- 0:31Let's get ready.
- 0:32Comfortable and get started Welcome today.
- 0:42I want to discuss the difference between functional versus conventional medicine.
- 0:46And it is very important.
- 0:48You understand why both are needed.
- 0:51Oh, which one you should be utilized the most.
- 0:54Because I am biased since I've been a functional medicine doctor, I believe every body.
- 1:01Should be.
- 1:02In the functional medicine space, more so than they are in the conventional space.
- 1:07But today we're going to discuss the difference because it is important for you to.
- 1:10Identify and determine.
- 1:12When you should use one.
- 1:14Versus the other or how you can use both, conventional medicine that's where everybody's been.
- 1:19Right.
- 1:20You have a stomach issue acid reflux, you go to your primary care doctor and they give you a pill.
- 1:25Or you in pain, you don't know what's going on.
- 1:28If the primary care doctor cannot help you, he or she will refer you to a specialist, which is the GI doctor.
- 1:36So conventional medicine is one umbrella where you have all your specialists under one roof, you have your primary care doctor.
- 1:44Your experts or specialists like a GI doctor, your kidney doctor.
- 1:50your lung doctor pulmonologist, your brain doctor.
- 1:54New allergist or endocrinologist that you have all this expert in here.
- 1:59And the goal is to wheelie.
- 2:03I guess assess you, evaluate you and then give you a pill.
- 2:07So when you go to the conventional space, you are asking for a pill.
- 2:11If I'm being honest with you, that's the way it is.
- 2:13Sometimes you might find a conventional or conservative doctor who doesn't really give you prescription right away.
- 2:19But at the end of the day, 90% of the time.
- 2:23When you see a conventional doctor, you asking for a pill, you will live the office with a prescription, or they will call then.
- 2:31to your pharmacy.
- 2:34Think about conventional.
- 2:35Think about pale for the air.
- 2:37And also with conventional medicine, there's no preventative.
- 2:41Okay.
- 2:41So disease management.
- 2:44Madison.
- 2:46You have to be sick for your doctor to help you in the conventional space.
- 2:52If you are not sick enough.
- 2:54You will not get the help you're looking for.
- 2:57For instance, if you come to the doctor and say, doctor, I've been having headaches, Three days out of the week.
- 3:04And I'm worried.
- 3:06I'm scared.
- 3:07I might have an animism or I might have something.
- 3:10And you go to your primary care doctor.
- 3:12If you don't have the headache at the moment, you are speaking to your doctor, he or she will not do anything for you.
- 3:18With the conventional space.
- 3:20It is a quick visit.
- 3:22This is how it works.
- 3:24You call your doctor.
- 3:25You make an appointment for nine o'clock.
- 3:26And you show up for your medical visit.
- 3:29At LACC eight 30.
- 3:31Most often you will be waiting for hours.
- 3:33What is the purpose of scheduling an appointment?
- 3:36If you have to wait for hours, you sit in the waiting room.
- 3:40With other people waiting to be seen by the doctor.
- 3:42Four hours sometimes an hour, sometimes an hour and a half.
- 3:46Some doctors are trying to do better.
- 3:47Not, they might keep it short.
- 3:48The 30 minutes, but she'll be waiting.
- 3:50So your appointment for nine o'clock might not be, you might not be seen at nine o'clock.
- 3:54You walked in the nurse called you show you to the room set you down do all the things you need to do.
- 3:59Take your.
- 3:59Vital signs.
- 4:01Prepare you the doctor comes in.
- 4:02How are you?
- 4:03My name is Dr.
- 4:04So-and-so.
- 4:04What can I do for you?
- 4:05What's going on today?
- 4:07Depends on the questions.
- 4:08You have headaches what's causing the headaches?
- 4:10I don't know.
- 4:11Okay.
- 4:11Well, let's do some blood tests.
- 4:13Let's do basic things and see if we can help you.
- 4:16And then you get handed a script.
- 4:18A medication.
- 4:19And then off you go.
- 4:20If it's a blood test, you go to the blood test sometimes they'll call you sometimes they don't call you and you have to find out the results on your own.
- 4:28The nurse might call you back and say, everything is normal.
- 4:31Since everything is normal, then you should be normal, right?
- 4:34Why are you not.
- 4:35Feeling your best?
- 4:36Why are you still struggling?
- 4:38Why are you still.
- 4:40Experiencing the symptoms.
- 4:42If everything is normal.
- 4:43If the blood work shows some slight elevation slight abnormalities.
- 4:47The doctor might be telling you, it's just slightly elevated.
- 4:50We'll keep an eye on it.
- 4:51Why are we waiting until things get worse, we to do something about it.
- 4:55This doesn't make sense to me and to many people as well.
- 4:59We don't want to wait until the car is completely broken.
