Transcript
- 0:01I've asked Nathan Shafer to join me from Shafer heating and cooling here on the program today to talk about what's going on.
- 0:08Uh right about now and that is the summer heat and how does the summer heat affect our air conditioning systems?
- 0:17Nathan,
- 0:17how are you?
- 0:19Hey,
- 0:19good,
- 0:19Jim.
- 0:19How are you today?
- 0:20Fantastic.
- 0:21Thanks so much for joining me here on the program.
- 0:23So this time of year,
- 0:26we're cranking our A CS up more and of course they've been maintained,
- 0:31right?
- 0:31Everybody,
- 0:31you gotta have that maintained a couple of times a year and you've got the air filters,
- 0:36um,
- 0:36replaced and clean and of course,
- 0:39the refrigerant,
- 0:40uh you know,
- 0:41the freon,
- 0:41if you will,
- 0:42that's been topped off and,
- 0:44you know,
- 0:45it's running well,
- 0:46but not everybody has done these things.
- 0:49So what happens when the AC system is working in 90 plus degree weather?
- 0:55There's some humidity involved.
- 0:57How hard is,
- 0:58is it on the system,
- 1:01man?
- 1:02You know,
- 1:02it's,
- 1:02it's extremely tough if we're not taking those proper steps ahead of time and,
- 1:06and planning for it,
- 1:07you know.
- 1:07So,
- 1:07yeah,
- 1:08keeping that system clean and up to date,
- 1:10uh you know,
- 1:11keeping those air filters clean.
- 1:12Uh making sure that all the start devices and run devices and different things within that system are all operating properly in per spec uh man,
- 1:22we're,
- 1:22we're setting ourselves up for failure and,
- 1:24and you know,
- 1:24when it's gonna break,
- 1:25right,
- 1:25it's gonna be on that Saturday.
- 1:27Uh You got the,
- 1:28the kids event or graduation or,
- 1:31or,
- 1:31or whatever the case may be,
- 1:33uh maybe just want to simply enjoy and relax,
- 1:35uh,
- 1:35you know,
- 1:36enjoy that weekend and it's 90 degrees out or it's middle of the night.
- 1:40Uh,
- 1:40and so definitely that prepping and having those things ready to make a huge difference.
- 1:43If not,
- 1:44then you're gonna see higher utility bills.
- 1:46Uh,
- 1:46you're gonna,
- 1:47you're gonna suffer from comfort.
- 1:49Um,
- 1:49humidity levels are gonna be off in the house.
- 1:52Uh,
- 1:52things are gonna prematurely break that wouldn't probably have broken if,
- 1:57uh,
- 1:57you know,
- 1:57some of these devices were checked and calibrated or replaced if need be very simple parts versus the major parts.
- 2:04If we just did those preliminary steps and had it checked out,
- 2:06uh,
- 2:06by our team.
- 2:08So I totally agree.
- 2:10If we had to abide by the FAA rules and regulations,
- 2:15the air conditioner would never break.
- 2:17Do you notice that planes don't go down that often?
- 2:19Well,
- 2:19it's true though.
- 2:20Right,
- 2:20because they're constantly,
- 2:22constantly being maintained.
- 2:24They bring those into the hangar all the time and they're changing parts and lubricating and hydraulics all that type of stuff would keep the life of that unit running so much longer and so much more efficiently and so much more comfortably if,
- 2:38if we,
- 2:39uh,
- 2:39stay that religious right.
- 2:41With those,
- 2:41with those practices,
- 2:42for sure.
- 2:43Yeah.
- 2:43So the heat of the summer is going to really be taxing on your system.
- 2:48So you want to make sure that you keep it maintained.
- 2:51That's really the message here,
- 2:52isn't it?
- 2:53Yeah.
- 2:53absolutely.
- 2:54I mean,
- 2:54the hotter it gets,
- 2:55the harder that thing is working,
- 2:57you know,
- 2:57just like if you were,
- 2:58I go outside,
- 2:59I mean,
- 2:59the harder we're gonna work,
- 3:00the harder we're gonna sweat,
- 3:01the more fatigued and tired we're gonna get.
- 3:03That unit is no different.
- 3:04Uh,
- 3:04so you definitely wanna make sure we're taking care of that and,
- 3:08uh,
- 3:08keeping it prepped and ready so that you have the least amount of breakdowns,
- 3:11you know,
- 3:12um,
- 3:12and keep that money in your pocket.
- 3:14Right.
- 3:15Uh Let's,
- 3:15let's not be paying more than we need to be to the utility companies,
- 3:19uh,
- 3:19or bigger repairs,
- 3:21uh,
- 3:21that we could have prevented.
- 3:23And this is easier actually than maintaining yourself.
- 3:25And I'll say this because it,
- 3:27it'll ring true for a lot of people.
- 3:30If you actually eat less food and you work out more and you're in better shape,
- 3:35you're going to spend less on food and you're not going to go to the doctor as much.
- 3:39And so you're gonna spend less on medical and a lot of people don't want to talk about that,
- 3:42but it's the same thing when it comes to maintaining your air conditioning system,
- 3:46like a car or a plane.
- 3:48Like I said before,
- 3:49if we just take the steps,
- 3:51it's easier,
- 3:52I'll tell you one thing.
- 3:53It's much easier to have your air conditioning system maintained than you losing weight and working out because Nathan and his team will do all the work for your air conditioning system.
- 4:03Uh All of his contact information is located in the description of this podcast.
- 4:07Feel free to reach out to him and his team.
- 4:10Nathan as always.
- 4:11Thank you so much,
- 4:11my friend.
- 4:13Hey,
- 4:13yes,
- 4:13sir.
- 4:13It's good to see you again,
- 4:14Jim.
- 4:14Thank you.
