• 0:46
Speaker 1: Howdy, folks, how y'all doing out there.
• 0:50
  Speaker 2: Good morning guys.
• 0:51
Speaker 2: Thank you so much for having us on.
• 0:53
Speaker 2: It promises to be a really warm day in the desert with some hot off-road racing, but I want to pass.
• 1:00
Speaker 2: I'm so happy to be with you.
• 1:02
Speaker 2: And I want to pass, I'm so happy to be with you.
• 1:03
Speaker 2: I want to pass you over quickly to Cam Douglas, who is the Director of Marketing for Optima Battery, and let him share a few factoids with you and at the end remind Cam or me there's a secret that we want to allude to.
• 1:21
Speaker 2: Uh-oh, and maybe for our next show, we've got some really big news, okay great Cam, good to have you with us today.
• 1:28
  Speaker 1: How are you?
• 1:28
  Speaker 1: I'm doing?
• 1:30
  Speaker 3: great.
• 1:30
Speaker 3: Have you got the air?
• 1:31
Speaker 3: Have you got the air?
• 1:32
  Speaker 1: Yeah, you bet.
• 1:33
Speaker 1: Have you guys got the air conditioner cranked up in those race cars up there?
• 1:37
  Speaker 3: Yep, yeah, 95 degrees at 9 o'clock.
• 1:41
Speaker 1: Yes degrees at nine o'clock, yes, and so I assume that the windows are out and, uh, the air conditioning is the natural kind.
• 1:47
Speaker 1: So, cam, how did you get involved in this?
• 1:51
Speaker 3: in like the whole automotive space, or well, yes well well with sue well, yeah, how did you?
• 1:59
Speaker 1: how did you get involved with Sue Mead?
• 2:02
Speaker 3: Well, it's all about off-road racing with Sue.
• 2:05
Speaker 3: So, yeah, we've been involved in off-road.
• 2:09
Speaker 3: It's one of our toughest proving grounds for our product.
• 2:13
Speaker 3: So if you're in the off-road space, you're going to bump into Sue eventually.
• 2:19
Speaker 3: So that's how I met Sue.
• 2:22
Speaker 3: I think it was through the Baja series actually.
• 2:27
Speaker 2: That's right, and I know that batteries are extremely important for autos and for airplanes that I sometimes fly.
• 2:35
Speaker 2: But I've learned so much by hanging out with the folks at Optima and their parent company, clarios.
• 2:44
Speaker 1: You know it's interesting.
• 2:45
Speaker 1: You should say how rugged the batteries are, because the battery that I bought the Optima that I bought came via USPS.
• 2:53
Speaker 1: It was either the postal service or it might have been UPS.
• 2:58
Speaker 1: Either way it came in the mail and I'm going oh my God, how do you do that?
• 3:03
Speaker 1: Because obviously I'm old school with lead acid batteries and you know, don't turn them over and none of that stuff.
• 3:10
Speaker 1: Well, apparently with the optima that's not an issue right optimus are completely sealed.
• 3:16
Speaker 3: So um it's, uh.
• 3:18
Speaker 3: It has a rating for shipping and all that good stuff to be able to be shipped by regular conventional methods, including next day air.
• 3:31
Speaker 1: Well, you know, and I'm sure that you guys have dealt with this in the off-road world where you've got a vehicle that rolls over occasionally and you don't have to worry about the battery spilling blood acid all over the place.
• 3:44
Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think Sue knows about that.
• 3:46
Speaker 3: She told me that story once or twice.
• 3:49
Speaker 2: I have rolled over and it's very frightening.
• 3:53
Speaker 2: But also it's one of the things I said to Cam when I got to know this battery company and that it was sealed was that we think about that maybe happening with off-road racing.
• 4:05
Speaker 2: We don't always think about it happening on the highway.
• 4:07
Speaker 2: There are a lot of rollovers with trucks and suvs and cars on the highway and it's a safety issue well, yes, of course it is, and, uh, we see a lot more of them, especially with suvs.
• 4:19
Speaker 1: They're sitting so high off the ground.
• 4:20
Speaker 1: You know they're easy, a lot easier to roll over than a car these days.
• 4:36
Speaker 3: Yeah, in addition, you probably remember when you buy a like a vintage car 30 years, 50 years old and you open up the hood and you look at a neat old original car and typically the underside of the hood is all corroded because of the old conventional lead acid battery, even in a nice california car that that tends to do that just from the fumes and stuff.
