybody else because we have people that are out, So
- 11:58let's just play like we're just at this. And then I think by the
- 12:01time it hit them, oh we don't got this, it was way too
- 12:05late. Yeah, and it was evident because you can see when people are
- 12:09trying to play, when they're playing catchup. You can tell, like you
- 12:13can see like the panic on the sidelines, and once you see that,
- 12:16even as a spectator, especially the opposing team, like we got them,
- 12:20look at them on their heels now because they weren't expecting this, and the
- 12:24Cardinals needed some sort of boost to get people to come back to watch games
- 12:28that aren't season ticket holders. I think just a quick point in there is
- 12:33like when when the Cowboys go to Arizona. Arizona has no problem selling tickets
- 12:37because they have a huge mass of Cowboys fans in there, and as you
- 12:43watching the game, you saw just you know, i'd say a quarter to
- 12:48a third of the people in the stands are wearing Cowboys stuff. Tray was
- 12:50it? What was it? You're going to say, Oh, I mean
- 12:52I was gonna say that it's it with the NFL. It's the tendency is
- 12:58to have these you know, big overreactions of oh my god, what's we're
- 13:01a dumpster fire, when in point of fact, there's so much parody that
- 13:05they could come out this weekend and and you know, kill the Patriots and
- 13:11all as well. That's very true. I heard someone say before, and
- 13:15this is absolutely accurate. How as Cowboys fans we live and die week to
- 13:20week. And I don't think that's exclusive to us as Cowboys fans, but
- 13:26we seem to own a little bit more than others. Like if you're a
- 13:30Browns fan and you lose a game like this, you're like okay, Whereas
- 13:35as a Cowboys fan, especially one that we're alive and watching the nineties Cowboys,
- 13:41Yeah, our highs are really high and our lows are really low,
- 13:46and we need we need some type of pill to you know, even us
- 13:48out. That's funny that you mentioned that there was I saw a clip of
- 13:52a METEOROLOGI doing the weather and he said, uh, the the hot temperature
- 14:01this week. We'll peek in the nineties, much like the Dallas Cowboys,
- 14:07and I was like, you can't be mad at it because it's accurate.
- 14:11It was good. I like, I wanted to hate the guy and I
- 14:13don't know where what city was in, but I wanted to hate the guy.
- 14:15And I was like, but I mean thinking like on your feet like
- 14:18that, Like that was clever. Like I gotta give you credit for that.
- 14:22And there has been every season is that is now we have the right
- 14:26people in place. So when we got Dad and Zeke okay, we got
- 14:28and we got him, this is going to be the guys that are gonna
- 14:31take us to the Now. It's every season is like, who who do
- 14:35we have? Now? That's going to be the three you know, the
- 14:39triplets or whatever, whatever slogan or whatever, not a Moniker you want to
- 14:41give it now. We have to find that every season and then it's a
- 14:46letdown because oh my god, we had so much success in the nineties and
- 14:50then now we don't. You know, I don't want to think that one
- 14:56game like this could end it, but I mean morale wise, just being
- 15:00in town after that game, and just Tredy knows as well, just listening
- 15:03to people talk about it, especially ESPN when they're like is it over?
- 15:07I'm like, did anybody see Denver play? Did anybody want to talk about
- 15:11Denver given up to seventy points. I'm so glad because that actually made me
- 15:15feel a little bit better knowing at least we didn't get blown out and had
- 15:20and had seventy points hung up on us. Yeah. Yeah, but it
- 15:24also makes you feel worse because Miami was a dumpster fire a couple of years
- 15:28ago and right now. I mean, if you want to have, you
- 15:31know, overreaction, it's like I would put the Eagles and the Dolphins in
- 15:33the Super Bowl, and I don't you shut up, Tredy Trent Holme.
- 15:39But if you want to talk about the two bad like of what I've seen,
- 15:41especially the Dolphins are scary good like they they their speed is unbelievable.
- 15:48They're fun to watch. I never never thought i'd said that about Miami Dolphins,
- 15:52but I mean they've even I didn't really think two of was that good.
