0:59
SPEAKER_03: Hi, and welcome to this episode of Sassin's Sips.
1:03
SPEAKER_03: Today we're gonna talk about Lost Confirmed Dead Season 4, Episode 2.
1:09
SPEAKER_03: I'm one of your hosts, I'm Lisa.
1:11
SPEAKER_00: And I'm Agnes.
1:12
SPEAKER_03: And what are you drinking today, Agnes?
1:15
SPEAKER_00: It's still early for me.
1:17
SPEAKER_00: I'm drinking my morning coffee with a little oomph of love in it.
1:21
SPEAKER_00: Uh so I can make it through the day.
1:26
SPEAKER_03: That sounds delicious.
1:28
SPEAKER_03: I, you know, it's Sunday, it's the day for Jesus juice.
1:33
SPEAKER_03: So I'm drinking some charaz.
1:36
SPEAKER_03: I don't know if that's what Jesus preferred, but it's a little red wine.
1:41
SPEAKER_00: I mean, eventually it'll turn into water.
1:43
SPEAKER_00: So you're good.
1:44
SPEAKER_00: You're hydrating.
1:45
SPEAKER_03: I thought it was the other way around.
1:47
SPEAKER_03: Didn't he turn water into wine?
1:48
SPEAKER_00: He turned water into wine.
1:50
SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's right.
1:51
SPEAKER_00: Um, so it was water.
1:54
SPEAKER_03: It was water, right?
1:55
SPEAKER_03: So we're hydrating.
1:56
SPEAKER_00: Until he blessed it.
1:57
SPEAKER_00: There you go.
2:02
SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry.
2:03
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, such a between.
2:08
SPEAKER_03: I went to Six Flags yesterday and I'm fucking exhausted.
2:13
SPEAKER_03: So we like they had like all the Fright Fest and everything.
2:17
SPEAKER_03: And my little one walked around covering her ears the whole time because she was freaking out by the music and the and the clowns and stuff.
2:28
SPEAKER_03: My mother threatened like two of them.
2:31
SPEAKER_03: She went like this to backhand one of them.
2:34
SPEAKER_03: I turned around and I see the cop the clown on the floor.
2:38
SPEAKER_03: I was like, oh my god, did you hit him?
2:39
SPEAKER_03: And she's like, No, I don't know why he was on the floor.
2:41
SPEAKER_03: I was like, maybe he tripped.
2:44
SPEAKER_03: She's like, I swear I didn't touch him.
2:46
SPEAKER_00: Okay, so if anyone asks, I believe her.
2:49
SPEAKER_03: But listen, I mean, I was like, that's the second clown I saw you threaten.
2:55
SPEAKER_03: And she's like, I just don't want him to come near me.
2:57
SPEAKER_03: And if he comes near me, I'm just telling him what's gonna happen.
3:00
SPEAKER_03: Today we're gonna talk about confirmed dead.
3:04
SPEAKER_03: This episode is just a little bit different than what we've been used to seeing.
3:10
SPEAKER_03: So it introduces four new characters.
3:22
SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
3:24
SPEAKER_03: I think he has something to say about this episode too.
3:28
SPEAKER_00: I would have to agree if he if he could hear.
3:32
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
3:35
SPEAKER_03: First impressions when watching it, were you like, what the actual fuck?
3:40
SPEAKER_03: What the actual fuck the whole time?
3:43
SPEAKER_00: Actually, no.
3:44
SPEAKER_00: I'm I think for the I mean they had to go really kind of berserk for me to do what the fuck at this point of watching the episode watching the show.
3:54
SPEAKER_03: I expect how it opens and then okay.
4:00
SPEAKER_00: First scene, I was like, and I caught on right away.
4:03
SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh so this is what we're doing now.
4:07
SPEAKER_00: Um but was it like oh my god, what the actual fuck?
4:10
SPEAKER_00: Nah.
4:11
SPEAKER_03: Okay.
4:12
SPEAKER_00: But tell you what Lush does for me.
4:16
SPEAKER_00: Every episode, I'm like, okay, I just have to get to this one episode, I can make it.
4:20
SPEAKER_00: And then like the last five minutes, I'm like, yes, next episode.
4:26
SPEAKER_00: And it got me, it got me.
4:28
SPEAKER_00: And then 15 minutes later, into the next episode, I'm like, I just have to like, okay, I gotta make it to the episode, I gotta make it to the episode, and in the last five minutes, the cycle repeats itself.
4:36
SPEAKER_00: It has to be about the last five minutes and the first 15, and the rest of the stuff like every single episode.
4:44
SPEAKER_03: Losses like your abusive spouse.
4:47
SPEAKER_01: It's a very toxic relationship.
4:54
SPEAKER_03: Okay, that's fair.
4:55
SPEAKER_03: That is fair because it it yeah.
4:58
SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna get into the whole thing, but we've got a what the fuck moment at the beginning.
5:02
SPEAKER_03: We've got four new characters.
5:05
SPEAKER_03: Ready?
5:06
SPEAKER_00: I'm ready.
5:07
SPEAKER_00: Let's do this.
5:08
SPEAKER_03: The episode opens underwater, and we see two remotely operated vehicles, ROVs, that are probing the ocean floor.
5:18
SPEAKER_03: The vantage point is rove one, and then it switches to rove two.
5:23
SPEAKER_03: There's a dialogue between the two technicians, and the ROV display doesn't specify any information like the boat or the research team, it just shows, like, you know, the depth, the signal, that kind of thing.
5:38
SPEAKER_03: The operator claims that the sonar is picking up something, and the operator of Rove 2 says that he's heading on a bearing of about 137 from the coordinates we pulled off of our guy's map.
5:53
SPEAKER_03: So I I actually had to go back because I'm like, remember when Michael gets off the island and they put him in the boat, and then they're like, if you just stay on a bearing of whatever, that's the only way to get out.
6:06
SPEAKER_03: Yes, and I couldn't rem I actually couldn't remember, so I had to go back to see if it was the same.
6:11
SPEAKER_00: I'm surprised you didn't remember.
6:13
SPEAKER_03: I know, but no, it was it was 325.
6:17
SPEAKER_03: I did remember like more or less what episode it was in, though, but um, so yeah, so this one is 137, and the bearings that Michael had to follow to get off the island with Walt was 325, so it wasn't the same.
6:31
SPEAKER_03: And I was like, is it half?
6:32
SPEAKER_03: Is it like no, there's there's no relation that I could find.
6:38
SPEAKER_03: He also goes on to say that his magnetometer is picking up a lot of anomalies, and he suggests he needs to recalibrate.
6:48
SPEAKER_03: The rove comes across the wreckage of an oceanic airline airlines plane, airlines, and the operator declares it as flight 815.
7:01
SPEAKER_03: We see the entire plane broken into three connected pieces.
7:07
SPEAKER_03: Did you have any thoughts when you just saw the plane at the bottom?
7:11
SPEAKER_00: My first thought was the planes together.
7:15
SPEAKER_00: That was my first thought.
7:18
SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, and then I'm like obviously back to was it just at was it last week's episode or the week before?
7:24
SPEAKER_00: I don't know anymore.
7:25
SPEAKER_00: But anyway, and uh like oh, like okay, so this is where the whole what's like question because it's a space-time continuum.
7:36
SPEAKER_00: I don't know, but um okay, this is the beginning of the end of my sanity.
7:41
SPEAKER_00: Got it.
7:42
SPEAKER_00: Cool.
7:42
SPEAKER_00: Um, that was legit my first thought.
7:48
SPEAKER_00: I'm able to come.
7:50
SPEAKER_00: Okay, so the reason I have so much time to have these wild and fanciful thoughts is because I have to pause it to like jot down my notes.
7:58
SPEAKER_00: Because I learned that I can't watch or write notes with the show because some things aren't said, things are done, looks are given, and so I pause, I write my little note, and I'm like, okay, this is the beginning of the end for my brain.
8:09
SPEAKER_00: Great, this is it.
8:10
SPEAKER_00: Unpause.
8:11
SPEAKER_00: So I'm my brain doesn't really work as fast as I get the impression that it does.
8:20
SPEAKER_03: I mean, does any of ours?
8:22
SPEAKER_03: But I mean, you have a medical reason.
8:24
SPEAKER_00: I don't know what my excuse is, but I mean, I I I claim that's my reason.
8:30
SPEAKER_00: I just think I'm just not as smart.
8:33
SPEAKER_03: Um, considering your trajectory in school, I think you were way smarter, but anyway.
8:41
SPEAKER_03: And I did, and what did I do, kid?
8:43
SPEAKER_03: So well, that's not the point.
8:46
SPEAKER_03: The point is that you have the capacity.
8:52
SPEAKER_03: But not the will.
8:53
SPEAKER_03: Okay, back to lost.
8:55
SPEAKER_03: All right.
8:56
SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna do this more or less in order this time.
9:00
SPEAKER_03: We cut to a scene where a news report is showing footage of a submerged plane and explains that the remains of Flight 815 have been found by the Christian one in the Sun Sunda Trench, which is located off the coast of Bali.
9:15
SPEAKER_03: The reporter says Oceanic 815 did in fact crash at sea, but says the discovery does not offer any sense of closure.
9:24
SPEAKER_03: All the passengers are confirmed dead.
9:28
SPEAKER_03: We see Daniel Faraday is the one watching the news report, and he is in Essex, Massachusetts.
9:35
SPEAKER_03: He's crying while he's watching the news.
9:39
SPEAKER_03: His caretaker asks him why he is so upset, and he replies that he doesn't know.
10:14
SPEAKER_00: Okay, that scene kind of um, I was like, my my initial thought was why the fuck aren't you crying?
10:25
SPEAKER_00: Because you know you see something that horrific and like, oh my god, these people, most people's reaction would be to cry.
10:35
SPEAKER_00: Like the last I don't I won't say 20 plus years actually, but the last especially the last three, four years, I've watched some shit happen on TV that doesn't affect me at all, and I'm just boo-hooing because oh my fucking god.
10:51
SPEAKER_00: So it was weird for her to ask why you're crying was kind of weird to me.
10:56
SPEAKER_00: And this was obviously after 9-11, so we had a whole world that watched something that didn't affect them directly, but you can do nothing but watch your TVs and just cry.
11:11
SPEAKER_00: So I was like, Yeah, that's fair.
11:15
SPEAKER_03: On the island, Daniel Faraday and three other people are on a helicopter which is struggling to stay in the air.
11:23
SPEAKER_03: Miles pushes a scared Faraday out of the chopper.
11:28
SPEAKER_03: Faraday then activates his parachute and lands with the thud.
11:32
SPEAKER_03: He's still scared and disoriented.
11:34
SPEAKER_03: He hears people approaching and readies a handgun which he hides in his belt around his back.
11:41
SPEAKER_03: Jack and Kate arrive.
11:42
SPEAKER_03: Still disoriented, he introduces himself and says he's there to rescue them.
11:48
SPEAKER_03: Dan's phone is lost, so Jack offers his phone.
11:52
SPEAKER_03: Daniel calls George, who asks what happened as the chopper's communications had gone dead.
11:58
SPEAKER_03: Daniel says he doesn't know, in the electrical storm, everything went dead and he jumped out.
12:04
SPEAKER_03: He then says he's speaking with some of the survivors.
12:07
SPEAKER_03: George asks if he's on speaker, and Daniel excuses himself.
12:11
SPEAKER_03: Kate tells Jack not to worry, and Jack says, You sure about that?
