- 0:00Speaker 1: This podcast is recorded on gadigal Land, Always was, always
- 0:03Speaker 1: will be Aboriginal Land.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Hey chicks, I'm out and I'm so and this is
- 0:14Speaker 2: two broat chicks to show that shares life lessons and
- 0:16Speaker 2: tips to make you rich in life. Today we are
- 0:20Speaker 2: chatting the six days you need every month.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I'm very excited to get into this. This is like
- 0:27Speaker 1: really up my alley, you know, because life moves fast.
- 0:32Speaker 2: This is a really good way to kind of slow
- 0:36Speaker 2: down time intentionally and do things that you kind of
- 0:41Speaker 2: feel like you never have time to do. Yeah, and
- 0:44Speaker 2: all these days, these six days out of the month
- 0:48Speaker 2: of all things future, you will thank you for.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I already did it. I love myself. Yeah, I think. Okay,
- 0:55Speaker 1: this episode's gonna inspire me. But before we get into it,
- 0:59Speaker 1: sadly about it. Love my life. Tell me your obsession
- 1:01Speaker 1: of the week.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Okay, my obsession of the week is that toe rings
- 1:06Speaker 3: are back.
- 1:07Speaker 1: How do you feel? I feel invigorated and confused. I
- 1:12Speaker 1: loved a toe ring back in the day.
- 1:15Speaker 2: The reason why, in my mature age I questioned a
- 1:19Speaker 2: toe ring is I never.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Washed that motherfucker. That thing stayed on my toe twenty
- 1:24Speaker 1: four to seven.
- 1:26Speaker 2: So I'm interested, but I also question where the feet
- 1:29Speaker 2: jewelry has a place in my routine. Now, yeah, I
- 1:35Speaker 2: understand that that thing would have been a germy little
- 1:39Speaker 2: thing and imagine that in your bed.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Anyway, Sorry, talk me through. Taught me through the toe ring,
- 1:44Speaker 1: the toe ring, me through the toy ring.
- 1:46Speaker 3: A brief history of the toe ring. Yeah, I mean
- 1:49Speaker 3: we cover the important things on the show. But yeah,
- 1:52Speaker 3: like you said, I think a lot of us would
- 1:53Speaker 3: remember wearing toe rings in the two thousands.
- 1:55Speaker 1: They had a huge time to shine back again. Yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 1: I loved them. Many toe rings would you wear on
- 2:02Speaker 1: one foot? Just one? Okay, just one? Keep it classy,
- 2:06Speaker 1: Keep it classy.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I have seen them style though on Pinterest, like with
- 2:10Speaker 3: multiple and it actually looks really cool. I think it
- 2:13Speaker 3: just depends on It's like any.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Sort of rings, long toes.
- 2:17Speaker 3: I think you'd be able to do a good ring
- 2:18Speaker 3: stack on the absolutely do a ring stack on my toe.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Not going to I mean, we'll see.
- 2:27Speaker 3: But I saw on Who What Where they were reporting
- 2:30Speaker 3: that the trend is back, and they were saying that
- 2:33Speaker 3: Leandra Madrine Cohen, who is like a New York writer
- 2:37Speaker 3: and it's Allen's sister.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Yeah, precisely. Yeah.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Not included in the show posted a photo of her
- 2:45Speaker 3: wearing havianas and a toe ring.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Oh god, yeah, I see it.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Now, I see it and I like it.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Yeah, And she had actually released a line of toe
- 2:57Speaker 3: rings with this luxury label brand that I hadn't heard of,
- 2:59Speaker 3: befo for a Flalo aflal o. How much is a
- 3:05Speaker 3: toe This one was expensive and the style of toe
- 3:08Speaker 3: rings that has been coming back since this launch are
- 3:13Speaker 3: more like I think it was a.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Diamond toe ring. Perhaps you've lost me. I was with you. Yeah,
- 3:19Speaker 1: I said, keep going, and then I said stop.
- 3:22Speaker 3: We've also seen toe rings with other brands like Simuero
- 3:26Speaker 3: and Chanlu. So these are brands that are based in
- 3:29Speaker 3: the States, and the toe rings have like gems and
- 3:33Speaker 3: jewels on them, like they almost look like, you know
- 3:36Speaker 3: how a chunky diamond ring.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Is very much in fashion. Start making my toe green.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I don't want it. Just kidding, but I just want
- 3:44Speaker 1: to confirm.
- 3:46Speaker 3: So the a Flalo Bethany toe ring in gold plated
- 3:50Speaker 3: silver is three thousand dollars.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Three thousand dollars for a toe ring.
- 3:55Speaker 3: And this was reported on Who What Where? So I
- 3:57Speaker 3: believe that would be in US day wording.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Was it like, look at this stunning toe ring, or
- 4:03Speaker 1: was it like.
- 4:05Speaker 3: So they've written this article that I read like, Yeah,
- 4:08Speaker 3: so they've written this article that toe rings are back,
- 4:10Speaker 3: and then they've included a few different examples under shop
- 4:15Speaker 3: toe rings. That's the first option for three thousand dollars.