- 15:56But even he looks really good. And then that's what I mean.
- 15:58He looks great when he's not concussed for most of the seasons, like right,
- 16:03well, but it's it's like, yeah, he gets his receivers are
- 16:07so fast and he gets the ball out quickly. Then you it does bring
- 16:11up the eternal question of the Cowboys of you know, is Dak the man?
- 16:18Or is he a great quarterback? Is he just a good quarterback?
- 16:22He is. He is the quintessential embodiment and one player of the story of
- 16:29the Cowboys over the last thirty years. And unwittingly the person who would have
- 16:33had that before him was Tony Romo. And and that is you've got You've
- 16:40got two guys that are capable of some amazing things and have done some amazing
- 16:45things, but at the end of the day, they still have nothing to
- 16:48show for it, and sometimes they can be a detriment to their team.
- 16:55And there's a specific version of Dak Prescott that I hate, I really hate
- 17:00seeing it, and that is wide mouth Dack. When Dak Prescott in a
- 17:07game like the one in Arizona on Sunday, is looking around with his mouth
- 17:11open like he's looking for a like a like, a like he's looking for
- 17:17a lure, and he looks lost, as if someone pulled him out of
- 17:22a pond, dropped him in the middle of an NFL state even say,
- 17:26play quarterback and he was a fish five minutes earlier. Stop it now,
- 17:36keeping in mind, that's wide mouth Dak. There's then there's killer Dak.
- 17:41Yeah. Then there's Dak who's like focused, he's got his game face on
- 17:44and he's screaming, let's f and go, and then they do it.
- 17:48Whenever I see wide mouth Dak, I just my stomach starts to turn and
- 17:52I just just I feel like there's a there's a baby bass somewhere who's missing
- 17:56daddy. That's the that's the panic that I'm talking about. When you can
- 18:02look on the sidelines and you see their faces, you know, you can't
- 18:04hide that. Like back in the day the camera angles and they wouldn't zoom
- 18:08in whatever it was. Now, i mean they're up close and personal and
- 18:11they've got you know, so much technology to where you can see like individual
- 18:17players and their reactions to certain things, and I'm like, yeah, I
- 18:19mean they look scared and they look like they don't know what they're doing.
- 18:22The difference with the thing that I didn't like about Tony Romo was the a
- 18:25shucks Romo where he would throw an interception, be like dad, damn it,
- 18:29and slap his knee and then just hop off. I'm like, he
- 18:32didn't have that. I knew we weren't going to the Super Bowl with Romo.
- 18:34I knew that for a fact. He didn't have that killer Let me
- 18:38get in the huddle and yell at these people as my teammates, as their
- 18:42leader to take this to the next level of play that they're capable of.
- 18:47He was the guy that you wanted at the party, Yeah, as opposed
- 18:52to you know, leading it to the super Bowl. Yeah, he's like
- 18:53a cool youth pastor, you know, I mean like I know y'all,
- 19:00but here and in another lifetime he probably was. Like if if Tony Romo
- 19:07was to be dropped into the Marvel Cinematic universe, he probably would be a
- 19:10really cool youth pastor in one of those other universes. Yeah, like I
- 19:12wanted to play. Do you think that in one of those other universes he
- 19:17would have won a super Bowl or still zero? I mean I don't,
- 19:21I don't. I don't know which universe that would be. Like I just
- 19:23did hours obviously because he's gone now, but yeah, he just didn't have
- 19:27that. But if you watch him do the color commentary, like he's a
- 19:32clinical genius, Like he's calling plays before the ball snap and everybody that works
- 19:37with him is like, well you were right again. Tony's like, I
- 19:38know I'm this good and his quarterback ranking was amazing, but he just didn't
- 19:44have that thing. Aikman had it. Aikman had that thing. I'm going
- 19:48to murder you in your sleep. That is exactly what it is. Like.
- 19:52You don't win this, we don't win this today, you die.