12:16
SPEAKER_03: as he points his head towards the gun that Daniel has in his pants.
12:22
SPEAKER_03: Daniel returns, telling them that the ship has no communication with anyone else.
12:26
SPEAKER_03: He doesn't know where the rest of his team is, but they all have GPS units which allow their satellite phones to track them.
12:35
SPEAKER_03: We cut to Locke's group, and Sawyer realizes that they aren't moving in the direction of the barracks.
12:41
SPEAKER_03: Locke explains that they have to take a detour to a cabin.
12:44
SPEAKER_03: Hurley tells Locke that the cabin is in a different direction, and Locke and Ben are both surprised to hear Hurley talking about the cabin, which prompts Hurley to awkwardly say that he was referring to the planes cabin.
13:01
SPEAKER_00: Hurley is so not smooth, but No, he's so unsmooth.
13:06
SPEAKER_00: I think that makes him his own Hurley smooth.
13:09
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
13:10
SPEAKER_00: I'm trying to give him his props.
13:14
SPEAKER_03: Locke explains to Sawyer that Walt has been guiding him and told him he had work to do and that he had to stop Naomi from bringing the rest of her people.
13:26
SPEAKER_03: Locke tells Sawyer that Walt saves his life after Ben shot him.
13:31
SPEAKER_03: Locke proves to a doubtful Sawyer that he was shot by showing him his wound.
13:37
SPEAKER_03: Because he's like, wait, he shot you and you're just here.
13:42
SPEAKER_03: And he says that he probably would have died if he still had a kidney where the bullet passed clean through.
13:51
SPEAKER_00: And Walt.
13:52
SPEAKER_00: I would like to see Walt.
13:55
SPEAKER_00: Like X was it?
13:57
SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't how long has it been since he left?
14:00
SPEAKER_00: Like on the show.
14:00
SPEAKER_00: Not in real life, but on Showtime.
14:02
SPEAKER_00: How long was it been?
14:04
SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
14:05
SPEAKER_02: It it's been a few weeks.
14:09
SPEAKER_00: Right, it wasn't that long.
14:11
SPEAKER_00: I feel like it's been forever.
14:13
SPEAKER_00: But right.
14:14
SPEAKER_03: But on the on the real life side of it, it's been at least months, right?
14:22
SPEAKER_03: So then that's where they make a joke because they're like, it was like Walt, but taller.
14:25
SPEAKER_03: You know, but taller.
14:27
SPEAKER_03: He aged.
14:29
SPEAKER_00: Will World, but is it did Walt make it through one season or two season?
14:34
SPEAKER_00: I think it was one season.
14:35
SPEAKER_03: Oh, he did two seasons?
14:36
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he left.
14:37
SPEAKER_03: Remember, the the end of season one, he got kidnapped.
14:40
SPEAKER_00: Gotcha.
14:41
SPEAKER_03: And then at the end of season two, they sent him back.
14:44
SPEAKER_03: They put him on the boat with Michael and sent, you know, because Michael had to free Ben and bring right.
14:52
SPEAKER_03: And that was in exchange for the book.
14:54
SPEAKER_00: But I feel like real world time closer to a year because of the strike, maybe.
15:02
SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
15:03
SPEAKER_00: So I feel like it was like, yeah.
15:06
SPEAKER_00: But it's funny, the reason I want to say I want to see him now is because I think okay, so real world time is it's been a long time, and obviously he didn't come back because of puberty, and it was like, um, yeah, this isn't gonna work anymore.
15:21
SPEAKER_00: Um, but I think it would have worked for lost purposes to see like pubested Walt do with like a cameo.
15:29
SPEAKER_00: And they're like, what the like as far as like the whole loss and the obviously they're just they're in a whole different world than the rest of the world is.
15:36
SPEAKER_00: So I think it would have right, it would have fit.
15:39
SPEAKER_00: They could have got it to fit.
15:42
SPEAKER_00: You heard that lost writers?
15:43
SPEAKER_00: You could have made it work.
15:46
SPEAKER_03: They probably could have if they tried, but I mean I mean, all the shit that they write.
15:54
SPEAKER_00: You try to say, I mean you you couldn't get a uh a post pubescent boy in there somehow, right?
16:00
SPEAKER_00: But you can make this other weird shit work.
16:03
SPEAKER_00: They didn't try.
16:05
SPEAKER_03: Over at the beach, Saeed asks Juliet why, based on her experience with the others and the knowledge of the others, that Ben would say that the people from the freighter intend to harm them.
16:17
SPEAKER_03: Juliet, Juliet gives like the most politician answer ever.
16:21
SPEAKER_03: She says that Ben lies, and the lie could be to create fear.
16:25
SPEAKER_03: But then she says that these people could also be here to harm them.
16:30
SPEAKER_01: So where your guns at?
16:32
SPEAKER_00: Like, I mean, if you think about it, I mean, I'm with Juliet's part, is that whole, like, hey, he's a liar, but at the same time, he may not be wrong.
16:42
SPEAKER_00: Right.
16:42
SPEAKER_00: Just like my mantra, prepare for the worst, but hope for the best.
16:46
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yep.
16:47
SPEAKER_03: And so she says that they should get some guns.
16:50
SPEAKER_00: I feel like everywhere we go, Lisa, we're having conversation on weapons and guns and stuff.
16:56
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that is very true.
17:00
SPEAKER_01: Whether it's lost or something totally completely different, it's it comes up.
17:05
SPEAKER_03: Or useless people that we know.
17:09
SPEAKER_03: Crazy, crazy people that you know.
17:11
SPEAKER_00: I know a lot of them, unfortunately.
17:14
SPEAKER_03: Okay, yeah.
17:15
SPEAKER_00: I feel like I'm in the midst of a zombie, my own little zombie apocalypse right now.
17:21
SPEAKER_03: To the point where you either had to arm up or have your locks changed, and you had your locks changed, and uh because I was already armed up, because yes, secondary precaution, right?
17:34
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's a whole crazy private story.
17:37
SPEAKER_03: Sorry, people.
17:38
SPEAKER_00: Not enough alcohol in the world, and how I'm not and how I don't have any addiction issues right now is beyond me.
17:47
SPEAKER_03: If anybody deserves addiction issues right now, it is you.
17:52
SPEAKER_01: So I feel like this is a taboo taboo topic.
17:56
SPEAKER_01: You deserve an addiction, you've earned that.
18:00
SPEAKER_03: Last episode you wanted a three-day hold, and this episode you want an addiction.
18:07
SPEAKER_01: I think I'm calling out my help, I don't even realize it.
18:13
SPEAKER_03: Oh my goodness.
18:14
SPEAKER_03: Please send help.
18:16
SPEAKER_03: Right?
18:17
SPEAKER_01: Blink twice if you need help.
18:19
SPEAKER_03: Maybe please, like, you know, donate to our uh buy me a coffee so Agnes can just buy herself a big old bottle of tequila because I think she needs it right now.
18:30
SPEAKER_00: You know, I've I've gotten like I as you know, Patron Silver is oh, that's my go-to.
18:36
SPEAKER_00: I can it'll never do me wrong, but I've fallen in love with Cost Amigos, and not be it is good, not because of the the owner, the people, the labels, whatever.
18:48
SPEAKER_00: It's actually pretty damn good because I can't tolerate a lot of tequila.
18:51
SPEAKER_00: My stomach, my body, if I smell most tequila, I get drunk just smelling it and have the hangover all at the same time.
18:58
SPEAKER_00: But this is not I'm hearing that you're a cheap date.
19:02
SPEAKER_00: I really am.
19:03
SPEAKER_00: Tacos and tequila.
19:05
SPEAKER_00: I'm good.
19:06
SPEAKER_00: You can take me to a fucking taco truck.
19:08
SPEAKER_03: I'm good in the nearby dairy bar.
19:11
SPEAKER_03: I want to try the Casemigo uh reposado.
19:16
SPEAKER_03: I haven't tried that one.
19:17
SPEAKER_03: I want to try that one.
19:19
SPEAKER_00: I feel like we the last time I went to the store to buy that, and I think they were out, so we ended up getting silver, but that night was the night my mother passed.
19:37
SPEAKER_00: Oh shit, right, because we're we had just left the hospital and we were going, everyone's gonna come back to my house, and we're just gonna get drunk.
19:45
SPEAKER_00: And before we could, I came home.
19:47
SPEAKER_00: We all got in the house.
19:48
SPEAKER_00: I peed, and yeah, so I had a chance to pee at least.
19:51
SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, at least right, but so yeah, I think I still need you, mom.
19:57
SPEAKER_00: You owe me that.
19:58
SPEAKER_00: I need to try that.
19:59
SPEAKER_00: Um make it readily available, okay?
20:02
SPEAKER_00: Okay, thanks.
20:04
SPEAKER_00: Good looking out.
20:04
SPEAKER_00: Um back to Waltz being oh, speaking of Waltz.
20:11
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes, boom.
20:12
SPEAKER_00: I haven't seen Vincent in a hot minute, and then boom, he's here, and they don't talk.
20:17
SPEAKER_00: You know what this was?
20:18
SPEAKER_00: This is like the reverse Winslow sister.
20:21
SPEAKER_00: You know how family oh right the sister goes upstairs season one, season two, and then this never comes back down.
20:28
SPEAKER_00: They don't even talk about her.
20:30
SPEAKER_00: This is the reverse version of the Winslow sister.
20:33
SPEAKER_00: Here comes Vincent, and he was just I I don't know, but I also forget that this is a matter of days and weeks at most.
20:43
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
20:45
SPEAKER_00: And we're watching this over a course of a year and a half, like two seasons, a year, a season and a half.
20:52
SPEAKER_00: So I was just like, didn't they used to say what day we were at or they were at?
20:57
SPEAKER_03: I did, but I have no idea what day were.
20:59
SPEAKER_03: I was just thinking the same thing though when when I was watching this episode, because I'm like, what the fuck day is it now?
21:06
SPEAKER_00: I really think they need I don't I they need to start telling me again, or we need to start looking it up so I can have some kind of sense of yeah, I feel lost, pun intended.
21:16
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
21:17
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
21:19
SPEAKER_03: Not a bad today.
21:20
SPEAKER_03: I was I was reading something in connection with the show.
21:24
SPEAKER_03: I happened to come across an article, and they they said something, and I made a connection, an overall connection, that I had never made before, and I was like, how the hell did I not ever realize like this kind of double entendre?
21:40
SPEAKER_03: But I can't quite tell you yet, but I'm gonna write it down so that I could put it on the list so we can come back to it.
21:50
SPEAKER_00: Yes, and I think as a welcome home gift, i.e.
21:54
SPEAKER_00: back to the park, I think you need to give me a glimpse of your past thoughts of my wild and crazy theories.
22:04
SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I think as uh as we sign off today before we sign off today's episode, oh um, I think that's what we should do as a welcome home gift to me.
22:14
SPEAKER_00: Oh I'll think about it.
22:16
SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
22:17
SPEAKER_03: I'll see what's going on.
22:19
SPEAKER_03: I'll see, I'll see if there's anything I can give you.
22:23
SPEAKER_03: Naomi's phone.
22:25
SPEAKER_03: That Jack has that he gave to Daniel starts picking up Miles' location.
22:31
SPEAKER_03: So Daniel, Jack, and Kate head towards the signal.
22:35
SPEAKER_03: They find a metal box.
22:37
SPEAKER_03: Kate asks if it's from the chopper.
