Transcript
- 0:15Welcome back to Part 3 of Faith in the Furlough.
- 0:18I'm Doctor J Nicole, and today's encouragement is simple but
- 0:22powerful captivity does not mean defeat.
- 0:25If you've been impacted by the furlough, I know you may feel
- 0:28like you've been sidelined or you may even feel stuck in your
- 0:32situation and and it's a situation that you didn't choose
- 0:36right. I want to remind you that God's
- 0:39people have been here before and every single time God has shown
- 0:46up. So our anchoring scripture for
- 0:48today comes from Jeremiah 29, verses 4 through 7.
- 0:51This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all
- 0:55those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.
- 1:00Build houses and settle down. Plant gardens and eat what they
- 1:05produce. Marry and have sons and
- 1:07daughters. Also seek the peace and
- 1:10prosperity of the city. So which I've carried you into
- 1:14exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because
- 1:17if it prospers, you too will prosper.
- 1:20Even in exile. God gave His people instructions
- 1:24to live, to build and to thrive. OK, so just, like, really think
- 1:30about it. God's people were taken from
- 1:32their homeland, from new jobs, from the routines, and placed in
- 1:35Babylon. That's exile right?
- 1:38Now, a furlough isn't the same as exile, but it can feel like
- 1:43captivity. You didn't choose it.
- 1:45It's disrupted your life and makes you wonder if you'll ever
- 1:49return to normal. But here's the key difference.
- 1:52Exile was about displacement and furlough is about AWS.
- 1:58Neither one was meant to erase God's people and neither one can
- 2:03erase you. Just as he told Israel to plant
- 2:07gardens and build homes and and build homes in Babylon, he's
- 2:11telling you don't stop living because of this.
- 2:14AWS don't shrink back. This is a season where you can
- 2:19grow. I know it's tempting to see
- 2:22furlough as defeat, but the enemy is a liar, OK?
- 2:27And this is not the end of your story.
- 2:30You know, you may feel limited, but God's Word says seek the
- 2:36peace and prosperity of the place you are in.
- 2:39Seek the peace and prosperity of the place that you are in.
- 2:43In other words, even here in this moment of furlough, even
- 2:47now, you can prosper. You can thrive in the furlough
- 2:52not by pretending that it's easy, but by remembering that
- 2:55God's promises don't pause just because you're paycheck done.
- 2:59God is bringing some wonderful things out of people in this
- 3:02time, and sometimes you need that break in order to make it
- 3:07happen. This pause is an opportunity to
- 3:10make them. Here's something I want you to
- 3:12try this week. I want you to make a list of one
- 3:15new thing that you can plants in this season.
- 3:19It could be planting a financial seed.
- 3:22That could look like budgeting differently.
- 3:24Maybe you want to invest some money.
- 3:27This could look like planting a personal seed, starting a side
- 3:30hustle or getting a certification.
- 3:33Planting a spiritual seed. Maybe it's joining a Bible study
- 3:36group or committing to daily prayer.
- 3:39Starting a plan in the Bible. Remember, seeds don't grow
- 3:44overnight, but they do grow, and what you plant during the
- 3:49furlough can bear fruit after it is.
- 3:52So let me leave you with this. Exile was not the end of God's
- 3:56people, and furlough was certainly not the end of you.
- 4:00Captivity is temporary and your destiny is eternal.
- 4:05Let us pray, Lord, thank you that even in the times that feel
- 4:09like captivity, you give us instructions to live, to plant
- 4:14and survive. Remind us that our identity is
- 4:19not tied to the job, but to your Kingdom.
- 4:23Help us to plant good seeds during this season, during this
- 4:27fall and let us see in due season Jesus name, Amen.
- 4:35So if this bless you, share this with someone else who's impacted
- 4:38by the furlough. Make sure you subscribe so you
- 4:41don't miss Episode 4 and episode 4.
- 4:45We'll be talking about walking through the fiery furnace of
- 4:49finance and how God shows up in the fire.
- 4:52Remember, you are in captivity maybe, but you are never
- 4:58defeated. I'll see you next time.