- 4:19Speaker 3: The next one from sim Can I see what.
- 4:21Speaker 1: The three thousand dollars one looks like?
- 4:23Speaker 3: Bruh, that's a fucking engagement.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Ring on so that I can like explain it's literally
- 4:32Speaker 2: it's literally.
- 4:33Speaker 1: An engagement ring on your toe.
- 4:35Speaker 2: It's got a thin gold band and a circular pH
- 4:39Speaker 2: fat diamond on it.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Yeah, there's some that I have seen that look cool though,
- 4:44Speaker 1: like vibe sham.
- 4:47Speaker 3: This one from Simuero, which is the Duner toe ring,
- 4:50Speaker 3: is one hundred and eighty dollars, still very expensive, but
- 4:53Speaker 3: that's cool. I think like that's more in that sort
- 4:57Speaker 3: of boho vibe. This one, the chan Luke Grease crystal
- 5:00Speaker 3: toe ring in emerald, is also like that gemstone vibe.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I think it's really interesting because obviously we're in winter
- 5:07Speaker 3: and it has been a very cold and rainy winter
- 5:10Speaker 3: in Australia. So when I was doing my research. I
- 5:13Speaker 3: was like, I wonder if this has popped up on
- 5:15Speaker 3: the iconic and whatnot or the likes of Sendre and
- 5:20Speaker 3: whatnot in Australia, and it hasn't. And it hasn't, So
- 5:23Speaker 3: I'm interested to see a spring and summer thing that
- 5:26Speaker 3: will come through in a couple of months or if
- 5:29Speaker 3: the Aussies won't get around it.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Okay, what's your obsession, I'll make mine quick and easy.
- 5:35Speaker 2: It is me your friendly reminder to get pet insurance
- 5:39Speaker 2: yet again.
- 5:40Speaker 1: At this current point in term, my single one cat
- 5:45Speaker 1: has cost over twelve thousand dollars. Oh my god, I.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Have paid one thousand dollars of that, which was then
- 5:52Speaker 2: split with my partner.
- 5:53Speaker 1: That's amazing exactly.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I literally cannot be more of a post child for
- 6:01Speaker 2: bet insurance if I tried. Yeah, because over the weekend
- 6:05Speaker 2: our cat got sick, binksy girl like literal love of
- 6:09Speaker 2: my life and firstborn child. We ended up rushing her
- 6:12Speaker 2: to the emergency Vet, which upon arrival is a three
- 6:15Speaker 2: hundred and twenty five dollar fee upon arrival. Then she
- 6:19Speaker 2: got checked out and they decided to admit her and
- 6:22Speaker 2: run a blood test, an ultrasound and whatever other tests
- 6:25Speaker 2: as well as hook her up on an IV drip
- 6:28Speaker 2: and also she had to stay in overnight.
- 6:30Speaker 1: This came to a cost of five thousand dollars for
- 6:32Speaker 1: one vet trip.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Really. Yeah, And whilst that can definitely be a scare
- 6:39Speaker 2: tactic to be like get it, get that one hundred percent,
- 6:43Speaker 2: blah blah blah blah blah, what was more important to
- 6:47Speaker 2: me was the fact that we could sit there and say, yes.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Do what you need to do.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Yeah, do every time, do every single thing because we
- 6:54Speaker 2: love her so much that there was no part that
- 6:57Speaker 2: I had to stand in an office crying because I
- 7:01Speaker 2: couldn't afford to know what was wrong with her. Yeah.
- 7:04Speaker 2: And it just literally breaks my heart that there are
- 7:07Speaker 2: situations that people end up like that in And I
- 7:12Speaker 2: just again, like, every single time this happens, I'm gonna
- 7:15Speaker 2: like stand on a soapbox and literally scream me and
- 7:17Speaker 2: like please because we pay forty three dollars a month,
- 7:21Speaker 2: we pay forty three dollars a month, and she's insured
- 7:23Speaker 2: for up to thirty thousand dollars.
- 7:25Speaker 1: When I signed up for that, did I think I
- 7:28Speaker 1: would get to halfway? Yeah? No, But that's the joys
- 7:32Speaker 1: of insurance. You never think you're gonna fucking need it,
- 7:34Speaker 1: and then you're like, ooh.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it is exactly Yeah, that is just my obsession
- 7:39Speaker 2: of the week.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Get pet insurance. Anyway, get into the episode shell Luis.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Okay, getting into six days you need every single month.
- 7:51Speaker 1: So these are the days that you're gonna schedule. You
- 7:53Speaker 1: can put them wherever you like, any order you wish.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Bob's your uncle.
- 7:57Speaker 2: But the first day you're going to schedule in your month,
- 8:01Speaker 2: and probably the most obvious is you'll get shit done day.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Get shit done day. So this is the day you
- 8:07Speaker 1: tackle your grown up checklist.