22:40
SPEAKER_03: Daniel stutters about them dropping it.
22:43
SPEAKER_03: Sorry.
22:44
SPEAKER_03: Daniel stutters about them dropping it to reduce weight.
22:48
SPEAKER_03: Jack finds gas masks and red bags with biohazard symbols in the box.
22:53
SPEAKER_03: He asks Daniel what the masks are for.
22:56
SPEAKER_03: Daniel looks nervously around and says he wasn't in he wasn't the one in charge of packing.
23:05
SPEAKER_03: Jack confronts him on why he has a gun, and Daniel reveals that saving them is not their primary objective.
23:13
SPEAKER_03: So now it's already leaning more towards like, oh shit, is everything that Ben was saying and Locke was saying right?
23:22
SPEAKER_00: At this point, I think with Locke, as far as his perception of it, I don't think it's as dire other than the fact he don't want to leave.
23:32
SPEAKER_00: I mean, and honestly, I don't think I would if I was him either.
23:36
SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah.
23:39
SPEAKER_00: I jumped off my train of thought.
23:41
SPEAKER_00: I just went chhoop tumbling off my train of thought.
23:45
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'll come back to it.
23:47
unknown: Okay.
23:48
SPEAKER_03: They find Miles apparently unconscious on a rocky outcrop by the shore.
23:54
SPEAKER_03: Jack approaches and removes Miles' helmet in order to examine him.
23:58
SPEAKER_03: Miles reacts and pulls a gun on Jack.
24:00
SPEAKER_02: He's like, easy there, handsome.
24:05
SPEAKER_03: Daniel trials tries to calm Miles down, but Miles will have none of it.
24:10
SPEAKER_03: He asks Kate where is the woman she killed?
24:14
SPEAKER_03: And Miles then informs them that when Naomi asking after her sister, it was a distress code to indicate that she was under duress.
24:23
SPEAKER_03: Kate informs Miles that Naomi was killed but by Locke, a rogue member.
24:28
SPEAKER_03: And Miles insists that they take him to the body, asserting that he'll know whether they're telling the truth or not.
24:34
SPEAKER_03: So now we get Miles' flashback.
24:37
SPEAKER_03: We see him in Inglewood, California.
24:40
SPEAKER_03: He's driving up to a house while listening to a radio report about flight 815.
24:45
SPEAKER_03: The reporter says that the plane is accounted for, a salvage mission is unlikely, and that authorities are confirming all 324 passengers are dead.
24:58
SPEAKER_03: He gets a briefcase out of his trunk and goes to the door.
25:01
SPEAKER_03: He introduces himself to Mrs.
25:02
SPEAKER_03: Gardner as Miles Strom and she invites him in.
25:07
SPEAKER_03: Side note: I don't remember where I heard this, but I heard this like back when you know the show was on.
25:14
SPEAKER_03: His name was Miles Strom because they wanted it to sound like Maelstrom.
25:22
SPEAKER_03: I don't know if I'm pronouncing the word right, but yeah.
25:27
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
25:28
SPEAKER_03: Like bad, you know?
25:30
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
25:30
SPEAKER_00: Um, it's funny you say that because when I thought about I'm like, oh, he's a scammy Ghostbuster.
25:35
SPEAKER_00: Got it.
25:37
SPEAKER_00: Got it.
25:38
SPEAKER_03: He asks, which room is it?
25:40
SPEAKER_03: And she points upstairs.
25:42
SPEAKER_03: He opens his briefcase and assembles a strange device from the contents.
25:46
SPEAKER_03: It looked like a cross between a vacuum cleaner and a bandsaw.
25:50
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
25:51
SPEAKER_00: I was like, wait, she lit this dude in her house?
25:54
SPEAKER_00: Like you must be very desperate and in pain to allow a dustbuster in your house.
26:01
SPEAKER_00: Like he's a dust, he's a he's a dustbusting scammy ghostbuster.
26:07
SPEAKER_00: Because it's like a dustbuster.
26:08
SPEAKER_03: I know.
26:09
SPEAKER_03: A dustbuster and a ghostbuster.
26:11
SPEAKER_00: He's a dustbusty, scammy.
26:12
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's a hat fucking mess.
26:15
SPEAKER_00: Special place in hell for those kind of people.
26:17
SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
26:18
SPEAKER_03: And he tells her no matter what you hear, don't come upstairs.
26:21
SPEAKER_03: Then he says that he's charging her 200 instead of 100 because he found out that her grandson was murdered from a friend in the police.
26:30
SPEAKER_03: But she agrees.
26:31
SPEAKER_03: He goes upstairs to the grandson's room, sets up the machine, and turns it on.
26:36
SPEAKER_03: He sits on the bed and he begins to speak to the empty room.
26:39
SPEAKER_03: He says that he isn't doing his grandma any good by staying, and that he's causing her pain.
26:44
SPEAKER_03: Miles adds that he wants to tell Mrs.
26:47
SPEAKER_03: Gardner that the occupant has left, but he can only tell her he has left when he tells where it is.
26:56
SPEAKER_03: Just then a noise attracts his attention to the bookcase.
27:00
SPEAKER_03: He moves it to discover a bundle of cash and a small yellow bag of powder concealed in an air vent.
27:06
SPEAKER_03: He pockets the cash, puts the powder back, and then tells the listener, You can go now.
27:12
SPEAKER_03: Miles tells Mrs.
27:13
SPEAKER_03: Gardiner it worked and that he's at peace now.
27:17
SPEAKER_03: He refunds her back half of his fee, saying that it wasn't as tricky as I thought, and then he leaves.
27:25
SPEAKER_03: Do you think that Miles is full of shit?
27:27
SPEAKER_00: Agnes watching Lost, I think he's a scam.
27:30
SPEAKER_00: I don't know if he's full of shit.
27:32
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
27:32
SPEAKER_00: He knowing Lost, he's probably a scammy douchebag that has some kind of sense of observation.
27:43
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
27:44
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
27:45
SPEAKER_00: Either way, he's still a scummy, scammy douchebag.
27:54
SPEAKER_03: Later we see that Ben tells Alex that he needs to talk to her.
27:58
SPEAKER_03: Carl hears hears this and stands in his way.
28:02
SPEAKER_03: Ben is like, now Carl, if you're gonna sleep with my daughter, like ew?
28:07
SPEAKER_03: Ew?
28:08
SPEAKER_00: I know.
28:14
SPEAKER_03: Sawyer takes Carl away from Ben, saying that he's just trying to play with his mind.
28:18
SPEAKER_03: Like he's trying to fuck with you because this is what he does.
28:21
SPEAKER_00: He's good at it though.
28:23
SPEAKER_03: You gotta give him that.
28:24
SPEAKER_03: He is the best at it.
28:26
SPEAKER_03: Ben asks Sawyer why he didn't go with Kate in Jack's group.
28:30
SPEAKER_03: Sawyer remains cool, doesn't oblige, but then Ben goes on to tell him how he wouldn't stand the chance with Kate if she were to get back home because off the island, he is nothing, nothing in comparison to Jack.
28:44
SPEAKER_03: Sawyer gets upset and shocker, Ben gets beat again.
28:50
SPEAKER_03: He is like the most beaten-up man on television.
28:53
SPEAKER_03: I think.
28:53
SPEAKER_00: I mean, he's a is obviously a masochist at some level.
28:58
SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying, I get trying to okay, I understand the whole like poking the bear to get a reaction so they can not be on their game.
29:08
SPEAKER_00: I get that, but at the same time, he gets some pleasure.
29:11
SPEAKER_00: I get his ass beat, I think.
29:12
SPEAKER_00: A little masochism in there.
29:14
SPEAKER_00: Like there's only so much you can take without I don't know.
29:17
SPEAKER_00: Like he he will allow himself to get beat by everybody in that group, and only so much of it is means to an end.
29:25
SPEAKER_00: Part of it is you that's your kink, dude.
29:27
SPEAKER_00: That's okay.
29:28
SPEAKER_00: And we all have our kinks, admit to it, it's cool.
29:32
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so Sawyer says that they should kill him, and Locke explains that they need Ben alive because he has information about the island.
29:42
SPEAKER_03: Sawyer reminds him that Ben is dangerous and leaves Ben with Loc to lead along.
29:48
SPEAKER_03: On the other side, when they take Miles to Naomi's body, he talks quietly over her.
29:55
SPEAKER_03: At the same time, Daniel is commenting on the way that the light scatters.
30:00
SPEAKER_03: Miles informs Faraday that Jack and Kate are telling the truth, and just then they receive a signal from Charlotte's GPS.
30:08
SPEAKER_03: Miles orders everyone to follow him.
30:12
SPEAKER_03: Jack winks at Kate and insists that Miles and Faraday put away their guns.
30:17
SPEAKER_03: When Miles resists, Jack says that his own people are waiting in the jungle with rifles trained at their heads.
30:23
SPEAKER_03: Miles says he shouldn't be taken for an idiot, but then two shots ring out as Juliet and Said come into the clearing, pointing guns at Faraday and Miles.
30:34
SPEAKER_03: Jack collects their guns and they head off to find Charlotte.
30:37
SPEAKER_03: Now we have another flashback, and this time it's Charlotte.
30:42
SPEAKER_03: We are in Medanin, Tunisia.
30:46
SPEAKER_03: We see a redheaded woman pick up a French newspaper that says that Flight eight fifteen has been recovered.
30:53
SPEAKER_03: Her friend asks how many different languages are you gonna read it in before you believe it?
30:58
SPEAKER_03: And she quips, How many different languages are there?
31:02
SPEAKER_03: They bribe a man to gain access into an excavation site in the middle of the desert where they find the bones of a polar bear.
31:11
SPEAKER_03: Her associate wonders if it's some kind of dinosaur, but Charlotte says that the bones are a few million years newer than that.
31:20
SPEAKER_03: Her associate then questions its authenticity, claiming that it must be a hoax.
31:25
SPEAKER_03: Charlotte, instead of studying the polar bear, goes digging around it and quickly finds a collar that has the hydra sign on it, associating the dead bear with the Dharma initiative.
31:36
SPEAKER_03: She smiles looking at it.
31:38
SPEAKER_03: So not only do we have polar bears on the island, but we've got polar bears, Dharma polar bears, bones of Dharma polar bears being found in a desert desert in Tunisia.
31:53
SPEAKER_03: Make it make sense.
32:17
SPEAKER_00: Polar bear in the desert.
32:20
SPEAKER_00: Fossils, I mean this point, because I feel like I've said this a numerous and sundries of times.
32:30
SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, this spine, the space-time continuum is a different parallel in a parallel in a parallel parallelogram.
32:42
SPEAKER_03: Not in a parallelogram, it's geometry in a parallel universe.
32:48
SPEAKER_00: Um that isn't the desert, that is the Arctic, because the Earth is tilted on a different axis, and so thus okay.
32:57
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
32:58
SPEAKER_00: That's the best I can get.
32:59
SPEAKER_00: I don't care.
33:03
SPEAKER_03: Back on the island, Charlotte wakes up hanging upside down in her parachute harness.
33:09
SPEAKER_03: The shoot is caught in a tree overhanging a small river.
33:12
SPEAKER_03: She frees herself and plunges into the water.
33:15
SPEAKER_03: She looks around and seems ecstatic to be on the island.
33:19
SPEAKER_03: Locke and his group arrive at the same place, and then Charlotte is like amazed to find the survivors alive.