• 4:55
Speaker 3: But an optimal battery is will not corrode inside the engine department, even whether it's tipped over or not.
• 5:04
Speaker 1: So well, one of the other interesting things about your batteries is the fact that you know they last a long time and really in today's world I think that they're fairly competitive when it comes to pricing.
• 5:18
Speaker 3: Yeah, quite a bit.
• 5:19
Speaker 3: Other batteries that are manufactured using AGM technology have become more expensive.
• 5:26
Speaker 3: Our product is still a premium battery that has a slightly higher price point, but it's not as big a leap to consider an Optima battery.
• 5:42
Speaker 3: Compared to a regular battery.
• 5:43
Speaker 3: It's usually about 10% to 20% more expensive.
• 5:48
Speaker 1: Cam tell everybody what the difference is between a yellow top and a red top.
• 5:53
Speaker 3: Sure, that is absolutely the most common question we get.
• 5:57
Speaker 3: So a red top battery is the original chemistry that we created back in the late 70s and actually is still used today, and that chemistry is designed for the highest cranking power and longest life.
• 6:15
Speaker 3: But really the red battery is for the highest cranking power, is for the highest cranking power.
• 6:23
Speaker 3: The yellow top is a deep cycle battery that has the ability to be cycled numerous times.
• 6:31
Speaker 3: So where the red top may cycle 50 times, the yellow top may cycle, you know, in excess of 300 times.
• 6:39
Speaker 3: The unique property about an Optima yellow top is that it also has extremely high cranking power, so it will also start most any vehicle.
• 6:51
Speaker 3: So as a default, when people are using batteries to their extreme, jeeps will have big driving lights and stereo systems etc.
• 7:06
Speaker 3: The default choice there is use a yellow top.
• 7:12
Speaker 3: So anytime you're exceeding the alternator's capacity you want to use a yellow top.
• 7:18
Speaker 3: That's when you're taxing the battery.
• 7:21
  Speaker 1: Interesting, interesting.
• 7:22
Speaker 1: So, Sue, let me touch with you just for a moment here about your event that you're out there in the gambling world of Nevada.
• 7:33
  Speaker 2: I haven't been gambling yet.
• 7:35
Speaker 2: I might just throw a dollar in a slot machine.
• 7:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, Sue, we know about you and your gambling.
• 7:41
Speaker 2: Did you see me on the overnight cams?
• 7:44
Speaker 2: I'm here to see Christopher Polvardi in his Ford trophy truck Ultimate truck yeah, go off the line at 3.30 today and tomorrow and you guys know I love off-roading, so that's the main reason I'm here and to learn more about Optima.
• 8:09
Speaker 2: They also told me when I first met them about a year and a half ago we're a company that likes to have fun.
• 8:16
  Speaker 2: I said what?
• 8:17
Speaker 2: All right, I traveled 13 hours to come and be with them in this off-road space.
• 8:23
Speaker 2: But I want to also have Cam tell you this company sponsors a number of what it calls athletes, and they're not just in the off-road world, be it Trophy Truck or UTV.
• 8:38
Speaker 2: They have a UTV athlete going off the line today.
• 8:41
Speaker 2: But there are a lot of other ends of the competition industry where you're doing testing on your batteries.
• 8:50
  Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean.
• 8:51
  Speaker 3: So.
• 8:52
Speaker 3: We make batteries, and there's many different vehicles that use batteries.
• 8:57
Speaker 3: I have a passion for off-road racing, I have a passion for on-road racing, and everybody has their own unique passion.
• 9:05
Speaker 3: One of the athletes that we sponsor is Edwin Ebers in bass fishing.
• 9:13
Speaker 3: He's a world champion bass fisherman, and that's a little different than off-road racing, right.
• 9:21
Speaker 3: It's a little different than on-road racing, right.
• 9:24
  Speaker 3: It's a little different than on-road racing, but it's nonetheless.
• 9:27
Speaker 3: He pushes himself to the limit to be a world champion and pushes his boat and his electronics to the limit as well, so it's kind of interesting.
• 9:37
Speaker 1: Yeah, because I know that you guys also make a whole line of marine batteries as well.
• 9:42
Speaker 3: Yeah and the ATVs.
• 9:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's a full lineup of batteries, and I guess Optimacom is where we can get more information on all this, including the racing.