- 8:10Speaker 2: And the things that are on this day are reoccurring tasks, right,
- 8:16Speaker 2: So it's the stuff that doesn't feel very glamorous but
- 8:18Speaker 2: will free up a lot of mental space by doing so.
- 8:23Speaker 2: My suggestion is to put this at the start of
- 8:25Speaker 2: the month so that for the rest of the month
- 8:29Speaker 2: it's out of your mind. You don't have to stress
- 8:31Speaker 2: about it.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Get it out of the way.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeah, this is things like paying bills, organizing your finances,
- 8:38Speaker 2: checking in your side hustle or freelance projects, filing receipts
- 8:42Speaker 2: or emails.
- 8:43Speaker 1: You've been ignoring all that stuff that you're like.
- 8:47Speaker 3: You know, yeah, and it's all the stuff that when
- 8:50Speaker 3: you're falling asleep at night, No, you're like, I've got
- 8:53Speaker 3: to need to pay that bill. Oh, I need to
- 8:54Speaker 3: set up that recurring payment. Oh I need to email
- 8:56Speaker 3: this person back. Like these are all those things that
- 9:00Speaker 3: will weigh on your mind and you'll feel so much
- 9:02Speaker 3: better if you just get.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Them out the way at the beginning of the month.
- 9:04Speaker 2: You will literally have the dive from mein Hit of
- 9:06Speaker 2: the Century and I as well lining up your bills
- 9:11Speaker 2: to all come out on that day. Especially because a
- 9:13Speaker 2: lot of us get paid either on the last day
- 9:15Speaker 2: of the month or the first day of the month,
- 9:16Speaker 2: it makes it a lot easier. I would recommend putting
- 9:19Speaker 2: this day when you get paid, so that way all
- 9:23Speaker 2: of it can all of it can come out of
- 9:24Speaker 2: your account. So if you get paid monthly, put it
- 9:27Speaker 2: on that day. If you get paid fortnightly, have it
- 9:30Speaker 2: on like the second of that fortnight that you get.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Paid, so you can kind of work it out that way.
- 9:36Speaker 2: But I like to think of it as like your
- 9:38Speaker 2: ADMIN day, because one focused day means you're not stressed
- 9:41Speaker 2: about money or paperwork for the other thirty days of
- 9:44Speaker 2: the month. And I was reading this article and it's
- 9:47Speaker 2: quite interesting because it referred to things like this as
- 9:49Speaker 2: invisible labor and the reason why we avoid it or
- 9:53Speaker 2: put it into like the too hard basket, or it's
- 9:55Speaker 2: the thing that wakes us up at three am and
- 9:57Speaker 2: we're like whoo is because labor is invisible. You can't
- 10:02Speaker 2: physically see it there, right.
- 10:03Speaker 1: And it's not like decluttering exactly.
- 10:06Speaker 2: It's not like your laundry sitting in the corner, or
- 10:09Speaker 2: like meal prepping on.
- 10:10Speaker 1: A Sunday, right.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Invisible labor is a term used for things that you're
- 10:14Speaker 2: not physically seen doing. So physical admin is like laundry, meal, prope,
- 10:20Speaker 2: et cetera, et cetera. But invisible labor is often things
- 10:24Speaker 2: spent on a computer, like setting up insurance. Hey yat.
- 10:33Speaker 2: But what you can do is by giving it a
- 10:35Speaker 2: name and by writing it down and making it a
- 10:38Speaker 2: physical thing, or by giving it a structure like a
- 10:42Speaker 2: get shit done day. Giving it that name can help
- 10:45Speaker 2: stop putting this off and procrastinating these life admin tasks. Yeah,
- 10:49Speaker 2: turning it into that routine and a ritual almost so
- 10:54Speaker 2: by naming it your get shit done day, having it
- 10:57Speaker 2: on a specific day of the month that you do
- 11:00Speaker 2: every single month.
- 11:00Speaker 1: But also you can.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Tie it with you listen to a specific playlist every
- 11:05Speaker 3: single time you do that, or you always make a
- 11:07Speaker 3: really delicious beverage with like a plate of cookies on
- 11:11Speaker 3: the side croissant or chocky croissant, like be like, this
- 11:15Speaker 3: is the day, and these are the nice things that
- 11:18Speaker 3: I get to do while I get my shit done.
- 11:21Speaker 1: And do you know what, as well, I found that
- 11:24Speaker 1: my get shit dune day doesn't take the whole day. No,
- 11:28Speaker 1: it'll maybe take the morning, do you know.
- 11:30Speaker 3: It takes the whole day When you procrastinate around it.
- 11:34Speaker 3: That's when it actually takes the whole day. Because it's
- 11:37Speaker 3: on your mind the.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Whole frequently and regularly you do it as well, the
- 11:41Speaker 2: easier it will be.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Yeah, but you just but that's why you need to
- 11:45Speaker 1: do it every month.
- 11:45Speaker 3: It's getting started and turning it into that monthly routine.