33:28
SPEAKER_03: She's asking a lot of questions about them and they exhibit various levels of trepidation and hostility.
33:36
SPEAKER_03: She explains that she has a transponder and the rest of her team will find them soon.
33:44
SPEAKER_03: Jack and the others are searching for Charlotte, and Saeed questions Miles about why the four of them are there.
33:51
SPEAKER_03: Said takes Miles' sat phone and tries to use it to call the freighter, but instead he sees Charlotte's signal.
33:58
SPEAKER_03: It's moving quickly towards them.
34:01
SPEAKER_03: The group runs towards the signal and sees something moving towards them in the bushes.
34:06
SPEAKER_03: It's Vincent.
34:07
SPEAKER_03: Vincent's back.
34:08
SPEAKER_03: And he emerges with Charlotte's GPS tied around his neck.
34:12
SPEAKER_03: And Jack says that Locke has Charlotte.
34:15
SPEAKER_03: We cut to Frank back off the island in and I'm sorry, I don't know how to pronounce this, but Iluthera Bahamas.
34:26
SPEAKER_03: Frank is watching the television coverage of the discovery of Flight 815, which shows the bodies in the undersea wreckage.
34:34
SPEAKER_03: One body is identified as Seth Norris, the pilot of the flight.
34:39
SPEAKER_03: And this is, you know, supposedly Seth Norris, who we saw get eaten by the smoke monster in the pilot episode.
34:46
SPEAKER_00: And it wasn't the same guy.
34:48
SPEAKER_00: I mean, even looking at the page, I'm like, okay.
34:52
SPEAKER_03: Frank calls the oceanic hotline and he demands to speak to a supervisor.
34:57
SPEAKER_03: He says that the man shown cannot be Seth because Seth always wore his wedding ring, and the corpse had no ring.
35:04
SPEAKER_03: When the man on the other end argues with him, Frank insists that he knew Seth well and that the body was not his.
35:11
SPEAKER_03: He reveals that he was originally supposed to be the pilot of Flight A15.
35:16
SPEAKER_03: Frank, I'm gonna tell you this.
35:18
SPEAKER_03: I love this character.
35:35
SPEAKER_00: I feel like oh um, I feel like I'm wrapped in a nice warm blanket.
35:42
SPEAKER_00: Um, whatever look I know.
35:45
SPEAKER_03: Like he's just one of those kind of grumpy-ish straight shooter types.
35:54
SPEAKER_03: Like you know, they just they just exist and and they're cool with it.
36:00
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
36:02
SPEAKER_00: Like I said, it brings me comfort and joy.
36:05
SPEAKER_00: Because I feel like in their presence, you don't have to wander, wonder about anything.
36:12
SPEAKER_00: Like you don't have to wonder where you stand with them, you don't have to wonder what they're thinking, because either they're gonna tell you or they just don't ain't important enough.
36:20
SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's just it's comforting to have that sense of clarity with people.
36:26
SPEAKER_00: Right.
36:26
SPEAKER_00: That you so yeah, give me like a six, give me six of those any day.
36:30
SPEAKER_00: I'm good.
36:32
SPEAKER_03: Back on the island, he pulls himself out of some bushes, he climbs over the lip of a hill, and he sees a cow.
36:40
SPEAKER_03: He tries to stand up, but his legs fail him.
36:42
SPEAKER_03: When he pulls out his sat phone, he discovers that it's broken.
36:46
SPEAKER_03: So he takes a flare gun and fires.
36:50
SPEAKER_03: Charlotte sees the flare and declares her intention to go towards it.
36:55
SPEAKER_03: Locke tells her that he doesn't want her to do that, but Charlotte insists.
36:59
SPEAKER_03: She's like, I don't need your permission.
37:03
SPEAKER_03: Um Clara is saying that the person who shot the flare might be hurt, and Locke reminds the group that Charlotte and her team didn't come to the island to rescue them.
37:13
SPEAKER_03: While they argue, Ben takes Carl's gun and shoots Charlotte twice in the chest.
37:19
SPEAKER_03: She goes down.
37:21
SPEAKER_03: Sawyer fucks up Ben and Locke goes to check on Charlotte, but she's still alive.
37:27
SPEAKER_03: She's actually wearing a bulletproof vest under her jacket.
37:32
SPEAKER_00: For some reason, I had a feeling that Ben knew that, or at least suspected it.
37:37
SPEAKER_00: Either way, he would have been happy with either A, I told you so, or B, she's dead.
37:42
SPEAKER_00: So either way, she he would have been like, Okay, I'm good with the outcome.
37:47
SPEAKER_03: Jack revives Frank, and Daniel and Miles try to get his attention, but he seems dazed.
37:52
SPEAKER_03: He's like, I saw a cow.
37:55
SPEAKER_03: That would be my response, too.
37:57
SPEAKER_03: Like, there's a cow.
37:58
SPEAKER_00: Right.
38:00
SPEAKER_00: Because even I'm like, huh?
38:02
SPEAKER_00: Like, I know what's happening.
38:03
SPEAKER_00: I've seen the weird shit.
38:04
SPEAKER_00: I said, like, a fucking cow.
38:06
SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't know.
38:07
SPEAKER_00: I think they could have been like more weirder.
38:10
SPEAKER_00: They could have something weirder and not as disconcerting than a cow.
38:14
SPEAKER_00: I think the fact that it's so normal, and you're like, Yeah, yeah.
38:18
SPEAKER_03: They ask where the helicopter crashed, and Frank is like, What kind of pilot do you think I am?
38:24
SPEAKER_00: I put her down.
38:26
SPEAKER_00: He was highly, highly offended.
38:29
SPEAKER_00: Like they heard from Miles and Daniel that you know, electrical storm, they're about they had to jump out.
38:36
SPEAKER_00: So of course you're expecting the worst.
38:39
SPEAKER_03: Right.
38:39
SPEAKER_03: He said, The fuck, dude.
38:41
SPEAKER_03: All of a sudden he's out of his days and he's like, The fuck?
38:43
SPEAKER_03: What do you think of me?
38:44
SPEAKER_03: I'm a fucking pilot.
38:46
SPEAKER_03: Put that bitch down.
38:48
SPEAKER_01: I was like, Yeah, I like that.
38:50
SPEAKER_03: He says that the helicopter was struck by lightning, but he landed it in a clearing.
38:55
SPEAKER_03: They find the helicopter intact, set down nicely.
39:00
SPEAKER_00: And she was all pretty.
39:02
SPEAKER_00: I feel looking at it like they don't, I don't think they've seen anything on the island set up like that.
39:07
SPEAKER_03: It was like the angels came down from heaven and were singing in that moment.
39:12
SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
39:14
SPEAKER_03: Said inspects the helicopter and informs Jack that there's no serious damage.
39:19
SPEAKER_03: Jack asks Miles why they are really here, and Miles agrees to tell him if Jack gives him the phone.
39:27
SPEAKER_03: Miles tries to call Minkowski, but is informed by a woman that he's not able to answer the phone at this time.
39:34
SPEAKER_03: As Dan and Kate carry Naomi's body to the helicopter, Miles stops them saying, That's not Naomi, it's just meat.
39:42
SPEAKER_03: Frank promises Dan that he'll take Naomi's body on the next flight because the helicopter is low on fuel and should not carry any unnecessary weight.
39:50
SPEAKER_03: Meanwhile, Juliet is treating Frank's head wound.
39:54
SPEAKER_03: When he asks her name and she tells him, he realizes that she wasn't on the plane.
40:00
SPEAKER_03: He has the flight manifest memorized.
40:02
SPEAKER_03: He calls Miles and tells him that well, he calls Miles over, not that he calls him.
40:08
SPEAKER_03: Um and he tells him that Juliet wasn't on the plane and calls her native.
40:12
SPEAKER_03: Miles becomes aggressive and asks Juliet where he is.
40:16
SPEAKER_03: When Jack steps between them, Miles pulls out a picture of Ben standing by a woman near a computer stating they have come to the island to find him.
40:26
SPEAKER_03: This picture of Ben, Ben is like a full-grown adult standing by a computer.
40:32
SPEAKER_03: Now, obviously, we know that they have like technology on the island and whatnot.
40:37
SPEAKER_00: But it looks like it's not on the island.
40:40
SPEAKER_03: But it begs the question, where the fuck was this picture taken and who took it?
40:44
SPEAKER_00: Right, even if it I mean, someone well, you know, the guy, the original guy of the original leader of the others who recruited Juliet to the island.
40:58
SPEAKER_00: Like he actually got off the island because he brought her for the mainland.
41:03
SPEAKER_00: Um, so the possibility of going back and forth between the island and the mainland is like is there's freedom there.
41:10
SPEAKER_00: Not the possibility, but it's freedom there at some level.
41:14
SPEAKER_00: So someone from I I mean, the most logical answer is someone from the island, someone from the others group, let's just say for lack of a better term, gave people off the island.
41:26
SPEAKER_00: Well, obviously the Dharma initiative was being the whole everything was being monitored by somebody.
41:33
SPEAKER_00: The original experiment that the people that um Ben ended up killing off, like they were monitored by somebody.
41:43
SPEAKER_00: So someone off island knows it's there.
41:45
SPEAKER_00: So there's that going on.
41:47
SPEAKER_02: Um why Ben?
41:50
SPEAKER_00: Because well, one he kind of killed everybody and then kind of like became de facto the figure head because you I still think the other guy was kind of like pulling the strings.
42:00
SPEAKER_00: So obviously, thank you.
42:02
SPEAKER_00: Good looking guy.
42:03
SPEAKER_03: Um, oh yes, he very much so is.
42:06
SPEAKER_00: I'm thinking I'm trying to play it cool.
42:09
SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't know.
42:10
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
42:11
SPEAKER_00: They're mad at him for killing people or they're mad at him for not listening to them.
42:16
SPEAKER_00: I think like they had plans.
42:17
SPEAKER_00: They're like, fine, we'll let you stay, but we have plans.
42:20
SPEAKER_00: This is what we're doing, and he's like, fuck no.
42:23
SPEAKER_00: And now they're like, fuck yeah, we're gonna hunt you down.
42:26
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
42:28
SPEAKER_00: I hear a lot of fucks happening in that conversation.
42:30
SPEAKER_00: Fucking A.
42:32
SPEAKER_00: Um okay.
42:34
SPEAKER_00: I have a question completely random.
42:37
SPEAKER_00: Is it just me or is Mr.
42:39
SPEAKER_00: Terry, aka Locke, is he looking I don't want to say younger, younger, but he's looking a little younger and scruffier than he did, less haggard and more rugged than he did, like before he just looked like a regular old man that can walk again and which kind of like badassy.
42:58
SPEAKER_00: Now I feel like his, I don't know.
43:00
SPEAKER_00: I don't know if it could be.
43:01
SPEAKER_00: I didn't really character got work done.
43:04
SPEAKER_00: I don't know if the character like the actor got a little relaxation because the writer's strike, he's like, Oh, I'm going on vacation.
43:11
SPEAKER_00: He just, you know, he looks more like real rested.
43:15
SPEAKER_00: Or if because you know, when the character changes, the face changes, if that makes sense.
43:21
SPEAKER_00: So I was like, hmm.
43:23
SPEAKER_00: Or maybe I'm just lonely and I'm like, oh, come here.
43:26
SPEAKER_00: I don't know, but I don't know what's right.
43:27
SPEAKER_00: It might be just me, and I got my hormones are raging.