- 5:03It's not functioning to do something about it.
- 5:06So when you think about conventional medicine tech about disease management, Sick care.
- 5:12A pill for the ill.
- 5:13Short brief visit unanswered questions.
- 5:18Not solution driven.
- 5:20That's conventional medicine.
- 5:21Now you might be saying well, Dr.
- 5:23Jensi.
- 5:23It seems like you are completely against conventional medicine, which is not the case.
- 5:27To be honest with you.
- 5:28I used to be a conventional Medicine practitioner.
- 5:31Working in an emergency room and I loved it.
- 5:33I love getting people stabilized.
- 5:35I would love to do a differently instead of giving the medications.
- 5:38But seeing these people come in on a stretcher and live in or admitted to the floor stabilize.
- 5:44If they were having a heart attack or stroke, you can see the body stabilized.
- 5:48But of course I was not helping anybody healed anything.
- 5:52We were just numbing the symptoms, numbing with medications, and then never identifying the with cause true problem.
- 5:59After so long, you realize, okay, I'm not really helping people.
- 6:02My intention is to help people, but how am I doing this?
- 6:05If I'm just given a pill?
- 6:06However conventional medicine is good for emergency care only.
- 6:11If you're having a heart attack, a stroke, please go see a conventional doctor.
- 6:17If you cannot find an answer at all.
- 6:20You notice something wrong and you find a conventional doctor.
- 6:23That is conservative that's going to sit listen to you.
- 6:26Go see that doctor get the medication to stabilize the pain, but you should never stop there.
- 6:32Never.
- 6:33That's the number one mistake people make.
- 6:35Once they get the medication they feel well, or the medication numb the symptoms, they think that's it.
- 6:40They find a solution.
- 6:41They never go above and beyond to really identify what caused the problem in the first place.
- 6:47And then hold them behold.
- 6:49The problem comes back.
- 6:50I use conventional medicine.
- 6:52I still prescribe, if I'm being honest with you, I'm still prescribing.
- 6:55Cause I wrote.
- 6:56I still prescribe to stabilize my patient.
- 6:59Not long ago, I saw a patient with poison Ivy.
- 7:02In pain I'm not going to wait for me to give them herbs.
- 7:06Right.
- 7:06So I give him some valid tricks.
- 7:08I give him some medication for two, three days.
- 7:10To kind of decrease the inflammation, decrease the pain while we navigate the functional natural medicine space.
- 7:17Okay, so conventional has its own.
- 7:20Benefit.
- 7:21It's own use.
- 7:23But I found too often that people stay in that state of mind or in the conventional space.
- 7:29For too long.
- 7:30And that's not helping us.
- 7:32That's why people are still getting sick and they will remain in sick.
- 7:36You might be feeling better today because the medication is working.
- 7:40But I got onto you.
- 7:41Your body would get used to the medication.
- 7:43Your health will plateau.
- 7:45Oh, you might have some complications or experiencing some side effects or more issues the new started with.
- 7:50So that's conventional.
- 7:51I still recommend conventional medicine for what it is, utilize it for what it is.
- 7:56But you just have to know when to use it.
- 7:59And for me.
- 8:00I usually highly recommend patients use it for emergency situation.
- 8:04Only if you have a headache.
- 8:05Conventional medicine is not what you need you have to really take in consideration what's causing the headache if you just have a headache, it's not affecting your vision.
- 8:13The function of the body's not stopping in your truck.
- 8:16I wouldn't recommend conventional medicine.
- 8:17You have to go back prior to having that headache and identify what's causing the headache.
- 8:22That's what you need to do.
- 8:23You might say, well, Dr.
- 8:24Jensi I'm very uncomfortable.
- 8:26My head is killing me and I'm afraid I need to go see the doctor.
- 8:30Takes some Tylenol.
- 8:32Over the counter.
- 8:33And investigate.
- 8:34Why you getting the headache?
- 8:36That's what functional medicine comes into place.
- 8:39There are so many things you can do in the functional medicine space.
- 8:43And I know you might be here in so many things misconception of a functional medicine, some myths about functional medicine, how this is not a well medicine.
- 8:51It doesn't work is a scam.
- 8:54Is Wu medicine.
- 8:55It's voodoo medicine.
- 8:57But functional medicine used to be the medicine.
- 8:59Implemented back in the days.
- 9:02Back in the days we didn't have all these medications, big pharma.
- 9:06Insurance weren't that popular people were listening to the bodies using herbs simple remedies to heal the bodies.
- 9:14What is functional medicine?
- 9:16Functional medicine is the medicine too.
- 9:19We store we pair with juvenate your body naturally.
- 9:24The philosophy is that your body's designed to clean repair restore itself.
- 9:28We have south that I would juvenate.
- 9:30Every single minute.
- 9:31We have tissues that are we pairing every single minute.