- 11:48Speaker 2: The first get shit dune day will probably be the
- 11:51Speaker 2: longest one, yeah, because you're pulling everything in, you're making
- 11:54Speaker 2: a sexy spreadsheet and you're doing all that fun stuff.
- 11:57Speaker 1: You're looking at insurances and I don't know, but I
- 12:00Speaker 1: get a little bit of a kick out of being
- 12:02Speaker 1: like a good adult. Yeah, do you know what I mean?
- 12:05Speaker 1: You feel like you've got your shit together? Yeah?
- 12:07Speaker 2: Okay, Day number two, potentially my favorite day is your
- 12:11Speaker 2: zero agenda slash antisocial day.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Picture this. You wake up, rollover and nothing's on the calendar.
- 12:19Speaker 2: No brunch, no meetings, no obligations, no christening for your
- 12:25Speaker 2: second cousins, first baby of your uncle removed.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Don't know if that was intest. This is the day
- 12:30Speaker 1: where you.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Are completely off the hook permission granted. Do you know
- 12:36Speaker 2: that feeling when you have a sick day and everyone's
- 12:41Speaker 2: working and you're like, this is the best day ever.
- 12:45Speaker 1: I like to call it my rot day.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yeah, but I felt like zero agenda day was a
- 12:50Speaker 2: little bit more sparkly. But it's to me, I'm a rot. Yeah,
- 12:54Speaker 2: this is the rot day of the month. So rotting
- 12:58Speaker 2: is obviously the new slang term of gen z, you know,
- 13:01Speaker 2: hip kids. I know, but I think oftentimes it does
- 13:05Speaker 2: have kind of negative connotations to it, and a lot
- 13:08Speaker 2: of you know, content that comes up on my feed
- 13:12Speaker 2: is like anti rot agenda or how to get out
- 13:15Speaker 2: of your rotting and blah blah blah blah blah, and yes,
- 13:17Speaker 2: like rotting every day is not good for our brain,
- 13:21Speaker 2: but it does have its perks. So Courtney DeAngelis a
- 13:24Speaker 2: psychologist at New York Columbia University told Health that in
- 13:29Speaker 2: small doses, it can calm the body and help is
- 13:32Speaker 2: stress and.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Exhaustion, which I'm like, yeahs makes sense.
- 13:36Speaker 2: We love that, But I also love when a psychologist
- 13:39Speaker 2: tells me it's okay.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. The proof is in the book. But a
- 13:44Speaker 1: doctor said, I actually have to go to bed.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I really can't come to work. Got a rot yeah,
- 13:49Speaker 2: doctor DeAngelis said. So it helps to feel like we
- 13:52Speaker 2: have permission to rest. So simply having one day, like
- 13:56Speaker 2: one day in your mind is so reasonable. We very
- 13:59Speaker 2: often and don't get rest because we feel bad about
- 14:02Speaker 2: having rest. Whereas when you're looking at it like okay,
- 14:05Speaker 2: this is my one day to just detach, do nothing
- 14:09Speaker 2: and to have more, I encourage, right, Like, I'm not
- 14:13Speaker 2: saying just have one day that you have zero agenda.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Have fucking fifteen if you want, you know, but at
- 14:19Speaker 1: least have one.
- 14:20Speaker 2: At least have one where you're just giving your brain
- 14:24Speaker 2: a break from constant planning and restore your creativity and
- 14:28Speaker 2: your rest, and it will just lower your burnout and
- 14:31Speaker 2: give you a reset button to be like Okay, I'm back. Yeah,
- 14:36Speaker 2: Like I need one of these, like every weekend.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Well, there have been talks that we may potentially be
- 14:42Speaker 3: trialing like a four day work week.
- 14:45Speaker 1: In Australia and we've been trialing. We've been talking about that,
- 14:48Speaker 1: I know, but god, that really long time.
- 14:51Speaker 3: And in the UK they tested it as well as
- 14:53Speaker 3: the productivity went higher. Yeah, so it definitely would have
- 14:56Speaker 3: a positive impact. So I do wish that we had
- 14:59Speaker 3: a third day every single weekend to do this.
- 15:02Speaker 2: When I've committed to a zero agenda day, it's the
- 15:06Speaker 2: best day ever. So I've compiled a little list of
- 15:09Speaker 2: how to have the perfect rot day.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Number one, the environment.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Gotta be cozy, gotta be clean, and bonus points if
- 15:17Speaker 2: it's raining outside, yeah, preferably a thunderstorm. Number two, leave
- 15:22Speaker 2: the matching set and get the favorite jumper.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I know we all have a favorite.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Jumper that is like potentially like seven years old and
- 15:33Speaker 2: has about three Puster stains on it. That is the
- 15:36Speaker 2: jumper we're wearing on a rot day. We're not here
- 15:39Speaker 2: to look cute, We're here to be comfy, all right.