43:30
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
43:32
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't know.
43:33
SPEAKER_03: I I didn't notice that, but I will definitely look out for that next time.
43:37
SPEAKER_00: Please do, and I don't feel I don't feel so crazy.
43:41
SPEAKER_03: We're gonna jump into Naomi's flashback.
43:44
SPEAKER_03: We see Naomi in a bare, large office space speaking with Matthew Abaddon regarding her mission.
43:53
SPEAKER_03: She emphasizes the level of danger in the island operation.
43:58
SPEAKER_03: She thinks that Abaddon has chosen the wrong people for this mission as they lack military or field experience.
44:05
SPEAKER_03: She said it would be a disaster without protection.
44:08
SPEAKER_03: And he tells her you are their protection.
44:11
SPEAKER_03: She says that it's a high risk, covert operation in unstable territory, especially with four untrained operatives.
44:20
SPEAKER_03: She then describes the team one by one, calling Daniel a headcase mild.
44:25
SPEAKER_03: Charlotte's a Ghostbuster, Charlotte an anthropologist, and Frank a drunk.
44:32
SPEAKER_03: Abaddon says that to be fair, Frank is a competent pilot and that all of the team members were chosen for specific reasons.
44:41
SPEAKER_03: Naomi questions what to do if she finds survivors of Flight A15, but Abaddon is adamant that there were no survivors.
44:50
SPEAKER_03: Why would Naomi assume that she was going to encounter survivors of Flight A15, especially when we've seen the footage that they're all dead, or was this taking place before the flight the footage was found?
45:07
SPEAKER_03: The other thing is that this could also be why Abaddon was so adamant in the flash forwards about if there were more survivors.
45:18
SPEAKER_03: So there's something else there that we don't know quite yet.
45:21
SPEAKER_00: I feel like this is before, because when she was first landed on the island, wasn't she surprised that there were survivors?
45:32
SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
45:33
SPEAKER_03: So this right, she knew, and she said that uh-uh, they found the plane.
45:38
SPEAKER_03: You guys, like you guys are dead.
45:41
SPEAKER_03: So by the time she got to the island, she knew that they were dead.
45:45
SPEAKER_00: But my point is this particular flash for this particular flash was before that, I think.
45:50
SPEAKER_00: Right, these are flashbacks.
45:52
SPEAKER_00: So this is a flashback forward.
45:56
SPEAKER_00: What I don't know.
46:00
SPEAKER_00: It's a flash, right?
46:01
SPEAKER_00: So the new people, I myself can come out Miami as a new person, are having flashbacks to explain how they came.
46:10
SPEAKER_00: Yes, and everyone else on the on the island is having flash forwards when they do come.
46:16
SPEAKER_00: I can't.
46:17
SPEAKER_00: I I can't because it's all confusing until I like say it out loud.
46:23
SPEAKER_00: I feel and as I'm watching the episode, I'm following it, I'm getting it, but I'm like, something's off, but I don't know what's off, but I'm that one was off.
46:32
SPEAKER_00: We went back to flashbacks.
46:34
SPEAKER_03: Yes.
46:35
SPEAKER_00: Go on your I can't.
46:37
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
46:38
SPEAKER_03: All right.
46:39
SPEAKER_03: Meanwhile, Locke takes Sawyer's gun, intending to kill Ben, despite the protests of Alex and Claire.
46:46
SPEAKER_03: Ben pleads for his life.
46:48
SPEAKER_03: He says that he has information that Locke needs.
46:51
SPEAKER_03: So Locke demands to know what the monster is.
46:54
SPEAKER_03: Ben says that he doesn't know, but he does know Charlotte's full name, family, and educational information.
47:03
SPEAKER_03: He also names the other members of her team and states that they were sent to the island in search of him.
47:10
SPEAKER_03: When Locke asks how he knows all this, Ben says he has a man on their boat.
47:16
SPEAKER_00: Dun dun dun.
47:18
SPEAKER_03: So we see that Ben has accurate information because Charlotte is like, what the fuck?
47:26
SPEAKER_00: What the fuck?
47:27
SPEAKER_03: And he says that he has a man on their boat, so any guesses if this is somebody you know or who it could be?
47:35
SPEAKER_00: I didn't even try guessing.
47:36
SPEAKER_00: No, you get no guesses out of me.
47:38
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
47:39
SPEAKER_00: That's fine.
47:40
SPEAKER_03: Even though I think you should guess, I think you should give it at least one guess because then if and when we do find out, you'll know like if you were on the right track.
47:50
SPEAKER_00: Okay, it's Penny.
47:51
SPEAKER_00: I don't fucking know.
47:52
SPEAKER_00: I'm just guessing.
47:53
SPEAKER_03: It's just I'm gonna write that down.
47:55
SPEAKER_00: Oh, she's actually writing it down, people.
47:57
SPEAKER_03: I am writing it down.
47:59
SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna tell you something.
48:02
SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
48:04
SPEAKER_03: It's actually not a bad guess.
48:06
SPEAKER_03: Oh, you don't know why yet, but it's actually not a bad guess.
48:09
SPEAKER_00: It's Penny's father.
48:11
SPEAKER_00: No, okay.
48:12
SPEAKER_00: Um, so totally random.
48:14
SPEAKER_03: Oh, wait, that was another guess.
48:15
SPEAKER_03: Hold on.
48:16
SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
48:19
SPEAKER_03: Penny.
48:20
SPEAKER_00: So only on this podcast, people are random ramblings considered legitimate like conversation thinking points.
48:29
SPEAKER_00: Welcome to our world.
48:31
SPEAKER_03: And look your crazy theories.
48:33
SPEAKER_03: That's all.
48:34
SPEAKER_00: So here's another one.
48:36
SPEAKER_00: It's not really, it's not a real one, it's a silly one.
48:38
SPEAKER_00: Don't write it down.
48:39
SPEAKER_00: It don't count.
48:41
SPEAKER_00: Daniel Faraday.
48:42
SPEAKER_00: Because obviously, because like, all right, he's weird doctor kind of sh whatever.
48:48
SPEAKER_00: He's a descendant of Michael Faraday of the Faraday cage thing.
48:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
48:55
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
48:56
SPEAKER_03: You remember that a long time ago, I told you that nothing is really by accident.
49:04
SPEAKER_00: Faraday.
49:05
SPEAKER_00: They actually named the character Faraday for a reason.
49:08
SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna we're gonna get into that, but that right there, after Ben puts all of Charlotte's information on blast, that's where the episode ends.
49:20
SPEAKER_03: Right.
49:20
SPEAKER_00: Pure evil.
49:22
SPEAKER_00: And it made me want to go next, but not care.
49:25
SPEAKER_03: I gotta wait.
49:26
SPEAKER_03: Not yet, not yet.
49:27
SPEAKER_03: You can you could do it now though, but right.
49:30
SPEAKER_00: You know how confusing it is when I watch more than one episode without recording.
49:33
SPEAKER_03: I'm like, Yeah, no, totally.
49:36
SPEAKER_03: Let's do some trivia.
49:39
SPEAKER_03: This is the third episode to have flashbacks centering around guest stars, and the first episode to feature flashbacks of characters that are main characters and guest star characters.
49:55
SPEAKER_03: It also features the first flashback from a dead character's perspective.
50:04
SPEAKER_03: Okay, okay.
50:07
SPEAKER_03: Ben's recitation of Charlotte's birth date as July 2nd, 1979.
50:13
SPEAKER_03: Ooh, 1979.
50:14
SPEAKER_00: I thought I actually noticed excited about that one.
50:18
SPEAKER_03: It actually was an error.
50:20
SPEAKER_03: According to the producers, they've implied that Charlotte's birth date should have been 1971.
50:27
SPEAKER_00: So she would have been a little bit too young to be such an accomplished um anthropologist, I think.
50:34
SPEAKER_00: Right.
50:35
SPEAKER_00: But I I yeah, that did cross my mind too.
50:38
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but you know, she's a g she was a genius.
50:42
SPEAKER_00: I mean, yeah.
50:43
SPEAKER_00: 79s make some good kids, I'm just saying.
50:46
SPEAKER_00: I I couldn't go.
50:48
SPEAKER_01: It was a good vintage.
50:49
SPEAKER_01: No arguments here.
50:50
SPEAKER_01: That's a good vintage and a good one.
50:51
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, wines.
50:53
unknown: I don't fucking know.
50:55
SPEAKER_03: While Miles kneels over Naomi's dead bodies, dead bodies.
51:00
SPEAKER_03: While Miles kneels over Naomi's dead body, whispers can be heard.
51:05
SPEAKER_03: When the audio on screen has been reversed, slowed down slightly and cleaned up, the phrase, you gotta see it through, can be heard.
51:15
SPEAKER_03: I don't know who the fuck figured this out, because I sure as hell didn't, but interesting.
51:22
SPEAKER_00: You gotta see I'll take their word for it, because I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna go, I'm not gonna play with, I'm not gonna play with the spirits, even of the fictional characters, not playing with them.
51:31
SPEAKER_00: Was that I wonder if that's the trivia from a person in the know, the like writer's cast, whatever, or someone just making up shit.
51:39
SPEAKER_03: I mean, I doubt they're making it up, but I mean, I don't know.
51:45
SPEAKER_00: They're like someone just fucking us to say, okay, let's see how many people actually go see if this is true or not.
51:51
SPEAKER_03: So this is, like I said, this is the first episode where at least one of the centric characters receiving a flashback are dead at the beginning of the episode.
52:00
SPEAKER_03: The producers previously had a rule that there would be no flashback episode for dead characters.
52:07
SPEAKER_03: Expose gives the audience the illusion that Nikki and Paolo are dead at the beginning, but they were only paralyzed at the time.
52:15
SPEAKER_03: And three other episodes will follow this rule breaker.
52:20
SPEAKER_03: I'm not telling you because they haven't come up yet.
52:25
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
52:25
SPEAKER_03: So there's a blooper.
52:27
SPEAKER_03: When Miles heads up the stairs to have the discussion with the ghosts, the pictures on the wall are in wooden frames.
52:34
SPEAKER_03: But when he comes back down, the frames have changed to brass and the pictures are different.
52:42
SPEAKER_00: But is it a blooper?
52:44
SPEAKER_00: Because the way they span back to it, I feel like it wasn't a blooper.
52:47
SPEAKER_00: I feel like it was intentional.
52:49
SPEAKER_03: No, it was a blooper because um people had debated, fans had debated if it was significant or an error, and it was confirmed to be a continuity error by the script coordinator.
53:03
SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah.
53:04
SPEAKER_00: I was like, so why the way they had him like looking at it for so long?
53:08
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, what's the problem?
53:11
SPEAKER_00: Fine.
53:12
SPEAKER_00: Just when we actually, I think just when we had like a legitimate, a legitimate, like, oh shit, what the hell's going on here?
53:18
SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, no, how bad.
53:20
SPEAKER_00: No, actually just kind of fucked up.
53:22
SPEAKER_00: But hey, enjoy enjoy the ride.
53:24
SPEAKER_00: So, how many things are we actually looking into in general?
53:27
SPEAKER_00: Not just us, but in general, like did I say at one point the the people, the producer show went over like, yeah, yeah, exactly what we had planned.
53:37
SPEAKER_00: Right.
53:37
SPEAKER_00: No, I don't know.
53:38
SPEAKER_00: Let's go with it.
