- 0:02Speaker 1: Hi, this is Captain America. You know, when you get
- 0:12Speaker 1: all riled up to listen to your favorite podcast and
- 0:15Speaker 1: then you get there and it's a fundraiser episode. That's
- 0:20Speaker 1: what we have here today. Mostly because you haven't been
- 0:25Speaker 1: supporting your favorite podcast. So don't go and leave your
- 0:30Speaker 1: meltdown gang stuck in a foxhole. Kick in two bucks
- 0:34Speaker 1: and save them. You can be the hero that we
- 0:37Speaker 1: all know you can be.
- 0:38Speaker 2: I'm all right, guys.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Get on this. Guilt trip. Come on.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Yes, please donate, because if you're listening to this show
- 0:46Speaker 2: without donating, it's like you're stealing. You wouldn't steal a car.
- 0:53Speaker 1: We need some really weird footage of someone badly pretending
- 0:57Speaker 1: to steal a car. But this one you're not listening
- 1:00Speaker 1: to anyway if you're not donating because you're not supporting
- 1:04Speaker 1: the team, so you're missing out. Doesn't it suck when
- 1:06Speaker 1: you miss out on all the cool stuff? Because we've
- 1:09Speaker 1: been doing a lot of the superhero series that end.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Up on our special Patreon feed.
- 1:15Speaker 2: And those are the good shows.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Those really are. Like, it is surprising how people still... Like,
- 1:20Speaker 1: you would think, oh, everybody's talking about that. Nobody cares. No. Like,
- 1:23Speaker 1: the Guardians went out on the normal feed, and it's
- 1:26Speaker 1: like one of the biggest episodes we've had lately. Fantastic.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Once again, if you want to cash in on that
- 1:32Speaker 1: and listen to awesome talking about Spider-Man, go to MovieMeltdown.com.
- 1:39Speaker 1: The Patreon link is right there at the top. Kick
- 1:41Speaker 1: in like two bucks. You can help save the show
- 1:45Speaker 1: and hear us say awesome things like this. okay, so
- 1:48Speaker 1: this is like a stereotype of everything a teenager is,
- 1:52Speaker 1: except they didn't jerk off at any point. This isn't kick-ass.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Because there's plenty of that in kick-ass. They didn't allude
- 2:00Speaker 1: to it anyways. But there wasn't any of that. The
- 2:04Speaker 1: Marvel way has been like, no, we've heard that you
- 2:07Speaker 1: guys want it to be in the real world. So
- 2:10Speaker 1: this entire villain is built out of the fallout from
- 2:15Speaker 1: what these heroes are continually creating. And like, I love
- 2:19Speaker 1: that because you're watching this guy is like, again, totally
- 2:23Speaker 1: working class and just sort of dealing with the mess
- 2:25Speaker 1: that they've made. And then goes, oh, You know what?
- 2:29Speaker 1: They're leaving a lot of stuff around here.
- 2:30Speaker 3: I wish they would have mentioned this kind of stuff
- 2:32Speaker 3: in Civil War. I feel like it's a much more
- 2:34Speaker 3: direct connection with superhero and crime. It shows like, yeah,
- 2:38Speaker 3: you guys are doing good things, but you have created
- 2:41Speaker 3: new evil networks and stuff because you're not kind of
- 2:44Speaker 3: doing it right. We need to be better about it.
- 2:46Speaker 2: This whole, hey, I was a kid too once. Have fun.
- 2:51Speaker 1: The comment about the body change was weird.
- 2:54Speaker 2: That was a little odd. But I think it was
- 2:57Speaker 2: supposed to be awkward.
- 2:58Speaker 1: And the fact that she had no problem.
- 2:59Speaker 2: No one has ever had that conversation and said, I
- 3:01Speaker 2: am so glad I had this conversation.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Yeah, with their aunt and the aunt is being portrayed
- 3:05Speaker 1: as kind of like this sexualized. Oh, she was hot.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I'm not going to lie. Yeah, she was hot. And
- 3:09Speaker 1: then they were definitely bringing attention to that. It's like,
- 3:12Speaker 1: everybody's trying to get what they meant.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I mean, I was waiting for Ned to make sense
- 3:14Speaker 2: of it.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Your body's going through changes.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I was like, oh, this is weird.
- 3:17Speaker 1: The fact that she....
- 3:20Speaker 3: It's hard to call him evil. I think that was
- 3:23Speaker 3: the thing with Peter that he was learning. He was
- 3:26Speaker 3: kind of immature in his black or white sense of it.
- 3:28Speaker 3: And I think by the end he was realizing it's great.
- 3:31Speaker 3: There isn't clear-cut bad guy, clear-cut good guy. This is
- 3:34Speaker 3: a good father that has to do bad stuff.
- 3:36Speaker 1: It was very Breaking Bad.
- 3:39Speaker 3: It was Breaking Bad.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I will do whatever it takes to take care of
- 3:43Speaker 1: my family. And you're kind of like, well, I have
- 3:45Speaker 1: to kind of respect that. I mean, a little, not
- 3:48Speaker 1: to the point of killing people, but at the same time,
- 3:51Speaker 1: that's a fine line.
- 3:52Speaker 2: And there's even that, there was a line, oh.
- 3:56Speaker 1: My God.
- 3:57Speaker 2: And right up to that point, I was sitting there thinking,
- 4:00Speaker 2: you know, this movie's good, but we need, it could
- 4:02Speaker 2: use some more Michael Keaton in it. Not as the vulture,
- 4:05Speaker 2: but as moots or whatever. That character's name is.
- 4:09Speaker 3: He's a villain with a believable motive and great personality.
- 4:14Speaker 2: And then I'm thinking that, and then he shows up,
- 4:17Speaker 2: and you get the big reveal, and it's like.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Halfway through that movie, I'm like, I kind of respect
- 4:24Speaker 1: this guy, because yes, he's pushing these brothers to do
- 4:27Speaker 1: stuff they don't want to do, but he's also being
- 4:29Speaker 1: super forward-thinking and being like, no, look, I have this dream,
- 4:33Speaker 1: and I have this grand thing, and I want... Again, as, like, America, like,
- 4:37Speaker 1: he just wants to be successful. And eventually it's, I
- 4:40Speaker 1: want to be successful at any cost. But before that, like,
- 4:43Speaker 1: before he hits that point, like, it's a three-fourths of
- 4:45Speaker 1: the way movie.
- 4:46Speaker 2: But isn't that a supervillain, though?
- 4:48Speaker 1: And that's the thing. I'm like, it's not, it's a
- 4:50Speaker 1: shade different in this movie. Because I'm like... it's the
- 4:53Speaker 1: same thing. I'm like, I still kind of respect him
- 4:55Speaker 1: most of the way through that movie and this movie.
- 4:57Speaker 1: I'm like, he's just driven and he's driven to the
- 5:00Speaker 1: point of wanting to.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Be the best he can be.
- 5:02Speaker 1: And that's the fucking American dream. Like, so all it
- 5:06Speaker 1: takes is that tweak to the other side to be like, oh,
- 5:09Speaker 1: and then I'm going to hurt people, you know?
- 5:10Speaker 3: So it's like, that's why he's such a good character.
- 5:13Speaker 3: It was hard for me to even like see him
- 5:15Speaker 3: as bad until that moment.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So anyway, Go to MovieMeltdown.com. Support the show. Listen to