- 15:42Speaker 2: I want truly the coziest, most relaxing outfit.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Because this isn't this isn't for esthetics, this isn't for
- 15:50Speaker 1: us whole.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I imagine like Harry and Ron on Christmas morning vibes,
- 15:54Speaker 3: like little stripy pair of pants with a knitter jumper.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Oh yes, please, okay, three big girl toys. Get your
- 16:01Speaker 1: head out of the gutter. You can. You can put
- 16:05Speaker 1: that in this list if I do as good as
- 16:08Speaker 1: sounds like, don't lie.
- 16:09Speaker 2: I do, But I'm talking like Kindles, projectors, a strong movie, lineup, Pinterest,
- 16:15Speaker 2: set up on the iPad, shopping on the laptop, get.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Your big girl toys all lined up, and being like,
- 16:21Speaker 1: what do I want to do? What should I do?
- 16:24Speaker 1: Maybe I'll scroll on Pinterest, or maybe I want to movie,
- 16:26Speaker 1: or maybe I'll do all three at the same time. Yeah,
- 16:28Speaker 1: you know usually the way. Okay, number four the food
- 16:32Speaker 1: favorites only. Mm okay. I don't want to fucking hear
- 16:36Speaker 1: a word about calorie deficits or health or macros or
- 16:41Speaker 1: getting your protein. Do you know what?
- 16:43Speaker 2: I actually encourage no protein meals on this day because
- 16:46Speaker 2: that is where I find my joy. I'm talking vodka
- 16:50Speaker 2: pasta rigatoni I'm talking marvelous Creation's chocolate block like and
- 16:54Speaker 2: everything bagel with all.
- 16:55Speaker 1: You can eat cream, cheese, potentially halapinio. Obviously, you have.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Four permission to also uber eat every single item or
- 17:05Speaker 2: dawd ash or takeaway.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Now, there is also a little amendment to this. Theres
- 17:08Speaker 1: a four a right. This is also multiple drinks at
- 17:12Speaker 1: all times. Now.
- 17:14Speaker 2: You never start one drink, finish it and move to
- 17:16Speaker 2: the next one. You must consume the multiple drinks in total,
- 17:21Speaker 2: in tandem.
- 17:22Speaker 1: In tandem. So maybe you'll have a little sippy crispy coke.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Maybe then you'll go back to your rice coffee. Oh,
- 17:28Speaker 1: maybe a little water.
- 17:29Speaker 2: You've got to have your divert multiple drinks at all times.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't make the rules.
- 17:36Speaker 2: And five and kind of what we were saying before
- 17:39Speaker 2: a commitment to the rot. Do not let the outside
- 17:42Speaker 2: world disturb your slumber. Okay, you are sleeping, beauty. Everyone
- 17:47Speaker 2: outside might be like battling a five billion foot dragon.
- 17:53Speaker 3: You're rotting.
- 17:54Speaker 1: That's fine to none of your business.
- 17:56Speaker 2: That's fine.
- 17:56Speaker 1: But that's my rot day agenda. I love that, you know,
- 17:59Speaker 1: I'm actually in it. I'm like, should I do that?
- 18:00Speaker 1: This weekend? Definitely. Okay.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Moving on to day number three, this one is your
- 18:07Speaker 2: treat your self day.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 18:11Speaker 2: There's many iterations that this day can be, right, but
- 18:14Speaker 2: basically this one's for joy. It's about nourishing the parts
- 18:17Speaker 2: of you that simply want, not need. Right.
- 18:21Speaker 1: This is the.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Day that you book a facial or a haircut or
- 18:26Speaker 2: a massage, or you buy the thing that you wanted
- 18:30Speaker 2: to buy, or you go out for a really nice
- 18:33Speaker 2: dinner or even dinner. You know, you get an ice cream,
- 18:36Speaker 2: you go to the movies, something that is simply just fun.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Yep. You know, maybe you have a little bit of
- 18:42Speaker 1: a glow up day.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I recently developed a glow up draw
- 18:48Speaker 2: in my bathroom and it's just filled with all the
- 18:52Speaker 2: things that I do to like feel good and be
- 18:55Speaker 2: like yeah, either like slaying boots her house down feels hot,
- 18:58Speaker 2: or just like need a little bit of a pampering
- 19:01Speaker 2: hair mask, face mask factan.
- 19:04Speaker 1: The works, eyebrow acts if you will.
- 19:06Speaker 2: I also want to preface this that like a treat
- 19:08Speaker 2: yourself day does not necessarily mean spending money, Like it
- 19:11Speaker 2: can just be doing something.
- 19:13Speaker 1: That really brings you joy and that you really really
- 19:16Speaker 1: want to.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Do, like giving yourself a facial at home, having a
- 19:19Speaker 3: really nice, luxurious bath with like all of your little
- 19:22Speaker 3: lotions and motions that usually you're like, oh, I won't
- 19:25Speaker 3: use them tonight, like they're too specials, like give yourself
- 19:29Speaker 3: attention on that.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Day, use the special thing whatever that is. Yes, I
- 19:33Speaker 1: love that. What would you do on your treat your
- 19:36Speaker 1: self day?