53:39
SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
53:42
SPEAKER_03: Some references to the numbers.
53:44
SPEAKER_03: The room that Miles works in has a poster with the number 15.
53:49
SPEAKER_03: Two ticket stubs are pinned to the wall, and they also have the number 15.
53:54
SPEAKER_03: There were 324 passengers on flight 815, which is 108 times 3.
54:02
SPEAKER_03: You remember 108 refers to the minutes and the hatch?
54:06
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
54:07
SPEAKER_00: Yes, the hatch.
54:08
SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, the hatch.
54:09
SPEAKER_00: I feel like that was a lifetime ago.
54:11
SPEAKER_03: It was.
54:12
SPEAKER_00: And the team for like it's like three, four months at most on lost time.
54:17
SPEAKER_03: I know, I know.
54:18
SPEAKER_03: Not probably not even, but yeah.
54:20
SPEAKER_03: The team on the helicopter was four people, and the helicopter prefix is N842M.
54:32
SPEAKER_03: But like it's so funny because when when this episode first aired, I saw the numbers on the helicopter, and I swear to god, to this day, I still remembered them because it reminded me of like innate innate fortune.
54:51
SPEAKER_03: Like in 842M.
54:54
SPEAKER_03: So, like, aside from the M, it just reminded me of like innate fortune, and I'm like, well, how fortunate is it that they landed a helicopter on the island?
55:03
SPEAKER_00: It's innate.
55:04
unknown: Okay.
55:05
SPEAKER_03: I know.
55:05
SPEAKER_03: Like, I don't know if I don't know if honestly that has any kind of significance, but that's I always remember the numbers because it reminded me of those two words.
55:15
SPEAKER_00: Okay, that's kind of cool that I I don't think there's anything on TV that I remember like random like numbers like that.
55:23
SPEAKER_03: Nate, like yeah, I mean, I don't know.
55:27
SPEAKER_03: So it's revealed that the people from the freighter are not on a search and rescue mission, like Naomi had told them.
55:35
SPEAKER_03: We also learn about the previous connection between Naomi and Abaddon.
55:40
SPEAKER_03: Before the helicopter crashes, Charlotte complains that she can't find her vest, and Miles gives her his, basically saving her life because otherwise she probably would have died from Ben's gunshot.
55:54
SPEAKER_00: Right.
55:55
SPEAKER_03: So they say it was Penny's freighter.
55:58
SPEAKER_03: It was never mind, ignore me.
56:00
SPEAKER_03: Well, Desmond assumed it was Penny's freighter.
56:03
SPEAKER_00: No, but my guess my guess before was who's when I said that was Penny or Father.
56:08
SPEAKER_03: What was uh coming looking for the man on the boat looking for Ben?
56:16
SPEAKER_00: Oh, but then that's the same freighter that they thought that was Penny's anyway, so it can't be Penny's.
56:22
SPEAKER_00: Like the freighter they're coming from is the same one.
56:24
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
56:25
SPEAKER_00: So it can't be Penny.
56:26
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
56:27
SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, I'm just not connecting my seasons and stuff.
56:30
SPEAKER_03: That's fine.
56:31
SPEAKER_03: Sawyer is prevented from killing Ben by Locke, who comments about killing him in front of his daughter.
56:37
SPEAKER_03: And it seems to remind Sawyer of his childhood where he witnessed his parents' death.
56:42
SPEAKER_03: Because remember, his father killed his mother and then killed himself.
56:46
SPEAKER_00: Traumatic.
56:46
SPEAKER_00: I'm still shook.
56:47
SPEAKER_00: I'm still shaking up over that, and I just watched it.
56:50
SPEAKER_03: Dan is from Essex, Massachusetts, and Char Charlotte is from Essex, England.
56:56
SPEAKER_03: England.
56:58
SPEAKER_03: Locke explains that he survived being shot because he no longer has a kidney in the spot where he was shot.
57:03
SPEAKER_03: Basically alluding to that by his father stealing his kidney, he inadvertently saved his life, also.
57:11
SPEAKER_03: Some of the cultural references that the show brings up.
57:15
SPEAKER_03: Ben says that Charlotte's name is Charlotte Staples Lewis.
57:20
SPEAKER_03: And the name Charlotte Staples Lewis is a reference to Clive Staples Lewis, commonly referred to as C.S.
57:30
SPEAKER_03: Lewis, author of The Chronicles of Narnia.
57:35
SPEAKER_03: And I mean, fucking Narnia, lost.
57:38
SPEAKER_03: You can you know.
57:39
SPEAKER_03: There's a lot of literary references in the show.
57:42
SPEAKER_01: Yes, there really is.
57:45
SPEAKER_03: Faraday.
57:46
SPEAKER_03: Michael Faraday was an English chemist and physicist who contributed to the study of electromagnetism.
57:54
SPEAKER_03: He established that magnetism could affect rays of light and that there was an underlying relationship between the two phenomena.
58:04
SPEAKER_03: In this episode, Daniel comments on the abnormalities of the light rays on the island, and he also defines himself as a physicist.
58:13
SPEAKER_03: There's also a reference to Apocalypse Now.
58:16
SPEAKER_03: Sawyer calls Locke Colonel Kurtz after Marlon Brando's character in the 1979 movie.
58:24
SPEAKER_03: In the movie, although not in the original book, Colonel Kurtz is a great man who leads his followers out into the jungle where he subsequently goes insane.
58:36
SPEAKER_03: The reference is also to Locke's baldness, Brando was shaved bald in the film.
58:42
SPEAKER_03: Another reference is to Battle Royale.
58:45
SPEAKER_03: These words can be seen in the room in which Miles works.
58:49
SPEAKER_03: This could be a reference to the Japanese novel and movie by the same name, in which high school students are taken to an isolated island and forced to fight to the death as part of what is called the program.
59:03
SPEAKER_03: Essex.
59:04
SPEAKER_03: Daniel Faraday's flashback takes place in Essex, Massachusetts, and Ben reveals that Charlotte was born in Essex, England.
59:14
SPEAKER_03: Essex also refers to a famous whaling ship that was launched off the coast of Nantucket in 1819.
59:22
SPEAKER_03: The mission of the ship was to hunt sperm whales in the South Pacific.
59:26
SPEAKER_03: The ship sank, and the crew ended up on an uninhabited island in the Pitcairn chain, where they fed on birds, fruit, and vegetation, as well as water from a local freshwater spring, before resorting to cannibalism.
59:42
SPEAKER_03: The surviving members of the crew were rescued on day 93.
59:48
SPEAKER_00: I wonder where we are in Lost World.
59:50
SPEAKER_00: I know.
59:50
SPEAKER_00: I'm are we in 92, 91?
59:54
SPEAKER_00: It's a deserted island, right?
59:56
SPEAKER_00: I mean, unless the island was the size of and size of your house.
1:00:14
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right.
1:00:16
SPEAKER_03: The beginning of this episode is set on December 21st, 2004, or 91 days after the crash.
1:00:26
SPEAKER_00: Did I say 91?
1:00:27
SPEAKER_00: Aha.
1:00:28
SPEAKER_00: So 90.
1:00:29
SPEAKER_00: So two days later, they're gonna, I have a feeling they're gonna be two days later, they're gonna be rescued.
1:00:34
SPEAKER_00: Let's write at least six of them.
1:00:36
SPEAKER_00: I don't know how.
1:00:38
SPEAKER_03: Two days later, at least six of them rescued.
1:00:45
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
1:00:47
SPEAKER_03: All right.
1:00:49
SPEAKER_00: And then how is that explained?
1:00:52
SPEAKER_00: Everyone explained all bodies were accounted for, but six people came back.
1:00:57
SPEAKER_00: I feel like my head's spinning just thinking about it.
1:01:01
SPEAKER_03: I'm not gonna tell you how, but I will tell you that you will find out.
1:01:05
SPEAKER_00: Like before I commit myself somewhere and bang my head against a padded wall.
1:01:10
SPEAKER_03: That I don't know.
1:01:13
SPEAKER_03: I don't know the answer to that one.
1:01:15
SPEAKER_00: To be fair, I was on my way there before we even started this podcast.
1:01:20
SPEAKER_01: So I was just hanging right there anyway.
1:01:25
SPEAKER_03: So here's some foreshadowing.
1:01:29
SPEAKER_00: I have another before we get to because I'm gonna forget the woman that plays Charlotte, Rebecca Maylor.
1:01:37
SPEAKER_00: Rebecca, her and Emily, who plays Claire, thank you, end up on Once Upon a Time Together.
1:01:46
SPEAKER_03: Yes.
1:01:47
SPEAKER_03: So did Lana Perilla and Lana wait Lana?
1:01:51
SPEAKER_03: Yes, and Lana.
1:01:52
SPEAKER_03: She was in the looking glass.
1:01:53
SPEAKER_03: I mean, briefly, but yeah.
1:01:55
SPEAKER_00: Yes, I forgot about her.
1:01:56
SPEAKER_00: I forgot she was even in there.
1:01:58
SPEAKER_00: So yes.
1:01:58
SPEAKER_03: I was just thinking that the other day because when I went to put on Lost on Hulu to watch, you know, it tells you like other shows you may want to watch, and it came up.
1:02:09
SPEAKER_03: And I have like I haven't really watched the whole show, I've only seen a few episodes, but it made me think like, oh, I wonder if that would be like another really good show for the podcast because it has a lot of like weird connections and talking points.
1:02:24
SPEAKER_00: I've seen it.
1:02:25
SPEAKER_00: Okay, I followed it, I watched the spin-off that they had their one season spin-off with the Alice in Wonderland.
1:02:32
SPEAKER_00: They had a season, like, yeah.
1:02:33
SPEAKER_03: And there's even a lot of I mean, Alice in Wonderland for sure.
1:02:38
SPEAKER_03: There's a lot of references in Lost to Alice in Wonderland.
1:02:41
SPEAKER_00: I find that there's a lot of yes.
1:02:43
SPEAKER_00: So Lost, I would it has to be very similar.
1:02:46
SPEAKER_00: Show I mean the showrunners, the writers, somebody was like, Yeah, I believe that.
1:02:50
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, I'm pretty sure a lot of shows cross, I don't say cross-contaminate, but yeah, yeah, I feel like they just a little cross-ammies.
1:02:59
SPEAKER_00: Um, they cross-contaminate each other.
1:03:01
SPEAKER_00: I feel like there is, um, but yeah, I was like, Oh, I made a connection all by myself.
1:03:10
SPEAKER_03: All right, so here's a little nugget for later.
1:03:14
SPEAKER_03: When Faraday was asked what his name was, he takes a pause before he answers.
1:03:22
SPEAKER_00: He does that a lot, and I don't think, okay, so the thing with him, we all know it going into it that these people are not who they say they are, like they're not who they're led to think, you know what I mean.
1:03:35
SPEAKER_00: We know that.
1:03:37
SPEAKER_00: But when they hired or they recruited Faraday, it is obvious he's not one that knows how to lie or can't lie, or he wouldn't be able to make up a story off the top of his head based on whatever.
1:03:52
SPEAKER_00: So I feel like he wasn't either a told everything, like he was like, Okay, we just tell him the bare necessities because this motherfucker cannot lie to these people.
1:04:01
SPEAKER_00: It ain't gonna work.
1:04:03
SPEAKER_00: Um, we're telling what he needs to know and let them just, you know, we'll figure out the worst.
1:04:09
SPEAKER_00: But to be fair, I have those moments too.