- 19:56I think he's drunk and serious, like and everyone else on the sidelines telling
- 20:02you every all the other players go like, Trey will find I mean Troy
- 20:06will find you. Yeah, he knows where we all live. Like he
- 20:07asked for addresses at the beginning of the season. I thought that was weird.
- 20:14It wasn't for Christmas cards. You're listening to the Treehouse. Visit us

- 20:49I'm Daniel Malley along with Trey Trenholme and Raj Sharma. Before we skip
- 20:56ahead and start thinking about the Patriots this weekend at at and T Stadium in
- 21:00Arlington, let's uh, let's finish up dog piling on the on the Cowboys
- 21:10effort in Arizona. I would like to take. Outside of giving our show
- 21:15too much credit on Jinxing Dim Boys, which we may or may not have
- 21:21done, I need to say that I am actually very impressed about something that
- 21:30Cowboys did on Sunday in Arizona, and that was lay such a massive turd
- 21:38on the field in Arizona that tens of thousands of people showed up to see
- 21:45it, and then millions more around the world turned on their televisions to also
- 21:52see this massive turd in the middle of Arizona and a football game happened around
- 21:57it. Yes, that was extremely impressive on the Cowboys park because I know
- 22:03a lot of times, like on sports shows, after a game, especially
- 22:04after a bad loss, and that's all losses are bad, but sometimes when
- 22:08it's against a team that on paper and in your heart you know you should
- 22:12have won, but you don't, it's a bad loss. That being said,
- 22:21those shows, we'll say, all right, look it was bad,
- 22:23But what's what's a silver lining? What's what was something positive you could take
- 22:27out of the game. Mine was, well, you know, at least
- 22:32the Cowboys are back to being regular. We're striving for mediocrity. Well,
- 22:41you know what, when I guess what happened in the first two weeks.
- 22:45Uh, you know it made us feel good because you know, they put
- 22:48up you know what, like seventies or they put up a ton of points
- 22:52in the first two games. The defense looked phenomenal. And then and then
- 22:55they show up in Arizona and just drop a massive turd in the middle of
- 22:57the stadium and call it a day. And that's kind of infuriating. But
- 23:02as Cowboys fans were kind of used to it, Yes, and and I
- 23:06did uh and uh Treyvon Diggs season, and I feel terrible for it.
- 23:11Uh. And I would like to offer uh the jinxing power that I clearly
- 23:18have to Like, let's say the to New England that's coming up, what
- 23:22should what should I what should I mention for them that I jinx New England.
- 23:27Now, let's just see if it were if if if I, if
- 23:30we mentioned just give me one specific person from New England that we can we
- 23:34can say, you know what, I'm I will he's looking really good and
- 23:37I and that's the jinks. And if it does happen, oh, you'll
- 23:41know. So I would like to stop you there. I don't want us
- 23:47to wish any injury or anything like that on the part of any player.
- 23:52So the name I'm going to give you rag, so I would like for
- 23:56you to jinks is Bill Belichick for this week. Okay, Boys take on
- 24:00the Patriots at home. Yeah, and Bill Belichick has recently found himself single.
- 24:04And I don't think there's anything more dangerous in the NFL than a Bill
- 24:10Belichick with too much free time. Yeah. I mean, because when Bill
- 24:15Belichick has that much free time to game plan or still your playbook or you
- 24:18know, videotape your practices, whatever it is, that man needs a distraction.
- 24:25So what I would like for you to do, Raj is to wish
- 24:27a girlfriend upon Bill Belichick to distract him properly against this Calvin, I think
- 24:33he's as a human being, has turned a corner and love will find him
- 24:37shortly. He had he had, My heart is full, he had a
- 24:41woman. He was he had a woman when they were winning. Actually,
- 24:48I know I would say I jinxed them and wish Mac Jones good health,
- 24:55all right. I want him to stay as as healthy as he possibly can
- 25:00as he makes his way to AT and T Stadium to play hour Dallas Cowboys.