- 19:37Speaker 3: Get a massage because we only ever get them when
- 19:40Speaker 3: we're on holiday. Oh my god, guys, we got a
- 19:42Speaker 3: couple's massage in Europe and we were like yep for
- 19:46Speaker 3: two people, and then we got there and they walked
- 19:50Speaker 3: us into a room together.
- 19:52Speaker 1: This is not the first time either.
- 19:57Speaker 2: There like holding our hits like hi, we'll see you
- 20:01Speaker 2: in an hour. And then it's just funny because like
- 20:04Speaker 2: I'm laying there literally next to our naked while both
- 20:07Speaker 2: our bodies.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Are been simultan touched, Like if I deep it when
- 20:12Speaker 1: I'm sitting there, I start laughing.
- 20:16Speaker 3: At least it wasn't the Bali full body.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Full body massage, if you guys don't remember that or
- 20:23Speaker 2: didn't listen to the Bari episode.
- 20:25Speaker 1: So I went to.
- 20:28Speaker 2: And we're in separate rooms for this, thank god. But
- 20:32Speaker 2: I think that's what also contributed to me losing my ship.
- 20:35Speaker 2: And it was our first time in Bali, and we
- 20:37Speaker 2: didn't quite understand that like full body meant full body,
- 20:40Speaker 2: and so that means like neck, shoulders, backs, and then
- 20:44Speaker 2: like go over, but we cover you with a towel
- 20:46Speaker 2: and we work around your bits anyway.
- 20:49Speaker 1: And so then we're in this thing and they go
- 20:50Speaker 1: turn over and then she just.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Rips the towel down and it's tits out for the boys,
- 20:55Speaker 2: and she's got oil on my tits and she's just
- 20:58Speaker 2: rubbing like e cut boobies right.
- 21:02Speaker 1: On this holiday. And I haven't been even been touched
- 21:05Speaker 1: like this by your manly long time.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I haven't.
- 21:21Speaker 1: So not only am I like a.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Little bit uncomfortable, but like in terms of the two
- 21:25Speaker 2: of us, like whoever who gets the tits out more,
- 21:27Speaker 2: it's definitely me anyway. So then I have the dark
- 21:31Speaker 2: realization that I like I go in like the out
- 21:36Speaker 2: of body experience where like about like comes out of
- 21:38Speaker 2: the body and sits up in like what's going on?
- 21:40Speaker 2: And then like I'm looking at myself and this like
- 21:42Speaker 2: small woman that's rubbing my boobs that are actually the
- 21:45Speaker 2: same size as her. And then then I have the
- 21:48Speaker 2: realization somewhere somehow in another room sounds tits are also
- 21:55Speaker 2: out and she's probably crying. And I then fore like
- 22:01Speaker 2: the whole massage was trying not to laugh, like I
- 22:04Speaker 2: was literally pissing myself the whole time.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Need to figure out a way to like politely be like, no,
- 22:10Speaker 3: thank you. It was a whole thing anyway, So you
- 22:12Speaker 3: treat yourself to ape. It's not going to be like that.
- 22:15Speaker 3: You can rub your own breasts if you like, you're allowed.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Okay, date and before a digital detos very straightforward.
- 22:22Speaker 1: We know what this entales. But I think it's more
- 22:24Speaker 1: about like the tips that we can.
- 22:26Speaker 2: Do to achievement, actually do it, because I'm not gonna lie.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I would I very much struggle, not just subconsciously reaching
- 22:33Speaker 2: for my phone.
- 22:34Speaker 1: It's the subconscious muscle memory.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that this day is the hardest out
- 22:39Speaker 3: of any of the to achieve, even harder than they
- 22:41Speaker 3: get your shit done, sort your finances day.
- 22:45Speaker 1: I think it's more about setting boundaries because you are
- 22:48Speaker 1: like a baby.
- 22:50Speaker 2: So it's like one is putting a hairband around your
- 22:54Speaker 2: phone like a hairtye, because that like that stops that
- 22:57Speaker 2: subconscious reaching another one is turning your phone.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Onto like the negative screen. Oh so like when it
- 23:04Speaker 1: goes black and white. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so when you up,
- 23:06Speaker 1: you're like, oh that's ugly.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Well again, it's a physical reminder. You're like, oh, I
- 23:10Speaker 3: need to put my phone down. And also if you're
- 23:11Speaker 3: scrolling on TikTok, like if you ignore it and you're
- 23:14Speaker 3: like fuck it and you go on TikTok or Instagram,
- 23:16Speaker 3: it's not going to be it's not hitting when everything's
- 23:18Speaker 3: in black and white.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Because as well, I was seeing a video on TikTok
- 23:20Speaker 2: and she was saying, how like the colors give you
- 23:22Speaker 2: a dopamine hit makes sense.
- 23:24Speaker 1: And then another one is to just log out.
- 23:28Speaker 2: Because when you go and you tap thele Instagram mic,
- 23:31Speaker 2: when you tap the TikTok and it's like log and
- 23:32Speaker 2: you're like ah fac yeah, like never mind.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Yeah, And for a day like that is very achievable.