- 9:34So if that's the case.
- 9:36Then, if we are patient with ourselves, we find a program, a treatment protocol that works for you.
- 9:43There's no way you're not going to heal your body.
- 9:46The body loves when we keep it simple.
- 9:48It doesn't lack when we complicate and do all these things and put all these things in there and then you become confusing.
- 9:53Collect in taxes and so on and so forth.
- 9:56The body doesn't like that.
- 9:57We functional medicine, we treat the whole body.
- 10:00And my fine doctor that specialize in specific area.
- 10:03Like myself specialize in the gut digestive issues.
- 10:06Because I know by focusing on the gut or the GI track you can healed.
- 10:11The body as a whole.
- 10:13You can address a lot of symptoms as a hope.
- 10:16If you have a headache focused on the gut.
- 10:19If you have skin issues, focus on the gut.
- 10:22If you have chronic fatigue, focus on the gut.
- 10:25If you have joint pain, hair loss.
- 10:27Focused on the gut.
- 10:28So with functional medicine, what we do.
- 10:31It is an investigative medicine.
- 10:33It is a wood cause medicine.
- 10:35It is not for these ease management, sick care.
- 10:38Or you have to be dying for us to treat you.
- 10:40That's not what functional medicine is.
- 10:42It isn't a medicine that's going to help you identify the problem.
- 10:46And if you find a good practitioner is also going to help you fix the problem.
- 10:50Because.
- 10:51The way I see it.
- 10:53Our bad is a not crazy.
- 10:55They are not designed to hurt us.
- 10:57They are designed to work for us.
- 10:59But if we don't know what's happening internally, Then we won't be able to support.
- 11:04And get the healing that we're looking for.
- 11:06We focused on the cells of your body.
- 11:08We know that this ease is a cellular process.
- 11:11So therefore, if we're going to heal your body, we have to focus on the cells.
- 11:15We have trillions and trillions of cells.
- 11:17And they work for us.
- 11:19To make sure we function every day.
- 11:21If you understand this concept of functional medicine.
- 11:24The new and knew exactly how to heal your body.
- 11:26Every human being should embrace functional medicine.
- 11:30Should welcome functional medicine in the lives.
- 11:33It is not one of those medicine you can just bypass or ignore.
- 11:37It is the true medicine.
- 11:39That's really gonna give it a results that you're looking for.
- 11:42That's Willy gonna guide you.
- 11:44That's the medicine for you.
- 11:46I, as I mentioned in the previous.
- 11:49Podcast my journey.
- 11:51In discovering functional medicine.
- 11:53It's like a hole when you world.
- 11:55Cause as I was struggling with my own half issues.
- 11:59With no help.
- 12:00No one to come rescue me.
- 12:01I have to really think outside of the box.
- 12:04I have to get out of the conventional space.
- 12:07And really take a step back and evaluate what's going on here.
- 12:11Why do I not feel my best?
- 12:14What is happening?
- 12:15I was not created to be in pain and have all these half issues.
- 12:19Right.
- 12:19Like Hashimoto thyroiditis.
- 12:21Ty with issues.
- 12:22That's an auto-immune condition.
- 12:24Many people think just taking a pill, that's going to help you know, you need to identify the with, cause you need to identify the root cause what's causing all this inflammation, all this pain and for the organs not to work properly.
- 12:36What's giving you the headache, what's causing the spasm in your brain.
- 12:40If you do not.
- 12:42Address, this that's how people get severely sick.
- 12:44Chronic health issues.
- 12:45Auto immune cancer.
- 12:47Because they live in the conventional space.
- 12:50And they depend on the conventional to get the results they're looking for, which is never the right thing to do.
- 12:56By taking a pill.
- 12:58There's no way you're going to heal your body.
- 13:00If you do not focus on.
- 13:03Identifying.
- 13:04We're moving detoxifying, decreasing inflammation, eliminating.
- 13:10It's like a tune up.
- 13:11For your body.
- 13:12If you embrace this concept you understand the use of conventional medicine, the use of functional medicine.
- 13:19You will go so far.
- 13:21In your house.
- 13:23Now, luckily for me, I have found what worked and everything that I need to hear my body to eliminate symptoms or prevent medications it's in the functional medicine space.
- 13:35But back in the days prior to going on this journey, I was using a lot of conventional, but unfortunately, Just that many other people.
- 13:44All felt no results, no outcomes.
- 13:46Still stick.
- 13:47Still looking still frustrated.
- 13:49Still.
- 13:49Anxious.
- 13:50No clarity.
- 13:52I never understood what was going on in my own body.
- 13:56Until I went back and we'd learn everything.
- 14:00As a doctor.
- 14:01Discover the magical herbs when you listen to your body.
- 14:06You investigate.
