- 0:11Hello friends, it's Sean. Here it is Friday, the end of
- 0:17another week. It has been a fresh, fresh week
- 0:21in my part of the world. I hope you have gone well.
- 0:23And here as we ready ourselves for the weekend.
- 0:28Steady on Sean. As we ready ourselves for the
- 0:30last day before the weekend, here we are to take a moment out
- 0:34of the big day that we have and come before God and to finish
- 0:39the longest Sam in the world. Yes, we're gonna finish off Sam
- 0:44119. The last two weeks we've read
- 0:48seven of the stanzas, and today we'll read the final eight
- 0:52stanzas, the final eight letters of the Hebrew alphabet as we
- 0:56hear this poem, this song, this Psalm, all about the greatness
- 1:01and beauty and glory of God's Word.
- 1:05And that is an absolute privilege that we have today, to
- 1:10be able to come together and to read this very word, to hear
- 1:13what God has to say throughout time and space into our lives.
- 1:18Right where you are, God is going to speak to you through
- 1:22these sons. His Spirit will use these words
- 1:25to transform a little corner of your heart, your soul and your
- 1:29mind. Wow, that is what we are doing
- 1:32today. We are not just reading some
- 1:34words, we are giving an invitation to the God of the
- 1:37Universe to truly move in us and our days.
- 1:42So let us do just that. Holy Spirit, come.
- 1:46May these words open us up and reveal something of you fresh so
- 1:52that we can be amazed and delighted by you.
- 1:58All right, friends, let's do it. Let us read together Sama 119
- 2:03from verse 113 all the way to the end.
- 2:18Samik, I hate those with divided loyalties, but I love your
- 2:24instructions. You are my refuge and my shield.
- 2:28Your word is my source of hope. Get out of my life you evil
- 2:33minded people, for I intend to obey the commands of my God.
- 2:38Lord sustained me as you promised that I may live.
- 2:42Do not let my hope be crushed. Sustain me and I will be
- 2:47rescued. Then I will meditate continually
- 2:50on your decrees. But you have rejected all who
- 2:54stray from your decrees. They are only fooling
- 2:57themselves. You skim off the wicked of the
- 3:00earth like scum. No wonder I love to obey your
- 3:04laws. I tremble in fear of you.
- 3:08I stand in awe of your regulations, alien.
- 3:15Don't leave me to the mercy of my enemies, for I have done what
- 3:19is just and right. Please guarantee a blessing for
- 3:23me. Don't let the arrogant oppress
- 3:25me. My eyes strained to see your
- 3:29rescue, to see the truth of your promise fulfilled.
- 3:33I am your servant. Deal with me in unfailing love
- 3:37and teach me your decrees. Give discernment to me, your
- 3:42servant. Then I will understand your
- 3:45laws. Lord, it is time for you to act,
- 3:50for these evil people have violated your instructions.
- 3:54Truly, I love your commands more than gold, even the finest gold.
- 4:00Each of your commandments is right.
- 4:03That is why I hate every false way pay.
- 4:10Your laws are wonderful, no wonder I obey them.
- 4:14The teaching of your word gives light so even the simple can
- 4:18understand. I pant with expectation, longing
- 4:22for your commands. Come and show me Your mercy, as
- 4:26you do for all who love your name.
- 4:29Guide my steps by Your word so I will not be overcome by evil.
- 4:35Ransom me from the oppression of evil people, then I can obey
- 4:40your commandments. Look upon me with love.
- 4:44Teach me your decrees. Rivers of tears gushed from my
- 4:48eyes because people disobey your instructions.
- 4:54Saturday. Our Lord, you are righteous and
- 4:59your regulations are fair. Your laws are perfect and
- 5:03completely trustworthy. I am overwhelmed with
- 5:07indignation, for my enemies have disregarded your words.
- 5:12Your promises have been thoroughly tested.
- 5:15That is why I love them so much. I am insignificant and despised,
- 5:21but I don't forget your commandments.