1:04:11
SPEAKER_00: Well, like my name.
1:04:14
SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, my name.
1:04:15
SPEAKER_03: Um yeah, but we we are gonna find out what has kind of prompted this fog in him.
1:04:27
SPEAKER_00: Because he can't answer anything.
1:04:29
SPEAKER_00: I feel like he's trying, it's like it's too much.
1:04:31
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, he's trying to come up with a story, and he's like, dude, all we said was what time it was.
1:04:37
SPEAKER_00: You can't tell what time it is, like the simplest question.
1:04:40
SPEAKER_03: So yeah, I think this this weirdo is outside again with I don't know, a plier, a scissor cutting grass.
1:04:49
SPEAKER_03: What the fuck is wrong with him?
1:04:52
SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna send you the picture because I swear to god, like these people are fucking ridiculous.
1:05:00
SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry, I got sidetracked.
1:05:02
SPEAKER_03: I heard noise outside and I looked out the window, and there's the old man cutting his grass with like it's hard to see because of the he's pulling weeds, I think, but still.
1:05:12
SPEAKER_03: Like, do you see him bending over?
1:05:14
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and yeah, anyway.
1:05:19
SPEAKER_03: There's no you can't make this shit up.
1:05:25
SPEAKER_03: You cannot make this shit up.
1:05:27
SPEAKER_03: Anyway, with the rove footage, now we understand how come the freighter people understood that they were all dead.
1:05:39
SPEAKER_03: They saw footage of the plane at the bottom of the ocean, right, with all the passengers dead, supposedly accounted for, right?
1:05:49
SPEAKER_03: But we also saw, as the audience, the plane fall on the island and break into two halves.
1:05:58
SPEAKER_00: You do with that what you will, and also, oh fuck, I forgot.
1:06:03
SPEAKER_00: I keep jumping off my train.
1:06:05
SPEAKER_00: My train's never like the train is staying on track, but my fuck this, I'm jumping off.
1:06:10
SPEAKER_03: You can jump on at the next stop, don't worry.
1:06:13
SPEAKER_03: Oh god, it'll wait for you at the next stop.
1:06:16
SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
1:06:18
SPEAKER_01: Okay, when you remember, I it might be like two episodes from now, but yes.
1:06:23
SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna that's okay.
1:06:25
SPEAKER_03: Okay.
1:06:26
SPEAKER_03: There are some ironic things.
1:06:28
SPEAKER_03: So we talked about the fact how like um Locke's father stealing his kidney ironically led to him being not dead.
1:06:40
unknown: Right.
1:06:41
SPEAKER_03: Ben's life was also saved by Charlotte, right?
1:06:45
SPEAKER_03: Because he tried to kill her.
1:06:47
SPEAKER_03: And the only reason that they didn't end up in turn killing Ben for that attempted murder was that she had on he knew well, no, that's a good one.
1:06:58
SPEAKER_00: Well, well, right, because he knew also, all right.
1:07:00
SPEAKER_00: He also right, she's the acknowledgement of that saved his life.
1:07:07
SPEAKER_00: That's funny.
1:07:08
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:07:08
SPEAKER_03: So he was just saved by the woman that he tried to kill.
1:07:12
SPEAKER_03: Naomi is instructed by Abaddon to get the team in and out safely, and that she's the only one with training, but yet she's also the dead one.
1:07:24
SPEAKER_01: The dead one.
1:07:27
SPEAKER_03: When Miles talks about the code, tell my sister I love her, and then he makes a joke, like as an example, how Jack would use the words tell my sister I love her because he had the gun to Jack.
1:07:40
SPEAKER_03: And remember, Jack's sister, Jack has a sister, and his sister is clear.
1:07:46
SPEAKER_03: Right.
1:07:47
SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
1:07:48
SPEAKER_03: Right.
1:07:48
SPEAKER_03: I completely forgot.
1:07:49
SPEAKER_03: Right.
1:07:50
SPEAKER_03: I don't remember if they realize it yet.
1:07:53
SPEAKER_03: No.
1:07:54
SPEAKER_03: They don't, right?
1:07:55
SPEAKER_00: No.
1:07:55
SPEAKER_03: Okay.
1:07:56
SPEAKER_00: Because the reason we know is because of flashback.
1:07:59
SPEAKER_03: Right, right, right.
1:08:00
SPEAKER_03: So this episode marks the return of the flashback method.
1:08:05
SPEAKER_00: Because I feel like it's kind of hard to say a return because it's been what two episodes.
1:08:11
SPEAKER_00: Like three.
1:08:12
SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
1:08:13
SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, no.
1:08:14
SPEAKER_00: This is the third one, but it's only been gone for two episodes.
1:08:17
SPEAKER_00: So I've kind of been like, actually, no, well, three.
1:08:19
SPEAKER_00: No, it's four.
1:08:21
SPEAKER_00: So see the season finale was all flash.
1:08:25
SPEAKER_00: No, it was flashbacks and flash forwards.
1:08:27
SPEAKER_00: So it's only been gone for two episodes.
1:08:29
SPEAKER_03: I've kind of feel like seasons one through three are all flashbacks, with the exception of the finale.
1:08:36
SPEAKER_03: Right.
1:08:37
SPEAKER_03: Because we're led to think that they're flashbacks, and then at the end we find out that they're forward.
1:08:42
SPEAKER_00: Okay, so three episodes that they were gone.
1:08:45
SPEAKER_00: It's kind of hard, like I'm making a comeback when you're like, we didn't go anywhere.
1:08:49
SPEAKER_00: I just did a nap.
1:08:50
SPEAKER_03: Right.
1:08:50
SPEAKER_03: I just it was a a nap.
1:08:52
SPEAKER_03: You're right.
1:08:55
SPEAKER_03: They took a nap.
1:08:59
SPEAKER_03: Said wonders why Miles isn't surprised that there's survivors of flight A15.
1:09:04
SPEAKER_03: But then in the next scene, Charlotte is like, I can't believe there are survivors.
1:09:10
SPEAKER_00: Because they're all acting.
1:09:11
SPEAKER_00: I think Miles is just like fuck the act, fuck the pretense, like it is what it is.
1:09:15
SPEAKER_00: And Charles is still going off the road.
1:09:18
unknown: Okay.
1:09:18
SPEAKER_00: And what they were made to right.
1:09:21
SPEAKER_03: There's a poster for the fictional band Dirt Spigot that can be seen in the rooms that Miles is working in.
1:09:28
SPEAKER_03: And this is the band that the director of the Buddies diaper commercial wanted to hire instead of Drive Shaft.
1:09:36
SPEAKER_03: So it's just a little callback.
1:09:37
SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's I mean, it's yeah, it's something that would be like really hard to pick up unless you I didn't, you know.
1:09:44
SPEAKER_03: But yeah.
1:09:45
SPEAKER_00: I remember I was gonna say, I don't know which which train journey it was, but I remember I was gonna say the whole pilot that was supposed to be in dead.
1:09:54
SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
1:09:55
SPEAKER_00: Not the same guy.
1:09:58
SPEAKER_00: Is that part of the show, or was it just a change of actors?
1:10:01
SPEAKER_00: What do you mean?
1:10:03
SPEAKER_00: Unless I was a co-pilot.
1:10:05
SPEAKER_00: The guy that got eaten by the by the monster in the pilot episode.
1:10:09
SPEAKER_00: That was the pilot.
1:10:10
SPEAKER_00: That's not the same guy that's that was aired then.
1:10:12
SPEAKER_00: That was aired in the video.
1:10:15
SPEAKER_00: It's a different actor.
1:10:17
SPEAKER_03: The picture of the pilot is the same actor.
1:10:20
SPEAKER_00: It didn't look like it.
1:10:22
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was.
1:10:22
SPEAKER_03: It just it had like a mustache or something.
1:10:24
SPEAKER_03: Like I usually, like when we see him in other shows, I don't think he usually has a mustache.
1:10:29
SPEAKER_00: Does it have it?
1:10:30
SPEAKER_00: That's why I just thought it was a totally different person.
1:10:32
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I don't think he had a mustache in the show.
1:10:35
SPEAKER_03: He didn't, yeah, but but it was the same actor in the photo.
1:10:40
SPEAKER_03: Okay, that's why I was just like, it's not the same guy, he's friends with the with somebody from the show.
1:10:47
SPEAKER_03: I forgot Abrams.
1:10:49
SPEAKER_03: Something like that, yeah.
1:10:50
SPEAKER_03: And so he he's like always in his project.
1:10:54
SPEAKER_00: His shows, right?
1:10:55
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you told me every told me that.
1:10:56
SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I'm looking at the TV, I'm getting my glasses, I'm like, that's not the same.
1:11:01
SPEAKER_00: Is it the same guy?
1:11:02
SPEAKER_00: I don't think it's the same guy, it might be the same guy.
1:11:04
SPEAKER_03: And I just never okay so the guy in the picture was the same as the pilot in the pilot.
1:11:10
SPEAKER_03: The guy the pilot in the pilot the pilot that gets eaten in the pilot.
1:11:15
SPEAKER_03: I got that though.
1:11:18
SPEAKER_03: The person, the dead body in the footage, according to Lapitas, is not him, right?
1:11:26
SPEAKER_00: Yes, I don't knew.
1:11:27
SPEAKER_00: I I just look at this thing like that.
1:11:29
SPEAKER_00: I just saw the picture.
1:11:30
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, that's not that dude.
1:11:32
SPEAKER_00: I don't know who's a dude.
1:11:33
SPEAKER_00: Because I know the dude, because the dude is in like all the Abrams show, JJ Abram shows, and I feel like he was an alias, I liked him an alias, and anyway, yeah, I'm random.
1:11:42
SPEAKER_03: Okay, so more or less, that's about the end of the episode.
1:11:46
SPEAKER_03: This episode now introduces a helicopter, and realistically, you're like, ooh, a helicopter.
1:11:54
SPEAKER_03: But if you really think about it, how do you think people gonna get right?
1:11:58
SPEAKER_03: How else would they have gotten there?
1:12:00
SPEAKER_03: So it's kind of like, oh yeah, well, duh, we needed that.
1:12:04
SPEAKER_03: But Charlotte is not convinced, right, about A15.
1:12:09
SPEAKER_03: Miles wasn't surprised.
1:12:11
SPEAKER_03: Ben says he has a man on the boat and knows all about Charlotte, and there's this mysterious picture of Ben.
1:12:19
SPEAKER_03: Who was who took it, why was it taken, where was it taken, and why is he the one being searched for?
1:12:28
SPEAKER_03: And by who?
1:12:29
SPEAKER_03: We have a lot more questions.
1:12:32
SPEAKER_00: Of course, of course, of course, of course, of course, of course, and Ben is always in the trouble.
1:12:39
SPEAKER_00: I don't want to try to think of words.
1:12:40
SPEAKER_00: Anyhow, I do not try to psychoanalyze a TV show because I'm legit going to end up in a padded room.
1:12:49
SPEAKER_00: So I just try to watch it and then I'll give you random bullshit that pops out of my mouth when you ask at time.
1:12:57
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because I can't.
1:13:00
SPEAKER_03: Okay, so no wacky theories that you want to do.
1:13:04
SPEAKER_00: No, not today.
1:13:05
SPEAKER_00: I told I no, I I think I gave one earlier about Penny and her father.
1:13:11
SPEAKER_00: Well, no, this this time and space continuum, and that because in another universe, the earth is tilted on a different axis.