- 25:06I wish him nothing but health and prosperity. Let's see, Trey,
- 25:10you may be my evil list of friends. Like at this point, I
- 25:15don't think that you were ever a real estate agent or a radio host and
- 25:22producer in your career. I don't think that you are a service industry manager.
- 25:27I think in your real life, I think you live at the Continental
- 25:32down the hall from john Wick, and you find joy in ending people while
- 25:40telling them I wish you nothing but the best. I like how he's getting
- 25:48blamed for and I'm the jinxer. This is fantastic. Keep it up,
- 25:52I think is really good. I think we have something on I think we
- 25:56have something we could really build on here, which is we use Rod his
- 26:00face and Trey's words yes to just absolutely demolish whatever the target is for that
- 26:08week against the Cowboys. So maybe for this week and Mac Jones, we
- 26:14release a photo of Mac looking great throwing a football. He's not broken or
- 26:19in a car crash or anything like that on the field. But then a
- 26:23quote from Trey that says, we hear at the Treehouse Football podcast, wish
- 26:29you nothing but the best. Yah. Yeah, good health and happiness,
- 26:37and may Belichick find the one love of his life. But Trey. You're
- 26:41right. I know Belichick had had his woman there for many, many years,
- 26:44even when they were winning, but that was a long term relationship.
- 26:48She knew the deal he had. He had laid down the lines like look,
- 26:52I gotta do football and stuff, so she didn't distract him as much
- 26:55as as one could have. Now, if you you you drop a new
- 26:59girlfriend in his app, that's saying you know what you're You're great. You
- 27:03don't you don't need to spend an extra two hours analyzing the game plan.
- 27:08Let's let's go have a drink. Let's let's go get some dessert. Let's
- 27:12let's go, you know, let's go meet my family or maybe you know
- 27:17Robert Kraft is like, hey, you look tense, come with me and
- 27:19get a massage. And I don't want to see is all of a sudden
- 27:29Belichick has a new girlfriend and he wears number twelve. That would be bad.
- 27:40Yeah, that's a relationship that I don't want to see backslide because that
- 27:49would be bad for everybody. Although hilarious, it makes for a great rom
- 27:57com script. I mean, you know that first game when you know Tom
- 28:03they retired Tom Brady's number. You know, Belichick It's like every relationship.
- 28:07Yeah, you may have parted ways and it wasn't great, but all of
- 28:10a sudden you look back them and those are good times. Is good?
- 28:15No, no, no, you're right. And what's the other thing that
- 28:17they're thinking? Man, that sex was great. I would like to make
- 28:25this. I would like to make this an idea possible for ABC, maybe
- 28:30next year's Golden Bachelor. Bill Belichick, I'm both intrigued and horrified. Just
- 28:44on one head, I would watch that. On the other hand, he
- 28:47is not going to hold back on telling those chicks why he's not having them
- 28:52on his team. No, he'll get a power point presentation to pointers this
- 29:00wrong. You moved wrong here, you didn't fight. I told you to
- 29:04follow the play I'm gonna need you to grab your playbook and follow me.
- 29:11That's what he hands out, insaid of Roses. You're still on the team.
- 29:22He just narrows it down to twelve. That's it. That's eleven and
- 29:27a backup and then and then you know how they like to have the big
- 29:30shocker, then the shocker when the extra turns, and then Tom Brady comes
- 29:33walking. I would watch this. Yes, they always got to drop that
- 29:41twist. On you. All right, I feel like that's a pretty solid
- 29:45preview of Cowboys Patriots this Sunday. Now, I do have one Cowboys question
- 29:53though, all Right, has it turned out? And I don't know if
- 29:57it is scheme or just person but Cowboys backup running back might be the best
- 30:04job in sports in the NFL for a running back because it's it seems like,
- 30:11However, I don't know, like I said, Pollard last year,
- 30:12was Zeke great this year? But then what's a deuce? That's a guy's
- 30:18name? I think I was really hoping you were going to say Biggelow.