- 23:38Speaker 3: And if you have to, you know, use your phone
- 23:41Speaker 3: or screens for work, like obviously put that on a weekend.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Really you shouldn't be getting in trouble if there's an
- 23:46Speaker 3: email that's come through over the weekend and you haven't
- 23:48Speaker 3: seen it. Like there are literal laws that have been
- 23:50Speaker 3: put in place that stop bosses now from contacting their
- 23:55Speaker 3: employees outside of work hours.
- 23:56Speaker 1: So agreed.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Okay, Number five I think this is my second favorite
- 24:00Speaker 2: day is the back burner day.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Yeah. So the back burner day is the day.
- 24:06Speaker 2: For like some days, right, and it's the little projects
- 24:10Speaker 2: or ideas that you're like, oh, I need to do
- 24:13Speaker 2: that or I want to do that, but I just
- 24:15Speaker 2: I just don't have the time, and it's putting one
- 24:18Speaker 2: day a month just do those little back burner tasks
- 24:21Speaker 2: that maybe it's cleaning out your wardrobe and putting things
- 24:24Speaker 2: on deeper, or it's getting to that drawer that you're like,
- 24:26Speaker 2: what the fuck is in that draw?
- 24:28Speaker 1: And I hate it?
- 24:29Speaker 2: Yeah, and it and it makes me skin crawl. Yeah,
- 24:32Speaker 2: it's cleaning out that drunk draw or maybe it's looking
- 24:35Speaker 2: into the little side hustle that you want to start,
- 24:38Speaker 2: or setting up your ABM literally like even just painting.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Yeah, you know.
- 24:44Speaker 3: It's the things that when you're talking to people and
- 24:47Speaker 3: you always say like I really need to do that,
- 24:50Speaker 3: that's what this day is for, or even I really
- 24:53Speaker 3: want to do that. For example, if it's like cooking
- 24:55Speaker 3: a recipe that you've had bookmark for ages or yeah,
- 24:58Speaker 3: like a painting in the corner that's half in it.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Taking the garbage bags of clothes that you've been saying
- 25:03Speaker 2: you're going to take for Vinis for the last three months.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Yeah, just saying what's on your back burner right now?
- 25:09Speaker 3: On my back burner is you know that the drawer
- 25:13Speaker 3: you mentioned, that's every cupboard in my house currently, and
- 25:18Speaker 3: that happens usually once every six months. I do like
- 25:21Speaker 3: a declutter and then by the end of the six months,
- 25:24Speaker 3: every drawing cupboard is a junk drawer.
- 25:27Speaker 1: So that's what I need to do.
- 25:28Speaker 2: And that's why you need a whole day for it
- 25:30Speaker 2: as well, because you get to the like halfway through
- 25:32Speaker 2: the day and you're like the damn lit dad.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Yeah, or even just focusing on like one thing, like
- 25:37Speaker 3: one day I do the pantry.
- 25:39Speaker 2: The thing is, I think by having this as one
- 25:41Speaker 2: day of the month is like when you get to
- 25:44Speaker 2: that tired bit and you know you've maybe lost the
- 25:47Speaker 2: dough for mean of like starting a project or a job.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Yeah, they like message just around you.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and you're like, I just this is just one day.
- 25:54Speaker 2: If I just get through this today, yeah, don't have
- 25:58Speaker 2: to do it again and it will be so nice,
- 26:00Speaker 2: so naic, like literally decluttering my wardrobe the weekend I
- 26:06Speaker 2: got back from six weeks in Europe.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Weird time to pick it.
- 26:09Speaker 3: Diabolical but also diabolical behavior but felt amazing.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Yeah, And I did get halfway through and I was like, oh, yeah,
- 26:17Speaker 1: I want to do it.
- 26:18Speaker 2: And then I was like no, because this will feel
- 26:20Speaker 2: so good when I'm done. And I just have to
- 26:22Speaker 2: commit to doing it because the amount of times I'm like,
- 26:24Speaker 2: I've got to do that, I gotta do that, I
- 26:25Speaker 2: got to do that, it never happens.
- 26:27Speaker 3: Yeah, And there's never a good time to do it.
- 26:30Speaker 3: You always put it off something else you would prefer
- 26:32Speaker 3: to do.
- 26:33Speaker 2: So, oh, there's always something else you think deserves your
- 26:35Speaker 2: time more, whatever it is. That's why like the back
- 26:38Speaker 2: burner days, for like the little pot of rubbish that
- 26:40Speaker 2: you're like, oh, I put that there.
- 26:42Speaker 1: The things you put on the back burner, put them
- 26:44Speaker 1: on the front burner. Yeah. And number six intentional connection day.
- 26:50Speaker 1: What are you doing in your intentional connection day?
- 26:54Speaker 3: Oh?
- 26:54Speaker 1: Very good?