- 5:24Your justice is eternal and your instructions are perfectly true.
- 5:30As pressure and stress bear down on me, I find joy in your
- 5:35commands. Your laws are always right.
- 5:39Help me to understand them so I may live, quoth I pray with all
- 5:49my heart. Answer me, Lord, I will obey
- 5:52your decrees. I cry out to you.
- 5:56Rescue me that I may obey your laws.
- 6:00All rise early, before the sun is up.
- 6:03I cry out for help and put my hope in your words.
- 6:08I stay awake through the night thinking about your promise in
- 6:13your faithful love. Oh Lord, hear my cry.
- 6:17Let me be revived by following your regulations.
- 6:21Lawless people are coming to attack me.
- 6:24They live far from your instructions, but you are near
- 6:29our Lord, and all your commands are true.
- 6:32I have known from my earliest days that your laws will last
- 6:36forever. Rash, look upon my suffering and
- 6:43rescue me, for I have not forgotten your instructions.
- 6:48Argue my case, take my side, protect my life as you promised.
- 6:53The wicked are far from rescue, for they do not bother with your
- 6:57decrees. Lord, how great is your mercy?
- 7:01Let me be revived by following your regulations.
- 7:06Many persecute and troubled me, yet I have not swerved from your
- 7:10laws. Seeing these traitors makes me
- 7:14sick at heart because they care nothing for Your word.
- 7:18See how I love your commandments, Lord, Give back my
- 7:22life because of Your unfailing love.
- 7:25The very essence of all your words is truth.
- 7:29All your just regulations will stand forever, Shin.
- 7:37Powerful people harass me without cause, but my heart
- 7:41trembles only at your word. I rejoice in your word like one
- 7:47who discovers a great treasure. I hate and abore all falsehood,
- 7:53but I love your instructions. I will praise you seven times a
- 7:57day because all your regulations are just those who love your
- 8:02instructions. Have great peace and do not
- 8:06stumble. I long for your rescue, Lord.
- 8:10So I have obeyed your commands. I have obeyed your laws, for I
- 8:15love them very much. Yes, I obey your commandments
- 8:19and laws because you know everything I do Tor our Lord.
- 8:29Listen to my cry. Give me the discerning mind you
- 8:33promised. Listen to my prayer.
- 8:36Rescue me as you promised. Let praise flow from my lips,
- 8:41for you have taught me your decrees.
- 8:44Let my tongue sing about your word, for all your commands are
- 8:48right. Give me a helping hand, for I
- 8:51have chosen to follow your commandments.
- 8:54I'll Lord, I have longed for your rescue and your
- 8:58instructions are my delight. Let me live so I can praise you
- 9:04and may your regulations help me.
- 9:08I have wandered away like a lost sheep.
- 9:11Come and find me, for I have not forgotten your commands.
- 9:24Our Lord, as we hear the psalmist celebrate your words,
- 9:28Your decrees, Your laws, and Your instruction.
- 9:32Help our hearts too, be filled with joy as we reflect on all
- 9:39that you have said and done. Thank You that you don't leave
- 9:44us wandering through the proverbial wilderness in our
- 9:47lives, but that you guide us. This pillar of cloud, this tower
- 9:53of fire is your word. It is the Bible that you give us
- 9:59that we can come to each day and be transformed and know what it
- 10:05is that Your truth would have us do in our lives of worship to
- 10:10you. Ah, thank you Jesus, thank you
- 10:14for the gift of Your Word. You are the Word and here we
- 10:18have you and your Spirit inspired words to shape our
- 10:22days. Thank you for the opportunity to
- 10:25come every day, just one chapter at a time, to sit at your feet
- 10:31to have your word transform us. We are so grateful for the gift
- 10:36of Your word, and we celebrate it.
- 10:39We celebrate you and we praise You.
- 10:42And in Your name we pray. Ah, man.