- 30:22Yeah, but uh, that would have been right in Tray's wheelhouse of of
- 30:29misappro misplacing hosts and names of things in different places. I still love that.
- 30:37And I don't know, like I said, I don't know if it's
- 30:38scheme or personnel, but and how they use the starter versus the backup.
- 30:44But it seems like that that is a sweet spot. Well you say that,
- 30:48but I mean Pollard actually had himself a decent day. Yeah, But
- 30:52I just like he actually had a really good day statistically. He just doesn't
- 30:57seem as explosive as he was to me. I disagree completely, I think
- 31:04he again, I don't. I hesitate and again, And maybe it's because
- 31:10it's so frustrated with Zeke that you saw him and it's like, oh,
- 31:14that's great, and now it's like, I don't know. It may also
- 31:18be a compared contrast type of thing, because last year, when you have
- 31:21Zekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, it really was like a thunder lightning thing.
- 31:25Like when Tony Pollard comes in and he's flying down the field and then Zeke
- 31:29comes back in and it looks like his, you know, his, like
- 31:30he's running in peanut butter. Then that's an easy contrast to make, whereas
- 31:36now it's mainly Tony Pollard and he you don't have someone stuck in peanut butter
- 31:41in front of him. But do you also think it could be this because
- 31:44it is the NFL and the average shelf life of a running back is about
- 31:48four years, and two of that is spent trying to get your contract,
- 31:53trying to make that money that once they do. If you look at Zeke,
- 31:59I mean, and he he got paid big off the jump, but
- 32:01when he wanted to get his money, get his money, he was playing
- 32:05with that fire and that that passion for the game, then got that check
- 32:10and was like, you know what, I only have a certain amount of
- 32:14life left as a player before, you know, something catastrophic could happen or
- 32:19I have to go off and retire whatever, So let me make my money
- 32:22now. And Pollard did the same thing. I don't know what, because
- 32:25there is that thing in the NFL where the owners of the team look at
- 32:30running backs as a very very disposable commodity. Right. The main the major
- 32:38theme you're talking about RAJ is one that's has plagued sports now since the free
- 32:45agent era entered into all those sports, which is you're in a contract year.
- 32:50Players in a contract year sure do seem to really play with a chip
- 32:53on their shoulder and because they're they're going to get that bag. And then
- 32:58after they signed the big contract, then it might be just because it's tainted
- 33:04now because you know they've signed their big contract and if they don't have the
- 33:07same results, then you're like, oh, well, now they're just you
- 33:10know, slacking because now they got paid, or they just don't want to
- 33:14get hurt because that position. There's also that and those are all legitimate things
- 33:19that could be true. I think at the end of the day. It
- 33:22depends on the individual. It depends on the individual player. If like you're
- 33:28really gonna have one or two one out, you're sort of got I talked
- 33:31for a living, You're gonna have one of two types. Typically, you're
- 33:35gonna have a player that's going to go get that money. And when they
- 33:37get that money, now they're going to tap the brakes a little bit and
- 33:39say, I have a life after football. I've got to think about and
- 33:43I have security and all these types of things, and now that I've got
- 33:45it, I'm I'm still gonna I'm still gonna try, but it's not gonna
- 33:49be at the same level. The other type is now that I got my
- 33:52money, now I'm gonna go show you why you should give me more of
- 33:54it, or I'm going to show you now that you've done this, now
- 33:58I don't have to worry about money and I can focus now on killing all
- 34:00of my enemies, sort of that Tom Brady mentality. Yeah, I mean,
- 34:05yeah, I wish and I think you can have both. Yeah,
- 34:07I just wish there was more of the ladder right when it comes to just
- 34:12across the board on all NFL teams, like I see it where they're You're
- 34:15exactly right where they're fighting for that that season, their contract season, and
- 34:21they get that money, and it's like, okay, cool, now I
- 34:23got it. Now I can take a breather. The guy who's behind me,
- 34:25let him work a little bit harder now because he's got to get his
- 34:28money too. And then they said that trickled down, you know, like