- 26:56Speaker 2: And this is basically like it's hanging out with your friends,
- 27:00Speaker 2: it's spending time with your partner, but it's not doing
- 27:02Speaker 2: the things that you know you always do.
- 27:04Speaker 1: It's not going out for drinks and getting with you
- 27:09Speaker 1: know every single time.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not sitting down and watching a movie with
- 27:14Speaker 2: your partner. Like, it's actually doing something contentional. You spend
- 27:17Speaker 2: time together and speak and like connect connect.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:21Speaker 2: And I wanted to reference like Tanya Hennessy who coined
- 27:25Speaker 2: the term like the catch up trap, and this is
- 27:27Speaker 2: the opposite of that. It's not the like, oh, how's
- 27:31Speaker 2: work and how's this and blah blah blah, Like trying
- 27:34Speaker 2: to actually build upon connection rather than sit in it.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Yeah, build new memories, yeah, and new things that you
- 27:42Speaker 3: can talk about and evolve your relationship.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Something that I've been doing because and I've said this
- 27:49Speaker 3: before that like a life lesson or a goal of
- 27:52Speaker 3: mine was to like reach out to my nad more.
- 27:55Speaker 1: And we have like a really nice relationship.
- 27:58Speaker 3: And we used to like go to the movies all
- 27:59Speaker 3: the time time and go out and do things. But
- 28:01Speaker 3: now that she's a little bit older, that can be
- 28:05Speaker 3: a little bit trickier to do.
- 28:07Speaker 1: So Chris and I have started every Sunday night we call.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Her and we do the footy tips with her because
- 28:13Speaker 3: in like the assisted living place that she lives, they
- 28:16Speaker 3: do like a footy tips competition every week. And when
- 28:20Speaker 3: I went to her house the other day, I saw
- 28:22Speaker 3: like the tipping sheet and I was like, Oh, who'd
- 28:24Speaker 3: you tip? And we were like running through it and
- 28:26Speaker 3: I was like, oh, I wouldn't have tipped them because
- 28:28Speaker 3: like this person's out this week and blah blah. And
- 28:30Speaker 3: so I was like, oh, would you like if we
- 28:32Speaker 3: call you every Sunday and we can do the footy
- 28:34Speaker 3: tips together? And then yes, we do the footy tips,
- 28:37Speaker 3: but then I'm like, how is your week?
- 28:38Speaker 1: What did you get up? Too good to have like
- 28:40Speaker 1: an anchor?
- 28:41Speaker 3: Yeah, and then we actually will end up talking for
- 28:44Speaker 3: you know, like forty minutes and catching up on each
- 28:46Speaker 3: other's weeks and whatever. But yeah, it's an anchor that
- 28:50Speaker 3: I put in, and that's like a very intentional connection
- 28:53Speaker 3: thing that I've been doing every Sunday night.
- 28:55Speaker 1: It's a fucking best good. Yeah.
- 28:58Speaker 2: I love that, But I think as well, well, again,
- 29:01Speaker 2: when we run down these and you know, go into
- 29:04Speaker 2: the details of what they are, it can sound like
- 29:06Speaker 2: a lot, but again, it's only six days and the
- 29:10Speaker 2: reason why these matter, and I think individually, none of
- 29:13Speaker 2: these are earth shattering, right, Yeah, you're like.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Whoa, now that's digital detox. Wow, that's crazy.
- 29:21Speaker 2: But when you combine these six days together, you create
- 29:26Speaker 2: balance because when you look at it, you have a
- 29:30Speaker 2: day for responsibility, a day for rest, a day for joy,
- 29:34Speaker 2: a day for detox, a day for creativity, and a
- 29:37Speaker 2: day for connection.
- 29:38Speaker 1: And if you can get all of those six things
- 29:41Speaker 1: a month, you're better than everyone else. Yeah, you're slaying. Well.
- 29:45Speaker 3: The thing is is that typically we don't put aside
- 29:48Speaker 3: six days for these things, and yet all of these
- 29:51Speaker 3: things are some of the most important things in our life.
- 29:53Speaker 1: If not the most important six things in your life.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Yeah, so like you should at least be setting aside
- 29:58Speaker 3: six days for these things because that's what is important
- 30:01Speaker 3: and what will make you happy.
- 30:02Speaker 1: And that's from your too, mummies. Young lady. Now get
- 30:05Speaker 1: my lap, it's back on the bottom. Now go do
- 30:08Speaker 1: your digital datetoks, love and your home. Maybe go have
- 30:14Speaker 1: my six days on one day. I'm going to have
- 30:18Speaker 1: my Auntie's social day tomorrow. This recording. I need space. Yeah, no,
- 30:25Speaker 1: I'm kidding.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I love you obviously obviously let me in.
- 30:33Speaker 1: On that note.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Chick, speaking of wriggling, in. We love to have be
- 30:36Speaker 3: in your holes today. It's fabulous to be here. Love you,
- 30:39Speaker 3: I hate you. THANKSKA happen.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Love you chicks. See you next time, see you next time.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Come back. Say when you're here. Bye. Love you,