• 9:52
  Speaker 3: Absolutely.
• 9:53
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 9:54
Speaker 2: Guys, I'd like to throw in one more thing before we get to the end and tell us how many more moments we have.
• 10:00
Speaker 2: One of the first things I learned about Optima that really sold me was when we were at King of the Hammers last year and I saw that they were providing free charging for folks who came out to the desert with electric vehicles.
• 10:16
Speaker 2: There was a hydrogen charging or fueling station, as well as solar, and I like that.
• 10:23
Speaker 2: But what Optima and Clarios do is recycle 8,000 batteries every hour, 24 hours a day, am I?
• 10:37
  Speaker 5: right.
• 10:37
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 10:38
Speaker 5: That's a lot of batteries, yeah.
• 10:41
Speaker 1: Congratulations to them, because all I know what to do is to take it back to the auto parts store and say here, give me another one.
• 10:47
  Speaker 1: That's about it.
• 10:49
Speaker 3: Listen, it's great to those batteries that you're taking back to the auto parts store.
• 10:53
Speaker 3: Those are part of those 8,000 that they're running Exactly.
• 10:58
Speaker 1: Very good to know.
• 10:58
Speaker 1: Sue and Cam, thank you all so much for joining us today.

Speaker 1: That's two weeks from today.
• 13:36
Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us today here on In Wheel Time, and Mr Mars has a review of the Infiniti QX60.
• 13:43
Speaker 5: Yes, sir, I had a chance to drive the 2025 Infiniti QX60.
• 13:47
Speaker 5: Now, this 60, this vehicle, sissy, sissy, yeah, you said it, I'm not going there.
• 13:54
Speaker 5: So this vehicle is assembled in Smyna, smyrna, smyrna, tennessee.
• 13:59
Speaker 5: The engine comes in from japan.
• 14:01
Speaker 5: The transmission is us made.
• 14:03
Speaker 5: Now it's available in four trim levels.
• 14:05
Speaker 5: You get the pure, the lux, the sensory and the autograph as the top of the line.
• 14:09
Speaker 5: We were driving the lux all-wheel drive version.
• 14:13
Speaker 5: Now your government says this is a standard suv.
• 14:16
  Speaker 5: To me it's a midsize.
• 14:18
Speaker 5: I like calling it a midsize.
• 14:20
Speaker 5: It makes it a little bit easier to determine size whenever you're talking about it.
• 14:23
Speaker 5: Now it is a three-row vehicle.
• 14:25
Speaker 5: We had the seven-seat, we had the seven-passenger arrangement.
• 14:28
Speaker 5: You can get a bench seat in the second row and it'll give you another passenger.
• 14:33
Speaker 5: Now we also had the black edition.
• 14:36
Speaker 5: Now, this is an add-on.
• 14:36
Speaker 5: It Now we also had the black edition.
• 14:37
Speaker 5: Now, this is an add-on.
• 14:38
Speaker 5: It gives you the black front grille, the black roof rails, black emblems around on the car and also had the optional black finish alloy wheels.
• 14:48
Speaker 5: Now it's really kind of a shiny black, really looks nice on the vehicle and it's got a lot of the luxury touches you would expect from a luxury SUV Rain-sensing wipers, power-folding, side mirrors that are heated, got approach lighting.
• 15:01
Speaker 5: So when you walk up to it and I really like the size and the style of this vehicle, now, when you get into the interior, again infinity.
• 15:08
Speaker 5: You're looking at leather seating surfaces.
• 15:10
Speaker 5: The front row, it's heated, ventilated seats.
• 15:13
Speaker 5: Second row, the outboard seating positions are also heated.
• 15:16
Speaker 5: And the third row falls down and there's actually some underfloor storage back there underneath that third floor.
• 15:22
Speaker 5: Not a lot, but a little bit.
• 15:24
Speaker 5: Now you're going to find you've got a 12.3-inch center stack screen and that's where you're going to find your Infinity InTouch system, which is your nav, your audio, your convenience controls, surround view camera.
• 15:35
Speaker 5: That I thought worked really well.
• 15:37
Speaker 5: If you weren't going very fast, you could actually go down the road with it and kind of watch what's around you a little bit before it hits the speed where it kicks in.
• 15:43
Speaker 1: Talk about distracted driving.