- 14:07And you find out the what cause or the underlying condition.
- 14:11You feel better?
- 14:12You do better.
- 14:13You make better choices.
- 14:15You have a plan.
- 14:16There's a light at the end of the tunnel.
- 14:18And then you see that all the possibilities of healing your body with no medications.
- 14:23No medication at all.
- 14:24Now, if you're hearing this and you said, well, okay, well, I don't know why she's talking about, because medication has helped me.
- 14:31Then continue doing that.
- 14:32I have yet to find out or meet someone that only relate a medication in the well, I'm sorry.
- 14:38You might be taking the medication for five years and you manage it.
- 14:41But guess what?
- 14:42You're going to wake up one day and find out something else is broken.
- 14:46Or the medication doesn't work or they have to up the dose.
- 14:49They'll have to try the latest one that, the big farm, I just release.
- 14:52Oh, your symptoms are getting worse.
- 14:54So the goal with this.
- 14:56Is to educate you, let you know you have options.
- 15:01And you should really be considering all your options before you make a final decision.
- 15:04If conventional medicine is where you add, because it's covered by insurance.
- 15:09We'll do a whole thing about why it's covered by insurance and what you get when insurance bay was this functional medicine.
- 15:15That's not covered by insurance.
- 15:16If it's conventional medicine, that's where you need to be.
- 15:18That's fine too.
- 15:19As long as you getting the results and you can sit with yourself and say, yes, I take all the pills.
- 15:24I feel great.
- 15:25Nothing is happening.
- 15:27Or the same pills I took five years ago.
- 15:29It's the same pill that I'm taking now, and I don't need to change anything.
- 15:32That's awesome.
- 15:34Keep it up.
- 15:35Go for it.
- 15:35Continue because we have to do what's worth.
- 15:38But if you find yourself taking one pill after another.
- 15:41And not loving or liking the side effects or you still don't know what's going on with your body.
- 15:47And you find yourself on a rollercoaster session all over the world.
- 15:50Seeing so many people.
- 15:52Asking so many questions and still left.
- 15:54Confused.
- 15:55Then I think it's fair to say.
- 15:57You should at least consider.
- 15:59Functional medicine.
- 16:00At least see what type of help you can receive what can it do for you instead of dismissing it completely because.
- 16:08You've heard bad things about it.
- 16:10Okay.
- 16:10Now.
- 16:11I as the practitioner who's been practicing functional medicine.
- 16:15For over eight years now.
- 16:17I can help you.
- 16:17Guide you.
- 16:18Answer some of your questions.
- 16:20I can help you identify what's going on.
- 16:22So, all you have to do is just book a call.
- 16:24So we do have a physical location here in Danville, New Jersey one, that's going to NJ, but we also provide telemedicine virtual medicine because this year.
- 16:34I am on a mission.
- 16:35To help people.
- 16:37I am tired of seeing people being sick, staying sick, still doing exactly.
- 16:42What they were asked to do the following.
- 16:44Recommendations.
- 16:45But they're still not getting the results at all.
- 16:48I'm tired of it.
- 16:49And since I mentioned in the previous podcast, I was chosen through this work because this is what I live to do.
- 16:55I'm here.
- 16:55My team is here you can get some answers.
- 16:58If you have some confusion, you just don't know how this can work for you.
- 17:0120 minutes out of your time and just speak to a functional medicine doctor and say, Hey, I've tried the conventional it was working for me.
- 17:08It's not working for me anymore.
- 17:09I think I need to navigate, I need to find something else.
- 17:12Can you help me?
- 17:13How can this medicine, this functional medicine helped me.
- 17:17What can I do?
- 17:18What results can I experience?
- 17:20It's just simple as picking up the phone.
- 17:21Okay.
- 17:22So we gonna do.
- 17:23Poor and cons.
- 17:25Functional and conventional medicine.
- 17:27And then.
- 17:28Because at the end of the day, yes.
- 17:30I want you to embrace functional medicine because it is the medicine that have helped.
- 17:33Oh, hundreds of people, including myself.
- 17:36It is the less toxic.
- 17:37Medicine.
- 17:38When you just have your first symptoms.
- 17:40Functional medicine can prevent further damage or complications.
- 17:44It is a restorative medicine.
- 17:45That's why I say it's not a disease because yes, you have this ease.
- 17:49This ease is a way of your body telling you something is off internally.
- 17:52Symptoms is a way of your body communicating with you.
- 17:55What functional medicine is to restore.
- 17:57And give you back your health and your life.
- 17:59Alright, if you are looking for help and you felt like, okay, well, You saw me on there is that the gen Z, I'm going to try to do this functional medicine thing, but I don't know where to start the, who I should talk to just schedule a call for discovery calls.
- 18:12It's 20 minutes.
- 18:13We call it the natural.