- 34:30domino effect, Like the guy behind me, he's got to get his money
- 34:32too, So I'm gonna pump the brakes on his and let him shine for
- 34:35a minute. So Trey did kind of answer your question. I don't know
- 34:39because on one hand, on one hand, you know that they're because on
- 34:45one hand, I can tell you this, Zeke had some plays that I
- 34:49guarantee you that they would not call for Pollard and vice versa. Like you
- 34:52know, there are plays that they would put in the put in the game
- 34:55plan or in the playbook for Tony Pollard, but say, you know what,
- 35:00this would not be as successful with Zeke. So this is more of
- 35:04a Tony run type of a deal. I'm certain that that happens. But
- 35:07both running backs should be able to execute the same core running plays that you
- 35:13have in your book. And then sometimes there's other outside influences affecting your performance
- 35:19in a game, like whether or not RAJ has you know, Jinks to
- 35:22you or not. But I will say I will say there was one player
- 35:27that we talked about in our previous football episode, and that was Travis Kelsey
- 35:31and the Treehouse Jinks has not affected him one bit, because last week we're
- 35:37talking about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey from the Chiefs. Quietly hanging out was
- 35:44the story. Well, quietly hanging out escalated really quickly, as Ron Burgundy
- 35:50would say to Taylor Swift in the booth with Mama Kelsey. Yeah, that's
- 35:55a hell of a leap going from quietly hanging out to here's mama, I
- 36:01you know, does she need? Is she working on a new album?
- 36:04What's going on? Because she is? Because everybody's like, you know,
- 36:07well, what if Travis Kelsey Mary's uh, there's I'm like, really you
- 36:12think because she's got a killer track record of uh doing this and then the
- 36:19break up and then phenomenal music. Yeah, that's exactly for mamma to Grammy's
- 36:27like that's ah, Like it was a very it was a great optics wise.
- 36:31It looked fantastic. It was very wholesome. It was there's my mom
- 36:35and their high fiving and everybody's loving the game, and my home's throw a
- 36:38touchdown at the end that you could clearly seems like, hey, ma'm my
- 36:43girls in the up there, can you can you throw me? Something's like
- 36:45I got you? Uh and did that? The play call was all right,
- 36:51all right, it's Swifty on too ready break. Yes, But there
- 36:53are Internet there are Internet conspiracy theories going on. So if you look at
- 36:59the line up from the Eagle standpoint, like the way it was lined up,
- 37:02it was Kelsey right, his brother Jalen Hurts and the running back Swift.
- 37:08So it says Kelsey hurts Swift. So that's the new conspiracy theory is
- 37:15that there is like that. I'm telling you, I watched, I saw
- 37:19it. So what's the theory is that it's it's Kelsey's doing this to hype
- 37:23himself up and he's gonna break Taylor Swift's heart. The Swifty conspiracy theories are
- 37:28going don't don't trust the don't trust the Travis Kelsey there because he's gonna Kelsey
- 37:32hurts Swift. Kelsey seems like a fairly intelligent guy and does he does he?
- 37:38Really? And and please, I mean if you're if you're comparing all
- 37:45time great tight ends from a mental standpoint, yeah, I'd put him above
- 37:49Gronkowski. But that's not exactly a high bar, all right, I guess
- 37:59that's the bar, you know. So he looks like a road staller,
- 38:06Yeah, look like the polar Bear out there playing tight end. Uh.
- 38:10But I mean he the Brothers seemed fairly media savvy everything else. You have
- 38:15to know the last person you really want to try to screw over, and
- 38:20you have to go this way into this with some trepidation of if yo,
- 38:23if you do break up, you're gonna get just crucified by the Swifties by
- 38:29the next album. Yeah, that's what That's what I mean. And and
- 38:34it hasn't hurt Jake Gyllenhaal at all. So he's doing okay. Like he
- 38:38just may not have the fan base with the Swifties that he had while they
- 38:43were together, but again it does. The Jersey sales went up four which
- 38:49is impressive. The outfit that he was wearing when they walked out that was
- 38:54that by the way, was that like a like a like a twenty first
- 38:58Century Picnic Table. Uh. I looked it up because there's so what that
- 39:05company did in a moment of absolute genius because their album is titled on nineteen
- 39:12eighty nine. They slapped nineteen eighty nine on the back of that jacket and
- 39:17originally it was just the way it looked like with Travis Kelsey wearing it.