• 15:45
Speaker 5: It has Apple CarPlay, that's wireless, but the Android Auto you've got to be wired, it's not wireless to make a connection with that kind of connection Way to go.
• 15:55
Speaker 5: So we also had the Bose 17 speaker audio system and the rear doors the second row doors have window shades in them, which I've seen that now twice and I think that's a nice little add coming back from the past.
• 16:07
Speaker 5: Up under the hood 2.0 liter turbo, four-cylinder Pardon me, sir, do you have any Grey Poupon?
• 16:13
Speaker 5: The reason the window shades yes 268 horsepower, 286 pound-feet of torque, with a nine-speed automatic transmission.
• 16:20
Speaker 5: Now properly equipped with a tow package and things, you can tow 6,000 pounds with this vehicle.
• 16:25
Speaker 5: Epa says you should be looking for 22 in the city, 27 on the highway combined, 24 using premium fuel.
• 16:32
  Speaker 5: It's required.
• 16:32
Speaker 5: Uh-oh, the sticker says premium fuel, so you've got to make a note.
• 16:34
Speaker 5: You're going to pay a little bit more for that fuel.
• 16:35
  Speaker 5: It's required.
• 16:36
Speaker 5: Uh-oh, the sticker says premium fuel, so you've got to make a note.
• 16:39
Speaker 5: You're going to pay a little bit more for that fuel Did you put premium fuel in it when you had it.
• 16:42
Speaker 5: I only had to put gas in it one time.
• 16:44
Speaker 1: Did you use premium fuel when you put it in there?
• 16:46
  Speaker 5: Actually I did because I didn't.
• 16:47
Speaker 5: Oh Mars, come on, I saw you.
• 16:53
Speaker 5: I thought how stupid is this Anyway, but I did it.
• 16:57
Speaker 5: It's on my car.
• 16:58
Speaker 5: I didn't want to mess it up and I don't believe it does.
• 17:00
Speaker 5: But anyway, I drove this vehicle 451 miles, nice range on it, a lot of highway time, a lot of city time.
• 17:07
Speaker 5: I averaged 23.3 miles to the gallon on this vehicle.
• 17:10
Speaker 5: So I thought it was very nicely done.
• 17:13
Speaker 5: It had plenty of smooth power band.
• 17:14
Speaker 5: I thought it drove quite nicely inside the city.
• 17:18
Speaker 5: It's flexible to maneuver around.
• 17:20
Speaker 5: It's easy to park Out on the highway, an open road, the highway bumps, the imperfections in the highway.
• 17:25
Speaker 5: It felt a little stiff, you could feel them.
• 17:27
Speaker 5: They were a little bit harsher than what you do at the city speed.
• 17:30
Speaker 5: So I'm not sure if you, mike, could do something with the tires If you really wanted to change that.
• 17:36
Speaker 4: It wasn't real bad.
• 17:36
Speaker 5: It was a very we'll fix that up yeah, yeah, but it had a nice quiet row.
• 17:40
Speaker 5: If I was going to change anything I would leave that third row out.
• 17:43
Speaker 5: I just small vehicles like that.
• 17:45
Speaker 5: I prefer without it.
• 17:46
Speaker 5: More space, uh, if uh, pricing base trim price fifty eight thousand eight hundred dollars now, as tested with a few things that we had there, we go black edition 62 745 dollars.
• 17:59
Speaker 5: All right, base model price you get into this thing at the base model on the pure level at 51 550 good luck in trying to find one of those in a base.
• 18:07
Speaker 5: Yeah, really uh, if you're looking for something to compare it to, an acura mdx will start at 51 to audi q7 at 60 500 and the Lincoln Aviator at $58,995, all of them in what I call a midsize that your government says is a standard SUV.
• 18:23
Speaker 5: So if you're looking for a package in this size vehicle, you absolutely should look at this Infiniti.
• 18:30
Speaker 5: I think you'll like it real well and that's my review of the 2025 Infiniti.
• 18:35
  Speaker 5: Qx60 Luxe all-wheel drive.
• 18:38
Speaker 1: All right, let's get the cruise in and events calendars from Jeffrey.

• 19:29
Speaker 1: Well, I'll probably go out there with a couple of the granddaughters.
• 19:31
Speaker 5: I've got two granddaughters that are seniors, but it's at 4 o'clock.
• 19:34
Speaker 5: And by the time I get back from here it's kind of a press and I did that on purpose.