1:13:19
SPEAKER_00: So, what is here, the desert is like the Arctic there, and that's why the polar bear was in the middle of the desert.
1:13:25
SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna have to write that one down in post because I wish they could Stevie.
1:13:34
SPEAKER_01: I wish they could Stevie.
1:13:35
SPEAKER_01: I have my hand, like this is the earth, it was tilted, it's doing this now instead of this.
1:13:41
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
1:13:43
SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
1:13:45
SPEAKER_03: Uh anyhow.
1:13:49
SPEAKER_03: And the uh wise words of Jerry Springer.
1:13:52
SPEAKER_03: Any final thoughts before we wrap up?
1:13:55
SPEAKER_00: Have none.
1:13:57
SPEAKER_00: Oh, wait.
1:13:58
SPEAKER_00: Do you have my going my welcome home present?
1:14:00
SPEAKER_00: Do we have anything you could tell me that's not gonna give me a spoiler?
1:14:02
SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay, let's look.
1:14:04
SPEAKER_00: I like proof that I'm not completely insane.
1:14:08
SPEAKER_03: Okay, so one of the questions that you had asked was why was Kate on the run?
1:14:15
SPEAKER_03: So we've answered that.
1:14:17
SPEAKER_03: She was on the run because of blowing up and killing the mother's abusive husband.
1:14:23
SPEAKER_03: Right.
1:14:25
SPEAKER_03: Another question you've asked was, how did Locke get in the wheelchair?
1:14:30
SPEAKER_03: And now we know it's from his father throwing him out of an eight-story window.
1:14:35
SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna read all the questions that you've asked so far, and I'll tell you which ones have been answered.
1:14:43
SPEAKER_03: So you asked who sent Kate the letter, and the letter remember the letter referred to like that her mother was sick?
1:14:50
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
1:14:51
SPEAKER_00: Vaguely, yes.
1:14:52
SPEAKER_03: We never we've we haven't gotten an answer.
1:14:55
SPEAKER_03: You said why did they want Claire's baby?
1:14:58
SPEAKER_03: Which I think we kind of know the answer, right?
1:15:03
SPEAKER_03: There's the whole issue with pregnant women on the island.
1:15:07
SPEAKER_00: Right, right, right, right, right, dying.
1:15:08
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:15:09
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:15:10
SPEAKER_03: So we can get rid of that one.
1:15:12
SPEAKER_03: You ask what was the incident?
1:15:15
SPEAKER_03: We haven't gotten an answer.
1:15:18
SPEAKER_03: You said, what the fuck happened to the others to be so militant?
1:15:23
SPEAKER_03: No answer.
1:15:25
SPEAKER_00: Well, kind of.
1:15:28
SPEAKER_00: Ben made them that way.
1:15:30
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
1:15:31
SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, kind of like we can kind of see what happened.
1:15:34
SPEAKER_00: Like Ben made them that way, and he was obviously afraid of somebody, he knew someone was coming and threatening their way alive.
1:15:43
SPEAKER_03: Does Locke know the real Sawyer?
1:15:46
SPEAKER_03: And in fact, we find out he does, and the real Sawyer was his father.
1:15:53
unknown: Right.
1:15:54
SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
1:15:55
SPEAKER_03: That was one of his aliases.
1:15:57
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:15:58
SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
1:15:59
SPEAKER_00: That's funny.
1:15:59
SPEAKER_00: We just found that out.
1:16:00
SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
1:16:02
SPEAKER_00: He know, but he didn't know.
1:16:04
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:16:05
SPEAKER_03: Do we find out what happens if they don't hit enter?
1:16:09
SPEAKER_03: Yes, the hatch blew up.
1:16:11
SPEAKER_00: Do you realize we recorded this show these shows four years ago?
1:16:15
SPEAKER_00: Uh seriously.
1:16:17
SPEAKER_00: It was only 90.
1:16:20
SPEAKER_03: 19, yeah.
1:16:22
SPEAKER_00: So, oh my god.
1:16:23
SPEAKER_00: No wonder I feel like up in the island for now.
1:16:27
SPEAKER_03: How did Ben get Anthony Cooper in the box?
1:16:30
SPEAKER_00: Who's Anthony Cooper?
1:16:33
SPEAKER_03: Uh Locke's father.
1:16:35
SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
1:16:36
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and so like we don't kind of know, but he's remember he says that one minute he's like driving down the highway, and then the next he was in a crash, waking up in an ambulance, and like uh in this box.
1:16:52
SPEAKER_03: Right, okay.
1:16:54
SPEAKER_03: Okay, so I'm gonna tell you your observations so far.
1:16:59
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:17:00
SPEAKER_03: You said you said that the island moves when we were doing Exodus.
1:17:07
SPEAKER_03: You said that the island moves, and that's why no one finds it, and that if you're right, you're gonna smack yourself.
1:17:12
SPEAKER_00: I look like I don't have to smack myself yet.
1:17:15
SPEAKER_03: No, and it's funny, you just said that again.
1:17:17
SPEAKER_03: You said that the hurly bird is gonna be back.
1:17:21
SPEAKER_03: I don't remember if that came true or not.
1:17:24
SPEAKER_00: What's the hurly bird?
1:17:26
SPEAKER_03: Uh, the bird that kind of like sounds like it's saying hurly when it flies.
1:17:30
SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
1:17:32
SPEAKER_00: Hurley bird.
1:17:33
SPEAKER_00: Okay, duh.
1:17:33
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
1:17:35
SPEAKER_03: Okay, so this is not one that was a theory of yours, but I I think I couldn't tell you just yet, and then and then I don't know, but I didn't.
1:17:45
SPEAKER_03: So this is a quote.
1:17:46
SPEAKER_03: Adam Seward, Anthony Cooper.
1:17:50
SPEAKER_03: Adam Seward was one of his aliases.
1:17:53
SPEAKER_03: Aliasists, but it's an anagram, and if you rearrange it, it says Sawyer, the con man, a poor dad.
1:18:02
SPEAKER_03: But now we know that he Anthony Cooper is the original Sawyer and he is Locke's dad.
1:18:09
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there's none else that I can give you.
1:18:14
SPEAKER_00: Because it's be spoiler alerts, fine.
1:18:18
SPEAKER_00: Be that way, mom.
1:18:20
SPEAKER_03: Sorry.
1:18:21
SPEAKER_03: Let me let me just check on one thing that I'm a little bit unsure of, but uh the only other one here is when we when we recorded one of us, we talked about Ben being the man behind the curtain.
1:18:36
SPEAKER_03: Like kind of wizard of oz.
1:18:38
SPEAKER_03: And then there was the episode called The Man Behind the Curtain.
1:18:42
SPEAKER_03: And he and he was the Wizard of Oz.
1:18:45
SPEAKER_00: Right.
1:18:45
SPEAKER_00: Oh right, right, right, right, right, right.
1:18:48
SPEAKER_00: But we yeah, okay.
1:18:50
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but there's yeah, there's not really there's nothing else I can give you just yet.
1:18:57
SPEAKER_03: Why does Faraday have a what do they call her?
1:19:00
SPEAKER_00: A caretaker?
1:19:01
SPEAKER_00: Why does she have a why does he have a caretaker?
1:19:04
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I can't tell you that yet.
1:19:05
SPEAKER_00: I mean, I I kind of figured you couldn't.
1:19:08
SPEAKER_00: It was more like uh throw that on there.
1:19:10
SPEAKER_00: So that knows why does he have a caretaker?
1:19:12
SPEAKER_00: I will throw that on there.
1:19:14
SPEAKER_00: Why does my brain working slowly and steadily?
1:19:16
SPEAKER_00: Um sometimes I jump, you're right.
1:19:18
SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I jump on the train and jump off the train and jump jump through the open doors of the car and jump back and forth.
1:19:24
SPEAKER_00: Um Faraday, caretaker.
1:19:28
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
1:19:30
SPEAKER_00: Now this is like some kind of like Do you remember you ever see um National Treasure um with Nicholas Cage?
1:19:36
SPEAKER_03: Nicholas Cage?
1:19:37
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then the hunt.
1:19:39
SPEAKER_00: And they do those random words, like he goes like Faraday, Cage, then we got Caretaker.
1:19:45
SPEAKER_00: He pops up some like random shit that connects them all.
1:19:48
SPEAKER_00: That's how I'm feeling right now.
1:19:50
SPEAKER_00: Like, let me put all this stuff together and get it.
1:19:54
SPEAKER_00: No, sorry, not working.
1:19:55
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't remember the movie that well, but well, like the way he thinks, he like it's like different clues, he kind of like pulls out different things from the clues, and somehow he makes the clues all make sense.
1:20:06
SPEAKER_00: So now I'm like, Faraday, caretaker, cage, Nicholas, and I'm just doing like random shit, like lost.
1:20:14
SPEAKER_00: Faraday is lost.
1:20:16
SPEAKER_00: He needs a caretaker to get him back home.
1:20:19
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
1:20:20
SPEAKER_03: Okay, I'm gonna tell you the connection that I made.
1:20:23
SPEAKER_03: It's it's not like a spoiler so much, but it I don't know.
1:20:29
SPEAKER_03: So you know how like the show does a lot of like double meanings, right?
1:20:35
SPEAKER_03: So the title of the show is called Lost, and obviously, like these people crashed on a plane and they're lost on a desert island, but I never gave it much thought that it also refers to all of them and and how lost they are as people.
1:20:52
SPEAKER_03: Yes, yeah, I never really put that together before.
1:20:56
SPEAKER_03: But aren't we all lost?
1:20:58
SPEAKER_03: Well, in that sense, yes, except that in this sense it has a lot to do with the show's plot line as a whole, yeah.
1:21:10
SPEAKER_00: So the and it's funny how all they're they're all connected.
1:21:13
SPEAKER_00: What are the odds that all these people are connected some way, some harm, some way, some form, somehow?
1:21:19
SPEAKER_00: Like right, weirdos.
1:21:25
SPEAKER_00: Anything else about this one before we wrap it up?
1:21:28
SPEAKER_00: Nope.
1:21:29
SPEAKER_00: I think I am mentally subject, Daddy.
1:21:33
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I forgot.
1:21:34
SPEAKER_00: Jump back off the train.
1:21:35
SPEAKER_00: Ignore me.
1:21:38
SPEAKER_03: The next episode is called The Economist.
1:21:42
SPEAKER_03: It's a Said-centric episode.
1:21:44
SPEAKER_03: My baby daddy, your baby daddy.
1:21:48
SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna I'm gonna tell you the the synopsis for it real quick.
1:21:52
SPEAKER_00: Okay.
1:21:53
SPEAKER_03: It says that Locke's hostage may be the key to getting off the island.
1:21:59
SPEAKER_03: So Said and Kate go in search of their fellow castaways in an attempt to negotiate a peaceful deal.
1:22:07
SPEAKER_03: That's all I'm telling you.
1:22:08
SPEAKER_00: Uh that just left me so fucking confused because none of it makes sense.
1:22:13
SPEAKER_03: It never does.
1:22:14
SPEAKER_00: But that's knocking my head against a padded wall.
1:22:21
SPEAKER_03: So we'll see, we'll see each other back here for that one.
1:22:25
SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna have on a nice white coat with long sleeves, by the way.
1:22:29
SPEAKER_00: Okay, I think.

SPEAKER_03: All right, and some straps.
1:22:32
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I have bedazzled though.
1:22:34
SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