- 39:20They went and overnight put nineteen eighty nine on the back of the jacket and
- 39:23it's sold out completely within within hours. And then, like I said,
- 39:30the you know, Travis Kelsey jerseys four hund percent. Now they have their
- 39:34own merch like people are on Etsy designing things like Swifties are on their Etsy
- 39:38accounts making Kelsey swift the T shirts and jerseys and things like that. So
- 39:45I mean, she does, i mean boost the economy for for whoeverything.
- 39:51It's amazing. You know, she's she's one of the few things that can
- 39:53actually put more people in an NFL stadium than the NFL team. Yeah,
- 39:59that's the was the one meme that I saw that was really great. It's
- 40:01like, you know, why don't when Travis Kelsey was inviting her to the
- 40:04to the game, was like, you know, why don't you come to
- 40:07the stadium. It's gonna be totally sold out, and she goes, yeah,
- 40:09I know, I did that twice by myself. But it's cute that
- 40:16you and dressed out friends can sell it out too with the opposing team people
- 40:24as well. So yeah, I mean it's and you. I wish the
- 40:29best for them both. I mean I think that's I think that's great.
- 40:34Uh yeah, man, I mean that's cool that Okay, are you still
- 40:39are you? Are you now stealing already stealing my lane of Oh no,
- 40:43I wish them the best. No, no, no, no, I
- 40:45mean if it works out, that'd be what a great story. Like she's
- 40:47just you know, pop princess and he's a great, uh talented football player,
- 40:52and it's very high school like the homecoming King the homecoming queen kind of
- 40:55thing. You know. That'd be kind of a that's a great story.
- 40:59It's a great fair tale kind of romance. So so so like the American
- 41:02version of the Beckhams. Yeah, I mean the kind of I mean,
- 41:06like, yeah, I guess you could call it that, but that'd be
- 41:07kind of cool and good for them if that works. I just look at
- 41:10with a slightly more wholesome feeling yeah, and and Travis Kelsey's voice actually matches
- 41:17his face, So that's a that's if you ever heard David Beckham talk,
- 41:21You're like, how is it? It's like the first time you heard Mike
- 41:23Tyson talk. You know, it's like you just see this beast in front
- 41:27of it was like, so, you know, what would you did your
- 41:29opponent? I took him to the school with this hey and you're like,
- 41:31oh no, no, that's not how he supposed to talk. Well,
- 41:35you mentioned that because that's also people's reactions to when they heard Patrick Mahomes.
- 41:38Yeah, like, oh my god, someone dubbed you know, Kermit the
- 41:44Frog's voice and the Patrick Mahomes body. Uh but no, I mean that
- 41:49would be kind of a fun, uh cool story. I just look at
- 41:52her back. Her track record is such where it always seems like these really
- 41:57high profile romances and everything's going great, and the minute it gets too serious,
- 42:01she bails out and writes an album about how broken hearted she is.
- 42:06It was like Adele, Like Adele did the same thing for her first couple
- 42:08albums, to the point where she when she announced she was pregnant. I
- 42:12posted a joke on Facebook that guy a lot of grief because all of her
- 42:15songs are so sad. I was like, she's pregnant, that baby's never
- 42:17gonna stop crying just listening to and then she's all happy now, and you're
- 42:24like, Okay, you've got your residency in Vegas, you got your guy,
- 42:27everything's everything's happy, no new music, yeah, so what's what has
- 42:31to happen now? And so breeds creativity absolutely that you're sorry about the worst
- 42:39Most people don't know it, but the worst one of all of them was
- 42:43the No Doubt because you know, Gwen Stefani dated the guitarist and that album
- 42:47is about their breakup. Yeah, and like not only it's number one everything
- 42:52else, but then for the next five years you're touring and every night you're
- 42:57just getting pounded with that yeah yeah. And on the flip side of it,
- 43:01for for for for my people, we're just like, oh, an
- 43:05Indian guy was was banging Glen's all right, dude good. Maybe maybe that's
- 43:09the tray he was able to swallow all that all that crap from the album
- 43:15being sung about him as he's you know, playing back up to Gwen Stefani
- 43:17is like rags things like yeah, but I got her, Yeah, take
- 43:22that Gavin Rossdale from Bush this album's about me. It is kind of an
- 43:29interesting thing though, when you have a leg up and you get to go
- 43:31to a Gavin Rossdale type and say, how do you like my sloppy seconds?
- 43:37I would just autograph the album and give it to him. I'm here
- 43:40you go, buddy. That's all about me by the way. But yeah,
- 43:45I mean, good luck. I would love to see nothing more than
- 43:49I mean, I just think about how lucky that family is, like they
- 43:52got you got two kids in the NFL and then one could possibly date the
- 43:57world's biggest pop star. Uh, that's I don't know if you buy a
- 44:01lottery ticket or if you just wait for the lottery to come to you at
- 44:05that point, Like, I don't know how that at that point. I
- 44:07mean, if if you're if you're mom m Kelsey, are you actually still
- 44:13going out and buying scratchers? I mean your kids, well with your kids
- 44:19are are millionaires in the NFL. They're great at what they do. And
- 44:22at the prospect of having your daughter in law being one of the most popular
- 44:28and wealthiest artists in the world, I mean, why would you Why are
- 44:32you going to the guest saying there is you know, for every you know,
- 44:37good thing that happens. He's already come out when he was on his
- 44:39brother's podcast saying, you know, now the paparazzi or outside international paparazzi's outside
- 44:45of my house. Now you know, I had a bit of a personal
- 44:49life. Now I don't. This is just from yesterday. So he's already
- 44:52got there. Well, now I don't have any but I don't have a
- 44:54personal life. I don't have this. I don't have that. Because when
- 44:57you're Travis Kelsey and you're in Kansas City, it's you can still go places.
- 45:00Yeah, there's gonna be a mob, but it's cool, like you
- 45:04can still sign autographs and they'll throw you some free crap or whatever. Now
- 45:07you've just taken it to international level of superstardom and he needs and then this
- 45:14is this is an important lesson for him to learn because Travis Kelsey's still in
- 45:16his twenties, andy late twenties, I think, so this is this is
- 45:20an important lesson for every twenty something to learn, and that is there are
- 45:23consequences. There are consequences to when you punch out of your weight class or
- 45:31in the football terms, when you OutKick your coverage, which he's clearly done,
- 45:39so he's done. It's like, I mean, it's one thing to
- 45:44be one of the best tight ends in the game, and thinking, you
- 45:45know what, that's not enough. It's trying to try my foot at kicking.
- 45:52Because if the kicker for the Chiefs comes over to you after the game,
- 45:55is like, get on your bro like, I can kick a seventy
- 46:02yard field goal, but you you yah, Taylor Swift wearing your jersey up
- 46:08there is next to your mom. Yeah, I mean good, good on
- 46:15him, and he tried. I like the balls he played that he made
- 46:19when he went to her concert and gave her Because the whole friendship bracelet thing,
- 46:22if you guys didn't pay attention, he was wearing hers in the game.
- 46:27He was wearing a friendship bracelet that she does. He gave her one
- 46:30with his phone number on it. The only thing that was missing after his
- 46:32touchdown, So after his touchdown was him actually throwing up the heart hands.
- 46:38That would have been good. Oh yeah, you should have. You should
- 46:43have been on the PR team for that. I'm available at people. Bill
- 46:49Belichick's calling you right now. I would pay money to see Bill Belichick throwing
- 46:54heart hands up towards anybody all the way. I think there's one person.
